Drow Lore 🕷️ Height and Weight

🕷️Drow height parameters differ slightly in various game editions, but on the average, adult drow height ranges between 4,5 and 5,5 feet (around 137 to 168 cm), and weight – between 85 and 130 pounds (around 39 to 59 kg).

🕷️Taller Females? - drow females are said to be typically taller, heavier and stronger than males, although sources are not always consistent on the details. According to some, such differences are minuscule and hard to notice on the average – and in some others, size differences between female and male drow are quite noticeable.

Also, to make things even more confusing, sometimes male drow are depicted as taller than females, not the other way around (*cursor hovering over BG3 icon*)

🕷️Possible Explanation - differences in height between female and male drow seem to be inspired by real-life spiders, since female arachnids of various species are often bigger, heavier and stronger than males. In the most extreme cases, male spiders can be tens of times smaller than their female counterparts and they can weigh one hundredth of their weight.

Drow females who worship Lolth – especially priestesses and other females from noble houses – may emulate spiders in their preferences, typically choosing males of smaller stature than them to be their consorts.

It is possible, then, that differences in height and strength between female and male drow are more common among nobles from Lolth-oriented societies, due to culturally induced selective breeding. It may not necessarily apply, though, to all drow societies.

🕷️When Male Is Bigger - drow priestesses of Lolth who openly favour taller and stronger males are apparently rare, at least in some heavily Lolth-oriented cities like Menzoberranzan. Mez'Barris Armgo, who took the largest and the strongest male drow in the city as her consort, was even being teased because of that:

🕷️Tall Drow > around 5,5 ft (168 cm)

In Menzoberranzan, Uthegentel Del'Armgo – standing near to 6 ft (183 cm) and weighing nearly 200 lbs (91 kg) – was considered one of the largest drow ever seen in the city. His unusual size, combined with his violent nature and superior battle skills, were sometimes making other drow suspect that he was not a pureblood drow.

Some other notable male drow warriors, like Dantrag Baenre, Andzrel Baenre or Ryld Argith, were also described as tall – Dantrag was especially tall, being closer to 6 ft than 5 ft (between 168 and 183 cm).

Among female drow who were considered exceptionally tall, there was Halisstra Melarn (almost 5,5 ft / 168 cm), Matron Mez'Barris Armgo, who was not only a priestess, but also a fierce warrior, and Briza Do'Urden, daughter of Matron Malice Do'Urden and Uthegentel.

At least two drow matron mothers were considered short even by drow standards: Triel Baenre (less than 5 ft / 153 cm) and K'yorl Odran, who looked not only small, but also physically weak and unremarkable.

Iljrene Ahbruyn, priestess of Eilistraee and friend of Qilué Veladorn, was described as „tiny” and could be easily mistaken for a little girl.

Not that she couldn't sing, but that her company simply didn't want her to. After Weki-Meki's disbandment, It was a learning curve. Mya pursued a solo actress career in Japan, skyrocketing her popularity. She quickly became a household name, starring in several hit dramas and films.

After a number of hugely successful OSTS, Mya ruminated her time as an idol, missing her friends and desperate for a new identity. In 2019, a representative from Hyacinth reached out to the actress in hopes of making her the first actress under Star Cluster Entertainment, a developing subsidiary for actors and actresses within the industry. Subordinates of D10 who run a base of operation on the Mainland covered as the local steelworks. The couple is loyal to D10 to no end but they are often seen complaining about their amount of work, how understaffed they are and wish to have some days-off from time to time.

They try to lure innocent people in to get some free labor with Frankie's way with words and Hurricane's muscle. They often do their victims a favour to make them indepted to them. Frankie as the steelworks manager, treats the workers they forced in very poorly as they have to work for hours on end and are trapped at the base and never left out. The workers get severly punished when they displease the duo, earning the two the names "Frankie the Slavedriver" and "Hurricane the Brute". Their misdeeds were put to an end when they decided to bring in a young boy in blue...

Ashima Desai

Age: 16

Height: 164 cm

A young girl that arrived on Sodor from India to go to the Mainland for a big event, her parents were invited to. She ran into Thomas by accident and they did not get along well at the start despite Ashima's attempts to be nice. However, they managed to open up to each other over time, especially gaining his interest because she heard about a legend about a ghostly woman with a golden aura, suspecting it might be about Lady.

Ashima is polite, modest, generous and very confident in herself as she can sense when someone is being rude to her and knows how to handle a situation like this like with her first encounters with Thomas. She has the firm believe that nobody has to chance who they are at the core and that fully embracing who you are will bring you true happiness. After the event and she and Thomas and his friends got into all sorts of incidents, Ashima headed back to India but she and Thomas promised to stay in contact regardless.

Mallard Gresley

The oldest son of the Gresley branch family closest to the main family and Spencer's older brother. Mallard is prideful, arrogant and pompous like most Gresleys but he's more secluded than others and only cares about his own business, seeing no need to participate in their family drama as a very successful position was already guaranteed to him from birth. Because of that, he holds no jealousy against the main family with how content he is with what he has, despite the knowledge that he would inherit everything from the main family in the case it would disappear.

Mallard is so introverted and distant that he can mostly only be seen on big events and nowhere else. He and Scott decided to be on good terms for the sake of avoiding trouble neither of them wants. Despite being siblings, Mallard wants nothing to do with his brothers and sisters aside from business, especially with Spencer, who he views as nothing but a nuiscance with his pettiness and reckless behaviour.

A newbie ralley car racer from Australia, who goes around the world for events. Ace is carefree, impulsive, stubborn and tents to never consider the feelings of others, dragging others into his reckless actions against their will. Oblivious to it, he is also very manipulative and convinces people with pressure. He can also be lazy like when he made Thomas, the younger and smaller one, push his car up a hill when they got stuck in Africa.

His parents were archeologists, who worked with the Billington's and disappeared alongside them. When he learnt about Thomas 10 years later, he used his world tour as an opportunity to get to meet him and bond over their shared fates. He wanted to convince Thomas to accompany him on his tour mostly for fun and Thomas disagreed at first as this was a bit too much to ask for and he did not like Ace at all, even Lady told him to stay away from him. But when Ace brought up they could find clues about their parents' disappearance, Thomas reluctently agreed. Unlike with Percy, Rosie, Philip and Ashima, Thomas never warmed up to Ace and the feeling that he is a bad to have around never left him for a good reason.

Which of your designs do you think has evolved the most?

Ohh, fun question!

Though my answer will probably be a little boring, because there's not really that much difference even in the designs that have had some evolution. I just get an idea in my head and in the first art work out the details and then they're pretty... set?

But here;

The absolute first art I made of these three, using one of those templates. They were designed together, for visual contrast. If they weren't, Paris might've had dark hair and sometimes I waver about changing it but I keep not doing it.

About the third art I did with these three, together or not. Paris got his upswept front in the second one, so this isn't the very first art for him with that hairstyle, but it gives an idea of how quickly I abandoned the simpler fringe/front part of his hair. (It was partially to visually differentiate him from Ganymede more, even if they don't share a hair colour.)

In the end, Helen's design is definitely the one that has had most evolution, though only in the face, really!

The very latest art; she's ended up with a lot more defined/curvy facial features, though it's "just" a development of what was there from the start. Her nose, too, has gone through some tweaking, but not much.

She's also gotten quite a bit taller - my initial idea had her and Menelaos both around 173 cm thereabouts, because I did like them being a similar height but both taller than Paris. By now however, she's 188 cm (which is still the shortest among demigods, the ones that I've given heights to range between 190-200 cm). Menelaos has gained a bit of height too, but only a couple cm. Paris is the only one who kept his height as-is. I thought it silly and kind of dumb that when I'd decided that all demigods are markedly taller than non-demigod mortals, that Helen should be so much shorter. At her original height she was certainly tall for a regular woman (especially Bronze Age-wise), but it was way shorter than all the (male) demigods. So I boosted her up to be a couple cm shorter than the "average" shortest height a male demigod has so far been and that feels much more in line with my own worldbuilding/headcanon!

Hi guyssss!

I bring you a gift in the form of a rather boring, but practical posepack. Though saying that, my seated conversation poses were flagged on Tumblr for being inappropriate, so it may well be that this one is also 2 hot 4 Tumblr. Probably not, though. I made this one because I have a whole lot of chapters coming up with a whole lot of talking (emotional talking – see, there’s a theme to this thing). Unfortunately, conversation poses tend to just fall into arguing or neutral/happy kind of conversations, so I made these which display a range of different emotions. I think they’re extremely useful and there’s never been any doubt that I’d share them.

Let’s look at the goods!

Emotive Talks

Most of these are stand-alone poses that can be mixed and matched with these and other conversation poses. If you have the poseplayer add-on, the look at-interaction is great, too:

Number 5 is a couple set. As usual, these will snap together, though it might need adjusting with alt to fit his hand to her arm (depends on bulk/clothing). Also, when I say ‘male’ and ‘female’, I just use it to distinguish the two poses. There’s absolutely no reason that these can’t be used with any gender.

There are two male poses, one is height adjusted (male) and the other isn’t (maleb). As always, with height adjusted poses you can either:

Use a height-slider. I use CMar’s slider. Enzo’s height is set to 200 and Gina’s is set to -130.

Use an OMSP. Simply pop your dude on it and set it to around 13 cm, then snap photos from the waist-up. Unless your dude can fly – be creative, you special rainbow child, you.

One extra lovely thing is that the male one can be matched with other poses in this pack where the arms are at her side (and possibly poses from other packs). Check, for example, how I used it in chapter 20 (also in my featured image).

For this one, I also provide a look at her hands because 1. I like you guys to feel certain that the hands aren’t fucky and I’m trying to hide it. 2. I think the hands look nice and not-fucky:

They do well with height-adjusted sims (as you can see), but I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t be possible to use on non-adjusted sims.

Appearance

Nerei is a tan skinned young adult who is considerably taller than his peers. He has freckles on his face and shoulders. Her hair, dark turquoise in color, reaches past her shoulders. It’s usually kept loose, though a braid is tucked behind her ear. He has gold, vertical-slit eyes which are angled downward. When her mouth is open, sharp teeth are visible.

Personality

Nerei carries a calm demeanor which, paired with his levelheadedness, seems to put people at ease around him. He views this trait as being both beneficial and detrimental.

If Nerei feels like a conversation is straying into what he considers ‘dangerous territory,’ (such as the certain subjects pertaining to his cousins, Azul, or himself) she will shut it down or switch the subject.

Nerei prefers to support others from the background rather than bask in the spotlight, and will deflect attention from herself if given the opportunity.

Background

Nerei grew up alongside Jade and Floyd, often being the one to get them out of trouble and keep them company while their parents were busy. Essentially, Nerei was their babysitter. She didn’t hate it most of the time. They, especially Floyd, were rowdy, but he learned how to keep up with and manage them.

Her parents work with and for the Leech family, though their positions have yet to be disclosed. In her Birthday Jacket vignette, Nerei mentions being trained to take up her mom’s current position, though she switched the subject soon afterwards.

After seeing Floyd and Jade injured as children, Nerei learned how to make protective charms in order to keep them just a bit safer. He still makes and sells charms to make extra money.

Nerei enjoys sunny weather, as sunlight was a rare feature during his childhood.

Nerei has bad eyesight. She’s supposed to wear glasses, but got so annoyed by how fragile they are that she now refuses to wear them.

Nerei used to be an Ignihyde student. His reason for transferring is unknown as of now.

Backstory :

Maria grew up with a loving and lavish mother. Amélie Alarik was known as one of the greatest magic wielders in the Rose Kingdom, always being rivaled by Iracebeth Rosehearts. Maria’s mother didn't care for rivalries, note the fame she has. She simply cared about providing the best life for her daughter, promising to love her forever.

As Maria grew and went out more, she always wondered why people would avoid her. While her mothers influence had been a reason, her blood is what makes her feared. The Alarik family is made of these supernatural beings , specifically beheaded ones. Once a child in the family reaches a certain age, their head will fall off and get stitches to reattach it. Amélie wanted to avoid telling this to Maria for as long as she could since she was a late bloomer to magic, she also always covered her neck up so her stitches weren’t visible.

Then it happened.

Maria felt sleepy that evening after school when her head started to droop. When she tried to snap awake, it was her head that snapped off. Maria could see her own headless body sitting on the couch, body shaking violently. All she could do was scream and cry.

Her mother ran into the room and regretted her decision to keep this family curse a secret. She did her best to calm Maria down while carefully picking her head back up and placing it on the other half of her neck. Amélie brang out her sewing kit that she kept on hand in case she needed a thread change or if…this happened. Personality:

With a default expression is a blank frown on his face, Yukiharu may be an apethetic person from other views. And they aren’t wrong. The NRC students often see them as a cold and quiet person, who always appears with a tired appearance. Even if he answers you politely, it seems in his voice that they don't want to talk at all.

They have a habit to be rather blunt at times, even that isn't very nice for other people.

For a student from another world with magic, Yukiharu blends in pretty well among the students. He was quick to understand how the subjects works, and how they were different from his own world.

To strangers, Yukiharu is an expressionless person in a way. Of course they could still express emotions on their face, but people found it strained, forced. He isn't, really. They just can’t understand the concept of human emotions, including himself and that leads to him struggling to emphatise with others. Yet they will try to comfort the Overblot victims, with a crooked smile and a soft voice.

Yukiharu is actually pretty nice. He isn't afraid to help people, in their own ways. Although they couldn't emphatise with them, that doesn't mean he will leave them alone. So he will just keep quiet and help them, because that's the only way he could figure out.

Through 200 years, the Shirokami clan, represented all sorts of misfortune has committed countless sins for too long. Murder, arson, terrorism,... There was almost no crimes that they have done, excluding sexual assult or abuse, brought terror to the land of Akihabara. Description: There are many names that people seem to have for Caspian, but none are their own. “The Cursed One”, “The Blind Horror”, or just simply “that one fae from Terrovania that scares the shit out of me”. Backstory: Born in Briar Valley to two loving parents, the fae that would later be known as Caspian lived their childhood in relative happiness and stability. However, this was all interrupted one day when a guest arrived, claiming to be a “friend” of their mother. Unbeknownst to Caspian, their mother was once a powerful witch, and this “friend” felt threatened by this power. The guest attempted to put a curse on Caspian’s mother but they missed and accidentally cursed young Caspian instead. This would alter the course of Caspian’s fate for the rest of eternity.

Now this curse was not a regular one, conjured from the depths of Tartarus, Hell, or some other dark dimension, with the intent to drain a person of all of their livelihood and render them unable to be around others. This curse has no specific name but is said to be a “fate worse than death”. However, depending on the person, the curse can mutate and change because it is so powerful, thus also very unpredictable. In Caspian’s case, the curse gave them large horns that look similar to marble, milky white eyes, and drained their skin of color. Corpse-like, one could call it. The curse also gave them a condition called “draining”, which would soon become Caspian’s unique magic.

Caspian’s mother tried to do everything in her power to reverse this and cure her child, but nothing seemed to work. She eventually left on a long journey in attempt to find something that was rumored to cure any ailment, including magical ones, but she never returned. Not much is known about Akani, mostly known to the public as THE HUNTER, not even her real last name or her origin. All that most people know is that she'll do just about any task for cheap and won't ask questions. As she's a sinner, most people are afraid of her or dislike her.

She met Mar when she was about 6 or 7, and the two quickly became close, much to Akani's despair. She had never met anyone before this point, only having been taken care of by Mori after she left her place of origin. She knew that things were too good to last, but still clung onto the time that they shared together, even if it was not for long.

When the dance rolled around, she was about 16, and her death would soon approach. Her pluvosis had only gotten worse, causing her to often cough up blood and pass out, far more than before. She left out of guilt after they both died together.

During her teen years, she sought to make quick money as no jobs would take her, opting to instead become a street fighter. Underground fighting rings were popular everywhere, and were the only place that would take her as a sinner. She rose up in popularity, as she was the only sinner of that age but also within the ring. Her nose bridge became scarred and crooked as a result of all of the punches she's taken to the face and the poorly done surgeries done by herself or a wary, unliscenced medic.

When she was done running away, she returned to Mar and apologized, and attempted to allow them both to be friends again. Mar barely recognized her, as her hair had become white and long rather than black and short as it had been for most of her childhood, but warily accepted.

Due to Akani's time as a street fighting and proficiency for killing as a sinner, she easily climbed the bounty hunting ranks and took the spot as number one. Her skill is above all of her peers', and she has no true fear of death as she will return in the sea. She currently works as said #1 Bounty Hunter, taking on only the most undesirable and violent jobs that she can. Her face is barely known, but she stands out in a crowd. She's constantly on the run from the law--they see her existence as a nuisance and will do anything to get rid of her.

Background: At 75 years old, he became a polar bear spirit and spent numerous years deterring Rynnholmen's attempts to claim it as its territory as well as serving as a reluctant guide to those who visit Tanasaq

When he turned 115, he chanced upon a lost reindeer spirit who he initially believed to be a spy from Rynnholmen. The reindeer spirit, Astrid, explained to him that she had recently became an animal spirit and had no idea what was going on. Wanting to chase her away from Tanasaq as quickly as possible, Malik gave her a crash course on her new existence as an animal spirit and escorted her to the Tanasuqi Postal Service as she mentioned that she used to be a postal carrier before she was dismissed for reasons she didn't share nor did Malik care for

At 150 years old, he was introduced to rune magic by his elders per Tanasuqi traditions and met a practitioner of arcane magic 200 years later. While Malik chose to not learn arcane magic from him, he remained in contact with him and occasionally exchanged letters

His contact with the practitioner turned out to be useful when he encountered Hisui in Alstas 1899, which surprised the Tanassaqi as raijūs were rarely seen outside Asanoku, let alone in freezing Tanasaq. After learning that Hisui didn't actually have a place to go following the aftermath of the Asanokian Civil War, Malik suggested to them about applying for a position at the Hallowed Hotel, where the practitioner's teacher worked

After sending the raijū off, he continued to live a relatively peaceful life in Tanasaq until Rynnholmen formally waged a war against Tanasaq 11 years later. Like every other Tanasuqi, he participated in the war and came out victorious in protecting their independence. Following advice from Hayato, which Hisui relayed to Malik after news of the war reached Wulfenz, Tanasaq was able to get Rynnholmen to sign a peace treaty that influenced the latter country's eventual neutral position in future global affairs

Years after the war ended, he encountered Daedir while patrolling the Rynnholmen-Tanasaq border. Recognising the dwarf as someone who participated in the war, Malik was initially hostile towards him but upon learning that Daedir was on his own due to the saturated metalsmithing industry, Malik decided to teach him rune magic mainly to chase him away from Tanasaq

Once the dwarf was deemed ready to use rune magic, Malik left Daedir and went back to his solitary life in Tanasaq, with the occasional exchange of letters with Hisui as well as saving hapless travellers in the frosty Tanasaq. Strangely enough, an unknown woman who goes by Alexia visits him every month at midnight to play the flute. Malik knows nothing about the woman, but obliges her in their shared hobby as not once does she expects any conversation

Soul Devouring: While not a soul eater, her kind can also devour souls - they just tend to also eat the physical bodies of their victims, Yui hasn't done this in a while though.

Shapeshifting: She can shapeshift into her younger self, or a spiderwoman monster. She can also transform just parts of her body, like give herself a monstrous face or a sharp spiderleg-shaped blade arm. She is also fairly fast even with her age.

underwater breathing: She used to reside in a lake and therefore can breathe underwater, and is a very good and fast swimmer.

Weaknesses:

She is a darker type of spirit so light based magic and spells tend to work on her. She can also be damaged by normal weapons unlike her husband for example, something that almost led to her death back in the day a few times.

Yui's over the top performer tendencies can be a bit much sometimes, to the point she ends up annoying her son, and spooking her granddaughter accidentally why is very shy and timid. She also tends to suffer from loneliness which leads to this over the top social behavior, due to living alone now as her husband is a wanted fugitive, and her son has his own life to live. (He does make sure to see and talk to her regularly, but he is busy)

Personality:

Like Harrow, Yui can be quite eccentric and has a theater kid tendencies where she loves putting on a show and being in the spotlight, largely because she spent so much of her earlier life hiding in shadows to protect others without them really interacting with her directly most of the time. This did also leave her with a slight disdain and anxiety over being alone for long periods of time.

She is not as bad as her husband though when it comes to theatrics, and knows when to act calmer and more "appropriate" as she generally is better at reading the mood around her.

She is a very loving and doting mother and a grandmother, and fiercely protective of her family as well, willing to confront anyone - even beings stronger than her - for being nasty to any of them.

BG Story Summary

Harrow met Yui during his travels, and helped her save her villagers from a natural disaster. Her former home was destroyed by it though, so Harrow asked if she'd like to come stay in his realm until they could find her a new lake to reside in, which was admittedly difficult given the turbulent time the human world was in at the time (world wars were approaching slowly but surely). She was eventually convinced to go by the villagers who noted she was falling in love & did not want her to continue protecting them as the upcoming threats would likely be too much for her, she'd already done a lot for them.

Later she ended up falling in love with a music type from human world that was becoming popular among the Mirror world citizens, Jazz - and became a popular performer.

Fun Facts:

Yui's house - Jurou's former childhood home - was built in Japanese style to make her feel more at home, as Harrow's old home was more western style mansion she found a bit unnerving.

She enjoys singing and playing music with the whole family during celebrations like birthdays, as the whole family is somewhat musical.

Quinn and Alois still visit her occasionally, Quinn moreso as he has large periods of rest in-between tours and recordings, and he was always a bit closer to her than Alois

Her and Harrow often liked to sing sappy lovesong duets, often just to annoy Jurou when he was an edgy teenager. They still do it, but it doesn't annoy him as much.

Yui was always closer with Jurou than Harrow, but had a very good and loving relationship with her daughter as well, even if she did prefer her dad's company slightly.

Yui loves to bake and often makes some sweet treats for her grandchildren's birthdays.
