I finally have an idea for my Sentai (Obakeranger) changer

Yo-mamori Changer

This changer is used by the top 5 Obakerranger

It is a type of Yoyo mixed with a scanner and is used to transform and perform Yojutsu spells.

It comes attached to a bracelet

Oni Henshin Bracephone SmartInro

A Smartphone with a design similar to an Inro that is used by OniSlayer (sixth ranger)

It comes with a bracelet so you can use the "Onitouken" (Fighting Oni Fist) martial arts techniques.

They are very similar to Blade's Rouze Cards and Ryuki's Advent Cards.

These spells are varied (transformation spell, attack, barrier, summon, final attack, etc.)

The other rangers abduct the red. like knock him the fuck out via gut punch. granted idk how else you would convince some rando veterinarian to join your magical spandex hero squad but goddamn

His first emotion upon waking up in an unfamiliar area with giant robot animals was utter delight (even the other rangers are baffled by his lack of fear) and his first instinct upon seeing Gao Lion was "ooooooo lion!!" and to scale ?? the fucking cliff ??? babygirl you got insatiable curiosity and the self-preservation skills of a lemming you're a perfect fit for leader

"...." that comment made him self-consciously rub along his cheeks. Although it was meant to be a compliment, he wasn't expecting that to be a part of his anatomy for Issac to notice. The son of Hephaestus gave a glance up and down at the other demigod when mutual growing pains and gains were mentioned.

"I can't imagine you having too much of a glow up. You really look like you've been super photogenic your whole life. But maybe that's what you meant. We don't always see ourselves as others do..." And deep in his memory, maybe that tween version of Khairi, sat in the back of the class doodling his fanmade pokemon badges in his notebook could have so peace that maybe he wasn't as awkward looking as he thought. It would have made the bus ride back home to the group home less mentally damning.

"I have too many ideas. I think that's the problem." He bit his lowerlip a moment trying to filter those thoughts. "It's a whole new game loaded now that I know magic is actually real. Magic and technology; so much potential. That's the thing, though. I know tech, but I don't know much about actual magic. I've barely scraped the surface of what I could do, y'know?" He looks back at the training area; the mood to work out has suddenly subsided. Axel did tell him it was always important to rest when possible.

"Gonna grab some dinner and maybe lounge a bit. Jot some more ideas down. Have you eaten yet? I don't mind company." He ate enough alone when he was younger. It was time to accept companionship when it presented itself.

Somehow with Khai's disposition, it was hard to imagine that there wasn't some fellow nerd out there who'd become smitten with him. Obliviousness was likely to blame because even if you stripped down the other's muscular frame, there was still a clearly sweet, hardworking, and bright man who put his all into the task in front of him. That work ethic was likely the culprit.

"You think..." Isaac's brows knit together, he smiled, "You think you're not conventionally attractive? With that jawline? With those cheekbones?" An idle wave of Isaac's hand dismissed the notion, but he did understand where Khai was coming from. "I was also a late bloomer. Weird proportions, bad acne, it wasn't until after college that I started to fill out, work out." Isaac didn't doubt his physical appeal, he had eyes, but he knew not everyone looked in the mirror and necessarily saw an accurate reflection. "I read something once that a person never sees their face though, just pictures and reflections."

Actively listening, Isaac focused on what Khai was telling him and followed along as best he could. It was clear that the other's mind was operating on a different level from his own, to some degree, it reminded him of the brief stint when he'd traded powers with the son of Athena. There had been a perplexing, overwhelming awareness of things that Isaac otherwise wasn't attuned to. With strategy and acute details, it was like the world had slowed in the wake of his quickened thought process.

He didn't envy it.

"Do you have any ideas?" Isaac asked after Khai was done, "With what you'd like to make and how you might be able to blend your education with what you can do now? With what you know now?"

From Timeranger to Gokaiger there were 5 shows that used flip phones as henshin devices. But from Go-Buster to Kiramager, only Zyuogher used a phone/rubic cube and Kiramager used a smart watch. Why didn't Sentai used smartphones as henshin devices? Is it because smartphones look boring lack the inherent coolness and playability of flip phones? Or is it because Kyoryuger made Bandai thought weapons should be henshin devices instead?

I think it's because regular smartphones don't have a dynamic action like flip phone do/did. There is something really cool about being able to flip open your device and punch in a code. I mean, that was what a younger me thought was absolutely cool as heck about Kamen Rider 555's henshin sequence. There is one Sentai-adjacent series that HAS used smartphones though. The High School Heroes had a phone app that allowed the heroes and the villains to transform.

And I will always take the opportunity to advocate for the High School Heroes.
