have quite literally been waiting to see your comment on the new Irish unification meme that's going around. save me communist Irish historian. Communist Irish historian save me etc.
Well if you want my actual opinion on that article rather than just incandescent irritation I would say to the general tumblr community that one must remember 2 things: one, that people have been saying that Ireland is about the reunify for real this time since NI was created. 25 years ago they were saying this, 50 years ago they were saying it, 75 years ago they were saying it. Particularly when it comes to statements from groups like Sinn Féin, as cynical as it is, it's important to keep in mind that they and groups like them are political parties who want support and ultimately people's vote. In order to get these things, they tell people that their main reason for existing will be accomplished, no matter how far fetched some of their claims are, and, as noted above, this has been going on for a long time. I was reading just earlier today about articles published in the 30s with the same general message as this new thing going around and I think it's pretty clear what happened as a result of those lmao.
The second is that not only does not everyone in NI or even in the ROI want reunification, the bloc of people who really really really really don't want it is powerful enough in the north that any steps towards Irish reunification would not happen without death. People would die. It doesn't matter how much social media users who don't know a damn thing about the situation want it, the current political reality means that reunification would be paid for in a great deal of blood, because Irish people who are not hard-line republicans, and I cannot emphasise this enough, exist. Hence why it's kinda ridiculous to assume that anything will happen just because some guy said that Irish reunification is once again closer than ever. lol lmao l + ratio + talk to Northern Irish people + read Irish history + be realistic

While I've got critiques of a few choices (eg. bigeneration, the Season One reset), one thing I've got to commend RTD for is that the story arc of things getting "more supernatural" / the universe shifting from sci-fi to fantasy is actually a pretty perfect way of continuing the shows overall myth arcs without actually requiring knowing all the backstory.
Not only does this follow on from the Time Lords currently being gone again (which itself was kind of built up from the previous Gallifrey arcs and the Master's character development), but also is more or less exactly what the Ravagers wanted to do in Flux. They wanted to undo the Anchoring of the Thread, recontexualised in terms of the Division's universal interferenc. While time and its laws have somewhat stabilised for now, we are indeed now seeing Rassilon's laws of rationality starting to collapse. I would strongly argue this started even before the 60th anniversary, between the time loop in Eve of the Daleks and the constellations literally rearranging themselves in the sky in Legend of the Sea Devils.
Even outside of the shows main arcs, New Who has already dipped its toes into the concept that there are older creatures which don't necessarily run on science in the same way as everything else, or that are from outside the universe / incompatible with it. Primary examples being the Carrionites, Racnoss, the Beast and Abaddon, Weeping Angels, Solitract, arguably even The Timeless Child. The Dark Times have also been prominantly featured in stuff like the Time Lord Victorious series and Titan Comics.
We've also being seeing entities like Eternals gradually returning (Zellin, Rakaya, maybe Time) who were originally established as leaving the universe in the wake of the Time War in RTD's Series 1 backstory in the DW Annuals. We've even seen quite significant emphasis put on the Sisterhood of Karn and their connection to Gallifrey, something primarily developed in the EU with the Pythia lore, which also links into the likes of the Visionary in The End of Time.
All this being said, none of this backstory is (for now) important for new viewers to know. All they need to know is that Fourteen fucked up in Wild Blue Yonder, and now things which were once outside the universe, like the Toymaker, are starting to leak into it. They don't need to know, for example, that the TARDIS may only have been able to access edge of universe thanks to the scale of the Flux's destruction.
Ultimately this feels a lot like his approach with the Time War. While it was a logical conclusion to the classic series (hence why we get so many time wars / destructions of Gallifrey in the EU), with Genesis, Revelation and Remembrance of the Daleks all particularly serving as build up for a Dalek attack on Gallifrey, and indeed were all included in said prior-mentioned DW Annual articles along with the tension de-escalating 'Act of Master Restitution', none of that was important for new viewers in 2005 to know.
This being said, I do suspect some past context will return in the future, just as it did over New Who. For example, we're bound to be reintroduced to the idea that the Time Lords established rationality in the universe, maybe name-checking the Division as part of their interference. I also stand by my previous theory that we're likely to eventually see Rassilon return after his exile in Hell Bent. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he served as the face of an effort to bring back the Time Lords in some form, opening up questions of their oppressive history (expect the Timeless Child's trauma to be emphasised) and whether the universe is better off without its fantastical elements suppressed, even if this does open the universe up to the dangers he fought like the Vampires, Carrionites, Great Old Ones etc. (Particular emphasis on the last of these, given it's sort of implied the only reason eg. the Great Intelligence isn't a full-power Cthulhu Mythos Yog-Sothoth is because of the Anchoring.) Perhaps the Sisterhood of Karn's newfound influence on Gallifrey in the wake of the Time War and Lungbarrow could play a role here.

Topic: Concerns over making skycotl figurine sculpt commissions
Hi everyone! First of all, I'd like to say thank you so much over your comments and reactions to my two skycotl elder sculpts! I've worked hard for them, and I just feel so happy to everyone's comments on my work! Especially to some where I've managed to convince people they were real sky merch hehe (note: they aren't x'D). I think that's the highest honor I've ever received being an artist~
I'd like to address this topic, as I've been receiving a few comments on how they'd love to own one and perhaps commission me for custom skycotl sculpts. I hope it's alright with you guys for a moment of a very long text post ;u; So for starters, I'd like to state the fact that I am not a professional artist. I'm just a hobbyist with a background in veterinary medicine. ;w; zero background on art school. I was pretty much self-taught. So if I ever do create sculpt works for sale, they will be made by a hobbyist artist with no art background other than years of self-taught art stuff.
I'd like to state reasons on why I hesitate to make custom figurine art commissions.
I have never made nor sold physical merch/ sculpts -However I have made and successfully shipped sculpt works to friends! They were however made with oven-baked sculpey, which did not handle shipping well and had to be glued together. However, the elder pieces were made with quality air dry polymer clay. This clay, when dry, has the same feel as nendroid or SHFigurarts figurines. They are amazingly flexible and takes a lot to break. So I'm confident with these figures being able to survive shipping.
I cannot guarantee flawless, clean, uniform quality similar to goodsmile and other well-known figurine makers, or even indie makers -The results may be different every time, there may be unwanted notches here and there, I might see something during painting progress that I didn't spot while sculpting and cannot adjust it once the clay dries, my paint job may be flawed (uneven lines, color mistakes, etc.). These are my main concerns. Again, I am not a professional, although I do improve each time I work on something new. Currently, these two were the second time I've sculpted using air dry polymer clay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the images above, you guys may spot imperfections such as: -Tsadi's helmet and head being a little rough -Rough-looking paint details (especially the white "glow") my hands were shaky -Tsadi's gloves not being perfectly straight -Little dry paint "dirt" bits which leaves some little bumps here and there (Notice Tsadi's arm having little bumps) -The underside of Teth's hair was hard to reach and paint perfectly -Teth's hands looking a little odd (the clay air-dries fast and the more I worked, the more it risked their fingers breaking apart) -Teth's skirt should've been more flared-out, but the clay decided it doesn't want to hence the skirt flaps became a little limp -Accidental score marks I must've left from being pricked by something (like a fingernail or a tool next to me) before it dried completely 3. Price -Even if I consider my work shoddy, I'd honestly price Tsadi (Golden Wasteland elder) $200 and Teth (Hidden Forest elder) $150, without shipping fees and etc. I think that sort of price will turn people off, but these are completely hand-made, from sculpting to painting. No any sort of pre-made clay cast used. I did lose a lot of skin on my fingertips because of this project. I'm actually still in the process of growing it back ;; I was constantly checking my work everyday for 30 days, leaving the clay to firm up a bit and coming back to adjust it as it dries, so it did take a lot of time and effort. (I'm not complaining however, I really did have fun with this project!) 4. Material supply -The main concern is the clay. It's brand is "Modena" air dry polymer clay sourced from Japan. I've waited half a year just to buy it from one local art shop, and currently I've only seen 4 packs left in stock. I had to use 1 and a half pack of clay just for GW elder, because he's such a big guy x'D
So ah... Yes, these are my concerns if you guys do really want to commission me. I'd be willing, of course! But I'd like you guys to know first of what you guys may receive if you do so. Thank you all so much for your consideration and taking time to read my post! I hope you guys have a wonderful day QwQ your comments have made me so happy! Oh and I still do digital art commissions though :3

[Spoilers for pretty much everything up to the finale. Also I'm talking about Arc 3 here just so you understand.]
.
.
.
.
.
Now I'm thinking about the logistics of having a Switch in Wonderland. I know it sort of adapts to people's subconscious needs (hence the existence of Cecil), but I was always under the impression that it ended only on the subconscious and would still fit somewhat in the ramifications of your one wish. Is there only one wish you can make? I mean, as kids they could wish for whatever they wanted any time they wanted, but obviously Wonderland was much different back then. And with how much emphasis is placed on the wish, I'd think it was the only you got. But anyways, back to my main point. I'm assuming that either the Switch had to have spawned spontaneously after Orlam and Iggy got together or that Orlam, coming into Wonderland with a newfound affection for Iggy, had it (as well as other Iggy bait) tossed in with his usual castle and guards. But... is it just a normal Switch? Like does it have all the same games normal Switches do? And how do the online capabilities work? I mean, there was a TV in Gidget's mansion in Arc 5, so it's not too farfetched for there to be some kind of Wonderlandian equivalent to the internet as well, but there's no way it could connect to the real world internet, right? Otherwise it would all get fucked up. I guess the most probable answer is that it has all the real life games Iggy could want, and maybe it magically keeps up to date with the current switch games in the real world, which would probably take years to come out considering the time speed difference between Wonderland in real life. But now is the most fun question: Are there Wonderland exclusive games? Tailored specifically to your needs? Perhaps Iggy can't get enough of the Kirby games he already has, and just wishes up a new one. Or a Balthier Bunanza dating sim (Orlam would be so jealous. Well, probably not, actually, but I find it funny.). Honestly, that's what this has all been leading to. I want to know if it's possible for Iggy to just wish for new games to appear on his magical Wonderdo Switch. I wanna do that. This ask has been brought to you by my unyielding curiosity and obsession with this game.
this is getting into so much I've never thought about before FJDJDJFJ
hmmm
I feel like a lot of wonderland just formed and evolved based on their inherent wants and needs in addition to their actual wishes. like the fact that when they were kids, they had ice cream and cookies and snacks being given to them, while as adults there's an inn with alcohol lol. even things like how the forest grew and warped around bucks. how the castle and nobles formed for orlam. how the village changed around gidget. none of these things were directly related to their wishes but kind happened in tandem with them based on their current psyches. (also why in arc 5 everything gets even more twisted because their inner thoughts have become so warped and wonderland responded to this)
so I do think a lot of the things they have in wonderland do just kinda come into being in some way or another. perhaps in ways that seem like serendipitous coincidences to the ppl in question
LOL having said that no I don't think there's Internet down there and definitely nothing that would connect to the outside world 🤣 the idea about the games though is super interesting. my initial thoughts are that the games would be formed from their impressions and memories of the real games. but they wouldn't be exact (there would be strange differences perhaps) especially if it's a game they've never played before (in this case, I think a game would be created that fits what that person thinks the game would be like) but I think that those playing the games wouldn't notice the oddities because they're so entrenched in wonderland that it feels normal
I love the idea of random new games just being created I think that would be hilarious 🤣 FJDJDJD BALTHIER DATING SIM I'M SOBBING Iggy finds this on the shelf and is like omg I never thought they would make a game like this??? but otherwise doesn't find it odd even when the game somehow perfectly caters to his every fantasy fjfjfjdjd I love this idea LOL

Oblivion Battery Episode 12 Review + Final Thoughts - Baseball Is Fun
What’s interesting about Oblivion Battery is that this is one of the rare cases where a sports anime does not have a big focus on matches in a big tournament. Instead, they chose to focus more on practice matches. Practice matches aren’t high stakes, yet they’re still treated as such here. While it’s not a bad thing, I just find that interesting given that they’re in a public school with a barebones baseball team. Hence why the match against Hikawa High wraps up quickly for this finale.
Tumblr media
It’s good that Kei developed and managed to hit Makita’s pitch. It was an important hit, after all. I liked how Haruka was confident that Kei will hit it because he has always been practicing with him. If Kei can keep up with Haruka’s pitches, then other pitchers are no match for him. It helped Shunpei get to home base with his speed and finally proving to Makita that his style of baseball is ideal for him. It helped Kotesashi get a win against a big named school. Most of all, it helped Kei develop a love for baseball in his amnesiac state. The way he was all excited in his room was very nice to look at.
Tumblr media
While the finale is nice and all, there still hasn't been a concise answer to how or why Kei lost his memories or if he’s suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder. All that’s shown is that he seemed to have a burnout from baseball and everything he did as the Commander, which included “killing” potential baseball monsters to help Haruka get on top, probably took a toll on him mentally. He watched a slice of life anime and realized that his life was full of stress and he was missing out on the mundane aspects of life like eating snacks, going to a store and searching for love and peace. That’s why his amnesiac self always repeated the same things he saw from that anime. It’s also unsure how the change from Kei to Commander Kei happened. Was it really hypnosis or over exhaustion? I guess I would have to read the manga to find out.
Tumblr media
Kei’s gradual change from disliking baseball to falling in love with it was interesting to see. He does things at his own pace, so it was eventual that he’d fall in love with baseball once again. I do have a feeling that the Commander never loved baseball genuinely, hence why the amnesia caused him to regress. The current Kei wants to surpass the Commander, so I do wonder how powerful Kei will become with that declaration now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s unknown whether this anime will get a season 2, but it would be nice to see where Kotesashi will go from here if it’s possible. If there is no Season 2, then this finale is a great way for new viewers to dive into the manga to see what happens next. What are your thoughts on this anime as a whole?
Final Thoughts
There are those animes that have a bad first impression, but does get better later on. Oblivion Battery is one of those. First-time viewers may be put off by how annoying Kei was—I certainly was too—but if you persevered, it’s actually pretty good. However, I do admit that Aoi and Shunpei were the main reasons why the anime is good because those two saved the show with their antics.
Did you know that ‘Boukyaku’ can also mean ‘forgetful’ in Japanese? That’s the premise of this show! Because Kei lost his memories, he regressed from Lv. 100 to Lv 1 and had to reteach himself the basics and fundamentals of baseball. Kei learning about baseball is also helping first-time viewers with the sport too. I learned a lot about positions, how to score points and how important a battery is to the sport. I do feel like the author is very familiar with the sport to be writing about it.
While sports animes can be comical, the comedy in Oblivion Battery can be hit or miss. Kei’s Nipple Hair gag can get old, but all the meta jokes were hilarious. I think Episode 8 was the best when it came to comedy because all my favorite moments came from that episode from Haruka pouting to Mamoru Miyano making an actual cameo.
Learning about Aoi and Shunpei’s past was also a highlight because it’s fascinating to see how two baseball aces fell from grace due to their own personal issues. It shows that you can be your own worst enemy. Aoi was riddled with personal guilt which caused him to develop yips. He ran away from his problems by getting into fights, but when he decided to reform and attend Kotesashi, he realized that he still loved baseball even with his guilt and issues. For Shunpei, he was insecure about the things he lacked which he denied until a one-off comment made him realize that he was deluding himself into believing he wasn’t insecure all this time. Heck, even someone like Kazuki had his own issues with baseball as he couldn’t deal with a suffocating hierarchy system, showing that some clubs functioned in a toxic manner. My only gripe was not getting a Yamada backstory. The guy is the POV character, give me his backstory!
I guess my only gripe of this anime is that the team sort of lacks proper management? Like they still don’t have a coach or anyone to train them properly so they still feel like newbies aura-wise? I guess I might have to dive into the manga to see if they will get a coach later on. Also, Yamada was the POV character, yet he’s mainly in the shadows compared to Haruka and Kei, who are the real stars of the show.
The voice cast is actually very strong for an obscure sports anime like this. The five main characters are voiced by either big names or rising stars. Big name voice actors include Toshiki Masuda as Haruka, Mamoru Miyano as Kei, Yuki Kaji as Yamada and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shunpei. Rising stars include Yohei Azakami as Aoi. I like the mix-match of big and rising stars for the cast. The supporting cast is no joke either. There’s Tomokazu Sugita as Teitoku’s coach, Takeo Otsuka, another rising star, as Kokuto, and Kengo Kawanishi as Kirishima. MAPPA really does pour a lot of money into a good voice cast.
The music and animation are pretty decent for MAPPA standards. The opening song is good, but when you realize the band is Mrs. Green Apple and then you look up the recent controversy they had regarding a rather questionable music video…yeah. But the opening song is still addicting. The ending song is a little meh. The animation is pretty good, especially with all the meta stuff, but Episode 11 is when it amped up a lot and looks amazing.
Oblivion Battery may not be the ideal baseball anime. I wouldn’t really recommend this as a baseball anime because it’s so short, but if you still like sports shows, I’m not going to prevent you from trying this anime out. It’s still a good show despite its many flaws. If you watched this show, what are your thoughts?

have you watched pyrrhic_victoria's newest video of them critiquing lore olympus? they're currently being called out for invalidating persephone's sexual assault & doubling down on what they've said.
Ohhh boy, I have lol and it's pretty much what I was vague-posting about the last couple days `(*>﹏<*)′
TW: sexual assault, insinuations of victim-blaming, community drama, lil' bit of trauma dumping
So now that I feel sorta okayish talking about this, Pyrrhic & Victoria put out a new LO video recently with a take that wasn't so hot. I won't go into too many details but it was one that essentially attempted to invalidate the existence of SA in Lore Olympus. Which, let me just say, is a really bold but shit take to have because while we can criticize LO as much as we like, it should never, EVER be an excuse to invalidate what we all know was very obviously SA, whether or not P&V recognize it as such themselves.
It's been a bit conflicting for me because while I obviously disagree with their takes, they're in the ULO community and I interact with them on a regular basis. I've hosted them on my streams, I respect them as creators. But that whole schpeel... really didn't stick with me.
I feel like a lot of where this take (and the responses to it) is coming from is personal/subjective, but there's also a general argument between the ULO community and the main LO community when trying to discuss LO because often times, people will supplant their own experiences to defend shitty writing. A very good recent example is Demeter's character assassination - a lot of people defend the poor writing and mischaracterization as "well I had an abusive mom so this is good storytelling!" when it's like... that's neither here nor there. You can have experiences with shitty parents or SA (as I do!) but still separate those experiences from the media you're consuming and recognize when the media isn't being written well. I'm an SA victim myself and while I do NOT think Persephone's SA plot is being depicted well, especially when it comes to Persephone's internal headspace, that doesn't mean I'm justified in saying Persephone wasn't SA'd. That's a completely different line to cross and one that absolutely should not be crossed. Hence why I mentioned above that P&V seem to be conflating RS' shitty writing with the real life experiences of those reading it as their reasoning to criticize the writing itself, not much different from how we complain about the stans using their own experiences to defend shitty writing. It's two sides of the same coin - just because you've experienced the things that happen to the characters in a fictional piece of work doesn't mean that piece of work is actually well written; just because you're criticizing a piece of work for being poorly written doesn't mean you're allowed to invalidate the experiences of the people relating to that work.
All that said, from here on out, I won't be continuing to engage or affiliate with their content. They've explained to me in-depth how they feel about both the situation and the opinion itself and it still seems to just be something that we're gonna have to disagree on because they're failing to give RS even an ounce of credit for that scene. It doesn't matter how shit her writing is or how they think the SA "doesn't make sense" in the context of the story, we all know that scene was SA, even if it wasn't what Rachel originally intended to write, she chose to embrace it through the Eros/Persephone conversation and it's been SA ever since. It's not something that I'm going to debate here, ever. RS mishandling the subplot after the fact doesn't invalidate the nature of that scene whatsoever. And I say that fully as an SA victim myself, the "kind" of SA that often gets invalidated the way they tried to invalidate it - coercive, intimidated, pressured.
I won't blame P&V for being so aggressive with their takes, y'all know I'm pretty loud and outspoken myself. But they took it a step too far in their recent video and I'm not gonna entertain it any further. It's often said on their channel that they're "just two dummies with dumb opinions", but that doesn't mean their opinions don't have the power to hurt others or send toxic messages that are fully capable of being absorbed by and spread by their own audience. That's the responsibility one has to acknowledge when hosting any kind of platform with an audience of any size, and it's one that I take very seriously, both in what I consume and in what I create.
Tumblr media
I've definitely been getting that "maybe don't be such a snowflake" vibe off everything going on and I hate to see it. I genuinely want to see them learn and grow from this because I do care about them beyond just their Youtube rants, but so far it's not really looking like that's gonna be the case, at least not for a long while, best case scenario.
People fuck up. We're all human, and part of being human means making mistakes. But what defines our character is how we bounce back from those mistakes. How we hopefully learn and keep an open-mind to learn from others and strive to do better. I really hope they can take a bit to step back, actually listen to what people are saying, and do better. I don't want to see them encase themselves in the same kind of echo chamber they criticize Rachel for. But ultimately, I can't control what they do going forward, so I have to just focus on what I can control - and that's choosing not to engage with their content any further.

Hey, it's been awhile since you talked about your Mamabel AU, I know it's been on hiatus, but it's one of my favorites and I've had questions about the AU for a long time now, the powers of Mirabel and the Vergara kids are never really explained, neither is Epifanio or what happened to Bruno, I know he's in the AU and he doesn't seem to have gone into the walls so what's been up with him for the past ten years? It'd be nice if you could elaborate a bit more on those parts, and frankly I'd love to know more about what Mirabel's house looks like, both inside and out, as you haven't really described it much
INDEED IT HAS 😧 but um. Lucky for you and all the other readers, its currently under write (which is why i've been slow on Mama Isa and the werewolf au but. Imma get there I SWEAR.
Likely, the currently chapters won't change too much, but enough. The family dynamic is a little different, but its nothing too bad. I swear.
Powers, Epifanio & Casita and Bruno were literally meant to explained in flashback chapters that. You know, never came to be.
But I'll try and explain without spoiling too much??? Epifanio is essentially a sibling to Casita. Literally from the same magic. I changed it so there isn’t a separate candle, BUT Epifanio is still seperated enough to where it has its own magic. But if the candle goes out, both Casita and Epifanio will have no magic. Only difference is that Epifanio won't fall, because it was built by the villagers for Mirabel, and wasn't created by magic.
And another thing. Mirabel's house was never meant to be permanent. It was more of a hangout spot for her and kids, you know a place where they can meet up. There's only rooms because Mirabel and the Miracle kind of willed it to have rooms. And the way the rooms work is weird??? Like there aren't 30-odd doors. There's a few ways to get to a room, the main one going to one of the few glowing (blank btw) doors. Whatever kid touches it kind of just. Materializes their rooms on the spot so they can go in.
Externally, Epifanio is visually pretty similar to surrounding house. It doesn't stand out in particular, aside from a few things, hence why the Madrigals never really noticed it. Internally, it's only one floor, rather than two. Again, it was supposed to be a hangout spot, not a house, so that's how it was built. There's more than one bathroom tho, lmao. There is two separate doors, Mirabel's room which the kids. Regularly just barge into to find Mirabel.
And then Bruno's room. Because while yes, he was in the walls for a few years, he didn't stay all 10 years because eventually Casita ratted him out to one of the kids and they dragged him out if the wall 💀 he's not seen in town though, at least not in the plaza, and any villagers that DO see him, they don't say anything. He obviously isn't ready to reveal himself (but he's working up the courage to do so.)
Another thing that's changing in the rewrite is any kid under 4 won't have a gift. Easy to write and. We don't need a bunch of toddler running around with powers. That's crazy. But they WILL eventually get gifts 😭 just after the story. Obvs. Mirabel's gift is pretty simple tho, it changed ever so slightly she has sort of. The ability to read minds. Talking into the mind, no, but reading it, yes. She has a whole hive mind with her kids. But she doesn't like take control of them, she can't do that 💀
This was a list I made a while back (edited a bit but its virtually the same). Basically it's the kids names, their age, whatever symbol they are on Mirabel's skirt, and then if they have one, their Gift
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ultimately, the rewrite has some changes, none too major, at least I don't think so. It will take a while cause I gotya rewrite the current chapters ans then new ones. I wanna say it'll be between?? 10-15 chapters. Because it takes place during the events of the movie, so basically its just Canon-Divergent.
I need to redraw Mamabel's reference fr
BUT I HOPE THIS HELPS❗❗ but of course, I can always do more, just shoot an ask <33

Also can I ask. About KWKO. How did you first come up with them? Who was the first oc to come to mind and who was the last? Which one would you want to be roommates with?
I've had a few pjsk fan units before KWKO, so I wasn't exactly new to the concept when I first thought of them (Vanguard!! you will always be famous or something). I also used to be an author for pjsk shuffle unit AU that had a classical music unit, so that was my main interest at the time.
Long story short, some things went down, and additionally I've partially lost interest and partially noticed I'm too musically immature in regards to classical in most of my portrayals; that unit shuffle is currently on re-write list, I think. But aside from that, a lot of pre-set character backstories were more stifling to me than I expected, and I don't consider myself a particularly good writer, so... I just kind of wanted to get away with more, and from it. And also do classical music justice, this time. Everything else came pretty naturally.
Karin was the first character I've ever created, her first "solid" draft version was made March 12 this year - and frankly hasn't changed that much on the surface while her backstory and inner workings have definitely been revised since then. My first thought was like, "Hm, I want to create a character that has fox-like hair and has a fox surname, and is also mean, that would be fun" (it doesn't show much because everyone has their personal hcs + picrews are very limited, but Karin's design actually has the tips of her hair fade into brown-ish red and then black - hence the fox. I have a photo reference of what inspired me but no actual drawings!).
She was also originally supposed to be the unit leader, but not for long. I've realised very early on that Karin is unfit for that role both narratively and story-wise.
I can't exactly say who was the last - I think Akari? But honestly I made them all on the same day, so I think more fitting questions would be whose personality was established last and whose design? In that case, Suzuka and Maki, respectively.
Maki was briefly supposed to have blond or brown hair and blue eyes, then she had gray hair but still blue eyes. I don't know why I settled on purple/lavender color later - fits her nicely though!
Along with said fun fact: Kairi was originally supposed to have hazel eyes and either blonde or white hair. Currently he has light cyan eyes and off-white hair. Suzuka was supposed to have twin-tails, similar to Kohane's early main story haircut; it was since changed, but it remained her Junior High haircut.
Also, for the roommates... I feel like Reishi or Maki. Reishi is the sweetest guy and I feel like we'd get along well in how we like to keep our stuff organised and chores distribution; Maki would be a horrible roommate all things considered but she's also the most nun-judgemental person alive, which, considering the absolute state in which my room always is, would be a nice change of pace.

Arackniss! (AD RD)
Tumblr media
My Angel Dust redesign and rewrite!!
As seen in the title, his new name is Arackniss.
Basically the only things I kept about him are, spider (duh), being a drug addict (no cocaine though, that was around in the 50's and he died in the 40's), his PILOT personality (fuck the series one/neg), and ties to the mafia. He's still pretty feminine, but not fetishized
He's now an only child, hence why he's so important to his father (in life and hell)
Kind of similar to something from Helluva Boss, Arackniss first came to the hotel to kill off one of the guests, but ended up checking in due to Arabella's insistence. (Possible subplot of Arackniss' dad looking for him and the rest of the hotel helping him hide???)
Very closed off for the first couple of months, Arabella pairs him, Verity, and Wilter together for a trust-building exercise after noticing, and the three (A, V, and W) become a trio
His color-scheme is more of a dull red and dark gray, dark gray like a ladybird spider, and red to represent bloodshed from his previous life and current afterlife actions. He enjoys wearing pastels but wouldn't be caught dead with them on in public
The hat was a gift from his mom.
DETESTS wearing vests and other 'stuffy' clothing. Doesn't even wear shirts unless around half of the buttons are undone. Sometimes wears thigh-highs under his pants
I feel like he would kinda want to shave his fangs down, but would be scared it would hurt
Four arms and four legs. Whenever he's sitting down he usually attempts to braid his legs together. Enjoys the extra arms so he can do more at once (Example; Gun in one hand, cigarette in another, lighter in the third. Fourth arm is used for gesturing)
His main two eyes are pretty bad, so he tries to rely on using the others, or all of them at the same time
Heroine-chic, given the fact that's his go-to, and that's the drug that ended him.
Him, Wilter, and Verity probs form a little bouncer/bodyguard group for the hotel. One time Verity went to his room and jokingly asked if he spun all of his silk blankets himself. Let's just say she isn't allowed back in there-
and... Now I'm blank. Verity, Alastor, and Laffy Taffy's designs are coming next (order non-comfirmed)

I wanted to ask you a couple questions about the school structure for the Veil if you can talk about it. It seems like the academy and university are fairly closely linked but do they operate basically the same as our hs/uni do? Like picking a major/trade kind of thing. I think I saw that Audric was listed as a post grad but still a trainee so is there reaper uni classes then a sort of practicum afterwards? I hope this makes sense. I’ve tried to write this ask 5 times now
So, I spent some time rooting around my files, because a long while back I drew a map of the campus grounds for the spire...but now I can't find it, so i wonder if it's one of the unfortunate victims that got jumbled when I moved to my new machine. Ah well. But yes! They're quite literally linked, since that's why I even went looking for the file. The two campuses are side by side and share certain amenities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so these are some super rough unfinished concept things from my files, but this ought to at least show the physical setup. There's a primary school within the spire as well. Somewhere in there. I haven't decided yet, not that it ultra matters, so let's just say it's somewhere in the middle. As for how they operate-- You got it already, more or less! The schools themselves are famous for their reaper program, having been founded by the same scholar who founded the organization itself. Of course, with Veil attuned students being one of the rarer attunements, the island's --uh, resources , to put it kindly, and the focused study needed to train those who would take on the veil's blight, the schools have a bounty of academic wealth to impart on hopeful magi graduates as well as those seeking to become eidolons. So there's several fields here that will gain a shining education in their field if they put in the hard work (... And, strangely enough, they have a pretty good classic lit department.) Using reapers as an example, the path would be as follows: Enrollment to secondary school and all basic curriculum classes as normal > attunement > undergrad prep courses for the reaper program if it's accepted (most do) > first stage of graduation undertakes the Eidolic Aperature (Uncap Ceremony, breaking the limits of magi's natural magic limit) > If successful, second stage will complete the full graduation ceremony and go on to university > training /studying intensifies, focusing more on study (the nature of liminal tears, wraith winds, corruptions, and the tools reapers operate) and choosing which field they will pursue in the program, while all are given a basic training course in specific magics and hunting techniques that ramps up until > completing the four year program, grad students engage in full trade training, working as the island's main service of hunters, scouts and sentries. Audric is currently in the final stage of this, hence the gossip quoting him as "Just a student, but practically the real deal." Primary school is fairly standard as can be, but it's a bit more fun to learn those classic subjects when you have the fun of enchanted textbooks and a kind, quirky siren for a teacher who plans fun aquatic fieldtrips. At least she tends to be everyone's favorite (She's also a grad level professor who works specifically with Aetherbiology majors and Reapers in their first years of university. She's one of Audric's favorite professors-- if not his top favorite.) Lichgate in general is something of an outlier for how its schools operate, though. It isn't exactly standard practice to smash them together at the very top of a spire, or to offer such an exacting focus from the moment of enrollment (on in some certain cases, attunement) until you've essentially gained your equivalent of a doctoral/masters. The location sitting right on the Veil's most unstable liminal tear is to thank for that-- and of course, even if you don't care as much about your education, it somehow manages to be the safest campus. As long as you follow the rules, obey curfew, don't wander off, and do exactly as your professors say during any off-spire excursions, especially.

So I got this idea recently, but I might do like a "HI3 retold" or something. Because first of all, for a while I've been feeling like HI3 missed out on more and more little (and big) things, like explaining WS' structure which didnt really happen when Mei joined, or Mei's shift from "we cant retreat, must solve the eruption before Kiana arrives" to "nah Kiana's got this" happening off screen, to most of Elysium Everlasting and basically all of New Project Stigma. But even things like, an epilogue to HoS and a setup chapter to HoDom. Not rushing through Herrschers as fast as we did.
And second of all, I've been wanting to replay HI3 but haven't found the justification reason for doing so. "I wanna replay" just isnt enough for me in this case.
So I've thought of going through the chapters and writing as I play. Taking each arc by themselves before I publish my rewritten version of the chapters.
Now, most chapters would be basically unchanged. Will of the Herrscher? Mwah. Arc City? Mwah. Sea of Quanta? Mwah. Nagazora? Mwah. (From what I can remember of them at least.) But there would be things like, a chapter or EX chapter after 17 to cover Mei joining WS, some of its structure, how it operates, etc. Extending the HoDom arc to four chapters so the fakeout happens at the end of the second chapter making it a bit more believable.
Like, this is a broad overview of the first 4 chapters which will be biggest difference from canon excluding the final chapters;
Chapter 1: big aircraft ship crashes towards the city. Kiana and co are sent to stop it. Its been damaged from a battle with the 4th Herrscher, so everyone onboard has turned to zombies. Hence why its crashing towards a city. It would basically play out the same, with more zombies, more Honkai beasts, and less mechs. And no wierd code quest thing for Kiana that is never relevant.
Chapter 2: flashback. Still need the tutorial. Chapter 2 is basically the same, except instead of a test at the end, they get an alarm that the events of chapter 1 are happening. I also figured I could explain the type chart by making it Schicksal propaganda "oh look, AE mechs are just good against Valkyries. They dont want to fight the Honkai with us blah blah blah". Rita can still be sus and foreshadow things, I think I can squeeze it in before the test. (Or just have the test but end the chapter on the emegency)
Chapter 3: instead of going at the start of the 4th Eruption, Wendy is the 4th Herrscher before the game even starts. So instead we are sent here as backup. See, Wendy has been fighting basically non-stop. Schicksal keeps sending in competent aircraft and Valkyries to wear her down, and theyre chasing after her. So Kiana, Mei, Bronya, and Himeko and Theresa on the Hyperion is sent to keep the 4th Herrscher occupied until Durandal can arrive to finish her off. Then Kiana and co get lucky, can still get through to Wendy somewhat, and since its established that Wendy is worn down, makes their Herrscher defeat more reasonable. Then the ending can happen basically the same.
Chapter 4 would also be pretty much the same at this point.
"Broad overview" my ass...
What that would do is establish Herrschers like these big threats that the main cast is currently too weak to fight against. They only took down a tired and worn down Herrscher after 3 chapters of basically being the background cast to the fighting.
So, you know, when Kiana turns into the Herrscher of the Void three chapters later, it is a much bigger "oh fuck" moment. But also an "oh god what is a Herrscher at full power like?" moment, which pays off as HoV shows what a real Herrscher can do before theyre worn down and tired.
Because like, what is the point of the 1st chapter in the grand scheme of things? It is a really cool opening, but thats all it is. Its never relevant again. You could start at chapter 2 and the rest of the story stays unchanged.
So why not make it part of the 4th Eruption fighting and put Kiana, Mei, and Bronya's starting strength at "can barely take down a weakened and tired Herrscher" in chapter 3 to "can fight the most powerful Herrscher head on" in the final chapters.
Of course this is me though. Any oppertunity I get I will axe New Project Stigma, replace it with the Old Project Stigma, have the heroes stop it, and then have a proper fight against the Herrscher of the End which was foreshadowed since the 2E manga - that we also never got to see in-game. Just the Kevin knockoff.

FebruarOC - Larel
Larel, like Damaris, is a DND character that has gone through a few different campaigns. Why make a new one when I can rehash an old one that never got to go anywhere on the first try?
Her first version was when I was invited to join in a campaign as a guest, as I was visiting some people when they were going to have a session. We were playing 4e which, like, this is why I enjoyed pathfinder so much (I know pathfinder is more 3.5e)! It's so much more crunchy and branching than 5e is. So when I say that Larel was an Eladrin, it's so much different for vibes than the 5e Eladrin. She was a Druid, though I don't remember the details from there for specifics. They didn't do "circles" the same way that 5e does; her role in the setting was to act as guardians for the last few remaining doors to the fey wild.
As water became more scarce and the desert expanding, the portals to the fey wild needed to be guarded as people fled back across the planes. She was technically in the same guild as the ranger of the party was, but I didn't talk to him much prior to that, it was just a good way to get Larel involved with the plot when the party was in town.
She had a huge distrust of anyone who used arcane magic, because it was magic users that were destroying the world, so she clashed with one of the party members right off the bat (the character was played by one of my friends). There also was a Wizard but I think we only had like one session cross over, so it was mostly the warlock that Larel butted up against.
I was invited back to be recurring, but since I am in Cali and they're in PA, i had to skype in and couldn't always make it because of timing, and the priority was their party's regular meetings instead of finding a time we all met up. Which was fine. I won't go into details on the campaign here suffice to say it was the weirdest way a campaign could end, blows a kiss to the ethereal plane I think they're floating through space????
After that campaign, friend was going to do their own campaign and was inviting me to it originally. So I remade Larel, this time as an aasimar and using this homebrew Circle of the Furies. We had some pretty cool vibes going on for how she would be in the plot, etc etc until friend decided no. They wanted it to be an in-person game only, and they were changing the plot. So I was uninvited. Okay.
Years later, Kalina invited me to join her Taldorei campaign so I decided to brush Larel back off and bring her in! She's back to being an Eladrin, and she's sort of emotionally stuck in Summer. Circle of Wildfire, because I really enjoyed Fearne in ExU/CR3. I never DID quite hammer out her backstory fully in this setting, except that she had stolen a bird from an Archfey, jumped through a portal to the material plane, and then just kept running. I think she might have killed the archfey? Or at least thought she did. Hence the running.
The bird is her wildfire spirit, Emrys! Her goal was to get him back to the Fire Plane, which she didn't quite know how to do until the party ran into some Air Ashari and they told her about the Fire Ashari and she just went HMM!!
I began to realize, though, that I created her as a character who was kind of single-minded in her own personal quest that she was fine with going along with the main quest, but I didn't feel like she was engaging in a way that was beneficial. Kalina and I discussed the possibility of her leaving after the current plot-hook, to go do her personal things, and I'd bring in a new character. Unfortunately, spring/summer 2023 turned into an absolute emotional shitshow for both Kalina and myself in our personal lives, and everyone was so busy that it was hard to schedule games. So it's sort of on an indefinite pause.
We played on Roll20 so I don't have an up-to-date version of the character sheet with her skills and the spells I mostly used a phone app for, but attached are her level 3 starting details (and some notes at the bottom from when I missed a session and was listening to the recording lmao). I posted the art i got from my friend Lauren during OC-tober (sorry no twitter mirror I'm too lazy to look for it).
Here is her original pin-board; I can't remember if she could summon a jackal and she turned into a caracal or if it was the other way around?? I think she turned into the caracal. Yeah I never settled on an official appearance for her, but she did wear clothes that were very Rey-esque. Here is her newer pin-board; when I started to rebuild her as the circle of furies aasimar, I settled on the late model Raudha Athif, and kept it for the circle of wildfire version.
PS: Her original name was Larel Havrel, but then when I was rebuilding her for the Taldorei campaign, I kept spelling it wrong and also I didn't like the way that it rhymed so I changed it to Larel Havar. Except then I kept typing Havrel. So, who fucking knows what her last name is LMAO
You can find her (out of date) character sheet on patreon! (Unfortunately I think I threw out her 4e one as I just had no need of a laminated DND 4e character sheet I'd never use again LMAO)

Girl why the fuck one of the kids only got an air mattress in your build...
Not gonna lie, this ask made me laugh. You're quite the eagle eye! Honestly, Beau has an air mattress for more than one reason, and I'm not sure if this is a rhetorical question but I'll take any opportunity to explain the lore around my sims! 👍
Let's unpack this under the cut ↓
It's important to note that the Brokes are a family from TS2 who are known for struggling financially and being, well, broke. (You might know this, but just in case I wanted to start there).
That being said, for the sake of realism I wanted all their furniture to feel haphazardly mismatched, hand-made with scraps, inherited from family members, or purchased very cheap at second-hand stores or yard sales (maybe even found in the dump/on the side of the road). For storytelling purposes, I imagine Beau just aged up out of his toddler bed and they don't have the money to get him a whole "big kid" bed yet with Brandi having a recently dead husband (who provided their main source of income) and a whole new child she wasn't expecting (hence why their bed is a pack-and-play and she has the changing table set up in her closet due to the lack of space).
Their household funds are currently under $1,000. Brandi is a waitress and is making less than minimum wage, largely depending on tips to make up the difference. The air mattress is obviously not ideal or a long-term solution, but that's what she can afford right now so that is what Beau has. I mean, Dustin's bed frame is made out of scrap wood and even Brandi's bed is very cheap (it's probably the first "adult" purchase her and Skip made when they got married). Beds in the Sims AND in real life are actually pretty expensive and a luxury item for people in poverty (ESPECIALLY bed frames which serve no function other than looking nice) so all things considered, I just didn't think giving all of them super nice beds was realistic. 🤷‍♀️ I promise it wasn't just something I did randomly for like the outdoorsy aesthetic of his room (I wasn't aiming to give his room a set "theme" anyway).
I also want to note that any "nicer" items you'll see in the build - like Dustin's gaming system (albeit it's the less expensive one) - are also "storytelling choices" on my end. I don't have my priorities mixed up or anything, Dustin just has a history of petty crime/criminal friends, so I imagine some of the nicer items in his room to probably be stolen or bought with money he made in a less-than-ideal way. Or like, there might be an antique decor item here or there (like the ceramic chicken in the kitchen) and I see that as something Brandi inherited from her grandparent's own kitchen (and little things like that emphasize my personal headcanon that her and Skip have country roots).
TLDR; I'm detail crazy. Like detail insane. No (normal) person needs to care about or have an explanation for these menial decisions but I do. Trust me when I say that the choices I make in a build always have a reason, even if that reason seems stupid lol.

So I’ve been watching playthroughs of Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga recently, as well as start to play it on the Switch for myself, and personally I find myself liking the character of Prince Peasley, and I do personally find it a shame he doesn’t show up in any other games. I mean, I get why he doesn’t, he’s prince of the Beanbean Kingdom and probably has important duties there and can’t just follow us to go along our adventures, but still, a bit of a shame
Anyways, that’s not what I wanted to talk about. What I wanted to say is that through these watchings and my own play through (though I’m only like an hour and a half in, so I haven’t actually met Peasley yet), my mind started to drift to Dark Choco, like it often does, and how maybe Dark Choco pre-Strawberry Jam Sword could be a bit similar to Peasley, at least in role and reputation in the kingdom.
And now I want a character in a video game series where in the first game, like Superstar Saga, you go to this kingdom and along your journey, meet the prince of the kingdom, who’s like a well known hero and beloved and respected across the land, and also the character himself is just a cool guy, being a recurring character and ally in the game, sort of like Peasley. Then, in the second game, you return to this kingdom because a new threat has arisen, and in between games, the prince learned of this legendary power, and because the kingdom can’t always rely on these heroes that helped them last time (especially if like in Superstar Saga, they don’t live there), the prince goes to seek it out for himself, to protect his kingdom. When we first get to the castle and such, he’s still out on the mission and everyone’s awaiting his return. But then later when we come back, the castle is in ruins and the ruler injured, with us learning that it was the prince that caused this. The people of the kingdom might think something was afoot, and that he wouldn’t willingly do this, but no one knows for sure, so the kingdom is now in a sort of chaos, not sure what to now think of the prince. Then along our journey, we encounter him again, several times, but now he’s a recurring enemy that we fight, whereas in the last game he was always our ally. It is that “legendary power” that’s making him turn against us, but I’m not sure how much of an effect it has, like if it’s fully possessing him and it’s basically a different character (though to be honest I don’t like that one), or if like, he’s battling against it and we see him in his lucid moments, but he’s only able to keep it at bay for so long, hence why he’s hiding away from the kingdom, or if it just like, influences his thoughts or something. I’m also not sure what his connection to the main villain is, whether he joins them or because he still has his morality, refuses to and is a third party, or if he’s a reluctant member because their power helps keep the one he’s currently dealing with at bay, or whatever. Also don’t know if we free him from this evil influence (the “legendary power” I mean). I mean, we probably would, but I’m not sure if he’d stay long enough in the story to do so, or he leaves the kingdom/story and we fight him again in sequels. But if we do him back to normal, I imagine he’s not just going to return back to the same cheerful person he was in the first game, after having gone through all that. Leave some impact on the character, you know?
But what I do know is that I imagine when fighting him, he’d have this special attack where the top of his face goes dark and we see one eye shine red, then he uses his weapon (I imagine it to still be a sword like what Dark Choco has, as well as it being pretty big) to cause a massive wave of damage. Also that the arm that uses the weapon would have black armor on it now, when it didn’t in the last game (also not sure if the black armor would be something we see progress throughout his encounters, like the power keeps infecting him and manifesting himself as the black armor, slowly covering more and more of his body until it’s completely covered and he’s just like a shell. I kind of just like the idea of the one armed armor)
Just an idea I had that I thought was neat

Was Kurtcedes not replaced by Blaine coming along and taking up all Kurt’s time in season 2? As she didn’t like being the third wheel in The Substitute? I suppose they could have had Kurtcedes together in New York but I guess by then Kurt was Rachel’s side kick. And Mercedes is a lovely character, there wouldn’t be half as much drama going on in the loft in 4/5 as there was with Kurtcheltana.
Also regarding bi Blaine. Personally I don’t like the idea. Why? Well he’d have just been another Sam or Artie figure - dating all the girls in Glee club to provide various stories. Please not another Brittany boyfriend to piss off Santana. Maybe Blaine would have been nice with Tina, in 4/5, purely because he did love her platonically.
But I think it would have changed the Klaine relationships if Blaine had a history of previous girlfriends, maybe even previous boyfriends. The idea of them being each other’s first love, first time, first everything (and last!) and their love and devotion pretty much to no one else, just lifts their whole story. Maybe I’m just being old fashioned.
But I’m more drawn to the bi Sam idea, and the Blam option, if I had to choose a midgame for Blaine.
This has been sitting in my drafts for over a year now, lol...
****
Re: Mercedes -
No, I'd argue that since Kurt was becoming way more popular (I believe he was the most popular character from the show) the writers wanted to capitalize on that bumping him up to a lead character. And thus, it'd be better for the writers to make him share time with the actual main character Rachel.
This is why Season 3 Hummelberry was shoved so hard down our throats. Blaine was a part of Kurt's story, and while there are a lot of reasons as to why Blaine faded into the background more during season 3 (mainly Darren's schedule) by season 3, they wanted to make Hummelberry a feature, and not have Klaine (or Kurt's individual story) such a main thing.
Essentially - Kurt's individual arc stops at season 2, because he becomes an accessory in Rachel's story (really, the way Blaine was an accessory to his story in season 2.)
Mercedes and Kurtcedes becomes a relic of the original landscape of the show, unfortunately. They never wanted to Mercedes to a higher tier, hence why she became a B and later C-list character. (To which I lament.)
****
Meanwhile, Bi Blaine!
I remember there was a time when people worried that if Blaine was made bi that'd mean, for some strange reason, that it'd cheapen the Klaine "gay" experience or something weird. :P (I'm definitely not saying that's what you're insinuating - just thinking out loud.)
While I personally don't see the character as bi - I'm always up for more bisexual representation. And I agree there were was a myriad of ways they could have achieved that -- Artie would have been an interesting choice. Jesse St. James another.
I wouldn't have minded if Blaine had experiences before Kurt, either, tbh. And I assumed he had at least made out with people (both boys and girls) before Kurt. I personally don't feal that more or less experience with other people has any affect on one's current relationship. However - people are free to enjoy any aspects of the story how they choose to - and that's fine by me. :)
