Spoiler Warning for the new Helluvaboss Episode

The more I think about the episode and listen to this absolute epic song, the more awed I am.

Like, first of all, we were all so worried about Vassago and he is such a sublime diva, I love him.

But what really broke me (besides the obvious) was Satan calling Lucifer "The Golden Angel". Yes, he was bullshitting about his place in Hell's hierarchy but that makes it even more special: Lucifer has many names, the fallen angel, the snake of the garden, the devil and such are surely ones he despises for they remind him of what he believes to be his biggest mistake and consequently of his greatest pain but they are what most off hell would know him as.

He has been called these things for 10 000 years.

The Morningstar or Samael (if Lucifer in the Hellaverse is the prince of heaven Samael and I would think so) might seem better choices at first as these are the names he had been called in heaven but that would simply make them more painful.

But Satan doesn't call him any of these.

He calls him the golden angel.

Because even after all these years, that's what Satan sees in him. The angel. The light. It's not a name, to him it is a fact.

There is so much to unpack there alone and that was just one verse in this masterpiece of a song!

Speaking of the song, can we please all appreciate that Vivzipop gave us the opportunity to have a fucking villain song sung by a protagonist?! Aka, everyone's absolute dream!

And oh boy, did Bryce Pinkham deliver.

He did such an amazing job that at first I didn't even realize how bad the lyrics was.

"Does he deserve the flame?" - What flame, he was just about to be beheaded dude, you just used that because you needed a rhyme with blame.

"Scheming more mastermindery" - Bro, what ?

"Could master the disaster" - You can barely master the disaster xD

All in all, it seems very rough.

But the moment Stolas opens this, what pocket dimension ?, and he and Blitz sing about their true thoughts and feelings, all of that changes and we come back to the heartfelt beautiful lyrics we are used to.

Meaning, that this entire performance wasn't one of hell's spontaneous musical numbers that just happen, like Ozzie's and Fizz's parts in House of Asmodeus or "When I see him", where the music and words just come to the characters. It turned into one, but didn't start out like that.

No. This was Stolas, showing up, stopping an execution with probably only half an idea of what exactly Blitz has been accused of and deciding that the best way to save this idiot's life is to bullshit his way through a song he's coming up with on the spot.

Probably in order to ensure that that arrogant peacock wouldn't interrupt him because a) dude probably can't sing and b) of the sheer absurdity of the situation.

(Bonus points if Stolas also thought about how that was probably not even the most dramatic soap opera acting they'd seen that day considering who was obviously leading the show on the Goetias side. But I don't want to give the bird to much credit, we know him to well for that. I love him, but he's a himbo.)

Anyway, I just really needed to say all of this because my brain is in overdrive.

I'm also itching to start drawing a short tragic comic about what would've happened if Stolas had come to late but I try to stop myself because, one, at this point I don't know how much more my soul can take and two, I am in the middle of another Hellaverse Project I should really finish first 😅

If I want to, Peter never had to do the memory spell and then no villains appeared and May didn't die and Perer is happy going to college with his girlfriend and being roommates in an apartment in Massachusetts, yes!

If I want Stolas and Blitzo meet earlier and they resolved everything earlier by kicking Stella in the ass and taking custody of Octavia and Blitzo adopted Loona when she was little, meaning she didn't have so many traumas and he resolved all her problems with fizz and fizz and ozzie are married and they are all a happy family yes!

And if i want isha is still alive and jinx is not blown up and is reunited with her and now she and ekko live together with the firelights and are working together to transform zaon into a better place yes!

Because I can! and it's not my fault if the breeders don't have creativity, my babies will have their happily ever after!

Perspective is hard, misspelling things on purpose is surprisingly hard and this drawing, as a whole, was hard. This one took an embarrassingly long time to finish and I wasn't even finished when I decided to post it. The pose is hella weird because I did the sketch when I was high but I kinda wish I would've reworked it better before going straight into lineart, Imao. Anyway, day 3 is done and I'm so excited for tomorrows prompt

Because apparently I'm hyperfixating on a song now. That's new.

But, back to the topic. I was thinking about how much the Sins and Goetia were able to hear of the duet part because if they had been able to hear Stolas sing about his regrets there would have been more if a commotion. I mean, guys, we finally have a character with common sense and Vassago is not shy :'D

But the way Satan starts 'Well isn't that adorable' must be a comment on their relationship because why would the Sin of WRATH find a conceived betrayal by a high ranking member of society find adorable?

So at least the "Die to clean your/my slate" must have been audible for at least the sins even though the court room is still tinted in Stolas colors.

And then I realized something: Satan says mice not mouse (again, amazing choice of words to call an owl of all things a mouse).

Why mice? Why speaking about both Stolas and Blitz if he truly buys the idea of Stolas being the brain and manipulating Blitz?

What if, the Sins were able to hear the first part of the duet as they are more powerful than the Goetia? They know that all of this is basically a scam on Stolas part and that's the reason Satan didn't execute him. (Because I stand by it, a plotting Goetia would be far worse than a rogue imp.)

He knows that Stolas is innocent but he wants to punish him because dude showed up, undermined his authority by stopping an execution, making a scene and just being a pain in Satan's ass. So banishment it is.

Truly, a win win situation, a lesson to Stolas, no danger of a potential imp revolution (which wouldn't actually be dangerous but probably very annoying) and punishment for Blitz who loudly proclaimed 'I don't deserve this'.
