Silly fic idea for you:

SVSSS AU where Shen Yuan transmigrates as a half-human half-crow-demon Phantom thief character.

He doesn’t want to steal from Bing-ge, but his System makes him, and naturally Bing-ge ends up obsessed. Bing-ge keeps luring him into traps with shiny things he just can’t help but want!!! Stupid crow impulses. (That he kinda wants to see Binghe again is irrelevant, obviously).

This is SUPER silly. Anon, this is so funny, I feel like I simply have to write this now oh my god. The idea that Bing-ge is confused at first, and he then sees this super handsome half bird-half human-demon thing and is like "man I need to get me more shiny things, I want to keep this fucker". ALSO, (I've heard that) crows are quite intelligent and start leaving presents as a response to getting fed or being given shiny things, so it could also be something where Shen Yuan starts having the urge to give Bing-ge things back after receiving all these shiny things (better if he doesn't recognise most of the traps as traps, mistaking Bing-ge for being a generous demon who doesn't need all of the shiny stuff he takes) and starts giving him shit like rocks and plants and the cool parts of beasts he fights... It also can be silly no matter when in the timeline this happens - it could be during the QJ peak arc where Shen Yuan sneaks around because he wants to see the awesome protagonist up close! The first time he steals something from Bing-ge, it's something super dumb like a particularly shiny rock or a coin that the boy left lying around, and Bing-ge's quickly like "??? The fuck just happened?" so he sets up a trap with the axe he uses for chopping wood (kind of rusty but still useable and particularly shiny). After that, it's chaos of trying to keep Shen Yuan the demon hidden while also stopping him from stealing other shiny things (cultivator's swords and such). Liu Qingge finds Shen Yuan trying to steal one of the swords he was gifted after saving a village and is also like "??? Kill?" It can also be after the Endless Abyss, when Bing-ge is like a demon lord and just has shiny stuff lying around. He throws it out occasionally and one day, while doing this, he notices a certain person swooping in and grabbing one of the shiny things. More antics ensue but I don't want to crash my laptop lmao (Which one would you rather me do, anon? Before the Endless Abyss, or after? Or both??) {part one! shen yuan and bingge deserve be adventuring buddies . I need binghe bumping into shen yuan on his way to get wife plot cure #734 and allowing shen yuan to join him because he's bored. binghe finding a treasure trove and readying xin mo to kill the man accompanying him because shen yuan is no doubt coveting the gold and planning to betray binghe. binghe pointing his sword at shen yuan's back and finding him looking at historic murals and copying them down in his notebook. shen yuan says this is exactly what he was looking for and binghe quickly sheathes his sword before shen yuan closes his journal and turns around.

shen yuan: travelling with the protagonist shouldnt be too dangerous as long as I don't piss him off, right? besides there are so many mechanisms in pidw that only open for Binghe... i could spend years looking for artifacts that Binghe can stumble across in a day!

binghe is constantly seeking out some rare plant or trying to complete a quest. shen yuan is trying to explore pidw as much as possible because the world building is actually really good. they find themselves on the same trail so often, one day shen yuan just wakes up in his inn room to binghe standing over him saying "wake up, I'm going to the northern territories today." while Shen Yuan is screaming because why are you in my room!?

Usually Binghe prefers to do things solo but Shen Yuan isn't an unwelcome change of pace... for one thing he's not always slowing him down and can defend himself. for another he's... weirdly loyal to binghe. a bandit group ambushes them one day and shen yuan almost dies defending binghe. (binghe makes sure the entire organization is wiped out)

Binghe's wife: if the two of us don't find [wife plot artifact] I'll die! we must set out immediately!

Binghe: you stay here. I'll go

Her: But the legend says it needs two people or it wont reveal itself

Binghe: yeah I've got someone to go with

Her: ... hello????? this is supposed to be my romantic adventure ??????

Just thought how in "Bingge vs Bingmei" extra, after seeing his shizun together with his own alter-ego, Bingge passes through nearly all five stages of grief one after another: denial, anger, bargaining ("Come with me!"), he is obviously leaving while going through depression and acceptance happens behind the scenes.

And at this very point the ficwriters are waiting for him, he-he. And: "Hello, bingjiu fix-its!"

Or unconcious. Before giving him the Cheek Squishes.

But also let's keep in mind that Luo Bingge here still hasn't had any good adults in his life. Not really. He's jaded AF. Although he delights in having some nice touches for once, he's still not immediately going to leap to "i have found god" status. He does sort Shen Yuan into "potentially nice adult? good pats and squishes. Must think some more about this" while he panics about his near death and how his shizun tried to kill him (kind of) by sticking him in a fight.

the big twist at the end is that this is actually bingge who has timetravelled/reincarnated and is intentionally manipulating sj.

Oh wow, It's a bit hard to pick just a few because I've read a lot of SVSSS fics in the past few years, but here's the ones that came to mind/ I've been thinking about recently! (I'm excluding ones that I already recommended this week for the ask game, you can check out my "ask fish" tag to see those. Edit: I made a "fish recommends" tag too.)

Qijiu:

"i bury my voice for you" (series) by lithali. Space opera AU, Shen twins, everyone is aliens, intense qijiu longing, SJ’s unending font of angsty internal dialogue, and kinky qijiu sex feat transmasc SJ. I need more people to read this one!!!!!!!

"Palimpsest" by Azzandra. YQY loses his memories and tries to piece together how SJ fits in his life from what others tell him. I adore this fic, it's a really interesting examination of both their characters and why they love each other intrinsically. 

"You Were You, And I Was I" by MissMegh. Deaged qijiu being feral, clinging, and horny teenagers. Super cute and funny!

"what thing it is (that people most desire)" by Jinxed_Ink. A vaguely medieval AU based on an Arthurian legend where SJ disguises himself and blackmails YQY into marrying him for Revenge. SJ has Absolutely No Other Motive There. I didn't know how much I needed this particular brand of qijiu marriage shenanigans until I read it.

"I'm just as exposed (when i take off my clothes)" by owoxian. Qijjiu being weird and horny (as they deserve), being misinterpreted as abuse by accidental voyer MQF. 

"The Sect Leader’s Husband" by AMereDream. Canon divergence where YQY came back for SJ on time, and instead of becoming the QJP head disciple, SJ married YQY and became the power behind the throne. Cute power couple qijiu!!!

"The Heart Is A Sword" by Moonsheen. A-Su, a boy who is a sword, the emperor's weapon, is appointed personal attendant to the emperor's new consort Shen. PIDW post-canon.

Bingqiu:

"Rehearsal" by Prim_the_Amazing. Binghe, fresh from the abyss, uses a dream realm to run through all the ways his reunion with SQQ might go. This one is basically pure angst but it's SO good.

"How to Meal Prep - Household Tips, Recipes, and Ideas for a Better-Organised Life!" By x_los. Character study of 17-year-old preeminent housewife Binghe. It's cute, it's weird, and it's terribly tragic on account of the Dramatic Irony.

"Futility in Practice" by TGP. Time loop fic with a REALLY cool style of story telling. Repetitive but iterative text from Binghe, the non-looping character's POV as SQQ desperately tries to find the right answer to end the loop. Very angsty!

"it's not gay if you don't touch my ass ... unless?" by azunshi. Modern AU, SY wants to have sex with Binghe but ofc that would be gay, so instead he puts a cocksleeve up his ass for binghe to fuck instead. This fic is so deeply stupid (positive/complimentary), I love it, it's the exact brand of unhinged this whole fandom is slowlyy becoming.

"Songs of a Wayfarer" by foxflowering. Ballet AU with young prodigy LBH and his teacher SY! 

Binggeyuan:

"to find an intended (a bit unintentionally)" by nyoomerr. This is the classic. Wandering cultivator SY accidentally doms Bingge into being a good boy. 

"broken glass, swept away" by aaeph. Modern AU, SY buys a home only to find it haunted by the centuries old ghost of a demonic emperor. Bingge tries so hard to push SY away over and over, but SY is a stubborn man.

Jiuyuan:

"Jump To The Left" by ValiantBarnes (Cimila). I'm not sure quite how to describe this one without spoilers, but essentially, older Shen Yuan finds and saves SJ in the era he was following WYZ. SY takes SJ as a traveling companion/sort of disciple. CW for mentions of incest/psuedo-incest (no actual incest though).

"Immortal Shen Does Not Do Online Deliveries" by Anonymous. SY, a young cultivator and scholar, goes to ask the reclusive immoral master SQQ for an elixir. SQQ toys with him a little <3. Mean SQQ and flustered SY.

Gen/ No Ship:

"Rat Trap" by Azaisya. LQG & SJ. LQG and SJ are kidnapped, they get truth serum-ed, and they're forced to confront their different background and conflicting morals and methods that stem from that. I think this is my favorite execution of "LQG learns SJ's backstory and Has Regrets", because their conflict is explicitly framed as a class divide rather than just misunderstandings, and it addresses the flaws in both their resulting worldviews to some extent. 

"Sit With Your Soul" by Tossawary. SJ & SY. This is a fusion with His Dark Materials, but no knowledge is required. Basically everyone has an animal companion that's connected to and represents their soul, and SY transmigrates into SQQ's.

Enzo slowly came out behind the door and tip toe in way out until the key cutted the rope which had the bell on it

Enzo felt his breathing slow down, this was the end he was gonna die...it wasn't his fault..nor trinitys...then who's fault would it be it he died...

Mr. Peterson carried him towards the basement door and Enzo began to struggle more until Mr. Peterson setted him down

"Arn't you quite a mouse" Mr.Peterson

"Please let me Go I'm sorry please let me-" Enzo was cut off

"Enzo is it?..Tell me..who's idea was this?" Mr.Peterson said tilting his head

"It....It was Trinity's Idea..b..but-" Enzo responded

Enzo fell asleep a few minutes after crying by Aaron stroking Enzo's hair and Nicky's hair.

He was happy to see Enzo again, it felt good to finally have a hug from a friend that you missed...He was also happy to have Nicky here too.

All three of them would be able to have fun again just like they did before all this mess happened.

simply - think t-shirt jeans and sneakers, maybe a hoodie or something. as average guy on the street as you can imagine.

stylish - manhua ceo, anything from a nice suit to business casual to a pair of ripped jeans and a layered shirt. the sort of fit that isn't super flashy or anything but is immaculately put together. belt matches his ankle-high chelsea boots, consideration of silhouette and contrast, etc.

flashy - i want you to imagine him specifically in a leopard print t-shirt and one of those jackets with a tiger embroidered on the back. so much jewelry, bright colors, lots of patterns, leather pants but with the confidence to pull it off. he has no clue he looks like an anime mobster he just genuinely thinks it looks cool as fuck.

modestly - long flowy pants (binghe in culottes....) a nice flowy button up, some ankle boots. is he stylish or is he just hot, skinny, and tall? yes.

goth - i don't mean eboy i mean capital g goth i mean eyeliner i mean layers i mean lace and leather i mean jewelry i mean pointy-toed boots. trad goth. motherfucker looks like a vampire from the 80s

emo - smudged guyliner, fishnets, black studded denim jacket, ripped jeans and converse, a t-shirt for a band he has never heard of because he is literally from another world but he can feel a sense of kinship with the angst.

badly - 3 wolf moon t-shirt and bright blue cargo shorts. maybe something bootleg hello kitty print.

designer (good) - look i don't know about designer clothes. he's dressed nicely but in that specific way that says oh this guy doesn't look at his own bank statements. nice trousers, everything tailored to fit him how he likes, a pair of fine leather shoes, a watch that makes people who know about watches gawk a little. Things that are nicely made, things thoughtfully purchased for their fit and quality, but undeniably priced the way they are because of the name on the tag.

designer (bad) - overpriced gucci t-shirt and sneakers that are more than your paycheck and frotting against the line between ugly and cool

SO basically i am quite basic but for fav characters...

luo binghe <3 my bpd king <3 i love binghe so much it is genuinely concerning. a huge part of it come from how relatable i find him, so many times while i was reading the novels he would put words to things i had been feeling but hadn't been able to find the words or wasn't brave enough to say out loud. it is probably more concerning that i relate to that little ball of trauma but it is what it is... relatablity aside, i just also think he is such a.... precious person... i love his intensity, i love that he's a bit of a liar and a bit manipulative, i love how intelligent he is, and i love his resiliency. i wish he didn't HAVE to be resilient, i really want only good things for bingbing but i still think his strength is admirable. also his hair. he has really nice hair. and his glowing eyes. that is also a very nice quality of his. i could go on but. i will spare you...

airplane-bro, the lunatic that he is - i've said it before but airplane is the reason why i picked up svsss in the first place, i find the idea of an author trapped in their own novel just infinitely fascinating, the metaness of it, literally the metaphysical-ness of it, and i so badly wanted to see what airplane's character would be like. and then i met him. pathetic wet hamster of a man that he is. i think of all the crazy svsss characters, airplane might actually be the craziest. which kinda makes sense bc all the other characters contain part of airplane's craziness, but airplane the man himself has it all in one. of all the characters, he probably makes me laugh the most, he's just so irreverent, and the tired "over it" millennial energy is so strong with him. and then i do have a soft spot for characters that don't even realise just how strong they are, like sqh considers himself a coward, but i think he's one of the most fearless characters in the novel. anyways. i do reread the airplane extras extremely frequently.

shen..... yuan..... i had to think about this because i really like shen jiu as well and honestly for me it is a bit hard to separate them in my mind because shen jiu has such an impact on shen yuan's life as shen qingqiu, he is the definition of haunting the narrative. however ultimately, when i do separate them, i do like shen yuan's character just ever so slightly more. i do really love shen yuan as well, for as much as he frustrates me when i am reading the novel (boy let the harem thing goooooo ffs), i hold him as similarly precious as i do binghe <3 i think he is such a fundamentally good person, and similar to airplane, he really genuinely does not realise how unique he is and how much he is loved and valued by those around him. i love feeling how deeply he feels across the text, even tho he refuses to admit it out loud, i love how bitchy and bratty he gets when he's actually comfortable around someone, and i love how much he actually loves pidw (he does okay) and how excited he gets every time he meets a new character or monster, i just think it's incredibly cute. he's also insane. and if you can't tell i love insane men. (in fiction)

to round out the list it has to shen jiu, as i said up above. i think mxtx writes vilains incredibly well, and shen jiu in particular is really compelling to me. i think he is a horrible man, an incredibly sad and cruel man, and what makes him all the more compelling is that he keeps choosing to be that way. i think in pidw he is not even a foil to luo bingge and more like a direct parallel, an example of the cycle of abuse. someone was cruel to shen jiu, so he is cruel to luo bingge, and then bingge kills him. and when i say that he chooses to be cruel, it is not that i don't recognise his trauma, the way that he learned that there was no point in defending himself because no one would believe him anyways, the way that living on the streets taught him that the world was kill or be killed, that yue qi abandoning him taught him that he couldn't depend on anyone, all of that can be true, but he also had many chances to turn a new leaf to choose to be better, but he was so trapped and so hurt that he couldn't. i find him interesting to think about, i find it interesting to try and explain the enigma that is shen jiu. and i also really like imagining aus where somehow, by some miracle, he makes a different choice.

as for my top five favourite moments, this will be in no particular order, just as i think of them on the spot, if you asked me tomorrow you'd very likely get a different list because there are just so many good moments.

the moment in the holy masoleum where shen qingqiu has been dragging binghe as vines are growing out of his skin and then binghe wakes up and shen qingqiu is uncontrollably crying from pain and stress

in the extras when shang qinghua is asking bingqiu questions about their relationship and shen qingqiu soothes luo binghe's anxieties as easy as breathing

luo binghe's "as long as you don’t leave me" line (AND THEN SQQ DOES!!! SCREAMING)

every single second of airplane’s extra but especially the last line "it was just that he very much liked this story he’d written" i’m tearing up thinking about it now

white lotus bunhe pretending to be clumsy so shen qingqiu would hold him

Hey there!

Ah hmm that's an interesting question, I've never thought about it actually. I like bingqiu a lot, but I never considered it as falling in love with the ship? They're a fun ship to play with and they have a wide range that's pretty flexible so I'm always in my comfort zone drawing them.

I suppose most of the art I draw for bingqiu are a love letter to them, though. And I think that's pretty telling of my brain rot for them 😂

I think the food the fandom cooked up really helped a lot. SV fic writers are on a whole other plane of existence when it comes to analyzing binghe's character and filling in on his journey of healing with sqq by his side. I'm the annoying type of audience that gets bored when the main couple gets together at the end...so when scum villain ended the way it did, mxtx may as well have german suplexed me on the concrete. scum villain is a story that subverts its tropes left and right and the ending was no exception! I love that bingqiu getting together at the end was not an automatic happily ever after, but rather, they still are putting in the work and effort to understand and stay in each other's lives. The glimpse of that path we get in the extras really did solidify my desire to see how bingqiu will continue to stay together--bingmei vs bingge extra was probably the finishing blow for me tho lmao. I couldn't stop thinking about what the heck happened to bingge after he left the sv world that I read a bunch of fics about him and needed to soothe the angst with sv bingqiu

on a side tangent, bingqiu parallels another of my all time ship, nozomizo from liz and the blue bird. mild spoilers if you haven't seen liz, but nozomizo had a similar codependent relationship that needed them both to grow apart as individuals in order to stay together. bingqiu separated unwillingly and binghe's growth as an individual was fueled by betrayal, despair, and that dying glimmer of hope that maybe, maybe shizun could accept him now that they're equals. but they don't. because binghe still hasn't emotionally grown to get past his temper tantrums (thanks xin mo) and sqq is still failing binghe by constantly misunderstanding him. but bingqiu still choose each other, choose to love and support each other, and they refuse to be separated again. whereas nozomizo was a healthy separation with a promise of reunion, bingqiu was fighting through the muddy trenches with a vague hope that the other is reaching out their hands too. i thought it was neat how differently both ships handled their codependency that still guarantees a happy ending, no matter how dirty and bruised they got along the way.

I also think sqq's compassionate narration in regards to binghe's suffering got to me lmao. He truly does care for binghe, and even if naysayers argue it's not romantic, it's undeniable that binghe is special to sqq. although not the best choices, most if not all of his choices were for binghe's best interest (thanks system). sqq had so much heart for binghe that it affected me through the screen too. binghe's abandonment issues and fake wet tears have captivated me. his gap moe as a chuuni emo demonic overlord and wife with a maidenly glass heart has bewitched me body and soul. i want luo binghe to be happy so badly!!

i think that's why bingqiu fascinates me. most of the bingqiu arts i draw are like slice of life vignettes, so without the meat and bones of fanfic diving into bingqiu's messiness, i would not have ascended to this level of brain rot for them...
