A GRAND PASSION THAT WILL NEVER BE?! A GRAND PA—?!??? So glad someone decided to ruin my life and realize their grand passion for each other because wowowowowowowowowowowow. It makes sense now - if they couldn’t have them making out and openly consummating the relationship, if they wanted a slow burn, they had to get really creative at showing that grow and grow and thus we get waltzing and innuendo and GOD. This whole thing seems like a natural & accidental masterpiece.

Okay mfmm friends, I have a very serious question. I’ve been doing a bit of research about the book and from all of the descriptions book jack and book phryne are simply friends. Jack stays married and has a couple of kiddos. I can’t find anything about a flirtationship or romantic overtures between them.

So my question is who’s idea was the romantic overtones and relationship for the tv show? Was it planned by the writers from the start. Like typical cop/civilian banter and eventual relationship a la caskett or boothbrennan etc.

Was it just a chemistry thing? Like nate and essie have such ridiculous chemistry that not playing to that would seem like obvious avoidance?

Or was it a choice nathan made right from thw begining. Like after they shot the pilot he jusr knew jack and was like jack’s in love with phryne and proceeds to make the biggest heart eyes at her everytime they’re in a scene together and the writers try to fight it at first but then essie realizes her char. Is in love with jack and the writers throw up thier hands and just give in and spend the rest of the show giving us the scenes with the MOST ust and romantic tension?

Has anybody ever even cared? Am i just weird for being curious?
