Liminal spaces?? The distortion, is that you?? 👀👀👀
Tumblr media
Today I learned where Liminal Space terminology came from.
Architectural hunger, huh? 👀
Time distortions eh? 👀
A soulless fairground?? Wait wasn't there a tma episode that had one of those?? I just woke up, I might be wrong.
Tumblr media
Lights in the dark??? Glowing mist?? Wait... mist... the lonely?? 👀
This sounds like a combination of the distortion & the lonely to me.
A tall woman you say? HELEN???? 👀👀👀
Tumblr media
Inviting you inside?!?! Real distortion type energy. 👀 Wish she'd invite me inside. 🥺
"You are here, stay a while!" Helen or whoever, don't mind if I do. 🤭
"her rictus grin stayed as wide as ever" yeah that seems about right.
Who is cooking inside the distortion? 😩 lmao
Tumblr media
Bro walked into the AI generated restaurant.
Jujutsu Kaisen domain expansion uncanny restaurant, stay a while!
"It don't bite- yes it do!"
100% feels like the spiral tried to eat him.
Tumblr media
I love Alice's sass. 💜
Contractors?? 👀
"Assuming any of us are still here by then." Hey, don't say that.
Gwen, not everything is about work. 🙄
Sam & Celia left without signing out? Uh-oh.
Gerry?! 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 HUH?? HOW???
Why is he so cheery? Lobotomy archives canon? /j
Gigi..???? 👀
GERTUDE?!?!
That silence was deafening. Gifted kids program?? 👀
"I don't think Gerry can help you." "Yeah I barely remember any of it."
"Asking me what books I like to read."
Someone isn't saying something or disclosing something they could be, it feels like.
"Other than just sitting around with a bunch of other kids in a room that smelled like old books."
Were they trying to create avatars? 👀👀👀
That painting is going to be important. 👀
"It was my idea, remember?" Of course it was Celia, you know so much about so much. (Question is, why do you know?)
"maybe you can help me with my mystery?" Celia?? 👀
"I’m trying to look into… Weird physics stuff: time travel, other dimensions, teleportation, all that good stuff." HUH?!? 👀👀👀
"Then yeahh. I'm doing a favor for Georgie." I don't buy it.
Tumblr media
Wait, What The Ghost exists still or exists in a new universe?? 👀👀👀 Georgie?! 👀

The Ghost of Achilles
"Achilles is said to have appeared once to a merchant who frequented the island [of Leuke], relating to him what had occurred in Troy while entertaining him with drink, and he ordered him to sail to Ilion and bring him back a particular Trojan maiden, who was a slave to a certain man in Ilion.
The guest was astonished at the command, and boldly asked Achilles why he needed a Trojan slave. Achilles answered, "Because, my guest, she is from the same line as Hektor and his ancestors, and is the last of the blood of the children of Priamos and Dardanos." Of course, the merchant thought Achilles was in love, and after he bought the maiden he sailed back to the island.
Achilles praised the merchant and ordered him to keep the maiden for him on the ship (I suppose because no women where allowed on the island), but to come to the sanctuary that evening and feast sumptuously with him and Helen. When he came, Achilles gave him many things merchants are unable to resist, and said he considered him his guest friend, and granted him a prosperous voyage and fair sailing.
At daybreak Achilles said, "Now take these things and sail away, but leave the girl on the shore for me." They had not yet gone a stade away from land when the girl‘s screaming struck them—Achilles was tearing her apart, and ripping her limb from limb." (Philostratus. On Heroes 56. 6-10)

I’m upset that succession only took a little bit of inspiration from festen instead of stealing everything from it— like yeah they got the same shaky camera, the dramatic life changing speeches, fucked up sibling relationships, insane family drama but… we didn’t get to see roman roy beat the shit out of logan in front of his family and that’s why I think festen will always be superior

So you know this section of the Cypria fragment synopsis:
The Greeks take up their dead and send envoys to the Trojans demanding the surrender of Helen and the treasure with her. The Trojans refusing, they first assault the city, and then go out and lay waste the country and cities round about. After this, Achilles desires to see Helen, and Aphrodite and Thetis contrive a meeting between them. The Achaeans next desire to return home, but are restrained by Achilles, who afterwards drives off the cattle of Aeneas, and sacks Lyrnessus and Pedasus and many of the neighbouring cities, and kills Troilus. — Proclus, Chrestomathia, i
I am endlessly curious how that meeting between Achilles and Helen went down and what they talked about.
Especially with the implication that after meeting her he stops the Achaeans from returning home and has gained some new motivation to fight (and kill).

Helen Ackley and Her Family
‪This circa-1890 Victorian style home looks nothing short of idyllic. Perched right on the Hudson River in Nyack, New York, this dwelling hides a dark secret. The abode has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and three poltergeists. Yes, this picturesque home is haunted and has even been legally declared haunted in a court case!
‬ ‪For over 20 years, Helen Ackley and her family lived in the home. In 1977, Helen went to the Reader’s Digest to relay some odd occurrences they had experienced. However, none of the paranormal experiences could be considered terrifying. The poltergeists were friendly, she contended. For example, her grandchildren were gifted with trinkets which would eventually disappear. She also claimed her daughter didn’t need an alarm as an unseen force would shake her bed each morning when she was scheduled to be awake. Furthermore, the family frequently heard disembodied whispers and whispers.‬ ‪
‬ ‪When Helen went to sell her house, she didn’t mention the haunting to her buyer, Jeffrey M. Stambovsky. As Helen had been in several newspapers relaying her story, Jeffrey soon found out and took her to court. The case became known as the“Ghostbusters Ruling,” and later became taught in U.S. law school classes. Ultimately, Jeffrey for half of his deposit back and left the haunted mansion for good. Helen had no problem selling her house afterwards. The new owners never reported any paranormal activity; during the lawsuit against Helen, she confessed that she would be taking the ghosts with her when she moved from the haunted home along the Hudson River!‬

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the mother of the Ouija board, Helen Peters Nosworthy. She was born on this day, September 19, 1851. She was discovered by Robert Murch after he read letters in the Baltimore Sun from founders of the Ouija board. It was Helen who asked the board what it wanted to be named in April 1890. The board spelled out O-U-I-J-A. When she asked the board what it meant, it responded with “Good luck.”

On September 22, 2018, the Talking Board Historical Society dedicated a monument to Helen’s grave in Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, celebrating her contributions to the Ouija board.

I've read that madness is present when everything you see and hear takes on an equal significance. A dead bird makes you cry, and so does a doorknob. This morning I was not mad. The only thing significant to me in all the world was the creaking upstairs.
