Movie #1,073 • TGI-HITCHCOCK!
Tumblr media
EVERY OTHER FRIDAY I’M REVIEWING THE COMPLETE WORKS OF ALFRED HITCHCOCK IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
Tumblr media
This was the best Hitchcock movie yet! And not just because there's over two dozen title drops. IDK I was just vibing with this story and you're in and out in under 80 minutes. Hope this is a turning point of sorts. Also, shout-out to a fellow GoutHead and GoutHeads everywhere.

And the Logie Award for Best Fanpage in 1989 and 2025 goes to… me! 😉🌟
.
.
It’s not just Dale Jennings who got to hold his Logie Award, but also myself and Mum too! I just adore this photo. It was the first photo taken of me in the newsroom, and I was so very excited!

The Logie Award is not the only interesting thing to see in Dale’s office, however. It’s a roomy space which Dale can spread out in, and truly has undergone so much transformation over the three seasons since starting off as Geoff Walters’. Slowly but surely Dale has made it his own, as seen in my season by season screenshots and these unit stills! In such a beautiful mirror to the events of the series, I first approached the door, handbag clutched nervously in hand, and I truly felt like Val Jennings when Helen showed her what used to be Geoff’s office in Season One. I really channelled Val’s nervous excitement in this moment, except now the wall of awards belongs to her son! 😍🌟

Dale’s Logie is cosily tucked away on Dale’s shelves, right by a small collection of his taped stories on VHS. He has constantly done this throughout the series, and as Michael Lucas and I scanned the shelf, we noted that one crucial one was missing; Paul Hogan’s Australian Of The Year speech! Would you believe, we both blurted this out loud simultaneously. It was like we were sharing a brain wave, and it wouldn’t be the first time that day. Turns out our brains work in very similar ways, so it therefore seems fitting we got to spend time together; something that I will treasure forever.

In early plans for the series, the first season was set to be eight episodes long. One of the news stories that sadly had to be cut when the season was cut back to six episodes was that of the Weeping Woman theft from the National Gallery of Victoria. The infamous art heist took place in August 1986, and took Melbourne and the art world by storm! Dale has the front cover of The Sun displaying the story hanging on his wall in the office’s furthest corner from the door, replacing Geoff’s Lindy Chamberlain article. A beautiful nod to a story he and Helen might have covered, and to the episode that never was 📰
