SHORT SUMMARY

Ashley Darling is arrested by the FBI and works out a deal to be a CI for their Art Crime’s Unit in D.C., with a tracking anklet instead of a prison cell. While she’s unwillingly in bed with the feds, her partner in crime and life shows up, and so does an old enemy who wants them both dead. Ashley has to work three sides as she is invited to work on her enemy’s crew to pay her debts, has to keep her unknowing partner away from him and out of prison, and help the FBI arrest the crew and her partner.

You honestly can’t remember how you got here.

You and your three best friends are quickly becoming the most elusive robbers in Detroit, and you’re hardly out of your teens.

And now that the four of you are out of high school, you’ve had all the freedom you could ever dream of!

…That is, until the police get a little too close to your crimes for comfort. So, now all of you have to pack your bags and head off to college to avoid looking suspicious. Burglary would look awful on your record, after all.

Their teasing and flirtatious remarks are seldom genuine, and their flighty and indecisive attitude leads to some regrettable moments. No one really knows who they are.

POLICE FORCE

T Seniloli is a new member of the police department, and their lofty ambitions tend to blind their good judgement. To them, you and your group are their enemies, and they are hellbent on capturing you. They tend to wear their emotions on their sleeve. In fact, their delusions are kind of… funny. Maybe cute.

At one point Cady walks in on Janis wearing a crop top and low slung jeans and she's like "oh"

Cady and Janis watch the stars from the viewing deck. Cady has a moment similar to the show about how she loves stars because they remind her she's not alone

Janis has an incredibly badass scene of running through a dangerous setpiece to set a fuse right and reignite the shields

hi guys i need help finding this book i once saw which i don’t remember the title or the author of but i vaguely remember what the cover looked like. it was a dark colour (i think navy blue) and the title was in the middle of the cover and it was reflected below as if it was a mirror image. i believe the book was about art (specifically art heists i think).

ahb question here. so I know reg loved anna karenina, and as someone who's just read it because of ahb (yes, I did put little hearts around Vronskys name, I'm only human) was the story heavily influenced by the book or were any characters/character arcs effected in any way by anna karenina, because it's been on my mind alot? are there any like references or was it just a book reg read and enjoyed??

ahh hello! i've been sitting on this ask for a minute and i'm finally getting around to it!! it gets ramble-y under the cut!

so as for as direct parallels between art heist and anna karenina there aren't really any? but there are some generalizations that can be made if that makes sense.

the idea of forgiveness is what made me pick anna karenina to be be regulus' favorite novel in ahb. bc a lot of the novel and it's resolutions hinge on the willingness of the reader and the characters to forgive. (us forgiving anna for being an adulterer and splitting up families, dolly forgiving stiva for being an adulterer, levin forgiving kitty's prior treatment of him, karenin forgiving anna when she thinks she's dying, vronsky forgiving anna's paranoid and jealous outbursts, etc. etc.) and sometimes that forgiveness leads to good things (looking @ u levin and kitty) and sometimes, it's used to ignore reality (dolly forgiving stiva and pretending like he's not still stepping out on her). even the parts of anna karenina that are quotes in ahb! are abt forgiveness "if you forgive, you forgive completely"

a lot of the characters in ahb! need forgiveness for their actions. but esp regulus. he feels like he needs to be forgiven. for sirius, for the way he's lived his life, for putting the people he loves in harm's way but not knowing anything else. but he also wants vengeance and he wants to lash out at the people (sirius) who have hurt him rather than forgive. so he finds this theme in anna karenina very relatable. as ahb! progresses, sirius and regulus work towards forgiveness, but it arguably blinds sirius into remembering the real dangers of the heist world. he uses this idea of brotherly forgiveness and family reconciliation as a shield from reality and only remembers to snap back into the dangerous reality once it's too late.

but there is no "regulus is anna karenina and james is vronsky" or "barty follows levin's storyline" or anything like that!
