NEW VIDEO UP! 📢 I am not really a fan of videographer. At times like this, I want to make a change. A lot of artists like you and me are constantly under a battle within ourselves and the world. We are often misunderstood or sometimes being told that "Art can't make a living". Now I tell myself, should I change? Art is my true calling, I'm not going to change that. I can't stay in my usual chirpy character here anymore because I find it so tiring to pretend that I'm fine. So here I am, changing to help myself and you, to see that you can also have the right to change yourself to help your artistic talents to shine. ♥️ This piece is the first installment of Lunar Accords, hosted by @byloishannah, @nadiarausa, @artchiu and @ire.ma I wanted to explore art nouveau drawing with Japanese elements to it. The keywords for this piece are "lunar eclipse" and "shadow". I drew a Shadow Empress, dressed in white kimono with dark navy shades. I feel great to take this challenge because it allows me to explore my capabilities as an illustrator, and also expand my horizon to explore new styles and colours. Day 7: 水 (Water) We know about the 4 elements: water, earth, fire and air. Technically, there are 5 elements in Taoism practice known as Wuxing (literally means “five elements”). These elements are: water, earth, fire wood and metal. Water is the fifth stage in Wuxing; the most Yin in character of the 5 elements and its energy is conserving. In Taoism, water is the symbol of wisdom, intelligence and flexibility. However, the overabundance of the element is the cause of indecisiveness. The colours associate with water are black, blue and grey. Well, aren’t I lucky? "Melusine" 5.8 x 8.3 inch, ink Melusine is a spirit of fresh water, often depicted as a woman who is a serpent or fish from waist down in the European folklore. She is also illustrated with wings, two tails or both. A tale says that Melusine is a daughter of a fairy named Presseyne and Elynas, the King of Albany. There is a condition between this union of a fairy and a mortal, that he must never enter her chamber when she birthed or bathed her children. One day the king broke his promise causing Presseyne and her children left him. The same pattern appears in other stories where Melusine marries a nobleman only after he promised to give her privacy in her bath and each time she leaves him after he breaks that oath. Side note: Melusine got the most complex composition among the series. I kept changing the composition and her facial expressions to illustrate a first person view of Melusine's husband which he discovers her true form. This is the final installment of the Mermay series. Christmas fan art challenge #1: If you know who she is then you're a true Monster High fan! I first heard about Monster High was through a newspaper article. I fell in love with the characters as they are VERY unusual for Barbies. Honestly, I haven't done fan art for so long! This idea came to mind that I have to illustrate it immediately. I usually would paint over the line work; now I decided to give this artwork a mixture of cute and cuddly treatment. This challenge really had me unleashed my creepy cute style!
