The scenery was so you. Bright, flowery, perfect. Everything had been meticulously planned out, he watched it in real time. The rehearsal dinner went off without a hitch, and even Steve was in awe of the the wedding planner crew that you had insisted on hiring. Including under his own leadership, he’s never seen a team work that seamlessly.

The weather was good, too. Not excessively hot or cold. Just like how you had told him you wanted it to be years ago as the two of you laid, holding each other close under the stars. The same night you first said you loved each other.

Steve stood at the end of the aisle in his suit, clearing his throat as his eyes began to mist. From next to him, Bucky patted his back and gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze as the bridal music began.

The second you were in his sight, you were a dream. White dress like a fairy tale, flowing in the wind behind you, veil fluttering in the same majestic way. Your bouquet was flawless, just like everything else, as you took steps to the beat of the music, looking out to the sides at your friends and family, locking eyes with him as you approached the alter. It was like watching an angel march towards him to offer eternal heaven, a lifetime with you.

Except once you got to Steve’s side, you kept going. Your polite smile moved past him, up the few steps underneath the flowering arch, to hold hands with your fiancé, where you truly beamed. A beautiful June bride, just like you always said, but not his. Not anymore.
