“Me..!? I’ve caught your eye?” Aqua did seem to be rather popular at the ball that evening... Perhaps she shouldn’t have been so surprised when such a gesture was made towards her. But, she couldn’t tell if her friend was simply teasing her or not... In any case, she wanted Anya to join in the festivities and have fun! Simply standing around sipping at the punch wasn’t a very good time... Deciding that she would rebuke with a tease of her own, the Master took a deep breath, before offering a kind smile -- and her hand -- to the other. “Then... May I have the next dance, Anya? It’s not much of a ball if you don’t dance at least once.”

It’s not that she’s following her, no matter how Chirithy likes to tease.  It’s not like that.  It’s just that --- they often end up in the same places.  And why shouldn’t they?  They’re both wielders, after all.

The difference is that, this time, she’s been caught watching --- oh!  Green eyes widen and fair cheeks darken and she looks down but it’s too late.  She’s been caught.  Scramble for something to say!!  Anything!!  “Y - You’re hair is really pretty!”  Not that!

Are you okay ?! ❞ Sora leaps to her side, hands clasped around the handle. ❝ Need a hand ? ❞

       To say Niko was intrigued was an understatement. Wide pink eyes fixated on the girl’s green hair with wonder. He had never seen such a shade before! How pretty! 

      “Woooow...” Niko breathed in awe. “I love your hair!”

OH MY. THIS WAS                    unexpected. lips parted in muted surprise, golden orbs glowing ever so slightly ; lauriam was asking her on a date. (  internally, she had been expecting something more extravagant, with flowers  &.  perhaps even a serenade. not that she wanted one  ). this wasn’t the lauriam that was normally portrayed, the smooth (  ish  )talker who showered people with flowers  &.  sweet words. this was the same boy she saw fall into the fountain, who stumbled his words  &.  blushed a sweet red when embarrassed.

this was the lauriam that she liked.

cheeks were flushed a delicate red, silent just for a moment as she thought about her answer. it was an obvious one really but watching him squirm was fun. he truly was adorable. a date with lauriam huh ? lips quirked into a soft smile, head tilting slightly to look up at him ; oh, he wasn’t even meeting her gaze. ❝  sure. i’d be happy to go on a date with you, lauriam.  ❞

   IF LAURIAM WAS going to be honest with himself, he did not think at all that Anya would agree. I mean, they were friends! Friends who teased each other, and would hang out all the time (regardless of Union) and sometimes she’d kiss his cheek and-- OH!! This was too embarrassing for him! His face was absolutely red, matching his pink hair, maybe even darker to match a red rose. The poor child couldn’t even meet her gaze because he was too embarrassed. 

   “Y-You would?” Finally he met her gaze. Blinking at her. The gold in her eyes shimmering making Lauriam get even softer. His gut was doing a twirl. “I mean-- Great!” He perked up like a plant getting some water, still red, his body slightly shaking from nerves. “That’s... great!” He knew a spot, he knew several, but to where? He seriously didn’t think he’d get this far. Should he take her out for lunch? The beach? Oh, perhaps one of the local museums! But that would be awkward. Maybe a fair? Oh, maybe the clocktower! He knew a nice place! But what if that was too many stairs. Pick someplace!!!! 

   “What day is best for you? I know a nice place south of town....”

      ♡  —  Anya… Lips, oh how the pair parted to speak, but no sound came out. A soft exhale all there was to be, as vulpine mask turned downwards; head bowing as g u i l t swarmed both mind & soul. The Dandelions, the children who had been thrust into a warzone at an age much to young; how she mourned the childhood innocence lost to this grief, this darkness that was racing towards them all. Led by loyalty, budding rage, a longing for lux; no child deserved this fate. No child should have to face the terror of the battlefield, but what could she do? What could she do, but play her role in this performance of death.

     You deserve better, was what her despairing heart screamed apologized, though all that came was a whisper. But a breath of air, to fly with the wind. Hushed, could she even hear her? Did it matter? “ One day… children like you will be able to smile freely… without the threat of war looming over your hearts… That is what I believe. “

      Sure the Heartless and Nobodies technically listened to him now but that wasn’t going to stop Sora from taking them out now and then. How else was he supposed to keep his skills sharp? He tried to pick a more secluded spot away from people, not wanting to accidentally hurt anyone, but would seem as if luck wasn’t on his side. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed one of the Dusks he missed wiggling its way towards a girl. 

      Needless to say he went running after the Dusk, keyblade in hand before it could attack.

      “Hey!! Watch out!”

It’s like a bullet through the heart. For a moment, Aqua felt her breath tear away from her chest. For a moment, Aqua’s fading heart crashed against her ribs. For a moment, Aqua felt so alive. And then she stared at that girl, that girl who had refused to leave her mind even when they were apart, and she continued  staring. Had she heard her right? Was she imagining those words that spilled from pursed lips like honey? There was a heat in her cheeks, and a thrum in her chest. 

Slowly, those words sank in. 

Anya’s heartfelt gaze spoke more than words ever could. 

They were real. She meant every single one. 

She deluded herself. 

The young Master felt a sting in the corners of her eyes, and a sudden sob wretched from her throat as she turned away. That moment of joy was obliterated by guilt and shame. Both hands were held so tightly to her chest, as if trying to keep her heart from bursting, and she shook her head fiercely, flinging those tears that had begun streaming down her cheeks. “A-Anya, how-…”

How could she love what didn’t exist?

There was no brightness left in her. Her light had been all but snuffed out… For so long, all she knew was darkness, and it was in that blackest of abysses where she was consumed. Utterly, wholly consumed. Not even Sora’s radiant light was enough to save her. Not entirely. Darkness crept through her heart and her mind, like inky tendrils strangling whatever light she had left. And as time marched ever on, she could feel those tendrils grasping more and more… 

“I won’t have any light left…” She choked, shuddering and trembling as sobs wracked her body. Her heart felt as if it was tearing apart in her chest, no matter how tightly she pressed her hands against it, and so they rocketed to her head, dark blue locks coiled between those slender digits. “I’m getting worse every day, I can feel it..! I… I try to find others… hearts full of light… They… they’re enough, sometimes, but…”

It was difficult to breath. Her eyes and throat burned, and as those sobs continued shaking her to the very core, she fell to her knees. Her arms curled up and over her head as she fell forward, so small… so devastated. Her heart was dying, that’s what she thought. Was she just delaying the inevitable by exposing herself to those pure, light-filled souls? They chased away the shadow clouding her own… but, any moment she was alone again… any moment where she gave in to fear, anger, negativity, it returned. Over, and over again… Her voice was barely more than a whimper. Such a pitiful thing. “It won’t stop…”

Green eyes wide and body stiff, freckled face taken by surprise.  Her cheeks and ears are turning a truly impressive shade of pinkish red, hands half - raised in what must be shock.  And yet curled across the girl’s mouth is a SMILE, wide and delighted and happy in a way that looks almost overwhelming upon her face.  Strelitzia giggles, a shocked sound, when Anya ducks her head against her shoulder.

“Ah — Anya!”  She’s laughing and flushing and has never felt so much at once like she’s going to sink into herself and like she’s going to FLY.  Still, she manages enough courage to tilt and turn her face to press a kiss in return to the other’s head.

      -- " ...? ” Whoops. At some point you’re just massive enough to bump into people and things without noticing. For a second he nearly doesn’t until something makes him stumble just a little. A blink behind his ursae mask and he looks at the wielder with a moment’s silence to let reality catch up.

She caught him in a bit of a daze of sorts. Too much clouding his thoughts to even move about it seemed. Perhaps he did look a little intimidating starring down in silence for long moments before he can think to say something. He clears his throat.

“ At ease. ” This wielder although familiar didn’t seem to be from his own Union. Doesn’t mean he won’t spare a teacher’s word anyways. “ Make sure to always be aware of your surroundings even in the comfort of Daybreak. Heartless and enemies alike are crafty you know. ”
