Remind yourself these things! Mine are definitely focused around not being productive and how it’ll make me feel bad, but I have to realize that taking time for myself and my own mental well-being is far more valuable and meaningful than sacrificing my own self through constantly running the rat race of our modern society.
I also think not putting a time limit on emotions is important too, especially when I was raised by parents who would say enough is enough when I’d have depressive episodes. Emotions need to be felt and there must be a healthy plan of action, or simple baby steps that’ll allow you to achieve stability. Therapy helps a lot with these thought patterns! Dbt and all or nothing thinking is a huge cognitive distortion is a primary case for these thoughts I have, but I’m working through them :) Yall aren’t alone when dealing with mental health recovery and stopping bad coping skills.
The last statement in this post also reassures me that I am not slow or dumb for not completing everything anyone else is doing, because you can only do so much, our paces are different, and also neurodiversity plays a part too (although we all are hella wonderful in our own ways!)
I hope these little notes remind you that you’re genuinely not alone, that the world needs you in it, and your negative thoughts don’t always equal your reality!
