what city you should live in based on your moon sign ⏾
astrology can help you make an informed decision for something as significant as where one will live. and especially if you are a more hedonistic person like myself, choosing a place to live with a focus on personal satisfaction is a guaranteed upgrade in quality of life. it also helps you narrow down what your true emotional needs are and live a life more in alignment with your truest self.
choosing what city to live in based on your moon sign helps an individual with emotional fulfillment, being able to create a sense of belonging, stress reduction, enhanced creativity and productivity, better romantic and platonic relationships, and so much more.
here are my thoughts on your ideal city based on your moon sign:
一
⏾ virgo moon 一
kobe, japan + washington, D.C. (USA) + zurich, switzerland
you likely prefer a clean, walkable city that is health-conscious. ideal cities have paved roads, a lack of industrial machines or well-regulated factories, and a structured, straightforward urban planning model. a city safe enough to raise babies and young children is your benchmark. you value a city that emphasizes logical aspects of life. air pollution and trash management are crucial, so you'd thrive in cities with high air quality indexes, like those mentioned above.
一
⏾ libra moon 一
florence, italy + brooklyn, new york + capetown, south africa + amsterdam, netherlands + paris, france
as one of my favorite moon signs, you truly appreciate beauty, harmony, and aesthetics in where and how you live. you love cultured cities with plenty of artistic experiences. perhaps you're an artist yourself, seeking communities where you can express that creativity. a city that offers a balance of cityscape, mountainscape, and access to bodies of water appeals to your sense of harmony. you’re drawn to colorful, multicultural environments where you can accumulate luxury goods.
一
⏾ scorpio moon 一
new orleans, louisiana + mumbai, india + providence, rhode island
this one is tricky because scorpio Moons are known for being extremely intense and private, which doesn't always translate to a livable city (think Bermuda Triangle). however, you likely value transformative experiences and a form of social power. you want to be in a city that matches your intensity—a place that might be politically involved, spiritually inclined, or even part of some controversy. communities where you can explore taboo subjects or rise within social hierarchies are ideal for you.
一
⏾ sagittarius moon 一
toronto, canada + prage, czech republic + krabi, thailand + dubai, UAE
as one of the more hedonistic moon signs, you crave freedom—to be, to do, to have, etc. you prefer cities with a lot of versatility for living, offering options like big homes, sprawling lofts, small cozy one-bedrooms, and everything in between. cultured and religious cities appeal to your belief system, which is crucial to you. You need a place where you can live your philosophies freely and have fun. a city with many opportunities for adventure and easy access to other exciting places is essential. think road trips, bungee jumping, scuba diving.
一
⏾ capricorn moon 一
london, england + manhattan, new york + melbourne, australia
one word: old-fashioned. capricorns are often seen as traditional, and there's a reason for that. as a capricorn moon, you value cities that operate like institutions—places that have stood the test of time without much change to their foundation. ambition and hard work are of utmost importance, so cities with a professional or hustle culture appeal to you. you are drawn to cities in countries with a strong identity or culture that gratify your sense of tradition. cities where you can network, accumulate wealth, and indulge in luxuries are your ideal.
一
⏾ aquarius moon 一
san francisco, california + rome, italy + new orleans, louisiana + portland, oregon
with pluto in aquarius, I anticipate more moves for aquarius moons, which is great because this is the most community-centered sign in my opinion. aquarius moons value living in cities where they can positively contribute, socialize, and build relationships based on shared interests. you are drawn to innovative, creative cities that are always ahead of trends. you also appreciate cities that are civically mindful and contribute to humanitarian efforts on both local and grand scales.
一
⏾ pisces moon 一
bali, indonesia + bora bora, french polynesia + rome, italy + paris, france
pisces moons are one of the moon signs that truly need to feel "drawn" to a place before visiting or residing there. emotional fulfillment, romance, and creativity are non-negotiable for pisces moons. because of this, beautiful, artistic cities with many opportunities to be near bodies of water are ideal. beach cities and honeymoon destinations are perfect for pisces Moons' empathic and sensitive nature. A city with a calm undercurrent is essential to satisfy your need for rest and peace.
一
⏾ aries moon 一
rome, italy + los angeles, california + tokyo, japan + cairo, egypt + mumbai, india
similar to capricorn moon, its cardinal sibling, aries moons need the opportunity to keep on the go wherever they live. For this reason, you're best suited to "cities that never sleep"—places where you can stay active, compete in major global industries, and reach newer heights. you're drawn to cities with fiery traditions and those that excel in national rankings. you also appreciate cities that are vocal about their value systems and embrace trends.
一
⏾ taurus moon 一
honolulu, hawaii + havana, cuba + las vegas, nevada + ibiza, spain + tokyo, japan
much like libra moons, venus-ruled moons love venus-ruled cities. taurus moons enjoy cities that are comfortable in every sense—materially, socially, politically, and aesthetically. you appreciate cities that are openly hedonistic—notorious vacation spots are actually great places for you to establish yourself. cities with strong tourism markets are good for your desire for material success as they are epicenters of culture and attract people from all walks of life.
一
⏾ gemini moon 一
chicago, illinois + boston, massachusetts + cairo, egypt + lisbon, portugal
as a gemini moon, cities that are versatile, education-centered, and logical are appealing to you. you thrive in places where "everyone knows everyone" and socializing is a priority. cities known for their educational institutions and vibrant social life satisfy your need for variety and communication. cities with a strong tourist presence are also appealing, as you enjoy the ability to feel like a tourist in your own city at any time.
一
⏾ cancer moon 一
sydney, australia + niagara falls , new york + instanbul, turkey + berne, switzerland + mogadishu, somalia
cancer moons love domestic cities that are more feminine in nature. Like their sister sign capricorn, they strongly value traditions, both cultural and social, but in a softer manner. they prefer cities with a strong influence by women and things traditionally associated with women, like fashion, beauty, and the arts. cities with beaches and a strong luminary presence are essential, as they are the water-bearers of the zodiac. cities with a balance between domesticity and capitalism appeal to their need for material security and a good home. a city with a strong real estate market and that is ideal for newlyweds and families is also preferred.
一
⏾ leo moon 一
los angeles, california + miami, florida + mexico city, mexico + marrakesh, morocco + ibiza, spain
much like aquarius moons, the need to be around people is prominent with leo moons. leo moons value being in cities that honor appearance and aesthetics. being seen, being talked about, romance, and play are priority for a leo moon when moving. a city where they can explore artistic pursuits and new cultures. cities that promote health and wellness and image. cities with social hierarchies and strong social networks. cities that are "popular" with the whole world. also cities that are known for night-life and social life. cities where you can regularly rub elbows with important people and indulge in the grandiosities of life.

the moon in astrology is a gateway to a deeper understanding of one's desires, needs, and motivations which can help in making better-informed decisions on where to move or establish a life. I highly suggest you take this into consideration on your next trip or relocation.

Measure 110, or the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy
So if y'all aren't local to Oregon, you may not have heard that the Oregon state legislature just voted to -- essentially -- gut Measure 110, the ballot measure which decriminalized all drug possession and use in the state. It turned all drug use into a citation instead, and the citation and fine could be waived by completing a health screening. The entire point of Measure 110 was replacing jail with health care and services to help people instead, and while I could probably write a very long side post on the imperfections of that approach, it was at the very least a move in the right direction after decades of the pathetic failure and absolutely racist mess that is the "War on Drugs."
You may hear this pointed to in coming years as a reason why we have to just throw people into jail for using drugs, because Measure 110 failed. And like... it did fail, kinda. Sorta. It failed in that it did not manage to fix everything immediately, and it created some new issues while also exposing older issues more sharply.
It also saved the state $40 million in court costs prosecuting low-level drug offenses, kept thousands of people whose literal only crime was putting a substance into the body of a consenting adult (themselves) out of jail, put at least one addiction services center in every county in the state, invested $300 million in addiction services, and an awful lot more. See the end of this post for more reading.
But where it failed, it failed because it wasn't supported. Police and advocacy groups both asked for specific tickets for this new class of offenses which had the phone number to call to go through the health screening and the information about how going through that health screening would make the ticket go away printed on it prominently - lawmakers declined to fund this. Governor Kotek budgeted $50K to train officers on how to handle these new citations and how to direct people to the treatment and housing supports, but lawmakers thought that training officers on this new law at all was a waste of money. Money moved extremely slowly out to the supports that were supposed to come into play to help people obtain treatment or get access to harm-reduction strategies. People freaked the fuck out about clean-needle outreach, fentanyl testing strip distribution, Narcan training, and other harm-reduction strategies.
And at the end of the day, Measure 110 gets called a failure because it wasn't a silver bullet. Never mind that thousands of people are not sitting in jail right now for basically no fucking reason. Never mind that people have gotten treatment, harm has been reduced, overdoses have been prevented...
So, yeah. You'll probably start hearing this trotted out as proof that, well, we triiiied decriminalizing drugs, but look what happened in Portland! Well, what happened in Oregon is that we got set up to fail, and still didn't fail, just didn't totally succeed.
Measure 110 highlights, quoted directly from Prison Policy Initiative:
The Oregon Health Authority reported a 298% increase in people seeking screening for substance use disorders.
More than 370,000 naloxone doses have been distributed since 2022, and community organizations report more than 7,500 opioid overdose reversals since 2020.
Although overdose rates have increased around the country as more fentanyl has entered the drug supply, Oregon’s increase in overdoses has been similar to other states’ and actually less than neighboring Washington’s. A peer-reviewed study comparing overdose rates in Oregon with the rest of the country after the law went into effect found no link between Measure 110 and increased overdose rates.
There is no evidence that drug use rates in Oregon have increased. A cross-sectional survey of people who use drugs across eight counties in Oregon found that most had been using drugs for years; only 1.5% reported having started after Measure 110 went into effect.
There has been no increase in 911 calls in Oregon cities after Measure 110.
Measure 110 saves Oregonians millions. Oregon is expected to save $37 million between 2023-2025 if Measure 110 continues. This is because it costs up to $35,217 to arrest, adjudicate, incarcerate, and supervise a person taken into custody for a drug misdemeanor — and upwards of $60,000 for a felony. In contrast, treatment costs an average of $9,000 per person. The money saved by Measure 110 goes directly to state funding for addiction and recovery services.
There is no evidence that Measure 110 was associated with a rise in crime. In fact, crime in Oregon was 14% lower in 2023 than it was in 2020.

So, I’m not proud of it, but I’m back to ask for help again. Above is the link to my Ko-Fi account; I can accept donations via Stripe and Paypal; I don’t have a preference of which method you use. Below is a more detailed explanation of the events that have led to my current predicament; it’s not entirely necessary to understand, but it should make sense of why this happened to me.
I’m dealing with some health problems and a recent car accident and I need help paying my bills for the next few months while I use that time to finish incomplete coursework for classes I took last year. In case it’s not clear, an “Incomplete” is a grade that can be given by instructors at some schools in situations where a student wasn’t able to complete a major assignment for a class due to circumstances outside their control, and allows students a pre-determined amount of time to finish that work beyond the end of the course. I had a plan for covering my expenses with a summer job at the Oregon State University Arthropod Collection (OSAC) while I finished the incomplete work, but the nature of my health issues, an outbreak of fleas, and a car accident have all prevented me from making it work. Now I’m kind of trapped; the cost of living in Corvallis is too high for food stamps to last an entire month, I don’t have a car anymore, and I’ll probably end up homeless if I can’t pay October rent and also pay November rent on time. I’ve managed to find some work doing landscaping and yardwork in my neighborhood, but I’ve realized that it’s impossible to make enough money and also handle the incomplete coursework; focusing on the former will impact the completion of my degree in June, while focusing on the latter will likely result in homelessness. The loss of my car is exacerbating all of this, in part because I live further away from all of the stores/banks/etc. in Corvallis, and public transit here is not very good.
Since late 2022, I’ve been experiencing sleep apnea-like health problems arising from swollen turbinate glands. I have some known allergies, but they’ve never caused swollen turbinate glands. The impact on my sleep quality became so severe that I had to resort to nasal strips every night. I saw doctors about this problem as early as spring of 2022, but none of them were helpful; most of them didn’t listen to me, and none of them considered trying any kind of testing. This ineptitude continued even after directly asking my primary doctor about autoimmune conditions and how we could test for them. Despite how obviously informative blood samples can be, nobody suggested a blood test. I finally lost my patience and demanded they give me a blood test for hypothyroidism at the end of August. Lo and behold, my thyroid hormone levels were an order of magnitude out of the normal range. Autoimmune problems run in my mother’s family, and it’s likely that I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis; this disease is rarer in men, and the symptoms appear very gradually. While I can understand how this would delay detection of the disease, there were FIVE different doctors who saw me in relation to the sleep/allergy problems and none of them considered a blood test. I started taking levothyroxine the same day as the test results, but before being treated, my symptoms became so severe that my ADHD medication stopped working, my OCD symptoms went out of control, and I was experiencing severe brain fog. This is what forced me to request incomplete grades for my courses; I was trying to complete coursework despite all of this, and I was barely able to keep up. Once treatment begins, it takes at least a month to take effect, so my symptoms didn’t start improving until early October. Most recently, I found out that I needed to increase my dosage, but thyroid problems often have complex consequences, and any changes to the dose of the medication will result in unwanted side effects.
My original plan for this summer was to work at OSAC to cover my expenses while I tackled the incomplete coursework. I calculated the gross income I’d need to meet my expenses, and working 30 hours a week at this position well exceeded that amount. My duties as a curatorial assistant change slightly depending on the tasks at hand, but because I am paid from grant money, I must work efficiently, accurately, and in an organized manner. Because I have ADHD, extra measures are necessary in order to meet these requirements. I’ve worked this job intermittently since 2018, so I know how prevent my ADHD symptoms from interfering with my work. Because of the failures by my doctors to address my health problems, I was already struggling to arrive at work on time by June. By July, my symptoms had worsened to the point that I was no longer able to focus on work consistently, voluntarily cutting some days short because I wasn’t accomplishing much, and continuing to work in that state was inherently a waste of grant money. By August I could only make it to work sporadically. As a result, I missed most of the income I could have earned for August and September of this year. I was able to make up for some of this impact by selling old trading cards and video games from childhood, but that money didn’t last very long.
I was also confronted with a flea infestation that suddenly appeared in August. I rent a bedroom in a house with housemates; we tried to eradicate them ourselves, but the landlord suddenly informed us in early September that he hired an exterminator, who was arriving in less than 24 hours. I have some pet reptiles and pet invertebrates I needed to protect from pesticide exposure, so I suddenly had to move my pets to a friend’s house. I also had to re-arrange my bedroom to accommodate the exterminators. Based on the chemicals that were used, the only way I could make room safe again for my pets was by mopping the floor in my bedroom and the adjacent hallway three times. This ultimately cost me four days, and then the exterminators came back in early October, which forced me to repeat the process.
As if this wasn’t enough, I had a serious car accident in late September that annihilated my car and left me with severe lacerations to my left arm and a fracture in my thumb. The car spun out and flipped in the process, landing in the opposite lane. If another car had been about to pass me, it would have caused a direct collision at around 55 mph, and I probably wouldn’t have survived that. I realized the danger immediately and crawled out of the car, but most of the other possible outcomes would have involved my demise. I’m very lucky, but it took almost a month for the lacerations to heal, and one of them was deep enough to cause nerve damage, which hasn’t completely healed yet. My left hand has healed enough for me to use it, but I’m still having some issues with my thumb.
I wish I could say that I had help from my family, but my parents were impacted by both of the recent hurricanes that made landfall in western Florida. Even before the hurricanes, my parents weren’t really willing to understand what I was dealing with. I grew up in an abusive household; my sister and I were neglected by our parents, and we experienced emotional abuse from them as young adults. This is particularly true of my father, who himself is the product of a highly abusive upbringing. Unfortunately, research on the dynamics of child abuse has shown that children from abusive households often suffer a lack of economic mobility relative to children from more supportive family backgrounds as a result of mental health impacts. This has absolutely been the case with my sister and I; both of us are well into our 30s, and neither of us is anywhere close to long-term financial stability. That’s why it was deeply hurtful to hear my father blame me for being unable to fly to Florida on a whim to help him clean up the house, blame me for paying $950 a month for rent, and shame me for being 35 years old without a “stable job”. Both of my parents visited me in Corvallis in late July; they could tell that I was struggling, they apologized for neglecting me, and they told me they’d be more supportive, but apparently everything they said to me then must have been an act.
Hopefully, this explanation sufficiently articulates the situation I’ve ended up in. I almost have enough money to pay my October rent, and I need to have my November rent paid by 11/5. I would have tried using Ko-Fi sooner, but in the interest of upholding my own responsibility, I wanted to exhaust my other options before resorting to donations again

Oregon Elder Illegally Imprisoned By His Legal Guardian
For those at the back of the room, here is a quick recap of the story of my old buddy Maynard Orme.
In January a friend and I visited Maynard at his assisted living facility near Portland. We found him uncharacteristically miserable. His finances were in crisis despite having a conservator in charge and he told us that he had not been able to visit his daughter and grandkids for Christmas. He was very upset and not in good health. We checked that there was no legal restriction on his travel and arranged for his trip to California. We subsequently learned more about how badly his medical state and his finances had been managed by his conservator and caretaker; treatment that was abusive, neglectful, and manipulative of an 87 year old elder.
Once in California, he was happy as a clam with his family and his physical and mental state has improved dramatically. I’ve been to visit him regularly from January and, when I saw him a few days ago in Los Angeles, he was more spritely than I had seen him in months since his daughter has been looking after him. We asked him about his new residence and his new girlfriend and he said "I love it here. It doesn’t get any better than this"
But his guardian and former caretaker had other plans.
This week, the day after I saw him, they arrived at his residence with a court order and spirited him back to Oregon.
We don’t know what they told him, whether he agreed to go with them, or how they got back. They left behind his cell phone and his clothes and personal possessions; such was the haste in which he was removed. His attorney in Oregon was as surprised as anyone as he had not been informed of their plans and was not even informed when his client was back in Oregon.
But we do know where he was taken.
Maynard is now back at the assisted living facility in Charbonneau from which he escaped but, when friends show up to see him, he is “not taking visitors” on orders from his guardian and her lawyer. He was apparently interviewed by law enforcement upon his return for reasons that were not disclosed but he could not have been provided assistance of counsel.
His lawyer then tried to visit Maynard at his new residence but he too was denied entry. He was referred to the guardian and then her lawyer who gave orders to prevent him visiting his client.
Outrage Level Turned up to ELEVEN.
A US citizen is being jailed by a fiduciary professional and her lawyer. Even an arraigned murderer would not be denied assistance of counsel. In what world can one lawyer refuse to allow an opposing lawyer access to his client? This is insanity.
I bet there’s something in the US Constitution that covers this.
When the guardian and her lawyer are acting “in colour of law” by waving a court order, they are taking on the authority of the state; like carrying a badge or wearing a black jacket with FBI across the back. But, guess what, law enforcement would not get away with this bullshit.
Maynard is being denied his basic civil rights by a out-of-control guardian under guidance from a conflicted lawyer; the two of them are running amok.
The facility in which Maynard is now imprisoned and the caretaker that IS allowed to see him, have both demonstrated a track record of neglect and abuse - financial, mental, and medical. Neither his friends, family, or lawyer are now allowed to talk to him. We have no idea of how he is being treated, of what he is being told, or how he is being threatened.
This isolation is seriously compounding the abuse of this respected Portland elder for reasons that are hard to fathom.
How it Started: How it’s Going.
This whole adventure started with a pleasant lunch and an arranged flight for Maynard to see his family and enjoy their mutual love and caring in sunny Los Angeles. Joy was restored to Maynard's life.
It has now turned into an extra-judicial nightmare with an inconceivable level of fear and darkness for Maynard and his family who are beside themselves with worry. A crisis driven by fiduciary professionals in breach of their legal duties to protect Maynard, and whose firms have failed to rein them in.
Shame on all of them.
This is not over.
Photo: When Maynard retired, AARP did an article about him and took this picture of him at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center where he was a huge supporter and booster.

Parents in Oregon are calling to replace a local school board following reports of a sexually explicit book in the curriculum and at least two instances where a teacher organized activities discussing sexual acts.
Fox News Digital previously reported how health class students who missed coursework at Churchill High School in Eugene, Oregon, were asked via Canvas, an online learning management system, to complete a 10-point assignment titled "Fantasy Story."
"For those students who were absent, you will write a short story of a paragraph or two. This story is a sexual fantasy that will have NO penetration of any kind or oral sex (no way of passing an STI)."
The assignment from teacher Kirk Miller also asked students to choose three items, such as candles, massage oil, feathers and flavored syrup, to use in the story.
But parent Justin McCall said his older daughter, who is in the 10th grade at Churchill High School, revealed the assignment had also been conducted in class and that the teacher had asked students to pick the sexual items written on a piece of paper out of a hat that he passed around.
Further scrutiny of the "Health 2 Human Sexuality" class found that students were also allegedly given an assignment called "With Whom Would You Do it." The project involved a virtual spinning wheel labeled with sexual categories. Students were allegedly instructed to respond when the wheel stopped and write the initials of the person they would engage in the sex act with.
"My daughter told me it was literally up on the board and it mentioned you know who are you going to have anal penetration with, oral sex, licking of the ear, kissing and vaginal sex," McCall said, calling the assignment "disgusting and wrong."
A Title VI and IX coordinator attempted to speak with McCall's daughter about the incidents but was directed to the family's legal counsel.
The Eugene 4J School District did not return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
The above allegations, as well as a flurry of other complaints from parents, have prompted calls for new leadership on the Eugene School Board, which is holding elections in May. In the event leadership stays the same, a group of parents is in the process of knocking on doors and setting up tables outside the district schools to gather signatures for a recall.
Beth Ball, a 4J alumni who met her husband at Churchill High School in the 1990s, intentionally enrolled her children in the 4J school district following her positive educational experience. Her issues began when her child entered sixth grade at the Arts & Technology Academy in Eugene.
At home, Ball noticed a form that said she could opt her child out of health class if she disagreed with the contents of the syllabus or curriculum. However, after correspondence with the teacher, Ball was told the syllabus and curriculum had not yet been created and waited at the school for two days to get a meeting with the principal.
The principal informed her they could not access the syllabus and curriculum, but her child needed to be enrolled in health class to graduate. Given the lack of information, Ball instructed her child to wait in the office daily during health class. Her child received a "no pass" in the class, but because of COVID-19 school closures, the "no-pass" became a non-issue.
Once her child entered the ninth grade at Churchill, the same school Ball attended, he was assigned a novel called "I'll Give You the Sun."
"The first five pages of it the book talks about how [the main character] is getting beat up and he's turned on by it. He gets a boner," Ball said. "For me, that's completely unacceptable because it's saying that if you're getting abused or picked on, it's normal and in fact you should like it."
A review of the book by Fox News Digital found the scene described by Ball and takes place early in the book when the main character wrestles with another student.
After contacting the school to ask why the book was placed in the curriculum, she was simply told that it got great reviews and spurred conversation on complex topics. She then pulled her child out of Churchill and began homeschooling him.
"And then this sexual essay hit, and I wasn't surprised in the least," Ball said.
Following the backlash, school principal Missy Cole said, "the district has begun the process of reviewing and selecting a new health curriculum to replace the OWL content that will be completed by the end of the school year."
According to the board, the changes to the curriculum were not related to complaints from parents and had already been on the docket for the 2023 school year.
During a March 16 school board meeting, citing "failures in our practices," Eugene School District Superintendent Andy Dey said they had identified "shortcomings" in their curriculum and recommended that the sexual fantasy's lesson not be administered again.
Dey also said the rumors of "spinning wheels" with "salacious acts" had not been substantiated or reflected in the materials the teachers used. However, Dey did confirm an "online virtual randomizer wheel" that did not have sexual acts on it.
He also said that the sexual fantasy's assignment was given out due to "inadequate oversight" and that future lessons will follow the curriculum verbatim and refrain from using supplemental materials, as was done in this case.
In a statement to the New York Post, OWL program manager Melanie Davis said the district was following an "unauthorized" and "out-of-context" facilitated group activity currently out of print.
The United Church of Christ and the Unitarian Universalist Association claimed the material was not part of the comprehensive OWL curriculum it helped to develop.
Emails provided to Fox News Digital showed that McCornack Elementary asked McCall to sign paperwork agreeing to only correspond with the school over email and only through his wife and noted McCall was trespassed off the property "due to hostile behavior towards other McCornack parents, students, and staff that created fear."
McCall was allowed to speak at the March 16 board meeting despite his ban from the elementary school. Following his public comments at the meeting and his move to recall the board, McCall was banned from all 4J district property. The district said they contact McCall no later than April 20 about his formal complaints and trespass appeal.
At the meeting, McCall claimed the school was lying about the spinning wheel assignment and suggested the teacher had not yet been fired because he is also the football coach and the team was doing well.
"If you do not remove him, I'm giving you my word today that tomorrow morning I will go down to the County Clerk's office and I will file for the removal of every single one of you," he said as the room erupted in cheers.
Miller has been placed on administrative leave.
Dr. Michael Bratland, a local dentist and conservative running for school board in the May elections, said that he wants a comprehensive review of the situation but stopped short of supporting the termination of the teacher or board members. He also credited Superintendent Dey for his leadership and handling of the situation but was more critical of the current board.
"The school board's the top and they need to take responsibility and when I was at that school board meeting last week, I didn't really hear anybody take accountability," he said.
#nunyas news#if people that age want to write stuff like that for themselvess#that's on them#teachers should not have anything close to that

7 Ways to De-Stress Your Mind and Body
We all experience stress in our lives, and it can have a huge impact on our mental and physical health. Thankfully, there are many ways to reduce stress and improve your overall well being. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing 16 tips to help you de-stress both your mind and body so you can stay healthy and calm. Read on to find out more!
1) Get regular exercise
Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and improve your overall health and well-being. Whether you prefer to take a walk in the park, go for a swim at the beach, join a local gym, or practice yoga at home, regular exercise can help to alleviate stress and provide other health benefits. Regular physical activity can improve mood, increase energy levels, reduce stress, improve sleep, and lower risk of heart disease and other chronic health issues. Exercise can also improve mental clarity, focus, and cognitive performance.
When it comes to finding ways to de-stress your body and mind, fitness should be at the top of your list. Try to find an activity that you enjoy and set a goal for yourself. This could include running a 5K race, doing yoga for 20 minutes every morning, or taking up swimming. Whatever activity you choose, make sure you give it your all to get the most out of it
Exercise and weight loss
There are many natural remedies for stress that may help you relax. Herbal remedies such as chamomile tea or valerian root can be helpful in managing stress levels. Taking a hot bath, meditating, and spending time outdoors can also help reduce stress. For those looking to learn more about natural remedies for stress relief, check out the Oregon Health & Science University website for tips and advice on stress management.
At the same time, it is important to keep in mind that maintaining a healthy diet is essential for managing stress levels. Eating foods high in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon or flaxseed can help reduce inflammation and improve mood. Additionally, avoiding processed foods high in sugar or saturated fats can help reduce stress-related cravings.
Finally, don’t forget to stay informed on health topics and stay current on health headlines. Ask your healthcare provider questions if you have any health concerns or are unsure about any health subjects. Taking care of your mental and physical health should be a priority and making sure you understand the latest information on health is one way to ensure your overall wellness
2) Eat a nutritious diet
When it comes to de-stressing your mind and body, eating a nutritious diet can make all the difference. Eating nutrient-rich foods will give your body the energy and
nourishment needs to better handle stressful situations, while keeping your weight in check.
Foods like fruits, vegetables, legumes, lean proteins, and whole grains provide essential vitamins and minerals that help your body cope with stress, improve overall health, and boost your weight loss efforts. Additionally, healthy fats like those found in avocados, nuts, and olive oil are important for maintaining heart health, brain function, and reducing inflammation.
When creating meals, focus on incorporating as many of these healthy foods as possible. Aim to have a balanced plate that includes vegetables, whole grains, protein, and healthy fats. Also, don’t forget to stay hydrated! Drinking plenty of water will keep your body functioning optimally and help you feel more relaxed.
By making small dietary changes each day, you can set yourself up for long-term success and find balance between your mind and body.

3) Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep is one of the most important steps to take in order to de-stress your mind and body. Not getting enough sleep can cause an increase in stress, fatigue, and other negative physical and mental effects. If you want to give your body and mind a break, make sure to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep every night.
In addition to getting enough sleep, there are other steps you can take to reduce stress and promote good health. First, maintain a balanced diet that is high in essential nutrients. Eating a diet full of whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats can help to fuel your body and keep your energy levels up. Second, practice mindful activities such as yoga or meditation to help clear your mind and relax your body. Finally, make sure to take time out of your day for yourself. Whether it's going for a walk or listening to music, taking a break can help to reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing.
Take breaks throughout the day
As we enter a new decade, it is important to recognize the power of taking breaks throughout the day to help de-stress our minds and bodies. Finding time for ourselves can often be challenging, but it is essential for maintaining optimal health and wellness.
Taking regular breaks from our daily routines can help us disconnect from our stressors and give us time to reset our minds and bodies. Short bouts of activity such as walking around the block or stretching can be just as effective as longer breaks. There are also some natural remedies for stress that can help improve our overall mental and physical wellbeing.
To reduce the physical effects of stress on the body, it's important to maintain a healthy diet. Eating small meals and snacks throughout the day can help balance our blood sugar levels and prevent stress rash, a type of skin condition related to anxiety. It's also important to limit processed foods, sugary treats, and caffeine intake, as these can exacerbate stress levels. Additionally, taking vitamins or herbal remedies for stress can be helpful in reducing the impacts of emotional eating or other unhealthy behaviors.
It is also beneficial to engage in activities to reduce stress levels, such as yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, or journaling. Oregon Health recommends a few tips to getting healthy, such as exercising regularly and setting realistic goals.
Finally, you may want to consider talking to your healthcare provider if you feel overwhelmed by your stress levels. A simple stress test or nuclear stress test may reveal areas that need improvement, and your doctor can help develop an appropriate plan for managing your stress.
.
4) Practice meditation or mindfulness
We all feel overwhelmed or stressed out from time to time, and managing our stress can have a huge impact on both our mental and physical health. One of the most effective ways to reduce stress is to practice meditation or mindfulness, which has been shown to help people stay focused on their present moment experiences.
A few simple exercises to get started with meditation or mindfulness include breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided imagery. Taking some time out of your day to focus on yourself and just observe your thoughts can help you clear your mind and reduce stress.
If you find that your stress levels are causing physical symptoms like a stress rash or a stress fracture, it’s important to consult with your doctor to rule out any medical conditions. Additionally, natural remedies for stress such as exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, and getting enough sleep can all help you to manage stress levels. If you’re having trouble with emotional eating due to stress, try seeking out tips to getting healthy from nutritionists or therapists who specialize in health and wellness.
Finally, if you’d like to take a stress test to gauge your current levels, there are many online tools available such as Oregon Health & Science University’s Stress Test Tool. You can also look into a nuclear stress test if recommended by your physician.
No matter what type of stress relief techniques you choose, taking the time to listen to your body and prioritize your own health will go a long way in reducing stress levels and improving overall wellbeing. Be sure to keep up with health topics, health subjects, and health headlines, so you can make informed decisions about your health. And if you ever have any health questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to talk to your healthcare provider
5) Connect with nature
Nature can be a great source of stress relief. Whether you are taking a walk in the park, a hike in the woods, or just enjoying a sunny day in your backyard, connecting with nature can help to reduce stress levels and restore your physical and mental health. Taking some time to observe and appreciate nature can help lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels and improve overall well being.
One way to de-stress is to take a stress test. This can help you identify areas where your stress levels are higher than normal and allow you to develop strategies for better managing those situations. You can even use nature as part of this process. Find a quiet place, such as a park or forest, and take a few moments to observe the trees, plants, birds, and other animals around you. As you observe, allow yourself to relax into the environment and observe how it affects your mood and state of mind.
Taking time to appreciate nature not only helps to reduce stress levels but also allows us to gain insight into ourselves and connect more deeply with our own sense of inner peace. Whenever you feel overwhelmed or out of balance, take a moment to reconnect with nature and allow yourself to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life.
6) Avoid negative people
Avoiding negative people is one of the best ways to de-stress your mind and body. Negative people can drain your energy, take up valuable time, and prevent you from focusing on positive activities. If you find yourself surrounded by negative people, try to distance yourself and focus on more positive influences.
If possible, try to stay away from stressful situations and people. Surround yourself with people who support your goals and wellbeing. Spending time with these types of people will help you manage stress levels and maintain a sense of calm.
When trying to reduce stress levels, look into natural remedies such as aromatherapy, yoga, or meditation. Exercise is also a great way to reduce stress levels and manage physical symptoms of stress like stress rash or stress fractures. If exercise isn't something you enjoy, try focusing on mindfulness activities like reading or taking a walk in nature.
Lastly, make sure to keep up with healthy eating habits. Stress can often lead to emotional eating or increased snacking, so make sure you're nourishing your body properly. Try to avoid processed foods and focus on lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables.
If you're looking for more health resources, check out Oregon Health for tips to getting healthy, health wellness information, interesting health topics and subjects, health headlines, and answers to all of your health questions. With these tips in mind, you should be able to stay stress-free and enjoy life!
7) Practice yoga
Are you feeling stressed and overwhelmed? If so, you are not alone. Stress is an inevitable part of life and something that we all experience in some capacity. Fortunately, there are several ways to reduce stress and promote wellbeing. Practicing yoga is one such way.
Yoga is an ancient practice that helps to deepen your mind-body connection. Through a series of poses and breathing exercises, it helps to relax your body, quiet your mind, and reduce stress. It can also strengthen the body and improve flexibility. All of these benefits make yoga an ideal way to de-stress.
When practicing yoga for stress relief, focus on poses that help to open the chest, release tension in the shoulders, and calm the mind. For example, Child's Pose, Triangle Pose, Cobra Pose, Warrior II, and Corpse Pose are all excellent options for reducing stress. Remember to breathe deeply and move with awareness throughout each pose.
You may also want to try natural remedies for stress relief. Herbal remedies such as chamomile tea and valerian root are known to reduce stress levels. Eating healthy foods and getting enough sleep can also help reduce stress. Avoiding emotional eating and caffeine can help as well

Some further info on this:
A lot of non-speaking background actors aren't even union. And you even see them on screen clearly.
I know this because I'm married to one of them. Sean was in an episode of Grimm. He poured some wine, and then you see him in a pan describing something to a responding officer.
He made minimum wage in Oregon for the first 8 hours, then time-and-a-half for the rest.
You know how you get a union paycheck? You somehow manage to get a line or a reaction shot. If you're not in the union before, THAT gets you in. It's definitely a Catch-22. To get the role that gets you a union card, you have to show up without a union card and get the chance at the role.
So, to even get INTO the union is a fucking hoop jump. But then to stay in, you have to scrape together dues when you're trying to just do whatever you do when you're not standing in the background. And if you lose your union status, congrats. You're back to square one.
This is not to say that SAG-AFTRA doesn't want to take care of its union workers, but I think there's a conversation to be had about how fucking hard it is to get into and STAY in the union in the first fucking place.
When Sean went to work at a grocery store because I'd lost my job shortly before, he'd been informed all he had to do to be in the union was show up to a meeting, sign his name, and let them take a few bucks out of his paycheck.
We scraped by for 18 months because of that. Most notably, we scraped by WITH HEALTH INSURANCE because of that.
I think there are ways SAG-AFTRA could improve for both non-union and union actors, but my first recommendation is to look at how the WGA brings on members because it seems like literally no one in the creator system can write without being WGA, so SOMETHING there is being handled better than with SAG.
It could literally be as easy as saying someone has to be background in X number of productions over Y number of years. It wouldn't catch everyone trying to make a living, but it'd widen the fucking net.
"writers deserve attention more than actors" literally only 2% of actors can pay the bills with acting. For every megastar on screen there are a dozen other people in the shot who are SAG. Acting gets so glamorized but there are SO MANY people in SAG who NEED residuals to live on. Background Party Girl #4 needs her check too!!!! There are people who play recurring characters on syndicated shows who cant afford health insurance!!! Ke Huy Quan gave an oscar winning performance and LOST HIS HEALTH INSURANCE the next year.

Navigating Mental Wellness with the Oregon Health Plan: Access to Counseling and Support
Mental health is an integral part of overall well-being, yet many individuals struggle to access the care and counseling they need. For residents of Oregon, the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) offers a vital lifeline, ensuring that low-income individuals and families can receive necessary healthcare services, including mental health counseling. In this article, we will explore how the Oregon Health Plan Counseling services provide critical support to individuals seeking mental wellness and how people can effectively navigate the process through resources like Peace and Flourishing, a holistic wellness and counseling center in Oregon.
Understanding the Oregon Health Plan
The Oregon Health Plan is Oregon’s Medicaid program, providing free or low-cost healthcare coverage for individuals who meet specific income criteria. OHP covers a broad range of health services, from physical health to dental care, but one of its essential components is the coverage of behavioral and mental health services. This includes access to counseling, therapy, and other support services for individuals dealing with mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and trauma.
OHP ensures that individuals who otherwise might not afford healthcare can get access to the treatments and counseling they need. Counseling, in particular, is a crucial service for many who are dealing with mental health challenges, as it provides a space to process emotions, learn coping mechanisms, and develop strategies for improving mental well-being.
Oregon Health Plan Counseling Services
Counseling services under the Oregon Health Plan are designed to be accessible to many individuals. Whether someone is dealing with a new mental health challenge or has been managing a chronic condition, OHP offers coverage that allows them to seek professional counseling services. This can be through individual therapy sessions, group counseling, or specialized programs for conditions like substance use disorders or trauma recovery.
The types of counseling available through OHP vary depending on the needs of the individual. These can include:
Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist, focusing on personal issues like anxiety, depression, grief, or stress management.
Group Therapy: Sessions where individuals can share experiences and learn from others in a similar situation.
Family Counseling: Therapy designed to address family dynamics, improve communication, and resolve conflicts within family units.
Substance Use Counseling: For those struggling with addiction, OHP covers therapy and support groups to help individuals on the path to recovery.
Counseling Through Peace and Flourishing
While the Oregon Health Plan provides counseling coverage, finding a provider that aligns with your needs is essential. By accepting the Oregon Health Plan, Peace and Flourishing makes mental health counseling more accessible to those who may otherwise struggle to afford these services. Their mission is to provide compassionate care, helping individuals to flourish emotionally and mentally, regardless of their financial situation.
Accessing Counseling Services with OHP
For individuals enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan, accessing counseling services is a straightforward process. Here are the steps you can take to get started:
Enroll in OHP: If you are not already enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan, you can apply online through the Oregon Health Authority’s website. Eligibility is based on income, and many individuals and families qualify for full coverage.
Choose a Provider: Once enrolled, you can search for providers who accept OHP. Peace and Flourishing is one such provider that offers counseling services under the plan, making it a convenient option for those seeking a holistic and compassionate approach to mental health care.
Schedule an Appointment: After selecting a provider, contact their office to schedule an appointment. Be sure to mention that you have OHP coverage, as this will ensure that your counseling services are billed appropriately.
Attend Counseling Sessions: Once you begin counseling, you’ll have regular sessions to work through your mental health challenges. Your therapist will work with you to develop a personalized plan, which may include individual counseling, group therapy, or other therapeutic modalities.
Ongoing Support: Mental health is an ongoing journey, and OHP ensures that you have access to continued support. Whether you need short-term counseling or long-term therapy, OHP covers the services you need to maintain mental wellness.
The Importance of Mental Health Counseling
Mental health counseling is not just for those in crisis; it’s a resource for anyone looking to improve their emotional and psychological well-being. Counseling provides a space to explore difficult emotions, work through life’s challenges, and gain the skills needed to cope with stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.
The Oregon Health Plan’s coverage of counseling services is an invaluable resource for residents of Oregon, ensuring that everyone, regardless of financial status, has the opportunity to receive the mental health support they need. Providers like Peace and Flourishing amplify this accessibility by offering specialized, holistic care that addresses both the symptoms and the root causes of mental health issues.

Understanding OCD
Before diving into specific support strategies, it's essential to have a clear understanding of OCD. This disorder can significantly impact daily functioning and relationships, making family support crucial.

Compulsions: Repetitive behaviors or mental acts performed to alleviate the anxiety caused by obsessions.
Impact on Daily Life: OCD can interfere with daily activities, work, and relationships, making effective support from loved ones essential.

Effective communication is key to supporting a loved one with OCD. Open and supportive communication can help reduce feelings of isolation and foster a stronger connection.
Listen Without Judgment: Allow your loved one to express their thoughts and feelings without judgment or interruption. Validate their experiences and emotions.
Avoid Criticism: Refrain from criticizing or dismissing their compulsive behaviors. Understand that these behaviors are a part of the disorder and not a personal failing.
Offer Reassurance: Provide reassurance and encouragement, but avoid participating in or enabling compulsions. Instead, focus on positive reinforcement and support for their OCD treatment Salem goals.
3. Encourage Professional Help
Encouraging your loved one to seek professional help is a crucial step in managing OCD. While you can offer support, treatment from a mental health professional is often necessary for effective management of the disorder.
Support Their Treatment Journey: Help your loved one find a qualified therapist or psychiatrist who specializes in OCD. Resources like Salem Health and Willamette Valley Community Health can provide referrals.
Assist with Appointments: Offer to help schedule appointments, provide transportation, or accompany them to sessions if they find it helpful.
Promote Adherence to Treatment: Encourage your loved one to follow their Ocd Treatment Salem plan, including attending therapy sessions and taking prescribed medications as directed.
4. Create a Supportive Environment
Creating a supportive and understanding environment at home can help your loved one manage their OCD more effectively. Consider implementing the following strategies:
Establish Routines: Establishing consistent routines can provide a sense of stability and predictability, which can be beneficial for individuals with OCD.
Minimize Triggers: Work with your loved one to identify and minimize potential triggers for their OCD symptoms. This may involve adjusting certain aspects of the home environment or daily routines.
Practice Patience and Empathy: Recognize that managing OCD is a process that requires time and patience. Show empathy and understanding, and celebrate small victories along the way.
5. Set Boundaries and Avoid Enabling
While it's important to be supportive, it's equally important to set boundaries and avoid enabling behaviors that can reinforce OCD symptoms.
Avoid Participating in Compulsions: Do not engage in or accommodate your loved one’s compulsive behaviors. Instead, encourage them to follow their treatment plan and resist compulsions.
Set Limits: Set clear and healthy boundaries regarding how OCD affects family life. It’s important to balance support with maintaining your own well-being and that of other family members.
Promote Independence: Encourage your loved one to take responsibility for their OCD treatment Salem and daily tasks. Supporting their independence can help build their confidence and coping skills.

Support Groups: Look for local support groups for individuals with OCD and their families. Organizations like OCD Oregon may offer support groups and educational events in Salem.
Nonprofit Organizations: Explore nonprofit organizations focused on mental health, such as NAMI Oregon, which may provide support groups, educational materials, and advocacy.

Seek Support: Consider joining a support group for family members of individuals with OCD. These groups can provide emotional support and practical advice.
Practice Self-Care: Engage in self-care activities that help you manage stress and maintain your own mental health. This can include exercise, hobbies, and relaxation techniques.
Seek Professional Help: If you find yourself struggling with the emotional impact of supporting a loved one with OCD, consider seeking therapy or counseling for yourself.
8. Foster Open Dialogue About OCD
Fostering an environment where open dialogue about OCD is encouraged can help reduce stigma and promote understanding.
Educate the Family: Share information about OCD with other family members to promote understanding and empathy.
Promote Awareness: Advocate for awareness and understanding of OCD in the community. Participating in local events or supporting mental health initiatives can help reduce stigma and increase support for those affected.
