Shinichiro at the daycare acting out stupid fights benkei and waka have(or mikey and emma in the alt color) hes so cute in his little apron but after 20 straight rejections would he be able to notice how down bad the single moms in his area are for him?
The kids are probably a little confused but still amused by all the things he acts out. The leopard and bear arguing over the weirdest things, the bear complaining about the lion holding an old blanket. The bear definitely said something outrageous here

Dad!James Potter x Bsf!Reader ☼ 1036 words | briefly 18+, and thank you to @moonpascal for your thoughts and ideas!
You only agreed to go to the pub because James seemed keen, but in all honesty, you’d much rather be tangled up in his bedsheets with him. Slipping into a dress that hugged you perfectly and dabbing on a pretty red lip was a definite perk, though.
This was one of your first outings with your friends now that James and you were officially together. Telling your friends had caused quite a scene. Marlene’s excitement was so loud you half-wondered if your hearing would ever be the same, while Lily, genuinely happy for you, seemed like she might tear up any second.
The pub is buzzing with chatter and clinking glasses as you settle into a cozy corner with your friends. James has his arm draped casually around your shoulders, his thumb absentmindedly tracing circles on your skin.
You’re lost in thought, your mind drifting to Henry and wondering how he’s doing with the babysitter. You know he’s probably fine—he always lights up when Angela’s around—but it still feels strange not being the one there with him. Sure, it means you get a night out with James, but part of you can’t help missing those quiet nights with Henry, just the two of you.
You're so lost in thought that you don’t even notice the man approaching the table. He claps Sirius and Remus, both of whom have their backs to him, on the shoulder with a bit too much enthusiasm. Remus flinches, startled, while Sirius practically leaps out of his seat.
“Boys!” he calls out, a cheery smile on his face, and you can tell he’s been drinking a tad too much. “Long time no see, mates.”
"Colin!" James lights up, his grin matching the man's excitement. You barely recognize him—maybe you’ve seen him in old photos with James and the boys, but it’s clear they haven’t kept in touch much since school. "How’ve you been?"
Colin launches into a debrief about his life after school. And the boys listen and sprinkle in a few comments to show they’re listening. Marlene meets your eye and fakes a yawn, which makes you smile. You weren’t listening all that much, either.
“Wait!” You glance up at Colin’s sharp exclamation and realize he’s looking at you. “You’re Henry’s mum!”
Without thinking, you smile and nod. If you hadn’t had those two drinks, you might have hesitated and weighed your words more carefully. But in your heart, you already considered yourself Henry’s mum—James had even told you that Henry called you that when they were alone. The only thing missing was Henry saying it to your face. “Yeah,” you say softly, a warmth spreading in your chest. “I am.”
James nearly knocks over his drink, freezing mid-reach as your words sink in. His eyes widen in surprise, and the usual confident grin falters, leaving him completely flustered. Sirius and Remus exchange an amused glance, barely containing their smirks at how thoroughly you've caught him off guard.
He knew you hadn’t wanted to go out tonight. The way you’d flashed him that pouty lip when he mentioned the group plans and how you'd been invited—it had almost broken him. Now, as he sat here, he was wishing he’d caved and stayed in with you.
But then, he wouldn’t have heard you call yourself Henry’s mum.
He hardly hears the conversation happening between you and Colin. Instead, he’s lost in thoughts of making you his wife and giving Henry a sibling—or maybe two or three. His mind flashes with images of you, stomach full and swollen. He likes the idea of everyone knowing how well he’d fucked you. So pretty and so full of him. His throat feels dry, and the last place he wants to be is in this pub. He wants to be home, burying himself inside of you as you beg him to make you a mum.
He stands up abruptly, the chair squeaking as it scrapes against the floor, propelled back with surprising force. All eyes turn toward him, curiosity etched on their faces as he reaches for your purse, which hangs off the back of your chair.
“I’ve forgotten that our babysitter has to go by midnight.” James rushes out. “We have to get home.”
Colin doesn’t seem to notice James’ sudden urgency, but you do, your brow furrowing as you catch his impatient glance. She didn’t have to leave by midnight—James had told you both that the night would stretch longer. Still, when he stands and extends his hand to you, you take it without hesitation. Your goodbyes to Colin and the others are rushed, barely uttered, before James is already tugging you out of the pub, his grip firm as if he can’t wait another second to get you alone.
“Jamie, what is going on?” You ask as you step into the cool night air, the door slamming shut behind you and effectively cutting off the lively chatter of the pub.
“Fuck, do you know what hearing you call yourself Henry’s mum did to me?” He rasps out your name, and the tone of his voice sends a thrill through you—it's unmistakably filled with desire. You reach his parked car, and he sharply flings open the door for you, the sudden movement catching you off guard.
You stand there, fully aware that he’s waiting for you to get in, but you don’t move. Instead, you watch him closely, taking in every detail. His cheeks are flushed, and his breathing is uneven, revealing just how much your comment has affected him. The anticipation hangs between you, thick and electric, and you revel in the power you have over him in this moment.
“Baby, get in the car. Please,” He nearly begs, “I can’t wait any longer.”
“You don’t want me in the car?” You tease, the flirtation in your voice almost sending him over the edge. You can see the effect it has on him by the way he inhales sharply, his eyes fluttering shut as if he’s trying to regain control.
“I’m trying to be a gentleman, which means getting you home so I can take you in our bed,” He breathes out. “Get in the car.”
You don’t need any more convincing after that.

Yeah, Life Is Pretty Good! : ̗̀➛ Carlos Sainz
summary: in which carlos finds himself daydreaming wondering how he managed to achieve such a perfect life
“Have you even been listening to a word that I’ve been saying?”
The raise in volume of your voice had Carlos’ eyes snapping over in your direction, his eyes going wide. Your head shook, the guilt on his expression clear as he glanced back down at your son who he held tightly in his arms.
“You weren’t were you?” You sighed, folding your arms in front of his chest. “I swear I might as well talk to myself sometimes with you, what’s been going on with you these days?”
“Sorry,” Carlos sighed, “what was it that you were saying?”
You dismissed Carlos as you left your son’s nursery, heading downstairs to get on with some work that you had to do. Carlos felt terrible as he watched you go, having tried his best to listen, but unable to quite concentrate enough.
“That’s your fault,” Carlos scolded your son, “I can’t help but sit and watch you and that means I don’t hear your mummy.”
Over the past three weeks since your son arrived, Carlos had felt new emotions that he’d never experienced before. He was overwhelmed, happy, a little bit tired, but above all else, he was so in love.
Getting used to the newborn stage was exciting for him, each day he was finding out new things about your son, discovering new details or picking up on little habits. He was completely infatuated with his new status as dad, he couldn’t get enough of the massive learning curve.
“Your mum just doesn’t understand, does she?” Carlos asked your son, “how can anyone not just be completely obsessed with you before anything else?”
The bright eyes of your son stared up at Carlos, completely unaware of what he was saying. Carlos didn’t seem to mind too much, just getting your son familiar with the sound of his voice was the most important thing to him, knowing they’d have plenty of time for proper conversations in the future.
You were sure it was the Spanish in him, but whenever Carlos spoke, your son listened. He was fascinated by Carlos’ voice, those little accents and flair that he had already had your son intrigued by him.
You could already tell they were going to be quite the double act.
You didn’t seem to mind though, watching Carlos in awe. He’d made no secret of the fact that he wanted to start a family, but even he couldn’t prepare himself for how incredible it would be. Above all else, he couldn’t quite believe just how lucky he got to have the two of you.
“What do you do to me?” Carlos asked, standing your son up against his thighs. “You don’t even feel guilty for making me an emotional wreck, do you?”
As he studied your son, Carlos could see himself in him perfectly, he had his eyes, without a shadow of a doubt, knowing he was going to a heartbreaker with those piercing orbs when he was a little bit older.
Carlos couldn’t wait to teach him so much more about life, all the things his dad taught him, and although he wouldn’t admit it to you, he definitely couldn’t wait to show him all about race cars in the future too.
He wasn’t quite sure how long the two of them were sat in the nursery for, disturbed by the door opening and you peering through, smiling softly at the scene that you saw unfolding in front of you.
It was only as you walked in you noticed how Carlos’ bottom lip was stuck out, his eyes slightly bigger than usual, two habits of his you always recognised a sign for when he was feeling a little bit emotional.
“What’s he done to you?” You laughed, taking a seat beside Carlos.
Carlos’ head shook as he laid your son back down in his hold, using his now free hand to quickly wipe underneath his eyes and get rid of any tears that might’ve been threatening to spill for him before reaching across and taking a hold of your hand.
You weren’t letting Carlos get away with things that easily though as you continued to stare at him, silently pushing him to open up to you and let you know what had suddenly got him feeling a little bit teary eyed.
“Don’t,” Carlos chuckled, feeling you watching over him. “You’re going to laugh at me if I tell you what it is that I’ve been thinking about.”
“You won’t know unless you tell me?”
“It’s silly,” Carlos told you, but still you sat in anticipation. “I was just thinking about how amazing life is right now, with you, and of course this one.”
“That’s not silly in the slightest,” you smiled, shuffling closer towards Carlos. “I think that’s a pretty natural thing to think and feel considering what we’ve just been through.”
“I never expected life to be this good,” Carlos admitted, finding himself getting a little bit flustered once again.
Carlos’ feelings were only matched by you, it was an overwhelming experience to say the least. The most amazing thing for you was watching Carlos as a dad, you knew that he was going to be good, but even Carlos surprised you with just how good he was.
“I’m so proud to say that this is our team,” Carlos smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “It feels like we’re pretty untouchable when it’s the three of us together.”
Your head nodded in agreement with him, “we always said having a baby would be what completes us, and I think we were absolutely right.”
“There’s always room for one more,” Carlos replied, watching as your eyes went wide, quickly shaking your head to swat away any ideas that Carlos had.
You’d only just had one, let alone start thinking about another. Maybe one day you could have those conversations with Carlos again, but for now you, and your body, were more than happy just making the most of having one baby safely with you both.
“It makes me sad to know that he’s going to grow up,” Carlos spoke, changing the subject. “I wish he could stay this small and adorable forever.”
Already the two of you were noticing changes, before your very eyes it already felt like your son was growing up at a rapid rate, and he’d only been with you for a couple of weeks.
“He’s always going to be adorable,” you laughed, “he’s got our genes after all.”
“That’s true,” Carlos chuckled, his eyes flickering between the two of you. “He’s going to get all the ladies when he’s older, I can already see it.”
You dreaded to think how you would cope in the future, watching your son grow up, the terrible twos, the tantrums, and the teenage years too. But for now you were both on cloud nine, hoping that you could stay in your bubble for as long as you possibly could.
“So, life is good then?” You jokingly asked Carlos.
“Yeah, life is pretty good!”

ms grumpy <3
tartaglia x reader, modern au
Ms Grumpy and Mr Sunshine - “grumpy!”
‘Grumpy’, he had described you many times before. Tartaglia, Childe, Ajax, Mr Worldwide, a man with too many names to count was calling you ‘Grumpy pants’ in class.
You couldn’t tell if people where laughing at him, at you or with him but it was definitely all three.
You, ‘Ms Grumpy’ nicknamed by the one and only Tartaglia. Normally he rather everyone call him Childe but you always called him Tartaglia.
“Ms Grumpy you need to stop calling me by my full name it’s weird!” He complained.
“It’s not your full name, it’s your first name.” You corrected.
“Smartass,” he scoffed.
“I’ll only call you by those nicknames if you stop calling me Ms Grumpy,” you refuted.
“Well, Ms Grumpy. That’s never gonna happen.” he stated.
“Well, Tartaglia. I’ll never call you by a name other than Tartaglia.” you poked your tongue around him.
“Seriously stop calling me Tartaglia!” he complained more.
“It’s even that bad, do you know how ugly a nickname like Ms Grumpy is??” You retorted.
“I like it!” he said.
“Of course you do..” you sighed giving up this arguement.
And that was when he called you ‘Grumpy pants’. The amount of embarrassment you felt from that was unreal you just had walked away, he wasn’t worth talking too. But how did you unfortunately earn this nickname??
It all started when you were both 8, back in the 3rd Grade. Tartaglia was the new guy in class. He stood in the front of the class happily introducing himself with a bright grin.
He must have been really perceptive because he had noticed your sad, dull expression compared to everyone else in the room.
You were having a bad day because the science experience the day before had been cut short before it was your turn and you were still super sad about that.
You told your mum and she said she would buy the stuff for the experiment which was nice but you were still super upset about it. Since science experiments looked really cool when you were little kids. Now you dread science and their tests.
Tartaglia sat next to you and kept asking why you were so sad looking.
You rolled his eyes at him, wanting him to go away while you were busy sketching random things in your room.
“Hey! Ms Grumpy!” He called out, “I’m talking to you!!”
“Huh? Ms Grumpy?” You turned him.
“Yes you Grumpy pants! Actually I’m gonna called you Ms Grumpy since you don’t talk to me or tell your name.” he spoke with bad grammar.
“I don’t wanna be Ms Grumpy,” You frowned. You told him your name but he didn’t call you by that. He just kept calling you Ms Grumpy.
Tartaglia was the new kid which meant everyone in your class wanted to be friends with him. Since he was sitting next to you, it led people to believe you and Tartaglia were bestfriends so lots of people started talking to you more to be closer to him.
Well it worked for them. But you gained one friend, Scaramouche who ended up liking you for you but he was also at the time his bestfriend.
Although something eventually happened and he chose you over Tartaglia as you grew older. As time went on eventually he introduced you to more people and ever since then you, Scara, Yelan and Xiao were inseparable.
Normally you would never admit this but you were thankful to Tartaglia for the best bestfriend you could ever ask for because you quite literally had no friends since that day.
Tartaglia was always attached to you though. He would come up to you call you Ms Grumpy everytime he saw you.
You didn’t like him because he couldn’t understand you. He barely knew you and he was already calling you names.
He was also your neighbour, because when you got home that day you saw Tartaglia’s parents at your dinner table. You didn’t know they were his parents at the time but your mother told you there was someone waiting for you in your room.
It was Tartaglia jumping on your perfectly made pink bed.
“Stop jumping on my bed your gonna make it messy,” You pushed him. Luckily he fell onto the bed and not the floor.
He looked at you realising who you were. “Ms Grumpy!! I didn’t know this was your home.” You sighed. “Actually we live next to you!!”
Horror struck your face realising Tartaglia was now your neighbour which meant you would see him every morning, every night and every day.
Even though you disliked him, he was one of the people closest to you, literally not figuratively.
Ms Grumpy and Mr Sunshine - “no i’m not jealous!”
It was raining when you woke up, the thing that woke you up 10 mins before your alarm was about to go off was a notification from Tartaglia.
'rich kid tartaglia: hey ms grumpy its ur day today,'
'rich kid tartaglia: yk cuz its like raining.'
'rich kid tartaglia: ik ur reading this you have ur read reciepts on.'
'you: mb didnt notice'
'rich kid tartaglia: im texting u my ms grumpy msg bc im sick and not coming today.'
'you: thats too bad…'
'rich kid tartaglia: ik i cant see you today </3'
'rich kid tartaglia: it srsly breaks my heart i cant say ms grumpy to u in person.'
'you: nice talking to you tartaglia but i need to get ready for school'
'rich kid tartaglia: do well today!!'
'you: thanks' (rich kid tartaglia hearted this message!)
You sighed at your phone reading his message. You got up to get ready for school.
Despite his nickname for you, you didn’t really like the rain that much. You loved the sun. You hated it when rained because the mood was a lot more sadder and everything was wet and cold.
Instead of walking to school like you normally would, you had Scaramouche drive you to school. You hated walking in the rain. It was something you absolutely dreaded.
When you got to school it was absolutely freezing. The school was so poorly heated inside. All you did was shiver wherever you walked around.
Your friends were great people, maybe too great. Xiao had offered you his jacket but you knew he was gonna be cold so you politely declined him. But he insisted on making you warm so he had bought you hot chocolate from the canteen and where were you without Yelan?? Probably lost not knowing where any of your classes were. You normally had her walk you to class.
She had dropped you off at your next class since she had a different class. Scara, Yelan and Xiao all had classes together leaving you alone for this period.
You sat alone in this class but you didn’t care. Normally Tartaglia would try sit next to you but he wasn’t here today.
The class was extremely cold. Like freezing north pole snowing cold. There was boy who noticed. You’re pretty sure his name was like Lyney or something?
“Hey you look cold, you want my jacket?” He asked.
“No, I’m fine,” You lied, it was pretty obvious you lied.
He got up and sat in the empty seat next you. He didn’t have any friends in this class either. “I’m Lyney, incase you didn’t know. The one and only great magician Lyney.” he winked.
You tried to give his jacket back but he wouldn’t take it back.
You tell him your name but didn’t say anything more than that. Maybe thats what started his determination to talk to you.
He followed you around school and even walked with you when your friends were there.
Yelan had teased you a bit about him. But you ignored her. It was super awkward trying to talk to your friends with Lyney there following you like a lost puppy.
The next day you had class with him again too, Tartaglia wasn’t here again, he had messaged you saying he was super sick and of course greeting you with Ms Grumpy.
You had first period with Lyney, he had sat next to you. “Hey!! How are you,” He greeted you.
“I’m good,” You answered.
“Oh you responded,” He smiled. He kept on talking to you but you had absolutely no interest in him. You honestly just wanted him to shut up.
“Hey, I’m gonna be completely honest but I don’t really care so leave me alone.” It was honestly pretty mean but it’s on him for annoying you all day yesterday.
“Awwh, I just wanna be friends with you!” He begged.
“I don’t,”
“I’ll find a way to be friends with you then!” He said. Oh he was worse than Tartaglia…
All lesson he talked you nonstop, you nodding your head to everything he said not that you knew what he said. He could tell you weren’t really listening to him.
When you were walking to your next class with Scaramouche he had followed the both of you. Which is honestly super creepy but his determination was insane.
It was a problem, a problem for not only you but your friends.
Which meant a super late talk about it online.
'yelan !!: bro why is he following u around its kinda creepy.'
'you: he wants to be friends w me or smth'
'scara: how do we get rid of him??'
'xiaoao: maybe if u talked to him you could start building boundaries,'
'xiaoao: people care alot more when they feel like they are closer to someone'
'you: omg xiao thats so smart.'
'yelan !!: i dont get why he can’t just live you alone.'
'you: me too but hes so determined its scary.'
'scara: you should file a restraining order against him'
'you: woah calm urself its only been a day,'
'scara: and so days will turn into weeks’
'yelan !!: actually i think xiaos idea doesnt seem so bad lets try that.'
'yelan !!: okay its late i gtg sleep i need my beauty rest'
'scara: idk ab u guys but i get super bad vibes ab him.'
'you: me too but ig i gotta talk to him.. its fine i’ll be alright whats the worse that could happen??'
Yea, what was the worse that could happen? That was something for you to find out later.
The next day when you had class with him you ended up talking to him. He wasn’t that bad to talk to at all. He was so happy you were talking to him.
“Okay, and this is,” He points to something you don’t know or understand but you just wanted to get his class over and done with.
When class ended Lyney didn’t follow you and your friends around. So Xiao’s plan had worked.
You actually wanted Tartaglia to come back and sit with you so Lyney wouldn’t talk as much.
But when Tartaglia didn’t come to school for the entire week, you and Lyney actually got unexpectedly close.
You started to genuinely enjoy talking to Lyney and completely forgot about Tartaglia’s messages about you being Ms Grumpy.
You and Lyney hung out a lot and your friends even started to get use to him coming over. Yelan and Xiao even started enjoying Lyney’s tricks.
You and Lyney became super close ever since that week without Tartaglia. He became the person you enjoyed sitting with in that class.
But things weren’t great for Tartaglia, the feeling Tartaglia felt when he came back to school to see you with Lyney was a feeling he didn’t like. And he couldn’t seem to understand why.
He didn’t like seeing you with Lyney, getting along so well with him when you never did with him. He understood why you both never got to hang out like that and still regrets giving you that nickname in a way but it was his special nickname for you.
You felt like Tartaglia was finally distancing himself away from you. Which was a relief for you. But Tartaglia didn’t like the distance he had put. It felt insufferable and he didn’t understand why he did it.
It took a while for Tartaglia to figure out why but he finally understood he was stuck in his own love triangle, and he was not the one you were gonna end up with.
Hell, he didn’t even know he liked you?? How will he ever get over this??
Ms Grumpy and Mr Sunshine - “understood, me?”
It was maybe one of the worse days ever for Tartaglia but it was truly one of the best days ever for you.
Teyvat High’s Prom was coming soon, you and Yelan had been going windowshopping recently looking at clothes you could buy. But there was no one to take you since Xiao and Yelan are going together as friends and Scaramouche isn’t too fond of social events.
Lyney had been planning something for ages with your friends. What they were planning you had no idea? But they were all in the same class and in a group project together so you had assumed it was just that.
You were wrong, but it wasn’t the bad wrong. It was a nice surprise maybe too nice? Honestly you didn’t know what to think about it.
While you were walking down the hallway with Tartaglia teasing you, calling you Ms Grumpy, a party popper appeared at his feet and exploded right in front of him which made you let out a giggle.
Suddenly the hallway was filled with confetti set by Lynette, Freminet had appeared holding a bouquet of Rainbow Roses as Xiao pushed you towards a sign held up by Yelan, “Will you go to the Prom with me?”
Overwhelmed by the surprised Lyney approaches you grabbing your hand and placing a gentle kiss on it, you didn’t want to reject him out loud so you whispered into his ear and told him “I’ll think about it,” with a smile on your face.
Everyone around thought you had accepted his promposal, everyone including Tartaglia who had to put a smile on his face and clap along with everyone else who was watching this go down.
‘Top 10 embarrassing promposals…’ you thought in your head, ‘Where was Scaramouche at? That’s fishy’ you thought.
You tried to look for an opportunity to get away from the crowd in the hallway, people were talking to you and Lyney taking videos of the scene.
“Ms Grumpy,” Tartaglia called out to you, “This is a little bit embarrassing but my dad’s car broke down so I desperately need your parents to drive me home,” He explained quickly followed by dragging you out of the hallway.
“Wait, I never agreed to driving you home,” you yanked his hand off yours.
“I know, I was just lying. Did you like my preformance,” He gave you a teasing grin. He was mocking Lyney.
“You don’t like being recorded right? So I figured as the nice boy next door i’d get you out of such a situation.” he recalled.
“No need to thank me. If I had a promposal as embarrassing as that I’d be begging for someone to get me out of there. Seriously I didn’t think anyone would do that.” he rambled obnoxiously.
“Well I’m going home.” you cut him off mid ramble. “And even though you told me not to thank you, thanks I guess,” you glanced back at Tartaglia for a second before heading home.
You were lying in bed messaging Scara.
'you: bro where were u?'
'scara: didnt wana get involved soz'
'scara: so hows it going????'
'you: tbh i wanted to reject him but not infront of everyone.'
'you: people were recording us it was so uncomfy :( '
'you: tartaglia got me out of it im kinda surprised'
'scara: im not, sounds like smth he would do.'
'you: nah pretty sure he js wanted to shit on lyney'
'scara: well ig that could be an answer.'
'scara: are you gonna keep ignoring the gc orrr??'
'you: i muted them and lyney i havent checked.'
- 15 messages from 'were not emos' -
- 4 messages from 'lyney' -
- 1 missed called from 'lyney' -
'you: omds its 19 missed messages and 1 missed call altogether…'
'scara: only one missed call they going easy on u lol'
'you: fml'
You put the phone down and closed your eyes. Maybe it was better to just sleep. You didn’t feel like responding. If you just message them in the morning you doubt they would even respond.
You tried to sleep, shutting off at 10pm only to wake up to 2 calls at 1am, you must have forgetten to turn your phone back on mute after playing mobile games for a bit.
- 2 missed calls from 'were not emos' -
You’re phone started ringing again, you were tired and pissed they interrupted your sleep so you decided to pick up and hear out what the have to say
“y/n what the hell??” Yelan’s voice spoke up. “yea what was that about?” Xiao asked.
“Wha-? What was what about?” you answered half awake. “No you know what that was about you completely ignored Lyney’s confession do you understand how much of a bitchass move that was.” Yelan berated you.
“Oh hop off her dick Yelan, she didn’t have to answer shit.” Scaramouche interrupted her.
“Scara where were you? I thought you were gonna help us out. She’s your bestfriend wouldn’t you help her get a date or are you inlove with her,” Xiao said, “Inlove are you crazy, fuck off.” Scara scoffed.
“Xiao what on earth are you on, listen Scara and me are like siblings— what is wrong with you guys why would you force a confession on me.” you stood up for yourself. “I was uncomfortable, and I don’t need to explain myself if it bothers you so much then don’t talk to me.”
“y/n c’mon don’t be like that, you’ve probably made Lyney a laughing stock—” you cut her off. “Shut up! Are you seriously taking Lyney’s side just because I didn’t reciprocate his feelings???? What kind of friends are you,” you were in slight tears from how tired you were and how absurd you’re closest friends were being.
“You guys are so cruel to y/n, im off to sleep.” Scara left the group call. You left too and left the groupchat. Why on earth were they so focused on Lyney’s feelings while completely disregarding yours, it hurt even more knowing those were your closest friends.
You drifted off to sleep, every message you got you ignored.
You woke up to your alarm, you checked your phone spams from Yelan and Xiao, Lyney’s messages were just hateful and Scara had left the groupchat. You’re friend group just broke up over a boy and it just left you mentally drained.
Getting up slowly and trying to get ready, you just couldn’t. After last night you didn’t feel comfortable with the atmosphere. You were dressed up and ready but you could only take a step out the door.
“Yo, y/n! You don’t look too great,” A voice coming from your side called out your name, “y-y/n..?!” you stammered out from shocked.
“Yeah, it’s your name isn’t it?” He walked over to you. “I don’t know it just surprised me that you’d call me by my name.” you admitted
“You wanna skip? You seem out of it let’s get some frozen yogurt!” Tartaglia grabbed your hand and turning you in the direction of the shops. “Live a little! If you’re not comfortable just hanging out with me, we can call Scaramouche.”
“No, its fine. Let’s eat!” a smile appeared on your face as your steps fall in line with his.

Two Idiots and a Wedding | Part Three
Summary: You and Schlatt meet the parents, go for lunch and then decide to do something with your evening together
Warnings: Stern parents & bullies
Word Count: ~1340
Author's Note: It's more filler I know but the good stuff is coming!!!!!
Part One and Two
“Darling! It’s so good to see you!” Your mother calls out when you climb out of the car to the fancy restaurant. “Feels like forever.”
“Hi Mum,” You chuckle nervously, accepting her hug.
“And who is this handsome devil…?” She asks, pulling away from you to let her eyes rake over Schlatt’s body.
Schlatt chuckles, holding his hand out to your mother. “I’m Jay,” he says. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Good things?” She asks, laughing as she pulls him into a hug instead.
“Only the best.” He responds.
She grins as she looks back at you, a silent look to you to tell you ‘he’s a good one’. You blush, unable to hide it. Schlatt looks up and notices before turning to your father.
“Nice to meet you, sir.” He says, holding his hand out once again. Your father accepts, shaking his hand firmly.
“No need for formalities, son. Nice to meet you too. Treating my kid well?” He asks, raising an eyebrow, not yet letting go of Schlatt’s hand.
“Of course,” Schlatt responds with a smile. “They’re an angel.”
Your father gives him a stern nod, pulling his hand away.
You all head inside, you feel a hand on the small of your back as you step foot into the restaurant. You turn your head and realise it’s Schlatt doing so. He raises an eyebrow, as though questioning if there’s an issue. You turn your attention back to the hostess, now with a gentle blush spread across your cheeks.
Sitting down at the table, you see Schlatt taking a seat beside you. You look nervous, and he wishes he could alleviate it.
You all chat, small talk that you wish you didn’t have to have. There’s questions you prepared for, of course. How did you meet? So, you’re one of those streamer things too?
But then there’s one question that hits you like a freight train, one you couldn’t have prepared for considering as far as your parents are aware, you’ve only been dating a couple months.
“So, you're serious about them, Jay?” Your dad asks, stern look as he pushes another fry into his mouth. “What’s your plan? Are you gonna propose?”
“Dad, c’mon that’s not-...” You try to interject, stop this line of questioning.
Schlatt places a hand on your leg under the table, it isn’t subtle. It’s intentional. “No, no. It’s okay.” He says, giving you a smile. “I am serious about them, sir. Obviously, it’s still early days, I don’t want to put words in their mouth and make assumptions but I care about them a lot. I definitely don’t see why I wouldn’t propose in the future.” He shrugs, giving your thigh a squeeze.
You blush, looking down at your meal. That felt very… real? You’ve gotta give the guy credit, the man is a good actor.
“Alright.” Your dad responds, not smiling but seemingly satisfied with Schlatt’s answer.
The rest of the meal is okay, the tension alleviated after your parents seem to approve of Schlatt, which is only half the battle you suppose.
When returning for the bathroom, you notice your dad and Schlatt having a hushed discussion, you furrow your eyebrows in confusion as you walk over. Oh God. They know. You’re gonna be humiliated.
“I’m telling you, it’s fine. I really don’t mind.” Schlatt chuckles.
Your father looks up as you approach. “Is everything okay?” You ask hesitantly.
“Your boyfriend just picked up the entire bill.” Your mother tells you, your father looks exasperatedly back up at you.
You look at Schlatt who just shrugs, like it’s no big deal at all. “Jay…” You sigh.
“I wanted to.” Schlatt tells you.
“Well, that’s very kind, Jay. Thank you.” Your mother says, as she picks up her coat. “We have to head off, picking up the flower arrangements for your cousin. We’ll see you tomorrow.”
Your parents rush off, your father grumbling about the bill still as he leaves. You soon collect your bag and jacket as you and Schlatt head off also. You glance at him, the distance between you increasing as your parents drive out of the parking lot.
“You really didn’t have to do that, Jay.” You sigh, rolling your eyes. “I’ll venmo you the money when we get back to the hotel.”
He laughs back at you. “Don’t be ridiculous. I meant it, I wanted to pay.”
You pause your movements as you reach the car, leaning against the passenger side door. “I told you I’d pay for everything.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
You groan as you get into the car, throwing your bag into the back. “Anyway, we have the evening to ourselves. Anything you wanna do?”
“Heard there’s a bowling alley nearby.” He suggests, rolling his sleeves up before putting the car into gear. He says that like he didn’t look up things to do in the area, just as an excuse to spend more time with you.
You nod, getting comfortable in the seat. Though, you think about it for a moment. “We are in my hometown though.” You say, looking over. “We might see people that are going to be there tomorrow..”
“Okay, and?” He says, beginning to drive out the parking lot. He clearly isn’t getting it.
“So, we can’t just be friends if we go to the bowling alley.” You explain, voice slow as though you’re having to spell it out to him.
He chuckles, rubbing his chin with his free hand. “So, we’ve still gotta pretend that we’re a couple there, too?” You nod, feeling guilty. “That’s fine.”
You look at him, slightly confused. But you choose not to question it.
When you pull up to the bowling alley, Schlatt spins around and takes your hand in his. There’s no one around at the moment, but there might be, so you accept it.
Going inside, your mind is immediately cast back to being a teenager here. There wasn’t much to do when you were a kid so you spent many an evening in this exact bowling alley. It still smells the same.
Schlatt squeezes your hand as he pulls you to the reception. You follow him and stand quietly as he pays for a couple games.
“Oh my god, (Y/N)!” You hear a shriek from the other side of the room. Oh no. Oh god no, please. It’s Alyssa.
You pull your hand from Schlatt’s turning to face the shrieking woman running over. She envelops you in a hug, shit-eating grin across her face. “How are you? Are you here for Sarah’s wedding?” She asks, her voice is just as annoying as you remembered it being.
“Yeah,” You laugh nervously, tucking some hair behind your ear. Alyssa is a stark reminder of why you left your hometown, she was an awful bully back in the day. You just hope she lost some of her terrible tendencies from teenagehood in the past few years.
Schlatt wraps an arm around your waist, sensing your discomfort. “Hey, doll. We need to get to our lane.”
“You have a boyfriend?” Alyssa asks, eyes trailing over Schlatt as though she was looking at her next meal. So, she hasn’t changed a bit, then.
“This is Jay. Jay, this is Alyssa.” You introduce the two of them and she smiles, going in for a hug.
Schlatt reluctantly pulls his arm from you to accept her hug awkwardly. “Nice to meet you.” He says, though you can tell he doesn’t mean it.
She grins up at him as she pulls away. “See you tomorrow.” She purses her lips, voice low and sultry.
As she turns away, you can’t help but roll your eyes. “The fuck was that?” Schlatt laughs, almost in disbelief.
“That was Alyssa.” You groan. “And that was her flirting with you. I wouldn’t bother with her. At least wait until after the wedding if you want to.”
He looks at you with the most insulted look. “You serious?” He says, eyebrows raised. “Why would I want her when I have you, eh?”

A Game Of Cat And Mouse
Leona Kingscholar and Che’nya x Fem!Jerry Mouse!Reader
Note: Reader is Yuu/The magicless Ramshackle Prefect from another world
I have a ton of WIPs that I really want to complete but to help motivate myself to finish them I decided to write this
So Jerry’s personality seems to fluctuate depending on his iteration so I’m just going to tone down his more sadistic tendencies and make him more like the early shorts where he’s more mischievous and acts when provoked instead of going out of his way to ruin Tom’s life for no reason.
Honestly as a Tom girlie I felt so sorry for Thomas. There were times where that poor cat did not deserve what he went through - even when I was little I would root for him. Though this might just be an oldest child thing since my little sister and mum (who’s the youngest in her family) prefer Jerry.
LEONA KINGSCHOLAR
Honestly, his first impression of you wasn’t the best. Yeah, you’re a girl and he chugs gallons of respecting women juice for every meal but come on - you’re this tiny little mousegirl from another world who can’t even do magic (not to mention that he’s heard rumours that you don’t even speak that much). You’ll get eaten alive!
Then he met you and all of that went down the drain
The meeting went as it usually does: you stepped on his tail, he angrily confronts you (whilst subtly warning you of the dangers of NRC) but then you just give him this flat, unamused look.
“Hey pussycat,” you deadpan, raising an eyebrow and crossing your arms as you jut your chin up so you level him with a glare, “maybe don’t go leaving your tail lying around everywhere if you don’t want people to step on it.”
Okay, so maybe you weren’t the meek little mouse that he thought you were. Even the predators in his dorm don’t have the guts to talk back to him. Honestly, respect.
Then word gets out that you defeated an overblot and his opinion of you gets more and more favourable.
Long story short, you start dating after his overblot.
And it does cause a few turned heads.
And who can blame them? A lion going out with a mouse. That’s definitely something.
And to the untrained eye, it does sound concerning. But to those who know you (read: have been around you for more than five minutes)? Well, they’re praying for Leona’s sanity because you are nothing more than an agent of chaos.
There was this one time before you and Leona got together where a bunch of Savanaclaw predators were trying to push you, Ace, Deuce and Grim around and without even blinking you just pummelled all of them right then and there. At one point during the curb stomp battle you just pulled a mallet out of nowhere and just started thrashing everyone until they were black and blue.
Congratulations the entire Savanaclaw dorm is terrified of you
All that training with Big Cousin Muscles really does wonders
NRC have two new rules: 1) don’t even think about going after the nagicless prefect because you will lose and even if you try to use magic she will dodge and it will be your funeral and 2) DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES hurt Ace, Deuce or Grim because that will probably be the last thing you ever do (memories of Jerry completely annihilating Tom after he hurt Nibbles are resurfacing)
One thing he admires about you is your cunning and intelligence and how you’re always a step ahead of everyone no matter what their plans are. Even when you do find yourself in trouble
Even Rook Hunt has trouble trying to catch you. Don’t worry though, he’s far too fond of ‘petite mademoiselle souris’ to be irked by that.
He does get jealous of how close you are with Ruggie though. Since the hyena is also a greedy little thieving bugger like you, you have found a kindred spirit in him. The two of you bond over raiding the NRC kitchen and making off with as much as you can. And also taking the mickey out of Leona.
You also get along great with Cheka. He’s noticed that you have a soft spot for children and other animals. The pro is that he gets his nephew off of his back by pawing him off to you (who he knows will make sure that no harm will come to him) the con is that you get along too well and your chaotic natures mixing will probably send him to an early grave - if your mischievous and provoking nature doesn’t already.
One thing he loves to do is tease you over your mouse-like qualities. Yeah, anyone with eyes can tell that you’re nowhere near as innocent as you look but those mouse ears, wide eyes, squeaks and cute little tail are objectively and indisputably adorable. He takes great pleasure in telling you how cute ‘his little mouse’ is, especially when you give such sweet reactions when you're flustered.
Though he does get taken aback by how bold you are. You definitely did that thing Jerry does where he holds mistletoe above his head and made kissing noises at Tom.
Your high pitched laugh makes his heart melt and he definitely uses his rich boy money to buy you all of the expensive cheese you can eat.
CHE’NYA
He loves you so much. Finally, someone he can be chaotic with - you’re a match made in hell.
His interest in you starts when he tries to sneak up on you whilst invisible but you pull one over him and just turn around, look directly into his unseeable eyes and sprAY WATER RIGHT ONTO HIS FACE-WHAT THE HELL?! WHERE DID YOU EVEN GET THAT SPRAY BOTTLE FROM????
At first he was pleasantly surprised before his face broke into a Cheshire Cat grin. He felt cupid’s arrow hit him square in the chest and he just looked at you with heart eyes.
By asking Trey and Cater and hiding in the rose maze, he gathered enough information to decide that you are his future wife
Turns out that your troublemaking antics have you paired with Ace and Floyd for the position of ‘bane of Riddle Rosehearts’ existence’. Mainly because everytime you break a rule you always, without fail, evade punishment by avoiding getting caught - even when you are clearly the culprit
Trey has bribed you with so many cheese based baked goods to stop you from sneaking into Heartslabyul and causing mayhem (you felt sorry for him so you promised him that you’ll only steal from the main kitchen near the cafeteria. That’s not what he meant but he’ll take it)
One day he catches you kidnapping the dorm’s pet dormouse before an unbirthday party so that you ‘can help your fellow mice by freeing them from their subjugation’. He shrugs and nods in understanding before asking you if he should let out the flamingos and hedgehogs from their pens as a distraction.
And so a beautiful relationship was born as the two of you ran off with a tray of choux pastries and a bunch of angry card soldiers chasing you.
The two of you have a competition over who can sneak into and stay in Heartslabyul the longest without getting caught and you’re currently the winner.
He loves that you’re not scared of anyone and you’re not afraid to stand up to people that are almost quadruple your size. In fact, he’s there cheering you on whenever you fight back or plot your revenge (he does know that he has a whole other school to attend, right?). One time you showed him one of your revenge plans and he even helped you set the traps and everything. Oh the two of you working together has NRC running for the hills.
Like Leona, he does like to tease you but what do you expect? He’s a cat, you’re a mouse - that’s nature. Though he does love the fact that you’re always one step ahead of him whenever he does try to outsmart you. He loves a good puzzle and you certainly keep him on his toes.

Hello. Could I request a fic with f reader working at Richmond and Jan Maas faling in love with reader. Just fluff. ❤️
Jan Maas*Sweet As You
Pairing: Jan Maas x f!reader
Word count: 1134
Warnings: pure fluff
Masterlist here
There were definite perks and draw backs of working at Richmond. On one hand as a receptionist, you got paid to do honestly not very much. However, on the other hand you had to deal with a weird amount of prank calls from football fans.
One recently developing perk was the free coffee you received every morning. No, it wasn't a company thing or from your boss or other colleagues. Every morning this week Jan Maas walked in with a black coffee in one hand and an iced caramel mocha latte with an extra shot of expresso in the other.
It all started when you happened to walk into work at the same time and he noticed the Starbucks cup in your hand. "Is that even coffee at this point?" He half teased half seriously wondered.
"It is coffee," you said, drawing out the words as you defended yourself as Jan opened the front door for you, "caffeine not enough for me. I need that sugar high to deal with you lot,"
Jan chuckled at you, walking you over to the desk where your coworker pretended not to be listening in. "Funny. I thought you were sweet enough. See you later," he said, walking away to leave you a blushing mess.
However as soon as he got out of sight Jan became equally as flustered as he realised what he'd said. What was worse was Sam hearing him muttering under his breath about it resulting in Sam telling all the guys who then set up a plan to teach Jan how to flirt.
The issue was he wasn't very good at it. Instead, every morning without fail he got your coffee for you. "Hey Jan," you called, rolling down your car window as you slowed down. It was 7am and he was walking to Richmond with two coffees in hand, "need a lift?"
Jan preferred to walk. He'd never really seen the big deal around cars. However, he was quick to accept your offer. "My coffees will bankrupt you," you joked as you accepted the drink before resuming your drive.
"Don’t worry about it," he laughed, "your worth the money,"
"Think you can buy my affection? “you teased as you were pulling into Richmond.
"Maybe," he said it quietly, his eyes darting away before back to yours. "Is it working?" He asked.
You turned the car off, taking a long sip out your coffee while pretending to think about it, "I think it might be," you finally said, a smile on your lips and a large grin on his. "Throw in a pastry next time and I'm yours,"
When people saw you get out the same car there were some rumours to say the least. Another drawback of the job. However, another perk was walking in right now with a coffee and a suspiciously sweet-smelling brown bag.
"I wasn't sure which to get so I picked whichever looked the sweetest," he said as he placed the bag down.
"You know me so well," you grinned, "thanks though. Take it you don't have time to have one before practise?" You asked despite knowing he didn’t, but you couldn't help but try.
Your smile plus the way your eyelashes batted had Jan Maas willing to pay the late fee. "I suppose one wouldn't hurt," he said as he moved to sit on the edge of the reception desk as you offered him a pastry, "You should make Stroopkoeken with me one day. You'd like them,"
"What are they?" You asked, not realising how adorable Jan thought your head tilt was in your confusion.
"They're like a Carmel biscuit. My mum would make them for me growing up. Better than any Starbucks pastry," he joked, “But you have to make them from scratch to get the best experience,”
“You’ll have to teach me some time,” you smiled back and is if on queue his phone began ringing.
Jan deflated when he saw his teammates call, “I’ll need to go now. I’ll see you later,”
As he began to walk away you cringed before taking a deep breath, “Wait!” you called making him stop in his tracks. “Are you free tomorrow night? Maybe we could try making those biscuits,” you offered with an awkward smile that he found insanely endearing.
A wide grin broke onto his face, “I’d love to. It’s a date,” he said before actually turning to go to practise, leaving you a grinning mess.
-
“A baking date is perfect!”
“Nah man you should go out to a restaurant for the first date,”
“Oh, what if you take her to Sam’s place for dinner first?”
“There’s a new bar up the street you could go to after,”
“What you gonna wear bruv?”
“Make sure you actually clean up. Chicks notice that kinda stuff,”
“Oh, you should get her flowers. Birds dig flowers,”
“And make sure when you go to kiss her- “
“Woah woah guys!” Jan said, standing up from the bench and pushing past his teammates who’d essentially jumped on him after practise when they found out why he was late, “It’s just a first date. Well, I think it’s a date. I said it’s a date, but people here don’t always mean date, oh god what if she doesn’t realise it’s a date?” Jan began to panic, turning to his equally clueless mates.
They were all panicking till a loud, “Oi,” stopped them, “Don’t listen to these pricks,” Roy told him after pretending not to care the whole time, “Shower, shave, tidy up, and calm down. She’ll know it’s a date since all you two do is flirt like some snot nosed teens,” he said, rolling his eyes.
“Roy’s right,” Sam said, standing to put a hand on Jan’s shoulder, “You’ve got nothing to worry about,”
“Not what I said but alright,” Roy shrugged but this time he got ignored.
Well apart from Jamie who rolled his eyes before adding his own words of wisdom. “Yeah, mate just be yourself,”
-
The kitchen was now a mess, sugar spilt everywhere, and a pot that looked like it would never be clean again and of course a plate of perfectly made biscuits. “I don’t know how my mum made it look so easy,” Jan said.
You laughed as you reached up to wipe the flour off his forehead, “Yeah but they taste good so who cares,” you said, noticing the way his cheeks tinged pink whenever you touched him.
“They’re almost as sweet as you,” he smiled softly, brushing your hair out of your face making your own skin flush.
Enough was enough you thought, “So tell me something,” you said, Jan humming as he waited for you to ask, “Why haven’t you kissed me yet?” you nearly whispered.
“I thought you’d never ask,”

"sakura, good morning!" shizune waves her over and gives her coffee.
"busy day huh." most days, she's thankful the hospital staff already knows her preferred brew—dark, hot, bitter.
"you wouldn't believe what just happened though." shizune sips her iced latte. "sasuke asked for your schedule."
sakura takes a beat to reply, savoring instead the aromatic notes that slowly wake her 18-hour-shift-riddled senses. "oh yeah. we agreed to discuss new chore arrangements."
"you're living together."
"he's sleeping over."
"living. together."
"should i blush?" sakura winces. "besides, it has only been a few months. well, a year."
shizune slaps her back and leaves in a giddy. "you're already blushing, lover girl."
===
"hey thanks for dropping these off." naruto grins at her through towering stacks of folders.
"we really should organize a courier system or tap into those digital things gaara has been using in suna."
"totally agree with you." he hands her a chocolate bar. for a few minutes, they pass the sugar supply back and forth, grateful for the silence and the little indulgent treat from olden days.
"by the way, sasuke has been asking some weird things."
"such as?"
"like your favorite color, favorite food, favorite music." naruto gets the last chocolate cube. he cracks it into uneven halves and gives the smaller one to her, as usual. "so i told him mine are red and shoyu ramen."
sakura laughs and pops the piece into her mouth. "back to work, future hokage-san."
===
"where's ino?"
sai hands her an apron and an order slip. sakura releases a petulant sigh, rolls her eyes, and begins to pick the flowers listed. she waits until sai settles on the presentation and prods again.
"supplier issue." he shows her a peony and a carnation.
"the peony definitely."
sai shrugs and finishes off the bouquet. "we had a curious customer earlier."
"hmm?"
"sasuke came in. he said he didn't want reds. it would be too obvious, he said. so i suggested whites."
"mums?"
"uh-uh and roses and lilies."
sakura turns pensive at this. "he must have bought them for his family." she smiles at sai and pats him on the shoulder. "you're sometimes kind-hearted, aren't you?"
sai's fixed smile fades. "sakura, he didn't—"
a customer dings the bell and sakura, already sensing sai's intention, slips out of the boutique like a true swift kunoichi.
===
"haruno-san."
"yes, i know it's midnight and i need to go home."
the guard loiters by her door. "actually, you have a visitor. he's at the wisteria arch."
"oh? but it's so late. can't this wait until morning?"
"it's the uchiha ma'am," the guard purses his lips, "he's been camping since eight in the evening."
sakura runs. she hates running in corridors, particularly when half of the people are asleep, but she manages to reach the grounds without an ambush diagnostic or a surprise checkup.
sasuke is waiting. there is a picnic blanket in a hideous shade of bright red under him, a basket, a bouquet, a bottle of wine that must be lukewarm by now.
"shizune said you were free tonight," he said.
"what's all this for?" sakura has to catch her breath. she sits across him and takes him in. gorgeous, even under the pale moonlight.
"i never got the right answers." sasuke pulls every item out of the basket. thermos for hot water, instant ramen packs, dango, a lunchbox that smells like curry, spring rolls. "i don't know exactly what you like. i don't know if you still like the food that you liked when we were kids."
"i still have a sweet tooth," sakura chuckles as she reaches for the dango.
"but i noticed you always ask me to cook curry and you never fail to look for spring rolls."
"because you cook curry the best, sasuke-kun, that's why i love it the most."
he avoids her chiding glance and hands her instead the bunch of daffodils. "i also don't know if you still like these flowers. you would pick them up in the forest, remember? trying to make me and naruto and kakashi wear these crowns of yellow blooms."
sakura laughs at the surfacing memories. "they're very beautiful, sasuke-kun." she basks for a while in the afterglow of his awkward yet patient persistence as he scoots closer to her side and slowly brushes her fingers against his in reacquaintance.
"what's with all these though? what did i miss?" sakura entangles their hands together, his thumb caressing her knuckles.
"happy anniversary."
"..."
"..."
"fuck."
"not here sakura."
"i forgot about it! fuck!"
"it's okay, let me." sasuke plants her down with a hand on her cheek. "you're busy, and there are few things in life i look forward in celebrating."
"i'm so sorry."
"i think it's me who has to apologize. i haven't nailed down everything."
"well, we've got the rest of our lives to figure that out."
sasuke hides a smile. "that's a plan."

HI IM AUDITIONING FOR THE HOLIDAY ROLE OF OPENING PRESENTS WITH JAMIE TARTT PLEASE
2023 Holiday Blurbs
Every year, you and Jamie both come up with a maximum amount of presents to get each other, and every year, neither of you follow those guidelines. You just can’t help yourself, always feeling a need to spoil Jamie and physically unable to resist buying something you know he’ll love. Jamie’s the same exact way, and you’re not sure why you both pretend to agree not to spoil each other when you always turn around and do the opposite, but it’s practically a tradition at this point.
To no one’s surprise, the space around the tree is absolutely covered in presents come Christmas morning, and you can’t help but to laugh at the slightly ridiculous sight.
“Definitely went a little overboard,” Jamie says from the foot of the stairs, looking just a little bit sheepish.
“We’ll have to tone it down for next year,” you respond with a grin, knowing that if anything, you’ll only go even more overboard next year.
Despite the urge to rush to the tree and tear into the wrapping, you and Jamie head first to the kitchen, making coffee even though you’re both already close to bouncing off the walls with excitement. Every year, it gets harder and harder not to fall asleep halfway through dinner, so even though you’re energized now, the coffee is an essential part of the morning.
“Mum and Simon are on their way over, but I already warned them that you’re impatient and can’t wait to open your gifts,” Jamie says as you make your way back to the tree, coffee mugs in hand, as if he isn’t the one who’d sit and stare at the unopened gifts like a desperate child. Either way, it’s nice to get a moment with just the two of you in between all the holiday chaos, a moment to share your love with each other through your inability to not spoil each other.
The two of you take your seats in front of the tree, looking like eager children instead of respectable adults, but there’s no one to tell you no. You take turns handing each other gifts, getting to decide which one they open and when. It’s amazing to see just how much Jamie pays attention, how he can remember even the little things you point out or mention, with silly little gifts you’d said you liked months ago or a book you’ve wanted to read for forever but haven’t been able to find.
Jamie, the man who could buy whatever he wants whenever he wants, is surprisingly easy to shop for, even when you know he’d love anything you give him for the simple fact that it’s from you. Every time he opens a gift, he reacts like it’s the best thing he’s ever gotten, and you really do believe him, believe that he’s just over the moon that you think of him and know him well enough to buy something for him.
When you reach the end of the pile of gifts, and you both have one gift left, you decide to open them together, too overjoyed to notice how similar the packages look. Opening yours, there’s a simple chain with a letter j charm, and before you can really admire it, you’re bursting with laughter because you’d gotten Jamie that same exact thing. Once he holds up the chain with your first initial, he joins in with your laughter, the two of you barely settling enough to help each other with the clasps.

Headcanons
Kay Dathnyar recently turned 100 years old. Underage by elven standard, he’s been married thrice, fathered five half-elves, and has had seven grandkids and ten great-grandkids.
For the last twenty years, he’s owned a tavern called “The Last Pixie” and is always ready to tell passersby why elves are a done cause.
“We are going extinct anyway,” he says to push anyone drunk enough to leave the tavern. “We need to fuck as many humans as we can and pass some decent bits of elven culture to our half-elven kids. Humans and half-bloods, that’s the future, not us!”
Kay is also proud to say he knows everything about his progeny. Dates of birth, fears and desires, favorite dishes and activities. He is often asked to solve issues between them and proudly takes the role of a wise advisor, but since he is still young, his advice isn’t always rational.
“Do you have any idea how many kids you have?” A tiefling called Birgga asks him. He is older than Kay by a decade and uses it to his advantage.
“I have at least five,” Kay puts a mug of ale in front of him.
“Don’t be ridiculous, none of your wives has made you monogamous. There must be more than five.”
“Nonsense!” he says, noticing his wife, a forty-year-old blacksmith watching.
“Hm, wasn’t it you who slept with a married woman in the Sunset mountains? You are lucky her husband was away! The chieftain would have flayed you alive.”
“Well, even if it happened 80 years ago, I’ve been smart enough not to return there. They would definitely recognize me!”
“It’s difficult not to. Your face was made for mugshots.”
“I doubt they have them in those wild places. Maybe I should have taken that gal with me.”
“Ughm, her and her three sons?”
“The more the better, Birgga. Oh, how can you know? You don’t have children at all. Maybe we should find you a wife. Or do you prefer men?”
“Fuck you, elves, and your bisexuality.”
The tavern is quiet. There haven’t been any visitors for days – people are whispering something about demons and monsters on the roads. Some even talked about the mind flayers' attack on Baldur’s Gate that happened 45 years ago but Kay thinks that’s not really the cause of the stillness.
Still, there have been very few visitors. It's not like Kay needed money (he’s got enough saved in his chests), but the elf dislikes not seeing new faces.
A soft knock at the door snaps him out of his thoughts.
**
Sylenn Ancunin notices the tavern from a distance.
“The Last Pixie''. The slur is written in both Common and Elven (and also in Infernal) and Sylenn wonders if she should even enter the place. She knows the hostility of N’Tel-Quessira too well and she isn’t in the mood and shape to fight.
She is five centuries old but still wears heavy armor like she did when she was young.
But she doesn't want to. Sylenn is old and bitter even though she looks young.
And she is coming home to Evereska to pay respects to her husband who was much older than her and must have been dead for centuries. And to wither in peace, hoping the Seldarine will have mercy on her.
“Come in, whoever you might be! We barely have guests!”
Sylenn enters the tavern and sees another elf at the bar.
“Welcome to the Last Pixie, etriel. Do you wish for a room or a drink? Or maybe both?” The elf outstretches his right hand to her in the human greeting. “Name’s Kay Dathnyar, I am the proud owner of this place!”
“Owner,” Sylenn looks at him. “Then why did you call this place like that?”
“The Last Pixie? Well, aren’t we all the last of our kind? Here, have a drink.”
Sylenn watches Kay. He is young, underage even. Dark hair, green eyes. Moon elf, like her. But he talks like a human, even his elven words reveal an accent.
One of these young souls who think they can live among humans and not suffer from constant grief.
“Are you an adventurer?” Kay asks.
“I was once,” Sylenn says. “Well, I still am. Sometimes.”
“How much for telling me why the fuck no one wanders these roads?”
“Yeah!” The tiefling adds. “It’s bad for business, you know? And we are peaceful people here, we enjoy ale and meat and would like to keep it this way!”
Sylenn notices three human girls watching her from the stairs. They watch Sylenn with the awe human children have for elves.
“Go to sleep, you, three!” Kay orders.
“But Grandpa!”
“Go to sleep, or I won’t allow you to stay here after sunset! Kids…” He adds when girls disappear upstairs. “They grow so fast! Like, one day they perfectly fit in one arm and the next week you are beating the shit out of their boyfriends!”
“Are they yours?”
“All mine, five children, seven grandkids, and ten great-grandkids. All live in Delimbiyr Vale but mostly here, in Loudwater. Family business.”
Sylenn frowns.
“I am sorry for you.”
“What for?”
“Because they will die. And you will bury them. Every single one of them.”
Birgga makes a disgruntled sound.
“Do you think I am not aware of that? I have buried two of my human wives and soon will become a widower for the third time,” Kay switches to Elven. “I’ve chosen this life.”
“You don’t fully understand. There is nothing worse than burying your own children. My daughter was killed when she was four. And my son… My son died bleeding to death in the streets of Baldur’s Gate. You’ve condemned yourself, Kay Dathnyar.”
“Well, etriel, then I welcome you to the house of the condemned!”
Sylenn decides to get drunk. Ale doesn’t affect her easily and she keeps ordering more till even Birgga starts giving her advice on how to avoid a hangover.
“I have never seen anyone with her constitution drink that much!” Birgga mutters to Kay.
“You know how they say dwarves have the best ale tolerance? It’s a lie. Elves live for centuries and we can drink pure alcohol by the time we are old enough to forget our youth.”
“Well, at least she pays.”
“I am giving her a discount.”
“Why? Kay, since when you are into charity?” Birgga almost hisses.
Sylenn pretends she doesn’t hear them. A young half-elf, who introduced himself as Lym and who has the same black hair as his father, keeps bringing her drinks.
Another shitty thing about being so old.You can’t get drunk.
A weird quirk – Sylenn remembers her grandfather, who was eight hundred when she was born, complaining he can’t drink away his memories. She laughed at him back then but now she suspects she inherited the same trait.
And she wishes she could have shut the memories up.
Her first husband, her thiramin, the love of her whole life, slaughtered by humans like prey. Their daughter, a silver-curled baby, brutally murdered by orcs when she was only four. Sylenn’s friends, aging and dying. Her second husband – Caeldrim. He was so much older than her that everyone thought she was his daughter. A good person, wise and reserved. Sylenn left him to look for their son in Baldur’s Gate, where she found nothing but his grave in the human cemetery. After that, she decided to never return to Evereska.
Maybe it was her fault, after all. She was told not to give her son an adult name right away. A bad sign. But she insisted that the baby boy in her arms must be named Astarion and should he not like it, he would be free to choose another one later.
And he died. Barely forty, a child by elven standards. Murdered and buried, all alone. She shouldn’t have let him go. Maybe later, when he would have been more prepared for the life out there.
“Hey, what’s happening?” Suddenly, Kay rushes to the doors. Sylenn hears distant cries and the sound of something heavy collapsing on wooden buildings. “Lym, get your brothers!”
Sylenn gets up and reaches for her sword and shield.
“Kay, hide everyone inside. It’s not a battle you can win.”
“It’s just an ogre.”
“That's not the point. Tell everyone to hide inside!”
Sylenn quickly fastens the straps of her heavy armor and prepares the shield and sword.
A creature made of stone and wrath is crushing trees and barns. It grabs unfortunate village dwellers, smashing them just for the sake of it, and their lifeless bodies fall on the ground.
Ogremoch.
What in hell is it doing so far from the Earth plane?
“You!” Sylenn yells. “Attack someone who can fight back! Come closer! My sword is eager to pierce your stone flesh!”
“Sylenn, for fuck sake!’ Kay grabs her hand but Sylenn easily sets herself free and the young elf falls down. “Go and protect your family!”
The ogremoch roars and rushes towards her ready to smash the elven warrior with its fist. Sylenn protects herself with her shield, almost breaking the e monster’s arm.
She immediately jumps to her right and keeps her stance.
But before she manages to attack, the monster sweeps her off her feet. Her helmet flies away.
A powerful blow to her chest, which even heavy armor cannot protect her from, knocks the spirit out of the elven warrior. She coughs blood. The world gets blurry around her, and she can’t hear anything but the ringing in her ears.
Astarion must have felt the same, she thinks. When he was beaten to death.
Another blow.
She can feel the beast’s anger. How is she still alive? All thanks to the heavy armor.
Maybe she should just let the orgremoch do what it wants?
Sylenn has been hoping to die in battle. Sure, being murdered by a mindless creature in a village so tiny maps forget to mention it doesn’t sound particularly noble…
But why not?
Sylenn smiles.
“Corellon Larethian, to you I give my soul… Have… Mercy… On… Me,” Sylenn croaks, slipping into oblivion.
A whistle pierces the air. Ogremoch shrieks as a crossbow’s bolt gets stuck in its right eye.
“Fuck off from my property!” Kay Dathnyar recharges.
Ogremoch rushes to the young elf but fails to catch him. Kay helps Sylenn to get off the ground.
“Move!” Sylenn adopted her stance again. “Shoot from a distance!”
With a battle cry, Sylenn Ancunín lunges forward and her sword pierces the stone-like monster’s skin.
Alright, she thinks, as the monster collapses and her own legs wobble.
Not today, I guess.
Kay helps her to stand up and allows hSylenner to lean on him while walking her back to the tavern.
“I would have carried you on my shoulders, but my back wouldn’t thank me.”
“I've already been carried this month like that,” she says. “A dhampir. Alethaine or Athelaine. Carried me from a dungeon as if I weighed no more than a cat.”
“A dhampir?” Kay notices. “Vampires have been breeding like rabbits over the past 40 years, dhampirs are as common as tieflings now!”
“I beg your pardon!” Birgga helps Sylenn to unfasten her armor.
“I tell you, It's like some asshole released a bunch of vampires all at once,” Kay says.
“Hm, about 30 years ago I fucked a woman…” Birgga reminisced.
“Congratulations, you won’t die a virgin.”
“... I fucked a woman and she was so cold and pale, I am sure she was a vampire!”
Sylenn, finally free of her armor, groans. It seems like she hasn’t received any serious damage, but she feels exhausted and weak.
“Kay is right, there have been too many half-undeads and undeads recently. And also monsters and demons. The world’s wheel is in motion again and I doubt these changes will do us any good.”
Suddenly, Sylenn notices there are a bunch of young humans and half elves gathering outside the tavern. Not all look like Kay, so she suspects it’s just village kids.
“Look, it’s her! The elf who killed the monster!”
“Did you see it? She murdered it like Thetir the Dragonslayer!”
“Hey!” Kay notices them. “Leave her be!”
“That’s all right,” Sylenn smiles. “Let them.”
The small crowd of youthlings immediately surround Sylenn.
“How old are you?” A human girl whose nose and eyes resemble Kay’s.
One of the older girls shushes at her.
“I am 517.”
“Wow! It means you are almost as old as Baldur’s Gate!”
Sylenn grabs a mug of ale.
“I was Balduran’s bodyguard in the times when he founded the city.”
A cheer of awe erupts among the kids.
It’s fun to talk to these children. Sylenn has lived so long she’s forgotten her life wasn’t only grief and sorrows.
“... So, Balduran comes to me, angry as a troll, and yells ‘Sylenn! Stop drinking when I am talking to you!’ And I was like, ‘Balduran, with all the respect I don’t feel for you, I cannot take your bullshit seriously when I am sober!’”
“... And then I realized they were sailing west and if I didn’t quit now I would have to spend months watching Balduran and Ansur having their love drama. So, I stood at the aft of the ship, opened my arms, and fell into the sea. And seconds later it came to my mind that, maybe, I shouldn’t have jumped into the open sea in full armor! My grandpa would always tell me: ‘Syl, your brain is capable of only one coherent thought per day, and even then it backfires!’”
“... So, I got right into the evil sorceress's lair and she looked at me, in all her dark magic glory, and said ‘Sylenn Ancunin, I thought you were smarter.’ And my first husband, who she’d taken hostage, stares at her and says: ‘Lady, honestly, you really thought SHE WAS SMART?!’”
“... All right, all right, by the time I got my adult name, I finally learned not to mess with things that were bigger than me. I got a quest from a wood elf. Don’t remember his name, their clan was called Goldenroots or Goldenboughs, for some reason, they’d translated it to Common. And a young elf asked me to look after his father who’d run away with a sword. Their ancestors were Star Elves and they were passing a very particular sword from father to son. I went looking for the old elf and found him dead – he died in the dumbest way! He’d picked a spear which was clearly cursed. I took the sword – a very beautiful one and magical to the point it probably had its own will. Returned it back to the owner and was like ‘Bad news, your father died.’ And this Goldenroot elf chuckled and said ‘Thank gods I don’t have to tolerate his bullshit anymore. I hope he will reincarnate as a drow.’” Family dynamics can be so weird!”
**
“I am leaving,” Sylenn says to Kay two days later. “I am going East.”
“To Evereska?”
She nods.
“It was nice to meet you, Sylenn.” He smiles.
“The feeling is mutual. Uluvathae, Kay!”
“Wait, these lands are dangerous to walk alone. Follow me.”
Kay takes Sylenn to the horse farm at the edge of the village. A herd of horses with silvery manes grazes peacefully in the grass, and their master, a young man in his twenties, sleeps by the stable.
“They look like horses from Evereska, but they are bigger,” she notices.
“We breed them with regular horses. They are not as fast and smart as their ancestors who let elves ride them, but they are stronger and bigger than the ones humans use. Nim, wake up!”
“Oh, hi Grandpa.” The young man yawns.
“I am our great-grandpa, lazy ass. Give Sylenn Lunar.”
“Are you kidding? Lunar is our best horse! It costs as much as your tavern!”
Kay slaps him on the head.
“My tavern is priceless. Go get Lunar!”
Nim groans and a few minutes later returns with a gorgeous mare.
“Here, she is yours. She will take you to Evereska fast and safely.”
“Kay, I don’t have money to pay you!”
“Nonsense, Sylenn. You saved us. And besides, doomed we are or not, we are both born of Corellon’s blood. But you can repay me,” he adds when Sylenn saddles the horse and takes the reins. “I want you to tell everyone you meet on the road that ‘The Last Pixie’ is the best tavern you’ve ever been to!”
Sylenn laughs hearing the slur.
“No, no, I am serious, Sylenn, I need you to say the name out loud.”
“Alright! ‘The Last Pixie’ owned by Kay Dathnyar is the best tavern you can find!”
**
The same day, Luskan.
“Do you think they know you are a vampire?” Tiriel points at the guild members, feasting in the big hall. Astarion, as usual, stays inside the library doing the paperwork.
“I am sure they do, but should they want to make a big deal out of it, I will do the same out of their past. For example, our archer is a drow who masks himself as a wood elf. And the genasi-monk is not a monk and is wanted in Neverwinter for cannibalism.”
Tiriel sits beside him and puts her head on his shoulder.
“I love you.”
Astarion chuckles and kisses her cheek, tugging Tiriel closer. “My sweet, I love you, too.”
**
The same day, Waterdeep.
Alethaine Ancunín puts out the campfire, packs her things, and climbs the hill to see the City of Splendors better.
It looks much bigger and more beautiful than in the pictures.
The young necromancer adjusts the circlet on her head – it was given to her by an elderly elf, Sylenn, a month ago. A reward for saving her from the shadows in the dungeons. She said she’d made it for her deceased son and Alethaine sometimes feels a bit weird wearing it.
But then she sees her own reflection and reminds herself the circlet looks like it was made for her. It suits her silver hair and pitch-black eyes.
Maybe, the dead son of Sylenn looked similar to Alethaine.
“Well, Waterdeep it is,” Alethaine licks her dhampir fangs. “I have a very good feeling about this!”
--
I won't elaborate on the fact Birgga might be Theris' father. Also, the wood elf Sylenn returned the sword to is Elren Goldenroot's, Alethaine's husband-to-be, grandfather.

what kind of a ghost they would be pt. 3
pt1 pt2
albedo
the curious one. you’ll notice him very soon, since he’s so nosy and so interested you. you did not expect to meet any ghosts in you new apartment, yet here he is. he’ll intoduce himself in the most gentle manner, you probably won’t be scared of him. he looks like the most polite ghost you’ve met, and he’s the only ghost you’ve met. he’s very interested in the fact that you’re actually seeing him, since no one before you could do that, let alone hold his hand. he’ll spend a lot of his time near you, asking his questions and answering yours. you had learnt that he was a scientist, years ago. you assume he’s centuries old, because of the way he speaks. he told you that he did his research about past life and he doesn’t know when it comes, but for now he’s still there. you become friends fairly soon, because of how friendly and curious he is. actually, he really enjoys talking, since he had not had a single conversation in years, because he is, well, a ghost, so now he’s literally drowning you with information he can’t wait to share. to be honest, some parts of this information may sound quite disturbing to you, but you’ll make nothing of it. albedo is so nice, it probably doesn’t mean anything serious. he has his quirks, for example he likes watching you sleep, and it creepes you out, but he’s just like that. there’s a lot of things actually that creep you out, but you assume it’s because he was kind of all alone for years. he’s naturally curious. after some time he starts to make some remarks about how he did not expact this and that from you. you’re so interesting, he wants to know more. he needs to know what you’d do in certain situations. that’s what you need to remember: he likes to observe. he had spent years searching for missing info, he needed that to finish his research, and now, somehow, there’s a person who he can talk to. he’s always, always observing you. he, sure, won’t let you forget that.
xiao
the quiet one. actually, you won’t notice him. there’s just a feeling of somebody else’s presence, which of course, scares you, but soon you’ll feel better. he has no intentions of interacting with you, it just happens. it’s very small things that he does: putting your dishes in place when you forget, watering your plants, adding the exact amount of sugar cubes in your coffee, whe you forget to do so. he does this just because he can and there’s nothing to do in the afterlife really. he already thinks that this - him being a ghost no one can see - is a punishment for his sins. at first you feel like you going insane, noticing thing that you definitely did not do, yet they’re always done for you. plus constant feeling of somebody’s presense - you soon realise that someone really lives with you here, and this someone certainly doesn’t want to hurt you. so you create a sort of an altar, out of gratitude. you put a lot of snacks here: spicy, savoury, yet you notice that the sweet ones are the only ones that disappear. xiao doesn’t really need food, but your actions amuse him, and those sweets remind him of good times. he feels better when he takes them, so he does. he also feels better when he helps you, so he does. you both truly feel warm with one another, even though you have never seen each other. you know someone’s really kind watching over you, and you’re happy to show how grateful you are. every time you feel somebody’s presence near you, you say thank you - and it shatters xiao’s heart, because he rarely actually heard such words. time truly flies like that, with you believing you live here and somebody protects you and guids you, and xiao, who feels lighter, and lighter, and lighter, until one day he’s finally able to push himself from the ground and see, what’s behind the door.
tighnari
the grumpy one. you’ll hear from him a lot even before you meet him in person. it’s always noisy in your new house, and at first you can’t figure out why. you hear somebody’s mumbling and grumbling constantly, and you’re scared a bit, because you think there’s a robber. you’ll meet him at the most random time, so casually it almost scares you more than the whole fact that there’re a ghost in your home. he had lived in this house for far longer than you, it’s His house, yk, so he let’s you know you need to play by his rules. which means you clean the house, you watch over his plants, and he says all of this to you like... like he’s not dead in the first place. he shushes you if you stay late, he teases you if you get bad grades because you were too lazy to study, he truly gets furious and scary if you don’t do your dishes. he will throw books at you if you try to ignore him. he’s very annoying, because he’s always pushing you, but still in a very endearing way. somehow it still fells like you live with a friend of sorts because with time you sure grew fond of each other. he’s very unique even for a ghost. he does not remember why he died and when, but he remembers his friends and family well, that’s why he kept his caring nature. you don’t talk about afterlife, because you personally never thought of it, and he does not tell you everything, yet you know that plae is not where he belongs. he tries to give you everything he can while he’s still here, even though sometimes it comes out as harsh, it’s just that he doesn’t have much time. and he wants the best for you, so he tries to share his knowledge. and even if you complain a lot because of his nagging, you still feel a void in your chest, when one day you can’t find him anywhere in the house. suddenly the house is too quiet, so eventually you move out, unable to bear the constant silence. you’ll miss him a lot.
scaramouche
the lost one. this strange doll you found in your basement - maybe this was the cause of your sleepless nights? you’ve always heard somebody’s crying, a child, probably, yet you’ve never found anyone. and you’re actually right - the doll is the problem, just not in the way you had expected. so now you have a ghost in your house, to top it all. a very annoying one - the one that throws your things around just to piss you off, the one that doesn’t let you sleep, the one that steals your food even though he definitely doesn’t need it. he refuses to tell you his name, so you come up with something equally as annoying as him. few weeks later your house and your mental state is a mess. and you still hear the cries, from time to time. since you see the ghost constantly, you can’t but notice how he usually watches you carefully, as if expecting something from you. he once asks you why you still haven’t moved out. the question in itself is confusing. you thought it was his main goal. he was always so mean to you, and even if he did not directly endangered your life, he still managed to truly make your life here a living hell. but you have nowhere to go, and, frankly, you don’t want to go anywhere. this is your home, however bad it is. he does not believe you at first, and his pranks are getting more and more malicious, until you literally can’t take it anymore and just ask what’s his problem with you, why he so desperately wants you out. little do you know, it’s actually the opposite. he fears loneliness more than anything, he brought his abandonment issues with him even after his death. he had spent so many years alone, with people leaving the second he starts his pranks, because of course he first needs to see if they’re really worth staying, and none of them has passed. he’s afraid he crossed the line this time, so he appologizes for the first time. he’ll finally stop with his mean behaviour, and soon you’ll find out he’s actually quite nice, when he’s not the most terrible person to ever exist. with time you’ll learn how to se right through him, you’ll learn how unintentionally funny he is. and how much he cares about you, even though he denies it. he’ll make meals for you, whe you’re overworked, he’ll help you with cleaning. he complains a lot, but it’s him who sggested it in the first place. he’s pretty clingy too. he can’t leave the house with you, and he’s terrified you won’t come back, so every time you leave the house he waits for you in the front door. sometimes he’ll hide your clothes so you don’t go to work and stay at home with him. it's a long journey for him to finally believe that you won’t go anywhere. you’ll always come back. it took a lot for a doll to finally stop crying.

for the mini fic prompt, could you do hurt/comfort where jamie hyperventilates and has a panic attack in mom city? and with keeley and roy to help him through it
Y’all really looked at the angst and h/c of the last one and went ‘yup’, huh? I love it.
Went back and forth on when in Mom City to place this but there is a good chunk of unaccounted for time in the episode where we know Jamie, Roy and Keeley were all together.
Thank you for the prompt and I hope you enjoy.
(Prompt Fill Masterpost)
—
They ended up in the hotel bar. It was hardly the most glamorous spot in the city and Jamie felt a bit like he should be doing more to show Roy and Keeley around his hometown.
The truth was, though, that he was still just bone-deep tired. He hadn’t missed the way Roy had eyed him assessingly before telling Keeley that Jamie wasn’t allowed cocktails and making a fuss about the team curfew.
Jamie was grateful for it. Not that he would ever admit it out loud.
So all three of them had retraced their steps back to the Hacienda and found a quiet corner that kept them mostly hidden from the view of other guests enjoying a nightcap. Roy had looked entirely too pleased with himself when he returned from the bar with a beer, something pink and foamy for Keeley, and a neon-coloured, sugary monstrosity of a mocktail that he set down in front of Jamie.
The umbrella in it was a nice touch.
It drew out a bout of good natured teasing that it was easy to laugh at, to fall into a familiar rhythm with, but Jamie quickly resorted to quietly sipping his glorified fruit juice while Roy and Keeley (mostly Keeley) carried on the conversation around him.
Talking seemed like so much effort, right then.
Don’t get him wrong, seeing his mum had helped loads. It always did. She never judged him for anything and always understood what he was trying to say, regardless of whatever mixed metaphors he came up with to describe the mess in his head.
Just spending a bit of time with her had settled something in his chest that felt like it had rattled loose weeks ago.
But that feeling of dread that had dogged so many of his waking hours was still pulling at the back of his mind. It was with a sort of detached fascination that Jamie noticed his fingers shaking when he reached for his glass.
“Jamie?”
“Hmm?” He startled and looked up from the table to see Roy and Keeley staring right at him, twin expressions of pinched concern on their faces. Like a weird parody of those posters in his room. “Oh, er, sorry, Keels. Miles away.”
“You should get to bed.” Roy stated, frowning but not (Jamie thought) in an angry way. “We still need you tomorrow.”
Right.
“The crowd’s gonna hate you. And the person who’s gonna be booing the loudest in the crowd is your dad.”
Jamie stood abruptly, barely noticing the screech his chair made against the floor past the white noise suddenly rushing in his ears. He did notice the way concern shifted straight to fucking alarm across the table and stumbled over an apology.
“Sorry! Sorry, I’ll just go. Upstairs.” He swallowed and it made his stomach churn. Could you sweat on the inside of your mouth? It definitely felt like it. “Need me rest, don’t I?”
Roy was already getting up too. “Fuck, Jamie, I didn’t mean…”
“Stay for a bit? We’ll walk you up.” Keeley chimed in, looking at Jamie with big, liquid eyes and shit, he couldn’t handle any more of this.
He said something, he thought, but didn’t know or care if it made sense. He just shook his head and backed away quickly, keenly aware of the eyes on him as he made a beeline for the lobby.
Jamie shouldered open the door to the stairwell without making a conscious decision to take the stairs. It probably wasn’t a good idea - the shaking in his fingers had apparently spread and it felt like pins and needles were running up his legs. Everything about how he was feeling made the plushly carpeted steps seem horribly intimidating.
In the absence of a better option, he sank down to sit on them instead, clutching onto the wall and only barely aware of the short, sharp breaths he was pulling in. His chest felt like he’d been doing Roy’s sadistic suicide runs all day.
Funny, his vision swam when he did those too.
He closed his eyes against the nausea that swamped him as if a tide of awful was rushing over his head and just tried to breathe, to focus on the sound and rhythm of air sucked into his lungs instead of anything else.
The feeling of hands on him jolted through his body like a shockwave.
“No!” He flailed his arms in an effort to get away and pressed back against the wall, looking around wildly.
“Shit, shit, sorry love.” For a terrifying second, Jamie didn’t even recognise Keeley, too confused by her sudden appearance. She was perched on the stairs too, hands snatched back against her chest to keep from reaching out again. “It’s just us. You’re okay.”
“Oi, Tartt.” Oh, Roy was there too, crouching down to his level and fixing him with a remarkably steady look. Right now, that seemed like some sort of superpower. Roy Fucking Kent, eh?
“Look at me, alright? Deep breath in.” He gestured to his own expanding ribcage and Jamie found himself following along. Copying his coach like it was the most natural thing in the world. He blew air out through pursed lips and drew it back in again. And again. And again. His eyes stayed fixed on Roy’s face, latched on to that cool, collected calm.
Slowly, the rest of the world started to filter back in and Jamie had the presence of mind to realise how ridiculous this all was. He was cowering in a corner like a scared kid while the two people he’d idolised for at least a fucking decade coddled him. His face felt wet.
He scrubbed his hands roughly over his eyes and cheeks, shifting into a more comfortable seating position and feeling his ears and neck burn with shame.
“Fuck.”
“Yeah.” Roy agreed, still watching him carefully. “Alright?”
Jamie nodded glumly then startled when Roy all but collapsed to sit on the floor below him. The calm of a moment ago had disappeared in the blink of an eye.
“Jesus Christ, don’t fucking do that again.” He practically snarled the words but didn’t actually look angry. He looked… something else. “Scared the shit out of me.”
Oh.
“Oh. Sorry.” Jamie offered weakly, baffled when Roy just shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Babe.” Keeley’s voice was quiet, tentative in a way he’d never really heard from her before. He turned to see that her eyes still looked huge, set in a paler than normal face. But she smiled at him. “Can I touch you now? Is that alright?”
That sounded fucking wonderful so Jamie nodded and went easily into her arms. She was tiny but he curled up to tuck his face against her shoulder, shivering when her fingers smoothed back his hair.
“That’s it, darling. We’ve got you. You’re gonna be okay.” She went on murmuring soft, nice little things to him as the shaking slowly left Jamie’s frame and he felt like his legs might support him again.
Eventually, he cleared his throat and sat back up straight. His eyes darted between them, seeing clearly now that they both looked properly terrible.
“... don’t suppose there’s any chance we can just forget that happened?” he tried hopefully. It did at least get a snort of laughter from Roy.
“Not a fucking hope in hell, you little prick.” He stood slowly, bracing a hand on the wall, and grimaced. “Ears.”
“What?” Jamie furrowed his brow in confusion when Keeley immediately slapped her hands over her ears. It quickly curdled into guilt when Roy reached down and viciously adjusted his knee with the worst cracking, squelching sound Jamie had ever heard. “Fucking hell, old man. What the fuck did you get on the floor for?”
Roy didn’t dignify that with an answer, just held out his hands to Jamie.
“C’mon, up. We’re not staying here all night.”
Jamie almost questioned what he meant by ‘we’, but just accepted the help instead and used Roy’s strong grip to pull himself back to standing.
Keeley followed his lead unaided and wrapped herself around Jamie’s arm, clearly intent on holding him for the foreseeable future. Or maybe she just thought he needed the extra support. That was valid.
Stairs were obviously not an option now, not with Roy wincing on every other step taken to show them back out into the lobby. Nevertheless, he hovered like a bodyguard, shielding the view of them both as much as he could with his own body until they reached the lift.
Keeley disentangled a hand to stab at the call button and they all herded into the small space like some bizarre conga line.
Jamie couldn’t even find it in himself to protest. Not when Keeley was soft and warm against his side, the smell of her perfume so achingly familiar. Not when Roy put a guiding hand to the small of his back and it drifted up to grip his shoulder once they were inside.
He found his voice, though, when Roy pressed the button for the eighth floor.
“I’m on six.” His suitcase was still sitting open on the bed, he thought, unpacked and lonely.
“My room’s bigger.” Roy told him gruffly, like that was any kind of answer, and made absolutely no move to change their destination.
Confused, Jamie let himself be led along to the room that Roy was apparently staying in and shuffled across the threshold. It actually was a bit nicer than his - that hardly seemed fair.
Keeley gently tugged him over the bed and sat him down. She smoothed back his hair again and it felt so nice.
“Do you need anything? I’m going to grab some of my stuff. I can go to your room too.”
Jamie scrunched up his face. It felt like he’d missed a whole conversation at some point.
“You’re sleeping in here.” Roy told him, tone brooking no argument and Jamie turned to him in surprise. “So we can make sure you do actually fucking sleep.”
Sure enough, Roy was turning down the bedsheets and moving his own things around. Making room.
“Oh.” Jamie considered that. The thought of spending the night alone with Roy Kent in a hotel room brought up a lot of very complicated feelings. Except, it sounded like Keeley was planning to stick around as well, didn’t it? And the idea of staying like this for the rest of the night, bracketed between them with nice words and soft touches, was more comforting than he could bear.
“Alright then.”

Hawthornes Kids headcanons.
I love these so much so why not make some of my own.
Grayson and phone girl (ik they’ll get married try and stop me) have a beautiful little girl, I think she’d have a really fancy name like, Beatrice or Desireè
Jameson and avery have one boy and one girl, (the girl is younger) called like Oliver and Madeline I think.
Max and xander have one little boy called Archer
Nash and Libby have two older twin girls called Sophie and Lilia.
Nash and Libby’s twins would always fight about stuff e.g hairbrushes, clothes and Nash would have to discipline them cause Libby hates telling off her little girls.
they both ride horses, their dad takes them every week for lessons.
On Saturdays there mum bakes for them (and they sometimes help her) and they love her cookies 🍪
Graysons daughter is very very shy, and since I think Grayson wouldn’t want to stay in Hawthorne house with the others, his daughter isn’t as close with her cousins as they are with eachother
She has blonde curly hair that her mother takes very good care of.
Other than the curly hair she looks exactly like Grayson.
She would go to a private school in either New York or London (you cannot convince me that Grayson doesn’t move to either one of those places)
although she looks like Grayson, she’s very sweet and is just like a really really shy version of Gigi.
she definitely has dimples.
and a big fluffy white cat called socks taht grayson has personal beef with.
She really loves animals so when they visit Hawthorne house Nash’s girls would always show her there horses.
Grayson absolutely spoils her, she mentions she wants something once? She’s got it, although I do think Grayson would discipline her and tell her to wait for Christmas or her birthday.
she’s a June baby
She always has a ribbon in her hair
when she was a bit younger and went to visit Hawthorne house she would hide behind a wall and watch her cousins play because she wanted to play with them but was too scared to ask 🥲
But eventually Jamesons daughter noticed her and invited her to play with them.
I also think she’d be suprisingly funny
Jamesons son is a nightmare.
he’s just like his father but so much worse, he’s definitely a crazy kid who runs around the house naked screaming that he wants mashed potatoes.
He plays football and in high school is like the ultimate popular kid.
I also agree with @hathorneheiress that he would be terrified of Grayson
He definitely hit his parents when he was little and didn’t get what he wanted.
he grew out of it though.
however, his sister was more of a whiner.
she looked just like Avery
she’s a little quieter than her brother and like her mother to read to her.
she’s very extroverted though, and can make Graysons daughter very nervous.
she’s on Country heights days debate team.
she then finds out that graysons daughter writes the speeches for her debate club, but doesn’t actually do the debating (cause y’know)
they bond over that and become really close.
She love love love loves butterflies, Jameson once bought her a book on different butterflies and she could name 20 different types by 7
Xanders son Is the perfect mix of him and max
him and Jamesons son get along perfectly
Grayson always catches them doing something they shouldn’t and every time jamesons kid starts crying and begging for Grayson to spare him. Grayson never tells
he really good and science
he once got and award for it in school and xander got him a dozen back of donuts for him to celebrate.
him and Isaiah are really close.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Hope you enjoyed these, I really loved writing them 😭

- Oh, wow! You look awesome, Y/n! – those were the first words you heard from Aaron’s mouth when you opened the door for him. You wanted to run to him, to hide under his jacket, to break down with his strong arms around you, but none of it was showing on your face.
- Thanks! I was kind of on the fence with this one... But a lot of my friends shaved their heads recently, so I guess I'm just basic for following a trend. - you played it down, but there was something in his eyes that you couldn't decipher. You smiled gently, making sure that your cheeks rose up and made the smile lines in the corners of your eyes, so it would look more genuine.
- The dinner is ready! Come on in, before it gets cold! - your mother's head peeked out from the kitchen. - Hi Aaron, good to see you again. - she gave the man a warm smile, before going back to the kitchen.
When you were walking down the hallway, you felt a soft touch on your lower back. You were far past caring about how you looked or what you were wearing, but you couldn't help but notice the contrast in between you and Aaron. He was still in his suit, and even after a whole day of work, there wasn't even one wrinkle on his jacket and shirt, while you were in your galaxy-patterned sweatpants that hung loosely around your hips, held only by a piece of string, and a ratty old t-shirt with a logo of a band that was once your favorite. It was a step up from all the blacks and greys you were wearing for the past month. At least that's what you wanted your parents to think, because the thought of you getting better was making them happy, and you didn't want them to worry even more than they already did.
You thought you saw your father freeze for a second when he realized how close you allowed his best friend to get to you, while for the last month, you had trouble getting a carton of milk from his hand, but he didn't say anything, hoping it was a sign of progress.
- The dinner looks lovely, Peggy... - Aaron complimented your mother’s cooking skills when all of you were seated at the table. Nobody commented on the fact that you were sitting with your feet on your chair and with your chin resting on your knee, even though you knew your mother definitely would bite your head off if you did that just a few months ago. But everything was different now.
- Thank you, but don't just look at it! Let's eat! - you faked a light chuckle at your mother's words and reached for the mashed potatoes because they were the closest to you. The portion you put on your plate was small, but you spread it out to make it look bigger. You didn't plan on eating because you weren't sure if you could even keep anything down. You knew you could get away with it if you made it look like you ate something. And if by the end of the meal, the food was covering less of a plate than at the beginning - your parents would leave you be.
Everyone kept the conversation light for your sake, but if you had to be honest - you were so detached from everything, that you could have talked about anything on autopilot and not even realize what exactly you were saying.
Aaron kept his hand on the back of your chair, letting his thumb brush over your shoulder blades from time to time, and it was the only thing you were able to focus on.
After dinner, you helped your dad with the dirty dishes, while your mum and Aaron were talking in the dining room. You were lost in your own thoughts, and that meant you weren't paying enough attention to what was happening around you. So when your dad accidentally got too close and your shoulders touched, you immediately jumped away and dropped the pot you were holding in your hands.
For a moment there was nothing, but pure panic and fear painted on your face, and you did your best to contain it as quickly as possible, but your dad noticed, even though you didn't want him to, because he did nothing wrong.
- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... - you said in a calm voice, bending down to get the pot, but before you did, your dad intercepted.
- It's ok, it's all right I can finish up here. - you rarely saw your father this broken, and it hurt to know that you were a cause of his pain.
- I will get better... - you added, trying to give him some hope before you left the kitchen.
- I know, honey... I know. - out of instinct he wanted to hug you, but he stopped himself mid-gesture and let his arms fall down, giving you an apologetic look. In response, you gave him a weak smile and left the room. You knew it would be proper to go back to the dining table, but you just couldn't...
So, you went upstairs and curled into a ball right outside of anyone's view. You couldn't bring yourself to go to your room yet, so you stayed where you were. You knew that your parents’ suitcases were already in the car so they wouldn't have to get them from their bedroom, and you would be left alone, at least for a while.
- Thank you for doing this again, Aaron... - you heard your father's muffled voice.
- It's honestly no problem. I didn't have any plans and she's not ready to be alone yet, so I'm more than happy to help.
- She is getting better though... - you smiled at your mother's words, glad that your deception was working. There was a short moment of silence, and she eventually continued. - You know where everything is, I've prepared fresh towels for you in the guest bathroom. We will be back tomorrow around noon unless the funeral will run longer or we'll be needed around the house, but in that case - I'll let you know.
- I can stay till Monday morning, so it's honestly fine. Take as long as you need, Peggy... She was your sister, and you need to process that properly. - there was another moment of silence. - And don't worry, I'll take good care of Y/n, I promise. - you could hear them getting up from the table and moving to the hallway, closer to you, but still out of sight.
- I know... If anything happens, no matter how small... - you heard the shuffling of the clothes, and a pair of heels moving against the floor.
- I'll call. - Aaron assured. - Have a safe drive.
- Thank you again. - the door opened, closed, and then there was silence, but for the first time in a while it wasn't aggressively clawing at your ears. - I know you're here. Come to the kitchen. - he said in a soft, yet commanding tone, and you didn't have a choice but follow. You didn't put any weight on your heels, so your steps were not audible, and yet he still was able to tell even with his back turned to you, that you were there.
You heard your parent's car leaving the garage, just as Aaron wrapped his big hands around your hips and plopped you on the kitchen counter. He was the only person you still felt safe around, and it made you feel guilty because your parents did nothing wrong and you didn't blame them for anything. And yet you still couldn't be with them in the same room for longer periods of time.
- You're not eating again. - it wasn't a question, and you knew there was no sense in lying to him. Even when you were a teenager, he was able to notice things that eluded your parents. - You were supposed to call me if that happened. - his tone of voice was stern, while he took strawberries out of the fridge and started de-stemming them.
- It's been only two... three days... - you mumbled under your nose, trying to minimalize the issue. - And I'm drinking this time... - he didn't make any comments, just reached for a peach from a fruit bowl and started peeling it. Technically he didn't have to, but he knew you didn't like the fuzzy skin. He eventually cut everything into bite-size pieces.
- And the hair...? - he asked. You only sighed and looked down, while he was putting the board and knife in the sink. He came closer to you, so now he was standing in between your thighs, and gently ran his fingers down your arms until he stopped at your wrists, which he turned up, fully expecting to see fresh marks on at least one of your chopping board tattoos, but there were no new additions. You had them done after your scars from high school finally healed. It took some time, but now he understood why you chose to emphasize the signs of the trauma on your body instead of putting it behind you, and now he was even able to find the joke amusing. He brought both of your wrists to his mouth and placed a small kiss on each of them. - The hair. - he repeated himself and you finally looked up.
- I couldn't stand them touching my neck, my cheeks, getting in my eyes... Every time they did, I could feel one of them tightening their grip on them and yanking my head. So I shaved it. - you eventually explained, trying to avert your gaze, but his hand was right under your chin, stopping you from turning away.
- Did it help? - he simply asked. He wasn't judging, didn't make any comments, just looked at you, studying your face intensely and putting his years as a profiler to good use. You nodded, and he gently run his thumb over your lips. - Open up. - you instantly followed his instructions, fully expecting him to put his finger there for you to suck on, but instead, with his other hand he put a strawberry on your extended tongue. - You need sustenance. - he simply said, and you couldn't even be mad that he tricked you like that, so you slowly started chewing on a piece of strawberry and the taste of it viciously attacked your taste buds. After a few days of nothing but water, even the sweet and mild taste of one of your favorite fruits was intense. Under his stern gaze, you finally swallowed, and he hummed, glad to see that you weren't fighting him on this one. - Again... - you obediently opened your mouth again and he placed another piece of fruit there, this time peach, but before he had the chance to take his hand away, you moved your head forward, closing your lips around two of his fingers licking and sucking them clean without breaking eye contact. He gently smiled and pulled his hand out of your mouth with a loud pop, allowing you to chew again. And as soon as you swallowed, he was there with another piece, feeding you by hand until the small bowl was empty. It wasn't much, but it was just enough not to upset your stomach, and your brain didn't even register it as eating, because of the way the food ended up in your mouth.
You gently grabbed the front of his white shirt and pulled him closer, so you could smush your face against his chest and wrap your arms around his body, snaking your hands under his jacket.
Before the rape, you were a very physical person. Always sitting on someone's lap, hugging people left and right, holding hands with your friends, and laying your head on their thighs... And that need to touch, to be held was still there. But it was overwhelmed by fear, even when it came to family and friends; that broken trust, unfortunately, traveled to them by proximity, but Aaron was an exception...
He was the one whom you called right after, who stayed on the line even when you couldn't say a single word, who asked his co-worker to trace your phone, who got to you in record time, and who kicked the door to the room you were locked in, fully prepared to kill anyone who dared to stand in between the two of you.
He saved you...
He put his jacket over your shoulders and pulled you so close, that you couldn't focus on anything else but him. He was the one who reported the incident, he was the one who held your hand while you were answering questions to the police and who punched the campus cop who dared to suggest that you wanted it. He was the one who rode in the ambulance with you, and he almost bit the nurse’s head off when she suggested that you might want to be alone for the rape kit. You didn't... And your fingernails digging into his writs were saying such. You needed someone familiar in the room because, without him, your mind would break beyond repair. So, when the young policewoman took pictures of your naked, abused body, and the flash blinded you for a split second so you couldn't see Aaron’s warm, chocolate eyes, you instantly went to the floor, but somehow, he managed to catch you before you fell over completely.
And when he tried to pass you to your mother when she finally arrived at the hospital, you clung to him for dear life, and you didn't let go until you passed out from exhaustion hours later. Your parents didn't ask any questions, explaining your behavior to themselves with the fact that it was because Aaron was almost always in your life, and he could actually do something to protect you because of his job... That's why you felt safe with him, and not with them. It hurt them, but in the end, they were glad you had at least someone around whom you could lower your guard, and that it was someone as trustworthy as your father's best friend.
Even now, almost three months after the rape, he was still the only person who could freely touch you, hug you, run his hands over your back, and you welcomed it with such desperation, that it almost scared you. You needed touch, his touch, to ground you in reality, and you hated being so dependent on him, even though your body and mind were already his.
- It's ok... - he whispered against your temple and placed a soft kiss there. - Do you want to go to bed? - he asked and when you nodded, he lifted you from the counter and carried you upstairs to your room. He gently put you on the permanently unmade bed, but you didn't let go of him. - I want to change into something more comfortable, Darling... I'm gonna go get my bag and I will be right back. - he said, but you still didn’t move.
- Please don't go... I have your t-shirt under the pillow, that should be enough... - you said quietly in an almost broken voice, and he just sighed.
- Sure, why the hell not... - he caved in and quickly undressed, folded his clothes, placed them on your dresser, and put on the shirt you must have stolen from him some time ago because he didn’t remember giving you this specific one.
He got in the bed behind you and pulled you even closer, so you were able to soak in the touch you so desperately needed. He buried his face in your neck, smushing his nose against your skin. One of his arms snaked in between your forearm and your torso, and his big hand rested on your abdomen, covering it almost completely; his other arm found its way under your head, and when you rested it on his bicep, he bent it in the elbow, so he could run his fingers over you fresh buzzcut. He intertwined his bare legs with yours, and when you pulled them closer to your chest - he followed, not breaking contact even for a second.
It was so easy to fall asleep with him completely wrapped around your body, but you still resisted it a little, wanting to soak in his closeness.
When you woke up in the middle of the night, something felt... wrong. You knew what all too well, but with Aaron so close, doing anything about it would be too risky. You could omit some facts, and not tell him everything, but if he asked specifically - you would be a goner. What you could do, was go take a shower and try to scrub that sensation off your skin, even though experience told you that it would be pointless. But damn if you weren't willing to try...
So you slithered out of Aaron’s embrace, trying your best not to wake him up, but he still did...
- Y/n...? Everything ok...? - he asked, his mind still fogged by Morpheus's sand.
- Everything's fine... I'm just gonna take a shower... - you whispered and forced the corners of your lips to move up, but that only made him realize that not everything was fine, and that alone immediately jolted him awake.
- I'm going with you... - he simply stated, and the look on your face must have been more revealing than you thought it was because he didn't see fear... You weren't afraid that he would do something, you were embarrassed. And when you realized that he knew more, the muscles in your thighs tensed involuntarily. Anyone else would have missed it, but not him. Not when his subconsciousness was trained to analyze and profile anything and anyone around him.
He shifted his head to the side as if he wanted to say, "Oh no, you did not...", and you instantly crossed your arms on your chest, bit your lip, and looked up, trying to stop the tears that were dangerously close from entering your eyes. Your body was telling the story you wanted to keep hidden, but when Aaron got closer to you and kneeled in front of you, you couldn't keep even the crumbs of composure that you had left. You didn't protest when he pulled on the string of your sweatpants, but when he hooked his thumbs around the waistband, you were no longer able to hold back tears.
He pulled the pants down, and when he saw the state of your thighs, his jaw clenched. He didn't make any comments, but for once his face was saying more than any words ever could. He was angry, but not at you... At himself. Because he didn't see it earlier. He was so absorbed by your wrists because that's what you were familiar with, that he didn't even think about other ways. He rested his forehead on your abdomen, put his hands on your waist, and pulled you closer. You could tell that he was trying to compose himself, trying to hold back the tears, to fight this wretched feeling of helplessness...
He eventually sat on his heels and started tracing every line you've made over the last two months with gentle kisses... Some of them were already long healed, but few were fresh, still scabbed even, but none of the cuts was deep enough to cause any serious damage; you had enough experience to avoid that. And for you, it was never about hating or killing yourself... It was about regaining control over your body and how it reacted, just to feel like yourself again, but you weren't sure which was worse.
- You were supposed to call me... - he whispered against your skin, still hiding his face from you. - Day or night, doesn't matter... I would have answered, I would have... - he choked on his words and wrapped his arms around your thighs. He couldn't say that he would have come, that he could have helped you, calm you down, because logically he knew he could have been on a case on the other side of the country...
- There is nothing you could have done... - you whispered, gently running your fingers through his hair. - Because it's not about you... It's about me. - he looked up at you and you could see wetness around his eyes glistening in the faint light of the moon. - The pain... It's freeing. It puts me back in my body because I'm the one doing things to it. I'm the cause of it, I'm the one making myself bleed, I'm the one in control... - you explained and ran your fingers through his hair again. You could see him processing the new information, but it didn't help with the helplessness of not being able to help you.
- Show me. - it wasn't a request. You needed a moment to register what he just said, but after a moment of silence and a few too-quick blink, you eventually moved to your desk where you kept your special box. You wanted to say no, to plead with him, but... That feeling that initially woke you up was still there, bubbling under your skin, and it was stronger than shame.
You sat on your bed and opened the box. Because it was never about serious harm, you were always prepared and as safe as possible. You pulled out a thin disposable surgical towel and put it on your sheet. Then you disinfected your hands, and the steel hand of a scalpel and put in on the towel, while Aaron watched diligently what you were doing. He half expected you to pull out a razor from your wallet, so to say he was surprised would have been an understatement, but he didn't make any comments. You also got a fresh gauze and drenched it in disinfectant, only to run it over the skin on your right thigh. Next, you took out a fresh blade and attached it to the metal handle, and you could finally get started.
You gently pressed the sharp blade to the previously unmarked patch of skin and without hesitation, you cut yourself. You knew at what angle this specific blade had to be, how much pressure to put, and how quickly to move the scalpel for the cut to be just the right depth to heal by itself and not need stitches. And as soon as the blade pierced your skin, you exhaled loudly and a massive amount of pressure left your body like a weight lifted from your shoulders, and the relief of it made you close your eyes and tilt your head back; the feeling was almost biblical...
When you opened your eyes again, you saw Aaron's eyes drilling into you, but by now, you were used to him reading you, so you just looked down again and chose another patch of skin, far away from the first cut, because you knew that they would heal quicker if they were further apart. You made another cut and once again, the almost orgasmic relief took over your body, forcing a very quiet whine from between your lips...
You wanted to make another cut, but Aaron wrapped his fingers around your wrist and straightened his leg, so it was parallel to yours.
- Do me. - another non-request
- Aaron, no... You don't need it. And it will actually hurt you... - this time you had to plead because it would be pointless for either of you.
- Nothing could hurt me more than seeing you hurt yourself... Now, I can either do it myself and fuck it up, because I don't know what I'm doing, or you can do it for me. It's your choice. - you froze. You honestly didn't know what was worse - actually inflicting pain on the most important person in your life, or watching him potentially injuring himself...
- I'll do it. - you eventually whispered. You still needed a moment to allow your brain to catch up to your words, but you ended up moving the surgical towel so it was closer to his thigh so you could see better what you would be doing.
- The exact same places as you did on your leg. - your eyes shot back to his, but he was serious, and you started to worry. There were more safe areas, especially the one closer to the inside of the thigh, but it wasn't a request. He wanted to show you something and make sure you understood it.
- Flex your muscles... - you requested and as soon as he did, you gently run your fingers over the areas you just cut on your own leg. You determined the exact placement of his veins and an artery. You of course didn't plan on going anywhere below fascia, but you still wanted to be as cautious as possible. - Relax... - he did as you told, and you gently pinched his skin, roughly determining how thick it was in those places, and how deeply you could go without any risks. By now you knew his body well, but not on that level; this was completely new for both of you.
You detached the blade you used to cut yourself from the handle and dropped it into a small metal tin with all the other ones. And then you repeated the preparation process, disinfecting everything that needed to be disinfected and attaching a fresh blade to the scalpel. For a short moment, you were toying with the idea of asking him to shave his thigh, because the healing process could be worse for him if he didn’t, but you got the feeling that it wasn't something he would say yes to right now.
Before you put the blade to his skin, you looked him in the eyes again, hoping that he would stop you, but there was nothing but determination there. So, you looked back down, with your finger traced the path you were about to follow with the scalpel, and made a quick cut. It was long, but a bit shallower than yours, because you weren't used to cutting thicker skin.
He stayed still, not even flinching at the pain he must have felt but seeing the droplets of fresh blood gathering on the edges of the cut ripped something from your chest and crushed it right in front of you. You wanted to apologize, to beg for forgiveness, but his stern look told you it wouldn't be wise.
- Again. - he said quietly, his voice much softer than you expected it to be in a moment like this. And you did... You moved your hand closer to his inner thigh and made another swift cut, this time curving it a little, following the shape of the muscle.
You didn't even realize that you started crying; only when you saw your tear falling down dangerously close to the fresh cut, you moved your head away. You quickly wiped the rest of the tears with the back of your left hand, taking a fresh gauze in your right and drying the drop before it had the chance to contaminate the cut.
- Do you understand now...? - he asked quietly, and you nodded, trying to hold back tears. - Good. Because every time I will find a fresh one on your body, you will be recreating it on mine. And from now on I will be checking regularly. Are we clear...? - you nodded again, trying your best to calm yourself down. He hated making you cry, but he also knew you well enough to realize that it was the fastest and most efficient way to stop you from harming yourself. You needed to realize what it was like to be on the other end of it, no matter how good and cathartic it felt in the moment. He also knew that now, every time you would even think about self-harming, the image of two fresh cuts on his thigh would immediately pop up in your head.
Still with tears in your eyes and without saying a word you cleaned all four cuts you made, and you even gently wrapped them with a fresh bandage, which wasn't something you usually did, but you didn't want any risks tonight... When you were done with the wounds, you put everything away in the box, and the box back in the desk And even though the possibility of you taking it out again was next to none, the knowledge that it was there, just in case, was still comforting.
And then you were back in bed, under the covers, basking in Aaron's body heat.
- I'm sorry I forced you to do this... - he whispered, when you grabbed the material of his shirt with both hands, and he wrapped himself around you, allowing you to hide in the cocoon made from him. - I don't regret it, and I would have done it again, but I am truly sorry that I forced you to experience that feeling. - he could never lie to you... Not even about something like this.
You were quietly sobbing into his chest. Was it healthy? No. Would a therapist hearing about this situation told you to run far away from him? Definitely. But did it work...? In its own twisted way, it did.
- I love you, Aaron... - you said quietly, clenching your fists even more. He run one of his hands over your buzzcut and you leaned into the touch almost like a cat.
- I love you too... - he pulled you closer and let you cry into the material of his shirt until you fell asleep in his arms... But he didn't join you, he couldn't. The guilt and anger he felt were so overwhelming that he didn't know what to do with them. And even though you were safe in his arms right now, the knowledge that the monsters who did this to you were still alive was eating him from the inside. Sure, they were in prison, he made sure of that, but he was seriously considering abusing his power and influence to make them meet their maker. The worst thing was it wasn't the first time he thought about it... He had come up with four possible ways to kill them, and all of them left his hands squeaky clean, that's why it was so tempting.
But if he ever did the things, he thought about doing, he would no longer be a good man.
And you deserved a good man.

Warnings ~ Swearing and Self love
After a long day you are finally home and decide to have some ‘alone’ time. What you don’t realise is you may not be truly alone
School was a a shitty hell of a long day today. A surprise pop quiz in English which you failed. You forgot your lunch so didn’t eat. You stood in some chewing gum that was impossible to get off. And you missed the bus so had to walk home. You just happy it was Friday. All you wanted was food and to be honest masterbate. You’d been horny as hell through out the day. As you get through the door you shout for your mum but no answer. You put your bag down and take off your shoes, making you let way over to the kitchen. Grabbing a can of coke from the fridge you notice a note on it. ‘Hi honey, won’t be back till tomorrow. Work conference. Money for pizza on the side. Love you, mum x’ you read. ‘Thanks mum’ you say happily scrunching the note up and putting it in the bin. You were starving. You order a pizza and sit down on the sofa waiting for it, flicking through the channels to see if there’s anything good on. The doorbell rings and the pizza is here. Yay. It didn’t take long, you pass the guy the money and happily take it. ‘Thank you’ you say closing and locking the door. You sit back on the sofa and tuck into your pizza, it tastes amazing. You finished your pizza about a hour ago and decide to go upstairs and take a shower. The hot water feels nice and relaxing on your skin. Shower all done with you come back into your room just in a towel. ‘Y/N, you there?’ You hear your walkie going with your best friend on the other side. You sit on your bed and answer. ‘Hey Ed’s, hellfire finished early?’ ‘Well it wasn’t suppose to but Dustin ended up throwing up so we rescheduled. Was wondering if you wanted to hang out?’ Eddie replies back. Any other day you’d love to but you need to sort out the problem in between your legs. ‘I’d love to Ed’s but I’m gonna go to bed. I’m so tired’ you say with a fake yawn, you do feel bad but if you don’t sort yourself out you feel like you’d burst. ‘Oh okay, see you tomorrow though?’ Eddie replies a little sadness to his voice that you don’t miss. ‘Course, see you tomorrow!’ You say putting the walkie talkie stood up on the bed side table. ‘Finally. Me time.’ You say taking off your towel and pull back the bed covers. You don’t realise you’ve knocked the walkie back down so now it’s on the side. You also don’t realise by doing this the button is pressed on.
You’re already wet without even touching yourself, it’s been a long day. All you’ve wanted is for this moment, to finally get some relief. You woke up so horny from a dream. A dream you wished was real. A dream about a certain someone. That certain someone being your best friend. Eddie. You’ve been harbouring a crush on him for the last year. He of course doesn’t know this, he’d never look twice at you. He was gorgeous. Those chocolate button eyes, plump soft lips, chiseled jawline, the hair you desperately wanted to pull at, just everything about him you adored. You spread your legs open thinking back to the dream. Eddies face between your legs devouring your pussy. His tongue worked fast and quick, licking up all your wetness. Your hand comes down to touch your aching pussy, you can be as loud as you want. No one can hear. Or can they?
Eddie puts his walkie down on his bed and sighs at the ceiling. He doesn’t do well being bored and everyone is busy it seems. He hears his walkie go off again but not talking. It sounds like something shuffling. ‘Y/N I’ve told you when you’re done to turn it off’ Eddie says to himself reaching for his walkie. Just as he’s about to press the button and talk he hears something else. Not speaking no. No shuffling anymore. But. No it can’t be, can it? It most definitely is. He can’t quite believe it, he feels like his eyes are going to pop out from how hard he’s staring at his walkie. It’s quite clear what you are doing. He knows it’s wrong and he should turn his walkie off but he can’t help himself. He can hear you moaning as your fingers move around your pussy. He wishes he could see you too. (What you didn’t know is Eddie feels the exact same way as you)
Your fingers circle your clit causing you to moan. It feels so good. Your other hand starts playing with your nipple, everywhere feeling so sensitive. You think back to your dream again. This time with Eddies cock buried deep in you. Pulling it out and slamming it all the way back in. Moving faster on your clit your other hand moves down, inserting two fingers into your aching hole. You wish it was Eddies. You begin to move your fingers in and out if your sopping wet pussy, your moans and wetness filling the room with noise.
Eddie is still just staring at his walkie as he hears your sinful moans. He can even hear how wet you are, he’s jealous and wishes he could feel you. His cock is rock solid in his jeans. He needs to relieve himself. Taking off his belt and undoing the button and zip off his jeans he pulls them down with his boxers. His cock finally free. As your moaning gets loudly he wraps his hand around his cock and begins to move it up and down. Spitting on his cock he mixes it with his pre cum and imagines it’s your pussy he’s fucking. His hand gaining more speed as you pick up your speed fucking yourself silly. ‘Eddie!’ You moan as you feel the coil about to snap. ‘Eddie yes! F-fuck!’ Eddie can’t believe what he’s hearing. You’re screaming his name, he wanted to cum on the spot instantly but at the same time didn’t want this to end. As you scream his name one more time you finally give in and cum. This sends Eddie over the edge and his thick ropes of cum go all over his hand and top.
Both breathing heavily catching your breathes, you still clueless about what he’s heard. You slowly pull out your fingers and sit up. ‘Best. Orgasm. Ever’ you say to yourself proudly. You shuffle off your bed and go clean yourself up. Eddie sits on his bed trying to catch his breath still. ‘Best orgasm ever Y/N? Well we shall have to see about that’

I know you’re a huge Nate supporter and love to talk about all the microagressions against him, and one I noticed when rewatching is that in 2x3, when ted tells Jamie he’s starting on the reserve, he’s immediately playful with Will (“Mr. Kitman! Hit me!”) and it got me thinking how badly Nate must have felt seeing the ringleader of his bullies come back and immediately be nice to his replacement. Sort of like, “oh so you were capable of being a decent human being to the kitman this whole time but you just chose not to”
I think there’s such nuance in the way the the team getting nicer grates on Nate, who put up with their bullshit for years, especially since no one ever offers him a real apology. I think he’s definitely crossed lines, but when you look at it from his perspective, it’s easy to see how he got there. Anyway I just appreciate your nuanced takes on Nate and I can’t wait to see nick mohammed pull off another stellar performance in season 3!
Absolutely!
To be fair, I think Nate's aggression from Will stems a lot from power going to his head and being a perfectionist in his work; I'm a big fan of Nate but my God, the man is flawed. However I also think Will is a walking, talking reminder of how the team used to treat Nate, simply by dint of how they don't treat Will. He comes to Richmond and immediately gets handfuls of cash from them at Christmas, he's included in their little bonding rituals, he's part of the gang...whereas we all know the treatment Nate got whenever he tried to help the team.
(And that only finished after a particularly brutal show of strength from Roy. Which, uh, certainly gives Nate an interesting impression of what tactics do and don't work with the footballers.)
So yeah, from Nate's incredibly damaged perspective, having poor Will around must be unbelievably frustrating. He's pissed, and though he handles it badly, it's obvious why he's pissed. It's the moment when Eleanor in The Good Place, seeing her emotionally abusive mum parenting a new daughter, tearfully says that if her mum was capable of parenting the little girl then she was capable of parenting Eleanor but just chose not too. It's the moment in How I Met Your Mother when Barney screams at his absent dad 'well, if you were going to be some lame suburban dad, why couldn't you be one for me?!' - because clearly the team were capable, they were willing to be nice, they just didn't want to be nice to Nate, it must be about him, how they see him, he needs to change to earn their respect, he needs to perform those shows of strength....
...Of course, an outside perspective would tell you that the team's change of attitude from Nate to Will has absolutely nothing to do with Nate, and everything to do with how Ted's philosophy has impacted the team. (If Will had joined Richmond at the beginning of S1 I've no doubt that pre-reformation Isaac, Colin and Jamie would have eaten the poor boy alive, and the rest of the team would have been egging them on or wouldn't have dared stop it.) But Nate's not in the right place to see that. And considering all the history between him and the team, I don't think he should have to just 'man up' and accept that; he deserves that acknowledgement and those apologies. Which I am very much hoping we get this season.
