You and Simon had spent the better part of the morning indulging in the decadent breakfast you had prepared as the sun rose over the horizon.
He pleaded for you to stay in bed and not fuss about making him breakfast. He’d get you those bagels you loved from the shop down the road and some fresh cream cheese from the dairy to slap on top.
You leaned closer, placing a smack of a kiss on his cheek. “You deserve it, hon,” you smiled, slipping on your cozy slippers and one of Simon’s hoodies, happily making your way into the kitchen. He couldn’t help but sink into the mattress. How did he manage to find you? A divine blessing you were.
You thought you overdid it with all the food you made. Crepes, waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, all to be washed down with some fresh-pressed juice from your orange trees—far too much for just the two of you. But Simon would be damned if he left even one piece of the crispy bacon uneaten.
“Good?” you asked with a smile, fiddling with a waffle on your plate as you watched Simon demolish his food.
“Damn good, baby. Got me such a pretty chef,” he muttered, biting some egg. You flashed him a smile, tipping your head towards him as you reached for the syrup, filling every hole on your waffle.
A comfortable silence fell over both of you. The occasional ‘clank’ of silverware and the soft hum of the heater kicking on were the only noises to be heard. The doorbell sharply rang, echoing off the walls of the hallway and bleeding into the kitchen.
You sat your fork down, easing your way up before Simon shooed you back down and placed your fork back in your hand. “Eat,” he mutters as he walks to the front door.
Simon swings open the front door to be met by the postman, who is staggering with excitement as he hands Simon a loose envelope. The postman tips his head slightly, viewing you inside, standing, and placing more bacon on Simon’s plate. Simon’s hoodie hit just below the curve of your ass, and as you moved, it shifted a little higher, giving him a view of your panties.
“I suggest you stop making looks at my wife, or I’ll do more than just kill that pretty pension check,” Simon says, ripping the envelope from the postman’s hand. The guy's eyes flick to Simon’s in record time, full of worry.
“I don’t know what—” he starts, his tone defensive.
“You think I’m an idiot?“ Simon stoically says, crossing his big arms over his chest. “Huh?”
“No—I, I,” The post guy stutters.
Simon raises a brow. “Can’t speak now?” The post guy says something incoherent, and Simon breathes impatiently.
“Use your fuckin’ words,” Simon hurriedly says.
“I—I you know what, I, I, I’m gonna go,” the post guy stammers, almost falling over the porch's front steps, flalling to his mail truck, but not before shouting, “The next shipping is on me.” You bet your ass it is.
Simon clenches his teeth as he closes the door, turning to see you standing behind him. “Baby, I think you scared him,” you laugh out. Simon reaches out, grasping your hand and pulling you closer. You yelp as Simon pulls you flush with his body, placing a kiss on the top of your head.
“Fuckin’ animal, that one,” he mutters into your hair.
Simon never really believed in coincidences. His brain was too methodical—calculated. It was something you learned from your long history together.
So, it was odd to hear him say to the police that it must have been a coincidence that the same day he gets into a scrabble with the postman, he goes missing and is then found dead in a lake with bruises covering his body.
It was definitely a coincidence.
a/n: your honor my client didn't commit that crime! just trust me!

01 . . . william v.s. darius
— this translation may not be 100% accurate or contain creative liberties due to characterization or narrative flow purposes. if you enjoy, please consider reblogging, but don’t repost these or claim these as your own!
— cw: none.
Today was what one would call a comfortable, ideal day.
Kate: Thank you for inviting me here, Will.
K: It really has been a while since we last visited the city. I’m really looking forward to it.
William: As am I. Besides——
W: The possibility of encountering something unexpected is another thing I do look forward to, perhaps.
The glance he gave me made my heart flutter...
Kate: I would assume there’s some reason why we’re going out to the street fair going on today, right?
...and I returned his look with a searching one of my own, seeing those lips forming a perfect arc.
William: It is a reward for a very clever and discerning little robin——
W: Ahh, before that, though, let us extend our greetings to our guest here.
When I followed his gaze, there I saw Darius, who was walking toward us with a bright, innocent smile playing on his lips.
Darius: Hello there, Sir Rex. I’ve been eagerly awaiting an opportunity to be able to chat with you.
D: Ahh, and to the little miss fairytale keeper as well. Hello there.
Kate: Hi, Darius. Were you taking a stroll?
Darius: It’s such a good day out, it would be a shame if I stayed holed up in the castle, you see.
William: So, it would appear the castle is slightly too cramped for your tastes.
Darius: Whoops, you got me.
D: The higher-ups here in the castle are so stiff and formal, I could hardly take it. In fact, it was getting a bit hard to breathe, so I came here to escape, you see.
Kate: I see, then——
I was about to invite Darius as well, when I suddenly realized something.
(That’s right, Will was about to say something a couple minutes ago too. If this outing has anything to do with a mission...)
I probably shouldn’t be the one to decide that, so I turned toward Will, only to find him staring at me with an amused expression.
William: It is as you wish, Kate.
Kate: Thank you.
(As always, he seems to know exactly what I’m thinking.)
Darius: What’s this now? Will you let me join your merry group?
Kate: Darius, how about you join us in going to a street fair?
K: Since you have come a long way to England, it would make me happy if you ended up enjoying London.
Darius: Well that sounds very interesting. Perhaps I’ll take you up on your offer.
A smile blossomed on Darius’ face in an instant, and the sight made Will narrow his eyes in response.
William: Alright then, let us share a carriage then to the fair, the three of us. [1]
—— In a carriage ——
William: So the other day, we took down a crime syndicate that committed a great many thefts,
W: and that organization would have impoverished children steal in exchange for a generous reward.
W: We have taken the children who have been used by them under custody and are supporting them now, but that is not to say we were able to completely wipe all the traces out.
Darius: ——I imagine many of those children would stain their hands with crime once again in order to survive.
D: And what better place to do so than a street fair, which is teeming with people?
D: That’s why you are going to patrol around, and should you find any child who may have relations to that organization, you will take them into custody...
D: I wonder, did my guess hit the mark, Sir Rex?
William: Straight in the mark. I would expect no less from you, director.
Darius: I’m deeply honored by your kind words.
D: Even so, though, going out to find the children who had been targeted...
D: It’s a little reminiscent to Versteckspiel.
William: Indeed, it’s fine to see this as a game of hide and seek.
W: After all, since you are staying in England for a period of time, I would like for the director of Vogel to have fun in this fair.
Kate: The fairs here in England are really fun, so I myself enjoy them too. Ah, look, we’re almost there.
When we got off the carriage in front of the fair venue, Darius’ eyes lit up at the scene before him.
Darius: Wow, it’s so lively here. Ah, what are those wavy things?
Kate: Those are garlands the people have decorated the city with. They’re all handmade, so they come in many different shapes.
Darius: Ohh, then are those flags also garlands? They have such an interesting shape. And there are so many shops I don’t know where to even start.
D: They’re a tad different from the festivals over in Germany, but the excitement never changes for any festival.
Darius’ eyes wandered around everywhere with interest, and his frolicking had a very innocent air.
(I’m glad he’s having fun. Just seeing him makes me happy as well.)
William: It seems like he is having a good time.
Kate: Right? I’m glad I invited him. Ah, look, there’s a pie wagon coming!
William: Would you care for some berry pie, director?
Will and I went to buy enough pies for three people, offering one to Darius.
However, once he took the pie, he only stared down at it, not bothering to eat any of it.
William: Oh? It is considered bad manners to eat while you stand. Or perhaps…
Without putting on any airs, Will grabbed his own portion and took a bite.
At the sight of him chewing and swallowing, seeming to enjoy the taste, Darius widened his eyes.
William: If you were worried that poison had been mixed in, let this be proof that it is a groundless worry.
Will wiped the berry sauce on the corner of his lips with his thumb, smiling as he met Darius’ gaze.
Darius: Ahaha, to think you would fulfill the role of a poison taster of your own volition… it’s almost wasted on you.
D: But, that is also groundless on your part.
D: I am actually quite good, you see, at eating with bad manners.
The next moment, he took a large bite out of the pie, stuffing his cheeks.
Kate: Oh, you’ve got cream all over your mouth.
Darius: Hmm? It’s fiiine. Here, why don’t you have some, too, miss fairytale keeper? It’s scrumptious.
Darius paid zero mind to the fact that cream was on his face,
and seeing him munching so happily——
I remembered how he had mentioned that the castle felt a bit cramped.
(So right now, I would like it if he can spread his wings out as far as he can.)
Seeing the two before me so casually eat away, naturally my cheeks started to relax.
With a liberating feeling, I also took a large bite out of my pie.
Kate: Mm! It’s really good!
(Ah, come to think of it…)
Kate: Darius, you mentioned that you like foods that are either hard to make or hard to obtain, right?
Darius: Huh?
Kate: Those types of things don’t seem to be around here, so I will try to find some again next time!
Darius: Oh wow, so you remember the things that others have said very well.
William: Our little robin here is one to take actions for others; it is one of her virtues.
W: This pie as well, I see you have chosen my favorite flavor.
Kate: Yes, as I don’t make a mistake when it comes to whatever you say tastes good.
Darius: Ah, you like strawberries, don’t you, Sir Rex?
William: Oh? How did you know?
Darius: Is it not natural to do some research on the people you want to get along with?
William: Ahaha, your ardent words are loving music to my ears, director.
W: Actually, I am in the midst of unraveling the mystery that is you.
Darius: Oh? You are?
William: Indeed, I have come to learn a variety of things about you in this short time we’ve spent together.
W: Such as how you so heartily eat pie, among other things.
Darius: Ahaha, you aren’t wrong about that.
William: If the little robin hadn’t invited the director on this outing, such would remain a mystery. So thank you, Kate.
Kate: If you would like to give thanks, it is better suited for the ‘coincidence’ of meeting Darius right before we left.
K: Besides, I feel the same. I would like to get to know you more, Darius.
When I turned toward Darius, his entire face was smiling.
Darius: So you would like to get along more with me, miss fairytale keeper. I’m delighted to hear.
D: Let’s play together and get along much, much more, okay? And Sir Rex as well.
William: You can call me William.
Darius: Then you can just call me Darius. And miss fairytale keeper, that goes for you too?
Kate: Huh, is it really alright for me to call you Darius as well?
Darius: Why, of course. There’s no need to get so caught up in formalities if we’re going to get along with each other, right? So call me Darius, okay?
Kate: Okay then, Darius. I’ll do that from now on!
Then, William extended a hand to Darius.
William: We welcome you to England.
Smiling, Darius exchanged a handshake with Will.
Darius: Thank you. I hope next time you’ll find a time to come visit us in Germany.
D: Of course, that goes for both Crown… and the little miss fairytale keeper.
—— Scene change ——
While enjoying the lively festivities in contrast to the everyday, we could hear a notably loud shout of joy.
Darius: Hm? What are they all doing over there?
With our interests piqued, we headed toward the area where people were gathered, and——
Kate: Oh, they’re throwing horse shoes.
Darius: Ohh, it looks so fun. Now I want to try it.
William: Well then, I may participate as well.
Darius: Ah, then how about we have a match?
William: I don’t mind. I do imagine having a reward for the winner would make this match even more interesting as well, but…
Darius: Then how does miss fairytale keeper here sound for a reward?
to be continued…

NOTES:
[1] Will says [ひとつ共有しておこう] (hitotsu kyouyū shite okō), which means “sharing one”... thing... in order to like stay as a three man group at the fair. I just assumed he meant a carriage, as the next scene takes place in a carriage, but I may be wrong here.

How a Modern Perspective Skews Historical Characters: A Mini Rant on the Hatred of Female Characters in RDR2
This isn't that organized cuz it's more a rant than a retrospective but fuck it it's my blog, I do what I want-
There are so many people who have actual hatred, not criticisms, for Abigail, Molly, Grimshaw, Mary, and other female characters in the Red Dead universe.
And honestly? I find it very interesting. Sure, men will probably always find a reason to hate a female character, but what I find interesting is how many women also hate these wonderfully crafted characters.
It could be so many reasons as to why this may be the case but honestly? I think it's because people forget that they CANNOT analyze this game authentically through the modern lens of morals and behaviors. This game takes place in 1899 America. Let me say it again. This game takes place in 1899 America.
One more time, just for good measure- this game takes place in FUCKING 1899 America. Women had to be dependent on men because otherwise? They'll either be in poverty, exploited, killed, or all three. There was also the honor system. When had to be the moral high ground for their family so them messing up has consequences on their fathers, mothers, siblings, cousins, and anyone connected to their family name.
Abigail getting pissy at John for getting in trouble all the time? If course it'd feel annoying if you're looking at it through the modern perspective but when you don't, it's a woman telling her man to act like a man and be careful because if he doesn't, she and her son will be destitute and destroyed.
Mary not getting with Arthur but using him? What's the likely hood that the law would bother to help Mary when the two people she needs help with are her father and brother- two grown men who can make their own choices that she literally can do nothing about because as a woman, it wasn't her place to dictate what they do. Arthur was her only option. "Girl, what her family thinks doesn't matter, she still should've gotten with him" girl no, because it's much harder and difficult than that- it's like tearing away an entire identity that you depend on to fucking survive.
"but what about Sadie? She was also living during this time period and she isn't drowned by societal expectations-"
Seriously. Do some research, read a book, expand your knowledge of gender roles and what that entails for people because it explains so many things about these characters in such a human way. They aren't "bitches", they are women of their time and people have to understand that.
No. Sadie isn't a part of this discussion because though she is a fun character and an amazing character, she is a mishmash of historical women who did masculine things to survive at one point but then went back to traditional roles, even if they did occasionally go back to to those old activities for sport sometimes, like Anne Oakley or Calamity Jane. Sadie's entire character is basically "but what if they didn't and committed to the nontraditional lifestyle". There are many inconsistencies that Rockstar did regarding the time period that they established earlier to accommodate Sadie's character better. Sadie is a great character but she doesn't belong in this discussion.
Edit: Ok, since this was a rant, as mentioned previously, I was a bit too rushed with the Sadie aspect of this post and ignored some crucial details. I'm not gonna change the post besides just this though. @hillbillyhipster84 made some great points that Sadie was a reference to Appalachian women and real outlaw women who did run and were accomplices in men's crimes, that I was too ignorant to mention prior beforehand because I didn't do much research. I still don't believe that People should use Sadie to bash the other women though, because those women mentioned above were not the status quo and thus were more trivialized because of it.
So many cultures still operate like this too so if anything, you're just learning something new about another culture.
But I swear, anytime someone talks shit about these characters, y'all got me looking like this-
#rdr2#red dead redemption 2#abigail marston#mary linton#susan grimshaw#molly o'shea#arthur morgan#rant post#historical#guys should i do a full post analyzing all the girlies from a historical period to better understand their character?

Snippet Monday
❤️Thank you very much for tagging me @ghost-of-a-dream-girl, @busy-baker and @xxnashiraxx! ❤️
This is something I've started working on for the 300 followers celebration for @pursuitseternal - a Magistrate Astarion x Reader one-shot where Astarion was never turned! Such a brilliant idea, thank you so much!
So, basically this has all the events of BG3 but Astarion is an elf. And the one-shot takes place post-game. So far, I think I have a general idea of what I'm going to write, so hopefully this is something along the lines of what you would like it to be!
The afternoon sunlight brushed warmly against your cheek as you enjoyed a rare moment of peace. Instead of running around Baldur's Gate, fixing buildings, helping those in need, the Hero of the Gate for once decided to read a newspaper in a park. Something quite mundane for some, a rare luxury for you.
You were not slacking. But you have come to realise that in your bid to please everyone you would soon completely burn out. Which is why you didn’t feel a smidge of guilt when you found yourself going to Bloomridge park instead of the Upper City.
Not having to make any decisions and just simply be for an hour felt absolutely heavenly. Children played, the members of the book club gossiped, and couples whispered among themselves. This was exactly what you loved about this city. No matter how much havoc was wrought, Baldur's Gate healed rapidly and would soon be back to its former glory.
You cast your eyes over the articles in the newspaper. Nothing special, thank the gods. Just silly gossip and the like. You quickly looked through it and gave a happy sigh. No news was always good news in your books!
Yet, no matter how pleasant this little break was, you were well aware that your assistance was needed at ten odd locations today. It was time to get back to work.
Getting up, you looked at the newspaper in your hands and decided that perhaps someone would enjoy reading it. Afterall, there was hardly any reason for you to take the paper with you. And leaving it behind would probably save some poor student a copper. Thus assured that you were doing no harm, you folded the newspaper up neatly and set it down on the park bench for another to enjoy.
Just as you were about to walk away, you heard someone clear their throat loudly.
"What do you think you are doing?"
It was one of the Fists. You didn't recognise him. Perhaps it was a new recruit, seeing as otherwise he would have known who you were.
"Excuse me?"
"You are littering," he stated, pointing to the newspaper with an accusatory finger.
Ah, so a simple misunderstanding.
"I am not littering,” you smiled pleasantly, in spite of feeling that it was rather strange of the Fist to worry about something as inconsequential as litter out of all things. “Just thought someone else might enjoy reading the paper now that I'm done with it."
The Fist did not look impressed by your explanation. In fact, if anything he seemed even more set in his belief that a heinous crime was being committed in broad daylight.
"I am arresting you for littering in a public garden," he seemed to think about it for a moment. "And for arguing with a city guard."
"I've hardly said any-"
"Resisting arrest, are we?" he drawled, making your mouth tighten as you bit back a snarky retort.
"No, I will come with you willingly," you grumbled.
Perhaps if you played along for a bit, you could talk to someone of a higher rank. Saying anything to an overly eager guard who was obstinately sticking to his accusations would just attract onlookers.
"Good. The judge is waiting for your arrival."
"What? What do you mean judge?" you frowned. What business did any judge have looking into misdemeanours and especially something like littering?
"His Honor judge Ancunín is waiting for you. Don't dawdle. It's rude to keep him waiting."
Suddenly all of this made sense. You ground your teeth and followed the Fist. Of course it was Astarion! That ass!
"Oh, trust me. Him waiting for me will be the least of his worries once I see him."
He couldn’t just come by the tavern and talk to you like someone normal. No, he needed a show of power, especially with him being promoted to judge in high court! Because apparently this was how Astarion got his kicks nowadays. He needed for you to be near forcibly escorted to the courtroom and thrown at his feet. Preferably pleading for mercy and asking him if there was any way that you could make it up to him.
You scowled. The whole scenario just sounded like the plot of some cheap, third-rate smutty novel one would pick up at Sharess'. But if he thought that he you would cower before him, that elf had another thing coming!

A marriage of peace and political (3)
zuko x reader x male mai
The daughter that had been gone for many years had finally come home, arriving back at the nation of her birth. It had been so many years she had laid eyes on her people and they had laid eyes on her. She was no longer the young woman that had been married off for peace, she was a woman, wife, and mother, lady or fire nation and southern water tribe. She had become that is respect and trusted by all of the nation, she had master her skills in bending and ruling a nation as well.
Y/n " ......."
Sokka " there have been reports of former fir nation prisoners being released in numbers"
y/n " well yes it had been discussed those how didn't commit crimes that are very bad and make them a danger to the public, have been released and allowed to start over"
sokka " oh"
y/n " yes most of them have started brand new lives in earth kingdom"

y/n " they haven't it seems like they came to terms that their father had used them"
katara " that good"
hakoda " has he meet the boys"
y/n " yes he has under the watch of zuko, azula, and iroh they don't trust him and either do I"
noble man " so the evil fire lord got to see the grandchildren before her own father"
y/n " my dear sir will you like to say that louder"
noble man " oh no I didn't mean it like ..."
y/n " I know how you meant it dear sir"
sokka " sister sorry about that"
y/n " it okay"
squire " excuse me the kyohsi warriors have arrived"
hakoda " that kyohis warriors"
squire " yes chef they ar the guards of your daughter and grandchildren"

kyohsi warrior " where has been for the last couple years oh yes here"
suki " I and my warriors are honored to be here and if we need help we will ask"
sokka " well I think we can call the meeting of day one to an end"
hakoda " yes I hope to have discussions with the fire lords and other fire nation officials"
y/n " you will father I will make sure of it" you had looked at your father and bowed your head in respect to the room and they did the same as well. You soon left the room with the kyoshi warriors following you as well.
suki " we have thought you will need some support against them"
y/n " thank you it going to be a very long time here"
y/n " let go find the boys" you soon started walking down the steps towards the village center.
????? " hey y/n wait up" you had heard your name getting called your siblings and their friends soon showed up, they race to meet you on the finally step.
katara " we were wondering if we can come with you"
y/n " oh"
sokka " well we haven't been with you in so many years we missed so much in your life"
toph " yes snow princess and it seems like sugar queen and boomerang boy have been dying to get to know their nephews, a bit more"
aang " yes we will love to get to now them knowing that I might be their uncle in the future"
katara " yes aang speaks the truth"
suki " i don't thin that a good idea...."
y/n " it okay suki you all can come with us to find the boys" you soon stepped off the finally step along with everyone else, you were trying to see the boys.
kid " hey come on we have to go see this match"
kid 2 " I'm coming I'm coming"
kid 3 " this will be so cool"
sokka " hey what going on here"
kid 4 " there this battle going to take place between some of boys here and some boys that arrived here for the event" you right away knew the other boys are your sons.
katara " we should go see what this is all about"
y/n " I have a feeling" the group of adults made their way to see what was the matter, and soon saw your four boys across from some other kids.
sokka " what going on here"
teen " just a friendly match that all we have been doing it all day while the adults are talking"
sokka " oh my spirts"
hakoda " what with all the chaos here"
sokka " dad it seems like the kids have found a way to keep themselves entertained by some matches"
hakoda " you all wish to battle these boys form fire nation"
crowd " fire nation boys"
hakoda " yes these boys are from very high rank family"
teen 2 " so they are nobility"
Muko " well yes and no"
hakoda " are you boys sure about this match this is way different here as it being snow, you might not be used to the environment"
izo " well I think we will do well"
uze " it seems like a good match as we been watching the rest and study"
man " study my boys here are good benders from our family they can take on anyone"
hakoda " boys are you sure about this"
muko, izo, and uze " yes" the three boys looked at their mother brother who seem, not to care that much about this whole situation.
zoja " I don't care it will be fun to knock down egotistical people down a bit"
teen 3 " you think you are going to beat us"
zoja " maybe"
muko " maybe we enter the battle sir as this is your tribe" hakoda looked at you as you nodded your head.
hakoda " sure"
y/n " boys remember what you father, aunt, uncles, and mother have helped you learn"
the boys " yes lady y/n"
suki " this is going to be interesting" everyone had taken their seats and started watching the battle began.
teen " we will go easy on you four"
zoja " oh we will make sure to go easy on you not wishing to humiliate you all front of everyone watching"
teen " huh ... ahhh" the first teen had soon been pinned against a ice wall by some draggers. These draggers belong to uze who was now smiling at the boy.
izo " lets go" izo and muko soon went after two of the fire bending at them, making the boys lost thier balance and soon fall down a small hole.
zoja " now are you going to give up or do we have to fight"
teen 4 " I will never back down" zoji had tossed some draggers at the boy but he missed it, which was part of zoja plan as the man had ran at him soon hitting his legs soon sending the boy falling to the ground.
teen 4 " hey I can't move what did you do"
zoja " found your pressure points dont worry I will fix it" zoji had undone what he did, the boy could move his legs again but had soon been pinned down a dragger in his shirt sleeve.
muko " mother did we make your proud" everyone was looking at you as the boys looked at you.
y/n " good job"
katara " that was amazing they moved so fast like it was nothing"
sokka " wait so muko and izo can bend fire while uze and zoja are no bender but fight like Mao and ...."
suki " ty lee had taught all the boys here skills of taking down enemies"
katara " those were some water bending moves"
y/n " yes I taught them that"
aang " that amazing"
hakoda " that was amazing boys"
y/n " yes I proud of you all and it seems like iroh has helped you all learn some new moves as well"
zoja " yes and over some tea and wisdom" the boys soon help the other boys up and free from their traps.
muko " good match maybe in our rematch you can beat us"
teen " you have a deal and you taught us a good lesson thank you"
uze " your welcome"
suki "good jobs it seems like you are taking our lessons well"
the boys " aunt suki" the boys had ran to go greet thier aunt happy to see she was here.
sokka " wait so you knew of them this whole time"
suki ' yes as guard to the royal family I got to be there for your sister and them, when you were here helping the world"
uze " aunt suki had helped us learn some combat skills, wait so you are the guy she meet many years ago that was being rude and mad at women had beat him in combat"
sokka " oh you kids have bene told about that"
zoja " yes we have heard many things about you all from our mother and others"
katara " I hope they were all good things"
Muko " oh yes some good thing here and there"
y/n " come on children there is some place I wish to take you all" the kids had nodded their heads, and soon followed you outside form the village and towards some grave sites.
y/n " hello mother and gran gran I have come home it has been so long, since I was here but I haven't come alone I have brought my children as well .... I have a wonderful marriage and wonderful family as well" you had bowed your head toward the two graves and the kids had done the same as well.
katara " mom will be so proud of you sister she will be proud of us all"
y/n " yes she will be proud"
hakoda " yes she will be proud of our family and now we have four new members to add to the family" the boys had looked at each other and soon back at hakoda.
katara " dinner will be served later today will you and the children care to join us"
y/n " kids do you feel like having a family dinner"
muko " we will love that mom"
y/n " well then it agreed on we will love to come"
aang " good there will be meat options and vegetation as well, so there will be many cheese"
izo " thank you for telling us that avatar aang"
aang " you can call me aang boys" the boys had nodded their heads later on family dinner had been served, the boys seem to be having a good time.
katara " y/n are you really happy in your relationship with zuko and Mao, you did marry them after all that happened between the avatar team and them"
y/n " yes I'm happy with them katara and I was there as well during some of the moments of war, I have learned to forgive them and see them in good light"
katara " oh"
y/n " so when we will be expecting another but for you and aang this time around"
katara " we have been talking about marriage but the question hasn't been asked yet"
y/n " don't worry he will ask soon and I know your marriage will be good"
katara " thank you sister and when I get married I will love you and your family to be there as well, and maybe the boys will have cousins to play with in the future"
y/n " yes that will be wonderful"
katara " are you planning to have another kid or this four enough"
y/n " well yes I will love one more kid to added to my family and I have a feeling this time it will be water bender"
katara " that will be amazing to see my sister"
y/n " yes it will be" you had smiled while driving some tea and keeping up conversation with your sister and the others. It was easy to tell there was some unspoken tension between suki and sokka. The feast had come to end and everyone was heading back to their rooms they will be staying.
Hakoda " y/n I'm really happy you came home it has been to long, since you were here"
y/n " yes it has father"
sokka " maybe when you are here to we can see if you can talk you into staying here a bit longer"
Izo " staying here"
y/n " thank you brother but I will need to have that discussion with my husbands and the kids, before think about a matter of moving and them being the heirs of nation will not be easy"
sokka " yes we understand sister"
suki " we will be taking you back to where you are staying and it not far from us as well"
y/n " thank you good night everyone" you soon bowed your head toward your family and the rest of avatar team, as you had been escorted to where you will be staying with the kids. The boys had bene helped out of their clothes by the servants and soon went off to bed.
suki " what are you doing"
y/n " writing a letter to my husbands, my sister in law, and Iroh giving them an update of what happen today and hoping one of them will come a day sooner"
suki " that a good idea"
y/n " so you and sokka is that still a close scroll or no"
suki " i don't know things didn't end well between me and him, and I still haven't found a way to forgive him"
y/n " I understand suki but thank you for coming here"
suki " anything for my friend I will be retiring for the night but not far away, I also made a route for the guards to switch shifts tonight ... but we also have water tribe guards as well"
y/n " thank you suiki sleep well" suki soon left you had gotten done with the letters and rolled them up, as you walked towards the message hawk and place the rolled up letters into it hold.
y/n " be safe flying back home friend to the fire nation palace" the hawk soon took off into the air leaving the southern water tribe and the freezing north. You had soon got dressed for bed and laid in the bed, praying the rest of the time here will be good. There had been some news you had kept from everyone, that was meant to be shared later on but that might not go to plan after all. Right now your duty was to keep the peace for the two nation, and make sure you children stay safe as well. Just maybe you will be able to rebuild your relationship with your family and tribe, and everything will be god juts mayeb indeed.

Base Yandere Shang Li Headcanons: Protector (Mulan Animated)
[Hello, My Sexy Muffins! I am here with another chapter! This one is going to be yandere Shang li! So please enjoy this chapter and hope you are all enjoying the Lunar New Year!]
(Disclaimer: Shang Li is NOT Yandere in canon, this is just for fun and not to be taken seriously at all! Simping for fictional characters and yanderes is fine, just do not be gross or illegal about it! Yanderes are not ideal partners to have in real life. Also, remember to separate fiction from reality and headcanon from canon!)
-Base Yandere Headcanons With Shang Li (Mulan)-
.Shang Li is the Son of General Li.
.He is smart and capable.
.He is also very strong and has very good looks.
.He also might be bi or pan in canon (Which here is a bit of history in Ancient China men could have boyfriends along with their wives (Mainly in royal families) because in Ancient China being gay was not considered a Sin like it was in the West but these men still had to have wives because you ARE going to carry on your family name right? Which was expected at that time. So men being attracted to men was not treated the same as it was in the West at this time. There is even a story where a Chinese emperor was sleeping with his boyfriend and when he had to go leave for work instead of awakening his boyfriend he cut the sleeve of his clothes so he would not wake his boyfriend if he moved them) because he was very likely attracted to Mulan when she was dressed as a man and he thought she was one and as a woman.
.In this he has not mulan but he has met you and regardless of your physical form he loves you and is smitten with you.
.Just like the song that played when getting ready for the Matchmaker he is a man who would go to war for you to make sure that he can keep you safe
.He adores you for who you are and wants to keep you safe, he is a very protective yandere to the core. That he is willing to risk his life for yours.
.Though at first, he is very strict on rules and such so he does his best to follow them.
.Although over time he will break those rules if he has to, to be with you, that is for sure.
.He wants to also be able to prove himself to you, that he can be a good man and protect you and be worthy of you.
.He would defend your life and save face for you (Saving/save face is how you should say it, not save my honor or save you honor or restore my honor, western stuff is the one obsessed to us. Saving/Save face is how you would say it, fun fact!
.You are just not a partner to him, but the love of his life and he will stand by your side through it all.
.He is though a bit of a stick-in-the-mud kind of guy with certain things, and a bit more strict with those things.
.In other words, he would at first expect you to do as he says and not disgrace his face.
.He is holding you to a high standard.
.Of course, again he gets better. Learning you are his partner and respecting you as it.
.He is also a self-sacrificing yandere
.With that and the protective side of him he will do whatever it takes to save your life and keep you safe.
.It does not matter what he has to do to protect you he will do it.
.How does he deal with rivals? Most likely beats the poo out of them… But.
.His dark side as a yandere would have certain rivals framed for crimes they did not commit where they were executed or exiled.
.Also, if they are exiled he most likely will pay someone to kill them even after the fact (Another fun fact is a lot of framing court officials and having them killed when they are exiled happened a lot in ancient China a lot so this is very accurate lol).He would confess to you either before he goes off to war, so you could wait for him to return and then Marry him.
.Or After he comes home from war and he picks you up and kisses you.
.If you do accept his feelings he will be with you right away.
.If he can he will marry you.
.If he cannot he still will be with you and he would plan to never marry but adopt kids.
.If you turned down his feelings and or worse been with someone else, he will kill your partner and then take you as a prisoner keeping you locked away where no one can steal you from him again.
.You turned down his love, he will make sure he is the only one you can love.
.He of course is still loving and affectionate, but now you know he will do whatever it takes to keep you as his and his alone!
[YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS another chapter is done! I hope you all enjoyed this! I also, hope you all are having a good lunar new year! And stay sexy, all of my sexy muffins!]

I wasn't really expecting Noir would make it to the (Second-Chance) Finals alongside greats like Valfrey, but since we're here...
...I actually had previously written up responses to Valfrey's Honor Tier for Noir! And what better time to post them than now?
(Tagging @gethoce if interested in looking at this down the line, but seriously no pressure to respond back! I imagine you're busy with lots of things!)
-
One must live their life for a purpose such as serving a shogun or protecting one's people.
Noir's life was dedicated to making sure his little sister Adeleine had everything it was within his power to give her and also to protect her from physical and mental harm, making sure she never suffered the way he did. He did this admirably, though at great cost to himself.
If left without a purpose one must make it their mission to find one.
...However, after saving her and dying (and dying twice more as Dark Matter) he has felt completely and utterly lost. A puppet to fate. Noir has stopped dreaming. Stopped hoping...
Be the Master of one's emotions, yet do not rob yourself of your whimsy for it'd poison your mind.
Though he tries to deny it, Noir's actually kept his sense of wry humor despite all that he's been through and was a decidedly fun (!) big brother for both Adeleine and Gooey! While he was alive, he was pretty experienced at controlling how much what he felt inside showed on the outside. But after his experiences with Dark Matter, he's lost a lot of his defenses to his own emotional pain...
Always be honest
Ohohoho!
...No. Never. Noir has lied (albeit, they were white lies) through his teeth nearly every day of his life. About their family. About their world. About their chances. About his chances...
Do not steal unless it is to protect the weak
Every crime he committed was (at least in his mind) for her.
Do not sneak attack when a fair battle is possible
Sneak attacks were Noir's modus operandi! Why give his targets a chance to fight back or run when you can summon a sword in their back without his victims even getting to see what killed them...?
There is no honour in being outnumbered, use usually unfair tactics to even the playing field
Hmm. He felt outnumbered by the world. Does that count? XD
Though, interestingly enough, as Dark Matter Swordsman, he showed a degree of bushido (!) that the frightened human teen could never quite manage, outside of the realm of his fantasy stories. If either forms of Noir were outnumbered by strong opponents, their self-sacrificial nature would probably shine through...
Respect yourself, keep yourself healthy and well groomed
LMAO! Yeah, no... Noir does NOT respect his body (not after effectively "selling" it for what he believed would be Adeleine's safety) and generally finds it weak, painful, and a nuisance. He routinely sacrifices food and sleep for his little sister. He also insists on wearing that ugly scarf (/lh) everywhere, so probably not well-groomed?
Stay true to your principles
In the main storyline, at least, Noir never faltered. His name means "unstoppable" in his native language and he was always relentless in whatever he did. When deeply under the sway of the Dark Matter Blade, he did waver, but on his own, he stays true.
Do not slaughter your own kin unless they strike first
...Raquelle was family. She could have even been MORE than that to you, one day... But...she was never going to hurt you. You know that, right...? She was the only one who realized how much you'd been hurt. And just LOOK at what you did to her... Murderer...
Take vengeance on those who have wronged you or your kin
...They will never find the bodies. And in a few special cases, that's probably a good thing. The world without Noir is at least a world free of anyone who hurt him or what remained of his family.
Be polite and respectful to those who deserve it
Eh~h, Noir's kind of a sassy, perpetually pessimistic brat. XD He was raised with good manners but lashes out with a sharp tongue and rejection as a defensive mechanism. And even then, he'll still put his foot in his mouth, even to those who have been nothing but kind to him! (He might regret it, but he can't help himself now.)
If one serves a clan or leader that disrespects them or otherwise goes against their principles, they no longer deserve to be named kin
Both he and Raquelle forswore Raquelle's father as "family" after what he did to Noir. And he only ever served Zero via amnesia, brainwashing, or being physically puppeted. Even then, his soul remained in rebellion, praying for the abomination's defeat...
Do not disrespect Valfrey
Hohoho... Noir's actually got a huge soft side for living creatures in general and a lot of respect (or maybe awe? fear?) toward the concept of death, having grown up surrounded by it.
...HOWEVER, all this only stands if he doesn't open his stupid mouth around her. When it comes to one-on-one conversations, he almost unfailingly dooms himself in one way or another.
-
And there we go. Noir's got some positive qualities in this regard, but I feel like there is a definite lean toward the negative in him. Then again, being damned is kinda Noir's brand. ^_-

Film Friday: Godzilla Minus One
I never quite know what to think about Godzilla. The big radioactive bastard has held about every possible point at the Hero - Antihero - Villain spectrum at one point in his storied career of going ham on Tokyo. More well-read minds than me could probably write some rather insightful stuff about what has motivated the various shifts that has seen Godzilla be both a terrifying metaphor for the atomic bomb and a friend to children fighting enemies of humankind together with his amazing growing robot friend (and accompanying jazzy soundtrack.) Me, I have no idea, and basically only perk up when someone does Horror Movie-ass Godzilla again, such as today's movie, the somewhat confusingly numerated Godzilla Minus One.
It may not come as an incredible surprise to those of us familiar with world history that Japan 1945 wasn't a great place to be. Failed kamikaze pilot, if not "lapsed" is the correct term, Koichi knows this more than most. Not only did he chicken out of blowing himself and a big, but not cripplingly big, chunk of American naval equipment to kingdom come, his stop over at a pacific repair station turns into quite the clusterfuck as a local Cryptid known as Godzilla comes a'stomping. It might be sparse consolation that it's nothing to the Plus Sizes Fuckamajig that arises when US nuclear weapon tests causes Godzilla to grow to Tokyo-smashing size, strength and proclivity. It's now up to Koichi and his rag-tag band of post-war minesweepers to come up with a solution, before something larger and more merciless than they could imagine takes from them everything they know and love... again.
If I can fault the movie for anything, it does feel like it pulls its punches a mite in the moral greyness inherent to the setup. I recognize that a factually honest depiction of the Rape of Nanjing or some of the other shit that went down in Manchuria and Korea maybe isn't quite the path you go down in your big Atomic Lizard Smash movie, although I am undeniably reminded of how Godzilla in GMK is a vessel for vengeful WW2 soldiers. It does, however, tint the experience ever so slightly that basically every male character is ex-military, and a honorable, if demoralized lot.
Look, I'm not one to dictate how a country looks back at its history, with warts or without, I can only own the thoughts and associations that pass through my own labyrinthine head, and as such I will prepare to do so. From the little I've read on the topic, honoring dead WW2 soldiers is somewhat of a contentious topic in Japan, with the right-wing political figures in particular making somewhat of a show of it, and a degree of war crime denialism such an action requires. Whether this is in deference to tradition or in an attempt to drum up support of Japan forming their own army or whatever myopic yearning for a prelapsarian past the semi- and full fascists are on about in that particular corner of the world, I am sure I don't know as I lack context.
In light of this political pricklyness, I suppose it's good that the little bit we see from the end of WW2 is in the Pacific Theater. If nothing else because I suspect that experience sucked way harder for Japanese troops than anything on the mainland (also this isn't to suggest there weren't atrocities committed in the pacific theater, as what little research I have done suggest this is quite far from the truth.) Similarly, I do like how the movie seems set on rebuking the "honorable warrior's death"-idea that fueled the kamikaze attacks on a thematic level, rebuking the whole idea as the cold-hearted attempt to maintain authoritarian might with streams of lives that need not end. It's not amazingly nuanced stuff, but I do enjoy the "It's trivially simple to die for something. Choosing to LIVE for something is harder" -vibe that does a good job at selling a baseline humanity to the whole thing, especially as protagonist Koichi starts wondering if doing a kamikaze run on Big G himself is how he should atone for his cowardice in war.
Anyway, prickly political subtext handled with as much care as I can manage, let's close the chapter on that and get to the man of the hour, big G himself. The various ways in which Godzilla has been portrayed through the year are varied and exciting, but I do like the -1 version an awful lot. He's huge, for one, any Emmerichian attempts at tuning down the sheer leviathan mass of Godzilla is discarded in favor of the shock and awe of a creature so massive that it just moving breaks shit around it. And his Atomic Breath? Oh wow. Care has been taken to make this most B Movie Schlock-y of his ability something beyond mere biology. His spines glow with atomic power as he charges up the devastating attack, and although I will concede it maybe oversells the point slightly as these spines pop out and lock in as some kind of futuristic over-animated space gun ready to, if you pardon the ancient meme, fire his lazer. In short, the classic "Godzilla destroys the city" stuff has never looked better, and while I do consider it a bit of fan service that is perhaps in some ways incongruous with the tone the movie's trying for, the original Godzilla soundtrack still sounds chilling over scenes of amphibian megaviolence.
Speaking briefly on the non-godzilla, non-warcrime part of the movie, the story finds its heart with Noriko, a young woman who invites herself into Koichi's life in a way that feels very Haruki Murakami to me. She moves in to the ruins of his house after some business with a child switch-a-roo, and Koichi very pointedly doesn't kick her out. It's a Schroedinger's Relationship of sorts that forms. To all appearances Noriko and Koichi are living what might pass for a post-war domestic family life, but they're not married, not together in a romantic sense, and the child they raise aren't related to either of them by blood. It's a clever little touch to, I think, mirror how Japan is also built back together from the disparate pieces that are left after the destruction of WW2. It's also a frustrating new level to "Oh come on stop trying to fake date her and date her" kind of thing, as Koichi, deep as he is in his PTSD and survivor's guilt, refuses to commit himself to this ramshackle family he's ended up with. It's frustrating not because Koichi is acting out of character or like a jerk, even if he's a bit of one if I'm honest, but because we the audience have empathy for his ailments and want to see him get better. While the road this subplot takes is a bit fraught, it does lead to a rather sweet and satisfying ending as Koichi finally sheds the guilt and allows himself to live and love again. What can I say? I love Creature Feature-centered therapy.
So in short? Give Godzilla Minus One a look. It's perhaps the closest match to the 1951 original in tone that I've seen, and it wields a bevy of modern cinematic techniques in its quest to have that giant lizard fuck up Tokyo for the first time, again. There's also a brief bit that feels a bit like Jaws if the shark was Megalodon-sized and also radioactive, and who among us doesn't want to see such a thing?

↠━ღ◆ღ━↞
Rafe ditched me sometime that night, leaving the party to run off with Kelce and Topper.
I didn’t complain, actually very relieved that I didn’t have to pretend in front of his family, nor keep my head on a swivel to make sure he didn’t catch me alone again. Londyn and I left eventually as well, opting to go back to her house for the night. We were beat, the long day leaving us essentially useless. We fell asleep almost immediately after arriving, barely staying awake long enough to get ready for bed.
His sudden confession filled my mind for the rest of the night, brain struggling to understand where any of it came from. How did he know all of those things about me? Why did he wait so long to say anything? Why did he think I would suddenly fall into his arms and accept his so gracefully?
I left early the next morning, my father calling me home as some sort of punishment for my brother running off last night. I didn’t argue with him, bidding my farewells to the Woods’ before getting in the car Londyn’s mom ordered for me.
I didn’t get a moment to myself when I stepped foot into the shop. My father immediately sent me to work, ordering me to deliver groceries to people in town. I rode around Kildare on my dad’s boat with everyone’s orders, the deliveries were seemingly endless. Eventually I arrive at Kie’s parent’s restaurant, The Wreck.
I hop out of the boat with groceries in hand, dragging my feet towards the entrance. I enter the shop, tempted to just leave the groceries by the door and leave, and spot my brother and his friends gathered at a table nearby.
“And where the hell did you go last night?” I say, grabbing everyone’s attention. “I had to face the wrath of our dear father this morning, no thanks to you.” I cut my eyes at JJ as well, who sheepishly rubs the back of his neck.
“You don’t get to be mad at me, Riah.” Pope rolls his eyes at me. “You went to that thing with Rafe Cameron. If anything I should be the pissed one here. Matter of fact, I think I am.”
“I’m so sorry that you have no idea how to fight back against some bullies, and your sister had to step in to save your weak behind. Twice.” I set the groceries down on the counter before walking over to the table, crossing my arms across my chest as I stand in front of my body.
“I didn’t ask your dumb ass to do that. Now we’re both in deep shit.” He says. I scoff.
“I’m sorry that I risked everything I’ve worked for to defend your honor.” I continued. “I had absolutely no idea that almost sacrificing my scholarship and risking jail time was not worth defending your ungrateful ass. I’m sorry that you have a poor choice in friends that just can’t seem to stop committing crimes.”
“Don’t talk about them like they’re not there.” Pope says, actually looking up at me now. He looks more than a little irritated, his jaw clenching as he speaks. “Do you think you’re better than me because you hang out with Kooks?”
“No, of course not. Don’t be ridiculous.” I laugh dryly. “I just think you’re an idiot because you destroyed a thirty-thousand-dollar piece of property, no thanks to JJ once again, had some white boys posted outside of our house trying to intimidate us, and almost got arrested. You’re lucky JJ is a good friend or else your ass would be fried.”
“Thanks?” JJ says, not sure if I was giving him a compliment or insulting him.
“Didn’t you beat Rafe Cameron with a golf club? How is that any better than what I did?” He stands up, getting in my face.
“Because I’m not the one running around Kildare getting into bullshit everyday! That’s you!” I shout, shoving at his chest. Kiara moves to get in between us, but Pope doesn’t move. He just stares back at me just as angrily as I do him.
“Okay, I think you need to chill.” John B says to me.
“Shut up, John B.” Pope and I say in unison. The boy raises his hands in defense.
“Clearly none of you are talking sense into him, so I guess I have to.” I look around at the rest of the group, all of them avoiding eye contact with me.
“I make my own decisions, Neriah.” Pope mumbles, sitting back down in his chair.
“Well they aren’t smart ones.” I knock Kie’s hand off my shoulder. “There are people that care about you, Pope. More than the people in this room and you seem to forget that. Or maybe you just don’t give a damn.”
With that I walk away, making my way towards the door. The restaurant is silent for a moment, everyone taking in what I just said.
“We care about him just as much as you do.” JJ says, briskly walking up to me before I can get to the door. I chuckle humorlessly, giving the blonde a tight-lipped smile.
“Then act like it.” I say, pushing the heavy door open. His eyes shift down to my neck, widening slightly as they catch mine again.
“What happened to your neck?” He inquires, voice low enough for only me to hear. He reaches up to touch it but I push his hand away, zipping up my jacket all the way and ignoring his concerned eyes.
“See you at home. Or not.” I give my brother a final glance before turning away.
With that, I exit the shop and go back to our dad’s boat. I drive down the marsh, not looking back at the building despite feeling all of their eyes on me.
Pope never came home that night.
My parents waited for him for a while, but they went to bed sometime after one in the morning. I went to bed as well, knowing better than to expect anything different from my brother. He still wasn’t there in the morning when I woke up, the sun high in the sky and no Pope in sight.
Londyn and I decided to waste the day together, meeting Brye on the way. The two of them could sense my poor mood the minute they set eyes on me. The entire time they tried to cheer me up. After an hour of gossip and cracking bad jokes I’d finally had enough.
“You guys know better than to think telling terrible jokes is going to make me feel any better.” I finally speak after spending the past hour moping to myself in silence.
“We knew that at some point you’d get annoyed enough to finally say something. Which you did!” Brye says, nudging me obnoxiously. I roll my eyes, standing up from my seat.
“I’m going to the bathroom.” I mumble as I walk away.
I wash my hands in the bathroom, watching myself in the mirror above the sink. The bruise on my neck has only gotten worse, the dark purple splotches peeking out of the top of my shirt. I’m visibly tense, my eyebrows furrowed and jaw clenched unconsciously. My teeth have started to ache from the unintentional grinding.
I shut off the water, gripping the sides of the sink as I take a deep breath.
My brother and I each have our own lives. Very opposite lives. He would never do the things I do and I would never do the things I do. He’d sooner walk barefoot across broken glass before hanging out on Figure 8 willingly to be quite frank, which I understand. But sometimes I wish he would be more responsible. He actually has a future off of this island, but he never thinks of how easily that opportunity could be lost.
I have nothing again against his friends. I think Kie so desperately wants to defy her parents in any way she can, John B has a lack of true authority figures to guide him, and JJ is a klepto with a penchant for violence and alcohol. But that doesn’t make them bad people. They’re always there for my brother, they’d do anything for them, and I could ask for nothing more.
Except for them to make sure he doesn’t do the same stupid shit they do.
I sigh deeply, stepping out of the bathroom after drying my hands. I keep my head down as I walk, mind busy with things I need to say to Pope the next time I see him. I almost don’t hear the person calling for my attention.
“Excuse me. Excuse me, girl!” An older white woman dressed rather tackily calls out. I look around, wondering who she’s speaking to and furrow my eyebrows in confusion when she waves me over. “God, are you people deaf or something?” She says annoyedly, looking me up and down.
“Excuse me?” I ask, puzzled.
“Refill my drink. And make sure it’s light ice this time.” She shoves her empty glass towards me. When I don’t take it she looks at me expectantly. “Hello? Can you hear me? I said to get me a drink.”
“I don’t work here.”
“Then what the hell are you doing here?” She looks me up and down in disgust. “I didn’t know they let your kind of people into the club.” The other women she’s seated with giggle, each of them picking me apart with their eyes.
“What do you mean by that?” Feeling quite offended, I scrunch my face up at her. “Actually, I don’t care.”
“Did you sneak in here? Do I need to call security?” She says, smirking as she prepares to wave the guard over.
“She’s with me.” A familiar voice sounds out, footsteps approaching behind me. “Is there a problem, Carolyn?”
“Oh!” She says, dropping her hand back into her lap with a nervous smile. “Of course not. I just-”
“You ladies have a good day.” The voice says before placing a warm hand on my back and leading me away.
As soon as we’re out of the women’s line of vision I shove the hand off me, backing away quickly. I shiver at the way Rafe looks at me, the view of him genuinely smiling at me making me feel uneasy. It seems like I run into him more and more as the days go by.
“What are you doing here?” I ask. He chuckles, shaking his head.
“You're welcome.”
“I didn’t need your help.” I cross my arms, pushing past him to go meet my friends again.
“It looked like you were about to be removed from the property to me.” Rafe says condescendingly.
“Maybe all the coke is affecting your vision too.” Before I can make it very far, the Cameron son grabs my bicep and pulls me back to him. I try to snatch my arm away, but he doesn’t loosen up. “Don’t touch me.”
“Y’know, you really should be more grateful.” He looks down at me, still holding my arm in his grip. “You would be in a very bad position without me.” I scoff.
“I’m already in a bad position.” Roughly pulling myself away from him, I squint my eyes at him. “Leave me the hell alone, Rafe. I’ve already done what you wanted, and whatever you want to happen between us is not happening.”
“I don’t know…” He hums, tilting his head. “My side hurts a bit. My leg too. Maybe you can kiss it better for me?” He walks towards me, pretending to limp. I shove him away from me and he laughs.
“Fuck off, Rafe. I’m not in the mood for you today.” His laughter dies down slowly, eyes falling below my jawline. The feeling of his heated stare on me all of sudden has me shifting from foot to foot nervously.
“Did I do that to you?” He asks, eyes still fixed on the large, finger shaped splotches of purple decorating my neck. I pull up the collar of my shirt in an attempt to cover my exposed skin. “Don’t cover it. I want to look.”
“Rafe. Do not piss me off right now.”
“I’m being serious.” He steps forward, reaching to lower my hand. “They look pretty on you.” I scoff, swiping his outreached hand away.
“You’re a dick.” I say as I storm away from him, hearing his laughter and feeling his gaze on my back as I retreat.
I make it to my friends after a short walk, ignoring their questions about what took me so long. We sat in the sun for a bit longer, drinking lemonade and talking about how sad we are about the summer coming to an end soon.
I watch Rafe in the distance, talking with Topper and Kelce. Topper looks quite distressed, arguing with his two friends for a moment while they try to calm him down. I haven’t seen him with Sarah since Midsummers, and even then they looked a bit distant. At least Sarah did. I wonder if that’s what has him so upset.
“Rafe Cameron!” A voice calls out.
We all snap our head in the direction of the sound. I spot a shorter man get out of a car and walk towards the gate very menacingly. I watch as Rafe and Topper approach him, the younger confused as the man confronts Rafe very aggressively.
“Who did he piss off this time?” Brye asks, watching the ordeal disinterestedly.
“Who hasn’t he pissed off?” Londyn adds, causing me to throw my head back in laughter.
“Am I just some little bitch?” The shorter man asks rather loudly. “Is that what your family looks at me like?”
Rafe tries to calm him down, looking around at the crowd that’s started to gather. He looks just as confused as the rest of us, as if he has no idea why the man he seems to be quite familiar with has shown up to confront him.
“Okay, so why is your little sister and her little surf rat friends running around stealing $25k out of my house?”
Sarah? Surf rat friends? Stealing?
Sarah Cameron wouldn’t pick a penny off the ground for good luck, what the hell does he mean she stole twenty-five-thousand dollars from him? Sarah Cameron has more money than anyone on this island. And what Pogues are running around with the Kook princess? The only Pogues Sarah has ever spoken to willingly are me and John B.
John B. Surf rat friends. Pogues. John B. Sarah. John B.
Shit.
The confrontation turns violent when Rafe puts a hand on the man’s shoulder. The man shoves him roughly, yelling something that I can’t make out. Topper steps in and breaks up the altercation, separating the two.
“Sort this shit out with your sister.” The brunette man says.
“Alright!” Rafe says panickedly.
“Imma get my money. If it’s not from you, it’s from her.” The man backs off, walking towards his car. “Remember that. I’ll see you boys around.”
Rafe and Topper talk for a minute, the two of them looking equally as stressed out. Everyone else has stopped watching, including my friends who have gone back to their previous conversation, but I keep my eyes on the two. Eventually the boys get on their bikes, pulling off quickly as their engines rev all the way down the street.
How deep are Pope Heyward and his friends?
“You stole twenty-five-thousand dollars from a drug dealer…and spent it all on a hot tub?” I yell angrily. “Have you lost your minds?”
“To be fair, it’s a nice hot tub.” JJ says. I look at him incredulously.
I came to JJ’s house the next day to find my brother and confront him about the things I overheard the day before. I nearly passed out when I saw the large jacuzzi sitting in JJ’s front yard, knowing that only he’d be irresponsible enough to buy something like that with stolen drug money.
“How did you even find out?” Pope asks.
“He was yelling at Rafe about how his baby sister was running around with some Pogues robbing people.” Pope looks even more confused, jumping out of his chair before coming up to me in the middle of the yard.
“You were hanging out with Rafe Cameron?” I scoff in disbelief at his audacity to be upset with me.
“No, I wasn’t hanging out with him, and even if I was, that’s not the point.” I push past him to go stand on JJ’s porch next to Kiara. She looks at me sheepishly and scratches her head. “There is a man out there, multiple men, that want your heads.”
“Neriah, don’t worry. We got this.” JJ says walking up to me. He tries setting a comforting hand on my shoulder but freezes midair when I give him a deathly look. He backs off with his hands raised, going back to what he was doing before.
I spent a while at his house, stressfully thinking about the trouble my brother can’t seem to stay out of. The rest of them return to whatever it was they were doing before I arrived. I watch as Pope lifts Kie into a tree with a large bucket, and JJ sits in the hot tub under the shade of the tree. I have multiple missed calls from Rafe, surely about my brother and his friends running around with Sarah.
I’m so deep in my thoughts that I almost don’t notice John B. The boy speeds past me into JJ’s house, the rest of the group following after him. I don’t go in, letting them handle whatever his problem is on his own.
I hear stuff clattering around and muffled voices through the door, but I pay it no mind.
“John B, what do you need the gun for?” I hear JJ raise his voice. I stand up immediately, entering the house.
I briefly see the brunette push my brother into the table, walking so fast out the door that I almost miss him. I follow everyone out the house, watching as they chase him down. He speeds off on his bike, disappearing down the dirt road. I don’t ask them what’s going on, this being something that must be deeply personal.
I leave shortly after that, the atmosphere far too tense for me to feel comfortable there.
I return home, locking myself up in my room for the rest of the day. I only come out to shower and grab food, leaving my parents to wallow in their misery alone. Pope hadn’t been home in three days, and while I’m used to it, I don’t think my parents ever stop worrying. I hope he’s smart enough to come home tonight considering he has a once in a lifetime scholarship interview in five hours.
My hopes come true when I hear the front door open.
“You waited up.” Pope says to my father. The man had been sleeping in the living room since the night his son left, waiting for his return.
“You left?” Heyward asks. “Because I hadn’t noticed.”
The air is silent for a moment, tension replacing the sound of voices. I turn over in bed, slipping on my earbuds to drown out the sound of a lecture. I watch my bedroom door open slowly after a few minutes, behind it a tired looking Pope.
We look at each other for a moment, neither of us saying a word. He looks down at the floor before backing out of my room and closing the door behind him.
“Goodnight.” I whisper into the darkness of my room.
My dad and brother leave together early in the morning, away to Pope’s interview before I’m awake to see them off. Our dad wouldn’t be back until later, saying that he had to handle some business at the airstrip for the Cameron’s.
Pope didn’t come back that night either.
I spent half of the next day roaming around the south side, something I hadn’t done in a while. It was very comforting to know that I wasn’t an outlier here. Nobody thought less of me because of how much money I did or didn’t have, I was just another person here.
It also distracted me from my parents slowly going insane from Pope’s blatant disrespect and irresponsibility.
The house felt stuffier than the sticky, summer air outside sometimes, the wedge between my brother and our parents growing larger as the days go by.
As I peruse around midtown I people watch, residents running errands and tourists looking around like this is the most interesting place they’ve ever been. I end up near the dock, the ferry bobbing in the water next to the wooden deck. Everyone buzzes around, colorful clothes a blur in front of me as I watch mindlessly.
Out of the corner of my eye I spot a familiar car. I turn towards the car, squinting at the vehicle parked across the street.
My eyes widen when I spot the people inside.
I storm towards the car, everyone inside distracted with a heated conversation.
“Pope. Heyward.” I say when I reach the open driver's side window, my voice dangerously calm.
Everyone’s head snaps towards me as the words leave my mouth. Pope runs his hands over his face, looking even more stressed than he did a moment ago. Everyone looks scared and anxious, tension in the car high.
“Hey, Riah…do you think you can save the lecture for another day?” JJ says, leaning out of his window to speak to me. “We really don’t have time for this.”
“Kiss my ass.” I cut my eyes at JJ wh retreats back into the car.
“Neriah, we really don’t have time. Seriously.” Pope sighs, looking at me irritably.
“Oh, you wanna talk about time? We can talk about time.” I smile at him tensely. “You know what I spent my time doing last night? Convincing our father not to throw your shit out on the street. I should’ve let him do it considering that’s where you’d rather be nowadays.”
“Neriah, please.” Kie says, looking out the window anxiously.
“Shut the fuck up. I’m talking.” I snap.
“Don’t talk to her like that!” Pope snaps as well, hitting his hands on the steering wheel. “What is your problem?”
“Not only did you vanish, again, you ran out on a once in a lifetime opportunity. To do what? Hang out in your friend's car smelling like dope?” I ask motioning at the car. “You have officially lost your rabid ass mind.”
Pope snatches a piece of paper out of Kiara’s hand and shoves it at me, the wrinkled paper hitting me in the chest. I snatch it away, smoothing it out before reading it.
My eyes widen, eyes raising to finally see John B hiding in the backseat next to JJ.
“This! This is why I’m with my friends right now!” Pope shouts at me. I stare at the picture of John B’s face and the bounty over his head in shock.
“Not only are you majorly irresponsible, you're harboring a fugitive?” I whisper the last part, not wanting anyone around to hear. “I should turn your ass in. Maybe then my brother will stop roaming the streets like he doesn’t have a home.” I say to John B.
“God, Neriah. You just don’t get it, do you?” My brother’s voice drips in frustration directed at me. I sigh, throwing the paper back into the car.
“No, I get it.” I back away from the car. “I’ll be sure to tell mom you aren’t dead. Now go, before somebody recognizes you. Fucking idiots…” I mumble as I briskly walk away from the car, silently praying that they come up with something.

Wanted: Day One (RDR2 Fanfic, Arthur Morgan x F!Reader, 18+)
Summary: Arthur needs a good take for the gang and decides to go after the bounty on your head.
Author’s Notes: I needed to flesh this one out to get the ending how I liked it so there will be a few chapters. Told from both your and Arthur’s pov and set just before the Blackwater massacre. Also this doesn’t feel like high or low honor Arthur but a good in between so I didn’t tag it.

Wanted: Day One
Word count: 4822
The Van der Linde Gang had come to rely on two things and two things alone: hard work and money. All else came down to that. Dutch could claim it was family, faith, or whatever else he dreamed up all he liked, but Arthur knew better. He knew the bigger their gang grew, the harder it was for anything but those two things to drive them. That that, above all else, was what they needed to stay together and survive. He may have preferred the old ways when it was just the four of them, doing some good here or there, but those days were long gone. Now it was bring in money or die trying. And when Arthur stumbled across a particularly nasty bounty posted on Blackwater’s board, he figured he would have to do just that.
He and Hosea had been scouting out a scam on their own, letting Dutch and the others plan their boat robbery. It was nice working with Hosea—simpler, somehow. The man was sharp enough to make Arthur feel a fool time and again, but he felt he could take a back seat and let Hosea run things, something he normally couldn’t trust others to do well. And with this came an unusual calmness, a sense that he wasn’t doing enough. He always had to be going, running, finding a lead. So, when he rode into town and saw a brand new bounty poster, he couldn’t resist swinging off his horse and seeking it out.
The poster was for a shocking amount of money—a thousand dollars. Stranger still was that it was a lone soul, and that it was a woman. He read on to see the many crimes committed. It was nothing he hadn’t done himself which made him wonder what the price on his head would be. The amount still seemed high to him, but maybe committing as much murder as was mentioned tended to up the stakes. He pocketed the poster and went to mount his horse.
“I’d be careful with that one, mister,” said a voice from the porch of the Sheriff’s. Arthur looked over to see a deputy, a grave expression on his face. “Almost didn’t put that poster back up, how many people she done killed already.” When Arthur didn’t flinch at the threat, the man went on. “They all take that poster down, all as cocksure as you, and none of them’s ever come back. I’d think long and hard on that if I was you.”
“Why put it back up then?”
“We figure someone’s bound to catch her sooner or later. Get lucky more like. You think you’re the man for the job?”
Arthur chuckled. If anyone was, he was. It took a fellow degenerate to smoke one out. “I guess. Against my better judgment,” he mumbled.
“Well good luck then. I tip my hat to you.”
Arthur nodded at the deputy and turned his horse, heading for camp. He would need a few things before he tried his hand at this bounty, namely to tell everyone where he was going so that if he really did get in a bind, they could find him.
Upon reaching camp, Hosea sought him out and told him a few new details about the job they were running. It would be a week still until they could do it—it didn’t hurt to plan as well as they could in the meantime. After settling on that, Arthur made way to his tent to load up on ammunition. He put his bandolier on which drew Dutch’s attention like a moth to flame.
“You look like you’re preparing for war, son. Where’s the fight?”
Arthur pulled the bounty poster out of his satchel and handed it to Dutch. “Real nasty reputation on that one,” he told him. “I ain’t taking no chances.”
“No. Rightfully so.” Dutch finished reading it over and handed it back. “She sounds nice. Hell, may even fit in with our bunch.”
Arthur chuckled. “You ain’t kidding. Too bad she’s worth so much or I’d consider it.”
“You need another gun?”
“No,” Arthur said quickly, knowing this type of outlaw and that having anyone with him would just slow him down.
“Fair enough.” Dutch turned to go back to his tent, sighing as he went. “Good luck then. Do try to make it back in one piece.”
“No promises,” Arthur muttered.
With this, Arthur made for his horse, checking his weapons as he went. All was as in order as it could be, and the only thing remaining was the ride. Arthur mounted up with confidence, knowing what it would mean for the gang to bring in this much money. He would outsmart this bounty target if it took days and all his might to do it.
Barely out of camp, Arthur steeled himself and let determination take over, ready for the fight, ready to unknowingly go after none other than you.
~
Twenty days. It had been twenty days since you last saw a soul—a bounty hunter you’d left dead in the dirt. So far, you had put down five since coming to the wind-worn canyons of Hennigan’s Stead. It was the perfect place to evade capture. There were no trees, no cover for bounty hunters to hide in, nothing but the wide open. Sneaking up on you was not an option, and anyone bold enough to approach you outright would die for it. This was a game of strategy, and strategy was something you were deadly good at. You had booby trapped the paths at your back, sat yourself up at high vantage, and left the rest up to your skill and your sense. All that remained was luck, and with all the preparation, it had leaned in your favor every time.
As you sat at the campfire cleaning your revolver, you pondered how long you would stay here and where you would go next when your horse’s head snapped to attention. You looked to where it looked, down the canyon path below. Nothing and no one was there. It would be difficult for someone to hide there seeing as it was just after noon and the sun and shadows were currently working in your favor. Plus, you didn’t hear a horse—didn’t hear anything for that matter. You chalked it up as one of those gila monsters your mount hated so much and went back to cleaning your weapon. You didn’t completely wave away the threat though. Doing so would be unwise and the very thing to get you caught. You therefore shifted around the fire so that you faced where your horse still looked, rapt with nerves.
Minutes passed by, and the animal went back to standing with its leg cocked and its head bowed. You moved on to your rifle, cleaning it with precision, counting the ticks you had marked into its grain with your knife—one for each man put down. You didn’t ever think that would be something you prided yourself in, but life could certainly harden a woman. Your circumstances had forced you into your wayward nature, and you weren’t ashamed of it a bit. That is, as long as you weren’t caught. Meeting your maker was certainly something you had pushed far down the road, not intending to think about it if you didn’t have to.
Just as you finished with your gun, you heard a rock skitter down the path at your back and whipped around, glad once more for the daylight. The path rounded the corner behind you, so if anyone was around the bend, you wouldn’t be able to see them. You moved silently, flattening against the canyon wall at your back and moving steadily up the path, gun raised. You didn’t know how anyone could have gotten past the lines you had tied across the path farther up, especially not without alerting you. You were beginning to think this was your paranoia at work and that some snake or lizard waited just around the corner when you stepped around it, preparing to shoot.
You brought the gun away from your shoulder when you saw what lay in the path: absolutely nothing. No animal, no bounty hunter, nothing. How the rocks could suddenly start tumbling down the path on their own, you didn’t know. But you were suspicious enough to find out. You raised your gun again and made for your camp when you heard the quiet crunch of rocks underfoot. It could have been your horse shifting its weight, but you weren’t taking any chances. You rounded the corner again and felt your heart skip a beat when your gaze landed on a man standing just behind your horse, patting its neck like it was his own.
“Don’t touch the horse or I kill you where you stand.”
“You would have done that already,” he quipped. “If you could.” You noted he stayed standing just behind your horse, his legs behind its legs, his head behind its neck. Unless you wanted to kill your own horse, you didn’t have a proper shot. Not to mention shooting a gun this close may startle the animal enough for it to get in the way. You cursed yourself for letting this happen and held your gun steady.
“How’d you get up here?”
He chuckled, continuing to pat your horse fondly. It leaned into his touch, unaware of the danger. “Those lines you got drawn across the way reflect the sunlight. May want to reconsider where to put them during the day.”
You narrowed your eyes at his arrogance but pushed on. “Then how’d you get around me?”
“Climbed.” You hated the simple answer, especially for not thinking of it. A man of his height could easily catch the lip of the canyon just above your heads and pull himself up. He had probably watched you walk up the path just as he walked down it one level higher.
“Clever.” It was all you would give him. He was brave for coming here in the day, and it had paid off, as he had avoided your traps. But beyond shooting you where you stood, he didn’t have a way to catch you alive. You would put a bullet in him before it got to that.
“Was that you on the canyon floor?” you asked, stalling. You needed a better plan than what was unfolding now. The only problem was that he got more time to plan too, learning your nerve all the while.
“Yep. Backtracked when I realized you had the high ground.”
“How? You never saw me.”
“Saw the smoke.” He looked at you, one eye barely visible from behind your horse. And damn him for that temptation because your finger was itching to pull the trigger, but you still couldn’t guarantee your horse’s safety. “A word of advice. I know most bounty hunters are too stupid to go after their targets in the daylight, but it has its advantages. Learn to work against them.”
You felt anger rise in your belly at his patronizing tone, like he wasn’t about to try to capture you and have you hanged. “Yeah, well some have tried. They’re all dead.”
“Not all of them,” he said lowly, holding your gaze as he hid like the coward he was. You noticed the pair of guns climbing up his back into the sunlight. A fat load of good they would do him strapped to him. It was the likely sidearm you couldn’t see that worried you. But if he hadn’t shot you yet, he wouldn’t. He wanted you alive, and he must not be a good enough shot to try to disable you. You considered running for the path at your back and killing him when he pursued. In fact, that was looking like your best option when he spoke again. “Don’t think about bolting or I’ll shoot. Just come quietly. Don’t nobody need to get hurt.”
You adjusted your aim, wondering how your horse would react if you shot this man’s hat off his head to prove a point. For the brim of it was nearly all you could see of him, sticking out past the shining coat of your mount. “I’m still debating putting a bullet in you. The horse’ll live.”
“And if you kill it? For pride?”
“Not for pride. For survival. And if I did, I would just go find yours. I’m sure it’s around here somewhere.” That gave you an idea.
On a whim and before he could decipher your plan, you fired near enough but not at him, your gun louder than a cannon in the close quarters and with the resounding echo bounding off the canyon walls. Your horse reared in fear, but instead of lining up a shot on the now coverless man, you were already long gone, rounding the corner as fast as your feet would carry you. You heard him curse behind you and start in hot pursuit.
You ran faster than you ever had and followed the path upward, spotting a lone horse standing up the way. You ducked under the wire you’d planted, careful not to graze it, and turned when you got far enough away. You had spun around just in time to crouch as the man shot straight at your head. Taking you alive didn’t seem to matter anymore, and your aim suddenly became crucial as you raised your gun toward the wire he was nearing and fired right back. He was close enough for you to see his eyes widen in fear when he realized your plan. It was too late for him to do anything about it—the familiar snap of wire resounded, your bullet ripping straight through it. The man leapt backward as your rigged dynamite blew, the explosion louder than anything yet. You prayed your horse was okay but didn’t turn back to see the damage, too busy running for the man’s spooked mount. It was staying in place but only just, prancing as if its tether to this world was nearing its end. You jumped on its back and dug in your spurs hard, only looking back when you were well on your way. You saw enough dust rising to mean you had probably taken out the entire canyon path. You let out a laugh in triumph as you spurred the horse harder and let it fly.
~
Arthur was madder than a hornet and twice as vengeful when he finally got the horse calm enough to mount it. He spurred it hard, rounding the now dangerously narrow path out of the canyon, shooting through the dust clouds still forming. He couldn’t see where you’d gone, partially because of the dust in his eyes and partially because his head was still spinning from a blow to the skull. He knew the warm dampness at his temple was blood but ceased to care as he pursued you, angry with himself for getting close enough to that wire to let it blow him up along with the canyon. At least the horse was unscathed, and it was a good one besides—fast and sure-footed. When he topped the hill, he saw a speck in the distance racing toward the ranch he had passed on the way in. If its unbridled speed was any indication, it was his horse. And he owed the woman atop it a damn killing.
Arthur was at the ranch in no time, searching it up and down for signs of you. He didn’t spot his horse until he reached the other side of town, seeing its familiar coat flash in the sunlight as his mood soured further—it had no rider. He demanded the person nearest to explain what had happened. It was a boy worried sick about his new horse that had just been stolen.
“Was it a woman?” Arthur demanded as he dismounted, preferring his own horse.
“Yes, but…well, she was dressed funny.”
“What color’s the horse?”
“A bay, sir. Are you gonna bring it back?”
Arthur was already riding away when the boy finished his question. He hit the path and flew, pushing his horse hard. Once he had a better vantage, he spotted you. And what a sight you made as he felt the satisfaction of victory overcome him, knowing he would have you captured soon enough. For the horse you had taken liberty to must have been green—it was bucking higher than any he had seen before, snapping in half in its attempt to get you off its back. He had to hand it to you though, you were sticking to its back like you had grown straight out of it when he finally caught up to you. He got his lasso out and was setting his sights on you when you noticed him.
“Forward, damn it!” you yelled at the animal. Then, “Leave me alone you bastard! Can’t you see I’m busy?”
Arthur laughed at this. If it weren’t for the stunt you had pulled in the canyon, he may have even admitted he liked your daring.
He began swinging the lasso above his head, readying it with a big enough loop to go over your shoulders. He would need your arms trapped with no chance of reaching the gun at your hip. When the horse came down again, as stationary as it would ever be, he threw the rope. It went straight over your head. As the horse bucked, Arthur pulled hard, separating you from the animal with enough force that you wouldn’t fall underneath it and be trampled. The horse continued its bucking but moved away, far enough for Arthur to dismount and run to you. He flipped you over, noting your joining with the ground had knocked the breath out of you. Good. It was easier to work when his target wasn’t throwing insults left and right.
You let out a strangled cough, looking over to the horse still bucking like mad. Arthur smiled and continued his work, tying your hands tight behind your back. “You know, I reckon you nearly had that horse broke.”
You didn’t respond, still heaving in breaths. Arthur moved on to your feet, tying them just as tight.
“Shouldn’t have switched. You’d taken mine and you’d be on your way to freedom by now.”
“Screw you,” you said on an outward breath, falling into a fit of coughing after you managed the words.
He smirked and double checked his work before taking your gun from your hip and your rifle from your side—it had fallen away from you when you came off the horse. When he had both secured, he lifted you, making you grunt when he slung you over his shoulder. “You’re coming with me. Got a sheriff in Blackwater who wants to meet you.” When you didn’t respond to the jab, he lowered his tone. “And if you ever try to pull another stunt like the one in the canyon, you’re a dead woman. Mark my words.” There was still no response when he lifted you onto the back of his horse. He sighed in annoyance and made sure you still had a pulse. You did—your silence was just formed from spite, it seemed. He’d certainly seen it before, though he couldn’t say he expected it from you. All he knew of you so far was the fight you had in you, and if he had his guess, he would have thought you’d be kicking and screaming for your freedom by now. But maybe he was wrong. Or maybe you were planning something worse and he would have to kill you after all.
Arthur got on his horse, proud of his work despite the brief interruption in his pursuit. Leaving the bucking horse to tire itself out, he made way for Blackwater, thinking if he made good enough time, he’d get there by nightfall. That boy could get his own horse as far as he was concerned, especially since it was only down the road a ways. Arthur couldn’t risk letting you escape again besides.
It was only when he had gotten about an hour down the path and nearly into West Elizabeth that you spoke. “You leave my horse back at that ranch?”
Arthur had been rather enjoying the silence and serenity of the ride and let his annoyance be known. “Yes. And don’t start. I don’t wanna hear it.”
After a beat, in a tone more statement than question, you said, “You’re taking me to Blackwater?”
“No, I’m just in the habit of tying folk to the back of my horse for a joy ride. Of course I’m taking you to Blackwater. What the hell you think this is?”
You mumbled something Arthur couldn’t decipher, though your tone was bitter enough for him to take a good guess.
“Excuse me?” Arthur turned to look at you, wanting you to say it to his face.
You met his eye, and he saw the defiance in your gaze fade as soon as you saw the dried blood in his hairline. You barked a laugh instead. “That canyon rock get you good? That why you’re in such a pitiful temper?”
“Watch your mouth,” he snapped. “I can still bring you in dead you know, and dead’s a whole hell of a lot easier on me.”
“You won’t,” you shot back. “You want all that money for yourself. Greedy bastard.”
“You keep it up and I won’t give a damn either way.”
“Yeah you will,” you mumbled, nearly low enough for him not to hear. But he did hear, and he was growing tired of listening to you—tired of being in your presence. The money would feel much better in his possession than you would. With that thought and without another word, Arthur kicked his horse up into a lope, determined to get you off his hands as soon as possible. It only took two more insults of yours for him to knock you out cold in the meantime.
After long enough that his back was sore and his horse was sweating, Arthur watched the town of Blackwater come into view. It was already dark but hadn’t been for long. That was no matter—the sheriff would be right pleased with himself to have you in his jail cell no matter the hour. So, with a long breath born of fatigue, Arthur pointed his horse toward town.
He had barely crossed into Blackwater when he heard an almighty commotion from a nearby bush, the sound so sudden his horse jerked away from it. He looked behind him and found you gone. Arthur roared his anger and swung down with gun in hand, gaining on the bush when he saw you leap out the other side of it, hopping along with your feet still tied together. He would have laughed if he weren’t so angry, the sight downright ridiculous. He holstered his gun and retrieved his lasso once more, letting you make it a ways before he roped you just for the sake of crushing your hope further. As soon as the rope fell over you, you hit the ground like you had before, grunting in pain when your back met the dirt.
“What exactly was your plan?” Arthur said with amusement as he gathered the rope’s slack and stood over you.
You met his eyes with a hatred so deep he changed course.
“Don’t go looking at me like that. You made your bed, and now you’re gonna lie in it. Ain’t my fault it happened this way.”
“I thought you said you’d kill me. Or was that all talk?” you snapped. He understood then. You’d been escaping in the hopes that he’d shoot you dead then and there.
“What, are you scared of a little law? Of a noose around your neck? How is me killing you now any different?”
“It ain’t about-” You stopped and clamped your mouth shut tight in defiance. Not understanding this, Arthur ignored it and picked you up once more, throwing you over his shoulder.
“I’m walking you in this time. No funny business or your head’ll meet the back end of my gun.”
“I’m staring at the back end of something else right now and contemplating ending it all myself.”
“Very funny. Now shut it. That’s the last warning I’m giving you.”
You stayed mercifully quiet as Arthur carried you all the way to the Sheriff’s, his horse following dutifully behind. He somewhat expected the same deputy from before to be there, shocked that he had been successful. In fact, he was expecting something of a hero’s welcome but was met instead by a dark, quiet jailhouse. He looked around, dropping you on the ground but not leaving your side. He wasn’t foolish enough to let someone else steal the prize he had nearly lost his head to capture.
“Sheriff’s gone,” came a voice from Arthur’s right. He looked over to see a man leaning against the building, cigarette burning lowly in the darkness.
“Where’d he go?”
“He and his whole outfit’s been tasked with transporting them Portriss Brothers up north. Won’t be back for five days, he said. Would be longer, but he don’t trust this town to remain civil.” The man chuckled. “I don’t blame him. It only takes a minute for this whole place to turn to hell, no matter how civilized folk claim to be.”
Arthur ran a hand down his face. It was hard enough to keep you tied up for an evening. Five days was another story.
“Who you got there?” the man asked.
Arthur looked down at you, debating whether or not to tell him who you were. It was likely someone would try to steal you off him if he did.
“Girl I caught stealing horses,” he murmured, turning toward the direction of camp and wondering whether he should take you there.
He heard a laugh at his feet and looked to you, seeing the snide smile on your face and realizing what it was for. He reached for his gun to give you a quick blow to the head, but before he could, you beat him to the chase. “Name’s Y/N Y/L/N, fella.”
“The one whose posters have been up for months now?” the man responded, an excitement in his voice Arthur didn’t care for.
“That’s the one,” you answered. Arthur looked down and met your eye, deciding not to use his sidearm. He brought his boot down on your ribs instead. Hard. At contact, you let out a loud grunt of pain and rolled onto your side, your teeth gritted.
The man spoke again, his excitement making his voice louder and louder. “She’s worth what, a thousand or so?”
Arthur took a long breath. The goddamn things he got himself into. He pointed his gun at the stranger. “Keep your voice down and don’t tell nobody about this. Or I will find you, and I will kill you. Is that clear?”
The man threw his hands up. “I didn’t mean nothing by it. Honest.”
“Get going,” Arthur threatened, not flinching in his hold on the gun.
The man was smart enough to round the corner without another word. Arthur took in his surroundings, making sure no one else was around to hear just who he had tied at his feet. He didn’t see a soul and quickly holstered his gun before picking you up.
“Bastard,” you gritted out. He may have broken a rib or two with that kick if your pain was any indication.
“You deserved it,” he shot back. He threw you over his horse once more and mounted, deciding camp would have to do for the few days the law was gone. “I’m taking you with me until the sheriff gets back.”
“How kind,” you spat. Arthur thought he could hear a smile in your voice despite the venom in those words. It made him angry, and he decided then and there these five days would be hell for you. There would be no chances for escape, no getting a rise out of gang members. No, you would be spending five days tied to a tree with nothing but your guilty conscience as company. It wouldn’t be long until you were begging him for food and water besides, and he fully intended to use that to his advantage.
Arthur began forming a plan as he got closer to camp, wondering how long it would take to get you to crack. He was particularly skilled in doing so, and if he was lucky, he would be successful in fewer days than it took for those lawmen to make it back. If he was really lucky, he would have complete silence out of you in no time. Arthur grinned at the thought as he rode on, the night pushing in on all sides.

"The Bar"
Hello people of Tumblr!
So I am attempting to write a book about a femme who explores her sexuality as a lesbian while also being religious and dealing with internalized homophobia.
To get more motivation, I wanted to share a little piece of it to see what other people think of it.
I have one scene written out when the femme (Mary) meets a butch (Joan) at a bar for the first time. Keep in mind, this is just a rough draft so ignore anything that may seem poorly written. Enjoy!
I remember her so clearly: she was pretty tall with a masculine physique and also had this short, black slicked-back hair. Oh, I will never forget that hair. She was looking straight at me and we connected eyes. Yet, being the timid person I was, I quickly broke our silent glance and focused on my drink instead. It's not that I didn’t like her looking at me, I loved every moment of it. But it just felt too good, almost as if I was committing a crime (technically, I was). Despite my broken contact, I could still feel her eyes on me. I wasn’t sure if I should pray for her to come over or stay where she is. Yes, I did love her but that could mean a lifetime in hell for the both of us. I guess a hell with her was more desirable than a heaven by myself.
“Miss?” I heard her say.
I looked up from my glass and felt like I was on fire. But fuck that fire felt so good. God can punish me for my sins but he will never be able to take away the rush that went through me when I got to look at her closer. Is this how Eve felt when she ate the forbidden fruit? I thought to myself. She had these piercing brown eyes that were almost black and a sharp jawline that I swore could kill a man.
“Yes?” I responded.
“Would you like to dance with me?”
I knew it was wrong what she was asking me to do. It wasn’t just a dance, it was also the attraction between us as two women and admitting to it. It would be giving in to my pleasure in exchange for my obedience to God. I can do a lot of things for His honor but I think it’s time I do something for my own.
“Yes,” I said with a smile on my face.
She gave her hand out to me and I took it without another thought in the world. Her hand was as soft as cotton. I could have fondled it for days. When we got to the dance floor, she took her other hand and put it on my waist. I inferred that I was supposed to put my hand on her shoulder so I did that. We did a dance like any other couple would by casually swaying to the music.
“What’s your name?” the woman asked.
“It’s Maria but most people just call me Mary,” I said.
“Maria…what a pretty name” she asserted.
I chuckled a little because I felt nervous around her but also flattered. Many men have said that same line to me but when she said it, I felt like the only woman in the world. I didn’t care about any of those men’s comments on my name but for some reason, I was really happy that this woman liked mine.
“What’s your name?” I asked.
“It’s Joan.”
Joan. Like Joan of Arc, Patron Saint of France. She definitely emulated her as a crossdresser and having the strength to do it right in front of the public eye, risking everything. Or, maybe everything was already lost. Maybe she had already fallen victim to the risks. That is something that made me so attracted to butches. They had the one thing I didn’t: Bravery.

Between Justice and Mercy
My very belated short story for this year's @inklings-challenge! Thank you so much to the mods for a lovely event and the opportunity to get my brain back in gear for writing!
The Imperator’s dungeons were mostly emptied ahead of his attempt at war. Though a cruel man, he was also practical. Selenara’s population was small, and most had never left its borders, by the Imperator’s decree. Political prisoners and the few who had actually committed crimes would serve for his war effort as another form of punishment.
One prisoner yet remained, however, with whom Kazmera needed to discuss her grandfather’s twisted governance. This prisoner was too old to fight, and even if he were in the prime of his life, the Imperator would not have allowed him to go free.
And so Selenara’s newly crowned queen made her way into the depths of the dungeons, where no trace of the weak sunlight penetrated. It was cold as winter, damp, and rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of those who died there. Kazmera repressed a shudder and walked quickly, grateful for her heavy, fur lined cloak.
It was not hard to find the prisoner she sought; he was the only one remaining on that level. It was so quiet Kazmera could hear her own heart beating as she approached his cell.
“My lord?” she asked as she stepped forward. Her torch cast shadows into the small cell, with only enough room for a rough cot, table for eating and a candle, and a toilet in the corner. The lord sat on his cot, hunched over, the shadows making his profile appear even more aged. She placed the torch into a holder next to the cell.
“My queen,” he said, looking up at her. “The guards warned me you might pay me a visit.”
“I am glad they did,” she replied. “So you know why I have come?”
“I can imagine,” he answered. “You want to know the truth of my crimes against your grandfather.”
“Yes,” she said quietly, and waited for him to go on.
“It is true, my lady. I was a leader in your father’s rebellion against him.”
“That, I did not doubt,” she replied. “Did you plan to assassinate my grandfather in the midst of the coup?”
“Would your opinion of the rebellion change if I had?” For a moment, there was fire in his eyes, and Kazmera could understand why her grandfather feared this man even from his prison cell, feared his leadership skills and passion for his cause.
She paused for a moment to say a prayer for her parents’ memory. “My opinion of my father’s rebellion would not change, no. I am still grateful he tried to give us all a better life, even if my parents were murdered as a result.”
She swallowed. “But my opinion of you would change, my lord. My father did not intend to kill his own father, of that I am certain.” She took a breath before asking her next question. “And is it true we are blood relations, my lord?”
He did not look back up at her, his earlier defiance lost to the shadows of the past. He merely held up his left arm, and a cloud of inky black darkness appeared in his hand, contrasted even with the cell’s gloom. “Is my magic enough answer for you, dear cousin?”
“It is,” she replied. “I would honor that relationship, lord cousin, and welcome you back to my family’s table.”
“Would you?” he replied, looking back up at her this time. “I never answered your question, Queen Kazmera.”
She met his gaze. “I was merely curious. The answer, I find, matters not to my heart. My grandfather slaughtered most of our family, including my parents. I grew up alone with him. I knew his heart, and there was no kindness within it.”
She attempted to swallow the lump that had suddenly formed in her throat. “I think there is still kindness left in your heart, my lord. My grandfather and his enablers may have tried to destroy it, and you with it, but I do not believe they succeeded.”
He nodded stiffly. “Your father was a good man, despite your grandfather. He would have been a good king. And if you’re half the good person he was, Selenara is in good hands for the future.”
“Thank you,” she replied.
“Don’t thank me,” he answered. “Have you shown mercy to your grandfather’s other prisoners?”
“Yes,” she answered. “As I will show mercy to you.”
She drew a set of keys out of her pocket--a set of keys which had been difficult to obtain, and caused more bloodshed in the palace. She unlocked the door, and gestured for him to come forward.
“What may I call you?” she asked, offering him her arm as they began their journey back upward into the light.
“Your father called me Uncle Feliks,” he replied, still gruffly but a measure less than before.
“It suits you, Uncle,” Kazmera replied with a small smile. “Come, I’ll show you to your rooms, and we can become acquainted after you have a hot meal.”
“Very well,” he replied. “I hope the food’s better, at least.”
She laughed.
Each cell they passed on their way back to the palace was empty.

Beast Wars X TFO scenario
Optimus Primal, Cheetos, Black Arachnia, Tarantulas, Ravage, Silverbolt, Ratrap and Dinobot meeting a TFP Predacon reader that just crashlanded into earth as a protoform and the pod scanned the bones of the first creature it could find (that being the dead predacon)
I'm assuming you mean Rampage instead of Ravage given Ravage was kinda barely there. If you did actually mean Ravage, my bad just let me know and I'll do him separately!
-For Optimus, well... Isn't this just prime? They already have enough of a headache fighting Megatron and his merry band of idiots and assholes. And now they have to deal with an ancient Predacon proper? It's not looking good. But, he hasn't completely given up hope. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Or, rather, he's hoping you'll join HIM. Predacon altmode or not, you're still an intelligent creature. Perhaps you can be reasoned with.
-Cheetor is nowhere near as scared as he should be. The Preds just have one extra aft to kick, just so happens that this one is a whole lot bigger. He's not exactly happy about it, but hey, what's complaining about it gonna do?
-for blackarachnia, homegirl is in full scheming mode. She wants an alliance with you yesterday. She's gonna try every tactic in the book to get you on her side so she can stage a coupe. Really, what are the chances ol' Buckethead can take on a wholeass mechanical dragon? You're practically a trump card. A trump card she wants in her hand.
-tarantulas has a thousand different plans for you. Convincing you to join his side, convincing you to stay far far away from that witch blackarachnia, taking you apart to study your mechanics, taking you apart and putting you back together, digging you with a shock collar to make sure you stay loyal to him... So many evil little plans to make.
-rampage is almost comforted by your presence. He sees a kindred spirit in you: a spirit of incredible violence and destruction, not to seek power, but simply for desolation's sake. He wants to commit unspeakable crimes with you.
-silverbolt is considering this his ultimate test as a heroic character. He's always strived to be the perfect knight in shining armor. Now here's his dragon to slay. Of course, if you prove to be reasonable he probably won't lean into the whole slaying thing as much, but he will be at least a little disappointed that he doesn't get the chance to.
-all rattrap can think is just... Nope. Nah. No thanks. Nada. Negative. Negatory. Nein. Not happening. He's gonna pack up his shit and he's gonna scram. Off to live as a vagabond rat. Of course, he'll come back about an hour later, but he REALLY doesn't want to fight a fucking dragon. He likes being alive and not crispy fried, thanks.
-dinobot is in absolute awe. He is having a religious experience seeing you glide through the air. A Predacon... One of the ORIGINAL Predacons. Those his kind were named for... Alive. He wants you on his side so badly. He'll seek you out, try to tell you that the Darksyde's crew has no honor, and that you're better off with the Maximals, backwards as it seems. Then he'll try to fight you because he really really wants a match with what he considers a worthy opponent.
BONUS ROUND:
-Rhinox is so fucking tired, please let this be a nightmare. He's already carrying the Maximals half the time with his chainguns, but they can only do so much against a fucking dragon. He's honestly considering taking off with Rattrap, but unlike Rattrap, if he's at that point it's gonna take a lot longer than an hour for him to change his mind and come back.
-Waspinator would really appreciate it if you would not take part in the tradition of using him as the communal chew toy. Please. Please consider it.

Finale
Who else loves a good reprise medley finale?
—
Lights up. GENE cleans out his locker. HE walks outside. Troops are there, with tanks and artillery and sewing machines for parachutes. BRINKER walks over.
BRINKER
Hey, Gene. Ready to enlist?
GENE
I guess so.
BRINKER
My dad’s here. He wants to meet you.
MR. HADLEY approaches.
MR. HADLEY
Look at those doughboys! And their artillery—sewing machines!
BRINKER
This war is technical, so they’ve got to use all kinds of machines. Even sewing machines.
MR. HADLEY
Well, I can’t imagine any man in my time settling for duty on a sewing machine. I can’t picture that at all.
(to Gene)
So what are you enlisting in, son? There are so many exciting things to enlist in these days. Frogmen, the Paratroops…I’d give something to be a kid again with all that to choose from.
GENE
Well, I was going to wait, but then I figured…
Why wait to be drafted when we can choose now?
Control our own fate as much as they’ll allow
So I’m joining the Navy. I’ll never see a foxhole, I hope. And Brinker’s all set for the Coast Guard.
MR. HADLEY
The Coast Guard?!
BRINKER
You know, Dad, the Coast Guard does some very rough stuff.
MR. HADLEY shakes his head.
MR. HADLEY
What world am I living in?
Has everyone gone mad?
Get on up and be a man
‘Cause there’s a world war and real work to be had
Disappointed in kids these days
They wouldn’t know honor if it hit them in the face
If I was your age, I wouldn’t be playing it safe
You have to do what’s right
Whatever you feel is right
Just make sure it’s something you’ll be proud of in hindsight
‘Cause this is your moment
This will decide the rest of your lives, it’s true
The stories that you tell of this will define you
And you don’t wanna be the kids left behind
BRINKER rolls his eyes. MR. HADLEY walks away. BRINKER scowls.
BRINKER
Sorry about my dad.
GENE
It’s all right.
BRINKER
It’s all that World War I malarkey that gets me. I’m no hero, and neither are you. And neither is he. He never was. I don’t care what he says he almost did in World War I.
GENE
I think he just feels left out, being too old for the war this time.
BRINKER
Left out! Left out! He and his crowd are responsible for it!
The war, it started, before our time
We committed no crime
But now it’s our duty to go and die
While the ones who caused this just sit idly by
It’s all just a trade
A deal in the works for decades
We’ll take their place to pay for the mess that they’ve made
The old men made this and we’re stuck in the middle
And nobody cares, not even just a little
It almost feels like a prank they’re having
It’s such a joke but I’m not laughing
BRINKER walks away. GENE stands there, contemplating. HE turns to the audience.
GENE
I don’t think I believe him
It’d be safe if it were true
But war supersedes generation
Where there’s ignorance and fear, it follows too
HE looks around at the war reminders around him. HE looks up at the sky.
GENE
Things at Devon are different these days
The atmosphere is sadder lately
No one talks about you ‘cause I can’t talk about you
Not in the past tense, someday maybe
Now that I’ve lost you
Feels like I’ve lost myself
But I think it was long ago
that I really lost myself
In a world of my own
A separate construct of ignorance
And I missed the true separate peace we had found
What I wouldn’t give to go back to it now
The evil in the world couldn’t break you
So the evil in me did it instead
But you took it with you
Now it’s dead
It died with you
And my fears of the war, they all slip away
Like dew in the sunlight, evaporating
‘Cause what’s there to fear, when you’ve already killed
Your enemy, the fear and the hatred within
GENE marches away as PATRIOTIC MUSIC plays. Lights dim slightly.
OLDER GENE approaches and looks at the building. HE looks at the stairs Finny fell down.
ENSEMBLE
Return to Devon
1957
OLDER GENE
Things at Devon look strangely the same
Updated so they haven’t aged a day
Plus c'est la même chose, plus ça change
The more things stay the same, the more they change
Locked myself in a prison/of resentment and fear
I didn’t even realize/but now it’s so clear
But I felt no fear in the war
I felt no fear anymore
‘Cause what’s there to fear, when you’ve already killed
Your enemy, the fear and the hatred within
You took it with you
It died with you
HE goes to stare at the tree. HE places a hand on the trunk.
OLDER GENE
It doesn’t look so big and fearsome anymore
Ain't it funny how nothing endures
Not a tree, not love, not death by violence
And we find and we lose ourselves in the silence
The memory of seventeen still lingers
Our innocence, it slipped right through our fingers
We found ourselves pitted against the world and the war
We reacted with hostility to the horrors
Leper lost his mind when he saw it
Brinker lived in quiet resentment against it
Quackenbush lashed out in attack
I built up unnecessary defenses
Only Finny didn’t
He rose above
With affection and love
The rest built up Maginot lines
Against enemies in their minds
Who never attacked in the way that they thought
If they ever really existed at all
We, as a society, take a great fall
Fighting enemies that never existed at all
HE stands there, still touching the tree. Lights dim.
THE END

okay so in honor of pride month, i have something i wanna get off my chest for real. sorry if this is super long
I have a tendency to go outside of tumblr spaces when looking at glee content — something i frequently regret. but in my time in those spaces, i often the most delusional take ever. it is basically, “kurt was always kinda pushy towards finn. so did he actually DESERVE to be called a slur??? 🤔🤔🤔 let’s discuss.” this shit boils my blood to no end and while it’s obvious why, i feel the incessant need to defend my boy kurt at all costs.
for one, he wasn’t any more pushy than any other character in the show. i mean for god’s sake, rachel quite literally THREW herself at finn as early as the first episode and i guess that’s fine??? what kurt did was virtually no different bc all the characters do weird, out of pocket shit throughout the show. it really only bothered finn bc kurt is a boy and finn is OVERLY bothered by the prospect of a boy having a crush on him. (more specifically that its kurt — he just simply dislikes kurt being attracted potentially straight guys. thats why he took so much issue to kurt singing with sam. it’s always been about his personal issues with kurt)
moving on to the actual scene in question, so much of what flop accused kurt of was grossly unfair to him. like he says something along the lines of “im scared to even take a shower when youre around,” implying that kurt is some ‘predatory gay’. which is ironic, bc we learn from kurt himself that he never showered after gym JUST to avoid be labelled as something like that. at no point did kurt’s advances move towards remotely ANYTHING sexual in nature, finn just instead assumed that of him
finally, i do believe that flop WANTED to call kurt a slur. he knew that kurt wouldnt call him out for it and you can tell from his tone that that had been building up inside of him for awhile. he wanted something that would push kurt away/scare him. he just went for the cruelest method possible in the moment.
so all this was to basically say that flop hudson sucks and that kurt did not deserve any of the shit that he endured. he was pretty much taught by his peers that it is inappropriate and unacceptable for him to have the same wants and desires that literally any teenager would have simply bc he was gay.
thank you for tuning into my rant. this has been stewing for awhile lmao
lmao yesterday i saw a gifset where cory as finn was doing some good fun acting and i stared at him for like a minute going "if i focus on the cory of it all, can i trick myself into liking finn even a little bit?"
the answer was already no, but if it hadn't been, this ask wouldve set me straight. thank you <3
i've definitely talked about that before tho bc omg. finn has the nerve to call anyone else pushy. i know its not like it'd happened in the show already but. this is the boy setting up a whole kissing booth to manipulate quinn into kissing him aksljfsdlk. or the way he got drunk at the wedding reception in s4 and was hounding rachel. that literally gives me the heebie jeebies lmao sorry to be dramatic about it but i hate it
and god yeah it just breaks my heart bc we know that kurt is always walking on eggshells around these people anyway. and literally 2x04 has become one of my least favorite episodes bc of how hard it is to watch as a kurt stan lmao. sorry it has like two iconic songs but finchel are so fucking manipulative and awful and i've had several rants about this episode before aljsfdlks but basically boils down to them literally making kurt feel like he's committing a crime by asking sam to sing a duet with him and isolating him to an unhealthy degree
and then wanna act all :O four eps later when kurt is like "im getting tf out of here to go to school with people who are nice to me" aslkfdslfjsd
anyway literally just search "2x04 anti finn" on my blog and you will find more posts than you would ever care to read lmao
