Hmmmh hmmm hmmm, I’m wondering to myself as I keep watching One Piece… where would Mika fit into the One Piece Universe as far as abilities go because if Mika is on the Straw Hats pirates, because he’s with Chopper consistently. I always think of them as the ‘botanist’ or the ‘herb gatherer’ who is their ‘support’ like Usopp and Nico. Because I get they all can fight in their own way, but I’m thinking of Mika who can use a no-staff that was made from the wood of his mentor on the ship that Mika at first had been apart of, (so they essentially mutinied) because of their treatment on the ship by the other crew, but, Mika begged Luffy for a chance to prove themselves as they wanted to show they can be useful and that they can be a good pirate. (Ofc Luffy being Luffy accepted immediately) though it took a while for the rest of the straw hats to really accept Mika. Usopp and Mika got along really well since they’re the ‘weakest’ j suppose.
Though I wanna put Mika in the timeline before timeskip so; he was the last strawhat after brook to join, so; I’m thinking atm they met on Sabody where Luffy at some point had a quarrel with some other pirates during their stay which is the pirates that Mika had joined up at and of course; was whisked away by Kuma. (Idk if this counts as spoilers although the sabody arc was in like 2008 I think ajdjfjjff ) anyway, Mika met Luffy during the Sabody arc and thusly got to know their crew mates a bit. And tbh he took a lot of liking to Brook, Chopper and Usopp. Mika looked at nornal as Usopp. A human.
But; during the final sequence, it took Mika a while what Luffy meant in the newspaper after the ‘3D 2Y’ thing. I am not sure where exactly Mika got swiped off to, but I’ll come up with something. Maybe somewhere that had been forested as well. Kind of like Usopp. I’m thinking he got sent to a island where it’s got trees that are alive and he had to battle them so he got different wood attachments to his Bo-staff through different sharp woods and materials. Maybe I’m thinking that Mika got augments inside of his Bo-staff that allowed them extra range?

People hating evil characters is weird to me. I guess the only characters I actually hate are annoying ones cause usually that’s not a point of their character in the story, they just happen to be infuriating. Like Slade being a bad guy is cause he’s a bad guy, that’s like his whole point as a character. Yeah he can be nuanced and worse at times but he exists to be an antagonist. It completely makes sense to me that the Tara thing makes people uncomfortable but he’s still a fictional antagonist, it’s not really a moral failing on the part of the creators.
Tbh if you've experienced these characters in any way (read TJC or watched the more recent animated movie or read Deathstroke 2016 or watched Teen Titans 2003, or whatever else features their interaction) and you don't like Slade, that's fair enough.
Loving and hating characters (and every other emotion) happens all the time and it's part of the experience. HOWEVER, I do take issues when it's people who do not know the character, who have barely ever seen them and just heard "stuff" from other fandom people, who go on crusades against said character because "they did bad stuff".
You see it in people who hate Tarantula "because she raped Dick" and they have not read one single comic in which she appears - they have no idea what she even looks like or what's her real name, but they "hate her" because they read a post in which the sexual assault was mentioned and since she "did a bad thing" they "hate her now". This has to be the most shallow fucking thing, but it's convenient because if you hate on the "bad guy" it must mean you're morally pure and upstanding and you're one of the good ones.
Back to your point, hating on a character without any kind of reasoning or nuance only because they did "bad things" is the death of critical thinking. But people out there act like characters who do shit that's even vaguely considered unethical or morally reprehensible irl need to be hated, and like their existence is some sort of moral failing from the writer's part, and it's so fucking annoying and childish.
Which leads me to my second point which is a tad more controversial, but hey I'm a bitch with insufferable opinions so here we go I guess.
I'm bothered by people who pick a character and use them as their scapegoat, and I mean collectively as a fandom. It kind of is the case with Slade but he isn't the perfect example, however the principle is the same: hating on the villain, especially when the villain is very human and makes very human mistakes, using them as the only person who is capable of doing evil and therefore acquitting every other character of anything they ever did.
With Slade it becomes that Slade is the only bad guy of his story, who hurt Grant and hurt Adeline and hurt Joseph and raped Tara and killed and maimed and tortured, and therefore Grant has no blame in what he did to himself, and Adeline is just a poor innocent woman who was hurt by her unfaithful husband, and Joey did nothing wrong and everything that happened to him is solely Slade's fault, and Tara wasn't already a mercenary hitwoman for hire who lied and cheated and killed - rather she was just a poor innocent girl who was manipulated and corrupted by the Big Bad Guy.
I don't know if you see what I mean with this, but it's very much a thing in a lot of fandoms, especially when it comes to horror media where there is a cast of controversial, "imperfect" characters. One example of this is Mouthwashing, in which (spoilers ahead of course) there is a cast composed of people who range from being downright horrible to having very human but very noticeable flaws - every single one of them is "guilty" of something, and the protagonist in particular is also the one with the most prominent antisocial behaviors. But he's not benefiting from them - Jimmy isn't someone whose life is made better by his piece of shit behavior, rather this is a person with issues and who struggles with mental health (he's suicidal and has very strong delusions), giving him a very hard time keeping his life in order. Which of course doesn't make any of the horrible shit he does less horrible, but I think it's interesting how he's (mostly) not acting out of convenience, rather he's acting out his own demons. And what the fandom did was deciding that this guy is the only one to blame, and that his shitty behavior absolves everyone else of their sins. He's effectively the scapegoat and everyone else - it doesn't matter if they act selfishly, childishly, violently, cowardly or anything really - is guileless and has never done anything wrong in their lives. Jimmy is the only one who's to blame, and the rest of the cast is made of pure perfect angels.
I've seen this happen in many many cases. And it sort of turns into a mob of people whose only fandom personality is to hate on this one guy and gather Upstanding Morality Points, and of course the natural consequence of this is bothering or even outright harassing people who instead are fans of such flawed characters.
I hate it. I'm not saying anyone should have to like a character in particular, but the way people hate on the "easy to hate" guy instead of trying to understand them, especially when it's a complex character whose action make them suffer as much as the people they're hurting, distances me from fandom spaces. People will see a feral beast of a character with their leg caught in a bear trap hissing and growling while in the process of chewing their own limb off, and will toss stones at them and call them disgusting and weird. It's so unkind and I hate it so much.
#sorry for the wall of text#I'm probably gonna get people in my ask inbox going like YOU CAN'T TELL PEOPLE THEY CAN'T HATE X CHARACTER#because this is the reading comprehension level on the pissing on the poor website#but anyway#my asks

I need to ask from morbid curiosity mostly. I have heard of diabolic lovers mostly from top 10 unfortunately not good ones. What are your unadulterated thoughts on the brothers?
I have talked individually of Subaru and Reiji, and there is a post where i Say which Diaboy i HATE the most, but i Guess is therapeutic talk shit about them all :)
in order from oldest to youngest, not in order from worst to """best"""
Carla to me is practically a P3d0, and it's worse if we consider that canonically she likes Yui to call her "Onichan"🤮 and he's such a son of a bitch, he tortured her SO MUCH (along with Shin) that it made her think about COMMITTING SUICIDE. a scourge
Shin is the definition of Carla's lapdog, and since he has the power he feels comfortable mistreating everyone (but if they were stronger? He comes out with his tail between his legs) GOD THE SCENE WHERE HE MAKES YUI LICK HIS OWN BOOTS. just as bad as his brother. Only he's not a fetishist.
Shu just seems boring and bland to me, I'm sorry I can't say much about a character who literally does NOTHING. Her background is fine, but I think she was very wasted on a character in a bad story.
Reiji IS A SON OF A BITCH, he not only decided to kill his brother's friend BUT THE ENTIRE VILLAGE, OUT OF JEALOUSY, and on top of that kill his mother who wasn't even abusive (compared to the other two, she was quite loving). honestly an idiot.
Ayato is unbearable, I just can't stand him, he acts like a little child. apart from the fact that he is the one who objectifies Yui the most and who insults her the most along with Kou. without forgetting that he is considered the "hero" of the franchise😑
Kanato is all of the above combined in an amorphous and delusional mass in believing that he is the victim and that he is right in everything, being also a necrophiliac and cannibal, there is no need for me to say more.
Laito is, sadly, one of the best written in the entire franchise but at the same time he is a FIRST DAMN, he was the first to cause Yui's suicidal ideas, apart from the fact that HE IS a sex offender who should stay away from people .
Subaru is a hothead who gives me certain Incel vibes, he believes that all women are equal and that gives him the right to treat everyone like shit and be physically violent. Even if he has the most "justified" trauma next to Laito, it doesn't make him any less of a horrible person.
Ruki is simply a control freak who, since he is now a vampire, believes he is above everyone else and is honestly a second Reiji but with a cheap background. but he has my eternal hatred for the cat.
Yuma just doesn't catch my attention beyond his design and being just as aggressive as Subaru, he has literally beaten Yui to death in almost all of her endings. I don't like.
Kou is INSUFFERABLE and eager, not only for being so materialistic but for the way he messes with Yui's self-esteem makes my heart bleed.
Azusa is a MANIPULATOR, no matter who it hurts, he literally Guilt Trips Yui to make her hurt him! and then he cuts her! He might be the "Best" but he is still trash.
Kino is similar to Kanato in that he is spoiled and a horrible being at the same time, he has no consideration for those other than him and that makes him DESPICABLE ON HIS ROUTE, he literally killed a child in front of Yui so that he would not try to escape . it's bullshit.
Overall, I think that would be it. They're all trash, but different trash.
____

Round 1
Propaganda why Oscar is insufferable:
"“I want to be famous!” Ok, what for? “Whatever means I don’t have to work.”"
"Selfish, shallow, vain, materialistic, reckless, irresponsible, etc. Doesn't even have an aesthetically pleasing design, he's horrible to look at (like every other character in the movie tbf) so bro has literally 0 redeeming qualities. That one shrimp with the ridiculous sob story should have been the protag instead"
"His entire personality revolves around being shallow and selfish, to the point he sees no issue with lying for his own material gain, in the process shamelessly screwing over his best friend/future girlfriend -- she gave him her grandmother's valuable precious pearl to pay off his debts and get out of trouble, because she cares about him, and instead he fucking gambled it all on a horse race on impulse because he overheard some rando saying the race was rigged and guaranteed to win (surprise, it wasn't). Never really faces appropriate consequences for any of his actions. Gets an undeserved happy ending to top it all off, when really he deserves to suffer a little and learn a lesson.
Also has one of the ugliest anthro-animal designs I've ever seen so he's insufferable to even LOOK at, jesus christ."
Propaganda why Brambleclaw is insufferable:
"(Limiting my critiques to the books he is a point-of-view in, but you should know there's so much more besides this lmao.) He and his brother Hawkfrost train in Cat Hell with the ghost of their dead supervillain father every night, and he knows it's wrong, but he lies to his love interest Squirrelflight and everyone else about it, even directly acknowledging multiple times that he can't let Squirrelflight find out because she wouldn't want to be close with him if she knew. Despite that, the narrative never calls out how wrong that is, and he never comes clean about it. In fact, he gaslights Squirrelflight in the most literal sense of the term: she correctly suspects Hawkfrost is evil based on his actions, and Brambleclaw, despite knowing Hawkfrost is indeed evil, accuses her of hating him just based on his parentage (you know, the same evil parent he spends every night secretly chumming it up with) making her out to be unreasonable even though he KNOWS she's right. Hawkfrost eventually semi-kills Squirrelflight's father, and Brambleclaw kills Hawkfrost in retaliation, but he STILL does not apologize for his own actions or admit his own involvement, let alone face consequences, EVER. The narrative actually REWARDS him with the exact same position of power he had been wanting for several books and colluding with Hawkfrost and Evil Dad to get. This is only made worse later on when Brambleclaw spends a whole book stewing over how Squirrelflight lied to him (about something objectively less bad, that their children were secretly adopted rather than biologically theirs, which she was still punished for severely) and flirting with another female character who was introduced exclusively for that book to make Squirrelflight jealous. Said character leaves forever at the end of the book and Brambleclaw gets back together with Squirrelflight and says he forgives her... still no mention of how he screwed her over far worse and never admitted to it, let alone apologized for it. Fuck this guy, if he were a human he'd probably make Facebook boomer memes about marriage being a ball-and-chain and women being crazy nags."
"Brambleclaw is $h!tty towards his girlfriend Squirrelflight because she believes that his half-brother, Hawkfrost, isn’t a good cat even though she’s right about that and Brambleclaw went against his character development of wanting to be nothing like his murderous father, Tigerstar, by training with him along with his half-brother in kitty cat hell."
"He's rude and whiny, his first book as a protagonist has him trying to train the she-cat that would become his wife in fighting and he just doesn't have a single nice thing to say about her. He's the narratives specialest little boy and from what ive seen almost everyone in the WC fandom hates that guy."
"basically the authors forgot everything that was previously established about him except for "his father was the previous bad guy", so he goes from "i will never be like my father" to "maybe the racist fascist dictator who abandoned half his kids wasn't so bad after all". and then there's his relationship with Squirrelflight, which i'm sure other submitters have gone in detail about..."

Worm Ask:
Perdition and the Yangban, what are your thoughts?
well obviously the yangban is ridiculously sinophobic. i was adding Wildbow Moment points to the Wildbow Moment Counter more or less every time they were mentioned. so so visibly written by a guy whose only perception of china is that it's an Evil Regimented Communist Cult Country Comprised Entirely Of Bad Stupid Brainwashed People With No Individuality (Unlike Us Special Americans). will never be over how funny and ridiculous it is when the characters in the story outright acknowledge that the yangban were literally right abt the PRT sucking but this doesn't change anything abt their opinions on the yangban because [taylor voice] whereas the PRT is simply a flawed system that could've been freed of its corruption and fixed the yangban is just like. inherently evil and fucked up by dint of being chinese.
anyway. perdition is fucking hilarious. like he sucks. he's fucking insufferable. he plays LoL. it's so funny how he's there during the travelers' arc and it's all like "huh i wonder what happened 2 him/when he'll show back up since he's not with the main team in the present day?" and then he still doesn't show up for like 7 more arcs and when he Does finally appear literally all he does is be annoying and misogynist, fuck everything up, and then fuck off into the distance never to be seen again. accord fucking sold him to one direction. it's so funny. he sucks and his life sucks.
that said. i also genuinely love his sole appearance. because despite the fact that i had to read wildbow's terrible sinophobic opinions about china during it, and despite the fact that he's a clown, he's a fantastic little feature for the simurgh. i love the detail that he'd been hearing the simurgh screaming in his head for months and months on end without realizing, that he only notices the noise once it cuts out after he's done something terrible and unfixable, and he's left with the horrible silence as he finally processes out what she made him do. the simurgh is such an incredibly cool concept bc like. as taylor puts it. you win the battle but lose the war with her. society plays all these charades about trying to stop her or minimize her damage, but none of them work. the madison quarantine zone doesn't stop noelle from happening, and it's still in place long after she's already died, with all of the people the simurgh had no plans for still trapped inside. the madison quarantine zone doesn't stop perdition from being turned into one long rube-goldberg machine of tragedy, where he ends up in just the right place at just the right time to make an already bad endbringer fight that much worse, and he suffers all the way through it. and nobody ever realizes! nobody will ever know that he did that solely because the simurgh got to him. it's such a perfectly unsettling example of how there's nothing anyone can actually do against the simurgh, because she's going to keep getting shots against humanity in ways no one will even notice. everyone is so so paranoid about her and they never even notice the knives she's stuck in their backs. i've never seen this movie before so if this simile doesn't work just smile and nod anyway but she's like if the experience of watching It Follows was a kaiju. it rocks. perdition's interlude sucks overall but that one part is such a special little fucked up look into exactly why the simurgh is terrifying. did i mention i love the simurgh.

"Vulcan!" review
A novel by Kathleen Sky, from 1978. This one was bad, bad, BAD. I'd say it's the worst I've read so far, and I really hope it doesn't get any worse than this. The characters, in particular Spock and McCoy, are sometimes unrecognizable, the barebones plot barely makes any sense, and the (self-insert?) character is really unlikable. At least it's short, so through sheer masochism willpower, I got to read it in record time, to forget it as soon as possible.
Spoilers under the cut:
The Romulan border is shifting, since the magnetic fields that determine the Neutral Zone are being affected by ion storms. Soon, the system of the planet Arachnae will fall under Romulan territory. I mean, it will be rightfully Romulan, simply because of the shifting nature of borders as they're defined. Is Starfleet going to accept this, just as the Romulans would have to accept a natural expansion of the Federation, if it came to happen? Nah! Prime Directive be damned! They send the Enterprise to investigate if there's intelligent life in Arachnae that may be worth to keep in the Federation. (And if there is, then what? Do they start a war? On what basis? Whatever.)
In order to determine if the Arachnae inhabitants (some sort of giant ants) are intelligent or not, they need the help of Dr. Mary Sue Katalya Tremain. A biologist who is so, so brilliant, that Starfleet invented new medals just for her, and whose intelligence surpasses even Spock's. As soon as they learn she's coming aboard, Spock and McCoy start competing for her affection (yes, Spock too) by filling her cabin with gifts and flowers and whatnot. But when she beams aboard, it turns out that Dr. Tremain is actually an insufferable bigot who hates Vulcans, and can't even work with them. She's also a major crybaby that resorts to faking hysteria whenever she can't get her way. One has to wonder why Starfleet even allows such a person to be part of its ranks (well, maybe the fact that she's sleeping with a Commodore explains why). We don't see much of her legendary brilliance either, but we learn that she has big boobs. And yes, this book was written by a woman. Obnoxious as she is, she's still a Mary Sue. So everyone has to turn a blind eye to behaviors that would be otherwise unacceptable, and make sure the little princess is comfortable. After all, there must be some good reason for this woman's bigotry (there isn't, but whatever), since she's too wonderful to simply being an asshole. McCoy gets into full "I'm a lover, not a doctor" mode right after seeing her. And five minutes later, he's hitting hard on her, though he seems more of a lecherous creep, rather than a charming, southern gentleman. Ah, yes, he helps her unpack her things, which gives him a chance to paw the sexy lingerie inside the luggage (didn't you know? sexy lingerie is fundamental when going to explore a giant ant planet).
The first half of the book is just a really boring Freudian psychoanalysis of Tremain, only to determine again that, yes, she hates Vulcans, for some undisclosed reason. Meanwhile, McCoy can't decide whether he wants to be professional or horny. He switches back and forth more times than I cared to count. Two days later, he's fallen completely in love with this horrible person who mistreats one of his best friends. Anyway, Tremain friend-zones him soon, so he gets nothing but a little kiss on the forehead. Not that I felt bad about him; McCoy is an asshole in this book.
The second half of the novel gets a bit better, as Spock and Tremain beam down to the planet to meet the Arachneans. McCoy misses the beam down because he was busy chasing after some alien cat in the veterinary section. Yes, the horniness made him stupid or something. So when the giant ants attack the landing party, a lot of people die, and they don't even have a doctor. Kirk can't beam them up because Romulans have appeared to claim the planet, and he can't lower the shields. And that's what Kirk does for the rest of the novel: absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, Tremain and Spock have to work together in order to survive, so she's marginally more professional now. It's Spock's turn to be stupid, though, as he starts to make lewd comments about her, and spying her while she undresses. The reason being!? I don't know, something about proving she hates Vulcans (yeah, I knew that already).
In the end, Spock is attacked by the poisonous ants. And he mind-melds with one, to discover they're not, in fact, intelligent, so it's okay to leave the planet to the Romulans. The mind-meld, however, leaves him insane, and believing he's one of the ants. To restore his sanity, Tremain has to mind-meld with Spock, which is probably the best scene in the book. Then, while exploring her subconscious, it's finally revealed why she hates Vulcans so much. The reason is... she felt an unrequited love for her former Vulcan captain (gasp! I wasn't expecting something like that, no, not at all). Kirk finally decides to do something, and lowers the shields to beam them up, before Spock dies of poisoning, Romulans or not withstanding. He could have done so hours ago, though, before so many people died. Sigh...
Spirk Meter: 2/10*. Kirk stands firmly on Spock's side against Tremain's bigotry, and he's the only one who doesn't tolerate any of her bullshit, just like Chapel (you know, the two persons who love Spock the most). There's also a line about McCoy liking Spock, but not in the same way that Kirk likes him. Though, on the other hand, Kirk's very stubborn about following Starfleet's orders, even if it costs Spock his life, so I don't know... Characterization is hardly coherent.
There may be some Spones too. Tremain says that she can't really love McCoy, because she doesn't feel for him all the things that McCoy feels for Spock, which in her opinion, is love (she's quick to clarify it's not the same kind of love, but still...). McCoy also becomes quite hysterical when Spock's dying on the planet, while Kirk keeps calm. Apart from this, Tremain (who hates Vulcans because of an unrequited crush on one) functions as some sort of placeholder for McCoy himself. It's insisted upon how alike they are, and how they share the same hobbies. Spock calls her "Doctor" all the time, and his banter with her reminds a lot to that with McCoy. In fact, when Spock is being a perv towards Tremain to anger her, he compares his enjoyment of it to the one he gets from riling McCoy. It's rather telling how the author is taking everything from Spock and McCoy's dynamic, while using a woman substitute as a no-homo screen.
*A 10 in this scale is the most obvious spirk moments in TOS. Think of the back massage, "You make me believe in miracles", or "Amok Time" for example.

10 of my possibly unpopular TVDU opinions…
But this was really interesting to write and I would love you hear you guys's thoughts!
-S
+600ish words.
CW/TW: Creepy people, racism, mistreatment of actors, my opinions.
I don’t want to say people's real names in this post because I don’t know them personally and I don’t want to get in trouble and to put it clearly: THESE ARE MY OPINIONS AND YOU CAN HAVE DIFFERENT ONES AND THAT’S OKAY!
Elena for the most part, is a victim of her circumstances. She is a bit annoying but for most of the show she is a teen who has lost a lot of her family. But I completely understand that fans don’t like her because when I was watching the show for the first time, I didn’t like her either (and I still really don’t).
I don’t love Kol like a lot of the fandom does. It’s mostly because his actor doesn’t seem like a good person and I cannot really separate the character from the actor. Also, I find Kol a bit too whiny for my liking, but I get why people like him so much.
Alaric is creepy and becomes a worse person the longer he is on screen. Especially when Caroline was having the twins and that whole thing was going on. Also the few first seasons of Legacies that I watched, I found him just insufferable. It doesn’t help that the actor seems to be quite a horrible person in real life.
Stelena is better. I’m in no way a shipper but Stefan and Elena made a better couple (or at least a bit healthier one). I also find Damon really creepy towards the main girls in the first few seasons. Damon was turned when he was 24ish which means that he was basically hitting on 16-17 year-old girls. (Also, he was a dick to Bonnie.)
All of the older vampires are queer in some way. I really believe that especially the Mikaelson siblings are bi/pan/stuff like that, because when you are literally thousand years old, you are fucking everyone regardless of gender.
I hate the last two seasons of the Originals. I feel like Hollow was full of wasted potential and the characters felt really different. It really feels like season five was just for rushing to the end so they could make Legacies, so it felt that nothing meant anything. Also, I really disliked Hope in season 5 which made me not really excited about Legacies.
Also, I hated the ending of the Originals. I understand that we were never getting a happy ending and that’s fine but the ending (and the whole last season) was such a mess. It felt like the writers were just trying to pile as much trauma for Hope as possible.
Season 2 is the best season of TVD and season 3 is the best season of The Originals. You might see something common with these two seasons (Elijah and Klaus) and I will not feel bad about it. Elijah really shines in both of the seasons and in general both of them are really fun.
Legacies ruined the universe for me for a long time. I tried to like the show, I really really tried, but I hated what they did with the universe and for a while I couldn’t enjoy the TVDU at all. Them changing the magic makes me so angry and all these new supernatural creatures just popping up every episode got me so confused and lost with the style of the show. I stopped watching after two-ish seasons and what I have read about the show later on, it didn’t seem great.
This isn’t really unpopular but the mistreatment of people of color off and on screen is insane. But it's good that a lot of the fandom sees that and calls out the problematic behavior that the creators have shown. Some of the choices made by the creators are awful and I hope the people affected by those decisions have been able to heal.

Roasted Chicken
WARMING: Strong language,Transphobia, Fatshaming,. Tamiko (Eiko's mother) suck as a character, she is going to say mean and hurtful things to Ibiki and Eiko with a smile. Beware of her ableism and how fatphobic she is too, also not to mention how Shun Ibiki's mother) disrespectes him by missgendering him and treating him as if he were sick. This two characters are horrible and I am thinking of her horrible ending but first, we need to hate them more.
So... Beware hurtful commentarias are going to be said and insinuations to sex too.
WORDS: 1,707
Sorry for the cuality and if you do not like it too.
The clock ticked on the wall, two more minutes and his shift was over. He checked his notes on the desk, another day of hard-work done. He sighted and started to pull his jacket on and adjust his bandana, the scars still hurt him a lot. He wanted to scratch it so badly, but knew that if he did it, it would be worse. He tied up his desk, glanced at the chief’s table, his insufferable mother looking at him with needles for eyes. He did not care about those, he had long overcome his fear of needles, suffering, pain, fire, water, rats… he was fearless. -Amhya - said his mother, calling him by his dead name, something that he had got used to but she did not get used to his selective deafness. Usually, only towards her. - Amhya - said the chief once more, he could see how his peers were looking at him, with pity. He hated those eyes, so he took his backpack and hovered it over his shoulder. - Good afternoon - said to his peer Hayato. He nodded - She is calling you - muttered in a soft voice. Ibiki just needed to give him a subtle glance - Ibiki she would be even madder - The man kept silent looking at him - I have not heard my name been named - said in a monotonous tone. His peer sighted - She would be worse - Ibiki just raised an eyebrow. He left his job one minute later than he was supposed to.
He reached the apartment complex that he rented with her. He glanced up and he could see her silhouette in the kitchen. The lights were on and she seemed to be working there, maybe preparing some dinner. He looked at his watch, he had time to have a shower and dinner with her. He started to go up. It was a small flat, perfect for both of them, one bedroom was enough and the tiny living room and kitchen perfect for a single couple. Although he disliked how low the ceiling was, it made him feel like in a cage. He took his keys out and opened the door, the TV was on with some kind of comedy show, he could smell her cooking. She had made some roasted chicken, and there must be buttered potatoes with veggies. “Is that cake?” said Ibiki while glancing at an almost circular cake that was cooling in the small counter. Eiko took the potatoes out of the oven with her mittens and smiled at him “It is a cake. I tried to make carrot cake but…” she looked at the cake “ I did not butter the mold as good as I should have. Sorry it looks horrible” Ibiki left the backpack near the entrance and approached the cake. “¡Hey!” She slapped his hand “Let the dessert alone” He did not move the hand for its place and grabbed a piece of cake. Using his strong fingers to dig out the mixture and tasting it. He liked his fingers without taking his eyes off her. “Well...how is it?” He answered by taking another bite of the cake “It looks ugly as hell, but it tastes delicious” She let a small smile show, he knew what he had done, he actually enjoyed that game a lot. She rested her face on her hand and looked at him “Are we talking about the cake or about you?” He gave her a faint smile “None, I was talking about your cunt, looks like an old woman’s” She got closer to him “At least mine is alive, for the smell of yours it has been long dead and rotten” She smiled thinking that she won. He went closer to her and hugged her from behind “But I eat fresh food, you…” he got closer to her ear “eat rotten pussy” She sighted “I win “ he said biting her ear a little “Nope, your pussy is dead, you have a dead kitty in your legs. I wouldn’t call that a win situation” He scoffed and bit her neck, she knew at that moment that he was mad. A loud knock on the door startled her, he grunted in her neck “There’s no one home” A knock in the window “Eiko darling!” Ibiki raised his head, Eiko went paler and froze in his arms. He could feel how her warmth left her body. He kissed her at the top of his head and went to the door, the high pitched female voice kept talking “C’mon Eiko darling! Don’t do this to your mamma! I just came to say hi to my sweet little doll! Open the …Oh well hello handsome” She changed her voice to a flirtier one. But immediately her tone changed, she couldn’t take the disgust out of her voice, she had clearly seen the scars on his face “Oh… you must be the charity work” Eiko’s footsteps went to the door. Before she could even reply nor Ibiki the woman burst through the door and hugged her “Oh my dear child, sweet Shun was right that I will find you here!” Ibiki glanced at the woman who invaded his nest, she pronounced a name forbidden at that house, his mother’s. “I was like I definitely needed to see you.How long has it been since you left home?”
“A year and a half…” Eiko answered in a monotonous voice, lifeless
“Oh you see dear you also miss me sweetheart! Shun gave me this direction” she then hushed her voice, but the size of the apartment and the fact that she did not know how to hush make it clear what she said “She told me that you are like an intern something for someone with a disability, like a helper of some kind” Eiko was voiceless. Ibiki saw that the woman left some bags at the door. She grabbed Eiko’s hand, jewels were shown in that wrinkled and bonny hand “ Oh dear you have put on so much weight dear! Oh! What do I see!” She grabbed her boobs and also looked at her hips. She was touching her like she was some mannequin “Since when do you look so womanly!” she laughed. And make her turn around “Oh! Now you even have a butt, oh dear what happened? You have lost even that mustache and beard of yours” Eiko wanted to punch her. Neglecting that was what happened, years of neglecting led her body to be unshapen, not a woman not a man, and her ovaries hurting like hell. It led to her taking those damn pills because her body did not know which hormones should produce and the quantity, it led to her feeling unwell every time her period came. It led to all those identity crises, to hating her body in the mirror. How many times did she ask for a doctor? How many times her mother’s answer was “You just need some man to woman you up”?
Ibiki had had enough today “Ma’am would you please leave my flat”
The woman glanced at him, scanned him from top to bottom and put on her brightest smile “Sorry dear but I am your carer’s mother. My name is Tamiko, my parents really know how to name me, don't they?” She offered him her hand for a kiss, he did not even bother to leave his eyes out of her face. She gulped saliva, she was feeling uneasy
“Why are you here…mother?” Eiko’s voice was feeble “Oh dear to see you, you know how much I miss you?” She turned her head immediately to her, giving her best shot with her smile. “Eiko my sweet doll” It gave her goosebumps. “Ma’am…”Ibiki touched her shoulder, now she was the one with goosebumps “Would you kindly leave OUR house?” said while pressing her shoulder a little. “I haven’t seen my daughter in years” She glanced at him once more “Oh! I know you! You were the man that helped me with that little incident, didn’t you?”
“Little incident!” Eiko snapped, Ibiki kept his hand on Tamiko’s shoulder pressing her, she tried her hardest not to show the pain that he was making her
“Eiko, your volume. A lady shouldn’t…”
“GET OUT OF OUR HOUSE!” screamed her at the top of her lungs, tears dropping out of her eyes
“Dear that’s no way to…”
“You are not my mother, you never were”
“Oh! So you prefer that the hooker of my sister took care of you. Kids you gave them everything and THIS is how they treat you humiliatingly in front of strangers.”
“GET OUT!”
“Eiko…”
“You fucking put a reward on my head!”
“You missbehaved with…
“He fucking tried to hurt me…HE FUCKING TRIED and yes I would stab him again I would fucking rip every limb of his. I would cut his cock and fucking fuck him with it! He hurt us and you kept protecting him!!”
“Eiko he was just…”
“Ma’am leave our house now….” Ibiki’s deep voice was near her ear, he pressed her shoulder even more and she could not hold the scream of pain. She was covered in sweat and panic and left the house at all four escaping from those mad people. Eiko was trembling, in the living room, Ibiki threw Tamikos bags out of the varanda. The lady was running even leaving her belongings behind. He would not tell Eiko never, that he actually used genjutsu on her, one of his favorites.
He closed the door, Eiko was hovering near a corner crying. Ibiki got closer and kissed her forehead “Let’s have a bath” That bitch of his mother gave directions to that pest. She hugged him and they went to the bathroom, helping each other cleansing themselves and enjoying the hot water of the tub. He made her closer to him, she rested her head in his chest. They remained silent, you could only hear how Ibiki’s fingers toyed with her hair, brushing it and making even more curls on her. She played with his hand giving tiny pinches in his fingers and palm.”You said our” she said in a wisp. He nodded and kept playing with her hair. The chicken went cold.

Animated Atrocities - Trespassers Will Be Persecuted
Show - Kid vs. Kat
Season/Episode - Season 1, Episode 2
Air Date - December 30, 2008
Writer(s) - Michael Lahay
Director(s)/Editor(s) - Rob Boutilier, Josh Mepham, Greg Sullivan, Kenny Park (Storyboard), Jamie Turner (Producer)
Rating - 87/100
Other Note(s) - I Wanna Tell You Not Only I Hate This Episode, But I Also Hate The Whole Show Because Of Too Much Worst Episodes Of This Show, Speaking About This Episode, Mr. Kat and Old Lady Munson are horriblyunlikable in this episode, as Mr. Kat keeps framing Coop by making him cross Old Lady Munson's fence, while Old Lady Munson does nothing but yell at Coop for the things he did not do.Millie is also unlikeable in this episode as she, first of all, told Coop not to "mock" Mr. Kat, even though he clearly deserved it for all of the things he did to Coop. She then just keeps defending Mr. Kat in this episode, just like all of the other episodes. Also, she was about to tell Burt (her and Coop's father by the way) about Coop throwing Mr. Kat to Old Lady Munson's yard, before Mr. Kat eventually freaks out and fights with Coop. Burt sadly, is not much better, as he keeps blaming Coop for all of the things that happened in the entire episode and of course, throws off this excuse "You can't blame Millie's cat for everything, son", though he isn't insufferable compared to the other unlikable characters in this episode. Downright bland and generic title card that just has a sign saying the title of the episode, with some electric wires on top of the fence, hinting at all of the bad things that would happen in this episode, similar to the name of this episode. While Dennis is likable in this episode, he randomly disappears in the second half of the episode as it gets worse and worse by the minute. Burt's animation when he mocked Old Lady Munson looks a lot like a poor attempt at posing a scary roar, which you can see right here.Dreadful Ending: Coop is about to catapult away Mr. Kat to Old Lady Munson's yard, but Mr. Kat breaks free and then catapults Coop away to Old Lady Munson's yard and starts throwing Munson's gnomes at Coop. While Coop caught all of the gnomes, then Old Lady Munson yells at Coop, to the point where Coop gets tied up in the catapult (see the image above), while Mr. Kat enjoys a cup of tea with Millie as he grins. So basically, after all of the horrible things that happened in the entire episode, nothing gets resolved, not ONCE! (albeit the very end where Coop throws another water balloon, but still) And After That, Mr. Kat Wins! And He Gets No Punishment For That! I Was Traumatized Since I Watched That When I Was A Young Child. Does Anyone Watching This Episode Is Traumatized As A Kid Or A Young Child. Why Would The Writers Have Failed Made The Show Good. I Really Don't Wanna Watch This Show Anymore. Lesson Learned: When You Have A Pet, Do Not Throw Anything At Your Neighbor's House.

you will regret this /j
generally my attitude has changed a lot for the way fandom goes about characters i care about (i just don't engage and stay in my lane), but even then i still want to see others create and fill in the gaps in the story, especially of a character like Pharma and hellhole like Delphi, and what still disappoints me is that many people see his manic state and just......... start applying it to him as his personality as-is. i cannot stand his portrayal as being willing partner of tarn, i cannot stand him being portrayed as a self-assured villain when even in text it gets pretty obvious that he really, really wasn't.
the thing with mtmte as a story is that it is interested in telling the reader that nothing is black and white (even though it still fails sometimes imo- including the case with Pharma), and extremes to which the characters personalities are warped by fandom is not Pharma-only issue. It's not even a tf fandom specific issue.
Pharma in no way is a good person. Not in a "evil" way, but in a way that he's not perfect by large margin, and the entire story with Pharma and Delphi was more of a mild horror story to me than anything else. Because we see not just the villain reveal and hint at the actual evil behind it, we see characters we're supposed to like act inappropriately (How Ratchet Got His Hands Back)
Pharma was a victim. Does it make what he did right or excusable? Of course not. But it is a clear decline in his character where he just gets worse as he gets less and less freedom in actions and agency. He's a "control freak". Of course he was going to go nuts.
We have no reason to believe he would've acted any way discriminatory (something i see very often.... take is not as offensive considering ratchets internalized functionistic views but it gets kind of ridiculous sometimes), offensive or somehow belittling people around him. For all we know he was not that different from Ratchet - just more uptight and controlling. There's so much more to be said about what their friendship was. But i swear it was not worth it if Pharma was always an ignorant, insufferable cunt.
Its not even that i dont enjoy jokes and lighthearted treatment of characters wrongs but not when its their entire portrayal and personality.
I'm not going to ask or force people to view him the exact same way i do (it is also pretty much a headcanon! we dont know enough about him prior to the events at delphi or luna 1! im just making my own conclusions!), but i also wish his character was taken more seriously. he's not a murderer for sake of murder, he's a professional who was forced into the lose-lose situation where he made wrong choices. he's not a soldier, or a strategist, he's not particularly smart, he just wanted survival and be able to continue doing his job after having done something so horrible. and after it didnt work out? what else did he have to lose? he continued falling and ratchet didnt help it at all.
genuinely cannot talk about the way pharma is treated by fandom without coming off as fun hating loser but its boiling. its boiling so hard
#id include images and id go into more detail of pharma and tarn relationship but im tired and i dont want to come off too preachy#i hate tarnma with my whole heart theres nothing interesting about it to me.#i tried to look at it from different angles and its just nothing to me. its a captor and captee. its a corruptor and the corrupted#and not in a 'owning it' way. he ruined pharma's life#and im sure he took some sick pleasure in it#because what he was doing was very much within their realm of inflicting horror and dread into their victims#pharma cares for people and he cared for his job.#like idk how to make it clearer that he was very much interested in continuing helping people#from the bit of him helping chromedome to being a donor in a surgery hes conducting to making the plague aid or ambulon wouldnt get#to continuing his research of diseases at luna 1#while hes driven by desire to outdo ratchet i dont think it was his primary concern on delphi or even luna 1#his ego is his biggest enemy

A Brief And Concise Summary Of Is Wrong With The ACOTAR Series
I think we can agree that a lot of ACOTAR is pretty iffy. Consider this a very brief refresher.
What's Wrong With Feyre/Rhysand (juxtaposed against Feyre/Tamlin)
Rhysand drugs and sexually assaults her in Book 1
This is "for her own good". Because he "has no choice". Despite the fact that, from what we know of the plot, Amarantha thinks that Clare Beddor was the one Rhysand was diddling, and is only interested in Feyre because Rhysand, "her" man male, has taken an interest in her.
If we extrapolate from this we can figure that Rhysand is the one directly putting her into danger.
Now, let's be clear: drugging someone is bad. Sexually assaulting someone is bad. One could argue there were extenuating circumstances. But if, in such a situation, what your mind goes to is "I know, I should assault this person... for their safety" I have questions about your moral qualities. There were a million things he could have done. He could have done whatever he did to Clare - that is, remove her ability to feel any pain - easily. He could have helped her escape. Under The Mountain, he - while still there unwillingly - has a lot of power, as Amarantha's side piece. Maybe this would have resulted in him being punished- however, he is hundreds of years old and a badass motherfucker, and she is a nineteen year old human girl.
Now, onto Tamlin. Obviously not a lot of people really ship F/T anymore after ACOMAF, because compared to F/R, it's boring. I read another person's post about it, which was very enlightening: they said that Feyre's personality is essentially a mirror. When she is with Rhysand, she's snarky and malicious- because she is "bouncing off" his energy. When she's with Mor she's super feminist and "in awe of her strength". On the other hand, Tamlin is kind of an empty character. He's a pretty boy with anger issues, which should be more interesting than it is. SJM manages to make him bland. Because Feyre has nothing to bounce off of, (a lot of this is from the person's post), she and Tamlin together is mainly just him introducing her to his world.
What Tamlin Does: prevents a skinny twenty year old from going on dangerous missions with him and combat-trained soldiers, accidentally blows up a room with her in it, and, at the end, prevents her from leaving the house.
This is not a Tamlin apologist post. Obviously it was really fucking gross of him to do that, and their relationship was toxic. However, a lot of his abuse stems from their inability to communicate, as well as own negligence. He does not knowingly and purposefully sexually assault her or rape her mind. And tbh, leaving a girl without combat training at home while he goes on missions with a bunch of muscled sentries is... kind of reasonable?
Again: not a Tamlin apologist post. It was abuse. However, if Rhysand is "allowed" to sexually assault, mind-rape, and drug Feyre "for her own safety", why is Tamlin demonized for preventing her from leaving his mansion "for her own safety"?
Another pertinent point: Rhys is never punished for sexually assaulting her. It is brushed off as part of his "mask" or that his hand was forced. Jesus Christ my dudes, his hand was not forced under her skirt. If he has to maintain his gross rapist abuser tyrant oppressor mask... why? Who did that benefit beside him? None of his actions remotely helped Prythian. They were done solely for his buddies - five people safe in a rich hidden city - and no one else, which is explicitly stated.
Finally, the power dynamic is fucked up. Feyre is less than twenty five years old. Rhysand is 500. There is a tendency in fantasy romance to romanticize a centuries year old man with a young girl, because the man does not show symptoms of age, and so it is easily ignorable. However, can we just briefly acknowledge how fucked up it is? Rhys is over five times older than Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, and other known predators/abusers. She is twenty. That is really fucking gross. She is in a vulnerable position and he takes rampant advantage of that.
If he had wrinkles, liver problems, and erectile dysfunction, more people would acknowledge it.
Let's be clear: I'm not saying writing a book with an uneven power dynamic is automatically bad. For example, in The Locked Tomb series, which is in my opinion THE BEST FANTASY SERIES THAT HAS GRACED THIS EARTH (lol i'm starting fires), one main character Harrowhark Nonagesimus is in a position of power over Gideon Nav, the other main character. However, this is not glossed over or romanticized. Gideon resents Harrow for this- there is a relationship of mutual antagonism, fraught with unwilling familiarity and intimacy from growing up together. They are roughly the same age. While there is a certain power dynamic (in that world, there is a dynamic of necromancer and cavalier, i.e. sorcerer and sword) the "empowered" character (Harrow) emphatically respects her and does not abuse this power, although both would of course deny this, and she does make a show of threatening and being aloof. In short, while Gideon obeys her, Gideon also has power over Harrow, and the idea of what is essentially slavery is not romanticized.
Feyre Doesn't Face Any Consequences For Her Own Actions
Let me present a radical notion: a guy preventing you from leaving his house does not justify completely fucking ruining his country and harming the people inside it.
In other words: Tamlin does not deserve what she did to him.
I know that sounds iffy. We're conditioned to think that if someone is an abuser, then they are the scum of the earth, they deserve to die, torturing/murdering/doing anything to them is completely A-OK. However, here's another radical notion: someone harming you does not justify you doing worse.
Obviously, the effects of psychological abuse can cause you to hurt other people (see: Nesta), but Feyre deliberately and maliciously (oh, God, that insufferable POV of her in Spring Court; she reads like a cartoonish Disney villain) dismantles his country. She uses sexual manipulation (Lucien), torture (causing the sentry to be whipped), and mind-rape (who didn't she do this to? lol).
A summary of the entire first half of ACOWAR: "It smelled like roses. I hated roses. For this capital offense against my olfactory system, Tamlin and the entire Spring Court deserved to burn in hell. I knew exactly what I was doing. I smiled at him sweetly: no longer a doe, but a wolf. He didn't see my fangs.............." *aesthetic noises*
Man. I'm starting to think SJM had a horrible experience at a Bath & Body Works and took it out on the rest of us. Don't do it, Sarah!! I know Pink Chiffon and Triple Berry Martini are way too strong, but don't take it out on an innocent population!!
She steals from Summer Court (there are, yk, other solutions to theft. Like maybe asking politely) and ruins Spring Court. Her boyfriend - yeesh sorry, MATE - does nothing while a dozen Winter Court children are murdered.
Now: moral ambiguity is not automatically bad. Again using The Locked Tomb as an example, in the second book (spoiler alert), Harrowhark has a sort of moral ambiguity. She was raised from the beginning to worship the King Undying as God, and so she obeys him without question. Because of this, she commits a lot of crimes in His name: she "flips" - i.e. kills - the life force of planets, and she plots murder (albeit the murder of someone who tried to kill her first). There is no attempt to justify this. There is also no attempt to paint her as a virtuous and yet also badass Madonna figure. She is desperate, plagued with the "wreck of herself", and the book clearly displays her moral pitfalls. While her POV is of course colored by her mindset, it also is limited by her lack of information, and we as readers can acknowledge that.
BACK TO ACOTAR: Feyre is seen by everyone as gorgeous, formidable, and essentially perfect. Rhys sees her as flawless, "made for him", wonderful, beautiful, blah blah blah. (THEY ARE SO BAD FOR EACH OTHER; THEY EXCUSE AND GLORIFY EACH OTHER'S CRIMES, IT'S SO BAD, GUYYYS). Tamlin is insanely batshit in love with her, or whatever. To the Night Court she's the High Lady. In this way she personifies the Mary Sue character. (Excerpt from the TV Tropes page on Mary Sues: "She's exotically beautiful, often having an unusual hair or eye color, and has a similarly cool and exotic name. She's exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas, and may possess skills that are rare or nonexistent in the canon setting. She also lacks any realistic, or at least story-relevant, character flaws — either that or her "flaws" are obviously meant to be endearing. She has an unusual and dramatic Back Story. The canon protagonists are all overwhelmed with admiration for her beauty, wit, courage and other virtues, and are quick to adopt her as one of their True Companions, even characters who are usually antisocial and untrusting; if any character doesn't love her, that character gets an extremely unsympathetic portrayal." Sound familiar?)
There is the Ourobous scene. And yet, paradoxically, while presented as an acknowledgment of her flaws, it is in fact a rejection of them. She sees her own brutality... and instead of recognizing that she has these deep, deep moral flaws and realizing that she needs to grow and be better, she in fact "accepts" them.
Guys: Self love means: "I'm important to me, so I'm going to get a massage today after work", or "heck, why not splurge on some expensive lotion, you only live once" or "you know what? I had a tough day today. I'm going to get that strawberry cupcake". SELF LOVE DOES NOT MEAN "oh, I accept all the war crimes I have done, I love myself". LOVING YOURSELF DOES NOT MEAN ABSOLVING YOURSELF OF ALL WRONGDOING.
It's this refusal to acknowledge wrongdoing that is so grating about ACOTAR. It's so goddamn one-sided. And you can tell that after Book 1, SJM decided to completely change the trajectory simply because of how jarring Book 2 reads compared to the first one.
Also: Feyre is a very, very young girl (compared to the other ruling fey) who did not know how to read for the majority of her life. She has no experience whatsoever in politics. Her being High Lady is not a win for feminism.
Rhysand: He Sucks
First, he is 500 years old. He should be written as such, not as some 20 year old virile frat boy feminist. Fantasy is all the more compelling for its elements of realism, which is a concept that SJM does not appear to grasp.
Second of all, his morals are absurd. He is written as the Second Coming of Christ, as someone who can do no wrong, ever, and his flaws only serve to make Feyre love him more. Anything shitty he does is written as part of his "mask" and she can See Beneath It and knows that it "hurts" him to maintain this "mask".
Fellas, WHY DOES HE HAVE TO MAINTAIN THIS MASK???? There is no reason for it. If A) he does not give a shit about Court of Nightmares (we'll get back to that), only about Velaris, and B) Velaris is hidden/protected from the world, what is he pretending for?
It would not hurt him politically to be seen as someone who cares about his country.
"Pretending" to be "Amarantha's whore" does not in any way shape or form benefit the macro-world that is Prythian. In Amarantha's name, he commits atrocities. He commits war crimes; he systemically oppresses entire societies. It doesn't even really benefit Velaris, because Velaris is already hidden.
Let me put this in a real-world perspective. This would be like if Donald Trump was suddenly like: "I know I was a shitty president but IT WAS ALL PART OF MY MASK, WHICH WAS TO PROTECT THIS MICROCOSM OF PRIVILEGED PEOPLE THAT I CARE ABOUT". Like: okay? Sorry, or whatever, but I don't actually give a shit. What about the parents of the children who died? What about Clare Beddor? What about the people who were held in slavery, murdered, tortured?
Rhysand: omg it sucks that my cousin Mor was oppressed by this toxic misogynistic culture from the Court of Nightmares.
Also Rhysand: lol whatever, who gives a shit about Court of Nightmares. They all suck. They meanie. Lol what did you say? That there might be other girls just like Mor who are oppressed by this system? Lol whatever. I can't do anything, I gotta maintain my Mask. I gotta sit on this throne and show the entire Court that not respecting women is completely okay.
In summary: by parading Feyre around as his "whore" (!!) he demonstrates by example that it is completely okay for the Court of Nightmares to abuse their women.
A good ruler cares about all his people. Rhysand cares about a tiny tiny fraction of his people: those who were fortunate enough to be born into Velaris.
God, I'm exhausted. Onto Nesta:
The only character who successfully breaks the Mary Sue effect Feyre exerts on her people is Nesta. Her POV for the first half is a joy to read.
Obviously it sucks that Nesta was a huge bitch to Feyre for the beginning of her childhood. However, it was wrong for Rhysand to threaten her- he is a man male with a huge insane amount of power, and it is not okay for him to threaten to bring the brunt of it down on a young girl because she was a bitch to his girlfriend.
I've seen a lot of discourse on the morality of F/R sending her out of Velaris. Here is my two cents:
It was okay for them to cut her off of their money. If they don't want to enable her self-harm, that is their choice. Again, it's their money, even if it wasn't fairly earned (Rhysand born into an enormous fortune).
It was not okay for them to banish her from Velaris with the implication that she was an embarrassment. Let me explain.
If Rhysand and Feyre are talking to her as sister/brother-in-law, then that is that. They have the complete right to express disapproval and try to help. However, they should not be using their royal privilege against her.
If they are talking to her as ruler to subject, then they have the power to banish her from the city. However, a ruler would not give a shit about a random subject getting drunk and having sex. So, they should not be talking her about her problems as a ruler to subject.
I've heard it compared to her being sent to rehab. However, rehab is a system designed to help people with certain problems. It has specialized medical centers and involves therapy. Nesta gets her life threatened multiple times. It is not rehab.
In summary: why did SJM inflict this upon us. Throne of Glass was actually good! GAHHH! After the first few books she completely whipped around and introduced the idea of males and mates and fey and that C is actually A and the quality took a huge nosedive. Sigh.
Final horrible but unmistakable truth: The entire ACOTAR series reads like a bad A/B/O fic. I hate to say it but it's true. We're lucky there were no heat cycles. OH WAIT

Miraculous Ladybug/Monster High Crossover Idea
As a person that grew up with Monster High, I can tell you that I loved it so much. But I definitely prefer the old Monster High to the version from the two most recent movies for it. But I definitely loved the concept of the children of monsters all attending high school away from the “normies.” Aka, regular humans.
Plus, I was inspired by the movie, Freaky Fusion, since it had hints that hybrid monsters were not liked by regular monsters. There was not a lot of that type of discrimination in the movie, so I thought of my idea.
So, when I was thinking of what could be a cool new idea for a Miraculous crossover, Monster High eventually came to mind. Each of the characters could be turned into a monster and their school could be another school for monsters.
Marinette could be the daughter of the White Tiger from Chinese mythology. Since it is said that the tiger is supposed to come when there is peace on earth, Marinette could have the power to spread peace to whoever she touches. Adrien could be a light elf. Since light elves are said to be “fairer than the sun to look at” he could have the power turn into light. Alya could be a blogging ghost that thinks she searches for truth but believes many of the rumors that she hears. She is like Spectra from Monster High. Nino could be Alya’s banshee boyfriend. But Nino would prefer making real music than just using his horrible scream like his ancestors. Chloe could be a mermaid that gains legs when she is dry. She would still have her giant ego since is one of the more “beautiful” monsters.
Some of my original characters will also be included once again. Lyon is a siren that only uses his hypnotic voice only on bullies or to just get people to leave him alone if they are insufferable. Vallia is a butterfly girl since she inherited a long lost trait of their family that descended from Eros and Psyche. Mason is a dragon and ice spirit hybrid, meaning that he looks like a dragon boy but with fire that freezes instead of burns. Apollo is a cupid and naiad hybrid, meaning he can summon wings of water while also being able to create love potion arrows. And Lena is a nymph/centaur hybrid, meaning she is half horse while also having nature powers. Other characters from the show would also be made into Monster High monsters as well. Marc is a satyr that loves to write. Luka is a siren while Juleka is his half sister who is a vampire. Kagami is the daughter of a Valkyrie general. Kim could be the son of a giant that actually has the power to grow or shrink as he sees fit. Nathaniel could be dryad that loves to draw using naturally made materials. Rose is a nymph. And Lila could be a harpy that usually lies and tells people she is an angel.
The main idea that I have is a salt fic that focuses more on Chloe Salt than Lila Salt. I still hate that liar, but I also hate Chloe since she is nothing but a spoiled brat that never faces any consequences for her actions.
So, Chloe believes that she is the queen bee of the school, with her zombie Sabrina minion always doing as Chloe wants no matter what it was. Her father could be the current ruler of a merpeople kingdom outside of Atlantis. So, she believes that she has some form of control over the school. And with the principal, the cowardly owl-man Damocles, and their main teacher, the victim-blaming and bully-coddling air spirit Bustier, both bending to her will, it makes her believe it even more.
Chloe has an extreme hatred of hybrids. She thinks that they are freaks of nature that do not belong in the world. So, when Lyon, Vallia, and their friends join their school, she is furious that they were allowed to attend. Her attitude only gets worse when the boy that she is obsessed with, Adrien, makes friends with them.
Adrien is actually very interested in the new students. He really likes how all of them were a type of hybrid. Even the Greek twins since both had siren and Olympian DNA inside of them even if Lyon was more siren and Vallia was more Olympian. He, Marinette, Alya, and Nino all are good friends with the the hybrids.
But the more that Adrien hangs out with the hybrids, the angrier that Chloe gets and the more she desires to have them out of the school. She tried to just go to the principal and demand that they all are expelled for the simple reason that they are hybrids. But since all of them are protected by the monster council of their home country, all of the still being from Greece, Damocles can not do what Chloe demands for once. And that only makes her want them gone even more.
All of them had already established that as long as she thought herself above everyone else, they would not even give her the time of day. And they had also been helping Adrien stand up to her more. The prime example when he actually yelled at her to stop jumping all over him and grabbing his arms even after all the times that he has told her that he hates it when she does it. And even when she still tries to do it after that, Adrien starts using his power to turn into light to get away from her.
Since the hybrids had arrived, it is made clear how little the other students actually think of Chloe. None of them like her, or are even scared of her since her father has no power over them or any of their monster kinds. Sabrina is the only person that even thinks that she is as great as Chloe brags about being. Chloe is forced to sit alone at lunch, with only Sabrina around, since everyone leaves whatever table she sits at.
And with the hybrids still in contact with their parents back in Greece, they all know about what has been happening at the Paris monster school. So, the Greek monster council starts to get involved. They bring the problem to the French council and they get involved with the school. That takes away Damocles’s power as now the other teachers no longer have to fear getting fired for punishing the mermaid menace. The other teachers start scolding her for her bullying nature while Bustier remains as the only one that still treats Chloe as a misunderstood angel. But that only gets her investigated as well by the council and monster school educational board.
As Chloe starts to get angrier and angrier, she actually goes up to the hybrids when they had been alone and demands that they all leave “by order of the merpeople kingdom.” But that only makes them laugh right in her face and tell her that they know that she does not have any real power in the school or even in her kingdom as well. There happens to be a merman on the French monster council and he goes to Chloe’s kingdom to set the government system there back to normal. Aka, they kick Chloe’s father out of office for abuse of power.
That really set off Chloe into a screaming tantrum saying that they had no right to interfere with “her reign” over the school. She calls them a bunch of anti-hybrid words. The recently hired new principal hears her and she is soon expelled.
Oh well, nobody liked her anyway.
And behind the scenes while Chloe was throwing her many tantrums, Lila was exposed as a harpy and not an angel by the hybrids. Since they were from Greece, they knew a harpy when they saw one. And maybe a hypnotic song by Lyon to force her to tell the truth had also helped. But he would only smirk instead of answering if he was ever asked about it.

Random thoughts about Case 4 of The Great Ace Attorney that I don’t want to put in separate posts
- This case made me quite uncomfortable, both because Barok ramped up his xenophobia and because I’m disgusted by the fact that the game wants to make me laugh twice at the idea of women physically assaulting their husbands with burning books or knifes in an irrational fit of rage. What the fuck.
- seriously, move aside Dr. Hotti and Ben & Trilo, Joan Garrideb is the most insufferable AA character for me. Stop abusing your disabled husband! It’s not quirky or cute!
- As for Barok himself, this is the only time I can remember a prosecutor becomes actually worse in their second case - in Case 3 he does let some “Nipponese” slip from time to time, but it’s in Case 4 that he really shows his contempt and won’t shut up about how backwards and vile the Japanese are (EDIT: however he unambiguously helps the defense at the end of the case, much like Edgeworth in 1-4, so it's not all bad). Most of the prosecutors start showing more vulnerability after their introduction, or they don’t change all that much. In Barok’s case, it makes sense, because Ryuu really left a horrible first impression that sure did not help Barok’s idea that Japanese people are evil traitors. That being said, I really want to slap him across his chiseled cheeks before he starts to become even half as annoying as Mr. “Putrid putrid hell hell” Nahyuta. Stop it dude, I know you’re smarter than this.
- Speaking of Barok being smart, it has only been 2 cases with him (and another 3 to go! He really benefits from being the main prosecutor of a duology), but I can already say, this is the first time I felt like I was facing an actually intelligent opponent ever since Edgeworth and Manfred von Karma way back in AA1.
I’ll cut Simon some slack because I don’t remember a thing about his performance in DD (nothing against Simon himself, I just forgot almost everything about DD), but... Franziska, while definitely smart, broke down more easily than his “little bro”; Godot was also generally smart (see his stunt in Stolen Turnabout and the way he conducts the last part of the Bridge To Turnabout trial), but as a prosecutor he was nothing special because he was an amateur in that specific role and only wanted to face Phoenix for his own reasons; Klavier didn’t have much chance to shine because Apollo wasn’t particularly brilliant in his own debut game; Nahyuta’s strategy boiled down to insulting the defense and I can’t remember any interesting trick up his sleeve; Ga’ran simply flexed her power over the law. Edgeworth, von Karma and Barok are the only ones that made me think “ah shit, he knows what he is doing”.
I like Barok’s strategy of striking only when he feels he can make a decisive attack, which I know will contrast with another, much more aggressive prosecutor later in the second game. I also like seeing him pensive, it’s almost anxiety-inducing - is it because he’s considering Ryuu’s point, or is he waiting to demolish his argument?
As much as he can get insufferable, it’s a joy to face him in court because he’s just that good and genuinely honest in his job. (and funny, I still laugh out loud everytime he Legjects with the same stony expression)
anyway, not a particularly good case, but i wanted to analyze barok before he starts his character development

I'm glad you like it! Uh magical girl dragons was a concept I was thinking of but I feel like you can do so much more with human designs that its like...guess ill make em human,
I like the idea that Qibli is just, there, like he only knows them and isn't really friends with them till after becoming magical girls. I think that's interesting and I think that Qibli has some anxiety about that. Qibli already feels insignificant and not special compared to his peers in the books and I feel like not being friends with them until getting magic powers would heighten that anxiety. Honestly I think Darkstalker has a way easier time manipulating him in this AU. Which, oh no.
Turtle definitely has powers at the start and just doesn't use them, or if he does he hides it really well. Maybe he intervenes because of Anemone? I'll think about how he gets roped into the main cast...
Turtle's fun, he's the character who wants a normal life except he's hurting everyone and himself. I think Winter and him fight a lot and it takes Winter a while to really forgive Turtle and understand his situation. Same with Moon actually, I think Moon also takes a while to really forgive Turtle she's just nicer about it.
I find Winter to be really interesting in this situation and I swear it isn't because I like Winter A Lot (well mostly isn't)
But like, he's the one you'd least expect to be a magical fighter, he's insufferable and rude and everyone around him is 99% sure he thinks he's better than them. Winter can be horrible to people and seemingly arrogant and all that. It's hard to imagine him being a selfless fighter for justice.
But for Magical Girl Winter there's a notable increase in overt kindness and energy. I feel like he still acts like a jerk at times, it's hard to distance that side from him when he intertwined it so much with his self-esteem. I feel like he's rude to the rest of the Jade Winglet when they meet but still helps them fight anyway heh-
But Magical Girl Winter just feels very different from Civilian Winter in a way I find interesting.
Mostly cause Winter gets a secret identity, he doesn't have to worry about how his family sees him because no one knows its him. Sadly though this does not help his self-hatred and lack of self-esteem and acceptance that much. They talk badly about him during family gatherings (without knowing its him) and Winter usually agrees because Yeah he could of done Better and now there are actual lives on the line and Winter could die to save the world and still find something wrong with how he did it.
I think that's why I like the concept of Winter already being a experienced magical girl, a lot of his issues still exist and some are even made worse but Winter is just, way more willing to act in a way that's more true to how he wants to act and I like that.
My point is, is that...Winter is like, the good version of the original Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde where when he goes and does a transformation instead of giving into his worst urges because all his inhibitions are dropped he does the opposite and does Good Things.
Carmaline...ooo I really want to give Carmaline a role but I got no clue for her. Astral projection sounds neat though I'll think about it.
OOO THAT IS A REALLY GOOD IDEA FOR ANEMONE! I like to think she doesn't get powers until she turns evil and doesn't really know about all of this until she meets Darkstalker and gets taken in by him. She redeems herself and gets a proper magical girl companion and costume and what not but before that she's working for Darkstalker.
I like to think the Scavengers are Not Having a Good Time. In a joking sense. They're really tired and have to deal with the problems of these teenagers. Good Luck to them
I'm so sorry but the newest precure came out and Ive been going through my list of magical girl shows I need to watch so im bringing back my magical girl au.
Uh random fun fact this AU is what made me write all my Winter essays which is just kinda funny, anyway.
Scavengers are still the magical companion mascot characters, cause everyone in this au is human cause i can't really imagine a dragon having a magical girl outfit but if anyone wants to draw one I wouldn't mind.
I don't really have any magic power ideas and I don't really want to use the powers each dragon species have so fisticuffs/weapons it is! I also just really enjoy seeing physical hand-to-hand weapon based combat. I like the idea of still having some magic though and @humans-hear-me-roar suggested that Winter got some buffing or healing powers (couldn't find the exact reply where you said that...) which I really like but I'll figure it out-
The transformation tool are just the Arc 2 earrings and and they get a variety of general abilities (durability, speed, all that jazz)
This AU is mainly Jade Winglet focused cause I Like Them and feel like they best fit into a magical girl AU. I think the first few members are Kinkajou, Moon and Qibli, they assemble first and then everyone else follows.
Winter and Turtle I think are a bit after them, both reluctant magical girls but in different ways, with Turtle not wanting to stand out and stay in the shadows where it's safe so he just hides as best as he can and doesn't really involve himself in the fights, and Winter probably Being One but not joining the team because I can't imagine Winter not going out to fight evil to protect people but I can imagine him being really stubborn about joining a team because of all his insecurities and baggage.
I think Peril is a surprise addition to the team, like she's fighting on the other side but then gets redeemed and switches sides midway through the conflict.
I'm, not sure what to do with Carmaline, I'd like to include her but I don't know her well enough, and characters like Anemone who I would like to include I'm not really sure on. They might just stay side characters for this.
I WANT TO GIVE ALL OF THEM CATCHPHRASES AND FUN NAMES FOR MOVES AND STUFF BUT I CANT THINK AHHHHH-

Star Vs: Stump Day Review or The Why Are You Booing Tom He’s Right Holiday Special
Before we start a special credit to @jess-the-vampire who I discussed the episode with during the writing process and brought up a LOT of good points that ended up going into this review. She clearly hates it as much as I do and had even more good reasons for it. Happy Hanukah, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everybody! And today we got a big, fat, grotesque lump of coal to smash to pieces. And after a long, draining, if worth the effort scrooge review, and with this being something I needed to cross off my to do list this holiday season, I put this one here as I could use the cathariss of giving this steaming bowl of elephant piss a good thrashing. As you can tell unlike my usual reviews, I do not like this episode. This isn’t the FIRST i’ve not liked i’ve covered, but it is the first rather infamous one to me i’ve covered and not just a dead possum of an episode I ran into while reguarly covering an otherwise good show like “Quaraller’s Pass” or “Strife of the Party”. This one’s had it coming, making my top 8 worst christmas specials list last year, and while not the series worst outing, that’s a toss up between the finale and marco jr, it’s easily one of them. So while usually I like diving deeply into something good and picking apart while it’s good, if not ignoring any bad aspects, here i’m just going to take a hammer to this thing to explain why it dosen’t work and why it sucks dirty ass in thunderstorms. I might be overstating it a bit but probably not. Nothing really new has happened since the last episode so the only new thing to cover is why i’m doing the episode here instead of after Monster Bash. And the simple reason is that like the Ducktales Halloween and Christmas specials, this episode clearly does not take place in the same time frame of the episode before or after it, with the next episode, The Bog Beast of Bogabah, taking place the day after Monster Bash. It’s most likely they simply held this episode over till Christmas and it dosen’t really fit in AFTER the huge game changer that is monster bash, especailly since the next three episodes after this all take place in rapid sucession, two on the same day one the day after them. So yeah i’m doing this one first and putting it ahead of monster bash on my episode guide for clarity’s sake.
Good, so with all that settled, let’s unwrap this complete works of pauly shore shall we? We open on the titular Stump Day, essentially mewni’s christmas complete with Cocoa, carols and a gay couple and their equally adorable child. And Star, unsuprisingly is giddy for it as the actual chlidren, and wearing an adorable santaesque dress complete with horns on her santa hat. Seriously you cannot tell me tom didn’t get that for her. Fucking precious. Marco is more just confused and has his hood up and one of Star’s cousins asks uncle river to tell him the origin of stump day. River’s response.. is easily the best joke of the episode.
“(in a jolly tone) ha ha, you don’t tell me what to do”
He does so anyway though: Basically when settlers arrived on Mewni they found themselves cold and griping with each other, and soon found a blizzard had struck.. but by huddling together under a magic stump, they all learned to get along or something like that and now once a year everyone gathers in warmth and camraderie.. or else. Before Marco can understandably question what “or else” means in this context, Star butts in when one of her cousins chastises the younger one who asked river the question for beliviing and says he’s real. It’s a nice touch as it fits star perfectly to still belivie in mewni’s horrifying version of santa. I forgot just how adorable and likeable the character was before the final season shot that to hell. How her energy could be infectious and how Eden Sher really brought her all to the performance, which is still the performance of her career and hopefully like Rider Strong she’ll do more voice acting eventually. So that night as Star tucks in after wonderful night of sleep, and to avoid her dad’s usual drunken chorus of Tom Jones “Sex Bomb”, and gets woken up by Marco who leads her to the dining hall because a windows broken to fix it with magic. Star entirely buys this flimsy story.. but as Jess pointed out, and as I missed hence the credit up top... she dosen’t bring her wand. She.. dosen’t bring her wand.. to go fix something with magic. Now i’ll grant next season shows she CAN fully do magic without it, and while not as powerful like her mom still has plenty of punch behind it.. especially when she does the rainbow fist thing. But it’s still.. weird she dosen’t think to grab it and feels out of character. While Star’s learned by this point not to rely on it, and as we’ll see gives it up entirely, one of the few bits of her character development that actually sticks, it still seems resonable she’d take it with her wherever she goes.. and usually SHE DOES. And her jammies, which are also adorable, seem to have pockets so the animators had no reason to not just stuff it in one. It would’ve made their job harder yes.. but then don’t have marco use an excuse that directly requires it then and draws attention to the fact the wand is missing, and the fact you blatantly just hoped we’d forget about it as it’d ruin the climax.
It’s far from the worst thing in this episode..trust me we’re almost there. But this does bring me to a point.. so far the episode is GOOD. The comedy’s good, the setup for what’s about to happen is good, the holdiay setting is warm and inviting but weird enough to perfectly fit mewni, and River, much like his VA and homosexual talking boat portrayer Alan Tudyuk, is a national treasure as always. Whelp it’s all down hill from here bitches! Giddyup.
So Marco announces a SUPRISE PARTY! And everyone’s there: Tom, Kelly, Ponyhead, Starfan14... oh yeah this is the first ep i’ve coverd with Starfan14 isn’t it? Starfan14 is star’s insane fangirl, voiced by series creator Derfron Nercy herself, who star happily tolerates despite clearly wanting to wear her skin. We’ve all been there. Also Jackie is transparently missing, though at least it’s SOMEWHAT reasonable as she and marco broke up a few .. months ago? I mean it is winter on mewni for this episode but the end of season 4 and the series is set at the start of summer, yet months still pass.....
Confusing timeline aside, Jackie has every reason not to attend a party thrown by her ex for the girl who confesed she had feelings for said ex and it’s probably the only good decision Marco makes this entire episode that he wisely decided to give Jackie some space. And it says something a decision made entirely off screen that was probably because the creators genuinely forgot Jackie once she was out of the way so they could shift the love triangle stuff to Tom, Star and Marco instead of you know.. not doing that because most love triangles are annoying at best and utterly insufferable at worst. Case in point this episode but I can give out more about this aspect of things in a bit with more context.
And to his credit, and as Jess backed me up on, Marco’s gesture is genuinely throughtful.. at least to start with. He got her a choclate fountain, brought all of her friends, and geninely just thought Star never celebrated her birthday on her birthday because it was you know the same day as christmas. As someone whose birthday is a week before christmas, December 16th if you were curious, I understand the pain of having your birthday in the same month as christmas. Of having all your presents clustered at once and of having to manuver around a very stressful season, though it does sometimes have perks like getting to celebrate your birthday and christmas, it also means your birthday is secondary and always will be to most people due to proximity. And Star has hers ON mewman christmas, so it’s even worse. So from Marco’s perspective, TO START, his best friend constantly had to share her birthday with her faviorite holiday and just wanted to do something nice. SO FAR, he’s done nothing wrong and just means well. That’s... about to end. Star.. instead of being greatful.. starts muttering no before going on an manic rampage and destroying everything including hte band’s insturments. And apparnetly star’s gotten some flack for her behavior.. but I understand it. To her the stump is VERY real, and will be very angry if someone else celebrates so to her all she’s doing is saving her best friend from the holiday equilvent of the trees from evil dead, and when Marco asks about it she GENUINELY is sorry, getting he meant well, that he was being sweet, and that he did a lot of nice stuff for her.. she just can’t celebrate not because she loves the holiday but because again, from her persepctive, the stump will kill them all if they don’t support it. She is genuinly affraid for her friends lives and given she could go grab her wand and fight it, clearly thinks she, with all her CONSIDERABLE powers, cannot win this, and neither can tom whose powers are almost entirely fire based. Star is just trying to protect her friends from being horribly murdered. And she turns out to be entirely right about it so no, star was not a jerk here. A bit over the top, but she was not insensitive, she was not mean, she just didn’t want a party for understandable reasons.
So let’s get to actually insensitive shall we?! Marco’s reaction to this is at first confusion as he didn’t realize the stump was real, though Tom, Kelly and Pony are convinced it’s not. Also this episode implies Kelly is from mewni, but she turns out not to be so why she knows about the stump I genuinely don’t know. They think it’s just a baby thing.. though in Tom’s defense he dosen’t phrase it that way, thinks star still beliving is cute, which for a teenage boy finding out his girlfriend belivies in santa is very sweet and mature of him, and is trying to be nice about it even if he doesn’t believe. But Marco.. his response to his friend having a good reason for not wanting to have the party.. is to complain about how much effort he put into it and try to guilt and bribe her into having it by mentoining he got her faviorite cake flavor, rainbow. Just.. WOW. I’ve seen some bad turns from characters, but WOWWWWWW. Holy shit.. I mean at least other jerkass marco episodes before this had SOME reasoning to them. Sophmore Slump had him clearly sublimating his feelings for star combined with the usual obnoxiousness of someone having gone abroard for the first time, which as Letterkenny recently went into, the only thing worse is Stillborn Puppies. Nothing else.
youtube
And with Lint Catcher while he was presumptive and not blameless.. river still outright lied to him. Here? It’s clear star dosen’t want this, cake can be refigirated, he only takes a loss on the choclate fountain and he could still just let everyone have some and say it’s for stump day to appease her. He dosen’t have to take a loss on this finacially or morally and there would be no harm done. But that’s.. not what HE wanted, not waht HE set up and he wants what HE wanted, which was to impress star with a thoughtful gesture. But that’s the thing bud: Gestures aren’t about you or what you get. Their about doint something nice for another fucking person. It’s the whole point of christmas and birthdays: To just give someone something to be ncie and to celebrate the day and them respectively. If she dosen’t WANT your gift for understandable reasons and isn’t being rude about it you don’t have any leg to stand on you seflish twatwaffle.
So already Marco is not coming off well.. and if you know this episode you know it gets worse. Oh god it gets worse. So first PONYHEAD of all people calls out Marco.. and for once, PONYHEAD, the most selfish, most unresonable and a character whose tolerablity varies on the episode, tells him he’s being selfish and is only pressing on because of his need to control things. So not only is Ponyhead right but the episode LIKELY wants you to feel she’s wrong because she’s pony which is not how this work as she knows star well and thus, while unaware she still belivied in the stump, which tracks as while it’s obvious she does Pony is so up her own whatever she has that functions as an ass, it’s understandable she’d miss some details. So no Pony’s right, and the fact PONY is one of the more resonable people in this episode is both a sign of the apocalypse, which is thankfully starting to recede, and a clear marker of just how bad Marco’s being if someone who torments him and disagrees with him out of principal is entirely right.
Oh but it gets worse as next up, Tom steps in and tries to get Marco to back out, admitting he told him this was a bad idea. Now granted Tom did mess up by not stepping in to stop this a bit.. but he A) didn’t know how much his girlfriend genuinely belivied in the stump and B) Probably assumed Marco meant well, as would I before he whined about not getting his way, and decided it was worth a try. So he’s not that bad, and while it is a bit ehhh to try and take back credit for this when he participated, it’s still minor and Marco is still being a huge dick who refuses to help shut things down when it’s clear the party is only causing star to have a panic attack and assault some humble marachi players. He sees nothing good is coming from this and just wants what star wants. Also it paints Marco in a worse light as he was warned about this, and was so obssed with making it a suprise party because that’s how his plan went, he refused to just.. talk to her about it. Hell he could’ve just casually asked “Why do you never celebrate your birthday on your birthday”. It’s an easy question, dosen’t give the game away and allows him to gage if this is a good idea or not BEFORE baking a cake , hiring a band and getting a chocolate fountain. Instead he just went ahead with it. And he did so.. because this ISN’T about making Star happy. This is abotu HIM making star happy. Him showing her how thoughtful, and considerate and sweet he is and how he’s always been there for her and how maybe she should be with him instead of Tom. I mean it just comes off that way.. he made it a suprise party because in his head that’s how it worked and she was super impresed and left tom that day to be with him in some elaborate fantasy. Granted the episode dosen’t say this.. but it sure as hell acccidently implies hte hell out of it by having marco act like a selfish ass who refuses to take what STAR wants into consideration, and just wants to get his fantasy back on track. What supports this to me is how he treats tom, you know one of his best friends: He, again, accuses him of forgetting.. then calls him a bad boyfriend.. a bad boyfriend for NOT wanting to force a celebration on his girlfriend she does not want, and for not forcing it on her. For you know GROWING AS A PERSON. Beacuse here’s the pickle pumpernickle: This thing Marco’s doing? Is exactly the kind of thing a pre-character development TOM did, that was rightfully framed as bad. Being controlling, wanting things to go JUST a certain way instead of letting them flow naturally, not getting the hint star isn’t intrested, and not caring about what she wants and only what you want. Marco is doing the same thing Tom used to do. And for starters i’ts already bad because you know MARCO WAS THE ONE WHO FINALLY GOT IT THROUGH TO TOM THAT THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR WAS TOXIC AND SELFISH. But apparently when it’s Marco himself doing it it’s fine. If there was ever any clear evidence Marco regressed as a character, there it is. Him actively unelarning a lesson he taught someone else and then getting combative when that person rightly tries to call him out. Marco is just insufferable in this episode: He’s being selfish, creepy and posseive and he’s apparenlty supposed to, at least on some level BE RIGHT. But.. we will get to that. Consider a pin put in this rant.
So Tom overreacts, and throws some fire at marco, which is genuinely wrong and Kelly’s right to call him out, and then headlocks him asking marco to say he’s a good boyfriend. Marco screams out ‘NEVVVEEEERRRR”
I just made this, by hapinstance, while watching the video I put up there. I.. I did not think i’d get to use this so soon but my god. Just my god that’s a terrible thing to say. So the party soon breaks down elsewhere as Kelly is mad at tom for.. understandable reasons again the guy she has a crush on was just nearly set on fire, even if i’m still on Tom’s side overall here, it’s still not right. Janna points out it’s probably because she has a crush on marco, which while acurate dosen’t mean she was wrong and Tad pops out to be upset about that. Even though you know you two are broken up and as Kelly points out he needs to move out. Pony is mad she’s not getting any attention and Starfan is mad because star’s mad. Star results to desperate measures, opening the windows to try and repeate the act of the settlers. She didn’t however count on the Janna factor as she throws the stump in the fire, which is in chracter. What’s not, and again I give Jess full credit for this one, is that everyone just starts.. warming around the stump and not caring like a bunch of jackasses not caring about their close friend, and in tom’s case, girlfriend’s feelings. Also tom and marco apparently stopped fighting just to be this stupid.
But naturally burning the symbolic stump is a bad idea and the real one attacks. Protip: If you live in a world of magical nonsense, maybe don’t discount the magic stump. Everyone’s captured, including moon and river, with River also being suprised and replying to Star’s annoyance at him not beliving with “Sweetie it’s a stump!”. Alan Tudyk is a god and I feel you all should acknowleddge that. But yeah everything seemsm to be bad but everyone apologizes, if not for the right things in Marco’s case, and Tom says “I’m sorry i’m a bad boyfriend!”. You .. you aren’t. You did nothing wrong. I feel like this is tom for the last agrivating 6 minutes of the episode
He did SOME THINGS wrong but he is NOT a bad boyfriend. He is throughtful, kind and while he has flaws, SO DOES STAR. He is not a bad boyfriend for not wanting to repeat past abusive actions! GAH. Let’s just get on with it. They all hold hands, they thiunk this is what made the stump go away but Star is sure it was just going to kill them, Moon and River have a thousand yard stare as they realize they both have to get repairs for this room now and do an extra big stump day next year to make sure it dosen’t come back. And Marco apologizes to star.. for not beliving her. Not for forcing this on her, not for causing all of this, not at all to tom, but for not beliving her while star FUCKING APOLOGIZES TO HIM. Pin removed, bullshit falling to the floor... Trunks if you would.
Thank you. Star DID NOTHING WRONG. Tom DID LESS WRONG THAN MARCO. WHY ARE THEY APOLOGIZING. Why is this little shithead getting everything he wants as the party happens after all, if a day later, and he gets to dance with star, while everyone else is painted as being in the wrong? That’s what makes this special so putrid: that MARCO is apparently in the right for doing the same , if on a smaller scale, manipulative shit tom used to do before he grew as a person, yet the episode sides with him, props him up and teases Starco. If it’s Starco it’s okay apparently and that’s.. not okay. You can’t .. build a ship on a character acting like a jackass. That’s not how this works. Marco was wrong, he was bad and he should FEEL bad. Instead he’s just a creepy jerk this entire episode, being entitled, manipulating star, screaming at tom.. and gets REWARDED FOR IT. Fuck this episode.
FINAL THOUGHTS: I believe I said Fuck this episode. This is easily one of star vs’ worst episode and much like the season after this episode it gets worse the more you think about it. I put it on my worst holiday episodes list for a reason.. and frankly even with the decent first 4 mintues it should be higher. It’s an unplesant mess that throughly ruins Marco’s character and takes him from a kind, upstanding, polite and bright young man to a creepy manpiulative jackasss. Fuck this episode and have a happy holidays.

Hiya blue lemon it's me again. Do you have any criticism in the way GRRM wrote Sansa in book1/2? EX:.Sansa and Jeyne are BFF but we amolst never see the girls talking to eachother, and when JP is sex traffikced sansa just forget about her(we could have a scene where sansa try to find what happened to JP or at least grieve for her). Every time sansa appears as a non-POV in AGOT she's been mean and whe we have her POV she's mean for no good reason(SANSA III AGOT). >PART 1<
And the worst is why GRRM wrote sansa goin to Cercei to tell her the "Ned Plans", it's just bad writing, Cercei kill lady so Sansa going to her was OOC GRRM just wrote that to we hate Sansa And in the book it's not explained what "the Ned plans" was(And it was nothing imortant at all, and would make no difference at Ned's fate) so ordinary readers blame Sansa for Ned's death and GRRM does that too in book 2 Cercei put all the blame for Ned death in sansa nd "the Ned Plans" Your thoughts?PART 2
There’s a lot to unpack here.
I get a sense that in the early books, George was not as comfortable writing female relationships as he was writing male relationships or even male-female ones. I mean, Catelyn has no female friends, no companions like Margaery Tyrell’s cousins, no fostering wards of her own, no correspondences with other ladies except that one letter from Lysa for plot reasons. This is just weird for the lady of two major houses. It is neglectful on George’s part to give most of the important social connections to men. This doesn’t mean he was totally inept at writing female relationships, though, and it does seem like he’s tried to improve upon highlighting the positive in later books.
By comparison, the positive side of the brotherly relationships are presented so strongly that it tends to smooth over the conflicts with many readers. Jon can feel envious and resentful of Robb, but the love and loyalty is always in the foreground. The conflict between Arya, Jeyne, and Sansa does have legitimate character arc and plot purposes, so this isn’t bad writing. It’s unfortunate that GRRM presses down so hard on the constant bickering and occasional nastiness, but he did write some positives (albeit they tended to be revealed in later books) and there are understandable reasons for the dynamics. It was not done in a totally unrealistic way. What’s depicted is a typical and relatable rocky period for that age group, and there was negative adult influence at play. It’s not a permanent feature of the sisterhood. It’s all there if you pay attention and you’re inclined to be charitable toward the mistakes of young girls.
If a reader is already predisposed to see the bonds between male characters as more pure and more able to overcome the negative aspects, then they probably also view the bonds between female characters as inherently weaker and more fraught with conflict. Fandom misogyny is not GRRM’s fault. That sector of the fandom will always have contempt for girls for being girls, especially preteen girls. They will always hone in on their faults and belittle their virtues.
I don’t think that is true that we hardly ever see Jeyne and Sansa talking. They are nearly always in each other’s company. There was real friendship between Sansa and Jeyne, because what George does do well with them, is realistically write the way girls cement their bonds. Young girls strengthen their relationship by communicating and confiding in each other. Sharing secrets, crushes, hopes, fears, and pieces of gossip builds trust and intimacy. Jeyne and Sansa do this all the time, even though they can have different opinions and disagree about a lot. Yes, there is some one-sidedness in that Sansa socially outranks Jeyne and believes that makes her more mature and wiser than her friend. Jeyne is dependent on her closeness to Sansa as a highborn lady and future queen to rise successfully, so she’s not going to push back on Sansa’s dominance. This is also a reason Jeyne sometimes bullies Arya to supplant her as Sansa’s “sister.” When Sansa has something to share, she goes to Jeyne to talk about it. I think it’s hilarious that the girls have a debate over which castle Gregor Clegane’s head will get spiked. Sansa wants Jeyne at her side for these new and exciting events like the tourney. When things get serious and dangerous, they comfort each other. Again, this is not all George’s fault if some readers don’t recognize or value the way girls do friendships.
It’s stated quite clearly why Sansa tries to not think about Jeyne or her deceased family members very often. It’s fucking traumatic and her survival while among her captors depends on mentally holding herself together.
If only she had someone to tell her what to do. She missed Septa Mordane, and even more Jeyne Poole, her truest friend. The septa had lost her head with the rest, for the crime of serving House Stark. Sansa did not know what had happened to Jeyne, who had disappeared from her rooms afterward, never to be mentioned again. She tried not to think of them too often, yet sometimes the memories came unbidden, and then it was hard to hold back the tears. Once in a while, Sansa even missed her sister. By now Arya was safe back in Winterfell, dancing and sewing, playing with Bran and baby Rickon, even riding through the winter town if she liked. Sansa was allowed to go riding too, but only in the bailey, and it got boring going round in a circle all day. -- Sansa II, ACOK.
Following her father’s beheading, Sansa was in a suicidal depression for days. She wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t bathe, welcomed drug-induced sleep, and contemplated killing herself. If she thinks too much on those she lost, she falls to pieces. She can’t openly weep and mourn for “traitors” if her life depends on appearing to be loyal to Joffrey. Most of her grief is suppressed inside. This also includes asking too many questions she doesn’t feel psychologically prepared to hear the answer to. She was there when the decision was made to shuttle Jeyne off to Littlefinger; however, she has no idea this is going to result in Jeyne being sent to a brothel and worse. I would also keep in mind that even if she did ask, it’s not like Cersei or Littlefinger would ever tell her the truth. Why would they? Does she really want to hear lies and have to think about what the horrible truth might be when she can’t do anything about it? When it comes to Arya, Sansa believes her sister escaped on the ship bound for home. She comforts herself with imagining that Arya is safe and free, and that’s enough to keep her going.
And she prays and sings for Jeyne, wherever she is.
She sang for mercy, for the living and the dead alike, for Bran and Rickon and Robb, for her sister Arya and her bastard brother Jon Snow, away off on the Wall. She sang for her mother and her father, for her grandfather Lord Hoster and her uncle Edmure Tully, for her friend Jeyne Poole, for old drunken King Robert, for Septa Mordane and Ser Dontos and Jory Cassel and Maester Luwin... -- Sansa V, ACOK.
It’s only until later in the books that Sansa feels emotionally at peace enough to start remembering the good times with Arya and Jeyne without breaking down into tears. We can also see the conflicts weren’t always a thing, and the love was strong with all three.
Sansa began to make snowballs, shaping and smoothing them until they were round and white and perfect. She remembered a summer's snow in Winterfell when Arya and Bran had ambushed her as she emerged from the keep one morning. They'd each had a dozen snowballs to hand, and she'd had none. Bran had been perched on the roof of the covered bridge, out of reach, but Sansa had chased Arya through the stables and around the kitchen until both of them were breathless. She might even have caught her, but she'd slipped on some ice. Her sister came back to see if she was hurt. When she said she wasn't, Arya hit her in the face with another snowball, but Sansa grabbed her leg and pulled her down and was rubbing snow in her hair when Jory came along and pulled them apart, laughing. -- Sansa VII, ASOS.
It was most unladylike, but Alayne sound found herself laughing. For just a little while, as she ran, she forget who she was, and where, and found herself remembering bright cold days at Winterfell, when she would race through Winterfell with her friend Jeyne Poole, with Arya running after them trying to keep up. -- Alayne I, TWOW.
So it’s not even that the girls only bond through confiding. They run, play, and roughhouse with each other. It’s interesting that AGOT!Sansa tried to be so mature and proper, but now that she’s older, she’s remembering how good and freeing it was just to be a kid. But let’s not act like this part of the story is over. Jeyne is still very much alive and seems likely to run into Arya in Braavos. We can almost be 100% certain that Sansa will find out the truth about what happened to Jeyne and what Littlefinger did to her (and her parents), then watch out. Sansa will turn all that buried pain into a righteous fury at Littlefinger.
Now as for Sansa being mean for “no reason.” Um... yeah, LOL. Sometimes she’s just a total unwarranted bitch to her sister, and it’s not meant to be a good look. Sometimes she’s superficial, insufferably immature and annoying, judgmental and prejudiced AND THAT’S OKAY. I mean, she sounds no better or worse than your average middle-schooler if they were of the privileged nobility. Guess what? Sometimes preteens are really like that. Sometimes siblings have ugly, knockdown drag out fights where they say horrible things to each other. Most will grow past those phases and still wind up just as loving and close. It’s realistic and believable. Sansa has flaws, but they aren’t deep moral flaws. She does an amazing job at growing, learning, and overcoming those flaws over the course of the books. In TWOW, she’s warm and affectionate with people, easy-going, nonjudgmental, and genuinely more mature than ever. She took the stick out of her ass and became a happier person for it. What’s the problem? What did you want her to be? Perfect? Unfailingly kind and loved by everyone all the time? She’d be a saint, not a multifaceted human being. Even with her occasional ugly side, Sansa is still a strong, smart, compassionate badass. I don’t care if some people don’t like her as she is written or if they vilify her with their misinterpretations or ignore her strengths. What bearing does that have on GRRM’s vision for her character? He never set out to write any character that the whole fandom would either unanimously love or hate.
This is not bad writing. This NOT bad writing. This is GOOD writing.
*Sigh* Listen... this whole nonsense about Sansa being to blame for Ned’s demise has been going on since ASOIAF was written on clay tablets. You don’t have to listen to every stupid thing the fandom says about anything. It’s just factually wrong. End of story. This misinterpretation and reader inattentiveness is not GRRM’s fault, because he lays out all the details of everything that went down between Arya, Ned, and Sansa’s POV as it was happening. It’s totally understandable why an upset and frustrated Sansa would go to Cersei, the mother figure she implicitly trusts and admires. She didn’t go to Cersei to betray her father’s plans. She went to the queen to intercede in what she thought had to be some big misunderstanding, having no idea what was really going on or at stake.
This is not OOC for her to go to Cersei after Lady’s death. The hand that killed Lady was her own father’s, a undeniable breach of trust that wounded their relationship. Ned just doesn’t really do a lot to deal with the emotional aftermath either. Ned and Sansa are very similar in turning a blind eye when confronted with unpleasantness from someone they love. Ned is also at that moment disillusioned with Robert’s failure to do the right thing after the Trident incident. He begs Robert in the name of their brotherly love and the love he bore Lyanna, and Robert turns his back on Ned anyway. Yet Ned immediately goes right back to believing in the best of Robert’s nature, despite all evidence to the contrary. Every sign points to this being a one-sided friendship with Robert being lazy, irresponsible, and completely selfish. Like father, like daughter. Sansa has a very hard time accepting that Joffrey and Cersei are not the people she thought they were, even when she’s seen some cracks. And since she can’t understand her father’s actions and the communication has been shot to hell between them, of course she runs to Cersei with her problems. Cersei can flip a switch and pretend to be kind, loving, and understanding.
This is so typical of a teenage thought process: “Dad just doesn’t understand and he’s making a big mistake. I don’t understand why he’s doing this. He doesn’t get how important this is to me. This will all work out if a sympathetic adult steps in and fixes it. Everything will turn out great and we’ll all be happy.” While Sansa is pouring her heart out about how it isn’t fair she can’t say goodbye to Joffrey, Cersei pretends to be that sympathetic mother figure that really understands her. How hard would it be then to pump Sansa for information? Like “Oh my sweet little dove. I know how much you love my son. Don’t worry. I’ll help you straighten this out. You said your father wants to send you away? How? When? What’s the name of that ship again?”
And that line from Cersei’s POV is horseshit. Cersei is a liar and regularly lies in her POV to absolve herself of responsibility and force the blame entirely on others. In this case, Cersei is acting like she didn’t totally manipulate a trusting child to betray her. We also know this is a lie because Ned was the one that told her himself of his plans to reveal the invest and remove her as queen. Sansa had nothing to do with that. All Sansa did was give Cersei information that allowed Cersei the opportunity to take her hostage before the girls could leave by ship. Cersei’s plans against Ned were already well underway. Sansa never came to her with the intent of knowingly betraying anyone, but she did have selfish reasons for going to the queen to complain in the first place. GRRM said himself that Sansa wasn’t to blame for Ned’s capture or death, but she did play a role in the events that transpired. That’s fair. All that makes her is a kid who made a not entirely innocent mistake, but a mistake nonetheless, which she immediately learned from. Does she trust Cersei or Joffrey again? Hell no.
Relax, anon. It’s fine for her to not be nice all the time. It’s fine for her to have some realistic, garden variety flaws. It’s one of the most universal human mistakes to fall too hard and fast for the wrong person, act the fool over them despite all the red flags, only to realize you only saw what you wanted to see in them. And Sansa learned this lesson at eleven when some adults haven’t learned it at all. Relax. She’s a great, well-written, relatable character who has overcome most of these issues successfully.
