kind of wild that snape pretty much got james killed (and was initially ready to let both he and harry die), yet he still constantly spat on james’s memory in front of his grieving loved ones.
like I get that his trauma is complex but damn. you’d think getting the guy killed would make them even or something.

Hey! 👋🏼 Ty for taking the time to write such eloquent and inspiring fluffy works for us!
I'm a writer as well, and what I've read of yours (most of your marauders in the last 2 days 🫣) has scratched an itch I've had for inspiration! This is greatly appreciated!
I was wondering if you'd mind writing something for Gn!reader and poly!Wolfstar where one of them aren't well (a cold or flu perhaps?) and reader cares for them, convinced they won't catch whatever the other has. But, it inevitably happens anyway and then they're all miserable and help each other through it? Muggle AU or whatever you're comfortable with. :)
If not, no worries! I just love your writing style and it's refreshing!
Have a fantastic day!
Thanks for your request babe <33
poly!wolfstar x gn!reader ♡ 711 words
“Rem.” You kiss your boyfriend’s temple, trying to wake him gently. “Remus.”
He hums, a tired, croaky sound. His face turns further into the pillow.
“Sorry, lovely. Your soup’s going to get cold.”
Remus cracks an eyelid. “Oi,” he grunts. “Get away.”
You let out a breathy laugh, sitting up. “Gosh, you’re so sweet when you’re sick. Aren’t I lucky?”
“You’re going to be sick too if you’re not careful,” he says, though he scoots into an upright position against the pillows of the bed once he sees the soup you’ve made him sitting on the nightstand. You pass it to him. “Thank you, love.”
“Don’t mention it.” You lift your hand, brushing some hair aside to feel his forehead. “How’s your throat?”
As if reminded to do so, Remus makes a gravelly throat-clearing noise before blowing on a spoonful of soup. “Better, I think.”
You make a pitying sound, stroking your thumb over his temple.
There’s a tsk from behind. You turn to find Sirius carrying in a cup of tea. He levels you with a reproachful look.
“You’re begging to get sick.”
You roll your eyes. “I’m not.”
“S’what I told them,” says Remus.
“I never catch the flu,” you defend yourself.
“Just…” Sirius sets Remus’ tea down on the nightstand, taking you by the hips to pull you a few inches down the bed. “Let’s keep some distance from patient zero here. Not that I don’t love you,” he says to Remus with a saccharine smile, “because I do, but I don’t need to miss my work party on Friday because this one felt cuddle deprived.”
“Totally understand.” Remus slurps his soup.
You frown. “It’s nothing so wholly selfish as cuddle deprivation. If I wanted those, I could just get them from—” You’re cut off when a bit of phlegm gets caught in your throat. You clear it hastily. “From you.”
Sirius’ eyebrows have inched upwards. “No, I don’t think you could. You’re catching it already.”
“I am not,” you say, but you can’t help coughing a couple of times. “Sorry, there’s just something stuck in my throat.”
Remus groans. Sirius pins you with a glare.
“Get in the bed.”
Unfortunately, despite Sirius’ best efforts, Friday morning finds all three of you sniffling and foggy-headed, each too warm to tell if the others have a fever.
“Two blankets is plenty,” Remus reasons with Sirius.
“I’m freezing.”
“I’m sweltering.”
“I’m going to make tea.” You haul yourself upright, dragging one of Sirius’ three requested blankets with you like a cape.
“Oh.” Remus sounds hesitant. “I’m sorry, lovely, I ran us out of honey last night. I’ll go to the co-op.”
You try not to let your shoulders slump too obviously with disappointment. Or to curl up on the floor, or to start crying, or any of the things you’d really like to do.
“That’s alright,” you say. “I can just dissolve a cough drop in it. It’ll work the same.”
Sirius whines. “Baby, that sounds pathetic.”
“I’ll only be a few minutes.” Remus starts to rise. “We need more tissues anyway.”
“No,” you and Sirius say at the same time.
“The last time we let you go on an errand,” says Sirius, “we found you nearly passed out in the lift.”
Remus’ already flushed cheeks turn a deeper pink. “I did have all the groceries, though.”
“I’m calling James,” you announce.
“No,” Sirius and Remus chorus.
“Why not?”
“Lily said if we got him sick, she was going to take Harry to her parents’ and leave us to take care of him.”
“James invented the man cold,” Remus tells you, sniffling. “It would be awful.”
“Fine, then I’ll go to the store.”
“No, come here.” Sirius reaches for you, wrestling you back down onto the bed. His warm cheek presses to your clammy forehead. “I’ll do it, I’ll call James. We’ll just tell him to leave the stuff outside the door.”
“You know he’s going to want to come in,” says Remus, though he reclines against the pillows again with a relieved sigh.
“Yes, well.” Sirius sets his lips to your temple. “Better to risk a whiny James than one of you keeling over on the sidewalk, I suppose.”
“I did not keel over.”
“Hush, darling. You’re growing delirious.”

OBSESSED|| J.F POTTER
Pairing; James Potter x Fem!Girlfriend!reader
Summary; It’s no secret that James Potter is absolutely obsessed with his girlfriend and he couldn’t be more in love.
Warnings; None. (Fluff.)
HP/Marauders Master List
Tumblr media
The entirety of Hogwarts were not ignorant of the knowledge that when James Potter loved, he loved hard and he did it with everything he had in him.
They had seen it in the way he treated his closest friends and they had most definitely seen it when they had seen him pine after Lily Evans, trying with everything in him to gain her affections.
However, after at least a hundred hairline cracks to his heart it was important to make the decision to move on from the red head before his heart broke in two.
It was hard to believe that the Potter boy had truly decided to put the red head behind him, even his friends weren’t really sure they believed him but it just so happened that the boy was telling the truth.
He no longer put on grand performances professing his love, no longer sent gifts via owl flying through the Great Hall and no longer tried to ask out Lily on a date.
Instead he took time to focus on himself, his studies and his friends.
It turns out that when your entire focus is simply on the girl you thought was the love of your life and pranking others it could really affect a person’s grades and so when Minnie had suggested the idea of a tutor he happily agreed with her, he wanted to prove that he really was serious about his studies and his future, not just to his professors but to his parents too.
He wanted to be more than a spoilt, rich boy that got handed everything he could ever need.
He wanted to earn the opportunities he was being given.
Lucky for him, he got a lot more than he was bargaining for when he walked into McGonagall’s classroom that day to find you sitting at one of the desks with your head stuck in a book, waiting for him.
Not only did his grades start skyrocketing but he found that with each tutoring session he spent with you a weight began to grow in his chest, only growing heavier with each moment you spent together.
He’d begin to look forward to seeing you there waiting for him, hair messily pulled back away from your face, eyes narrowed in concentration as you read whatever book you had with you that week, he thought you were adorable.
Slowly, he had accepted the fact that he did indeed, have a crush on you.
He approached it differently than he had with Lily though, instead of grand gestures and eccentric performances, he instead settled for subtle acts of service and innocent touches.
An entire two months he had spent sending subtle glances your way, asking innocent questions to get to know you better, strategically taking notice in the way you’d react to his minor compliments or soothing touches to try and find out if you in some way felt the same.
He thought you did, you had to, right?
He wasn’t imagining the way your cheeks would turn pink when he brushed his hand against you or the way you’d shyly refuse eye contact with him when he looked at you a certain way.
He couldn’t have been imagining it.
He wasn’t. When he eventually bit the bullet and asked you out on a date he couldn’t believe it when you had agreed.
A night spent in the Astronomy Tower with your favourite snacks as you talks for hours and watched the stars had been the start of it all.
There was no doubt about it that James Potter loved you, Hogwarts had never seen him happier.
"He’s doing it again," Sirius groaned, seeing the way James was sitting with his head rested against his palm, seemingly in a daydream as he stared across the hall at you.
It would’ve been deemed creepy if they didn’t know he was staring at his girlfriend, you.
"Leave him alone, Padfoot, he’s in love," Remus teased, briefly glancing up from the novel he was reading, it amazed him every time at just how easy it was to read the emotions swimming in his friend’s hazel eyes.
"He was never like this with Lily," Peter piped up through a mouth of pastry.
Sirius gave him a look of disgust before commenting "He doesn’t even know who Lily is anymore, there’s only two women that exist to our Prongs here and those are his mother and the girl he’s currently staring holes into."
There was no indication that James had heard Sirius’ words but he suddenly jumped up from his seat, startling his three friends. "I need to go give Y/N a hug before she forgets about me." He briefly explained before hurrying towards his girl.
"What the fuck is wrong with him?" Sirius mutters in disbelief, all three of them turning to stare at where you were now in James’ arms, looking up at him with a loving smile.
There was no lie in the saying that Potter’s only fall in life once, they just first need to learn the difference between love and infatuation.
He had been infatuated with Lily, but he was beyond in love with you.

Day 3: multiple orgasms | poly! marauders + Lily
Tumblr media
smut
TW: piv, oral (both fem and male receiving), teasing, nipple play, squirting
You didn’t know what that was about today got your lovers so horny, but something was definitely in the air because you’ve never had all of them lusting over you like this in the same day.
It all started in the morning, when you found Lily’s head between your thighs, kissing you sloppily while fingering you. Now, this wasn’t something extraordinary, to wake up with one of your lovers in between your thighs, and you couldn’t complain, honestly. Usually, though, that was enough to satiate them.
Instead, you found her hand dangerously close to your core in the Great Hall. “Lily!” You whispered at her, making her chuckle. “Sorry, sorry, didn’t mean to work you up” But she definitely did, because her hand didn’t stray away from its position, her fingertips grazing lightly at your core. Sirius, sitting on your other side, mimicked Lily, making the simple task of taking notes an Herculean one.
During lunch, Remus was glued to your side, always finding an excuse to kiss your neck, making you shiver, or to “casually” reaching across from you, his arm grazing your nipples.
But what made today nearly unbearable was the sloppy make out session with James, when he decided to drag you in the locker room mid training, his hands everywhere but somehow not where you needed him the most.
So, here you were, sat for dinner, your appetite for food lost for good. Somehow, all you were thinking about was to get off, your orgasm in the morning clearly not enough to satiate you after all of the teasing.
“Something’s wrong, dove?” One glance at Remus’s face, and you knew that was all a really well made plan to get in between your thighs. The worst part about it was that they didn’t have to make you this needy to reach their goal, you were always more than willing to have a night of hot sex with all of them.
“I’m going upstairs” Without saying another word, you got up, stomping to your room, all of them following you close behind. Once there, you turned around, pointing a finger at them accusingly. “I know what you all are up to.”
Lily chuckled. “And what’s that, honey?” Her voice was so sexy, it confused you for a second, but you quickly snapped out of it.
“See? Why are you being this hot today? It’s so unfair, all of these touches and no getting off, this is pointless AND frustrating”
Sirius circled you, gathering your hair in his hand to free one of your shoulders, kissing it lovingly. “You didn’t like it? Didn’t like how me and Lily were making you all worked up under the dining table? So close to coming, weren’t you” He spoke near your ear, making you shiver. Remus quickly made his way to the other side. “Didn’t like how I grazed your nipples at lunch? They were so hard, peaking out from your shirt, the hottest thing I’ve ever seen”
James kissed your lips. “Didn’t like our little make out session? It was hot, wasn’t it?”
All of this dirty talking was making its way to your head, your brain mush. “I… But…”
Lily laughed. “Sht, honey, let us take care of our poor girl, so needy after a long day of teasing”
You were led to your bed, your mind spinning, while they started undressing you.
“Fuck, not the red lace panties” You winked up at Remus. “Two can play this game” He smirked, toying with the hem of them, then taking them off with a quick motion.
Lily knelt on the ground between your legs, her head soon between your thighs. “Getting to taste you twice today, how am I so lucky”
The guys watched you closely, but you were too far gone to feel ashamed about it, your brain short circuiting. Feeling her tongue on you was the closest thing you’ve ever experienced to heaven, it was the way she wouldn’t stray her gaze away from you, even while being so focused on your pleasure.
“Awe, baby, you’re soaking. Going to come on her face like a good girl, mh?” You nodded, then James had his dick pulled out directly over your head. “Suck on it while you come, sweetheart”
You obeyed, licking a stripe from the head of his dick up to his balls, his taste giving you a heady feeling. As you came, you released a loud cry, muffled by James’s cock, the vibrations making the guy throwing his head back, you swore you felt his thighs quivering a bit.
As soon as Lily was done, Remus was on you, trailing his dick up and down teasingly, making you whimper. He pushed in only the tip; you cried in frustration. “I don’t want to hear your protests, dove. We’re going to stay like this until James comes, so try to be a good girl for him”
You whined, proceeding to hollow your cheeks, your tongue swiping across its head. “Remus, I don’t know if I’ll last that longer for it to be actually frustrating, but I can try”
You took him as far as you could down your throat, gagging slightly. “Oh my God, love, if you keep” You interrupted him, one of your hands going up to his balls, and he was long gone. He released himself into your throat, and you swallowed, looking up at him innocently. “Going to need a fucking minute” He sat against the headboard, watching as Remus entered you with a harsh thrust.
As he changed up the angle, Lily positioned herself right over your face. “Going to sit on your face” You smiled up at her, your hands reaching for her thighs and pulling her against your mouth, making her mewl.
One hand reached out for Sirius, pumping his dick while Remus thrusted into you violently. Your other hand reached up to touch one of Lily’s breasts, pinching her nipple slightly as you sucked on her clit, her taste like honey on your tongue. You felt your legs up in the air, on the werewolf’s shoulders, the position making you let out a scream, muffled by Lily’s core. He pressed down what you later realized was a rose toy on your clit, making you come on his dick, squeezing him impossibly.
Meanwhile, the redhead started grinding on your face, and you lapped up her core, her clit bumping repeatedly on your nose You entered her with two fingers, rubbing at her special spot, the stimulation making her squirt all over you, you lapping her up and working her through it. Remus came with Lily, shooting his seed inside of you.
As Remus strolled away, you thought you’d be done, but there was James, thrusting into you easily, and you felt like it was going to be a little too much.

you'd be the love of my life when i was young
Tumblr media
summary: gryffindors wear their heart on their sleeve when they fall in love. slytherins keep their heart locked far away to keep it from breaking.
pairing: poly!marauders x reader (sirius x reader, remus x reader, lily x reader, and james x reader)
tags: slight angst, fluff, lucius malfoy, happy ending
note: i have a chemistry quiz due in 50 minutes but this takes priority. . . i haven't written in a while so forgive my rusty writing skills, they've only been let out from the basement today. not proofread, we die like the marauders. (title is taken from the song, 21 by gracie abrams, because that's roughly around the age jily die. hehe.)
Tumblr media
They said when you fell in love with the right people, everything would fall in place after.
What a load of bullshit.
You had come to a conclusion one winter morning, laying in the Gryffindor common room dressed in your woolly, green jumper. You rested on the worn-out leather seat, nervously fiddling with your fingers as you stared at the ceiling, thinking about how it was going terribly wrong. How funny it was, that the 30th of December greeted you with an existential crisis instead of presents and hot chocolate.
There was something quite wrong with you, you had noticed for the past few months.
Every time Sirius Black smiled at you, showing off his pearly canines and the crinkles by his deep-grey eyes, you would experience a painful, tightening sensation in your chest — like someone was squeezing at your heart. Most people knew Sirius Black, the prankster, but you were lucky enough to know Sirius, the kind and spirited boy who had a heart that loved fiercely more than anyone you knew.
Cosy afternoons found you in the library with Remus Lupin, and a strange feeling would erupt in your stomach whenever Remus leaned down, and you’d catch a whiff of pine needles and fresh mint. Shaggy, blond hair falling over his eyes as he came to life, talking about your common love for muggle books. He made time feel like an illusion, minutes fading away into hours as the two of you shared stifled giggles, cheeks numb by the time you left the room.
And James, oh James Potter. It was difficult to describe what you felt with him — but with James, the brightest colours in the world couldn’t even compare to him. James was like putting on a pair of brand-new eyeglasses and seeing everything clearly for the first time. And without a doubt, you knew that James would never let you get hurt. But these days, you were weak in the knees as you’d see him across the Great Hall, waving at you excitedly as he bellowed your name, and to come and sit next to them.
Last, but certainly not the least, Lily Evans. Her sweet, airy voice was a warm hug on a cold day. And her actual hugs were second to none — don’t tell Sirius, however, he liked to shift into Padfoot to steal Lily’s title as the queen of cuddling. Lily flowers were delicate, she was anything but. The spitfire of Gryffindor, who would raise her chin and defy anyone who would harass you for hanging out with them.
(“You’re our emotionally constipated Slytherin,” said Lily as she mushed your cheeks, cooing when you tried to glare at her, and the three boys guffawing in the background. They liked to tease you often, being a year younger than them.)
Were you dying?
That was the only plausible explanation to your palpitating heart and rickety knees.
No, it was definitely not because you had gone and fell in love with your best friends.
That was absurd.
You had tried venting to Lucius Malfoy once. Narcissa often doted on you, sneakily leaving treats on your desk before she left for her class, and fussing when you got sick — which was quite often. That meant, when you weren’t with the marauders, you were trailing after the Slytherin power couple, or Severus.
(Lucius curled his lips in disgust, Narcissa sipping tea by his side, failing at hiding her knowing smirk. “I am above such childish matters,” hissed Lucius, scowl deepening when Narcissa laughed heartily, looking happier than she had been since returning home for the holidays. “I do not know why you’d even think to come to me for this.”
You huffed.
Maybe you’d try Severus next.
Naturally, he stormed off the moment Lily’s name fell from your lips.
Your resident seventh-years were confusing.)
Fortunately, you were stripped from your thoughts when the entrance to the common room slammed open, the paintings clamouring as they were disturbed from their slumber. One by one, the marauders piled inside the room, a string of melodious laughter and boisterous conversations following their arrival. Hastily, you sat up, heart thudding against your ribcage. Silence, you wretched beast, you told it. Don’t let them see how I burn for them.
“There you are!” Sirius came into view first, grinning widely as he crossed the room to reach you. “Who said you could be this pretty in the morning, love?”
Ba-dump!
Sirius plopped down head first onto your lap, manoeuvring your hand to comb through his hair as he sighed in contentment. “Bloody hell,” He exhaled shakily, “Last night was the worst one we’ve ever been through.”
Your fingers ghosted through the new scar etched across his sharp cheekbones — it was nothing Madam Pomfrey couldn’t fix, but you still didn’t like the sight of them bruised and wounded. Swiftly, Sirius grabbed your hand and intertwined your own with his. “I’m sorry,” You whispered.
Sirius chuckled tiredly, tightening his hold on you, as though you were a tether that kept him afloat in his sea of nightmares.
(And you were. If only you knew.)
“It’s not your fault,” said Sirius.
Then, your eyes landed on Remus limping towards you, his bare skin littered with scrapes and marks, supported with an arm around James’s broad shoulders. He sent a toothy smile your way, despite the tired lines on his forehead and deep bags beneath his eyes. “Waited up all night for us, huh?”
“I just couldn’t sleep knowing you guys were out there,” You whispered sheepishly. “It’s too dangerous, what happens if something goes terribly wrong, and it costs you your life? We need to tell someone.”
“Everyone who needs to know, already knows.” Remus bit down a pained expression as he sat by your side, head lolling on your shoulder. “This is the best we have for now.”
You didn’t like it.
You didn’t like it at all.
Before you could reply, Remus turned his head, lips feathering against your exposed skin. His voice was low as he said, “‘Sides, it’s our job to worry about you, not the other way around.”
“Well, I apologize for interrupting your job,” You whispered back harshly, wondering if that was all you were to them, a younger friend they felt the need to look after. Oh, how mortifying that would be.
James chuckled from behind you, bending over the back of the couch, he pressed a kiss to the side of your head, lingering for a few moments that felt like an eternity. “You’re too adorable,” said James, tweaking your nose. “Our angry, little Slytherin.”
“I’m not little.” You glowered at him.
“Perhaps not.” James smiled cheekily. “But you’re ours.”
Often times, you had wondered how the five of you came to be so tight-knit, knowing their disdain for most of the Slytherins.
(Little did you know, you smiled at them once in Potions, and they were a goner.)
Something stirred deep in your belly.
You sucked in a breath. “Don’t say things like that, James.”
People could get the wrong idea.
You could get the wrong idea.
“Well, why not?” Lily appeared in your peripheral vision, the scent of blooming wildflowers and fresh rain filling the room. Like the three boys, her skin was sallow from lack of sleep, but her bare face and blinding grin left your heart racing. “It’s true, isn’t it?”
It could be, just not in the way you wanted it to be true.
You sighed. “Class is going to start in a few hours, I should get going.”
“Or,” James began wickedly, throwing a thick blanket onto the floor by the fireplace, and tossing a bunch of throw pillows at Sirius’s face. “We could have a sleepover right here.”
“Sounds good to me,” said Lily merrily, stealing James’s blanket as she placed a pillow beneath her head.
“I really have to go—” You reasoned pathetically.
“Stay,” whispered Sirius without even opening his eyes as he curled his lithe fingers around your wrist. “You being here makes us feel better.”
They were too cruel, saying all these sweet words, not knowing how it drove knives through your heart.
James yawned as he laid on the carpeted floor, hiking the blanket up to his shoulders as he threw a leg over Lily, pulling her close to his chest, nuzzling the crook of her neck. “D’you have your textbooks with you, love?” He asked you drowsily.
“No,” You answered, any other words lodged in your throat.
“That’s fine.” James hummed. “I’ll just get the cloak and sneak into the dungeons later to get the books for you.”
“Sleep,” Remus urged you, unaware how you shivered at his words.
“You can’t be comfortable like that,” You told him in disbelief, watching his neck bend at an angle to lay on your shoulder.
“Trust me,” said Remus gently, eyelashes tickling your skin, “I’m right where I want to be.”
You had grown silent for a few beats, unaware how Sirius’d opened his eyes, staring at your worried expression.
(How could one person be so perfect, he wondered.)
“You alright, darling?” He reached out to trace the curve of your jaw with his thumb, the palm of his hand holding your face as though you were a pureblood’s antique treasure. (Mine, mine, mine, his heart screamed.)
But like the Slytherin you were, you lied as easily as you breathed.
“I’m fine.”
As you laid in between Remus and Sirius, watching the peaceful rise of Lily and James’s chests, you had come to a daunting realization.
You were irrevocably and agonizingly in love with your best friends.
And because fate liked to spit in your face, the four of them were already in a beautiful, committed relationship.
Who were you to get in the way of that?
They would understand, you convinced yourself.
They would understand that you had to stay away from them. You had to protect your heart and keep it safe. The marauders were a dangerous bunch, and they had played the biggest prank on you, and by Merlin, would you fall for this particular prank over and over again if it meant you could hear their voices and fall into their embrace.
But you couldn’t stay. They would only crush your heart otherwise.
If Gryffindors wore their heart on their sleeves when they fell in love, Slytherins protected theirs with every fibre of their being, locking it in a cage where no one else can have the power to break it.
Like what any love-stricken teenager would do in the face of heartbreak, you began to ignore the objects of your affections — ignoring the way your soul called out to theirs.
It wasn’t as obvious the first few days. You would escape their company under the ruse of studying for McGonagall and Flitwick’s practical tests.
(“They’re notoriously difficult after all,” You told them, a nervous laugh accompanying your lie. Peter eyed you curiously, noticing small details the others could not see — your quivering lips, your nails digging into your palms, and the way your eyes wouldn’t meet any of theirs. “I just don’t want to fail.”
You could have cried at the way James held the back of your head as he placed a soft kiss on your forehead. “You’ll do well, love. You always do.”
“You can study with me, if you want,” Remus quickly offered. “I’m not as good as James in transfiguration, but I can definitely teach better than those two.”
“Hey!” Sirius exclaimed in mock offence.
“Thanks, it’s sweet of you to offer,” You told them, shifting your weight awkwardly from one foot to the other. “But—”
“Say less, darling,” Lily interjected kindly, wrapping her scarf around your neck. She smiled at you, holding both your cheeks in her palms. “They’re the worst lot to study around, I know. Just don’t study too hard, okay? Take breaks, have a cup of tea now and then, and remember it’s okay to ask for help — don’t give me that face — if it gets too overwhelming, just ask. We’re here for you in every way you need us.”
Oh.
You were well and truly screwed.
“Thanks,” You croaked.)
But it was getting harder and harder to come up with excuses.
(“Wotcher!” Sirius grinned, encasing you in a tight hug after bumping into you in the corridor. “Haven’t seen you in a while, busy bee. Fancy a lunch with us in Hogsmeade?”
You scrunched your nose, red and bitten from the winter frost, stepping away from him and ignoring the way his face fell. “I. . . I can’t. I’ve got practice with the Frog Choir.”
Sirius shoved his hands in his trouser pockets. “S’alright. I can wait and pick you up right after, then we’ll swing by that shop you really like—”
“I can’t, Sirius,” You interrupted harshly, wrapping your arms around your chest as your gaze dropped to the ground. “Sorry. I just. . . I’ll just catch you some other time.”
Sirius flinched. “Sure, love. Other time, yeah?”
But only the wind replied.
Saturday came, and along with it was the long-awaited match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. James, decked out in his uniform, bounded over to you at the Slytherin’s side of the Great Hall, oblivious to the death glares some of your housemates had sent his way. He wrapped his arms around you from behind, lifting you from your seat.
“It’s Quidditch day, pidge!” James tilted his head, awfully resembling a lost, confused puppy. “Why aren’t you dressed yet? It’s the game of games! Even Remus is announcing the game later.”
You bit your lip before responding. “I’m not going, James.”
“What?” He furrowed his brows. “Why not?”
Ever since you had become friends with James Potter in your first year, you had never missed a single game of his. Except for the one time you had fallen sick during his match against Hufflepuff — and the moment he knew you were ill, the game ended in less than two minutes, by his sheer determination to get by your side quickly and make sure you weren’t alone.
You sighed. “I don’t know, James, I’m just not feeling up to it today.”
It was a big, fat lie, and he knew it too.
You didn’t go to his match later that day.
It was one of the biggest losses James had ever experienced — he wasn’t talking about Quidditch.)
Your housemates were beginning to realize was something was off as well. They might not be particularly fond of the Gryffindors that captured your heart, but they were fond of you, and they guarded their own.
You had a stare-down with Regulus Black in the common room — and you weren’t about to lose — before he blinked and asked, “What did my brother do?”
“Nothing,” You replied, pretending to be engrossed with your herbology textbook.
Severus rolled his eyes before plucking the book out of your hands. “Spit it out, woman. We’ve had to watch you mope around pathetically for days now. It’s irritating the rest of us.”
You sniffled. “Then just leave me alone! No one asked you to check up on me!”
“Unfortunately, we can’t.” Severus took a seat beside Regulus. With a pained grimace, he said, “So you can. . . pour your heart out to us.”
“I can’t.” You wailed. “I’m a Slytherin, we’re the worst at that.”
Regulus shrugged his shoulders. “It’s true. We’re hopeless.”
“But,” He raised his wand, “We do speak in jinxes and curses.”
“Don’t you dare!” You blubbered, wiping at your tears — but somehow, without having to express it in words, they understood, and you had felt lighter.
Still, you missed them.
“This is pathetic.” Lucius enters the common room, Narcissa holding onto his arm, watching the scene before him with blank eyes. “Black, Snape, get out, you’re only making whatever this is, worse.”
Narcissa was by your side in an instant, dabbing at your wet eyes and cheeks with a handkerchief that cost more than your life. “Hush now, darling. What’s wrong, hm? Was it that idiot cousin of mine? Don’t worry, Lucius can tell his father, and we’ll have them begging at your feet by tomorrow.”
You cried louder.
“I jest, I jest.” Narcissa softly chuckled, pulling your hair away from your face as she tugged you close. “Please tell us what’s wrong. It’s been awful seeing you like this for the past few days.”
Lucius sat on the loveseat across you, resting his feet atop the glass coffee table. “Yes, I beg you — do as she says, for the love of Merlin. But, really, what else did you expect, associating yourself with that ragtag of miscreants?”
Narcissa glared at him.
Lucius raised his arms in surrender.
Narcissa clicked her tongue before returning her attention to you, eyes softening at your tear-stricken face. She smiled, albeit sadly, as she said, “Perhaps, I know what is wrong.” She gestured to the way you clutched at the front of your shirt. “It is the matters of the heart, is it not?”
You nodded weakly. “I love them.”
“And they, you,” said Narcissa. “So, what is wrong?”
“I love them!” You hiccuped.
“Unfortunately.” Lucius handed you a tissue. “The whole of Hogwarts knows this already, so I do not understand why you’re blowing snot all over my fiancé’s robes about it.”
“They don’t feel the same way about me,” You confessed with a sob.
Lucius stared at you incredulously. “Please do not tell me that you are this daft.”
“What do you mean?” You asked him through narrowed, teary eyes, Narcissa rubbing the tips of your numb fingers from crying so much.
“I did not sign up for this.” Lucius rubbed at his temples as he stood up. “I will only say this once, so make sure you are listening. Those Gryffindor idiots are so disastrously in love with one another — let me finish, damn you — and if you cannot see that they love you too, then it is your own fault. It physically pains me to see the way they smile when you are near. They would move the earth for you, and they would shake the heavens for you.”
Gryffindors must have hearts made of steel, because you didn’t know how they could be so brave, to look fear right in the eyes and say: I’m ready.
Because you surely weren’t. You were headed towards your usual spot in the courtyard by the clock tower, legs heavy and swell deep in your throat. Then, you found them, looking so achingly beautiful under the sunlight, huddled together for warmth as they smiled and laughed at lame puns and mistimed jokes.
Did you have a place with them?
You were about to find out.
“Hey,” You greeted once you were right in front of them. A month of evading them, and now you were here. It was like finding a piece of your soul that you had lost.
(For them, seeing you was like finally being able to breathe again.)
“Hey,” said Lily, devoid of any warmth, and that broke you.
Bravery was poison, you decided. A trap for weak-hearted fools like you.
Sirius shot James a look before clenching his jaw. “No choir practice today? No study sessions with Cissa or Reg? Wait, no, I’ve got it. Slughorn’s dinner party? Or is it detention with McGonagall today? Does her highness finally feel up to talking to the peasants?”
You inhaled sharply. “Never mind. This was a bad idea.”
But this — is what you deserved. You had hurt them badly, so it was only right for them to stomp on your heart for everyone to see, just as you did to them many times this month.
A sob tore from your lips as you swivelled on your heels, ready to flee the scene and never show your face to anyone else ever again. Yet, before you could leave, Remus clamped his hand over your wrist.
“Why?” He stared at you, searching for anything that could explain your sudden behaviour. Remus looked at you with such emotion, tightly holding onto you — but never enough to hurt, because Remus could never be capable of hurting you. He’d die before he would ever cause you pain.
 (You made him feel unafraid of the moon.)
“Was. . . was it something I did?” Remus asked, laying his wounds bare for you to see. “Was it me?”
“I love you!” You shouted in the midst of panic — you had never wanted to cause Remus to doubt himself. Your loud declaration had caught the attention of some, but you stood on, curling your fists firmly. You needed to do this.
“I love you.” You said once more, breathlessly, staring right into James’s eyes. Such a beautiful shade of hazel. “I love each one of you. And it. . . it hurts right here.” Tears dripped from your eyes to the side of your chin as you splayed your hand over where your heart rested.
“Because you don’t feel the same.”
The four of them simply gazed at you, slack-jawed and wide-eyed.
You took that as confirmation for what you had been fearing all along.
“And that’s okay if you don’t,” You snivelled, unable to see clearly with the streams of tears in your eyes. You thought of how Sirius melted at Lily’s touch and how Remus was the anchor to James’s wild streak. How they all complemented each other and fit perfectly like puzzle pieces. “Just give me a few months, and I’ll get over it. It’s a stupid crush anyway, it’s my fault. The four of you are perfect together, how could—”
“Shut up,” James hissed before cupping your face and pulling you in for a kiss. Cherries and pumpkin pasties. He kissed you deeply once more before pressing his lips to your eyes, desperately washing away your tears with his devotion. “Was that it? We could have been doing this ages ago.”
“What?” You rasped, knees buckling at the weight of his gaze.
James only smiled, stealing your third kiss.
Sirius pulled your hand, his arm encasing your waist as you stumbled to his chest. Like James, he kissed you fervently, like he wanted to chase off all your fears and doubts. His lips were warm against yours — firewhiskey. You wanted to be burnt by his flames again and again. He held you close, committing every inch to memory.
(You were art that he wanted to worship.)
He kissed your forehead. “We love you, daft girl.”
He kissed both of your eyes, chuckling when a new wave of tears came. “We have loved you ever since you burnt my mother’s howler in fourth year, and gave us poorly-knitted sweaters for Christmas.”
“I love you,” said Sirius. “As certain as the spring that arrives after winter, I love you.”
You snuffled. “I. . . I don’t understand.”
Remus stepped in your line of sight to place his jacket over you — it was Sirius’s leather jacket, really, but Remus liked to claim it occasionally. He bundled you in earmuffs and rested his chin atop your head, exhaling in relief. “I thought it was me.”
You shook your head, clinging to the front of his shirt. “No, never. It was me. I’m sorry.”
Remus grinned wolfishly, eyes swooping down to your kiss-stained lips. (There you were, standing in the snow that threatened to melt, eyes rimmed with tears, hair wildly ablaze from the cold breeze, cheeks damp and red — but how devastatingly beautiful you were.) “May I?”
You nodded. “P-Please.”
Blueberries and dark chocolate. Remus whispered against your lips, “If it wasn’t already clear, the feeling is bloody mutual — we love you, just as the moon loves the sun enough to chase after it every day.” He grabbed your hand and placed it over his heart, you were surprised to see him holding back tears of his own. “All my life, I thought I was this monster who didn’t deserve to live. But you, all of you, make me selfish enough to want to belong here.”
He kissed you desperately, words of adoration and love falling from his lips.
Finally, your eyes settled on Lily. You waited for her reaction with a bated breath.
You hadn’t expected for her to burst into tears as she rushed over to you.
“Don’t you ever do that again,” said Lily angrily before circling you in her embrace, burying her nose in your hair. You hugged her back, drowning in her scent and warmth. “You are deserving of all the things you want, so don’t run away — if you run, we’d follow you, idiot girl.”
Then, Lily captured your lips with her own.
She tasted like happy endings.

Honey, I’m Home-!
Sirius Black x Mom! Reader
Ever since Sirius was sent to Azkaban, you were the one in charge of raising Harry. Doing your best, and lucky to have Remus to help. Because of that, a certain Rat wasn’t able to avoid any of your gazes. When Harry’s third year came to a end, you were given quite a surprise at the train station
Warnings 18+, P in V, Female Reader, high emotions, hurt comfort, fluffy and heated sex, getting back together, implied breeding kink, taking care of your man with baths food and you, sir this bed is about to be destroyed with how hard he’s going to rail you. Also, implied Wolfstar/ Remus x You/Poly situation deal up in here hehehehe
Tumblr media
“Harry-!” You called, with a smile. Always there to pick him up from the station, every single time. As a good parent would. Ever since you found out he had such a risk to end up at the Dursleys, like hell you would let that happen. Made you pamper him a bit, given your good friends lost their lives for him. But like hell he didn’t deserve it.
“Shhh shh-!” Harry was soon hushing his friends, leaving you confused. Hermione and Ron quick to hush up, while Remus would set the last of the bags off the train. Wanting to help out, since there were so many Weasleys to worry about. The way he smiled, you were even more curious. You couldn’t recall the last time he looked so relieved. Was there a change in laws that permitted him to work at Hogwarts?
“Children, settle down. Settle down. Go on and show her the surprise.” He teases them, as he would help Molly with the rest of the Weasleys. He threw you a wink, which had you very confused. Not what did that Marauder have in mind this time?
“Mum…..Can we get a dog?” Harry asked you, as the trio stood next to each other. With cuts and bruises all over, but smiling. Even Ron seemed chipper, despite the fact he was in crutch. The hell did those three get into this time?
“A dog-? Harry….You know why we can’t get a dog.” You sighed, not wanting to have this discussion again. With out Sirius, you just couldn’t. Any dog was to painful of a reminder. Oh how you miss your padfoot. What you would give to see him again.
“Mum, please? He’s got no where else to go. Just look at him-“ Harry pleaded, as the trio stepped aside. The dog now exposed to you. Was so painfully skinny, yet also so furry at the same time. Matted fur, and just looking like a grim. He looked so much like Sirius, but so dead as well. Your heart just couldn’t say no this time.
The defeated sigh had them cheer, as Remus returned. Still giving you this coy smile, that had you furrow your brows. You felt like you were missing something, but you didn’t know what. You just knew that it was time to take everyone home.
With Harry hugging his friends goodbye, while this new dog stuck close to your legs, Remus would catch up quickly with Molly. Explaining something. You swore it was about Scabbers, but the new playmate was keeping your attention. Suddenly jumping on you, and licking your face.
“ACK-! HEEL HEEL-!” You called, as the dog was just to strong. How was something so fragile so durable? Reminded you of Sirius. How even in his dog form he was able to tackle people down. Was just making your heart hurt more, which in a morbid sense made you unable to refuse the dog either.
“Mum, Uncle Remus said you should head home with our new dog. He needs me to stay here and catch Mrs. Weasley up on stuff.” The way he fidgeted with his glasses told you it was a mixture of a lie and some truths. What the hell were these people planning? Was this some scheme to help you move on? Accept Sirius was never coming back? That hurt, but also a point was made. Who can escape Azkaban?
“Alright. But be home before dark.” You warned, as you kissed his forehead. Right on his scar, which made him smile. He made sure to give you a hug, before quickly returning to the red heads. Poor Molly looked ready to faint. Make that she did, and the twins had to catch her. Yeah, like hell you wanted to be involved with that.
“Alright, let’s-“ But the dog was running. Right through the wall, with no hesitation. You were flabbergasted, but had no time to think. Harry’s new dog was running off. No way you wanted his poor heart broken over that. So, you ran after it. Trying to catch up, but it seemed high on life.
“GET BACK HERE-!” You hollered, as the dog was running like it was the last thing it could ever do. You were so focused on trying to catch up to it, you barely noticed where you were running towards. By the time you finally caught up, you were wheezing. Hands on your knees, as the door the dog stopped at opened.
“About time Master and Mistress Black returned.” Kreacher sneered, as the dog hurried inside. Did he say what you think he said? No way. That can’t be Sirius. No way in hell. Looks like him, but he’s in Azkaban. You don’t just escape Azkaban. Sure, the daily prophet said he did. But it was more than likely gossip gone wild. You swore every week they said someone did, only for them to be returned the next day.
“Kreacher, phew, give me a minute here.” You coughed, as you stumbled inside. Left for the building to vanish, in the early morning fog. As if it was never there. Leaving you to be alone, with the elf and dog, as you hung up your coat.
You did your best with making the home more live able. The spare rooms built for whenever Harry wanted friends over for the summers. Along with just a safe haven for friends in need of a stay. You turned what was once a cage, into a proper home. Seemed the dog loved it, as it was quick to run up the stairs. Bolting past the curtained painting, and straight to your bedroom.
“How does it….No. no this can’t be. No way…” It was starting to become harder to deny, as you walked up the stairs. By the time you reached the door, you heard it. That familiar eerie bone cracking, when a animagus was changing forms. No way. It couldn’t be. It can’t-
“Home sweet home-“ That gruff voice sung to you, as you opened the door. There he was. Your husband. Your world. Your everything. Standing there, bending his back, as he sported a tattered Azkaban uniform. Bloody, dirty, hardly clothing at all. Hair a mangled mess, and in desempate need of a bath and shave. He was so sickly thin, the very thin fabric was just a sheet on him. Hardly could process it, when those dark eyes locked on yours. Hair so long now, and body tattered. No matter the design, it was still him. Your Sirius.
“Hardly changed a day…” He dreamily said, with that exhausted smile. He was so drained, but you could still see the pure joy in his eyes. He was home. He was with you, and could be there for Harry now. His best friend Remus was in his life again. He’s not in that damn prison, and he’s in your sight once more.
You didn’t care about the grime, as you practically fell into his arms. Sobbing in joy, as he held you close. Despite his thinner structure, he was able to hold you tightly. As tightly as he could, and sway with you. No need for words. Just gentle tears.
That was why Remus was so coy, and why Harry had you two run off. You two needed time to reconnect. Even so young, Harry could grasp how important this was. Guess you were rasing him right. Seemed also that Kreacher might have missed Sirius as well, because you could hear a bath being run. No one asked for it, but he did it. His own free choice. He missed him, in his own way.
“Darling, I love you so much. I really do, but I am so fucking gross right now. You know I’m being honest when even I’m unable to handle my own stink. I’ve had sex with Moony under a full moon. I’m GROSS gross right now. I will kill for a bath-“ He went on, making you just laugh with your tears. Despite the years in such a horrific prison, he was still himself. Guess he was always a little insane.
You didn’t let him go an inch, as you trailed after him to the bathroom. More than happy to help him wash. Just enjoying the needed intimate moment. Just a wife, washing her husband. By god was he filthy. By the time Harry and Remus returned, he was finally drying off. You had no idea if the bathtub will ever recover. Least he was now in his favorite black robe.
“I’ve got dinner handled, don’t worry-!” Remus called, as Sirius would come down the stairs with you. Unable to let go of his arm, and he hardly complained. He missed your touch all the same, as you two would enter the dinning room. Where Harry sat.
“Guess we better start from the beginning.” Harry murmured. You had already gotten used to your son’s insane adventures, but this one took the cake. He got his god father out of Azkaban, somehow-? Yeah, you were sitting down for this. Mindlessly playing with the exposed chest hair you could grab, as the trio of misfits began to explain.
Even while eating, more like Sirius devouring anything in sight, there was so much to discuss. Was mostly Remus, and Harry, speaking. Given Sirius was more so busy hiding during that time frame. Oh how your heart had broken, and repaired, over and over from it all. Your poor husband. But, he’s back now. He’s back, and he’s never leaving you again.
“I know you are my god father and all, but….Do I call you dad now-?” Harry asked. He’s thirteen, still a child after all. It’s going to be a lot to process, even by Wizard standards. With his meal finished, Sirius did have to think a moment. Dispite the fact Harry knew Sirius from stories, because of you and Remus, he was still a stranger after all.
“Uncle Padfoot will work just fine.” He smiled, as he ruffled Harry’s hair. That made the young teen give an awkward grin, as there was something to work with now. Uncle Moony and Uncle Padfoot. It’s a start, and you couldn’t be happier. Just staring with such love to him, with your head on his shoulder. Taking in that scent, as Remus was unable to stop his smile to.
“Harry, dear, why don’t we go out for a walk. Hm?” Remus asked him, making the boy raise a brow. Why would he want to….Oh. Right. Remus would give a gentle head nudge towards the door, and Harry was quick to get the message. Grabbing his jacket, wand, and chasing after his uncle. Not wanting to say another word, as he really rather not think about his mother’s sex life. Even if it’s with his god father.
The second the door closed, you were yanked from your chair. You gave a squeak, as you were tossed over his shoulder. Just like the old days at school. Whenever he wanted your attention, he simply tossed you over his shoulder. Forcing you to pay attention to him, as he would steal you to a private room for a discussion.
“I’m not letting you out of that bed until the head board breaks-“ He warned, as that had your heart racing. Twelve years is a long time, and there was most certainly some catching up to do. You couldn’t deny that, as you watch the stairs trail behind him. Escorting you to your once shared bedroom. Now together again.
You were plopped right on the bed, and he was on you like the hungry dog he was. Stealing you into his lips, and you couldn’t stop your moaning. It had been so long. You needed him as badly as he needed you. How you were enjoying the new long hair, and tangling your fingers into it. Needing as much skin as you could get from him.
He was more than happy to give it to you. The robe thrown aside, as he was pulling at your clothes. Not giving damn if they tore. Nothing else mattered in this moment. He wanted to fuck his wife, and by god was he going to. Twelve years, in Azkaban. He’s going to get all twelve years of pent up desire out in one night. Will your body recover? Do you even care?
“Sirius-“ You sighed, as he finally got your top off. His face buried into your chest, as he snapped your bra strap off. Tossing it aside, as he drank you up. Just feeling your skin on his, and savoring the long missed flesh against his bearded face. Feeling that freshly softened hair on your chest felt so good. Every single fiber of your existence was on fire. Felt like you might implode.
“Not a day passed by, that I wasn’t thinking of you. You, Remus, Harry, you three were what kept me sane. I knew you three were safe with each other. Waiting for me. I came back. I came back, like I promised.” He sighed, as you felt the tears on your chest. Gentle fingers played with his hair, as to try and calm him down. Comforting him.
“I always knew you would.” You felt so silly thinking Remus would ever try and help you move on. Hypocrite he would have been. Human emotions be human emotions, and they were being carnal right now. Needing to burn and burn and burn.
“Have me again, like you’ve had me before.” You asked him, as you cupped his face. Having that thick beard nuzzle into your palm, as those dark eyes stared up to yours. So much pain in his face, but comfort in his eyes. It’s a long journey to recover, but his soul was still there. His body is damaged, but a body can repair. A mind is harder, and that was the battle. A battle he won.
With a kiss to your palm, he would soon attack your lips. Growling into you, as he pulled away the rest of your clothes. Needing to devour your body. Soon marking away at your neck, your chest, your arms. If there was anything his lips could grasp, and making sure you were marked. As if to remind the world you belonged to him, and he wasn’t going anywhere. Not anymore.
“Sirius, how can you still be such a tease?” You whined, as he was grazing his teeth over your thigh. Leaving a bite on your flesh. Letting himself enjoy the flavor of the tingling flesh under his tongue.
“What? I’m an old dog. Old dogs have bad habits.” He teased, before he finally allowed you to get some attention. He really didn’t change, and you were shocked. Never thought being abused could be useful. Only a Black would have such a morbid survival skill.
Before any more depressing thoughts could fill your head, you were able to enjoy the familiar sight. Your husband between your legs, with his cock rubbing against you. The tip of his cock coming into view, whenever he rolled his hips up and down. Rubbing right on your clit, and making you whimper. Sure you’ve played with yourself, but nothing beats his touch.
You both were gripping tightly. Him on your thighs, while you grabbed his shoulders. Needing to feel him in your hands. You both needed it so badly, but both held a near fear. As if afraid that it was all a dream. Luckily, he had the nerve to test that fear. Test it, as he finally pushed in.
“Fuck, I’ve missed this-“ He moaned, as his eyes rolled to the back of his head. The way he growled, and his body just shivered. Aching, and moaning. Might spill just then, if he didn’t stop. Just savoring the feeling of being back inside of you, and how your eyes watered from pure comfort. To have your husband back.
He would lean down, and kiss away your tears, before he allowed himself to move. Just moaning for you, as his nails dug into your flesh. Marking you more, as you moaned into each others mouths. Needing to drink in every last thing you both could offer. So much to catch up on, and to make up for.
With the tender moment passing, you were soon reminded of the wild man you married. The feeling of your legs being pushed towards your shoulders, as he tried to get into you deeper. With his hands now on your ankles, as he was snapping his hips into yours. Needing to make sure you felt ever inch of him.
You loved it, and missed it, all. The feeling of your arms around his neck, and tangling your fingers into his hair. How he growled into you, and the snarls. Oh how you loved how animalistic he was for you. How he would bark and howl at the beg and call to you. Your big bad wolf.
It was all you missed. Had you in a mixture of tears, and pure desire. How he wanted to fight your tears, and kissed you. As heated as he could, to make up for the years parted. To taste you, and savor you all over again. Just the sounds of your moans, the creaking bed, and the flesh on flesh.
You didn’t know how long it lasted, but you felt him pull your lip. Sinking his teeth into it. A typical sign that he was close. A need to ground himself, to last a little longer. Oh how you missed his little habits. That thrill of pain again sent you over, as you came with him. To be as connected as possible.
You expected to get a moment to savor the after glow, but he kept true to his word. You were soon tossed onto your stomach, with the ass in the air. Of course he wanted doggy. It’s cheesey, but a favorite. Suppose one more round could be mustered.
One more became two, and three, and soon you had to chug a Pepper Up potion to keep up. You lost track of the rounds, before you were laid on your back. Soaked in sweat, and sticky from it all. Sheets hardly on the bed, and you were certain there were cracks in the wood. Hardly could breathe, but it seemed he was satisfied.
“Pretty sure you fucked a dozen kids into me.” You wheezed, as he chuckled. Enjoying a much needed cigarette, but still making sure you were comforted. Having your head in his lap, as he played with your face. Admiring all your features.
“Good.” He snickered, as you swatted at his hand. The both of you able to share a laugh, as there was a soft knock at the door. All Sirius had to do was give a sniff in the air, and he knew who it was. A whistle was given, before he grabbed a pillow for you. So you could cover up, despite the fact Remus has certainly saw you naked many times.
“Feeling better now-? Could have used a silencing charm. Had to tell Harry Kreacher was fixing a wardrobe.” Remus scoffed, with a tray of needed drinks and snacks. He would set it down on the bed side table, before joining on the bed. He deserved to catch up with Sirius to. Fine by you.
With some shifting, you were soon snuggled between the two men. Sirius still playing with your hair, as the two men remained sitting up. Keeping their voices low, so you could drift. Just able to be safe, and warm, again. Snuggling your husband, and comforted by the sound of old memories.
What a wonderful lullaby.

Training for the Ballet Potter?🩰
summary: James Potter x Reader, James takes a ballet class and crushes on the teacher (you)
cw: sexist remarks? it is kind of just gender stereotypes of ballet I guess, i didn't proof read this so just pretend it's good for me
word count: 2.6K
Tumblr media
James thought that he might actually quit. This was ridiculous in every sense of the word. It was humiliating and a cruel punishment for sure.
His quidditch coach had the brilliant idea of signing the whole team up for ballet classes. Ballet, as in, turns and tiptoes and tights. This was emasculating to him, so beneath his training and dedication to the sport he should be practicing.
His coach announced the classes on the last day of spring training. He stated that they were to attend every class until their season starts, no exceptions. He went on and on about how it would benefit the team to become more agile and graceful. But James didn’t understand the logic at all, he needed to be quick, strong, sturdy. Not exactly what ballerinas are known for.
His coach emphasized the fact that these lessons were mandatory by stating that those who fail to attend would be cut from the team. He was not joking. A few of his teammates tried to protest, but his coach made the ultimatum. He said that if they wanted to be professionals and play on this prestigious team, they would learn grace and elegance in their training.
James loved and valued his position on the team, so he wasn't so fast to say no to these lessons. He was also trying to become captain of the team this year, and pretending to be excited and grateful for these lessons seemed like a way to earn him some brownie points.
So he pretended to the best of his abilities, he got the team together to encourage or change their attitudes, saying that it would be a great experience for the summer and that it was only three months of these lessons. Well, two lessons every week for three months, but that still wasn’t too bad.
When the coach overheard some of the team still complaining about ballet, he made them run and condition until half of them were throwing up. He was not here to play about these lessons.
“Got your leotard?” Sirius teased James from the couch. He had his head resting in Remus’s lap.
James had lived with his two best friends since the end of school and he couldn’t be happier. Well, he could do with a little less of the making out and the groping he would catch every now and then, but he couldn’t blame them both, they were happy and in love. He just… didn’t need to see it all the time. And now, he didn’t need to be teased to add insult to injury.
“No.” James replied, rolling his eyes. He grabbed his red workout bag with his team’s logo from the opposite couch that his friends were sitting on and slung it over his shoulder.
“I think it’ll be good for you, Prongs,” Remus chimed in, “You could learn a thing or two about grace.”
James again rolled his eyes. He wasn’t in the mood, he was sore from yesterday’s practice, and was now about to prance around like an idiot for an hour.
“I just need to get through this,” James said. “I want to look good when my coach is choosing captains this season.”
“Anything for that position, eh, Prongsie?” Sirius chuckled from Remus’s lap. “Look on the bright side though, you’ll be surrounded by fit girls in tight clothes and tiny skirts.”
Remus smacked the top of his head for the comment, earning an ‘ouch’ and small apology. Remus rolled his eyes this time, annoyed by his lover’s crude statement.
James supposed that there was that to look forward to, he would never say it out loud like Sirius, but he was… intrigued by the idea. His male teammates were all put into the Monday/Wednesday classes with a strict teacher apparently. He was selected for the Tuesday/Thursday classes, which he found out were much smaller and taught by a new, younger teacher. A few of his teammates made sure to let him know how lucky he in fact was, the Monday/Wednesday teacher sounded like a hard-ass and a mean old witch.
Another bright side of the classes was that he would be with Marlene, one of his best friends on the team. If he had to endure this torture, he was glad to do it with her at least. It was actually Marlene who was picking him up so they could go to the lesson together. She should be here in about… now.
James bid farewell to his friends and raced out the door before any of the last minute teasing could make it to his ears, and rushed out to where Marlene was waiting in her car for him.
“Hey,” he greeted her, sliding into the passenger seat of her car which felt much too tiny for him to squeeze into.
“Ready for the ballet Potter?” she giggled, wiggling her brows as she put the car in drive. James found it quite humorous, the two of them, going to their first ballet lesson. The two of them who look like they should keep far away from anything to do with ballet. James, who was a 6’1 burly man with all the elegance of a rhino and knocked into possibly every piece of furniture he owned on a daily basis, and Marlene, with chipped black nails and a self-cut mullet who looks like she would eat the posh little ballerinas for lunch.
Sooner than he would have liked, they reached the dance studio. Marlene parked and they both just sat there for a moment breathing in deep. He turned to her and saw the look that he himself was wearing. One of regret and annoyance.
“Come on Marls, it's an hour and then we’re done.’’ James reminded her.
She groaned but opened her door and slipped out.
They both made their way to the door of the building. He opened it and allowed Marlene to walk through first, pretending that it was just a courteous, gentlemanly thing to do, but in all reality, he was just holding onto any time he could have left not doing ballet.
He stepped into the building and into a crowded area with chairs and fake plants, a waiting room for the parents coming to pick up their little ballerinas from lessons. The waiting room was littered with moms scrolling on their phones and looking at their watches. Great.
James and Marlene had to wait for the teacher to come get them and escort them into the correct studio. Marlene plopped herself in a chair and motioned for James to do the same, but he just stood and lingered around the area.
James heard a door open and the chatter and giggles of many children. He heard many “Thank you miss Y/N”s and “Bye miss Y/N”s followed by a flood of little girls all dressed in colorful leotards and skirts filling the waiting room. The children all ran up to their respective mothers and told them about their lesson and how nice their new teacher was and that they all got stickers and how fun everything was. Some of the little girls eyed James and Marlene up and down, Marlene just stared back until the girls got scared and ran over to their adult.
As soon as the chaos broke into the little waiting room, it left. The last little girl put on her pink sparkly light up shoes and bounded out the door with her parent. This reassured everything that James had already felt; that this was useless, meant for little girls. Definitely not quidditch players, definitely not James.
He heard the door open again and turned to see a small woman, about his age, walk out with a clipboard. Her hair was pulled up into a bun. She was clad in a pink leotard and matching pink skirt, light pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. She was pretty, not in a typical perfect ballerina way, but in an entirely different way. James was definitely not expecting someone like her to be in a studio like this, let alone to be teaching.
Her eyes snapped up from what she was reading on her clipboard and instantly lit up.
“Oh hello!” she squeaked. “Are you two here for the 4:00 class?”
“Uh, yeah.” James replied.
“Perfect! You’re right on time. I’m Y/N, by the way, I’ll be your instructor. You can follow me right in here to studio B.” she said, motioning them to follow her down the hall to the studio. Marlene stood and the both followed. “And here we are,” She said, turning on the light switch, allowing for a better view of the studio.
It was a very small room with light hardwood floors, mirrors lining the back wall. There were mats stacked up in the corner and two parallel bars mounted on the two walls without mirrors.
“You two can go ahead and set your stuff on the wall with the mirrors and then we can get started with stretching.” she announced chipper.
“Aren’t we going to wait for the rest of the class to show up?” Marlene asked from beside James.
“Oh no, you two are the whole class.” She smiled. “You can think of it more like a private lesson, more one on one.”
Private ballet lessons… Sirius was going to have a field day. He looked over at Marlene who just shrugged and made her way to the mirror wall to set her stuff down. James followed.
“It’s just us?” James whisper yelled to Marlene, trying not to let the instructor hear.
“Is that a problem?” Marlene asked back. “She’s hot.”
James just huffed and pulled off his jacket, tossing it in his bag.
“Look Potter, think of it this way,” She tried to reason with him, “Now there’s less people to look like an idiot in front of. All of the embarrassing moves will stay just between us three.” She smiled and James nodded his head, feeling like maybe it was a blessing to be in such a small class. “But… I can’t promise I won't make fun of you or use it against you.” She joked.
“Alright, are you both ready?” Y/N asked sweetly. They both nodded and made their way to the center of the room where she was waiting for them. “Alright first things first, welcome to ballet! My name is Y/N, you don't have to call me Miss or anything like the little ones do, just Y/N is fine” She said, her eyes glowing.
 Marlene was right, she was hot. But James wouldn’t be that forward about it, she was incredibly beautiful. If James could do with a touch of grace, she was bathed in it, dripping in it. She radiated confidence and elegance. James didn’t know what to do with his hands all of a sudden.
“I understand that your coach has signed you both up?” She asked. Marlene nodded in confirmation. “Ok, that is perfectly fine, we teach a lot of different athletes here at this studio. But in all honesty, I am a bit new to all of this,” She blushed, looking to the floor, “I mostly work with beginner classes and children so, bear with me.”
She looked back at them and smiled. “Now, usually we require ballet shoes, but I won't require them for you two, socks or barefoot will be just fine.” she explained. “It is also better if you could wear things that are a little bit tighter. You don’t have to wear leos, but I need to be able to see the lines of your bodies better, so leggings, shorts, tank tops, those are all great!”
She was so cheery. Not only was she elegant and grateful, but kind and bubbly. James felt this warmth within the pit of his stomach now.
“Lastly, I want you two to have fun. I know that this is very different for you but, I promise I will make it as fun and educational for you so that you benefit the most that you can from this experience.” She finished, eyes sparking again.
“Alright with all that being said, let’s start our warm up!” she said.
Y/N led them through a series of stretches, most just like the ones they did at quidditch practice, others that were uncomfortable and pulled on his tight muscles. She assured them that with time, those stretches would get easier.
After, she led them to the bars mounted on one of the walls. She taught them the different positions of ballet; first, second, third, etc.. She taught them plies and releve, coupe and passe, and other French words he didn’t understand and would need to be repeated to him most likely all summer.
“Good Marlene.” James heard Y/N critique from where she was situated behind him. For all the gripe that she gave, Marlene was actually pretty decent at all this.
All of a sudden James felt hands on his abdomen and back, straightening his back into the correct posture. He was startled but continued on.
“There you go,” Y/N chuckled. “And..” she began but cut herself off by setting her hands atop his broad shoulders, pushing down on them. “You gotta relax, your shoulders are too tense. We don’t want them up by our ears,” She said, demonstrating to him by pulling her own shoulders up. “We want an elongated line from our neck and down our spine.” She explained, relaxing her shoulders and looking perfect.
Next Y/N ran them through some basic turns and steps and they practiced by repeating them across the floor. James couldn’t believe this but, he was actually getting a pretty good workout. He was using muscles he didn’t even know he had, and he knew that if he dared mention that he was sore from ballet in front of Remus and Sirius, they would never let him live it down.
Time actually flew, and class was over before he knew.
“Great job today.” She said to them both, smiling as James caught her eye.
“I heard you give out stickers.” Marlene mentioned, mischief laced in her voice, making Y/N giggle. James loved the sound, decided that he wanted to do anything, everything in his power to hear that again. Hear it forever if he can.
She walked over to where her clipboard lay on the other side of the room, picked it up, then returned to where James and Marlene were now packing up. She peeled off a smiley face that said ‘awesome’ and placed it on Marlene’s shirt. Marlene smiled and started out the door.
Y/N peeled another off, a star that said ‘you did great’ and placed it on James’s shirt. She pressed it into the fabric, making sure it stuck. James felt the warmth of her fingers radiate through his shirt and into his skin.
He smiled at her and made his way after Marlene. He turned back to say “See you Thursday!”
She smiled back, waving goodbye to him and repeating that she would see them on Thursday.
Exiting the studio and climbing back into Marlene’s car, James couldn’t get rid of the goofy smile that etched itself into his face. Marlene looked at him and shook her head. “Don’t make it too obvious, Twinkletoes.” She mocked him with a new and reactive nickname.
“What are you talking about?” James asked, pulling his seatbelt on.
“Your little crush.” Marlene said plainly.
James wasn't going to deny it, so what if he had a little crush on the cute ballet teacher? She was gorgeous and so warm. He liked to see the passion in her eyes when she was explaining ballet to them.
He couldn’t believe it and he would probably never say it out loud but he was excited for his ballet lesson on Thursday.

Meeting with the Order of the Phoenix had always a tiresome day for Severus. While he dreaded spending the day in the home of his childhood bully and long-time enemy, Sirius Black, he was grateful for the time he was able to spend with the one woman who brought a smile to his face.
Y/N had been seeing Severus for a few months now, though they had never actually made anything official. They agreed to a casual relationship at first, but they both knew there was more to it than that. Her feelings for the wizard only grew with each passing day, but still Severus refused to admit he felt anything other than lust for the young woman.
Still, she revelled in the nights they spent together, however fleeting they seemed. It was hard for them to gain any alone time together given her less than ideal living situation with his childhood enemy coupled with the fact he refused to invite her into his home. Still, they managed to steal a few moments together here and there.
Today’s meeting was particularly agonising for Severus, nothing of note being said that he didn’t already know. Mad Eye’s voice faded into a singular drone, as Severus leaned back lazily in his chair. His thoughts on nothing but the woman across from him. It had been too long since he had felt her hands on his body; the softness of her skin intertwining with his rough calloused hands, he missed the sweetness of her mouth on his, the sound of her gasps when his hand found its way between her legs, but he especially missed the drooling mess she became when he fucked her hard and rough, his hand covering her mouth to ensure they wouldn’t make a sound.
Y/N tried hard not to look in Severus’ direction to avoid suspicion, regardless she could still feel the way his gaze raked over her body, his mind wandering to places they should not go at a time like this. A red-hot flush crept its way up her neck, the thought of Severus checking her out so publicly sent a rush straight to her core. She cleared her throat and sat up straighter, attempting to dissuade Severus’ glances. He did not take the hint.
Idly pacing around the room like a hyperactive dog, Severus couldn’t help but feel irritated by the mere presence of Sirius Black in his own home, though when the man turned his attention on Y/N his blood began to boil.
Sliding up behind her, Black placed a hot mug of tea in front of Y/N; in innocent gesture from any other, but Snape knew Black always had a motive. The young witch flashed his rival a sweet smile, thanking him for her beverage. Confirming his suspicions, Sirius lingered behind Y/N resting a heavy hand on each of her shoulders, gently massaging. Severus had to hold back his primal instincts, forcing himself not to curse the man for even thinking he can touch what is his. Sirius didn’t move his hands for the remainder of the meeting, neither did Severus’ gaze on them.
The meeting continued for a further forty-five minutes before its members were finally free. However, Molly Weasley had insisted she make everyone a meal before they left, so the house was particularly more crowded than normal.
Y/N shot Severus a look, telling him to meet her upstairs while everyone else seemed preoccupied with chatter. The Potion’s Master wasted no time hesitating, moving the second she gave the order, stealthily disappearing up to her bedroom.
Y/N was not so lucky in her escape. Sirius watched on closely as she swiftly exited the room.
“Oh, thank God.” Y/n gasped at the sight of Snape standing in the middle of her bedroom. Closing the door she hurried towards him, throwing her hands over his head and pulling her body close to his. Instinctively Severus hands fell to her hips, though quickly began to roam when her lips met his.
Balancing on her tiptoes to match his height, she moaned into his mouth.
“God, I’ve missed you.”
“It’s been too long.” His words were muffled by her neck as he kissed his way down to her collar bone, nipping the skin with his teeth once or twice.
She let out a single sharp gasp; the kind he loved so much and he found himself dreaming of regularly.
“How much time do we have?” Severus rasped, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear that had gone awry.
“Not long. Molly said dinner will be out shortly.”
“We’ll have to be quick then.”
Y/N groaned at the prospect. They were forever having to rush their time together, just once she wanted to be able to savour her time with him, maybe then he would actually stick around after sex and she might have the chance to discuss their feelings for each other. As it were, the couple were resigned to hot and heavy meet ups in secret, providing Severus with the perfect excuse to keep her at arm’s length.
“Don’t you think we should just tell people? I’m tired of sneaking around behind everyone’s back.”
Severus nuzzled into the crook of her neck, sucking softly on her skin.
“We’re not telling anyone, because there is nothing to tell. No one needs to know that we’re sleeping together, Y/N.”
She pulled away from him to look him in the eye.
“But what if it becomes more?”
“It won’t.” He stated firmly.
“But –“
“We’ve spoke about this Y/N.”
Her heart dropped despite expecting nothing less; Severus had always made his intentions with her very clear; it was foolish of Y/N to hope otherwise.
Snape made to unbuckle his belt, just as there came a knock at the door.
The pair exchanged a panicked glance.
“Y/N.” Sirius called from the other side of the door. “Are you alright?”
“Fine, thanks. I just came up to look for my wand.” She attempted to dissuade him.
“Do you need any help looking?” The door handle twitched under his grip.
“No, thanks! I’ll be down in a minute.”
The door, thankfully, remained closed. Sirius footsteps faded as he made his way back down the stairs.
Severus was on her in an instant, his hands raking through her tangled mess of hair, capturing her mouth in an aggressive kiss.
Y/N moaned once more, savouring the way his tongue dominated her mouth.
“I have to go.” She sighed, reluctantly. Sirius would be expecting her back down any second, if she didn’t show, he was sure to come up again.
It was Severus’ turn to groan; the tightness of his trousers had become almost too much to bear. It had been so long since their last session, and now who knows when they would next get a moment together.
“I’m sorry. Stay for dinner, I might be able to escape after that.”
Reluctantly, Severus agreed to her offer. Promising to follow shortly behind once she left.
Unsurprisingly, the kitchen was swarmed with people. Countless Weasley’s and numerous other Order members took up the majority of seats around the table. Y/N and Sirius opted to stand on the outskirts of the table, knowing there would be plenty of left overs for them to have once everyone left. Which allowed Severus to slip into the remaining seat practically unnoticed.
Severus sat straight in his chair, arms crossed, eyes laser focused on the couple huddled on the other side of the room. Y/N and Sirius leaned against the kitchen cabinets, giggling together like a couple of school children. Snape watched as Sirius leaned into his friend, brushing aside the loose strand of hair, and whispering something in her ear. Y/N threw her head back and cackled to the sky. It occurred to Snape you had never laughed so hard at anything he had said before, sending a burning feeling of jealousy to his gut. He watched on as Y/N placed her had on the centre of Sirius chest, an attempt to steady herself from her bout of hysteria. Severus jaw clenched.
Finally able to calm herself down, Y/N stalked the length of the table, checking out the food on offer. Severus eyes followed the woman intensely until she came to a stop directly behind him.
“Something bothering you?” She whispered in his ear, noticing the tension coursing through his body.
Severus remained silent, already wary that by standing next to each other they were exposing themselves. She could tell her relationship with Sirius pissed Severus off, but he would never admit it. If he did, he would have to tell her why it bothered him so much. And she knew he was not ready to admit to anything yet. Y/N stole a forkful of carrots from his plate and continued her round of the table.
Sirius joined the woman in her hunt for scraps, the two of them lurking around like a couple of vultures. While, Y/N was simply focused on stuffing as much food into her mouth as possible, Sirius’ attention remained solely on her. When she bent to stick her fork into a bowl of roast potatoes, Sirius rested a hand on the small of her back, keeping it there to draw her closer to him. Severus watched on furiously, his nostrils flaring at the sight. Y/N bit into a large roast potato and moaned appreciatively. Severus mind wandered to an inappropriate place and it was clear Sirius’ did the same.
“My God, Molly, those potatoes are amazing. What did you put in them?”
Severus went deaf to the world as Y/N held her forkful of potato out for Sirius to take a bite from. He took hold of her wrist, bringing her hand up to his mouth, and made intense eye contact while he slipped the potato from its tines.
Severus’ hands balled into fists and his teeth ground together. It was everything he could do to stop himself from lashing out at the man he already despised.
 Either this woman was deliberately trying to drive him mad or she truly saw nothing wrong with her actions; either option was maddening to him.
Severus almost hit his breaking point was when Sirius used his thumb to swipe a drop of gravy from the corner of Y/N’s mouth, bringing it back to her lips to lick.
All idle chatter stopped at the sound of Snape’s chair screeching across the hardwood floors. At risk of exposing their casual relationship, Severus stormed out of the kitchen.
Y/N wasn’t shocked by his reaction. In fact, she was so close to breaking him it almost made her giddy. There was no hiding his feelings for her when this was how he reacted.
After dinner, Y/N helped Molly clear up while everyone else retired to the Livingroom. No one dared speak a word to the brooding Potion’s Master who sat stewing in a single armchair by the fire. To be honest everyone was shocked he was still here, but no one was brave enough to question it; Except Sirius.
“Still here, Snivellus? Thought you’d have slithered off back to that hovel of yours.”
“At least I’m able to slither anywhere, Black. You set one foot outside, and it’s straight back to Azkaban. Tell me, who’s a better roommate? Y/N or the dementors.”
“I wouldn’t say I’m that bad, Severus.” Y/N scoffed at his comparison, shooting him a stern glare as she returned from the kitchen.
“I wasn’t meaning like that.” He sighed to himself.
“Don’t worry about it. Sirius and I have a good thing going here, let’s hope he won’t be returning to Azkaban any time soon, shall we?”
Severus said nothing. He hated the fact you lived with his worst enemy, but he what he hated even more was you defending Sirius over him. The sly grin on the other man’s face showed he had won this round.
Y/N perched on the arm of the chair next to Sirius, finding every other chair occupied.
“Here. Take my seat.” Severus jumped up from his spot on the armchair.
“No need, Snivellus.” Sirius stopped Y/N in her tracks. “There’s plenty of room for her right here.” He budged up a few inches, patting the space next to him. His gaze remained fixed on Snapes, a challenge that said whoever’s offer you took would be the victor.
Eyes flicking between the two men Y/N had a choice to make. While she didn’t like to see Severus defeated by childhood bully, the obvious answer was to sit with Sirius. Not only would everyone get a seat, but doing so would further rile Snape up, maybe then he would be ready to admit to his feelings for her.
“Sit back down, Severus. I’ll be fine here.” She slipped into the edge of the couch; her thighs pushed right up against her friend’s.
Sirius’ grin grew wider at the second small victory. He placed his arm around Y/N’s shoulders, pulling her into his chest.
Severus’ jaw clenched once more. The sight of Sirius resting his arm on her so confidently had him seeing red.
“Has it ever occurred to you, Black, that the woman might not want your grubby paws all over her.” He spat.
“That woman has a name, and a voice too come to think of it. I’m sure if Y/N felt in any way uncomfortable around me she would say as much.”
“Perhaps she is just being polite.” He said through gritted teeth.
“Are you jealous, Snape?” Sirius laughed, realisation hitting him. “Are you jealous that a girl like Y/N is not repulsed by the thought of me touching her, as she would you.” Sirius placed an arm on Y/N’s knee to drive home his point.
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that.” Snape scoffed.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
Severus fought back the urge to lash out at him, standing slowly from his chair once again.
“It seems I have overstayed my welcome.” His tone was eerily calm.
Sirius smirked, basking in his victory.
“You always have been all bark, Severus. Next time you’re here remember your place in this house; you are not wanted.”
“The next time I’m here, Black.” Severus sneered. “I’ll be laughing at your pathetic attempts to win Y/N over, Then I’ll take her upstairs and fuck her until the only thing she knows how to say is my name. MY name Black, not yours.”
The room fell silent at the Professor’s words, everyone’s attention focusing in on him and Sirius.
Molly threw a hand over her mouth in shock, quickly trying to usher her children from the room.
Sirius stood from his seat, pointing his wand in the direction of the Potion’s Master.
“What the fuck did you just say?”
“I said; I’m going to fuck her in your house, while she’s screaming my name and begging for more because she loves the feel of my cock so much.”
A .. flash of light shot from the end of Sirius’ wand, an electric pulse buzzing through the air. Snape deflected it with ease.
The room quickly emptied, leaving only Severus, Sirius and Y/N remaining.
Sirius waited for Snape to take it shot, but it never came. This only angered Sirius more, causing him to send another handful of spells flying his way. Severus deflected each one with a simple movement of his hand.
“You think I’m lying?” Severus taunted. “Ask her yourself.”
Sirius gaze flicked over to Y/N for no more than a second before he continued raging spells in Snape’s direction.
Y/N finally shook herself from her frozen state.
“Sirius stop!” She yelled, watching him send endless curses Snape’s way.
Her friend took no notice of her, continuing to his battle with her lover.
Bored of remaining on defence, Severus finally threw a spell at Sirius. The marauder managed to deflect but stumbled back from the sheer force of the curse.
In an instant there were spells flying back and forth between the men while Y/N watched on helplessly from the side lines.
Seeing Sirius weaken against Severus’ power, had Y/N panicking that someone was truly about to be hurt. Knowing the two shared a sordid history, it was unlikely that either wizard would accept defeat before the other was forced to submit.
“Severus, please stop this.” She ran at him, pulling roughly on his robes to get his attention. “Stop!”
Distracted that Y/N might get caught in the crossfires of the duel, Severus attempted to push her behind him and out of the line of fire. But to no avail, the witch fought against his arm, refusing to surrender to his protection.
Y/N rounded on Severus, pushing roughly at his chest in a last-ditch effort to end the fight.
Despite being unable to hold off Snape’s spells for much longer, Sirius refused to give up without a fight; his spells coming in faster with each passing second.
Losing focus on the battle, Severus’ attention was taken over by trying to keep Y/N safe. Abandoning his wand, he gripped the woman by her wrists and dragged her to the side. Foolishly Snape did not consider that Black would not have the same concern for her safety and another spell headed in their direction. Snape pulled Y/N tight to his chest, covering her with as much of his body as he possible.
Severus winced as pain lashed across his arm. His now cut up sleeve becoming wet with blood.
“Severus.” Y/N yelped, grabbing onto his hand. “Are you hurt, let me see it.”
She took Snape’s arm in his examining the severity of his wounds. They were deep and showed no signs of clotting.
Sirius watched on from the other side of the room, panting breathlessly with exertion. Y/N spun on him, furiously.
“What the hell did you do?”
Sirius remained speechless.
“You shouldn’t have gotten in the way.” Snape snapped, regaining her attention.
“I was trying to stop you from hurting each other.”
“That worked out well, didn’t it?” He glared down at her.
“Stop it, Severus.” She warned, knowing he was trying to deflect from the fact he was hurt.
“I’m sorry.” He admitted, stroking her cheek with his good hand.
“He was telling the truth?” Sirius finally huffed, watching the scene unfold between the two.
“Sirius, I’m sorry. I wanted to tell you but-“
“Are you together?”
Severus and Y/N exchanged a hesitant glance.
“No.”
“Yes.” Y/N turned to Severus in shock.
“But Severus you said-“
“Forget what I said. I’ve spent all night watching what it looks like to have another man flirting with you because he thinks you’re single. I refuse to spend another moment watching that. You’re mine, Y/N, in every way that counts. And I want everyone to know it.”
“Do you mean it?” She looked up at him hopefully.
Severus nodded firmly, tucking that one rouge piece of hair behind her ear before bringing his mouth to hers.
“Then let’s go tell everyone. And maybe heal your arm while we’re at it?”
“Whatever you want.” He smiled.
Sirius may have gotten the upper hand in the duel, but ultimately it was Severus who was victorious in this battle.

Jegumas - Day 13: Party - 636 words - @noblehouseofgay
The annual Christmas party that James and Regulus had started hosting two years prior was full of every person they loved and cared about. Harry had already made his appearance before James and Regulus had put him to bed so they could have a night with their loved ones and be adults for a while. The record player had been charmed to take care of itself and they’d silenced Harry’s room and brought the baby monitor down so they wouldn’t disturb him but they could still hear him.
Sirius was in the middle of telling Pandora, Dorcas and Mary about his first Christmas at the Potters’ while Lily, Marlene, Barty and Peter stood off to one side talking lowly. Evan was talking to Remus, from the bits James caught it was about a book on some theory they’d both read and Regulus was talking to James’s parents off to the side. James stood there at the center of it all, reveling in the feeling the scene gave him. Their friends, their families, had blended together seamlessly.
Just then Regulus looked up and caught his eye, offering him a soft smile and a sudden urge overcame him. In mere moments he was standing so close to him he could feel the energy crackle between them, calling him home.
“Dance with me love,” he extended his hand and watched with glee as Regulus’s eyes rounded. His mom reached out for Regulus’s wine glass and nudged her son-in-law towards her son.
“Indulge us dear,” she whispered with a glimmer of something in her eyes James recognized as his mother’s brand of mischief. Regulus didn’t notice it however, his eyes were locked solely on James’s as he took his hand and followed him to the center of the room.
As they took their spots James heard the sudden stop of the music, shortly replaced by familiar piano notes he’d know in his sleep. His mischievous and wonderful mother had put on Songbird by Fleetwood Mac, the first song he and Regulus had danced to as a married couple. The short but impactful song had always felt to them like it was theirs. The lyrics spoke of a never ending and beautiful love, one full of promise and hope.
As the pair spun together with their eyes locked, James found himself softly singing the lyrics to Regulus while his eyes brimmed with tears. They lost themselves in the moment, time seemingly standing still around them for the short duration of the song, but to them it was a glorious eternity. When the song ended their gazes remained locked for a beat before everything filtered back into their awareness and they separated.
Around them those closest to them stood, watching them with soft smiles on their faces, Sirius’s eyes brimming with tears. They’d come so far to get to this moment, where their love could be open and pure, where everyone they loved could be under one roof and free from harm. A wailing over the baby monitor dissolved the moment, causing several people to move towards the stairs at once.
“I’ll get him,” James announced before anyone could make it too far. “Everyone, just enjoy the party, I’ll be back soon.”
He climbed the steps as everyone settled back into the party, laughter and music resuming. The noise followed him until he was safely sealed inside Harry’s room with the wailing infant. He picked up his son and soothed him, ensuring it wasn’t a dirty diaper that had woken him up.
“Your papa is stealing the show down there, he looks lovely tonight.” He whispered softly as he rocked his son. “I don’t know what we did to deserve him, little one, but I’ll be thanking my lucky star for the rest of my life for choosing me to love him.”

"oi, james!" sirius called his best mate and gestured for james to sit next to him as if he wasn't going to do that anyway.
"good morning, everybody," james smiled at his friendgroup, his eyes lingering on you a tiny bit longer than on anyone else, making your heart flutter and your cheeks to heat up. you glanced back Down on your plate in hopes to hide it.
"james," sirius spoke up again, "marry, kiss or kill; lily, marlene, y/n."
"well, we all know who'd he want to marry," marlene said in a low voice, only for you and lily to hear. lily snorted and you lightly elbowed her.
the girls were convinced that james fancies you just as much as you fancied him. however, you found that hard to believe that someone so perfect like him could like someone like you.
james frowned. "i don't like this game."
sirius rolled his eyes. "oh, come on, you just don't want to say it out loud so you don't hurt anyone's feelings." he tapped on his ear. "whisper it to me."
james lowered his head at the level of his best friend's ear and whispered his answer. you girls tried your best to read his lips but it was no use.
"oh." an amused look appeared on sirius's face and he looked at you. you stared back at him, trying to figure out what he was thinking.
come on, james. are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me?
——————————————————————
the gryffindor quidditch team won the cup.
just when it seemed that they were going to lose against hufflepuffs, james caught the snitch, making the score 250 - 260 for the reds.
you were never more proud of him than in that very moment. you jumped from your seat and yelled his name in a cheering tone, clapping so hard your hands almost hurt. like if he heard you, his brown eyes found yours in the crowd. he grinned and sent you a wink and a kiss. james was thanking you, you were his lucky charm.
that night, the gryffindors threw the biggest party ever. it was many student's last game at hogwarts so it was also a goodbye party. all of the team members were there and talked about the match and their time playing together in general.
quidditch wasn't your thing. you were the stereotypical ravenclaw and you'd much rather be in your bed, under cover and reading a book. but james practically begged you to be there. after all, it was thanks to you that they won. you knew that wasn't the truth but you couldn't say no to him and you were glad you didn't. he looked so happy and beautiful and you couldn't help but admire him.
"let's play truth or dare!" marlene's voice rang through the common room and every person there agreed.
"i think i'm gonna go back to my dorm, it's late," you yelled over the loud music into james's ear.
"nooo," james pouted and give you a puppy look, he got a hold of your hand. "you can't leave now. please? just stay here for ten more minutes."
you sighed. you hated how easily you'll do anything he says.
"alright," you said and let him drag you to the circle of people in the middle of the room. a lot of people had gone to sleep already or some could be found vomiting in the bathroom so there weren't a lot of you. you sat down next to each other and waited for the game to start.
marlene picked up an empty whiskey bottle and spun it around. it landed on mary and she groaned, knowing that her friend has some of the most. . . interesting questions and dares.
"mary," marlene grinned widely. "truth or dare?"
"truth."
the blonde took a few seconds to think of a question before asking, "the freakiest place you did it at."
"that would be. . . a bed of one of my dorm mates."
"what?" lily, alice and marlene asked in terror, each of them wondering whose bed was it.
mary smiled innocently. "my turn," she spun the bottle. and then, everyone glanced at the boy beside you. you let out a sigh of relief.
"jamie, truth o—"
"dare."
a devilish smile crept onto the girl's lips.
"kiss y/n."
your eyes went wide as the people around you let out an "oooooh".
"mary!" you hissed. "what the f—"
before you could finish your sentence, you were rudely interrupted.
he tasted of— well, alcohol. rum and coke, to be exact. but it didn't matter. he was kissing you, and your whole body was on fire, your heart rate raised to at least hundred more beats per minute and fireworks. it was maybe cliché, yes. but it was the truth.
before you could fully register what the hell was happening, he was pulling away, making your lips feel cold at the sudden loss of the warmth of his mouth.
his gaze shifted from your lips to your eyes.
"i imagined our first kiss differently," he spoke in a low voice so only you could hear, sounding disappointed. he reached for the bottle and spun it around so the game could continue.
you stared at him for at least ten more seconds. you couldn't believe what just happened and what he said after.
and you started to wonder that maybe, just maybe, he felt the same way.
——————————————————————
and in a blink of a crinkling eye, you were at sirius's and remus's apartment, sitting on james's lap in the living room. all of your boyfriend’s closest friends were there and just like any other saturday night, you had a film night. tonight, it was american pie.
james and you started dating only recently. it’s been a month,to be exact. so everything felt still really new. and you felt embarrassing for the fact that he still had the same effect on you like when you were bittersweet sixteen. it takes you back to the times when you used to admire him only from afar. but now, you get to kiss him. you get to touch him.
like, for example, he was just touching you. as you tried to stifle your sighs, everyone seemed to be paying a great attention to the film. except for you two, of course. you coud not focus when james was constantly placing kisses in the crook of your neck and your shoulders.  you could not focus when one of his hands was drawing on the skin of yourupper thigh. you could not focus when his hot  breath made you shudder.
“james,”  you sighed quietly. “you got to stop.”
“and why would i do that?” he whispered back.
you rolled your eyes playfully. “you’re horrible.”
he shrugged. “you love me.”
oh, you did.
out of the blue, he spoke louder, “guys, me and y/n are sorry but we’re pretty tired so we’re headed home.”
huh?
all of your friends looked at each other and than back at you, saying “suuuuureee” in union.
“james, why are we leaving?” you ran outside after him.
he turned around and smiled. “you already know.”
“aw, we’re horrible!” you pouted playfully. “we’re abandoning our friends to have sex.”
“i’m sure they understand,” he said as he opened the door of his car. “remus and sirius used to do that all the time.”
you burst out laughing and let him pull you to the back seat.
no one’s ever had you, not like him.

There isn’t a single doubt that James Potter loves you.
You’ve been attached at the hip since training broomsticks and pinky swears in Godric’s Hollow. You accidentally call a boy ‘Jam’ once because of your childhood speech apraxia, and he swears you’re meant to be his best friend.
“Don’t worry, I can be loud enough for the both of us, peanut!”
Like peanut butter and jelly, you two were a perfect match– and even better partners in crime. When James puts his mind to something, he sees it through. So even if you were honestly unable to string the words together, who were you to say no?
Technically it’s somewhat official too, by whatever imaginary power was bestowed upon the Potter’s house elf for your very elaborate backyard fantasy wedding the two of you had when you were seven. All of your parents were in attendance, along with your cat and you all had blueberry cupcakes after your first and only kiss.
“Miss Mippy pronounces you huzbind and wife!”
Giggles are heard all around as the tiny elf tripped on her way off the stool, knocking both your heads together. James lost a front tooth that day, but he grinned for the pictures your mothers took anyway. Without a doubt, he loves you.
There wasn’t anyone at Hogwarts who would expect one of you to be present without the other following behind. You never had to hold back your smart mouth because James was always willing to finish your fights. The both of you were a package deal, with your number of protectors growing once Remus, Sirius, and Peter came along. It was not a routine you both consciously established, but rather second nature to be in each other’s lives. Like how you always made sure his glasses were clean before quidditch matches and he’d chuck his extra jersey at your face for you to wear.
“Stay warm during the game okay? I’ll see you later, love you!”
He skated around your waist, blowing a raspberry onto your cheek as he grabbed his glasses from your fingers.
“Don’t fall off your broom. Love you too, loser.” You’re already tugging his jersey over your head, inhaling his signature scent of broom polish, cinnamon, and Sleakeasy’s hair potion.
James smiled at you softly, before running to meet up with his team. After Gryffindor won again, he threw you over his shoulder and you laughed and yelled that he smelled like sweat. He always tucked you in his bed after parties, wrapping you in his arms once the lights go out. Without a doubt, he loves you.
Your friendship is stronger than most romantic relationships, and as your teenage years fly by, both of you realize how rare that is. He often took you to the kitchens to eat vanilla sundaes after boys broke your heart (and they got black eyes to match, courtesy of him and the entire Gryffindor Quidditch team) and you would listen to him, building him up and calming him down through years of pining over a certain Lily Evans. You were there for each other through everything, silly crushes, secret trysts, boring detentions, and highly esteemed accolades. If there ever were such a thing as soulmates, you knew it had to be him, even if it was platonic. Just being around someone as vibrant as James made you consider yourself lucky.
You once saw your best friend with his head in his hands on your way to a date—he was moping after a nasty prank on Snape went wrong; it ended in Lily crying and after defending her albeit quite boisterously in true James fashion, he still didn’t get the girl.
He gets up to see you walking down the corridor to meet him halfway, and before you even speak he rubs his eyes, posture shrinking as his towering frame melts into your embrace.
“Don’t know why I thought it’d be different this time,” he mumbles, and you gladly carry the weight of his heart.
“Let’s go swimming in the Black Lake, ” you say suddenly, rubbing his broad back in small circles.
“But peanut, you have a date in an hour! You’re all dolled up and pretty...”
“I’ll have more dates. You need me right now, jelly. I’ve got you.” His nickname makes you blush a little more than you should sometimes, so you only ever pull it out as a trick up your sleeve to make him feel better.
“Love you,” you whisper, brushing through the hair at the nape of his neck.
He breathes easily for the first time in hours, mouth curling up from its frown when he sees you walk straight into the lake water with your nicest clothes on, not even hesitating for a moment. Without a doubt, he loves you.
When James puts his mind to something, he sees it through. So years later, when your best friend asks you if you could go wedding ring shopping with him to propose to the love of his life, who were you to decline? I mean, who else would go with him?
“Come on, (Y/N). I need my best girl with me to make the biggest decision of my life.” he’s practically moaning, the man ever so dramatic as he’s sprawled across your couch.
“And why aren’t you dragging Sirius with you again?”
Your eyebrow is raised as you stand at his feet, lifting his burly legs for you to place yourself under and get comfortable.
“What does Sirius know about women? He’d tell me to get the shiniest one and leave!” James’ yells into your throw pillow, anguished at the thought. You pull it off his face, before he quietly admits, “I just want to get it right.”
“When are we going?” you answer, without missing a beat.
Later that week, the saleslady recommends a wide array of glimmering engagement bands, none of which are for you. But you let yourself fall into the fantasy of the what-ifs, flashing back to your flower crown and candy ring wedding, wondering if it could’ve been you getting proposed to by him in another life.
“Would you like to try a few on?” the saleslady asks, assuming you two are together.
“Show me and my girl your best. No price limit.” he grins.
And how dare she assume that, as he puts his head on your shoulder, whisking you around the store to look at stunning rings, fingers brushing, and the both of you being able to communicate clearly with no words spoken. James plays along with the saleslady, finally choosing a whimsical-looking diamond setting placed upon your left ring finger. You remind yourself it’s not yours. Your heart comes to a screeching halt and you can’t help but feel all of a sudden like he’s being mean.
After all, he’s not yours, not really.
There is a little bit of doubt now and a weird tightness in your chest that makes you think of the possibility that you’re in love with James Potter.
Like a good best friend, you help him plan his proposal. James’ love is loud, pulling all the stops, and preferring the grandest of gestures.
“James, you are not proposing to Lily with a flash mob.”
“But it would be so cool! After all, my heart dances every time I see her face.” he wiggles his eyebrows as he takes a sip of his butterbeer.
“Your heart might, but you, unfortunately, are the worst dancer I’ve ever seen.” You laugh, reaching over to tug the quill out of his hand, crossing it off his list. He pulls you into a headlock, kissing the side of your face teasingly.
“What would I ever do without you, peanut?”
You wipe James’ spit off your cheek, pushing his face away, blushing from his attention.
“Combust, probably.”
Your heart is dancing now too, and you realize that there isn’t a single doubt that you’re in love with your best friend.
You keep yourself busy in the month before his proposal. It hurt learning too many details, such as what flowers he wanted to order to bring out her eyes (pink and yellow tulips), and scouting out the perfect location on the beach he picked (next to the lighthouse you and him visited as kids), even down to how he’d convince Lily to wear white without being suspicious (honestly he just expected you to do him a favor for this one). But after seeing each other almost every day for more than half your life, he knew something was off when you became distant.
James shows up at your apartment, his key in hand, but he decides to knock anyway. The sound of the TV is muffled, lowering in volume until he hears your footsteps pad over to the door and it swings open. You’re in one of his old Quidditch sweaters and fluffy blue socks.
“Hey. Wasn’t expecting you to come by.” You smile timidly, as he leans against the doorframe peering down at you.
“Never used to have to tell you.”
“James...” you stutter, before awkwardly opening the door completely. He shuffles towards the couch, keeping his shoes on as he sits at the end, and there’s a certain tension in the air that frightens you. You’re not sure if you’ll come out of this one unscathed.
“Talk to me (Y/N). What’s been going on with you? You don’t answer my calls, you don’t write back, hell, I haven’t seen you in a month because you started deadbolting your door. Did I do something?”
Yes, James Potter. Ever so blunt and to the point, your favorite person in the world is sitting on your couch uncomfortable with the fact that you’re not comfortable around him anymore.
You fight back against your instincts to tell him what’s wrong, but the three words escape your mouth before you can even take a breath.
“I love you.”
It’s silent. The floor creaks as you shift your weight onto your other leg. You lock eyes with him for the first time that night, and so many things are going through your head that you hope he’s able to pick up on how you’ve been physically aching, carrying the weight of his love for Lily for years.
James looks like he’s about to shake his head, and you beat him to it. You don’t want pity, and he knows that, but he mutters a consolation into the air.
“It’ll pass.”
No, it won’t. Not this.
You think he knows that too. He smiles sadly, watching you turn shrinking into yourself. You never were good at thinking before you spoke. A tear drips down your cheek as you look at your socks again. Your love for him is too big and too loud for your chest cavity to handle. This love feels like dramatic choral music clashing and banging around in your ribs.
“I’m—”
“Don’t apologize. This one’s on me,” you say, stopping him before he finishes speaking.
Without a doubt, James Potter loves you. But he’s not in love with you.
“What I was going to say...is that I’m going to have to ask you not to show up to the engagement party. It’ll be better for the both of us. We can start again from there if you want... Peanut...”
The term of endearment hangs in the air. Your dancing heart was a ticking time bomb after all. The fragments hit your insides, tearing you apart as it combusts, and you realize that nothing will be the same after this.
James stands abruptly, shoving his hands in his pockets. He hesitates before he kisses your temple, and for some reason, this feels like a goodbye. After all, when James sets his mind on something, he sees it through. He’s been set on Lily for years.
You’re his best friend, he swears. And there are no words you can think of to deny that.
The End
“I don’t know what to say,” he said.
“It’s okay,” she replied. “I know what
we are— and I know what we’re not.”

Okay, that may be an absurd request. But isn't that what fan fiction is for after all?!
Tom Riddle / Voldemort's daughter!reader and Sirius balck. I need a violent(!) love-hate relationship. (A spoiler for you about my current love life:))
If it's okay for you to write, I'd love to read from you.
And if possible, I would prefer Sirius who graduated from Hogwarts, maybe never sent to Azkaban or just released. It is a pleasure to read a little in adulthood.
Thank you very much in advance 🤍🤍🤍
Hi! I hope your love life is going better (And seriously, if you need someone to talk to about your current situation, I'm here for you)
Idk how violent love-hate this is. I tried to do an enemies to lovers type of thing? Hopefully you enjoy this ❤︎ ❤︎ ❤︎
It's set post-war, James and Lily are dead and Sirius is raising Harry w/ Remus.
Blood is(n't) everything
Sirius Black x Riddle!reader
4.5k words
cw: angst, hurt/comfort, the tiniest bit of fluff, discussion of war, drinking
You knew from the moment you were born that you had Helga Hufflepuff’s blood running through your veins. Your mother was the niece of Hepzihab Smith, who constantly bragged about being a Hufflepuff descendant. You should have been a shoo-in for Hufflepuff when you arrived at Hogwarts. Imagine everyone’s surprise when you got sorted into Slytherin.
I guess blood isn’t everything, you mused time and time again.
You felt very at home in Slytherin. People seemed to get you. Part of you felt slightly bad that you agreed with the ones that said “Better than Slytherin than Hufflepuff if you ask me.” Hufflepuff, despite being family, felt soft and you were anything but.
Voldemort’s main rise to power occurred while you were in school. You paid attention to who agreed with his beliefs and who didn’t. Knowing where people’s beliefs and loyalties laid, all while keeping yours close to your chest, allowed you to be on good terms with a wide variety of people.
But as Voldemort gained more and more followers, you grew more curious about him. It took a bit of digging and research. You found out when he might’ve attended Hogwarts and from a meticulously careful conversation with Professor Slughorn, you discovered his real name. A name he stopped going by. Tom Riddle.
That might not mean anything to any of your peers, but it did to you. Your mother had mentioned your father to you a handful of times, saying how charming he was and how kind he was to visit her aging aunt. Tom Riddle was your father and that made you a descendant of Slytherin, just like he was.
Maybe blood is everything.
---
Years passed and your father fell at the hands of James and Lily Potter. The ministry tried rounding up all of the known Death Eaters. Anyone with the mark would be put away. Lucky for you, you never took the mark. Your name was enough. You hadn’t taken part in some of the more heinous activities, but your connection to your father’s followers was obvious. You had worked to convince uncertain witches and wizards that blood status meant everything.
Now that Voldemort had fallen, you returned to holding your beliefs close to your chest again. You found a job that was able to ignore whatever past you had with the Dark Arts and while some did remember your part in upping Voldemort’s numbers, you were able to move on with your life. For the most part, that is.
“How the hell did trash like you manage to stay out of Azkaban?” Sirius drawled from behind where you sat at the bar.
You clicked your tongue as you looked over your shoulder. You had hoped for a quiet night. A few drinks at the bar and then off to bed. That was your plan.
“Black, lovely. Can’t say I know what you mean though.”
“We all know about your connection to your father.”
“Being born isn’t enough to lock someone up.”
“It should be,” he sighed, moving closer to the bar to signal the bartender to pour him a drink. “Although, you did more than be born.”
“No one can prove I did anything to be locked up over.” You took a sip of your drink. “Say, how is the Potter boy? You and that half blood are taking care of him now that his mummy and daddy are in the ground?”
Sirius’ face immediately burned. He tipped the bottom of your cup upward so your drink spilled all over your lap. You hummed nonchalantly, waving your hand over yourself to dry your clothes.
“Classy, Black. Real classy.”
“You have no right to talk about the Potters,” he hissed.
“Another one, sir,” you called to the bartender and then turned your gaze back to the man standing next to you. “Why’s that?”
“You damn well know why.”
“I mean, technically, they killed my father so me and that boy got something in common, don’t we?”
Sirius looked like he was about to punch you. The bartender came to your rescue though, handing you another cocktail and Sirius his shot. He threw it back and immediately asked for another.
“But speaking of families… How are Regulus and Walburga? Haven’t heard from either recently.”
“Regulus is… he’s dead,” Sirius said firmly. “And Mother, who the hell knows or cares. Why were you in contact with her?”
“Shame about Regulus. I liked ‘im,” you replied, not answering Sirius’ question.
The answer was actually quite innocent. You had wanted to talk to her about being a well-positioned woman in a noble family and Regulus had connected you.
“Just another casualty to blame on your family,” Sirius grumbled, tossing back the second shot.
“You seem to have a lot of thoughts on the matter. Care to sit and talk about it?” you asked, your tone mocking.
You really didn’t expect Sirius to sigh and then take the stool next to you. Despite not being vocal about your beliefs in school, you and Sirius never really got along. You were a Slytherin afterall and he hated each and every one in your house, even Regulus. There had been one kiss between the two of you — that game of spin the bottle was the end of your participation in party games. And then after school, you really went your separate ways. So to say that you and Sirius weren’t even really acquaintances would be correct.
“You helped tear apart families. Innocent people were killed. Over what? Purifying wizardkind?” he snarked before ordering a whiskey.
A sipping drink, you thought, that means he’s going to sit here.
“I don’t expect you to understand,” you said. “Loyalty to family and all.”
“Please, if you really knew my family… You would’ve left too. Actual Slytherin families are far worse than the Hufflepuffs who raised you.”
You shook your head. “For someone who preaches not judging, you are quick to judge.”
“What?”
“Not all Slytherins are the same, which you should know. I’ve heard about Andromeda.” You swirled your drink before taking a slow sip. “But if you think home was all sunshine and roses, especially after my sorting, you’re well mistaken.”
“S’pose that would’ve been disappointing for your mum.”
You gave a dry laugh. “A bit, yeah. Even after I reminded her that my dad was in Slytherin.”
There’s a few moments of silence between you as you each work on your drink. You are both thinking back to your sortings and the letters from home that followed. Disappointment emanated from each stroke of ink. You weren’t where you were supposed to. You managed to stray from your blood — well, you didn’t stray from your blood but at the time, you thought you did.
“He wouldn’t have been a loving father, you know,” Sirius said.
“And you’d know that?”
Sirius nodded.
“How do you reckon you and your friend are doing?” you asked, beginning with genuine curiosity. Then a twisted part of you continued, “Going to throw him to the streets if he doesn’t get sorted into Gryffindor?”
Sirius let out a long, deep sigh. You assumed he was regretting sitting down. You didn’t need to know Sirius all that well to be able to press his buttons. He was simply that predictable.
“He has so much crimson and gold in his blood-” Sirius started to say, but you cut him off.
“You’d have me believing that blood doesn’t mean shit, though!”
“Listen here, you little bitch.” His patience was running thin.
“I will if you commit. Does blood mean everything or not? Because if it does, then your boy’s a Gryffindor and I can be damned for being a Riddle but all those little mudbloods taint wizardkind. If it means nothing, then I’m innocent and you can be whoever you want to be.”
“You’re damned because you preached He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named’s agenda.”
“I’m damned for worse things,” you said with a wicked grin adorning your lips. “You know, those things no one can prove were me.”
Suddenly, Sirius whipped his wand out and had it pressed against your throat under your chin. His eyes bore into yours. You showed no fear, your grin only widened.
“What’re you going to do? Curse me? Hex me? Kill me?”
“I oughta…”
“Oi! Take it outside!” the bartender yelled.
You smirked, placing a few galleons on the counter.
“On me, Black.” You stood up, Sirius’ wand moving with you. “You heard the man. This is a respectable business. If you have issues with me, we’ll take it outside.”
You turned your back on Sirius and made for the door. You looked back at him. He stood unmoving by the counter where you left him. You rolled your eyes.
“Come on, pretty boy. Or do I need to insult you some more?”
Sirius narrowed his eyes in your direction, but he followed you anyway. Once outside, you led him into an alley.
“I feel like you’re going to murder me back here…” he muttered.
You kicked over a crate so that it was a good height for you to sit on. Sirius, however, chose to remain standing. He did lean against the grimy wall with a steady grip on his wand.
“If anyone’s being murdered out here, it’s me. Trust me, you’re not the only one who’d like to see me six feet in the ground.”
“If you really think I’d kill you, why did you insist I come out here with you?”
“Because I don’t think you’ll do it. You don’t have it in you. Not in cold blood. If we were dueling, then maybe. But if I’m sitting here, looking pretty with my wand tucked away, I’m perfectly safe with you.”
Sirius frowns. He doesn’t retort with anything because he knows you’re right. Yes, you were the daughter of the man who killed two of his best friends. Yes, he knew you did horrid things, but you were right that no one could prove you did anything more than preach the inferiority of muggleborns. He couldn’t justify killing you.
You tilted your head as you viewed Sirius in the alley’s low lighting.
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re a waste of pureblood?” That genuine curiosity had returned.
“All the time. Right up there with being told I’m a disappointment and a stain on the Black name. But, do tell, why do you think I’m a waste?”
“You don’t seem to want to settle down and have a family.”
That caught Sirius off-guard. He had more-or-less settled down to raise Harry, but besides the little boy and Remus, he didn’t have any desire for a family. His hadn’t given him that want and he had found that he could live without it.
“You’re pretty. You have good blood in you, whether you acknowledge it or not. I hear plenty of people actually like you. You’re just like a few moral standards short of being the perfect bachelor.”
“Like you know anything of moral standards…”
You stood up and walked over to Sirius. You stood right in front of him, close enough to feel his whiskey-scented breath. You dragged the backside of your hand down his cheek.
“Just because my morals are different than yours doesn’t mean mine don’t exist.”
“Yet you just said mine didn’t-”
“No, I didn’t. I said you were short,” you corrected him, cutting him off again. “You could… raise them. Higher standards are what you need. Then you’d surround yourself with better people.”
Sirius gave your shoulders a push to make you step away from him.
“I’m only surrounded by the lowest of the low when I’m around your kind,” he spat.
“Those willing to do anything for their families?”
Sirius didn’t give any warning. He slashed his wand, sending you flying backwards into the crate you had been sitting in earlier.
“You can’t preach doing anything and having morals at the same time, sweetheart,” he snarled, slowly approaching where you laid in the splintered wood.
“I disagree,” you groaned. You reached for your wand and a quick wave had flames shooting out of it.
Sirius jumped out of the way, but it gave you a moment to rise to your feet.
“Sometimes-” You sent more flames out of your wand, causing Sirius to jump out of the way. “-you have set aside-” More flames and he deflected. “-what some consider good so that you can have a moment-” Flames singed the edges of Sirius’ clothing. “-with your absent father.”
“Fathers aren’t worth it!” He shot a geyser of water in your direction.
“Then you haven’t properly longed for one.” Enchanted ropes wrapped themselves around Sirius’ feet and he fell to the ground.
Another wave of your wand had his being ripped from his hands. You caught it with ease.
“Your little Order didn’t teach you to duel all that well, did it?” you cooed as you stood over him. Now with his wand in your hands, the ropes bound his hands as well. “You should really consider your opponent before you engage, Black.”
Then you sat just out of his reach. You knew better than to sit too close, even with his extremities bound, Sirius could do damage to you.
“You’re sitting?”
You nodded. “I offered to talk inside and you’re the one bringing magic into it all. Figured maybe you do want to talk, but you’re too hot headed to do so civilly.” You paused before adding thoughtfully, “Orion got that way.”
“I’m nothing like my father,” Sirius snarled.
“Oh, don’t say nothing. You two are plenty alike. Just… aligned differently.”
“The fuck does that mean?”
“How do I say this in a way that won’t piss you off more?” You clicked your tongue as you thought, taking your time as if to prove to Sirius that this interaction was now on your time. “Your family likes the cosmos, right? Think of it like this: you each have your north star that you follow. Or you’re both looking for the brightest star but you have different hemispheres.” You tilted your head as you tried to study Sirius’ expression. “I’m sure he thought he was raising you the right way in the same way you think you’re raising the Potter boy the right way.”
“My father didn’t care for me or Regulus.”
“Au contraire, Black. You should know that he absolutely adores Regulus. And as stubborn as you were, he loved you until you got sorted into Gryffindor and made a bigger mess than he could clean up.”
“How would you know that?”
“Oh, did you not know I’ve been for tea for Walburga several times? And Orion likes to have a few after, as you should know.”
“I’m aware… Bit weird you had tea with my mother though…”
You shrugged. “I needed advice.”
“You?” Sirius scoffed. “You needed advice?”
“Never claimed to know it all.”
“You sure act like it.”
“And you act like the most righteous person in the ally, yet you cast the first spell.”
Sirius didn’t respond and you didn’t continue. You twirled your wand in between your fingers. You could feel Sirius watching your dexterity. You wanted him to be the next one to talk. He clearly had more to say to you, but he remained silent.
After a few minutes of nothing, you sighed and waved your wand to unbind Sirius. He rubbed his wrists immediately after. You were surprised that he didn’t reach for his wand right away. He did after a few moments and adjusted himself so he was sitting across from you.
“Is it lonely for you?” you asked in a soft voice. “Living in the aftermath of the war.”
Sirius blinked slowly. Your words sank in slowly.
“I… I lost a lot of friends, but I wouldn’t say I’m lonely. The survivors, we make do. We’re there for each other. I have Remus. The Weasleys. Dumbledore when I need him. Mad-Eye Moody is a character. We support each other.” He stared at you. “Are you lonely?”
“Didn’t live my life for friends. And the friends I did have? Dead. Apparently all of them. Or Azkaban.” You chuckled softly. “Bit sad, innit?”
“You chose that life.”
“I chose chasing a family who, I should’ve known this, didn’t want me. And I chose protecting myself. Chasing family and being safe shouldn’t leave me alone.”
“I chased a family and I protected myself,” Sirius said. “It was a chosen family, rather than blood. And I protected others in addition to myself. That’s how you don’t end up alone.”
“Yeah, well, it’s too late for me.” You sighed and then looked at Sirius. “You have your wand. Why don’t you get it over with or leave me alone?”
Sirius shook his head. “I don’t think you should be alone right now. I disagree with you on so much, but… the life of a disappointing family is something I’m far too familiar with.”
“If you hadn’t put a wand to my throat, I’d say let’s go back inside and get a drink,” you said dryly.
Then Sirius stood up and extended his hand. “There are other bars, Smith. Next one’s on me.”
You found a different bar. The two of you sat, drank and discussed the war and everyone you lost to it. You talked about being disappointed in your father’s reaction to your existence and wanting to be worth something to him. Sirius listened, nodding. He got where you were coming from, even if he sorely disagreed with everything Tom Riddle stood for. Sirius loved pissing his family off, being everything they hated, but he knew that life wasn’t for everything. Some people needed that feeling of acceptance. Hell, even he did and he found that in the Potters.
When the night came to its end, Sirius said, “You know, you don’t have to be quite so lonely.”
“What do you mean?”
“Saturday. Hippogriff’s Nest at eight?”
“Are you asking me on a date?” you asked with a sly smile. You knew he wasn’t.
“Yeah, right,” he said sarcastically. “I’m offering a conversation and some drinks. Between… acquaintances?”
“Yeah, alright.” Your answer wasn’t sarcastic.
Sirius nodded and disapparated. You followed suit after one more drink.
It was the start of a pattern. Every few nights, you’d meet with Sirius to talk about anything and everything. You discussed childhoods and your years at school. Your singular kiss came up briefly, and you’re not sure who wanted to change the subject quicker. Sometimes one of you would go too far with an insult and spells would be exchanged. That was why you rarely visited the same bar twice; you weren’t sure if you’d be let back in.
Slowly but surely, you felt the acquaintanceship melt into something fonder. You started to consider Sirius as your friend. You personally disliked how you really should’ve considered him your best friend, given that many of your other friends were people you almost never spoke to anymore.
---
“Padfoot, what the bloody hell is this?” Remus demanded as he threw the Daily Prophet down in front of him.
“That’d be the newspaper, Moony,” Sirius said casually.
“What’s in the paper?”
Sirius glanced down momentarily. “You got it open to Skeeter’s gossip section. That’s rubbish and you know it.”
“Read it,” Remus hissed.
With a roll of his eyes, Sirius looked down at the paper again. This time reading the headline, “FAMILY TIES?”, and seeing the picture of you and him, both of you looking at each other and moving with an air of affection. Sirius turned bright red and couldn’t look at Remus. He hadn’t told his cohabitor that he had been meeting with you.
“You know I wouldn’t normally believe anything she writes, but that?” Remus pointed to the picture. “That is pretty damning, Pads. You know who she is.”
“I do,” Sirius muttered.
“Then tell me what the fuck this is? How do you explain this?”
“It’s a drink. People tend to get them at bars.”
“And the picture? You talked to her? At least help some kind of conversation with her? How were they able to get this picture?”
Remus sounded exasperated. As he should, Sirius thought.
“Sit down, Remus,” he said, trying to maintain his own composure. He wasn’t ready to explain everything to his best friend just yet. When Remus took a seat, Sirius continued, “I’m giving her a second chance.”
“She doesn’t deserve one.”
“Remus, listen. We’ve been talking-”
“Ugh!”
“I knew you’d react this way. That’s why I didn’t tell you! I know what she’s done, what she’s supported-”
“Who she’s related to!” Remus exclaimed bitterly.
“Who she’s related to. But you know she can choose her blood as much as I can.”
“I can’t believe you’re defending the Dark Lord’s daughter. Imagine what James would say!”
“He would question me. He’d be on your side. He’d be bloody furious at me. I have every reason to hex her into next millenia. And yet, I can’t help it. I’m giving her a second chance and she has yet to blow it.”
“When she blows it, she’ll take you down with her.”
“It’s not a when, Moony. It’s an if and I don’t think she will.”
“It’s your own damn funeral.”
“I know.”
Remus held his head in his hands for a minute, too upset and frustrated to even look at Sirius.
“How long have you been seeing her?” Remus asked the table.
“We’ve been getting drinks for a few months now, if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Months? Padfoot!”
“Like I said, she hasn’t burned me yet.” He paused and chuckled to himself. “Well, she’s burned my clothes.”
Remus’ head snapped up. “What?”
“We’ve dueled. Several times. She’s a big fan of fire curses.”
“Merlin’s fucking beard. You’re drinking with someone who’s trying to literally burn you?”
“She tries to burn me, I try to bleed her out,” Sirius said with a shrug.
Remus was infuriated with how casual he was acting about it.
“She’s the bloody daughter of the Dark Lord and you’re… you’re… you’re…”
“Helping her move on from her past.”
“I can’t… I can’t with you right now.”
Remus got up from the table and walked away. Sirius remained in the kitchen and read the column about you and Sirius. He knew so much of it was exaggerated and misinterpreted. He was certain that you had never leaned in close enough to kiss him that entire night. He rolled his eyes at the article. But he kept looking back at the photo. The photo’s version of him was looking at you with an inexplicably fond gaze. And you were returning it.
Had he been looking at you like that? Had you been looking at him like that? Why did he feel like he needed to know?
It gave Sirius something to think about before he saw you again a few days later.
You met at the bar, like you usually did. You ordered your drinks. You told him about your day at work. He told you about Harry’s latest neighborhood adventures. It was a normal conversation.
Then Sirius cleared his throat.
“Did you see Rita Skeeter’s article?” he asked tentatively.
You shook your head with a frown. “With a family like mine? No, I tend to avoid the gossip section. I’m surprised you don’t.”
“Oh, I usually avoid it. Erm, Remus pointed out an interesting article to me. It’s all gossip, but still… interesting.”
You bit the inside of your cheek and tilted your head. “Interesting how?”
“Just… eye-opening, I guess,” Sirius said.
He put some coins on the counter and took your hand. “Come with me.”
You didn’t protest despite your confusion. You let Sirius lead you out of the bar and into the alley.
“Decided to finally kill after all?” you teased, thinking back to when Sirius first ran into you.
Instead of answering your question, Sirius slammed you into the wall. It was rougher than he intended, knocking the wind out of you. You tried to reach for your wand, but Sirius grabbed your wrist and pinned it to the wall next to your shoulder.
“I need to try something,” he whispered.
He stared into your eyes for a second. Then he brought his lips to yours, barely brushing against them. You could feel him take a shaky breath. His lips pressed against yours with more force. Your body responded before you could get over your shock. You were kissing Sirius with more fervor than he was kissing you. His hand that wasn’t holding your wrist gripped your waist and your free hand made its way to his hair.
When he pulled back, you made a desperate attempt to recapture his lips, but he moved away from you with his whole body. You stood against the wall as he stepped into the middle of the alley. He ran one hand through his hair and the other down his face.
“Fuck…” he whispered to himself.
You watched him, confused. First he pulled you out of the bar and into the alley to kiss you and now he was acting like he just messed something up.
“What, Black?” you asked, your voice cutting through the darkness. “You got to talk to me. This ain’t Hogwarts.”
“Fuck…” he swore again, mostly to himself before turning to you. “It was better than the one at Hogwarts.”
You didn’t respond. You were unsure if you should say anything, because what Sirius just said didn’t really answer your question. Why was he so upset?
“The article. Skeeter’s gossip. It was about us. And the article was utter bullshit. But the picture… the fucking picture…”
“The picture made you want to kiss me?” you asked, disbelieving.
“The way I looked at you in the picture,” he corrected, his voice dropping lower. “I shouldn’t look at you like that, but…”
“But you do?” you asked softly.
“Yeah, I fucking do. And I shouldn’t. Everything says I shouldn’t.”
“Right,” you said. You sounded hurt and a bit bitter. Which you had every right to sound. After everything you talked about and how much time you were spending together, you thought Sirius had moved on from some stuff. Apparently not. “So you look at me. And you kiss me. Yet you want nothing to do with me. I get it, Black, I do. I got Riddle blood and that’s an end all.”
You didn’t wait for him to respond. You just disapparated on the spot to your flat. Sirius stared at where you had been standing. He wasn’t done talking to you. He wasn’t done processing what he was feeling. And now you were gone.
He can’t even follow you as he doesn’t know where you live. He figures that maybe he could send you an owl. Those birds can find anyone.
Sirius disapparated himself, appearing in his kitchen. He grabbed a bottle of whiskey and decided to drink the whole thing in the solitary of his room. All he wanted was to forget the look of hurt on your face when you said “I get it, Black, I do.” It took him no time at all to finish the bottle and pass out in his bed. His thoughts were plagued with your hurt expression and that bled into nightmares. As it turned out, Sirius cared for you more than he wanted to admit to himself and now he had to somehow undo the damage he did to you.
Blood isn’t everything. And Sirius knows that more than anyone. Now, he needed to remind you of that.

Prompt 3 - Hydrate
@wolfstarmicrofic March 3, word count 521
“Sirius, you need to drink something,” Regulus barked at him when he’d found Sirius sprawled out on the grass in their back garden.
“I’m good thanks,” he’d mumbled. The warmth of the sun seeping all the way into his soul. Since he and Regulus had run away from their childhood home, Sirius had spent as much time outside in the sun as possible, his skin was more tanned than it had ever been, and his black hair had light brown tones to it now.
A bottle of water hit him square in the stomach.
“Hydrate you moron,” Regulus said in his usual drawl. It made Sirius sad that Regulus was still so cold even after they’d both got out of that hellhole.
“Come join me,” Sirius requested as he twisted the lid off the bottle of water and drained three quarters of it in one gulp. With a lot of moaning, Regulus finally agreed, but only for a few minutes. He was in the middle of a very interesting article on his computer.
Sirius watched his brother out of the corner of his eye and saw the moment Regulus relaxed into the warmth. His face lost all the worry lines that had been etched into it since they were children and his features softened, giving Sirius a glimpse of what Regulus might have been if they’d had a normal upbringing.
“Aww, don’t you two look adorable,” Remus cooed as he flopped onto the grass beside Sirius and leant over him to give him a kiss. “You alright, darling? Not having a bad day?” Remus asked him, his voice full of concern. That was a new thing for both of the brothers. Neither had heard a tone like that before, and it had taken Sirius and Regulus both a while to understand that Remus actually meant it.
“Good day, just enjoying the sun while I can,” Sirius beamed at him. He never thought he’d get so lucky, but then Remus had come along and blown him away, and Regulus liked him, which meant he was a keeper.
“I am here against my will,” Regulus told Remus, but also didn’t get up or open his eyes.
“Sure you are, Reg,” Remus chuckled, as he laid out like the brothers were. “This was a good idea, Sirius,” he said quietly, and Sirius let out a healing sigh. At this moment, his life was perfect, and he sent up a silent prayer that it would continue just as it was.
Remus’s fingers brushed gently against his own and Sirius linked them together. Who would have thought even six months ago that he, Sirius Orion Black the third, would be lying outside in the sun of his own house with his little brother on one side and his sweet, loving, kinder-than-kind, boyfriend on the other. Not him, that’s for sure. He almost wished Walburga could see them now. She’d die of shock.
They spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden. Remus made sure they were all topped up with sunscreen and Regulus enjoyed throwing bottles of water at them and Sirius couldn’t stop smiling.

@jegulus-microfic / february 27: change / word count: 434
James doesn't particularly believe in coincidences, but when at 15, during the week his parents gave him a loose fitting bright red t-shirt with a Lightning McQueen print, he gets the top mark in an exam he didn't study for, found money he didn't remember he had in one of his jackets and won tickets to a Green Day concert, that's when his lucky t-shirt was born.
Since then, he uses it whenever the situation calls for it. Exams, new tricks with his skateboard, parties, amusement parks, and lots of other things. He even used it the day he helped his best friend to run away from his house to live with him. So it becomes common knowledge how important the tee is to James.
Four years later, during the warmest summer in recent memory, James is wearing the t-shirt that has faded slightly with the passage of time and no longer fits as loosely as it once did, when there is a knock on the door of the flat he shares with Sirius. Silver eyes and dark curls flood his vision and electrify his entire body.
A month later, the morning after Regulus' birthday party, who is trying to make up for the lost time with his brother, James overhears that in a couple of days he will be auditioning for a part in a film. His relationship with Regulus is... complicated, James tries his best to get him to like him, but the younger boy always seems to be displeased by his presence. Considering this, James doesn't know what possesses him when instead of changing into his lucky tee he decides to sneak it into the bag he knows belongs to Regulus. He barely passes his driving test that day but he is strangely happy.
James never mentions the t-shirt again but Regulus wears it under his jacket when he gets the part for his first important film.
He also wears it a week later when he asks a very surprised James out on a date.
He uses it again on the day they kiss for the first time.
Once again when Sirius tells him he loves him in the middle of a game of chess.
One more time when he spends his first night together with his boyfriend.
Then again every time he wins a new award (which is quite often).
And again under his suit at his wedding with James.
James realised that he doesn't need to be the one wearing the t-shirt to be the luckiest man in the world.
Regulus has never and probably never will watch Cars.

Little Talks Of Monsters and Men
Harry Potter x Reader (Platonic) / Remus Lupin x Reader (Ambiguous)
Masterlist
Summary: Harry Potter sees a familiar face on the train, from the mirror of Erised. Remus Lupin and harry talk about his mother, along with {Y/N} {L/N}. (This is a lot of rehashed scenes. Next chapter will be from {Y/N}'s Perspective.}
Cw: Use of {Y/N}, Dementor attack, grief, sassy Harry, depressed bish Remus (please reach out if I missed something}
Wc- 2180
“I didn't mean to blow her up! It just sort of... happened!”
Harry once again found himself explaining the same things he explained moments ago. It wasn't that he felt guilty... not exactly, he probably should, all things considered. But that old hag's shrill voice echoed in his head, and he could only find himself having a bit of pride at the moment.
“Brilliant.” Ron snickered, the smile in his voice very prominent. Harry could almost see it with his back to the red head.
“Honestly Ron, that's not funny. Harry was lucky not to be expelled!” Hermione huffed out as she shoved her way past him to catch up with Harry’s long strides.
“I think I was lucky not to be arrested.” Harry mumbled, slowly smirking to himself. Doing his best to avoid Hermione’s judgmental eyes.
“I still think it was brilliant.” Ron chuckled as he followed them down the hall. Harry paused as he noticed the only half empty room, with a sleeping figure. His eyes narrowed, why did his presence seem so familiar? It reminded him of that night, walking back to the dorms between flickering moonlight. That comfort he felt before, returning as he once again, saw the moon through the glass windows.
“Come on, everywhere else is full.” Hermione muttered after a moment of pause, watching Harry's confused and curious expression.
“Who's that, then?” Ron mumbled as he sat down on the seat closest to the window.
“Professor R. J. Lupin.” Hermione’s self-satisfied tone filled the now packed compartment. Harry pursed his lips. Never heard that name before.
Still, he found himself sitting beside the sleeping figure, across from Hermione, as both her and Ron’s voices faded out. Harry found himself staring at the lump of clothes that covered the professor.
“Do you know everything? How is it that she knows everything?”
“It's on his suitcase, Ronald.” She snarked and he muttered a soft ‘oh.’
Harry snapped out of his daze and leaned back, frowning at the sleeping figure. “Do you think he's really asleep?”
“Yes, I do think so.” She remarked calmly. “Why?”
“I have something to tell you.” Harry declared and slid the door closed.
~~
“Let me get this straight. Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban, to come after you?” Ron asked in a scandalized tone, eyebrows raised as he struggled to keep Scrabbers calm in his hand. Tutting before he slipped him away into his damaged cage and held his hand over the broken door he escaped from before.
“Yeah.” Harry mumbled.
“But they'll catch Black, won't they? I mean, everyone is looking for him.” Hermione declared, looking between the two with reassurance and determination in her eyes.
“Sure- Of course, but no one's ever broken out of Azkaban before and he's a raving, murderous lunatic…” Ron mumbled out in a bitter tone and Harry gave him a tight-lipped smile.
“Thanks, Ron.”
Then there was a sharp piercing sound of metal grinding against the iron of the train tracks, the engine falling to nothing but a murmur from within the box.
“Why are we stopping? We aren't there yet.” Hermoine mumbled and watched as Harry stood and peaked out the door.
“What's happened?” Ron asked as the train rocked and Harry was flown back to his seat by the sheer force.
“Dunno... Maybe we've broken down?”
The lights cut out.
There was a choking silence, so low and painful Harry’s ears almost began to ring. Then the cold came, voices could be heard outside the train. They were haunting and drawn like they were in too much anguish to utter a full statement, making Harry swallowed thick, trying to clear the back of his throat.
“ ... die. One by one. Until all is... “
“I think someone is coming aboard.” Ron croaked in dread. The entire train wobbled once more, the door swinging open before slamming shut. The haunting voices now fill the halls. They were like whispers, but somehow right against Harry’s ear.
There was a moment of peace before Ron’s breath hitched as he watched black tendrils float their way down the hall in front of their door. Like a floating cloth that tangled in the very air, thick with weary and terrified silence between the three.
Ron began to bunch himself onto the bench, giving a high-pitched inhale as the creature waved its hand in a gesture like motion, willing the door of their compartment to open without once touching it.
Everyone was silent, and Harry felt his hands begin to clam up. He shuffled back into his seat as best he could, as the creature lurked into the closed space, eyes locked on the raven-haired boy. Crookshanks hissed, and Scabbers began to freak out within the cage.
The creature suddenly leaned closer to Harry, and he felt his breath hitch, his entire body lurching forward in a silent but painful gasp. Harry grew dizzy, body growing weaker and his eyes slowly rolling back.
As if on cue, summoned awake by Harry’s loss of control, the sleeping professor snapped to his feet. Waving his wand as a blip of bright blue light filled the entire train car, just as Harry slipped under and fell to the floor.
~~
“Harry? Harry, please wake up.” Hermione’s pleading voice came, slowly rubbing his arm. His thoughts were split, As the shrill and horrible tone of screams that filled his dreams slipped into Hermione’s soft and caring voice. It brought him comfort.
Harry’s eyes snapped open wide, slowly he huffed and sat up, looking over at Hermione as she handed him his glasses, muttering a thanks as he slipped them back on his face.
“Here, eat this. It’ll help.” The professor called out to him in a stern but lively tone, holding out an unwrapped bar of chocolate. Harry didn't quite meet his eyes.
“What was that?” He mumbled out and ate the candy the stranger provided.
“A Dementor. One of the guards of Azkaban. It's gone now. It was searching the train.” He remarked before Hermione spoke up.
“For Sirius Black.” She rubbed his shoulder again and encouraged Harry as he munched the treat in his hand. Muggle candy, he would die on the hill of it being the best.
“I need to have a word with the driver. Excuse me.” Lupin mumbled and stood, Harry finally looking up at him to watch him go. When Lupin turned to nod to the trio, closing the door before him and wandering off, Harry’s face filled with shock and his jaw went slack.
“What is it, Harry? Don't tell us you've gone mad.” Ron snarked and Harry snapped out of it, looking over to Ron and Hermione, still stunned. “I... I've seen him before.”
“What? You have?” Ron pried.
“The Mirror of Erised.” Harry breathed and tried to shoot to his feet. That night, he saw his face. That man stood beside his father and who he now knew to be Sirius Black, along with another woman and the rest of his immediate family. “I saw him, he was with my parents. And... and Sirius!”
He quickly stumbled before he could even get to his feet, Hermione quickly getting him up right to sit. “You stay put; I know you're curious, but you were attacked by a dementor! You’ll see him at Hogwarts, I'm sure of it.” She tutted. Harry groaned and covered his face. He was too weak to argue.
“Well, what a fun first day.” Ron piped up with a nervous smile, eating at Harry's abandoned chocolate from his perch on the window ciel. Hermione rolled her eyes, and Ron ran his lip over his now brown stained face. “What?”
~~~
The next time Harry saw Professor Lupin outside of the classroom was when he faced his Boggart, once again, he saved him as he did on the train. He had been moping about, not allowed to go to the Hogsmeade trip, he spent his time wandering the grounds. Eventually, he ran into Lupin once more. Without a word to each other they fell into an easy and silent step beside each other, hands in their pockets as they made it out of the courtyard and onto the precarious bridge.
“Professor Lupin, can I ask you something?”
“Is this about me stopping that Boggart? I assure you; it was not out of a lack of belief in your ability to stop it. I assumed the worst, that it would take the form of Lord Voldamort.”
Harry nodded faintly before he thinned his lips in thought. “I thought of him first, yes, but... Then I remembered that night on the train.” He mumbled and Lupin nodded thoughtfully. He was so much like James, he thought, it looked like when the unruly kid he once knew was being scolded by Professor McGonagall. It brought a small sad smile to his face.
“That's quite impressive.”
Harry scoffed and gave him a weary smile. “Is it?”
“I'm being truthful.” Lupin patted him on the shoulder before leaning forward on the railing of the bridge, overlooking the lake. “It takes bravery, for one's fear to be fear itself. It’s wise of you.”
Harry slowly nodded and looked off into the distance as well, Lupin peeking at him for a moment before Harry spoke up once more. “Before I fainted... I heard something. A woman. Screaming.”
“Dementors force us to relive the worst memories of our lives. Our pain becomes their power.”
Harry took a deep breath before he spoke his next words, he wanted to give Lupin the chance to speak on his relationship with his parents first, before he pried. He wanted, no, needed to know. But he wanted to give him the choice to come forward first. “... i think it was my mother.” He admitted and Lupin took a deep breath before he sighed.
“The first time I saw you, Harry, I recognized you immediately.” He spoke carefully. “Not by your scar,” He leaned in. “As ever famous it may be.” He mused a bit of a playful tone, giving Harry a small smile and he nodded, encouraging Lupin to continue.
“It was your eyes.” He spoke next in a much more Solemn tone. “They were your mother, Lily’s.” He spoke carefully as to not provoke the frog that tore apart the lower base of his throat, begging for a sob of relief. “I knew her. I knew her better than I knew myself most days.”
He allowed himself to reminisce, thinking back on the days he spent at school, walking down the halls with Lily and her. He had known and allowed himself love, the brotherly kind that fills you with adrenaline and makes you make stupid decisions. The kind that would get you into trouble every other term for the risk of thrill with every new prank idea presented to them. He knew wild, fun, free love.
It wasn't until he met Lily Evans and {Y/n} {L/N} when he learned what gentle and quiet love could do. How powerful silence could be, how much a simple touch could mean, and how the looks shared between flickering eyes could be filled with so much more care and empathy than he ever knew. From silent study sessions to moments comforting him after a full moon, the two girls made him feel peace he had never known he could have, something he never thought he deserved. Knowing their love was the worst possible outcome, losing their love was the second. “Your mother. Your mother and... An old friend of mine, they were there for me when no one else was. I have never known kindness and power, until I met your mother. I had never known forgiveness and wisdom until she introduced me to {Y/n}.”
“{Y/N}?” Harry mumbled out the new name and looked to the professor as Lupin nodded. “Lily Evans and {Y/N} {L/N}. They were inseverable, if you spoke of one of them. the other wasn't far behind. Even their names chased each other through the halls. Much like me and... well, your father. There was no Lily Evans without {Y/N} {L/N}, and the reverse was also true. They had a way about them, a way and a sight that saw something no one else could see in someone. They saw wonders and lights in the darkest rooms, they gave forgiveness and compassion to those who deserve nothing close to it. And they saw a wizard in a monster.” Lupin muttered the last part and hung his head before he looked up at Harry’s wide curious eyes.
“A monster, sir?”
“A story for another time.” Lupin mused and sat up straighter. “Your father on the other hand, now he had a talent for trouble.” He nudged Harry before he put his hands back into his pockets. “Rumor has it he's passed it onto you.”
Harry couldn't help the small smile that grew onto his face at the remark. So, his father was a lot like him, it seemed. That made him feel warm.
He wished he could talk to Lupin all day.
"She was amazing. I mean, I’ve never met someone like her, you know? She’s just different in a good way.” He sighed.
After your last date, he couldn't stop thinking about you. Almost a week had passed, and your relationship was blossoming faster than he thought it would, but he certainly had no complaints. Now, he saw you nearly every day when you dropped off Molly at school. Somehow, he always managed to be nearby, and your eyes would meet unexpectedly, as if it was meant to happen. You exchanged messages a few times a day, and without fail, he always sent you a good morning and goodnight message, no matter what he was doing. Grading papers, going to bed? Not without sending you a "Goodnight, sweetheart. Hope you had a good day."
After all that happened, he wasn’t so shy anymore. Instead, he wanted to make you blush every time he saw you. You just looked so cute when your cheeks started to get red after a minute of him speaking without breaking eye contact.
"You dozed off again, mate” Sirius snapped him out of his lethargy with his irritated voice. "She got you wrapped around her finger, doesn’t she?” A smirk appeared on his face, when he saw how Remus’s eyes started gleaming.
Remus took a sip of his bear and leaned against the chair.
It was one of their favorite haunts, a cozy pub with dark wooden furnishings and a comforting, lived-in feel. The bubbling hum of conversation and the low strumming of a live acoustic guitar warmth the room.
"And you don't even notice," he added after a moment, his voice tinged with amusement.
"Maybe…but I don’t think I want to notice.” He chuckled.
The truth was, yeah. You got him wrapped around his finger, and it’s was scary, because he wanted more and more everyday, and it was a dangerous game to play.
"Give yourself a chance, Moony," he said, leaning forward on the table. "It's now or never. From what I've heard she's really something special. Girls like her don't come around often." He gave him a knowing smirk.
"Yeah, you should know something about it.” He snorted sarcastically.
"Oh come on, I sleep around because I didn’t found the one, yet, so don’t judge me, that’s my way to do this!”
Remus shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah, I know, Sirius. But maybe, just maybe, it's time to think about changing your ways."
Sirius raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Look who's talking. Mr. Commitment himself. Just because you've found someone special doesn't mean everyone's that lucky."
"True," Remus admitted. "But luck has nothing to do with it. Sometimes, it's about taking a chance."
Sirius took a long sip of his drink, pondering Remus's words. "Maybe you're right," he said finally, drifting off to his own thoughts for a second.
"But I’m giving this chance, definitely.” Remus said after a while, and then the two of them took a long sip of their beers.
"Cheers to that, then.”
"I’m giving this a chance, Marlene but I’m scared to make mistake, it’s so frustrating.”
You sat on your couch, talking on your phone with Marlene. You had been replaying the date over and over in your head, analyzing every little detail. Though you had genuinely enjoyed yourself, you couldn't help but feel a twinge of doubt. Then she called you. A true miracle for your sorrows.
Were you ready to start dating again? Could you balance a new relationship with the demands of being a mom? These questions swirled in your mind, refusing to be silenced.
"Girl, sometimes you think too much, just let go already! He’s a fine man, the most decent you’ll probably find ever, so where’s all this doubt coming from him?"
"It’s different, I have a daughter, and I don’t want her to suffer, when he decides I’m not the one.” Your lips quivered, and you wanted to cry.
She sighed, making a comfortable pause.
"Babes, I know it's scary, but sometimes it's worth it. Besides, didn't he make it clear on the date that he liked where this is going? Maybe you should just message him and see for yourself, maybe you should just talk to him, it’s a key to connection.”
"I just don’t want to mess this up, Marl," you whispered, rubbing your eyes with your fingers.
”And you won’t, trust me.”
The sound of small footsteps interrupted your thoughts. You looked up to see Molly standing in the doorway, clutching her favorite stuffed animal, a well-loved bunny named Floppy.
"Mommy, why are you still awake?" Molly asked in a sleepy voice, rubbing her eyes.
"I have to go, Molly just woke up.” you said, ending the call with a quick goodbye. You placed your phone on the coffee table and sighed.
Then, you managed a smile, patting the spot next to you on the couch. "Just thinking about grown-up stuff, sweetie. Come here, sweetie.”
Molly trotted over and climbed onto the couch, snuggling up next to you. “Is it about Mr. Lupin?" She whispered, rubbing her tired eyes.
Caught off-guard, you looked down at Molly, who gazed up at you with innocent curiosity. You hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, it is." You sigh.
Molly's face brightened. "I like him, Mommy. He's nice and tells funny stories in class."
You felt a lump form in her throat. "I'm glad you like him, Molly. I think I like him too.” You whisper the last part to yourself.
Molly yawned, nuzzling her stuffed bunny. “If you like him, then why are you sad?”
You lowered your gaze to meet hers, and with a gentle movement, you extended your arm to pull her toward you, drawing her close as she snuggled into your side.
“It’s nothing sweetie. Mommy’s okay.” You smiled encouragingly. “It was just a tough day.”
"Can we read a story before bed then?” Molly asked, her eyes already drooping but filled with hope.
"Course!" you exclaimed with infectious enthusiasm, lifting her gently into your arms. "We need to find out where the little prince will be doing today!" With a grin, you carried her towards her bedroom.
She let out a joyous giggle as you spun her around in your arms, creating a gentle breeze between you. Her laughter filled the air, and a grin spread across your face as you continued to move towards her bedroom.
Once Molly was tucked comfortably under the warmth of her blanket, you selected one of her favorite books and started to read aloud. As you flipped through the pages, your thoughts began to drift towards Remus, and despite your best efforts to focus on the story, his face kept appearing in your mind, his smile and gentle demeanor tugging at your heartstrings.
On the other side, your thoughts were a whirlwind of mixed emotions. Ever since you had returned from the date, a battle was raging in your mind. You couldn't deny how perfect the moment had been between the two of you, but the lingering fear of facing the same heartache and letdown again was clouding your judgment. Despite the growing feeling in your chest, the thought of opening yourself up to potential pain felt overwhelmingly terrifying.
After a short while, you glanced down at Molly and noticed she was fast asleep. Smiling warmly, you leaned down to place a gentle kiss on her head. Quietly, you made your way back to the living room, settling onto the couch as you grabbed your phone. Your finger hovered over Remus's contact, an internal debate unfolding within you. Should you text him or not?
Fuck it, your mind screamed.
Taking a deep, shaky breath, you started typing a message and without further thinking you hit send.
“Hey, I know it’s late. Just wanted to say goodnight.”
Fuck, why did you do it in the first place anyway, he probably won’t answ-
And then you saw three dots blinking.
“Hey, everything’s alright?”
Your fingers froze as you pondered your reply.
”Yeah, why?”
Your breath caught in your throat.
”Can I come over? Just for a minute.”
You felt tears gathering in your eyes, and It took him a second after your reply to realize you weren’t okay.
”Please.”
He was there after 15 minutes of walk, knocking on your door at 11 pm at night. Was he crazy? Maybe, but he couldn’t care less when you gave him such weird text. Maybe you didn’t want to take this thing between you any further? Oh god that’s was the worst scenario.
When you unlocked the door, he saw you looking miserable, with tired eyes that spoke of sleepless night. You hesitated as you stared at him, and he had to take a deep breath to steady himself. Then he really looked at you and saw that your eyes shimmered with unshed tears. Those pretty eyes sad, with something he couldn’t decipher. Something inside him broke at the sight, and he knew he had to do something to make it better.
“Y/N?”
“I…”
“Can I come in or is it too much right now?” He asked with a soft voice that made you shed a single tear down your cheek as you felt the warmth of his concern.
He was too good for you, but you loved it more than anything.
“Yes, you can.”
You stepped aside from the entrance, and he moved closer, gently closing the door behind him. As he approached, his eyes softened with concern, and you could feel the comfort of his presence wrapping around you.
”What’s going on, can I help somehow?” His voice carried a hint of panic at seeing you so upset, but he was determined to face it.
”I’m just…I’m so scared, I don’t want to even think about it anymore.” Your voice trembled, and with it, your tears began to fall. You pulled your cardigan tighter around yourself, seeking comfort, but it did little to ease your misery.
”C’mere.” He stepped closer, his hands gently reaching for your waist. When you leaned in, burying your face in his chest, he felt a lump form in his throat. As your tears continued to fall, he had to gulp, struggling to keep his composure. The sight of you so vulnerable and upset pierced his heart, and despite the comforting embrace he offered, he couldn’t help but feel a deep ache inside. He wished he could take away your pain, holding you tighter as if his warmth alone could make everything right.
His palms gently moved to your back, pressing you closer until you were completely enveloped in his embrace. From the outside, it must have looked incredibly sweet, with you looking so small and delicate in his arms, like he was trying to shield you from the world, but now, all he could think about were your cries, each one tugging at his heart.
“What are you scared of, hm?” He whispered softly, waiting for a while as your cries began to quiet down.
”I just down want to fuck this up.” You confessed softly, your words still muffled against his chest as you kept your face hidden. He held you tighter, his heartbeat steady and reassuring against your cheek, fingers gently brushing through your hair.
”This?” He sounded confused.
”Us.” You added.
And then it clicked.
”Can you look at me, sweetheart?” He reached for your face, and when he managed to finally look in your eyes again, he couldn’t help but gather your tears with his thumb. You closed your eyes at the feeling of his warm hands against your skin, nearly melting away and momentarily forgetting everything on your mind.
Were you this touch starved? Pathetic.
"It’s so stupid, actually," you began. ”We were just on our first date, and now I’ve probably scared you off. You must think I’m some psycho who—"
“Hey, that’s not what I think, and you shouldn’t either. Don’t ever call yourself a psycho again,” he said, his gaze softening. It pained him to hear you label yourself like that.
“You don’t?” You gave him look of a scared little lost child.
Fuck, what did you do to him?
“I know that you’re scared for Molly, I can see it in your eyes every time we mention her, but it’s okay. It’s okay to not be okay, and to be scared. Sometimes I’m scared of fucking things up too. I want it to be right for both of us, for Molly. It might be too early, but I care about you, and I don’t mean no harm when I say I’m ready to explore things between us further, whenever you are ready, at your pace, no bullshit. I’m not like this, Y/N.”
You listened with a mix of shock and curiosity as he spoke, each word planting seeds of hope and warmth in your heart. His sincerity and the depth of his feelings started to dissolve the fears that had clouded your mind. You could feel that familiar warmth growing inside you, a comforting reminder that maybe, just maybe, things could be different this time. His reassurance and patience began to heal the doubts you had, filling you with a renewed sense of possibility and trust.
“Are you even real?” you chuckled, a bit amazed.
He returned your smile and squeezes your waist playfully.
The tense atmosphere shifted to something more relaxed.
“Well, you’re here, standing in my arms, that doesn’t feel real for you, dove?” He teased, giving you a small wink. That melted all of your doubts for now.
“So now that everything’s clear, maybe you should come in properly?” You looked at his watch, gently removing his one hand from your waist to look at it, which made him snort with a small laugh. “It’s not that late, honestly.”
“You think it’s a good idea? What about Molly? If she sees me, she might be in a slight shock.”
“She’s asleep. I read herThe Little Prince every night, and it gives her the sweetest dreams, so she’s probably in a really deep sleep right now.”
He considered your proposition for a moment, then nodded softly with a warm smile.
“Ok, just for a moment though. I have to go back to my place, you know?” He joked.
And then a moment turn into hours, and he found himself holding you on his chest, in your living room, snoring cutely, after a glasses of wine you insisted to share with him. You were tangled in a blanket which he eventually reached for, because you started to shiver a bit. As he was looking at you, he suddenly realised how quickly he become attached to you. And it scared him then, but now, it’s was something he could get used to.
He really saw himself every night with you in his arms, and that thing changed something in his mind, forever.
He wanted this to become truth, after years of being alone.
He finally felt happy.
