Ok so I’ve been thinking about this for a while about Elias’s imprisonment.... So generally when people are accused of a crime they get a trial. and it must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty. Now: the only evidence that they had was the tape where Elias admitted to the murder of Gertrude and Lietner and possibly the tape where he actually killed Lietner? Unsure on that one. Yes both of those tapes could be prettyyyy damning evidence but you can’t really find someone guilty on just that. Elias could deny it was him on the tape or it was altered and I have a hard time believing he could actually be charged on both their murders based on tape recordings. Obviously AI voice wasn’t like it is today back in good ol’ 2017 but it probably wasn’t far off and I’m sure the defense could claim that the tapes were digitally altered. (You can make an audio file and record it onto a tape recorder pretty easily). So here are my theories:

1. Elias threw the trial and just admitted guilt. He wanted to go to prison anyway to get out of having to be around Jon and to instill Peter at the Institute. However, I think this is the least likely scenario since it’d be more difficult to get out of should anything go wrong (aka if Jon actually decided to die and he had to go to a backup plan). He probably also wouldn’t want to ruin his reputation by being found guilty. Sure being accused of murder isn’t a great look either but... lol

2. The trial keeps getting delayed due to bureaucracy/Elias’s meddling and while he’s awaiting trial they decided he was possibly too dangerous to be free. I did look it up and you can be imprisoned before trial in the UK if its determined to be necessary.

It’s possible that he organized something through blackmail to allow his court date to keep getting postponed. Also he could simply have organized with the police to simply hide out in prison without any charges (this is kinda like... a fourth theory but it wasn’t too different from the second so i didn’t make a whole new bullet point). The whole thing just for show. He literally didn’t need to be in handcuffs he’s just being dramatic

3. There *was* more evidence.

“All the evidence” does imply more than just the tapes. Perhaps they had fingerprints they could match on the pipe. Again with the tapes, Elias could argue they were spoofed and refuse to sign any confession. He also already is able of producing counter evidence through manipulating the cameras in the Institute. Fingerprints would be harder to dismiss but then... Jon’s fingerprints would also be on the pipe.

Anyway in my person theory number 2 is the most likely scenario. In MAG 122 we get this line from Basira:

Notably she doesn’t say he was convicted or charged. So if theory 2 is correct he really could just leave anytime he decides/speed through his trial and be found innocent should anything go awry. I find it interesting to speculate on how many backup plans Elias had going at once. Obviously all the marks were meticulously planned out, but even the best laid plans fail sometimes. It doesn’t make sense for him to allow himself to be proven guilty when Jon could kick the bucket and then he’d be stuck in prison delaying his ritual.

... Ultimately none of this really matters to the plot of the show I just thought it was interesting.

jon is the opposite of smug but i just know that a part of him especially after being insecure over robb his while life, that reader chose him. even more so when robb’s feelings start being more obvious and you are oblivious because you only have eyes for jon. he’s like yeah brother she chose me, suck it up for once.

Exactly. Its not a very obvious part of him, but it means a lot that you chose him. That you wanted him. It wasn't just between he and Robb, Jon knew he was up against a world of men who wouldve loved to date you, and you didnt even choose the nice ones at first.

Your feelings for him meant instead, you choose the worst ones. Almost complete opposites of Jon to compensate. But you did chose him. And Jon never couldve dreamed of that happening before now.

He is so happy with you, and wants so much for you both that hes not sure if Robb could even give you that degree of love. Jons always been second at best and last at worst, which means he will go to the ends of the world and back for you. Hes not sure any other man would. And likewise, you have such eyes for him you don't even think any other man would want you anymore. To you its so obvious you love Jon why would anyone bother looking at you that way again?

He doesnt want to rub it in Robbs face, but for once, Jon has what no one else does and it's your love.

HELLO MY DARLING 💛✨ i am here to humble request a directors commentary on our beloved curly girl lando - specifically the beginning!! (but tbh i’d love you to talk about anything you want) i loved so much how you just plopped us as readers right into the moment aaaaa

so the plopping right in the moment is in large part bc i had never written porn before and i was staring at a blank doc going 'just start somewhere. anywhere, eve. doesn't have to be the beginning.' the first words of the fic are literally the first words i wrote!

once i'd written way more i decided i actually really liked that being the beginning. cuz in the first four lines it sets up like, pretty much everything? at least vibes wise. 1st line is abt oscar's hands, 2nd is kind of abt asking permission, or w/e, 3rd is like oh hey it's blowjobs ! and 4th is the infamous hairbrush!

and beyond the first four lines, the next chunk is really doing a lot of heavy lifting in showing off their dynamic, their characterization, that kind of thing. "Oscar can tell she's not really joking" -> he knows her pretty decently! "Oscar’s still a bit lost, to be honest, but it’s not the strangest thing he’s met her halfway on." -> not only does he know her pretty well, he both knows her well enough and likes her enough to be compromising on a lot of stuff and clearly some Weird Stuff.

it's a lot of establishment of how much they're both gagging for it (oscar being like hold on i have a comb please let that work [and the comb being unused lol], lando being smug as hell at making him react but then sucking dick like she'll die without it) but also that while they have been hooking up for a bit ("Spit-slick and urgent like always, how she gets when she’s come and wants to return the favor."), this isn't something that's happened very often (oscar not quite knowing what to do with his hands, where he's allowed to put them, etc)

i think adding some sort of set up (what were they doing before this? how did they end up in the hotel room? how did they get to lando sucking his dick? these were all questions i very much so did not have answers to for much of writing this lol) would've slowed everything way down? and like, yeah it's heavily alluded to that oscar gets lando off Several times right before this which wouldve been fun to write and also was not something i knew happened when i initially wrote the first few lines, but the goal/the way i got the idea for this fic really was like. ok lando's a girl and has long curly hair, let's get into the logistics here bc from experience there is a surprising amount of logistics to get into. no non-hair-related plot necessary. it doesn't matter, exactly, how they ended up in oscar's hotel room the night after a race (in this intro. ch2 is a different story).

on a whim! lately its been via youtube recommendations and those Ranking Fangans lists in the tumblr tags lol.. i also went and checked out each dtdev has posted about because i was like Oh this persons made a good story i trust their taste in stories. (and then i ended up hating shattered hope...ah well)

what i've been really trying to do is just see what's out there and what people are making; i'm interested in what creative things people do with the dr format and what love letters and fan projects can look like from different folks :) when i mention what ive been up to to my friend i call it my "youtube trawl". im on a fangan tour studying them. for that reason i try my best to at least give a chance to all i can find and not skip over anything just based on looks

as for what could make me sick of one and drop it/what draws me into it... "atmosphere" feels like such a non answer but thats what comes to mind first LOL. im very charmed particularly by amateur art and good stories told through rudimentary media! so i generally have a big soft spot for less polished things. i get very endeared to them so thats something that draws me in. hmmm i like examinations of things from mainline dr done in different ways, and new and different stories that Are technically in the format but it's actually a very thin skin. i like creativity!!! and trying to figure out what something'll mean as a piece of the overall story & theming is exciting, so good hooks are important. (i mean characters and what they represent here, i'm very much not a plot theorizer lol i just like to ride it out and see what is given to me)

i suppose it must be the characters that really get me. concepts interactions and designs.. im a character guy! as shallow as it feels one of the first things that draws me into something is if the designs are cute or interesting and it can put me off if i dont like them.... agreed on the dialogue! if i like the interactions a lot and the chemistry of the group i can think Oh im a fan of the characters even if not necessarily the whole work and if i dont its very difficult for a good plot to save it for me. as ive mentioned a few times i cannot stand flirting or smug jokesters thats a big thing. whit almost made me drop drdt haha i was grumpy the day i began it and he really made me see red at the start

content i think is distasteful obviously also has an impact. i got to the "little sister for hire" character in antebellum and immediately clicked off because i suspected it wouldn't be handled delicately and i did not want to see that. and i quit F because i did not want to see someone force themselves onto the protag, plus i found the use of body art on grisp as what i assumed to be a visual shortcut for "wild naturalistic mystical guy" really inappropriate. i think the sister complex joke put me off hd as well.. and of course ta has made some insane choices (ch1 brownface??????) maybe im too cautious but i just dont generally have the patience to continue through that sort of thing these days. But im sure that makes sense

i am also picky about line delivery - -; i like naturalistic conversational tone and i tend to start feeling like broad deliveries are chewing the scenery really quickly. and i have a sensitive ear to when i wouldve articulated something differently.. But this wouldnt ever make me drop anything- im not the director after all so its not my say how lines are read and vas do wonderful work ! and it means when im wowed by voice work im REALLY wowed. one person that ive noticed has a really wonderful sense for script analysis, or at least consistently reads how i would, is the voice of hu :) veronika's excellently done too her giggle is perfect

i hope this hasnt lost the plot too badly hahah. all of that said, do you have any recommendations??? always happy to hear any

ok gushing abt the best thing ever aka case 4

was not expecting maya to get kidnapped at all... it was rly shocking to see phoenix completely lose his composure when he learned that she was kidnapped, bc this was the first time tht had ever really happened. throughout the game we had seen him act differently than usual whenever edgeworth was brought up, refusing to acknowledge him and even going as far as to snap at franziska. but to see him completely lose it and become so so panicked.. THAT WAS AWESOME!!! it was very suspenseful and unnerving in the best way like GRAGHHHHH and with some New Music too.. and it was really just emotional to see wright be so panicked and at his wit's end so many times throughout this case :( it did a really excellent job at solidifying just how much maya and phoenix mean to one another..🥲 and i was really touched by maya's (and pearl's!) unwavering faith that phoenix would save her 😭

phoenix's outburst at edgeworth was so surprising to me!!! i had absolutely no idea what edgeworth's return wouldve been like and how phoenix would react to him, but i was definitely not expecting FOR HIM TO SAY HE WISHED HE WAS DEAD LIKE BRO!!!!! but it does make sense for him to react this way, hes so fucking stressed abt maya its crazy, and edgeworth just returns smug af and speaking in riddles 💢 wright's reaction also gets further explained much later where its shown that in his grief and anger, he dealt with this loss by rationalizing that edgeworth had ran away bc phoenix dented his perfect record, and thats why he says it wouldve been better for edgeworth to have stayed dead; bc to cope, he had to characterize edgeworth as a coward. and 1.) i think its so interesting that we dont understand this until near the end, meaning we as players are left clueless abt phoenix's emotional state and 2.) THIS GIVES HIM SO MUCH DEPTH and further shows us how phoenix deals with loss, my personal interpretation w the info i have is that i think this motherfucker can barely deal with loss at all, and he had to believe that edgeworth was a coward who ran away rather than a victim of suicide or something, otherwise he wouldve lost it completely. but its open-ended enough tht it can be interpreted in a variety of ways WHICH IS AWESOME!!!! WOW!!!!!! The gradual unravelling of his emotional state is just SOOO FUCKING GOOD WHWHAHHS

speaking of edgeworth, bc he made an appearance so early in the case (i wasnt expecting him to be here day 1), i had wondered what role he would be fulfill, since we already have our prosecutor franziska.... AND THEN SHE GOT SHOT?!?!? AND EDGEWORTH IS OUR PROSECUTOR AGAIN?!?!? the stakes increased like fucking crazy.... both trial days were so good, 2nd one is my fave for reasons ill state later but this first one was still good too, bc i truly wasnt sure whether my client was guilty or not.. usually theres a more likelier culprit or the game just straight up shows the actual killer, but this time around it was so woahh cuz like andrews was very obviously lying which conveniently frames her as the killer, but then like maya got kidnapped and why would she be kidnapped if engarde is innocent.. also the fact that we needed to wrap this trial up in One Day was STRESS and then towards the end suddenly WHAT andrews is saying she isnt guilty?!?! randomly accusing people of murder is actually.. a bad thing to do?!?!? (<- sarcasm ive been criticizing phoenix for this this entire time) but yeah i was legitimately blindsided by the fact tht andrews was saying she wasnt guilty, it rly was a wake-up call for me and mr. wright cuz in every past case, unraveling inconsistencies brought us to the truth, and here we did that again, but in the panic to free maya, we didnt make our assumptions as airtight as it possibly could be and we basically almost fucking... punished an innocent person which is. insane. more on this (wright's manner of defense getting criticized) later..

also i was worried that id have to use andrews' mental illness against her to save maya which wouldve been a terrible terrible thing to do. luckily edgeworth is way edgier than i ever thought he could be and like a goddamn bastard he revealed her illness to everyone so i didnt have to. and yes towards the end that helps everyone including andrews, but at the time that was fucking FUCKEDDD up of him. my god. another note abt edgeworth, my memory is imperfect so maybe this isnt true at all, but in this trial it really did feel like edgeworth had changed a lot. like he actually gave wright multiple turns to speak, didnt rush the verdict, and when he saw wright's panic, he actually helped to prolong the trial..... like omg. hes no longer a von karma!!! THAT IS EPIC!!! but yes first trial day was crazily amazing, and when it ended with a new sprite of phoenix with his head in his hands that was really :((((( like that actually surprised tf out of me and made me so sad......

ok time to talk abt narumitsu. in this universe where every character behaves so over the top, more reigned-in and subtle emotional reactions tend to be much more striking and its bc of this reason that i find the interactions between wright and edgeworth to be soo compelling.. like its hard to explain cuz these guys do have their dramatic af moments, what with the way they are in court + faking suicide + phoenix's outburst, but their interactions are still grounded in a degree of subtlety, they dont have emotionally charged shouting matches or weep openly or whatever, and when they do lose composure, theres a gradual build-up to it. what im basically saying is that im a huge fan of the restraint in their relationship, i think it makes for an extremely interesting and enticing dynamic and their interactions in this last case was just so so good bc of this, phoenix is clearly still angry yet edgeworth is clearly trying to help him, and even tho hes still pissed wright accepts his help bc they are adults who have a job to do and its only towards the very end do they properly air out their feelings like Yesssss i love this. also!! i really liked how their roles have swapped around in this game, in the first game phoenix was saving edgeworth; he helped him realize the errors of his ways and later defended him when edgeworth was on trial, and now in this game edgeworth is returning the favor, and is making phoenix realize the error of HIS ways and is helping him to save maya... like that is GROWTH!!! and of course the way their rejection towards one another has swapped too, first game had edgeworth rejecting us and putting us down cuz we're rookies, and this time around wright is the one rejecting edgeworth cuz he thinks hes still a petty perfection-driven lawyer. but they still manage to bypass these presumptions and save one another. it came back full circle in such a great way that im like so satisfied with it to a point tht im curious if edgeworth will even do anything in the next game bc like is there anything more to be said and done??

moving on, 2nd trial is easily my favorite trial so far bc of how its such a subversion of everything ive came to expect from these trials, mia's wisdom of believing in your client no longer holds steadfast but i cant just out my client cuz 1.) i am a goddamn defense attorney and 2.) maya's life is being held ransom. and also like we have to prolong this trial for as long as possible so the cops can search for maya but we also cant just throw shit around and get penalties, we have to defend our client who we know is guilty but we cant defend him TOO well or andrews is going to the fucking gallows, god andrews... when i accused her AGAIN i prayed that she would beat the fuck out of me and edgeworth after the trial bc this poor innocent woman.. we have been putting her thru hell. and also like god wright's and edgeworth's roles has essentially been swapped around w the way i have to accuse an innocent person and edgeworth has to be the one to protect her like its CRAZY!!!! its mind games on mind games on mind games and everything is topsy turvy and so intense and still manages to be funny with phoenix throwing the phone across the goddamn courtroom but also sad with him breaking down towards the end and the TENSION with waiting for gumshoe to arrive with the evidence and FRANZISKA VON KARMA SAVING THE DAY like this last case was a such masterclass in pacing, every fucking beat just hit so precisely it was SUCH a good experience... WOAHHHH!!!

and ofc ive mentioned this already but seriously this case touched on everything i had wanted this series to touch on its like it read my mind or something hello....

like theres almost nothing i need to add on bc this case practically spelled everything out omg. throughout these past 2 games ive been giving phoenix shit for just randomly accusing witnesses of being perpetrators, and like i get it this is what phoenix has to do, bc he lives in a world where the justice system is so fucked up that people get accused w the filmiest of evidence and phoenix really does need to find the actual perpetrator to free his client, i get it. but in doing so we run the risk of accusing another innocent person of something they didnt do, bc a lot of the time we're accusing these people without decisive evidence. and thats what nearly happened in this case with ms andrews, she was innocent but we almost damned her for something she didnt do, which is greatly ironic considering that a large reason why phoenix became a lawyer was bc he was saved from a false conviction (a class trial, but still).

and the reason phoenix does this (this = somewhat baselessly accusing others of being guilty), is bc of what mia had taught him: to believe in your client. because our client is innocent, another party must be guilty. this is how we've handled every case so far. so during this engarde case, where we learn that our client actually is guilty, and phoenix starts to lose his mind… edgeworth tells wright his most vital lesson yet: that they are not heroes, they are lawyers.

brief mini tangent b4 i circle back to this idea of being a lawyer rather than a hero: while i was wrapping up that miserable experience of a third case, i was wondering to myself what the overarching message of this game would be. the only thing thts really been tying these past three cases together have been edgeworth's disappearance, compared to the first game which hinted at narumitsu's shared backstory + dl-6 which it then had its climax with. so obviously edgeworth will play a big role in this last case… but then what? what is he going to do? what message will he deliver? i didnt have a clue, and then the final case rolled in and the overarching message it delivered was this: being a lawyer isnt about saving people, nor is it about being a hero. this is why mia's belief of 'believing in your client' falls short, bc simply 'saving' someone bc u believe in their innocence isnt enough. otherwise, this would mean that those that we believe are guilty arent deserving of a defense, which is why wright was so conflicted upon learning of his client's crime. but this isnt what being a lawyer is about, instead its as edgeworth had said;

what it means to be a lawyer is to defend/prosecute to the best of your ability, regardless of your whether you believe the defendant is guilty or not. it means to have faith in the opposing party, and that if your claim is a false one, said opposing party will expose the faults in your claim. and as to whether the defendant is truly guilty or not, that can only be decided once both prosecution and defense have unveiled the truth together. this is what it means to have a fair trial, what it means to be a lawyer: it is about having faith in the ability of the opposing party, it's about being able to trust others. this is what edgeworth had learned in the year tht he's been gone, and is now here to teach to phoenix.

in this last case, wright finally learns what it fucking means to be a goddamn lawyer, what it really means to be a defense attorney. wright is able to defend engarde, despite knowing that he is guilty, bc he has faith in edgeworth's prosecuting abilities. it is thru their trust in one another that they were able to prolong the trial long enough for franziska to arrive with decisive evidence. as a lawyer, wright must be capable of defending even those who he believe may be criminals, bc a proper defense, fair trials, and justice, isnt something that can just be cherry-picked and handed out to select individuals. true justice is something that everyone deserves. justice… is.. for all…

JUSTICE FOR ALL!!!!!

this, of course, can only happen in a fair and just world, where neither defense or prosecution is corrupt with say, forged evidence and fabricated testimonies or whatever, and an unbiased judge. this world is clearly not ace attorney's world, nor is it our non-fictional world. but i still find it so remarkable that in this fictional world where the judicial system has been perverted nearly beyond recognition, these characters were still able to deliver this semblance of truth, and illustrate the purpose, function, and importance of a fair trial. i really do love it when stories use exaggerated and absurd environments to convey messages which are deeply relevant to our own world. and i find it especially neat how in the first game, it was the prosecutors who were being scrutinized; von karma's and lana skye's fabrications being brought to light, with edgeworth closely trailing behind the footsteps of these two. but this time around its the defense being scrutinized, with both phoenix's and mia's unwillingness to properly defend engarde coming back to bite them several times.

another neat thing is that i really like this dialogue from mia after the trial ends:

which is her referring to whichever choice we made right before franziska saved the day; either securing the non guilty verdict, or claiming that engarde is guilty. i was very happy to learn that mia says this regardless of which choice you pick, bc neither options are necessarily incorrect. if you say engarde is guilty, it means that being a lawyer means to believe in your own convictions and moral compass. if you secure a not guilty verdict for instead, it means being a lawyer, a defense lawyer, is about defending your client to the best of your ability, regardless of ur own personal beliefs. both of these are admirable traits to have in a lawyer which is why either choice are praised equally…. THIS CASE IS SO GOODFJSDLJFK

some other final comments before i wrap this up: i was so relieved to see andrews smile at the end of everything T_T i think shes a subtle parallel to wright, edgeworth, and franziska, as all four of them have lost their mentors and are struggling bc of it. all 4 of them were dependent on their mentors to various degrees, but by the end of the case, they are able to extract themselves from their mentors' shadows, and are able to forge a new path for themselves. wright learns that theres more to being an attorney than believing in one's client, edgeworth and franziska put von karma's legacy of perfection behind them, and andrews learns to be comfortable with herself 🥲🧡 also gumshoe was such a real one in this case…. i am so sorry for previously cussing you out when u wouldnt give me evidence. through our time together you have become a friend to me <3

ended up w/ someone who clearly didnt like me at all and failed for the stupidest raeson ever (not taking right of way and making a turn in front of a ambulance with its siren on lol) insane thing is that i wouldve failed either way. if i took right of way i wouldve been failed for driving in front of an ambulance w/ its siren on and when i didnt and let him go i still failed. sooo awful like he didnt even tell me til the very end of the test and that happened right at the beginning and u could tell how smug he was explaining it to me and kept opening the sentences with 'to me,' since like it didnt even make sense lol. looking at the paper the thing he marked down as critical driving error was "dangerous maneuver" which is like. the exact opposite of what i did and what he wouldve marked down had i turned infront of the ambulance lol. like ughh it was so awful and definitely one of those things where they just wanna fail u the first time and then actually test me for real the second time. luckily theres less of a wait to retake it so im gonna be able to retake it october 4th but godd its like so annoying. like just being hard failed while the guy acts really smug abt how me letting an ambulance pass is a "dangerous maneuver" like genuine sadist behavior

I think what let me down about Ogata is I really did want him to just be... a fucking dickhead. A psychopath. Not in the incredibly over the top ways that other characters are but in a way where he just sucks and the tiny glimpses of humanity we catch from him are deeply treasured. The big reveal at the end of the manga of his trauma, how it festered in him and effected every decision he made unconsciously or not, trauma he was just straight up inflicting on himself? Made him 700% more human, pathetic, and sad. Tsurumi going full Freud and saying how Ogata wanted everything so he could be in the spot of the only man his mother ever loved??? Ogata saying how this was all because he wanted Tsurumi's attention and love and felt bitter he killed his half brother for seemingly no purpose?? Just........ waaaay more baggage and sadness than I was prepared for.

I felt so strongly and passionately about Ogata because I thought the tragedy would be in his unwillingness to reveal these pieces of him. Hell, not even reveal- to recognize at all. I thought he would die with smug defiance at ruining everyones life for fucking over his. Ogata got to have closure and comfort in the very end at the cost of tearing his character asunder.

I saw a person say once in the GK tag they were grateful for Ogata "having the same mental illness" as them and I rolled my eyes into the back of my skull. I thought it was such an edgy thing to say, like if someone said Makima had the same mental illness as them. But now its like........... oh Ogata actually wouldve been fixed with prozac and therapy probably............ literally gave himself terminal mommy and daddy issues...... fatal unloved child disorder......

after paying for tickets, jake asks you what shoe size he should get for you and makes his way to grab them. in the meantime, you sat on the benches right outside the rink and watched the people already skating inside.

jake sat down next to you and set your shoes on the ground. as the two of you began putting the shoes on, jake giggles and looks at you. “what??” you say confused.

“theres a guy in the rink that looks exactly like someone you’d like” he says giggling again

“you’re so annoying. also they probably arent because you think anyone thats tall with black hair is my type, jake”

“and im right about it”

“okay then look at the guy when he skates by the side and tell me yourself. you’re gonna end up adding him to the list of random encounters youve had w cute guys. he’ll be ‘ice skater boy’“

“ha ha very funny.” you say unamused. “which one is he”

you start looking for a tall boy with black hair and a black jacket and immediately see one, but his back was turned.

“he’s turned around” you say standing up. “lets go in the rink”

“why so you can get a better look at your new lover boy” jake says smirking.

“shut up”

you step on the ice and slide to the side to make space for jake to step into the rink.

as jake began trying to balance on the ice, a group of people skid past him. he quickly grabbed your arm and you both fell butt first on the ice

“JAKE WHY’D YOU GRAB ME”

“BECAUSE IT WOULDVE BEEN WAY MORE EMBARASSING IF I FELL BY MYSELF”

you sigh and hold the bar on the side of the rink, lifting yourself up.

“okay lets get to skating now” you say as jake stood up next to you

“no lets go towards lover boy first”

as you and jake got closer to the boy, jake slowed down and got behind you, making you look back at him in confusion

“oh my god im so sorry, my friend pushed me and” you paused as you looked at his face. of course jake was right. he was exactly your type.

“oh my gosh!!! i didnt realize other people were there!!!” jake was now standing above you with a smug look on his face.

the boy swiftly got up and extended his hand to help you get up. “you’re good, it surprisingly happens a bunch” he said smiling. “im sunghoon by the way”

“y/n” you say awkwardly.

after a long minute, sunghoon spoke up. “uh ill let you two get back to skating”

“NO” jake yelled as sunghoon began turning

“no?” you and sunghoon say in unison

“yeah.. because like we uh we dont know how to skate and you seem like you know how so can you help us!! by us i mean y/n because im basically a pro already” jake said smiling

“you fell as soon as you stepped on the ice jake”

Birthday Wishes - Max Fewtrell

The bed felt cosy and the blankets so soft. So super cosy. Like I could lie there forever and ever and…

“Babe, are you awake?”

Slowly I rolled over to face the owner of the voice.

“Why do you need to know?” I asked, still half asleep.

“Because,” the voice said, now putting an arm around my waist. “Today’s a special day and I have plans for you.”

I took the opportunity to snuggle against his chest hoping for just one more minute.

“Can’t the plans wait?”

“No,” he laughed. “Come on, birthday girl, time to get up.”

After a short tussle on the bed, Max lead me by the hand out of our room and down the stairs to the kitchen. Despite the fact that we’d literally just woken up, he looked really cute. His hair was standing up in various directions; his shirt (having just been put on) wasn’t sitting quite right yet and was showing a bit of his tummy when he moved.

“Ok, your mom wants to call you later this evening. My mom wants to see you this afternoon. But I’ve booked you for the morning,” Max explained as he pulled a pan out of the cupboard.

“How do you know all that?”

Max seemed very amused at my question.

“I asked.” He gathered ingredients from around the kitchen. “I told you that I have plans for you. Well, for us.”

I hopped up onto the counter and watched as Max whipped up some flapjack mix and, once the pan was hot, got to cooking.

“Oh, my card for you should be there on the counter. Somewhere next to you,” he said.

I picked up the envelope with my name on it and pulled out the contents.

“Did you buy this card from the market we went to?” I asked, noticing that it was handmade.

“Yup,” he confessed. “It was hard to do it without you noticing though.”

The thought of Max secretly buying something for me made me feel giddy.

‘To my beautiful girlfriend <3 Happy birthday. You know I’m not great with meaningful messages. So just know that I love you and that your gift will be worth it. All my love Max’

“Such poetry,” I teased after I had read his card. But even if I did poke fun at him a bit, I knew I’d still cherish it. Which was evident by the way I held the card to my chest.

“Do I get to know what my gift is now?”

Max looked at me, seemingly weighing up how to answer. He flipped the flapjacks over before saying: “No. Not yet.”

But I noticed the smug smile on his face as he pretended to be busy with the food.

Breakfast was fulling but delicious. As soon as the last bite had been taken, Max was herding me back to the bedroom to get dressed and ready for the morning.

Very soon we were on the road headed too somewhere. I took the chance to check my phone for any messages from my family and friends.

“Lando sent ‘Happy day to you, hope Max treats you well.’” I read aloud, laughing a bit.

“He’s such an idiot.” Came the reply with a slight shake of his head.

“Well, he was your friend before he was mine,” I said. “You have to take responsibility for all the nonsense he says to me.”

“Fine, but only because it’s your birthday.”

Finally, Max pulled into a parking lot and stopped the car.

“This isn’t what I originally wanted to do with you.” Max leant on the centre consol. “But I think this will be a good enough substitute.”

With a quick wink, Max was out of the car and around to my side, opening the door.

I looked around and it started to click.

“No way…”

“Come on, love,” he said, taking my hand in his. “We need to get our race suits on.”

The smell of petrol hit my nose the moment we walked out towards the track. The go-karts were lined up and waiting. Max was trying to give me some tips on how to take the corners but I was too excited to really listen.

I felt so professional in my race suit, crash helmet tucked under my arm. I’d already told Max that we had to take lots of photos when we were done and because of the circumstances, he agreed.

“Babe?” Max caught my attention. “Are you ready?”

“Yes!”

“Ok, let’s get your helmet on first.”

Max planted a quick kiss on my cheek before tenderly putting my helmet on my head and pulling the strap under my chin to make sure it sat snuggly.

“There we go. Looking like a proper racing driver now.” He smiled proudly. “Now let’s get driving.”

The thrill of crossing the finish line was amazing. When I finally came to a stop in the pit lane, I practically bounced out my seat and ran over to Max. He easily picked me up in a hug.

“You did so well. We should get you some training.”

“You’re just saying that. I know you went easy on me.”

“Well, I couldn’t let my girlfriend lose on her birthday. That’d make me the worst boyfriend ever.”  

We had our mini podium celebration with tiny plastic trophies. We bought cans of soda and sprayed it all over each other.  My cheeks hurt from smiling so much.

I pulled him closer and kissed him with all the love I had.

“Thank you, Max. This was the best gift ever.”

One thing that really bothers me about Joshua Graham and his """"redemption arc"""" is that after dear old Edward crucified his first person, Joshua didn't take a step back and think, "think I've heard this one before" why would his connection to faith AFTER Hoover dam be any more legit or redeeming?

Short answer: bad writing

Long answer: could've been good writing, but misses the mark when it comes to hitting the themes that actually matter, or would've made the point.

The reason Joshua doesn't care about the atrocities committed by the Legion is because the Legion benefited him/his ideology. Joshua Graham doesn't care about any actual religion, he cares about what makes him an authority and uses christianity as a metric to keep himself in power. The only reason he started hating Caesar and the Legion is because it turned on him. The thing about "I think I've heard this one before" couldve been effective to prove that Joshua doesn't engage critically with Christianity beyond memorizing bible quotes to spout at people through a smug air of superiority.

Regardless of whether he personally committed acts of murder, rape, or the genocide of tribal identities, he was complicit in it. Turned a blind eye to it. If he didnt, it wouldve alienated the the environment created by the legion (and the people trying to survive it).

His "reconnection" to his faith is more of a reconnection to the racism, colonialism, and patriarchy that the mormon faith is built on. Very White Man's Burden of him. He doesn't know how NOT to be in power. Even as he has "humbled himself" in Zion, he makes himself a leader, makes it so the Dead Horses cant survive without him. Puts himself in Angel Cave. Preaches to the people of Zion. His answer to the White Legs is to subjugate them because that's what he KNOWS. He never shows any reasonable progress towards being a better person because that would involve admitting fault.

I find it very funny that people believe c!Dream's Spirit speech was a very real emotional outburst and a breaking point because he was "peacefully negotiating and suddenly had his dead horse used against him" and therefore what he said during it cant be taken seriously because that erases so much context. Just So Much

1. Dream was trying to turn people against Tommy and get him exiled. He was pushing for exile repeatedly. This was also a Week after he blew up like 6 bases and framed Tommy and said something along the lines of "when Tommy is on next we can confront him about the griefing" implying he Very Much wanted Tommy in trouble and this wouldve been the end result regardless

2. Tommy had Spirit because Dream gave it to him. Completely willingly. Because the discs were too important to trade. In Season 1.

3. Dream had full control over the situation, everyone was complying and trying to negotiate with him. Things were Going His Way.

4. Dream was trying to provoke Tommy for a reaction, sending mocking n taunting whispers to him while Tommy was getting visibly more angry bc he knew Dream was being unfair. A reaction is what he Wanted to incriminate Tommy further

5. Nothing he said in that speech has been disproved. When Sapnap brought it up he was belittled. When Sapnap visited him he prioritised sending the ":)" message to Ranboo. He has shown time and time again he cares more for the discs over everything (repeatedly escalating the disc war, letting L'Manberg stay bc he got the discs, giving Tommy Spirit bc he didnt want to give him the discs, etc.)

6. He literally Has other speeches like this in Early Season 1. Like, very similar in wording. Threatening to slaughter the L'Manbergians unless they surrendered. He has Always Been Like This

7. He was the ONE to introduce the idea of taking away attachments and using them in war. He has taken Tommy's pets hostage, he has killed Tubbo's bees, he killed Tommy's horse, he Refused to let Tommy farm any new discs and would take them away repeatedly, he helped destroy Sapnap's tower And indirectly got his pets killed/nearly killed. Etc.

8. Tommy is like. The one person who Knows how special attachments are. We know he wouldnt have burnt it. Dream knows he wouldnt have burnt it.

9. Dream was Literally building up walls to build height and threatening to keep the L'Manbergians inside with guards patrolling outside and Slaughtering them if they left

10. He has had Spirit used against him before by Tommy. He didnt have a reaction like This

11. He was. So clearly just not on the brink of an emotional breakdown during any of that. The smug bastard was holding a nation hostage, getting what he wanted And sending taunting whispers. If this was supposed to be a breaking point in his arc it wouldve been depicted as such

Could you talk more about sam and max being autistic idk I just like hearing your thoughts about it your doc was cool

you come to me on the day of my daughters wedding and ask me about sam and max autism headcanons, forcing me to open tumblr and start writing what ive been thinking recently about maxs autism in relation to him in 305

i talked about this in private a bit but i think 305 could be taken as an allegory for maxs giant autism and thinking you dont feel things the right way with ASD

-max turns into a giant horrible monster in 305, this could be taken as him literally seeing himself as a monster and the whole town, all their friends, see him as such and want him DEAD all except sam whos constantly vouching for max this entire episode. at the end when superego was like "wow! max is actually capable of self sacrifice! amazing!" sam says "told you so." very smug because he knew all along, he always knew max was capable of kindness and love because he sees it firsthand every day!

theyre partners and best friends, of course he knows him better than he knows himself. Literally in this case, where superego, personification of part of maxs brain, thinks hes not capable of feeling things in a normal, proper way, max doesnt think that about HIMSELF, superegos issue with max (maxs issue with himself lol) is that he thinks hes capable of more and max is just ignoring him he says specifically hes tried to push max towards the finer things in life and being more proper (max trying to push himself? talking about max and superego as separate when theyre essentially the same is so hard #HELP.) he thinks hes selfish and cruel and not capable of a selfless act.

theres even a line superego says to sam where he says "you of all people should be able to understand my frustration after years of being partnered with a creature driven by pure id" which is like. does max think sam gets frusterated with him and doesnt want him as a partner because of the way that he Is. max. this is a nice little parallel to sam just last episode having that thought "max is getting so powerful now soon he wont even need me :(" but thats getting away from my point a little. (veering into max depression discussion which is a whole can of worms on its own, but it is worth mentioning autism and depression often go hand in hand and some of maxs self worth issues can be attributed to feeling weird about his autism traits)

anyways of course max was capable of a selfless act, of course he would save sybil and her baby, he loves sybil and he loves babies and he has a lot of love in his little heart. so skipping ahead a bit to the biggest scene in sam and max that baffle and confuse millions, maxs reaction to coming back to sam.

a lot of people are confused by maxs nonchalance and casual retelling of the horrible events that apparently went down in his timeline where he had to kill his sam. (interestingly but a little off topic, he specifically says HE blew sam up, whereas in this tl, max killed HIMSELF, sam didnt do a thing. in fact he wouldve probably stayed trying to save him until they both blew up if superego hadnt convicned him itd be tooootally fine to leave. seriously sam its OK hes NOT going to blow up i promise. ok bye bye."

so max comes back, immediately tries to jump back into normalcy and jokes and feels unsure and uncomfortable when sam doesnt reciprocate. he looks confused when sam hugs him even. a lot of people are like "what the hell did he mean by this" but TBH as someone with ASD and lots of experience in the "getting bad news over the phone and then going to a funeral" pipeline i really felt a mind and soul connection with max there! this is mentioned somewhere int he sam and max bible for the cartoon but steve purcell writes something along the lines of "max sees things differently from anyone else" on the topic of his strange reactions to things. which is like. You have autism ->

theres an unskippable line in 305 right before you get to the endgame where sam says "why does max have tear ducts? i cant remember the last time ive seen max cry." and then immediately gets into maxs juxtaposed reaction to sams death to sams absolute MISERY over maxs. max might not feel grief in the way people would expect from a person. he might not even be sad. he might not feel things in the "proper" or "normal" way but that doesnt make him a 50 foot shambling eldritch monster, hes just wired differently. as someone with autism ive felt it too where i dont think i feel things in the right way. if something really sad and fucked up happens to me i dont feel sad and the only thing im immediately concerned with is feeling uncomfortable with watching the people around me crying which, as im typing this, makes me feel like a monster freak for being so cold and cruel, but thats the point im trying to get at, 305 could be read as an allegory for this exact feeling.. because at the end of the day max is just max and sam is happy to see him and accept him as he is. hes not a monster, hes just sams partner and best friend and its ok to be exactly the way he is without feeling the need to change

Have you done Krekka for the ask game? I know you're a huge Nidhiki fan, curious if you have any thoughts on his partner?

I haven't gotten Krekka yet actually. So far I only done Toa Ignika and Axonn for the Bionicle ask game (which Im still accepting). That being said great choice. Krekka isn't necessarily a big favorite of mine (partially because I'm not that fond of the "dumb brute" archetype barring a few exceptions), but I have to admit I do have a soft spot for the big guy. Krekka is a relatively simple character when it comes to characterization/backstory/role in the story (especially when compared to Nidhiki), but that doesn't mean I don't have any "deeper" thoughts regarding him or that there isnt stuff worth discussing.

Anyways some thoughts/headcanons/general musings:

This is a weird thing to start with but... Krekka is kinda adorable for me. I think its kinda this ...overgrown puppy (bulldog??) vibe due to his loyalty and dumbness. I admit BOADH is a big reason for me feeling this way since it gave him a few moments that made me go "AWWW he's so cute". Just..love his loyalty so much.

His undying loyalty makes him stand out for me across the other dark hunters. While many dark hunters we ha e are opportunistic and schemy, Krekka is just...very loyal. Maybe too much so. But I love that he is loyal. Feels refreshing tbh.

And now I cant help but feel that TSO is just "guys stupid but at least he wont double cross me and is easy to keep in check" when it comes to him.

Not to go woobifying villains but I genuinely dont think the guys that bad. Hes just really stupid, overly loyal and doing his job. Its kinda like w Lariska being a decent person despite being a knife happy murder girl although to a much lesser extent since guys a literalminded fool and also just smashy boy.

I do like his backstory of being a former guard who lost his job and started wreck havoc until one day a dark hunter found and hired him. It isnt anything too complex but it works well for his character and explains why he is so loyal to Dark Hunters. It also helps bringing a bit more light to his homeland and I love when we get more info of places through character backstories, makes the world feel more real that way.

Also can Gorast please stop hurting charaxters I like. This is the reason shes my least favorite character in the 2001-2008 storyline that isnt just a glorified extra or a plot device.

When it comes to Krekka, one scene I always think of when I think of him is in BOADH where he temporarily forgot to fly and Nidhiki was just "WAIT A MOMENT LARISKA TOLD ME YOU CAN FLY????" and Krekka just goes "whoops I forgot". That was adorable honestly. You dumb idiot, forgot you could fly.

Also, I know he's kinda "the idiot character", and while I am NOT saying he isn't, I do think its worth pointing out that he's basically literal minded. In BOADH (again) when Nidhiki tried to do that training scenario Krekka basically was like "wait I’m here, there’s nothing there why should I move there". This is

Another thing I really like about Krekka is that how, despite being an absolute idiot and tool, he still is willing to sometimes not take Nidhikis bullshit, see preventing him from getting the Zamor launchers (geez BOADH did a lot for this guys characterization lmao)

I sometimes call him truck boy because his name is one letter off my languages word for truck.

Also unless canon/word of Greg says otherwise I don't think every member of his species is as stupid as him. Like possibly on similar level but still.

It is made pretty clear that Nidhiki couldn't stand Krekka at all, but I do genuinely wonder how Krekka feels about Nidhiki. Based on the little we have I'd say he liked him to some extent or at the very least, didn't hate him to the same degree. I also have to wonder how aware he was about Nidhikis haterd towards him.

I also love the idea that when Nidhiki was mutated, Krekka just...wasnt afraid of him at slightest, no fear in this dumb boy. (I also like the idea he didnt recognize him at first and Nidhiki just, had to explain to his thick skull who he was. It took a while but eventually he got it.)

On a related note, I find it interesting how the LOMN website describes him working with Nidhiki because guy knows where to get the good jobs or something rather than being his goverment (read TSO) assigned partner The way the twos relationship were described makes it feel that by this point the staff hadnt figured out what they wanted to do with Dark Hunters , or if it even was an organization or just these two tools.

Its really interesting for me how Krekkas characterization not only varies between the books/comics (where hes more intimidating and him being a simpleton isnt as pronounced) and the movie (where hes more of a dumbass) but also how his characterization evolved. Like, his loyalty wasn't that pronounced trait but now I feel its just as important part of him as him being a dumbass (which is to say, very interesting)

I remember how the aftoermentoined Metru Nui movie website described that Krekka hated toa to the point wouldve hunted them for free if Nidhiki didnt make sure the two would get paid. I feel this is somewhat early installment weirdness as it isnt mentioned anywhere else but at the same time Krekka being willing to fight without payment sounds 1000% in character if you ask me

Something I have been confused over: when exactly was Krekka recruited to the dark hunters??? The timeline is very vague about this and I wish we knew.

It's been AGES since I watched my home countrys dub of LOMN but what I recall I really liked Krekka's voice in that dub. He sounded more badass and I loved it, the VA had a pretty unique sound. Sadly dont think there is any clips of the LOMN dub, which is a shame. UPDATE: I rewatched the dub and I love the voice itself but felt the voice direction made him sound kinda inconsistent

This is more a "Nidhiki and Krekka related thought" rather than just Krekka related but one thing I really like about Krekka and Nidhiki is that how they are like a more serious and competent take of "those two evil henchmen with contrasting personalities" trope. Often these types of villains are rather goofy, but these two could be rather dangerous as well and I really like that. I also like their dynamic of just doing Nidhiki being done with Krekkas bullshit. One of the main reasons I wish LOMN was a miniseries rather than a movie is because I really wanted more screentime with the two.

On a related note can I JUST SAY I LOVE the way the two compliment/pararell each other. From design (Krekka being bulky mostly blue colored, Nidhiki being slender and monstrous, mostly green colored) to personality (Krekka being foolish and simpleminded but loyal Nidhiki being cunning and ambitious but treacherous) to powersets (Krekka being strong physical attacker, Nidhiki being weaker(??) but faster and more special attacker).Heck, even their backstories have similarities as they both lost their orginal purpose in one way or another and didnt have anywhere to go but Dark Hunters (the main difference being that Nidhiki inflicted his fate upon himself by betraying the toa while Krekka didnt really do anything iirc)

Now for something crossovery, Krekkas and Nidhikis dynamic reminds me a lot of Kronk and Yzma from Emperors New Groove. Yes I have drawn a parody of the "pull the lever kronk" meme, yes I intend to make more screencap redraws. They also remind me a lot of Mummymon and Archenemon from Digimon 02, partially due to the dynamic (smug spider that tries to be cunning and intimidating but gets outclassed by most other villains in that + loyal blue dumb boy) partially due to their ultimate fate being rather similar.

I don't know how familiar you are with the franchise, but Krekka reminds me a fair bit of Gamel, one of the four villain generals in Kamen Rider OOOs, mainly because "the dumb brute major villain that's kinda cuteish and loyal a f while everyone else is an asshole".

I remember reading a p good oneshot fic that was just him accidentally killing a civilian when all he wanted was a hug and...honestly that is p much what I imagine him being like. Guy may be strong, reckless and a fool but like I said I dont think hes all that bad and just a puppy. An overgrown, moronic puppy but a puppy nontheless

For AUs, I remember I have thought once of "What if Krekka survived but Nidhiki died" and just ...guy wouldve been very lost and confused and unsure what to do tbh. He would most likely returned to Dark Hunters but Mata Nui knows how say TSO wouldve felt about that. Its not too complex au yet but I am thinking of developing it further one day.

Sorry this took longer than expected. I had too many thoughts and half of them were deleted so. I hope its worth the wait tho. I do have a lot of Krekka thoughts and tbh wasnt sure if I was even able to get them all here.

The conversation before the last plague between Rameses and Moses. Everything between them is so well written and believable

The last plague. It's a horrifying scene, but not in the same way as all the others. It's a quiet, ominous, haunting terror, and the lack of music is brilliant.

I love the visualization of the angel of death. Although I think it wouldve been cool to have the traditional many eyed and winged horror, the contrast of the wisps of white air carrying the last breaths of all the first borns against the stark darkness is...intense

The rising wailing and agonized screams as the sun begins to rise and as the only sound as Rameses covers his son with the sheet.

Fucking hell this movie gets really intense sometimes

THE PARTING OF THE RED SEA IS FUCKING GLORIOUS AND BEAUTIFUL AND EVERYTHING IT SHOULD BE

THE ANIMALS ILLUMINATED IN THE WATER, FUCKING HELL THIS MOVIE IS BEAUTIFUL

THE WATER RUSHING BACK IN WITH ALL ITS FUCKING MIGHT

the mix of awe and shock on the peoples faces as they look out at the sea, safely on the other shore

MOSES CARRYING THE TABLETS DOWN THE MOUNTAIN AS DELIVER US RISES TRIUMPHANTLY even though the movie ends before he gets to the bottom and learns the hebrews started worshipping a golden calf in his absence, but we're not gonna worry about that
