After years of discovering about his immortality and living through the death and reincarnation of his loved ones, Danny was tired. The world had changed: it had destroyed, rebuilt, reboot, he honestly lost the thread over the years.
Although he could admit that it was interesting to see the evolution, the arrival of heroes on his "original" dimension. And maybe he forced Technus to build him a radio that would alert him to space-related issues there...
He was thrilled when Martian Manhunter was heralded as a hero (Superman was a pretty cool alien yes, but too... human?), though that was basically all the news he had of current civilization (not that he needed further)
The years passed and at the end he decided to live out his retirement on earth out of nostalgia (and by that he means Clockwork got his ass out of the Realms for a break) in what was once Amity a long time ago, he built a nice cabin in the mountains and settled there.
His relationship with Clockwork had evolved over the years, and Danny understood that his mentor (sometimes father) was very concerned that immortality would negatively affect him.
Seeing how he locked himself in his castle for the first few years after Jazz death didn't help alleviate his fears. So Danny didn't complain when the ghost threw him to Earth on that dimension (besides, it had Aliens now! and he missed Amity...even if it was not Amity anymore)
But people won't stop pestering him during his retirement! "Save us" "Help us balance the world, chosen one" "Play with me, let cause chaos!" And more ridiculous phrases. Can the horned boy and wizards leave him alone!? He just wanted to rest!
He couldn't even ask his loved ones for help because their reincarnations didn't recognize him (or did, and made fun of his situation).
On the other hand, Justice League Dark and Klarion have spent years trying to bring the powerful entity that lives in the mountains to their side but nothing works! Why is it so intent on pretending to be an old man with an appearance of 20!?
hey! no clue if you’ll like this idea but thought i’d give it a shot. i was reading one of my favorite books the other day and there was a quote that reminded me of a dynamic/idea that i’d love to see with Jason. since i have no clue what the dynamic is called i’ll just show you part of the quote to give you the general idea (obvs have however many liberties you want. i just don’t know the name for it).
(“I want you to stay. I want you to… I want you.”
“And how will you have me?. Fully clothed, gloves on, your head turned away so our lips can never touch?”)
i can imagine it would be pretty angsty and angry.
Ooh I love this. Have a mini-fic.
(I’m going with Arkham knight jason because that’s the sandbox i’m playing in right now.)

“Take off the helmet,” she said.
The glowing front panel looked down at her, the LEDs of its display unchanging in their cycle.
Just outside the room the heavy boots of the militia thudded against the metal floors. The light flickered beneath the door as they moved back and forward.
They stood barely a foot apart in the semi-dark, at the foot of her bed. Her breathing seemed so loud. The helmet silenced his entirely.
He didn’t move. She could read so much from his body normally, the rage driving him when he marched, the focus in his steady hands when he took apart his weapons, the refusal to bend in his broad, tense shoulders. Then he looked at her, and she saw nothing. Only a blank mask, and a body that faced her but would never close the distance.
She lowered her head.
“I get it.” She turned towards the door.
He caught her arm. Her breath hitched. His hold was gentle, as soft as a plated gauntlet could be.
“You don’t.” His modulator was quiet, but harsh. It couldn’t be anything else. “I want you to stay. I want you to… I want you.”
She turned back. He was closer now. For a moment she felt the desperation to reach to her in his hold, in the tightening of his fingers, an urgency and need straining against a refusal to step closer.
She let out a shaky breath and looked up at him. Her hand rose to gently cup his jaw through the helmet. She hoped he could see the need in her eyes. The understanding she would extend if only he trusted her enough to try. How much she yearned for him.
The unblinking display looked back.
"You want me like this?" she whispered, desperation warring with rising anger. "Fully clothed, gloves on, your head turned away so our lips can never touch?”
we have three people who’ve been affected by the true hypnosis mic and two of them, nemu and kuukou, have physical items that represent their bonds, kuukou’s matching bandana and nemu’s aohitsugi bracelet
sasara’s the odd man out so i wonder if it’s smoking that represents the mcd bond????? but the fact that sasara’s trying to quit instead of already sober is striking me as strange, like the bandana and bracelet are notably missing but sasara’s is still lingering???? 🤔
i think what undertale fangames should really strive for is to push undertale's themes of mercy to the edge - push the PLAYER to see what their limits are on who deserves mercy.
the angst in your zombie au bREAKS MY HEART INTO PIECES (I LOVE IT VERY MUCH)
okay, okay, so!! if the kagebros got separated from reigen and teru when mob is still fine, i imagine that their reunion would be hEARTWRENCHING also, i'm a bit curious, would mob still be able to recognize teru and reigen? or would he thought about them as strangers?
(tbh, following your lore, i imagine mob would act a similarly like nezuko from demon slayer? but instead of little hums, his zombie sounds would more like babbling and incoherent mumbles :"D)
the reunion is fuckin AWFUL man it's SO gut-wrenching. both reigen and teru feared this for Months while looking for the brothers; pretty much the worst case scenario was that mob or ritsu or Both turned—a lot of humans prefer death over being a zombie any day, so the idea of ritsu or mob having to go through that and wander around aimlessly until starvation or smth else gets them,,,
it hurts them so much to think about. teru forces himself not to dwell on it and he's pretty good at that but reigen thinks abt it a lot and he's honestly not sure what scenario is worse. best case is that they're both alive and unturned, obviously, but what's the worst case? you'd think it's both of them getting killed, or turning, but reigen also knows that if One of them got killed/turned, the other would probably lose their mind, especially if they had to watch. the fact that they're kids makes this all three times worse and reigen has to act like he's Not worrying himself sick over the brothers while he tries to keep teru in high spirits
the reunion itself is rly fuckin gut-wrenching for them. they see mob from afar, wandered off just a bit from ritsu and tome who are just around the bend looting a place, and they book it bc ofc they do, it's mob!! but then they see how pale he is, and when he turns around they don't see that light in his eyes that's usually there and the red is dulled and dead looking,, teru almost moves in for a hug before he realizes mob looks vastly different when he Rly takes him in, and mob doesn't rly react too much besides staring at them blankly. the obvious answer is almost too horrifying to even consider, so it takes them a minute to rly,,realize what's going on
tome comes around the bend and shouts, cuz when humans and zombies mix it's usually guns pointed at zombie heads. ritsu comes running out after her and when he sees reigen and teru his thoughts go, in order: holy shit is that reigen and tero ohmygod oh my god they're alive they're alive ohmy god i could fucking cry, and ohmy god they see shige ohno oh no oh no
ritsu sounds like a lunatic when he pulls mob away from them on instinct and says that he's safe to be around and that he's "still him" and he's "not gone" and he's very aware of that. he's very, intimately aware that he sounds fuckin crazy, bc ofc he does, this is what all the crazy people in zombie movies sound like. but he doesn't care, he doesn't care if reigen or teru dismiss him as nuts—he has to make them understand that his brother is still in there somewhere
and yeah, they both kinda think that ritsu's lost his marbles a little bit, but while teru is focused on that and the fact that mob doesn't look like he's rly tuned into Anything that's happening rn, reigen is a bit more focused on the fact that both ritsu and mob look awful? they're both very skinny and very dirty, obviously barely scraping by. they're cut up and ritsu's jacket is basically blood and dirt with a little bit of green fabric mixed in. and just by the look in ritsu's eyes, reigen can tell, man ... reigen can tell ritsu is like.not okay at this point he's kinda lost it.
i think the most painful thing about this whole reunion in general is that later that night, when reigen and teru r finally like ok we get it he's,, he's still mob. we believe you (they want to believe him... [they Do believe him, later, wholeheartedly]) and they settle down someplace safe, teru asks how long mob's been like this. and ritsu has to answer "since we got separated" and they both have that to stew over while everybody else sleeps
they realize that ritsu likely watched mob turn, watched the entire process, and that process takes a long time. it's at least a week of deteriorating motor functions and cognitive skill, and the fact that ritsu stayed for that to keep mob company is .ough. and it doesn't end there bc ritsu obviously stayed after that too
given how these things usually go, ritsu probably did think about killing mob. it probably did cross his mind, bc that's basically what everybody's been told to do. kill them before they have a chance to do any more damage. and it's obvious that ritsu did not have it in him
ritsu not only did not have it in him to kill him, he didn't even have it in him to leave him there. the kid fucking took him with him. a zombie. and he's somehow made it work, for months. and the next few days are filled with watching him still treat mob like a brother and take care of him and gently steer him away from a bird he tries to follow down the wrong street.ritsu is as gentle and kind as he's ever been with his brother. and even tho they're both hungry and tired and barely making it, ritsu is doing a rly good job taking care of mob with what he's been given
the kid obviously wholeheartedly believes in a cure and that mob is still There. he's gone through the trouble to take care of him, and the grief of continuously seeing a loved one that many would consider effectively dead, to get him that cure. to get him his brother back. and mob doesn't seem to be in any pain or distress, so reigen and teru think that this path ritsu has followed is probably infinitely kinder than the mercy kill method they've been taught to do
i think they have a new respect for ritsu, after that reunion
Sampo isn't 100% on what his gender identity is and doesn't know if he cares to figure it out
Shout out to the person who said he goes with whatever is funny in the moment because it lives rent free in my brain
One of those people who's gender experience is "I am very content to say my experience is cis, but my feelings on it is more complicated than most people care to figure out"
Any pronouns, any terms mofo
One of those bisexuals that found out really young but autistic edition in the sense of it Genuinely never occurred to him that people are attracted to one gender till someone pointed it
Somewhere on the arospec, specifically in terms of intensity and the misalignment of wanting a relationship in comparison to how he is experiencing the emotions and has a hard time defining it. Usually is a fall fast type though
The being bisexual and gender things are usually things he borderline slams on the table when discussing if he wants to be in a relationship with someone
A lot more nervous about mentioning being polyam and tends to not mention it since he's fine with being mono if he was asked to be anyways
Hobby collector brand of adhd including but not limited to: stage make up, sewing, drawing, photography, lock picking, knot tying, underwater basket weaving, star gazing, and a few other ones with varing success
Does not know how to sit in a chair, more specifically borderline refuses to and will lean against any furniture instead of sitting because he's subconscious too alert that there is any point he might have to book it
Pretty good cook, but absolutely horrible baker. There is something about the exact measurements that get to him
Gepard joked once it was like he was making a bomb instead of a cake and Sampo just went "I KNOW HOW TO MAKE THOSE D:"
Has really good control over the wind element just chooses to keep that ace in his sleeve besides his daggers
Usually uses it while free running and he's by himself, just the pure enjoyment of physical moment and the speed of the sport and chosen solitude
His snow walking is also actually him just making little air pocket for him to walk on and some really precise weight distribution
The occasions Seele has tried to his Sampo, he uses it to dodge her and get he more riled up
One of the first people to realize Seele liked Bronya and has not let Seele live it down
"What do you want Koski?" "Oh, hello Sampo" "Hi Lady Bronya :), *turns* see someone has manners"
Multilingual from Masked Fools/internationally wanted criminal shenanigans. Dan Heng was the first to find out since he just was muttering to himself and Sampo commented on it
Does some translation work as one of his few legal business endeavors
Been thinking about Thirteen and Missy, thought I'd share my thoughts here too.
So, consider a Missy who, after the events of The Doctor Falls, actually makes it back to the Doctor. They travel together for a while. And maybe to begin with she's actually really trying hard to do things the Doctor's way - overcompensating even for what Simm!Master did, and she really does appear to have changed. The Doctor can't help herself, of course, she has hope and starts to really believe it. Maybe even Missy does too. But she can't keep it up, of course she can't, and she backslides massively and the Doctor is hearts-broken.
Idk man, I just have so many thoughts. Maybe one day I'll do something with it! And go further with exploring that wonderful line of "Your version of good is not absolute. It's vain, arrogant and sentimental" which I wish they'd done more with tbh
the higher-ups (and Yaga) immediately trying to leverage Gojo & Ieri's absence to put Yuuta on the roster??? God that's such a stark moment. Thank god Nanami and Gojo saw through that one immediately, because Yuuta wants to justify his own survival so badly he would've fallen straight into it.
That whole scene, with Yuuta immediately jumping on the opportunity to help people even though something is Extremely Wrong with him and he's on the brink of physical collapse--this boy is selfless to the point of self destruction and I am chewing the drywall about it. I love him so much.
If only he was able to summon his newly found homicidal rage in defense of himself, the higher-ups would no longer be a problem. Alas, this boy is Extremely Unwell.
(Sea Glass Gardens is absolutely incredible and i am obsessed with it in a way that is totally and 100% normal. I'm so normal about it, trust me <3 )
The thing about Yuuta is that he really is prime to be taken advantage of right now and the higher ups know it. They had him try to kill himself for them--they know that there's a window of opportunity that they can use to get him under their thumb and avoid The Problem of Gojo, which is, namely, having a human weapon who you cannot fully control. Gojo nailed it from the beginning: they want a magic gatling gun with no personality or free will. They learned their lesson with Gojo and are trying to rob Yuuta of his agency before he learns how to protect himself.
And Yaga's part in that scene really was meant to kind of emphasize how, even with the best intention's, he just doesn't work to protect the kids. Like. everything he said was technically true, and he meant it with the best of intentions. He's the guy who has to think of everyone's needs. he has to manage this crisis. he's got a lot of people hurt badly who just came out of a war, and a lot of people going into fights with some very aggravated curses spawning without sufficient manpower to address the danger and no healer to save them if they cut it a little too close. He didn't have the intention of manipulating or sacrificing Yuuta, but he was aware that it would come to his detriment and risk.
The issue is the higher ups. They don't give a shit about the people in their workforce. They should be the ones doing whatever it takes to solve this crisis and save their people--and if that means giving up on their machinations? They should have already done it. It's their responsibility.
They just don't care. They want Okkotsu Yuuta under their thumb, and their society hemorrhaging is treated like an opportunity, not a dire problem to be solved. They don't care if half a dozen of their own people need to die to do it. Hell, it's better if they do die--they can put it straight on Okkotsu for not being willing to sacrifice himself, when they should have been making whatever promises they had to in order to make this work.
Gojo's done this before, is the thing. He was Yuuta, a long time ago. Nanami was right there watching it happen. They both know what the higher ups do: They let society get to a crisis level and put all the responsibility on you to save it. they let you maneuver yourself into a vulnerable position as a result, and then they use it as leverage to put their goddamn boot on your neck.
The thing is that Gojo adopting megumi all those years ago really did put them into a crisis state. the zenin pitched the mother of all bitch fits trying to secure his unconditional return, and they were a huge percentage of jujutsu society's labor force and resource pools. instead of the higher ups managing the problem at all, they took advantage of the situation and shoved more and more of its weight and responsibility onto gojo, until he was dropping off his own kid at his abusers' compound thinking it was the only compromise that could resolve things. megumi paid the price for gojo not calling bullshit, and right now, with him in a hospital bed? gojo's less willing to repeat mistakes than ever.
he knows that they're going to use the safety and suffering of everyone else as the leverage against him, and he knows that as terrible as it is, he cannot blink first. He's played this game before, and he knows that the only way to get the higher ups to back off on something like this is to dig in your heels.
I think what happened to Megumi all those years ago and how bad it got before they put a stop to it is something that haunts all three of them. When they first started raising him, they were very young, and they were very broken, and they loved him very, very much. He was their little boy, and he was never the same after the Zenin. They were supposed to protect him, and they didn't, and not a single one of them has forgiven themselves for that.
Megumi was sort of sacrificed for the greater good when he was a kid. None of them thought that that was what they were doing when it happened, but that's what happened. His happiness, safety, and wellbeing were sacrificed to pacify the Zenin and make it easier on everyone else.
Megumi and Tsumiki had to become their non-negotiables after. They had to become the things they refused to compromise on. The Zenin would take miles and miles if you gave them a millimeter, let alone an inch.
Gojo didn't think he was compromising them when he left them on their own to deal with Geto's war. They were disgustingly self-sufficient kids. They had been alone for longer stretches of time when they were practically toddlers--they should have been fine on their own for a couple of weeks.
But they were still his kids, and he still left them alone for everyone else's sake, and now his kid is blind and half dead in a hospital bed. It's like being punched in the face by old mistakes.
So they're off the roster completely, all of them. And they're not compromising an inch on what their focus is, and they're not letting anything happen to any of the other kids in their care.
It's terrible that their coworkers are suffering, but it wouldn't be happening if the Zenin hadn't fucked with Gojo Satoru's kid, of all the goddamn people. It wouldn't be happening if the higher ups would actually do their job and start managing shit.
And if they use Yuuta as an anxiety riddled bandaid on the bullet hole in their society? Then they'd be sacrificing him the way they sacrificed Megumi all those years ago. And they have never been less willing to do that.
I'm so so glad you like the story! Thank you for talking with me!
the other fundamental flaw with alec goes to winslow is the assumption that alec could be even remotely cool about having to attend school and then having Children From Normal Society attempt to interact with him or god forbid hold any level of social authority over him. and that's not even talking about the teachers. he would snap so fast he'd think he was entirely calm but he would not make it through lunch without surreptitiously tripping anyone and everyone who annoyed him. like he would hear people talking about going to see a movie with their family that weekend or deciding to get ice cream together after school and it would turn him into the joker. he would find the emmas of the world funny for all of three seconds but one too many incidents of someone shoving him in the hall and he would reflexively trip them into the nearest locker (no power needed), slam their head in the door, say "whoops," really sarcastically, and then say "whoops" significantly more genuinely when he realizes they're bleeding profusely. That Boy Is Not Half As Chill As He Thinks He Is
Okay so if the whole wedding debacle hadn’t happened (which I’m still mad at Bonnie for because we deserved a Kai redemption arc and to see him finally have a chance to see what family could really be like and we could’ve had it if she hadn’t sent Kai back to a prison world) this is what I’d like to imagine uncle Kai would be like with baby Lizzie and Josie
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRTUwT1C/
HOW did this ask escape for so long?? I'm so stale.
BUT YES, that is so much the relationship they'd have, I'm giggling!!
And same, I'm so bitter that we couldn't have a redemption arc. I feel like Kai wouldn't be bad with kids as long as he isn't competing against them for 1.) having importance to the family / coven, and 2.) literal survival. Someone who's the eldest of six other kids, I actually think would be quite good with them, given the chance. Ugh, I so wish they kept him around and we could have scenes like that. And Jo / Liv / Bonnie, etc. all terrified and waiting for him to lose patience / mess up, but every time, he proves them wrong. 😭
yes, pax can shapeshift. no, it’s generally not a good idea to convince him to because he has a hard time reverting back. is being followed around by a giant dog sized bat as a companion worth it? is it ? he’d sulk in his tent and all the tadcrew would hear was [disgruntled bat noises]
from a postseries daisy x robbie fic because my hyperfixations never leave, they merely grow dormant:
The two times the Rider had been in someone else lasted an hour at most, and Robbie could always feel his looming return. Yet now, as Robbie bewilderingly traverses the streets of Austin, one hour passes, then two, and still he does not feel his vengeful companion. His body is his own.
Toast please I'm begging for more details on that folklore au!!!
Anon I'm so sorry, I really don't have that much on hand! And I would really hesitate to call it a folklore au because I don't really know if it is really a folklore au! I would actually direct you over to @persicipen for their delightful fic series on a more folklore take!
My thoughts/au is a little different if I'm being honest and far less thought out! Actually if I'm really being honest, there isn't any actual concrete au to begin with! It's always changing based on whatever new little ideas I come up with!
