Aurelia, daughter of Barley (Onward)!

Nobody in New Mushroomton expected Barley Lightfoot to settle down… well, ever. Let alone first out of the Lightfoot brothers. But, to the surprise of the entire town, he did. And with a woman just as equally nerdy as him.

Aurelia, their eldest daughter, was a surprise bundle of joy to the parents. Visited as a baby by her Fairy Godmother, the young elf was blessed with the gift of beauty… which, in Aurelia’s eyes as she grew older, backfired.

Because she couldn’t simply go places without drawing attention, she’d noticed. Anyone near her age, whether they were attracted to women or not, found themselves attracted to her for at least a few minutes, and it quickly became something that was simply exhausting. After all, why should she need to put up with the stares, the dropped coffees and snacks, and whispered comments, all the time, when she was just going to Moonbucks for coffee before school?

But she didn’t let it affect how she interacted with people. Aurelia remained kind, and caring, and ready to do whatever she could to help others. And it helped that she, much like her uncle, was a mage - and she was determined to do what mages of old had once done, and earn the attention of a deity.

So she trained, and she worked, and she used her questionable “gift” to her advantage, and proved herself worthy of being claimed by a patron, proved that she would go on adventurous quests in their name, and would use her magic to better the world under their protection. And she was chosen by the Goddess of Love and Beauty Herself, Aphrodite.

Aurelia, quite amused with herself, didn’t hesitate to start working Aphrodite into her life and her magic, using her powers to spread love around New Mushroomton as best she could, encouraging her classmates to love themselves.

And then she decided she wanted to spice up her life a bit. Aurelia applied to Auradon Prep without telling her parents, surprising them with her acceptance letter when it came in the mail. Hopefully, maybe, she could learn to deal with her “gift” a little better there, surrounded by strangers who’d never been exposed to it before. Maybe she could even find a way to get rid of it.

Renée, daughter of Captain Hook!

After being caught following cursing a baby, Bella was sent to the Isle of the Lost with the other villains and criminals of Auradon. Did she regret it, did she feel remorse? No, strangely enough.

It was there that she ran into the infamous James Hook, and, well...

One thing led to another and it landed her with twins. Hook named the younger and she named the elder, leaving her with Renée and a little girl who would always go by CJ.

James had two elder children, Harriet and Harry, from prior affairs, and she paid no mind to them until Renée was older...

Because little Renée was attached to her half-siblings in the most chaotic way possible. She looked up to the pair, rejecting most of the magical and witchy roots of her maternal side and embracing the cutthroat pirate lifestyle of her father, brother, and sister... especially her brother.

Renée absolutely idolized Harry. She wanted to be just like her brother in every possible way. She trailed after him like a duckling growing up, and it was guaranteed that whatever it was Harry was doing... his sister would be behind him to do it next.

Now, that's in no way suggesting Renée is a perfect clone of her older brother. After all, she was still Bella's daughter, and the woman would be damned if her child didn't take after her somewhere. Renée has a good understanding of magic and can't wait to get out from under a barrier to give that a whirl. She's a good little actress and in many ways is seen as a "little darling" by many adults, mistaken for angelic now that she's in Auradon by many adults she's met since leaving the Isle. She tends to capitalize on this and uses it to get her way with adults.

This originally had the ecchi tag on its anime entry on AniList…or, at least, that’s how it was in my memory…but now that I see it doesn’t have that, it’s just another reincarnation isekai-type series. Let’s dig into it!

I…think this guy is meant to be portrayed as “hot” because he has the piercing eyes and he’s tall (against the girls in what will presumedly be his harem), but he kind of looks like your standard Potato-kun in a white outfit…so, uh…*shrugs*

Uh…is that guy meant to be Indian? You can’t get more obvious than the “Indu” family. Update: You see his brother later and Leorg has fairer skin, so maybe not.

LOL, “Flame of Darkness” makes someone nothing but a chuunibyou.

Uh…this is called The Misfit of Demon King Academy, y’know? Anos (Anoth?) is gonna get in, you bet your butts.

If Zepes died several times over the course of this episode…would one more death actually matter? (Not really, to be honest. Zepes is a scumbag.)

Come to think of it, this anime got postponed due to COVID, yeah? Was that why there was a sakuga spot earlier…?

Was that Sasha (Misha’s sister)? I found her name while checking if the anime was postponed.

I like the colour choices in this show, at least.

I don’t think this show has the best sense of comedic timing. Let your jokes breathe, dammit! That’s what comedic beats are for!

In a season with more offerings, I might get rid of this or pause it, but the season’s fairly sparse as it stands (darn virus!) so it stays.

Update: I didn’t notice, but an Anime News Network staff member wrote that Anoth’s surname is familiar…if you read Harry Potter.

Healin’ Good PreCure 13

Gotta start in the middle for this and work our way back. Note I did watch the 1st 2 eps without subs earlier this year when they were on the official PreCure YouTube, so I’m ahead of most people.

(From wandering the wiki and the news) I’ve seen nothing but pink/blue/yellow Cures these days, so I kind miss the more adventurous colours like green and orange…but then again, I never really liked green. It’s the colour of envy and…as petty as it sounds, I think I developed that bias because green is stereotypically the colour of rot, vomit (aside from anime’s rainbow vomit) and stinky things.

I didn’t notice this, but there’s a faint highlight on the Cures’ eyes (red for Grace, purple for Fontaine and blue for Sparkle).

It’s a drone! In PreCure! Yay! (It finally hit me exactly how much of a distant dream it’s been – from watching Suite and episodes of most of the other PreCure ‘til now – watching PreCure legally as a simulcast is! It’s crazy and it only took, what…5 years between Suite and this? 16 if you count from Futari wa to Healin’ Good.)

Is it that drone?

Hah? This is almost like the electricity-themed PreCure I came up with on the fan wiki. It’s not like I could sue Toei for it, though…they own that stuff, I only own what came out of my own imagination.

The subs say “Rate”, but “rate” has a meaning in English. No wonder the initial wiki translations say “Latte”, especially because the queen is “Teatine” to match.

Okay, so Mei is the sis and Yota is the brother. Got it.

Hey! What if there was a PreCure where the villains had devastated another world before? That would really raise the stakes.

“[T]hunders” (sic)? Thunder is the sound, lightning is the flash. Which one is it?

I see. As soon as they identified it as the Element of Lightning, I sort of guessed they could add it to their repertoire later, and I was right.

Its’s nice to see they put a woman in the moving company as well. Proves that girls can do anything they set their minds to, even what are supposedly “men’s jobs”.

I guess from the face I should’ve expected the element to talk, like the Fairy Tones from Suite, but I didn’t really figure that out until I saw it talk,

I feel like Hinata should’ve gone to see how Mei made her juice. That way, the two might be able to make similar-tasting juice…but that’s just an idea.

Healin’ Good PreCure 14

I feel like Byogens were responsible for Nodoka’s sickness, much like they are for Latte.

“Energy Source” seems to refer to a place where energy appears…I know that sounds a bit dumb if you don’t realise genki hakken means something like “appearance of energy (for a person)”, but…yeah, the PreCure series is like this. Unfortunately, that’s what you have to deal with.

I feel like this “teamwork overcomes all hardships” message is important in this time of COVID-19.

Guaiwaru = “condition is bad”, or ill health (guai ga warui).

Is that the element of air? I thought the PreCure would’ve used their element of lightning to fix the steamer, but hey, teamwork works too.

I’m a weeny bit peevy they translate minna to “girls”. It’s correct in context when it’s been translated that way, but minna means “everybody”.

I imagined Hinata saying “Watashi no smartphone ga!” instead of “Atarashii sumaho ga hoshii!”

Eh…COVID-19 means I gotta sample things I’m not so crazy about.

Why is one of the first lines in this show “My behind hurts!”?

Bristol? Is this England?...Nope, it’s a place called “Mamkestell”.

I was thinking this girl…I think the reviews said her name was Tiara…was going to sing to the flower to make it perk up again, but nup, she whistled to it. That seems a bit irrelevant, to be honest. (I would prefer an all or nothing approach to a wish-washy approach like this…as in, if this is an idol show, then either go all in with the singing and dancing, or do something else that’ll catch my attention.)

Tiara’s face looks hella generic.

For some reason, I get this ominous feeling when the word “witch” is mentioned…must be the instinct from Madoka popping up again.

Lemme guess. Lynette is the bookworm?...*sigh* Just another method of showing a character is a bookworm without actually showing their reading a book, which I think is counterintuitive.

God of High School 1

First Webtoon series I’m covering here.

Oh, I checked out the first chapter of the webtoon because CR linked it to their anime page. The only difference I’ve seen from that, aside from fleshing out the backgrounds, is…that creepy skull (?) on the wall.

You can tell it’s Korean when I don’t understand what the text says. (I don’t know Korean, but I do know some Chinese and Japanese.) Update: This is Japanese-dubbed, but they left the Korean text in.

That intro is much more powerful now that the backgrounds are fleshed out.

Ooh, the colours in the OP are very nice!

Hmm? They’re starting with the grandpa, rather than starting with “I’m Mori Jin, 17 years old”? Good choice.

The expressions in this show are funny. I like them already.

- Yan Qing used to be apart of a Gang, and 100% is a flirty man ( with standards ). He has his tattoos covered up. Now a days, he works as a food service due to his shady past.

- Achilles works as a bartender at a nightclub. He has one ex who they broke up due to their goals conflicting ( Achilles is trying to travel while he’s young, while his ex doesn’t agree. Hence why they broke up).

- Suzuka is an actress who uses ins.tragram as a public way to showcase her new roles. I am so willing to delve into the culture of s.ocial media and other sub-cult.ures.

- Gawain is a body guard, hired by famous people at times, to helping people out. He’s known for ordering one order at moonbucks.

Barry catches you at it and tells you you’re being stupid, so he doesn’t get his own puzzle. You’re still annoyed at him for making Robbie bust through your original switch puzzle anyway.

The next morning Adrien Agreste and Nino Lahiffe stood in a queue inside the airport at the security control waiting for their turn. The two took with them a bag pack on their back and Nino had around his neck his headphones for the later use in the plane when they‘re traveling.

„Why did you buy a first class ticket?“ The Moroccan guy asked his friend, glancing at the smartphone of the blonde, where he had his ticket saved.

„I don‘t know, I‘m used to it“ Adrien replied putting his phone back in his pocket.

„Well you‘re only sitting for three hours in the plane, it wouldn‘t really matter if you picked second class instead“

„I know, but I also reserved for the connecting flight first class too. A little more comfort for the other six hours sitting inside the plane“

„Well you‘re right“ Nino agreed. „But you don‘t have to worry about the long-distance flights nowadays. Now there‘s more comfort for both classes“

„That‘s good“ Adrien said taking his bag pack off his back and lied it on a box the security man had placed on the roll band, followed by Adrien dropping his bag on it, then placed his smartphone inside the box and he walked to the body scanner and passed under the bow, making over him a green light blink and Adrien smiled at the second security, that stood in front of the bow watching the passengers passing there. The woman waved with her hand signing the blonde to keep walking to the end of the roll band to wait for his friend and the bags. Adrien chuckled as at Nino the light had turned red, then the woman called the boy to get into a cabin to get checked up before he could continue.

Later in the terminal, the two friends walked together passing by the stores and waiting halls searching for the gate, where their plane would arrive for them to board.

„Does your father know, you‘re going to Japan?“ Questioned Nino the Frenchman.

„No“ The blonde answered. „I didn‘t tell him yet“

„Are you?“

„Maybe when I‘m in Japan“ Replied Adrien. „I don‘t want him to worry about me“

„Right, “ Nino said continuing to walk with his friend, then they stopped by a coffee shop next to the gate number 35 afterward Adrien checked on the screen in front of the entrance showing the estimated time of the boarding time and the company of the vehicle the two boys had booked to fly. „Well we‘re here, “ Nino said looking at the screen, then Adrien walked at the coffee shop, followed by the dark-skinned boy running behind him to stop behind another man ordering a meal.

„My dude step aside, I‘ll offer you a coffee, “ Nino said smiling at the friend, who shook his head.

„No, no, no you don‘t have to do that. I‘m paying my own“

„Come on, it‘s just this one time“ Nino pleaded, then Adrien nodded at his friend.

„Alright, only this time, “ Adrien said making the friend smile.

„What do you want to drink?“

„A cappuccino“ Responded Adrien, then Nino looked back to the front seeing the customer leave with a sandwich, then Nino approached the cashier to order the drinks.

„Good morning, I would like to have an espresso and a cappuccino“ The brunette boy ordered.

„Sure and would you have anything to eat?“ Questioned the young woman behind the register.

„Three passionfruit macarons please“ The Morrocan ordered, then waited for the cashier to prepare the drinks.

„They sell passionfruit macarons here?“ Questioned Adrien surprised.

„Awesome“ Adrien said, then waited together with Nino for the order, then Adrien looked around the hall at the various passengers walking or sitting waiting for the arrival of their plane. „The airport has always many people here, isn‘t it Nino?“

„Yeah“ Agreed the brunette. „Believe it or not, I once saw a guy, that looked like me, but with black hair. That was really freaky“

„I got many doppelgangers, but dressed or cosplayed as me. No one has ever managed to look exactly like me, beside Wayhem and…...“ Adrien told his friend while looking around the airport, then he saw a young woman with short blue hair crossing the terminal carrying a red bag and he gazed astonished at the looks of that woman.

„Who? Marc?“ Questioned Nino looking back at Adrien, then tilt his head, when he saw Adrien gazing at the hall afterward Nino looked at the same direction and smiled as he found out, why Adrien was looking away. „What a coincidence, I didn‘t expect to walk the same as Kagami, “ Nino said watching together with Adrien the blue-haired woman walk to the seats near the gate and sat down picking out from her jacket the smartphone, then she typed on its display and placed it next to her ear to call someone.

„She‘s still as pretty as I remember“ Adrien confessed glancing at his friend, which rolled his eyes in amusement at his friend‘s crush, that still was present after all the years.

„Yep, she does bro“ Nino agreed, then Adrien starts to move forwards towards her, but Nino holds the blonde tightly on the shirt‘s collar. „Hey, hey, hey not so fast“ The Morrocan warned the blonde, who looked back at the friend neutrally. „We‘re going to do that the other way“ Nino suggested. „We meet her inside the plane like we have not expected to see her on the plane. What do you think?“

„Sounds plausible“ The Frenchman agreed. „And what if we sit in the same row?“ Questioned the blonde.

„There are like 20 rows in that plane. That would be very lucky if you had to sit right next to her“

„But Kagami‘s family never travels second class“ Adrien mentioned crossing his arms with a smirk. „I actually got around 80% of a chance to be sitting next to her, when there are four or five rows only in the first class“

„Good and listen, if you two are really going to sit beside each other, have a regular chat. Ask her how she‘s doing, how her life in Tokyo is...and avoid any questions about your crush for now“

„But she knew I had….I HAVE a crush on her. Why shouldn‘t I?“

„I don‘t want her to break your heart right now when she answers something about her wedding“ The dark-skinned boy explained. „I mean, let‘s just see the facts, Kagami really loves this Hiroki with all her heart, would you really want to ruin it for her?“ The brunette questioned, then Adrien looked at Kagami sitting on the chair laughing while she was on the phone making Adrien sight.

„I‘ve been waiting for so long for the moment I and Kagami would see each other again“ The former model complained to his friend grabbing him on the shirt. „It‘s not fair“

„I know dude, but face it, your chances at the moment are low. Between you and Kagami really needs to spark for you two to retrieve your old feelings for each other back. I don‘t know about her mother, but how would her mother react?“

„Her mother liked me. I don‘t think, that would be a problem“ Adrien said, then Nino received the order on a tableau, which the boy took from the woman with a smile.

„Thanks, I‘d like to pay with my card, is that possible?“ Questioned the brunette earning a nod from the cashier. Adrien and Nino sat in front of the table next to the window of the airport to take their meals, then Adrien observed on the field of the airport the planes, that were parked on the ground. On the field Adrien saw a French airplane taxing fast on the runway, getting near to the end of the road and lifting the nose up in the air followed by the whole body of the plane taking off in the air and after a couple of seconds it retracting its landing gear into its belly. Adrien kept observing the staff working out on the roads around the vehicles, then from another runway, Adrien watched another airplane of the same company arrive and head at the terminal, where Adrien sat together with Nino.

„Look I think that‘s the plane we‘re getting checked in“ The blonde pointed out to his best friend, who looked through the window to see the Airbus getting closer to the gate of the building and stop next to it, so the staff could attach it at the door of the vehicle.

„It arrived earlier, “ Nino said checking the time on his smartphone. „How much do you bet we‘re leaving a little delayed out of here?“

„One week I pay your coffee at Moonbucks“ Adrien responded earning a nod from the brown-skinned boy.

„Deal, “ Nino said holding out his hand for Adrien to shake.

Nino and Adrien stood behind a few passengers, which were passing their tickets on a scanner until it turned a green light on for them to be able to enter the corridor.

„What‘s the time difference between Paris and Saint. Petersburg?“ Questioned the blonde changing looks with his friend.

„Uhm I think it was an hour forward“ Responded Nino. „I could just add on my world clock app that city in it“ Nino said exchanging on his phone the information, then he entered into another app to show on his screen a bar code from his flight ticket, then he waited until a man, that was in front of him passed the flight ticket on the scanner, then waited for the man to pass and for the door to close again, so he could pass his smartphone over the scanner. Nino passed through the door and next to him Adrien managed to pass to with his smartphone, then both walked the corridor of the gate along arriving at the end of it, where the entrance of the plane was and a few people stood around the door, waiting for the people to move inside the plane.

„Which row do you have?“ Questioned the Morrocan guy.

„Row Three E,“ Responded the blonde, then the two stepped forward closer to the entrance of the door, then Adrien looked down at the left side of the entrance, then he discovered that the plane had been named by someone famous. „Hey they named the plane after Chat Noir“

„Really?“ Asked the friend and Adrien showed with his flat hand the letters spelling the name of the Parisian cat superhero. „Cool, I wonder if Carapace has one too“

„Maybe it does“ Adrien responded shrugging his shoulders, then both stepped in the plane passing by two flight attendants, which were greeting the passengers.

„Good morning“ Greeted the woman with a smile at Adrien, then Adrien stopped in the middle of the corridor as he saw Kagami again trying to stow her bag in the overhead bin.

„And?“ Questioned Nino looking over Adrien‘s shoulder. „Aren‘t you going to help her?“ Suggested the Morrocan looking up at his friend, which nodded and approached Kagami, then grabbed her bag from the side, making her wide her eyes as she noted someone trying to help her.

„Can I help you?“ The blonde asked and the blue-haired woman looked at the blonde and got surprised as she recognized the blonde.

„Adrien? Adrien Agreste?“ The Japanese questioned gazing at the blonde, that nodded at her.

„I didn‘t know, you were in Paris“

„I had to take care of a few things, but I‘m really glad to see you again, “ Kagami said embracing the blonde. Adrien‘s face turned pink as his crush had given him a hug, then Adrien smiled and placed his own arms behind her.

„Me too“ The Frenchman added enjoying the moment with her. Nino stood beside the two and tapped Adrien on the shoulder.

„I don‘t want to burst a bubble, but people want to pass“ Nino mentioned afterward Adrien saw around ten passengers waiting for Adrien and Kagami to step aside for them to pass.

„Oh….I‘m sorry“ Apologized Adrien following Kagami down at their seats so that Nino and the other passengers could pass.

„Think on what I said dude, “ Nino said disappearing behind the curtains, then Adrien quickly turned around as he heard Nino speak.

„What?“ Questioned Adrien as Nino had gone in the second class.

„I think he said you should think about what he said“

„Oh okay, “ Adrien said, then took from his back his backpack off and placed it in the inside of the overhead bin next to Kagami‘s and sat down next to her in the middle of the row.

„Do you enjoy sitting beside the window? The son of Gabriel Agreste asked earning a nod from the daughter from the Tsurugi clan, who looked out of the window at another airplane, that was being pushed back by a tug to the field.

„Me too. The view is just amazing, mostly when you‘re up in the sky“ Adrien said earning a nod from the girl.

Adrien sat on his seat watching the passengers walk the corridor of the Airbus up, then started to whistle. Kagami had taken from her jacket out her smartphone to turn on the flight mode, therefore she put it back in the pocket and looked to Adrien who was just put the seatbelt on, afterward he had done the same to his smartphone like Kagami and had put it back in his jacket‘s pocket.

„So….you‘re going to Japan too, right?“ Questioned the brown-eyed woman earning a nod from the blonde.

„Yes“ Responded Adrien. „I saw yesterday the invitation to your wedding and...yeah, “ Adrien said avoiding eye contact with the girl hiding hid sadness about that. „Also congratulations to your engagement“

„Thank you, “ Kagami said looking at Adrien, who gazed now a little neutrally at the woman. „I‘m surprised how quickly you and Nino reacted to the invite. Some messaged me, it wouldn‘t work out for them, because they couldn‘t take a vacation or a couple of free days to come. Then the timezone is also a problem for them to get used to it,“

„Yeah, it is“ Responded Adrien. „If they had enough days, they could manage to get more or less used to the timezone in Japan“

„Well, you and Nino were smart in coming earlier“ The Japanese woman complimented.

„Thank you“ Replied Adrien. „We appreciate it“ „That‘s great, “ Kagami said with a giggle, making Adrien smile a little amatory.

From the second class on the corridor, the cabin master appeared along with Nino Lahiffe chatting.

„I apologize for these circumstances once again Mr. Lahiffe. I hope you still enjoy our flight“ The man said giving Nino the hand to shake, in which he did.

„No problem, nothing bad happened, “ Nino said taking his backpack from his back down.

„If you need anything, just press the orange call button“ The maitre de cabin explained the brunette guy.

„Sure my dude. Thank you“ Nino said stowing the bag inside the overhead bin, as the man had made his way back to the second class.

„What happened?“ The best friend questioned the Morrocan, who sat down on the seat next to Adrien.

„Some dude back there started to treat me like shit, just because of my skin complexion“ Nino explained. „That dude had warned the guy to behave, then he sent me here as the guy kept behaving like an ass“

„You‘re lucky, “ Adrien said watching Nino put his seatbelt on and put his headphones on.

„I wouldn‘t mind listening to him, cause I would spend the whole flight like this listening to my beats“ Nino explained the friend. „You won‘t mind, if I do that for the rest of the flight, right?“

„No of course not“

„Good and if I were you, I would take this chance and get to work, if you know what I mean, “ Nino said emphasizing the last words quieter to avoid Kagami from hearing it. Adrien looked back at Kagami, that was looking out of the window at the field. Adrien glanced back at Nino nodding, then turned back to Kagami.

„Uhm Kagami?“ Adrien called for the woman, who turned her head back at the old best friend. „Uh….how‘s your life going in Tokyo, so far?“

„Good“ Responded the blue-haired woman.

„That sounds great“ Adrien confessed. „I‘m sorry I haven‘t asked you that much, I lost all my phone numbers I had on my phone as I had let him fall into a water fountain“

„Oh that‘s why I didn‘t get any more messages“

„I still would have texted you, I just had very bad luck and couldn‘t restore them all back, cause they were saved on the phone and not the chip“

„That‘s okay it happens“

„Yeah, “ Adrien said smiling softly at the girl, showing him comprehension for his accident in the past.

„And how has your life been so far?“ Questioned the Japanese woman. „Did you move out of your parents' house or anything special?“

„Well, I‘m living with Nino, Kim, Max and Nathaniel in a commune along with their girlfriends. Well Nino is single and so is Max actually or I think he has a girlfriend I don‘t know it exactly“

„And you?“ Asked the blue-haired woman. „You‘re still single?“

„Yeah“ Adrien replied a little sad. „I don‘t know, but the only girls that are interested in me are either fangirls or golddiggers and I don‘t want to date any of them,“

„Soon or later the right person will find you, Adrien, believe me, “ Kagami comforted the man. „It‘s just a matter of time“

„Sure, “ Adrien said leaning back on his seat releasing a sigh, making Kagami glance neutral at him.

„Adrien listen.....are you interested in when we arrive in Tokyo to take a little trip?“ Questioned Kagami. „You know to show you everything the city has to offer?“

„We two?“ Questioned Adrien looking at her.

„Nino can come too if he wants“ Added Kagami.

„Sounds like an amazing idea Kagami“ Responded Adrien. „Just like old times….sort of, we rarely were spending the time together with us three“

„Well if he doesn‘t come it‘s gonna be like the good old times, “ Kagami said earning a nod from the blonde.

„We‘ll see, “ Adrien said looking at Nino, which winked at Adrien confusing Adrien, afterward Adrien realized as Nino showed him his smartphone, that was muted, that Nino had heard their conversation. „Thanks, bro, “ Adrien said, then leaned back on his seat listening to the announcement of the airplane.

„Madame, Monsieur Bienvenue à bord. Welcome on board ladies and gentlemen. For your safety and comfort, please pay attention to the following safety performance“ The person on the small TV screen said introducing five ladies from different cultures sitting on a chair for the demonstration, which all the people were watching, while the plane had started to tax back.

How would the RFA + V + Saeran pamper themselves? I've got the most lovely image of Zen getting a manicure, and 707 would definitely be the 'feel my legs i just shaved and they're soo smooth' person.

 Before anyoneasks.. yes, I did look up what the parody name of each company was in MysticMessenger (Noogle, NouTube, Moonbucks…), and I’m planning to use them since it’stechnically ~their~ world.

   ● Yoosung is a broke college student, so anythingthat involves him buying himself some nice things is out of the question.

   ● But… he wants to try something different.

  ● From the Christmas DLC, it’s canon that Yoosung enjoysusing face-masks, as he had tried them on after being given them by Zen.

  ● So he asks Zen to give him some recommendations fordifferent cheap face-masks that would relax him.

  ● After buying them, he’ll go home and put anything thatwould stress him out of his sight.

  ● College textbooks? In the closet. Class notes? Wedgedbetween some books in a bookcase.

   ● He even hides his phone to make sure Seven won’t tryto call him in the middle of his me-time.

  ● I can just imagine Yoosung with his usual two bobbypins on one side of his hair and then two more on the right side to keep hishair from ruining the face-mask.

  ● After taking the mask off he’ll just stroke his facefor like an hour because of how smooth it is

   ● He’ll also try to pamper himself in smaller ways.

   ● He’ll attempt to do a few poses, but he has thebalance of a newborn giraffe and the flexibility of a stick, so he just ends uptumbling down to the floor.

 Jaehee

  ● When Jumin decides to finally give Jaehee somedays off, she promises to herself that she will make the most out of them.

  ● I imagine that Jaehee will go back to training Judofor a little bit, to keep the knowledge inside her head and her body fit.

  ● She’ll also go to some sort of tea store, where shebuys some fancy natural teas that will help her relax.

  ● Every day when she comes back from Judo, she’ll take arelaxing bath and then brew a new tea and accompany it with a plate ofbiscuits, before settling in to the sofa with some comfy clothes for the restof the night.

  ● She binge-watches almost all of the musicals that Zenhas been in, along with some of his singing performances that were put up on NouTube.   

   ●  Baeheeis probably the one to get pampered the most.

   ● By this, I mean that as soon as Zen hears that TheTrust Fund Kid™ has let Jaehee some days off, he immediately books a spaappointment for her.

 ● She gets massages, manicures, pedicures, facials…literally everything.

 ● Like she said during the Christmas DLC, she earns alot of money but she never has the time to properly spend it.

 ● So, she’ll go out to the shops and buy herself somenew clothes, shoes, accessories, and even some books that caught her eye.

 ● While she still has time, she plans out some ways inwhich she could take breaks and relax during her workdays.

 ● She’ll make a promise to herself to go out and buysome scented candles, so that when she has to come home to work, she can lightsome up and relax.

 ● In addition to doing all of that, she will go and lookup some recipes that are easy to make, so she can quickly make them for herselfwhen she’s working. 

 ● By the end of her well-deserved break, Jaehee feelslike an entirely new woman.

 Zen

  ● When itcomes to pampering himself, he likes to do it one day at a time and in themiddle of doing something stressful.

  ● It’slike deciding to take everything easy on a Wednesday and then continue workingthe next day.

  ● Likethe anon said, he will 100% go out to get himself a manicure.

  ● He’llprepare some comfy clothes for the day and he’ll put his hair up in a bun. (whata babe)

  ● He’llwalk in to the spa sipping on some sort of natural tea from Moonbucks,sunglasses on and his usual radiant smile.

  ● Eventhe straightest of guys are swooning over him like what??

  ● Whilehe’s getting the manicure and pedicure, he’ll still be sipping on his freakingtea, looking like some sort of Hollywood superstar.

  ● When he’sdone there, he’ll return home and just use like three facemasks and any andevery skincare product imaginable.

  ● At somepoint during the day, Zen will be angrily typing away at his phone with afacemask on while venting about Jumin Han.

  ● Consideringwhat his career is, he decides to rest his voice for that entire day.

  ● He’llonly speak when truly necessary (like when he went to the spa or ordered hisdrink).

  ● Sincehe’s also the mom-type of guy, he’ll look up some drinks/foods that help histhroat so that he can be fully rested.

  ● Duringthat day, he’ll force himself not to have any beer and not to smoke. Albeit henever does it incredibly frequently, today is one of the many days in which hecompletely restrains himself from doing so.

  ● He’llalso watch his own musicals at the end of the day…. It’s Zen that we’re talkingabout, what were you expecting?

 Jumin

  ● Eventhough Jumin has a lot of money, he’s never been the type of person to buy manythings for himself.

  ● He’svery humble when it comes to spending money on personal things.

  ● Though,when his father tells him that he should take a day off since he has beenworking nonstop and suggests that he does some things for himself for once, heagrees.

  ● Becauseof this, he decides to take Elizabeth the 3rd out on her little cagewith wheels so that he can walk her around the stores.

  ● He, of course,chooses to spend more money on Elizabeth the 3rd than on himself.

  ● Hepulls the little cage around with him into pet stores, where he throws treatsupon treats into a cart, as we all many gifts and toys for his dear Elizabeth.

  ● It’squite the sight, really. A six-foot tall man clad in a complete suit, pulling acage with a cat in it behind him, throwing any cat product that seems remotelyinteresting to him into a shopping cart, and a couple of bodyguards trailingbehind him.

  ● He gotmore than one questioning look, to say the least.

  ● When hearrives at his penthouse, he takes every product out of its packaging and letsElizabeth test them.

  ● Thepoor cat has to have her food bowl taken away from her because of how manytreats she ate.

  ● At theend of the night, he’ll simply have a nice meal and he’ll change into somethingmore comfortable.

  ● He’lllounge around for a while before settling down on a small sofa before one ofthe many windows of his penthouse with a book in hand.

  ● He’llhave some classical music playing in the background, preferably some pianoaccompanied by a violin, while taking a sip of wine every now and then.

  ● Otherthan that, he prefers to pamper himself in very simple ways, considering howhis attitude towards himself is.

  ● A walkin the park here, some light exercising there, a couple of minutes of staringinto his aquarium…

 Seven

   ● Afterbeing forced by literally everyone to take a day or two off of work, he agreesto take things smoothly for a couple of days before taking a full day off.

  ● When heactually takes his day off, he decides to actually leave the bunker,considering how he barely ever goes outside, and needs to take vitamin Dsupplements every day to prevent him from having a vitamin D deficiency. (Ihave to take vitamin D3 every day because of the same reason, rip me)

  ● He’llhave his headphones over his ears, listening to his favorite music while takinga stroll around the city.

  ● Thepath that he took “coincidentally” led him to a cat café near lunchtime.

  ● He boughthimself a nice, big lunch since he usually only eats Honey Buddha Chips and PhDPepper for every meal.

  ● Sincehe actually doesn’t want to be kicked out of the café, he treats the catsnicely, and even uses the laser from his phone to get the cats on a wild chasearound his table.

  ● When hegets back home (Seven you were only out for like two hours??), he’ll bein the mood to wear a dress, but his legs are hairy af, so he’ll make it hismission to completely shave his legs.

  ● He’llthrow on so much lotion that everyone is surprised he didn’t die of some sortof chemical poisoning.

  ● But hislegs end up being soooooooo smooth???

  ● He justruns over to Saeran with his pants rolled up and he’ll just scream “TOUCH MYLEGS”

  ● Saeran knowsthat there’s no way that he’s getting out of this, so he’ll just sigh andstroke his brother’s leg once…

  ● Saerancan’t bring himself to stop stroking his brother’s leg (as weird as it sounds).

  ● Sincehe’s constantly travelling around the world to take photographs, he decides tostay within the boundaries of his city, in order to ‘catch up with his roots’.

 ● Thissweet man will spend hours choosing candles to buy. He ends up with morecandles than he’ll ever need in three lifetimes, but the smile on his facewhile picking them out is so bright no one can stop him.

  ● If he’sin the mood to talk, he’ll drop by Jumin’s penthouse and have a long chat thatlasts until the late night.

  ● If Juminproposes that he stays the night because of the time, he won’t refuse, and thenext day he’ll continue catching up with what’s been going on in either of themen’s lives.

  ● He’salso very likely to want to stay inside for a while, so he’ll give himself sometime off of taking photographs and he’ll just stay inside reading some books.

Saeran

  ● Saeran’sused to doing nothing for the entire day ever since he moved in with hisbrother, so his days are overall pretty chill stress-wise.

  ● Wheneverhe wants to give himself a little treat, he’ll go out on a peaceful walk,preferably where there’s little to no people.

  ● He’llgo into an ice cream shop, where he gets the biggest cone they have in hisfavorite flavor.

  ● I alsoenvision him going into a candy store, where he buys lots and lots of sweets tolast him for at least an entire year.

  ● I hcthat Saeran is actually really good at drawing, but just doesn’t like showinghis art to anyone.

  ● So, he’llgo out with a couple of pencils and a sketchbook to some sort of forest orpark, and he’ll sketch out his surroundings.

   ● If he’s feeling extra artistic, he’ll even stay for alittle while longer to fully color the sketches.

  ● He’llprobably look up some sort of animal shelter that allows visitors to play withthe animals, and he’ll end up playing with all the different little animals.

  ● Saeranabsolutely loves looking at the sky, so he’ll drive to some secluded placewhere he has a view of the entire city, and he’ll sit down with a blanket towatch the day turn into night.

  ● Thestars will be his company as he watches them appear across the sky, every oncein a while seeing a shooting star pass by.

  ● Thoughwhen he returns home, Saeyoung keeps insisting that he strokes his legs forsome reason??

FEATURE: Anime vs. Real Life – “The Devil is a Part-Timer!”

Crunchyroll has recently been adding shows left and right to its ever-growing anime catalog, one of them being one of my favorite anime of the past few years – The Devil is a Part-Timer! So now that it’s on Crunchyroll, why not take a quick look at some of the show’s real-world locations?

  Just inches away from conquering the whole world of Ente Isla, the Devil’s advance gets foiled by the legendary hero Emilia Justina, forcing him to retreat through a magical portal to an unknown destination. And where else in the universe would the defeated demon lord end up in, than in the bustling metropolis of Tokyo? However, being stranded in the middle of Shinjuku without any money and only a little bit of magical power left, he soon finds himself working part-time in a fast-food restaurant to make ends meet.

    If you were wondering, the portal to Ente Island is apparently located between a normal office building and a Go Go Curry restaurant in the west of the Shinjuku Ward. 

    But without any money or knowledge of Japanese –while at the same time wearing ominous looking robes– Maou and Ashiya soon start to draw attention, and subsequently get taken into custody by the police, making their first stop in this world the Shinjuku Police Station.

    Luckily, Maou still has a bit of magic left to hypnotize the police officers, so they manage to escape and wander around Shinjuku’s entertainment district, passing by the Tokyu Milano Cinema here. 

    Maou soon realizes that the only way to survive and get back to Ente Isla, is to obey and play by human rules for the time being. He reaches that conclusion next to Shinjuku’s iconic Love sculpture, located right next to the unique traffic light circle, which already appeared in numerous anime, but probably most notably in the fantastic your name.

    So in order to to scrape by, he takes a part-time job at a local MgRonald. Most of the show’s brand name knock-offs are pretty great, and the show has a lot of them, like Moonbucks or Sentucky Fried Chicken. And now on to the question you’re probably wondering about the most: does the McDonald's where he works at also exist in real life? Well, not really. While the building where the McDonald's is supposed to be located does exist (it’s the brown building to the left), there is actually no fast-food restaurant in there anymore, but the place was housing a branch of the Japanese Mos Burger fast-food chain up until late 2014. The street is located just outside of Hatagaya Station, in the Shibuya Ward. 

    Maou and the hero Emilia Justina (or just Emi) have their first encounter in our world at this intersection near Sasazuka Station.

    While Maou and Ashiya live in the Sasazuka area, Emi lives in the neighborhood of Eifukucho Station.

    Matsutomo SYota is Matsumoto KiYoshi in real life.

    Right after our protagonists start to recover from the earthquake that hit the city, one of Maou’s former demon generals, Lucifer, appears and starts to wreak havoc in the area again. 

    He should probably get that checked. 

    The big showdown against Lucifer goes down near Sasazuka Station, and in the end there wasn’t much left of Shuto Expressway’s Route 4 in the anime.

    FamilyMart gets turned into FriendlyMart in the anime. While these fake brand names are hilarious, it’s interesting that the anime actually kept all of the correct train station names, which also often get changed in anime to avoid legal issues.

    Hello Parking does sound a bit like Arrow Parking.

    In the tenth episode, the girls head to the Toshimaen Amusment Park in the Nerima Ward, which includes a large water park that we also get to see in the anime.

    The show concludes at the same intersection near Sasazuka Station, where Emi and Maou first met in this world. However, this time they're on the other side of the road, and the hero is handing the devil an umbrella.  

  All in all, The Devil is a Part-Timer! is just a genuinely funny fish-out-of-water fantasy comedy. Seeing the devil himself trying to make it in our world by flipping burgers managed to put a smile on my face throughout the whole series.
