Yoichi Isagi

I think if he’s craving attention he’d probably be a bit hesitant because it's embarrassing for him to ask (since he likes a lot of attention so he’d be asking all day LOL). In order to save himself the embarrassment he’ll usually just hold your hand and give you a serious look– if he can muster that (sometimes if he’s feeling shy he’ll just put his hand on yours while looking away). Well when he does look at you he thinks he’s giving you a serious look but surely all you see is him giving you puppy eyes.

Meguru Bachira

Oh if he’s craving attention YOU WILL KNOW. He’d probably cling to you as if you were a missing part of his body he was trying to reconnect. He’ll hug your arm or pepper you in kisses and he’ll seem way happier than usual because he’s just so glad to be around you. He’s a bit ridonkulous he might even jump on you, making you both collapse to the floor, or if you’re in a place with a hard floor he’ll instead pull you towards him and squeeze you like a giant teddy bear.

Hyoma Chigiri

He’s a bit tricky honestly. He has a good amount of pride so he doesn’t like to seem too clingy but that doesn’t mean he’ll back down if he feels like he’s being neglected. If he wants attention he’ll try to make you the one who’s embarrassed and craving attention by flirting subtly though incessantly. He’ll wrap his arm around you and lightly ghost his thumb over your skin or even ‘innocently’ kiss your jawline and then just as quickly as he started, he’ll stop and go back to whatever he was doing before so you’re the one asking for attention from him now.

Rensuke Kunigami (PRE Wild Card)

Honestly? Upstanding young man ass dude he’ll probably just start giving you attention until you reciprocate. He’s stubborn too so you know he won’t stop until you give in unless you’re seriously not in the mood for whatever reason. He’ll sneak up behind you and hug you and start kissing up your neck; eventually turn your head so he can kiss you on the lips if you’re willing to indulge him. The kind of guy who’d just lay up in your arms and gently lay you down with him after a long day.

Rensuke Kunigami (POST WC)

Ok I know he SEEMS insanely different but tbh I don’t think he’d change all that much. He’s probably a little bit more socially awkward because for a while all he’s done is train with little social interaction. When he wants attention, I think he’d likely use the same tactic but in a different way. He’d probably nip your neck or shoulder (not painfully; he is trying to be playful) and when it gets your attention, he’d start to pepper you in kisses or lay his head down on your shoulder if it's been a long day.

Gin Gagamaru

I don’t have a great grasp on this guy (despite being one of my goats 🥹) but I think he’d probably have like mannerisms for it like pointing at where he wants to be kissed and kisses you back when you oblige him. He also seems like the kind of guy who’d bring you something from his journeys in the wilderness as like a homemade gift and hopes you’ll give him the attention he seeks in return (you can definitely tell because he just stares at you as you open the gift, hoping you like it and then continues to stare expectantly when you do like it)

Rin Itoshi

Imo if Rin decided to get into a relationship with someone he’d dedicate himself to them just as he does soccer because he wouldn’t want them to be hurt the way he was hurt (someone you love acting coldly towards you) but he doesn’t really know how without cringing. SO his way of asking for attention would be somewhat sweet although awkward. I think he would likely try to do some semi romantic gesture like laying his head on your shoulder/in your lap (although he’s pretty tense) or just making general contact like touching knees or brushing fingers together and will absolutely WHIP his head away if you look at him.

Nijiro Nanase

Nanase is just a guy; another upstanding young man. I think he would probably flatter you if he wanted attention. He’ll probably start talking about the things he likes about you and how much he loves you, giving you a kiss on the cheek along with his praise as well. He is very aware of the fact that you think he’s the cutest thing to hit planet Earth and he will use it to his advantage!! Of course, he means what he says but if saying it out loud will get him covered in kisses he’ll say as much as you want because he’s never gonna run out of things to say.

Sae Itoshi

This guy… Is a real piece of work but, like his brother, I think if he’s willing to get into a relationship then that means he's willing to put in the effort but doesn’t know how, although he respects you a ton. If he’s craving attention I don’t think he’ll even realize it; he’ll just get really irritated when you aren’t around and when you are around he’ll stare you down so hard he could burn a hole through you but the fact that he doesn’t even look angry is what tips you off to what he wants. The look in his eyes isn’t insanely soft but it's not a hard stare either, he looks like he's daydreaming or zoning out tbh.

Ryusei Shidou

If Sae is a piece of work this dude is a whole project. It’s easy to say he’s like Bachira, which he is during the day, but I think it’d be more interesting to talk about him during the night. When the day comes to an end he said he “becomes nothing” so I think it would be the number one time where he craves attention and validation that he exists and you’re really there. It’s a somewhat vulnerable time for him but he plays it off like he’s just his usual clingy self and probably places himself in front of you at any opportunity. Looking down? He’ll lay on your lap. Facing forward? Well here he is in front of you. And by the time it’s finally time for bed he's completely wrapped his body around yours.

Shoei Barou

It’s kind of hard to imagine how he’d show affection in a relationship buttt I think similar to Kunigami, I think he would just give you attention until you give in. However, I think Barou is probably a bit more aggressive about it and he’d probably go up to you and kiss you, then pull away just enough to await your next move. If you take too long to decide though he’ll start kissing around your face: on your nose, your forehead, etc. He’s pretty bold but he is a tiny bit embarrassed/hesitant when it comes to feeling ‘soft’ with you so he’ll kiss you to distract himself from it.

Shuto Sendou

This guy is peak loserboy activity whew he is a huge sucker for being spoiled so he wants attention OFTEN. I think he probably just stands really close to you and complains about how his day was soooooo horrible and how he worked so hard but if being standoffish isn’t working he holds onto your waist for dear life or plops himself on your lap and hugs you, waiting for attention when he gets desperate. If he’s super desperate he’ll start kissing around your neck and complain even more. He even starts to say how betrayed he feels at how easily you’re ignoring his woes.

Seishiro Nagi

He’s pretty efficient in the way he shows he wants attention. Since he’s the spoiled type he’ll usually try to get your attention the normal way first: acting cute and laying his head on your shoulder or on your lap while he plays his game (he is expecting you to play with his hair) but if you don’t he’ll honestly be confused at first because he’s usually given whatever he wants. At first he’ll try to put your hand on his head but if you keep taking it away he’ll make you lay down with him and literally try to immobilize you by putting all his weight on your body; will even pretend to be asleep if you protest.

Reo Mikage

He’s a lot bit codependent so if he’s feeling neglected he’ll do everything he can to get your attention. He’ll usually shower you in gifts and/or take you on a romantic date. He’ll plan out a whole ass day of pampering just because he wants some attention. Please remind him he doesn’t need to do. All that. Because he often feels a bit useless if he doesn’t have time to do that. Not only does he feel useless but he’s somehow convinced himself subconsciously that he doesn’t really deserve your attention if he hasn’t done anything for you.

Oliver Aiku

If he wants attention from you, he’ll give you an insane amount of attention. Unlike Kunigami and Barou, he’s very forward and will text you, showering you with sweet words while he’s on his way to yours and when he gets there, he’s practically already all over you. He’s going on about how much he loves you and how he missed you so much all while kissing you wherever he can reach you. Tbh if he's craving attention, he probably just wants to have sex since he’s not a very clingy guy so he's probably already backing you into a wall and trying to undress you.

Eita Otoya

Honestly his appeal to others is usually him being the “cold but caring” type so, like Aiku, he’d probably text you before getting to yours but it’d be even more bare bones like, “i miss you” or “can I see u” even if he DOES genuinely like you he doesn’t really think deeply about his feelings and impulsively texts you when he wants attention. Unlike Aiku, he is a clingy guy and if he’s really desperate for attention he’ll still escalate it to sex if he can; just slower. Probably wants to lay his face in your chest or lap and makeout.

Tabito Karasu

Oh this smartass. He’s probably similar to Hyoma in the fact that he makes sure it's you who wants his attention by pampering you one minute and acting like nothing happened the next. However he does tend to like smart people so if you’re smart enough to see through his hot-and-cold act he’ll eventually hold you and hide his face in your chest, admitting defeat but he’d still be smiling because either way he wins. He’s already got you and he won't let go until you fill the quota of kisses you owe him.

Kenyu Yukimiya

He’s the type to feel a bit embarrassed about wanting attention at first but will be more forward if you don’t pick up on his subtle hints. His hints include sneaking glances at you or holding your hand whenever he gets the opportunity. He’s honestly pretty charismatic so I think that when being more forward he would probably kiss your hand and help you with anything you may need to get done or finish anything he may need to do so that you can completely focus on each other when there’s nothing left.

Yo Hiori

Honestly craving attention is a somewhat rare occurrence for him so it's a bit embarrassing, especially since you two are used to kinda doing your own thing. Probably gives you little ‘hints’ like starting off by asking if you want to play a game with him as an excuse to get you close to him. Another hint would likely be him invading your bubble whether it be by scooting close to you or hooking his leg over yours a bit or whatever it may be. If you still aren’t getting it he probably says something that tips you off while looking directly at you or glancing at you like, “Do you mind me being clingy?” or something along those lines.

Ranze Kurona

He’s such a sweetie he probably braids your hair if it's long enough (if it’s short he’ll still try a root braid if you want but he’s not very good at it). If not he’ll usually get you both stickers to mess around with, putting some on your face, others on various items and sometimes you put them in random hidden places as a nice surprise when you find them again. Typically this is enough to get the attention he’s looking for, but if you’re teasing him or simply forgot, he’ll lightly nip your shoulder or lightly graze his teeth over your shoulder (Since you two got together you have definitely encouraged him to be comfortable with his teeth around you)

Zantetsu Tsurugi

This guy often tries to be something he’s not so he’d probably try to do a bunch of romantic gestures that aren’t his style. Knowing him he’d probably put together some poems. They aren’t very good but it IS very sweet and he’d keep doing this for a while until the poems start to sound the same and he starts to get frustrated. He’d try learning an instrument, impressing you with his knowledge on a subject you like etc. until eventually he would just force himself to suck it up and ask you for attention outright and just straight up admit how much you mean to him because all these other things are draining and they aren’t him.

Jingo Raichi

He’s another guy who finds it a bit embarrassing to be ‘soft’ so when craving attention he’ll often ‘starve’ himself of it. Usually you’re the one who has to give him attention but if you haven’t for whatever reason then he’ll be angrier than usual that day with his teammates. He’ll probably give up by the time he gets home and just crashes into you grumbling about how his day has been SO unsexy. Probably won’t let you go until he falls asleep tbh and even then he still has a pretty good grip on you.

Jyubei Aryu

When he wants attention Aryu would probably start flaunting his beauty, pushing his hair back, striking poses, modeling clothes for you, whatever stylish thing he can think of– he will do it and then glance over at you to make sure you were paying attention. If that doesn’t work then he’d have you do some stylish things like he might have you try on some clothes he bought you or ask you to style his hair because he is “lacking inspiration” (He actually just knows you like playing with his hair smh)

Jin Kiyora

This dude is a freak, it's a lot bit funny. When he wants attention he probably asks you to watch a movie with him (You’re already suspicious that he didn’t put on Fight Club for the umpteenth time or another action movie). He honestly put it on as background noise and thought it looked boring so he’d probably just tell you to lay down with him and lightly kiss you until you get the picture (Spoil him). Can and WILL turn the movie off and hide the remote if you neglect him smh (He will not enjoy the returned energy next time he wants to watch fight club so for both of your sakes just give him some kisses).

Michael Kaiser

Complicated individual, rightfully so. If he wants attention he’d simply demand it. Bye. He would likely just pull you towards him without any further commentary, he might even look a bit annoyed. If you didn’t know him you’d think he was in a bad mood and upset with you but you know how he gets. However, he’s more clear when it’s been a long day and he’s feeling a bit beat down or unsure of himself. He’d just shove his face into your back or your midsection and let you play with his hair as he conks theee fuck out.

Alexis Ness

Another complicated individual whew. What is up with these codependent purple dudes who found the worst possible person to depend on? Ness has yet to find a relationship where he is properly loved and not essentially abandoned so if he feels like you’re slipping away he’ll panic and do everything in his power to convince you to keep him around. He needs a lot of reassurance tbh and spends a lot of his time in your arms. When he’s craving attention he’ll usually just be sulking around all day like a sad wet cat. Every now and again he turns to look at you wistfully and walks past very slowly like that damn homeless ant. Show him some love he needs it now more than ever ayayayay.

Ford & Stan: bravery and heroism

This is going to be about Stan’s vs. Ford’s types of heroism/courage. More specifically old Stans. I want to focus on the period at which they’ve already matured and already gone through and survived the worst of their lives. Them at their bravest, you could say.

I’m going to start with something a tad (or very) controversial. Among my Gravity Falls merch, there’s my sticker album. This is how they describe Ford (translation below) 👇

“Differently from his twin brother, [Ford] is valiant, intelligent, and has six fingers.”

“Valiant” is basically a fancier way to say “brave,” so... yeah.

The friends I’ve showed this to were indignant on Stan’s behalf. My album was being unfair to him! And yes, I agree. If Stan wasn’t brave, he wouldn’t have faced Bill alone. And regarding his intelligence—Alex has commented before that all four Pines are quite intelligent, just in different ways. Mabel, for example, has much more emotional intelligence than Ford. But I digress. That isn’t the subject of this post.

The thing is: I wasn’t very surprised about Ford being considered more stereotypically intelligent than Stan. Ford is, after all, a recognized genius, of a very obvious sort. His nicknames go from “IQ” to “Brainiac.” But Ford being considered braver than Stan... where does that come from?

Certainly, old Stan has never behaved in a cowardly way in situations where Ford in his place would never, right?

Or perhaps... perhaps he has.

Meanwhile, Ford was doing a Ford-core speech about the true meaning of being a hero.

Was this an exception to the rule? Or the norm?

Looking at Stan’s and Ford’s expressions as Probabilitor the Annoying appears, probably the norm.

Or Stan’s behavior in these self-explanatory moments from the comics:

“But,” you might say, “Stan had so many brave moments too! Against the zombies, against Bill!”

Yeah! He sure did!

But what did all of those badass moments have in common?

Ah, yes! His family—mostly Mabel and Dipper—being in any kind of danger and/or needing his help.

In fact, what I found hilarious about the very first moment, with Waddles, is that he started off as a complete coward. The same kind of man who ran away screaming from the goat. Attempting to sacrifice poor Waddles while he hid beneath the mushroom, survival instincts kicking in. But if it truly concerns Mabel’s happiness? And, let’s be honest, Waddles’, because he does have a soft spot for the pig? Then he finds it in himself to face a dinosaur!

Waddles knows how he works, hahah.

Stanford Pines, meanwhile, is a different breed of dog.

When in danger, his first impulse doesn’t seem to be fear, but pure, unbridled rage.

That’s pretty much his default mode. Ford has a classic, very obvious type of bravery that is easily identifiable as such. I could keep giving you guys examples, but if you’ve watched GF or read Journal 3 at all, I won’t need to. I think it’s self-explanatory given that this guy wanted Dipper to suppress his fear by focusing on his intellect:

To him, emotions are a weakness. They hinder his clear thinking. They need to be suppressed.

I also find it fascinating that he canonically endured insane levels of torture at Bill’s hands. He was emotionally, psychologically, and physically abused—Bill manipulated and deceived him, haunted his dreams, controlled his body like a puppet, threatened to commit suicide with it, hurt it all over to the point of giving it bruises, used it to ruin his reputation with the townsfolk, tattooed it without his consent, made his eye bleed, drove a nail through his hand, made him eat live spiders, pulled his bones out of their sockets, threatened to erase his memories, messed with the meaning of words in his brain, hunted him down, humiliated and mocked him publicly, turned him into a golden statue, electrocuted him—overall violated his consent and bodily/mental autonomy in horrific levels and subjected him to excruciating pain. And yet, every time he faces Bill, he faces him with impressive courage, always confrontational, always resolutely angry. He never wavers in that anger, not even for a second.

Ford’s biggest moment of fear as a lone hero, even if brief, was when Bill threatened him with, “I’ll make you talk! It’s only a matter of time,” before beginning the very torture pictured above.

That’s still him being courageous, of course. Courage is not the absence of fear, but doing the brave thing despite the fear, and we watch him resisting Bill’s torture resolutely after that.

Remember, though, how I said Ford conducts himself as if emotions are a weakness? Despite all of Ford’s bravery and resistance, Bill is right when he tells Ford, in that very scene, “Everyone has a weakness, tough guy!” Because what finally, finally breaks Ford is to see his family—the most important people in his life—in danger.

It’s the same old weakness Bill used against him in TBoB, calling Stan’s number to threaten suicide in Ford’s voice—the one thing that made Ford say, “But then [Bill] crossed a line” and “No. [Bill] wouldn’t,” in despair, even after all the terrible things Bill had done to him.

In this sense, Stan and Ford are perhaps opposites of each other. Look at how, even though Ford looks defeated here, Stan’s expression hardens in the second gif—with determination.

Look, too, at how Ford looks away, how his hands shake when he has to erase Stan’s memories, the sacrifice that Stan is making so stoically, due to his feelings for Stan:

Why do I say Stan is making the sacrifice so stoically? Why does he acquire this look of determination as Ford is hopelessly planning to give himself up to Bill? Well, Alex seemed to imply in the commentary of Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls something I already believed to be true: that it was Stan who offered himself up/volunteered as the one to have his memories sacrificed to save all their asses, not Ford who suggested it to him. (“And even though it’s Stan who agrees to—‘I’ll be the one! Erase my mind! It’s fine. It’s worth it.’—like, it’s a sacrifice for both, like, Ford at this point is willing to get his brother back and has to lose him again.”) Stan shines when his family is in danger!

Meanwhile, when does Ford’s brand of bravery shine the most? I think it’s telling that, despite the jokes about Ford being a damsel in distress, you still have a man who survived thirty years completely alone in the multiverse while having a bounty of an entire galaxy on his head. In a way, I think Ford is way more in his element, so to speak, when he’s his own company, he’s the only one in danger, and he just has to take care of himself. He’s the lone hero, after all.

Even with Dipper, before whom he peacocks by showing his more cavalier side, sometimes to the point of recklessness (according to Alex and Rob Renzetti in the DD&D commentary, Ford would never act that irresponsibly around Stan), he seems to get hindered by his responsibility to care for his nephew, as it was shown in Dipper and Mabel vs. The Future with their fight against alien technology. The robots wouldn’t even have been activated, after all, if not for Dipper’s adrenaline levels.

Stan, on the other hand, is at his core a family man. He will make himself brave even in occasions he wouldn’t normally be, for his family! All for his family!

In the commentary of Not What He Seems, Alex and Matt Chapman point out the badass side of Stan:

Alex Hirsch: When I saw the storyboards, they managed to make Stan this awesome action hero while still keeping him Stan. [...] He steals a wallet, he smashes somebody against the wall, he sasses him but he also has this just great Inception moment, and it’s because we’re building to a big question about “who is Stan?,” I felt a moment of seeing him be kind of awesome further increases your “who is this guy?,” right? He keeps going back and forth between like “oh geez my back” and you’re like “all right that’s the Stan I know” and then like “whoa, he just did an awesome jailbreak! Is he some kind of super villain? Who is he really?”

Matt Chapman: And in Scary-oke early on too, you know, you get to see Stan—the street-fighter in Stan come out too.

Alex Hirsch: There’s more of Ford in Stan than I think Stan realizes. I think it only comes out in certain moments.

Stan’s badass moment in NWHS was, too, in service of his family, particularly one member: Ford. Stan needed to escape the agents, to ensure that the portal was fully activated and successfully brought Ford back. He needed to be there for Ford. The “Ford in Stan” that Alex mentions does come out when Ford himself was in (perceived) need of Stan.

If Ford’s bravery (or at least his suppression of fear) comes from focusing on his intellect, as he advised Dipper, Stan’s bravery comes from the opposite thing: focusing on his emotions, on his feelings for his family. Ford might be right about emotions being a weakness, but they are his weakness. They are Stan’s strength, in the same way their loved ones are Stan’s strength and Ford’s weakness.

At the end of the show, Ford learns that Stan has been so terribly brave and noble and saved the world for the sake of those feelings. That is part of the weight that Ford’s “You’re our hero, Stanley” carries.

Hopefully, by the end of it all, Ford has come to a place where, despite not regretting his previous mindset, he sees both emotions and people as a valid source of strength!

You didn’t go grocery shopping. Ever. That was Seonghwa and Wooyoung’s job and yet here you stood in the kitchen, squinting at the crumpled piece of notebook paper in your hand like it had personally offended you.

This was not a grocery list.

This was a crime.

“Who,” you said, holding it up like a scroll of ancient nonsense, “wrote this?”

The boys froze like they'd just been caught mid-heist. Wooyoung slowly raised his hand. “I compiled it. But everyone contributed!”

“Okay,” you said, pinching the bridge of your nose. “Let’s review.”

You cleared your throat and began reading aloud:

Milk (cow?? almond?? idk just something white)

Eggs (Seonghwa said organic or he’ll cry)

Spicy chips but not the ones that hurt San

Toilet paper (the nice kind, not sandpaper)

Ice cream (flavor: yes)

Bananas (for science???)

One (1) suspicious cucumber

Jongho’s protein powder, but the one that smells like despair, not the one that makes him burp lavender

San’s gummy bears, the exact same bag as last time or he’ll know

“Do not come back without cheese” – Hongjoong

You blinked. “What the hell does ‘flavor: yes’ even mean?”

“That means any flavor you love!” Yunho said helpfully.

You sighed, grabbed your keys, and muttered, “You’re all lucky you’re hot,” before heading out.

You arrived at the grocery store with the energy of a war general entering enemy territory. You stared down at the list again, muttering, “Suspicious cucumber. Suspicious. What does that even mean?”

You made your way to the dairy and egg section

Cow? Almond? Goat? Oat?

You grabbed one of each and stared at the cart already groaning under your indecision.

A woman passed by and said kindly, “Better to have options than regrets, dear.”

You blinked. “I love you.”

Down the aisle were the many varieties of eggs and cheeses

You picked up a standard dozen but immediately imagined Seonghwa’s offended gasp if it didn’t say organic in font size 72. You found an organic carton.

Then a free range organic.

Then a locally sourced free range organic.

You grabbed all three and whispered, “He better eat every last one of these too”

The Cheese.

You found a $35 aged cheddar wheel that felt like the “do not come back without cheese” threat in cheese form.

Taking your cart full of milk, cheese and eggs, you make you way over to the chip aisle. The wall of red and orange danger intimidated you.

You texted the group chat:

“San. What’s the one that doesn’t hurt you?”

San replied immediately with a picture of a bag. Not a name. Just a blurry photo of his hand holding it. In 2019. You swore you could see a pumpkin in the background.

You zoomed in, squinted, gave up, and grabbed five vaguely similar-looking bags.

You made your way to fresh produce section to find a "suspicious" cucumber and spent 10 minutes fondling the green vegetable like a sommelier sniffing wine.

A kid stared at you. You said, “This is what love looks like.”

He nodded solemnly and said, “Good luck.”

Also in the produce section were the bananas.

You picked out a bunch and then saw the note again. For science.

You threw in a second bunch just to be safe.

"Let's see what's next... ah yes. Jongho's protein powder"

The aisle smelled like muscle tears and insecurity.

You found the one Jongho likes, gray, bulky, and ominous.

Probably the easiest thing on the list.

You made your way to candy aisle, ready to be done.

You stared at the wall of colorful bags and thought, This is it. This is where I die.

You tried to recall the exact brand, flavor, and texture San liked. You couldn't. So you grabbed three options and prayed for forgiveness.

You let out a frustrated sigh as you move to the frozen section for the flavor "yes" ice cream that was less a grocery item and more a philosophical riddle.

You stood in the frozen aisle whispering, “Hm. Okay. Okay. Flavor yes....” like it would summon a sign from above.

You got vanilla bean because you like it. Mint chip because Mingi likes it. Strawberry because someone mentioned it once. And something labeled “Mystery Swirl” because at this point, you were unraveling.

You bought it.

You bought it all.

Two carts later, a sweaty forehead, and a cashier who looked visibly concerned for your sanity, you finally made it home.

And the house was empty.

Dead silent.

You blinked, dragging your bags up the steps like a weary soldier.

“Guys?” you called.

No answer.

You opened the fridge to unload the groceries and stopped dead in your tracks.

Inside were eggs. The right eggs. The milk. The fucking cheese... The suspicious cucumber, your suspicious cucumber, already in a vase like a floral centerpiece.

Your eye twitched.

You checked the pantry. Everything was already there.

They’d gone shopping.

While you were out.

In the same store.

In pieces, like some kind of Boyband Grocery Avengers.

And they hadn’t called. Not once. Not a single call or text to relieve you of your scavenger hunt.

Your phone buzzed.

Group chat:

Wooyoung: babe we went to the store bc we thought you were taking too long 🥺 Mingi: i got the chips!! did u find any?? lol Hongjoong: please don’t be mad we got the cheese San: love you 😇 Yunho: Seonghwa said it would be best we weren't there when you arrived....

You stared at your bags

Then stared at the fridge, so full of perfectly chosen groceries you could scream.

You replied with one photo: your receipt. Total: $287.49

It was silent while the 9 of you sat around the dinner table, they could feel your rage before they even walked through the door.

They watched as you angrily shoved a piece of chicken in your mouth, glaring at your plate

Yeosang hesitantly opened his mouth and the rest of the boys froze in fear.

RANKING THE VEILGUARD COMPANIONS AS SPICY PARTNERS

This is definitively correct and I will not be accepting feedback.

In seventh and last place, we have our sweet boy Lucanis.

He's so into you. Spite is at least the same amount of into you. Lucanis though, is wildly inexperienced. Dude blacked out seeing Rook of any gender without a top on. A single titty would put this man in the hospital.

As a person who has slept with a lot of people, enthusiasm does not always compensate for skill. Lucanis would be very sweet, and apologizing because this has literally never happened to him before.

In sixth, we have Bellara.

Bellara is wonderful! But, similar to Lucanis, she's pretty inexperienced, and not in a position to acquire more experience without Rook’s involvement. She did date Irelin, but Irelin also doesn't give "exciting spicy partner" vibes. I feel like she would be enthusiastic about figuring out what you both like! It would just take some time to get there. She would also be very open to using magical aids. Electrical magic? Hell yeah.

She's also absolutely a bottom and if that's a consideration for you, she would be very good at it.

In fifth, we have Harding.

Harding is one long conversation away from being down for some Actual Freak Shit. She's already down, she just doesn't know what to ask for.

HOWEVER. Harding has precisely zero game, so it may feel a little silly while y'all figure your stuff out.

It will be good, it will also be clumsy and sweet.

In fourth, Taash.

Taash is similar to Harding, but has more sexual experience. They are also a confirmed top. Those are rare! They are coded to feel like they're in their early twenties, and extremely athletic, so stamina would not at any point be an issue. I've seen some comments that their bluntness would be bad for dirty talk/having game - those people didn't have to take a minute to do some deep breathing after the Taamlok scene, and also do not have taste. Taash will break you in half in a good way. Taash is a capital T Top and honestly, I respect it.

In third, Davrin.

Davrin, in a different group, would be the top pick. He's cocky, confident, has game for days. He's not a snack, he's a meal, and he is very aware of that. In my experience, banging Extremely Hot Dudes can go one of two ways; it's either sex you will wake up thinking about ten years later, or it will be like, extremely mid. I have faith in his ability. He is also a top, but I feel like he would also be into another top so there's a Fight (America's Next Top Model theme plays).

Thrill of the chase, indeed.

In second, Emmrich.

I know Emmrich is a canonical sex god. I know a bunch of y'all are extremely horny for Dr. Hose Goat. He caught me on the back foot a couple of times.

In first, it's the internet's wife, Neve Gallus.

Stanley picks up strays, but never for long.

It's not intentional, of course. He doesn't want nor need an extra mouth to feed or another living thing to have to care about. His mistakes back in Glass Shard proved he's bad at caring about/for other people.

But, a week or two after getting kicked out, sleeping in his car in a beach-side parking lot, he leaves his windows cracked to get some airflow. And when he wakes up the next morning, there's a little gray cat curled up in his passenger seat. It's collarless and scruffy in the way homeless things are (he would know, he's starting to take on the look), and he just doesn't have the heart to throw it out.

Somewhere in the Midwest the cat, significantly plumper and shinier than when it first joined him, leaves. He tries not to let it break his heart: these kinds of relationships are transactional. The cat got food and he got... a taste of companionship. Before the day is over, while on the side of the road for a piss break, he finds a puppy. A little thing, scruffy and probably flea covered and whiny and--- of course he takes it with him.

He's on the US-Canada border when the pup, now clean and fed, starts to play with a girl at the park. He sees the joy in her eyes and the nice car her parents drive and knows the dog will have a better life than with him; he leaves it behind.

And so the cycle continues: somewhere in the dark corners or wet ditches or back alleys of the country he finds a poor cat or dog or bird or once, notably, a rabbit; he nurses them back to health and gives them half of his food and eventually, out of necessity, out of care, lets them go.

When he pushes his brother into the portal and now has to bring him back, Stan promises himself no more strays. Every bit of his altruism is going towards rebuilding this portal. The goat in his front yard? He stole it from a neglectful farmer for fun, no other reason. The cats and raccoons that always find food and water on the porch? They're just lucky he dropped a bowl and was too lazy to pick it up. The injured griffin who woke back up in its cave with a wrapped leg? Stan doesn't believe in that nonsense, obviously it wasn't him.

He most definitely does not take in strays--- and then his niece calls him, says she and her husband are having an... issue, and can't he (he as in Stanford, of course) please take their kids, just for the summer, to get them away from the mess of the family. He doesn't take in strays, but they aren't strays, they're family. And Mabel does just the same thing he does, and that's why he can't, in the end, say no to Waddles.

Ford obviously doesn't believe in the same, seeing as he effectively tells Stan to get the hell out. Ford never took in strays--- too smart, too much self-control.

Indeed, Ford never took in strays. As his brother regains his memories, however, he starts to tell Ford about the strays he took in while on the streets. And as Ford is listening to Stan, all he can see is the resemblance between all those scruffy animals Stan helped and his poor brother.

They set sail on the Stan o' War II, and a week in, they find a pelican with a hobbled wing. No strays, Ford says. No strays, Stan agrees.

They keep the pelican.

You were looking out the window, out at the vast amount of farmland you and your husband, Boothill, had decided to buy when he brought home the little girl you’re now able to call your daughter.

It was a nice, big place, suitable for animals of all kinds, and very family-friendly. You were currently watching your daughter play around with a baby goat that her father decided to bring out, a smile on all three of your faces. 

She seemed so happy, waddling around the goat, clapping her chubby little hands when the goat gave a soft little lick to her cheek. She had just learned how to walk, and had been able to say a few words for the past few months now. 

You walked out the back door, waving at Boothill before he waved his hand as a gesture to have you over by them. While you were walking over, you could hear your daughter shout “Goat! Goat! Cute goat!” While bobbing up and down with her legs and clapping her hands. It made you laugh a little bit before leaning into your husband's side. He wraps an arm around your shoulders, rubbing your arm up and down while supervising your daughter. 

“Dada!” She squealed, giggling. Boothill ruffled her hair before leaning down to give her a kiss on her forehead, making her giggle even more. “Dada and mama!”

You smiled wider than you thought you ever could have. You were so blessed to have Boothill as a husband, and such a special, precious girl as a daughter. 

“Well, we can’t really bring a goat in th’ house, n’ she seems to enjoy playin’ around with it a bunch…” Boothill said, standing next to you with his arms crossed. “What if we got a dog?”

“Really? A dog?” You looked up at him, and he nodded. “We have horses, goats, sheep, cows, and probably some reptiles living in the bushes. Do we really need more?”

He hummed. “The thing is, dogs can be domestic, hun. I got lucky this lil’ goat is so docile, good enough for her to be able to hang ‘round it without me having to worry ‘bout it taking her face off.”

“True. But we’d need a dog that can handle farmlife, not just any old dog. A boujee dog would not do very well in this type of setting. Keep that in mind.”

Your daughter came up to the both of you, lightly slapping at your legs to get your attention. You picked her up, giving Boothill a signal to go put the goat back in its respective area before meeting the two of you back inside.

A few moments later, when Boothill arrived back inside, you had lunch started, greeting him before he washed his hands and helping your daughter wash hers, too. He explained to her that she’s always to wash her hands before and after touching an ‘outside animal’ (as he calls it, so her itty bitty brain can comprehend it) otherwise she could get sick. He does the same, too. 

You set the table for lunch, putting some leftover salad and chicken on you and Boothills plates from last night. You gave your daughter some chicken too, but cut into very small squares, and strawberries instead of salad. 

The three of you sat down to eat, occasionally conversing about random things. She was too busy picking at her strawberries to notice your conversation, but you both still kept a close eye on her. 

“About the dog idea, are you sure?” You asked, your voice laced with some uncertainty. ‘I feel like we already have so much on our plate. Are you really willing to walk it every morning?”

“Well, o’course I am. I know what havin’ a dog is like, my dads always had one. I grew up around ‘em.” He takes another forkful of salad before going on. “But why’re ya so concerned? What else is stoppin’ ya from sayin’ yes?”

You smiled before laughing to yourself, leaving him temporarily confused. 

“Well, I want to hold off on the dog, because…

Firstly, I want to touch on a really good point made by this ask here that Fiyero is not in the scene where Elphaba gets her letter to the Wizard. I believe, from a character point of view, that it was purely by chance that Fiyero wasn’t there for this scene (as in, it wasn’t as a result of him avoiding her). However, I do think, from a narrative point of view, this gives a greater weighting to the scene at the train station, as this will be the first time we see Fiyero’s reaction to the news, it also makes it more likely that Fiyero heard the news from someone other than Elphaba (Galinda probably) so hasn’t really had a chance to congratulate her himself, as well as emphasising the distance that’s grown between them.

I also want to go into this scene in the screenplay deleted from the movie:

It appears that Elphaba is not being as subtle as she thinks she is. And, at least a third party can see that Elphaba has feeling for Fiyero. The fact that not too much time seems to have passed since the Lion Cub scene, and Fiyero and Elphaba haven’t been around each other much, begs the question “was Elphaba having subconscious feelings for Fiyero before this point that were also obvious enough for Boq to notice?”. It also leaves the possibility open for Galinda to have noticed something, which may play into her actions in this scene.

In terms of the scene we see in the movie, the first thing to note is that the script is very similar to the musical, not much is changed (though obviously Jonathan has made his own acting choices). So really where it is not highlighted assume it’s the same.

“How will we manage without you?”

“You won’t even notice I’m gone. You have Fiyero...”

Honestly, I find this line a bit sad. This idea that even now Elphaba doesn’t really value herself as much as others. However, I do also think it links back to I’m Not That Girl a sort of “well she has everything, why would she care?” mindset.

“speaking of Fiyero... where is he... not that I expected him to come and say goodbye... I mean... we barely know each other.”

I feel this is relatively obvious, Elphaba is fond of Fiyero – both as a friend and potential love interest, and she wants to see him and see that he cares. However, she also is still awkward and guilty about the fact that she does like Galinda’s boyfriend, and is embarrassed that she wants him to care. It is interesting that we so rarely see Elphaba flustered like this, unable to get her words out (something we will see mirrored with Fiyero later).

It’s also a stark contrast from the way she treated Fiyero when they first met.

“I barely know him anymore either, he’s been different, he’s distant and moodified, and he’s been thinking, which really worries me. It all started the day Doctor Dillamond was fired,”

Galinda likes Fiyero for his mask. She’s wanted him from before she even met him – which must have been defined by his title and gossip magazines, so now that the mask has dropped she’s struggling with the relationship.

On the other hand, Elphaba who disliked Fiyero’s fake persona, is being told that this all is dropping. That the Fiyero that she saw a glimpse of the day with the Lion Cub is still there, and he’s been affected too.

Note the use of the term Thinking in contrast to Fiyero’s general persona of Brainless.

“I mean, who knew he cared so much about that old Goat?”

This says a lot about the difference between Galinda and Fiyero. Even now, knowing how much Elphaba cared about Doctor Dillamond, Galinda doesn’t even see the need to be sensitive about him here (and not she even refers to Doctor Dillamond as “fired” not the more accurate “taken away”). Fiyero, on the other hand, went and saved an Animal without question.

“Elphie look, he did come. Dearest! We’re over here Darling! Come! Hi!”

[Fiyero isn’t looking at Galinda, all attention paid to Elphaba]

Fiyero comes into this scene with a mission, he has something to say to Elphaba and he’s very focused on doing so, even at the expense of Galinda.

“Elphaba.”

“Fiyero.”

“I’m happy for you.”

“Thank you.”

This is so awkward, between both of them. Neither are particularly people who get lost for words (though we do see Fiyero periodically struggling to speak when talking to Elphaba), but neither really know what to say here, so they are leaning on formalities. Fiyero, it will become clear later, has some sort of script – he’s planned exactly what he wants to say to Elphaba, but note how Elphaba is simply making the easiest reply she can because she doesn’t know how to react (something new for the movie but works very well).

“Yes, we are both so happy-”

[Fiyero interrupts Galinda suddenly]

Fiyero has lost a lot of his natural smoothness here, he’s on a script, he needs to say this and so he’s interrupting anything that doesn’t go as planned.

“I’ve been thinking...”

[Elphaba, amused] “Yeah, I heard,”

This is the first time Elphaba has got a little more comfortable. She’s pleased that Fiyero has confirmed what Galinda said, that what happened to them with the Lion Cub impacted him too. So her response is more relaxed and a little teasing.

“About the, uh, Lion Cub and... Doctor Dillamond... I think about that day a lot...”

It’s interesting here, because a lot of Fiyeros in the stage show are really taken aback by Elphaba’s comment of “yeah, I heard,” but Jonathan’s Fiyero is desperate to get his words out that he hardly hears. This line can be portrayed in a lot of different ways and it’s a deliberate choice by Jonathan to imply that Fiyero has been thinking over exactly what to say to Elphaba here for days.

His words here are awkward, almost robotic, so far from the easy charm he normally comes out with – but also not the kind of dumb stunned stuff he normally says when faced with Elphaba surprising him. He’s thought about these words, he wants to get them out to her and get his meaning.

 “So do I.”

[They continue to stare meaningfully and a bit awkwardly at each other.]

Elphaba’s words are kind and warm. She means them, and there’s much more she wants to say but can’t because of Galinda.

[Galinda looks between them] “Oh, me too, me too, me too, mhmm. I think about it constantly, I mean poor Doctor Dillamond. It makes one want to... take a stand. In fact...” [scene continues with Galinda announcing she’s changing her name.]

Glinda is realising that Elphaba and Fiyero are having a conversation that she isn’t part of. Whether this any degree of her working out they’re having feelings for each other, or simply a way to get Fiyero’s attention back to her I’m not sure, but she immediately tries to do something to get the attention back.

“Your name?”

“Yes.” [hair toss]

“Are you sure?

“Yes.” [hair toss]

[Elphaba and Fiyero look at each other puzzled after the announcement]

Note the distance Fiyero and Elphaba have from the other students supporting Glinda. They’re not cheering, they don’t see the point of this gesture. Glinda’s idea of standing up for Animal rights is far different from Elphaba and Fiyero risking the trouble they’ll get into to save the Cub. Instead, hers is self aggrandising and ultimately meaningless – done with ulterior motives and no real desire for change. It foreshadows a lot of the conflict between Glinda and Elphaba and Fiyero in the second act, Galinda would rather “lift spirits”, make people happy and get their admiration while Fiyero and Elphaba want to do something that makes a difference.

It’s also interesting that the tune of “I couldn’t be happier” plays in the background of this scene – it’s highlighting the separation Glinda is starting to have between her morals and the morals of Fiyero and Elphaba and the general lies the populace are going to follow.

I think there’s more significance to Fiyero giving Elphaba the poppy here than there is in the stage show (though the stage show sets the Lion Cub scene in a field of poppies so the meaningfulness is not insignificant there either), because Elphaba used a poppy spell on the students. By giving her a poppy he’s not only saying that he doesn’t blame her for her burst of magic (something her father and sister have been doing for years) but is turning it into a positive memory. The music brings back the moment of connection they had in the Lion Cub scene too – still tentative, still unspoken, but they know something is there.

“Good luck,” [Fiyero briefly glances at Glinda and then leaves]

I think there’s a lot more that’s left unsaid here, and a lot more that he wants to say with Glinda not around, but neither of them realise it’s going to be the last time they meet each other for years. So he’s spent this time telling her that what happened meant something to him, doesn’t want to do anything dramatic to spoil her big day, and there’s a promise of more discussions when she gets back (which of course she never does L )

And, just so I have completed all the Fiyero scenes, the final time we see my boy in the film is when Morrible makes the announcement that Elphaba is a Wicked Witch. We see him immediately realise what has happened and get on his Horse, (presumably) to go out and find her. He has dropped his “nothing matters but knowing nothing matters” persona completely because he cares for Elphaba and wants to help. Elphaba, and her passion, inspires this smart and good man to go out and fight for what is right rather than trying to ignore what he sees as wrong to quell the pain.

There's also something wonderfully full circle about the first scene of Fiyero being him knocking Elphaba down with his Horse, and his last scene being him and his Horse going off to find and help her.

Of course, he has to deliberately put his mask back on in film 2. But we’re going to have to wait until November for me to analyse that.

In the meantime I want to write some predictions for film 2 and possibly an analysis on the deleted scenes when they come out and Fiyero’s other songs in earlier versions of the musical, so watch this space!

As a Christian myself, I'll say the symbolism is...rather muddled, and I'd really like more confirmation on what is supposed to be alluding to what before drawing any conclusions. I feel like people see something like "ring of thorns" and go "JESUS ALLEGORY!" without really like...thinking through what actually is all involved with that!

Also, the holes in the hands thing could very well also reference the Mystery Man/Gaster, and if anything he's associated with Demonic imagery, not Christlike.

(Also also, the Holiday House is notably secular Christian imagery, not religious. No sign of a nativity scene in that house. But that's probably getting into some way more complicated issues around the fact that the monster religion, while borrowing a lot from various Protestant and Catholic icons, is not Christianity.)

Ahhh everything involving the piano was SO heartfelt and heartwrenching. You can see in my playthrough I stopped long enough to hear Kris go play the piano during the Holiday House scene, and was just like "AWWWWWUUUHHH!"

Yeah, I am hoping that I can beat it, just gotta practice a whole lot! Mostly I'm nervous about those battles when it comes to streaming the chapters with friends; I don't want to get stuck on those for long periods of time. ;o; Either way, do need to practice...

It definitely seems like Kris, Carol and the Knight have some kind of deal going on, but it's at the very lease a reluctant/obligatory deal on Kris's part. They'll do what's asked of them by those two, and won't fight the Knight if given the opportunity.

But, at the same time, during the Knight fight if both Susie and Ralsei are down, Kris's damage output goes way up. They're willing to go along with what's expected of them up until their friends get hurt.

I honestly think they're already on course to do so, even if they don't realize it yet.

I don't even think we know who it is she lives with yet! It could be one parent, it could be both, it could be a different family member or adoptive guardian. I do think whoever it is, they aren't a good parental figure at all, considering Susie is avoiding home whenever possible and clearly not being fed properly.

I don't know that I can confidently say yet what the missing part of the prophecy is! It honestly feels like it could be the death or sacrifice or any one of the heroes, or of Noelle, or something else equally important.

To be fair, that is coming from a little kid, and they might just not understand how things work!

I've been looking at all the evidence I can regarding blood for a theory video, and mostly what I've realized is that a lot of what we hear conflicts with each other and comes from unreliable sources. While I personally think it does shake out to Susie being half-human (and hopefully can argue that well enough), I think it might be too difficult right now to definitively prove whether or not all monsters bleed or don't bleed in DR.

While it would have been pretty neat, I can understand why it didn't happen. There's still a chance for it in later chapters!

Yeah, I think everyone was kind of designing towards the Knight as a person, so seeing it as this unnerving creature was both unexpected and really, really fun!

Yeah, all of the main characters have their good points and their bad points. Honestly, Toriel being a wine mom and getting a bit tipsy while jitterbugging with Sans on her own time isn't even what I'd call being a 'bad parent'...but at the same time, it's clear this had an effect on Susie and made her really uncomfortable. I don't think it's something Toriel would have known about. I dunno, I think she's much more interesting if she's not perfect goat mom who does everything right!

lorne's entire purpose is to raise and kill her goats for lumon's benefit and when she sees helena eagan (who she doesn't know is an eagan but nonetheless) her immediate question is "are you here to kill me?" Not "us" or her goats, as the other nurturer assumed when he saw mark and helly.

lorne is perhaps aware that her complicity in this system will eventually be the death of her; she will get to a point where she cannot take it anymore (it seems like she had to be pretty close to this breaking point as she takes the first opportunity she gets to fight back with Mark's accidental interruption of the ritual).

helena is at a similar point in many ways. she has been complicit in this system, just as born into it as innie lorne was. even though she is an eagan, she has been on the brink of being replaced for most of her life, as jame has been trying to beget a new heir for a while. now, it's very likely she will be replaced, she will effectively die in the same way irving b and burt g and every other retired innie did.

her resistance is new, sparked by helly and other innies' actions (just as lorne's was possibly sparked by mark's speech) even if they were not meant to inspire her. her asking to make her own choice about her body is a development. she's not tried to say "no" for a very long time. i can't imagine she thinks it will work, but she tries anyway.

we have no idea what her motivations were post-hanging season one; now she openly resents having been made to return, but then? it's not even clear if jame visited her at all in the hospital and she was back as soon as humanly possible.

it even appears helena's job in the company is kind of similar to lorne's. she almost lures cobel into a trap, she sends mr. goodman after mr. bailiff, she appears to be in the same "division" as natalie and drummond who all seem to be responsible for dealing with external problems (as milchick points out, what mark scout does when he is not at work is drummond's fault, not his. natalie cleans up pr disasters. helena gets rid of people). she is a figurehead and role model for the workers of lumon and the people of kier, but she also is their executioner when needed.

lorne is instrumental to mark not being murdered by drummond indicentally, it is probable that helena was instrumental to gemma actually being able to escape (unlocked stairwell door! unguarded stairwell door! that she knew they were going to use!) just as emile lives due to lorne's rebellion, so does gemma due to Helena’s.

If sunny is a service dog then what was merry? Was she also a dog or some sort of service goat or regular goat gifted to ussop that he so happened to train to help luffy same situation with franky??

HELP THATS AMAZINF ??!1????1? it’s going up on my wall

i’d been debating on whether or not to make merry a goat or a dog ! goats are so cute !! but as of right now merry is a old barbet that belonged to usopp’s mom before him, retired from service dog duties. my thought process was like, the ships help their crew right ? translating that into the modern world, with the disabilities i think some of them would have, i could make them service animals. also i love ur idea that is so good WAGH

the need for mobility aids depends on the severity 🤔 i imagine luffy’s symptoms are sporadic, his pots symptoms even more so. some days he can move much more and better than others. i think he could wear braces/compression garments to provide stability and less injury. ring splints he may use just because of how much he likes to use his hands while forgetting that sometimes it can hurt (plus they also help with stability in general). helps that he thinks they look cool ! 🙂‍↕️

symptoms fluctuate, so mobility aids aren’t always needed, but it’s possible luffy could have one 🤔 it also helps that he loves to go out, it keeps his muscles strong, he just often has to be reminded not to overdo it. a wheelchair could possibly be used for worse days, when he’s feeling more fatigued or pained ? like situationally. still not positive on that one yet, i’ll have to look into it more 🙂‍↔️

but luffy would definitely have his friends push him faster than they should probably be going on a wheelchair LMFAO
