Like I get why everyone portrays Bill as a theatrical conman and pathetic but like. He's also canonically incredibly intelligent at least in mathematics and physics (also like, history and all the knowledge he knows???). He helps Ford with the portal schematics and is shown to correct Ford's equations when he's working with Ford. hi i'm mihai and i'm going to need some help coveting rent this month. most of my recent paycheck went towards paying bills, groceries, and putting gas in my car and the rest of it is going towards an oil change i can no longer put off. on top of that, due to my coworker not doing his job, my hours (as well as his) are going to be cut for the next few weeks. i'm hoping to be able to find a second job in the meantime but right now i need some help making sure i'm able to pay rent this month!

Joe taking Ming's deal is the most relatable moment I've had with Joe because I, too, would pick the devil I already know. Mixing finances with friends is always dicey, and he would still owe them. With Ming, it's business and he doesn't have to worry about ruining a friendship. He can hate Ming, but as long as Ming runs him his money, he'll continue to do his job because this is just another stand-in job.
