Animaniacs- New Years
Daniel Mouse, one of the spliced genesis mice of Acme Labs, was extremely embarrassed after a long night of mishaps with his girlfriend, Dot Warner. It was New Year's and the year started off with obviously overwhelming noises and large crowds leading to the first meltdown of 2023. As soon as they made it to the Warner tower, Daniel took no hesitation into jumping onto the foot rest of the couch and collapsed into a pillow, bawling his eyes out.
"Uh… Rough start, huh," said The Brain, the smartest of the five mice and one of Daniel’s best friends. "How about some water for you? You look like an ice cream cone."
Daniel sniffled pathetically, but nodded in agreement when The Brain handed him a glass of cool water before he curled up once more under the blanket of the sofa cushions.
"No one can blame you Daniel," said Pinky, the dimwit mouse of the group and the other of Daniel's best friends, "That clock, cheering, and fireworks made my ears pop like popcorn. Narf!"
"The clock is just a machine that makes noise. I don't care for it," mumbled Daniel, burrowing further into the cushions to hide his tears. His fur was still wet, which meant he had just been sweating for several hours and had yet to even take a shower. He felt gross. He then looks over to his two sisters, goth Raven and colorful SugarBaby baking cupcakes with Dot. Just seeing her face made Daniel calm down a bit.
"So, feel like talking to her Romeo?" Pinky teased as he waggled his brow and nudged him.
"Back off, Pinky," retorted Daniel as he moved his shoulder away, blushing to his ears as usual whenever he gets too shy, "I just don’t want to interrupt her, that’s all,"
Pinky shrugged and went back to his own cupcake.
"You know Daniel, we haven’t talked about New Year resolutions yet," Brain reminds Daniel.
"Oh yeah? Anything besides trying to take over the world?" Daniel asked sarcastically. "Hey," Said Brain, sounding offended and also mildly insulted by Daniel's tone, "If only we didn’t have the ability to do everything we wanted so easily…"
"I know… Sorry Brain…"
"Anyway! We need a new New Year resolution!" Pinky said excitedly, "I have one where I can be able to learn how to play piano for my How To videos! What about you Brain? Besides taking over the world?"
"Ooh, I bet he’s gonna improve on his tweaking," Daniel teased, feeling the gloom go away now that he’s talking to his best friends.
"WHAT!? I— Daniel!" Brain shouts in shock, his cheeks heating up red, "I do NOT dance seggestively like that! And even if I did, that would be a private thing!"
"Oh really," Daniel smirked as he reclined on the couch, putting his hands behind his head, "That explains that time you left yourself exposed with November's… Incedent.
(Flashback)
We see Brain in the bathroom dancing sensually in the mirror as he sings.
Brain: (as he dances seductively) I pick all my skirts to be a little too sexy Just like all my thoughts, they always get a bit naughty When I'm out with my girls, I always play a bit bitchy Can't change the way I am, sexy, naughty, bitchy me
Daniel sees the door open and looks inside and Brain flushed furiously upon seeing him in the mirror.
"DON'T COME IN! DON'T COME IN!"
(end of flashback)
"NARF! I remember that!" Pinky laughed happily, "It just makes me all giddy to think about how cute it was to see you shake your little butt all jiggly wiggly, listening to dirty pop. ZORT!"
"Shake what?" Brain chuckled nervously, feeling his face burn more red in embarrassment, "You're exaggerating."
"What are we going to celebrate this year, anyway?" asked SugarBaby from across the table.
"Well SugarBaby," Spot started as she mixed the batter, "New Years is the most important day of the year after the 365th day and becoming even more better than last year,”
"And we will become even better next year!” finished Brain, “It is not just the end of our days that will make us greater. It is the very fact that we exist, and rule the world!"
Raven rolled her eyes at the last part.
"You know guys, I feel a lot better talking to you guys," Daniel said, "I'm glad things worked out between us!"
"Of course they did! Why else would we all be here right now?" Said Billigo.
Dot raised a hand, causing everyone's attention to turn towards the little green mouse.
"Um… I was wondering…" She started hesitantly, "Would any of you like a kiss or anything?"
"Dot! We are not starting the year off with cooties!" Wakko teased.
"Fine, I’ll kiss Daniel then," Said Dot.
"What!? Dot, why would you want—" Daniel asked in shock before his lips met Dot's. His entire face turned bright red and he was forced to pull away as everyone burst into laughter.
“Aw Daniel,” Said Dot sympathetically, “Don’t worry about the year, it’s just because we love you,”
“Yeah, yeah…” Daniel muttered, steam coming out his ears, "But, I never agreed to kissing you, Dot,"

Summary: Whiskey tries Tinder, and when that doesn’t work discovers a Sugar Baby app that has him most intrigued. Jack gives his Babygirl her first punishment.
Soft light filtered through sheer curtains, you stretched out lazily, feeling your joints pop and click. Idly, your foggy brain wondered just when your bed became this big and soft.
You fought to drift back off to sleep as memories of last night slowly came back to you,
          Cracking an eye open to confirm that yes, you had gone home with the sexy Daddy who wined and dined you last night. You couldn’t contain the smile on your face as you remembered everything that had happened, the slight ache between your legs reminding you of the best part.
You turned over to snuggle up to your cowboy Daddy, only to find he wasn’t there. You sat up, disappointed and confused, looking around the expansive room for him,  reaching to his side you deduced he had been gone only a short while by the lukewarm heat left on the sheets, you listened carefully, trying to figure out just where he was.
There was muffled shuffling outside of the room, coming from downstairs, and the delicious smell that was wafting into the room made your stomach growl.
You slid out of the covers to go explore, picking up Jack’s discarded dress shirt off the floor and throwing it on before heading off in search of him.  As you left the bedroom you heard him softly humming, a familiar country tune you couldn’t quite place. Softly padding your way down the stairs there you found him, in his open kitchen, wearing a stetson, jeans and nothing else. His back was facing you, you watched the muscles there ripple as he poured batter into the waffle iron beside him, cursing when hot batter splashed back onto his bare stomach. “Careful Daddy,” you teased, as you leaned against an island counter, making him jump slightly.
He turned to face you with a soft smile, wiping the batter off of his front with a rag.
“Morning Honey Bee. Did I wake you?” he asked, rounding the island to give you a gentle kiss.
You hummed at the name, it was the same one you had used on the Sugar baby App, which you still needed to delete for him.
“Not at all, Cowboy,” you teased, flicking his stetson playfully.
“I was hoping to give you breakfast in bed,” he drawled, playing with the hem of the shirt you were wearing absentmindedly. His other hand went to the small of your back, gently holding you to his front as he rocked the two of you slowly, dancing in place to music that wasn’t there.
“Seems that plans out the window now, you hungry?”
You nodded your head. “Starving. I worked up quite an appetite last night,” you giggled, wrapping your arms around him and resting your chin on his soft front, looking up at him with a giddy smile.
He chuckled,and bent forward to place a quick kiss to your forehead.
“That you did, I guess riding takes a lot out of you huh?” he teased with a wink.
You rolled your eyes at the joke, but your smile confirmed to him you liked it either way.
              He was content holding you just like that, swaying gently together as if you were the only two people in existence, the only thing pulling him away from your embrace was the smell of burning batter.
“Shit, shit!” he cursed, untangling himself from your arms, trying to save what he could of the breakfast. “Damn!”
He unplugged the iron and wafted away the faint smoke with his stetson, trying to thin it out enough to avoid the smoke alarm going off.
“Sorry, Darlin, I was trying to be all romantic and make you breakfast,” he coughed, scraping burnt batter out of the machine. “But it seems my cooking skills ain't up to par.”
“I’m just flattered that you went through the effort for me,” you smiled, coming up behind him and wrapping your arms around him again, kissing his bare shoulder blades.
“Of course, gotta take care of my girl,” he moved the waffle iron to the side and cleaned up the mess on the bench.
“How bout we just order something Darl? Since i’ve made such a mess of this?” He suggested, turning in your embrace and resting his large hands on your hips.
“Sounds delightful” you hummed, standing on your tiptoes to give him a chaste kiss.
“Here,” he said as he pulled his phone out of his back pocket, unlocking it and passing it to you.
“You open that ‘uber app and pick whatever you’re fancying Princess.”
You took the phone and browsed through the app as he cleaned up what he could, deciding on the safe bet of waffle house, since Jack had seemed so insistent on making them for you to begin with.
With the food ordered and on its way, you relaxed on the couch, waiting for him to finish cleaning up. You lay on your stomach, making sure his shirt was only just covering your ass as you flipped through a TV magazine he had laying around.
The rummaging in the kitchen eventually grew silent, shortly followed by warm fingers gently caressing up the back of your thigh to your ass, giving it a firm squeeze.
You hummed, pleased as you felt his weight join you, blanketing himself over you carefully, making sure he didn’t crush you.
You giggled as you felt his mustache tickle your neck, where he peppered many hot kisses across your skin.
“D-Daddy,” you giggled, wiggling in his grasp as he continued to tickle you with his facial hair. “Food will be here soon.”
He growled, not too pleased at the idea of having to cut his playtime short before it had even had a chance to get started.
“You’re right, Baby, we’ll have to have some fun later,” he sighed, burying his face into your neck for soft snuggles rather than the heated kisses, a change you had no complaint about either way.  “Don’t need to get all worked up before heading to the lobby. Might give a poor delivery driver a heart attack if I answer the door full mast,” he snickered into your neck.
You rolled your eyes again at his immature humor but you were once more unable to keep your own smile off of your face.
“We can play after breakfast though. Right Daddy?” You asked, running your foot over this strong calves teasingly.
“Mmhhhh, of course Baby, “ he said, placing another kiss on your neck. “You only have to ask and Daddy will play with you whenever you want. Unless you’re being a brat for me.”
You hummed in appreciation at the implication.  Past Daddies had never been very...successful at the whole punishment and reward aspect of your usual relationship dynamic. Your string of bad luck when it came to your relationships didn’t just translate to the relationships with your Daddies failing, but also to how skilled they were with mixing the punishments and pleasures you hungered for. You had never been left completely satisfied in a relationship before.
But, since meeting him, there wasn't a doubt in your mind that Jack’s ability to take care of you, to punish and pleasure you in the way you had been craving for years, would finally scratch that itch. To satisfy your hunger. You weren’t just a sugar Baby for the money after all.
“I’ll be good for you,” you teased, breathlessly lifting your ass up into his hips, causing him to groan.
“Teasing's not what a good girl does, Honey Bee,” he warned, using your moniker again. It was like he was reminding you of your place, something that should have been a red flag in any other type of relationship, but with Jack, it only served to turn you on more.
“What happened to not answering the door at full mast?” You continued to tease.
“Half mast...different story,” Jack joked, snatching his phone up with one hand to check on the progress of the food.
“It’s on its way,” he hummed, getting up off of you carefully, gently patting your ass as he straightened up. “Should probably go put a shirt on then.”
“Awww,” you pouted, flipping over to watch him walk over to the stairs.
“I’ll take my shirt back off when I get back with the food baby, but only if you take yours off first, Honey Bee,” he winked playfully at you before heading upstairs.
He returned from his room, now wearing a plain white T-shirt which showed off his biceps deliciously, and some fancy looking cowboy boots to complete his casual country look.  “I’ll be back with the food in just a minute Darlin,” he said, coming over to you and giving you a slow, deep kiss. “Be good.”
You batted your eyelashes up at him, playing innocent as he took off, grabbing his keys and leaving you alone in his apartment.
Bored without his attention and curious about him, you took the opportunity alone to explore. You hopped up off the couch and started to inspect his apartment. Upstairs you found an additional two bedrooms and bathroom , they were of little interest to you outside of their stunning views of the city, the interesting parts of his apartment were all downstairs, you discovered.  A private gym, a balcony with views of central park and his own pool! You were half tempted to jump in and wait for him to return but you didn’t want to get in trouble with him, at least not yet.  You headed back inside and were about to inspect the last room of the house when you spied through the glass door a heavy wooden desk and laptop sitting on top of it, it was his office. Remembering his warning, you loosened your grip on the handle, backing away slowly.
“What did I tell you bout my office, Babygirl?” his deep baritone startled you, you hadn’t heard him return.    He stood in the open lounge behind you, one hand on his hip, the other holding the takeout boxes, quirking an eyebrow at you questioningly.  His question was a clear warning to you.
“You said I can't go in there, and I remembered!” You explained as you turned to face him fully. “I didn’t go in, I stopped as soon as I realized it was your office Daddy, I promise.”
 He regarded you for a moment, searching your eyes. He believed you it seemed. “Good,” he purred, putting the boxes on the coffee table. He grabbed two plates and cutlery from the adjacent kitchen and returned to flop onto the couch with as much grace a man his age could muster.
 “Come here Baby,” Jack beckoned you with his finger, before he sat down and toed off his boots, kicking them underneath the coffee table.
He held out his arm in invitation of a cuddle which you happily accepted, tucking your knees under yourself as you curled up to his side. He gave you a tender kiss to your forehead then served up the food onto the plates.
“There you go, Baby,” he smiled, handing you a plate. “Wish i could have made it myself, but this will have to do for now. One day I'll make you a romantic breakfast in bed.”
“I like that idea Daddy,” you hummed, digging into your food quite happily. “But i’m certainly not complaining about this either.”
You both sat, lazily cuddling as you ate your breakfast together, not in any particular rush to get on with the rest of the day. You finished first, putting your plate on the coffee table in front of you while you waited for him. “You might finish it quicker if you let go of me Daddy,” you teased, causing him to cock an eyebrow at you, looking at you as if you had just grown two heads. “Now why would I want to do that, Babygirl?” He asked, the arm around you squeezing the flesh of your exposed thigh.
“I wasn’t complaining Daddy, I just thought it might have been easier.”
“I know Baby,” he kissed your cheek. “But i much prefer this.” When he had finally finished his food he stacked his plate on top of yours, picked up a blank notepad off the glass top then pulled you up onto his lap.
“Now, Baby,” he murmured, playing with the top button of the shirt you were wearing, his shirt.
“What do you say we get that little ‘contract’ sorted? Should be something we get out of the way before we have anymore fun together, don’cha think? I don't want to overstep any boundaries with you.” You nodded in agreement, looping your arms around his neck as he began writing.
You found it really cute the way his brow would furrow as he wrote, trying his best to balance the notepad between the two of you and not get distracted by your close proximity. When he was done, he re-read the whole page, giving it a nod of approval before flipping it for you to read.
You made sure to read it properly, to make sure everything was covered. It was a detailed list of all the rules you had both agreed to the previous night, with the important ones underlined for emphasis, safeword, exclusivity, communication. You smiled, giving him your approval. He then flipped to another page, writing down a list, you tried your best to read it upside down, curious as to what else he could be writing. Figuring out a few of the words you realized he was writing a list of kinks.
He gave it another once over before showing you.
“Like I said Princess, I don’t want to cross any boundaries with you, I need to know beforehand if you’ll be just as enthusiastic for these as I am,” he said, rubbing your thigh as you took the list and read it. “It's all fun and games talking punishment and rewards until I get to it and find out you don’t like what I'm doing to ya.”
You took the pen from his hand, crossing out the hard no’s, leaving only your favorites on his expansive list.
Over stimulation Choking Bondage/restraints Throat fucking Spanking Slapping Riding crop Public sex Collars Toys- Plugs, vibrators, Dildos- others Orgasm denial Cock warming Roleplay - costumes Rough sex Ice Candle wax Degradation/name calling  Fisting Anal Spitting
“Perfect” you purred, handing it back to him so he could confirm what you had approved off. He grinned widely as he read it, his eyes growing dark from lust. You were just the same, already feeling the familiar sensation of your arousal pooling.
“Hooo, Honey Bee,” he growled contentedly, reading your amendments. “You left all my favorites on here.” He tossed the notepad onto a side table, discarding it and leaving his full attention on you. “Now keep in mind, those kinks are just for punishments and rewards...We can add more if we want to later, and we can explore other kinks any other time...I just need to know what you want when Daddy punishes you.” You nodded, agreeing with his words. You were exceptionally grateful at just how serious he was taking his role and control over you, making sure you would be comfortable and feel safe with everything he wanted to do with you, confirming to both of you he had your enthusiastic consent for some of the more...extreme elements of your growing relationship.
“Mind answering a question for me, Darlin?” He asked, gently undoing the top button of your shirt.
“Of course not Daddy, ask away.”
“Got any toys at home?” His hands continued popping buttons of the shirt you were wearing, his voice was curious, with that hungry growl still hidden beneath it.
“Y-yes, i have toys,” you admitted truthfully.
“Get rid of them,” he ordered firmly, staring at your chest as his calloused hand slipped underneath your now unbuttoned shirt, pushing the shirt off of your shoulders, exposing you to him.
“B-but Daddy, they were expensive,” you whined, gripping his shoulders as his large, rough hands moved to cup your breasts.
He dragged his gaze away from your tits to look you in the eyes.
“What was that? You answering back to me already, baby?” He growled, giving your breasts a harsh squeeze in warning, making you gasp. “Your pleasure belongs to me now, remember? I decide when you get to feel good…And no toy is going to do my job for you.” He began rolling your nipples in his fingers, causing your head to fall back in pleasure. He gave you a growl in warning, a wordless command of eyes on me, and you dragged your gaze back to him, whimpering at his touches. You had started to get wet as you read his Kink list, just the idea of exploring them had started to work you up, but now, with his deft fingers and possessive words, you feel yourself getting wetter.
“When you get home, you’re going to throw all those toys you have in the trash,” he squeezed your breasts together, still toying with your nipples. “Then you’re going to send Daddy a photo to prove it….And then, when i think you’ve earned it, we’re going shopping for some new, special toys we get to use together. For when you’ve been a good girl for Daddy…or a Bad girl.”
You bit your lip to hide the whimper at the implications, unsuccessfully. Once again he was proving just how capable he was at his Daddy role for you. He chuckled at how helpless you sounded, dragging one of his hands down your front to slip between your legs, fingers quickly becoming covered in your slick. “You’re very naughty baby, forgetting to put your panties on this morning...Only bad girls go about with no underwear,” he teased, pushing one, long finger inside you slowly. “B-But...You weren't wearing underwear last night!” You gasped, opening your legs wider to give him better access. The hand still on your tit squeezed harder.
“Answering back again?” he growled, shoving another finger inside of you. His other hand let go of your breast and looped around you, pulling you tight up against his front, holding you in place so he could attack your neck with his mouth.  He kissed and licked, running his teeth over the sensitive skin there before growling right into your ear.  “Don’t you dare go around thinking that you can answer back to me, Honey Bee, or that what Daddy says don’t matter.”
Your moniker, again, reminding you just what you were to him, what he was to you.
One simple name you had heard many times before, but coming from his mouth, his husky voice, it held so much power and control over you.
The two fingers inside you pushed in as deep as they could go, curling back and forth to tease at your sweet spot. You tried to wiggle in his grasp, either to get away from the stimulation or get closer, you weren’t sure, but his grip on you held fast.
“If I say something makes you a bad girl, then you best listen...Don’t matter if Daddy does it too, you do as I say, not as I do...You’re not a big enough girl to behave like that…” he teased you, gently curling his fingers one minute then thrusting his hand into you harshly the next, fingering you as fast as he could in the position. “Thought you wanted to be my good girl?” he rasped, chuckling darkly when you began writhing in his hold, whining and arching your back, holding onto him for dear life, your manicured nails digging into his biceps as the obscene wet slaps of his hand thrusting into you joined your whines.
His words and deft fingers had brought you quicker to the edge than you had ever been in your life. Something about the way he became so possessive and controlling over you turned you on so easily, you felt your core tighten up and more arousal seep down your thighs.
Gripping his shoulders you whimpered out a warning that you were going to cum. He sped his hand up, thumb rubbing quick circles into your clit for one teasing moment, and right before you flew over the edge, he pulled his fingers free from you. “W-wha?” you asked befuddled, straightening back up to look at him. “Daddy why?”
He stood up, tossing you onto the couch on your back before bringing his fingers to his mouth, moaning as he tasted your essence still coating them. “I’ll tell you why, Baby,” he said, pulling his fingers free and licking his lips as if he had just eaten the finest dessert. “You talked back to Daddy,” he leant over top of you so his nose brushed yours. “And then I find out you’re being a filthy little girl by not wearing panties…” He slapped your thigh hard enough to sting. “And then you had the gall to talk back to me, again.”
He shoved his mouth against yours for a deep, domineering kiss. It was bruising. You could taste the faint flavor of the syrup from the waffles you shared, combined with your own juices, on his tongue. He cupped your jaw to deepen the kiss, then pulling away only when you had become lost to the sensation, driving you insane once again by denying you just as it got really heated. “Now, we’re both new to this...It’s going to take a while for us both to learn all the rules,” he said, straightening up and pulling his shirt over his head, tossing it to the side, forgotten. He was back on you, kneeling between your legs before you could even admire his soft tummy again.  “But if I let this one slide, Baby, I fear you won’t learn the rules...If I let you get away with answering back to me, and being filthy now...Well you won’t learn your lesson, will ya?”
One hand slid back between your legs, ghosting over your soaked folds teasingly. You whimpered again, listing your hips for more contact, batting your eyes up at him in hopes to soften him up
“But since this is a first offence,” Jack chuckled, gently pinching your clit between two fingers, “I’ll go easy on you. But don’t think those pretty eyes will work on me all the time, baby.”
“Daddy” you whined, feeling completely helpless underneath him and loving it. “Hmmm? Now what do we think is an appropriate punishment for a first time offence?” He asked, pushing one finger back inside you, thrusting it in and out agonizingly slowly while his thumb circled your clit with feather light passes. Touching you and filling you up, but not enough to satisfy the burning need in you. He watched intently as you tried to seek out more stimulation, raising your hips up into his hand, but he put a stop to that quickly, holding your hips down with his free hand.  “Stay still,” he growled. “You take what I give you, Honey bee, don’t be greedy.”  He watched you with his head cocked, as he decided on your punishment.  “I think we’ll keep it simple,” he continued. “A spanking seems appropriate...Don’t you agree?”
Jack paused, and you realized he was waiting for a response, an approval and consent over his chosen punishment.  “Y-yes...a spanking seems fair Daddy,” you pouted, looking up at him through your lashes.
“Good” he rumbled, scooping you up and gently laying you across his lap. You could feel his erection pressed up against your belly.
You wanted it inside you, but you knew you had to earn it. One of his arms looped around your middle, keeping you still while the other was gently massaging your ass and rubbing your pussy. “Listen up, Girl,” he said, voice firm. “You are to say “red” if this gets too much, you understand?” he asked, waiting for your verbal affirmation before continuing. “Good, after each spank, I want you to say ‘I will not talk back to Daddy’. Can you repeat that for me?” “I- I will not talk back to Daddy,” you moaned, wiggling your hips to get more friction up against your pussy. “Good,” he praised again, rewarding you with more friction just where you wanted it, his palm rubbing up and down over your folds.
“You’re going to get ten spanks...And then Daddy's going to give you a reward afterwards, if you’re good for me.”
You nodded, letting him know you understood. “I want you to count them out too,” was his final instruction as he raised his hand, bringing it back down against your ass with a hard SLAP! “O-one!” You yelped. “I will not talk back to Daddy!” He hummed in approval, you felt his erection brush up against your stomach again, twitching in the confines of his pants. SLAP! “Two!” I will now talk back to Daddy!”
It continued, you tried your hardest to keep still with each slap, to stop rubbing your thighs together, but each slap only seemed to make you wetter, to make you want him more. Slap after slap after slap, you remained his good little girl. “T-Ten! I- I will not talk back to Daddy!”  you cried, tears from the pain running down your face. You were left sore and sensitive, but despite the pain you felt burning pleasure fill your whole body. Jack really was living up to your dream expectations as your Daddy, you were reminded one again just how perfect he was for you.
He proved himself more with how he treated you after a punishment.
His hand began massaging your ass again, soothing the sting. Jack nuzzled the side of your face affectionately as he stroked the hand shaped welts forming on your ass gently.
“Whats your color, Babygirl?” he asked softly, kissing your cheek.
“G-green,” you panted, calming your breath and racing heart down. “Good, good,” he praised, carefully helping you stand on your feet, back facing him. Your legs felt like jelly, you were ready to collapse but his hands on your waist kept you standing. “You took your punishment so well, baby, Daddy is so proud of you!” He kissed the growing welts, praising you. “What a good girl you are, taking Daddys punishment. And look at this,” one of his hands pushed between your legs, coating his fingers once again in your arousal. “You’re even wetter than before...I’m not sure it's much of a punishment if you liked it that much, but a promise is a promise, you took your punishment and behaved...My little girl deserves her reward now, don’t you think?” You moaned and nodded, pushing back against his hand despite how sore you were. “Hmmmm, and I know you’re sore baby, but damn if you didn’t make Daddy as hard as a fucking rock through out all of that. Think you’ll be able to take my cock?”
He chuckled when you nodded eagerly.
“Course you can, you’re fucking soaked.” He stood up and gently laid you down on your stomach on the couch. You watched over your shoulder as he pulled a condom out of his pocket and began unbuckling his belt, shoving his pants down his hips.
Once again, he wasn’t wearing underwear, the hypocrite, but you held your tongue.
Daddy had just taught you a lesson about answering back, you weren't willing to give up your reward after all that delicious torture. “You’re ass looks fucking gorgeous covered in my hand prints,” he rasped, kicking his pants away and ripping the packet open with his teeth.  “I just want to stare at those pretty welts as I fuck you with my cock, might get a little sore again, baby...Tell me to stop and I will.”
You nodded, letting him know you understood as he positioned himself behind you, he rolled the condom on, briefly wiping up the precum that had gathered at his tip onto his hand, he held his fingers to your mouth for you to taste.
He groaned as you swirled your tongue around them, coating his fingers in your saliva and tasting the proof of his arousal. With the condom in place, Jack held himself at his base, rubbing his tip up against your soaked folds, back and forth. “Tell me you’ll be a good girl for me from now on,” he teased, you could hear that arrogant smile in his voice. You whined, frustrated he was holding your reward over your head so to speak. “I’ll be a good girl for you, Daddy...I won't answer back like that again!” you moaned into one of the throw pillows on the couch, holding it against your chest and face, anchoring yourself to something as you tried not to scream from frustration at his teasing. “Yeah? You’ll be a good girl and listen to Daddy too? Keeping still when I tell you to? Not arguing if I deem your behavior naughty?”
At this point you were sure he was just trying to torture you further. “Yes! Yes Daddy! Please! I swear I'll be good, just please!” you begged. “I’ve been a good girl! Please, I just want your cock!” You didn’t care how pathetic or desperate you sounded as you begged him to fill you, he had manhandled you and spanked you deliciously, in a way no Daddy ever had before and if this was just a ‘mild’ punishment, it excited you further to think how he would handle something more extreme in the future.
You had never been more aroused in your entire life.
“Good girls don’t speak like that” he warned, you feared another punishment when you were this close to your pleasure that you actually sobbed into the pillow. “But I'll forgive you, you have been a good girl for me, taking your punishment so well....” he trailed off, distracted by the sight of his aching tip poking at your folds that were framed by his growing marks. He was so close to just...pushing in. It was agonizing having him so close to filling you up and you let him know. Pleading and sobbing harder into the pillow. Taking mercy on you, he pushed forward excruciatingly slow, making you sob in relief, satisfying your burning need, if only for a moment.   “You’re just so desperate for Daddy’s cock,” he rasped, enraptured by his effect on you.
You moaned and continued sobbing into the pillow, overwhelmed to be finally filled with him.
His guttural moan joined yours as he bottomed out, sinfully loud.The stretch of his was slightly painful, given he did not take the time to prepare you as carefully as he did the night before. But the way he split you open, was divine. He wasn’t wrong in saying you were desperate for his cock,  and who could blame you when he filled you up so good?
“Jesus, fuck, I don’t think I ever been inside a hole this wet before, Baby,” he grated, rocking his hips into you slowly.  “I can feel it, coating down our legs...Didn’t realize you were such a whore for punishment and Daddy's cock.”  It sounded like an insult, but the wicked grin you heard in his voice told you otherwise. He was delighted at the discovery of just how needy he could make you.
You were about to comment back when he slowly pulled out of you and then thrust back in, hard, making you scream at the devastating pleasure of him stretching and filling you and the deliciously painful sensation of his hips slapping up against your sore ass.
Jack chuckled again, beginning a steady, fast and deep pace thrusting into you. He grabbed the back of your neck, pulling you up enough so your face wasn’t buried in the throw pillow. “I want to hear your screams, baby,” he snarled, punctuating his sentence with a devastatingly harsh thrust.  He laughed at you, mockingly, as you screamed again.
“Fuck, I love hearing your noises, baby, you sound so hot, makes Daddy even harder.”  You felt him twitch inside you as he said it, making you whimper.
You had no words left, only able to focus on the way he filled you up and rammed against your deepest spot. The burning sting of your ass each time his hips met yours drove you wild. He moaned and growled in approval at the noises you were making, but you were so lost that you weren't even aware you were making them or what you were saying. He rambled on behind you, his raspy voice praising how tight you were, how good you felt around him. You could barely focus on his words.
“Rub your clit baby,” he ordered, the hand not gripping your neck rubbing your ass as he admired your marks. “Daddy wants you to cum on his cock...You’ve earned it”
You did as you were told, reaching beneath you to rub yourself with a trembling arm. You could feel his balls slap against your fingers with earth thrust. And he was right, you were soaked, your fingers were able to glide smoothly over your bud, sending jolts of pleasure throughout your body like electricity.  You felt your core clamping down on him instantly, making him moan.
“Fuck, just when I think you can’t get any tighter,” he rumbled. “You’re close, aren't cha Honey Bee? I can feel it,you’re such a perfect little cock whore for me, come on..cum for Daddy, fucking soak me even more.” You whimpered, rubbing your clit faster at his words.
“Cum for Daddy, right fucking now!” You obeyed, you felt like you were being hit by a freight train.
His teasing and leaving you right as you reached your peak earlier, mixed with the unbearable arousal he had caused with his spanking and dirty words resulted in the most powerful orgasm you had ever felt in your entire life. You felt the wind being knocked out of you as your core clamped down around him almost painfully and milk him for all he was worth.  Your entire body contorted with pleasure, your legs shook violently as you tried to cling to anything to ride out the powerful waves.            You heard him curse behind you, slamming into you harder, painfully so given how tender your ass was but it only added to the pleasure.  He growled out his release, gripping your neck harder.  “Jesus fuck baby that’s it! Yes! Yes! Fuuuucccck!”  His desperate bucking as he chased his own pleasure as you milked him dry simply intensified your orgasm, leaving you a breathless, panting, sweaty mess as your body shook and came down from your high.  “Perfect fucking pussy.”
Even when you were done, as you began winding down from your high, every slight movement of him behind you made your walls flutter more, making you whimper from the over stimulation.
He groaned deeply behind you as he pulled out, cooing gently at you as you whined. “There we go baby, shhhh now,” came Jack's soothing words.
You melted into the couch, feeling like a heap of boneless jelly as your eyes started to rift close. He got up off the couch and you heard him walk to the kitchen, disposing of his condom you assumed, you were too tired to even care. You were surprised when he came back and rolled you over gently, picking you up bridal style. You let you a whimper of pain and confusion. “Shhh baby, Daddy’s just taking care of you,” he consoled, kissing the crown of your head. “Rest, let me do all the work.” He carried you upstairs, to his room, gently putting you back on ‘your’ side.
You closed your eyes, ready to drift off as you heard him rummage about in his ensuite. He came back, and you felt him gently begin cleaning you up with another warm washcloth. “Look at my baby...so beautiful,” he murmured tenderly, wiping up and down your thighs, throwing the wash cloth to the side to clean up later once your slick had been cleaned up. “You did so well, took Daddy's punishment and cock so well...What a lucky man I am.” He continued to praise you as he gently rolled you onto your front. You whimpered, your body aching and protesting but you let him manhandle you more. You heard something else rustle, then a zipper. There was a pop of a cap followed by the soothing sensation of his hands rubbing cream into your abused skin.           You whined, the cream too cold for your burning skin but he soothed you with gentle kisses peppered along your shoulder blades. “Let Daddy take care of you, it will be done soon,” he promised. With your welts thoroughly coated you sighed in content, already feeling the stinging sensation start to fade away. “There we go,” he praised, packing up what you now knew to be the first aid kit. He went to put it away and wash his hands before he returned. He moved to lay next to you, fidgeting a bit, wanting to pull you up against him but not willing to agitate your sore ass. He contented himself by laying on his side,  watching you as one hand resting on your back, stroking it affectionately and limbs intertwined  with yours. He kissed everywhere he could reach, just as he had last night, he spoke to you gently, letting you focus on his words rather than on how sore you were. “Rest Baby, when you wake up, we’ll have a lot of work to do,” he hummed. “Gonna get'cha all cleaned up, put a nice meal in your belly, make sure you’re all taken care of.” You snuggled deeper into the plush pillow you were laying on, a smile forming on your lips at his soft promises. “Then Daddy's going to have to get ya home, gonna need to get your allowance sorted, and see you get your appointment for your implant...Daddy wants you without a condom as soon as possible.” he teased, his fingers dancing on your back gently, making the flesh jump.
You whined at the ticklish sensation and he chuckled. “Go to sleep baby, i’ll be here when you wake up this time,” he murmured the promise into your ear as you finally drifted off.

Hendery and JiHo | It’s Awkward But It’s Ok
warnings: none
❀  Haechan and Yangyang torturing making Hendery and JiHo even more awkward around each other
Tumblr media
“World’s first!” “Idol’s first.” “The content that only NCT can do ‘It’s Awkward But It’s OK’. We’re today’s hosts, I’m Haechan!” “And I’m Yangyang.” The hosts introduce themselves, already excited for what was to come. “We’re back once again, because after our last shoot today’s guests came into mind.” Haechan explains. “Yes! Today we have a very interesting pairing. Just thinking of these two make me cringe.” Yangyang curls his fingers as he finishes his sentence. “But as per usual, at the end of today’s video our guests will be completely comfortable with each other, so please look forward to it!”
[Is there an NCT member you feel awkward with?]
Without much hesitation JiHo shakes her head. “Not really, I think I get along with everyone pretty well. Although there are some members I don’t know that well yet, I hope I don’t have to feel awkward around anyone.”
Hendery, who’s in a different room as the girl, laughs nervously. “I think there’s a lot of members. Until now I’ve only really worked with WayV and gotten close to Renjun and Chenle who are also Chinese. I’ve gotten to know much more NCT members this year, but I’m not confident enough to say I’m not awkward with them.”
[Do you feel awkward around Hendery/JiHo?]
JiHo laughs as realisation hits her. “Yes.”
“Yes.” Hendery nods carefully, his cheeks slightly turning red under his makeup.
[Why do you think you two are chosen to be on the show?]
“I usually get along with all the members, but I haven’t really had the chance to get closer to Hendery...” Her words become a bit more slowed at the end of the sentence as if she just thought of something. “Hmm, maybe that’s not true. I definitely had the chance, but for some reason things are just awkward between us.”
Hendery lowers his head. “I think I might be the only member who’s still awkward around JiHo. I think she’s really cool, but I don’t know how to approach her really. She hangs out with the WayV members a lot these days, but I find it hard to talk to her. She’s always really nice though.” He explains.
[Could Hendery and JiHo grow close?]
Haechan throws his head back. “Of course, with us here to help them they’ll become best friends.” He has a cocky smile on his face which causes Yangyang to laugh.
“You know how JiHo hangs out with WayV a lot recently?” Yangyang faces Haechan who nods in response. “Kun hyung and Ten hyung say that those two (Hendery and JiHo) could be really good friends if they weren’t as awkward.” “Oh? Really?” “Yes, and I think so too.”
“JiHo when you walk out just sit down without saying anything.” Haechan says into his walkie-talkie. The girl rolls her eyes but complies. She opens the door and walks to the table in the middle of the room before sitting down. Hendery’s eyes follow the girl’s moves carefully and he brings up a hand to greet her. “Hi.” He says but JiHo doesn’t answer.
In the other room the two boys who are following everything on a small screen started laughing. “Okay you can greet him now.” “Hi Hendery, how have you been?” She asks casually, the change in behaviour almost giving the poor boy whiplash. “I-I’m okay, how are you?” He stutters at first, but quickly gathers his composure. She smiles at him before telling him she’s doing good as well.
After taking the oath it becomes quiet, the awkwardness fills the room again and this time JiHo feels it too. You can see her bouncing her leg from side to side and her eyes don’t know where to rest. “Hyung, you can grab a mission paper, they are right next to you.” Yangyang relays to the boy who was currently doing his best not to get overwhelmed by the awkward tension in the air. “Ah~ There are missions here.” Hendery says. His shaky hand reaches out to the pieces of paper and he almost drops the one he’s trying to grab. “Hey, I’m not going to bite or anything.” The girl tries to make him feel a bit more relaxed, but it doesn’t look like it helped much by the awkward laugh that leaves Hendery’s lips.
“Preserving our mem-memories?” Hendery tilts his head. “Did I say that right?” JiHo nods, a soft smile on her face. “Hendery. Tell JiHo to read the mission for you.” “Actually, JiHo? Could you read the mission for me?” He hands over the paper and she takes it. “Read it slowly. Really slowly.” Haechan giggles and Jiho shakes her head fighting back a smile. “Take pictures and-” “Slower!” Hendery tries not to laugh once JiHo unexpectedly starts to speak really slowly. “-and decorate-” “Even slower!” This time JiHo sighs in annoyance before quickly reading the rest of the mission. “-and decorate a diary with the pictures.” “Yah! You have to listen to me.”
After having taken the pictures, JiHo and Hendery are hovering over the diary in the middle of the table. “Oh these pictures came out really well don’t you think?” JiHo looks up at Hendery and he’s about to answer when he pauses a little. Most likely Yangyang, who’s telling him something over the walkie-talkie. “I don’t think so.” He ends up saying and the girl awkwardly laughs. “I guess you’re right. I look pretty bad in this picture right?” JiHo repeats Haechan’s words her teeth gritted ever so slightly. Panic floods Hendery’s eyes, but he’s forced to agree with her. The duo both focus their attention on the diary again and Hendery let’s out a small apology. “Don’t worry Hendery, I’ll deal with those two kids later.” She sends a glare to the camera and Haechan and Yangyang eyes widened. “Yah! You can’t take it out on us!” Haechan tells her, Yangyang’s panicked apology was audible in the background but JiHo just laughs and Hendery joins her.
“Your true feelings. Ask questions and answer honestly.” JiHo reads out the next mission. “Is this with the lie detector?” JiHo looks over to where Hendery is pointing and she nods. “Ask him to bring it to you.” The girl laughs at the dumb request. The lie detector was just behind her, and now Hendery had to get up to get it for her. “Hendery-ssi? Could you grab the lie detector for me?” She avoids eye contact as she asks him for the favour. Hendery looks rather dumbfounded but he stands up anyway. “Tell him to sing a song while he gets it.” This time Yangyang had taken control of the walkie-talkie that was connected to Jiho’s earpiece. “Wait!” Hendery stops and looks at the girl. “Could you sing while you get it?” Now completely stunned he hesitates for a second. A second later he’s singing WayV’s Turn Back Time, while he’s getting it.
“Do you think Haechan’s the most handsome member in NCT?” JiHo laughs loudly before looking at Hendery. “That was Haechan’s question right?” He nods and Jiho turns to the camera before answering the question. “No.” While JiHo hears the boy protest in her ear, Hendery presses the button on the lie detector. They look at it curiously before a red light goes off and it buzzes. JiHo however doesn’t flinch and her gaze hardens. “Wow~” The boy in front of her is in shock at how she didn’t move. “How? D-Doesn’t that hurt?” She shakes her head and takes her hand off the detector. “Nothing hurts more than my pride right now.”
“Honestly.” JiHo looks up at Hendery. “You’re scared of me right?” She only repeated what Haechan was saying but it came out so naturally, it could’ve just been JiHo’s own words. Hendery’s face turns a light shade of red, the tips of his ears even more and he shakes his head. “No. Of course not.” His voice was slightly quivering though and he looks in fear at the plastic machine after JiHo presses the button. It buzzes and the boy quickly retracts his hand. “Aw- I- I swear I’m not afraid of you.” He quickly says.
“Walk up behind him and pat his head and say ‘don’t worry I’ll always protect you’.” JiHo hesitates but does as she’s been told. The older boy freezes slightly but starts laughing as she whispers something in his ear that no one else could hear. “What did she say?” Yangyang asks Hendery curiously and in his turn he tells JiHo what had been said. “I know where you sleep Haechan-ah.” She sings, sending the camera a smirk and Haechan visibly shivers.
It is almost near the end of the show and the duo had a few minutes to freely talk. They seem a lot more happy and giddy around each other, but the awkwardness was still in the air. “I’m not saying that-” “You have to.” JiHo continues to ignore the boy who was communicating with her through her earpiece. Suddenly Hendery interjects and tells her something a bit shocking. “Since we’ve become a bit closer now, it- it’s okay if you- I mean you can call me o-oppa if you want to.” He fumbles over his words and hides his face in his hands. JiHo follows suit as she also hides her face, even going as far as crouching down behind her chair facing away from the camera.
In the other room the two 00s liners are laughing hysterically whilst cringing. JiHo’s attempt to ignore Haechan’s order to ask her Awsaz partner if she could call him ‘oppa’ had failed anyway, as the host and his accomplice had pressured in Hendery into telling her it himself.
The show finally comes to an end and the two hosts join the duo. “How are you guys feeling right now?” Haechan asks and receives a glare from the girl. “I thought you guys were supposed to help, not make things more awkward.” Yangyang decides to answer. “But making things more awkward helps you get closer in the end. Don’t worry you can thank us later!” Haechan agrees and gives the boy a high-five. “Hendery?” The other three look at the boy as he thinks of what to say. “I think JiHo and I will get closer in the future, but I don’t think Yangyang and Haechan will be of any help with that.” JiHo agrees enthusiastically and now it’s their turn to share a high-five.
“Last question. JiHo? Will you be calling Hendery oppa from now on?” JiHo rolls her eyes but then turns to her ‘co-guest’. “I mean, he is older than me, so if he’s comfortable with that I wouldn’t mind.” Hendery nods slightly and JiHo hums in response. “That will be it for today then! Thank you, Czennie for watching and your favourite Awsaz duo are now less awkward because of us.” The four wave towards the camera but JiHo steals a look from Haechan. “I don’t know about that last part, but... Bye bye!”

Side Note: I had to push this out for today since I had no inspiration and this girl is tired af so it might not be as coherent as it should be. We’re back to our usual fluff for now. I know I sound like a broken record, but thanks for the support on my little 2 part angst scenario over the last 2 days.
Also I’m currently hard stanning WayV help me. Stream ‘Kick Back’ 🤍

Tumblr media
PREVIOUS CHAPTER
The next morning you somehow found yourself a tangle of arms and legs with Peter.
After the initial wariness of your surroundings faded you were still finding it hard to believe this was all real you relaxed into him again. You pushed your face into his chest and breathed in his calming scent as his strong arms unconsciously tightened around you.
Your eyes slipped closed again and you were almost asleep again when the light sliding of the door opening could be heard.
You hoped they’d go away once they saw you were both asleep but there was no such peace with the Avengers.
“Aww look at how cute they are. You owe me five bucks Sam,” Natasha spoke.
“No you owe me, I said they’d be attached at the hip within 12 hours and you said 20,” you could practically hear the smirk in his voice.
“Okay, but I said 8 so, both of you pay up,” Bucky interrupted and it took everything in you not to look at them and roll your eyes.
You could hear the exchange of money and Bucky’s over-enthused “Thank you,” in reply.
Peter groaned beside you and held you closer, “You guys are way too loud,” he told them, eyes still closed.
“And you’re way too stingy, can’t we see her too?” Nat said and you giggled a little at that, effectively blowing your cover.
“She’s up!” Sam said and you and Peter both sat up, rubbing at your eyes and stretching.
“She wants to go back to sleep,” you told them and they laughed lightly.
“No time for that. Time for hugs,” Nat said, coming to your side of the bed.
Meanwhile, Peter got out of the bed and told you he’d be back with breakfast before kissing your cheek. The simple action made you giddy.
“Bleh,” Bucky fake gagged as Peter left and he and sam sat in his now vacant spot.
You hugged each of them tight, you hadn’t realized how much you missed everyone.
“So lover boy was here all night, huh?” Sam asked wiggling his eyebrows as if he didn’t know the answer.
“Yes he was, we talked and we slept and I will take no more questions,” you crossed your arms over your chest.
“That better be it,” Bucky said but there was no threat in his voice that warranted concern.
“Gosh, you’re really showing your age today aren’t you Buck?” Nat teased before turning to you. “Earlier he asked me what an AirPod was,” she laughed and you laughed with her.
“And here I thought you were getting the hang of this new fangled century,” you told him.
“Listen I’m trying okay, everything is so fancy for no reason,” he sulked and you laughed again.
“Seriously though kid, how are you?” Sam questioned and they all looked at you expectantly.
“In one piece,” you said honestly. “Some scrapes and bruises and a cut on the back of my neck that’ll probably scar but I’m alive,” you smiled.
“Was it a shock device?” Bucky asked darkly.
You hesitated before answering, “Yeah.”
Bucky’s metal arm flexed as he balled his hand into a fist, “I’ll fucking kill those HYDRA assholes one day.”
You placed a hand on top of his fist, “Hey,” he looked up at you, “I’m alright. Thanks to all of you I’m here and breathing. I love you guys.”
Before you knew it they pulled you into a hug and you held back tears giving you their own declarations of love. When Peter came back in with food they all decided to let you eat in peace with your boyfriend. Peter told you the doctors would be here around one and in the meantime, you’d probably get several visitors.
All too soon, he had to leave for the city, there was only so much school he could avoid without the possibility of not graduating on time. He left with a promise returning that evening and a soft kiss on your lips.
Before anyone new came in you asked FRIDAY to call your mom downstairs. She helped you shower and change into sweats and one of Peter’s shirts with a wink. She told you that she would have stayed longer but Morgan would be waking up for the day soon.
Your dad stopped by for a little after she left and after Sam and Bucky blew something up he also had to leave.
The next ones to walk through the door were Steve and Rhodey.
“Well if it isn’t two of my favorite soldiers,” you smiled as they walked in.
“As long as I’m the number one favorite I accept,” Rhodey said before gathering you into his arms for a tight hug.
When he let go Steve was next, “Keep dreaming Rhodes.”
“Well I would tell you who my favorite was if I thought it wouldn’t hurt your feelings,” you told them as they had taken the same positions as everyone else and sat on either side of you.
“C’mon now Y/N you wouldn’t want to give the old man a heart attack.”
Steve rolled his eyes.
“Anyways, how are you Y/N?” Steve asked.
“Good, healing, y’know? Seems like it’ll be a long process but I feel better than I did when I first woke up last night.”
“I’m glad to hear it, we’re only going up from here.”
“Definitely, by the way, I haven’t seen Thor, Clint, or Bruce today.”
“Thor is off-world, apparently whatever HYDRA used to brainwash Harley is similar to the mind stone so he’s trying to get it out ahead of it,” Steve told you.
“Clint had to run home, Laura is going to give birth soon and Bruce should be by later with your other doctors,” Rhodey finished.
“Ah got it. I cant wait for little Y/N to be born,” you said.
“Yeah because Barton is definitely gonna want to name is kid after the girl who put retractable grates in the vents to mess with him,” Rhodey rolled his eyes.
“Well he shouldn’t have tried to prank me on my own turf.”
“Everywhere is your turf,” Steve said.
You grinned, “Exactly.”
Steve hesitated before speaking again and his face became solemn, “Listen I’m sorry that I couldn’t do more for you that night.”
“So am I, we’re family, I should have protected you,” Rhodey added. They both let their heads hang low.
You took one of each of their hands into you, “You guys, look at me,” they obeyed, “I’m so incredibly happy right now you have no idea. A lot went wrong but I’m okay, even if I do have to spend a couple extra days in here.”
They both smiled at you and things felt okay again. They stayed for a little while longer leaving you with words of encouragement before you were once again left alone.
However, you weren’t suffocating the way you had been at HYDRA. You asked FRIDAY to project the water by the compound onto the right wall, it felt like you could finally release all the tension in your body.
Before you knew it your eyes slipped closed and you fell asleep.
——
You were awakened again by the sound of the door opening, this time Bruce and your dad walked in with —
“Well this is quite the surprise,” you said smiling.
“How could I not visit my favorite fire-wielding hero,” he spoke and made his way over to bring you into a tight hug.
Bruce hugged you next with a smile and then went over to one of the machines you had unhooked when you first woke up. Your dad gave you a kiss on the forehead and then stood beside the other scientist.
“To what do I owe the pleasure Doctor Strange?” You asked.
“You know me,” He took a seat next to you on the bed, “I love popping in and out but after I heard what happen I made sure your dad kept me in the loop. I know magic stuff keeps me busy but I am still your Godfather,” he told you.
“Mystical Godfather,” Tony threw in, “A totally made up title.”
Strange rolled his eyes and silently mocked your dad, “Still a title.”
“Debatable.”
You laughed lightly at their childishness.
“In all seriousness though, your dad ordered a full workup. He said your flames turned purple and wanted to make sure it didn’t damage your body in a non-tradition sense,” he told you and you nodded.
“So I only get a visit if my life at risk?” You asked overdramatically, throwing a hand to your forehead, “You wound me.”
“Haha, very funny. Now sit up straight while I work my … magic,” he said.
“Booo, your jokes have gotten worse since Christine got pregnant,” However, you sat up straight as he stood.
Strange was quick to begin in a flash of warm light symbols surrounded you, several of them had even went in and out of your body.
After a few minutes, he was finished and the light and symbols faded away. His face was littered with mixed emotions.
“What is it?” You asked, concerned.
“Are you alright?” Strange asked and the question grabbed the attention of Bruce and Tony.
You were confused, “I mean aside from some injuries that might scar I feel fine.”
“Tired? Weak? Foggy mind?” Strange asked.
“Barely, it was bad when I first woke up though. What does that have to do with anything?”
“Part of what a ‘full workup’ is is looking into your soul or aura and it seems like whatever happened when you released those purple flames caused a hole,” Strange explained.
The room was silent. All three men looked at you anxiously as you sat in shock, you weren’t sure what to say.
“So a piece of he is just poof! Gone?” Tony asked, bewildered at the idea.
“It’s a small piece but essentially, yes. There’s a chance it may come back over time but things like this are usually done only in dire situations of stress or emotional turmoil.”
“Well my situation checks all the boxes,” you said quietly to yourself.
It was then that tour father decided to move from his spot beside Bruce and wrap an arm around your shoulders.
“Are you alright?” He asked.
“I think so, this is just a lot to process.”
He nodded and the room fell into silence once again.
“Well on the bright side,” Bruce spoke up, “It seems the damage Hydra did to your powers was temporary. If your readings are correct, you should be at 100% in no time,” he finished with a comforting smile.
“Thanks, Bruce. That actually does make me feel a little better,” you smiled with him.
After that Bruce ran a couple more tests and then the three men were gone again. However, your father did leave you your phone which you were beyond grateful for. You were playing a random game on it when Dr. Evans came to give you a quick check-up and update before leaving.
You had a few more hours of peace before your next visitor decided to show their face, it had to be well after sunset by now.
There were two knocks on your door and you replied for them to come in. You locked your phone and placed it on your bed as he entered and for some reason seeing him made you lose your breath.
“Harley,” you whispered.

Bill Guarnere x fem!reader | Happy Halloween
happy october 31st everyone! for this imagine, i’m mixing two of my favourite things, halloween and this angry (actually soft inside) italian <3 🎃 (this is based on the character portrayed by frank john hughes, all my respect goes to the real bill guarnere and his family, which i by no means mean to disrespect). I wrote this while listening to The Yodeling Ghost by Bring Crosby and The Andrews Sisters, so that could be a nice song to read this to ❣️
Tumblr media
October 31st, 1945
You stopped in the kitchen doorway to a sight that coated your heart with a warmth that even the thickest of blankets couldn’t have generated. You almost didn’t want to enter the room anymore, a smile instantly lightening your features as you allowed your gaze to longer linger on the scene you had just walked in on, coming to a halt as though unwilling to shatter the moment you had just caught.
“Daddy, when are we going to go?” A little girl, no older than ten, with bright eyes fixed upon her dad’s frame, was gently tugging at the man’s shirt.
“Soon, Y/child’s/n, soon. I swear you’re even more impatient that I am, aren’t you?” Bill shook his head but a twinkle of fondness could also easily be discerned in the man’s gaze, which briefly landed upon his daughter’s face before his attention went back to the reason why the child’s patience was wearing out. Indeed, on the table before Bill sat an emptied pumpkin — its innards and light-coloured, almond-like seeds having been set aside in a nearby bowl —, and your husband was making an effort to craftily dig into it with a knife.
“Then we’ll go?” Y/child’s/n asked hopefully, hauling herself on tiptoe to better observe Bill’s endeavour.
“Then we’ll go,” he promised, cutting through the hardened surface of the fruit with quite a bit of struggle to form of a serrated mouth. “I swear you’re even more impatient than me, aren’t you?” he gave her a quick smile as he continued his task. Once he was done with carving such an outline, he could then push the cut-out surface out of the way, leaving a whole in the shape of a grin. ‘There you go,” Bill put the knife down, rubbing his hands together as he took a final look at his creation, then seized the pumpkin and showed it to your daughter. “What do you think?”
“It’s not a very scary pumpkin...,” the little girl commented with a chuckle, though her face showed a pleased expression.
“Not a very scary pumpkin? Let me tell you, I’d be really scared if I came across a pumpkin like that,” Bill retorted, giving the pumpkin a fake suspicious look that made your daughter laugh, and you couldn’t help but join in. This drew your husband’s attention, whom gave you a joyful glance as soon as he noticed your presence in the doorway. “See,” he continued, addressing the girl, “I wouldn’t trust it too much. But thanks to it, I have a feeling somebody’s gonna get some candy tonight.”
“I have the same feeling,” you said fondly, stepping inside the room to join your daughter and husband. Bill got up, leaning on his prosthesis to regain his balance, and gave you an affectionate smile before he washed pumpkin flesh off his hands.
“Mommy, are you going to go treat-or-treating with me and daddy?” Y/child’s/name wrapped her small hands around your leg as she shifted her head backwards to give you an inquisitive look.
“Do you want me to?” you replied tenderly, hearing Bill’s footsteps come closer behind your back, meaning that it would soon be time to grant your daughter’s wish.
“Yes!” she answered cheerfully. “Please come with us!"
“Then count me in,” you stroke your daughter’s back, nodding decidedly. “But before that, you need to put on your costume. Come on, I’ll help you out. I’m sure that daddy will manage not to get too scared of Mr Pumpkin even if we leave him alone with him for a bit,” you gave Bill a playful, loving smile.
“I’ll be on the lookout for anything suspicious from Mr Pumpkin,” Bill answered gravely, and the two of you exchanged a knowing and affectionate glance as you were leaving the kitchen in your daughter’s wake.
*
You were standing at the bottom of the staircase a quarter of an hour later, readjusting Y/child’s/n’s halloweeny cape as the little girl expectantly hopped up and down, struggling to remain immobile.
“Daddy! Look!” As soon as Bill appeared in the doorframe, she spun on her heels to face him, a proud beam shimmering upon her lips. “I’m a vampire!”
“Wow,” holding the pumpkin he had carved earlier, your husband came closer to take a thorough look at the girl’s new disguise. “You’re a terrifying little vampire! Ain’t nobody stands a chance against you.”
“Now I can scare Mr Pumpkin if he tries to scare you,” Y/child’s/n announced confidently, eyeing the jack-o’-lantern as if she was giving it a warning. Such a bravely sweet statement made Bill’s and yours parent’s hearts melt and your husband picked her up, momentarily putting the pumpkin down so he could plant a gentle kiss on her cheek.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you,” he told her with a smile not devoid of emotion as you rubbed his shoulder.
The three of you then put their shoes on, Bill once again getting hold of the jack-o’-lantern, and you took off for the Halloween-night trick-or-treating which your daughter had been awaiting so impatiently. The sun had already almost set, only remnants of fading warm light rippling upon the ginger and brown leaves that rustled on the trees all around, but most of the houses’ porches were alit with lanterns or lights, some of them even placed inside of carved pumpkins used as decorations. You were not the only ones to have gone out on that evening, meeting some your neighbours whom you greeted before your daughter energetically shot the decisive question: trick or treat? Even without approaching the houses, your pumpkin already filled with a few pieces of candy, which your daughter counted before urging you to go up to the first front door. Her father lifted her up so she could ring the doorbell by herself, and you waited for your neighbours to show up, Bill carrying your pumpkin-container while you were in charge of other sweets that you could give away for other trick-or-treaters.
“Good evening,” you greeted the woman who opened the door, a sheepish smile slipping onto your lips as your daughter joyfully exclaimed: trick or treat, even forgetting to say hello first.
“Well, look at you,” the woman laughed kindly, visibly finding the child’s enthusiasm endearing. “Good evening. I’ll see what I can do for you.” She reappeared a few moments later, carrying a piece of chocolate candy that she put into the pumpkin that Y/child’s/n insisted on taking from Bill. “There you go.”
“Thank you very much, Ma’am,” your daughter replied, this time not giving politeness a miss, which got her another smile from the woman.
“Thank you, we’re sorry for the trouble,” Bill apologised, though giving your daughter a fond glance as he did so.
“It’s nothing, I’m glad I won’t be tricked by this very frightening vampire,” the woman shook her head breezily, but your daughter’s face shone with pride at the fact that your neighbour had got her costume right, and found her scary.
After warmly wishing the woman a good evening, you set toward your next destination. To make your daughter content, you decided to try your luck at all the houses bordering your street, and thankfully got a positive response from every one of their inhabitants — to give away candy was one of Halloween night’s customs, so everybody played along in a joyous atmosphere, especially since your daughter managed to remain polite in spite of her being giddy with excitement. You and Bill couldn’t have been prouder, congratulating the girl on her behaviour and promising her that she would get to taste some of the candy you had collected when you would come home.
Your little expedition came to an end around an hour later, tiredness starting to weigh upon Y/child’s/n as you left the front yard of the last house you had visited. Her eyelids fluttering shut while you were heading back home, Bill ended up picking her up, handing you the jack-o’-lantern, and cradling her in his arms so she could rest peacefully. Although she awoke when your husband and you took her up the stairs leading to her room, then helping your daughter undress and get into bed, her misty state of mind made the drowsy little girl forget all about candy and she quickly cuddled up to her stuffed animal, letting you tuck her in and tenderly kiss her goodnight. You softly closed the door, your daughter already fast asleep, and found yourself alone with Bill.
The two of you quietly went back downstairs, careful not to make any loud noises lest you disturbed Y/child’s/n’s slumber, and in a few minutes you were inside the living room, the door shut behind you. Warmth was flooding the room, the fireplace still ablaze with remnants of fluttering flames and the wood inside crackling cosily, which made an appeased sigh part your lips. You were home.
“Y/child’s/nickname fell asleep quickly tonight,” Bill commented, taking your hand in his. “That was a really good Halloween celebration.”
“But it’s not over yet,” you had had an idea, a smile now spreading upon your face as you let go of your husband’s hand. You came up to the radio stationed near the fireplace, turning it on, and after a few seconds of uncertain hissing and murmuring from the frequency modulation, music spilled from the machine, its jazzy notes instantly swirling in the air and engulfing you and Bill in their rhythm, smooth and ample like velvet to the ears. Matching the date, you realised that it was Halloween-themed after catching some of the lyrics.
“There,” you grinned, turning back around to meet Bill’s inquisitive gaze. Moving along to the song, you came back to him, putting your arms over the man’s shoulders. “Now, I’ve got you all for myself,” you murmured with longing playfulness, your mouth still curved.
“I’m all yours, darling,” your husband’s dark eyes anchored in yours, he slid his arms around your back, his body drifting along the shifting of yours. He had never told you out loud, but dancing with you had always felt incredibly special to him; in spite of losing his leg, it made him feel whole, like he could do anything. Like he was still himself — and he was. He was incredibly strong, and you would forever be proud of him.
As you danced, Bill kissed you slowly, savouring every contact that you shared, before pulling away, which allowed you to look into his face. Waltzing shadows from the fireplace were grazing his skin, skin which you had left so many breathless kisses on, and the amber of his iris appeared lighter in the dimly-lit living room, reflecting the glistening of embers in the fireplace. You had feared losing him so intensely, back when you went through the war together, and now he was standing there in front of you, so alive. And even though the memories of what happened after you had learnt about Bill’s injury still sometimes cut through you like a blade — sobbing uncontrollably in Cpt. Winters’s foxhole, Cpt. Nixon had even offered you his flask of alcohol as Richard had tried to console you best he could —, at least your pain had been alleviated by the certainty that he had made it. You had come home to him, and he had been there.
But on that merry Halloween evening, nothing could have clouded the sheer and simple happiness of dancing with your husband to a spooky tune. You hands in his, you moved along to the music, your merry state of mind translating into the suavity with which your limbs moved in synch; Bill had even forgotten about his prosthetic, feeling like every move was effortless with you. Though being the night of horror, for the two of you that 31st of October was marked with blissfulness that would have made even the scariest of creatures meek. And perhaps, at that very moment, some ghost was watching you from the corner of the room, daydreaming about a long-lost love that it had suddenly set its mind to find again.

What the Hair ♡ Varian Imagine
Requested: noootttt exactllyyy, but @technolilly gave me the idea. Darling, if you're reading this, let me know what you think!!! 😉😁
Warnings: lovestruck Varian😍
Summary: basically the first episode of the Tangled series, but I weaved the reader in and tweaked a couple things!
♡♡♡
Your life was incredibly complicated.
Like seriously, if someone were to give out an award for Most Complicated Life, you would win the title, hands-down.
You were Y/n L/n, daughter of the infamous L/ns, or, as they are better known among the criminals as, the Kingdom Snatchers. Not a very creative name, but then again, their title was given to them by the puny-minded brains of burglars, thieves, and murderers. Your parents were villains who would weave their way into a perfect kingdom with the perfect Queen and King, and take over their kingdom before they reached dessert. They would murder the real Queens and Kings, imprison the citizens, and then leave the kingdom in ashes. They were driven to practical insanity from their corrupted, power-loving minds and became known and feared in all of the lands. Wanted posters littered the forests, offering generous amounts for their capture. But of course, anyone who tried to get close to them ended up dead.
And of course, after they had you, they tried to teach you their ways to become a Kingdom Snatcher so you could take over once they got old and withered. You were supposed to become a vicious, kniving, power hungry, and insane mass murderer/dictator/whatever the hell you want to call it.
There was only one problem.
You didn't want to be the bad guy.
Of course, your parents were furious. If you weren't willing to become an evil thief like them, then of what use were you to them? To have the ability to watch you grow up, living a happy and healthy life, making them proud that their daughter was able to find her own source of happiness in life? Ha! Your parents were killers! If you didn't want to join them, they might as well kill you and keep trying until one of their kids decided they loved the evil life.
And so, you did the only thing you really could do.
You ran away. You were only 7, hardly a child.
And as time went on, you learned how to fend for yourself against the treacherous ways of the world. You were alone for most of your life. And after a while, you began to fear that it might just stay that way. Until you met a certain blonde princess with seven feet of hair, and everything changed.
♡♡♡
It was a bright, shiny morning; a morning that Rapunzel would fall in love with. You were out looking for the certain blonde herself, and lucky you to have found her sitting next to the fountain with her favorite Lady in Waiting.
“I was thinking about your hair,” Cassandra said as you walked up to them, pressing your hands on Rapunzel’s shoulders. She gave you her signature bright grin and motioned for you to join them. “Maybe we can find a way to get some answers discreetly, just us.”
“Ooh, mischievous,” you giggled. “I like it.”
Rapunzel nodded and leaned her head on your shoulder. “I mean, I still think you’re being a bit unfair about the Eugene thing, but what do you have in mind?”
Cassandra’s features grew a little more excited as she used hand gestures. “Well, I’ve heard stories about this guy named Varian. Apparently, he’s some kind of wizard.”
Your eyes raised slightly at the sound of his name. Varian... where had you heard of him before? Probably from some of the little off-their-rocker villagers. Rapunzel seemed pretty excited too as she clapped her hands together like a giddy child. “Wow! A real wizard? Like with a pointy hat and casting spells and stuff?”
You couldn’t help but snort. “Those only exist in fairy tales. My money says he’s selling something. Probably laxatives.”
Cassandra did her best to hide her laugh, but was still smiling as she continued. “No, girls we have to be careful. Very little is known about him and what is isn’t that good. He’s dangerous.”
“But if we want answers, he’s our best bet right?” Cass nodded.
“Looks like we have a wizard to visit!”
♡♡♡
It didn’t take long to make it to Varian’s house, which was in Old Corona. The house looked simple enough, had it not been for the dark and foreboding feeling that apparently only existed in Rapunzel’s brain as the three of you approached the door. It was actually a quaint little thing, simple colors, no broken boards or cobwebs, and was decently larger than the other houses you had passed by.
“It looks nice,” Rapunzel spoke nervously. “In an I-wish-I-said-goodbye-to-my-loved-ones-before-I-left sort of way.”
Cassandra pushed open the door just before you could warn them about the importance of knocking and you all proceeded into the dimly lit house. The shadows seemed to crawl towards you as you help up the caboose of the line, Cass leading the way through the halls of the house until you finally pushed through a door surrounded by some very suspicious looking fog.
“Geez, I guess those laxatives must really be working,” you joked as you propelled yourself through the cool mist. It passed through the soft fabric of your pants and your combat boots as Cassandra pushed open the door revealing yet another dimly-lit room covered in fog. Who was this guy? Just as you were about to speak, Cassandra’s boot made contact with some sort of string on the ground, triggering a myriad of complicated reactions that ultimately ended up with some sort of magenta ball being launched at your feet. You let out a shriek as it exploded into a goopy substance, gluing your feet to the ground. The three of you struggled to get yourselves free.
“A booby trap? Really?” Rapunzel grunted.
“Everything’s going to be fine, Raps, we just need to-” Suddenly a very scary, very robotic looking figure emerged from the shadows. Your heart began to pound faster inside your vest-covered chest as your eyes widened in terror.
“W-who... is...that?” You could barely muster as the figure got closer. Two, electric yellow orbs were all that you could see as Rapunzel held an arm out protectively in front of you.
“What do you want?” The voice boomed throughout the halls, striking terror into your heart. Your mouth fell open as you stared, slight PTSD forming from all of the moments you spent witnessing your parents torture innocent people.
“U-um, hi, sir, I really hate to bother you, but I was just wondering if I could get your help about my hair,” Rapunzel did her best to hide her stutter. “Because you’re such a magic exper-”
“Magic?” The metal laxative man robotically asked. “I do not work with magic!” He suddenly lifted the helmet off of his head to reveal someone a hell of a lot less intimidating and, dare you say, kind of... insanely cute. “I mean, technically, it’s alchemy but...” He drawled off the moment he laid his adorable blue orbs on you. It was almost as if though he had gotten lost in a trance as his eyes looked over every inch of you before finally resting on your face once again, a twinkle in his eyes that, the more you looked at it, reminded you of the way Eugene looked at Rapunzel.
A little butterfly flew around in your stomach.
“Um, hate to interrupt, but um what is this stuff?” Rapunzel awkwardly chuckled, breaking whatever just happened between you and this supposed “Varian.” Your cheeks held a tinge of pink to them as he quickly regained his composure, a bit of a blush to his own as well.
“Oh! Um, this is a chemical compound of my own design. We have a little bit of a beautiful- I MEAN critter problem,” he chuckled, glancing at you as he pulled out the “neutralizing particle” and sprinkled it over all of your guys’s feet. You watched with an amazed expression as the compound instantly dissipated before your eyes. Varian smirked slightly at your reaction.
“I am so, so sorry, Your Highness.” He bowed to Rapunzel.
“Your Highness?” Rapunzel asked in confusion. “You know who I am?”
“How could I not? Look at your hair!” He suddenly realized the error in his exaggeration and quickly apologized. God, how could one person contain to much adorableness?
...Wait, what?
“Rapunzel is just fine,” Raps smiled at him. “And this is Cassandra, and Y/n.” Cass gave him a firm nod and you offered him a polite smile. His eyes lingered on you for a moment longer.
“Y/n... okay! Anyway, so fantastical stories about your hair have spread throughout Corona. Most people think that it’s magic, but as you’ve probably learned by now, I don’t believe that.” You couldn’t help but smile at his boldness, the pride that he took in his work. He seemed to have something that you only wished you could have: pride.
“Listen kid, we’re kind of in a hurry here, but let’s just get one thing straight here. Everything that happens here stays here, you got-”
“I don’t think we need to threaten him, Cass,” you quickly removed her hand from Varian’s shirt and gave her a reassuring smile. “He seems pretty harmless. Right?”
He quickly nodded his head, like a love struck puppy as he stared at you. After figuring out that Rapunzel’s hair no longer held its fantastical healing properties, Varian stuck her in a machine that he apparently made himself to determine the entire chemical makeup of any substance.
“Woah,” you breathed as you stared at the great machine. “This is... amazing, you built this yourself?”
“Y-You think so?” Varian giggled, a bright crimson tinting his cheeks as he scratched the back of his neck. “Yeah, I did.”
“It’s incredible.”
“You’re incredible.”
“What?”
“What?” You were both staring at each other with wide eyes until you finally started giggling.
“You’re funny,” you chuckled, shaking your head slightly and turning back to watch as the machine tried taking an axe to her hair. Little did you know that he was still staring at you the entire time. Time seemed to practically fly by as Eugene came in and then a bunch of Varian’s underground machines suddenly became radioactive or something. Cass and you went out to find him and before you knew it, Old Corona was in near ashes.
You slowly approached Varian after his father had talked to him, and by the looks of it, it hadn’t gone well. You stopped when you were just behind him, trying to debate whether or not you should put your hand on his shoulder.
“Varian...” You began, but stopped, trying to form the right words in your brain. He turned to look at you and instantly became flustered once again.
“Y/n, I am so, so sorry for this, I swear that I-”
“It’s okay, Varian,” you assured him, flashing him a smile and tucking a stray lock of your hair behind your ear. “I mess up too. But that doesn’t mean that we’re any less amazing.”
A small smile grew onto his lips at your words and he let out a soft chuckle. A short, comfortable silence fell between you two as you stared into one another’s eyes until he broke it. “Hey... I know we just met, but would you want to... umm... hang out sometime?”
“I’d love that,” You couldn’t help but grin.

Worth more than some perceive (Victorian!Todoroki X F!Reader) Part 2!
Tumblr media
Part 1 Here!      Part 3 Here!
~Even when you currently had so much work on your hands, you still found yourself excited when you got to work on Shoto Todoroki's luxurious suit.
~Not only because you were always excited when you got to do a masterpiece and see the amazed or impressed look on the customer’s face, but also because this time the customer, Shoto Todoroki, was so cooperative and helpful when you asked him your usual questions.
~The icing on the cake was the fact that he respected you. He thought of you as a person and not some scum who was below him. Well, you technically were below him if you looked at both of your social statuses. But he didn't really act like all the other noblemen that visited your shop, which already made him more likable.
~Unfortunately excitement wasn't the only thing you felt during the day. Exhaustion was another thing you felt pretty often.
~A typical morning for you and your brother was simple. You both would wake up early, put on your work attire, and then eat breakfast while you discussed the upcoming day. What garments you had to finish before the day was over or if you had any appointments booked.
~You and William were tired as ever as you both worked late last night, as you taught him how to perfect his invisible sewing stitch on tricky seams. But you enjoyed your cup of tea and crumpets with a smile nonetheless.
~You finished your breakfast and quickly swept the boutique's floor and did some last-minute cleaning of the clothing racks and fluffing up the pillows at the sitting area. Then you were finally ready to open up the boutique.
~You opened the double doors and unlocked them for the customers. Again you took the broom to sweep off any rocks or dust that might've been on the stairs. When you were satisfied, you turned back to go back into the boutique, but something hanging from the railing caught your attention.
~From the railing, a single white rose hung on a piece of string with a tiny card also hanging from the rose. You eyed the flower, confused. You walked over and untied the string from the railing and inspected the rose more closely. The stem didn't have a single thorn and the flower petals were flawless. There wasn't a single dead or a dried petal.
~Meaning it hasn't been awfully long since it was tied to the railing. You looked out at the street as if you would find the person who tied it there but you saw no one who stood out. You retreated back into the boutique and flipped the 'closed' sign over to 'open'.
~"The boutique is open." You called out to your brother who was cleaning up some papers at his desk, keeping the important papers while trashing the expired ones.
~"Was it busy outside?" He asked while he inspected some certain papers.
~"Not yet, but I found a rose tied to the railing." You said and he turned around eyebrows raised.
~"a Rose? From who?" He asked as he walked to stand in front of you. Oh, right. The card!
~"Oh, it's...." You trailed off as you looked at the card. "-To the beautiful maiden." You read the card. So it was for you? William took the card in his own fingers and read it over himself.
~"Well this is fairly interesting." He commented in thought.
~"It doesn't say who it's from." You stated the obvious, reading the card over again. "Could someone have mistaken the address?" You wondered out loud. Even if the person mistook the address, you felt your cheeks turn a shade of pink at the thought that for the first time in your life you received a rose as a gift.
~"Not sure, there are other people living here in their businesses just like we are. But the chance of a mix up with the address is pretty low." William noted and you nodded along.
~"Perhaps someone wanted to thank me with a gift for the dress or the suit I made for them." You wondered as you still gazed at the flower.
~"If that's the case then they must've been very grateful for your work." You nodded in agreement. Then a sudden idea came into your mind.
~"I'm going to put this in the boutique's sitting area for the customers to see." You announced as you bundled up your dress to run upstairs and look for a vase or something to put the rose in. You found a thin green vase that unfortunately had a small crack at the top, but you didn't mind. You filled it with water and placed the rose in and fortunately, the vase held the water in.
~You placed the vase on the side table next to the large mirror and rotated it so that the crack wasn't visible from the other directions. It looked very beautiful and you stood there for a moment in thought. For some reason, the rose reminded you of Shoto's snow-white hair. The pure white flower seemed to reflect light like his hair, and it was mesmerizing to you.
~The thought of the said male leads you to think about his suit that he ordered. You have almost finished with sewing the jacket base and basically, you only needed to add the details and accessories, which was a lot of work.
~Then a brilliant idea hit you. "Yes!" You exclaimed and ran into the backroom to finally start working.
~~~
~That one day didn't remain as the only day you would get a flower because strangely, the roses kept on appearing.
~For the past week you've gotten two more white roses with the same written card and you or William found them hanging from the railing on a string when you went to open the boutique in the morning.
~The first rose was a very sweet surprise in your mind, not that you didn't appreciate the other roses but once you saw the third rose hanging on the railing after a week had passed from when you found the first one, you started to become a tad bit wary of their meaning.
~Who would put them there? It was pretty obvious that it was the same person every time, but who? Did the person have a lover next door to you and William and just keeps on messing up the address? Because you were now becoming more and more convinced that that was the case.
~And you didn't really have a way to find out since you really don't feel like waking up in the middle of the night and wait for the mystery person to tie the rose to the railing nor did you want to knock on your neighbor's door to ask if the roses were for them...
~In the end, you came to the result that no matter what you would do, it's not gonna be worth doing it. You don't feel like your life is in danger and as long as it stays that way, you can sleep without worry.
~This morning you found no rose and you didn't really think much of it, but you did wonder if there would be one tomorrow. You and William were busy with work as you both pumped the sewing machine pedal on your respective contraptions over and over while you kept a focused eye on the needle as it pierced the fabric.
~The productive moment was interrupted as the boutique's front doorbell singled, indicating that a customer has stepped into the shop.
~"Is that your appointment?" William questioned.
~"If it is, they are 10 minutes early." You replied as you finished sewing the last ruffle and got up to dust off your dress and all and all make yourself look more presentable. You walked out to the front desk and immediately a smile made its way on your face as you recognized the people who came in.
~"Good morning Mr. Todoroki, and good morning to you too Sir." You greeted Shoto and his butler with a bright smile. His butler gave you a small bow and Shoto slightly smiled as he too greeted you while holding a big box in his hands.
~"Good morning, I hope you've been doing well." He too bowed his head slightly. He truly was nice. "I also brought the hat that I mentioned." He gestured to the box in his hold.
~"I have, thank you for asking." You replied. "You can place the box on the counter, I'm going to go and retrieve your suit, excuse me for a moment." You walked into the back room to get the suit. As you walked back out a few minutes later with a pile of clothing in your arms, you noticed Shoto eyeing the white rose that sat on the side table.
~"Pretty isn't it? I would've had two more but they died pretty quickly since I don't own any flower food." You handed him the pants, undershirt, and fully finished vest, to which you added a gold-colored chain that hung stylishly from one of the buttons to the little pocket at the front for his watch.
~"When did you decide to get flowers? I haven't seen any here before." He inquired as he stepped behind the folding screen. For the most part, it sounded like his usual way of speaking, but something about his question almost sounded like he was amused for some reason. You quickly discarded the thought as not important.
~"It's quite an interesting story actually if you care to listen." You laughed to yourself, he hummed for you to continue. "I didn't buy the flowers, I actually found them tied with a string to the front door railing." You explained as you eyed the still snow-white rose.
~"How peculiar." He commented stepping from behind the folding screen while adjusting his shirt sleeves. "Do you know who could've placed them there?" he inquired again. You shook your head.
~"I have no clue." You admitted and again you started to tug on his clothing and brush any stray hairs off. Shoto eyed as you did the same thing as last time he visited, you caught his stare, and this time around you realized what you were doing. Blushing, you immediately retreated your hands from his body.
~"I apologize! I didn't realize what I was doing." You looked away from him. He lightly waved his hands in front of him, trying to reassure you.
~"You didn't do anything wrong, I don't mind you helping me fix my clothing."
~"Sorry, It has become a habit as a tailor." You apologized again.
~"I assure you it's alright." You nodded to him and to quickly changed the topic, you retrieved the blue jacket that was going to be the centerpiece of his whole outfit.
~"Would you like to try on the jacket?" You questioned.
~"Yes, please." You nodded and helped him put on the jacket. Once it was on you were suddenly giddy as a little girl. The jacket hugged his shoulders perfectly and the smooth royal blue suited him wonderfully. The back of the jacket reached the bend of his knees while the front was shorter, Shoto looked like a prince from a fairytale.
~"The jacket is amazing. I have never worn anything like it before." He admired himself. Almost immediately he started to inspect the left side of his chest and shoulder.
~The jacket didn't have pretty much any decorations, so the painted on pattern stood out to him a lot. He turned to look at the mirror and he could distinguish a pattern similar to a rose being painted on his chest. The curves and twists were expertly drawn so that he had to do a double-take on how it was drawn so clearly on fabric.
~He traced the gold line with his fingers in admiration. You clearly took your time at painting this rose, which only made him more fascinated.
~"How do you like it? The roses actually gave me the inspiration to add them to your jacket, the symbol of honor, passion, and many more. Even if I do say so myself, I think the rose is a nice little touch, don't you think?" You asked, a bit unsure and afraid if he liked it or not. If he didn't then it would be an EXPENSIVE mistake since you painted the pattern on. Maybe you got too excited?
~"I like it." The sentence caught you off guard.
~"You do?" You now felt more confident to step closer to him. He smiled and looked at you.
~"I do, I like it a lot actually. The pattern looks marvelous." He again admired the detail and you let yourself sigh in relief that Shoto ended up liking your work.
~"Well, I'm glad that you like it. For a minute there I thought I would have to re-do the whole jacket." You chuckled while lightly tapping your fingers over your heart as you tried to calm down your beating heart.
~"Don't think so lowly of your abilities. Your boutique does have a reputation for selling high quality and personalized garments. Someone would be a fool to think otherwise." He now fully turned towards you.
~"We do, but no matter how good of a reputation we have, it still makes me a bit nervous every time I get an order for a special gown or a suit because most customers don't expect me to do as well as my brother." Your gaze was downcast as the thought of Shoto's father came into mind. "Most people are so used to male tailors, as you probably already know." You walked to the front desk and took your notepad to start writing in it.
~"In my mind, that shouldn't matter."
~"Hm?" You turned around to listen properly.
~"One's abilities should only be judged by the result, not by stereotypes or looks." He expressed. As a businessman himself, Shoto knew how hard it was for anyone to make a difference in a big city. He also knew how only men ran the big-shot businesses, while women were most often only shrugged off as incapable of doing the same job.
~It didn't sit well with him. That people assume someone is better than the other based on looks, race, religion, gender and not to forget wealth and family name. He has met many people with huge amounts of potential that came from various backrounds, but they didn't get to show it because of how others saw them.
~Victorian age really wasn't any better under all the brilliant inventions and frilly ball gowns.
~"Well, there's little to nothing I could do about it. I can't change how others think, I can only prove to them in the end that I can do what they thought I can't." You smiled at him sweetly with a hint of tiredness, for how many times you've told that to William or yourself.
 ~Shoto went to say something but you managed to speak first. "It doesn't matter. Let's drop the subject and discuss about your hat." You obviously didn't want to talk about the matter further, so he dropped it there and agreed with your statement.
~While Shoto went to change out of his current outfit, you carefully opened the box on the counter and with delicate fingers, you fished the clean black tophat out. You only need to inspect it for a minute when inspiration comes to you as it always did.
~~~~
~”Why didn’t you go? If someone would’ve offered to take me to the theater to watch, The Abstract Thief, I would’ve said yes in a heartbeat.” You inquired astounded, as you worked on Shotos hat in the boutique’s sitting area.
~The said man was seated next to you as you comfortably talked about your daily lives. The current topic that you two were discussing was how Shoto had been asked by his brother and sister to go and watch the latest and a pretty popular play, The Abstract Thief.
~Stangely you and Shoto spend a lot of time together nowadays. You asked him about it and he admitted that he would like to spend as much time outside of his home as he could, as he did not enjoy being around his father.
~You understood his explanation and didn’t question him after that. From there, you two started talking a lot about various topics while you worked at the same time. The boutique was mostly empty most of the times he was visiting, so it wasn’t a problem for you to sew a bow or organize the shelves while talking.
~You enjoyed Shotos company, and you could tell he did too enjoy yours.
~”I don't really care for plays. Most of the time, massive sections and plots of the book are cut off when made into a play. I think it’s more enjoyable when the whole story is being told rather than just the main plot.” He explained as he spared a look at your hands and the hat that you were oh so delicately working on.
~You have painted a rose with gold paint on the side of the hat, much like how you did his jacket, and now you were just adding some finishing touches to it.
~”I suppose you’re right, but it still was a chance for you to spend time with your family.” You reminded him. You haven’t heard him talk about his siblings much, but you presumed he does care for them a lot.
~”I don’t see how that would be any fun. You can not talk during the performance.” You wanted to almost slap your forehead. The more time you spend with Shoto, the more you’ve come to realize that sometimes he isn’t really that good at picking up social cues.
~”It’s the thought that’s important.” You expressed. “They just want to spend time with you. Even if you can’t talk, it’s nice that you’re there with them.”
~He held his chin in thought. “I have never thought about it that way.” He admitted.
~”Honestly…” You breathed out. You placed the last detail on the hat and lifted up the finished product, inspecting it with sharp eyes. You wanted it to be perfect.
~”It’s finished, do you like it?” You offered the hat to him and he took it from your hands looking over the paint job himself, nodding in approval.
~”Yes, I like it.”
~”Okay, then that means your whole suit is now finished.” You stood up from the couch and started to clean up all your tools from the side table and brought them to the backroom before emerging back out along with his suit.
~”I’ll just pack these up for you really quick.” You said as you pulled out two boxes and white tissue paper to neatly pack the clothes and the hat in so they would make it home safely. You placed the lids on each box and tied them with a green ribbon to top it off.
~You pushed the boxes forward announcing how much money Shoto needed to pay. Shotos butler, whose existence you always somehow forget, took the boxes while Shoto paid the rest 50% of the suit since the first 50 was paid right in the beginning.
~”Thank you for coming, I hope to see you again.” You said your usual line naturally, and Shoto let a small smile tug at the corners of his lips as he turned to leave.
~”That time will arrive sooner than you might think.” You blinked at him in confusion.
~”What do you mean?” You questioned curiously.
~”I’d like to ask you for another commission.” He answered.
~”Wow, have I suddenly become your favorite tailor?” You have no idea why or where you pulled that joke from, but right after you said it Shoto immediately answered back.
~”Yes, actually.” Ok, you weren’t expecting that response…
~”Oh, r-really? Thank you!” You said in shock but also in appreciation.
~”Let’s discuss it on another day. I will come and stop by.” He promised and lightly waved his hand in a goodbye.
~”See you then!” You called to him along with your own wave goodbye, before he finally exited the boutique. You heaved out a sigh, still in a slight haze from his compliment as you walked into the backroom to see William sitting at his desk, sewing buttons to a vest.
~”How did it go? Did you have fun chatting away with him?” William asked with a teasing tone as he kept on working.
~”Oh hush! You know it’s nothing like that, I just enjoy talking to him since I rarely get to talk to other people other than you.” You said as you went over to your desk to go look over your planner.
~”Whatever you say, sister.” He said in the same tone, but you didn’t comment on it. Shoto would surely never think of you that way.
~You slightly saddened at the fact and your chest ached a little, but then you remembered the white roses that to this day you have been receiving, still not knowing the identity of the person leaving them there. You glanced over to the main side and eyed the new white roses that sat in the cracked vase.
~But someone might...

Are You Worthy?
Part 2 of Getting Ready
Disclaimer: Some of the events may be out of order or removed but it’s for the purpose of the story
Warnings: mentions of alcohol. any screw ups in spelling or grammar.
I just found out that I screwed up the timeline... but this is fanfcition... so just please ignore that huge plot hole that i’ve just created.
Loosely edited. I will fully check over it this week, my loves.
Sorry about the end. It’s midnight and i’m too tired to write a whole ass scene.
Enjoy!
The drive to the compound was a little over twenty minutes, the late night traffic of Brooklyn lightly flooding the roads. Sarah was in the back seat, strapped in her car seat joyously maundering about making new friends tonight. That child was a social butterfly, never really understanding the stranger-danger rule, one you and Steve often tried to implement into her impressionable mind. Steve looked into the rearview mirror, shooting the mini chatty cathy a large smile.
Arriving at the event, ponds of cars littered the street, valet attendants frantically rushing around to the lineup of many pretentious cars. Once a valet had taken your car, Steve stepped out, first helping you from the passenger seat and then unbuckling Sarah. All three Rogers casually strolled into the multi-level tower, its height unfathomable. Heading to the back elevators, which weren’t crowded, for you all knew the compound layout better than most of the guests. Sarah’s hands held your’s and Steve’s as she was sandwiched between the two of you, yet happily swinging her parents’ hands with her own.
Sam immediately greeted you, Steve and Sarah, quickly inviting you all over for a friendly game of pool with some older gentlemen. Of course, since Sarah was only three, she couldn't play pool and instead joyously watched as the billiard balls fell into the pockets, only piquing her interest as she wondered where the pockets led to. You and Steve decided to share one cue stick, each shooting while the other held Sarah, who babbled to the parent holding her at that time.
About halfway through the game, Steve had noticed you were shivering just a smidge. He swiftly laid the cue stick against the pool table as it wasn't his turn anyway. Taking off the leather jacket, Steve wrapped it around your shoulders, prompting you to turn your attention and body back towards the pool table and him.
“You scared me, Rogers.” You jocosely squinted at the man then handing Sarah over so you could properly wear the oversized leather jacket. The pleasant and familiar cologne wrapped around your body as if it were a warm and securing hug. By the time you had finished your mini conversation with Steve it was your turn to play pool, Sarah preciously becoming your cheerleader.
Steve had ventured off with Sam while you and Sarah had ended up with Tony, Thor and Maria, painfully listening to Rhodey’s recollection of his time as the War Machine.
“Well, you know the suit can take the weight. So I take the tank, fly it right up to the General’s Palace, drop it at his feet, and I’m like BOOM, you looking for this?”
Tony and Thor just looked at Rhodey with an unamused look while Sarah giggled at the story, not really understanding but laughing at the funny voice he had used. Reiterating himself, Rhodey repeated the story in hopes of getting a better reaction from his crowd.
“Boom. Are you looking- why do I even talk to you guys? Everywhere else that story kills.”
The disappointed man turns to face you, his hand up, expecting a high five. You just look at him before laughing and shaking your head, while Sarah glady gives Rhodey her hand in place of yours.
“Well that's the whole story?”
Rhodey turned back to Thor with a mirthless expression.
“Yes, that’s the War Machine story.”
Thor turned to Tony, then back to Rhodey, laughing deeply and then responding with what you had assumed was sarcasm.
“Oh it’s very good then. It’s impressive!”
“Quality save.”
Amused at Thor’s attempt, Rhodey then changed the subject, the conversation moving faster than Steve could run.
“Gentlemen, where are the ladies?”
Maria’s simple question turned into a compliment battle between Tony and Thor.
Sarah continued to giggle and out stretched her arms to the man beside you, a signal to hold her. Stopping your own laughter, you hand Sarah over to Rhodey who was just as giddy as the little girl in his arms.
“Go find your hubby!” Rhodey nudged you in the shoulder and you gave him and Sarah a quick hug before going your separate ways. You shot the two gloating men with a look of mock disappointment, bidding Maria a “good luck”, and then leaving at Rhodey’s wishes.
“What happened to him?” You walked to stand beside Steve, watching as an older gentleman, drunkenly passed out, was being carried by two younger men.
“This.” Steve brought the glass to your lips, a sour look tainting your face after just a small sip.
“My god, what is that?! It takes like fire!” A hearty chuckle left Steve as he pointed to Thor who was holding a small flask and doing shots with a group of men.
Sarah was still with Tony, allowing you and Steve to go enjoy some time with each other. The two of you just stood on the balcony, your arms linked together as the stars brightly painted the sky. It had been a while since you and Steve had such a heartfelt conversation, both recalling old memories. Not only was the man linked beside you, your husband, but also your best friend. You and Steve have always shared everything with the other, whether it be tears or laughter. This man was literally the epitome of your everything.
“Do you remember when you listened to a few of my vinyls for weeks just so you could learn the words?”
Steve’s lips were on your head as he talked, leaving gentle kisses.
A chuckle left your mouth at the adorable yet embarrassing memory.
It was in the beginning of your relationship when you and Steve were just months into a relationship. Steve had always let you choose the music. He even learned how to use cd’s in a boombox, quite the change from vinyls and a record player. Well, one day, Steve had left for a mission, one you were not needed for. During the day that he was gone, you spent hours trying to figure out how to use his record player. When you finally did, that day all you listened to were the vinyls, engraving every word into your mind.
“I couldn’t figure out how to play the vinyls.” A small pout wiggled onto your lips, one Steve kissed away then pulled from your face chuckling breathily.
“Don’t laugh at your wife’s pain!”
“I’m not trying to! You are just so damn adorable. I see where Sarah gets it from.”
An hour later, you and Steve had parted ways and you were currently strolling over to the bar, a martini in mind, but when your daughter came bounding at you, hugging your leg, your plans for a drink changed.
“Hi, Mommy!” Unlatching the girl from your leg, you leaned down to pick her up, seeing Tony now staring at you with a look of relief. Sarah must’ve run from him at the sight of her mother.
You waved Tony away, bidding him back to his conversation.
“What are you doing, Mommy?”
“I was just about to get a drink.”
“Ohhh can I have one?”
After her request, you explained to her that some drinks were for adults. Martini long forgotten, you instead went to order a shirley temple to share with Sarah. At first she was confused since you had just explained that the drinks from the bar were for adults, but then you further told her some drinks were okay. Long story short, Sarah had just learned that she must ask you or Steve since you would both know what to order her.
Now done with the most confusing lesson you’ve ever taught Sarah, you continued your walk to the bar.
Natasha was behind the counter, currently pouring a drink for herself while she and Bruce returned some playful chatter. A few minutes passed and their conversation ended. Smirking, Nat left the flustered man with your husband, who had just shown up at the end of the counter for a beer himself.
“It’s nice.”
Bruce turned to look at Steve, genuinely confused, partly to Steve’s statement and then Natasha's flirting.
“You and Romanoff.”
Once all the pieces finally clicked in the clueless man’s head, he instantly denied the claims thrown his way.
Deciding to finally join the conversation, you walked up beside Steve, who was happily surprised at your appearance, with Sarah on your hip.
“Yeah, you both are adorable!”
Poor Bruce was a ball of nerves not even able to form the words to repudiate your comment.
“It’s okay, nobody’s breaking any bylaws.”
Sarah’s attention had now shifted from the mature conversation and to Thor who was a few feet away. The man was making funny faces at her, snickers ensuing. Tapping your shoulder politely, she then pointed to Thor and you set her down, watching her run away, never once peeling away your eyes until she made it into the safe hold of the man, who shot a thumbs up allowing you to return to Steve and Bruce’s conversation.
“It’s just that she’s not the most… open person in the world, but with you she seems very relaxed.”
“Agreed. You two are practically like Steve and I!”
“No, Natasha, she just likes to flirt.”
“I’ve seen her flirt. Up close. And this ain’t that.” Your husband reached for a beer, then holding his arm out for you.
“Look, as maybe the world’s leading authority on waiting too long. Don’t. You both deserve a win.”
Steve gave Bruce a heartening smile, waiting as you unlatched your arm from his. You placed a friendly peck on the man’s cheek before giving him some words of reassurance.
“Don’t underestimate your worth.” Bruce then gave you both a small meek smile, returning to his drink.
“What do you mean up close!” You and Steve were already long gone yet still able to hear Bruce’s cry of befuddlement to which your husband smirked, causing you to scoldingly slap him on the chest.
“You're absolutely terrible, Grant.”
As expected, Steve just laughed at your reprimand. Whenever you scolded him, it usually involved his middle name being crammed somewhere into your lengthy chide. Like a disciplined child, he’d listen pitifully. Most of the time you’d chastise him for his reckless nature, that scared you to death. Then he’d apologize a thousand times while planting kisses all over your face, making you giggle endlessly, certainly failing at keeping up the irritated facade.
“Yet, you love me, doll.” Steve had somehow dragged you to the dance floor, pulling your flush to him as the song began. You brought your arms to his neck, noses touching as he proudly smiled down on you, slightly tightening his grip on your waist. The two of you swayed slowly, your lips connected softly.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Once the song had finished it was replaced with an upbeat line dance to which you and Steve briskly rushed off the floor being met with Sarah who sat at a table with Natasha, cheering at you and Steve.
“Mommy, Daddy! That was omazing!”
“Well, how about you and I go get some celebration cake for everyone!”
As any sane toddler, Sarah agreed to her father’s delectable plan. Steve plucked his daughter from Natasha’s lap, then taking yours and hers order. Once the two had left, you dived right into a conversation with Nat. The topic; Bruce.
Not too long after, the party ended and all Avengers then regrouped, tiredly surrounding the large coffee table covered in takeout and Thor’s hammer idly resting on the end.
“But it’s a trickkkk.” Clint dragged out his statement to emphasize his belief, the little girl sitting beside you, smiling wider.
“No. no. it’s much more than that.” Steve and Thor exchanged the flask as you stared at it, still revolted by its god-awful taste.
“Ah, whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power.” You leaned towards the table, reaching for the carton, laughing at Clint’s truthful reenactment.
“Whatever man, it’s a trick!”
Arising a challenge, Thor pointed to Mjolnir.
“Please, be my guest.”
“Come on.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Clint got up from his seat on the ground, walking confidently towards the hammer as Tony let out a snarky remark.
“Clint, you’ve had a tough week, we won’t hold it against you if you can’t get it up.”
Laughter circled around as Clint came up to Thor, a promising look on his face.
“You know I’ve seen this before right?”
With one hand, Clint attempted to pull the hammer, utilizing all his strength not an ounce unused.
“I still don’t know how you do it.”
“Smell the silent judgement?” Giggles escaped yours and Sarah’s lips as Steve turned to see his two best girls enjoying the amusement.
“Please, Stark, by all means.”
With arrogant poise, Stark raised from his seat, scooting to the table as you could picture his impending disappointment, already laughing at the mere thought.
“Never one to shrink from an honest challenge.”
Rolling up his sleeves, Tony placed his arm in the handle of the hammer.
“Right, so, if I lift it, I then rule Asgard?”
“Yes, of course.” Thor calmly replied, just basking in the free entertainment from his competitive friends. You could see Steve who was beside him, trying his best to contain his laughter. Directing Sarah’s attention from Tony and to Steve, she held in her own laughter as you explained what was happening.
“I will be reinstituting Prima Nocta.” To no surprise, the hammer didn’t budge leaving Tony quickly trying to cover his displeasure.
Tony then returned with his suit’s hand, the hammer still resting on the table. Even Rhodey joined Tony’s unsuccessful conquest.
“Are you even pulling?”
“Are you on my team?”
“Just represent. Pull.”
Next up was Bruce, who also failed, luckily not hulking out on everyone. Natasha gave him a smile while Steve and Thor tried to hide their merriment.
After Bruce’s fruitless attempt, it soon became your husband’s turn.
“Come on, Cap.”
Steve then pulled on the hammer with all his brawn. You weren’t even sure if you were paying attention to the hammer anymore, too caught up on the shirt clinging to Steve.
Your attention span was then proved when the hammer moved up. Sarah’s eyes widened as did yours. Thor had obviously noticed since you sensed some tensity from him. Steve tried once again, this time receiving the same futile result as the rest. When the hammer stopped budging you saw the now relieved man swiftly try to cover up his reaction. A nervous chuckle escaping his lips, echoing into the glass.
“Nothing!”
“Mrs. & lil Ms. Rogers?” Steve outstretched his hand to yours and Sarah’s, guiding you both towards the hammer. All three of you grabbed the hammer. Steve holding the handle while you and Sarah pulled at the stick. Everyone’s combined strength was enough to lift the hammer had it not been of otherworldly decent. Giving up, Sarah was just a smidge disappointed, perking back to herself at Tony’s quip.
“Even the House of Rogers failed too.” You shot Stark a faux look of vexation from the couch, to which he returned with his tongue poking out. Sarah caught this and then ran to him copying his action while you went to sit on Steve’s lap.
“And, Widow?”
Natasha sipped her beer and shook her head.
“That’s not a question I need answered.”
The night continued on with conspiracy theories about the hammer and playful jabs at Steve’s slip-up on his choice of words from the mission recently, Sarah enjoying every moment of the time albeit past her bedtime.
At some point, Sarah had fallen asleep on your shoulder as you and Steve bid your fellow Avengers goodbye.
Indeed, today has been one of the best days, all in part to your lovely family and closest friends.

a very special meeting ~ machine gun kelly
part one   part two   part three   part four   part five
word count: 1828
request?: no
description: you finally meet the number one lady in colson’s life
pairing: machine gun kelly x female!reader
warnings: swearing, other than that hella fluff
Tumblr media
You and Colson stood in shock. Hailie looked between the two of you, unsure of what to say herself. Realizing the danger of the situation, Colson pulled away from you.
“I should go,” he told you. “I’ll see you around.”
He offered you a small smile and mouthed an apology. You smiled back and shook your head, it wasn’t his fault. He seemed reluctant to leave, but you both knew it was best if he did. The minute he turned and started walking away, Hailie approached you with a million questions.
“Was that who I think it was?” she asked. “Is that the mystery guy you’ve been talking to? For how long?”
“Hailie!” you exclaimed, feeling overwhelmed with her questioning. You felt tears run down your cheeks from the worry you were now feeling. Hailie looked at you and her face softened. She wrapped you into a hug, allowing you to let your tears and worry out.
When you both finally pulled away, you unlocked your apartment and let Hailie in. You were hoping to move past the whole scene outside, almost wishing Hailie would let it go. But you knew this wasn’t just something to “let go”. You had been caught kissing the Mathers family enemy number one. You knew Hailie had a million questions, and you knew you’d have to answer them eventually.
So, you told Hailie everything; how you had met Colson, how you had started a secret friendship that resulted in your date that night. You decided not to mention that he had spent the night and slept in your bed.
Hailie listened to it everything you had to say in silence, nodding along every now and then. When you finished, you waited for her reaction. She didn’t really say anything at first, just looked at you as she processed everything you had said. Finally, she said, “Do you really like him, (Y/N)?”
You nodded. “I do. I think I could...I could possibly love him...maybe.” You looked down at your lap. “Are you mad at me?”
Hailie chuckled. “(Y/N), no! Of course not, I could never be! I mean, I don’t exactly like MGK all that much, but if you do I won’t get between the both of you. I just want you to be happy.”
“He’s so much nicer than how he portrays himself in public,” you tell her. “Or how the media portrays him I guess. He says he regrets what he tweeted, and he knows it was wrong. He says he wants to put this whole beef with dad aside if it means not hurting me.”
Hailie raised an eyebrow. “Are you planning on telling dad?”
That was a good question. Of course, the answer at that moment was “fuck no”. You didn’t want your dad to know about this at all. His reaction definitely would not be as understanding at Hailie’s. Not at first, anyways. But you also knew that eventually you would have to tell him. Colson was famous, which meant it was only a matter of time before the paparazzi started picturing you two together, before fans started to notice the two of you out together, or before Colson wanted to take you places a bit more public than just around your small town in Detroit.
Finally, you responded, “I will at some point. I know I have to. But not just yet. Not until I know how serious things are going to be between us.”
Hailie nodded. “Okay. I promise I won’t say a word to him.”
You smiled gratefully. “Thank you so much, Hails.”
Hailie smiled back and gave you a hug. You felt extremely grateful to have such an understanding sister like her.
~~~~~~~
Weeks came and passed. Colson had gone home to work on his next album, but made sure to keep in touch. He called you at least once a day, and would Facetime you at least twice a day. You thought a long distance relationship would be hard, but with Colson it didn’t feel like there was that much distance between you. Maybe it was the long distance friendship at first that made it so easy to be in a long distance relationship, or maybe it just meant you were meant to be with one another, no matter what.
About a month after he had left, you woke up to your phone ringing. You smiled when you saw Colson’s name appear on your screen.
“Good morning,” you greeted when you answered.
“Morning, babe,” Colson responded. He still sounded tired, and you knew he was having trouble sleeping again. You wished there was more you could do, the one thing about the distance that bugged you. “I have a surprise.”
“A surprise?” you asked. “What is it?”
“I can’t tell you, or else it won’t be a surprise.”
You giggled. “Okay, well when will I get this surprise then?”
Colson hummed like he was thinking, and you could almost picture him putting on a mock thinking face. “I guess I could tell you now, so that I won’t just show up on your doorstep unannounced and shock you too bad or anything.”
Your eyes widened, although you knew Colson couldn’t see you. “Wait, show up on my doorstep? Colson, are you coming back to visit?!”
“I guess the cat’s out of the bag,” he said. “We’re catching a flight this afternoon, we should be there sometime tonight but it’ll be late. I might not see you till tomorrow morning.”
“Wait, we?” you asked. “Is...are you...”
“I’m bringing Casie,” he confirmed. “I’ve told her a lot about you. She’s excited to meet you.”
You were suddenly feeling nervous. You were going to meet Colson’s daughter, his number one girl. You wanted to make a good impression on her. You knew her opinion meant the world to Colson.
“Stop worrying,” Colson said after you had been silent for so long. “She’ll love you, babe.”
You weren’t sure you believed him. “Okay. Do you guys want to go out for breakfast tomorrow? There’s a great breakfast place in town we can go to.”
“You’re cheating on our diner?” Colson asked. You couldn’t help but laugh at that. “Sounds good to me. I’m renting a car, I’ll pick you up around 9?”
“That’s perfect. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow, babe.”
~~~~~~
The next morning you felt more nervous than you had on yours and Colson’s first date. This felt like the first big step in your relationship, and it really was a massive step. You wanted Casie to like you. You didn’t want to be the thing that got between them if she didn’t.
You were sat on your front step waiting for Colson. You were too anxious to just sit around in your apartment. You felt like you needed some fresh air to keep yourself from passing out with nervousness. When his rental car pulled up, your stomach leaped with both excitement and nervousness.
Colson was smiling when you got in the car. You couldn’t contain your smile as you got into the car. He wasted no time in cupping your face in his hand and kissing you with so much passion your head felt like it was spinning. You both only stopped when a slightly disgusted voice in the backseat exclaimed, “Ew, dad!”
You turned around to see Casie sat behind you, looking at a tablet watching something. She looked between the both of you with slight disgust, the usual reaction of a child seeing their parent showing PDA.
“Sorry, Cas,” Colson chuckled. “This is the girl I was telling you about, (Y/N). (Y/N), this is Casie, my number one.”
Casie smiled at you. “Hi!”
“Hi Casie,” you said, trying to remain calm. “Your dad has told me a lot about you. I’m glad to finally get to meet you.”
“Dad’s told me a lot about you, too,” Casie said. “Frankly, he doesn’t shut up about you.”
Colson’s face turned red as he awkwardly chuckled, putting the car in drive and starting for the breakfast place. You gave him the directions, which was the only conversation that was happening in the car for a while. You weren’t really sure what to say. What were you supposed to ask a 10 year old?
The three of you arrived to the place in no time and walked in. You got a booth as far away from anyone else as possible, as not to risk running into anyone who would recognize Colson, or any of your family.
The meal started with mainly Colson talking, telling you about his new album and how he already had some songs ready for you to listen to. He was so excited about it, giddy like a kid on their birthday. Then he would talk to Casie for a bit, asking her about back home and her friends and such. When the conversation died down a little bit, he excused himself to the bathroom.
Casie looked up at you. You gave her a small, awkward smile, unsure of what you were supposed to say.
“Dad says your dad is famous, too,” she said.
“He is,” you said. “A rapper, too, actually. He’s uh...he’s pretty famous.”
“So you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to be the kid of a famous person.”
You couldn’t help but laugh then. Casie did, too. “Yeah, I definitely understand. Luckily, I grew up in Detroit and there wasn’t many paparazzi running around, but there was plenty of fake people trying to get close to me just for my dad.”
“See, I have the opposite of that,” Casie said. “Some people in my grade are fans of my dad, and they just ask me about him constantly. But a lot of them are not his fans at all. They say stuff about him all the time to try and get a rise out of me. I almost got expelled once for punching a guy for bad mouthing him.”
You winced. “Really? That’s awful. I honestly can’t imagine what I’d do if someone bad mouthed my dad to my face. Probably just the same, but I wouldn’t stop after one punch.”
Casie nodded. “Dad really likes you. You’re the first girl he’s been with that makes him as happy as you do.”
You felt your face heat up a little bit at the confession. “Really?”
She nodded again. “Yeah. He’s like, extra happy. Always smiling, especially when you text him. He couldn’t wait to get a break from the album so he could see you again.”
You really didn’t know how to respond. Lucky for you, Colson responded before you had to. He slid into the booth next to you, putting his arm around you almost immediately.
“What did I miss?” he asked you both.
You and Casie looked at each other, secret smiles on both of your faces. At the same time, you both responded, “Nothing.”

IDK where else to put this indulgent nonsense so, as one does, I’m putting it on my Tumblr.
Hey do you like my fic where I have an OC who is a gremlin girl and do you also like the Prince!Prompto AU trope and do you want to read a few loose little narrative bits about those two things coming together?
No?
Here it is anyway!
The clock in Prompto’s room sounded out to anyone who listened that the time was now eleven in the morning. Since it was a Thursday, this meant the start to the worst hour of his week, every week, for his whole life.
Every Thursday at eleven in the morning, Dr. Besithia would come by for his weekly check up. The Prince would spend the time trying not to show too much emotion as the doctor used a variety of needles to inject and extract numerous fluids, all while chastising him for being a waste of his and everyone else’s time.
It didn’t matter how strictly Prompto followed the doctor’s orders, or how much control Prompto had over following them in the first place. He never got any better, and he was always made well aware that it was his own fault. The prince of Niflheim was a sickly recluse, so sheltered from the public that many would even doubt his existence. And at fifteen years old, he was lonely and listless and so very tired of living like this.
The door to his bedroom began to open, and Prompto mentally steeled himself for another hour of angry commands, needles, and insults.
“Dr. Besithia to see you, your highness.” The attendant said with a bow. Prompto nodded in return, sitting upright on the edge of his well cushioned bed. The least little rebellion he could maintain was forcing that unpleasant old man to come to him.
But the person who stepped through, all dressed in well ironed white, was not Dr. Besithia. Not at all. This doctor was a woman, and much younger. She bowed slightly upon crossing the threshold before making her way over to him. Prompto, in spite of himself, felt compelled to stand and greet her like the well mannered young man he was supposed to be.
“A pleasure to finally meet you, highness.” She said with a small smile. She looked sad, but gentle, and seemed to be staring at something right behind his own eyes.
“I...I was expecting, I apologize…” Prompto was used to being ogled and visually picked apart by people. Something about her green eyes felt softer. Less invasive and judgemental. Perhaps it was all wishful thinking but her gaze seemed almost kind.
“You were expecting Dr. Besithia?” She asked.
Prompto nodded.
“You’re looking at her.” She smirked. “Doctor Delphia Besithia. Verstael is my father. I understand he was completing your weekly heath assessments, but business for his Imperial Majesty has become...pressing.” The doctor crossed the room over to the little seating area where the work was usually conducted. A clear table, two chairs, plenty of places to hook up Verstael’s array of electrical instruments. “Luckily I’m now officially a licensed medical professional myself, so I’ll be taking over for him.”
Prompto almost couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “So...Dr. Bes-...Verstael won’t be…?”
“You know, why don’t we call my father Dr. Besithia, and you can refer to me as Dr. Delphia. Does that work, your highness?” She asked, setting the large case she was carrying on the table and opening it.
“Yes. I mean, I think that would work fine. Doctor.” Prompto joined her at the table, removing his coat to reveal his bare arms and taking a seat on his usual side of the table.
“So I went over your medical record on the way over, it seems like my old man kept to the same routine every week for a long time. Not all that surprising, except he usually at least tries to change things up whenever he doesn’t get results…”
Prompto cringed. “Yeah, it’s my fault. I just wasn’t trying hard enough.” He sighed, casting his eyes to the floor. He could feel her gaze staring into him once again.
“Your fault?” She asked. “Did my father tell you that?”
He felt himself beginning to sweat. Soon she’d understand just how awful of a patient he really was, and all the gentle niceness would end. She’d grow to hate and resent him just like Dr. Besithia did, he was sure.
“Dude. That’s bullshit.”
Prompto snapped his face up to hers, the bluntness of her assertion shocking him. The doctor had such a look of concern on her face.
“He was your doctor. Treating you was his job. If you weren’t getting better, that’s his fault. Not yours.”
Prompto blinked in confusion.
“If it makes you feel any better, and I doubt it does,” she started retrieving the same instruments he was always used to, “he’s like that with everyone. Everything is always someone else’s fault. No way his genius could be to blame!”
By her tone, Prompto inferred she’d suffered at his words just as much.
“So, let’s start with the easy part. How are you feeling today, your highness?” She asked, taking the other seat and smiling at him.
“How...um, well I’m…” Prompto was not prepared for this question. Easy part, indeed. “Tired, I guess. Like usual. I get dizzy if I stand too long.” And now his heart was pounding in fear. Did he answer wrong? Was that something he could do?
She was typing on a tablet resting in her lap. “Hmm, how about sleep? Do you think you get enough?”
Dr. Besithia never gave Prompto so much time to talk like this. It felt...strange. “I sleep a lot.”
“Do you feel well rested after? Or still tired?” She asked, still typing.
“Oh, uh...I guess I haven’t really thought of that? I’m sorry...guess still tired.”
“Hey, you don’t have to apologize for anything, highness. Okay, if it’s alright with you I’d like to start taking your vitals now.”
...did she just ask him permission? She did. And she was waiting for his answer.
He nodded. And the next thing to strike him was just how gentle she actually was. She never grabbed, but waited for him to offer his arm or hand as needed. She didn’t yell or snipe or speak critically of him. He wasn’t sure how to feel about this. It was oddly terrifying, somehow.
“Alright, your blood pressure is a little low, so we can start with that. There’s a few simple things we can change to try and get it stabilized. Hopefully that will help with the dizziness too!”
Prompto sat in stunned silence as she prescribed such basic things like drinking more water and adding salt to his meals. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. It felt...too easy. After years of living like this, there was no way it could actually be so simple.
“Unfortunately I am going to need to get some blood for lab work, if that’s ok, highness.”
He felt like he might cry. She actually listened to him, and asked him to talk to her. If she really was replacing Besithia going forward, maybe things would actually get better. Maybe... He hoped she never got sick of him, and he’d do everything he could to prevent that.
“You can call me Prompto, um, Doctor. Please.”
She looked at him strangely, like he’d just told her there was a behemoth on her shoulder. But then she smiled again. “Why don’t you call me Del then, Prompto? Has anyone ever told you you have great veins? This is going to be so fast.” And surprisingly, it was. The whole ordeal was over so quickly he couldn’t believe she’d actually done it.
“Alright, unless there’s anything else you’d like to discuss, I think that ends our appointment today.” She began packing everything back up. “And if anything comes up at all, I’m only one floor away!”
“Wait, really?” Dr. Besithia always made a point of reminding him he had to travel a long way for these appointments.
“Yeah, I’m here at the palace full time. Another perk of the job. If you need anything at all, just ask your attendant. I’m here for you Prompto, any time.”
It took everything in him to maintain some amount of regal composure and not start crying. Somehow, for the first time, he had hope. And if nothing else, there was someone here who might actually listen to him.
---
Delphia bowed to the prince before turning and walking to the elevator. She held herself together perfectly until the elevator doors closed behind her and she was granted ten seconds of complete isolation. An hour’s worth of suppressed, extreme emotion bubbled out all at once in a large gasp for air. Her chest felt tight and her eyes burned with the threat of tears.
You have to do this. You have to do this. You have to be here for him, because no one else will.
Delphia composed herself just as the doors opened again. It was another two minutes before she made it to her office which she thankfully had to herself. She opened the door and flipped on the light.
And really, she should have expected that she wouldn’t actually get to be alone just yet.
“Doctor Besithia, how is our young charge on this day?” Chancellor Izunia, hat in hand, bowed to her.
“Terrible, but you already knew that didn’t you Ardyn?” She didn’t have time for his fanciful speech patterns and flowery prose right now. She had samples to run.
“Looking a bit red eyed yourself, Delphia. Hard first day on the job?” He tailed her to the workstation, watching carefully as she washed and gloved her hands.
“Why do you always ask questions you already know the answer to?” She asked, getting the little centrifuge ready to go.
“The same could be asked of yourself, Doctor.”
She sighed. “My father’s been purposefully keeping him ill. Or at least below a functional baseline.”
“You’re certain?” Ardyn asked like a child giddy about knowing the punchline to an old joke.
“Verstael did the same tests, same treatments, same everything over and over again despite no improvement. There’s only one reason you don’t change up the treatment plan.”
“Because it is working as intended.” Ardyn smiled in that wicked way that made her feel like a small rabbit being eyed by a wolf.
But this rabbit had an understanding with the wolf.
“Exactly. But here’s what I find really interesting.” She looked up from the samples currently shaking at a dizzying rate in the machine. “Whatever was going on, you wanted it to end.”
“Oh do walk me through your process of deduction, Delphia. Your brain is always so intriguing to pick.”
She rolled her eyes. “Cut the shit. You knew I’d see these numbers and figure out what was happening immediately.” She pointed at him accusingly. “When the Emperor gave Father his orders, you made damn sure I was the one who took his place.”
“Who better to take over the father’s work, than the daughter?”
“My graduating class had 44 other young doctors who would have been eager and willing to take up his job and do it unquestioningly. Exactly at his direction, no critical thought or deviation. And you insisted on the one singular doctor who, you knew for a fact, wouldn’t. And that, Ardyn, is the most suspicious thing of all.”
“You do wound me, young one. But all the same please go on, I am on the edge of my seat.”
She considered not continuing, just to piss him off. But she couldn’t resist any opportunity to show off. It was a problem. So on she went.
“Verstael takes pride in his projects, particularly the ones he...made from scratch.” She felt sick, thinking of the thousands of lives just like Prompto. His life was anything but easy, but it was worlds above that of his many, many brothers. “If he was interfering with the prince’s health on purpose, it must be because someone above him told him to. And there’s only one person who could tell him to do anything.”
Ardyn smiled, somehow even wider.
 She began the process of sterilizing her instruments, taking her time with each.
“The Emperor wants the Prince to waste away in poor health, hidden from the public and with zero sense of self worth to boot. Which is curious, since the Emperor was the one who commissioned a prince in the first place! Which leads me to believe Iedolas wanted this from the start. So. Why create an heir and then sabotage him?”
“Perhaps because the heir is meant only to act as a symbol.”
“Mmmhmm.” Del had considered as much. Hearing it from the chancellor cemented it. “A means of reminding the people the monarchy is here to stay. But Project Deathless is right around the corner, or so Father claims. And if it comes to fruition, then Iedolas is the monarchy. Forever.”
“Who needs an heir when you never plan to retire?”
“Who needs an heir beloved by the people, capable of leading and inspiring a coupe before you have a chance to gain immortality?”
“In the meantime, the chain of succession is decided by blood.”
“And the snakes in the cabinet can’t finagle their way into increasing power, at least not as easily.”
“Delphia I do love our conversations, not many can keep up quite like you.”
“Like father, like daughter.” She sighed. “So where do you come in, Ardyn? What do you get out of Prompto getting better?”
“Is it not enough to see a poor child suffering, and wishing to see him well again?”
“No, it’s not.” She replied, despite the unsaid implication hanging above them. Once, she was that suffering little child. And he healed her bruises and did what was needed to get her out of that hell hole. But that was a long time ago. And they were both very different now.
Ardyn hummed in response. “I would like to hear the good doctor’s hypothesis before the big reveal.”
She sighed. This man was so exhausting. But he was the only person worth talking to, somehow. “I think it's suspicious because you have no interest in the throne. Well, not this one at least.”
“And…” He smirked, telling her she was on the right track.
“And what a coincidence that our little prince is the same age as Lucis’ little prince.”
“What a coincidence indeed!”
The centrifuge stopped, the samples were ready for testing.
“I think you have a use for him in your little tirade against the Astrals and your brother’s descendants.” She snarled.
“And what use would that be?”
“I don’t know.” Delphia leaned over the workstation, looking Ardyn in the eyes. “But whatever it is you’ve got planned, if it ends with Prompto hurt or dead, I’m putting a stop to it. Now.”
Ardyn clicked his tongue in disapproval. “Now now, Delphia, you wound me.” He clutched his hand over his chest in mock insult. “Such accusations. I know you too well, little finch. The guilt you feel, unable to end your little brothers’ suffering. It tears at your weak, mortal heart. I have brought you to one who may live, and perhaps even prosper, with your guiding hand and sharp mind. I have no intentions of causing the boy further harm.”
Del didn’t believe that for a moment. Not because he was a liar, though he was certainly lying. She knew what lurked through the chancellor’s veins. What was eating him from the inside out, slowly, with every breath he took. It was getting worse, warping him. He was not the same man who befriended her fifteen years ago. Though bits of that man were still in there. And she knew if she just continued to play along, did what she could to keep those bits floating around alive, she’d get that friend back.
She just needed some more time.
---
“Commodore! Fucking finally. I have a request.” Delphia shouted across the courtyard, having finally found the woman after an hour of chasing down lead after lead.
“Interesting way of approaching someone. Mind an introduction first?”
Delphia tempered her knee jerk instinct to say something rude. “My name is Doctor Besithia, I assume you’re familiar with my father?”
“You mean the quack keeping the prince weak and at his mercy?”
Oh, she liked this woman. “Yep. Well, used to. I’m the prince’s personal physician now.”
“You planning on keeping up daddy’s work, Doc?” The Commodore crossed over to her, looking down with suspicion.
“Not quite. I’ve been going over his notes and I think there might be some...room for improvement. But I might need your assistance.”
Aranea shrugged her shoulders. “I’m a bodyguard, not a nurse. When the prince can leave his bedroom then I’ll have a job to do. Until then-”
“That’s exactly why I’m asking for your help, Commodore.” Delphia smiled. “The prince needs to leave his bedroom.”
“Uh huh. But can he?”
“Yes.” Delphia smirked up at the taller woman. “We’ve been working on it for three weeks, but he’s more than ready now. Of course, he’s not supposed to go anywhere without his retainers. Specifically the one that knows how to hit things with a stick.”
Aranea crossed her arms and frowned. “You’re telling me, after less than a month, Prince Shortcake is already improving?”
And this is where Delphia wanted the conversation to be. She needed to know who could be trusted, and who was in on the whole charade. Where did the true loyalties of the prince’s shield lie?
“Yeah. And if he’s going to keep getting better, he needs fresh air and sunlight. Vitamin D doesn’t make itself, you know. So, you ready to get to work, Commodore?”
Aranea studied Del’s face, obviously searching for answers to the same questions.
“Alright, Doc. Show me a miracle, and we’ll have ourselves a casual little stroll.”
Fantastic.
---
“Fifteen minutes.” Del reassured the two of them. “That’s all you need. Fifteen minutes in direct sunlight with bare arms, that’s more than enough time to get your daily dose of Vitamin D.”
Prompto felt like his heart could beat right out of his chest. It’d been so long since he’d left the palace walls. It was terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. The doctor was on his left, keeping a close eye on him. Most likely observing his physical state while he walked around.
On his right was Aranea, keeping an eye on everyone else in the courtyard. He hadn’t seen her in so long, he almost ran over to hug her before remembering his manners. She’d been like a sister to him when he was younger. But the weariness of the past seven years took just as much of a toll on her as it had on him.
Behind them, a guard was pushing a wheelchair. It was Del’s idea and insistence. “Just in case.” She said gently. “And there’s no shame in needing to use it.”
He might need it sooner than later, as everything around him was becoming overwhelming. The smell of fresh growing flowers, the sun on his face warming his skin, the light chatter of palace staff meandering around, their shoes clicking on the stone below.
It was making him dizzy.
“Yep, alright dude, easy now.” Del took his hand and helped guide him to the waiting wheelchair. “Take a few breaths, let me know what you need.”
Aranea did not look happy. “Is he alright?”
“I’m fine.” Prompto yelped, sitting up straighter. “I’m fine I’m just, it’s...a lot.”
“I bet.” Aranea smirked down at him.
“Are you okay to stay outside a little longer?” Del asked, voice filled with concern.
All of this positive attention was going to make him just about pass out.
“Yes. I’d like to, at least.”
Del smiled and put a hand on his forehead, wiping the hair from his eyes. “Alright, we’ll keep on. Just give me a heads up when you need to go back inside.”
He nodded. Prompto let the guard push him forward, watching little birds flicker through the sky and listening to his doctor and his shield have a not so private conversation between them.
“Well, credit where it’s due, Doc. Guess the Hippocratic oath still means something.”
“So then, about my proposal…”
“Count me in. Shortcake’s long overdue for some combat training.”
“Gradual, structured, short session combat training.”
“Yeah, I got it the first time.”
“With a lot of padded mats and-”
“Doc, you worry about his bone marrow count or whatever it is you do. Let me do my job.”
If he wasn’t already light headed, that would’ve sent him right over. He’d dreamed about getting to swing a sword around or hold a shield just like one of his father’s soldiers. In fact when he was still little and full of energy, he and Aranea would pretend spar with sticks or paper tubes for hours on end.
He’d all but abandoned being able to do that ever again. And now.
Del stopped and turned to look at him, smiling, her green eyes radiating warmth. “How you doing, Prompto?”
Aranea turned, crossing her arms, awaiting his response. And for the first time in forever she wasn’t looking down at him with pity. He hadn’t seen her look so content since they were kids.
Prompto nodded, smiling even wider. “I’m great.”
---
Cor was in complete disbelief. Not for the reason everyone else in the situation room was, oh no. While everyone else was staring mouth agape at the first recorded proof the prince of Niflheim actually existed, he was focused on the young woman walking next to him. The image wasn’t the closest, or clearest, but there was no mistaking.
That was Del Besithia, the six year old shit head daughter of Verstael, who treated an Imperial military research facility like her personal gymnasium. The little girl who called Cor a ‘dumbass’ in many colorful different ways. The kid who was so lonely and so deluded that she truly believed an army of clone babies were her brothers.
He’d tried so hard to get her to trust him, to get one of those babies to him so they could figure out what exactly was going on. In the end, she bailed on him, and Cor went home empty handed save a few photos of babies sleeping suspended in large cylinders.
From the looks of things, one baby did manage to get out though.
Incredible, really. Seeing the two of them standing next to each other, it was so obvious to anyone who knew what to look for. It was so obvious to Cor; the prince was one of those clones. And his ‘sister’ was his personal physician.
She looked happy. And sure, one still photograph couldn’t fill in a 14 year gap. But she was smiling, and with one of them, and she was walking freely outside. She’d told Cor with zero hesitation she knew she was going to die in that facility.
The look on her face when she made that statement had haunted him since. Maybe this one could replace it. She was fine. She was alive and okay.
There wasn't anything else he could’ve done for that kid.
“To be fair, hardly anyone ever saw Iedolas before he took the throne. And by that point he was already greying.”
“And we have no leads on who the mother could be. The lack of resemblance means nothing; the boy wears the Imperial regalia. That’s all the confirmation required.”
“Yes, but what if-?”
“That’s their prince.” Cor finally spoke up, hoping to end the back and forth guessing games. “Looks to be Noctis’ age as well. Prompto Aldercapt. Keep our eyes on him, I want to know his political and moral leanings before he has a chance to use them.”
The meeting adjourned, and his agents filed out. Cor had more business to get to. Training Gladio, overseeing the new recruits orientation, a briefing on the status of the wall, another briefing on the growing demon population…
He took another look at that photograph. Looking at Del smiling down at the prince, both of them looking happy and peaceful. There was something...pulling at him. Like a fist gripping his heart and trying to rip it from his chest. Something felt very wrong, a lingering threat aimed directly at them. Cor couldn’t tell why, but he knew they were in danger, and in spite of his loyalties he felt like he needed to protect those two.
It was a strange impulse, maybe even something of an instinct. He couldn’t place its origin but he had a feeling a cigarette and some sleep would help dispel it.
Or...
---
“So...guns, huh?” Del frowned, watching as the prince shot off another round down the firing range.
“Your prescription of sunshine and lollipops-”
“I didn’t prescribe lollipops-”
“-can only do so much. He’s lacking the coordination for hand to hand combat, and swords wear out his stamina too quickly. A gun is lighter, easier to handle, and keeps him out of reach of more conventional weapons.” Aranea looked very pleased with herself.
“Well...at least he’s wearing ear protection.” He was also standing with a more determined posture than when they’d first met. And his skin was starting to show a little color, freckles not unlike her own dotting his cheeks and shoulders.
“Emperor dropped in yesterday.” Aranea sighed.
Del felt her stomach drop. If the hypothesis she’d shared with Ardyn was anywhere close to correct, this was bad.
“Prince Shortcake shrank in his shadow, like the past few months never even happened.” The shield began chewing on her thumb, furrowing her brow. “Iedolas just grunted, looking as pissy as ever, and walked away. Poor kid. He’s still got a long way to go on that confidence.”
“You’d think the guy would be even a little bit happy his son was getting better.” Del shrugged her shoulders, hoping the anxiety wasn’t evident in her voice.
Aranea narrowed her eyes, studying Del for a moment. “You know, I really don’t get who you think you’re fooling.” She said before turning back around, walking to the prince to continue coaching his form.
Del blinked. What the fuck was that supposed to mean?
---
“Like, seriously, what the fuck was that supposed to mean?” She asked, several hours later, pacing in her office while flipping through her notes.
“The mind of the Commodore is a mysterious one.” Ardyn had once again invited himself in, leaning back in her chair, boots resting on her desk. “But little finch, you have not been the most subtle in your intentions. There are whispers, you know…”
“Intentions?” She snapped. “Oh how terrible, I want the prince to not wither away and die in his bedroom at the age of sixteen. What fucking whispers, Ardyn?”
“The daughter of Verstael schemes to make the prince completely reliant upon her, such that when he overthrows his father and takes the throne he will do so at her own whims.”
Del pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling a headache rising up. “I’m getting real fucking sick of politics. It’s like no one can do a single nice thing without having some wicked ulterior motive! It’s bullshit.”
“You have seemingly worked miracles, Delphia, in the eyes of the court.” Ardyn flicked at the brim of his hat to get a better view of her. “That is always suspicious.”
“Miracles. Intentions. All I did was treat my patient. I’m...I just want my brother to be healthy! Any sister would want that, much less one with a medical license. Is that so fucking terrible?!” Del was going to snap. Nothing about anything was ever easy in this godsforsaken hellscape of a country.
Ardyn lifted his eyebrows, eyes flickering to the door, before lifting a finger to his lips.
Del got the message. Someone was listening. And they heard...that. Slowly, quietly, she started to step towards the door. She gestured at Ardyn, asking him to talk so it wasn’t obvious they knew.
“Your heart is pure as always, little finch. But when one is steeped in their own darkness for so long, well…”
Del wrenched the door open and shot her head out, seeing no one but hearing fast paced foot steps.
“Darkness tends to be all one can see.”
She took off, down the long hallway, turning the corner. Nothing, not even a sound of a door. Whoever just heard her stupid ramblings, they got away.
“I did warn you to be careful.” Ardyn said from behind her shoulder.
“Yeah.” Del swallowed hard, catching her breath. “You did.”

Start from the beginning Chp 1 on AO3
Chapter 28
The van ride back to the mansion was blissful. Marinette was giddy about how well her conversation went with Adrien. The whole night was wonderful, and the icing on the cake was that she didn’t even have to pretend to like Lila since the two never spent any alone time together.
 As she walked in the front doors, Marinette heard a scream and was tackled with a hug. “Thank God you came back! I don’t know if I could have handled it if you went home and left me with Lila alone!” the voice of Juliette moaned as she squeezed the life out of Marinette. When Juliette finally let her go, she was greeted by Lucie as well, who hugged her enthusiastically.
The two girls dragged Marinette to the couch and asked her for every detail about the three-on-one date. She told them all of the awkward details, all except her declaration of love for the cameras. That she wanted to keep to herself a little longer. Right as she finished explaining that she didn’t know who had gone home because she left before she could find out, the door opened. All three girls held their breath, only to let out a small sigh as Lila entered the room.
Lila paused on her way towards the stairs and gave a curt, “What are you three staring at?” before disappearing out of sight.
Juliette just rolled her eyes and carried on like there had been no interruption. “Oh well, we can’t have everything in life.” Marinette and Lucie both began laughing as Lila huffily reentered the room.
She sat down on the couch and crossed her arms, quickly followed by Victoria, who was armed with her signature clipboard.
“Great, now that we’re all here, we can discuss what next week is going to look like.” She conferred with her clipboard for a moment before continuing. “As you know, the next stop on your journey is Hometowns, where Adrien gets to meet your parents. The dates have already been planned for you as well as the locations, which will be in your town but not your house, for safety reasons, except for Miss Dupain-Cheng.” The other three girls turned and looked at Marinette, but she just shrugged, not understanding what made her different from the rest.
Victoria moved on as if nothing had happened. “That means you will get to see your family for the first time as well. You are not permitted to stay the night with them. You will wake up the morning of your Hometown in your assigned hotel room in your hometown, and you will come back the night of to that same room, are we clear?”
Every girl gave a mumbled, “Yes ma’am,” before Lila spoke up, “What about my parents? Are we going to Italy and for how long?” Her voice was strained and she didn’t seem very excited about seeing her parents again.
“They are already notified of what is to come and they will be arriving in France a day prior to your Hometown and the leaving the day after shooting.” Victoria said, matter-of-factly. Victoria finally looked up from her clipboard and made eye contact with all of the girls, “Any other questions?” Marinette had a couple of questions, but she didn’t want to ask in front of the other girls and embarrass herself. Victoria gave a satisfied smile and seemed to relax a little. “Anyway, I wanted to congratulate you four for making it this far. We appreciate your dedication to Adrien and to the journey and I hope you’ll be patient with us, as these next few weeks are very critical to the success of the show and everything that happens from here on out will be closely monitored.” With that, she turned on her heel and left the room.
The girls sat quietly for a moment, allowing what was just said to soak in. Lila was the first one out of the room, and the other girls soon followed, wishing the others goodnight.
Marinette laid in her bed, with Tikki on the pillow next to her, thinking about Victoria’s final words. “Do you think they’ll notice when you disappear as Ladybug?” Tikki asked, voicing the question Marinette was pondering.
“Honest, Tik, I don’t know. I’m just going to have to be more careful, I guess, and hope that no one finds out.”
                     ----------------------------------------------------
The next three days felt longer than normal. Without the cocktail party to stress about Friday and Saturday, the days stretched on and on. By Sunday afternoon Marinette was itching to transform. Right before she could escape, she was cornered by a random producer who wanted to officially inform her that her Hometown date would occur Monday, since she was the only local girl and Lila’s parents couldn’t fly in until Thursday.
Realizing that she only had mere hours before truly seeing her parents again made her want to jump and scream with excitement. She had miss them so much, even though they were minutes away from where she was now, it was still exciting to think that soon she would see them with Adrien in tow.
The thought of Adrien meeting her parents gave her butterflies. She knew that she was in it for the long haul, but it was still weird to think that she’d been in a relationship with Adrien long enough for parents to be involved.
As she rounded the corner to her room and walked inside, a horrible thought struck. “What if they don’t like him?” Marinette asked the room at large.
Thankfully, only Tikki answered, “What if who doesn’t like whom?”
Marinette met Tikki’s eyes, and she must have looked truly worried, because Tikki immediately flew next to Marinette, offering up one of her precious cookies. “What if my parents don’t like Adrien? Like how are they to know that he’s my soulmate who I’ve been in love with for seven years? What do I do if they decide he’s not good enough for me or if there’s something completely wrong with him?” Marinette gasped as an even worse thought came, “What if they decide that I’m not good enough for him and they adopt Adrien and disown me and then I’ll be homeless and living on the street and I’ll have to beg for money and sleep in a cardboard box and my only friends will be the mice that live in my alley and the toothless hobo they call Smelly Todd.”
Tikki grabbed Marinette’s cheek and forced her to make eye contact with the god. Her blue eyes bore into Marinette’s and she felt her breathing relax and her heart rate go down. “Be sensible, Marinette. None of that is going to happen. Your parents are going to love Adrien because they will see how much of a gentleman he is and how much he loves you. Once they see how much you two care for each other, there won’t be any objections.”
Marinette felt herself nodding, Tikki’s words flowing over her and calming her down significantly. “You’re right Tikki,” she sighed, slumping down onto her bed. “Thank you for not letting me become a hobo and being friends with Smelly Todd.”
Tikki gently patted her cheek, “I’ll always be here for you, Marinette.”
Almost an hour later, Marinette was still thinking about all of the possible ways this meeting tomorrow could go, just without the hyperventilating, when she transformed and disappeared out of her window.
                      ----------------------------------------------------
Chat had actually beat Ladybug to their meeting spot, and, as if it was some unspoken agreement, as soon as Ladybug’s feet hit the roof, both of them dropped their transformations.
Plagg just glanced between the two of them as Tikki flew to join him. “Why does this feel like an ambush?”
Marinette gave a nervous giggle and moved to sit next to Adrien, who suddenly looked very stressed and worried. She gently grabbed his hand and he quickly entwined their fingers together as he took a deep breath and addressed the kwamis. “We need to talk about our new powers.”
Tikki let out a small sigh, “We figured you would eventually.”
“We just need a better understanding of how they work, so we know how to better control them.” Marinette said calmly, giving Adrien’s hand a small squeeze.
Plagg let out an exasperated sigh that caused Adrien to roll his eyes. “What do you want to know? They’re new and better and that’s about it.”
Adrien opened his mouth to say something, but Marinette beat him to it. “Please, Plagg, we need more information. We’re trying to figure out what happened during the last akuma attack, and how we can try not to destroy all of Paris while we’re saving it.”
“The thing is, Marinette, we can’t give out too much information. You have to figure out the new powers for yourself.” Tikki floated over and gently put her hands on Adrien’s other hand. She was looking at him so sadly that it made Marinette’s heart hurt.
Adrien stared down at his lap and whispered, “I just need to understand how I cataclysmed Montparnasse Tower.” Tikki and Plagg shared a look, and Marinette had a feeling that a mini argument was going on between them. After a few beats, Tikki huffed a “Fine!” and Plagg sped over towards Adrien, forcing him to met his eyes.
“Hey, kid, I know how much this has bothered you this week. But you need to know it wasn’t fully your fault. These enhanced powers allow for your cataclysm to last longer than it did before, which you couldn’t have known.”
“You mean like more than five minutes?” Marinette asked, genuinely curious.
“Kind of. It’s hard to explain without demonstrating it, but you can use your power more than one time. You have more control over it.”
Adrien’s jaw dropped, and he stuttered, “M-more than one time?”
“Yeah, aren’t you listening?” Plagg asked, giving Adrien a teasing look before continuing. “Let’s look at what happened with Revengapop.” Adrien physically flinched at the name, but didn’t stop Plagg. “You summoned the cataclysm to destroy his popcorn-making machine. But, as you landed from your jump, you touched the roof with your right hand to balance yourself. Your cataclysm was still active when you touched the roof, therefore it cataclysmed the building. You could have done more damage, except once you realized what you had done, you willed the cataclysm away.”
As he was talking, Marinette replayed the event in her mind. She could see Chat jumping towards the machine, and then landing in a lunge with his right hand on the roof. That was when the building started to collapse, and she went into overdrive and grabbed the akuma while using her Miraculous fix.
“So, you’re saying that he can cataclysm more than one thing with a charge? Like it’ll just keep going until he’s done using it, and then he can just turn it off?”
“You got it, LB.”
“But wait, how does the countdown work, if he can cataclysm a number of things?”
“The timer is the tricky part,” Tikki cut in. “Your timers last longer than 5 minutes now, but it will only gradually increase over time. So now you may have 5 and a half minutes before you detransform, but it’ll eventually become longer and more permanent as you continue to get older.”
“But when do the timers start counting down?” Adrien asked, his gaze dancing between the two kwamis.
“Yours, kid, starts once you turn the cataclysm off.”
“And yours, starts once you are done using your Lucky Charm, usually by throwing it for the Miraculous cure.”
“So, you’re saying I can fight an entire fight with a cataclysm charge on my right hand and my ‘kind of, sort of’ five-minute timer won’t start until I turn off the power?” Marinette noticed that the light was slowly coming back in Adrien’s eyes, and he actually seemed to be getting excited about all of this rather than worried like he was before.
“Yes, but that’s honestly all we can tell you. The rest of it you have to discover for yourself.” Tikki was calm, but it was clear that she was done talking about this topic with the Miraculous holders. Adrien, however, was not.
“So, the bigger jumps and connected thoughts and being able to walk around quieter are all part of the enhanced powers package too?”
Plagg nodded excitedly. “My favorite is the enhanced strength. With it, you can lift the largest piece of camembert ever made!” Marinette laughed at the thought of Chat just casually holding a piece of camembert the size of a car.
As Adrien and Plagg continued to get excited about all of the new powers he has, Marinette’s mind went into overdrive. There was something that Tikki had said after the Task when they learned about all of this that she needed to ask about.
“I have a question.” She announced, which shut the boys up pretty quickly. “Tikki, when you told us about our new powers, you said more danger could come with it, and that we needed to be more careful. What exactly did you mean by that.”
Tikki paused, as if contemplating the best way to phrase her next statement. Do you remember the akuma Timebreaker?” Marinette nodded, thinking of that akuma from long ago. That was an akuma she would never forget, as she ended up working with another Ladybug as well as a Chat Noir, one Ladybug from the present and one from the past (of like 5 minutes, but still). “Do you remember how Chat got hit by Timebreaker and he dissolved?” Both Marinette and Adrien nodded grimly. They didn’t like to talk about all of the times something horrible had happened to Chat during a battle, but that particular instance was one of the worst. “If that were to happen now, your enhanced powers as Ladybug would go away until you saved Chat.”
Marinette tried to comprehend what that would look like. Her timer would go back to 5 minutes exactly, her lucky charm wouldn’t be as strong, and she would be without her partner, which is always her greatest weakness. The idea upset her more than she thought it would.
Tikki let her words hang there before speaking again. “That’s why I warned you to be careful. If something happens to either of you, even if it’s something that the Miraculous cure can fix, the other will suffer greatly.”
Marinette and Adrien exchanged a look. She could tell that he still thought she was the reckless one out of the two of them, but arguing about it won’t fix the problem. “I promise to be more aware of my actions, if you are.”
Adrien smiled that beautiful smile of his and answered, “We both know I’m not the reckless one, but I promise the same. I’ll be safer if you’ll be safer.”
Marinette rolled her eyes, but leaned into him and rested her head on his shoulder. “I meant what I said at the date last week. I only want you to be safe.”
Adrien turned his head and kissed her forehead, “I just want us to be safe together.”
Marinette closed her eyes and smiled, enjoying this moment with Adrien. Of course, that’s when Plagg decided to clear his throat causing Marinette to open her eyes.
“I hate to break up this moment, but I want cheese before we go patrol.” Adrien rolled his eyes and pulled away from Marinette gently, digging in his pocket for some cheese. He tossed it to his kwami as Marinette stood up, looking for cookies for Tikki.
“Don’t worry, Marinette, I don’t need cookies to transform.” Tikki said with a laugh as Adrien whipped towards her appalled. “Plagg’s just needy.” Marinette laughed as Adrien murmured, “I knew that,” before calling his transformation. Marinette watched as he was bathed in green light and then suddenly, Chat stood before her. She let out a small sigh, which caught Chat’s attention.
“What was that, princess?” He asked with a smirk.
“Oh nothing. I just don’t think I’ll ever get tired of watching you do that.” Chat let out a small growl-like sound before stepping forward and kissing Marinette aggressively. She got lost in the kiss as his claws ran through her hair and she was finally able to appreciate how skin tight his leather suit really was. Before either of them took it too far though, they broke apart and Chat rested his forehead on Marinette’s.
“We have a city to patrol,” he said rather breathlessly, the sound of which sent shivers down her spine.
“You’re right,” she sighed, wishing for once that she didn’t have to be responsible for the entire city of Paris. “Plus, we’ll have plenty of time for that kind of stuff in the fantasy suite.” She watched Chat gulp and grow slightly pale under the mask, which caused her to laugh. It was nice to know she could still get to him.
She quickly called her transformation, and the two of them flew off into the night.

Southside Girl
Tumblr media
Pairings: Jay Halstead x Reader
Warnings: Swearing, Violence, Gunshots,
AN: I had fun with this one so I hope everyone enjoys. it’s a little different from the request but the main theme is the same.
Y/N is Jay's High School friend and she gets a job at Med as a nurse. She has always been in love with Jay, but what happens when she gets shot? Does Jay reveal his true feelings to Will?
******
You’d been at MED now for a few months, long enough to know where everything was, where all the trauma equipment was kept and most importantly, in your opinion, the fastest route to the cafeteria and therefore the coffee machine.
You had only been back in Chicago for about 5 months now. After growing up on the South Side of the city, you’d somehow dragged yourself through high school with passing grades and gotten into college on the West Coast.
Living in California had definitely gotten you out of the habit of cold Winters which is why when you came into the ED that morning it was hard to even recognise if it was you under the multiple layers of coats, scarves, gloves and varying other warmth providing equipment.
“Y/N? That even you under all that?” Maggie peered curiously between the layers of clothing trying to find your eyes.
“All that California sun turn you weak Y/L/N?”
“Shut it Halstead” you snapped unwrapping a scarf to glower at Will who was grinning at you from behind his fancy Doctor Tablet.
As a kid you’d grown up a few streets over from the Halstead’s, had in fact been a year behind the younger brother, Jay, at school. It gave you a unique position to take the piss out of the doctor without getting in too much trouble.
“Oh, that’s Y/N alright. No one else is quite that vicious this early in the morning. What’s the matter nugget didn’t have your coffee yet?”
“Halstead, I swear…”
Whatever it was you were about to swear to you’d both never know because Maggie inserted herself between the two of you. “Children. Down” she fixed both of you with a stare that made the most argumentative patient sit down and shut up. “There’s a trauma call coming in, your brother’s bringing him in. Think you can not jump for each other’s throats long enough to treat the patient?”
Patients would be the one thing that could make you both behave long enough to actually get along. If there was one thing you could both agree on it was that your jobs were important and patients always took priority.
However, when this patient got wheeled in still screaming and yelling with Jay walking beside him it knocked you back more than you were willing to admit.
You recognised that patient. The one with blood pooling around what looked to be a gunshot to the abdomen.
“Alex?” the trolley he was on was rolled past you and frantic eyes locked on you.
“Y/N, fuck, you gotta help me Y/N. They shot me! They fucking shot me!”
Jay was scowling furiously at Alex as the trolley was wheeled into a cubicle, he grabbed your wrist before you could go in as well.
“Get another nurse to deal with him”
“What?” you yanked at your wrist “Jay let go of me”
“Get another nurse Y/N”
“Your being ridiculous Halstead”
“For what? Not wanting you to treat your gang banger ex-boyfriend”
“Y/N, I got this one” April went into the cubicle leaving you still stood with Jay’s hand manacled around your wrist.
“What the hell Jay” you hissed at him, eyes narrowing. “What gives you the right?”
You were attracting quite the crowd of interested viewers to your little argument which was the point where using your spare hand you pushed at his chest so you were no longer in the middle of the ED.
“Aren’t you breaking some sort of rule by treating someone you know anyway?”
“I don’t know Alex, and let go of me Jay” you pulled once more at your wrist and this time he did finally let you go. “We dated for a few months nothing more”
“Yeah, and I never understood why you even did that much!”
That was it, your temper finally exploded. It was notoriously unstable and Jay had just pushed the final button.
“Maybe because Halstead he at least recognised that I was a WOMAN!” you spun away from an opened mouthed Jay and stalked away towards where Maggie was watching you. “Patient?”
“Trauma 3”
You grabbed the file from her and without giving a backwards glance to anyone else in the ED you made for Trauma 3.
 ********
So ok, time to come clean with yourself, you may have had a massive, childish crush on Jay Halstead ever since you’d been old enough to realise that boys held a certain attraction that girls didn’t. Jay however, had spent most his teenage years chasing everything in a skirt that wasn’t you, and to make it worse you’d then been forced to listen to his stories about these conquests.
You’d dated Alex mainly as an act of rebellion to see if you could finally get his attention. All it had done though was made Jay moody and distant. When you’d left for California and college you’d barely been speaking and since you’d gotten back it hadn’t exactly been smooth sailing either.
Having him stop you doing your job was still grating on you when Will came over a little later.
“He just cares, you know that”
“Don’t start with me Will”
Will watched you filling in charts for a moment. “I mean it Y/N he might not exactly have gone about it in the right way today, but he only did it because he cares about you”
“Then he has a crappy way of showing it” you snapped “how is Alex?”
“He’ll live” Will was clearly debating whether to tell you the next part, making up his mind though he turned to face you completely. “He’s asking to see you”
“Oh?”
“He has some very vivid memories of you”
“Just don’t start Will” you begged “I am not the little kid who used to follow Jay around like a little puppy anymore. I'm an adult, I moved on”
“Really?” he didn’t sound like he believed you. “And Y/N you were never just a kid who followed Will around to me. You were part of our family, you know that”
“I know that” admitting that got rid of the concern on Will’s face then you put it straight back on my telling him you were going to go and see what Alex wanted.
Jay saw where you were heading and angrily marched around to try and cut you off, Will caught him before hand though and whispered something harshly into his ear. Jay started and looked up at his brother, leaving you plenty of time to slip into Alex’s room.
 *****
Afterwards you wouldn’t be able to explain what had happened, you’d gone into the cubicle, were talking to a still agitated Alex and then… well things went to hell in a hand basket.
Jay came in which just made Alex even more frantic, he started yelling about a conspiracy between Jay and Will to put him in prison for what had gone down with you all as kids, Jay was trying to tell him that wasn’t true but Alex suddenly lurched sideways to the officer who’d been placed on his bedside and came up with his weapon.
The next thing you knew, the gun had gone off and you were sat on the floor with blood coming from your arm.
Everything had really gone crazy at that point.
Alex was screaming.
Jay was wrestling the gun away.
Dr Choi and April were crouched in front of you asking you questions.
Then, you were up moved to another room and were sat on a trolley being a patient yourself as the wound on your upper arm was stitched and bandaged.
That had been about an hour ago, the pain in your arm had numbed due to some wonderful pain killers and you were still sat on the edge of a bed trying to figure out what exactly had happened.
“Hey… can I come in?”
Jay, or at least Jay’s head was poking around the curtain covering the small room you were in. You stared at the floating head for a minute before nodding “yeah, why not”
The rest of Jay appeared coming over to stand in front of you, eyes glued to your arm and the bandage covering it. “You, uh... you alright?”
“Sure. I guess, I mean I’ve never been shot before so I'm not really sure what I'm meant to be feeling”
Saying the word ‘shot’ out loud made you feel a bit sick and Jay was clearly feeling it as well because his face had gone pale and anger was floating around in his eyes. “Why the hell did you even go in there?”
“Why wouldn’t I Jay? How was I meant to know that he was going to go apeshit and shoot me?”
“He’s always been dangerous Y/N. You should’ve known better”
“Really Jay? He’s always been dangerous? It’s Alex. We’ve known him since we were kids”
“Which is why you should have known better”
There was no end to this argument and you just didn’t have the energy to fight with him right then. The air puffed out of your lungs and you let your head drop forward so your chin was touching your chest.
You felt the bed dip as Jay sat down beside you. “What did you mean?” his voice was quiet again, serious.
“What did I mean when?”
“When you said he saw you as woman?” you cringed, you had shouted that at him. Damn you and your big mouth. “Do you think I didn’t?”
You forced yourself to look over at him “Did you?” Jay was the one who cringed this time. “It’s alright Jay, I got over it a long time ago, the crush on the bad Halstead. Long gone”
“You had a crush on me?”
“Seriously? Please don’t pretend like you didn’t know. I used to follow you round like a puppy”
Jay’s nose wrinkled in confusion. “I didn’t. I swear. Hell if I had…” he trailed off going back to staring at his hands.
“Jay?”
Biting his lip, he made his mind up about something because he looked back at you with definite determination in his eyes. “I hated Alex since the moment you two started dating, want to know why?”
“Why?”
“I was jealous. Furiously jealous”
“Jealous” it was your turn for confusion to cover your face. “Jealous of what?”
“Of him, of him and you together”
“Oh…”
Hesitantly Jay reached out his hand to take your own linking your fingers together. “You weren’t the only one with a crush Y/N”
Well that took the metaphorical wind right out of your sails. You’d honestly had no idea that Jay liked you as anything more than a friend. Something warm settled in your stomach and like a giddy teenager butterflies fluttered in your chest. Then, you really processed what he’d said and that fire was rapidly put out.
“Weren’t, past tense”
You hadn’t framed it as a question but Jay obviously took it as one. Slowly, giving you all too much time to change your mind Jay put his arm around your waist pulling you across the bed and into his body.
“Not so past” he whispered with his face close to yours. “Yours?”
“Present. Very present”
With a smirk on his face that you used to see directed at every girl other than you Jay closed the final few inches between you and kissed you. Mouth moving over your own and sending tingles down all your limbs. Jesus the man could kiss.
“Well about fucking time” You jumped away from Jay like a guilty teenager finding Will stood in the doorway with a grin on his face you really didn’t like. “And it only took Y/N getting shot for you to finally man up and tell her Bro”
“Shut up” Jay hissed.
“And hey, I won’t have to listen to her moan about you anymore”
“Shut up Will” you snapped as well.
Will just laughed leaving you alone once again as you and Jay turned back to face each other. Embarrassing, yes, but at least Will had a point. It had taken a gunshot but you and Jay had finally admitted how’d you felt since you were teenagers.

A Video To My Future Wife - Colby Brock x Reader
Colby set the camera up, taking a minute to gather his thoughts.
“Hey guys, as you can tell by the title, this isn’t a normal video. Remember a few years ago when Sam and I made videos for each other to look back on when we’re older? Well this is another one of those. Kind of. But today, I’m going to make this for you. And for Y/n. The love of my life. The most beautiful human I’ve ever met, both inside and out.”
Colby ducked his head, smiling at how giddy he was to finally share you with the world. “A lot of you are very confused right now, I know. And I’m sorry. I’ve kept this part of my life off of YouTube for well over a year now and honestly? I don’t regret it one bit. It’s been the happiest year of my life so far. I know in my heart she’ll continue to make me my happiest self until literally one of us ceases to exist on this earth. I hope I die first because I don’t want to think about a life without her.”
Colby sighed, looking past the camera for a moment before cracking a smile. “If Y/n were home right now, she’d scold me for being so morbid. She doesn’t like when I talk about dying. She’d pull me into her arms, start listing reasons why it’s a waste of life to think about death. On my more stubborn emo days, she clings to me like a koala. Not a word of a lie. She’ll wrap her arms and legs around me and just talk. She once made it to like reason #56 that she thought I was adorable before I finally agreed to shower and leave the apartment. There’s no escaping the infectious joy she has inside her. I have yet to meet a single person who isn’t happier around her. I know a lot of you guys freak out whenever you hear dating rumors about me or see me with a female friend, but guys...you’re going to fucking love Y/n. So much. A handful of you guys already know her and I want to specifically thank you for keeping our secret. I’m just waiting for the photos you guys took with us to spread like wildfire now that it’s out in the open.”
Colby smiled, pulling out his phone to look at a picture the two of you had taken with a group of fans. “I’ll put this picture up on the screen so you can actually see it, but do you see this goober right here in the skeleton onesie? That’s y/n. You’re probably wondering why we’re all in our pajamas with a bunch of fans…Well that’s just a tiny glimpse into how kindhearted, selfless, and loving this girl is. We met a family one day while we were out. The two daughters and their friends happened to be fans of Sam and I. While I sat and talked to the girls for a minute, Y/n was sitting talking to their mom. Turns out these two girls had been through quite a rough year. The mom said that YouTube was what really kept them going. Y/n exchanged numbers with the mom and over the next few months kept in touch with the two girls. When the older sister’s birthday rolled around, Y/n had an idea. She talked with the mom and set up a little surprise movie night so that we could celebrate with the girls and their friends we had met with them. Her and Kat went out and got these goofy onesies for everyone, loads of snacks, games... Sam, Kat, Y/n, and I showed up and surprised them. It was awesome. Better than any Trap House party we’ve ever thrown.” Colby laughed.
Colby stared at the picture for a few seconds before locking his phone and putting it back in his pocket. “At this point, I already thought that I loved her. I was already convinced I had found my forever…but seeing her take time out of her insane schedule to go above and beyond to love on two random fans…When I tell you I was in awe of her, I mean it. I was a blushing, sweaty palmed, nervous boy. All night. The girl’s dad even pulled me to the side to whisper a ‘you’ve got it bad, kid’ to me.” Colby’s cheeks blushed with a hint of pink.
“And honestly? I have no fucking clue why she puts up with me.” Colby laughed. “I’m indecisive and clingy and moody. I can’t keep a schedule to save my life. I always need to be in control or I’m anxious or bail. And I never ever ever put my shoes away. I can’t tell you how many times Y/n has tripped trying to leave our kitchen because even though she’s asked me 200 times not to, I still leave my shoes right in the middle of the walkway. Yet every single day I find a new little note that she’s left me. Sometimes two or three on bad days. Actually, you know what? Be right back…”
Colby moved across the room to grab a photo-box full of papers. “Look at these.” He said, tipping the box to show you how full it was. He started reading some of them off. “Seeing you smile is my favorite way to start my day” “Your friends love you” “Your laughter is contagious” “You bring people joy” “Your ass looked great in those jeans last night” He laughed at that one, reading out one last note. “Strip away all of your fame and money and looks and what do you have left? The most accepting, honest, encouraging, and loving heart I’ve ever had the privilege of holding.” He stared at the piece of paper for a second before shrugging his shoulders and staring off into the other room. “Like I said, I have no clue what I did to deserve her.”
He moved to put the box back where he got it from and sat back down on the bed. “I know that a lot of you don’t like change. I know she’s going to get hate comments about loads of shit that either isn’t true or doesn’t matter. But do you want to know the truth? Neither of us care.” He smiled and shrugged his shoulders. “We aren’t worried. We’re happy. And God does it feel good to say that because throughout my YouTube career, the amount of times I’ve been able to say that with a straight face are far and few between. Something to know before you start writing that shitty hateful comment…Y/n is never ever going to reply to you with hate. It doesn’t matter how mean you are to her. It’s just not in her. She’s too loving. She’ll probably apologize that you feel the way you feel and then treat you with perfect kindness. She goes out of her way to build people up. So, remember that before you’re too quick to try and tear her down.”
Colby heard the apartment door open and made a wide eyed ‘oh shit’ face at the camera. “Hey, baby! Are you home?”
“In here!” Colby called.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” She apologized, seeing that she had interrupted him filming.
“Don’t worry.” Colby smiled up at her, reaching his arms out to invite her to sit on his lap for a moment. “I’ll just edit it out. What’s up?”
“This girl just moved in right above us and I want to go help her get settled. Her friend bailed on her and we have that bottle of red wine we’re never going to drink. Do you mind if I grab some snacks and the wine and go help her?” She asked, pressing a kiss to Colby’s cheek.
“Of course, I don’t mind, babe.” He slipped his arms tighter around her and kissed her lips. “I’ll text you when I’m done to see if you guys need help with anything heavy.”
“You’re too good to me.” She said, sliding off of his lap.
“I love you!” Colby called out after her, hearing her pack a bag full of snacks and grab the wine.
“I love you more!” he heard her call back. The apartment door closing behind her.
“I’m definitely not editing any of that out.” Colby laughed, looking back at the camera. “But do you see what I mean? That was a perfect example. One of like a thousand I could share. She so effortlessly walks into people’s lives and does whatever she can to help them.”
“I just realized you guys have no clue how we met.” Colby shook his head, laughing to himself. “So, you know those overnight videos we do with TFIL? Well we were once again being complete idiots and trying to sneak into this massive indoor sports arcade type place. Everyone had hidden except for me and I was about to get caught. I had climbed over this massive basketball free-throw cage thing and I was going to drop down behind it when the manager of the arcade started walking towards his office…right next to where I was hanging. This girl and I made eye contact and she recognized who I was. She obviously knew what I was up to. She started to laugh but quickly realized I was about to get caught. When the Manager went to step by her, she ‘stumbled’ into him and pretended to faint. Throwing in an ‘I don’t feel good’ right before hitting the ground for good measure. Her distraction gave me enough time to drop down behind the machine. When I peeked through the bars, I saw her ‘wake up’ and ask the manager if he could show here where the ski ball was like nothing had happened.” Colby snorted rolling his eyes. “She wasn’t the best actress on the planet, but she sure as hell had my attention. I spent the whole night annoying the rest of the guys trying to figure out how to find her and thank her. Talk to her. Turns out, it was easier than I thought. When we finally left at like 5 am, there was a little torn piece of paper tucked under my windshield wiper that said ‘you’re welcome’ and her phone number. Needless to say, I didn’t go to bed. I ended up meeting her at a diner where we talked so long, we ate both breakfast and lunch before parting ways. I’m usually a listener, you know? I know people see me in videos and think I’m crazy and loud 24/7, but I’m honestly usually the shy quiet kid sitting in the corner, people watching, and hoping no one notices me. But when I sat in that diner…I couldn’t shut up. It’s like she was pulling words out of me. I felt very…comfortable.”
Colby looked to be thinking about something for a moment, a soft smile on his face. “This video is partially for her and partially for you guys. I wanted to be able to introduce her before she just randomly started showing up in pictures or in videos. I didn’t want rumors about me ‘maybe’ dating her. I kind of wanted to spill my guts and talk about her to you guys because she’s the most important person in my life. And she doesn’t let me dote on her much, so I figured this was a good way to get it all out” he couldn’t help but smile. “I know you guys are going to love her. I know it. And I know she already loves all of you. It’s going to take her some time to get used to all of the attention, but I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to share her with you.”
“Y/n.” He faced the camera, speaking directly to her. “It would be impossible to list all of the things you’ve changed in my life. I know it sounds sappy as shit, but when poets say weird stuff like ‘the trees just looked different after meeting her’ I get it, now. It makes total sense to me. It’s like you reached down deep to the worst parts of me, shined a light on them, and loved me anyways…and I will never be able to actually explain how much I love you…But I will spend the rest of my life trying.”

Yo, I just read your Haynette fanfic, and I gotta say, I'm impressed with what you've written. Would you mind making another one of this couple? They're super cute together, and I feel like they're the most "normal" couple in KH since they're just two teenagers who live normal lives in comparison to the other KH characters. How about a Part 2 where Pence finds out about the 3 a.m. meeting, and starts coaching Hayner on what to do in relationships (with copious amounts of teasing, of course). 😋
Hey there, Anon! Sorry it took me such a hot minute to get to this; this last year has been crazy for me, as you can imagine. But, at long last, here is your Haynette story! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write for one of my favorite Kingdom Hearts rarepairs <3

3 a.m. Musings and Cherry Lip Gloss Part II
Before you read, here’s Part I!
Hayner groaned loudly as the persistent chirping of his alarm clock finally bled through his feather pillow down into his eardrum. While using one hand to press the soft, downy pillow further against his head, his other blindly slapped at his nightstand. After his palm thumped uselessly against the wood a few times, displacing a few knickknacks, candy wrappers, and coins, he finally smashed the snooze button. He groaned miserably again, burying his face into his mattress as he clung to the last shreds of sweet, sweet sleep. As he smacked his lips, the succulent taste of cherries bloomed across his tongue.
“Oh my gosh!” he cried, jerking upright in bed with owlish eyes. His pillow sailed across his bedroom to smack into his dresser, shaking the framed posters and other baubles crammed on its top surface. Still bleary from sleep, Hayner’s hands rummaged nonsensically through his sheets and comforter a few times in search of his phone until he realized it was sitting on his nightstand. He snatched it up, using muscle memory to pull up Pence’s contact information to dial his number.
“Yello?” the cheery boy answered quickly.
“Pence! Hey! I got something important to talk to you about! Get your butt over here!” Hayner screeched into the phone. As he crawled across his bed, his foot became tangled in the linens; when he tried to step off, his leg lurched back and he face-planted into the carpet. He heard Pence hiss at the very loud thump Hayner’s body made as it hit the floor. “Agh… Just get here, man!”
“All right, all right, I’m coming! I’m getting milkshakes.”
“What? No, I don’t have time for—” His stomach yowled ardently, making the words die in his throat. Groaning, he smacked his forehead down against the floor. “Chocolate, please…”
“Roger that!” Pence quipped before ending the call. Hayner dropped his phone down onto the carpet, just continuing to lay there with one of his legs still trapped in the blankets and reclined up over his body. He swiped his tongue gingerly across his bottom lip again; yep, faint as it was, there was the saccharine flavor of cherry lip gloss. His cheeks heated with a fierce blush.
“I… kissed Olette…” he whispered. A giddy smile spread across his face, pulling on his cheeks until they ached a little. However, after a brief blip of dreamy euphoria, reality came crashing down, as did his stupid grin. Hayner had kissed Olette. He had confessed to Olette. Gasping, he snatched his phone back up to check his notifications— specifically, his text messages with Olette. A quick review of the conversation confirmed that they had in fact snuck out at 3 a.m., and unless he had blacked out on the road somewhere and had a strangely realistic fever dream, that meant everything in the Secret Hideout had also occurred.
“Oh, man,” he groaned anxiously, fisting his tousled honey-blond hair. “What am I gonna do now?” Should he text her? No. No, that was stupid! Hayner would make a great big fool of himself for sure. No, he needed advice, advice from a smart person— and Pence was the smartest guy he knew. Surely Pence would know what to do.
He plopped the phone back down before melting back onto the floor. If he was lucky, the molecules of his body would blend with the fibers of the carpet, turning him into a puddle of goo so he could avoid this situation. That did not happen. Instead, Pence found him still lying there after tromping up the stairs, following a jovial exchange with Hayner’s parents, of course.
“Man. You weren’t kidding when you said you needed to talk,” the brunet said and took a loud sip of his milkshake— cookies and cream, probably. In reply, Hayner released a frustrated scream that vibrated the floor as the carpet muffled it. Pence clicked his tongue reassuringly as he rolled Hayner’s computer chair over and plopped down, his chest pressed against the leather back and his legs hanging over the sides. “Come now, talk to Pence,” he crooned as he set the milkshake down next to Hayner’s head.
Hayner just groaned again and rolled onto his side so he could drown his anxieties in sweet, thick, sugary chocolate milkshake. He sucked the chunky concoction through the straw for two minutes straight before popping his lips off of it. His stomach whirled as the last dregs of cherry lip gloss slipped in, making a flavor reminiscent of chocolate-covered cherries. Should he provide context?
Nah, better to rip it off like a bandage.
“I kissed Olette.”
“You did what?!” Pence spluttered. He had unfortunately been drinking his milkshake at the time, leading to him spitting it out all over his front. He scowled as he scrubbed at his face and shirt. “Dude! Are you serious?!”
“Yeah, I’m serious! Do you think I would joke about something like that?” Hayner reported hotly as he pushed his upper body up with his arm. Pence sighed deeply and pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his half-empty milkshake cup with the other hand.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait… Tell me the whole story…”
So Hayner did. As he explained it, taking long, stressed sips of his shake in-between, Pence listened intently. He pinched the end of his chin and nodded his head sagely, and when things got especially good, he took a long drag of his cookies and cream shake. By the time Hayner finished, the other boy was scraping at the bottom of the styrofoam cup to scoop ice cream chunks out with the straw.
“So this morning you woke up and now you have no idea what your relationship with her is gonna be like?”
“Exactly!” Hayner cried and slapped his hand down into the carpet. He followed by thunking his head down again. “Ugh, man… I should’ve known better. I’m too stupid in the early hours of the morning.”
“You certainly do lose all common sense. Remember the time we stayed up for the new year and you tried to steal one of the trams?” Pence chuckled. Hayner rolled his head to glare at him from underneath one of his golden strands of hair. “Right, not helpful,” Pence said, adjusting himself in the computer chair. “Now then, do you like her?”
“Uh, yeah. I wouldn’t have kissed her if I didn’t.”
“Look, man, I’m no judge. People do what they do,” Pence shrugged while waving a hand placatingly. Hayner rolled his eyes and shoved his face back down into the carpet. He should have stayed in bed; dust bunnies and crumbs were definitely not a good substitute for soft sheets. “Anyway, so then, do you want to date her?”
Hayner could feel his face flush so hot that it was a wonder that the heat didn’t singe the carpet fibers. Despite his immense embarrassment, he didn’t have the urge to refuse; even doing so defensively seemed sacrilegious. As his face continued to burn, he meekly spoke into the carpet, “Yeah… I do…”
“Then date her!” Pence exclaimed, making Hayner jerk violently in surprise. The blond pushed himself up onto his forearms to see that his friend had thrown up his arms in exasperation. “What’s the problem, man? It’s pretty clear to me that Olette likes you back, considering she didn’t slap you silly when you planted one on her.”
Hayner pursed his lips dourly. Pence made it sound so simple as if girls weren’t complex beings, like the inner machinations of their minds weren’t complete enigmas. Could it be that simple? Frowning, Hayner pushed himself into a seated position, crossing his legs and slumping over a little as he took out his phone again. As he pulled up his chat history with Olette, he found a goofy smile worming on his face just seeing her name.
Before he could talk himself out of it, he shot her a message that simply said, Good morning.
The bubble with three little dots popped up immediately, followed by a cheerful, Good morning! I hope you finally got some sleep~ Hayner leaned back a little as his smile widened, a warm and fuzzy feeling bubbling up inside of him to spread from his toes to the crown of his head. Pence, realizing that his work was done, strolled out of the room to call down to Hayner’s mother and ask what was for breakfast. Rather than text a response, Hayner took it as Pence’s silent demand to put on his big boy britches, so he hit the call button.
It only rang once before Olette’s curious voice chimed on the other line, “Hello?”
“Hey, Olette.”
“Hey.” He could hear the coquettishness in her voice; she was probably lying on her belly in her bed with her ankles crossed, twirling a lock of her bouncy brunette hair around her finger. “So, um… Last night…”
“Yeah,” Hayner gulped, turning to lean against his bedframe as he nervously scratched at the back of his neck. “Last night.” A silence fell between them. Hayner felt like a balloon was swelling in his chest, stretching him to the point of bursting. Unable to take the tension, he decided to burst the bubble himself. “I hope you know that wasn’t just 3 a.m. delirium— me kissing you,” he said, blushing at how silly it sounded.
“I hope you know that kissing you back wasn’t delirium, either,” Olette giggled girlishly. Hayner melted against his bed in relief; if she was joking so casually about it, then perhaps he really had been freaking out over nothing. Olette grew silent on the other end of the line again, but he knew her well enough to know that she was chewing on the inside of her cheek thoughtfully.
Hayner drummed his fingers nervously on the floor, trying to find an eloquent way to ask her out. Instead, impatience got the better of him and he blurted, “So you wanna be my girlfriend?”
He turned beet red as she snorted in laughter on the other end of the line, momentarily panicking. Did I misread the situation? I couldn’t have, right?!
“Sorry!” Olette hastily said though she was suppressing giggles. “Sorry, that was just— that was really cute.” Hayner never, ever thought he would think fondly of being referred to as “cute,” but he’d be damned if he didn’t admit that it made his heart flutter in his chest. “Anyway, I would love to be your girlfriend, Hayner.”
“Great!” he exclaimed, unable to control the extreme burst of happiness that shot through him. Once he realized he’d said it aloud— evidenced by Olette laughing again— his face turned a deep burgundy color. “I-I-I-I mean, um, great. Um. Would you… like to come over for breakfast at my place, then?” He smacked his forehead immediately after. What was he thinking? It wasn’t romantic to have breakfast with his parents and Pence around! God, he needed smooth 3 a.m. Hayner back. Luckily, Olette was too sweet for her own good.
“Sure! Your mom makes the best pancakes.”
“Pancakes! Right!” Hayner jumped up, slipping and sliding on his carpet as he tried to scramble to the door so he could shout at his mom to make pancakes. He relaxed when she called affirmation (and demanded he tell Olette she said hello). Smiling wryly, Hayner turned around to lean against the hallway wall. He chuckled lightly as he threaded his fingers through his wavy blond tresses, still blushing a carnation pink. “Um… See you when you get here, then.”
“See you soon, Hayner,” she said, and the warmth in her tone made Hayner melt against the wall in adoration. He continued to hold the phone up to his ear even after she hung up, smiling dreamily as if it made him closer to her somehow. He finally lowered it when Pence came tromping up the stairs, chewing on a cereal bar.
“So?”
All it took was Hayner’s big grin and Pence exclaimed excitedly. “All right! Good for you guys, man!” he said as he sauntered over, doing a happy dance for Hayner’s benefit. The taller boy laughed and gave Pence a high-five, then looked adoringly down at Olette’s contact information. After a moment of consideration, he smirked and hit the edit button to add a heart and a lip gloss Emoji to her name. Pence peeked over his shoulder, then laughed dryly and punched Hayner in the shoulder. “Man, you’re such a sap already.”
“Shut up,” Hayner laughed and shoved him in the side of his head before stowing his phone. “Which one of us is single?”
“Bro! You were single, like, two minutes ago!”
“Keyword: were,” Hayner teased as he flashed him a wink. Pence groaned, muttering something about how he should’ve just ignored Hayner’s phone call, while the blond sauntered to the bathroom to do his hair. As he wrangled his locks into submission, he licked his lips again, smiling widely at the faint taste of cherry still lingering there.
Maybe 3 a.m. Hayner had some sense after all.

Sycamore High: Ted Fest (Chapter 5)
A/N: also known as the favorite chapter I have written. I hope you enjoyed cause I worked hard on this oof. Please leave comments, I would really appreciate it!
summary: Like a Ted Talk but its just Ted... talking :)
words: 2418 (oops)
warnings: Swearing, Bad Dad, Ted, food fight
Ao3 link
“Satan is a real man” Ted announces over the loudspeaker, the hallways erupt into cheers, Brian Holden sheds a single tear from his hellscape.
~~~~
Softly, Ted reminds himself. He tiptoes up the stairs listening to the growing anger coming from the kitchen. It's late on Sunday, his parents have just returned home. He makes his way across the hall and opens his door, locking it quietly once he is safely inside. He sighs annoyed, nothing can drown out the yelling, all Ted can do is listen. He reaches for his headphones but pauses when he hears his name enter the conversation. Should I open it? He thinks, he takes a moment but his curiosity controls him. He slightly cracks the door and put his ear in the hallway.
“You have never shown any love or respect for me or Ted!” He hears his mother shout, pain oozes out of her voice.
“Well maybe if either of you did something to deserve it! And maybe if Ted wasn’t such a fucking disappointment!” Ted bites his lip, don't say anything, stay quiet. The arguing continues, Ted shuts his door in the angriest but soft way possible and decides that was enough for tonight. Ted moves over towards his bed and lets the music drift into his dreams as he sleeps.
~~~~
“Good Morning parental figure,” Ted says approaching his mother in a t-pose stance.
“Good morning problem child,” Ted's mother says sighing not looking up from her coffee. Ted laughs approaching the table to where his mother sat. He examines the kitchen and grabs some coffee.
“No, dad?” Ted asks sipping the bitter drink. His mother shakes her head, fuck yeah, Ted thinks. He throws together some lunch before he kisses his mother goodbye and heads towards the bus stop. He gets distracted by a light buzz in his pocket. He reaches for his phone and reads:
FU: I'm picking you up, need help
SB: A’ight, what's new pussycat?  With one ‘It's not unusual’ slipped in, Ted thinks. He smiles smugly and waits on the steps of his door for Paul.
“I need food” Ted whines stepping into the passenger seat of Paul's car, Paul rolls his eyes and gives him a look. “Look, its either I get food, or I jump out of this car and say you pushed me” Ted claims.
“Ted, please don't jump out of the car” A soft voice comments from the backseat, Ted quickly turns to be met with a very worried Bill. Ted gives him a reassuring look before turning back to Paul.
“Food or I jump” Ted says in a whisper, he doesn't want to worry Bill but he was hungry.
“Do it, you coward” Paul mumbles starting the car. Ted pouts before turning his attention to the road, they drive at a steady pace passing houses and shops. It was all fine until Ted spots the beautiful shining wonder of the McDonalds. Its a newly renovated, functional ice cream machine, piece of art. Ted feels his mouth water and he turns to Paul with pleading eyes. Paul ignores him, he is left with no choice.
“McDonald's! McDonald's! McDonald's!” Ted chants, he prays this will work. He turns to Bill whose face turns from confusion to understanding of his friends need.
“They have food at school,” Bill says, he gives a soft smile full of pride. Ted nods before turning to Paul, last piece of the puzzle, buddy, come on. Paul glares at both of them before he gives in. The urge to complete the trifecta is just too much, he pulls into the McDonalds drive-in and orders a single black coffee. Ted cries with happiness, this was it, he could die happy. Paul pays and drives into the parking lot to situate himself.
“You're so fucking stupid Ted” Paul says, exhaustion and annoyance fills his voice
“The only stupid I’m fucking, is you” Ted replies without thinking. The car goes silent for a moment.
“I hope you know that I hate you” Paul says after a while, Ted gains a smile
“I know, I love you too” He plasters on the fakest smile he can
“I love you guys too” Bill whispers from the backseat, Paul and Ted can't help but smile at him, Paul finishes his coffee and they continue towards school.
~~~~
“So what did you need help with?” Ted asks as the boys walk towards their lockers. Bill was reading through the halls, so Ted was on walking duty. He makes sure Bill doesn’t knock into anyone and hurt himself. They approach a crowded area, Ted grabs Bills shoulders and swerves him to avoid a collision as he continues his conversation with Paul.
“Well I really screw up with-” Paul cuts himself off as they reach their lockers. Two girls wait by the locker, normally this would excite Ted, however they look mad. “Emma” Paul says surprised. Bill looks up adjusting his glasses, he tucks his book into his bag. The 5 of them stand in awkward silence surrounding the locker. Paul shifts his feet, averting gaze towards the ground.
“Y’all going to area 51?” Ted asks finally, he gives them all an expectant look. Bill suppresses a laugh, Paul groans in annoyance, and the girls give him a very confused look. He sighs, he was just too funny for this cruel world. He rolls his eyes before nudging Paul, dude say something.
“Emma I'm really sorry, I got caught up and-” Paul starts he looks at his friends for help, Bill was already back to reading his book, Ted simply shrugs. “I slept in late, I feel awful please let me make it up to you” The shorter one looks at Paul. The other girl glares at the boys, clearly, that was not a natural expression for her. She’s cute Ted thinks, he averts his eyes towards a commotion in the hall. So is he, Ted thought looking at the boy causing the commotion. He was wearing glasses and suspenders, he raced through the halls timidly holding some kind of hot liquid. Ted's eyes grow wide and he shakes his head returning to the conversation.
“It was really embarrassing Paul, a bunch of kids from school were there, I waited for hours,” Emma says, her face flushes bright pink. “It really sucked, ok?” Paul nods sympathetically, he struggles for words.
“I- just” He sighs “How do I make it up to you” He repeats. Emma takes a moment to think, she shrugs.
“I don't know” She admits
“I do” Ted chimes in. Everyone including Ted is taken aback by this participation. He collects himself and continues on “You were embarrassed right?” He says towards Emma, she gives a slow, confused nod “Well then all we need to do is embarrass Paul” Paul's face grows in horror, Emma's face, however, gains a sly smile.
“What's the plan, tall man?” She says immediately regretting her life choices. (same Emma)
~~~~
Bill gives the all-clear with a very disapproving look. Paul and Ted clean up their lunches and make their way out of the cafeteria. Ted clutches to the walls, sneaking through the empty corridors 007 style. Paul walks. Like a normal human. Fucking useless, Ted thinks. Finally, they reach the main office, greeted by Emma and Emma’s friend, Charlotte. Ted nods and the girls go into the office, shortly followed by Ted and Paul. The girls go up to the receptionist and begin their distraction, having a full out meltdown. Ted and Paul make their way past the receptionist and peek into the principal's office, all clear must be having lunch. They open the door slightly and shut it once safe inside. Ted looks at Paul expectantly and points to the intercom.
“You know what you have to do” He says, Paul gives him a very concerned look, or he’s constipated. Paul clears his throat and pulls out a crumpled piece of paper and looks it over, his face goes through one too many emotions. He gives Ted a very shocked and disgusted look but Ted just laughs. Paul sighs and makes his way over to the desk, he sits completely defeated and pushes the button to talk. He puts on his most monotone voice, emotion has no place here.
“If I could do anything I think I would… shrink myself to the size of a mouse. I’d leave the world of men behind me forever, and live amongst the mice.” He starts, every ounce of dignity is drained from him. The words ooze into the halls and echo through the school. Ted squeals (yes squeals) with glee “And I would bring technology and art to those uncultured swine. And I would build tiny tools for their mouse hands made from toothpicks and marshmallows. And I would be their king, NAY, their prince. PAUL MATTHEWS THE MOUSE PRINCE! Ruling from my grand castle inches high, carved from the finest cheeses. And there I would dwell with my three mouse wives, and my twelve mouse concubines. (Laughs).” You don't say ‘laughs’ you asshole, Ted thinks “Oh, but the wars we’d have with the frogs, terrible, just terrible. Those metal mice warriors, the atrocities they’ve seen. Yes, that is my dream… My secret dream.” He finishes, shame is written all over his face. He turns to Ted who is beaming with pride. He stops pressing the button and his words, nay monologue, nay work of art bless the school. The students can be heard, confusion races through them, laughter sets in. Paul quickly rushes out of the office followed by a very giddy Charlotte and a more than happy Emma. Ted, however… he stays. He stands for a moment beaming with pride, he eyes the intercom. The principal with be here soon I should go, He thinks. He makes his way to the door but the intercom… it calls to him. He hesitates, but quickly locks the door and sits down. Excitement takes over, he pushes the button.
“Satan is a real man” Ted announces over the loudspeaker, the hallways erupt into cheers, Brian Holden sheds a single tear from his hellscape. Bill nods approvingly from his seat in the cafeteria, chaos sets in. A food fight breaks out, lockers and doors are banged upon, Robert Manion can be felt cowering. Ted looks to the ground, he smiles. This is just what He would have wanted. He takes one last prideful look before exiting the room and joining his friends.
“I can't believe you actually did it!” Emma exclaims actually quite surprised. “How..how did you do it?” She asks
“With the help of my friends,” Pauls says in reply “And Ted”. The group continue their conversation, the voices drown out, all that can be heard is Ted. The camera zooms in, fading to black and white.
They ask you how you are, and you just have to say that you're fine when you're not really fine, but you just can't get into it because they would never understand, Ted thinks. He plans to continue but is quickly brought back by a little nudge.
“You alright Ted?” Bill asks, his eyes wide. Ted sighs dramatically, Bill stares into the camera like he's on The Office. “I liked your monologue you wrote for Paul” Bill reassures him. This brings a sparkle to Ted.
“Um yeah, what the fuck was that” Emma chimes in. Paul shoots her a warning glare but its too late.
“That, as you called it, was my masterpiece” Ted begins, launching into a very dramatic interpretation, which led to an argument between Paul and Ted. The group lets it go on but eventually, Emma cuts them off.
“Ok ok, got it” She sighs rubbing her temples “God it's like the three of you share one brain cell but Bill has it most of the time” She mumbles
“Most of the time?” Ted says “Most oF THE TIME?” He repeats dramatically. “Bold of you to assume he doesn't have it all the time,” Ted says. Bill beams confused. Ted notes they still have time before class begins so they each head their separate ways for food.
~~~~
“So like my whole life, I thought, girls, ya know? No question about it, I like girls. But then, a while back I met this guy, right? He's shy and sweet and so smart. Oh, and you can't tell him I said this because I don't feel that way but it was like he opened a door. I mean I was excited to see him, I would blush every time he talked to me or accidentally touched me. I started thinking things like, he's cute. Which he was but I wasn't one to think about this kind of thing. I don't even think about girls like that. But then I did. I mean I started thinking and noticing things like that left and right, it was becoming a problem. Then the incident happened, the cute guy I mentioned earlier? Just a friend now, best friend but not important. Anyway one day I was having like a hardcore blushing/pining session. My friend is pretty oblivious so I thought he wouldn't notice, and then he didn't… so I was right. But someone else did, this guy approached me during P.E and he was all like ‘I noticed you looking at your friend’ and I was like ‘and what about it’ and then he was like ‘Are you gay?’. So I said ‘no’ you know, like a liar. And that was that, but then I was all like… am I? So this inner turmoil went on for a while but then I fell hard for this girl and I liked it. Wasn't faking it, so now I'm thinking… was it just a phase? Well yes but actually no, This girl and I, didn't work out, but then the other day I'm at the locker with my friends and these two girls. They are arguing over who gives a shit, and I'm just looking at this girl and I'm thinking she's cute. Then I look over at some guy in the hall and now I'm thinking he's cute. So…“ Ted pauses and shrugs “Girls? Boys? Eh, why not both?” He states
“Sir this is a Wendys,” The employee through the drive-thru speaker says. Ted furrows his brow.
“Yeah I know, I said I'll have a barbecue cheeseburger, with a side of baconator fries and a Dr.Pepper” Ted orders his lunch before making his way back to school.
