I made these using a specific context

A while ages ago I drew and posted a drawing of Nightmare and Dream on their light ball form but with some alterations/personal headcanons.

On the post, I expressed my desire to draw the twins in a universe were Nim didn’t need to give them bodies, and just let them grow naturally. And specifically give them an animalistic appearance, instead of a humanoid one like most artist do.

You can see on the process video that it took me 1000 sketches to make something that looked good and I was happy with, the video is obviously sped up, the total time it took me to make this was 28 hours and 15 minutes.

Now explaining some things:

Why are they so big?

I read on a post made by Joku that Nim, before giving them skeleton bodies, tried to make them human ones, but the pure amount of magic and power the twins had made the human bodies explode or some shit. So she picked skeletons since the magic could flow freely through the bones without being confined by muscle and flesh. That made me think if their power had physical forms, it would be gigantic. So I gave them gigantic forms to better represent their status of strength and power, beings made from raw magic to serve as guardians of all emotions throughout the multiverse, of course I needed to make them big and intimidating!

Why the horns?

Artistic design choice, I gave them little horns and a chubby tail in their light ball form to purposefully make them more animalistic, wanted to keep it while making these. Also just giving them a smooth head with nothing much going on looked weird and boring.

Why the draconian look?

Dragons had been created and depicted as symbols of pure power above humanity and worshipped as deities throughout several cultures around the world, different depictions of dragons has been one of the only things present among almost all cultures, like a default folklore creature. While I tried to incorporate other mythical creatures in the design, the draconic body plan felt more right due to the influence of dragons on human beliefs, and their representation as magical and powerful beings beyond human comprehension. Plus I just really love drawing dragons.

Why the clothing choice? Also why is Dream half naked while Nightmare has everything covered?

While designing the clothes for Nightmare, I used as reference clothing that usually royalty would wear, Nightmare has a really big ego and sees himself as a king, so he uses fancy, expensive clothing and jewelry, adapted and designed for his anatomy. Not practical for battle, but his corruption can go through the fabric without damaging it, and most people and monsters just run when they see him, so he doesn’t worry about it getting dirty or tearing, Nightmare just expects every soul to instantly submit when they see him, so he never worries about getting into a battle and getting dirty he has that big of an ego.

Dream is the opposite, his style of clothing much more practical for running, jumping, flying, fighting and general exercise. He has 4 bags in total, 2 on each side, inside them he keeps several items, be it healing food, magical artifacts, first aid kit, gifts he receives, stuff he buys or random things he finds and wants to take home with him. Dream’s crown is now a colar couldn’t figure out how to make it work with the head shape and horns, his cape is from his official design, but changed to white, was planning to make it yellow but when I looked at it my eyes hurt because there was too much yellow everywhere. I made Dream’s clothes with the intent to match his official design, I didn’t to the same for nightmare because a turtle neck with a hoodie on a dragon would make him more huggable than intimidating. Plus I like to think that the leg warmers was a gift from Blue, and the ring on his horn a gift from Ink. Didn’t add more stuff on him because I couldn’t think of something that would look good and match Dream’s vibe, the rest of his clothes on his official design didn’t translate well here. Oh, while I was drawing this, I drew the colar and the leg warmers first, without the cape, Dream looked like a twink with a pet play kink.

Side note; neither Nightmare or Dream see the use of clothes as a necessity or as decency. For them clothes are nothing but pure decoration and to show off status for Nightmare, they can wear full body suits, partial clothing, just jewelry, or nothing at all, which is what they usually go for when at home, wearing or not wearing stuff doesn’t make that much of a difference to them at all.

Do they act as animals or do they have human intelligence?

Despite me using the word “feral” all the time to describe them, they do not actually act as animals. I’m only using “feral” to describe their body/anatomy, Nightmare and Dream are fully sentient and have human level intelligence/awareness. They are capable of speech and have opposable thumbs on their front paws, they can grab, write, hold… do anything a human can do with their hands with dexterity. But they do have to use only hand one at a time, and balance themselves with the other. To use both hands, they have to be sitting, or be supported by something, they can balance themselves on their wings if they have to.

And now contradicting what I just said, they have some animalistic behaviors. The twins can growl, purr and roar. Despite Nightmare being able to use his tentacles and Dream being able to shoot magic arrows out of his wings, they to also scratch and bite while fighting. Since they are big and heavy, they can easily crush bone under their weight and their bite force is strong enough to split someone in half. If you need a reference, just use Smaug from The Hobbit, he has more or less the balance of animal behavior and human intelligence I’m looking for.

Expanding more on this, the twins stretch just like felines, and often sleep in positions usually cats sleep in (they don’t actually need to sleep but do anyway). Dream likes to go fishing, and by fishing I mean jumping in a lake and chasing the fish underwater. He finds it more fun than sitting around and waiting for the fish to come to you instead.

I guess you count their lack of necessity to wear clothes as animal logic too?

So i saw somebody make art of Starscream as a moth and something was awoken inside of me. I present Hollow Knight X Transformers BUGFORMERS!!!! (Or Hollowformers???) Sorry for the shitty sketches, i'll translate my handwriting lmao

Starscream: A Red-Underwing Moth I decided to make all the seekers different moths, have fun with that Megatron: A Black Stag Beetle His armor can be removed, I'll draw it eventually, but under his helmet are small (very sensitive!!!) antennae!!!

Optimus: A Rain Beetle I wanted to make him a dung beetle at first, cause I love the shape of scarab-like beetles but I wanted Bulkhead to be a dung beetle, so I picked my personal favorite type of beetle, the Rain Beetle! Bumblebee: A Bumble bee I think this is obvious.

Arcee: A Blue Dasher Dragonfly She's small, fierce, and fast. I knew a Dragonfly would fit her. Bulkhead: A Rainbow Dung Beetle Bulkhead is a strong, bulky guy, so a strong bulky bug fits him. But I didn't want him to be a plain dung beetle, so I went with the more beautiful, and intimidating type of dung beetle! And its sort of an iridescent green, like our bulky boi. (He also has a second pair of arms he keeps tucked between his armor plating for his safety, but he uses 'em when he needs extra leverage)

Ratchet: A Man-Faced Bug My friend insisted he'd be this kind of bug, and after looking it up, I agree. You can see his face in this bug and I love it. The runner up was a ladybug if you want to do anything with that. Drift: An Idolo mantis I wanted Drift to keep his sort of "intimidating with dexterity" vibes but add a bit more beauty to give that sweetness to his design you see in his character. An Idolo Mantis is that lovely mix of floral beauty and intimidating that I thought would fit perfectly for Drift.

Cyclonus: Spiky Flower Mantis Same deal with Cyclonus but more intimidating. I wanted him to look scary and powerful, but beautiful in an intimidating way, like how he is in the comics. Tailgate: Pill bug (Isopod) Round, sweet, adorable, and one of my favorite bugs. Very useful for the environment and durable, as well as huggable. I think it fits Tailgate pretty well.

Wars knitting plush toys in his spare time and giving them to his brothers. They all drop them off in their homes when they return (they always end up with several between visits). HOWEVER they all have one they keep on themselves at all times. It does not get dropped at their house, it lives in their packs

What kind of plushie do you think each member of the chain would keep in their pack?

He’d ofc make Legend a bunny (because he’d for sure go up to Sky like “hey what dyou think Legend would like?” and Sky is secretly an evil shit and he’d all innocently say “A pink bunny” and Wars would be so confused why Legend reacted the way he did when he gave it to him, but Twi and Sky were dying laughing so he just brushed it off). I think Legend would just be so touched by the fact that Wars made something for him, that little pink bunny would be so important to him

Sky would get a little loftwing, Wars could use one of Sky’s carvings as a reference!

Wind would get a seagull. And he’d carry it around with him until the day he died.

Twi’s gettin’ a goat. A goat army, actually. Wars has made him several and Twi cries every time because they’re so cute and dorky looking. First one Wars made for him was a little uneven and odd looking and Wars almost didn’t give it to him because he felt bad it wasn’t perfect but Twi literally loved it so much it’s his favorite one

The one that Four keeps ON him is one he actually asked Wars for, and it’s a little stuffed Shape. He needed something he could just squeeze that wouldn’t break, and that he could just kinda mess with that wouldn’t end up hurting him, and a soft little squishy Shape was perfect. Wars gave it a little happy face. He’s made Four other actual ANIMALS, but the Shape is the one Four keeps with him

Wild got a blupee, he showed Warriors a picture of one once and Wars was like “i need to make this.” and Wild got super excited. He absolutely adores it, it’s on the bigger side but he stores it in his slate so he doesn’t have to worry about it taking up too much space. INCREDIBLY fuckin’ huggable and very nice for him to just Hold, especially at night

Hyrule I think would appreciate just any little gift any of the others gave him, but his favorite one Wars gave him that he carries around in his bag with him is a little opossum. It has an incredibly silly little face (this is partly inspired by @hero-of-the-wolf’s headcanon he’d be an opossum if he touched twi’s crystal)

Now Time’s is a very fucked up lookin’ horse meant to be Epona that Wars made intentionally hideous as a gag gift, but it is honestly one of Time’s most treasured possessions now. It genuinely means so much to him, and he treats it very gently. Warriors has since made him things that are actually very high quality but nothing will mean as much to Time as that incredibly fucked up looking little Epona (he definitely sticks it on his bedside table and stares at it every night once the journey is over and they’re all back in their own eras)

very small and holdable. depending on the size difference you can just carry him around like its no big deal... feels just like holding a person since his body is human shaped... might have to move your head since his teeths are very large.... solid 9/10 imo

POMNI:

similar to caine thanks to her shape but i think she would be very squishy. she looks like she would be squishy, dont you think? i think its because of her design and her at the beginning trying to take off her headset shows shes kinda squishy n soft... but maybe thats just the digital worlds physics and everyone is like that... she looks like she would squeak if you squeezed her... 8/10 she gets one point off because sometimes the squeezing can be annoying but she cant help it

RAGATHA:

very soft and plush, said several times that i see her as a literal doll so she feels like one of those plush dolls. shes warm, i think... like sure shes a doll but she looks like she would radiate warmth, cant explain why.. like caine and pomni have normal body heats but ragatha is just a touch warmer.. 10/10, would love to cuddle with her and nap

JAX:

not squishy!! but not... hard... like he has a little give if that makes sense. like, normal average skinny person squish, i think. normal body temperature. oddly smooth which can be a little weird since hes a bunny, so you would expect fur... but no hes just smooth. but not smooth like a shaved person, smooth like a weird rubber. weird. 7/10 imagine it gets hot one day and he just. gets sticky. one time we accidentally left my dogs rubber ball out in the heat outside and it got sticky. sticky jax. sticky jax gets a 4/10

KINGER:

very. hard. now we're getting into the characters who arent that huggable, which makes me so sad because i love kinger sm. he cant really hug back. like sure he can hold you in his hands but thats a little different than being able to wrap his arms around you... hes hard, too, being a chess piece... not very warm.. however his robe does a bit to make him softer and a little warmer so its not too totally terrible as long as youre not like. CLINGING onto him... kinger i love you but youre getting a 6/10

ZOOBLE:

see where kinger has some saving grace with his robe, zooble is just. naked. plus i think they would feel like plastic, with the main body being like. solid hard plastic. their limbs are obviously also plastic. its like holding a giant child's toy... very cold, too, the only heat zooble has is the heat that comes from your own body... 3/10 im sorry zooble

GANGLE:

no body heat, but like at least its not hard plastic... but theres hardly anything there... can hold you back but you cant really feel it, like ghost touches pretty much... since gangle is just ribbons, what more did we expect? 4/10, extra point simply because gangle hugs arent as unpleasant as zoobles

Here's some fun facts about EctoScience Vlad:

-I really wanted to give him a dangerous vibe, ghosts can eat other ghosts to grow stronger extremely quickly in this AU and that's partly why he's as strong as he is, the other part being... halfas are just very powerful. Simply. Anyways everyone in the Zone knows and fears him; at the start of the series he's almost a boogeyman of sorts there until Danny starts beating him.

- Vlad didn't have a ghost form at first! His becoming a Halfa actually took a long time due to how it happened, and that's technically how it'll go for Danny too, he's just further along due to his own death being wayyy more violent than Vlad's. The progression into full ghost has slowed down a lot in Vlad's case, but for the reason I just mentioned, Danny's progression is fast.

- The "I hate you!" "You're like me!" Exchange is something I've had in mind since the start. In this AU specifically the circumstances of their "deaths" are extremely similar, but above all Danny fears turning fully into a ghost will make him lose his humanity and turn him evil due to, you know, actually listening to the "all ghosts are evil" bogus his parents believe. Vlad can sense that insecurity and in this AU he latches onto it like a vice to make Danny think him joining Vlad's side is inevitable in the end.

- Yes, he CAN make his cape disappear if it starts getting in his way in a fight, but I would also like to highlight his fire core making him very warm. Cats love him.

- His general behaviour as a ghost has been changed a little, he acts and fights fairly normally at first, but if the fight drags on for too long or his opponent runs away he's going FULL HORROR MOVIE VILLAIN. That first fight in the mansion was a lot longer and made Danny genuinely fear for his life. Let Vlad be MORE unhinged when he's pissed off I say.

Part 1 of the OC lore dump and sketches for my second self-published picture book 256 Postcards Ago under the cut;

When I first decided to make another picture book I wanted the entire thing to be done as pixelart because this story was very inspired by videogames that were important to me. I realized early on this would be a nightmare to print and dropped the idea. Here's the pixelart cover!

My biggest inspiration for the book was Majora's Mask which features one boy transforming into 3 different shaped characters. I started to play with the idea of imaginary friends and it bloomed from there.

A couple of locations in the book were also loosely inspired by Majora like the rainbow observatory and tunnels under the town. Nothing too significant but enough that I wanted to mention them.

I based the protagonist on Juni from the Spy Kids movies and his robot bug R.A.L.P.H! I really love those movies and I wanted to see more adventures between the two so Nicholas and Digit were born.

Ollie the elephant cloud was a little inspired by Kirby but mostly I just wanted a third friend who was bigger but still looked huggable and a cloud animal felt right.

In the book there is one female friend is called Ludo. Her name comes from a board game I used to play with my family. I also really love Egyptian designs and based her head on Anubis. Here's some early logo designs too.

Ludo's hourglass represents the time that Nicholas still believes in his imaginary friends, this is also where the title comes from. He has many adventures with these friends which he narrates via postcards. In 256 more postcards from this story he will have grown up.

The postcard the story is based on appears at the beginning of the book and is written by 'Ludo'. At this point Nicholas believes Ludo is real because they've been sending postcards but at the books' end you see his father is the one who has been writing them all along.

Just like the father from Hurricane Lane's appearance was based on an actor from BBC's Merlin so was the father here; this time Arthur. I wanted the two dads to meet someday and become fast friends. The mother isn't shown or mentioned but she passed away young.

Nicholas' dad owns a hotel called Shrublands and his shop sign might look familiar too. The character currently checking in at the counter is my best friends OC who was an amazing support to me whilst making these books. Just a fun cameo!

I also just wanted to take this moment to show the amazing work my friend Lil-Samuu created! She made me little plushies of Ollie and Digit and a hat and scarf Digit as well!!

Author Note— This is my first try at Atticus, not sure if I’ll do more. Depends on the feedback i guess but he's fun

1. Contrary to what many may think with how busy he is and his dedication to his team, training and things alike. Atticus is a very attentive lover; Especially when it comes to the small details about you. He’s quick to notice anything new you’ve bought or worn around him for the first time be it your shirt, hat, gloves, right down to any accessories or jewellery if you’re the type to enjoy that. His attentiveness to the small details might be easily brushed off as his incredible fashion sense, however he does much more then just that.

2. Atticus has a memory unrivalled to any you’ve ever met before, he knows all your little habits and remembers all the things you’ve claimed as a favourable item, place or action. On particularly hard times or days he is always right by your side with something among your many likes to offer some kind of happiness in the hard moment. No matter what it is, a small snack you love, a warm blanket for comfort, taking you to places you enjoy to calm down; he remembers them all for you.

3. Being very good with his hands comes with more skills then what you might have expected, he’s the creative type with any and everything although fabric is certainly his speciality. Atticus loves to spend his free time making things for you, when you’re asleep in his arms or by his side he refuses to leave and waits patiently for you to wake; spending his time sewing or trying his hand at other crafts such as knitting he usually ends up making you small wearable or huggable items. Decorative bracelets, charms for your bag and even going as far to spend several weeks on making you plush toys in the shape of your beloved pokemon, doing so without you managing to catch him until he wants you to.

4. Given his background Atticus can be a little jumpy and picky with touch in general from anyone, though with you he simply melts into your hands immediately. You can grab him just about whenever you like and he never minds, he tends to know you’re there long before you actually manage to sneak up on him but he sometimes plays it off for you to see you smile.

5. He particularly enjoys when you do simple things for him, holding his hands, cupping his face softly, pressing your forehead to his. The small actions have his heart beating a thousand times a second, a sure way to have his cheeks warm and ears tipped with red is offer small gestures suddenly, for no reason other then you want to do it, paint his nails for him, brush back his hair, help him tie down the back of his clothing, helping him wash out any dirt from tough to deal with fabric. Atticus is all about the little things.

6. Although his way of speaking is very formal and at times a little hard to decipher immediately, he’s patient with you and isn’t at all against teaching you the meaning behind his words. He’s very sweet and understanding when it comes to his speech patterns; if you express wanting to learn more to better understand him he absolutely adores it. Wanting to learn about the things he does, his reasoning, anything at all regarding what makes him who he is will absolutely make his day no matter how difficult it had been for him.

7. Atticus is someone who plays very fairly with any thing, be it battles or even board games. He takes a loss with pride and strives to learn from it, although its always in a friendly competition when it comes to you; he progressively becomes harder and harder to beat until he almost topples you over. For one reason or another though he rarely ever actually does it, generally tending to back away before you fall defeated before him. Your smile and joyful victorious laughter are always worth losing for.

The cartoony personification of the glamrocks seen in game is SO GOOD and I wished Freddy and Monty's robotic counterparts shared those body types because we deserve chonky Freddy and it would highlight Monty's top-heaviness even more. Rather than boy=inverted triangle, girl=thin, it would be boy=anything, girl=...thin.

I also wish Chica and Roxy had different body types, but we're talking here rn about an animatronic who's shown in promo material in-universe with a different body type that would make him honestly more unique.

I understand his space hero theme and that's why his body shape is top-heavy, but the rectangular body in the cartoons is just so cute and fits his personality so well... HE'S the stable reliable huggable hero of the story! He deserves it! Also more space for a child like Gregory to comfortably fit in his stomach hatch without me wondering how he's not being crushed every time he gets in. Or... for oversized birthday cakes and piñatas. Watching my first playthough I thought Freddy had to be HUGE or Gregory TINY for him to fit in there comfortably, but no. I still don't get it tbh.

OH AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON BONNIE. Did ALL the guy glamrocks HAVE to be inverted triangles? HE WAS YOUR CHANCE TO EXPERIMENT WITH BODIES!!! Disappointed in you, Fazbear Entertainment. They really need Henry ASAP for design consultation.

(honestly, Roxy and Chica don't bother me as much because Foxy has always been the thinner of the bunch (in... one way or another, looking at Mangle) and Roxy is... well. Girl Foxy if she were a wolf instead. I'd make her shoulders a bit bigger personally, though, since I think it would fit her 'confident' biker character. And Chica... she's had a lot of variations over the years that play with her body type, and it makes sense for her theme and character in SB that she's got a more stereotypical girly-thin look.)

But anyway. More representation of rectangle glamrock Freddy. Pls thankk youuu.

FNAF characters review!

Bonnie

They did my boy very charming and nice! Love the vibrant colours! He’s so goofy I love it XD

I get why some people don’t like that he’s blue. But I’m obsessed with it! His head shape is just perfect!

Bonnie was always my favorite so I’m super happy about his design! His guitar is so cool as well! Love the shinyness and the vibrant red!

Freddy!

I really like his colour palette as well! He looks really huggable and fluffy! They did his head the right shape as well! He is still our nice fella !

He’s just perfect!

His clothes has more texture and I love it!

Chica

Love the fact that she still has her little feathers on her head! Very cute!

Also! They did her eyes a little bit uneven just like in the games! She has a loose eye so it’s really nice seeing it in the movie also! Her head shape is as it was in the games also.

Foxy

The first thing I saw with his design is he’s little fluffs on the sides and one his shoulders! It’s just so perfectly done!

The red is so vibrant as well! The holes are in the right places and the right sizes! It’s so perfect! Compared to his coworkers/friends, his eye has really nice details! It’s so well done!

Im not gonna show the other characters cause I don’t want to spoil the movie,

since it’s a better experience when you know nothing about the subject! ^^

XVII. Never Been More Offended by Something I 100% Agree With

Ara wakes with a start and discovers Nico's jacket is gone, but she's got her Tyrian cloak back, freshly washed jeans, a new camp t-shirt, and brand-new black Converse. Her hair feels clean and smells like honey, and she's no longer tired or cold.

She's sitting outside a café with the others. It's the early morning of the winter solstice, and everyone looks like they're attending wildly different events. 

"Mother!" Piper gasps.

"What? Fight who? Where?" Hedge sits up straight and Ara has a hard time not looking at him. This is not the vibrant she meant when talking about colors.

"Falling!" Leo yelps. "No—not falling. Where are we?"

Jason blurts out another question. "What are you wearing?"

Piper pulls out her dagger to look at her reflection. "It's nothing. It's my—It's nothing." 

"What's that?" This is the first time Ara sees Piper's weapon. "Who gave you that?"

Piper frowns. "Annabeth. It was in Athena's shed."

Ara wants to snatch the dagger out of her sister's grip and throw it away in an abrupt wave of jealousy, and she feels extremely confused by it. "Is that Katoptris?"

"Er... you know it?"

"Of course I know it," Ara scoffs. "Who doesn't know about Helen and Paris? Mom was their biggest fan."

"Aphrodite strikes again, huh? You two gonna be the best-dressed warriors in town, beauty queens."

"Hey, Leo," Jason replies. "You look at yourself recently?"

"What... oh."

Ara looks at the boy, and she... hates it. Thank the gods! Those clothes make him look put together, but Ara likes him more when he's messy and huggable. Huggable. Ara cringes at her own opinions.

"God, Leo, I think my dad wore that to his last premiere, minus the tool belt."

"Hey, shut up!"

"I think he looks good," Hedge hums. "'Course, I look better."

"Well," Jason sighs, "at least your mom overlooked me."

Ara and Piper share a look but say nothing. Ara seizes her cloak, and when she pulls it forward she realizes there is an embroidered image on it. "What the..." She turns. "Piper, what's on my back?"

"A huge Omega in the middle... top left I see Hermes' staff, top right has a dove, and a little to the side there is a crescent moon..."

"My blessings," Ara recognizes. "Cool!"

"How did we get here?" Piper puts Katopris back in its sheath.

"Oh, that would be Mellie," Hedge beams. "Those winds shot us halfway across the country, I'd guess. We would've been smashed flat on impact, but Mellie's last gift—a nice soft breeze—cushioned our fall."

"And she got fired for us," Leo pouts. "Man, we suck."

"Ah, she'll be fine. Besides, she couldn't help herself. I've got that effect on nymphs. I'll send her a message when we're through with this quest and help her figure something out. That is one aura I could settle down with and raise a herd of baby goats." 

"I can't believe I'm saying this," Ara looks at him with an aggravated expression. "But please, stop sharing your feelings."

Piper snorts. "Anyone else want coffee?"

"Coffee!" Hedge says happily. "I love coffee!"

"Um, but—money? Our packs?" Jason looks around.

Ara peeks under her chair and finds her T-Rex bag in one piece. She fishes it out, completely restored with the exception of a heart-shaped eyepatch covering its right socket. "Thank you, Mom!"

Piper pulls out a stash of money and a potion from the pockets of her jacket. Leo lets out an exclamation. "Allowance? Girls, your mom rocks!"

"Waitress!" Hedge calls, picking up a flower and nibbling on it. "Six double espressos, and whatever these guys want. Put it on the girl's tab."

After a while, Leo takes out the drawing from one of his pockets and looks at it with a scowl. Piper notices. "What is that?"

"Nothing. You don't want to see my kindergarten artwork," he folds it again.

"It's more than that. Aeolus said it was the key to our success," Jason mentions. 

"Not today. He was talking about... later."

"How can you be sure?" Piper frowns.

"Trust me. Now—what's our game plan?"

"Climb the mountain," Hedge lists. "Kill everything except Piper's dad. Leave." 

"Thank you, General Eisenhower," Jason mutters.

"Hey, I'm just saying!"

"Wait wait wait," Ara sits up straight. "I'm exhausted."

Leo scoffs. "Take a nap?"

"No, I mean, our situation can't continue like this," Ara replies. "Demigods are all liars by nature—and yeah, technically you're not lying, Jason," she gives him a look. "But we can't keep hiding things from each other, otherwise we'll lose."

"You want us to hold hands, share our thoughts while the solstice dies along with Piper's dad?" Leo frowns.

"Wow, such a nice way to put it," Piper kicks his foot.

"No. What I'm saying is... I'll be your friend. A real one, but you have to be honest. I can't help if you aren't," Ara looks at Leo intently. "Understood?"

Jason is the first to agree. "You got my word, Ara. As soon as I get my memories back, I'll tell you everything. I think you're right, whatever's after us, it wants us to feel like we can't trust each other."

Leo continues to avoid her gaze, pretty much on purpose. Piper decides to speak. "Well, there's more you need to know... about... a dream I just had."

Ara knows it is perfect timing after she listens to Piper's dream. It's time to share her theory. "Mother Earth's the answer. This is spelling out her name."

"Gaea?" Leo raises a brow. "Isn't she supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and deer and rabbits doing her laundry."

"Leo, that's Snow White," Piper replies sternly.

"Okay, but—"

"Listen, cupcake—the girls are telling us some serious stuff, here. Gaea's no softie. I'm not even sure I could take her."

"Really?" Leo asks half mockingly.

"This earth lady—she and her old man the sky were nasty customers."

"Ouranos," Piper says.

"Right. So Ouranos, he's not the best dad. He throws their first kids, the Cyclopes, into Tartarus. That makes Gaea mad, but she bides her time. Then they have another set of kids��the twelve Titans—and Gaea is afraid they'll get thrown into prison too. So she goes up to her son Kronos—"

"The big bad dude," Leo turns to Ara. "The one you and your friends fought last summer."

"Yeah. Well, Mother Nature talked him into cutting up his father. Aphrodite was born from Ouranos' blood, you know? That means we're tough," Ara brushes it aside. "Anyway—It didn't take much convincing, all she did was take off his leash."

"Definitely not Snow White," Piper shivers.

"Gaea is so old and powerful, so huge, that it's hard for her to be fully conscious. Most of the time, she sleeps, and that's the way we like her—snoring." Hedge adds.

"But she talked to me," Leo frowns. "How can she be asleep?"

"Because godly sleep is not the same as ours," Ara explains. "It's like autopilot. Leaves the basics on, and makes sure nature works as it's supposed to. Bet that leaves her with enough energy to make an eight-year-old have a manic episode."

"But believe us," Hedge warns them. "You don't want to see her fully awake."

"But she's getting more powerful," Piper guesses. "She's causing the giants to rise. And if their king comes back—this guy Porphyrion—" 

"He'll raise an army to destroy the gods," Jason concludes. "Starting with Hera. It'll be another war. And Gaea will wake up fully."

"Which is why it's a good idea for us to stay off the ground as much as possible," Hedge concludes.

"So... climbing a mountain," Leo grimaces. "That would be bad."

Ara hugs her T-Rex. "The more a demigod knows, the more dangerous it gets, but you need to know now, to get ready."

Her words don't do much to encourage the others. Jason makes a face. "You mean all we've been through so far it's been what, a warm-up?"

Ara's expression doesn't change as she replies. "Basically. The dragons and the Cyclops were higher up on the ranking, but they're easy to defeat if you have the proper tools, which we had. A king giant, though, that'll take all of our wits... and power."

"Guys, I can't ask you to do this," Piper says miserably. "This is too dangerous."

"You kidding?" Hedge grins. "Who's ready to beat stuff up?" 

"I'm ready to beat you up if you don't calm down," Ara leaves her seat. "All with due respect, of course."

The satyr smiles. "Same ol' Ara, always looking for a fight."

Ara snorts. "Been a while since I did that, Hedge..."

It isn't enough that Percy and Annabeth are the most thick-headed lovebirds in the world, this is also the year Drew decides to start torturing me.

I have just gotten to camp after almost dying in the orientation tour of Percy's new school—and you may ask: "Ara, why were you there? You're thirteen!" I'm a month away from turning thirteen, mind you, and I'm no longer allowed to be alone. 

At school I eat with Percy, I can't go to parties where he's not invited, and I can't take him cause most of my classmates are scared of him, all because he thinks Nico will send monsters to kill me.

Anyway, once at arrive at camp, Lily grabs my hand and drags me toward the cabins. "You saw our new sword instructor?"

"Yeah, he has a huge dog!"

"He's good. We should ask him for extra lessons," Lily says, straight to business.

Connor approaches, he's holding a pair of pliers and I don't wanna know what they're for. "Birdy! Saw you coming down from the hill. All good?"

"We almost got killed by lady vampires."

"The usual, then. Hi, Lily," he fidgets with the pliers. "Having a good day?"

Lily squeezes my hand and pulls me along. "Yup! I'm taking Ara to her cabin, see you!"

I look at her with confusion. "What was that?"

"Shup ut."

"Di immortalis! You got a new crush?" I absorb the whirlwind of feelings coming from her.

"Shut up!" Her ears are red now. "Don't use your powers on me!"

"Why are you blushing?"

"I'm mad at him."

I giggle. "He's too cute to stand?"

"He says that if I go into the labyrinth he'll stop talking to me..."

My smile vanishes. "What labyrinth?"

"Don't worry about that," Lily glances at me. "We got cabin inspections and I won't have you last on the list, you need to train so we can knock some sense back into Nico."

I look down, still embarrassed about the mistake I made last winter. "I'm sorry I put you in a tough spot..."

"You were my friend first, he must understand..." I don't know if she's talking about Nico or Hades.

Piper and Hedge go to pay for the food and Jason goes to look for a taxi, which leaves Ara and Leo waiting on the sidewalk. The silence engulfs them, but it doesn't matter how weird things are between them, it's still not awkward.

"Is it true?" He asks. "That you're always fighting people?"

Ara blushes, trying not to think about how she almost fought Drew before leaving for this quest. "That was a long time ago."

Leo raises a brow. "So Coach was telling the truth? About you blowing up things and attempting murder?"

"I mean, it wasn't quite like that..."

"Then it's also true what Thalia said, that you look after everyone no matter what," he sighs and turns to face her. "I've been... well, I don't even know, but I think I hurt you."

"Really?" Ara stares at him. "When, exactly?"

"You know, when we..." Leo gestures vaguely between them. "That."

"Yeah, I figured," Ara doesn't want to say it, saying it means it's real, and when things are real, they're easier to ruin. "You know why Jason and I are getting along?" She asks, knowing that's been bothering him. "He's trying to understand himself."

Leo shrugs, not meeting her gaze. "I know who I am."

Ara raises a brow. "Then tell me why is Gaea so afraid of you?"

"She's not afraid of me," he snorts. "Didn't you hear Coach? She's the final boss—"

"And yet she went after you first, years ago," she insists. "You're a threat to her but you don't see it, you don't know who you are."

"Alright, Mufasa—who am I, if you've got me figured out?" He asks with annoyance.

"I didn't say that, that's exactly the damn problem," Ara frowns. "I'm not trying to make you feel bad here, it's my job to help you—"

"I don't want to be another deadweight on your back—"

Ara stomps her foot in frustration. "Guess what? That's the point! You're part of a puzzle, and I'm meant to put it together, but you keep squirming out of reach—"

Leo steps forward. Ara steps back and his expression hardens. "And that is my point! You're afraid of me!"

"W-What?"

"You flinch like I'm going to set you on fire—"

"That's not—I'm not—" Ara's blushing bad. "Maybe I wouldn't do that if you didn't stand so close to my face!"

"Just admit you don't trust me!"

"I trust you with my life!" She takes a step forward and snatches the porkpie hat from his head. "The things you think make you a deadweight... I know them for what they are. I haven't scratched the surface of your talents, but I help others find their place, and I'm not giving up on you yet."

"Sorry for the delay! Hedge had like seven expressos so he had to fight his inner demons in the bathroom..." Piper stops. "Er—is this a bad time?"

Ara glances at her. "No," she looks back at Leo and pats his cheek. "We've reached an understanding. Right, Valdez?"

"Hundred percent," he says hoarsely.

Jason comes back with a taxi. Leo's silly hat gets handed to Hedge before Ara enters the vehicle. "All yours, coach."

The satyr tries to take a bite, but Leo snatches the hat out of his grip, hugging it tightly against his chest. He scowls at Piper, who's grinning at him. "What?"

She pushes him toward the taxi. "Nothing, Romeo. Just get in the car."

Glance

His most noticeable feature is probably just how big and huggable he is, or the beard, which due to his connection to The Garden is filled with a variety of colourful and pretty flowers (his whole body smells like flowers but no one ever really makes the connection.

Canvas

He has a big scar right across his torso from when Illyana slashed him while being possessed by the Phoenix force. You'd think it'd be gone after being revived, but you can still pretty clearly make it out if you look. He also has the same tattoo as Kate, which he and Yana both got after Kate drunkenly dared them too. His is above his shoulders, and he basically never acknowledges it. It helps that he almost never goes fully shirtless outside of his home, so no one really sees.

Day

If he's working then he tries to stay relatively professional looking, so a sweater or button up shirt (that's a favourite of Yana's since she can ogle his body when he gets all sweaty) and a pair of slacks. Other than that he usually wears big, comfy clothes; jeans, hoodies, etc. He wants to be able to relax all the time, plus he doesn't want too feel too constricted.

Formal

Jumbo has worked with mutants that don't have humanoid body shapes and Atticus is still his least favourite customer. Atticus doesn't like formal wear, he doesn't like dressing up, and he doesn't enjoy the possibility of ruining the nice clothes he got. When he does dress up, like for the Gala, he'll usually either go with a standard suit and tie, or try and match whatever Yana's wearing (he prefers looking admiring her than thinking about himself.)

Armour

He doesn't! He hasn't worn his old uniform since he was a teenager, and he doesn't really care for them in the first place. Forge made him a helmet to help remove the disorientation of using his powers, but Atticus rarely wears it.

Arms

He tried doing the Captain America shield thing, but he could never really get it to work. Cable once tried to get him to use a gun (bullets are really simple and effective outlets for his powers) but Atticus abhors them so much he refused. Turns out when you can turn a ceiling fan into a weapon you don't have to worry too much.

The closest Atticus gets to having a specific 'style; is like, early 2000's nerdy blog music guy. He's lucky that it's kind of back in style, but it's mostly because it emphasizes browns and earthy colours, which he prefers.

He has a old band shirt that Illyana bought him as a birthday gift, he's worn it so much that the front image has worn off slightly, he still loves it. It doesn't fit him as well anymore, but Illyana wears it all the time instead.

Not particularly? Other than simply getting older, which meant putting on some weight and growing his 'teacher beard', he hasn't really changed all that much.

Earth 1610 Atticus is a full time member of the X-Men, and actually wears a uniform to match. It's a bulky affair, with a big jacket and combat appropriate clothes with a big X emblazoned everywhere. Since he's got the same powerset, he wears a mask similar to the one he's got in the 'main' universe, but it's been heavily specialized since he actually bothers to test it.

So I was just wondering how you got so good at character design? I mean these have got to be the most iconic and recognizable DSAF design interpretations I’ve ever seen. What is your process when designing characters?

(sorry about the rant I love talking about character designs)

Ever since I was a small specimen, I was always interested in how to make a memorable design (meanly shapes) while also using color theory on how each color complements each other. so when I making these versions, I took into account the original designs while also using shapes such has I know I wanted Pen to be a kind and huggable kinda guy so I primarily used circles and thanks to his original design been orange, it helped with making him seem like a warm guy while making Dave, I wanted them to look scary and distain so I used sharp edges and again thanks to the original been purple, it adds a layer of mystery to it like "why do you do this". I can't really talk much on the phone guys since their designs are pretty concrete already but one thing I noticed is that both phone guys (from DSaf 1 and 2) have a red phone and usually red means danger so I made this version of Phone guy (Steven) a bit...suspicious. When it came to the puppet, I wanted to give him a dream like feel to the deign so I used the fnaf 6 puppet has a bases for the design along with using elements from NiGHTS to give that dream like feel. The uniforms they wear are a shade of light blue which brings a sense of calmness admits the chaos that is freddy fazbender pepperonerie. Also one thing I would also like to add are that Pen’s and Dave’s pants colors are switched to show that they have a different approach and mirror each other. Another thing I like to add with my character are cat-like and dog-like features like how when Dave gets spooked, their "back spikes" frizz's up and when you think of Pen, you think of a nice dog who is very protective of he's friends ya know? I've gone through many versions of these characters and the one thing I wanted to do is make them simple. I originally had some accessories on them but I wanted them to be simple at first and has time goes on, their designs well change, showing a since of growth in them. One last thing that I always done with all of my oc's is to show change through their hair but I can't get into that without spoilers so tee hee. Also the way I draw them is on purpose since it adds the simplicity to them and some may have noticed is that I never use black or white with expectations for the eyes.
