first of all, just to clear I'm not saying that I think toby is trying to make the fanbase assume wholesomeness in EVERY relationship he writes, or even every lesbian relationship. I don't think he did that for alphyne, I think that is just a genuinely wholesome relationship for the most part. they have some stuff to work out (mostly based around alphys' lying and insecurities) but what couple doesnt? I did theorize that toby might have kept that in mind while writing suselle specifically though, given the surface-level similarities to alphyne (which essentially just boil down to 'tough girl x shy girl'). considering that toby's been developing noelle and susie since at least 2015 I doubt that's where he started out with the two of them, but I think it's plausible it influenced how he chose to frame their scenes in the final product.

I haven't seen whatever post you're talking about discussing alphyne vs RG01/RG02, and to be frank I don't remember seeing a lot of art of the knights that was overly sexual as opposed to just cute. I do believe that there's some level of it that I just haven't encountered but I don't know if it was the best example to illustrate this point. it IS true though that when it comes to shipping, there's a trend of viewing relationships between two men as inherently more sexual than relationships between two women, because misogyny and I can't get into why that happens in more specificity without going on a massive tangent and I trust you guys already know all that.

so let's just assume that we all understand these basic societal ideals, and the fact they get subconsciously drilled into our heads whether we like it or not: the default way to be a woman is to be a domestic caretaker. gentle, kind, pure, level-headed, someone who does all she can to avoid emotional conflict. or any conflict for that matter- a well-adjusted woman hates conflict, to avoid it she'll become submissive or run away or try to mediate or just faint into the arms of a man about it. men are the ones who initiate or confront conflict, who "make things happen".

Most of the time you guys have a very fast pace, rutting in some dark room or hidden area as you clamp a hand over his mouth. But when the chance presents itself, you guys will take your time and truly feel one another. 

Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.) 

Its most of what you guys do, since its really all you can get. But you and Stack like “going for rides” and doing stuff that “isn't anyone's business” to spend time together. 

R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.) 

A risk taker, sometimes too much of a risk taker with where you guys do it and how loud he lets himself be. Can also get pretty risky with that knife of his, especially when he wants you to use it on him. Theres been a time or two where Smoke thought someone attacked Stack because there was a cut on his neck, never too deep, but enough to be noticeable. 

S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?) 

Has pretty great stamina when you guys get the chance to actually use it. All your quickies has made both of you kind of quick shots though. Doesn't mean you guys can't draw it out though, it just doesn't happen a lot. 

T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?) 

I don't think he owns any toys of any kind, and neither do you. Closest you guys get to that has to be some ropes or a tie or two. 

U = Unfair (how much they like to tease) 

A real tease when he can get away with it. I imagine he used the full party at the juke joint you get to touch you when nobody would notice in the huge crowd. Would say the raunchiest stuff too. Will whisper in your ear, to everyone else it just looks like he's sharing something personal, maybe business, but it's him saying how bad he needs you. 

V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.) 

Could get really loud if you let him, but he rarely gets the chance. Has a hard time controlling his volume when it gets really good, so you always end up having to cover his mouth, which just drives him even more wild. 

W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character) 

I like to think he wears a ring you gave him before he left. He will claim it's just one he picked up that he likes, even if it's pretty ugly, or low quality compared to all the other high-quality stuff he gets over the years. Won't wear it on his ring finger, but its either on his pinkie or middle finger, cuz that's all he can give you. 

Smoke knows what is going on between you two, but assuming you've known them for a long time, then hes known for just as long. It would be why he's so intense when there are signs of your relationship though, cuz he wants to keep Stack safe. He won't stop you guys though. 

X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes) 

Above average in length, but just average in thickness. Cut, cuz I read somewhere that he might have been, so. 

Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?) 

Pretty damn high, but he's just a yearner in general. You guys not getting to kiss on each other and be together whenever you want only adds to this. Gets so bad that Stack will keep a handkerchief or something similar with your cologne on so he can smell it when he's alone.  

Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards) 

Neither of you guys get to sleep much after your time together, cuz it has to be quick and quiet. But when you guys are able, Stack will lay awake for as long as possible so you guys can just hold each other and talk.

To first declare, I don't really see shellvision as toxic honestly and if its perceived that way, there is a simple way to not steer into it being written like that.

like i think its more of a slowburn with a tiny bit of one sided ness, possiblities for PROPER angst, and a good conclusion with both characters, with it all starting with the fact of vee and shelly of course being friends but not exactly being the closest, at least by vees own perspective...they sorta have their own clicks outside of their 'main' friend group! so i'd think vee doesn't really go out of her way to talk to shelly unless shelly talks to her or their own paths intertwine with one anothers like when in the elevator.

shelly on the other hand goes out of her way to interact with everyone! even vee! as she sees vee as her closest friend next to of course astro, sprout, tisha etc...

now shelly does have a crush on vee, and is pretty obvious about it, but doesn't think she is really, out of anything shelly isn't obessive...she wants to support and show how much she loves her friends, she just developed a bigger feeling around vee since well, shelly finds her confidence aspiring and her straight forward and blunt personality to be charming! she is a gameshow host after all!...plus she can't really deny that she does think that vee is really pretty.

but i think shelly wanting to not put her own feelings over anothers, would try to not be so obvious with these feelings...but because shelly being shelly, she honestly can be a bit much and be overly affectionate...which leads to her accidently being too obvious about her feelings toward vee.

and you'd think that would lead to vee knowing that shelly likes her but, i kinda think out of anything, vee should be oblivious to all this since she'd be used to shelly acting like this or at least see this as a normal thing shelly does, vee is used to everyone behavior.

shes a robot, so logically she'd think shelly acting like this is normal, since its normal for her to be affectionate and supportive, its postive traits for anyone to have and shelly acting any different wouldnt make much sense, so she wouldn't look past that and just enjoy the praise and support that shelly gives her, since vee does seem to be a kinda gal to have a little bit of an ego...

eventually though...since vee isn't stupid, would sort of have a moment where she may notice shellys actions being different compared to how she is with everyone else, how more excited she is around her, more talkative, more quick to stumble on her words, more...flustered.

vee isn't used to this, confused by this actually...and for a bit would be stumpted on what was going on with shelly, maybe even go to sprout about it, asking if he could check on her possibly. which where sprout would question her on what could be wrong with shelly of all people.

leading to vee explaining things to sprout, and with all the info handed to him, he'd proubly be looking at vee with this sort of slowly realization on that the fact that first, shelly totally has a crush on vee and second, vee absolutely doesnt know and thinks her behavior is her being sick or whatever, i do think sprout wouldn't sugar coat it and would say that it sounds like shelly likes her, and vee would at first respond with her agreeing but would firmly ask who doesn't like her though, with sprout quick to interupt and say no, not that shelly likes her, that shelly like likes her, that shes crushing on her--ROMANTICALLY.

vee would be kinda fazed by this, shelly likes her? like THAT??? why? why her of all people? they weren't even that close and...

she was more stumpted than before, she's never had someone she considered a friend like her like this before, or even on her own case, has had feelings like that toward another if she were to be honest.

vee didn't know what to do, what to say...she's never felt so..out of control before, so out of the loop, she should've known about this, but...with shelly being just so nice and kind, that being the norm, she really must of brushed it off, which with that conclusion made her feel embaressed with herself.

but after this, i think vee would be in heavy denial, leading to her kinda trying to avoid shelly, maybe to clear things up in her head, shes just suspecting things, shelly isn't in love with her, theres no way she wouldnt of known about her liking her so it isnt true, but with vee actively trying to avoid shelly...

leads to shelly feeling quite ignored, and..very confused...

shelly knew vee could be stand offish at times, especially when shes upset or frustrated, but...for her to avoid her like she was the plague made her feel like she maybe did something wrong, and shelly being shelly, would make it be her mission to apologize to vee when the opportunity came to it...which that opportunity comes along on a very special run.

taking heavy and quick steps, when you arrive in front of him you are surprised by a hand pulling you by the waist. As soon as you land on his lap, inho pulls your face towards his, a firm hand on your neck.

“If you wanted my attetion, good, you have it” he says as his other hand runs under your dress, passing through the lace of your panties and tracing circles.“Now, I'm going to give you enough attention so you understand your fucking place”

∘ now, he’s the controlling type. Everything you do, everywhere you go, everyone you talk to, he knows everything

∘ doesn't bother to manipulate you, he just dictates the rules. Who you can't talk to, the guys he doesn't approve because he swears that if they had the chance, they would try every way to get you. He’s paranoid and extremist

∘ unlike inho, he doesn't use your youth against you, it's actually something he adores. He loves the fact that you are so vulnerable and inexperienced compared to him, for him, this gives him more power to control you

∘ If you were going out, he would like to accompany you himself, he would take you to the doctor, to go shopping, even to the beauty salon

∘ he thinks you won't be safe if you're not with him, so freedom is not an option

∘ while he goes out to recruit more people for the games and work, you stay at home, being able to go out rarely. He especially doesn't like it if you go out alone or with a man, even if it's a friend. Sometimes he lets you go work with him, you just accompany him and observe

∘ on the very rare occasions when you go out alone, he will want to keep in touch, sending you messages, receiving photos of you and calling you. He just wants to make sure nothing bad happens to you.

∘ he is a paranoid man when it comes to your safety, so he is afraid that you will be harassed or even killed if you go out alone

∘ he’s not clingy, but he's affectionate, in his own way. He treats you as if you were made of porcelain, always says how much he would blame himself if something happened to you, and wouldn't hesitate to kill someone for you if necessary

It had been a busy and difficult day, he was looking forward to getting home and meeting his girl. The sound of the front door opening woke you up from your nap, you see your husband entering the house and taking off the top of his perfectly pressed suit.

summary: after a battle [post thriller bark etc] where zoro is severely injured and was on the brink of death. he doesnt want you to ever have to worry about him when he cant protect you, so he decides to let you go.

[this is my first ever posting i had this in mind all day i just had to write it]

after zoro was bed ridden for a month, you saw the change in him. even though he didn’t die, it felt like a piece of him did. he doesn’t look at you the same, hell he barely even acknowledges you. his head is always hanging low or he’s just sitting with his eyes closed.

the change started off small. you tried to start conversations with him but were always met with silence. then, he stopped eating. he wouldn’t eat when you took him the meals sanji had specially prepared for his recovery. though, when his captain took him the meals, he began to eat. you thought it was just in your head, that he just needed more time to recover. still, you check in on him everyday. waiting by the door in case he needed something.

this was new. sure he’s never been the affectionate type, but he always made sure to not let you out of his eye sight during a battle. if you were hurt, he wouldn’t leave your side until you were fully healed. zoro would rather take any hit than see you bedridden. he’d give you his jacket discreetly so you wouldn’t be cold. say he was full when sanji prepared your favorite meal so you could have more to eat.

he know’s you can fight your own battles, but that day he couldn’t protect you. he could barely protect himself let alone his crew. what if he hadn’t survived? he couldn’t bare to leave you with that sorrow. the thought of you almost having to bury him haunted him. it would be easier if he just let you go just in case one day he doesn’t make it. he would give his life to save his captain and crew with no doubt. with those thoughts eating him up, a decision was made, and it wasn’t easy.

zoro wants nothing more than to hold you and have you near as he recovers. he can see your shadow when you wait outside the door, so he faces the wall. he decides it’s easier to avoid any eye contact or to pretend he’s asleep. but zoro knows better, he knows that you’re aware. that you know he isn’t asleep. that he’s leaving it all in ruins. you tried to talk to him once he was nearly recovered. he had enough space and you needed answers for his behavior.

“look, we can’t continue this thing we had. we have to be stronger for our crew and for ourselves. and we can’t do that if we’re distracted with something that’s not worthwhile.”

and just like that he walked away. head high, but his heart in pieces. you wanted to keep believing that it was all in your head, but he had finally said it out loud. sure it was hard to train afterwards, but you just had to push those feelings aside. he was right, you had to be stronger. the straw hats couldn’t lose again.

so now you just sit and watch him from afar.

my thoughts on caldre & calchel

cal and andre are interested in each other romantically. ben coccio has stated this and cal does not have the possibility of getting into a relationship with rachel, and if he ever did, it would not be functional.

cal gabriel is suicidal as seen all throughout the movie. the first appearance of rachel with him is in the cemetery scene & they are pretty upbeat while talking, but that is also seen with andre… just boyish. so saying that cal and rachel are more affectionate than cal and andre is not comparable if the depth of cals conversations are deeper with andre & they also crack jokes and talk to eachother in a bubbly sense occasionally. in the zero day commentary, ben says something along the likes of “cal just loves playing with her. he knows about his and andres plan and she doesnt.”, meaning he was purposefully taunting her in the cemetery. rachel even acknowledges cal and andres relationship and is uncomfortable with it. she makes fun of their relationship coming off as a little homosexual, which cal defends and tries to sidetrack from, which could be stemming from his “repressed homosexuality” as ben phrased. along a great amount of cemetery scene, they are talking about andre, and rachels dislike for him. cal defends andre multiple times.

cal and andre are seen from the first scene until all the way to the end of the movie. their relationship is complex and intense— they are planning a shooting together, killing people they hate together. they both are completely transparent with each other and their ideologies. as i see it, the twos world revolves around them. they are literally “the army of two”— cal is suicidal and does not care for his town, which can be supported by the statement “So, I’m -- I’m ready. You ready?” in the scene outside of his house, talking about his readiness for his and andres attack. this gives me enough reason to think that he has emotionally detached from his family and other friends. he could be emotionally detached from andre, but i do not believe that, due to the quote from ben, “I think there are few films that strive to describe intimacy between two characters without showing physical intimacy.” which is (clearly) implying that cal and andre felt “intimate” emotions for one another. I think that cal would not be able to be in a relationship with someone who is not as ill as him, such as rachel. rachel does not know the violent side of cal that andre does, which makes their relationship a bit tricky. well, his relationship with anyone a bit tricky. he is literally planning murder with andre, he would’ve simply killed himself if he truly cared for what rachel felt.

comparing the two, rachel and cal are not as transparent towards eachother, and knowing cal is suicidal and detached from reality, it is hard to convince me that cal would’ve felt affection for rachel the way he did for andre. Another instance where cal is with rachel is in the scenes before and after prom. he does not pay much attention to rachel either— they sit apart multiple times, rachel is the only one grabbing his hand while he quickly took his hand apart from her to exit the limo, and he humiliated her in front of the group of friends in the limo by ditching her to go with andre. rachel also seems unsatisfied after prom, which makes me think it didn’t go as she would expect it to. in the commentary, ben also describes the limo scene as “uncomfortable”. i do not know if he was referencing the friend group or the scene in general, but there was not much regards to cal and rachels relationship in that scene with the commentary. when cal arrives at andres house, there is a deleted scene where he “rips off his shirt” to display his mission outfit underneath his prom attire. i do think this is. um. idk. this sounds kind of fucking gay— its april & he is deciding to let himself sweat and wear layers just for the purpose of pleasing andre.

i will also be adding a picture of my thoughts on the burning of possessions here as well as a part of the cemetery scene written out . this is a casual rambling but its kinda JUST KINDA formatted as an essay or whatever. im just using paragraphs, its 2 am rn and im tired as fuck if i said something wrong dont punch me 💝 also if this comes off as rude or too forwards my bad

Bonjour Teaboot! I'm writing a fic with a Canadian character and wanted to ask you - is learning French mandatory in school? At what age/grade do you start learning? What sort of level of fluency do most students usually reach in school? Do you learn France French or Quebec French? Merci beaucoup!

Taking French as a class is mandatory, yes, (if your school doesnt have other second-laguage options, thanks for the correction, I'd forgotten) but almost nobody becomes fluent in public school unless they do French immersion.

The French is Qébecois French, and like super duper basic ass shit like "are, have, go, do" conjugations and a fee basic phrases, plus some words for table, ceiling, chair, library, hospital, whatever.

In elementary school, I don't think we did much- My english schools taught us how to sing the national anthem in English and French as well as ASL, but I've completely forgotten the ASL and most of the French. Normally we'd sing it in English and then switch to French for the last few lines, idk why.

The average highschool graduate knows, "Hello, my name is", "yes", "no", "where is the library", and a couple random words and swears. (Swears were not part of the curriculum.)

I chose to do French immersion stsrting in grade 6, so what happens THERE is you speak English and throw in whatever French words you know (affectionately referred to as "franglais"), then slowly use more and more French until about grade 7-9 where speaking English is no longer allowed in class. (I got detention a few times for chatting in English.)

One funny thing about early French classes in immersion- we had to ask to use the bathroom in French (esque-je peux aller a la toilette, if i remember correctly) and one time a kid said it wrong (esque-je peur à la toilette) which kind of sort of translates to "Am I afraid of going to the bathroom?" Which was, frankly, hilarious, and not just because he used to throw shit at my head all the time

Popular French words among English students are "pomplemousse" (Pomp-LA-Moose, Grapefruit) "Granouille" (Gran-oo-ee, Frog) "Phoque" (Fock, Seal) and "Arrêt" (A-rett, often intentionally mispronounced as "a rat", Stop)

Common French assignments in Englush schools are talking with a partner about your summer vacation, reading short paragraphs to the class, using smalltalk words in proper contexts, naming pizza toppings, singing songs about conjugation, etc.

Common French assignments in French schools are translating chapters from books written in English, writing short fiction stories, correcting incorrect sentences, reading French books, writing essays, etc.

In BC at least you need to take French or choose another language if it's available at your school? I think my mom took Russian growing up, idk, you just need a second languahe

I van read enough to passably understand slow speech and simple books, but not enough to articulate myself past very simple concepts and ideas- directions, questions asking for help, etc, and my grammar is.... bad.
