Notice how Island 2007 in general had a habit of reducing characters to background for several episodes at a time, especially in pre-merge?

I know someone rightfully brought up Beth and how her lack of relevance between Heather forming the alliance and Beth quitting the alliance kinda made her story hollow, but there's more than just that.

Noah doesn't even say any sarcastic quip or speak at all between episode 1 and his elimination episode (we don't even see how he jumped off the cliff in episode 2).

Justin says nothing after the first episode, though at least he get some relevant moments in most of his screentime in four out of his five episodes.

Katie and Sadie don't have any relevance after episode 2 outside of The Sucky Outdoors (the episode that Katie is eliminated in), Phobia Factor (the only time Sadie is relevant between Katie's elimination and her own), and Who Can You Trust (when Sadie is eliminated), which does make it harder to see differences with Katie and Sadie, and robs us of getting to see an arc of Sadie try to face the competition on her own without Katie.

Tyler's mostly fine, even if the reasoning for his elimination was super weird because of weird challenge rules.

Cody, Courtney, and Harold also do pretty solid making the most of their screentime as far as the pre-mergers go and Eva and Ezekiel at least do as much as you'd expect for the first two boots.

Even the mergers aren't safe from this (outside the final 4 + Izzy and Lindsay).

DJ pretty much faded into the background after episode 11 and doesn't do much of relevance with even his elimination episode suffering for this, with his elimination being for a pretty unfair reason (Getting scared in a challenge he didn't know existed).

Bridgette and Trent are more or less just satelites for Geoff and Gwen. Granted Bridgette was slightly better about it pre-merge with her friendship with Courtney getting some attention in a couple episodes (plus Sadie for episode 7 before Sadie went back to fading to the background), and episodes 13-15 tried to bring some relevance for her individually with her friendships with Gwen and Leshawna and conflicts with Heather and Eva, but outside that she wasn't exactly the most relevant. We don't even get to see the skills Bridgette has in sports that Duncan claimed she had in episode 17 (being a reason why the Guys alliances voted for her).

Geoff kinda hit a lull after Bridgette's elimination and didn't get relevant again until his elimination episode despite doing solid with his screentime otherwise.

Leshawna also hit a lull after episode 17 and didn't get much relevant roles anymore outside the final 6 episode (episode 18 even has her skip the challenge yet suffer no consequence for that). They didn't even bother giving her a speaking role in her own elimination episode.

Granted when they shine, they're good but it's just that the season doesn't always pull its weight for consistent character focus.

yeah Island is very unfocused but considering how at least some of these characters have more to do in following seasons, it doesn't bother me too much.

though Island could have definitely done with maybe another slight revision and perhaps more characters should have been utilized in not just it but the remaining Gen 1 trilogy as well.

I really wanna know what goes on in the minds of TD's creative team in basically every aspect of the show, ya know?

My first impression of them

I can't 100 percent remember. I think I was a little confused about who she was and thought she was David's demanding sister, or something. I thought they kinda looked alike. I don't think I warmed up to her until I saw her as Kathryn. But when she showed up in the hospital scene, I was so touched by how much she cared about David and how kind and sweet she seemed. I think I was questioning whether Henry's book was real but was also kinda wary in case she was a Regina minion. But I didn't wanna believe it because she seemed so nice.

Her bringing a basket of muffins was the cutest gosh darn thing I've ever seen in my entire life and I was fully sold by then. But I also loved that she stood up for herself and knew she deserved to seek and find her heart's desires- all while being incredibly generous and forgiving in Storybrooke and the EF.

I know she doesn't have hazel eyes, haha, but I came across this fan vid. and I just love it so much. It's on my favourite fan vid playlist (which I listen to, like, every other weekend). It's 'Behind These Hazel Eyes'.

7. A quote of them that you remember

Poor woman got caught in the middle of a mess that had little to do with her, and it almost ruined what she thought was her whole life. She must have felt so alone and like she could trust no one. My heart really went out to her. She deserved so much better. But the way she chose to look at things from a different perspective for her own sake, and tried to pursue real happiness, was so admirable. It's a shame she got drugged and locked in a basement afterwards! That'd must have been really horrible and terrifying. Poor Kathryn couldn't catch a break!

11. What’s the first thing you think about when thinking about the character?

I get the warm fuzzies. Season 1 nostalgia to the max! My favourite season is not my favourite season without Kathryn. It just wouldn't be the same. She has a very special place in my heart and I just want her to have all the happiness and I cry and I am baking her cranberry muffins as we speak, even though I really freaking hate cranberries. That's how awesome I think she is! I am willing to touch dried fruit with my human hands just for her!

19. The most random ship you've seen people have with them

I tried to look for a blog I thought I saw a rare Kathryn pair on a while back that I couldn't remember, but found Kathryn x Ingrid on another blog instead. I feel like I kinda get it, as to me they have similar vibes a.k.a they're both pretty regal. I gotta read it! It's here if anyone's interested!

20. A weird headcanon

One thing I've always thought deep down is that, despite essentially psychologically torturing her, Gold tried to be nice about it, if that makes sense. I think he maybe got her nice food, maybe sat with her, and tried to calm her – not that she knew what was going on. Don't get me wrong, Gold can be very cruel, but that cruelty is usually directed at people who have wronged him or those who made a deal with him without reading their contract properly, like poor Anna. Kathryn was completely innocent and likely made no deals, so I don't think he would hit her with his cane or anything (at least, I hope not!). He could have killed her like Regina wanted him to, but he didn't. Whether that was to ensure things would work in his favor, an act of mercy, or something in between, I suppose is a bit of a mystery. Nevertheless, what he did was still terrible.

21. When do you think they were at their happiest?

I think with Frederick pre or post curse. She seemed to have very fond memories of her time with him before he turned to gold, so probably then. But I like to think she'd find even more happiness after the curse, whether she ended up with him or not. Now I think about it, I wonder if she tried to cross Lake Nostos to save Frederick. I can't remember if she said she did. Did the siren seduce her too?? Where's that scene at?!

23. Future headcanon

I don't mind a happy ending where Regina doesn't end up with a love interest, although goodness knows I would have loved to see her end up with Facilier. But since canon won't let us have him back (not without more time travel, at least!), I think it would be nice if Kathryn and Regina reestablished a relationship and it maybe developed into something more. Maybe things didn't work out with Freddie (sorry, Freddie!) and things end up coming full circle, where they both end up at some sort of celebration party together. Maybe they're both feeling a little lonely, and Kathryn sits next to Regina, and they just talk and reconnect. Oh snap, this was more of a wish than a headcanon before I wrote it out, but I'm totally adopting it as an official headcanon now!

I like to think she is good friends with the Charmings too!

This is what Paul said before season 4 aired. Interesting he said Stefan's dependant on Elena in his desire to not act like a Ripper when the fandom claims Stefan is not like that:

Interviewer: How will Stefan react to Elena as a vampire and the role he played in making her that way?

Paul Wesley: I don’t know if I’m sympathetic. I’m more like you know 2 things (1) I am guilty for my part in becoming a vampire (2) I am also in denial of it. So rather than being like “okay, she is a vampire and we need to accept that”, I’m kind of like “Look, she’s not really a vampire. This is not really happening” you know. So Stefan’s kind of in this delusional kind of world of denial in a way which is all going to obviously burst into a bubble. And then he’ll start crying hysterically.

Interviewer: What will be the fall out of Stefan’s decision to save Matt’s life over Elena?

Paul Wesley: Stefan says “Look, I didn’t mean for Elena to die. If I knew she was going to die I would have never bring Matt up. You know he’s like…he didn’t let her die. He may have symbolically or it may have looked that way but in his mind he never wanted it. It just sort of happened. He didn’t even know how it kind of happened. He was kind of like in this bubble of…I feel like Stefan is like in this delusional world without even understanding what had happened.

Interviewer: Are Elena and Stefan going to live happily ever after..forever?

Paul Wesley: It’s not going to last. The whole she chose Stefan. The circumstances are obviously different now. She is definitely moving on. We don’t know where but she is going to move on.

Interviewer: Where is Stefan on the Ripper scale  on season 4?

Paul Wesley: It’s so unpredictable. Now I’m like at a 2; I’d like to be at a 15. I think it’s sort of going to be this gray zone. I think it is all contingent upon him and Elena. When they break up his ripper capabilities are much higher. I think that when him and Elena are more lovey-dovey he’s got more of a reason to be a goody two shoes.

Fans will always try to claim stupid things. Stefan was most certainly dependent on Elena with his Ripper crap. He feeds on Elena in the 2nd season because he doesn't have an emotional connection to blood bags. He needs Elena when he heals Dr. Fell because he knows he'll devour her if she isn't there. This shifts from Elena to Caroline when Elena becomes a vampire.

Stefan is in denial that he's a vampire. That's why Damon is dead-set on reminding him what he is in the first season. He entered Elena's life without care to what that would do to her, what he could do to her. That's partly why he pushes his animal diet on Elena. The more she acts like him, the more he can pretend she's not a vampire.

Stefan often lives in delusion, and not just with Elena. But that's why Elena needs Damon in season 4. He's a realist. "It is what it is, Elena." Damon doesn't want Elena playing pretend like Stefan does, and he's like this with her even in season 1. He pushes her to accept Stefan's truth, then pushes her to accept her truth. Ripping off the band-aid is the easiest way, and it's not like she was gonna go through it alone.

"She is definitely moving on." This is a huge thing for Elena in season 3, starting with her birthday episode. It hits huge in 3x11 when she's on the bridge with Matt, and outwardly admits she feels stuck. Vampirism helped Elena move on from Stefan in a way that she needed to. Because while she did wanna be there for him, being there for him didn't require she give up so much of herself. Caroline and Alaric both wanted her to move on. It's my belief that Bonnie did too.

Thoughts journal about Season 13!! 💪💪 (1/4)

Phew, I actually made it to the English release without spoilers! 🤩 I do know general things about little plots for the ninja, hopefully nothing major! Finally, the Cole season we've all been waiting for, with Rock Mom and possibly plenty of our Earth baby development! COLE IN THE SPOTLIGHT AT LAST!! 🖤🖤

Well, I know I'll be shooting rainbows from my eyeballs if I see even one Nexo Knights reference! For the rest I don't really know what will happen, I'm curious! 🤔

It's the 6th of July, and here we go!!

GENERAL THOUGHTS

Is it just me or the dialogues sounds better? More built up, funnier, cohesive just like in the earliest seasons of Ninjago? Maybe it's just me but I'm really appreciating 🤷‍♀️

It also doesn't feel that rushed anymore! Which was my biggest problem in Prime Empire really. The episodes seem to me like fragments of a nice movie, not a too long story forced into 11 minutes. I'm very happy with the quality so far, I feel good about this for now! 👍

No matter what season it is, you can count on The Fold to make an AMAZING intro!! Freaking awesome, it was epic and very final battle like 👌👌 I WANT THE FULL VERSION ASAP!!!

I do appreciate we are not forgetting about the adventures we had until now, it feels like from season 11 forward we are building a new backstory of. But they still show stuff from the very first seasons so I'm happy anyway 😍

Okay, poor sensei and all, but he's kinda right 😅 I like Wu, I really do, but Aspheera was a problem kinda because of him, they all going to another dangerous realm could have been dealt a lot better if he hadn't been so on edge and in Prime Empire he freaking got kidnapped by NORMAL PEOPLE. Maybe he is getting old 🤷‍♀️
