You know, we talk a lot about the Housewardens, but I want to know what are the vice housewardens' favourite ice cream flavour? 👀
Ooooh this is gonna be lots of fun to answer! Thank you for asking, I agree we should discuss the vice housewardens more too!!!
Trey - Honestly, I think Trey would like vanilla the best. It pairs so well with almost any baked dessert, and it isn't an overwhelming flavour. I think he would enjoy the sweet simplicity of it. I also think he would love having it with fresh-baked pies.
Ruggie - Ruggie comes from a family that probably didn't spend a lot on ice cream, and it's hinted at that there's young ones he helps look after (siblings? cousins? neighbourhood kiddos? I don't really know but any of those is just as likely) so I imagine that when ice cream was bought, it was bought in a large quantity that was probably on sale, in a flavour that was probably "safe" as in, popular among the majority. For this reason, I think Ruggie would be in love with stuff that is more unique than plain old vanilla or strawberry or chocolate because 1. he didn't get those as a kid, and 2. it means he gets to have it to himself and enjoy it all. I think his number one favourite flavour would be pumpkin ice cream, because it's a different flavour...not too outlandish but definitely not one that is common among ice cream parlours.
Jade - Jade...Oh, Jade. Why must you torment me even in my own headcannons. Alright, so Jade has a favourite ice cream (technically a gelato). It's called "Byakuya". BUT, he's only allowed it on Very Special Occasions. Why? Because it is $6696.00 per serving. PER. SERVING. JADE. Why is it so gosh-darn expensive? Because it is made with Very Expensive white truffles. And look me in the eye and tell me that Jade wouldn't try an ice cream that comes packaged with truffle oil? (I'm sorry I just...I don't know what truffles taste like but research says they're savory, and my personal taste does not like to mix a lot of sweet and savory). And a hand-made metal spoon???? Part of me wonders if he lists this one as his favourite just so he can watch Azul break the bank on the twins' birthday. But honestly, I read about this ice cream here, and couldn't help but think about how it was Such a Jade Thing.
Jamil - I think Jamil would like Vanilla ice cream with some Cinnamon sprinkled on top. It's simple, but a yummy combo, and I think at the end of the day he wants an easy dessert he can enjoy. Plus, he pretty much never runs out of it; those are two ingredients you can find anywhere.
Rook - Rook likes a soft serve vanilla and chocolate ice cream in a cone. It's swirled beautifully and the two different colours really bring out that shape. He enjoys both chocolate and vanilla for taste, so in his mind this is the perfect mix of both. Also, it means he gets romantic ice cream cone dates with Vil. :D (in my opinion, ice cream is completely fine in either a bowl or a cone, but it is 100% More Romantic in a cone).
Ortho - Bubblegum for Ortho. It's a fun colour (usually blue or pink) and it has chunks of candy in it! What's not to love? I think Ortho is a "try everything" kind of person, but I think he would just really love the appeal of the bubblegum flavour ice cream. I also feel like it reflects his fun attitude and child-like wonder very well.
Lilia - Again. Why must I be tormented. But you cannot expect me to think Lilia would go for something normal...No no, he likes to experiment. He is out there trying anything and everything that he can, for the experience. Just a dude living his life to the fullest, and I love that for him. I think Lilia would list Pizza Flavoured Ice Cream as his favourite. Based on the pizza ice cream listed here, made with tomato, basil, oregano, salt and garlic, it would be very savory. Maybe a bit like a cold slice of leftover pizza? I'm not sure...but regardless, he is thriving off of it.
There you go! Those are my headcanons! What are yours, friend??👀 Also, no judgement towards anyone who likes the savory ice creams, it is just my personal preference that I do not.

Why are Canadian Souvenirs a Big Deal?
Everyone who visits Canada, briefly or for a long holiday, makes sure to take some souvenirs back. These Canadian souvenirs are always appealing to tourists and collectors. But why do people always do so? Are you curious why people have a soft corner in their hearts for the best Canadian souvenirs? Well, we can try reasoning this behaviour.
Reason-1: Cultural Significance:
Canadian cities, Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, etc., have unique cultures. When a person visits these cities, he definitely feels enchanted by the culture of these cities. So, when they are about to leave, they try to take a souvenir that helps them remember the unique culture of these cities.
Reason-2: Nature:
Whoever visits Canada feels mesmerized by its natural beauty. The greenery, snow, wildlife, etc., amaze visitors a lot. You can find scenic views almost everywhere in Canada. The country is so beautiful in its own way. However, people want to keep souvenirs with them to recall the beauty of the time when they were surrounded by natural beauty in Canada. Therefore, they take anything they like before leaving the country.
Reason-3: Maple Products:
The first eatable product that amazes tourists in Canada is maple syrup product. Maple syrup is the core of Canadian desserts and beverages. A dash of maple syrup can turn coffee, cookies, pancakes, etc., into a delicious delight. So, when people fall in love with maple eatables, they want to take some of them back home. For instance, they take maple chocolate candy, syrup, and more with them. They want others to taste the maple delight as well.
Reason-4: Gifts:
Why no one goes back home empty-handed from Canada? Well, Canadian souvenirs are always a reason behind this. These products are sometimes for tourists and other times for the people they know. People always take back some souvenirs for others as well. For instance, they take Canada souvenir t-shirts, keychains, mugs, etc., with them for the people they know. Finding gifts for others in Canada is extremely easy. The stores have a wide range of options.
Reason-5: Quality and Craftsmanship:
Canadians believe in offering quality products crafted beautifully. They do not want customers, tourists, or end-users to feel disappointed in the product. Moreover, high quality and excellent craftsmanship also make Canadian souvenirs a must-buy for tourists as well. These are the reasons why Canadian souvenirs are pretty popular.

Sweet as You
Author’s notes: I’m salty that the event will not give me Lucifer and Luke’s card so instead I’m replacing it with sweet headcanons about the essence of the datables’ kisses and what chocolates you’d give, plus a little bit about how you and Luke teamed up to make them!
Content warning: food, chocolate, candy
Length: 2.4 K
Lucifer
You make a coffee bonbon for Lucifer. The shell is dark chocolate with two streaks of colour painted on—one in your favourite colour and another in his. The filling is an espresso ganache that highlights the bitterness of chocolate and coffee while ensuring the bonbon is never too sweet
Lucifer is both impressed with the flavour and the obvious care you’ve put into crafting this confection. He offers to prepare some drinks so you two can enjoy the chocolate together
Kissing Lucifer is being swept up in each other. It feels like passing by each other in castle walls, then hiding behind pillar to exchange impassioned kisses and whispers of love. The world might be continuing around you, but in that moment only the two of you matter
Lucifer feels clarity when kissing you. Everything else melts away and all that is left is the feeling of your lips and the warmth of your love. Your kisses contain an oasis and Lucifer finally feels like he can relax
Mammon
Mammon gets a fancy gold leaf bonbon that has a glossy shine. And to his delight you’ve gifted him liquor chocolate filled with an expensive Demonus that’s all the rage lately
Naturally, Mammon enjoys the chocolates because they’re fancy. However, the real reason he adores them is that they are proof that, to you, he is someone worth splurging on in both effort and money
Kisses with Mammon are messy and unexpected yet both of you feel like you’ve waited forever for this. The first taste of you isn’t enough, and Mammon becomes addicted pretty quickly. It’s a rush, like betting on a rolling dice or a flip of a card while on a winning streak. He feels like he’s losing all good sense yet so sure this is the right decision
His love for you is neither neat nor compartmentalized and neither are his kisses. It’s bubbling affection that he just can’t contain anymore. No matter how many lies he verbalizes, the blush on his visage and the way he greedily steals kiss after kiss says enough
Levi
You craft a chocolate treat based of a scene in TSL! There was a cute scene between Henry and the Lord of the Shadows where they eat chocolates, sharing one last sweet moment before having to part. You decide to recreate it by creating milk chocolate bonbons with a salted caramel filling, making sure to use a mold which creates the right shape!
Levi is floored. He knows EXACTLY which scene these chocolates are from, down to the page and line numbers. He simply gawks for a while and then proceeds to basically have a photoshoot. When he finally takes a bite, you can see the way his face lights up and it’s worth all the effort
Kisses with Levi are an adventure with ups and downs, bumps in the road, but a treasure chest at the end. When you first kiss him, he’s a blushing mess with brain working overtime to suppress his fight or flight instinct. But in spite of himself, Levi leans in and trusts you because no one treats him with this tenderness
His world is still small, aside from his brothers and Lotan, everything he loves could probably be contained in his room. But your kisses expand his horizons and maybe he thinks it’d be worth it to explore the world a little more, even if it leaves him vulnerable
Satan
You make Satan a combination of brigadeiros and mint discs for Valentine’s day! He enjoys that you’ve made chocolate confections but veered outside the classic bonbons. Satan likes the soft and chewy textures of the brigadeiros in contrast with the crunchy sprinkles and the unique texture of sugared mint atop dark chocolate discs
Satan happily opens the box of chocolate. He admires them for a bit and compliments you on their appearance before popping one in his mouth. He feels both loved and a little smug, Satan knows a bit about chocolate confections, enough that he’s certain you’ve put quite a bit of effort into this, which makes it all the more sweet
Lay on compliments about how he’s just as sweet as the chocolate, perhaps referencing a book he’s reading, and how all that work was worth it for his sake and you might get him blushing
Kisses with Satan are like browsing a library—the nostalgic smell of old books combined with excitement of discovering new worlds contained in pages. You’ve had more kisses with Satan than you can count, but even with that familiarity, you feel like you’re uncovering something new each time your lips meet
Asmo
Asmo knows the value of appearance so you ensure your chocolates look just as good as they taste. You make white chocolate disc in the shape of hearts and adorn them with sugared petals. Additionally, you create passionfruit bonbons with cute heart indents which look picture perfect.
Asmo takes a selfie with you while you each hold a chocolate confection. Sweets for your sweetheart!~ It’s cute.
But then you bring up how you chose passionfruit for its refreshing taste, so its easy to continually eat the chocolates, because just like the bonbons you’ll never get sick of him! It’s such a small detail but it warms his heart and suddenly you’re trapped in a hug
Asmo’s kisses don’t neatly fit into any single category. He is sweet, masterful and practiced, playful and lets you take the lead, but he is always sincere in his affection to you. Kisses are one of many ways to reaffirm your love
His kisses are like eating an assorted box of chocolates. One kiss is light and flirty, the next is sensual and stroking desire, then another which is teasing and light while interspersed with giggles. Yet all of them leave you with a sweet feeling
Beel
You make Beel a big pile of semi-sweet chocolate bark with variety of toppings, one has freeze dried raspberries, another has almonds, some use hellfire peppers, it’s a whole buffet
Beel plants a kiss on your forehead and thanks you so much for the gift! He begins to dig in to the treats you’ve made and has an endearing content grin the entire time he wolfs the chocolate down. He does his best to remember to offer you a bite too!
Many of Beel’s kisses start off as innocent fondness and true devotion. He loves you and you can feel it in the way he holds you close to him and devours all the affection you give.
But many of his kisses turn hungry, because he can never get enough of you, the taste of your lips, your sweet moans, the way your hands roam, the puffs of hot breaths, they all never fail to leave him wanting more. His kisses feel satisfying and fulfilling, because you get to indulge to your heart’s content
Belphie
You make Belphie coconut oil chocolates! They’re so easy to eat, he doesn’t even need to chew. You have to be careful to not melt them when making and handle the individual morsels, but it’s worth it all in the end
You surprise him by popping the chocolate into his mouth! You’re lucky he trusts you, if it was anyone else he’d probably have spit it out. It’s easy to bite through and melts to spread a pleasant chocolate taste across his mouth.
Probably muttered something under his breath, but he makes sure to thank you for the gift too, even if he is a little blasé about it. At least these ones aren’t dusty
Belphie’s kisses are lazy little things with missed lips and little laughs, huffs of air, and that smirk that makes you want to kiss him stupid until he can’t pretend to be relaxed. Random pecks in the morning, between naps, before bed, but if you ever ask why, the answer is “just because”
Occasionally your kisses are salvation and desperation. No life, no relationship, no person is without turbulence. Your hot breaths prove you’re alive and breathing, the love your pour into him as your lips meet prove he is worthy of affection, and he doesn’t intend to let go
Diavolo
You make Diavolo white chocolate matcha bonbons! The inside is filled with a smooth matcha ganache that’s a brilliant shade of green. The shells are painted with the rough silhouette of your favourite flower. The matcha flavour helps balance out the sweetness of the white chocolate, making a delicious treat
Diavolo is delighted by the gift and compliments the taste! But he also enjoys the story that goes with it when you tell him your thought process, how matcha has become popular across the world in the human realm, and what human traditions are attached to the gifting of chocolates
He’s already plotting what he wants to give you in return, but for now he’ll enjoy your heart felt confection while making sure to give you a piece
Kisses with Diavolo are like fireworks. No matter how many times you see them, they never lose their brilliance. Even if they aren’t always in the sky, they bring you joy each time you see their bright colours and sparkling streaks
Diavolo intends to indulge you in kisses. Even the short ones, before meetings, after class, the domesticity tickles his heart. But Diavolo’s preference leans to long kisses where the two of you meld together. Everything is you, your unique scent, the way his name leaves your mouth, the way you hold onto him, your taste alone makes him want to dive deeper
And why stop at one kiss? He should have another for good measure, maybe two, three, four—well now there’s no point counting so you might as well continue
Barbatos
You make strawberry shortcake inspired chocolates for Barbatos. The bonbon shell is made with ruby chocolate with the filling consisting of whipped white chocolate ganache and strawberry preserves.
The several components merge together to make a sweet dessert and Barbatos appreciates how you use the novel ruby cocoa. Barbatos out of everyone knows how much work must have gone to create these bonbons and makes sure to both savour it and compliment you
Kisses with Barbatos are like sharing a secret. You get special access to a gateway into him, and in these kisses you create a special place just for the two of you
His kisses are almost dangerously good, you swear kissing didn’t always feel this good. But his intensity, the way it’s only the two of you, the mere privilege it is to have him whisper sweet words between gilded kisses, it makes it worth all the wait
Simeon
You make Simeon earl grey tea truffles! You coat the truffles with milk chocolate to create an easy to hold shell. Then you have stripes of dyed white chocolate — one in your favourite colour and another in his.
Simeon thinks it’s adorable at how your chocolates have become a matching couple item with the coloured stripes. He thinks it’s lovely how you made him tea flavoured chocolate, given how many fond memories the two of you have which centre around a cup of tea
Simeon kisses make you feel treasured. He peppers your face is soft kisses, he cups your cheek gently, and the adoration in his eyes almost overwhelms your heart
His love is all encompassing and you’ve never felt safer than when you’re in his arms. Beautiful lashes fan his cheeks, contended sighs, and underlying warmth. Simeon feels like home and with his kisses, you’re falling in love again
Solomon
You know Solomon likes cupcakes and poisoned apples so you decide to combine the two! You make him an apple cakepop coated in coloured white chocolate to look like a poisoned apple!
Unlike his cooking, your sweet tastes delicious and leaves the eater happy. You make sure to use granny smith apples to retain some tartness and Solomon happily eats the confection.
Unfortunately, your sweetheart has also made sweets to express his love for you. Don’t let Solomon give you chocolates back or use a trick to dispose of them! It is not romantic to spend the day puking or sick in bed. Or hey, maybe true love is eating it knowing that it spells out nothing less than doom
Kisses with Solomon feel like an exploration. You get to know him bit by bit and each kiss feels like proof he is wiling to vulnerable with you. Some trips result in airy kisses, others feel like rocky days at sea filled with passion and you’re in danger of running out of breath, it’s always an adventure
Sometimes, you swear you can feel his lips form a smug smile. Other times, he approaches you so gently and the touch of hesitancy, like he can’t really believe he got you, makes you want to shower him with enough love to wash away all doubt. He holds you tight, to him you are warmth and intimacy, and he never wants to let go
Bonus: Making Chocolates with Luke
When making chocolates with Luke, it is best to be sweet with him, guide the angel with soft suggestions without sounding like you’re babying him. Generally, Luke is pretty amendable but he can have a stubborn streak if he feels like he has something to prove
He makes for chocolate confections for Barbatos, Simeon, Micheal, Solomon and you! It’s so cute to see him so excited when he thinks about how happy everyone will be when they receive the gift
You two go through many spoons to check if the chocolate is tempered, rapidly tapping the chocolate to see if it has that snap and sighing when it blooms
By the end of it, you two are a mess with chocolate smears on your apron, but you have nice assortment of shiny chocolate sweets

A Maid in service (Husky x Barbatos)
(This WAS gonna be MC x Barbatos but Im Barbatos trash atm  XD but i will make a MC x Barbatos in the near future hopefully! He needs more love uwu ) I’m putting a tab in case i make this too long XD and if you wish to image yourself as Husky that’s fine  ^^
Warning: some cursing , slightly suggestive
Word Count: 2,600 words
It was an absolute disaster. The Prince, Diavolo , was giving me a tour of the castle as well as with Mammon, he was mainly there to keep an eye on me. We entered a room that mainly consisted of Vases, they were all beautiful and VERY fragile.
Then i noticed Mammon eyeing some of them “Don’t even think about it, Mammon”
“ay just relax, i ain’t gonna do anything!”
“yeah sure, you said that the last time too and ended up with “unknown jewelry” “
He scoffs as he rolled his eyes at me. I payed no mind to him but literally the second i turned away i heard something get picked up and an immediate crash....I slowly turn around and there i see Mammon with a vase in shards right in front of him.
“Mammon!”
“I didn’t mean to drop it!”
“What was that ?” Diavolo came towards us along with Barbatos
Mammon Froze “shit!”
Then Diavolo looked at the broken vase. His face was blank but it slowly morphed into a displeased look. I mean i can’t blame him, that vase must of been worth a fortune , which is why Mammon tried to take it...UGH why couldn’t someone like Satan or Beel just came with me instead !?
“Mammon...” Diavolo’s voice was low
“eep!” Mammon sounded like a mouse
“could you explain what happened here? I’d love an explanation. “
I looked over and Mammon was basically shivering and at a lost of words, I’d be the same too since Dia shut off his friendly tone. I had to think of something quick , He was already in debt and it would be much worst if he were to try and pay of Diavolo , he might as well just give him his credit card! which would never happen but then i spoke out without hesitation or thought
“I-It was me! “
The three looked at me surprised
Diavolo raised a brow “it was you Husky? “
Shit! I probably should of said something else...can’t turn back now..”Y-yes...I wanted to admire it but I thought i saw something on the vase,....I tried to wipe it off but i accidentally pushed it! “ God I hope that’s somewhat believable
The Prince was silent for a second and then sighed “ you humans can be so  clumsy some times” Good, he bought it but i knew i was still gonna be punished ..
“Even if it was by accident, I still can’t let go you lightly , Husky. You need to be punished “
I gulped
“I was thinking of making you pay for it yourself but...maybe you can work for it “
“huh?? work for it? “
“yes, you can work as a maid here in the castle until you’ve paid off the debt for the vase “
I froze in shock , a-a maid!? hell no! I’ll never hear the end of it from the brothers! God, this sucks so much! but ..it’s slightly better then using my own money i guess..?
“Y-yes sir..” I regrettably said
“Perfect! You’ll work everyday after school until 9 PM , If there are days you wish off, i will allow it but each day off is a day lost. So choose wisely. Barbatos will also be able to help you if you have any troubles, so don’t be afraid to ask! “
Barbatos has been silent and has a somewhat concerned expression , probably pitying me
I agreed to the terms. After the Tour was over , Barbatos handed me my maid uniform , which luckily was a traditional maid outfit with a long skirt. On our way home, i made sure to give Mammon an earful , i was probably worst then Lucifer at this time. He kept apologizing and said i’d probably look great in the outfit. The second he said that I knocked him on his ass. Now I just have to mentally prepare myself for my first day as a maid tomorrow
I was so anxious when i got home , i got myself dressed and before i left , I was stopped by Lucifer. He already gave me a lecture for breaking something in the castle , what’s it gonna be now..?
“If you need help with your studies, please talk to me. You’ll be busy as a maid and it might not give you enough study time.”
“oh..sure, thanks “
He nods “ Barbatos should be on his way to get you soon “
“? he’s picking me up? I thought i had to walk there”
“just be grateful that Diavolo is making you walk to the castle from here..”
He had a point.. the Castle wasn’t too far but it was far enough for a long walk. I waited outside and soon a carriage came by. The door opened and Barbatos came out
“Good Evening Miss Husky.” He held the door open for me
“Good Evening..” I walked inside and he close the door after he entered and then we were on our way to the castle.
It was Quiet for the majority of the ride.It somewhat made me uncomfortable especially since it was Barbatos. Not that he’s bad, I’m just not familiar with him is all. I guess i will be soon since I’ll be basically helping him with chores and such.
“How are you this evening?” He asked suddenly
I got a little shook but i quickly responded “I’m f-fine! Just  a little nervous “
“I assume you’ve never done anything like this before? “ he gave a light smile
“no ..not really, I mean the closest thing to this is cleaning for my Grandma but it was mainly to help her since she didn’t have enough energy..”
“just like how Mammon broke the Vase and you took the blame? “
!! What?..how did he...how does he know that? I kinda panicked for a second but started questioning it. If he knew, why didn’t he say anything before? Why did he let this happen?
“..If you knew..why didn’t you say anything? “
“well My lord would of gravely punished Mammon ..not just paying him back. He would of given him something then death since he’s attempted to steal so many times...but if you took the blame, he would be fine and you’d basically get  a slap on the head “
huh..so in other words, he wished not see Mammon punished because of his stupidity. I dunno how it works for punishing them but he gave me chills when he mentioned worst then death, i can’t even image that..We finally arrive at the castle
“so..does Diavolo know? “
“no. If i were , you’d both be punished , you wouldn’t like that know would you? “
I only did this ti protect Mammon, so i guess i do..All I do is nod and head our way in. My first day wasn’t so bad expect with some of the staff trying to get under my skin..They were rude and some of them shamed me for being a human and being totally reckless. It really brought my mood down. It was recovered when  i was in the kitchen. Barbatos was already there making desserts. I Heard from Beel that he makes the best food in all three realms, As much as I was curious, i had to get back to work but He stopped me
“Hello Husky”
“oh!..Hey Barbatos”
“Would you mind helping me with the batter? I need to get these ready soon and extra hands would be nice “
“oh, of course” I set my cleaning stuff down and helped
I have baking experience before, I lived with my grandma for a while and i would always bake sweets with her , so this wasn’t really foreign to me Besides some the ingredients. Barbatos took notice how i didn’t struggle
“you have a thing for baking as well? “
“not really. Im just used to it from when i lived with my Grandma. We mainly made Cookies and brownies”
“interesting. maybe you could show me some recipes from the human world , I’d love to try some recipes with you” He looked cheerful and smiled
He ..actually looked really cute when he smiled, the more i see it , i blushed slightly
After making some of the batter and letting them bake, I noticed that took up some time
“oh no! I better-” but then my arm was grabbed
“My lord doesn’t mind you being here as long as you’re at least working” he reassured me , he could see i was stressed
“oh ..well...I can stay as long as needed. “ i said firmly
“good, i actually wanted you as a taste tester as well.”
“huh? but how would i know if it’s good or not? “ I said that since the ingredients in Devildoom are so unique and who knows what devil’s taste are like to what’s good or not.
“oh , don’t worry, i actually have a bit of human ingredients here, i was hoping to make some cakes , maybe some brownies as well, perhaps? “
Just the sound of hearing human world cake or brownies sounded good and if his skills are as good as people say they are, i can’t wait!
“Sure, maybe we can make a 2 layer cake? “
He agreed and soon we started making a cherry maraschino cake , he didn’t struggle much , it was only the ingredients that he wasn’t used to. It was so funny to see him try a maraschino cherry, his face made many different reactions since it was a flavor that blasted when it touched your tongue. I explained that these were mainly used in alcoholic drinks or be turned into candy. He was quite interested and curious to learn more about certain ingredients as well
“Hey, shouldn’t these other desserts -”
“oh the second we finished, they were headed to the dining hall. I don’t need to deliver them myself , all we had to do is get them done”
“oh good, I was scared of taking up too much of your time..”
he smiled “don’t worry about that, I rather enjoy your company “ that really made me blush. It felt nice to be wanted especially since i came here, I’ve been treated like a burden, intentional or not, it was nice that that one person outside of the brothers likes me.
We continued to bake , after the cake was done, it tasted so magical! The sweetness of the cherries and how soft the cake felt! No wonder he was the best, i should save a piece for beel since he liked human world food too! Then i noticed that Barbatos stared at me
“hm..? is something wrong ?” he made me a little worried
Then, he got close to my face. Oh my god- what is he doing then..he kissed my cheek
*Husky.exe has stopped working*
Did..did he really just..KISS MY CHEEK- WHAT- WHY-
I was so flustered and blushed i couldn’t even speak and he just chuckled , thank you so much for laughing at my tomato looking self.
“My apologies, you had cake on your face “
YOU COULD OF JUST TOLD ME “No no it’s fine!”
“I couldn’t help myself..I was curious what you’d taste like..~ “
All i did was stood there, mentally freaking out , how do i respond to that!? more important why do i like it!? quick say something!
“w-why you know that if you actually kissed me..?”
His eye widened in surprise but then He smirked “oh?~”
why.did.i. just. say. THAT- what was i thinking?! I quickly looked around for an excuse to leave and i noticed the time, it was closing to 9. Thank god!
“oh would you look at the time! I have to get ready to go ! “ Then i quickly left before he could get a word in.
I finished up anything that i could do quickly and headed to the entrance but was stopped by Diavolo
“Husky!”
“! H-hello your highness”
“ I heard you helped Barbatos with the sweets today ! You made the sweet hell chocolate cake right? “
I nod and he lightens up “It was amazing! I had no idea you were so skilled in baking! you must bake some more when you can! “
“Im glad you ! It kinda makes me happy to bake..it kinda reminds me of home.”
“well you have permission to help Barbatos again if he asks, you two can discuss it on the carriage”
“huh what do you-” then i stopped. FUCK- i forgot he’s the one who brought me here, so of course he’d be the one to take me home. Diavolo looks at me confused and i reassure him that i was fine, he waved me me off and I saw Barbatos near the carriage . I felt nervous about this time , would it be silent like before ..I’m not sure what will happen. I enter and he soon joins me but,,he sits next to me this time. The first time he sat across, i guess he’s more comfortable with me but that doesn’t change what happened between us.
“How was your first day?” he asked, not looking at me
“It was fine. for the most part “
“oh? why most? “
“...it’s not too much, just some of the staff gave me a little bit of a hard time.”
“...”
His silence is kinda giving me chills with his face looking a little pissed
“L-like i said it was fine mostly! It was better with you! “ I halted at that sentence , shit! that was suppose to be internal-
His face soften after hearing that and he looked directly at me “That’s nice...you made my day as well.”
My heart skipped a beat, my face really blushed , it was too noticeable, Barbatos took note of that , he seemed to be closer now.
“you know..I could bake with you everyday if you want..~ Diavolo wouldn’t mind..~”
The Idea was innocent but his tone wasn’t , Im sure he’d really want to bake with me but Im sure he has other intentions now after that kiss. Did he feel like this before that..? It’ been 3 months since I've been here. Then I noticed how we’re basically close to being face to face , he had his finger and thumb under my chin
“h-huh-” then he lightly kissed me “ hm!”As much as it was too much..i didn’t want him to stop either.
He stops “ I hope we’ll have more interesting days like this in the future~ “
Before i could say anything else, the carriage stops. We’re back at the House of Lamentation, Barbatos gets up and opens the door for me “you should get going “ he smiled
I was still for a moment but then  i got up and left the carriage , before i went inside , he grabbed my hand and gentle kissed the top of it. I was even redder then  i was.
“Have a good day, My Lady~” he closed the carriage when he entered back
My heart was beating so hard the rest of the night and i couldn’t stop thinking about what happen...did i really like Barbatos..? It was so hard to deny it  and just thinking about him made me blush. I got into my room and got changed into comfy causal cloths and laid flat on my bed , and hoped to relax. Now I’m excited to see him again...
(I hope you guys enjoy this! I had fun doing it! Suggest som stuff if you want something like this in the future!)

20 Traditional Polish Foods to Try in Poland or At Home
Ready to take a tour of traditional food in Poland? You’ve got everything from your standard fare that’s been eaten in Poland for generations to dishes that even molecular gastronomist Ferran Adrià would applaud. On your next trip there, make sure you try some of the following food in Poland.
I have to say: before I left for my trip to Poland, my idea of Polish cuisine was pierogi and kielbasa. While I did find those traditional Polish foods aplenty, I also was surprised by the diversity of other foods in Poland, including some pretty amazing contemporary cuisine at cutting-edge restaurants.
Must-Try Traditional Polish Foods
This post was originally written by Susan Guillory and has been updated by The Planet D with even more delicious Polish dishes.
1. Pierogi
Pierogi is a must-try food in Poland
You won’t get far in Poland without running into a pierogi, and believe me, you won’t mind. Eating Pierogi’s in Poland is like eating dumplings are in Asia, or empanadas in South or Central America: flat dough discs stuffed with delightful fillings and then boiled. At the restaurant Zapiecek, which seems to be as ubiquitous as TGIFriday’s in the US (though much tastier in my humble opinion), we also sampled fried pierogi, which, frankly, I preferred.
The most common pierogi are filled with beef, though you’ll find both sweet and savory fillings like twaróg cheese, (a type of cottage cheese) lentils, turkey and carrots, mushrooms, and even fruit or jams. Served with a side of sour cream for savory pierogies or powdered sugar, butter, or even whipped cream for sweet pierogies.
Red Barszcz (Borscht)
Red Barszcs with noodles
Red Barszcz is a Polish beet soup that is similar to borscht of eastern European countries like Russia and Ukraine. (We at a lot of Goulash on the Mongol Rally). Traditional borscht is usually made from cabbage and contains meat and tomatoes while the Polish version of barszcz is meatless and is a basic beet broth soup that is red in color. You can really put anything in you like and it is often served with potatoes and vegetables. Note: White Barszcz is similar but uses fermented rye flour or sour rye bread base. Make your own Barszcz with this authentic European recipe.
Zurek
One soup we had over and over again in Poland (not that I minded) was Zurek, or sour bread soup. It was tangy and creamy, and at Hotel Bristol’s Marconi Restaurant — which got my vote for the best zurek — it also had a quail’s egg and bits of ham.
Nalesniki
Nalesniki is a Polish crepe similar to French crepes. They can be filled with whatever you like and are often eaten as breakfast food. But they can be filled with other ingredients like sauerkraut, cheese, meats, and mushrooms. Popular sweet fillings are jams, fruit, and cottage cheese can also be used. See how to make Nalesniki at home with this recipe.
Krokiety
Krokiety is stuffed Nalesniki (crepes) that are battered with breadcrumbs and fried to perfection. These Polish Croquettes are stuffed with mushrooms and fried onions and are usually served with Barszcz. A traditional Christmas Eve dish, they can also be stuffed with any meat or cabbage. But they aren’t only eaten at Christmas, Korkiety can be found in most Polish food restaurants and food stands. Polish foodies blog has a good recipe to follow.
Mizeria
Mizeria is a refreshing Polish cucumber salad. The term Mizeria means misery in Polish but this salad is anything but miserable. This creamy cucumber salad is made with sour cream, vinegar, fresh dill and salt and sugar.
Salatka Jarzynowa
Another type of Polish salad is Salatka Jarzynowa made of boiled carrots and potatoes. Mix these main ingredients with mayonnaise, pickled cucumbers and peas, and onions. You can also add boiled eggs for some protein.
Rosol
Rosol is a Polish chicken soup that is served on special occasions. Like your grandma’s chicken soup, Rosol is also eaten when feeling under the weather for the ultimate comfort food. The chicken broth is served with noodles, carrots, parsley, and other herbs and spices.
Placki Ziemniaczane (Potato Pancakes)
Mmm mmm good. These Polish potato pancakes are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The easy to prepare recipe makes it a staple in Polish cuisine. Grate potatoes and add eggs and onions and then fry them up in oil for a quick and easy meal. Serve with a side of sour cream and you have a delicious snack. The Polish Housewife shares a couple of recipes here.
Makowiec (Polish Poppy Seed Roll)
Makowiec (strucla makowa) is rolled dough filled with your choice of filling with the main filling being poppyseed. Add butter, sugar, walnuts and raisins and you have a sweet and delicious treat. You can find these poppy seed rolls at any bakery in Poland. And it is often served on holidays like Christmas and Easter. Learn how to make this yummy treat at the Spruce Eats.
Paczki
Another sweet treat to add to your Polish dinner party is Paczki. Paczki are the Polish version of doughnuts. Deep-fried dough is usually filled with jams, fruit, or custards and sprinkled with powdered sugar. People started baking Paczki on Fat Thursday to use up the lard, eggs, and fruit to prepare for the fasting of Lent.
Bison Grass Vodka
At home, I could take or leave vodka, but once I had my first szarlotka (also known as tatanka) beverage upon arrival, there was no going back. Poland is proud of its vodka and will argue to the grave that they — not Russia — invented it and then perfected it. Zubrowka is the brand of choice because of one unique flavor: bison grass. The grass gives the vodka its distinct mellow vanilla flavor, and even decorates the inside of the bottle.
Mix Zubrowka with apple juice, and you have the szarlotka. It helps if you have the amazing light apple juice you can find in Poland rather than the artificial stuff in the US.
Burning Rose Dessert
If you’re like me, you skip dessert at the end of the meal simply because there’s no room in your tummy. But after my fellow travel writers and I saw the cloud-like Burning Rose being delivered to a nearby table at Krakow’s Szaragez, we changed our tune. The clouds turned out to be cotton candy, which was lit on fire to melt to a dish of raspberry parfait. The actual dessert was as good as the performance!
Kabanosy
Kabanosy (kabanos) is a Polish sausage. This long thin strip of sausage is often touted as the finest meat stick in the world. The process of salting and curing this sausage can take from 3 months to one year. It got its name from the nickname given to the young fat pigs (kabanek) that are raised in Eastern Poland with a diet of mostly potatoes.
Golabki – Polish Cabbage Rolls
You can’t visit Eastern Europe without tasting traditional cabbage rolls. Golabki consists of boiled cabbage stuffed with minced meat, rice, and chopped onions. Smother them with a tomato sauce for savory goodness. Check out the Polonist for the ingredients and how to make it.
Bigos – Hunter’s Stew
Bigos is a Polish meat stew and shredded cabbage and sauerkraut. You can really put anything you like in it from different meats to sausages or no meat at all. Slow cook it with mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes and let the aromas seep into your house. Check it out here.
Kopytka
Kopytka is potato dumplings that are popular in southern Poland. They can be eaten as a side dish or as a main meal. Their diamond shape is said to resemble little hooves. Similar to Italian Gnocci, Kopytka can be served any way you like. Top them with tomato sauce, saute them with garlic, mushrooms and onions, top them with buttered breadcrumbs, or even make them a sweet treat with powdered sugar. Get this mashed potato dumpling recipe to make at home.
Kotlet Schabowy (Breaded Pork Cutlets)
kotlet schabowy is similar to Schnitzel
Kotlet Schabowy is a breaded pork chop that reminded me of Schnitzel in Germany or Austria. This main course dish is made of pork that is pounded to a thin piece of meat, breaded with bread crumbs and flour and an egg and then cooked in oil over high heat. Serve with Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes and you have the perfect Sunday afternoon meal.
Gulasz (Goulash)
This comfort food is a Polish stew similar to Goulash you’ll find in Hungary. Gulasz is a meat stew usually made with beef, onions, and tomatoes with a dash of paprika. It can be served over boiled potatoes or noodles and with a side of fresh baked bread. Polish Meals has a good easy to follow recipe here.
Steak Tartare
On our last night in Warsaw, I swore I wouldn’t eat meat again. As amazing as the food had been, I was meated out. But then I saw steak tartare being prepared tableside at Stary Dom, and I knew I was a goner. The chef, in his 60s, I’d guess, prepares between 150 and 200 steak tartare servings each day! First, he deftly chops the steak, then mixes in mushrooms, fried onions, seasonings, and other goodies. The portion was way more than we could eat! I hated leaving it, but what can you do in a country that is so generous with its portions?
Poland surprised me in many ways, not the least of which was its memorable cuisine. Do you like Polish food? What is your favorite dish?

Israeli Pastries Get a New York Metropolis Makeover at LES Bakery
http://tinyurl.com/y4dedu9m Whereas sitting in his eponymous new Israeli-style bakery, 35-year-old baking guru Adir Michaeli paints an image: It’s Friday afternoon in Tel Aviv, and your Jewish mother is cooking for tonight’s Sabbath dinner. Aromas emanating from a rainbow of stews, rice dishes, pot roasts, schnitzels, and kugels waft via the air as you get again from college, ravenous. “Don’t contact something! It’s for tonight!” screams mother as you’re reaching for a meatball. “Go downstairs and get one thing,” she says. So that you stroll into your neighborhood bakery and are welcomed by the slew of girls shopping for challah and children in search of one thing as sweet-smelling and scrumptious because the meals they simply observed in their very own kitchens—albeit not off-limits. Enter the bureka, a baked pastry full of potatoes or spinach and even served plain, heat and moist, that’s a cornerstone of Israeli delicacies and is the precise sort of fare that Michaeli is seeking to serve at Michaeli Bakery on Division Road in New York Metropolis. At first look it’s an odd location however one which finally ends up serving his final purpose: to offer meals to individuals who have but to find the ability of a neighborhood patisserie. “[This] neighborhood didn’t have an actual, traditional bakery shut by, and this was one thing that I wished to do,” Michaeli says whereas sitting within the slim retailer full of crops, an open kitchen, white counter tops, and 6 stools. “It’s very good to go downstairs for a couple of minutes to seize one thing or on the best way from work to choose up some gadgets for the youngsters.” Let’s begin with the fundamentals, which I’ve tried to avoid till now, given Michaeli’s personal disposition: The baker is the genius behind the chocolate babka cake served at Manhattan’s Breads Bakery, which revolutionized the native culinary scene and was, arguably, one of many first-ever desserts to “go viral” on social media. Shifting to New York from his hometown in Tel Aviv again in 2013 to open the American model of Mafiat Lehamim (which interprets from Hebrew to English as “bakery of breads”), Michaeli spent over 5 years at what’s now a New York staple, serving to propel the venue to success largely because of his personal candy invention. However the baker doesn’t need to discuss Breads—and it’s not due to any form of animosity. Quite the opposite, Michaeli left what he calls his “dwelling” (he nonetheless makes use of the pronoun “we” when discussing Breads) underneath nice auspices and calls his new store “second” to Breads’ “first.” (“[It’s] arithmetic, it’s very fundamental: We’re the second, they’re the primary,” Michaeli explains.) However Michaeli says he feels Manhattan is owed one thing new and totally different. That’s not as a result of the babka shouldn’t reign supreme. Michaeli additionally serves the candy cake at Michaeli Bakery, though Michaeli says he prefers “this not be what’s flashing in my bakery. I actually like the truth that this was in Breads, and it ought to keep there as their factor.” Quite, Michaeli thinks the scene is ripe for the types of flavors that might tickle American palates. However Michaeli is fast to notice that he’s dealing in Israeli merchandise and never Jewish ones, as loads of publications have inaccurately labeled his choices. “Custom has nothing to do with faith,” he says, explaining that there actually isn’t such a factor as a “Jewish” baked good. Adir Michaeli on the counter of his Decrease East Aspect store, Michaeli Bakery. Michaeli’s drive to be greater than a one-hit surprise is palpable, particularly when contemplating his devotion to turning the bakery right into a viable enterprise impartial from the level of “viralism” of his creations. Nowhere is that this method extra obvious than in his choice to delay the discharge of what he’s certain might be a scrumptious, revolutionary product till the autumn. “I actually wished the bakery to be revered and beloved for itself, with none buzz,” Michaeli says, echoing his emotions about his connection to the chocolate babka: He desires patrons to stroll in not figuring out a lot about him. “As a result of if the product is nice, and it’s good in my view, I don’t need to combine it with some PR buzz, particularly within the Instagram period.” However curious minds wander, particularly after tasting a roster of sweets now obtainable on the eatery. The mere considered a product much more delectable and so good it must be stored a secret is mind-boggling. The baker is intransigent, although, and divulges solely that the delicacy might be “contemporary each couple of minutes,” has chocolate and “highly regarded parts” inside, and can awaken senses not simply via style but in addition contact. Principally, a gastronomic utopia is about to bombard New York Metropolis. For now, although, New Yorkers must do with Michaeli’s present choices. Amongst them: a unprecedented kugelhopf (“one thing between a super-light brioche and a really wealthy cake”) that begs to be devoured, rugelach cookies drenched in chocolate (in a great way), and three forms of burekas, savory stuffed pastries. The bakery additionally serves apple pies in addition to chocolate and almond croissants, which appear to strike removed from the ethnic idea he’s inviting individuals to take pleasure in. “Some merchandise are traditional and are associated to the idea of the bakery generally,” Michaeli explains. “Particularly once you’re not in your individual nation, you must current one thing that there’s a request for. That’s the idea of excellent enterprise. Then, when the shopper trusts you with what he likes, I consider they’ll be way more open to strive one thing crazier.” Michaeli additionally factors out the supremacy of sure traditional American items. “The American chocolate chip cookie is the most effective I’ve ever tasted. As a result of [Americans] don’t care: They put chocolate, sugar, peanut butter.” His imaginative and prescient of what’s proper throughout the U.S. ecosystem of pastries will get the Israeli therapy along with his yet-to-be-released (however not secret) Enjoyable Cake: “It’s a cheesecake, sort of Ben & Jerry’s–type. I put all the good things inside.” The shattering of pre-established strategies is the driving insanity behind Michaeli’s genius. When requested to check the American means with Israelis’ conduct towards meals, Michaeli says that in his hometown “everyone has an opinion” and that has “helped form our style.” “We put the e-book apart, we put apart all of the skilled conventional processes of the French [so] you’ve this basis to deviate after,” Michaeli continues. “I respect [the French way], however within the final time period of my profession, I began deviating.” So why not observe via along with his unique plans of opening up store in Tel Aviv? “There are many bakeries with ideas much like this in Israel and, throughout my keep right here, I bought to know the town, the American buying and meals habits,” Michaeli says. “I actually really feel there’s loads of area nonetheless for the Israeli taste and contact.” Extra must-read tales from Fortune: —Oaxacan cuisine seems to be poised to make its mark with U.S. diners —Evaluate: Chicago’s Yūgen is pleasant, however generally overwrought —To fight meals waste, these Brooklyn companies teamed as much as brew bagel beer —Toronto is dwelling to a thriving Syrian food scene —Take heed to our new audio briefing, Fortune 500 Daily Follow Fortune on Flipboard to remain up-to-date on the newest information and evaluation. Everything Sarah Hoover Ate on Her Two-Week Trip Through Japan
First and foremost, Sarah Hoover is an art dealer at Gagosian. After that, she’s a mother, and married (to Tom Sachs). But mostly, she’s hilarious. Follow her Instagram for highly unfiltered—in more ways than one—moments of her life, which she spends mostly in Chanel. She entertains with fashion commentary, takes us inside the art world, and documents every last morsel of food she consumes. So when she and her family recently returned from a two-week sojourn through Japan, Hoover came home with a photo stream filled with shots of sushi, matcha ice cream, and plastic groceries. Scroll through all these moments and more.
Baby Guy and I landed in Tokyo and needed to immediately shed our New York looks, don some color, and head to breakfast. I am an art dealer at Gagosian Gallery, and my husband is an artist. We came to Japan for his museum opening at Tokyo Opera City Gallery, and his exhibition at Tomio Koyama Gallery…and because Japan is truly one of the most special places on earth. It has retained its wonderful culture over time so visiting is a unique experience.
I couldn’t tell you the last time I ate breakfast in New York, but it’s not something you miss in Japan if you know what you’re doing. Because breakfast here is Japanese, and it’s savory. You get fish, rice, nori, soup, maybe some fruit, and the tea and coffee in Japan is absolutely perfect. It also comes in beautiful lacquered boxes, and opening each one is like giving yourself a present. A delicious, beautiful, and perfectly cooked present.
I needed to hydrate. And what’s the best way to hydrate in Japan? No not water—don’t be ridiculous—it’s Ramen broth. However, I don’t eat pork and having just been around the sweet baby pigs, I was not about to start eating pork. So off we went to Afuri Ramen, which offers Chicken and Veggie options, and has a special yuzu scented broth.
I needed a sweet treat after my salty lunch, so next up was the Harajuku Kawaii Monster Cafe, which I thought baby Guy would love. He was terrified and not just at the thought of his Mom eating this entire sundae. Unfortunately, it really, really was time for this child to nap, so I only got a few bites before we went to rest.
Just when I thought I was going to have some down time, my baby niece Gray Sorrenti arrived from the airport. And like any good older and wiser Auntie, I took her to the New York Bar at the Park Hyatt and made her drink Espresso Martinis so she could stay up all night with me.
Post drinking, any self-respecting chef will tell you that there is no better snack than the infamous Japanese 7-11 peanut butter sandwich. I am not kidding—look at any of their Instagrams—this sandwich appears on all of them. This is a next level peanut butter experience, where the filling is a soufflé consistency and the bread is as soft and sweet as you remember it being when you were a little kid. And it comes with the crust already cut off so it’s like your mom made it, but it tastes better.
As Anthony Bourdain, our lord and savior taught us, you must always visit a local grocery store. The most astounding thing about grocery stores in Tokyo is how perfect and expensive the fruit is. I saw 35 cherries for $108.00, which made this $11 “premium Hello Kitty banana” feel like a bargain when baby Guy asked for it.
Another interesting sight in a Japanese grocery store is the entire aisle devoted to plastic food.
A beautiful street-side oyster bar in Ebisu.
My sweet sweet baby Guy learned how to use a fork in Japan. This really has nothing to do with Japan I just wanted to brag. If he doesn’t learn how to use chopsticks on the next trip, he and I are going to have to have a serious talk.
Not to be outdone by my ice cream from the day prior, I made a priority of going back to Harajuku to taste test Eddy’s Ice Cream Parlor—a pastel heaven dedicated to frozen yogurt style, candy-dipped cones.
This rolled straight into dinner at the finest steak restaurant in the world, Steak Shima. This statement is a hill I’m willing to die on because whatever you think about eating animals, if you are going to do it, this is the place. The beef comes from cows who are fed sake, massaged daily, and who listen to classical music…and you get your leftovers in sandwich-form for later.
The most special and beautiful drinks experience you can imagine occurs with the great mixologist and host, Gen Yamamoto-san, who presents a prix fixe 6, 8, or 10-course cocktail menu. True elegance.
Could there be a more perfect way to spend a Tokyo evening than doing karaoke with Sofia Coppola in the karaoke room from Lost In Translation on the 16 year anniversary of the movie’s debut? Here is the most fun, kind and incredible director with Kunichi Nomura, international movie star and Japan’s most infamous partier.
Baby Guy and I took a short trip to the surf town of Kamakura, about 1.5 hours from Tokyo, to celebrate my husband’s Nike collection release (which I’m wearing head-to-toe) and to surf with our friends from Hurley (hi @punkerpat!). Kamakura has some lovely temples and bamboo forests, and we needed some chill after the rush of Tokyo.
Monks at the temple perform a short tea ceremony and make bowls of matcha with a sweet on the side.
It was at this point in the trip where I started to miss my intense high fat, high cholesterol diet. Luckily, Japan has absolutely amazing food of every genre, and this includes pizza. Here, from Garden House in Kamakura.
Including this because it made me so happy and I think you all deserve to see it too. Dogs at Garden House receive a placemat and proper seat, as they should.
Back in Tokyo, and I have to fuel up for a final night on the town. Of all the wonderful kissaten (coffee houses) in Tokyo, Cafe De L’Ambre is a favorite for its old fashioned vibe and aged coffee beans. Some are from the 1970s, which I’ve never seen anywhere else! Please note that I don’t drink coffee in New York very often, so one tiny cup of aged coffee and I’m ready to drink all the sake in Tokyo, and then maybe write a novel real quick.
A final night out with the incredible fashion designer Yoon Ambush (who made my necklaces, and the outfits and jewelry of my friends Sam Ratanarat and Erum Shah).
And the last drinks at Bloody Angle, a great record bar in Shibuya. Of course here the ice is perfectly spherical and made from the clearest filtered water. It might have been the only water I had the whole trip, and it was amazing.
My dessert stomach got jealous of my alcohol stomach, and I had to make a final matcha ice cream stop. It’s not in the most obvious of neighborhoods, but Suzukien Asakusa is a veritable paradise, where you can choose the intensity of your green tea flavoring. I’m weak and went with the second to lightest, but it was the most perfect goodbye to my favorite city.

How This Sommelier Pairs Cannabis with Wine and Cuisine
Elise McDonough of Leafly Reports:
When I rolled up at a stately purple Victorian whose address I’d only received hours before, Jamie Evans—better known as “the Herb Somm”—was waiting to greet me with warmth and charm. A vivacious oenophile and expert in Old World vintages, Evans is actively translating the language of tastings and terroir from the established wine field into the more freewheeling world of cannabis.
“You have one season, one seed, one plant to express itself, creating a vintage that will never exist again.”Chef Holden Jagger, Altered Plates
Through her acclaimed “Thursday Infused” dinner series, she introduces well-to-do San Franciscans to cannabis cuisine and connoisseurship in an intimate setting, recruiting a rotating cast of chefs and purveyors to demonstrate their crafts.
“Cannabis is very complex,” she says, “just like wines, certain strains will make you feel uplifted or sleepy, so you can create moods.”
Evans needs to attend to some last-minute tasks (I’ve arrived early by invitation), so I settle into a plush sofa in the backyard to share a joint with Chef Holden Jagger, who’s driven up from Los Angeles to cook for tonight’s guests. A fixture on the So-Cal cannabis cuisine scene through his Altered Plates supper club, Jagger is one of the few chefs working with weed who actually grows his own. He’s also distinguished himself with innovative techniques such as pickling and salt-curing parts of the male plants or using their pollen as a seasoning, Holden came out of skateboarding culture enamored with the idea of “never been done,” slang for nailing challenging tricks in novel spots, and now applies this spirit of bold experimentation to cannabis cookery.
With unruly red hair and a hint of mischievousness about him, Holden says he’s been giving grow tips to other dads in Topanga Canyon, a bohemian enclave north of Santa Monica where he lives with his family. As we passed a jay of his tasty homegrown Royal Sour back and forth, Holden explains that this herb originated with a dearly departed grower named Ras Truth, formerly an influential seed breeder at Emerald Mountain who wrote extensively about the importance of nurturing living soil, and why sungrown cannabis compares favorably to indoor hydro grown under energy-intensive lamps.
Understanding Terroir in the Context of Cannabis
“Why do we celebrate a good bottle of wine?” Holden asks and answers, “Because it’s humanity and nature coming together to produce something special that’s a once-in-a-season opportunity.”
The concept of terroir—literally “of the land”—encompasses every environmental factor affecting the expression of a plant’s genetics, from farming practices and fertilizer regimens to the specific microclimate of the place where it’s grown. How terroir applies to cannabis is an ongoing debate between connoisseurs like Evans and Jagger, especially complex because weed is an annual plant, versus grape vines that live for decades or even centuries.
Chef Holden Jagger plates super-low-dose THC paired cuisine at Altered Plates. (Courtesy Altered Plates)
“With wine, you have a ‘good year,’ but with cannabis you can have a ‘hypervintage’ that is so exclusive…” Holden pauses before articulating this expansive idea. “You have one season, one seed, one plant to express itself, creating a vintage that will never exist again.” Coming from this perspective, a ‘good season’ for cannabis results in flowers that truly represent the weather and soil within the unique environment of a certain farm at a moment in time that can never be repeated, embodying these influences in a particular expression of cannabinoid and terpene profiles. Such specificity makes fine cannabis vintages even more precious and fleeting than any bottle of wine on earth.
Understanding the complexity of different cannabis cultivars, let alone the influence of terroir, requires years of devotion to the plant and its methods of production. Before a wine snob can assume the title of sommelier, they must pass a certifying test administered by The Court of Master Sommeliers, a process that requires years of study. While there’s no comparable program for “cannaphiles,” correctly guessing cannabis cultivars by taste and high alone necessitates a mastery of the plant gained only by the experience of growing it, or at the very least traveling to the regions where cannabis thrives to taste every varietal possible, talking to farmers and witnessing cultivation methods.
Taking a break from party preparations, Evans joins us, explaining how for the average person who just appreciates good food, wine and weed, beginning to experiment with pairing all three sensual delights can be made simple and fun. For newbies to cannabis, Jamie recommends developing connoisseurship by tasting the same cannabis cultivar grown by various farmers and training your senses to recognize the nuances that differentiate them.
How to Pair Cannabis with Wine and Food
When working with chefs, Evans starts her process by first reviewing the menu, looking for standout ingredients to base her pairings on. From there, she employs her “B.I.T.E. philosophy,” an acronym that stands for Balance, Intention, Taste and Enjoy.
Balance
Consider the weight of the wine and the intensity of the flavors in the dish as well as the textures of the food. Evans matches light wines with cannabis cultivars containing citrusy limonene, while pairing more sedating strains with darker, richer wines. If the food is rich, creamy or boldly flavored, she looks for more acidic, bright wines to balance the dish.
Intention
Set the mood for your event by matching the food, wine and weed to the desired atmosphere. Evans starts with pairings to energize her guests, followed by later combinations of wine, weed and food that will soothe them.
Taste
Based on the science of terpenes, Evans looks for common flavors shared by the ingredients in the food as well as the cannabis by smelling and tasting both items side by side.
Enjoy
“Pairing should be fun, so don’t let it stress you out,” says Evans. “There’s really no wrong answers!” Experiment with different wines and weeds until you find matches that resonate on your palate.
Beyond this basic framework, you can also pair flavors based on locality, matching wines with weed from the same region, along with food made from fresh ingredients harvested from nearby farms. Seasonality plays a role too, with delicate, brighter flavors appropriate for summer and more concentrated, intense flavors better suited to winter.
“Take a bite of the food, sip the wine, smell the flower and taste the vape, all those flavors should work together harmoniously,” Evans says, recalling a pairing of Candyland and Rosé that became her summertime favorite. “There was a bright beautiful candied citrus nose to it” that worked well with sunny warm days and light, refreshing cuisine.
Turning to winter flavors, Holden waxes poetic about a phenotype of In the Pines stuck in his memory due to its incredible piney-ness, remarking that he “paired it with venison and mussels in a coconut broth, and that was one of my favorites.”
Perched at the end of the long marble counter that serves as a chef’s table, Holden begins to assemble dishes, adding precise doses of THC with a tincture dropper. The entire meal contains 5 milligrams of THC, a microdose that’s barely perceptible to most cannabis users. Before each course, we’re also treated to passed vape pens and sniffs of Utopia Farms cannabis as Evans explains the wines and Holden talks up the food.
Dinner opens with a first course of Celeriac with purple potato, maitake mushroom, miso and honey, the celery root flavor complimenting Evans’ choice of a Balletto Pinot Gris 2017 to sip alongside. With notes of candied tangerine and citrus, the Pinot Gris matches the aromas and flavors from Utopia Farms’ Clementine cannabis flowers, as well as the deeper savory notes of the Master OG vape cart from Kurvana.
Capturing the feeling of summer fading into fall, the unctuous Roasted Duck Tostada that follows incorporates butternut squash, savory peanut sauce, salty cotija cheese and spicy salsa verde to create a rich dish with a slight sourness. Selecting for a wine that would stand up to the bold flavors of the roasted duck, Evans decided to go with a Buttonwood Rose 2017 because of its soft red berry notes, bright citrus, and cleansing acidity. Made from bolder Syrah grapes, this versatile rosé brings great depth to flavor, balancing the spicy richness of the duck while its citrus notes compliment Utopia’s Golden Lemons and Kurvana’s Citron OG.
Dessert brings Malt Semifreddo with roasted banana and chocolate, complimenting Utopia’s C. Banana cannabis flowers and a Banana Smoothie vape from Kurvana. With a burst of tropical fruit notes, the paired Rancho Sisquoc Sylvaner 2016 brings acidity and brightness, a great match for a rich dessert. Not overly sweet, this final wine cleanses our palates, bringing another soigné evening to its conclusion.
Being fortunate enough to enjoy gourmet food, wine ,and weed should (and does) inspire gratitude for the time and place where you find yourself, as well as the labor that went into producing your artisanal fare. Just like the practice of cooking or winemaking, growing and consuming cannabis ties us to the earth and the cosmos, bringing art and intention into our lives. Celebrating cannabis, educating yourself about it, and caring about how it’s grown introduces enthusiasts to true connoisseurship, deepening the relationship to the plant and the people who grow it, cook with it and love it.

There are some invitations you simply cannot say ‘no’ to. For us it was the invitation to visit the Chocolate Trail in Stratford. We accepted right away especially because chocolate was involved. We also agreed to invitation because we LOVE the town of Stratford. It is a small, picturesque town with lots of charm, character and, as we learned first-hand, chocolate! Here is a quick recap of our first visit to Stratford. Tony is still upset about his stolen french fries! Watch the video to see what happened.
We wanted to remember just exactly how ‘sweet’ our second visit was so we filmed a vlog:
If you liked the video then subscribe to our YouTube Channel to view all our videos!
Getting There
Stratford, located in Southwestern Ontario, is approximately an 1.5 – 2 hour drive from Toronto.
Stratford is also easily accessible from Toronto by bus (during the Stratford Festival) or train.
Cost & Availability
Passes for the Chocolate Trail can be purchased online or in person at the Stratford Tourism office and cost $30 + HST per person.
The Chocolate Trail is open year round and passes are valid for 1 week from the date of purchase. The passes make for great gifts too!
The Trail
The Chocolate Trail is simply a self-guided food tour so if you love go-at-you-own-pace tours then you love this one.   Each pass also includes 6 vouchers for use at any of the 27 participating locations. Vouchers are later exchanged at a participating location for a special sweet treat made with…you guessed it…chocolate!
The first thing you’ll need to do once you pick up your pass and map is plan your route. Most participating locations are within walking distance of one another with a few locations further away so select your 6 stops wisely if you do not have a car.
If staying for a weekend or longer its possible to visit all 27 locations however the passes provide 6 vouchers.
Tumblr media
Our Itinerary
Our visit to Stratford was a day-trip and here’s a quick recap of how we spent the day.
Tumblr media
We arrived at the Stratford Tourism Office at 10AM to pick up our passes and a map. Once we had our passes in hand we popped over to Revel around the corner for a mochaccino. As you can see from the video it was a very cold day so the hot mochaccino gave us the perfect amount of warmth we needed.
We then drove to Junction 56 distillery and although we arrived a few minutes after 11 the tour had not started yet. We got lucky in that the tour consisted of just another couple and us. Our tour guide, Leah McGuire, then took us into the distillery and gave us both a tour as well as a detailed explanation of the ingredients and distillation process. Leah did an amazing job in explaining the differences in how vodka, gin and moonshine are distilled including the flavouring process. We then headed over to the tasting bar where we able to sample the product (this was our favourite part of the tour!). Our Chocolate Trail passes included a voucher for a small bottle of chocolate liquer to take home.
We were really hungry following our distillery tour and found out that a new diner, Planet Diner, had opened 2 weeks prior, so we just had to check it out. Planet Diner’s menu has a unique feature in that majority of its menu items are vegan and vegetarian. There are however a few options for meat-eaters. The Diner serves a brunch menu on weekends until 3PM so we ordered a couple of brunch items for our lunch.
Following our delicious brunch we noticed that our sweet tooth was reactivated so we chose Black Angus Bakery as for some dessert. The Bakery has just about any baked good one would want. They have fresh bread, pastries, squares, cakes and so much more on display and for sale. We redeemed one voucher for our Chocolate Trail treat which was a package of 8 assorted squares. Those squares were so fresh and delicious we had to stop ourselves from eating all of them on the spot.
From the Bakery we headed back towards City Hall and spotted our next stop Chocolate Barr’s. The Barr’s are a husband & wife combo who have been operating the business for over 15 years. Derek Barr is the chocolatier who enjoys working in the open-concept production facility to personally craft various chocolates and candies by hand, whereas his wife Jacqueline manages the retail shop and other business affair. We were fortunate to speak with Derek and immediately noticed his passion and dedication to his craft. We traded in another voucher and left with a box of 3 handmade truffles.
We headed to Rheo Thompson Candies next to try their famous and signature item a mint smoothie. It’s not what you think if you’re expecting to drink it out of a cup with a straw. It’s a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate, with a smooth mint-flavoured filling. They’re so good, and while filming our vlog, Tony couldn’t wait to try them that he just broke into the box of mint smoothies on camera while a member of the staff was describing the taste and texture.
We then continued on to our last chocolate shop visit of the day at The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. A soon as we walked in we immediately noticed chocolates and candies we did not see at other shops in town like candy apples, gummi worms, chocolate dipped cheescake and so much more. We now understood the expression “kid in a candy store” because that’s exactly how we felt!
After all the walking we did we decided to made our last and final stop on the Chocolate Trail a place where we could sit and relax.  We decided to grab a pint of the specially crafted Porter with cacao nibs from Black Swan Brewery.  Black Swan in a local microbrewery with a small retail store front and bar so we were able to sit back, relax and try not to think about how much chocolate we had just eaten.
So there you have it.  That’s our recap of the places we visited during our trip along the Chocolate Trail.  If you’re headed to the area soon we’ve got our recommendations already lined up for you.
3 Things You Must Try!!!
Here’s a list of our recommendations from a few of the stops we made.
1. Revel – The Mochaccino. The only thing as good as the mochaccino is one of the donut du jour’s however you’ll need to act fast as they typically sell out by mid-morning especially on weekends.
2. Rheo Thompson Candies – Mint Smoothies. This is after all their specialty and best-seller. The best part is once you’ve eaten them all you can order more online.
3. Chocolate Barr’s Candies – Dark Chocolate Cluster. This sweet-treat made of nuts, caramel and chocolate is melt-in-your-mouth goodness.
We thoroughly enjoyed our ‘sweet’ stroll through Stratford and hopefully burned off as many calories as we consumed.
If you’re looking for a fun, relaxed and special way to enjoy Stratford with a friend or family member we highly recommend the Chocolate Trail. We guarantee that it’s the best value and way to satisfy your sweet tooth in Stratford!
Our visit on the Chocolate Trail and to Planet Diner was sponsored by Visit Stratford however all opinions, recommendations & reviews are our own.

Prosper With educator In 1 Day.
5 Best Ways To Offer instructor.
Main scientific research refers to the scientific research courses that are taught between the grades of Kindergarten as well as 5th grade. First time the students of class tenth experienced a female instructor in the class. Our teachers are persons that add much right into future society with its very own cultures, norms and also worths. It is a lot less human compared to SAYA, the substitute educator in the Japanese scientific research class I showed you in the initial video clip. Before you call, take a look at the trainee's previous background with previous instructors if you can, have some notes prepared regarding just what you want to say, restrict the problems to talk about so parents are not bewildered, as well as end the phone call on a favorable note with an arrangement to follow up at some time in the future.
5 Ways Of instructor That Could Own You Bankrupt - Rapid!
Or it may also be feasible that the instructor made use of some kind of falsity or betrayal to capitalize on the pupil's degree of immaturity. Educators have to collaborate with educator aides as well as unique education educators Additionally, they should go over students' demands with managers as well as parents. If you have the moment and also the skill for cooking, this is one terrific method making an educator smile! Choosing one of the most practical activity will rely on the subject the instructor is educating and also on the level of his pupils. I presume that this type of teacher simply really did not understand how you can quality some things (e.g. course engagement or task payment), as well as simply given out a grade without much thought. For instance I told my youngsters that I'm the very best instructor ever and also they entire heartedly believe me. I additionally told them that I am 99 years of ages, when in truth I am only 33. When you are looking for somewhere to go with your teachers qualification, all of this information is extremely essential. In order to keep your job and also come to be an educator with the right qualifications you must obtain your masters. You are plainly a specialized educator as well as care about the wellness of your trainees quite. My students maintain their checklists in their binders or folders that go house with them every day. In Pennsylvania, the ordinary starting instructor income was $41,901 in 2012-13, inning accordance with the National Education Organization The state provides differential pay and also loan mercy as motivations for mentor in high-needs schools or in disciplines with scarcities.
10 Funny instructor Prices quote.
Make Donut Day any kind of day in your class with this great mini-lesson as well as book, If You Give a Pet a Donut by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Brown. Inning accordance with the Department of Labor, some educators instruct two courses a day even now. Deluxe sugary foods as well as candy presents produce delicious treats as well as are gorgeous in presentation so your kid's educator will obtain a triple result of satisfaction: the shock of receiving the present, enjoying the eye-catching discussion of the dessert and finally the satisfaction of the treat tantalizing his/her taste buds. Besides, if an educator does not occur to know a particular thing, he should never impersonate if he understands it. This is because, if, at any type of phase, the children come to know that their teacher does not know, he just reveals that he knows, they lose all regard for him. And also he is generating an EXCEPTIONALLY NICE supplemental salary for our family. Educator professional development maintains instructors approximately date on brand-new theories of how children find out. In equaling the modern-day times, you could not reach meet your teachers regularly however on Teachers Day, it's time to give thanks to that special educator goji cream fórum that was your personal motivation. Though the teacher and also the children are a generation apart, it would be great high quality in an educator if he could comprehend the issues of the youngsters, and also in order to help them out of their apparently little issues, and feel for them. At my school we hug on the last day of college teachers hug students, pupils hug teachers, instructors hug instructors, and pupils hug trainees. These problems are four more of the mistakes that English instructors can make in the communication class in Japan. As a result, their trainees frequently endured since these teachers didn't put the effort right into those other much less liked subjects that they need to have. Previous art instructors can use lessons, as well, in addition to operating at art museums or galleries. From the very first, pupils seemed interested when we dived into the tale; and also I made certain my plan was functioning the adhering to day when I heard one boy say tongue-in-cheek that his friend was a wine sack with a dog's eyes" while they waited in a lunchroom line for a lunch girl to pass them pieces of pepperoni pizza.

“You are going to pay $75/- to eat vegetables? You are crazy!” exclaimed my father when he learned that I am going to Dirt Candy for a special event on Canada Day.
“They are not just vegetables dad. They are cooked in a unique way – in ways we could never imagine.”
“They are still vegetables,” he responded, still questioning my decision.
Well, I don’t blame him. I had the exact same feeling when I first heard of Dirt Candy which is is located on the Lower East Side of NYC.
http://www.dirtcandynyc.com/
I went there for the first time last year and was impressed by the chef’s creativity. When I heard vegetarian restaurant, I thought pasta, salads and grilled vegetables – but Dirt Candy is not that. I didn’t write about it back then and so my memory is flawed but the two most memorable dishes were:
Tumblr media
Brussels Sprout Tacos
Brussels sprouts tossed in Mexican bistek sauce and served on a sizzling stone with iceberg lettuce wrappers and accompaniments so that diners can make their own tiny bites that are one part Chinese sung choi bao and one part strange Mexican tacos.
The accompaniments are usually: smoked avocado, pickled red onion, cotija cheese, radishes, crispy brussels sprout leaves, tortilla strips, pickled jalapenos, salsa verde, and crema.
Not in my wildest dreams would I imagine eating brussels sprout tacos and loving them.
Tumblr media
Kale matzoh balls served in kale galangal broth with stir-fried shisito peppers and red amaranth. Topped with pickled okra seeds, micro cilantro, and a poached egg. Matzoh ball soup is supposed to be comforting, and there’s nothing more comforting to me than a poached egg slowly dissolving into a warm, rich, spicy soup.
This is the most insanely delicious soup that I have ever had and now you know what I mean by clever? I love matzoh balls and the other ingredients mentioned above, but never could I come up with these combinations or the techniques she uses to transform foods we are all familiar with.
Now back to my current meal at Dirt Candy which was last week. Amanda Cohen the brilliant chef is from Canada and so to celebrate Canada Day she organized a special meal where we would go camping indoors.
That’s where the aforementioned $75 for vegetables comes in. My mom made the reservation for me as a special treat and I went with a couple of friends.
The room was strung with Canadian flags and several televisions were playing camp movies. The red and white table cloths were to mimic picnic tables and the scene was festive.
We took our seats and were first presented with a basket full of jalapeno hush puppies and maple butter.
I may not have had too many hush puppies in my life but I can say that I never met a hush puppy that I didn’t love. I’m not sure how you can ever go wrong with fried dough and to guild the lily, maple butter. I was in heaven. These were hot and crispy and I had to tell myself that this was the first course of a multi course meal.  I think I forced myself to stop at 3 or 4. I don’t recall.
Tumblr media
The menu was a preset menu where one could eat an unlimited amount  of food- music to my ears.
Next came a plate of nachos, which was the only dish that tasted like many plates of nachos I have had before. Nothing wrong with it but not something I would associate with this restaurant or this chef.
But hey, we are camping and I’ll eat anything.
I had been watching empty jars going into the kitchen and could not figure out what was in them. I couldn’t wait to see. My question was answered when the waiter placed in front of us 4 salads in glass jars set in a baking tray. Now this is what I am talking about. This is why I was here. The presentation was unique, an idea that I am surely going to steal in my meals and the salads were delicious.  They were:
Grilled Caesar Salad!
Tomato and Feta Salad!
Smoked Potato Salad!
Herb and Bean Salad!
My absolute favorite was the Smoked Potato Salad – no surprise that I loved the potato salad the most but the smoke in the potatoes was such an amazing flavor that I just couldn’t stop eating it. I thought it was liquid smoke and labeled it as such on Instagram and wouldn’t you know it – I got a message from Dirt Candy telling me that they smoke their potatoes and don’t use liquid smoke.
I love it when I hear from the restaurant or bar that I have tagged.
And so I stand corrected. They smoke their potatoes! I am absolutely going to replicate this dish at home and since I don’t have the smoking apparatus that they must, I am going to add a couple of drops of liquid smoke.
The other salads were lovely too.  The Grilled Caesar was made with baby Romaine hearts – grilled and I couldn’t tell you how she made the dressing taste that way without the anchovies. I love anchovies and always put extra in my dressing but this was done very well.
I will be honest, after having my share of the Caesar salad and the other salads – I couldn’t help but lick the potato salad jar clean with my fingers. Oh, and I forgot to tell you – the potato salad was topped with chips that made the salad look even prettier and the crunch was an important component to add to my overall satisfaction.
Can you guess what this is?
The cutest baby corn ever! I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t even know that baby corn grows this way. I thought it was some factory produced product. Don’t I feel stupid. Now I have to investigate how baby carrots are made 🙂
These are Grilled Baby Corn, Elote Style! Adorable little baby corn charred in the husk, topped with cheese and a little drizzle of lime. It was so good – I wished there were more than one – but I just couldn’t get over how damn cute and delicious these things were. I ate the whole thing – husk and all.
Tumblr media
Yogurt Grilled Baby Vegetable Kebabs!
Even a champion eater like me was beginning to feel full but these kebabs were too delicious to pass.  There was broccoli, cauliflower, baby zucchini and either baby eggplant or a summer squash – I couldn’t tell.  The vegetables were marinated in yogurt, grilled to develop a nice char -which I love, served over saffron rice. The flavor of the rice stood up to the very assertive flavors of the vegetables. The rice reminded me of the rice that you get in the quintessential “Chicken and Rice” dish from the NYC halal carts. I mean this as a compliment. The plate was sprinkled with Sumac which I made the waiter confirm for me. I like playing – name that ingredient games with myself.
Carrot Sliders!
Things were getting serious now. I was getting so full but the food kept coming, and I have to eat everything – I just have to.
Carrot sliders you say? Yes indeed. Hands down, one of the most delicious and the most creative dish on the menu, and probably the most unique dish I have ever had. And I eat a lot. Trust me.
We were all so thrilled with the cute boxes that were placed in front of us that I forgot to pay attention to each component of the slider. I do remember that the bun tasted as though it was most likely baked on premises. It was like no popular bun that I have tasted before. And the carrot – it was a thick (ok 1/8th inch) slice of carrot that was soft but not mushy. I couldn’t tell you how it was cooked. I remember seeing some lettuce and there was some dried crunchy sea weed like thing too. But what was the best thing that added to the whole ‘burger’ experience was the ‘special sauce’ that one gets at McDonald’s. Once again, I mean that as a compliment.
The bun was chewy, the carrot was sweet, the lettuce was crunchy and the special sauce tied the whole thing up in a neat little flavor package for your mouth. Those 3 bites were pure bliss.
Broccoli hot dogs
Beet po boys
Things were getting a tad out of hand now. We have been eating for 2 hours. My back was hurting a little from all the sitting and I wanted to stretch my legs. But the food just wouldn’t stop coming. “Where is the hot dog and the Po’ boy?” asked one of my dining companions to no one in particular.
“Oh yah, we have those too,” I replied.
I was imagining the hot dog to be a hot dog made of broccoli but what we got was the above. I think its hysterical. It was a broccoli stem in a bun with hot dog toppings like sour kraut and onions maybe. I could stop laughing and I couldn’t stop eating. It was so simple and so good.
The po’ boy was made with yellow beets and mimicked oysters in their look and there was the wonderful crunch of a fried oyster with the creamy soft center. I am running out of words to describe this fun food, and definitely room in my stomach. So good – I will say and leave it at that.
Berry & Nutella Moose Ears
Sweet Pea & Mint Nanaimo Bars
“Okay they must stop now. I am going to explode,” I said.
“But we still have dessert.”
“Yes we do,” I sighed.
And so we were brought moose ears with nutella and berries.  Turns out moose ears are fried dough. They reminded me of zeppoles.
Nainamo bars are a bar dessert which requires no baking and is named after the city of Nanaimo, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. It consists of a wafer crumb-based layer topped by a layer of custard flavored butter icing which is covered with melted chocolate made from chocolate squares.
The version we were presented had a nut bar type of consistency on the bottom made with dates and nuts, topped by what I think was some sort of marshmallow thingi, a sweet pea ice cream and then chocolate. It was a fancy frozen ice cream sandwich to me.
It was quite good but I couldn’t get through more than a quarter of it.  It’s just that I am not a big dessert person and I was really really full.  The moose ears are just not my type of dessert. Even though I am a huge fan of fried dough – somehow when it is sweet, it doesn’t appeal to me. My friends enjoyed it though, and finished up both desserts with no problem at all.
Phew! That ended the eating portion of the program. We began eating nearly three and a half hours ago!
We were satiated, happy and I was thrilled by some of the foods I had never had or imagined could be so good.
On my way out of the ladies room, I briefly said hi to Chef/Owner Amanda and complimented her on her innovative thinking.
We waddled out to First avenue and found our way back home.
I came home and showed all the pictures of the foods I ate to my dad. “So dear father, this is what you get for $75/-.  Very delicious and satisfying food. Most importantly fun and full of flavors I have never experienced before!”
I am not sure if I will ever convince him to go with me, but I am sure to go back myself. Dining at Dirt Candy is a unique experience and I would urge you to put away your prejudices against vegetables that many of us have and just go with an open mind. I doubt you will be disappointed.
Until I eat out again!
    “Yes we do,” I sighed.
A Review of Dirt Candy in NYC "You are going to pay $75/- to eat vegetables? You are crazy!" exclaimed my father when he learned that I am going to Dirt Candy for a special event on Canada Day.
