You ever get a glitch that just makes you just stare at your screen like
I'm playing the other night, and while one of my Sims is on his business lot I pop into his relationship panel, and notice somehow he has a 100 over 100, best friends and in love relationship with the customer he's talking to.
I'm wondering how the hell that happened since I don't remember ever seeing them talking, plus my playable is a gay man and the other Sim is a straight man.
Then I look a little harder.
100 over 100 relationship scores, best friends and in love with TWENTY-NINE other Sims in the hood. Including plenty of women, which a gay man would not be attracted to anyways. Mix of playables and townies, a couple who I think are just bartenders the game has generated.
I have NO idea how it happened. I checked all the other members of his household, no one else had that issue. This was also on the very first day of their round so likely it was like this when I first loaded their lot this round.
I ended up having to spend quite a while teleporting all these Sims over, making them selectable to check from their side of the relationship panel what their scores should be (most of them he hardly knew, like 6 over 6 relationship scores were about the average) and manually resetting all the flags and scores with the Sim Blender and Sim Manipulator. Also confirmed all 30ish of those Sims didn't have any other anomalies in their other relationships either.
I run Hood Checker quite regularly, it came up with nothing. I've also run different versions of HCDU quite recently to suss out another totally unrelated minor conflict, but I know nothing came up regarding any mods that affect relationships.
I guess I just have to chalk this up to a big daddy game glitch for now, unless and until it happens again (hopefully not) and I can investigate it further then.
(PS - I told my mom about this glitch and her response was "Maybe the Sim is just a tramp." lmaaaaao)
(Edit - cause discovered in the comments!)

Get dressed action on towel racks
A while ago I started using @episims' wonderful towel lite mod that makes our Sims put on a towel or a bathrobe after they shower or bathe. It adds a delightful touch of realism that is really fun. But as much as I enjoy taking my rich lady from her fancy bathroom to her walk in closet in a towel, sometimes I don't want to send my Sim past their bedroom to get dressed. When I shower I usually get dressed in the bathroom, putting on clothes I hung by the towels before getting in the shower. I thought, why can't my Sims do the same? With a little imagination, I re-purposed the actions of the Seasons coat rack to add clothes-changing animations to the towel racks that most of my Sims already have in their bathrooms, so that I can pretend they too put out their clothes on the towel rack before getting in. I wasn't sure if it was worth uploading but you guys loved the idea so here we go! :)
I only added everyday, formal and pyjamas because those are the three I thought it likely I would ever want. Shower during the day? Everyday clothes please! Girlies got ready for a night out? Get glam with your formal wear! A shower before bed? You'll want your pyjamas. The other categories seem unlikely, but I am open to updating it if there's a persuasive reason :)
As you can see in the video Sims are pretty decent about using the towel racks, even if they are on a wall behind stuff. I haven't altered the actual code to navigate to it, it uses the same slot as viewing the deco object did previously, which in my test has worked well. In the end I had to use different animations for children because the coat rack uses a step stool which needs a slot that the deco objects do not have and I could not figure out adding one. It was either different animations or floating in the air, so different animations it is :)
I've edited three of the Maxis towel racks. "Towel on a Metal Rod", "Towel on a Wooden Rod" and "Towel Hanger Plus Plus". I'm also sharing one edited CC towel rack by Simply Styling, which I discovered through @gayars recolors found on her website here.
Get maxis towel rack add on on SFS | Get Jope towel rack on SFS
If any creators would like to add these edits to their own towel racks, please feel free to do so. To make it easier on you, or any simmer that simply wants to update things they downloaded, I prepared a download package with the resources you need and some basic instructions. It's not step by step, it assumes you are familiar with edits. Should anyone want or need more detailed instructions, I am happy to help when I can :) (Update 2024-03-06 I replaced the routing mechanism in the interactions, to avoid a slot-missing error that happens in some CC objects that do not have a routing slot)
Conflicts: The maxis towel rack add on are global plug in for those objects, which means there is a potential for conflicts. HCDU+ will find any conflicts, but I doubt there are any. Indirect conflicts may also occur if you have mods that add additional interactions to deco objects, they would not show on the towel racks because I have overridden their usual pie menu.
Credits: whoward69 at @picknmixsims who taught me how to edit event trees in animations, @episims for the towel lite mod that inspired this, @gayars who taught me how to repurpose animations between objects and for introducing me to the jope towel, and all you lovely people that encouraged me to post this with your enthusiasm <3

I'm out of ideas on how to fix this error.
I've had this object error pop up once every sim day in every lot, since at least July 2022. What I tried:
I ran What Caused This with this error log, all the results that came up were "secondary possible", which is the least likely category to be the culprit. I loaded the game with all these files alone and I could not replicate the error.
I ran HCDU Plus and removed every mod that affected the Function - Main BHAV, as well as others that were not meant to be used together. The error persisted.
I removed every weather mod, like Immersive rain and SophieDavid's lot-based weather controls. The error persisted.
I sorted mods by creation date to try and find any mods that were installed around July 2022. Removed any mods around that date. Still, the error persisted.
When the error pops up, I always hit reset. I don't even know if the error does anything after that. I noticed that in late autumn, sims going outside will sometimes have high temperature seemingly for no reason, but I can't be sure this is related to it.
My only option left is doing to 50/50 method, which is a monumental task when my mods folder alone takes up 400 MB of disk space, with 2735 files.
So, before I try that, has anyone experienced this specific error before and knows what could cause it? Or is there any other solution I can try besides 50/50?
UPDATE
Yesterday, before going to bed, I deleted a bunch more mods that were conflicting, and while testing today, the errors stopped. But of course, I was disorganized and tired and I don't know which mod did it. I'm going to have to organize my mods more carefully.

Hi Ilenia! This isn't really a request, but I noticed that the food from the functional High School Cafeteria mod always go invisible every time sims set them on a table, and would only re-appear if I grab the table in buy mode. I'm wondering if this is just a me problem, though I didn't detect any conflicts in HCDU plus. Thanks!
Oh I'm sorry about that but this is not happening in my testing clean hood as you can see here:
Has anyone else the same problem?

Hi Bella :) following in the footsteps of the anon commenting on your 2024 simming goals, I wanted to second the hope that you might make more videos on the topic ^^ I'd basically be interested the your whole process! Like will you be starting from scratch or are do you have a certain set of essential mods, that you will be keeping? Could you explain how you deal with conflicts? Oh god, tumblr asks are too short x_x I have to many questions :D should I send them via discord-channel or -dm?
Hello, thank you! That's so great to hear🥰 I will definitely make more videos on it. So I will still be roughly following my mod list plus a load of mods I left in a 'test' folder I never got around to adding to the list, but I will be re-downloading and re-organizing everything from scratch to make sure I have the latest updates, and name & organised in the most optimized way and handle conflicts better as I go. I will also be re-making my mod list on a brand new website coming soon. I will try to do a video about conflicts where I show several examples as it's really situational so there's no one-size-fits-all rule for conflicts. I am able to go more advanced with making compatibility patches and edits in some cases, but as advice for the general user I would just say check conflicts using the HCDU+, bare in mind not all conflicts are problems (you can have hundreds of mod conflicts and never have an issue in your game - I had hundreds last time) and a lot of conflicts are deliberate and actually resolve the potential problems too, just load your conflicting mods with the ones you'd prefer/prioritize last by sticking a 'z' on the front of the filename or something. BCON & STR conflicts are often simple to fix imo, but BHAVs can be much more complicated, but hopefully I can show at least an example of each kind in a video soon. I will also make many mod showcase videos. Feel free to ask questions where you'd prefer, though I always think if it's in a place where other people can see too like Discord then we may also be able to help others along the way😊

Got a question about the Chris Hatch visit hack. How does it work exactly? I added the mods in 'downloads' in its own folder, but it is nowhere in my game. Do I have to be friends with sims first before visiting their lots? I clicked on a vehicle, but the 'visit other lots' menu doesn't pop up anywhere. What am I supposed to do?
Hi!
Chris Hatch's mod adds two new interactions with a car: "Visit.../Lot" and "Visit.../Sim". I took a quick glance at the code and it doesn't seem to me that knowing other Sims is a requirement for visiting them. I might have missed something, of course.
I recommend that you run a conflict scan with a hack conflict scanning program (you can use SiMidge or HCDU Plus).
If you have any further problems, please contact me via DM - asks aren't really useful for this type of communication.
@atomtanned asked:
Hi Meduza, I've just found your version of More Computer Options! Excited to try it out in my game. midge's version had an STR conflict with simler90's Toy Skills mod and yours is showing this conflict as well. (/post/190051865354/hi-just-got-simler90s-toy-mod-on-mts-and-hcdu on midge's blog). Not a big deal because just the pop-up is incorrect, but I tried to fix it myself and failed, so I figured I'd let you know! Thanks for all your amazing mods 💚
Hi! I checked the code and it seems that the versions of Midge's "More computer options" that I used incorporated changes done by simler90 in their "Toy and Game mods". Therefore, my edit incorporates simler90's mod as well. I don't really have the time to check it in my game but it looks that if my mod loads after simler90's "Toy mod", you should receive correct skill dialog, i.e. logic dialog for playing games and doing crosswords, and creativity for anything else.
I know my answer isn't helpful, but are you sure these two mods are loading in the correct order?
@kyogokudrack asked:
I gotta ask but i got an issue everytime a ghost sim use the tombstone… simingly they change into bats like vampire for the duration of the interaction it's kind of odd??? Any idea of how i should go on about fixing this? I'm using all your ghost mods.
Hi! Yes, that's odd. Ghosts are turned invisible for the time they haunt graves and urns and I don't recall them relying on flying objects (unlike fairies). I might be wrong, though.
I don't have this issue in my game, but I updated useable ghost grave and ghost urn in a way that should hopefully get rid of your problem. Please redownload those objects.

Hi Goat! HCDU Plus shows a conflict between your coat 'Goat_CatsMeowCoat_ALShoes_Frost' (goatskickin tumblr com/post/702867244401803264) and kitteninthewindow's dog fur 'KitW_CustomDogFurs_BlondePrimer' (kitteninthewindow tumblr com/post/168117654349). Is this a conflict that can be ignored?
😳
UM oh wow, I have no idea?
That rc of clothing has nothing to do with that dog fur. I did not even know it existed.
Anyone with a better idea of cc conflicts have any input?
Anon do what keeps your stuff safe though.

Photo Dump plus a major win
So last time I was filming my game was crashing nonstop to the point of tears, I couldn't even film in Bella Donna Cove which is where I always film. I had to film in an empty hood. So I took my downloads folder out which was 50gbs originally. Got rid of a bunch of stuff I don't use. My folder is now 15gb. I ran my folder through hcdu plus and got rid of all the conflicting cc. I have been able to load multiple lots in one play session and I haven't had any pink flashing! I also set up the empty standby list thing and there was an update to graphics rules maker. I also had a bunch of accessories that didn't have thumbnails and learned how to make custom accessory thumbnails through theraven's tutorial! I'm basically trying to make filming as stress/crash free as possible.

Throwing this out there in case anyone else has come across this... I have a mod conflict but HCDU and HCDU plus can't identify it, and I've narrowed it down to about 53 mods but I'd rather see if someone else has any ideas or has come across this before I do the tedious work of 50/50 (especially since testing requires sending a Sim to a community lot every single time).
I have the crafting skills and tweaks mod, which is great. However I've noticed with at least the flower crafting station (the Maxis one and CC ones modded to work with this mod) that when Sims use the crafting station on an owned business lot, they can't choose the colour scheme of the bouquet.
I tested it in my tester game and once I removed almost all my other mods but kept crafting tweaks in, that problem went away. So I know it's not really a problem with crafting tweaks.
Once I added my other "Hobby and Skill Mods" back in, the problem reappeared.
So ONE of these mods below is causing the conflict, although as I said HCDU/HCDU plus find no conflicts when scanning.....
Has anyone else encountered this or have any ideas of where the issue might lie before I tear my hair out spending hours on the 50/50 method?

Hi Epi! I've been trying out your Petless displays and have noticed that after a few seconds the cat display will still spawn a cat anyway; has this happened at all on your end?
Hi! I double tested just to be sure and the display still stayed empty in my game. It's weird that it happens to you as the display doesn't have code to spawn a cat anymore.
Is there any chance you also downloaded that open default of mine and mixed the two? Asking because that's happened to me a few times.
If it's not that, I wonder if there could be a GUID conflict? The GUIDs of the new displays are randomized, so it's always possible I had a bad luck. You can check for conflicts with either HCDU plus or SimPe's GUID scanner. If you do find one, I'd appreciate if you could let me know, too!

Hi, Alice! I've just donwloaded your asexual trait with the compatibility patch for BellaDovah's mod and HCDU Plus showed a conflict between the patch and easy inventory check, is this expected behaviour? Loved your version BTW, thank you so much for sharing!!
Oh, I imported the custom bhav from easy inventory check while I was working on it because it makes it easier to see what I'm doing and it looks like I forgot to delete it from the final version of the HopelessRomantic-Aromantic patch. It shouldn't cause any issues in-game because the resources in them are identical but I updated the file so if you download it again, HCDU should no longer detect a conflict. Thanks for pointing that out!

@kaylynn-is-typing
So, merging falls a little bit outside the scope of the original post, but it deserves some explanation:
A big mistake a lot of people make when merging mods or cc, is not checking for conflicts first
To clarify, I have seen some download folders in which there are merged packages which are internally conflicting with itself. This is because they were merged without checking for (and resolving) conflicts first. So merged1.package would be conflicting with merged1.package. This is Very Bad
So when it comes to advising whether to merge multi-part mods or not, it comes down to "are there conflicts?" Not just within the mod itself but also with other mods. Some conflicts can be (partially) resolved with load order modification. When you merge, that load order resolving is going to break. Merging two conflicting mods together just like that, is a recipe for disaster.
So I'd say: get rid of conflicts before you merge. And if you can't get rid of conflicting packages, don't merge them.
Also, a reason to keep mods unmerged might be updates: some things are just more update-prone than others. Plus, when you introduce more (conflicting) mods, it can make it easier to figure out if you can make them play nice with each other or not.
So to answer that question: do the packages conflict? Either with themselves or other mods in your folder? If so, don't merge. Also, always keep backups of unmerged files. Nothing worse than having to scalpel a merged package for one or two BHAV's and a BCON and it's just not something the average user is going to do.
Tldr: don't merge mods if you have conflicts. Resolve those first, keep backups. Think about updates
PS: use HCDU+ to look for conflicts
Compressorizing mods
I just saw a post that mentioned you shouldn't compressorize your mods. "Because mods break when you compress them"
And honestly, as a modder, I must say: that's a myth. I do not know where it comes from, but srsly,
Compressorizing mods should not mess them up. It won't reduce file size by much, so the utility is limited. But it does NOT break them.
Most mods consist of fairly tiny resources: BHAV's, BCON's, sometimes #STR's. They're small to begin with and they can be safely compressed. In fact, the resources you find in mods are no different from resources found in furniture, or even EAxis' own files.
I repeat: there is nothing different about mods that makes them break when compressed! They're resources like any other.
Something that is important to note, is that you should recompress when you tune a mod. Or modify a package file in general. Do that and it'll all be fine.
Tldr: stop telling ppl to leave their mods uncompressed. Compressing won't break them
#modding#sims 2#ts2#s2#sims 2 modding#I personally only merge mods in the way of 'rewriting mod a so it incorporates mod b'#for objects i merge recolors but not meshes#bodyshop cc the same#i merge recolors but not meshes#meshes can be updated or optimized. recolors can share a package#srsly resolve conflicts before merging#to merge or not to merge is a more complex question than to compressorize or not to compressorize#merging conflicts will create issues which is why you should RESOLVE CONFLICTS FIRST

Hi Belladovah!! I'm here to say I love your mods!! Does your Hopeless Romantic stops multiple loves mod conflict with anything to your knowledge? It seems to have randomly stopped working in my game :(
Hello, thank you so much! That's lovely to hear! :) I'm sorry to hear its stopped working for you, that seems weird. I do know that it conflicts with DreadPirate's Aromantic Mod so if you have that mod loading after mine then it will stop it from working. I need to get round to making a patch. For conflict detection I'd recommend using the HCDU Plus

TS2 Essential Mods
These are my essential mods/programs for The Sims 2! You can find the rest of my mod list here. ʕ♡˙ᴥ˙♡ʔ
Mootilda’s Hood Checker ─ A necessary tool used to check for corruption in your neighborhoods.
Hack Conflict Detection Utility (HCDU) Plus ─ Another necessary tool that finds hack conflicts in your game. Updated to HCDU Plus by whoward because it is able to find many more conflicts. Also recommended: SiMidge.
SimPE ─ Number one essential tool/program that allows you to view package files, tune/create mods, edit ages/names/etc. download version 0.75.69.
Lazy Duchess’ RPC Launcher ─ A custom launcher with added features and fixes. Includes a Discord Rich Presence, First Born Syndrome Fix, Borderless, and Better Live Mode Camera. Can’t live without this!
What Caused This? ─ Reads the object error log file, extracts some information from it and then looks in every mod in your Downloads folder to see if it can identify the suspect mod(s).
Object Relocator ─ A utility for moving Buy Mode objects around in the catalog en-masse by changing their Room, Function, Sub-Function and Community flags, and also their Price.
Download Organizer ─ I find this incredibly helpful when I need to see my mods/cc organized by date downloaded.
Chris Hatch’s Lot Cleaner ─ Object in buy catalog that cleans a lot of sim references, and removes the Super Duper Hug Bug. Essential if you download/upload lots frequently. Recommended to remove from dl folder when finished as it will automatically clean a lot if you just click on it in the catalog.
Anti-Redundancy ─ Eliminates the spawning of redundant NPCs.
No Death Type Loss ─Sims no longer lose their death type upon moving their tombstone to a community lot. Also, ghosts will now be the correct color from the type of death.
No Corrupt Death ─ Suppresses the corrupt death memory.
No Unlink on Delete ─ Game stops partially destroying sims files when deleting a tombstone.
FFS Lot Debugger ─ Lots of very useful debug options. I use the pretty vase version. :)
No Sim Loaded ─ Eliminates “Sim Loaded” and other tokens when loading up a lot. Also prevents and fixes the Super Duper Hug Bug.
Gussy Up ─ Change, buy, and plan playable and townie Sims clothes.
Soft Shadows 2.0 ─ Turns the blobby outdoor shadows into soft ones, like in the family portrait and indoors. Great for screenshots. *Don’t use if you have dreadpirate’s mm lighting mod.
Simnopke's Sliders ─ 24 face sliders available in CAS, plastic surgery machine, and Bodyshop. The 20 face sliders are here!
Sim Blender ─ Holy Grail management mod. Allows for a host of different options. A serious must have! *updated Mar. 2021 with added 1-3-5 day aging.
Sim Manipulator ─ Similar to Sim Blender but with several more options. You can have one or both, I use them interchangeably.
No Townie Regen ─ Prevents the game from spawning new townies.
Day Setter ─ Sets the day of the week for the current lot. Necessary to keep hoods in sync.
Weather Controller ─ Sets the season and weather on the current lot.
Inge’s Age Group Tweak ─ Custom age length mod. Tutorial on how to tune age span: here. Recommended use with Age Correct.
Smart AgeCorrect ─ This mod corrects the age span length of a hood. Must use with custom lifespans in order to change entire hood’s age span. Remove from downloads after loading a lot and receiving the pop up that the mod worked. Updated to Lazy Duchess' version which does not require taking out the mod.
Auto Save Game ─ A pop up appears that asks if you’d like to save the game.
Lifetime Want Chooser & 50 New LTWs [Experimental] ─ self-explanatory.
Shiftable Everything [TEST] ─ Move any object using [ or ] like in The Sims 4. Still in testing.
