Luxury Praliné

This Luxury Praliné, thus called because it is made with no less than four different nuts, will gorgeously enhance everything it touches whether you swirl it into a cake batter, an ice cream, spread it on toasts or use to make chocolates... It will also make a lovely gift this Holiday Season...even if it's only to yourself! Happy Wednesday!

Ingredients (makes a jar):

1/4 cup hazelnuts

1/4 cup peanuts

1/4 cup almonds

1/4 cup pecan halves

3/4 cup demerara sugar

1/4 cup caster sugar

1/4 teaspoon fleur de sel or sea salt flakes

Line a small tray or plate with baking paper. Set aside.

In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, toast hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds and pecans until fragrant. Remove from the heat, and transfer to a plate. Set aside.

Wipe the pan with a paper towel, and return to the stove, over medium heat. Sprinkle demerara sugar evenly at the bottom of the pan, without stirring, until sugar starts melting. Sprinkle in caster sugar evenly, and allow to dissolve into a light brown caramel. Swirl the frying pan to help sugar dissolve.

Once completely dissolved and you have a nice, shiny caramel, reduce heat to medium-low and stir in sea salt flakes with a wooden spoon.

Finally, stir in toasted hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds and pecans, coating them generously in the caramel. Then, spoon onto prepared plate or tray, and spread out into an even layer with the wooden spoon. Let cool, 15 minutes.

Once cooled and hardened, break nutty brittle into pieces in a food processor. Pulse a few times, until brittle is finely ground; and then, process on high speed until mixture breaks down and comes together into a thick, then smooth paste or Praliné. This will take a few minutes, at least 10, for the nuts to release their oils and make the paste smooth and shiny. Scrape the sides of the food processor occasionally.

Spoon Luxury Praliné into clean glass jar, and keep at room temperature, a couple of months.

A hazlenut fell into Yennefer's lap. Her brow scrunched and she looked up at Jaskier inquisitively as he planted himself beside her at the table. He took a bite out of an apple and flicked another hazlenut into her lap.

Shaking her head at him, she picked one up but didn't eat it, simply rolling it between her fingers as she said, 'You do know these are for the rituals?'

She eyed him.

'As is that.'

He swallowed and shrugged. 'They are hardly going to miss a few, are they? Besides, do not tell me you actually believe in all that witchy-'

His gaze snapped to her amused expression. He gave a short, nervous laugh and nodded, as if agreeing with himself that he should stop talking lest he risk being on the end of a nasty Samhain curse.

Yennefer looked back out at the shadows casted all around them by the fire blazing away, embers carried away on a night breeze, masquerading themselves as stars in the sky. It's almost hypnotising.

'Oh, my - is that a smile I see?' Jaskier teased, leaning forward to better inspect her face in mock awe. 'No, it cannot possibly be!'

'Are you really incapable of being quiet for five minutes?' she retorted with a roll of her eyes. 'Even shovelling food down your throat isn't a sufficient distraction.'

'Well, that's just rude.' He slumped back against the table and took another chunk out of the apple. A moment of chewing later, he added: 'I could always sing instead.'

'Please, no.'

'Alright, fine, then.' He sat forward again, with a new determination as he planted a hand on his knee and gestured his apple around. 'But why exactly are you here if you're not going to have anything resembling fun?'

'Ciri wanted to come.' She turned to him, defensive. 'And how do you know I'm not having fun?'

He gave a dramatic groan only a perfomer could emit and rolled his eyes just as hard. 'Well, are you?'

She didn't answer that.

'Right. Come on.'

He stood up, and she frowned, but he simply held out a hand to her as if that explained everything. She didn't move.

'Do you have so little trust in me?' he asked, exasperated.

Her eyes flicked from his hand to his eyes, and she softened. She slipped her hand into his, already faintly thinking of ways to scare the shit out of him for whatever he was about to do.

'We,' he said, taking a step back, 'are going to dance.'

Resently, I really enjoyed playing The Remake of Mario vs DK, So here that I thought that I decided to be generous for @theshiningprincess and have Oswald the Lucky Rabbit giving her a Mini DK while Mickey got a Mini Mario.

My Headcanon Facts

1: In my Disney Headcanon, Mickey and Oswald are long time childhood friends to a different home before once reached adulthood when Mickey decided to travel to spread magic and joy to the world with new friends and a new world to make dimensional travels with magic. They still keep in contact with each other and sometimes visits one another.

2: In my Super Mario Rebirth Series Headcanon: If the Mini Mario and Friends Toy Company were the case, It could take place after Mario Sr/Jumpman and Cranky Kong finally went on good terms back at The Real Worlds New Donk City during Christmas. This would send the opportunity that Gill Koopa got an idea based on resent adventures of his friends and despite his old boss of the Koopa Empire. This would eventually lead to Gill Koopa inventions of the toys became a success and came the events of “Mini Mario and Friends Challenge arc” including Mara, Amatory, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Dixie Kong, WaPeach, Rara, Toadette along with Mario Sr and Cranky Kong, both younger and older. Gill would make more in the future. “Mario vs Donkey Kong Arc” would take place to but it would be Mara teams up with Esther and Lexie to defeat Scar Kong.

guise hazlenuts arent as bad as i thought they were!! Also; I just assumed that all nuts would make me itchy and shit because despite not actually being allergic solid nuts make me itchy but it DOESNT. i can eat the weird donuts that i get free from the seven eleven without issue!!

Not a fan of either. Coffee tends to taste burnt, and tea's whole deal of try not to gag on the hot bad tasting water to get a nice aftertaste is so not it. I'm a chai girl, with occasional hot chocolate

Correction! Something Sweet!

Hey! Np, I’ll just answer the original question using this ask.

So I don’t exactly have a set chapter length for Something Sweet. I have an outline, but it’s more of a guide of all the major events leading up to the end. All the little things needed to connect everything and get there is what I am struggling with atm. I’m simultaneously worried about getting overly detailed about mundane things yet fearing that I might rush to get the story done and then miss out on telling the story that I originally set to tell when I started the fic in 2022.

For a TL;DR

I don’t know exactly how many chapters it’ll take to get to the ending so it’s kind of a “we’ll get there when we get there” situation. Ideally, I’d like to finish the story this year because it’s been going on for so long mostly due to the long hiatuses (health issues, family crisis, creative block) but if it takes me longer than that, I just hope by that time that people will still be interested enough to stick by me and that there’s still a fandom for Alcina. It’s certainly not what it used to be, but I’m glad that there’s still a dedicated fanbase from those of us who have been here since 2021 and those who have joined later.

Either way, I appreciate your interest in the fic. It makes me feel good to know that people still care and haven’t forgotten about it even with the inconsistencies with updates. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get something out soon.
