31 Days of Dragon Age (Day 13)
Oct 013 - Introduce your Hawke i have a buncha hawkes that i'm fond of (and still no screenshots of them, thanks ps3), so i don't have a "main" hawke, but my main four are:
aelia hawke - mage with the force mage spec. - blue personality
aelia was my first playthrough hawke, which was kind of a new experience for me because i typically play a dual-wielding rogue on my first playthroughs, but i wanted to have carver around because he reminded me of my own brother, so i went with a mage. i'm glad i did, because aelia was frequently out of her element and Trying Her Best, while obviously being as pro-mage as she could be. she romanced anders, because of course she did, and ran away with him after fleeing kirkwall. had a friendship with everyone except for fenris, who actually turned on her at the end of the game for siding with the mages (a game feature i was really impressed by! love character agency!) carver joined the grey wardens on this playthrough, which was my favourite outcome for him, and his relationship with his sister is probably one of my favourite ones in the series. della hawke - archer rogue with the shadow spec- blue-turned-red personality
della was my attempt at making a wholesome, positive character, and then slowly showcasing how kirkwall just beats you down over the years. she started out kind and helpful, but by the end of the game she was aggressive and reactionary, pitting her against anders at the end. she ultimately sided with the mages, despite killing anders, solely because bethany was a part of the circle, and that's something that kind of kept her from becoming the worst version of herself in the end. that, and her beloved merrill, who was absolutely della's blindspot in pretty much every other regard. della didn't always agree with merrill, but she always acted out of the interest of protecting her, even if it resulted in disagreements.
judith hawke - two-handed warrior with the templar spec. - red personality
judith was my most Eldest Daughter of all the hawkes i made. she took her role as the twins' protector seriously, and never forgave herself for losing carver in lothering. this also put her directly at odds with leandra a lot of the time, too, so it was a lot of fun getting to roleplay that element with her. with this in mind, she actually got on well with gamlen eventually, and i like to imagine that she and her uncle developed a close relationship over the years, despite everything that's happened to their family. bethany was a circle mage on this playthrough as a well, and with playing judith as a devout andrastian who was trying to balance her faith with her love for her sister, i ended up rivalling bethany for the first and only time! it was weird! judith also ended up in a friendship romance with sebastian, which sort of added to that whole mess. ultimately, sided with the templars to maintain order and stayed with sebastian to help restore what was lost when anders did the thing (regardless of what varric's narration said lol)
beatrice hawke - DW rogue with the assassin spec. - purple personality
the purplest of purple hawkes, beatrice was playful and sarcastic, and has never met a quip that she didn't want on her tongue right away. she actively ran away from responsibility every chance she got, and it was only by sheer dumb luck that she happened to let anders tag along on the deep roads expedition, thus saving her sister's life. after losing bethany to the wardens, beatrice kind of smartened up a bit, and out of gratitude to anders, she started being more assertive in helping the mages of kirkwall. flirted with him at first, until he did the whole "i'll only hurt you in the end..." thing, upon which she backed off and the two ended up becoming really close friends instead.
something really fun happened with beatrice's actual romance stuff though: she initiated the romance with fenris, but after he left her following their first night together, she eventually moved onto isabela, expecting a casual fling would help her get over the sting of that rejection. she ended up liking isabela a lot more than she'd expected though, and very quickly, at that. however, the romance flags in the game got bugged, and fenris' was never turned off. so, following "all that remains", it was fenris who came to comfort her, which really allowed me to headcanon that he was able to shelve his own complicated feelings for her to be there for her when she needed someone the most. it was very sweet, but i didn't know which romance was actually "active" anymore. fastforward to act 3, and one of the first banters i got was merrill and fenris' "you're in love..." "no i'm not!" banter. thinking that it meant that fenris was the canon romance now, i went to talk to varric, only for him to talk to beatrice about isabela instead. and, indeed, as act 3 progressed, it was isabela's romance scenes that followed, and fenris' were the friendships ones.
except...i also triggered the banter between isabela and fenris, about them hooking up too! because the flags were a mess! so, naturally, i had no choice at all but to assume that they were in a poly relationship at that point, and that's the story i'm sticking with. Canon.
...anyways, beatrice also sided with the mages and sailed away with isabela (and fenris) after the fight at the gallows, despite sebastian offering to marry her at one point too. the flags! they were a mess! but it made for a really compelling story!

With Bea being your potential canon Inquisitor, how would your protagonists feel about each other?
keir and minerva don’t easily trust each other. he sees someone manipulative and dangerous who is always acting for her own agenda and doesn’t take proper care of her own people. she sees exactly the kind of big heavily armed human man throwing threats and physical violence around that all her life experiences have taught her wariness and dislike for. they’re both very accustomed to being the scariest thing in the room and have a tendency to get territorial. however, they have ferelden in common (whatever keir’s other thoughts, he will always owe respect to the saviour of his homeland) and someone they love in common (whatever minerva’s other thoughts, she will always owe a helping hand to the person anders cares about, and who kept anders safe when she couldn’t be there). once they get to know each other and have some picture of why the other acts like they do, it’s not all bad. probably. eventually
keir always looks at beatrice and sees someone else. he sees his beloved sister, as the sheltered young andrastian noblewoman she might have been. he sees the sebastian who was once his friend, both his earnest kindness and his inclination for fanaticism. and he sees grand cleric elthina, a woman whose unassuming appearance never changed the amount of power she wielded and what a profound danger she was. he is never sure which of these is closest to the truth and it creates a mixture of protective sympathy and real fear he finds a little sickening. for her side, she finds him somewhat intimidating on a basic interpersonal level. which he... kind of fundamentally is, lmao. arguably they’re both free marcher nobles but they’re from such drastically different worlds of experience all the same. she gets most of her information on him from the excitement and romance of hushed gossip or varric’s stories. the reality has more harsher extremes than she would like. but she wants to believe he’s a hero and that they’re on the same side
minerva harbours particular dislikes of sickly-sweet earnestness, “overly” pious andrastians, warden hero worship, and people who simply have power drop into their lap and then don’t even have any idea what to do with it. beatrice is precisely a combination of those things. she is... not likely to be minerva’s favourite person in the world. however, on minerva’s return from wherever she is, she would forced to admit through gritted teeth that bea is not only genuinely well-intentioned but straightforwardly a political ally. she is literally going to be the one who legitimises the mage rebellion and ushers in the end of the circle of magi. on those grounds, minerva will contain herself from whatever the political equivalent is of unhinging her jaw like a snake and eating the poor girl alive. she would kind of be visibly containing herself from doing that if they ever met and it would be a pretty unsettling experience for everyone involved. bea is at present blissfully unaware of all that and continues to think of minerva as a great warden hero and would hotly defend her against any heinous rumours of blood magic and involving herself in politics more than wardens should
(bea’s perspective needs the most work here because she’s newer. i’m also working with current bea, as in, early game dai bea the bright-eyed idealist who believes andraste has chosen her. she definitely believes in heroes—in a fun, weirdly meta, a little self-important way, she’s probably very aware of the idea of herself, minerva, and keir as the three “protagonists” of the dragon age so far. i think the bea we end up with by trespasser might have a very different take on the other two after she ends up with a very different take on herself, but i haven’t gotten there yet. i suspect that at great personal cost she may even develop a personality minerva would find bearable to be around 😭)

welcoming my rook, bea, to my dragon age oc club! along with some finalized timeskip designs for my older protags 🥳 can't wait to see how fast this becomes outdated once i get my hands on that character creator...
some more info about them all below!
saoirse mahariel: the hero of ferelden. a cocky spitfire with a heart of gold. yearns to see the world outside of her clan. uses bravado and humor to mask her insecurities and grief, but mellows out with age. romances alistair, puts anora on the throne, and survives the archdemon.
amara hawke: the champion of kirkwall. immensely family oriented. despite her diplomatic and kind nature, amara's life is one of nonstop tragedy. as time goes on, she loses her some of her patience... and filter. romances fenris. strives for peaceful outcomes but frequently fails. remains in the fade to ensure she cleans up at least one of her messes.
beatrice (bea) ingellvar: rook. a mage of the mourn watch. eccentric, friendly, and very talkative, bea is a bit of an oddity. she's very nonchalant about death... understandable as she works with dead bodies and uses necromancy. not afraid to get her hands dirty. odd sense of humor. what becomes of her story remains to be seen...
ruairi lavellan: the inquisitor. kind and amicable, it might be hard to believe ruairi is an efficient spy and assassin for his clan. he resents being dragged into the affairs of shems, but learns to care for everyone in thedas. strives for peace, but will resort to violence if the ends justify the means. romances dorian. ends the inquisition and vows to stop solas.

Public Domain Day 2024
Once again its the day we all wait for, public domain day. the day some thing get ripped out of the clasps of the claws of corporations. This year is notable for many things becoming public domain but specifically a certain mouse in the united states. Here's an example of some of the things but note that this is only a sampling of what's become public domain
In Europe and other life of author + 70 years areas:
The Wind Has Risen by Tatsuo Hori
The polish Koziołek Matołek comics by Kornel Makuszyński
Mr. Weston's Good Wine by T.F Powys
In New Zealand and other life of author + 50 years areas:
J.R.R Tolkien's work, but only the ones published during his lifetime. Things published by his son Christopher are not public domain
Margaret Wilson's The Able McLaughlins
The works of crime writer Lucy Beatrice Malleson (Anthony Gilbert)
In the US:
All things published in 1928
The big one of course, Steamboat Willie and the earliest incarnation of Mickey Mouse. Disney still owns trademarks so be careful and theres some things like his gloves that didnt appear until later and im sure the Mouse's lawyers are watching like hawks
The House at Pooh Corner, first appearance of Tigger
Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf
Theres much more. Take a peek over at Project Gutenberg or The Internet Archive

i honestly would love to see more of jamie with bea like him deciding to take her to see the team for the first time after she’s born because maybe him and reader wanted some time for themselves and get adjusted before having everyone meet her?
My whole family is out today and I have nothing to do, so I’m going to be answering some requests! And maybe opening up my inbox again
I’m a sucker for requests that ask for continuations of my other fics. Thanks for requesting!
lyrical smile, indigo eyes
How did you become lucky enough to have a baby like this with the absolute love of your life? You were pretty sure that you and Jamie had peaked at marriage, but Beatrice Georgie Tartt just takes the cake. You are exhausted because labor was intense, and Jamie swears if you gripped his hand any tighter you would have shattered it. But you didn’t, and you’re out of the hospital and back at home. Bea is a week and a half old, and there are only four people who have met her, outside of the hospital staff: Georgie, Simon, Roy, and Keeley. Jamie didn’t want you to be overwhelmed by a lot of visitors right after you had Bea, so he asked a favor from Ted, who promised to keep AFC Richmond so busy that they wouldn’t have time to drop in unannounced.
But now Jamie’s getting ready to go back to training, and he wants to take Bea with him before it starts.
“I can take her this Friday, Isaac’s been texting me all week and Coach said he’d end training early,” he says from his place on the living room floor, folding onesie after onesie.
You roll your eyes from the couch with Bea in your arms, half-asleep in the middle of her feeding.
“You sure you’re up to it, babe? She goes through diapers like crazy. You’re gonna have to bring a brand new pack if you even want to stand half a chance.”
Jamie just grins. “No problem babe, I’m a pro. Ain’t in the Premier League for nothing.”
“Alright,” you say, “I’m coming too, but only to go have girl time with Rebecca and Keeley. Becca says she has some like spa-day stuff for me. Apparently she did all the research into postpartum care.”
Jamie makes a hm, interesting face and Bea lets out a gurgle and wakes herself up.
—
You roll up to Nelson Road at 1pm, diaper bag packed with everything you could possibly need. This is your first time out of the house with Bea, and both you and Jamie are nervous. He’s trying to make you laugh with dumb jokes but your eyebrows are tightly knit together.
Bea is incredibly tiny, and the Richmond boys are… well, they’re not. You know they can be gentle, but you also know they are capable of getting overexcited way too easily. You nervously fiddle with the toy hanging from Bea’s carseat so Jamie looks at you in the rearview mirror and says, “Babe, relax, it’ll be fine, yeah? They don’t have to hold her or anything, and I’ll make sure she’s alright.”
That calms you down a little. You know Jamie means it. He’ll watch Bea like a hawk, and isn’t afraid to be a prick when it comes to taking care of the people he loves. You take a breath and nod as he pulls into a parking space.
—
The team is on the pitch, so you and Jamie walk out to meet Ted, Roy, and Beard. The boy see you walk up and immediately stop their drills, but Roy shouts “Oi! You lot still have got thirty fucking minutes! Keep fucking going!” So they go back to whatever the heck they’re doing.
Ted says, “Look at this cute little tartlet! Ain’t she just the sweetest thing?” and you can tell by Beard’s reaction that Ted’s been waiting to use that one for a while.
“I washed and sanitized my hands three minutes ago,” says Roy, “can I hold her?”
That is a little bit surprising. You would have assumed Ted would be the first one to ask, but you suppose he’s Phoebe’s favorite “Uncle Roy,” a reason, so you hand her over with a kiss on her forehead. You kiss Jamie and say, “Bye babe, I’m headed to see Keels and Becca,” then turn on your heel to Rebecca’s office. You’re headed inside when you throw one last glance at Bea, and almost burst out laughing; Jamie’s helping Roy put on the wrap so he can wear Bea while yelling at the team. You look out the window once you make it to the second floor of Nelson Road and see Roy coaching with Bea snugly secured to his chest and Jamie hovering close by. You’re glad today’s drills don’t seem to involve any footballs.
You tap on Rebecca’s door then push it open, and are immediately almost knocked over by Keeley, who has launched herself at you.
“HI BABE, HOW-FUCKING-ARE YOU?” she squeals, and you wonder if she’s so loud because she was containing herself when she met Bea. You grin and squeeze her back.
“I am so fucking tired and so fucking happy,” you reply. “Hi Bec!!”
Rebecca gets up off the couch and gives you a tight hug as best she can, because Keeley is still holding you.
“It is so wonderful to see you, darling,” she says, “I saw Roy has the baby out on the pitch. She’s going to be kicking a football before she knows how to walk properly.”
You laugh and Keeley says, “Oi, Roy’s got her? Good luck getting her back. If she’s anything like Phoebe she’ll throw a right fit when it’s time to go.”
“I know,” you sigh, “She’s going to have so many aunts and uncles, it’s insane. Not sure where Jaim and I are going to fall on her ranking of favorite people.”
Rebecca smiles and moves to the couch. “Would you like to sit and have some tea? I read there are certain types that help with breastfeeding.”
You grimace. “I would, except sitting is not exactly my favorite right now. But tea sounds wonderful.”
“You can lay down on your stomach, babe,” Keeley says helpfully. “Rebecca and can cuddle and catch you up on everything you’ve missed.”
You say, “That sounds fucking amazing,” and you’re asleep ten minutes into their chattering.
—
You startle awake to the sound of a knock on the door. Rebecca calls, “Come in,” and it takes you a moment to figure out where you are. There’s a blanket draped over you and Rebecca and Keeley are still on the other side of the couch, both furiously typing and scrolling on their laptops.
You rasp, “How long was I out?” as Roy pokes his head in the door. He’s still wearing Bea.
“Twenty minutes,” Rebecca answers. “Keeley and I thought it best to leave you be.” Keeley nods, not looking up from her screen.
Roy clears his throat. “Hi babe!” says Keeley. She half glances up from her screen then does a double take.
“Holy fuck, you look right sexy like that, Kent.”
Roy grins at her. “Don’t get any fucking ideas.”
Keeley says, “Too late. I have so many fucking ideas,” to which you and Rebecca share a disgusted face.
“That’s disgusting, Keeley,” you tease.
“Oi, you’re one to talk!” she returns and Rebecca nods as if to say, she’s got a point.
“Any-fucking-way,” Roy says, looking at you, “Figured you’d want to be downstairs when the boys meet Bea. They’re changing and getting clean so it’s going to take a fucking minute.”
You nod. “Hey Bec, you wanna hold her?”
Rebecca closes her laptop. “I would absolutely love to.”
Roy growls in a way that means fuck no, but Bea’s your baby so he unwraps her and gently hands her to Rebecca. Bea settles so sweetly into Rebecca’s arms that you swear you want to cry. Stupid hormones.
“Your prick husband is still downstairs bothering Sam and Dani,” Roy says, and you remember oh yeah, I have a prick husband. You get up off the couch.
“I should probably go see him,” you reply. “Becca, you want to come, or..?”
Rebecca is still gazing at Bea, but she nods and stands up, heels discarded on the floor.
You make your way to the locker room to find Jamie surrounded by the team, scrolling through something on his phone.
“…And this is her wearing her Tartt onesie. Here she is with me mum, and this one…” he trails off when he sees you.
“Hi love!” he says, “Just showing the lads the pictures I got of Bea.”
There’s something about Jamie standing in the middle of the locker room crowded by his team that just makes your heart feel like it’s going to explode. You laugh and bound over to him, throwing your arms around his neck.
“You’re such a dad, Jamie Tartt,” you tell him affectionately, to which he replies, “Learned from the best, didn’t I?” with a glance at Ted.
“Alright,” you say, arms off of Jamie’s neck but now entwined around his left bicep, “who wants to meet Bea officially?”
Hands go up around the room and to your surprise, they’re all quiet. In scary unison, they move to sit on the benches and hold their hands up, palms facing outward.
“What the fuck is happening?” you whisper to Beard.
“Ted had a baby-etiquette debrief,” he whispers back. “Inside voices, clean hands, neck support, the whole deal. Had me make a slideshow to back him up.”
Rebecca shakes her head in disbelief as you all watch Isaac make his way around the room, inspecting hands and pronouncing them clean.
Rebecca does not look like she wants to give up Bea, but you tell her you’ll invite her over in a few days, as long as she doesn’t mind a messy house and takeout. She reluctantly hands Bea to Dani, who is beaming so hard you’re worried for his face muscles.
Jamie, meanwhile, rests his head on yours.
He leans down and whispers, “Hey babe?”
“Hm?” you respond.
“I’m going to fall asleep standing up. D’you think Bea would be fine if we crashed in Ted’s office?”
You grin. You think Bea would be fine anywhere there’s a member of AFC Richmond.

Hi Dren!! I hope you're doing well :)
For the prompt ask, 20. “It’s late, you should get some sleep.”
When Beatrice wakes up, the battered digital alarm clock Ava bought them second-hand reports it’s 3am. The nest of blankets next to her is warm, but empty.
Her most recent dream has left a bad taste in her mouth. Her heart in the back of her throat. Adriel swooping in to take Ava away. Beatrice finding her, too late. The Halo — gone. And Ava — dead.
That’s what has her reaching for the knife she keeps sheatherd under her pillow. What causes her to slide from underneath the covers without making a sound. If Beatrice was being logical about it, she’d admit to being overly cautious. After all, Ava may have gotten up to use the bathroom. But there’s no logic to the fear raking cold claws down her spine, and the dream — the plausibility of it — is still too vivid in her mind.
She can’t discount it.
So, she stalks through the small apartment, takes advantage of all shadows. Shannon taught her how, during her first weeks at Cat’s Cradle. One of the basic lessons, delivered in the dead of night to a class of sleepy girls ripped out of their beds. Beatrice could never forget it. Stood to attention in the moonlit nave of the cathedral, toes curled inward, the soles of her bare feet numbed by the coldness of the marble as Shannon’s voice, a gentle whisper, floated to them from the dark.
She’d explained how to walk in complete silence, talked about the soft trigonometry of shadows. Said that every surface — no matter rain, or shine or starlight — reflects a measurable quantity of light. What materials are used to bend and to absorb it, which pattern and style of clothing is best suited to a mission after dusk.
The theory of it hadn’t seemed hard. The practice — to cross the whole length of the cathedral undetected while senior sisters watched her from above like hawks — was nowhere close to easy.
At the kitchen’s threshold, finally, a sound.
Beatrice folds her body low, crouches in the rectangle of night projected by the dresser. Extends her hand past its wooden corner, blade tilted just so. Mirrored on the edge of sharp damascus steel, the kitchen looks far away and kind of distorted, but the image is clear enough. The window has been thrown wide open to let sweet summer in, and Ava occupies a chair in front of it, her back to the door.
“Ava, what are you doing? It’s late.” Setting the knife on top of the dresser, Beatrice stands. She deliberately steps on the one floorboard that creaks, hoping Ava won’t startle. “You should get some sleep.”
°I tried.” Ava doesn’t turn. “Couldn’t fall asleep and I didn’t want to bother you. Guess I failed, uh?”
“You didn’t. I just woke up and I—” I thought I lost you. I thought he’d found us. I was afraid you were gone. Beatrice breathes in. Pushes the words down. “I needed the toilet.”
“Ah.”
“Yeah.”
“Are you, uh, are you coming back to bed?”
A breeze works its way into the kitchen, scattering the maps of the area Beatrice had been studying before sleep. While not exactly cold, the wind carries a hint of a bite on its back. It makes her shiver.
“Not yet.” Ava nods to the square of night framed by the window. “I’ve never seen a sky like this, you know? Had no idea there were so many stars.”
The note of wonder in her voice draws Beatrice closer. She thinks, for no more than a moment, to the bed, now surely chillier than she’d left it. She could go back to it, she’s tired enough to and morning isn’t far, but the truth is she’s too used to Ava’s body next to hers, to the even breathing in her ear to fall asleep alone. Too fond of Ava’s arms, and the way they sometimes tighten around Bea’s waist in her sleep, like Ava, too, might be afraid of losing her.
Dragging an empty chair next to Ava’s, she sits down, not quite in Ava’s space, their shoulders almost touching.
Outside the moon is low, so close to the shadowy outlines of the surrounding rooftops Beatrice swears she could simply reach up and touch it. At the end of its waning phase, it is barely a silver thread stitched into the velvet of the night, and the stars shine brighter from its absence.
Stars. Hundreds, thousands of them. Beatrice hasn’t seen this many in years. Despite Cat’s Cradle vantage point on the hills of Antequera, light pollution from the city muddles the sky a hazy orange, making it much too bright. Only on particularly clear nights does the full spread of the stars appear, and it’s never quite like this. Not this vibrant, or this endless, the void between each pinprick of pulsing light so dark, dark, dark.
“Do you think that’s where we go when we die?” Ava asks, hushed, causing Beatrice’s shoulders to jump. “I saw it on TV somewhere that the light of the stars is millions of years old by the time it reaches us. Some of the stars we are seeing tonight don’t actually exist anymore. But… what if it were souls, instead? Wouldn’t that be better? Maybe my mom —” Ava’s voice breaks over the word, and Beatrice dares not make a sound. Ava rarely talks about her mother. “I mean, maybe it’s people watching over us, and if souls eventually die, too, then it doesn’t matter, does it? Because they leave their light behind for us.”
Ava’s words, the idea of her dying start an ache somewhere deep in Beatrice’s chest. A pain that grows and grows, until her heart feels too heavy to keep beating against the weight of the sorrow that’s threatening to crush it, until all Beatrice can do is to hold back tears.
Her mind lingers on the brevity of life, on how that life may look sans Ava. An empty house, an emptier bed, nothingness for sky no matter the number of stars dotting it each night.
“Ava…” Ava’s gaze is still upturned, enraptured by the spectacle outside. Beatrice is glad for the respite. At least, the tears tracking down her cheeks will have a chance to dry.
“I know,” Ava rocks the chair back with a laugh that sounds a little wet. “Pretty heretical, right? I’m sure that’s what Mother Superion would say, anyway.”
“I think it’s beautiful, what you said, actually.”
“You do?” Ava half-turns, and in the uncertain glow of starlight she is beautiful, too.
“Yeah. Um.” Beatrice clears her throat; the lump constricting it gradually softens. “People have imbued the stars with meaning since, well, since the beginning of mankind, I guess. It’s a comfort.”
“It would comfort me to leave a light on for you, after I’m gone.” The chair falls back in place with a thump. Ava pitches sideways, not shoulder to shoulder with Beatrice anymore, but nearly spilling in her lap. Beatrice’s arms automatically tighten around her.
“You shouldn’t talk like that. You’re not going to die, Ava.”
“Don’t make promises you know you can’t keep, Sister.” Ava pokes at her arm lightly, as if she knows Beatrice had been about to promise that, exactly. “You’re a nun. Nuns shouldn’t lie.”
“I don’t want you to die,” Beatrice admits aloud for the first time. It shocks her how easy the words come out, but perhaps it’s the fault of the dark and the quiet and an infinite sky full of stars. Nighttime makes everything more intimate, more sacred; this is the hour in which secrets that wouldn’t survive the harsh scrutiny of day can be set loose.
Beatrice almost slips Almost gives tangible form to the three words that have been brewing under her tongue. Seriously considers what might happen if she did. Would it be so bad for Ava to go into this war, knowing that she’s loved? Would it make things better? Worse?
She bites the inside of her cheek and tastes blood.
“I don’t want you to die, Ava.” She says instead. A wish, a hope, a plea to any god that might be listening and not only to her own. “And that’s the truth. Nun’s honor.”
“Good.” Ava snuggles in, face slanting into the crook of Beatrice’s neck. Her nose is icy cold. “Because as much as I don’t mind shining down to you from the sky one day, I like it better here.”
Beatrice rests her chin on the crown of Ava’s head, buries her nose in her hair. She can smell a faint trace of the cheap shampoo they share, and summer, the heat. The stars above them pale, then wink out one by one. Beatrice is glad to see the last one gone.
She likes Ava on this Earth, sleeping soundly in her arms better, too.

best female villain tournament!
SEASON 2
RULES:
- Only submit the same character once
- Multiple submissions with different characters are fine!
- Matchups will be posted as soon as I have enough submissions and will include the most submitted characters
-Resubmissions are fine as long as they weren’t on the tourney last time
- Please be as detailed as possible
I had issues on my end with some technicalities and media’s. eg a lot of characters from the hatchetfield musicals by team starkid were just submitted as hatchetfield which made it harder to search for them to identify them and get pictures etc. If those and similar fandoms could be submitted with what musical etc they’re from that would be great :)
Those who sent submissions through my askbox will be getting submitted by me unless it was off anon(because you’ll be getting a notification)

I started working on a new thing.
a sailor and a nightingale - ch. 1
“Governor Swann seems preoccupied tonight, wouldn’t you say?” Beckett’s tone was light, almost conversational. “No doubt his thoughts wander to matters of family. A father’s concern can be such a burden... when one’s only child is missing.”
Why did it feel like the temperature had dropped a couple of degrees all of a sudden? James could feel the calculating gaze upon him, watching him like a hawk, ready to pounce at any sign of weakness. His skin itched under the weight of his uniform. He resisted the urge to down the remainder of his wine in one gulp. Instead, he kept perfectly still and raised his chin just a bit.
Beckett continued, “It must be troubling, not knowing where she is... or what trouble she might be finding herself in. Perhaps you could ease his fatherly concerns?”
There it was again, that feeling like ice crawling up his spine. It was almost as if Beckett had read his thoughts. So it hadn’t been a coincidence that James had never found the chance to speak to Swann in private so far. Beckett wanted to witness how he would act in this situation – what he would say, what he would do. If he slipped up in front of his old friend.
***
James Norrington x OFC, fake dating (-courting lol), crack treated seriously, drama, angst
Summary: When James Norrington returns to Port Royal and gets promoted by Lord Beckett, he faces a stark ultimatum – any sign of misplaced loyalties, and he’s out. The natural thing to do in this position is pretending to court someone to keep Beckett convinced he’s in Port Royal to stay. At least, that’s what Beatrice Nightingale, an aspiring composer stifled by the rigid social norms, suggests. And who would be a more suitable candidate than Beatrice herself? Their ruse might not only benefit James in maintaining his post, but also help Beatrice with her own reasons for playing the game. Problem is, James and Bee aren’t the only ones with secrets – and sometimes, things aren’t as they seem.
Or: The author thought it a great idea to combine the fake dating trope and her very own PotC-version of a Hellfire Club. It’s a lot, I know.
#james is a pathetic wet cat of a man#james norrington x oc#james norrington#james norrington fanfiction#maybe i should have added ‘papa swann needs a hug’ as a tag#i just love writing beckett so much#potc#pirates of the caribbean

Movies you should watch °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
non-spoilery reccomendations, actors bolded, three movies incoming :>
Dead poets society (1989)
dark academia, coming of age, how I wish I was born a boy
Who is surprised that I'm mentioning this movie first? Not people who have seen my account. Especially if you watch House and like Wilson, Neil Perry (Robert Sean Leonard) is the main character and trust, you will fall in love with him and all of his friends. Who doesn't want to see Todd Anderson (Ethan Hawke), the new student, come out of his shell thanks to the new friends he found? And see young minds stir thanks to the new english teacher John Keating (Robin Williams)? There are many scenes which will make you laugh, cry, and scream.
My personal rating: 5/5⭐, all time favourite in my household
────୨ৎ────
Much ado about nothing (1993)
Shakespeare drama, romance, period piece
The two literary teachers I had in my life didn't agree on much, but one thing was certain, "You can read dramas, but it's always better to watch it." This, in my opinion, is the most important aspect if you want to enjoy any act. This play in particular is one of Shakespeare's comedy, centering around two couples, Benedick (Kenneth Baragh) and Beatrice (Emma Thompson), bickering, arguing, and on the other hand Claudio (Robert Sean Leonard) and Hero (Kate Beckinsale). But the stacked cast doesn't end there! There's also the prince, Don Pedro (Denzel Washington) and Don John (Keanu Reeves). Watch to see if Benedick and Beatrice ever stop arguing, if Claudio and Hero do end together, and how much can the angry Don John cause just to find revenge.
My personal rating: 5/5⭐
────୨ৎ────
Brokeback Mountain (2005)
neo-western, romance, lgbt+
It wouldn't be possible for me to do a movie reccomendation list without Brokeback mountain. The best way to watch movies is to know nothing about them, and this is true with this movie also. The monologue (you will know which one I mean), is never escaping my soul. The beautiful scenery, the main duo Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), the women caught in it Alma (Michelle Williams) and Lureen (Anne Hathaway) and whatever happened on the mountain. While Much ado about nothing can be watched with any of your friends, I'd say this is a movie to watch alone or with someone you know you trust.
My personal rating: 5/5⭐ (Rewatched too many times)

Tbh I hate a lot of Furry designs that are just. People. Just people with like, a tail and ears, maybe whiskers if their a cat. And then they try to pass that off as a Furry character. Like, no the hell that isn't, that's Beatrice from the department over when she breaks out the cat ears and tail for the Halloween party next week. And I don't mean like, anime catgirls, nobody considers that Furry, I mean people who make people and call them furries
- Sincerely, a very irate Hawk Wasp
