Oct 01 - Introduce your Hero of Ferelden
I'm definitely not going to be able to do all of these prompts, but I'm on the hype train so I wanted to do the ones I could.
This is my main Warden, Seonag Tabris. She was born in Starkhaven, but she was shuffled around different alienages before being adopted by the Tabris family when she was 13. She doesn't know when her cold edgy exterior ends and her actual social anxiety and poor self image begins. Doesn't like being a Grey Warden, but she hasn't needed to take her hrt since drinking the darkspawn blood, so she appreciates that.
Used to be a big Limp Bizkit fan, but started to drift away when Wes Borland left. "The guitar is where they got most of their edge and texture," she says to the Landsmeet, but the people did not care. She's more into black and death metal now, so it doesn't bother her anymore. "Where is the Hero of Ferelden?" She was in Derbyshire for Bloodstock 2024 so maybe check back next year idk. She's also 6'0 (if you care about that kind of thing).

31 Days of DA - Introduce your Hero of Ferelden
Meet Anelle Brosca
She's a dwarf commoner rogue who romanced Alistair. After the events of DA:O, they roamed Felerden together as Grey Wardens, until events forces them apart
Anelle chose to support Bhalen in Orzammar, not because she necessarily agreed with his politics, but because that would ensure her sister's safety. Anelle's nephew is one of the most important people in her life (who is 22 at the time of the next game!)
Her favorite drink in the world? Just a glass of clean, clear water. Growing up, everything in Dust Town tasted of lyrium (because lyrium dust gets into everything, hence the name). Her mabari's name is Parta, which is the dwarven word for 'peace.' She secretly loves it when Alistair rests his arm on her head, but tells him she's annoyed by it
Since the end of the 5th Blight, Anelle has been on a one-dwarven woman campaign to get Alistair to grow a proper beard. For whatever reason, he refused, until they were reunited after the events of Inquisition

Oct 22 - Favourite Inquisition romance
Dorian Pavus, of course. Dashing, witty, intelligent wizard? A stylish necromancer? A romantic who wants to make the world and his country a better place? I had no chance not to fall for him, none at all.
You are stranded in time, alone, in a hostile place where everyone wants you dead – and here comes this mage and says "Don't worry, I will protect you". And that he does. He saves you, he saves the world by transporting you both back in time.
Dorian is stubborn and proud, he is utterly unable of saying what he actually feels. But in all his personal quests we learn he does feel, very deeply. "We have no reserve, not in war and not in love," he says about all Tevinters, but actually he talks about himself. Dorian cares about the Inquisition, about Inquisitor (whether romanced or not), about his country.
There is a touching moment in the Hissing Wastes, if you take him with you. When you approach abandoned slaves the first time, Inquisitor speaks when you help them, Dorian is silent. But the second time it is Dorian who speaks to the slaves, tells them not to worry and go to the Inquisition. He learns the lessons he would never learn in Tevinter, and he changes his views on things he accepted as natural.
Dorian joins the Inquisition not for money, not with ulterior motives, not because he has nowhere else to go – Dorian is with you for the cause. To destroy Corypheus, to protect the world. While confronting his father he says that joining the Inquisition was "the right thing to do".
Dorian has agency, if he believes in something he doesn't waver. He goes back home to sort the mess that is Tevinter Imperium no matter what. And that didn't break my Inquisitor's heart. It just made him love Dorian more.

Oct 22 - 22nd day of Dragon Age
Favorite Inquisition romance
Anyone who has even glanced at my blog should know what it coming. It is Solas, hands down and by far.
I remember waiting for DAI to come out, browsing the Bioware Forums which had dedicated threads to all the companion and everyone was like "oh yeah, Solas seems interesting. A normal apostate, I wonder how he's managed to keep away from the circles all that time?". Ofc people guessed that something was up but once people started playing the game and found out the truth? It was a very special feeling, realizing just how wide the scope was.
During my first playthrough, I went through all the 5 stages of grief after the breakup. I was certain I did something wrong, that I could fix it, that he wouldn't leave. And I think that is why he's the favourite romance for me. Because I couldn't fix anything. I couldn't do better. He had his own goal and agenda, and Lavellan couldn't be part of it in his eyes. Love means letting go sometimes, and for Solas there was no greater gift he could give her than freedom.
It's been 10 years, I'm still in solavellan hell, I am so scared of what will happen to them but I'm also so excited to be able to make new HC's, AU's and theories about them! I hope they get to hold hands, that's about as far as I can dare to dream right now.

31 Days of Dragon Age
Oct 02 - Favorite Origins romance
Zevran Aranai
What can I say beyond, "he's my favorite."
I think a lot of people hypersexualize him, or rather, misinterpret his trauma coping mechanism, but he's just as respectful of your warden's wishes & consent as any of the other potential romances, loyal beyond the end... and I love him.

31 Days of Dragon Age
Doing this posting thing until the DAV release (prompt list here) because it's fun and I like attention.
Oct 03: Favorite Origins companion
I mean, I was gonna prevaricate and be like "no I love them all for different reasons" and then the little gay girl that lives inside my heart ripped through the walls and was like "MORRIGAN IT'S MORRIGAN WE LOVE MORRIGAN THE MOST".
How could you not? She's a cunt. She's got magic. She cares but only if you show her that you care first because it's safer that way. She was abused by an elven goddess. She's willing to have a baby to save your life. She loves that baby more than the power he could have been used for. She wears a bikini in the swamp. She knows how to roast Alistair with love AND with vitriol. She can turn into a dragon later. Like, vibes, girl. Go off.
I do love all the characters for what they bring to the table, but DAO without Morrigan would have been a much less engaging game, so I gotta give it to my queen witch.

31 Days of Dragon Age (Day 15)
Oct 15 - Favorite DA2 companion
he's a shithead little brother, but he's my shithead little brother!!
carver's been my favourite character pretty much since my first playthrough because he's always felt like the most realistic character to me, and he also shows some of the best character development in the game, if given the chance. his disposition towards rivalry with hawke screams insecure younger sibling, and his resentment is understandable in a lot of ways!
his older sibling was the one that people expected to take care of the family, especially where protecting bethany was concerned, but he was her twin! he can do things to help out too! and then, under his sibling's watch, bethany dies. it's not their fault, and it's not his, but it feels like both. he's lost his other half, who had been there with him since before birth, and there's no one who understands that. his family's had to leave everything behind and start over somewhere they didn't even want to be, and, all over again, carver has to follow in his older sibling's shadow, unsure of where he belongs. if anywhere.
of course he's in a sour mood during act 1! of course he wants to strike out and find his own place in the world! of course he's going to want to go on the expedition with his sibling, and of course he'll throw his lot in with the templars if he's denied that and left behind! there isn't a single step of carver's path that isn't sympathetic, in my eyes. even as a templar, he protects his mage sibling's secret, and grows rapidly disillusioned with the order as things progress, to the point where he defects. he's bitter and has a lot of resentment for hawke, but he loves them enough to stand against the knight commander, when put to the test.
but i think that the grey warden path for carver is where he really shines. there's something bittersweet about it, knowing that he really thrives in an order built upon fraternity, when he struggled so much with connecting with his sibling before. but he feels like he's really making a difference, and his confidence in himself grows so beautifully over the course of the game that by the time he rejoins the party he's practically a new person. hawke casts a long shadow, but warden carver fully steps out of it. some of my favourite moments in the game are with him in the legacy dlc, where both siblings get to realize how they carry a piece of malcolm's legacy with them.
even if you don't take that path, and ultimately carver perishes in the deep roads, his last moments with his older sibling are filled with love, not resentment or bitterness, making it clear that, beneath it all, he trusts and appreciates his sibling for how much they've done for him after all:
"you always did ask for the world, carver." "and you always gave it."
being the champion of kirkwall is heavy business, but being their mundane younger sibling is a different burden altogether. watching carver work his way through that and become his own man is literally one of the things that make this game so special to me. love that baby brother 🥹

Oct 13 - Introduce your Hawke
He's not the Hawke from my main worldstate, but he is my favorite Hawke.
I'm just going to paste the random facts from a recent ramble I made about him lol
He’s one of my Hawkes, but his name is actually Hwang Seung-gi. Thank you Bioware for giving the da2 protagonist a surname with one syllable. Made it easier for me to aim my Koreanizing beam at it.
I still like the idea that if people do call him “Hawke,” it’s because they’re mispronouncing his name. Also they don’t get that it’s his family name but it goes before his given name.
His father was big on teaching him and his sister to conceal their magic. So instead of using traditional staves, they would use enchanted everyday items which could be easily concealed.
Seung-gi uses a hand fan (non-folding). After he got into blood magic, he modified it so there’s a blade along the edge of the fan. The blood seeps through the paper to the rune he has tied to the knot tied to the handle, further enhancing it and making it about as powerful as an average staff.
Speaking of blood magic, Seung-gi started when he was living in Lothering. He uses the excuse that his family’s crops were failing, but that was only part of it. Really he was curious about the power and he was certain he could handle any drawbacks.
Unfortunately he couldn’t, but Seung-gi’s father realized what was happening before the demon could possess him. He offered himself up to the demon instead, and had Seung-gi strike him down in his place.
No one else in the family knows how his father died. Seung-gi is carrying that to his grave, and it informed a lot of his drive to protect his family (aside from general eldest child syndrome)
Anyway, he’s goth, he’s Korean, he’s in love with Gascard DuPuis, and he sounds like Nick Cave. That’s all I got for you.

31 Days of DA - Introduce your Inquisitor
The one, the only, Bethroot Cadash
She has a ridiculous name and she knows it. Her mother thought she was giving her daughter a human name like Violet or Daisy. Instead, she was Bethroot
When Bethroot was 18 years old, she and her boyfriend, Lantos made a lyrium deal with some Templars and tried to keep the Dasher out of it. He found out anyway. Bethroot was beaten and tied to a chair. When Lantos was given the option of keeping the money and staying in the Dasher's good will by giving Bethroot a Glasgow smile, he did so immediately Thankfully, the Dasher only required half the smile before forgiving them both
For the next six years, Bethroot mainly worked on lyrium deals in Orzammar, becoming quite friendly with some of the nobles there. (She had a brief fling with King Bhalen before the Conclave)
Then she was sent to the Conclave and her life changed forever. Given the chance not to be a criminal for the first time in her life, she grabbed onto it with both hands. She tried to do as much good as possible, throughout Ferelden and Orlais
And then she fell in love with Blackwall. She thought they would only have a few years together because of the Calling, so she didn't truly mind the revelation of his past. After all, if she's able to reinvent herself as the Inquisitor, why shouldn't Blackwall?
After Trespasser, Bethroot and Thom Rainier traveled around all of known Thedas. While visiting Orzammar, they met a middle-aged cook named Edda in prison for stealing (she was giving food away to the the casteless). That brief encounter quite possibly changed the world
At the time of VG, Bethroot is 36 years old and she and Blackwall have a three-year-old daughter named Anise. Carrying a half-dwarf was very hard on Bethroot, so they know Anise will be an only child
After that? We'll have to wait and see!
