11x01 Reaction Post
Random thoughts on and reactions to 11x01; no careful analysis or anything, just the bits and pieces that's not likely to make it into meta proper but which I still want to make note of so I can go back later and remember what my initial reaction to the episode was (since my impressions are likely to change as the season unfolds). Mostly Gallavich related, because duh, but there's disordered rambling on a bit of everything. Under a cut (God I miss LJ sometimes) because this got long.
Ian looks damned good as the homocidal muscle. I don't do AU:s, but if I did... On the other hand, Frank as a member of the Chicago “Eight” looks like a werewolf. Less interested in that AU. And listen, I get that they couldn't get Emmy Rossum for this, but I really miss Fiona showing up in a few random olden day pictures. She's gone, but she's still a Gallagher dammit! Carl at the slaughter house looked weird – and part of me thought that was appropriate because slightly off editing would be a sweet way of communicating that it's all bollocks, but the rest of shots looked okay (Debbie as a milk maid and Frank as the aforementioned werewolf) or good (everything else) so no.
The sound of a baby crying is a horror matched only by persistent lack of sleep so I feel for Lip and Tami so much. Here's to all parents who managed to get through the first year without murdering anybody! I think that maybe you don't get enough credit... I, for instance, want to kill someone just hearing Freddie cry in the background for half a minute. Not sure it bodes too well for their relationship for them to be so ready to spend every night apart like Lip suggests, but a, what wouldn't you do for a good night's sleep, and b, love the thought of Lip spending more time at the old house. Could see them breaking up during the course of the season, though. Not sure how I feel about that – Tami's my favourite out of Lip's love interests, but having too many of the couples staying together all through the finale wouldn't feel quite right (for Shameless) and I don't see them breaking up Ian and Mickey or Kev and V. Don't really expect Sandy or Debbie to last either, but since it's more of a casual thing it might have more of a casual end.
Do you remember when the promo dropped and there was Concern about That Look on Ian's face after he kisses Mickey, and I tag theorized about it being because Mickey stole his coffee? Turns out there wasn't really A Look in the actual episode, but I sure as hell was right about the coffee, and I want noted somewhere. Maybe there should also be a small diploma? A golden statue seems a little over the top, but I mean, if you insist...
I appreciate that Ian is very adament about it being their money but when Mickey thinks it's their breakfast it's suddenly every man for himself. Do you share or not, Ian? Hmm? (Let the record show that I'm joking, please. Ian is damned right to take his toast back, and I say this as a “person most likely to steal their partner's toast right out of their hand”. I also love that Mickey completely gives up on breakfast when he can't have Ian's toast and just grabs a beer instead.) The kitchen scene is glorious and I just really like their dynamic here; the casual kiss, “I only make breakfast for husbands who have jobs”, how relaxed it is even when Ian's a bit annoyed, Mickey being so... Mickey. I do wonder what went through his head when Ian started talking about their wedding present money, though – he seems worried for a moment, but then shrugs it off, and that could be either bravado or just actual lack of concern. I tend mostly towards the latter, since Mickey quite genuinely figures this isn't a big deal (even though he still recognizes that Ian will probably think it one). Please note that he immediately offers to get money when Ian mentions that they need more of it coming in. Not his fault Ian vetoes his methods, right? (Also love that Ian's objection is due to him not wanting to be separated from Mickey, rather than any moral qualms about robbing stores.)
Okay, the gag ball. Would they really keep it like that if they were actually using it? Maybe either of them just tossed it there after taking it off, I suppose... Yeah, I don't know. Not what I'd imagined them being into, but that might be my own extreme lack of enthusiasm for gag balls and harnesses talking. Either they're into it and if so, you do you, boys, or it was a gift and they're keeping it around and semi-prominently on display for shits and giggles. (But if it was a gift, they did try it at least once, right?)
Mickey in the bath remains stupidly and surprisingly gorgerous. Incidentally, I really don't think his question about the meds is any indication of him not thinking them important, but there's little wonder that Ian bristles at the mention of them. Maybe not be an ass just to prove a point, eh, Mick?
I've already talked about how hard Ian is trying here but let's just take another moment to congratulate our boy on his persistent attempts at mature communication. Though he might have given some actual consideration to Mickey not wanting to save the money if he's really serious about them making decisions together... But he gets there! I think this whole situation – which would royally piss most people, including me, off – is actually particularly difficult for Ian, because he might well see Mickey's behavior as uncomfortably reminiscent of Frank and Monica's destructive habits and yeah, that would fuck him up. And still! He forces himself to calm down! He takes Mickey's hand! He refuses to let himself be distracted by Mickey looking SO INSANELY PRETTY I CANNOT EVEN UNDERSTAND IT! Ian, I salute you!
[starwars_eu_nerd_mode]KORRIBAN! YES! HA! TAKE THAT DISNEY! You take your new so-called “canon” and your “Moraband” and you fuck right off. I salute you, Bitcoin Boy![/starwars_eu_nerd_mode]
Ah, the porch scene... This one I do have a bunch of thoughs on that will probably make it into meta proper one day, so I'll leave it for now. It was the one that took the most thinking about for me to square (still not a lot, it should be noted), but now I'm actually very happy about it. (Full disclosure: none of their scenes feel quite right the first time I see them these days, because I'm just so very on edge about what's to come that I kind of miss the forest for all the trees you know? It's not a Shameless thing – it's always like this when I'm extremely invested in something and have waited for it for some time. Will it fit with how I see the characters? Will it be cringey? Will Mickey suddenly profess a love for hideous Hawaii shirts? Also, what are they saying because English is hard... But then I watch them a couple of times and they sink in and I start to get giddy over them. I guess watching actual canon unfold always requires a little bit of re-calibration if you've been busy fanoning while waiting for it to arrive, and while I love that sort of interpretative work, there’s also the fear that the show will veer off into a direction I cannot easily follow.)
Mickey's insistence that he spelled monogamy wrong does genuinely amuse me. Not to mention the whole “No more parking tickets for me!” - “You don't have a car, dumbass.” Also, Mickey being friendly with Carl kills me, in a good way. Family FTW!
Frank's storyline fails to stir even the vaguest hint of interest in me, as per usual. For all his talk of family in this episode, the lack of interaction with any of his kids is striking. If he's to have any value at all this season I'll need him to get involved in the rest of the Gallagher's storylines (which seems like it might be happening at least for a bit later on, so I'm vaguely hopeful?). I find but faint intrigue in Carl's and Debbie's stuff, but it doesn’t annoy me either so I'll call it a win. Kev and V are (almost) always a delight, but do anyone else feel like their kids are only props, even to them? I don't know... I just don't think there's a connection or sense of realness to their relationship, you know? Maybe it's just me... Anyway, here's to hoping V turning pageant mom changes all that! Oh, and I'll need Liam to have some more screentime and stuff to do.
The Tommy and Kermit thing was weird. Eh. Whatever.
Sandy is so gorgerous. I can't. The Milkoviches really be bringing it this episode.
This is only the second season I've watched episode by episode as it airs (other one was S6) and it's a curiuos experience. I think that by and large, and particularly in later seasons, Shameless works better when you binge it, but I love the delightful anticipation of waiting for a new episode and the feverent discussion that follows. Sometimes I also despair over the ferverent discussion that follows, but... you know. It is what it is. Admittedly, any attempts at meta this early in the season is a precarious venture at best, since we don't have the whole story, and it might be wiser to abstain but it's just so much fun, so I'm not very likely to stop.
All in all, I love the Gallavich stuff, am intrigued by Lip & Tami and Kev & V's lives, okay with whatever Debbie and Carl's got going on, hot for Sandy, bored by Frank, and missing Liam. It sets up a lot of promising things, but as an episode all unto itself it felt a bit empty – probably because there were no real plots and the storylines didn't intersect as much as I would have liked them to. Shameless is best when it's about family, which both the show and Frank seems to recognize, but there's little narrative follow-through on that realization in this episode; everyone is pretty much doing their own thing. Adored the Lip and Ian convo, and that house party scene was wonderful, but so short. Think we'll get more of all of them together going forward, though, and more actual plots too, so I'm very excited about it all. Can't wait for Sunday!

Is there a point when it just doesn’t make sense to believe anymore? I mean, fake wedding, separated for quarantine for going on two months, more and more frequent references to Tony/Hubs. I’m exhausted, I just wanted to celebrate the love of two ppl who seem like they love each other. But not sure it’s worth all the drama. It’s beyond bizarre, TBH
Covid-19 has thrown a wrench into everything and this fandom is no exception. Things that used to seem just silly are now like a scene out of Mr Sardonicus. Everything is extra whatever it was before. This whole joke should have been over weeks ago with Sam and Cait back in their Scottish bubble working away on Season 6 and Hawaii should have been a distant joke in a pile of old jokes. So yeah, we got the fake wedding and we got the two months of quarantine. But we don’t know that Sam is not home by now. I suspect he is. And since every con and panel and bit of promo is cancelled for the foreseeable future and we won’t be blessed with any of the ex-music producer, band managing talent manager’s photo bombs, she’s got to make sure he’s with us in spirit. It’s not worse. It’s just different, just another part of the new normal.

Magnum P.I. honest review, S02xE17:
I just have too many things going on in my head right now.
1. Leave it to magnum to jump the gun 😂
This interaction was so cute 😍, the amused but not surprised look Higgy gave him, and his adorable face!
2. Him knowing that something is wrong with her, when she was being snippy, *(I've got such a cute idea on this! May be I'll put it in a separate post)
3. His literal reaction when she said she might have to go back to UK for 6 months to re-apply or that she might be barred from entering the country for 3 yrs. I mean LOOK AT IT! *(Also putting this in the other post coz it's too precious)
He doesn't want to let her go, I agree I wouldn't either. He knows he wants her close, but he just needs to define why.. if her being his partner/friend is the only reason he wants her or may be there is something else.
4. Typical hopeless romantic that he is, he's of course thinking about the wedding all day.
I think this is #1 of the reasons that scares Higgins and why she doesn't want to marry him, like she rightly said at the end of episode,
"you're the hopeless romantic amongst us. Surely this wedding wont be an ideal situation for you."
And he's saying it's fine, but look at his face, he's not fine..
Okay may be I believe that all fandoms and inevitably connected, when I saw his face my mind went to one thing,
"Looking sad when you think no one can see you.."
Because he looks sad here, he wants to genuinely help Higgy and it's the only option (seriously?) they have, but Higgins is right, he's the hopeless romantic and he's the one that needs to handled with care in this situation. This man had once going to actually get real-married to a woman who broke his heart and then when he finally got over that he found another woman who left him saying "there's someone else out there for him".
Getting fake-married, although he says it's fine, is not going to be fine for him. And I think this is why Higgy reconsiders his offer and goes to TC for help, may be they do have this discussion.
It's not her feelings, it's his, at this point, higgy isn't sure if she loves him that way to commit to a wedding, as he said they'll have it annulled later, but it will definitely play with Magnum's heart. Coz hopeless romantics get invested. And she will see it play out first hand in the next episode and I think that will scare her.. for him.
5. Higgins being called out for not asking help.
I understand this, coz 90% of the times I'm in Higgins position.. and if u're used to handle everything on your own, asking for help does seem like a defeat most of the times. But Higgins is growing and Magnum has got to do alot with that. Accepting for help from a friend is OKAY. And she does want to stay in Hawaii, the whole reason she rejected MI6, was because she found something she doesn't want to loose. A.K.A. reason #2 for not marrying Magnum.
That being said, if I let my hopeless shipper heart enjoy a bit, the moment Magnum actually proposed Higgings, was beautiful 😍 the setting, the scenery. She contemplating the things, saying yes and him calling her MRS. MAGNUM!!!! I SQUEALED!!!
But! (There's always a but)
[There's a promo, also pics that show katsumoto talking to Higgy, that's actually about this.] Marrying someone you work with can be very tricky. However fake that might be, it will definitely have an impact someday, somewhere.
What I'm actually looking forward to in the next episode, apart from Magnum planning the wedding, selecting a tux, selecting a cake topper and being overall adorable, is the preparation for "marriage based green card interview" there's a high chance that we'll see Higgins sharing things from her past 🤩.
Don't get me wrong, same goes for Magnum but I know more about Magnum than I know about her and I'd really really like to know her more. *(U'll see more in a second post, I've got things to talk about this too)
Edit: Regarding 2x18, I'm not bluffing I've seen the promo and out things together.

Edited: RECAP OF THE SITUATION
Let me try put all this together, sorry if I forget anything or anyone:
- ROLANDO: stranded in Hawaii still working his bearding and still working press and tabloids with anything Rolando in spite of saying he hent there cause he needed holidays.
- CATALINA STUCK AT HOME WITH ANTONIO: Spending most of her time online and cooking. After clapgate she’s taken a break from SM.
- BRAZILIANS: just resist and trust... like we have nothing, he’s in Hawaii or is he really?, she’s in Glasgow or is she really? Antonio means nothing wedding or not. See the manipulation and lies? They are all going to hell for this. Yes they are.
- LIA WARNER: screaming indignant while showing zero proof or evidence to support her arguments. LOL
- PUFFY: claiming again to have an important screencap but oh no, backtracking just hours later cause you know she can’t share...LOL
- PURV&FATMUSO: masturbating in tandem to a gay dude’s sweaty picture. Dumb and dumber.
- FATMUSO: going over the shipper list of blocks trying to decide if Rolando missed someone while still manipulating the hell of the Hawaii story trying to make it about shipping to achieve two things: that dumbers ignore the perfect timing of Rolando’s bearding campaign beginning just in time for his moive promo (we here have longer memories than Antis you asshole) and also that dumbers ignore how Rolando was downplaying the pandemic and not taking it seriously to the point of getting stranded on an island when every recomendation was from authorities to get your shinny white shaved ass home. Stupid doesn’t even begin to cover his tweets asking people to go to the movies and forget the quarantine or how corona isn’t worse than the flu. We all saw that fatso, no matter how hard to try to cover for it.
- FATMUSO II: it’s not okay for a PR woman to ask for premiere tickets on Twitter yet it’s perfectly okay for a Music Producer and Band Manager (aka Antonio, Catalina’s husband in case you had no idea who I am referring to you Humpty Dumpty) not to get tickets for a Glasgow gig so that his fiance needs to go begging for them on Twitter.
- PURV: thinks everyone else is as dumb as the 4 anti followers she has and is selling all the beards, official or not, as dates of Rolando to fakely engross his love life and dating history. I believe she only worked with facts?? How come there are girls in the dating list that have never been his girlfriends? I’ll tell you, because that list is as fake as Purv’s boobs. All air and no substance.
- CLARYCLARK or whatever the way it is spelled: was a fraud. Turns out it was all lies. How surprising, someone from here that you don’t know from Adam fabricating it all. I hope to god this wasn’ one of the fanfic writers that shippers used as source for one of their old receipts.
- THE STALKER: nothing to say about Hawaii gate or about anything actually.
Does anyone actually believe that with Purv and Fatmuso gloating if anyone (Lia, Puffy, Brazilian, Stalker) had any evidence they wouldn’t have used it to out them by now? It’s all lies and deception and manipulation to keep the game and attention going.
- BIG PICTURE: I’m so fucking tired of folks using this as their wildcard. Whenever they are in a corner they go with you don’t know all the circumstances why people do what they do. Oh yes I know. People lie because are liars. End of story. There’s no reason enough or logical enough for 2 people in their 40 to fake being married to other people and deny being together. No fucking studio no fucking TPTB no fucking career no nothing can force them to do that.
EDITED: wanted to add one last thought, what do you think it’s gonna be Fatmuso’s way out when Rolando comes out?
a) I never knew, he never said anything
b) I always knew, I was just helping out a friend. Anyone would have done the same.

All I wanted was to ignore this fake wedding bullshit and the damn writers went and pulled one of my head canons into the show and made it official and how dare they make me have feelings god damn it?! I hate this storyline; it's a lazy ass rewrite of the nonsense with MI6 from the start of this season. But now I have to celebrate it because it gave me my head canon! This is so unfair and I do not approve! And the promo makes it pretty clear we have at least one more hour of it. URGH? (Vix)
Like, 99% of my irritation with this is just the bad writing, and really making Juliet as unsympathetic as possible. The fact that skeezy Jin is pointing “hey, it’s still illegal” when she says she doesn’t want fake paperwork to stay in the country was actually a solid point from him. And with Katsumoto later on pointing out “Did you seriously not think this through? ICE aren’t complete morons. They’re going to go to your clients, they’re going to dig deep - don’t get married for a green card” and she at least looks....kinda sheepish? Kinda guilty? But then any hope that she’s learned anything gets blown to hell when instead of her sucking it up and saying “Look, I didn’t think this through, this is going to ruin whatever relationship I can hope to have with anyone (because it now involves Kumu, Shammy, the guys, AND Katsumoto at minimum), I’ll just swallow my pride and go home and get one of my contacts to work on it from there”, she turns around and asks TC to fake marry her instead. Literally nothing is solved by this. Now they’re still committing a federal crime, but the names have been switched around. And allllll of this bullshit after she point blank says “if it’s illegal, that makes wrong” when concerning someone else’s problems/decisions, but it’s perfectly okay for her? And how the fuck is that going to fly with ICE? “No one has ever seen you with this guy, and we’re supposed to believe you’re getting married within three days of your deportation deadline? That’s not suspicious at all.” It’s just...the shittiest, most plot-hole laden writing I have seen in a long while. And yeah, you raise a valid point - how many times do we have to have “Oh, well, I’m going back to England - OR AM I?!” as a plot? And they don’t even follow their own established rules - Katsumoto knows a guy who can help out with immigration services, Robin can literally solve any major problems with money, Rick can create fake paperwork, Higgins is a computer hacker of the finest order (but somehow doesn’t want to commit a crime that would only involve her?) Just....
URRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH.
And just in case people think I’m just mad about things involving Higgins, I am super pissed at the costume department that demoted Magnum between the pilot and Day I Met The Devil and jacked up his warfare pins, fucked his ribbon rack, AND HAD HIM SALUTING INDOORS WITHOUT A COVER. They’re in Hawaii. They have Google. You can figure shit out easily enough, guys. This shouldn’t be an issue. (Alternately, I know enough people that went downrange without a helmet that the fact that they weren’t wearing any in Blood Brothers makes no never mind to me, which seemed to piss off a lot of people). Anyway. What was your head canon that they confirmed?

No spoiler tag needed! It was only if it wasn't the last episode, and I googled, it might have given some one-line misleading promo for whatever the next (not yet broadcast) episode was. And I wouldn't want to see that. But I am up to date! Yeah, I found this season overall a bit meh. I mean it feels like they're settling in for the long haul - hoping it will be another multiyear runner like Hawaii 5-0 I guess - and I'm pleased with that since it's so fun and feel good, but I really thought we'd
2) get a bit of progress on the whole "Ivan" issue and I thought I'd read that we would learn more about Higgins' family this season, which with all the stuff about going home to London at the beginning of the season, the wedding and the visa issues later, I kept waiting to happen, but never did. And they've been very heavy handed with some of the Miggy fore-shadowing yet not much changed on that front either. It was, indeed, anticlimactic.
oh ok cool! yeah honestly i knew a lot of spoilers going into the finale and i almost wish i didn’t because nothing exciting really happened?
i totally forgot about learning more about higgins family! i wish we would have seen that. and ivan. i honestly don't even remember how that storyline ended because i remember it also being anticlimactic lol
i completely agree with you. it is a fun and feel good show and i like that, but it needs more...umph. like honestly at this point it needs higher stakes, more emotions, more mystery, more im-on-the-edge-of-my-seat. imo. maybe thats just me, though. i thought i didn’t want her to leave but now i almost wish she had because it was such a long build up and such a cop out ending. WITH NO HUG. NO. HUG. ITS JUST MEAN.

Honeymoon Destination Hawaii
Do you dream of Hawaii Wedding trip? From its white sandy beaches? Of its volcanic landscapes? We had already flown over the destination with Flora in a previous article but this destination was rather for her an extension of her honeymoon in Japan. This time we return with Urielle, blogger of the Adventurers of life and mistress of ceremony under the same name, which takes us in a veritable whirlwind of information, photos, good addresses.
First a complete presentation of the destination, and photos that make you dream. Then, as always, we try to be as concrete as possible on this blog, so you will find all the technical info, budget and quantity of good addresses To prepare your trip at the end of the article.
Oahu * *
It is the main island where Honolulu and its famous Waikiki beach are located. Honolulu is a nice city, which looks like a Disneyland by the turquoise sea. We thought we were hated, and we loved shopping in the middle of the buildings before drinking a cocktail in front of the sunset.
In Oahu you can visit Pearl Harbor, very interesting (and excellent argument for sir, there is a submarine and fighter jets, mine had stars in the eyes), but also get away from Honolulu for (Paradise of surfers), the east coast (paradise short, with its white sand beaches and turquoise waters), visiting Byodo In Temple or the Polynesian Cultural Center (we did not do it, but everyone says That's fine).
It is a very varied island, with a nice relief and very impressive highways.
Big Island, the island of the volcano
To go to Hawaii without going to Kilauea is a heresy for me. The lunar landscapes as far as the eye can see, the flight of the lava lake and helicopter flows, the lava flow at your feet, all this justifies for me the 24 hours of flight in an Air France sardine box ... The land that is created Big Island (also known as Hawaii), it is also two peaks over 4000 m (if so), the virgin forest, snorkelling very nice, nice beaches, Waterfalls, and the Hawaiian heritage ... A big favorite for this island that brings together all the climates of the planet apart from the polar.
Kauai Island Garden
Kauai has served as a shooting location for many films, and when one discovers it one understands why. The landscapes are unique and exceptional, especially on the Napali Coast. We are not good enough hikers to have appreciated this island because a large part of the island is inaccessible by car and very vaguely on foot from September 15th, since the summit of Kauai is a Of the rainiest places on the planet, with 13m of water per year (but I reassure you, the south coast is dry, so you can take refuge there).
You do not realize, but it's enoooorme 13m ... In France, the record is on Mount Aigoual and it's 4m. Part of the coast is very urbanized, full of tourists, and we did not like it too much. A tour by plane or helicopter, as well as a boat trip, Make it possible to discover the incredible landscapes of this island. And we had our beach, at the end of the island, 10 km of golden sand beaten by the waves, and a little bath protected by the reefs, with the cliffs starting at the bottom ... If you go, Our share in Polihale Beach.
Why is it a good idea to go there?
I recommend this destination for those who are not great adventurers but want to do something else but stay in a hotel: Hawaii is adventure safe, with the scenery of the US AND an island tropical . This is also the best place for Hawaii Wedding.
It's a pretty amazing mix of hiking, shopping, beach, small fish and volcanoes! And people are really adorable .
When you want a few paradisiac beaches but not that, it's perfect: there are beautiful beaches, but they are very punctual ... So much to do other than to stick to the beach all day! Especially since as soon as one leaves the beach and the few spots very tourist, there is nobody any more ... Add to this that we found the weather very pleasant, not too hot, with always a little air. And the water is at 28 °, which suits me very well😉 What to Know Before You Go Flight time: about 24 hours from Lyon, often more. If you can ever choose, make the trip West Coast - Hawaii with Alaska Airlines: past the minute of worry where you are wondering if your flight is not going to take you to Anchorage, we loved this very cool company that gave us the Feeling that we had already arrived in Hawaii as soon as we embarked in Seattle. Hawaiian Airlines is frankly a lot more tight, though hostesses are far more guns.
Vaccines: none, and more generally nothing dangerous except the blows of suns and the centipedes. (No snakes to the delight of my husband) Time difference: 12h, it's easy to remember!
When to go? You can go to Hawaii all year round. For the hiking, it is better to privilege the summer (from April-May to September-October), and for the whales and the surf, from November to March. Avoid December and January, high tourist season, with cargoes of American retirees who land. September is perfect: low price, hot water, little rain.
The Budget
7500 € with two all inclusive (flights, accommodation, cars, food and excursions) for three weeks, organized by us with hours spent on the net to find the right plan. By travel agencies, it is quickly overpriced.
Truth Info
The inconvenients :
- the hotels: expensive and far from being idyllic (you see the Maldives, the cabanons of charm, ben make a cross on it, here it is rather ambiance La Grande Motte with palm trees). Target the guest rooms and rentals in condominiums.
- It's touristy: if you do not have a rental car to escape, plan to share your deckchair by the pool with overexcited Japanese and American families a little bit boring .
- It's the United States: you're going to hurt your sustainable development if you vaguely have ecological fiber. The big 4 × 4, the lack of public transport, urbanization without reflection, inequalities (many homeless people on some beaches, but they are not the most beautiful), etc. It also has its advantages: the cleanliness and the level of equipment of the beach parks (me, pee in the public toilets of a beach, I can assure you that it happens not often), the quality of the service, Speak English, the protected areas are very well .
- Teddy's bigger burgers, mmmmmmmmm .... You are not going to eat very well: apart from breakfast in bed and breakfast, the only good thing was the burgers and the Asian restaurants.
The best addresses of Urielle Oahu
The New Otani Kaimana Hotel in Waikiki: we chose it because it is far from the most moving part, quiet on Sans Souci Beach. You walk 10 min between the beach and a park to reach other hotels, bars, restaurants. We were afraid of the atmosphere of Waikiki, which explains our choice.
On the spot, a rather pretty restaurant, under the trees by the beach. Dear, but we eat well and what a frame! The breakfast is in the same place. Our first night in Hawaii was perfect.
The Royal Hawaiian if you want to indulge yourself: the most beautiful hotel in Waikiki, which looks like a big pink cream cake, decorated with great care, in an outdated ambiance. Service very nice, nothing to be careful without being stuffy.
The restaurant Moana Surfrider : a crazy terrace with wooden columns, live music, very romantic ... Book in advance and ask for a table near the sea. Rent a studio on Kailua Beach in the east of Oahu. Ours was on the beach, it was perfect, in spite of the deco a bit kitsch (the owners are Austrians, not everyone can be perfect) ... The beach seemed surprisingly unoccupied, and yet it is the True beach of postcard with turquoise waters.
Finally, we did a photo shoot with Mark Holladay, and the photos are pretty guns. It is specialized on the underwater photos, if it tries some .
Hawaii: Volcano Places : a perfect bed and breakfast to discover the volcano. Kate is adorable, and the cottage is really well equipped.
Horizon Guest House : We ended up there after the overbooking of the place we had booked, and we were upgraded to this wonderful place which has become our happy place ... The pictures do not do justice to this peaceful place , Where Clem welcomes you with exactly the right amount of care that preserves your privacy. The infinity pool and jacuzzi are to die for. The rooms are decorated with care, and the breakfast is a killer. I tried to redo the pancakes with coconut milk and mango, but nothing to see. If you have a plan for this you might want to contact the best people for this. https://www.iwanttomarryyou.org

FLP CHAPBOOK OF THE DAY: Museum of Things by Liz Chang
PREORDER NOW: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/museum-of-things-by-liz-chang/
“A powerful and ingenious collection of personal artifacts–and the associated memories–in poetry form.” –Kirkus Reviews
Liz Chang was the 2012 Montgomery County Poet Laureate in Pennsylvania. Her poems have appeared in Verse Daily, Rock & Sling, Origins Journal, Breakwater Review and Stoneboat Literary Journal, among others.
ADVANCE PRAISE FOR Museum of Things by Liz Chang
Come, enter Liz Chang’s memorable museum of meaning-filled, metaphor-lined objects, objects that often reveal, with empathy and irony, much about the sender and the not-so-hidden messages the sender intends: “…my grandparents, who sent/Schulz crib sheets from Hawaii/paying whatever astronomical price to ship/…as a declaration of their wishes for me,/that I might always be/uncomplicated, docile, faithful.” View the Walrus Soap wedding gift to her parents that makes Chang imagine her mother’s “unmoored feeling of a lone white face floating/in the sea of Asian tradition. The fall through/the looking-glass and out the other side of the world.” Taste the story inside the unsippy cup— how the speaker would “shade her [daughter] one more moment/so that she may drink her fill.” Imagine the daughters adding wings to the Chang family Museum of Things.
–Doris Ferleger, author of As the Moon Has Breath
Under close examination, can the material objects of our lives—the things we observe, which also observe us, clarify our own Alice in Wonderland life experiences? Cataloged, complete with component pieces, lineage of different family collections, and their specific measurements, Liz Chang offers us a tour through her Museum of Things, which speaks of how we attempt, with things, to be “anchored to this world.” Through the keepsakes, the collectors’ items, the refurbished rubbish, and “the shards, fallen / like so many eggshells” we attempt to organize our existence. These poems animate the objects, as Chang gives each object agency—as marker of life’s moment, as measure of memory, “but it is the story I am after” as the speaker says, and we come to feel our longing to make sense of life’s chaotic details, of our parents whose stories we enter at intermission, and of generations past who occupy even less shelf space. In these poems we are asked to examine what is passed down, what is picked up, and why— “picking through the well-offs’ cast-offs, their casual / disregard, rather than face our own crumbling.” Through objects, Chang holds up class, racism, sexism, xenophobia, alongside issues of infertility, loss, heartache, and so weaves a room where we must also look at the future—and hope that we can say aloud, “we share these things, a history /…you are mine.” Chang speaks to our fragility, our momentary existence which we pretend away by making objects and children to outlast us—our attempts to pass down ourselves in a carefully curatedMuseum of Things. These are poems that will shift how you look around your domestic spaces and how you see yourself in the world.
–Amelia Martens, author of The Spoons in the Grass are There to Dig a Moat
In her museum, Liz Chang shows that even the mundane things of everyday life contain stories, and when Chang brings all those stories together, they pose questions, stir memories, upend beliefs, and finally, contribute to an ongoing story which is a life. Chang’s language is rich, metaphorical, lyrical, and brings us closer to understanding the complexity of the human condition.
–Grant Clauser, author of Muddy Dragon on the Road to Heaven

Southwest Roadtrip - Episode 1: Viva las Vegas
When it comes to discovering the US, Johnny Cash kept it simple and straight to the point:
“I've been everywhere, man. Crossed the desert's bare, man. I've breathed the mountain air, man. Of travel I've had my share, man. I've been everywhere.“
And what a journey it was! Who knew a failed attempt to fly to Hawaii would result in such a fun adventure? We packed our stuff and jumped on a plane, destination Southwest of America. Starting by Vegas, passing through Arizona, stopping by Utah, resting in Colorado. Only my friend Belu would be as kamikaze to propose such thing and found in me such a blind partner-in-crime. It was September 4th, and we were rushing in a taxi from Hoboken to Newark to board our first flight during a global sanitary emergency, looking like Darth Vader’s close cousins with our masks and face shields.
After an approximately 6-hour flight, we landed in the middle of literally nowhere. We were able to see the pyramid and some other iconic architecture which I currently do not remember because it was about only for 5 seconds before landing. On arrival, on a mostly empty airport, we were surprised by the amount of slot machines that were there, welcoming everyone to place their bets. For sure, ours was to have fun and contrary to common belief, the house didn't win this one: we had a blast!
Followed by a surprise “SIN CITY, WOOO HOOO!” shout from someone who obviously has been living inside a thermos for the last past months, we cracked up and went to fetch a car. This very nice gentleman took us to the Bellagio (yeap, we went full on cliche mode, with what was originally a non-existent promo) while DJ Dani blasted her best records to kick off this adventure with the right feet: Viva Las Vegas by Elvis Presley and Just a Gigolo by Louis Prima Success.
DAY 1:
First things first: check in and adventure. Hotel, amenities and surroundings. Vegas spins around two main areas: the famous Strip, 6.8kms of the brightest place on earth seen from outer space full of hotels, restaurants, shops and of course, casinos. Pretty much Disneyworld for adults. The Bellagio is the iconic hotel which hosts some of the greatest restaurants and also the famous dancing fountains. Also, is one that is pretty centrally located, in between Caesars Palace (Roman Empire themed), The Cosmopolitan (which imitates boheme life from France) Aria and Park MGM Las Vegas (New York City represent!), Excalibur (Middle Ages) Luxor (Cleopatra’s Egypt) and The Venetian (of course, Venice). Everything is within walking distance but beware of the heat: a normal day in the desert is around 42C (107F), if not more, with a melting down thermal sensation of 1000 in any scale. This is why is also a city that is enjoyable during night time. So, do not feel bad about sleeping in a bit: you can always chill by the pool in the morning, have a little something for lunch and sleep (or remove the hangover) during the afternoon when the sun is unbearable. OR, the casino is always open so that could be an option. We chose to walk around a bit (big mistake) but luckily once you enter to the casinos, they are all connected with escalators, shade and AC, so we were mesmerized by this grown up themed park, where is so easy to lose track of time.
After an Italian lunch on a french bistro in a corner of Paris (? yes.. I know..) we went back and rest by the pool. Once the sun was already getting ready to bet some chips at night, we did too: we changed into our most shinny and glamorous outfit and won exactly 27 dollars! We checked out Venice, and some of the night shows that were happening on the streets (like naked promoters, the massive PM lines, and the crazy long-ass “juice” towers flowing around the more energetic covid-prone crowds) right before we headed up to Yellowtail, the Japanese and Michelin Starred restaurant at the Bellagio. We had their famous tuna pizza (it sounds terrible but it is more of a tostada or sashimi-style like) and got disappointed that they run out of the short ribs, but instead had some amazing sushi rolls and some tempura bites. When we found out about the beautiful, sigh-seeing windows that displayed all the fountain show we left our high-end attires aside and run to the windows, interrupting some other people’s dinner while leaving the waiters behind. We decided to go for dessert somewhere else and went to the piano bar located at the reception for a delicious espresso and a chocolate diamond cake. We did some neon-gazing and loved the fountain show to the beat of Believe by Cher, while being overwhelmed by a surreal feeling of actually being there, having so much fun and appreciating our friendship (and of course, avoided a high/drunk fellow who tried to take our pics and phone with them - she didnt know we were from New York and from Rio de la Plata, so the scam was on her!)
DAY 2
Repeat. (and pretty much that’s all we did). We kicked it off with a fake breakfast by the pool, and some piñas coladas in between facemasks. We also had a light lunch by the pool (a greek salad with some much needed water) and then, around 6:15 we took a cab to the Neon Museum - yeap, for those who think there is only light fun in Vegas, nope, think again, there are worthy museums, too! ( I even made a joke here! damn I’m inspired!). The Neon Museum is a scrap dealer cemetery, where all the old and somehow “broken” -even thou most of them have been repaired and are currently working!- neon signs from Old time Vegas rest. It is very fun to see old hotels, random letters, icons and logos being laid there, creating a wonderful mess in the middle of, again, you guess right, the desert. It was very fun and beautiful to be honest.
Another short taxi drive later (I was too naif thinking we could walk in short heels under the killer heat more than a block!) we drove thru what is known as “Old Vegas” or “Downtown Vegas”. This used to be the place where the magic happened before the creation of the Strip, but nowadays it only hosts what lingers of once a glamorous and kitschy past. The center of this action can be found throughout Freemont Street, a pedestrian long avenue that gathers classic neon signs, all-time Vegas characters (we still missed out on Elvis, so watch out impersonator, we will be back just for you!), stripers, street sellers, all you can eat venues, dodgy bars, and more and more neons. According to Las Vegas Tourism Board>> “Fun people, crazy people, partying, gambling, drinking, street performers, free music and light shows, zip lining and just having a good time... that's what you expect at Freemont.”
We had some pizza, talked to this Montana guy who for a second thought he was able to have a threesome with us on his dirty van, were voluntary abused by these hot, ripped stripers who made us laugh with their pick up line: “You can leave your face mask here, right by your underwear too, please.” The guys were a “sample” - since the show is canceled due to the pandemic- of Chippendales, something a fine woman needs to experience once in their lifetime. Belu felt in love with her boy, but given the current times and protocols, this love couldn't prosper as we all wished it had. No worries amiga, next time!
But the most striking part of this decadent place was witnessing this surreal restaurant called Heart Attack Grill, where people who weight more than 350lbs (almost 160kgs) eat for free. The biggest burger consist on 8 patties, and as an FYI, only the 4 patty burger is marked on the Guinness World Records Book as the “Quadruple Bypass Burger” with almost 10.000 calories, all the beverages consists on massive soft drinks, milkshakes, beers and wine, (full bottles, of course, served from an IV drip bag) and it is not allowed to share food. The place is cash only, you gotta weight yourself before entering, each patty is made of half pound each, everybody must wear hospital gowns and if you dare not to finish your meal, you get three spanks by the horny yet not so sexy waitress dressed as nurses. As a nice little detail, on the biggest burger you can pump it up with 40 slices of bacon by only $7.99 more! And, to wrap up this majestic hospital parlor, I recently researched that the legal owner of Heart Attack Grill is hilarious – Diet Center LLC. The founder is Jon Basso, who strives to provide “nutritional pornography” in his food. For a better comprehension (for a lack of a better word) of this place, you can check out this recap of Showtime’s series: Deadly Sins.
So, we were mesmerized, we were educated, we bet, we ate, we drunk and we touched some sweaty strippers, so there was only one thing left to do: crush a weeding. So there we went. There were multiple chapels around the area, but I dont know whether it was the time (it was around, 9, 9 and coins) so it may have been a little bit too late or due to COVID, but no weddings were in place. We finally arrived to the Little White Chapel, the original, unique one that has the Elvis sign, the drive-thru and the proud sign that states how Michael Jordan and Joan Collins got married there. We were so bummed to found only a very young, very dull couple getting married (she was wearing black, hence, that is all you need to know) and there was not a very jolly, merry spirit. Still, we managed to hang out with the best men and got a picture of two to remember this fail attempt to crush this very much lame wedding. Up we went to the Bellagio, checking out what was missing from Sin City: the Wynn Hotel, Route 515, 51 and the Famous Welcome to Las Vegas Sign.
We wrapped this unique experience witnessing an amazing, full moon in the middle of the desert, with a massive and delicious full on breakfast at Sadelle’s, a little piece of home in our far-away-from home hotel. Till next time, Vegas! You were great fun!

Wasn’t the idea after the wedding that she did that so Sam wouldn’t need a narrative? Is the idea now that something happened that made it so both need a narrative? Must be BTS bc prior to this current issue things were super quiet shipwise
I don’t believe this narrative was ever meant to be long term. It came right on the heels of his tour of the States with Alex and then with a group of guys whooping in up in Mexico. The casual onlooker wouldn’t know that that was for business or that those were all married, settled down men. Then into Bloodshot promo...who knows what they had in mind for Sam’s image or what it would have looked like with the missing parts that were written for the time between the pier walk and after Outlander promo was to end with Paley on the 19th? The pandemic might have even added to the script. If this lockdown is to be for the long haul, what better way to prove Sam and Cait aren’t together than to show him shacked up in Hawaii?

Magnum P.I. S02xE18-20 spoilers and tidbits
I thought i’ll give a prologue first 😅 Remember i pet project where i was trying to decipher the episode names? yea i didn’t get very far on that.. but i have come to a conclusion, that each title is a convention for what the clients in that episode, and/or our P.I. is going through. Eg. S02xE16 : Farewell To Love
Episode starts with Gladys and Bert who had given up on love but eventually found it in one another. The fact that Gladys narrated this part makes it poetic in a sense that she was the one who had to say bid farewell to Bert. Then TC and Teresa, they found the one that they always loved. The one who made them happier, but TC had to let her go go, he bid farewell to his love, instead of ruining 3 lives. In the beginning of the episode, we see magnum all in for online dating, but after what happened with Dylan, we see him coming to an abrupt conclusion that online dating is just isn’t the thing for him, also adding to the fact, the girl who met through an app (Abby) had just recently broken off with him. So magnum kind of bid a metaphorical farewell to finding love online.
Spoilers for S02x18, S02x19 and S02x20 under the cut if you wish to continue. Warning: My rant got hella long, longer than i planned and there are lots of pics and links below. Thanks @maggiesoa and @lizzysfavs for providing some food for my thoughts 😊
So.. lets begin with S02x18 : A world of trouble I’m just grouping together the pics that I’ve found so far which seem to be related to episode 18: Perdy and Bobby discussed about having a scene together ignore jay’s comment here, I’m all for #TeamJin and I will riot if they ever kill him. I believe the episode starts with Jin, showing up at Robin’s nest, where he ends up in a situation where he has to change in magnum’s clothes (note the t-shirt magnum is ironing... (Edit: DIDN'T HAPPEN!!?? I MEAN!! This could have been cute.. didn't have to be a total BTS for once!!) Where we get this scene, All i can guess right now is that is a tab in Jin’s had, and he’s being a fair judge for miggy while they prepare for their visa interview, or he could be here with today’s case
Which takes us to to the primary promo for 2x18, where they solve the case at hand. Now my guess is that the case doesnt take up entire 47 minutes, because this promo also exists. What this secondary promo also shows is them at a office(?) guessing visa or may be its a school where the current client works? where magnum/higgy blurts out that they’re marrying and some lady says that they don’t look like a couple. We also see Katsumoto warning Higgy about the consequences of marrying their business partner. (Edit: this did happen and fueled Higgy’s resolve to back out.. nothing wrong there..but as Jin said.. may it be with Magnum or TC, u’re still breaking the law Mrs. I can figure out how pretending with TC is going to get good results? if anything.. it only comes out of nowhere) I’m sensing a connection here again with the title of the episode: A world of trouble: - The current client, the case was definitely given to them by some one else because they approach the lady coz Higgy says “You’re in trouble, we just want to help you.”, which means she might have refused help at one point. - Literally 2 people in a 2 min worth promo have commented on their wedding, does this not sound like trouble to you?
When magnum is possibly heading out to go to La Mariana, (Edit: DING! DING! DING! This was indeed before the bar scene.. which kinda broke my heart.. but we’ll talk about that in detail later) she tells him that she’s reconsidered her decision that she will be marrying TC instead (which is weird, but for the sake of it, OK). Which also implies that she’s going to have a heart to heart with TC how she had one with Rick before in 2x13. (Edit: Umm.. i would have liked to hear the entire convo here.. but i guess its going to come back a flashback some day?) Magnum than heads to the bar, with Jin where he meets up with his friends and we get this, going by past experiences, this is going to be the last scene where he’s with his friends. Now what leaves me confused is this guy below, the one that magnum rescued and now has a food truck (Rem S1x01, they got him all the way from there now). He’s not listed for 2x18, but the actors caption says 2x18? So is he like the caterer for the wedding? (i thought kamekona was doing that?) or he’s there for entirely other reason?
Now this all leads up to S02x19 : May The Best One Win Again the title is the synopsis here,
Magnum and Higgins are each hired by a different spouse who are in the middle of a contentious divorce to dig up dirt on the other, and Thomas and Higgins soon find themselves competing over resources.
But i don’t think them competing again each other is the only thing here, remember this gem from TV guide magazine? - Jay mentions there being an odd jealousy there, and there is something percolating between the duo which magnum doesn’t want to address just yet. I think the competition is not just between Magnum and Higgy, for magnum it is also between him and TC. May be he’ll be still trying to show her that he is the one she should be marrying, even if that’s fake. - And for the implied element we also have this garage fight, where they’re up against “just one guy, but a very big guy”. This again i don’t think takes forever to solve since, there’s an upcoming wedding everyone has to attend, we’ve all seen the famous pics, but this:
Him again!! And looks like he is in fact catering the event. Now since S02x19 and S02x20 are to be merged into one mega episode, lets slip into: S02x20 : A Leopard on the Prowl
Magnum and Higgins help Rick when his father figure, Icepick , just out of prison and battling terminal cancer, gets double crossed on one last score. Also, Magnum makes one last bold move to help Higgins stay in the country.
This is the rick centric episode the viewers were promised, Adding pics of Zac coz he looks great here:
But do you see anything missing here? My sleep deprived brain does. Icepick seems to be have fallen pray to something on the run, nothing pre-planned, the guy has terminal cancer, he’s dying any day now, why would someone spend any time to plan something against him? (He’s probably going to die in this epi..he only had few months.. the article says “reluctantly try to help him” seriously guys why do you have to be reluctant? And below pic is probably of the same related fight scene Jay talked about in the TV guide snippet:
And if the video Jay uploaded is even close to the actual scene, it could be because the guy hit Rick/Higgy and Magnum picked up another fight with him.. or that’s just for insta.. I’ll leave it open. There’s a fight scene with TC as well i suppose. Now what does the title have to do with the episode? Here’s my theory: - Remember Dr. Kim i already mentioned twice above. He’s gotta be here for more than just “catering the wedding”, magnum said he was a code breaker, he was mentioned in one of Robin’s books, he instantly identified the co-ordinates which Nuzzo left for Magnum, (which is duh! u’re telling me that magnum was a navy SEAL and can read waves but cant piece together actual co-ordinates?!!). Magnum was kidnapped by Ivan’s people coz he needed something from him which was in the books, later Ivan had magnum delivered to himself on a secret mission of retrieving Hayek, who was a weapons dealer but he got away with drones instead.. I think this is all related somehow, there has to be something in this episode that points to this.. I thought may be its in Robin’s books.. but they have never mentioned the same book twice.. I’m still looking for answers though.. But going ahead, see this ,
“ Magnum makes one last bold move to help Higgins stay in the country.” “You see Higgins in a unexpected position, which magnum is very uncomfortable with and where he is not sure about his place”
Soo.. the wedding didn’t happen? So that’s not helping her stay in the country?
It didn’t bother me much before.. but think about this, what if since the wedding plan backfired, she has to go back to London until her visa is renewed/reapplied for : an unexpected position since she has found something in Hawaii she doesn’t want to loose. Which leaves magnum as the in-charge of Robin’s nest and Zeus and Apollo and part of the deal [I can almost see my HC at the horizon]. An uncomfortable position where he has to manage the estate and the hounds of hell without his “professional better half”. I think there is a beach good-bye scene on this day, may be an actual hug between miggy? Supporting evidence as follows:
Now the last attempt Magnum makes, does he offer her a job? Does he confess? But that wouldn’t automatically land her in an unexpected situation , that would be magnum putting her in that situation while being full aware of his position. I bet lenkov has got pretty good plan for this to play out. Now this doesn’t back up my crack where Higgins leaves, because
This story was posted along with the one where magnum is boating.. so they’re probably from the same episode.. where the last ditch effort has paid off but Magnum and Higgins roles have now been shifted a little and lenkov’s quote makes sense “Nothing really changes”.. has anyone ne noticed that there are no Juliet pics from 2x20 yet?
I cant wait to see that though.. and for a 100% i know there is a season 3, its a gut feeling i have. Thank you for stopping by.. sorry it was too long 😘

Lolll lol I can’t stop laughing at people who think everything that is presented on sm is real (eg Rolandodo and all his girls). And then think people who don’t buy it are the ridiculous ones. Good job you’ve been played and you don’t even realize it.
No, the problem of all those people are their hypocrisy. They can say certain sm activity is fake (Rolando's girls as you say, their ignoring each other for the sake of narrative or his pretending to be on Hawaii when he was in Scotland. Crazy huh?) but then take other social media activity as gospel when it's clear it's mere promo or shipper bait. They take what they like and discard what's not convenient for their tales.
There's absolutely nothing off screen showing SC behave as a couple yet they claim they are married with kids. You have a Tait wedding last summer with location, friends, family, rings, her speaking of her husband, changing her status from Miss to Mrs, her mom speaking about Antonio's proposal... and they say it's all fake.
Total hypocrisy and willing blindness.

Barack Obama's Golf Party Disrupts a Wedding
US President Barack Obama's passion for golf disrupted the organization of a Hawaii Wedding of a couple of US military personnel in Hawaii, who had to change places of celebration at the last minute.
Captains Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue had all prepared to exchange their consents Sunday on the Kaneohe Klipper green, located on a Marines base.
Learning that Obama was to hit the ball just as they exchanged their vows, the bride and groom changed the venue, which eventually took place on a bucolic lawn in the residence of the base commander, with a view On the Pacific.
The bride and groom then received a telephone call from Obama, also the army chief, who congratulated them and apologized for the inconvenience.
The president called to apologize
"Obama has just called in person my sister and her new husband to apologize for disrupting their golf ceremony." Incredible! "Said Natalie Heimel's sister on Twitter.
The call was "totally fulfilled," said Becca Dryer, a friend of the bride, who was attending the Hawaii Wedding ceremony, according to the New York Daily News.
Obama is on vacation for 9 days in Hawaii, his native state, where he has already played golf six times, according to the newspaper.
On Christmas Eve, on Wednesday, he played with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razzak. The wedding was organized by a popular wedding planner in Hawaii. https://www.iwanttomarryyou.org
