Great recap as always!! LOL
Hubs Watches BOMB 102
Hubs:  This is a brutal scene.  But it is as good as any Hollywood movie
Me:  it is incredible filming.
Tumblr media
Hubs:  Nice parallel between Henry and Claire and the horrors of war
Tumblr media
Hubs:  What an tedious job that must have been, redacting personal mail.
Tumblr media
Hubs:  Seriously, these war scenes are very cinematic
Tumblr media
Hobs:  Now how did Henry know that was Julia?
Tumblr media
Hubs:  There we have it. The gemstone is gone
Tumblr media
Hubs:  Jeez;  I didn’t see that kidnapping coming
Tumblr media
Hubs:  So they’re not showing up how Henry got through?  Or knew Julia had?
Tumblr media
Hubs:  The Grants are bougie.
Tumblr media
Hubs:  So he’s a lawyer.  Useful.  I get it now.
Tumblr media
Hubs:  Uh oh.  Bad news for the bladier
Tumblr media
Hubs:  A fait accompli
Tumblr media
Hubs:  So, I guess they’re going to spend the whole season separated like this.
Tumblr media
Hubs:  I see where Jamie gets his gallantry from
Tumblr media
Hubs:  Yikes! . And I thought the Grants seemed nice.
Tumblr media
Hubs:  I love all the younger versions of the characters
Tumblr media
Hubs:  So, Ned is a pimp now?
Tumblr media
Hubs:  Oh, I forgot Julia was pregnant.
Tumblr media
Hubs:  It’s interesting so far

Moo, have you seen The Amateur? What did you think of it and about Cait's role and performance?
No, I haven't. That ain't my kind usual kind of movie but I believe it's already on one of the platforms I use for entertainment so now I'm on holidays maybe I'll give it a try. I'm just happy for her seeing her name on bus stops here in Spain advertising movies of hers or seeing her on trailers on tv. It gives me the chance to say "hey, that's OL lead actress right there!" to whomever I'm with at that moment. Funny story, I was with my mom watching one of those weird afternoon movies on Antena3 (any spaniard will know what I'm talking about) and there comes this young guy on the screen and I'm like wtf, that dude looks so much like the guy playing Brian on BOMB... no wait, that's gotta be him... and I go look for the movie's title and cast and bam, Jamie Roy indeed. I swear I hadn't seen anything from him before (or I hadn't noticed) and now he's on my TV... that was a sign, a reminder that I had BOMB to bingwatch and I just did. The movie was Picture perfect lies, if you were wondering.
As for Cait, there was never any doubt about her acting abilities or craft, we just critised the change in the Jamie and Claire sex scenes and her use of the hands for grabbing Jamie's face. She's landing pretty big roles in movies with pretty big names so she must be doing something right apart from having a face that can convey a million feelings with just a small gesture,

I was curious about BOMB simply because they added Claire's parents but ultimately decided not to bother watching it, because I resent DG and Starz and don't want to give them any more money and attention. Will be interesting to see how well it does.
I totally see your point anon but I feel like you are punishing yourself more than you punish them.
If all the plots and twists we are considering are true, well those must have hurt Herself more than any audience losing could.

I'll say since no one else will. Bomb is different in enough places and its good. Just as good and at some things, better than OL. The acting is nuanced, quiet and better than OL in that. No pantomiming Sam with eyes too wide for a close up nor extra scouling from Cait. Jamie Roy is not Sam thank goodness and Hermione is better than Cait. Chemistry, the vote is still out for me, have not seen enough. But holds interest and will tune in again. Im not looking for Outlander so maybe Im more open to the good things which are many. Try it, interested in what you think.
Thanks anon for sharing your opinion!!
Now that I've caught up with the show I can post this and share mine too!
I gotta say I'm liking BOMB very much so far and I feel like I'm enjoying it as a double treat:
- by following the actual "new"(?) stories they are telling and
- at the same time trying to find clues or links to the OL show.
To me casting has been totally on point and couldn't have been better for the roles considered here. The only one I'm finding hard to get is Henry. The rest, I swear it is like watching other versions of the same people (Jamie and Claire). I can totally buy Jamie was the son of THAT Ellen and THAT Brian and I can totally say Claire was Julia's daughter.
Main cast resemblance to the others is uncanny but it is not only their images, it's their manerisms, cadence of speak and in some cases even the voices. I don't know how much of that is actors studying and good work and how much is dubbing or AI or especial effects but the result is extraordinary. This applies to all secondary characters too.
Now regarding the plot, [SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHEDS BUT WANT TO, STOP READING] I wasn't sure I was gonna like the twist of having Julia and Henry travel through the stones to the past and not only that, but arriving right at Craig Na Duhn and Lallybroch at the time of Jamie's parents. I didn't see that "crossover" (if you allow me to call it like that) coming.
I swear my brain is so hard at work while watching and yet I can't help but feel I'm still missing little details that could make a diference.
People are much more observant and eloquent than I am so I am amazed at the new theories and posibilities they come up with. One example is [AGAIN STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANNA SPOIL SURPRISES OR BE DISSAPOINTED IF IT ENDS UP NOT HAPPENING] how the twist of Claire's parents not dying in that car crash can affect OL show finale. Just imagine, if they didn't die but got stuck in the past that means they could still be alive and meet Claire again (I'm having goosebumps as I type this mind you) So, while we have been shocked to death and crying at the posibility of Faith having survived Paris and being related to Fanny and Jane, maybe even having traveled to the future herself or who the hell knows what else, they could have been cooking burying us all by having Claire reunite with her own mother too. Before you say it's too farfetched, I will remind you Claire was raised by her uncle Lamb after her parents road trip and car crash.... and BOMB has already shown us the writers have chosen to keep them alive after that. There's no way they wouldnt go back to their daughter if they could... so they got stuck in the past or died while trying to come back to their own time. And all this without having mentioned here yet that Julia is pregnant so that Claire could have a sister or brother in the past too.
My mind is in a swirl spinning and spinning connecting dots and that my friends is a success on itself because I'm bored to tears with predictable soap operas and movies. I love it when someone is still able to shock and surprise me (for better or for worse). I've come to a point where I celebrate an unexpected twist, whether I actually like it or not.
But enough about me, let me hear your feelings on BOMB, the actors, your own theories... let's get the debate going!

Happy 6th year wedding anniversary to Cait and Tony, today August 10, 2025. They have also been together for 11 years. ❤️💍👰🏻🤵🏻🥂
Thanks for the message, Anon. 😃 Yesterday was the first time I missed acknowledging their anniversary on its day. Real Life sometimes has inconvenient timing. I appreciate your reminder.

PREACH SISTA!!!
BOMB already being bombed?
What’s everyone worried about?
What’s all this fixation on “no chemistry” among the actors? The show hasn’t even aired yet!
Are they afraid of ginger god’s throne being usurped? Don’t tell me there was no fan service hip humping on the red carpet? That’s the barometer being used to determine the possible success…or to them…failure of the show?
Watch it, or don’t. But let’s not act like this isn’t all about trying to keep the fantasy ship afloat. There ARE other love stories that can be interesting
Enjoying BOMB is not a traitorous act against DG, if you’re a fan… which I am not. I can enjoy writing without liking the author. Michael Crichton was a narcissist too. Didn’t stop me from reading many of his books.
And if I may just mention The Godfather Part II? To many critics, it’s considered even better than the original and most of that story was manufactured on the heels of the original.
Don’t come after me. I’m not saying BOMB will be as good as OL, but can’t we just enjoy it for what it is? An extension of the story we all fell in love with.
I’ll be watching with Hubs.

Nice cast!!! On the other hand, playing the "mom" role rather than the main love interest makes me utterly aware of how time flies for all of us.
Kind of "oh wow" and then "oh fuck" moment.
Good news has arrived for Jane Austen fans. The author’s classic novel, Sense and Sensibility, is returning to the big screen. (The book was previously made into the Oscar-winning 1995 film starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet.) Here’s everything we know about the remake.
Tumblr media
Sense and Sensibility follows the three Dashwood sisters and their mother, now a widow, in 18th-century England. The family is forced to leave their lavish Sussex family estate and move in with a distant relative who lives in a quaint cottage. There, the two eldest sisters, Elinor and Marianne, begin contrasting journeys of love and loss.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ELLE’s April 2025 cover star Daisy Edgar-Jones is set to lead the film. She’ll play Elinor Dashwood, the eldest sister of the three siblings.
In her cover story, Edgar-Jones spoke about the importance of playing layered characters. “It’s great that more and more stories are being made with women front and center,” she said. “It’s also an interesting thing, being a woman in your 20s, wanting to find characters who are not always ingenues. You want to find characters with agency. I want every character I play to be complicated and deep and have layers to them, because that’s what it is to be human. I feel lucky that a lot of the characters I’ve played have had that. They aren’t defined by their actions or their experiences, or by the men in their life.”
Edgar-Jones celebrated the Sense and Sensibility news on Instagram in a photo posted today that shows her holding the book. She wrote a simple caption, “👀.”
Tumblr media
On July 11, Deadline reported that Esmé Creed-Miles has been cast as Marianne Dashwood, Elinor’s emotional and impulsive sister. Miles shared an Instagram post celebrating the big news with shots of the book and her script side-by-side with Edgar Jones’s.
Tumblr media
Today the rest of the cast is announced:
Tumblr media
welcome Caitríona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood, Frank Dillane as John Willoughby, George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Herbert Nordrum as Colonel Brandon, Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Margaret Dashwood, and Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings to the cast of Sense and Sensibility, directed by Georgia Oakley. (from focus features instagram)
Tumblr media
The Sense and Sensibility remake will be brought to you by Focus Features and Working Title Films. Georgia Oakley (Blue Jean) will direct, and the bestselling author Diana Reid (Love & Virtue) will write the screenplay.
Tumblr media
According to Reid, filming begins next month.
Tumblr media
Not yet, though according to Focus Features, “it’s coming soon.”
