when it comes to the actual relationship, he has an idea on how romance works, but he hasn't gotten much actual soulful relationship experience and can be a bit unconventional at first- not cruel or anything, but almost awkward in a sense ?

Black Sapphire would not want to screw this up. your genuinely very important to him and, even though he doesn't like to admit it, he does care for you- he just can't express it very well. one thing that he does have going for him is his charm, so he'd try to be very superficial and flirtatious in the beginning of the relationship. however, if you see through his facade, while at first i think he'd be caught off guard, i do think that he would in turn start to (try to) be more genuine

The more I think about it, Midori was kinda an idiot and not even because the players fooled him during the banquet. Midori likes to act powerful and like he's always the one in control, but then you remember his job description is 90% just:

I mean, if nothing else, they at least trusted him to go and get all the participants to sign a consent form, which, from what we know, was a pretty important task, but aside from that, ASUNARO really just told him

Like, at least the other floor masters, Miley and Gashu weren't just flat out told to die (Gashu just sorta decided to, anyways). It really makes you wonder how ASUNARO viewed Midori. From what we know, he was originally intended to be a participant himself until he "died", which just further implies that ASUNARO was itching to get rid of him. Who replaced him, if anyone (ASUNARO could have planned for 21 participants, counting Midori, or they replaced him with Kai), is unclear, but if Kai was meant to serve as a substitute for him as ASUNARO's traitor within the participants, and knowing how Kai was considered a non-candidate who wasn't meant to win (and we all know what happens to losers in the death game), it all just heavily supports the idea that ASUNARO wanted nothing more than to kill him off.

If you were working for a company that wanted nothing more than to put you in situations where you were all but guaranteed to die, you wouldn't want to work there anymore, would you? But Midori does. That plus his overwhelming fear of death, makes him look like a really big idiot, and to be honest, I think he may really be one. Sure, he's smart in a lot of ways, being skilled at manipulation and pressing people's buttons, not to mention reprogramming Maple forget her original purpose is to kill him, but he also just couldn't see that his boss clearly had it out for him.

So if they hate him so much, why even hire him? I believe, that in Kai's mini-episode, a silhouetted figure appears whose hair resembles Midori's. This has led many to believe she is Midori's mother (which might explain why he's so screwed up, if he was raised in ASUNARO). If his mom already worked there, and probably outranked Gashu, that could have influenced ASUNARO's decision when it came to employing Midori.

AKA Midori is a nepo-baby.

ASUNARO hired him even though they didn't want to and either his mom didn't actually care that much about him (otherwise she might have objected to the killing of her son) or has retired or died and then ASUNARO had an employee who they don't want nor need. In other words Midori's relationship with his employers is more like

As the only floor master whose death is actively sought out by ASUNARO, Midori might actually be pretty low down on the totem pole, I'd say below the other two floor masters, but just above Ranger and Safalin who aren't really floor masters. Midori clearly doesn't understand that ASUNARO would 100% let him die, seeing as how he pleaded to Meister right before he died. At the end of the day, to them he's just a problem child they can finally do away with. The experiments ASUNARO let him do on other people "until they broke or he got bored" were probably just ASUNARO keeping him entertained to shut him up for a while, more or less treating him like a literal kid.

The more I think about it, ASUNARO clearly values Midori especially little, and it's honestly a little funny to think about. Him and his experiments really just make him the death game equivalent of a tablet kid.

So I'll just get Orpheus out of the way first; as Novelist and Nightmare had release dates very close to each other, I like to think that he has always had both forms in the eternal manor, and thus didn't really have any learning curves where he had to adapt to another faction. He was the first identity switch character and kinda adjusted to both at the same time with his new living situation.

Luchino and Joker I feel like had a similar experience becoming survivors after being hunters for so long, but handled it differently. So characters with identity switches are often described with the id/ego model, where one side acts on impulse and pleasure, and the other on morals and rationality. Hunters seem to represent the id, and survivors the ego for these guys.

So imagine someone who has been a hunter for a long time suddenly snapping out of this impulsive, freeing mindset when being reminded of their morals and values. I imagine it as a "waking up from a long nightmare" kinda ordeal. They weren't hunters before entering the eternal manor, but were twisted and forced into such roles upon entering for whatever reason. I can see turning into their survivor mindset after so long in chaos as sorta cathartic. But also an emotional roller-coaster. The denial of their new vulnerable position as survivors. Getting used to their old bodies again. The sinking realisation and regrets of everything they have done while being "free" that has gone against their morals and values. Navigating the jungle of gaining trust from the other survivors as well as learning or relearning how to work in teams.

I can see Luchino would approach it as a bit of an experiment. An opportunity to explore his new position with curiosity and fascination and learn from it. He'd probably handle it the best out of everyone tbh. Joker would need a lot more time to adjust to the changes. Perhaps he'd have a long period of being reticent and depressed. In denial while he comes to term with his predicament.

I have gotten a few asks about Luchino's and Joker's identity switches that have given me a few ideas that I intend to draw some day.

This ask came before the announcement of Hullabaloo, but I'll say a few words about him regardless. It's probably similar to Norton as it is a situation of a long term survivor turning into a hunter. But I feel like Mike would have a harder time with it. In Fool's Gold's case, it was gaining the freedom to express all his pent up emotions. He is happy and relieved, albeit on a surface level. Hullabaloo seems like an empty husk, tormented by the pain from a life that imploded. All those negative emotions coming back to him in the eternal manor and twisting him into this wraith-like shape. Perhaps as a hunter he doesn't really realise what he is doing when in a game? In his hunter mindset, he is only focused on bringing justice to his tragedy and doesn't care who it affects. Snapping out of it after a game would be... interesting nonetheless.

Furthermore, Mike was probably more liked by the other survivors than Norton. And he was super popular and loved at the circus. So seeing everyone being suddenly on edge and distrusting of him (maybe even hated) would hit him hard. Whereas Norton was kinda used to people not liking or caring about him.

On a more comedic note, I can definitely see Mike forgetting his dual roles at the manor from time to time. At least the other survivors have learned to play along after all the shenanigans with Fool's Gold.

Now to Alice... so technically in-game, Alice is Memory and vice versa. She is considered an identity switch character. However, I see them as two different entities. My reason for this is that the other identity switch characters have one thing in common; no matter what faction or form they take, they are the same person with the same names. Fool's Gold is Prospector, and he is Norton Campbell. Evil Reptilian is Professor, and he is Luchino Diruse and so on. One represents the ego, while the other represents the id. How others perceive them under the influence of the drugs happens to be the form the id takes. Memory is straight up a hallucination conjured up by Orpheus. She shows up when Orpheus as a detective is alone, so she is not there in place of Alice. Furthermore, Little Girl's name is Memory, not Alice; maybe because she is a memory from Orpheus' psyche. Then there is the whole can of worms of whether Memory is human or not cause she can teleport and sync with other survivors in-game, but I don't know if I can use that as an argument when there are flying lizard-men and humanoid rock piles gfshgfjskd

Though I'll say some of this could change with AoM3. Perhaps the little girl will be how Orpheus sees Alice during this event. But it would be a little odd if that is how he perceives Alice under the influence of the fear drugs, cause Memory is not some scary monster; she is the representation of the past Orpheus is longing for. And perhaps there is another reason for why she goes by a different name than Alice. Furthermore, I feel like we don't know enough about Alice or Memory to pinpoint if Memory really is a part of Alice in the id/ego model, or if she is just an ideal version of Alice in Orpheus' mind. But as things stand now, I'm seeing them as two different entities. In the Eternal Manor AU, Orpheus' imagination is apparently so strong that it has conjured up a whole person.

So yeah... that's the best I can explain my thoughts on this.

I think I'll always be creating and storytelling in some form or fashion. This isn't just a hobby, it's my career. There's no plan B. I have no other skills, job experience, etc. so I'm in it for the long haul.

I have other interests and aspirations that are adjacent to what I'm doing now, like writing a book, but that's not an insignificant mountain to climb while I'm already tackling big projects.

I'd love to write for a game, podcast, graphic novel, or anything along those lines. Writing for games was the very first dream I ever had, it was my childhood aspiration after playing Final Fantasy VII. It didn't occur to me that it wouldn't be that easy. I sorta wound up this close to the mark on accident, so it would be funny to actually accomplish that for little YV one day.

The biggest hurdle with all of that is that the best way to make it happen is to go and build and create it myself. But I'm already at capacity for what I can manage.

The good news is, I am already in love with what I'm doing. I do not feel unfulfilled, or like I'm wasting my efforts. I'm kicking a lot of ass.

One day, the right doors will open for more. I'll make the right connection, the right people will find me, and opportunities will arise. The best way I can ensure that happens is to keep following my passion and refining my abilities.

As for impact, I hope that I've inspired people to find their voice creatively. To not try and follow the beaten paths and find new ways to create and share their own stories. To do it for the love of the game and not because you might make money, or be a part of a community. Those things come when you're in it for the right reasons. And to love harder, find forgiveness where it's worth giving, and burn the bridges that are holding you back. And to be yourself, unapologetically. To advocate for yourself and your perspective and your value.

Hi fellow netizen! I'm sure the mainland would like to read the comics but that really opens up a can of worms that I'm not prepared to deal with yet, so for now I'll refrain from translating the comics.

1: Tommy has the happiest life compared to the rest of the main cast I wouldn't worry too much about him lol

2: mm it's much more complicated, I also think my audience expects a political opinion from me. It ties to my own experiences with asian culture in general. I am very critical, but I think the public expectation to what I'm critical of is kinda skewed at the moment. There's so much nuance to this story I hope people have a healthy discussion over the conclusion of Zoey's arc in the future.

3: Yellow, Blue and Red are the key colours. What they represent is up to your own interpretation. To me yellow is the self/your values, blue is career/ambition, and red is religion/community/family. There's more colours down the road but these are the most important ones. If there's going to be discussions over the story please feel free to create those spaces! I haven't done so because I am the main writer and I would like these things to happen naturally in the future. It feels wrong for me to create a space as someone with complete authority over the story.

There's this post I saw recently that went that the crew on Voyager shouldn't have been wearing Starfleet uniforms towards the end. My response to that is...well, no, they should have been wearing the uniform all the way through, actually.

Part of what makes Janeway an interesting character is that she is a true believer in Starfleet's values put in a situation where they can't always be applied perfectly. A lot can be said about whether or not Voyager portrays this effectively, and a lot already has been, but that is part of the set up of her character. Even late in the series, episodes like the Equinox two-parter wouldn't have gone down the same way otherwise.

Janeway requiring the crew wear the uniform all the way through is a testament to that. For a character like this, the uniform would have represented the ideals she wanted the crew to aspire to.

Early on, it probably also would have been a way to instill a group identity in a crew that didn't necessarily have one. While Voyager didn't ever do as much with the Starfleet-Marquis conflict as it could have, that was a thing for the first season or so. I think Janeway would have seen the uniform requirement as a way of reminding the crew that regardless of whether they'd always been on Voyager or if they'd originally come from the Val Jean, they were all in this together for the foreseeable future.

This carries over to who was required to wear the uniform and who wasn't. Civilians like Neelix, Kes, and Seven of Nine never had a uniform requirement, and realistically they probably wouldn't have in the Alpha Quadrant, either. Crew members who likely would have sided one way or the other if a Worst Case Scenario-esque mutiny broke out had to wear it.

Whether or not using the uniform as a tool to instill group identity was a good idea or not might be debatable, but this is likely how someone like Janeway would have seen it.

As I mentioned earlier, she also would have seen it as a reminder of the ideals she was expecting her crew to live up to. She didn't always live up to those ideals perfectly herself, but there is evidence to suggest it weighed heavily on her when she didn't. For example, in Flesh and Blood, she said that she regretted giving the Hirogen access to holographic technology at the end of The Killing Game.

If she saw the uniform as a symbol of everything Starfleet was meant to stand for, it would also help explain why she took what was happening on the Equinox so personally, to the point she was particularly brutal in that two parter. To her, once you crossed that line, you'd lost the right to wear the uniform and she may not have thought there was a way around that.

Both of these points mean that I don't think that there's any way Janeway would have tolerated the crew becoming lax on uniform requirements. It's just not what she was about. I just don't see how she would have stepped away from that requirement without a complete rewrite of what Janeway personally valued.

I know the counterpoint to all of this is to ask how any of this makes her different to Picard, but that's sorta part of the point. She was a true believer like Picard was. Putting someone like that who didn't necessarily have the same command experience he did--don't forget Voyager was likely Janeway's first command--is what made her different, and it's what made her interesting.

If there was going to be a thing about Janeway becoming laxer about the uniform, then it should have been in Night. The set up for that episode included the crew's discipline slipping, so having some people not be in uniform would have been a visual accentuation of that.

I think an argument could be made that the fact they didn't switch over to the grey-shouldered uniforms later on when they were back in contact with Starfleet could be a compromise position, too. By that point, Janeway's desire for the crew to have a group identity had been satisfied, so the older uniform or the updated Dominion War one wouldn't have made a huge difference on this front, and it would have taken up replicator power that could have been used on other things. While it was still a uniform, it wasn't the current one.

Overall, I just don't think losing the uniform made sense for Voyager. There's a lot of criticisms to be made of the show and how it should have focused on this aspect rather than this other one, but I don't think this is it. They still could have done a lot with what happens to a crew if they're cut off from home without losing the uniform.

I think what this idea also forgets is that a deep space Starfleet mission could last a while. The Enterprise missed the Klingon War of 2256-7 specifically because it'd been on a five-year mission, and at the start of The Undiscovered Country, the Excelsior was coming back from a three-year mission.

By the TNG/VOY/DS9 era, this had only become more pronounced. In canon, there's explicit mentions of eight year missions. In some of the expanded material, ships like the Galaxy-class are capable of going on twenty-year missions.

I just don't see how you can reconcile an organisation capable of that kind of long deep space mission with having a ship that just stops wearing the uniform the moment there's no admirals around to do snap inspections. Janeway would have been adamant about the uniform thing even if other captains wouldn't have been.

How do you write such dark content? Like what's your thought process for it. Do you ever think of giving reader a good ending or is it usually just give reader the most unhappy experience.

I know some people have said they would kill themselves after til the water boils but like part one ending didn't seem that bad? Just humiliating. Part two is definitely worse, but I wouldn't say suicide level. I'm sure reader is still getting three meals a day, fawned over after they endured their punishment, and possibly make it back to their happy princess lifestyle after a few months to years. (Also, what was the worst punishment that Satoru had to convince Suguru not to do?? I'm genuinely curious because Geto still loves reader obviously so I don't think he'd do permanent damage)

hmmm what a question,,, i genuinely do not think there's any universe wherein i wouldn't be writing x reader fanfiction on tumblr dot com, but due to personal factors like my love of horror and my personal lack of interest in traditional romance, i think dead dove stuff is just naturally more appealing to me? it's fun to take the characters i'd be thinking about anyway and nudge them a little further towards their breaking points, and writing is such a clinical activity that i find it, in most cases, to be less emotionally impactful than reading a fic with similar content would be. i can give nanami a foot fetish and forget about next week, it's you people who have to live with the Implications.

as for the reader,,, i think happy endings just aren't what i'm going for? i wouldn't say i've never written one, but i just think there's a lot more elasticity to an unhappy ending than one that leaves the reader in a place they can just sorta chill in forever, and something i really value in a fic is the ability for readers to just. ponder it for a bit longer than they usually would. also all of my happy endings involve the reader-insert rapidly gravitating towards the nearest woman and falling in lesbian, lesbian love, which can get pretty repetitive pretty quickly. best to space them out and piles on the suffering, in the meantime.

Megatron

Don't even bother having him try to cook you something, he can't cook at all. More often than not he'll just send some vehicon off to fetch you a meal, but when he's actually put in a kitchen and told to cook a meal, he'll probably serve you a plate of charred... Stuff.

It reeks and honestly you can't even tell what it used to be. The most he knows about cooking is that humans always heat up their food. He doesn't know how cooked a piece of meat or a slice of bread has to be, and despite knowing how useful patience is, he can't bring himself to wait a couple minutes for a slice of bread to turn golden brown.

Even with some instructions he doesn't understand a single word on that page. What does "fold in the cheese" even mean?! All in all, the food tastes awful, the presentation is awful, and it's not even a nice experience, he somewhat cleans his mess, but still, it's an awful experience. Even your local fast food restaurant would serve something better than what he could make you.

Shockwave

He wouldn't be too bad at cooking... However the meal he's served you is most likely made from some artificial substitute... It's not bad, per say, and it has a higher nutritional value than everything in your kitchen combined, but... He didn't stand in a kitchen to make it, he stood in a lab and fabricated it. That aside, it's plain and has a bit of a weird taste, the presentation sucks, and it's not naturally made, it was fabricated in a laboratory. It counts as science. Not cooking. So nevermind, he'd be bad at cooking.

But if he were to cook, he'd get into the technicalities of all, and spout food science facts at you. He'd tell you all about how proteins in meat force out moisture through coagulation, and that's how meat cooks. Or how amino acids and simple sugars are rearranged to change the color of meat as it cooks. Unless you know about food science yourself, all it may sound like some scientific garble to you. Whether you implore him to continue or not is all up to you.

But just because he knows about the chemical composition of a cracker doesn't mean he knows how to make things taste good. He chooses things based on their nutritional value, not their taste. Everything from meal portions, to seasonings, to even the temperature it was cooked at is all carefully measured to ensure that you're getting your healthy fill of nutrients. He doesn't even allow you to season it afterwards, because any more seasoning would disturb the healthy balance.

Still, while it may be nutritious, it certainly isn't delicious, but at least it's 100% edible and extremely healthy.

Starscream

He didn't know humans cooked their food, he thought they just ate it as is. So you'll have to explain a lot of stuff to him before either of you actually get anywhere. But once he gets the basics down, he'll be off to a rough, yet good start!

He's very particular about the way things are organized in a kitchen, and he'll get real annoyed if you moved something like a spatula or a spoon he was using. He's sorta set up this organization system in the kitchen that works specifically for him and no one else. While it may look like a mess on the outside, it works really well for him.

He'd never touch raw meat, even if it were to cook for you. He just hates the feeling, so you'd basically have no luck at getting him to scrub a chicken down with salt and seasoning unless you gave him a pair of gloves or a brush. But even if he's a bit squeamish, he's very thorough with his work, and very patient too. But he does complain about how long it takes for things to prepare things and then cook.

Might be a bit burnt here, and a bit bland over there, but if you pick some parts out and sprinkle some salt, pepper, spice, or hot sauce on it, it makes for a solid-ish meal! Which is pretty impressive, given the fact he once knew nothing about cooking a few hours ago.

Soundwave

They're actually a really good chef, better than everyone else, that's for sure. Soundwave knows where and how to learn what he needs to know, so it wouldn't take long for him to research and grasp the bare bones of cooking. And after a couple of tries, they could definitely whip you up a 5 star meal that tastes like something the best chef in the world would make.

It's almost scary how fast he learns, but hey at least you're getting like one of the best meals in the world using cheap ingredients from your fridge. Like who knew ketchup could taste so good in place of fancy marinara sauce!

And because of the amazing meal he made, it's without a doubt that he is the undisputed best chef aboard the Nemesis and everybody else's skills immediately pale in comparison. If it were a competition, it would've been over the moment they joined.

Dreadwing

Like almost everyone on this list, he has no idea what to do, and he has no idea what humans eat, so it ends up being a bit of a lecture before he actually starts cooking. It might take him a bit, and he'll stumble here and there, but he's always quick to ask good questions to ensure he has a solid grasp on what he needs to do.

He's quick to pick up anything you teach him, like about cutting vegetables, or seasoning meals, temperature, et cetera. And in a while, he's able to follow a recipe rather well, only occasionally coming to you to ask a question about what "folding" or "basting" or "al dente" means.

He'd serve you a pretty solid meal all in all. But on the off-chance that what he made for you had caused you to get sick, he'd immediately and sincerely apologize to you, and most likely never make you a meal ever again.

Knockout

He has some knowledge around human cooking thanks to the internet, and it helps the slightest bit, but for the most part he'll be bugging you with all his questions about human cuisine and cooking.

And all the while he's cooking, he'll ask you to fetch him things like that kitchen knife over there, or that measuring cup—no, not that one. That one was used for wet ingredients, he needs the other one that was used for dry ingredients, now chop chop. The clock's ticking. Or he'll holler at you to come and help hold the bowl as he scrapes the mixture into another pan.

Surprisingly, the kitchen actually remains rather nice and orderly throughout it all. He fills your sink with water and just leaves the dirty dishes in there to soak, and cleans messes the instant they're made, which greatly helps with clean-up afterward! But he won't touch the dishes. He just hates the feeling of scrubbing grimy food off, so you're on your own unless you give him a pair of gloves.

But as for the food itself? It's... Semi-decent! He may have burned it a little, or messed up one of the steps, but it still tastes good and it's still edible. He even decorates it nicely! He'd chop any vegetables into cute little shapes, and he has a good eye for presentation. So it's pretty nice.

Breakdown

He doesn't know anything about human cooking. He does question where the heck human food comes from though, and the most he knows is that humans consume other organisms, which he finds really weird. So in the beginning, the whole cooking session might be more of an educational session than anything, but only so he understands what humans can eat and what he should be doing.

He technically doesn't do any cooking since he just makes you things like instant noodles or instant mac n' cheese. But he'll need a bit of supervising because with the noodles, he'll put the seasoning packet in the water while the noodles are cooking, and then drain the noodles because he thought that the noodles would absorb the flavor (same goes for the mac n' cheese), but it turns out that the cheese water just goes down the drain. So it technically isn't completely his fault that the food may taste off (because instant food doesn't always taste that good...) but he does mess some of the steps up which contributes to that.

But with a little guidance here, and a little trial and error there, he'll actually be able to whip up something pretty decent using the instant stuff as a base! He'll add things like chopped up vegetables or spice for some flavor in some instant ramen, or cook the macaroni in milk and add some mustard for mac n' cheese, or perhaps crack an egg and add some garlic into some insta-soup.

All in all, it's a pretty solid meal for his first time cooking. But does it really technically count as cooking if he used an already pre-made thing to make it?

Airachnid

If she didn't care about you as much as she does, she would've fed you something poisonous if she didn't ignore your request first. She's... A questionable cook... To say the least, but one thing's for sure, all the meat she uses in her cooking is fresh. And I mean fresh as in "she dragged that animal into the kitchen and slaughtered it on the spot" kind of fresh, which is ideal if you're eating something that requires super fresh meat like oysters.

She doesn't burn the food, but she most likely under-cooks it. As for seasoning, well, she doesn't add any, so whatever you're eating will need a whole lot of salt, pepper, and spices either to taste like something, or to distract from the horrible taste the food already has.

But while the food may taste weird, the presentation's interesting. It's something of an art, made from something you don't even think you can call "food" anymore, but it's interesting to look at.

All in all, the food tastes horrible, the presentation's neat, and you're 100% guaranteed to get food poisoning if you scarf the entire meal down (which you won't, the stench is bad enough to kill even flies).

Predaking

He can't cook at all—actually, he doesn't even know what humans eat, so you'll have to explain to him quite a lot. Even then, he'll probably just bring you a dead animal and assume that's enough. You'll actually have to lecture him on cooking meat, preparing ingredients, and whatnot. So this whole thing turns into a cooking lesson as opposed to doing actual cooking.

He soaks all that knowledge up like a sponge, and with his newfound knowledge of cooking he's able to make something relatively decent for you, if not leaning more towards mediocre! The meal is something simple, probably from a cookbook you have at your house (or on the internet...)

All in all, while it's below average, it's probably above-par by your standards, given the fact you just taught him how to cook a hot second ago. The presentation is simple, the food actually tastes good, so all in all it's a pretty average meal.

Darksteel

Surprise, surprise! He is the worst cook out of them all. And here you might have thought that Predaking or Airachnid would've been the worst, but nope. It's him. He'd most likely burn your kitchen down, if not trash everything you have, and waste everything you have in your fridge. The best he does is bring you a dead animal that he "cooked" by spewing fire at it. Then again it's most likely either overcooked or undercooked and would definitely give you trichinellosis, E. coli, BSE, salmonella, or whatever other horrible disease you risk contracting by eating what he's served you.

But what about vegetables? He doesn't even know what a vegetable is, and unless you give him a really thorough description of what counts as a vegetable or not, he'd most likely just uproot a tree or pluck a bush out from the ground and give it to you, mildly scorched, because he remembered that you have to cook it.

If you were to ask him about presentation, he'd probably pose the scorched cattle or chicken he got his claws on, set the crisp "vegetables" upright, and think that's good enough "presentation".

Bottom line? Do not eat anything he gives you, it'll absolutely destroy your stomach.

Skylynx

Yeah he doesn't want to. He'd hate cooking so much because everything takes so long to do! He's sensible enough to do some research and learn, or ask you questions for clarification, but waiting for water to boil just drives him crazy.

He tries to work diligently and be patient, but you might catch him cutting corners a little bit. How so? Well, he'd raise the temperature of the stove to get something to cook faster, or if he needs to carefully ground something into a poultice, he'll just smush it into paste. If you're having something simple like mashed potatoes, then he has absolutely no problem preparing that.

He doesn't pay much attention to how it looks, so while the food he serves looks unappetizing as he straight up slaps it onto your plate, it actually tastes pretty decent... Ish... Decent-ish. Sure your food may have come out a bit burnt, or you might find some weird chunks in it, but it's better than what Darksteel has to offer, that's for sure.

abdjjdsjndbf honestly thank you for asking im kinda flattered hahaha. i have some vague lore about her relationship to boothill but it's been slowly taking shape. a while before boothill was teased i had actually started work on what's basically a trailblaze mission concept on a new planet. it's called Aloniir, and it's a desert planet, but i personally think that the trope of desert planets being barren, miserable hellscapes is overplayed, so it's actually quite rich with life. i have a whole document with details but ill spare you from most of it (unless you're somehow interested lol). i have a whole food chain planned and everything, it's kind of absurd bsbdbdnejabsbb

anyway i have a huge Thing about characters that experience monstrous transformations so that's the gimmick for all the characters from this planet. im still kind of on the fence about the exact details but the idea is that the planet went through a period of disaster eons ago, but via some kind of elation influence (direct influence from the aeon or from a stellaron, im not sure yet) they had a sort of insane rng element added to their genetics which allowed them to survive the harsh conditions with their various adaptations. they all have crazy unique powers and stuff. i have some ocs in the works but that would be in another post if anybody is interested lol

the current plotline im going with for my s/i is technically an au of the original concept for the world where the ipc yoinks them all up for Human Experimentation Purposes to learn how to utilize their biology for potential gains. (i have one character that's functionally immortal because she heals so quickly for example, which would obviously be of great value to them.)

boothill finds my s/i in a test tube on an ipc ship that he's raiding and realizes that she's probably a prisoner. he lets her out and she realizes that she.. kinda sorta has nowhere to go - no connections, no purpose, no real goals other than freeing the rest of her people; she can't go back home because of the ipc occupation, and she'd just get snatched right back up anyway. so she helps boothill escape, contemplating all the while, and it all culminates into the two of them being forced to jump off the ship to escape "by the wing," so to speak.

after they land, she asks if she can accompany him for a while, just to get her feet on the ground. he's hesitant, naturally, but he figures it can't hurt if it's just for a little while. turns out that they work very, very well together, and it's nice to have someone to bail him out if he bites off a bit more than he'd like to chew on his own. tale as old as time lol.

power-wise her abilities are sorta still nebulous in my head rn.. she has a regular fleshy dragon form and the skeletonized one from the original art. her skin burns up in the transition (think the animation after dragons die in skyrim) bc i think the mental image is cool as hell. i wanna give her some kinda additional abilities but i havent come up with anything yet !! heres some messy stuff for you

When you and Zoro first got together, it was a surprise for everyone.

Sure, you had a crush on him since the moment you joined the crew and you have always been open about your feelings, but nobody expected for Zoro to return them back... at least not so soon.

Zoro has always been quiet and stoic man, who valued discipline, strength and peace. He is always trying his best to stay out of trouble, despite this being a nearly impossible mission with having Luffy as captain.

You, on the other hand, are loud, energetic and always causing chaos. Your curiosity and unfiltered mouth often get you in dangerous situations, from which the swordman has to get you out of.

Despite finding your reckless behaviour annoying at first, it did became the reason he fell for you. Maybe because it felt good to be your knight in shining armour who was always there to save the day or maybe because following you in your adventures made him feel as if he can see the world in a new light through your eyes... It was unclear how and why it happened, but when he fell in love, he fell hard.

Zoro is extremely protective. Maybe a little bit overbearing at times. He knows you have tendency to act before you think and your close friendship with Luffy, who was full of bad ideas, was just another reason why he always felt he had to keep an eye on you.

Despite this he is not big fan of PDA. He will stay close to you, maybe even touch your shoulder or back when no one is looking, but he won't be very affectionate, especially when they are people around.

That, of course, does not stop you from seeking to be close to him every chance you get. Jumping on his back, wrapping your arms around his neck, pepping his whole face with kisses, while he groans in annoyance, holding his hand - every time you are near him, you have to be touching him.

He likes to pretend he is irritated with your antics, but he secretly loves having you so close to him. That's why he also never pushes you away.

He is not a big sharer, but he is a good listener. He can listen to you talk for hours (which given your chatty personality is not a hard task). When you decide to ask him questions, though, expect one or two worded answers.

With that being said, you need to be patient with him. I imagine you would have some experience with love and previous relationship, but this is all new to him. Every emotion, every thought, every desire is new and he is still figuring it out how to deal with it all.

He does find comfort in the fact that you are very open and honest person. Whatever you think, you say without even processing it first. He finds this comforting, as he never has to wonder what you think or how you feel.

Your honesty does sometimes put him in uncomfortable positions though... "Damn, Zoro, you are looking so fine with these swords! I wonder if you want to show me the fourth sword in private later-" "Y/N, please, we are literally in the middle of a fight."

He does get easily embarrassed and you DO enjoy making him embarrassed. Either calling him cute nicknames or making flirty comments, you know the way to make this man's face redder than a tomato.

Despite your differences, this man would literally die for you. Everything with you is new to him and while it may sound cheesy, you do make him a better man. With you, he is exploring a softer, more gentler side, that he never even knew was there.

I absolutely LOVE the way you colour your work!! Would you be willing to show us how you do it/give any tips?

aww tysm!! it's kinda a newer style for me but i can give the rough overview haha

general tips:

-you've heard it a million times, but use references! this style specifically works best as an abstraction of preexisting colors + values, so you'll need a solid starting point to work off of

-keep colorpicking to a minimum (i personally keep my references on a separate device to stop the temptation). you'll never get better at choosing colors if you let the software do it for you all the time, and sussing out your colors manually will improve your color sense

-have a grayscale layer and full saturation layer handy to check your progress. if you can tell what youre looking at in grayscale and it looks sorta 3D, youre on the right track. a saturation filter is mostly a me-thing but i feel like it helps check for cohesion in the palette

-dont be precious. get real loosy-goosy with it; there'll be time to tidy up at the end when you're happy with colors, but for the meantime just zoom out and slap stuff down as you experiment. start big and narrow in from there, because theres a good chance youll change up big areas and undo detail work early on

here's an example that has nothing to do with starkid lol:

the more the merrier. the colors i used for my starkid pieces were based on screenshots i took from the proshot. references are your friends!!

i use a real scrungly brush called "Fine Brush (Sumi Ink)" in the dogwater app i use (MediBang Paint) that doesnt have great control and helps me loosen up

after i get the lineart down i pick a base color that matches the "tone" im going for (yellow here because it's got a light, happy/jovial vibe), and then get reallyyyyy rough colors by eyeballing my reference (no colorpicking!! go for colors that work relative to the base color). perfection is not the goal here, only a starting point to improve upon

these are pretty drab and uninspired, so at this point i like to analyze the colors i chose by temporarily boosting saturation 100%. after considering how not cohesive magenta, orange, and lime green are, i chose to hit this piece with a low-opacity orange burn layer to unify the palette warmer-ish and bump saturation. layer modes are your friend here, and there will always be one to make your colors more interesting

then i start amending the colors, trying to match the references' relative values and colors but staying w/i the color context ive established (not matching ref exactly, just going cooler/darker/whatever in a similar way but with my colors instead)

ill flip on grayscale constantly and work out self-described problem areas

it's a lot of push and pull until im happy, and after tugging around for a bit ill merge everything and do some global changes with overlay, saturation, burn and sometimes divide layers. i have no process with this besides trial and error tbh

ill have a detail layer overtop usually to fix stuff that i couldnt be bothered with in the lineart stage and thats kinda it? it's really hard to articulate my process 1) because it changes every time i draw and 2) im constantly improving at art and 3) im me and not you and what works for one might not the other

also. i feel like you were asking how i got the painterly look and not the value choices i made? but the truth is i use an angry, scratchy brush and it comes out looking somewhat painterly. so uh go nuts
