hihi! i was wondering if i could get a romantic letter from phoenix drop high gene? she/they pronouns please :)
and for the context of the letter, maybe Gene & Reader recently started dating but can’t text because Reader is away at an academic sleep away camp (preferably centered around literature/writing)? Reader is on the more academic/nerdy side and not officially part of the SK so them doing these kinds of programs is their usual summer thing but it’s the first time Gene and Reader have been away from eachother since they started dating
tysm <33
hihi!! thanks for sending this in, i think this prompt’s absolutely adorable!
unrelated but speaking of literature whenever i see gene now that i’m older i think of heathcliff (more of the name) or the phantom for some reason.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
your entire being perks up at the mention that a letter’s arrived, and your heart races as you go through who could have possibly sent it in your head. the moment you have it in your hands, you can almost tell exactly who it’s from. the envelope’s a dark gray, close enough to be black. there are stickers all over its back next to your name and address, same goes for the front. opening it, you catch a whiff of someone familiar’s cologne. that cheeky bastard.
you notice almost immediately that there’s not only a letter inside, but a bunch of printed photos and some unused stickers. after finding a spot to settle your new goodies upon, you get comfy and get to reading.
Tumblr media
Hey cutie. Miss me yet?
Heard a fair’s coming to town soon. I think it’ll still be there when you get back. There should even be fireworks on the last day. We can go there if you wanna.
Other than that, nothing much happened today. Dante was out, and I had the house to myself for a good portion of the afternoon. Without sugarcoating it, I was bored out of my mind.
It took me a while to figure out my texts or calls weren’t getting through to you. Mom must have seen how frustrated I was about it, so she shared some of her spare stationery with me as a last resort. She said something about wanting to hear about how your summer’s been doing so far.
That’s all the small talk I can handle for today. You might get too tired of staring at only words for too long over there, so you might want to check out the pics taken these past few days. The stickers are from Zenix and Sasha by the way, they also say hi.
Kidding aside, I know how much this whole camp thing means to you.  But I’ve been feeling weird ever since you left. It’s weirder knowing you’re not nearby. When you’re not a walk or a call away. Even though I know exactly how many days and many hours are left until you come back.
Sappy shit out the way, I decided to read that one book you lent me at random. I’m not sure you remember it much since you hurriedly gave it to me without a second thought, but it’s that really old one about the day before the world ends. All that apocalyptic and sad shit. Even though I didn’t get it, I guess it was nice that Vincent and Leticia got their happy ending. To be honest, the book overall didn’t stand out to me much, but the concept of having one day left to live sure did.
If I knew the world was going to end tomorrow I would
Y’know, maybe it’s for the best I save it for when we meet again in person, so you better come back home in one piece, yeah?
With an aching heart and hand, Your Gene, who misses you terribly
PS. I feel like you’ve been rubbing off on me recently, state-of-mind-wise. While it’s not that bad, it gives me the chills.
PPS. If not having you near me hasn't driven me insane yet, I definitely will go mad if this letter doesn't make it to you. Especially after all I've put my wrist through just for this. Maybe I should visit the post office a few more times?

Calling all Aphmau fans!
Hello!! I'm Pubba, and I've been a recurring fan of Aphmau for a long time. I watched her content as a kid almost every day, and I never really forgot about her.
Due to her recent announcement of S7 of Mystreet (YAY!!), I've recently been binging her entire series', starting with Phoenix Drop High- obviously. Anyways, I've been scrounging around for fics, and while the ones being written right now are absolutely amazing!! I need more, and if you want something done do it yourself right?
Just a fair warning + rules/boundaries below:
By no means do I consider myself to be a good writer, do keep that in mind! As well as the fact I am almost never consistent with posting, I could take a whole year before I were to post a fic! This is also a side account, so I do sometimes forget about it haha...
Rules/Boundaries (no specific order)
I will only be writing x Readers, as that is what I focus on
Smut requests are welcome, but no promises I will follow through with them: as not only am I not that good at it, but some of y'all are just too freaky for me
Absolutely NO pedophilia, incest, or anything of the sorts is welcome here
My requests will always be open, but again no promises I will do them
I will absolutely NOT be writing for Aaron, possibly platonic, but I do sort of hate his character
You can request for any series, but be warned I have never watched Minecraft Diaries and it'll be awhile until I do.
AU's are welcome
When requesting, I do prefer if you give me a specific plot to follow by- it gets a little annoying when your entire inbox is just "*blank* headcanons???"
I'm not good at angst, but I can write it
Hurt/comfort is my favorite...
LGBT+/Poly/etc. is absolutely welcome!
I am a Garroth x Laurance shipper btw 🫶

So I'm writing multiple Aphmau roleplay series fanfctions, originally it was just for My Inner Demons and some hints of Mystreet/Phoenix drop.
But than i decided to make a Phoenix Drop High prequel which inspired me to plan a Mystreet sequel which then inspired me to make a Diaries prequel prequel :3
I’m activity writing three of those with MID being on chapter 6, PDH was on chapter 5 but I’m rewriting all of it because I’m not happy with it and Diaries was on chapter 4 but I’m also rewriting all that.
So my question to you all is, who should be a love interest? Of course Ava, Asch, Rhys, Pierce, Leif and Noi are love interests in the MID book.
And I already have Ein planned in somewhere and maybe Zane because of the contrast MCD Zane and Y/Ns relationship could have to Mystreet.
Also Gene and Dante are not going to be love interests at all because they have more of a familial relationship.
But who else should be a Love interest, Guys and Girls
Sorry if this was long, also maybe Jeffory could be kinda like a secret crush in PHD because he looks after the detention kids and spoiler our MC got detention a lot :3
Also I need you to specify if the love interest your suggesting is for Mystreet, Phoenix drop or diaries, they would of course influence each other but specifics are good :)
And these might take a good long while because I'm only releasing a book once it’s completely done so i can manage a weekly upload schedule and I’m still in school🥲
I’m also planning to make a spotify playlist for maybe every book, MCD, PDH, MID and all Mystreet seasons (all will be individual books) except the first because we jump straight from MID to Love~Love Paradise

My Life at Phoenix Drop High 0
prologue
WARNING: CRUDE LANGUAGE! GENERALLY UNHINGED!
"Dad this place is disgusting. Why out of all houses that you decide to flip, it had to be this shithole?"
"It'll be fine honey." Your mom tries to reassure. "Shit." She swore in French as she tripped on a pothole in the yard.
"Don't swear in French mom."
"Don't talk back to your mother." She chastises, still speaking French to make a point.
"Then don't curse in other languages." You retort in Norwegian.
"Don't switch up languages on me young lady." She shouts in German. "Oh now there I go. Do you have any idea how infuriating you can be young lady?"
"How infuriating I can be?! Mom I only have like three friends in this town where as at West Pomi High I was the most popular girl in school."
"That's because you threw outlandish parties in middle school." Your dad walks up and gently interlocks his fingers with your mom's. "We love you but we're doing what's best for you. I don't want to hear any more complaints; it's not easy to pack up and move to a whole different region. And I don't want any more incidents like the spring dance." Your father whispers seriously, before walking in to the house.
You brush past your mom, muttering something about "tiefla deserving it" on your way past, and make your way to the second floor. The stairs rattle under your angry stomps and you settle into your room, the attic.
The floor is brown and washed out, the paint on the walls is chipping and you swear you can see a dead rat in the corner. The only good thing it has is this small corner that jutted out because of this big window. You go over and push the top part open to get some fresh air. On the sides looked like some kind or railing so you push out the bottom one as well and see it turns into a little makeshift balcony.
You catch your breath and smile slightly. It may be a hovel compared to your last home but it doesn't have to stay that way. After all a diamond is just a rock that needs pressure and time to be beautiful and valuable. Or at least that was your father's company motto.
You pull out your phone and lean against the glass of your new balcony. A year earlier you met two girls at a camp you'd visited when you were traveling with your dad for a business trip of his. Your mom was off traveling in the Gal'ruk region. They mentioned that they lived in Phoenix Drop so you might as well give them a call and see if they'd be able to drop by and help you decorate.
You: Sup nerds!
Laylani: Hey (Y/n)!
Dallie: *coughcarriecough*
You: Shut up Jackass!
Dallie: Pussy
You: I love you😚
Dallie: Ugh pookie 😳 Dallie: We have an audience! You can be saying that 🥰
Parsley: You whores need to get a room
You: Can't help it 😫 You: I love my dollie
Laylani: Okay, just because her name is a homophone doesn't mean you should flirt with my sister like that!
You: I'm only seeing the bottom half of that text. You: "flirt with my sister!"
Laylani: NO!
You: Anyway bitches! I have a surprise for you!
You send a photo of your new empty room.
You: My dad moved us to Phoenix Drop. Thanks to his real estate company we have 7 pounds of tarp and five pounds of (F/c) paint. You: If you guys wanted  you could come over and we could have a paint party. I could finally meat Parsley.
Parsley: Meet*Parsley: Unless you're trying to eat me.
You: Nah, I'm an Ally but I don't eat pu-
Dallie: aw 😞 jk Dallie: We'll be over soon!
Laylani: I'll bring over (s/f/c) and some stencils
Parsley: If I come I get to know about that Carrie comment 😑
You: Listen, I ask you hear me out before you judge
So you got what you needed set up and led the girls into your room. You guys get to work painting and telling Parsley about what the Carrie comment meant. "And that's why we had to move here."
"Wow. That's kinda of messed up. On her part I mean!" Parsley looks at you sadly.
"Yeah, you guys should have done more! If that bitch was harassing me for that long I would have done so much worse." Dallie chimes in.
"I think what you did wasn't right. But I'll stand by you as a friend and support you." Laylani gently scolds from the other side of the room.
"Kiss ass." Her twin Dallie teases.
"Whatever! I stand by my convictions." Laylani doubles down
"Hey if strawberry shortcake and my little pony taught us anything it's that "being a friend means telling you other friends hard truths they might not want to hear." Or something like that." You joke.
"Fair enough." Dallie smiles and goes back to painting.
Like the good friends they are they helped you unpack your clothes as the movers moved the bigger furniture.
"We will be having sleep overs here all the time I assume?" Dallie smiled, sitting next to you.
"Sure." You smiled casually, laying on your bed. Laylani was giving you silly hairstyles, your head on her lap.
"As long as I can bring something horror related." Parsley sat on the edge of your bed reading something on her phone.
"No body horror please." Laylani begged.
"Aw are you sensitive?" You giggled and hugged her, wrapping your arms around her neck. "You're such a softie."
"Ah! Hey!" She squeaks as she was caught off guard by the contact. The other girls laughed and after a while you all had dinner and they went home.
"Maybe things won't be so bad. At least there's a cute boy next door." You said as you looked out your balcony that night. "Yeah. Things will be fine."

𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐫. 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞.
“hey blaze, wanna go see something cool?” you ask suddenly, tilting your head and batting your eyelashes up at the tall werewolf.
he purses his lips, black ears twitching against his dark red curls. a suspicious hum leaves his lips for a moment as the rest of the group warily watches on.
“okay!” he goofily smiles, shrugging and following after you towards the house’s basement door.
“blaze… don’t fall for it.”
“but she’s such a trustworthy person!” he protests against the group’s warnings, beginning to follow you down the dim staircase.
you hold back a snort at his enthusiastic voice, wondering if he was playing up on his usual airheaded tendencies or if he really thought you weren’t going to kill him off from the game down here.
“the basement, definitely super romantic and cool and not suspicious at all!”
he definitely knew. you giggle as you make it to the end of the staircase, standing at the bottom as you awkwardly try to think of what you want to “show him” besides the plastic knife in your pocket.
“your laugh is usually cute, but when it’s so mischievous and in a dark basement it’s kind of creepy,” he shivers, backing up towards the stairs again. “actually… i just remembered i need to do something!”
“wait! you said i’m cute, right?” you snatch onto his flannel, dragging him back towards you—or rather dragging yourself towards his much heavier and unmoving body.
“yeah…”
“um… wanna… make out?”
“yeah!” he switches back to his himbo cheerfulness, very eagerly leaning down and pressing his lips against yours.
you indulge him for a moment, before your puckered lips spread into an evil smile and you’re pressing the plastic knife into his abs. a disappointed sigh leaves his lips as he dramatically sinks down to the floor to play dead.
“not cool, you’re gonna leave me in the spooky basement?” he pouts, his fluffy tail laying flat on the ground.
“you’ll be fine,” you giggle, pressing one last kiss to his forehead and happily skipping up the stairs to finish the round. “see you later!”
𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐞!
“where is everyone…?” you trail, feeling uneasy as you look for all of the friends you were separated from.
your search is interrupted when you hear footsteps rapidly approaching you across the grass of the backyard.
despite knowing this was a silly game with friends, turning to see a six foot three beast of a werewolf sprinting at you with a plastic knife in hand was still a terrifying visual. you couldn’t help the terrified yelp that left your lips as you sprinted away from him, knowing your efforts were futile.
you’re caught up to within barely a few seconds, strong arms nearly crushing you as he scoops you up. a squeal leaves your lips as you cling onto his shirt, feeling your feet leave the ground.
“wait! wait!” you screech, heart racing as you catch your breath.
“nuh-uh,” he laughs.
you groan when you feel the knife firmly placed against your back, limply dangling in blaze’s arms.
“caught you.”

your arms boldly slink around garroth’s shoulders as you lean onto him from behind where he sat, your face snuggling up to the side of his cheek.
automatically he tenses up, eyelids narrowing as his vision darts over to you from the side of his eye. he mutters your name suspiciously, but one of his hands comes up to softly grab onto one of your arms.
“hey, garroth,” you whisper into his ear, holding back the amused giggle that fights to escape your lips. “i was just wishing a tall, hot blonde guy would go into the closet to make out with me…”
garroth sighs, his ears turning a bright red where your breath ghosted along the skin.
“you said that last time, and i died.”
you can tell he’s trying to make his voice monotonous and unimpressed, but the amused intonation at the end of his sentence tells another story. your chest presses against his back, and the breathy, mischievous laughter that exhales from your lungs shakes the both of you.
“no, i’m for real this time!”
“oh yeah, that sounds perfect,” he sarcastically quips back. “i’ll go with the girl trying to seduce me into the closet with no witnesses.”
“garroth… would i ever betray you in such a way?”
“you just did a couple rounds ago.”
“yeahhh,” you drawl out, placing a kiss on his cheek as you quickly place the knife over his heart and press down. “sorry.”
he sighs, slumping forward on the table to play dead.
“so cruel and heartless,” he jokingly pouts, and you have to restrain yourself from placing another kiss on his jutted lower lip.
𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐞!
“garroth, i’m sorry. why don’t we hug it out?” you suggest, arms spread wide as you look up at the blonde expectantly.
he rolls his eyes, leaning down and tightly wrapping his arms around you. after a moment you pay his back, expecting to be let go, but realization hits you as it’s his turn to giggle at you.
the light rumbling of his laughter vibrates against you, before you feel the plastic knife pressing right up against the small of your back.
you groan, going limp in his arms and leaning your head back as you sigh in light hearted annoyance.
“wowwww, okay.”
he continues to laugh, leaning over and letting you slink down to the floor before gently letting you rest on the ground.
“sorry,” he smiles, looking the least bit sorry before leaning down and placing a kiss against your lips.
“i’m so gonna haunt you.”
“i wouldn’t mind a pretty ghost following me around,” he smiles back, before getting back up and running off to finish his job.

𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐫. 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞.
“gene, wanna go make out?” you casually ask, smiling at the older boy cheekily and attempting to ignore the attractive look he stares back at you with.
his head falls back and he rolls his eyes, smirk plastered on his lips as he sighs in contemplation from where he sat.
“see, how am i supposed to refuse when you ask like that, though?”
“like what?” you tilt your head innocently, lacing your hands behind your back.
he pointedly stares at you through hooded eyes, before stretching up from his seat and shoving his hands in his pockets.
“alright, where are we going to make out?”
you shrug and guide him out of the house, passing a few people as you go.
“where are you two going?”
“to make out, apparently.”
“don’t tell me you’re falling for that.”
“it’ll be fine,” gene drawls, waving his hand as the two of you exit the house. “i have a feeling on how this is gonna end, but i’ll take my chances.”
“well, whoever’s the cop—be ready when she comes back alone,” you hear someone say as the door shuts behind you.
you only take a few steps before turning around, pointing the knife at him with a small innocent smile on your face.
“damn, not even gonna give me a small chance at a kiss before you kill me?”
“so sorry,” you apologize emptily, the cheeky smile on your lips leaving when he leans forward into the knife, grabbing your face and devouring your lips for a moment with his own.
you blink at him in shock as he pretends to cough in pain, keeping forward into the ground and rolling onto his back to play dead.
“it’s alright, you will be later,” he smirks back, laying flat on the ground and staring up at the stars.
𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 𝐜𝐨𝐩. 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞!
finally! you found where your friends had been all round… only to see that they were all sprawled out on the floor, motionless. you take a cautious step into the room, slowly turning your head to the tall form standing in your peripheral.
you hear a few snickers from the ground as you and gene stare at each other, with your hands on your hips.
“well, it’s just us, huh?”
“yep.”
you don’t have enough time or a chance to pull out the gun, instead having to run away down the hall and through the back doors as he suddenly sprints after you.
“nooo! nonono, gene!” you call out, fumbling for the gun in your pocket as you run through the grass.
“why are you running?” he asks, the amused smile on his lips heard through his voice without even having to glance back. “don’t run from me.”
you point the gun back, shooting and missing the boy entirely, wasting your last bullet. one more stride and he catches up to you, knocking the gun out of your hand and restraining you against him with one arm in a single swoop.
“wait! don’t!” you frantically scramble as he presses the knife up against your chest. “i will… um!”
“mhmmm…” he tauntingly hums, letting you continue.
“…go out? …with you?”
you whine as he presses the knife down against your chest, slumping over as he hunches over and slowly lets you down to the ground. deep laughter leaves his lips as he looks down at your pout, hands on his knees in amusement.
“sorry, that’s not a good deal if you already do that, doll.”
Tumblr media
𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄
𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐫. 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞.
“laurance, follow me,” you tug on his shirt, backing up as you try to lure him out of the room.
“i’m not falling for that, silly girl,” he leans down towards you, smirk plastered on his face. “where’s everyone else you walked off with, then. hm?”
“falling for what?” you follow him as he starts backing away from you and towards the door. “i just love you so much. i wanna show you!”
“uh-huh, right,” he nods, before turning and taking off outside into the cool night air.
“laurance! wait, let me show you!” you laugh hysterically. “i wanna show you how much i love you!”
“get away!” he laughs, using his soccer skills to dodge and run away from you in the grass.
you manage to catch him, jumping onto his back and using the momentum to tackle the both of you down to the soft grass. your legs straddle his torso as you both catch your breath, chests panting for air.
“now it’s just us…” you trail, dragging your index finger across his lower lip.
you pull on it before leaning down and pressing a kiss to his lips, simultaneously plunging the fake knife against his chest.
“that was both terrifying and hot at the same time,” he breathes with a smug grin.
𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 𝐜𝐨𝐩. 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞!
“come on, you don’t trust me?” laurance tilts his head, pouting as you indecisively point your gun back and forth between him and katelyn—the rest of your friends laid out on the ground. “ouch, that hurts.”
katelyn stares at you with a deadpan expression. her and laurance have their arms raised in the air in surrender, leaving you as the one to make the game-settling decision.
“um…”
“don’t let him woo you, you’re better than this—“
“she went off with aphmau alone and now aphmau is dead!” laurance insists, leaning forward towards you. “it’s obviously her, be smart. you’re smart.”
“um… i’m sorry katelyn!” you apologize, sending a bullet out toward katelyn’s stomach.
she laughs with a groan as she sinks to the ground. you come to the realization that you, in fact, made the wrong decision when nobody else gets up, leaving you and laurance at a standstill.
“…i’m out of bullets.”
“you better run…” someone mutters with a snort on the ground.
strings of shouts and scared curses leave your lips as you take off down the hallway, searching for any bullets to use now that you’ve cornered yourself at one end of the house.
“oh no!” you yelp, socks sliding as you land against a wall, laurance’s hands trapping you in before you can scramble anywhere else.
“hey,” he jokingly bites his lip, staring at you with faux seduction.
you sigh dramatically. “just kill me.”
he giggles, stabbing you with the knife before placing a kiss against your cheek.
“hey, it’s not your fault my charm works so well—“
“shut up.”

hihi! hope you’re doing well :)
i was wondering if you could write headcannons for phoenix drop high Gene, Garroth & Blaze with a popular reader? like reader is well known in phoenix drop high, super energetic, kind and captain/leader of a big sports team/club? maybe just general headcannons (including how the two get together?)
tysm <33
A/N: i had a lot of fun writing this!! im sorry it took a while, i was sick when the request was sent and got sick again in the middle of writing im good now - for the most part at least
i hope you enjoy read this! :3
!! WARNINGS !! i feel like PDH!gene needs a warning of his own, gn!reader, you/your pronouns used
Gene:
You were the volleyball club president, the cheery type who had a knack for making friends.
Gene is in no way fond of the popular types; so then why did you catch his attention?
Why does his heartbeat pick up when he sees you smile, when he hears your laugh?
Gene is a selfish person, he takes what he wants - and in this case he wants you.
He considered trying to find something to blackmail you with, and get you to join the shadowknights.
But you always had people around you, and everyone knew what he was like, so there was no way they'd let him pull you away for a private conversation.
But he found himself with the perfect opportunity one day after school.
Your teammates had other obligations they needed to attend to; this left you to put away the equipment.
He dismissed Sasha and Zenix (mainly Zenix as he had a tendency to speak without thinking).
He approached you, and offered to help clean up.
It was almost unnerving how nice he was being - you may have been a friendly person but you weren't stupid. you knew he was planning something.
You chose to be nice to him, but you kept your guard up.
Time passes and you guys finish cleaning up, you say goodbye to Gene, and leave.
Only after you leave does he realize he didn't even bring up you joining the shadow-knights.
He just spent time with you, talking and hanging out like you were old friends.
This is the first thing that made him question his plan.
PDH gene is by no means a good person - but even he has some morals.
After this you would say hello to him in passing and make small talk - again acting like you two had been friends for years.
You were just too sweet, and it chipped away at him.
Eventually he completely forgot about forcing you to join the shadowknights.
Although you weren't a shadowknight, you were friends.
And not just with him, you were nice to Sasha and Zenix too.
Sasha had gotten rather attached to you, and although Zenix would rather die than admit it - he quite liked having you around.
Of course other people questioned why someone as sweet as you would be friends with them. Were you being forced?
you would always respond with “they're actually really nice” - Which no one believed of course.
But Gene quickly shut down all the questions, and no one really wanted to get on his bad side; so they stopped asking you about it.
Your relationship with Gene slowly changed, you two never acknowledged it.
but you both knew you weren't just “friends” anymore.
Gene isn't the type to be explicitly romantic or loud with his affections - he's more subtle about it.
He asked you out in a very casual way - you two were hanging out at his house.
You were scrolling on your phone absentmindedly while he was playing a game, when he suddenly asked:
“Do you wanna go to the coffee shop this weekend?” “Sure!” “It's a date then.”
No beating around the bush with this man.
It's an interesting dynamic between you two - but he wouldn't have it any other way.
Garroth:
Garroth is a naturally charismatic and sociable person.
This, along with him being the baseball team captain, meant it was only natural for Garroth to be well acquainted with other sports captains.
You were the track and field team captain.
Much like Garroth you were charming and peppy, and had a tendency to naturally draw people to you.
On the first day of the new school year, you were tending to the track and field club’s stand.
Some other club leaders asked for your help; because of this a handful of nearby freshmen got the impression that you were helping with everything, and not just your own stand.
You were happy to help, but you didn't anticipate being suddenly surrounded by a large group of over-excited freshmen who kept talking over each other.
You tried to help them all, but it was getting overwhelming.
As if he could hear your thoughts, Garroth redirected the freshmen to the mentors - he also offered to help out with the track and field stand.
He wasn't very busy with the other members tending to the baseball stand.
You gladly accepted his help - although you and Garroth were friendly before this, you weren't very close.
After this day your friendship blossomed; the two of you would often spend free time together and even help each other with team captain responsibilities.
If either of you had a match, the other would be sure to come and cheer.
With the two of you being as popular as you were, it was only inevitable for rumors to start about you two dating.
Garroth brushed it off and acted as though he wasn't affected by the silly rumors - but that wasn't really the case.
Truthfully he had been harboring feelings for you for some time, and these rumors gave him a chance to see how you'd react to the idea of you two dating.
He did sometimes flirt with you, but played it off as a joke causing you to respond with joking flirtation of your own (was it really a joke tho).
When you didn't seem opposed to the idea, his heart jumped out of his chest.
He took the first chance he got and asked you out.
He's so cute guys I love him.
Blaze:
You had been the tennis team captain for over a year - your popularity grew along with the tennis club as you led the team to win many matches.
had been receiving complaints by team members about a group of werewolves that kept stealing tennis balls in the middle of matches.
A few lost balls wouldn't be much of a problem, but they kept doing this until the players had none left.
You knew if you went to the werewolves responsible yourself the chances of them listening to you were little.
So you opted to go directly to the principal - so far she seemed a lot more competent than the previous principal, so you had hoped she'd be able to help you.
But these hopes were quickly diminished when she said she couldn't intervene as it was a “werewolf issue”.
You argued it was affecting the tennis club members who were human and meif'wa as well.
But she made some vague excuse about having a meeting and told you to talk to the werewolf studies teacher about it.
After having any and all hope in the new principal destroyed, you went off to find the werewolf studies teacher.
When you explained the situation to him he informed you that this was the responsibility of the “alpha” and he couldn't do much.
By this point you were getting very frustrated - you had to run all over the school to find someone to help, only for them to tell you that they couldn't do anything.
To your relief you were informed that the werewolf alpha was Aphmau (you decided to not ask why a human was the werewolf alpha).
You weren't super close with Aphmau, but you met her once when you and Katelyn were playing tennis - you’d had some friendly interactions since and you had hoped that she wouldn't dismiss you like the last two people.
You managed to find her as she was talking to a red haired werewolf - you had seen him around a few times. His name was Blaze if you remembered correctly.
She was friendly as usual when you approached her, but you noticed she seemed more tired and even a bit frazzled.
You explained the situation to her and she was very understanding, but you could see that just thinking about handling this made her look even more tired.
That's when Blaze interrupted and said he was happy to help, as aphmau had to focus on choosing an alpha male - whatever that means.
You were ecstatic, after all that running around you finally found someone who could help.
Blaze was very sweet- and although he was a tad clueless when it came to certain things, he certainly had the spirit.
You helped Blaze find the responsible werewolves and at first he was explaining to them that they shouldn't steal things that don't belong to them.
However after they were not very receptive to this, he took a more,, “hands on” approach.
You knew after going to this school for some time that werewolves would often solve conflict by fighting.
But you didn't expect blaze to throw the werewolves out the nearest window and then jump out after them???
You just wanted your team members to be able to practice in peace.. How did this happen-?
By the time that you reached downstairs where they were, the group of werewolves were standing in front of Blaze, looking down silently.
Blaze was grinning and looked very proud of himself - he seemed to be waiting for you to tell him he did a good job.
You didn't expect a 6’3 werewolf to be so.. Cute?
You thanked him for his help and told him he was welcome to play with the tennis team whenever he pleased.
In the following weeks your friendship grew - he would join your practice in his free time.
Although when he did it was mostly him chasing after the ball and forgetting he's supposed to hit it with the racket.
As you grew closer, Blaze started noticing that his feelings towards you were changing.
He always thought you were rather cute but he didnt think too deeply about it.
But his desire to be around you grew.
subtlety isn't Blaze’s strong suit - the second he realizes he has a crush on someone, he starts following them around everywhere and his affection grows tenfold.
He's a naturally affectionate person towards his loved ones, but you noticed that it's different with you.
One day you decide to ask him about it and he just looks at you and just flat out confesses.
He was under the impression that he was being quite obvious.
He's so <3333
I love him
Immensely

CHAPTER 2.
As you park in front of the girl's house, you pull out your phone to send her a text.
_______________
Aphmau ^^
(xxx)-xxx-xxxx
You: alright !! :) I'll pick you up in the morning! Goodnight!!1
Aphmau: Okeyyy! :3 Goodnightt!
Read 10:23
-monday-
You: hey i'm hereee
Delivered 7:20
_______________
You stare at your phone as you wait for her to respond. Dead panning at the front entrance after 5 minutes. Looking back at your phone and sighing, you unbuckle yourself and open the door to your car. You walk up to the front door of Aphmau's house and knock on the door. To your surprise you can hear shuffling from the inside and a yell from what sounds like an older woman.
The older woman swings the door open and smiles brightly at you. You’ve met her before but briefly. “Hi mija! Are you here to take my baby to school?” She holds her hand together waiting for your response. “Yes ma’am! I'm here for Aphmau” you finally respond with a nervous smile. She whips around and walks towards the stairs before turning to you for a moment. “Come in mija!” she says while turning back to the stairs and yelling up the stairs. You close the door behind you and wait for the black haired girl at the entrance. You wait about two minutes before watching the short girl wave at you from up the stairs. You smile at her and wave back as she rushes down the stairs. “Sorry for the wait” she exclaims. She runs up to you and throws her bag onto the floor and gets on the floor to shove her feet into her shoes. Picking up her stuff, you look at her holding the door open for them to leave. She yells her goodbyes to her mom and shuts the door and locks it. She turns to you and smiles tiredly. You smile back and head towards your car. You get into the car together and start playing music.
_______
at school
You look down at your phone as you finish climbing the stairs up to the front entrance of the school. You both give each other a side eye remembering that they have the doors locked for the first day. You and Aphmau both agree after staring at the doors that you would find the others before the bell rings. Looking around you make eye contact with kawaii chans sparkling orange eyes. You giggle to yourself about how happy she is to see you and Aphmau. You guys make your way over to Kawaii chan who is standing with Kaitlyn and nicole.
You don't seem to notice someone out of the corner of your eye while checking your phone for the time causing you to crash into one another. You fall to your knees in slight pain, looking up covering your sore nose to see Aphmau's terrified face and then slowly looking to see who you had the unfortunate fate of bumping into on the first day. You lay your eyes on an edgy looking teenage boy. His ashy blue eyes slightly covered by messy black hair stare down at you with disdain. You look back at aphmau and she looks down back to you while reaching her hand out for you. Picking yourself up with the help of your friend you look back to where the black haired buy was a moment ago. He’s gone. You look around and see he’s only a few steps away so you watch him walk away into the corner join a few other edgy looking kids. You roll your eyes and look back at aphmau who is nervously smiling at you. “Who was that..?” you finally break the silence. She’s startled by your question. Although, now you were good friends, last year you weren't too close. So you don't have any knowledge of the boy and Aphmau's history. “...is he an ex?” You ask, making aphmau's jaw drop and deadpan to the group of friends that were waiting for you. You turn to look at them and to your surprise they looked shocked. Kaitlyn looks almost pissed and disgusted and Nicole's mouth is slightly open in awe. Kawaii chan on the other hand…you can tell something stirring up in her little meif'wa mind. She has the fattest smile on her face that makes you cringe and hide behind Aphmau as you collectively walked towards the group.
As you near them, passing the fountain, you can feel the stares of other students. They're not necessarily BAD stares but it was awkward. “Are you ok?” Kaitlyn asks, turning her head and staring menacingly at the boy that didn't seem too apologetic for knocking you down. You glance over to the group and the heat rushes to your face when you catch him staring and you. He smirks before looking away and continuing his conversation. “y-yeah..I’m fine,,why?”. You face the 4 friends in confusion. The four of them look at you with concern or nervous smiles. Nicole leans in and cups your ear and whispers, “Well, last year Aphmau had a few problems with that group. They’re called the Shadow Knights. They’re just a group of delinquents. They just skip and tag the place up while no one watches. They haven’t done anything too bad after what happened last year with them getting caught skipping in the back of the school. But they still seem to like picking on some students. It's best not to associate with them in any way for the better of your safety.” she pulls away and smiles. You look to aphmau with a worried face. “So his name is Gene?” You ask. “Yeah. The one you bumped into is gene, the white haired girl is sasha and the brunette is Zenix.” Kaitlyn says with a hint of hate in her voice.
As you turn to speak to Aphmau the bell rings and all the students rush into the building after the doors open. Youre about to walk into the crowd when KC grabs you and pulls you back into the group. “Kawaiichan thinks its best to be the last to get into the building so we dont get lost..” You shrug and nod in agreement. To your suprise, when most of the students made it into the building you see Gene and his friends start to sneak away. Kaitlyn being petty and nosy, calls over Teony. She’s been holding the door the entire time, you couldnt see her behind the swarm of students. Nonetheless she makes her way to you and the other girls before glancing at the group of delinquents trying to make their escape. “Sorry ladies..” she says sweetly before storming towards the students and scolding them and dragging them into the building. You start making your way into the building aswell. Catching another glimpse of an even more angered trio, you cant help but let out a small giggle while passing them, earning a glare from Zenix.
_____
In class
You dont have any classes with any of your friends for your first class so you sit at the seat near the back window looking out into a hall. Your eyes travel across the room before stopping at the now opening classroom door. You watch the black haired boy grumbling to himself as Teony drags him into the class. She waves at you before explaining to the teacher that he had gotten lost. Obviously a lie. Teony was a saint when it came to saving even the bad kids. She leaves after waving you goodbye. TThe teacher looks at the boy with a soft smile. She looks around the room and lay her eyes into you. Smiling, she gestures over to you with her hand. “There. You will sit there for the semester. Maybe sitting next to a top student will help you get your act together." she says gently with a bit of disdain in her voice. He looks into the direction the teacher was pointing with zero emotion on his face. Until he lays eyes on you. He furrows his eyebrows and groans while shuffing his way towards the seat next to you. Placing the bag onto his desk before standing there next to his new seat glaring. You can smell the faint smell of cigarettes poorly covered by cologne, making your nose scrunch in disgust. You give him a weak and fake smile as he sits. Making him smile just as, if not more obviously fake, in response.
_____
After a nerve-wracking class, you stop near the door of the class to look at your schedule. You can smell the cigarettes again. You felt someone shove past you in the alomst empty hall. You look up in confusion and see Gene walking away. You stare at the back of his head. “Asshole.” You mutter under your breath, just loud enough for him to hear over the sound of werewolves playing around in the next hall. He stop in his tracks, turns his head to look back at you with a shit eating grin. You return the smile back as if you said nothing. Walking past him before he can get a word in. You can feel his gaze burn into the back of your skull, making your face flush red in fear of what you just got yourself into.

Analyzing Ein.
Tumblr media
I despise Ein wholeheartedly simply because of the mayhem he's caused the characters in MyStreet. But regardless I think Ein has more character depth than Aaron.
It sucks to admit because I love Aaron(Jason as a voice actor simply. You gotta love his voice.) But damnn Aaron's character has like zero depth. His whole personality is just 'Oh no my eyes' 'I have daddy issues' and 'I'm obsessed over aphmau'
EIN ON THE OTHER HAND >>>
Now let's analyze Ein starting from PDH s2 :)
Before he moved to PDH, he was from a Western wolf tribe. There, he was an Omega and we can assume he was bullied and didn't have it easy there. That's why when Aphmau, literally the FEMALE ALPHA, started being nice to him, he started to develop a small little crush.
I personally think, and still think he wasn't using Aph to his advantage to become Alpha Male. He was probably just overwhelmed by the affection he felt from Aph given his past. However I can't help but feel like the whole thing was just the tiniest bit rushed.
But then after he became alpha male he probably felt a sense of power that he'd never felt before, driving him to go all 'yeah you all suck bow to me peasants'
Throughout MyStreet s4, Ein had gotten a lot more evil. We don't know what happened to him during the times when he was off-screen during MyStreet s1-s3 but like- dude. Chill. Youre trying to kill everyone simply because Aaron beat you up, you didn't get to be with Aph, and you got kicked out of Pdh, losing your title of alpha in the process.
By the end of s6, Ein was no longer as relevant other than to anger Aaron and create drama and plot.
I also really wanted to point out that Ein likes blue. It's not relevant but-
Hey did you guys know Ein likes blue?
That'll be relevant information for my Ein rewrite ;)

Hiii!! I’m still here, lol!! Can I please request headcannons of what Zane is like in a relationship? What are his habits :)?
Omg!!! Hi hello!
School was shitty yesterday, so I'm going to work on this. I ask now!!!!
Character: Zane Ro'meave
Type: Headcannons
Request: what he's like in a relationship
ZANE RO'MEAVE
Tumblr media
At the start of your relationship, he's very insecure.
Not only because he isn't very good with emotions and confronting them (like his love for you), the most prominent problem is well.. his brother.
His brother, Garroth, was always the golden child and was seen as perfect by literally everyone like the students in Phoenix drop high and by his own parents.
It's not a secret that Zane resented his brother because of that and due to that he was even more nervous when he brought you to meet his brother for the first time.
He was convinced that you were going to leave him the first few weeks after meeting garroth.
And because of this, he got a particular habit of having at least some sort of contact with you at any given time not only to have the comfort of knowing that you're there, still together with him and next to him but to also let everyone know that you're here with him.
At the start, he only allowed himself to interlock pinky fingers with you, but as your relationship continues, he becomes more.. greedy, He starts off slowly, going from interlocking pinky's with you to holding hands to interlocking arms with you to unashamedly putting his arms around you anytime he can.
He is the little spoon. No arguments, it does not matter if you're smaller than him or taller than him or thicker then him, The feeling of you having your arms around him gives him a feeling of comfort and security.
He makes it a point to tell you he loves you atleast ONCE a day. Because he knows for a fact that he doesn't show that he does at times but don't worry he's working on it.
You know how everyone says that girlfriends steal their boyfriends clothes? Yea, he's the girlfriend in this scenario, just that he doesn't steal your hoodies but he does infact steal your hairclips.
He wears atleast one of your hairclips in his fringe every single day, it doesn't matter what colour they are even if all of your hairclips were pink he'd still wear them because it was a little reminder that there will always be a part of you together with him even when your not physically there.
He has a habit of bringing you cookies every monday. It started in the third week in your relationship. He really wanted to show you how much he loved you since he was not yet feeling secure enough to say 'I love you', and the first time he gave you cookies they were poorly made christmas cookies (even though it was the middle of summer) that were burned at least partially but you knew he made them with love even if they weren't pefectely made. He was embarrassed and quite a bit ashamed when he presented them to you even saying "They're shitty Okay!? You don't need to eat them." When you actually accepted them and since then he gradually improved.
Another habit of his was too hold your hands when he is nervous he would squeeze your hands tightly when his anxiety got the better of him.
He also looks into anything you recommend to him, whether it was a movie or an article of clothing he'd look into them every Saturday, no matter how small the mention of it was even if it was only mentioned in passing. It was well.. a habit now.
He takes a picture every time you both do something you enjoy but he nevers post them his reasoning for it is 'It's only meant for my eyes.. these rather intimate moments are only for me and you to share'
He wears a bracelet you made when the two of you first became friends and he wears it every day even if it clashes with his outfits at times with his uniform on though when he does wear it while wearing his uniform he tugs it into his sleeve not because his ashamed but to keep it safe and from getting his dirty.
Further into the relationship, if you were born afab, he'd stock up on pads, tampons, ibuprofen, keep a heating pad and even sweets if it made you feel better during your time of the month.
Though if you were born amab he wouldn't keep around pads or tampons since you obviously don't need them but he does infact keep ibuprofen, sweets and a heating pad around if you were ever in need of these items.
Tumblr media
These were the headcannons I have.
I actually wanted to put some more things into this, but I rather kept on track of the request!
I'm know I'm not the best writer but I hope you like this!

I don't want to steal the confession idea from the other anon but the idea of garroth giving a letter after going 'oh wow I'm late for baseball practice haha! come see me after you read that!--' is so cute
OMG
YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT THIS REMINDS ME OF
THIS VIDEO FOR SOME REASON
also did you know i actually rewrote my own science notes digitally from last year for this request’s header
lol, hope you like it, nonnie! this one's built a little different for the sake of the #narrative.

sir raymond (he insists you use his nickname) always has an unhinged tale or two from his youth (he’s still in his mid-20s) up his sleeve, but the class doesn’t mind it with how he always manages to link it back to earth science, your last class of the week (well, before club period). he graduated from the university bordering phoenix drop, and he’s currently reminiscing about how he and his mates used to cling to its outer gates and hover above the sidewalk on the way there to avoid getting their clothes soaked by the flood whenever it rained (even just a little bit). it hasn’t improved for that area in ru’aun, but it’s always been like that. he should be getting back on topic in 3…2…
your train of thought is interrupted by garroth getting up from the table next to you when a senior pops by the classroom window and makes some motion that only the two of them understand. the class is used to it by now, so he’s able to quietly excuse himself and leave early for varsity duties. before you know it, his figure disappears down the hallway, basking in the afternoon sun. you’re about to chase after him to return the notebook he’s just left behind, but your name written slightly bigger than usual catches your eye.
you almost get caught zoning out when turning a page of his notebook reveals something you’re sure you’re not supposed to see. your cheeks heat up and your heart starts racing.
Tumblr media
I’m pretending to be taking down notes, but really, I’m just writing this. Don’t get mad?
Anyway, so so sorry I can’t stick around again this period! Would it be alright to take a look at your notes during lunch period after intrams? I should be able to free up my schedule around that time now that the team doesn’t need me around when there’s no practice. The guilt is seriously eating me alive by relying on you more than I should for Earth Sci, can you not decline the next time I offer to make it up to you?
Speaking of, you should head over to the gym after club. I think the rest of the varsity teams need another pair of eyes to get them to work faster, and so we can finish event prep early. Your friends should be there too, I think? Still, I’d be happy to show you around myself! I can help you fend off anyone if they decide to annoy you.
Irene help me, I feel Sir’s stare on me right now. I’m definitely next to be called on for a question. But thanks to the Divine (I hope so), I can hear my team captain about to round the corner of the hallway outside and call me out for practice and intrams. Hope you don’t get called in my stead. Seriously. Now that’d be another thing to apologize for.
Getting off track now. Anyway! Really hope you’ll drop by later. Your company’s always welcome and such a delight to ha
Tumblr media
Today’s To-Do:
🗹 Intrams, Log Committee
☐ ████ Application
🗹 Lunch @ Courtyard
☐ Look up ██████ & ██. ████
☐ Just confess already (keep it casual, it’s not that hard! — L.) (later after club then?)

BRO. NEW FAN!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR GENE FICS!!!!!
So much, that I come requesting 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Bully!Gene(if you do that, if not then teenager Gene) x smart or very intelligent reader :)) can be romantic or platonic!!
Tumblr media
𝐔𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑
𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: pdh gene x fem!reader
𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘: how ironic is it, when you have to run to someone you’re scared of for protection. maybe, though, you don’t need to be as scared as you are.
𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐒: hurt/comfort, slight angst, unsaid feelings from gene but could also be seen as platonic, “i bully her but only i can bully her” ahh trope, i had to give high school gene some masked redeeming qualities because i said so, gene still being gene in high school (so cussing and delinquent behavior, but not towards reader), he scares you a lil but doesn’t actually bully you
𝐂𝐖: reader is bullied by other students, mentions of violence
𝐀/𝐍: i took offff with this trope bro i lowkey wanna write a whole fic rather than a oneshot about this. i relate so much to the goody two shoes smarty pants reader because that’s still me out of high school tbh hahaha thank you for the prompt anon! (also, the scenario was inspired by a clip of a cdrama i saw one time)

Tumblr media
you’re not sure why it started. you’re not even sure when.
was it because you were friends with aphmau? or garroth? because you followed the rules and made good grades? or were you just an easy target?
at first, she had only sent glares your way, cerise hair framing that ugly grimace she’d reserved for you when no one was looking. sometimes she’d spit a snide comment or two, aiming to berate you and take you down from the core. but then it got worse. you were “bumped into”. then shoved outright. threatening notes were tucked in your locker when you weren’t looking.
she must have realized people would believe you if you told someone. you had a good standing, kept to yourself, didn’t go out of your way for attention. and she had a reputation to keep, too.
you were shocked, when one day she had stopped. she didn’t speak to you, didn’t hit you. hell, she didn’t even go near you. but it wasn’t because she was done with you, it was because it was going to get worse.
students you didn’t even know started approaching you, accusing you of things you’d never done, berating you, and if no one was looking…
you had wondered every possibility of why and when.
but now, you don’t think of any of that, as a group of boys chased you through the empty halls, spatting unrepeatable insults and threats of violence that you sure weren’t just empty promises. you could barely think—barely breathe and stay ahead—as you sprinted through the side of the school that somehow no teacher nor student could be seen to help.
you still kept your destination set on one spot, a place that would either save you or make your situation a thousand times worse. it was your only option, though, ironically as it was.
bursting through the doors of the school’s outdoor shed, you nearly collapsed in relief at the sight of him—your bleak sliver of hope for survival.
hooded eyes meet yours curiously from under thick lashes and messy black hair, before snapping to the group of boys racing in behind you like a pack of hyenas. his jaw snaps in place, nearly squishing the half burned cigarette that hung from his lips. he sits up from his spot on some stacked gym mats, his purposefully disheveled uniform even messier than usual. they freeze at the doorway, nearly tumbling over the other as their eyes widen at the sight.
“get the fuck out.” is all he has to say, lifting a scabbed-over hand to flick ash in their direction as they scramble back out of sight.
your relief is short lived, you realize, as you’re now left alone with him. you anxiously shy away from his dark blue gaze, your legs wobbling as they try to take you towards the door. you nearly jump out of your own skin when his tall build quickly intercepts your path, his arm lazily reaching out to shut the door and seclude the two of you inside.
“not you.”
you back up as he begins to pace toward you, every two steps you take one of his before you’re finally stopped by the shelf behind you. the scent of a musky cologne and cigarette smoke invades your senses as he also stops, face merely inches away from yours as he looks down at you.
“how did you know i was in here?”
you quickly turn to try and run around him, but his hand connects against the shelf to your right. as you flinch and try to turn the other way his other arm has already pinned you in, leaving you completely trapped.
“i’m sorry.” you finally muster, head ducked as you stare at the ground in front of you. “i didn’t know.”
“so you just happened to run into me here in a place no one has caught me in, yet, huh?” he tilts his head. “you thought it would be smart to run in a secluded area with no escape while a group of boys was after you, is that it?”
you stay silent, fighting away the tears of exhaustion and anxiety biting at your eyes. gene looks away from you towards the door again, plucking the cigarette from his lips and exhaling more smoke from his lungs.
his eyes flick back down to you, watching as your features flinch in displeasure and nausea as some of the smoke catches in your face. a second passes before he drops it to the concrete flooring, putting out the lit paper and nicotine under his shoe.
“you may be smarter than me when it comes to academics but i’m not falling for that. you think i haven’t noticed you watching me? somehow always “running into me” when you’re in trouble?”
the blood drains from your face as you realize you’ve been caught, your teary eyes dreadfully trained at the wall.
“it’s kind of rude to take advantage of me like that and not pay me back…” he trails, calculating eyes trained on every reaction and expression you give. “maybe i’ll make you join my group and do my dirty work for me.”
you curse internally at the tears that fall from your eyes, unable to contain themselves in your eyes as they spill over. an embarrassed moment passed before a busted up hand brushes against your cheek, catching the delicate and salty liquid on his fingers. you flinch, finally facing him as your reddened eyes meet his. his expression is unreadable, making a face you hadn’t seen on him before.
“nah. you wouldn’t be able to handle it.” he finally says, his voice nearly startling you.
a couple seconds more pass as he stares at your silent tears, eyebrows furrowing before he makes a noise somewhere between a scoff and a sigh. he straightens his posture, lifting his arms away and releasing you from his trap.
“they should be gone now.” he waves his hand, motioning towards the shed door for you to leave when you don’t move as if his intentions had been obvious in the first place.
“go.”
“what? you don’t want anything?” you ask, voice wobbling.
“i don’t care for ivy’s style. and people like you aren’t any fun to mess with, anyways...” he says, his eyes finally leaving yours for once as he stares off at the wall behind you, rolling his tongue against the inside of his cheek.
you hesitate a second more, but you don’t have time to dissect his body language or choice of words, so you quickly head towards the door. you pause one last time before running out, turning to him again.
“thank you.”
and then you’re gone. gene groans, cursing under his breath and running his hand through his hair as he trails to the doorway to watch you disappear back into the school again. you weren’t sure how to feel when your aggressors stopped approaching you so much, their presence replaced by a distant glimpse you’d catch of messy black hair in your peripheral. sometimes you’d even notice sasha or zenix quietly trailing after you in the hall, but you knew better than to question it, gratefully keeping your head down.

It was not a pleasant thing to be locked up in your tower.
Yes, you enjoyed the solitude it provided. You had read numerous history books about the horrible things people did beyond the walls, and your mother had told you in great detail the terrible things that had happened to her before she was blessed with you. She wanted to protect you from the troubles she had endured at your age, and you were content with that.
But you had read other stories. The fictional ones your mother brought you as a reward for taking such wonderful care of your tower while she was away were filled with magic. You were transported to another world when you opened the crisp pages, and you could devour those stories in hours.
Those were the stories that told you about love and its different forms. You had read about brave heroines creating everlasting bonds with the people they led or the animals they befriended. You read about relationships of unconditional trust in terrifying situations, and you had read about families that found each other in their darkest times.
But your favorites, as cliche as it may be, were the ones where two people fell in love.
You loved reading about the feelings that developed and the stolen kisses and the romantic outings. They always had you smiling uncontrollably and kicking your feet when you daydreamed about experiencing the same thing later.
You longed to know what it felt like to fall in love the same way the characters in your stories did. You yearned to feel that same flap of butterfly wings in your stomach and have your knees weak at the small action of a kiss. You found yourself fantasizing about it more often than you liked to admit, imagining how it would go.
Perhaps your mother would find a suitor for you. She would bring him up into your tower when she visited and introduce the two of you. She would tell you that he was a lord of high standing and nobility and he would sweep you off your feet.
Or maybe he would find himself at the base of your tower, where the two of you would raise your voices just to communicate with each other. He would catch you when you jumped out to join him and create a life together.
Or, since your birthday was coming up, it might be possible to ask your mother to take you out. You were no longer a little girl or a teenager and you could defend yourself. Surely she would see no problem and allow you to accompany her on her next trip. You would travel to a village that sold the finest silks and paints and meet him on the street corner.
Your mother had other plans.
"Leave the tower?" She didn't even look at you as she cleaned the apples in her basket, rubbing them with a rag until they reflected the candlelight. "And how would we get back up?"
You softly exhaled through your nose, beginning to run your fingers through your hair and ignoring the subtle throbbing in your head. "We can use the same way you used when you originally brought me here."
Your mother scoffed, turning her head to look at you. Her gaze followed your hands for a moment before you got the hint to stop. She didn't like when you played with your hair. She always said it would cause stress and make you lose it.
"Darling," she began, her voice honeyed, "the way I used to get you up here is now so overgrown it's hardly usable anymore. Besides, I don't even remember where the door is."
When she turned her attention back to the apples and began cutting them up, you rolled your eyes. You opened your mouth to say something, but your mother kept talking, drowning the thoughts you were going to voice.
"It's a dangerous world out there, darling. You wouldn't like it. This meadow around the tower is the only safe haven I've found to protect you, and I refuse to put your safety in jeopardy just because you want to see beyond the walls."
This time, you didn't hide your discontent. You groaned and came up behind your mother, wrapping your arms around her body and resting your chin on her shoulder. She was a bit taller than you, so it was uncomfortable and you had to stand on your tiptoes.
"Please, mother. It's for my birthday."
"Yes, yes, darling. Your twenty-fourth, if I recall correctly." It was your twenty-third. "Quite a large number to celebrate. Oh, my baby's getting old."
She hummed as she reached up and pinched your cheek, her focus hardly faltering as she continued to cut up the fruit in her basket. The action left remnants of the sugared juice on your cheek, and you pulled away to wipe it off with the back of your hand.
"Mother, I'm not a little girl anymore. I can protect myself now."
"My answer is no, Y/n," she snapped. She turned her head once again to face you, and her gaze was so burning it made you feel like the small child you had just claimed you weren't. "Why do you want to go outside anyway? Aren't you happy with the luxuries I bring you every year?"
You didn't answer. Of course you were grateful for the gifts she brought you, you just wanted more. You wanted to experience what everyone else did.
"Y/n," your mother said after you had been quiet for a moment too long. "You're a young lady. You have the capability to respond when someone asks you a question."
You only nodded. Your mother let out an exasperated breath at the lack of an answer.
"See? You can barely answer a simple question. What makes you think you'll be able to survive out there?" She vaguely motioned to the open window before she walked past you, attempting to put an end to the conversation by stepping up the stairs that led to her private bedroom.
But you weren't going to let it stop there. You quickly caught up to her and grabbed her wrist with a gentle hold before she reached the curtain to the room, making her stop in her tracks and turn to you.
"It would just be one day, Mother. I'll stay by you the whole time, I-"
"I said no." Her tone was stern, and when she pulled her hand from your grasp it felt as though an arrow had gone through your heart. "I'm not changing my mind. Now, by the time I come out to make dinner, you attitude will be gone, is that understood?"
"But-"
She raised her brows. Her stare was piercing, searching your eyes for every secret you had.
You pressed your lips together for a moment before nodding.
Your mother didn't say anything else, only pulling the dark curtains to her room back enough for her to walk in. You waited until the thick fabric to stop swaying to lift your hand and push against the curtain, seeing if she would let you in.
Your hand met a barrier. Clearly she didn't want you with her at the moment. You weren't allowed in her room unless she had given you explicit permission.
You sighed, going down the stairs and sitting on your own bed. The wisteria flowers you had placed around the columns had started wilting. Maybe, if she wouldn't let you outside, your mother could at least get you new blooms.
Attitude. What attitude was she talking about?
You had laid down in your bed, twisting some of the wisteria leaves from your bed together to form a flower crown while you waited until your mother came back down. When she did, your "attitude" had disappeared, but neither of you spoke. Not even when the two of you sat at the table and ate the potato soup she had made.
Neither of you spoke again until the next morning. You wouldn't have at all if your mother hadn't told you she was leaving again. This time, the trip would be longer and you'd be alone.
You had only nodded in response. You waited by the window, watching as your mother gathered what she would need from the pantries and drawers before tossing your hair out the window. You groaned when she took hold of it, closing your hands around the strands near your scalp in an attempt to lessen the pull.
When she finally gave your hair one last tug, you nearly stumbled. You righted yourself before you fell, though, and stood at the window until your mother disappeared behind the veil of leaves that kept you hidden.
She was gone now, leaving you with absolutely nothing to do for hours on end.
Yes, you enjoyed the solitude your tower provided, but sometimes you wished there was someone to keep you company.
You heard the harsh grinding of stone against iron while you were seated at the table, mending a pair of slippers that had recently torn along the seams. The sound made you pause. You waited a moment to make sure you weren't going crazy.
When you heard it again, you immediately dropped the material in your hands and lunged for the cupboard. You grabbed a knife and darted across the room, throwing open the door to your wardrobe and pushing your blouses and skirts aside to hide among them. You spent longer than you wanted trying to stuff your hair in the spaces beside you, and you're sure a small amount of it got stuck beneath the doors. You left it open just a crack so you could see out of it.
He grunted as he lifted himself onto the windowsill, muttering a curse when he kicked his leg over the edge and stumbled into the room without grace. He stood up and looked around, his gaze faltering when he caught sight of the wardrobe. He started at it for a moment—a long moment where you thought he would stride right up to you and open the door, but he didn't.
When he turned his head away, you looked at him. His disheveled hair was light brown, parted down the middle. He was wearing gray pants and a blue overcoat. A leather bag wrapped tightly around his body, and a scabbard was secured around his waist, his hand never leaving the hilt of his sword.
The only thought that crossed your mind was that you would have to be sneaky to gain any kind of advantage over him, and when he took tentative steps past the wardrobe, further into the tower, you slowly pushed open the door and stepped out.
Your footsteps were quiet. You approached him slowly, making sure you didn't make any sound. You held the knife in front of you, both hands on the hilt, and aimed it at him.
Go fast and just get it over with, you told yourself, but something was making you hesitate. This was wrong. This was wrong, but he was trespassing. If something happened to you because you couldn't protect yourself . . . Dear, your mother would be enraged. She would never let you leave.
This was your one chance to prove you could protect yourself.
You stepped closer. Closer and closer until you were in such close proximity that you felt the need to hold your breath.
Just as you reached the point where you could jab out your arm and stab him, you paused. You tried to keep your breaths light and unheard, but your heart was pounding. You could feel it fighting against your rib cage, burning to jump out of your chest.
Your hesitance made you the victim. In one swift move, the man in front of you drew his sword and lunged back. In the same movement, he had successfully disarmed you, your kitchen knife now thrown across the room.
You froze, your hands lifted by your side in what you think is meant to be a defensive pose. Or the beginnings of running away. You aren't sure, since you couldn't think clearly because of the sword pointed at you.
The man looked you up and down, raising his eyebrows when he noticed your bare feet and the bandages wrapped around your fingertips (the result of accidentally stabbing yourself with a needle one too many times). His stance relaxed, but he kept his sword aimed at you.
"Who are you?" he asked. His voice was smooth, and if the circumstances were different you might have swooned from the sound alone.
You were silent, opening and closing your mouth like a fish as you fought to articulate the words you wanted to say. You must have looked like an idiot, wearing an untucked blouse and skirt that had clearly seen better days.
"I- Who are you?" you asked instead. Your voice was quieter than you would have liked. You tried clearing your throat discreetly before saying it louder, but it came out as a cough instead.
You decided not to repeat your question. You didn't want to embarrass yourself more than you already had.
The man was quiet. His gaze traveled over you again, this time lingering on the copious amounts of hair that trailed behind you. His eyes followed it for a moment before snapping back to your face.
He sheathed his sword and stood straighter, though that did nothing to quell your fears of being sliced to pieces.
"My name is Laurance Zvahl." He bowed, which surprised you. You knew that bowing was the typical show of gratitude or courtesy for someone of high standing, but you were just a girl in a tower. "I'm second in command of the guard in Phoenix Drop."
Your brows furrowed as he straightened. Phoenix Drop? It was a town your mother had visited years ago. The only thing she said when she returned from her stay was, "It was nothing special. Just a small, underdeveloped town run by a pacifist."
But . . . Phoenix Drop was so far. What was their second in command doing here?
"May I ask what your name is?" he asked when you had been silent for too long. He crossed your arms, and you figured he must not have pinned you as a threat if he was being this nonchalant about everything.
Which, you weren't a threat, but his comfort in your home unnerved you.
"Y/n," you replied.
Laurance smiled kindly. "A beautiful name for a beautiful woman."
Your eyes slightly widened. You can't say for sure if you blushed, but you knew from the way his smile widened that you weren't doing a very good job of hiding how flustered the single compliment made you.
You cleared your throat again. "Why are you here?"
"Ah." Laurance glanced around as he spoke. "Well, a few guards and I were accompanying our Lord on a trip. Unfortunately, we got separated in the forest and I ended up here. I assumed this tower was vacant since there was so much overgrowth outside, but"—he motions to you—"it clearly wasn't."
You nodded. People got lost in the forest surrounding your tower all the time, but none had ever entered the small circle of rocks that surrounded you. They had tried, but a barrier your mother had set up around it prevented them from getting father.
So how did he get in?
You knew that sometimes your mother's magic faltered, especially if she was far away, but she had redone the spells surrounding you just last week. They should have been stronger, if anything.
Laurance, taking note of your silence, continued talking. "I saw the tip over the rocks and assumed it was hollow. I suppose my guess was rewarded, since I now get to spend a few moments with someone as pretty as you."
He smiled again, and you found yourself relaxing ever so slightly. He hadn't moved to draw his sword again or make any physical advances on you, and you found your mind easing in your presence.
Your mother had always warned you of people like him—of people that seemed easy to trust and talk to. They were the most deceptive. They were the ones that would shatter your entire being with one lie.
You put her warnings in the back of your mind. It couldn't have been possible for someone with such sincere eyes to be a cheat, right?
"There's magicks around this tower," you said. You tried keeping your voice flat. "You shouldn't have been able to see anything, let alone get in."
Laurance's brows furrowed. "Really? Well, it must not be very strong. I didn't pick up on any traces of magic when I came in."
You huffed, any earlier ease you had felt now gone. "There is a barrier surrounding this tower and the rocks around it. My mother is the best witch in Ru'aun. Her magic essence comes from a line of witches so potent and known that armies have fallen at the feeling of it. Her magic doesn't falter for deities, much less a non-magicks user like you."
Your mother had told you stories about your ancestors. She often spoke about how they fought by Lady Irene's side and protected her from Shad the Destroyer. You knew your mother had powerful magicks. She had shown you the extent of her abilities herself.
Laurance's eyebrows raised again. He showed a lot of facial expressions, you noticed.
"Right. Well, I'm here, so maybe your mother's magic just ran out." He shrugged, the charming smile that painted his lips widening.
"Magic doesn't just run out-"
"Then it wore off, or something. Listen, I don't know a lot about magic or witches or . . . anything else like that." Laurance shrugged. You huffed, crossing your arms.
Incompetent little b-
"So, you just stay up here?" Laurance's stare was on your hair again, following the long locks until he reached the pile of hidden strands still in your wardrobe. He walked up to you and you stiffened, but he walked past you to trail your hair instead.
"Obviously," you snapped, as if it were common knowledge that you did. Your mother's words rang in your head. "There would be no way back up if I left."
Laurance hummed. You started running your hands through your hair as he approached the wardrobe, opening the door wider and allowing the pile of hair inside to slide out. "You got a lot of hair," he stated.
You tugged your hair closer to your body, though the action did nothing to move it further from Laurance. "How else is my mother supposed to get up here?"
Laurance lifted his head to face you, his brows raised. "Your mother climbs your hair to get up here?" You nodded. "That doesn't . . . It doesn't hurt?"
"Well, yeah. But I've gotten used to it. It doesn't hurt now as much as it did when I was little."
"People climbing your hair is a regular occurrence?"
You let out an exasperated breath. Who was this guy in thinking he could ask so many questions. "My mother's the only one."
"And you've never left this tower?"
You shook your head.
Laurance let out a low whistle.
You pressed your lips together. You knew he was judging not only your mother, but your lifestyle. Sure, it might not have been the most accepted method of protection, but up until today it had worked. You had been content to be alone in your tower your entire life. You had to be. Who was he to think he could just climb the walls and criticize the way you lived?
Laurance was looking out the window he had come in from. You opened your mouth to snap back, but Laurance started talking before you could.
"Ever consider leaving?"
His question caught you off guard. You started at him gobsmacked for a moment—as if he had just admitted a heinous secret to you—before your mind cleared enough for you to formulate an answer.
"I-I do. Yes." You paused, choosing your words. "But I'm content up here."
Laurance's lips curved into another charming smile. It practically lit up the room, and you found yourself easing once again at the sight of it.
"So you do? Do you even get fresh air up here? Have you ever felt the sun on your skin?"
You huffed. "Of course I have. That window allows me to receive what nature provides."
"But you've never really experienced any of it, have you? You've never laid out in the sun or ran in a field or-or talked to someone that isn't your mother, have you?"
You crossed your arms and looked away. "I'm talking to you right now, aren't I?"
Laurance exhaled. "That's not what I mean. I mean you don't have any friends, or acquaintances, or anyone to talk to at all. You don't get lonely up here?"
You rolled his words over in your head but didn't say anything. You refused to admit he was right. You did get lonely, and you did want to leave your tower even if it was for one day. But your mother wouldn't allow it.
Laurance's expression softened as he realized how sheltered you actually were. He looked around the tower again, taking in the hand painted details and the homemade candles and the stacks of books against the walls. He couldn't imagine living like this—stuck in an inescapable tower with nothing to do for days, years on end. No socialization, no friends, not even an animal of some kind for you to interact with.
"Alright, so clearly your mom's got a little something going on in her head." The words had you snapping your head in his direction as Laurance pointed his finger and moved it in a small circle. Your nose scrunched and you uncrossed your arms, moving to hit him, shove him, something, while you said a few choice words, but Laurance stuck his hand out and held onto your shoulder, keeping you an arm's length away. "But this is genuinely insane." He vaguely motioned to the room. "No one keeps their kid locked in a place like this. Not if they truly love them."
You huffed again, trying to push yourself forward to smack him, but his grip on your shoulder only tightened. It was clear he wasn't going to let you move.
"You don't know what you're talking about!" you yelled. "You don't know what my mother's been through or what she's trying to protect me from."
"Do you even know what she's protecting you from? Because the defenses you claim are surrounding this tower sound like battle tactics. Nothing poses that much of a threat to a place like this."
“People like you do,” you bit back. “My mother’s always warning me about you. The handsome, charming ones that can obviously get girls to smile with every word they say. She says people like you will turn their backs on those they claim to love without a second thought.”
Laurance exhaled. “Okay, so your mother met one bad person that broke her trust and ruined her life. That’s no reason to lock your daughter up forever. Not everyone is like that.”
“Well the good ones are so sparse and hard to find that there isn’t even a point in trying.”
“How would you even know that? You-” Laurance groaned, cutting himself off and taking a moment to gather his thoughts. “Listen, this is insane.” Laurance threw his arms out, motioning to the tower. “No one locks people up like this to protect them. You can’t tell me you seriously want to stay up here for the rest of your life, can you?”
You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms again. “Obviously I don’t, but my mother knows best. If she says that staying up here will keep me safe and away from the people she seems unworthy, then I will stay up here.”
Laurance blew out a breath. He ran a hand through his hair and began pacing for a moment.
“Alright, listen. I know this is crazy, but you clearly don’t. And I now know that you don’t want to stay here forever. So how about this—I get you out of here. You can experience the world for just a little bit, see how people interact, see how life is supposed to be, and then you can decide if your mother truly knows what’s best for you.”
You pursed your lips. His offer was enticing. You had just spoken to your mother about this and refused you. You knew you shouldn’t go with him. Laurance was a stranger you just met. He could be a serial killer for all you knew.
But there was something in his eyes. His gorgeous blue eyes that resembled celestite held something akin to worry. He wanted you to leave, and you realized it wasn’t so he could fulfill whatever sick fantasy he might have had.
He was kind, you could tell that much. He couldn’t seem to handle the thought of anyone stuck in the same situation as you, and he wanted to help you. He needed to help you get out of this tower, even if it was only for a couple days.
You huffed. “How do you propose both of us get out of here?”
Despite himself, a faint smile graced Laurance’s features. “We could get out the way I came in.”
Laurance reached into his bag and pulled out four arrows. You found it odd, since he had no bow on him. He must have found them somewhere.
You looked down at the arrows, your gaze flicking between them and Laurance’s eyes.
“I’m not using those,” you plainly stated.
“Then use your hair. I’m sure you can double it up or something and slide down it. I’ll catch you when you reach the bottom.”
You rolled your eyes, biting your lip to hide a smile.
Nothing else was said. You watched as Laurance sauntered back to the window and kicked his legs over the edge. You stayed standing in your spot, wondering if you should really do this.
Your mother would be gone for weeks. You could afford to spend some time out. But what if something happened to you? You could be kidnapped or killed or worse.
When the top of Laurance’s head disappeared, you took that as your sign to stay behind. If he was out of sight then the whole thing was out of mind. You would never have to tell your mother about this, and maybe one day she would take you out herself.
You were just about to turn and continue mending your slipper’s when you heard his voice.
“You comin’?” he called out. You paused again. Against your better judgment, you walked to the window and peered over the edge.
Laurance wasn’t that far down the tower. He was looking down at where he placed his feet so he didn’t slip.
You looked past him, to the grassy field of flowers below him. You watched a rabbit scurry across your line of vision before it disappeared into a hole beneath a tree before taking a deep breath.
Okay, so maybe out of sight out of mind wasn’t going to work for you. That was alright. It would be just fine if you left with this man you just met, right?
Oh Divines.
You took another deep breath before tossing your hair out the window and winding it around the hook. How does this work? Do you just grab it and then scale down the tower? Do you slide down the hair? What if you got stuck?
You reached out and grabbed ahold on your hair. You tugged on it experimentally, knowing it would hurt your head more than usual since you wouldn’t be able to tug it back toward your scalp.
You slowly inhaled and exhaled again before doing the same as Laurance and kicking your feet over the windowsill.
One deep breath at a time, you gathered the courage to let yourself fall ever so slightly, yelping when you moved farther down than you intended. Your heart jumped to your throat, and it took you another moment to gather yourself and continue.
Laurance had already made it to the bottom. He now stared up at you, poised to move if your slipped and fell. He would catch you, you trusted that much.
It didn’t quell your nerves. It took another minute of deep breaths and closing your eyes before you readjusted yourself and your foot met the warm stone of your tower. You slowly moved down, grunting with the effort of quite literally holding yourself up by the head.
Laurance’s voice talked you through it as you reached closer and closer to the bottom. Your arms felt as though they would give out and your head was pounding. You thought you had good footing on the tower, but the stone was loose. It crumbled beneath your foot as you loosened your hold on your hair to move down and you went tumbling with it.
You let out a scream as you fell, though it was short lived. Laurance was beneath you in an instant, catching you in a mess of bundled fabric and tangled hair. The placement of his hands wasn’t the most appropriate, with one hand just a hair away from groping your chest and the other holding a firm grip on your hip, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to chastise him as you took a second to gather yourself again.
You gently pushed him away when your mind cleared. He set you onto your feet without complaint and waited until your breathing evened out to say anything.
When you finally looked up at him, he smiled.
“Look behind you,” he said. You did so, craning your neck up to see the window of your tower left wide open. It was much taller than you expected, and you had to turn your whole body and take a few steps back to take it all in. “You’re free. For a couple days at least.”
You didn’t let thoughts of how your mother would punish you if she found out plague you. Nor did you let yourself think about the impossible task of getting back up into the tower. You refused to fathom every terrible thing that could happen to you because you were free, albeit for a short period of time.
Your face broke into a wide smile. You tore your gaze from your tower and looked around. You had only ever seen the meadow from an aerial view. You never would have thought that it looked so beautiful seeing everything from where you stood now.
You let out a breath of disbelief, laughing as you knelt in the grass and ran your hands through the soft blades.
How did you live your entire life without this?
You didn’t comment at the sound of Laurance’s footsteps behind you. You just relished in the sound his boots made against the gravel and dirt, an odd sound to love but one you never think you’ll tire of hearing.
You look up at him, bright smile and all.
“What?” you asked, noticing his expression. It seemed content. There was the faintest of smiles on his lips and his eyes were sparkling like the water in the creek across the field.
Laurance shook his head. “Nothing. Just glad I could help.”
If it was possible, your smile would have widened. You pushed yourself back to your feet, rubbing your scalp to loosen the tension as you looked around again.
“So where are we going?” you asked.
“Well, I need to find my lord and the other guards I accompanied,” Laurance said. You turned to him, still running your hands through your hair. “You’re free to join me, if you’d like, or we can go our separate ways. The choice is yours, beautiful.”
That time, you allowed yourself to soften your smile as you gazed at him. “I think I will.”
Looking at him now, with the sun shining against his hair and reflecting off his eyes like they were the rarest crystals, you thought he was handsome. Unbearably so. The corners of his eyes turned up and his face looked as though it would fit in your hands perfectly. His nose had a prominent bump on the bridge that he might have been conscious of at one point, but it now suited him.
You shook yourself of those thoughts, but as you trailed behind him, following him out of the solitude you had known your whole life, you couldn’t help but think that this was the start of your love story.
