A Change of Perspective

I was not expecting so much attention on my latest Flatland artwork, as I´m writting my biggest post so far it´s about to hit 400 notes.

Thank you to everyone for sharing my artwork, following me and thanks to everybody leaving comments on them, I truly appreciate what you have to say about my work!

So, I wanted to write a little about my personal relationship with this novel. Although small, it did help me create a point of reference for my growth over these years.

I knew about this novel since 2016, after the 2016 Bill Q&A mentions Edwin A. Abott. Of course my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to figure out this world. I ended up falling on a 4th dimension theory and Mathematics rabbit hole.

Since a lot of conversations surrounding the book where around theories on the 4th dimension, rather than giving political comentary on the book. As it´s rediscovery was made in the year 1920´s, one could imagine why that was the case. For the most part, due to Einstein´s main interest being how Edwin A. was able to somehow predict the 4th dimension´s existence.

Thanks to this, I didn´t take Flatland´s themes into consideration, and just read a few chapters out of order.

July 2024, The Book of Bill releases. Once again, there´s a reference to the novel in one of the pages. And for old times sake I decided to revisit Flatland. Curiously it´s when I got recommended the 2007 Flatland movie to no end, I eventually, after a long weekend of College work, decided to watch it as I animated.

After that, I decided this time I would finally give myself the time to finish the novel. With an older and more open mind I was able to finish the book and understand it´s themes; critiquing bigotry and seeing the world through a whole new perspective. Makes me wish little me finished the book instead of taking its message for granted, could’ve helped get over some mayor denial I had back then.

I believe things happen a certain way for a reason, maybe it was for the better that I didn’t finish that book back then, at least it gave me the opportunity to better appreciate it :^]c

I hope this community keeps on growing. And I hope to see more people create more content for this interesting world!

what’s funny is that when i was infact arriving at my current school exactly a year ago, i was having a poppy playtime chapter 3 phase. at the time the fandom grew into a negative connotation because of personal person-to-person drama, and i backed away. i’m happy i’m able to look past that now though and enjoy something i love ^_^. woohoo growth!! 🫶🥳🎉

Support Hope and Haven for Refugees

With the international community turning their backs on Sudan, the responsibility of caring for refugees and IDPs has fallen to community based initiatives. One such group is Hope and Haven for Refugees (formerly Saving AlGeneina).

They have been working tirelessly to support displaced families across Chad and Sudan. Their programs help provide safe shelter, community kitchens, educational opportunities, and life saving medical care at their clinics.

Operating expenses for these programs are costly, especially for the clinics and kitchens. At Hope and Haven's medical field clinic, they treat at least 50 patients a day. They also offer mental health services at their trauma center, where they support children and vicitms of gender based violence. Across Hope and Haven's 4 community kitchens, they feed 1,000 children daily. To feed them, it costs $12,000 a month.

This work cannot be sustained without the help of donors like you. Maybe you don't think your money has much of an impact, but even the smallest amount helps. Just $12 is enough to keep one child fed for an entire month. And even if you can't do $12, your donation will stack with the contributions of others to have a bigger impact.

The main details I'm figuring out right now are

does Celebrimbor still die at Eregion - I don't think he's getting captured/tortured, but he could still die in the battle. On the other hand, he could probably survive by using Narya & Lomion using Nenya, but that would definitely have repercussions further down the line

how does Idril's deal work - I'm currently thinking of Idril exchanging the location of Gondolin for her family's guaranteed safety, because it seems in character for Reverse Idril? But on the other hand, even if I limit it to immediate family at the time of the oath (tuor, turgon, earendil) then idk where turgon dies? Maybe Maglor can kill him but that seems kind of random

where and how does Turgon die

how does Prince Elrond's character even work

how does Numenor still fall when factoring in Prince Elrond - I'm thinking that the morgoth death cult gained enough traction during the time sauron was there that even after Elrond kicks him out, the cult still sticks around and reemerges later? The Fall still happens, but they never go to attack valinor and there's a good deal more Faithful (maybe 40-60%?)
