[6 Images: First one is a cover page consisting of a photo of an armchair, a spooky wardrobe, and a portrait of a stern woman. Text reads "Five Haunted Houses and their Literary Descriptions." The rest are all just screenshots of text.
Image 2: Hill House. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. (para break) This house, which seemed somehow to have formed itself, flying together into its own powerful pattern under the hands of its builders, fitting itself into its own construction of lines and angles, reared its great head back against the sky without concession to humanity. It was a house without kindness, never meant to be lived in, not a fit place for people or for love or for hope. Exorcism cannot alter the countenance of a house; Hill House would stay as it was until it was destroyed. (The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson)
Image 3: 124. 124 was spiteful. Full of a baby's venom. The women in the house knew it and so did the children. (para break) Shivering, Denver approached the house, regarding it, as she always did, as a person rather than a structure. A person that wept, sighed, trembled and fell into fits. Her steps and her gaze were the cautious ones of a child approaching a nervous, idle relative (someone dependent but proud). A breastplate of darkness hid all the windows except one. Its dim glow came from Baby Suggs' room. (Beloved by Toni Morrison)
Image 4: Silver House. This house is bigger than you know! There are extra floors, with lots of people in them. They are looking people. They look at you, and they never move. We do not like them. We do not like this house, and we are glad to be going away. This is the end of our letter. (para break) Our new house had two big brown grids of windows with a row of brick in between each grid. No windows for the attic. From the outside the windows didn't look as if they could be opened, they didn't look as if they were there to let air or light in, they were funny square eyes, friendly, tired. The roof was a solid triangle with a fat rectangular chimney behind it. Lily bounced out of the van first and I scrambled out of the other side and crooked my arm so as to escort her to the door. The house is raised from the road and laid along the top of a brick staircase, surrounded by thick hedge with pink flowers fighting through it. (White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi)
Image 5: High Place. This house is sick with rot, stinks of decay, brims with every single evil and cruel sentiment. I have tried to hold onto my wits to keep this foulness away, but I cannot. And I find myself losing track of time and thoughts. Please, please. They are cruel and unkind, and they will not let me go. I bar my door, but still they come. They whisper at night, and I am so afraid of these restless dead, these ghosts, fleshless things. (Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia)
Image 6: The House of Usher. I know not how it was --- but, with the first glimpse of the building, a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit. I say insufferable; for the feeling was unrelieved by any of that half-pleasurable, because poetic, sentiment, with which the mind usually receives even the sternest natural images of the desolate or terrible. I looked upon the scene before me --- upon the mere house, and the simple landscape features of the domain --- upon the bleak walls --- upon the vacant eye-like windows --- upon a few rank sedges --- and upon a few white trunks of decayed trees --- with an utter depression of the soul which I can compare to no earthly sensation more properly than to the after-dream of the reveller upon opium --- the bitter lapse into every-day life --- the hideous dropping off of the veil. (The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe)]

Remember how, in the Touden party, everyone had to swap clothes when they changed races, since that was the only way they could feasibly find clothing that fit them in their new body types under such short notice?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kabru and Mithrun had to do the same thing, and for the same reasons. They had to swap the bottom halves of their outfits to be able to accommodate to their new forms. Normal enough, right?
Normal enough until you realize that Kabru is still wearing his armor, which looks inordinately large on him. Which begs the question: why didn’t they swap the top halves of their outfits?
It’s because…oh god, I can’t even say it with a straight face…it’s because Mithrun’s upper body is too buff to fit into Kabru’s plate armor. Poor Kabru has to lug that thing around like a huge metal circus tent because Mithrun’s too fucking jacked to fit into it himself.

i love it when a piece of media is like: is there anything more painful than knowing your sibling? is there anything more tragic than knowing they are the only person who will ever share the same experience as you? they were the only constant in your life. they were there since birth and now, no matter how they betray you, you will still love them. you will always feel the need to protect them even if you can no longer bring yourself to talk to them. will anyone else be able to understand? will anybody be able to love you and hate you and fear you the same way a sibling loves you and hates you and fears you? no, probably not
