It may depend on what is happening behind the scenes, and whether they think they need to deliver a clear message to Harry because they think he has completely gone off the deep end.

I don't mind admitting it, Camilla's PR had me fooled. Plus I was so fixated on The Harkles that I didn't pay attention to the machinations of The Chuckles. Better late than never I guess.

I don't know how it couldn't! I have loathed the woman since the 80's like I have loathed very few people in my life and even I gave in from time to time - never entirely, but I sort of grudgingly thought, well, she's putting her time in, doing some work (oh look! she's doing a book club!), keeping her nose clean - and compared to M, just polar opposites - I thought. I hate to admit it, but I was a little surprised that she completely came out after the Queen died. Like IMMEDIATELY after the Queen died. The knowingly laugh out loud kind of surprised - like, surprised, but totally not surprised. Annoyed at myself for ever falling for it. Now she's just exactly who she always was. She isn't even good anymore at hiding it like she did all those years. She's just right in your face with it now and totally gives no shits whatsoever. She's above all that.

I guess it's true when they say that people don't change. Which is depressing considering all of us like to give people in our lives a second chance.

There were rumors they were going to get an apartment there so they could work from NYC part of the time and be closer to London. However, they can't afford an apartment in NYC.

Here's what I think.

The royal fandom needs to have some fizzy adult beverages with umbrellas and chill out. Charles isn't perfect. Camilla isn't perfect. William isn't perfect. Catherine isn't perfect. Anne isn't perfect. Tim isn't perfect. Edward isn't perfect. Sophie isn't perfect.

They are all human beings, just like we are. They make mistakes. They have stressful moments. They grieve. They laugh. They get frustrated. They rise above gossip. They let gossip upset them. Just like we do.

Not a single one of us has ever had to walk a mile - or even one step - in any of their shoes. Despite living lives of extreme privilege by many standards, they also sacrifice the privacy and self-agency that many of us take for granted - and would hate to lose.

For many of us, royal watching and commenting - started as a fun activity and something interesting to do. The scope of the history of the British royal family fascinates millions. For many Brits, the monarchy is woven into the very fabric of their national identity.

THEY ARE DOING THE BEST THAT THEY CAN. The rift between Charles' second son and the rest of the family is unprecedented, in that the internet and social media fan the flames of dissension 24-7. It's a brand new monarchy, and they are stressed, and the Harkle bullshit isn't helping things. If those that care about the history of Britain and/or the British royal family vent any disappointments we have in this family's actions or decisions by attacking them ourselves, aren't we just doing Harry and Meghan's work for them?

Relax. Sit back and watch things as they unfold. There is nothing to be gained by throwing our hands up and saying we are done with Charles if he does X, or we will no longer respect William if he doesn't do Y. They will do what they need to do, when they need to do it, based on factors and situations that we may never know anything about. We are merely observers in this pageant, which used to be pretty fun to watch until all the omgwtfcharlesisweakandwilliamwontworkandcatherinehastoomanygreencoats posts.

William will likely have 45+ years in which to work his tail off as king, but right now he has little kids. We will blink and they will be grown. Let the poor man who was born into a destiny he 1) never chose but 2) has willingly embraced enjoy the fleeting years he has to be a loving dad! His parenting now will shape the future king, after all.

Have faith. The monarchy has lasted more than 1,000 years. I doubt that anything Charles does or doesn't do during his (likely) brief reign will destroy the institution.

Did people always pick apart the wales marriage or did it happen when Meghan and harry got together and started being clingy? I remember seeing something on twitter from their documentary that said 70 percent of the hate tweets were from 83 accounts and I feel like someone needs to do that when it comes to the waleses because how does a tweet taken out of context get thousands of likes automatically?🙄

oho, buckle up ladies. They've been picking apart the Wales marriage since 1pm on April 30, 2011. From 2011 - 2015ish, it was done on certain corners of the internet, like Kaiser's section of Celebitchy, and most people didn't pay any attention to it because it was such a tinhatty conversation.

The game changed in 2016ish, after Charlotte was born.

First, Charles's and Andrew's marriages imploded after the births of their second child with the blame falling on the women. These people basically said that why should Kate be any different and started going after her. There's a period of time after Charlotte was born, in late 2015 or early 2016, when Kate suddenly dropped a ton of weight, which these people interpreted to mean as there were problems in the Cambridge marriage that caused enormous stress for Kate and speculated that she stopped eating/kept working out. This chunk of time also overlaps with a period of time where Kate had some engagements with Ben Ainslie in which they were flirty and friendly with each other.

These bloggers/this section of the internet decided that William had cheated on Kate 2015/2016ish, Kate's overnight weight loss was due to stress from his cheating, and she retaliated by having a brief fling with Ben Ainslie. Elizabeth caught wind of this and forced the Cambridges into marital counseling because the monarchy couldn't survive another divorce. (One of these bloggers who believed and perpetuated this is now rather quite popular and is now considered one of the experts here on royal tumblr. I disagree with her take on this and stopped following her because of it.)

This section of the internet also believes that Kate would only forgive William for his cheating if he gave her another baby, which is how Louis came to be. It's very possible that this is the true origin story of the Rose Rumor since we know that Meghan was paying attention to the royal blogs when she was dating Harry.

Second, the other gamechanger in 2016 was, of course as we know, Meghan. Her fans brought a ton of toxicity to the royal fandom that was kind of a "safer in numbers" mentality where people like Kaiser who openly hated Kate and these other blogs who openly picked on the Cambridge marriage (like the bloggers who speculated about the 2015/2016 years) were enabled to speak out more, and more loudly, about the problems they perceived in the then-Cambridge marriage and Kate as a person.

So the "Kate haters" were now speaking as a louder group, which caused the "Kate defenders" to start speaking up and everything kept escalating to where it soon broke out into a fandom war with everyone choosing sides:

Anti-Kate because they wanted to marry William.

Anti-Meghan because they wanted to marry Harry.

Neutral but they're openly misogynistic and sexist about hating Kate.

Neutral but they really hate Meghan because they're closet racists.

Harry stans

Meghan stans (Sussex Squad)

Pro-William/Cambridge because he's the future king.

Anti-Harkles because they're not William and Kate.

Anti-Cambridges because they're not sharing with Meghan and Harry.

Diana stans

Kate stans (who I think are now called Wales Wailers)

The actual neutral middle who's just here for jewels and clothes.

Formerly "actual neutral middle" blogs who had hinky feelings about Meghan.

To answer anon's question about how a tweet could be wildly taken out of context for thousands of likes -- it's because of the fandom war and all these different sides.

IMO, the fandom war was never really resolved. Everyone mostly keeps to their "side" of royal tumblr now. Every once in a while a couple of them clash but it ends quickly and then everyone goes back to their corners. I think the pandemic, the lockdowns, and the lack of royal content because of lockdowns caused a lot of bloggers to chill out on Wales v Harkles - they either left royal-watching all together or found a new "thing" to focus on instead. (I have a theory about this but it's controversial.)

I know people in Monticeto and the rumors aren't true. They still live together and are apparently getting along They had a rough patch over the coronation. But they are not living apart or any of that nonsense. They don't let people see their home, they receive friends at a local hotel. .

The Harkles know plenty of people. Yes they aren't in with the top A listers (who are only a few dozen people in Montecito, most of whom don't even live there as their main residence). Pretty much everyone else local has kissed their asses and made them welcome. There are a couple Netflix big wigs in the area who regularly entertain them. Oprah recently loaned them her Maui home for a little jaunt. I wouldn't worry about their social life. It isn't what she wants, but most people would envy it. I don't live in Monticeto my cousin does. As I have said before my cuz has children at the same school as Archie (not the same grade, class or teacher). I know through her that they live in the community, are together, and participate in the community. Regular people like my cousin (married to a wealthy tech guy) don't hate her. She was so excited she nearly pissed her pants the first time she got to meet Haz. There are billions of people out there. Most are neither saints nor sinners, just people living their lives who don't strongly hate or love meg. And most of them get excited over any kind of celebrity. Of course, that's not who Megs wants as friends. But just because they aren't the leaders of the cool crowd, that doesn't mean they are frozen out and no one has anything to do with them.

People think this monarchy is unshakable and set in stone but it isn't. Nothing is. With a ballsy KCIII it could have been saved for William and George etc, but I am not sure. First Great Britain will fall apart then the Monarchy. I am talking about decades of time but it will happen in the next 50 years I think. One of those things definitely will happen in my lifetime if not both.

The Queen barely survived her silence after Diana's death but she did because she had served the country for more than 40 years at that point. I remember that. I remember the anger people had towards her that she didn't make a speech and lowered the flags on BP. But she wasn't the "new kid on the block", she had been the monarch for decades.

Yesterday I shared an article where an anti-monarchist group says booing or protesting against her wouldn't be beneficial to their cause. Can you imagine? You hate the monarchy but the monarch is so well beloved that you cannot protest against her. It's hilarious actually. But this is not the case with Charles. If Meghan slanders the Waleses during the documentary, especially if she projects her drug taking onto them, then I think the general public will see it for the lies it is (imo the media will create a huge storm around it for money and because they hate the Waleses, but that is another issue).

Like you said, if that does show up in the documentary, then I also hope that The King takes action against them.

I also think that in the end, this will harm the Harkles more than the Waleses (we have past history on our side with that belief. :) ).
