I know it’s too soon and it sounds like they have everything under control, but let’s say the worst happens and we suddenly have King William and Queen Catherine….

Yes, it would be sad yada yada, but how delicious to see the Harkles forced to bow/ curtsey to the new King and Queen in public. 

Markle would brave the humiliation to help her brand, but how humiliating for them to bow/ curtsey to their hated rivals.

Seeing Meghan have to grovel to William and Kate would be better than a free dessert with Costco-sized portions.

The humiliation she felt at the Queen’s funeral is going to pale in comparison to the humiliation she will feel at the King’s funeral. And when you think about it, The Queen’s funeral was three times the humiliation Meghan was expecting:

1. She (and Harry) were already in the UK which meant she was on a kind of lockdown that kept her from orchestrating the usual PR shenanigans she has become accustomed to when the BRF has major ceremonial events like this. She not only had ‘the firm’ watching her, but Harry was also there with her, in the same house, and she couldn’t just send him away so she could scheme in private (as she did every other time Harry went back to London without her, and notably for Philip’s funeral).

2. This “lockdown” also meant that she couldn’t go anywhere. No traveling, no parties, no nothing because of tightened security protocols, which means she couldn’t escape any of the criticism being said about her and Harry and she also couldn’t escape any of the praise Kate was getting...whom everyone was now calling The Princess of Wales while she was just ‘Meghan.’

3. It was made very clear that she and Harry were not welcome around the family, neither the main “branch” of Charles and Waleses nor the extended family. Harry wasn’t invited on the plane with William, but Andrew was. Harry wasn’t invited to Birkhall with Charles the night The Queen died to discuss transition. Hardman’s book all but says no one talked to Harry that night at Balmoral over dinner. Harry didn’t do the “family” walkabout at Balmoral with the rest of the grandchildren. The Sussexes didn’t get their own “meet the public and view the tributes” walkabout like the rest of the titled family members (minus the Yorkies). Charles called them ‘Harry and Meghan’ (no titles) and wished them well overseas in his first speech after The Queen’s passing. Harry wasn’t part of the Accession Council. Members of the public visibly and audibly refused to give greetings to Meghan at the Windsor walkabout. Harry had his ER revoked from his military uniform the one time he did get to wear it. Meghan was rejected by Camilla, Kate, and Sophie at the funeral - look at the gulf between them after the service when they were curtsying the cortege. No one spoke to them after The Queen’s commital service when they were waiting to leave but the staff.

It’s going to be so, so much worse when Charles passes. Especially if they’re in California (like when Philip passed) and all these negotiations are happening over much longer distances with much more time zones.

(And I do think Harry has some regret over The Queen and Philip’s passing - he “wasn’t told” they were dying so he didn’t get to see them one last time, which which probably made the trauma from Diana’s passing fresh again, and that’s why we see Harry making urgent plans to see Charles. This isn’t a knock against Harry; I missed seeing my own grandfather before he passed, the only cousin/grandchild who did, and the woulda/coulda/shoulda is very real so I completely understand. I do, however, side-eye his claims that he wasn’t told, because the signs were very, very obvious in both situations.)

A day ago I would have said no. Now I’m not so sure.

It may depend on what is happening behind the scenes, and whether they think they need to deliver a clear message to Harry because they think he has completely gone off the deep end.

The Harkles have been playing games with the courts and the media since day one and the powers that be have let them do it because everyone hates the tabloids and Piers Morgan and that crazy blond lady who had to go to South Africa, and everyone is getting clicks and views. That’s why they keep getting these softball legal rulings and no one digs into the merching money and the charity funds. It’s all good fun and no one thinks it can go too far, because they assume Harry and Meghan are rational actors.

But they are not rational actors. Maybe people are beginning to realize that. Maybe they are finally going to put a stop to it.

If this transpires, I hope Charles takes action and completely removes them from the RF and the LO S. plus it may be time to dust off the bullying report and publicise some home truths about the despicable duo. I believe this will damage the Harkles more than the Wales’.

I agree. If Meghan slanders the Waleses during the documentary, especially if she projects her drug taking onto them, then I think the general public will see it for the lies it is (imo the media will create a huge storm around it for money and because they hate the Waleses, but that is another issue).

Like you said, if that does show up in the documentary, then I also hope that The King takes action against them.

I also think that in the end, this will harm the Harkles more than the Waleses (we have past history on our side with that belief. :) ).

I don't mind admitting it, Camilla's PR had me fooled. Plus I was so fixated on The Harkles that I didn't pay attention to the machinations of The Chuckles. Better late than never I guess.

I don't know how it couldn't! I have loathed the woman since the 80's like I have loathed very few people in my life and even I gave in from time to time - never entirely, but I sort of grudgingly thought, well, she's putting her time in, doing some work (oh look! she's doing a book club!), keeping her nose clean - and compared to M, just polar opposites - I thought. I hate to admit it, but I was a little surprised that she completely came out after the Queen died. Like IMMEDIATELY after the Queen died. The knowingly laugh out loud kind of surprised - like, surprised, but totally not surprised. Annoyed at myself for ever falling for it. Now she's just exactly who she always was. She isn't even good anymore at hiding it like she did all those years. She's just right in your face with it now and totally gives no shits whatsoever. She's above all that.

I guess it's true when they say that people don't change. Which is depressing considering all of us like to give people in our lives a second chance.

There were rumors they were going to get an apartment there so they could work from NYC part of the time and be closer to London. However, they can't afford an apartment in NYC.

Here's what I think.

The royal fandom needs to have some fizzy adult beverages with umbrellas and chill out. Charles isn't perfect. Camilla isn't perfect. William isn't perfect. Catherine isn't perfect. Anne isn't perfect. Tim isn't perfect. Edward isn't perfect. Sophie isn't perfect.

They are all human beings, just like we are. They make mistakes. They have stressful moments. They grieve. They laugh. They get frustrated. They rise above gossip. They let gossip upset them. Just like we do.

Not a single one of us has ever had to walk a mile - or even one step - in any of their shoes. Despite living lives of extreme privilege by many standards, they also sacrifice the privacy and self-agency that many of us take for granted - and would hate to lose.

For many of us, royal watching and commenting - started as a fun activity and something interesting to do. The scope of the history of the British royal family fascinates millions. For many Brits, the monarchy is woven into the very fabric of their national identity.

THEY ARE DOING THE BEST THAT THEY CAN. The rift between Charles' second son and the rest of the family is unprecedented, in that the internet and social media fan the flames of dissension 24-7. It's a brand new monarchy, and they are stressed, and the Harkle bullshit isn't helping things. If those that care about the history of Britain and/or the British royal family vent any disappointments we have in this family's actions or decisions by attacking them ourselves, aren't we just doing Harry and Meghan's work for them?

Relax. Sit back and watch things as they unfold. There is nothing to be gained by throwing our hands up and saying we are done with Charles if he does X, or we will no longer respect William if he doesn't do Y. They will do what they need to do, when they need to do it, based on factors and situations that we may never know anything about. We are merely observers in this pageant, which used to be pretty fun to watch until all the omgwtfcharlesisweakandwilliamwontworkandcatherinehastoomanygreencoats posts.

William will likely have 45+ years in which to work his tail off as king, but right now he has little kids. We will blink and they will be grown. Let the poor man who was born into a destiny he 1) never chose but 2) has willingly embraced enjoy the fleeting years he has to be a loving dad! His parenting now will shape the future king, after all.

Have faith. The monarchy has lasted more than 1,000 years. I doubt that anything Charles does or doesn't do during his (likely) brief reign will destroy the institution.

Did people always pick apart the wales marriage or did it happen when Meghan and harry got together and started being clingy? I remember seeing something on twitter from their documentary that said 70 percent of the hate tweets were from 83 accounts and I feel like someone needs to do that when it comes to the waleses because how does a tweet taken out of context get thousands of likes automatically?🙄

oho, buckle up ladies. They've been picking apart the Wales marriage since 1pm on April 30, 2011. From 2011 - 2015ish, it was done on certain corners of the internet, like Kaiser's section of Celebitchy, and most people didn't pay any attention to it because it was such a tinhatty conversation.

The game changed in 2016ish, after Charlotte was born.

First, Charles's and Andrew's marriages imploded after the births of their second child with the blame falling on the women. These people basically said that why should Kate be any different and started going after her. There's a period of time after Charlotte was born, in late 2015 or early 2016, when Kate suddenly dropped a ton of weight, which these people interpreted to mean as there were problems in the Cambridge marriage that caused enormous stress for Kate and speculated that she stopped eating/kept working out. This chunk of time also overlaps with a period of time where Kate had some engagements with Ben Ainslie in which they were flirty and friendly with each other.

These bloggers/this section of the internet decided that William had cheated on Kate 2015/2016ish, Kate's overnight weight loss was due to stress from his cheating, and she retaliated by having a brief fling with Ben Ainslie. Elizabeth caught wind of this and forced the Cambridges into marital counseling because the monarchy couldn't survive another divorce. (One of these bloggers who believed and perpetuated this is now rather quite popular and is now considered one of the experts here on royal tumblr. I disagree with her take on this and stopped following her because of it.)

This section of the internet also believes that Kate would only forgive William for his cheating if he gave her another baby, which is how Louis came to be. It's very possible that this is the true origin story of the Rose Rumor since we know that Meghan was paying attention to the royal blogs when she was dating Harry.

Second, the other gamechanger in 2016 was, of course as we know, Meghan. Her fans brought a ton of toxicity to the royal fandom that was kind of a "safer in numbers" mentality where people like Kaiser who openly hated Kate and these other blogs who openly picked on the Cambridge marriage (like the bloggers who speculated about the 2015/2016 years) were enabled to speak out more, and more loudly, about the problems they perceived in the then-Cambridge marriage and Kate as a person.

So the "Kate haters" were now speaking as a louder group, which caused the "Kate defenders" to start speaking up and everything kept escalating to where it soon broke out into a fandom war with everyone choosing sides:

Anti-Kate because they wanted to marry William.

Anti-Meghan because they wanted to marry Harry.

Neutral but they're openly misogynistic and sexist about hating Kate.

Neutral but they really hate Meghan because they're closet racists.

Harry stans

Meghan stans (Sussex Squad)

Pro-William/Cambridge because he's the future king.

Anti-Harkles because they're not William and Kate.

Anti-Cambridges because they're not sharing with Meghan and Harry.

Diana stans

Kate stans (who I think are now called Wales Wailers)

The actual neutral middle who's just here for jewels and clothes.

Formerly "actual neutral middle" blogs who had hinky feelings about Meghan.

To answer anon's question about how a tweet could be wildly taken out of context for thousands of likes -- it's because of the fandom war and all these different sides.

IMO, the fandom war was never really resolved. Everyone mostly keeps to their "side" of royal tumblr now. Every once in a while a couple of them clash but it ends quickly and then everyone goes back to their corners. I think the pandemic, the lockdowns, and the lack of royal content because of lockdowns caused a lot of bloggers to chill out on Wales v Harkles - they either left royal-watching all together or found a new "thing" to focus on instead. (I have a theory about this but it's controversial.)

I know people in Monticeto and the rumors aren't true. They still live together and are apparently getting along They had a rough patch over the coronation. But they are not living apart or any of that nonsense. They don't let people see their home, they receive friends at a local hotel. .

The Harkles know plenty of people. Yes they aren't in with the top A listers (who are only a few dozen people in Montecito, most of whom don't even live there as their main residence). Pretty much everyone else local has kissed their asses and made them welcome. There are a couple Netflix big wigs in the area who regularly entertain them. Oprah recently loaned them her Maui home for a little jaunt. I wouldn't worry about their social life. It isn't what she wants, but most people would envy it. I don't live in Monticeto my cousin does. As I have said before my cuz has children at the same school as Archie (not the same grade, class or teacher). I know through her that they live in the community, are together, and participate in the community. Regular people like my cousin (married to a wealthy tech guy) don't hate her. She was so excited she nearly pissed her pants the first time she got to meet Haz. There are billions of people out there. Most are neither saints nor sinners, just people living their lives who don't strongly hate or love meg. And most of them get excited over any kind of celebrity. Of course, that's not who Megs wants as friends. But just because they aren't the leaders of the cool crowd, that doesn't mean they are frozen out and no one has anything to do with them.

Bower should provide context, if the talk of London was before or after the rumours on social media, a lot of Royal reporters are assh*les but even the bigger assh*les have said that the rumours were bizarre and that they tried to bring proofs and nothing, man even Lacey who hates the Waleses had said it’s false.

The important thing here is who was behind the rumour! And even if true, who wanted to put it in social media (and all the ways have always pointed the Harkles)

The person who STARTED the rumor said they were joking.

Here's the thing about the affair rumors: the royal reports wouldn't have sat on that story if they could find even a SHRED of evidence. One teensy, tiny, iota of evidence that suggested to them that it was true and they would have been off to the races. Even a reliable source saying "Yes, I heard through someone else that it's true" probably would have been enough.

But they didn't. They couldn't. Every royal report has come out and been like "I looked into the rumors, I came up with absolutely nothing."

The person who started it said it was a joke. And it was very clear to the reporters who checked with all of their sources across the UK that there was no meat in the story. It wasn't a "where there's smoke there's fire" story - it was just made up out of thin air for the express purpose of causing a stir.

William threatened to sue over the rumors, which, IMO, is another clear indication that they were false. William isn't litigious like his brother - he's taken legal action very few times, and each time was when it was a gross violation of privacy (Catherine's topless photos, phone hacking, reporters stalking George). He wasn't suing because someone said something about him or Catherine or George, he was suing b/c their right to privacy was grossly invaded.

If the cheating rumors were TRUE and he tried to sue, he wouldn't have a leg to stand on. You can't just sue someone because they say something that's true about you and it hurts your feelings. If the person got the information in a really inappropriate way (phone hacking, climbing in through the window and rummaging through his desk) then yeah - but repeating a fact isn't illegal.

BUUUT if someone *LIES* about you intentionally... then you can sue them. Because people can't just go around damaging your reputation for funsies. That's defamation.

And that's why it's so interesting to see Harry confirming years of tabloid rumors. He and Meghan kept saying "they wouldn't tell the truth to protect us, but they would lie for others" -- but it turns out, all those rumors they wanted the palace to refute are true. And the reporters knew that and have known that, because they're all keenly aware that you can't just run around making shit up about people that has absolutely no basis in reality.

After she was seen entering an eatery that Cameron Diaz and Benjamin McFadden were outside that was turned into a story about them dining along with Gwyneth who happened to be there at the same time. The reason Megan put out the story that they had had dinner together knowing it was completely false was to be able to then ring said celebrities in this case Gwyneth and Cameron, so she could apologise for the false press, and ask if they'd like to meet for a drink or a bite to eat somewhere more private and get to know each other. Also pulled this trick with Travolta (who quickly shut it down).Megan asked and got a list of WMEs clients who might be open to a mutually beneficial friendship contract, unfortunately apparently there were only 18 names all c-d list, real housewives/selling sunset types. In part that is a misunderstanding between Lady C and her viewers, in my opinion, in that her big spring reveal was the updating of her book on the Harkles and her interview with Dan Woottan on his new YouTube channel which was launching at that time.

The bullying/bot farm journalist reports were also published around then if I remember correctly.

People thought the reveal would come from the Palace.

We’re talking about two different things.

I used to watch Lady C quite a bit during pandemic days and off and on afterwards. Lady C has been teasing a big reveal for 2 or 3 years now and every time it doesn’t happen when she predicts it, she moves it to the next season. That’s not a misunderstanding by her audience. That’s Lady C moving the goalposts. She’s still doing that, now claiming that something is going to come out in the fall.

The incident that you’re speaking of, I don’t consider that a misunderstanding. I consider that misdirection. Lady C knows her audience hates the Sussexes and really wants their comeuppance. She knows that they hang onto her every word because she has “insider access” because she tells them she does - remember when The Queen passed and Lady C specifically said in a video that she had been authorized by the palace to reveal The Queen’s bone cancer diagnosis so Meghan couldn’t? - so when she teases a “big thing,” she knows her audience assumes it’s a palace action because she’s spent all this time since launching her YouTube channel telling everyone she has palace or family sources. She knows that about her audience, and yet she doesn’t do anything to manage or temper their expectations because she also knows she’ll lose her audience if they don’t think she has insider access/palace sources. That’s why she never told anyone what her big news was until the book was actually published and Dan’s interview actually released - because she knew they’d be disappointed it wasn’t The Big Takedown she’s been promising for 3+ years.

That’s not a misunderstanding. That’s misdirection. She knows she has no audience if she can’t string them along and she strings them along using the promise of palace sources confiding in her that something big is about to happen. So she keeps moving the goalposts to keep her audience around.

This would be a misunderstanding by the audience only if Lady C hadn’t been teasing palace or family sources all the while.

It’s both.

It’s bizarre how the Harkles keep whining about being mistreated and yet this is now the third book they’ve written/collaborated with where they abuse their relatives. Plus several interviews, speeches, podcasts and a whole documentary.

Wow Celta. Another day another drama. By now you would have seen the brouhaha over the photo kill of KPs Mothers Day photo. @ladykinrannoch has done a reading pointing at the insane MM. it probably put her over the edge that there’s over 46M views of a single photo of her nemesis.

Another reader on YT threw cards and talked about words and spell casting. All the nasty, vile and spiteful rumours were put out there with the vicious intent to literally kill Catherine. She says the Harkles are actually surprised and angry that Catherine is alive and put out a photo. And don’t be surprised if Harry showed up again in the UK to check if Catherine is really still alive. It’s beyond sick.

I will say this. I hope Charles is really pleased and happy with this result of his inaction against his vengeful son. Protecting Harry at all costs while bowing up artillery in William’s face. I hope Charles is a really proud father right now. So many lines have been crossed.
