I think stuff like beer pong would translate into being a matter of dexterity so Riz would be very really good at it. Not any specific associated skill check (though if it was any it'd be acrobatics I guess?? Which would make Fabian a FIEND at it. Oh or sleight of hand??) just dexterity. Dex plus proficiency maybe? But yeah, out of the Bad Kids Fabian and Riz are the best at beer pong so I desperately need a fic where Fabian hunts down the Ball to be on his team any time they play. Sitting on his shoulder sinking one after the other, doesn't even drink himself, Fabian drinks for him. (I think Riz drinks with his friends but not at big parties. Scary. Also he is small and cannot metabolise as much as other people so if he does drink at bigger parties then he stops way before anyone else does LOL.) If Fabian and Riz are on opposite teams however they get SO competitive. They love each other I prommy.

Oh also under specific circumstances Riz is not above cheating with mage hand (arcane trickster mage hand gets to be invisible and way better than the regular one). If everyone else is intoxicated enough no one will notice it's fine. Younger Riz is very honorable and hates lying unless it's in the pursuit of justice, older Riz needs drunk Fig and Fabian to shut the fuck up about apparently winning, I guess that's also a pursuit of justice in its own right. It's okay he's just being a good rogue.

Idk if people in the mericas play different drinking games (and I don't know that many anyway) but I think Gorgug would be really good at Flunky Ball. Something about Barbarians, maybe. Good con, advantage on initiative, higher movement speed. All that. Fabian is still better at throwing things at targets and hitting, though.

The game where you count to 21 that everyone calls a different thing so idk what to call it is for sure Adaine's thing. She doesn't drink that much but like she's good at this one. Kristen is embarrassingly bad at it. And beer pong. And flunky ball. And honestly flip cup. Kristen is bad at most drinking games and I love her for it. Speaking of flip cup Riz is a fiend at that one; Riz is good at most drinking games and also absolutely the guy in the friend group who drinks the least.

I have not forgotten about Fig btw, nothing super special to say about her in regards to previous statements because shes neither comically bad nor impressively good at any game I can think of rn but she is the person to miraculously convince a room full of teenagers who think they're too cool to play cringey little games to play never have I ever.

Anyway I think Kristen and Fabian are the most likely to throw up at parties because. Yeah.

maybe this is a "hot take," but it's something i genuinely believe is true. aphobes can broadly be sorted into 3 categories: the uninformed, the bigot, and the bully. there is overlap between all 3, and i'm sure there are some people out there who are aphobic in a fun new way that i can't possibly conceive of yet, but i think these categories are fairly accurate and helpful for an aspec to recognize.

the uninformed aphobe is what it sounds like– they either don't know anything about the aspectrum or they've been fed false information about it. this is the only type of aphobe that is ever worth engaging with, and only to politely correct them and point them towards resources that would help them broaden their understanding. i'll be completely honest though: you'd be pretty damn lucky if you managed to actually singlehandedly change their mind. if they're not receptive to your corrections, simply move on. it's not worth the headache. you at least gave them something to think about.

the bigot, in contrast, is absolutely never worth engaging with. the bigoted aphobe is aphobic simply because aspec people are queer and they hate queer people. terfs famously used (and still continue to use) aphobic rhetoric as a sort of gateway drug for transphobia. the people who will argue that aspec folks aren't queer are often the same people who despise us because they associate us with queerness.

the third aphobe is actually the most common on this website, i think, and they're the reason i'm making this post. the aphobic bully may know full well the fundamentals of the aspectrum, but they will simplify and misrepresent it on purpose in an attempt to make aspec people look bad. aspec people have long been "acceptable targets" of bullying on this site for a reason that is fairly obvious to me but one i haven't seen anyone else point out: aspec people are largely neurodivergent. it's really no coincidence that ace discourse and cringe culture peaked at around the same time– they were one in the same, and the treatment aspec and autistic people received were (and still are) damn near identical. portraying aspec people as cringey teenagers who watched too many cartoons and are just too socially awkward for anyone to love them or whatever... it's a sentiment thats existed for years and years now. it took me a while to realize it, but this is why so many "tumblr funnymen" and other assorted popular blogs were/are aphobes too– they've got egos the size of china but they know they can't get away with blatantly picking on autistic people. so they'll hide behind a guise of aspec exclusionism, something that's unfortunately viewed as a real and valid ideology for someone to have. even aside from the thinly veiled ableism, bullies are always coming from a place of insecurity and projecting it onto other people. i've found that a lot of the most vicious aphobes are people who are struggling romantically or sexually. you can see them post about it, you can see even in the most recent discourse so many of these people are deeply stressed and hurt from whatever romantic or sexual struggles they're facing. to them, someone being unconcerned with those sorts of things is almost offensive because it means so much to them. they read it as a challenge to their own allo identity. so, why not take out that frustration on the aspecs?

it goes without saying that the bully isn't worth engaging with, either. they want to rile you up because it makes them feel better about themselves. don't give them that satisfaction.

ONYX STORM REVIEW:

After 2 days of catching up on all the work I had postponed for the sake of reading OS, and organising my thoughts, I'm here with my spoiler free review of Onyx Storm. Please remember that these are my personal thoughts and opinions and you're free to agree or disagree based on your views

Rating: 3.25 stars

The Good:

The absolute lack of miscommunication between Xaden and Violet: This book is a gift for all those people who were annoyed to their wit's end by the repetitive stupid fights between Xaden and Violet in Iron Flame. They trust each other, communicate with each other and don't get mad about secrets. I was so pleasantly surprised

Ridoc: Ridoc went through such amazing character development, he easily became one of my favourite characters in the story. We saw him as only the comic relief friend till now but man, he shows such badassery in this book while still being his clown self. And, let's not forget his favourite dick jokes!

The Dragons: Anyone who knows me knows my favourite part about the series is Tairn and the other dragons. Love seeing my grumpy dad dragon, he's such a mood. We also have our sassy teenager Andarna to give him grief. I love all the moments Tairn started boasting about his lineage and his feat: he's such a dork!

Dain and Cat: I never truly hated Dain because I knew from Fourth Wing itself he never intentionally wanted to harm Violet. My only gripe with him was about breaking her trust and looking through her memories without her consent. But man, does he redeem himself. Needless to say, Dain is on my "need to protect" list. I really hated Cat in Iron Flame because she was such a stereotypical cringey evil ex and the way she attacked Violet was so crass and below the belt. She still has some shitty moments in the beginning of the book but she gets a lot better so much so that I want good things to happen to her in the next books. RY did a great job writing these two

Jealous Xaden: My o my was it a treat to see Xaden so jealous. RY fed us with those entertaining af moments. Read the book and you'll find out what I mean

Aaric: I was intrigued by Aaric in book 2 but he stepped up the game so much in this book. He is an amazing character and I'll throw hands if RY even tries to harm him in any way, istg.

The Bad:

Very mediocre worldbuilding: This might be just a timing issue, but the last fantasy book I read was the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson, and every fantasy fan knows the kind of world-building Sanderson does. Onyx Storm tries to introduce us to new places beside the continent, but it is not well done. We spend half the book in the Isle Kingdoms, yet they're not even mentioned on the map. They talk about routes to get to the kingdoms, but how am I supposed to follow them if you won't even mention them on the maps? Every Island has a god it worships and things go according to that but I think we could've had a little more information about them beforehand instead of being presented basic info right before we arrive at the next island. "We're going to said island, this is the god they believe in, here's a five point bullet lost of their customs"- NO, THAT'S NOT HOW YOU DO IT! Like I said, it might be because my last book was by Sanderson so my expectations were higher but the world felt so lacking.

Lack of Glossary: A glossary should be a must in every fantasy book, especially if you're branching out and diving deeper into worldbuilding. We are introduced to gods, islands, uprisings and groups of people we haven't even heard of before and we get hardly one or two lines about them in a chapter and then they are mentioned again 2 chapters later and we're supposed to follow. There were so many new names in OS, it was difficult to keep track of them after a while. I still don't completely understand who the Krovlan people were and what was their deal.

Lack of Basgiath: My favourite book in the series till now has been Fourth Wing and one of the biggest reasons for that was Basgiath. I loved that place and the way it felt an actual character in the story. That Basgiath charm is missing in this book. Basgiath is the biggest strength of this series, it's the reason why FW was so successful, the war college and it's deadly atmosphere, the challenges, the interpersonal relations, it was entertaining af. However as the series is progressing, it's turning into another typical romantasy involving young adults leading revolutions, making alliances, fighting wars etc. I started reading Fourth Wing because of it's setting and yet with each new book, we spend less and less time in Basgiath and it's just dampening my mood.

No real surprises: Let me be brutally honest- this book felt like a filler. Of course there are a few shocking moments with new information but it hardly hit the mark like the previous two books. There were no moments that essentially packed a punch. It's just a bunch of random sidequests to gain alliances which didn't up feeling all that meaningful because of worldbuilding problems. It also seemed like fanservice because of a lot of reasons but I won't mention them as they can be accounted as minor spoilers. Some characters died but it didn't feel impactful at all. It seemed more like Ry was just filling up the death quota because we can't have a book where no one dies

Violet and Xaden: Okay so here's the thing, I like both of them as characters and I think they make a good pair. However, I didn't ever truly feel the romance and this has been a problem since Fourth Wing. They have a shit ton of lusty moments but hardly any soft romantic domestic moments that make the relationship feel organic. I have always been disappointed by the lack of proper romantic development between these two. The problem in this book however is the dialogue- they felt so cheesy and downright cringe at times. Maybe show more and say less?? The way they keep saying nothing else matters as much and I know people are feral for how Xaden and Violet are ready to throw off the entire rebellion for each other but it irks me so much. Xaden, you are leading these people and you have accepted that responsibility. Stop endangering the lives of people you swore to protect because Violet might be in danger. She has other people to support her. Violet, don't get mad when people tell you your needs and wants will come second to Xaden's duty towards the people. He is their leader, he has to make those sacrifices, If you think that's unfair then find someone else to fill his position. You can't have the leadership position yet be each other's top priority. It might seem unfair but that is the right thing to do. I really don't feel like the two of them are fit to lead people. Agree with @thequietesthing's review about Violet's god level power feeling over dramatic and out of character at times.

The Ending: If any of you have talked to me about the book in the last few days, you'll know I'm frustrated af with the ending. It doesn't exactly feel like a well done cliffhanger, it's just plain messy. A bunch of unanswered questions to keep the reader confused and hooked for the next book but it just ruined the whole book for me. I have no issues with cliffhangers but the book should feel complete. The way Onyx Storm ended, it feels there were at least two more chapters that got deleted. It's just all over the place.

That was the review guys. I'll still wait for the next book to get published but my excitement has gone down quite a lot. I was expecting more of a Harry Potter style story where the main still occurs in the school/college itself but it seems like that isn't gonna be the case. I honestly believe this series should've been just 3 books instead of 5 but oh well, what can we say. Really agree with @justallihere and @justascrollingghost. We have almost the same complaints with the books lol P.S: The best surprise in this book: Broccoli, the kitten

“oh my god! this reminds me of this one tiktok, so this girl was like ‘i think i made the new booktok anthem—‘ wait i told you about booktok, right?” you paused after talking

“yes, yes, very weird. continue on!” your boyfriend said, smiling widely at you

“so basically, the girl was singing, ‘i’m looking for a new book boyfriend. billionaire. six five, brown eyes.’ and would go on and on with the song!! literally everyone made fun of her and she responded to a hate comment, but then a comment on that video was like ‘we love an unbothered queen!!’” laughing at the end of what you said, ponyboy hunching over, dropping the book and wheezing

since he’s a teenage boy, he picked up on your vocabulary very quickly, using words like ‘sigma’ ‘grimace shake’ ‘gyatt’ (but only to you) ‘rizz’ etc

once he was saying those words too much and his brother, darry, got annoyed and said, “pony… just, stop saying those words. please, i’m getting a headache.”

ponyboy thinks you’re the funniest person ever and even started using your vocab when talking to others or about something, and people would stare at him weirdly because they didn’t know what he was talking about, or what the words meant

you and johnny were outside, staring at the sunset together as a date

he was in your arms, feeling protected by you, you ran your fingers through his hair while the two of you were softly talking to each other

“i love you like how baby gronk loves livvy dunne…” you said with a smile on your face, knowing he’d think it’s funny and would laugh

he let out a loud chuckle, continuing to giggle multiple seconds after

then johnny sat up next to you, saying, “look over there!!” so you gasped, looking to where he was pointing

he lightly grabbed your jaw and moved it towards his direction, giggling when the two of you were making weird faces once you saw each other

you would always tell him that from your time, people would joke and do that gesture all the time but never in a serious way

he really loved the little diy gifts you would make him, telling him you would watch tiktok’s about cute cards to give your partner or friend

along with the pink bows you would put in your hair, sometimes asking him to tie them into your hair, telling him that coquette became back in style in your time

although others would stare at you on the street because they weren’t used to your style, you could care less

he knew you were so unique and perfect, so he would try to show you as much affection as he could to make you stay

SODAPOP CURTIS

he picked up on your words very quickly, specifically using the word ‘rizz’ a lot after you told him he had a lot

he began to call his brother, ponyboy, ‘ponygyatt’ because he thought it was funny

whenever one of his brothers did something embarrassing, he would tell them “your aura is decreasing. minus seven hundred points, darry.”

but he absolutely loved your sense of style, the way you would dress because it was from your time, but from his time, everyone wore denim and flannels

DARRY CURTIS

darry, your boyfriend, was baking a chocolate cake for you and his brothers

he was measuring the flour and cocoa powder, pouring them into the bowl

his back was facing you, your jaw dropped and eyes widened, you had a wonderful idea, and went through with it

“GYATTTTTT” you yelled, and spanked your boyfriend hard, on the ass

he yelped and you ran to the other room, him chasing after you, he caught up to you and grabbed you, spanking you too while you laughed

the two of you were out of breath, so you went back to talking like nothing happened, and darry wondered ‘how does she always manage to act like nothing happened..’ but in a funny way

so both of you waked back to the kitchen, going back to work on the chocolate cake dry ingredients

he never really picked up on the slang you used, him being an adult so he never cared much to use those words

plus he had a reputation to keep up, so he didn’t want to use those words but thought when you used them, they were funny

but you made his brothers laugh, and he really appreciated that

when you would help ponyboy with his homework if darry didn’t have the time, if you were confused, you would say something like “what the sigma is this bro!?”

DALLAS WINSTON

you were at your house, making roses made of pages of a book for dally, your boyfriend

then you heard a loud ring, it was your phone, you wondered, ‘who would be calling at this hour? it’s like… 2am, man..”

so you lay on your bed, kicking your feet while you thought about dally, picked up your phone and asked, “y/n l/n, what do you need?”

“mmm… hey baby, uh, i’m at the station right now. do you think you could pick me up? i’m sorry if i woke you up…” your boyfriend said

you gasped and covered your mouth with your hand, kicking your feet and nearly screaming at the thought of seeing your boyfriend, even though the two of you saw each other four hours ago

or when you quietly said to him, “why is that guy built like a discord mod…?” except you didn’t tell him what that was, so he had a confused look on his face and asked, “what…?”

you’d ask him if you were his skibidi alpha pookie bear, he would sigh but nod his head, repeating what you just said

he thinks you’re really fucking funny though especially if you have brainrot humor, no one besides him understands you and he loves that

TWO-BIT MATTHEWS

you and your boyfriend, keith, were at a store when you saw a couple making out

the girl looked young, too young, and the guy looked in his mid 30s, but they were acting very touchy and sexual

“erm, what the sigma..” you said in a certain voice, two-bit looking at you, shaking his head and sighing, trying to keep a straight face

then he couldn’t hold is any longer he chuckled and looked at where you were looking

he mumbled a “what the fuck…” squinting his eyes, blinking multiple times to see if he was seeing what he thought he was

what looked like a young girl full on making out with a guy who looked like he was in his mid 30s, you and your boyfriend looked at each other, eyes wide

then the two of you bursted out laughing, you unintentionally but loudly said, “bro is NOT a certified lover boy, certified—“ but two-bit covered your mouth, seeing the couple pass by you

once they passed and got to a certain distance, the two of you giggled to the point of your stomach hurting

when you started saying some slang from the 2000s, he picked up on it and started saying it too

when he started saying that type of slang around the gang, they had no idea what he meant and thought he was crazy

he even changed the lyrics to an elvis song into a ‘brainrot remix’ according to him

whenever he wanted to annoy someone because they wouldn’t know what he was doing or talking about, he would do a ‘shh’ motion, a finger up to his lips, then moving his finger to his jaw, tracing his jawline to his chin, which you taught him and called it mewing

he also did it when he wanted someone to be quiet, they would be confused so they would shut up

but when he picked up a bottle of alcohol, jokingly twitching and shaking, trying to act like he was tweaking, you said, “boy, it’s just alkahal!!” and he nearly dropped the bottle, chuckling loudly

STEVE RANDLE

“shh… i’m about to mew…” putting your pointer finger to your lips, moving it to your jaw, tracing down your jawline to your chin, doing the motion again but on the opposite side of your jaw

“the fuck are you talkin’ about?” a slight sense of concern in steve’s voice, people staring at the two of you as you walked down the street

he never really used the slang from your time, he thought it was funny but really stupid, so he never used it because he didn’t want to make people confused

he was a smart person, but of course people wouldn’t expect that because of the way he acted

besides that one time when he was with the gang, two-bit said something stupid, so steve said, “shut up you beta, you have a negative canthal tilt and a negative aura.”

they stared at him weirdly then all began to laugh, not knowing where he got those words from

but he loved your style, you had money but it was hard to find clothes from your time

“Hey,” he leans against the counter, smiling at you.

You glance over your shoulder and ignore him (again). 'This guy again?' You roll your eyes for what feels like the millionth time this week.

You should have listened to your friend when she said he’s going to keep coming by until you decide to accept going on a date with him or not.

It's been a never-ending cycle with him, but you can also admit that you're not completely upset over the attention he's been giving you… which makes no sense.

But, as you tell her, you like to make it fair by teasing him back.

You know, treat people the way you want to be treated, to which your best friend gives you the oddest look.

The more you think about it, the funnier it gets because he could say the most unheard of lines that come to him naturally, leaving your brain fried because no guy has given you the same attention he does.

But the funny part is when you use one of your lines on him, they leave him to be the quiet mess. It doesn't happen often but you can't lie, you love when it does.

"Same time next week?"

He crosses his arms and leans forward. "You know me so well."

You hum, clicking on the schedule to add him in. "I like to think I'm good at my job but sure."

"You're more than good."

You glance up at him from your lashes. "So, you keep saying."

"And I mean it every time, maybe more than the last." He lets his lips curve upward to smirk, loving the fact that he has your attention right now.

You avoid looking back at him, not wanting him to see the effect he has on you.

You wait for him to leave so you can focus and finish your shift but he’s making it harder for you to concentrate.

“Are my dazzling good looks distracting to you?”

You scoff, turning back to him. “You wish.”

And there it is.

“You know how much you flirt with me, you’d think you would have made more progress by now.”

“Oh, believe me. I’ve made the right amount.”

You roll your eyes and push your chair back. “Well seeing as it’s my lunch break-”

“Let me take you out.”

“What?”

“I- let me take you out.”

You furrow your brows. “I don’t know.”

“It’ll be to make up for all the flirting you pretend to hate.”

“Sounds tempting.”

“I knew it would. I’ll take you anywhere you want?”

“Anywhere?”

He internally starts panicking, thinking about how he’s barely got ten dollars to his name, finding the extra cash they left behind was worth a little more than he expected.

He’s lucky to be alive right now after all the surgeries.

Goddamn, greedy son of a-

“Here?” You dragged him to a mom and pop shop.

You stare at the sign with a soft smile. “Yeah, right here is perfect.”

“Let’s go inside then?”

He looks around, wondering why you brought him here.

“The usual?” Your favorite waitress, Dottie asks.

You nod with a smile as she leads you to your favorite spot in the joint.

“You've been here before?” Santiago asks, wondering just how long you’ve been coming.

You shrug. “A few times.”

“Seems like more than a few,” he teases.

“What can I say? This place reminds me of home.”

He nods, stirring the sugar into the coffee. “What was that like?”

You pause, wondering if you heard him right. “What?”

“What was your home like? Your childhood, cringey teenage years. I want to hear it all,” he glances down, stirring the little creamer he added to his coffee.

You pause, unsure of how to proceed here. “What- what do you mean?”

He glances up, catching your nervous gaze. “I want to hear about what you were like in your younger years.”

“You want to hear more?” You ask with a confused pout.

He nods, sipping his coffee.

You gulp, “how long do you have?”

“I got as long as you’ll keep me sitting here. Hence, the coffee.”

The corner of your lips twitch. “You planned on opening me up, huh?”

He nods, pinching his thumb and index finger together to say a little bit.

You cross your arms, narrowing your eyes at him. “You had this planned since you got in the car, didn’t you?”

“Maybe.”

You chuckle through your nose at his nonchalant behavior. “You just want to break me down and interrogate me, don’t you?”

He shakes his head, giving you his full attention. “No, I want to get to know you. Believe me, there’s a difference.”

You perk up in your seat. “Well then, Mr. Interrogator, why don’t you ask me a question and I give you an answer but only if you’ll do the same?”

He shrugs, “I don’t see why not?”

You smile, “good. Now…”

You two stay until your Dottie tells you they’re about to lock up, leaving you to drive him back to his friend's place.

“I had a good time.”

You don’t want him to leave.

“So did I.”

You glance away from him, unable to keep eye contact with him anymore. “I- can we do this again sometime?”

He smiles, loving how nervous you are and can’t hold eye contact with him. He leans in, cupping your cheek; his eyes switching between your eyes and your lips. “Can I kiss you?”

You take a deep breath and let out a quiet mumble, “uh huh.”

He leans in, leaving enough space for you to back out.

You cup his cheeks and pull him closer, practically over the gear shift. You part from the other to breathe. “Wow.”

“Told you I’d be worth it.”

You scoff and shove his shoulder, “and there goes all the progress we made this evening.”

He smirks, “I don’t think so. I think this just proved I’m able to keep up with you.”

You narrow your eyes at him, “get out before I kick you out.”

“That’s not nice to say to your new boyfriend.”

You let out a surprised scoff. “Someone’s optimistic.”

“I have one foot in the door, excuse me for being a little cocky.”

You shake your head, making sure he gets in before you take off.

The smile doesn’t come off your face for the rest of the evening.

Your cheeks hurt more when you look at your phone and see your text notification pop up and your best friend's name pops up before his text.

That Night In Prague Rant

Let me start off by saying Hannah and Toby's story was amazing and heartbreaking, Libby and Nash were also sweet and supportive of one another, Xander is awesome at giving emotional depth to others even in the strange circumstance of tackling, and Secret Santa was quite literally a blast. But there's one story I haven't mentioned yet, have I? You know which one since it's the literal title to this rant/critique.

To get the basic pleasantries out of the way, I loved the promise ring scene, the way Jameson admires Avery lighting up and wanting to see the world through her eyes, the fact he wrote her postcards, and Avery's protectiveness of him. That's it. Great. Now we can get to the real stuff. My dear Jennifer Lynn Barnes, when you announced this book back in February during the month of romance, I recall that this book promised to deliver on ROMANTIC stories and showing us how a Hawthorne man loves. Why the heck did you keep trying to insert every possible wink wink nudge nudge moment possible in Avery's POV then?

When she stated Avery was gonna have a POV again, I was excited but I wasn't sure if I should leap for joy. See, given how Averyjameson were portrayed in the last book, I was somewhat disappointed since I really wanted to see Avery through Jameson's eyes in a more romantic light. It was an eyeroll, unfortunately, and what a missed chance for a wedding dress ref in the race outfit scene since he gave her a promise ring.

However, people were saying, ah, it's Jameson, he's a teenage boy. And ok, I did bite my tongue after that because alright, that's just him (though I am still bitter about his lack of development in TBH), but that wasn't the case with Avery. She's my girl, I can always rely on her, right? Three books of build up with a pretty solid character voice made her who she became in TFG. Cool, I was ready to go back. And as I said so many times before, she gave Jameson depth which helped us see what so many did not and I loved how she didn't let him get away with certain things. She was sensible.

WTF was this then? This is not Avery Kylie Grambs. This is A Very Random Imposter (you come up with the anagram). Imagine my fricken surprise when out of nowhere Jameson As A Girl.

The crimes of the story: "after a lengthy and not quite G-rated negotiation" (WT actual F), "like his body wasn't tense in all the right ways", "smile of his made me want to do things", “I would let him demonstrate all the many, many reasons he had to be that smug", "His search had been... thorough" (????).

This sounds so cringey and unlike Avery. It felt like JLB was trying to force Max and Jameson and Rohan into her POV. Clearly after only two years of not being in her original character's POV and changing through 5 main characters (which was a horrible idea in the first place), she's managed to mish-mash her only properly developed character into sounding like another person.

The innuendos here are the worst I've seen. Avery has never been crass or sexually charged so why start that now? We already have characters that take on that route and now you're trying to ruin Avery with that? PUH-lease. Jameson was enough in TBH and now you're trying to ruin my girl? NO. Absolutely NOT. If JLB wanted to implement this in the og trilogy, then it should have been done earlier but no, Avery was never that girl and she shouldn't be now.

This isn't and cannot be listed as character growth in the slightest because if she sounded the same after a year in TFG post THL and also sounded like her normal self in Secret Santa which is in the same book as TNIP, there should be no reason why she sounds like this here. It ruins the continuation in her character POV which is something that at this point should be solid as stone. Not to mention, not everything works for everyone and that's ok. While I hate it, it makes more sense in Jameson's POV than hers. In Avery's POV, I cringe at it because it sounds so unnatural for her and feels like I'm looking at someone trying to fit into a crowd they just don't mesh with.

Three books solidified that. Why else did we fall in love with TIG in the first place? Partly because of who Avery was and who she became over the course of the trilogy. She stood out amongst the crowd. Did she have a similar way of thinking about puzzles like Jameson? Yes. Did she have a different approach to romance? Yes. Did she help Jamie become a more sensible guy? Yes! Was their flirty banter fun and interesting? Always. That's part of what made me love them so much in the first place but it shifted so suddenly that now they're sounding like Savannah and Rohan.

In October, when we had the preview of more chapters, I immediately noted this sounds like a very different Avery, either older or an alternate universe version of her. If she wants to do this with Rohannah, go ahead; they're a new budding romance so that has room for whatever she didn't use in other ones but leave Averyjameson as we've known them to be for three novels that solidified who they are. I know other romances should be given a chance, I never said that shouldn't be the case but if I'm being given the chance to see my favorite ship being in the spotlight, then do it right one last time. You have three books as your guideline.

Anyways, I'm dissatisfied so I will be doing a rewrite of TNIP since this is a shorter thing to take care of than a whole novel. Have a great day and thanks for reading. Fics will be out at some point, God, so much real life work to do.

Anyway here they are!!!!

It's a quick drawing of all of them, they don't belong to the same storyline tho, I created them to entertain myself, and it's a sketch like this because I actually draw them traditionally, not digitally. I draw them in my classes.

They're more like... introduced characters into DC universe??? As you can see second Luan on the right is WonderGirl, so...yeah, cringey.

But I want to share their stories because I love them!!!

If you don't care, you can skip, I already gave their designs right here, so knowing their stories is kind of unnecessary??? I put some photos ahead, so you can skip the text and go to the photos if you want to draw any of them and need references!

So, Natalya is actually just a normal teenager, daughter of Bruce Wayne, didn't really cared about her mother so... she's dead, I guess. Maybe a one night stand. I created her because I thought it would be cute for Damian to have a gentle, kind big sister figure? In that moment I wasn't into DC in general, so I didn't know about Cass and Steph, I only watched the movies.

But then I read the comics, and well, here's her lore:

So, she's very fragile, she gets tired easily, she gets sick easily, but as a kid, she really, really wanted to be a to do sports and all that to prove Bruce and others she wasn't weak. She knew Jason and was super close to him. Then Jason died haha. She felt alone, Bruce was grieving, Dick was grieving, she gets angry, she hates everyone, then Tim takes the mantle of Robin, Natalya hates him.

Like, really, really hates him.

Uhh... Idk if this is canon or not, because as I've said before, I'm not a Tim fan...

So, in this au Tim's parents die, Natalya feels bad, kinda tries to fix things, doesn't really work.

So she's been always trying to be loud and annoying to call others attention, but after this, she kinda quiets down??? And realizes that, well, sometimes listening is nice too, yk? I remember I had this scene where she's complaining to Alfred, like; why won't he forgive me!? I already said sorry! (She's a kid)

And Alfred tells her to, well, to kinda listen to others? Because all she's listening is herself; I already apologized, I already said I'm sorry, I'm right, you're wrong.

And well, ever since then Natalya kinda calms down and learns that, well, sometimes life is life, and that she never really had a passion for sports, she didn't even liked them she just wanted to be noticed.

She realizes that what she does like is playing chess with Alfred, and well, she joins the chess club of her school, once she's calmer and nicer Tim forgives her, they become close. Everything's going just fine...

And then Damian arrives.

But Natalya is super happy, she had a little brother! And she was going to be the best sister and give him all the attention and affection she didn't have when she was a kid.

At first Damian doesn't like it. Then he kinda does. Is nice to have someone caring for you, and Natalya is just...nice. she's the type of girl that likes to take care of others, and that really likes to do little gestures like baking sweets for you when you're feeling sick.

... then she dies. Yeah. Idk why I decided she would die. She just does.

Damian revives her with the Lazarus pit, because he feels it was his fault (something, something happened, Natalya covered him with her body, she dies). I really wanna go into detail but it'll be too long.

And when she revives she's kinda traumatized! But she's adapting. Besides, her body isn't as weak as it used to. I have this scene where she's running and she realizes; Wait, I'm running. I'm not tired. I'm not having trouble breathing. I'm running!!!!

So Natalya's kinda happy, I guess.

(she ends up with a bunch of scars and her left eye is grey now. She can't see with that one. She was shot. Multiple times. I like to think her scar have like this 💥 form.

Uh... second one is Luan(19)! I actually created her, again, while I was watching the movies; wouldn't it be funny if Damian had a twin sister? So that's where the design came from. Damian in the movies doesn't look like o picture him now tho 😭😭✋✋✋ anyway, her lore? Well, as Damian twin sister: she was trained, killed, revived, killed, revived, then she was poisoned with Joker Venom, but it kind of made her crazy, she tries to blow up the whole city, she realizes last moment what she's doing, she develops like...personality problems??? (Her real self and the venom self, kind of), she runs away.

She spends time trying to find who she is, then she returns to Gotham to end a criminal organization she created while she was a villain. She refuses to talk with the batfam because she feels to guilty, because well, she kinda tried to kill them all.

That's as Damian's twin tho. As a new Oc? Idk... she's a villain... that's it. I didn't really thought about her new lore. I just really like her design. I created a boyfriend for her, when I was redesigning her to be older and just a different person. She met him when she was fighting batman and Robin, and he kinda "saved" her ("saved' because she knew he was spying on her and pretended to be loosing to see what he would do). His name is Kairos. It means: a propitious moment for decision or action. I think it's pretty accurate.

Kate is my favorite. She's such a tiny little devil I love her so much.

Her real name is Lydia, actually, she lived with her mother, a drug addict, in crime alley. When she was three or so, one day she kinda got mad at her mom, a temper tantrum, and well, she had the bad habit of hiding while she was angry.

Well she hid under the bed and just then some bad guys appeared because, surprise, her drug addict mother owed them money.

They killed her...uhhh, warning, I guess:

⚠️ They kinda... strangled her. And I have this scene where the just put her against the floor, the woman is dying, and Kate is there, under the bed, and she can't do shit because, she's a damn toddler and is scared? ⚠️

She stayed there, hidden under the bed for a whole day, just in shock, before she ran away from her apartment and just... Idk, she just wanted to leave. She was panicking, alright?

The point is, Selina finds her.

Kate is in a state of shock and doesn't really react, so Selina takes her in and gives her a new name. Kate! Like kitten, get it?

So...

She's kind of a prodigy??? She's a smart ass, she knows how to build all type of machines and is pretty smart.

So she fixes Selina's little gadgets if needed, and Selina will buy her materials so she can build her machines.

There's more lore to her but, well, let's just say this is too long already.

She kinda gets traumatized. She's fighting for her life, she cuts her hair. She heals. She becomes a better person.

I REALLY WANT TO GIVE DETAILS BUT UHG, I FEEL LIKE IT'LL BE TOO MUCH.

Anyway here's the other Luan's lore:

She's WonderGirl, she was supposed to train with Diana but Diana decides she's not ready. She's too... brutal. She fights like boxing? You see those bracelets? They extent to her hands so they turn into big gauntlets she uses to fight. So yeah, violent. The thing is like she actually has fun while fighting. She'll be jumping and giggling, and well, that's not very...sane thing to do?

She grew up in Themyscira, by a secluded group of Amazons that just taught her how to fight, and how to be 'a good warrior'.

When Damian forms his Teen Titans team he kinda kidnapped her too (because let's be honest, he kidnapped everyone, lmao). Damian feels kinda related to her??? Because Luan is always sayin: a good warrior does this, a good warrior does that. And she's willing to die for 'her honor.' it kinda reminds him to how he used to be in the League.

I honestly created her because Jon and Damian were missing a wonder to be like, Batman, superman and Wonder woman. And then I kinda liked to think Damian and Luan would have something. Honestly? This is all Djinni's fault. God, did I hate her.

But uh, then I had this idea where she kinda gets lost in time and she kinda looses her memories and...

Yeah, I won't give details. You already know why. Too long.

Oh yeah, and she used to kill. Damian taught her not to!

Anyway, that's all, I'm so sorry for my rambling, I just had to share them because I love them so much. 😭😭😭

my controversial tig opinions

(not in any specific order)

we shouldn’t be shipping lyra and grayson yet. they barely know each other and we barely know who lyra even is. there is so much fanfic and headcanons for them, even though they are practically strangers.

avery isn’t boring! she’s an intensely deep, complicated character who many can relate to, which doesn’t often happen with main characters in these kinds of stories. she’s just a teenage girl who’s been dealt a bad set of cards, which is both very realistic and engaging.

max is hilarious. I’ve seen people say she’s cringey, but they are simply wrong. she’s charming, sarcastic, and I love her fake cursing. I will accept no max hate.

libby and nash is an underrated ship. they’re so adorable together and they’re complete opposites, which is what makes them so good together. goth x cowboy, who could’ve expected that? similarly, stop sleeping on nash! he’s responsible, he’s a gentleman, he’s a feminist, he’s a great guy.

xander's trauma is so overlooked, it makes me sad. he thought everyone hated him for his entire life and people are still thinking that he’s just the happy go lucky funny guy.

eve doesn’t deserve forgiveness. idc about a redemption arc, she is a bad person. I’m not the biggest grayson fan, but I’m on his side in this scenario. she had no right to abuse him like that.

alisa ortega is hispanic. this is how i imagine her, especially since her last name is spanish. people who fancast a white woman as alisa or draw alisa has incredibly light-skinned are portraying her wrong. everyone is allowed to envision characters how they want, but I think this one is obvious.

in the beginning, rebecca was annoying. she has gotten better over time, but at first, all she did was whine and cry and be angsty. I’m glad she’s found love and has grown into a strong, resilient young woman.

how does one become free of insecurity? i’m already doing therapy but i feel i’ve only moved away from hating myself so much i want to d*e into just thinking everyone’s better than me

It's a long journey, but well worth it.

I don't think anyone is ever truly free of insecurity, but I think there's also a lot that is unpacked simply through the language we use to describe ourselves and the jokes we allow other people to make at our expense.

Therapy is great at helping you deal with the big feelings, but sometimes little things get caught in your head and it's hard to shake them. Here are some things that I do to keep myself feeling good, and also some things that I'm working on:

No suicide jokes. I make it a point never to joke about "oh I'll just kill myself" or anything like that because ultimately it just makes me feel worse and nobody finds it funny. It's also a good way to change your thinking and direct your solution brain away from "I'll just end things when shit gets hard." This one is a constant battle.

I compliment myself whenever I have the chance. I take every compliment someone gives me. I pretend to be vapid and self-absorbed. I make kissy faces at myself in the mirror. I tell other people how pretty I am, and I don't fucking care if they think I'm a stupid bimbo because I'm trying to love myself and that's more important.

Being kinder to my younger self. This one feels weird but I found myself being mean to little Ghoul when I was really sad. It feels easy to take out your anger on a kid that didn't know any better, and it doesn't guilt you because that's you that you're hating. But look. You were just a kid. You weren't stupid or ugly or unlovable or evil, you were a kid. I just caught myself calling my teenage self ugly the other day on my way to visit my mom and I had to stop and go "why am I saying this? I was just a kid." And it made me cry a li'l bit ngl, but if felt... idk it felt good in a way.

Don't let fucking anyone tell you, you're not worth it. Does your friend make jokes about how dumb you are? Or how you're so cringey? Or so embarrassing or bad at something or forgetful or WHATEVER? Yeah, fuck that noise. Tell them to stop doing that. Tell them it hurts your feelings and if they still don't stop they aren't your friend, they're your bully. I fucking hate bullies. Don't let anyone talk down to you, I don't care if it was a joke at first, it's not funny anymore. Fuck them.

This is something I'm working on, but when you start fixing one insecurity another will probably pop up. I've been working for a long time on liking how I look, and it's gone really well. But now I'm insecure about my intelligence. So I have to stop myself from calling myself stupid or not answering questions. I just fucking rocked my work trivia party, and Mr. Ghoul thinks I'm smart, so I just gotta keep track of my wins. Sometimes you realize that making yourself secure in one thing makes you insecure about another, but that's ok! There's a learning curve to all of this.

Everyone thinks everyone else is better than them. You don't have to be the best at everything, you don't even have to be the best at one thing! What's important is that you're doing your best. People notice when you're working hard, even if you're not churning out the best product because it means you care about it. Which brings me to

Done is better than perfect. Sure it would be great if you were God's most specialist soldier, but think about how much work that would be! Ok so you're not the world's best knitter, but the scarf you made your friend is their favorite scarf anyway because you made it. So you're not a world class writer, but you had a story in your head and you wrote it down. That's better than it never being written at all. Also just because you think it's bad doesn't mean other people won't think it's a masterpiece. Hell, half of the fics I wrote when I first started this blog I could write better now but that doesn't make them bad, it just means I've gotten better.

We as humans are constantly improving and evolving. Don't let who you are no stop you from striving towards who you'll be in the future. Taking one step down the path towards loving yourself is better than giving up and hating yourself forever. It's slow going, but man I've been doing this shit for a decade and I'm so much happier than I was at 18.

You might think that the more you improve the harder and faller you'll fall back to the bottom, but the lows don't get that low again. You're doing great. I'm proud of you.

Colby and I have been dating for a couple months. We’ve talked about telling the internet about our relationship, but we’ve been too nervous and apprehensive. We finally decided to do it, and I am super nervous. But it’s not like I need anyone’s validation. I just don’t wanna deal with jealous bitches on the street. I also don’t wanna be seen as “Colby Brock’s girlfriend.” I love him, but I’m my own person.

I’m laying on Colby’s soft bed and staring at the ceiling. I hear Colby walk up to the door and open it. “Y/N?” he asks. I let out a grumble, which prompts Colby to sit on the bed with me. “We don’t have to do it if it’s gonna bother you?” Colby says comfortingly.

I sit up and shake my head. “It’s not going to. I don’t want it to ruin everything,” I explain. Colby nods his head and plants a soft kiss on my cheek.

“Come on, let's start filming,” Colby says, pulling me out of the bedroom.

The video has just been posted, and me and Colby are sitting on the couch cuddling. “Well there goes my individuality,” I joke. Colby lets out a soft chuckle.

“It won't be that bad. I’m sure the fans will find a way to understand,” he responds. Colby’s phone dings, and we look at each other. That ding is soon followed by another. My phone even starts buzzing. We finally look away and check our phones.

My inbox is filled with varieties of comments about Colby and me. Some cringey teenagers saying, “COLBY IS MY MAN! BACK OFF!” Which doesn’t bother me too much. There’s a ton saying, “Y/N’s so pretty! She looks exactly like Adriana Lima.” I’m flattered by those comments, and my stomach feels light and fluttery with butterflies. Those butterflies quickly die and smash into the ground when I see the DMs sending me death threats.

Colby must’ve seen the look on my face because he pulls me into a tight hug. “Y/N, it’s okay. They’re just jealous teenagers. They only say that shit because they know they don’t have a chance with me,” he says.

I break away from the hug and pull our lips together. Our lips brush against each other softly. Colby's lips are soft and fit perfectly with mine. We break away the kiss and shyly look at each other.

Colby and I grab our phones and look at more DMs and comments. One of the comments says that we should do a Q&A. That sounds pretty fun. If the fans get to know me more, they’ll probably accept me into their society. If not, I don’t need them. Colby is more than enough for me.

“We should do a live stream and let your fans send Q&A questions,” I suggest. Colby sets his gaze on me and nods hesitantly.

“Honestly, anything to get away from these comments,” Colby complains. He runs to grab all the stuff he needs for a live stream. Once he’s got everything, Colby sits down again. He pulls me into a powerful embrace. “You’re amazing. Don’t let these people get to you,” he says.

I pull out of the hug and grab his jaw carefully. “I’m strong. I got this. I’m just happy to be with you,” I state as a smile slides onto my face. Colby smirks at me and goes to start the live stream. His hair falls into his eyes, creating the perfect image of that sweet boy I love.

“Hey everyone,” he says nervously, “This is my girlfriend Y/N, as you all know.” He turns to me, and I smile and wave at the camera. “We’re doing a Q&A so you can get to know her, which is posted on my instagram,” he adds. He drapes his arm around my shoulder and pulls up the questions on his phone.

“Charliethe3rd asks what do you see in Colby Y/N?” Colby reads aloud, teasingly raising his eyebrow at me.

“Honestly, I’m only dating him because he hasn’t had a girlfriend in years. I call it pity-dating,” I tease. I quickly burst out into laughter.

“Fuck you! I’m so hot I could pull anyone!” Colby fights. I laugh at him, and he starts to laugh too. This is pretty much a representation of every time Colby and me talk.

“Anyways,” I say, “If I’m gonna get real, he’s super charismatic. His energy radiates when he walks into a room. He has the most contagious smile, and his face crinkles when he laughs, which melts my heart.” Colby stares at me in awe, and his face turns pink. “Blushing?” I tease.

Colby clears his throat and says, “bendover69 asks.. I’m sorry, but who the fuck names themselves that?” As we answer questions and talk, time blurs together, and we’re both exhausted. We decided to answer one last question.

Colby’s face turns red when he reads the question. He lets out an uncomfortable laugh. “Uh.. kayleighlikescats asks, have you guys had sex?” he says. Colby and I look at each other. We haven’t, and it’s not like we have to. I might wait until marriage.

“Uh. Not your business,” I laugh. I read the chat that was begging for answers.

“Guys, neither of us is required to say that,” Colby states. I shake my head and laugh a little.

“If you guys are SO desperate to know, I’ll tell you. Even though you don’t need to know, I’m thinking about waiting till marriage. I’m my own person,” I answer.

We end the stream and cuddle that night, happy to have the world know I’m his and he’s mine.

I reread some parts from Reckless by Lauren Roberts and oh my god, i'm just realizing how bad the book is. Which is shame bcs i really liked Powerless, i finished it in a day, Reckless is not it though. Back when i read it in july, i knew i didn't like something, something was lacking..it turns it's a plot that's lacking. And i MEAN it. It is literally nonexsistent, because tell me why i just read (reread but whatever) 400+ pages and..nothing happened. SAME. CONVERSATION. EVERY. CHAPTER. it was basically romance novel, bcs there was barely any fantasy elements in the book. The banter i loved in powerless, even though i thought it was a little too much, but the "banter" in reckless just made me cry. So many cringey scenes...atp i don't think Paedyn and Kai have any kind emotianal connection whatsoever, Lauren rlly wants us to believe they have, but respectfully, all i see and sense is lust, they're lusting for each other. I mean i get it they're both attractive, they're teenagers with increased hormomes..BUT IT MADE PHYSICALLY ILL, to watch them edge over each other every single chapter, i was like atp just fuck. Also..the amount of times words "sticky" and "pretend" were used..i could tell the author REALLY liked those words, because for the love of god use some kind of synonym please.

Everyone hated Kitt's pov, for it was opposite, whenever i saw Kitt's chapter, i jumped from happiness because he was the only who coukd save me from the second hand embarrasments i got from Kai and Paedyn's chapters.

Somewhat i felt bad for Kai, but it was just like..he was literally taking this girl to the king..what did he expect..? That Kitt would be like "omg you brought me Paedyn, the killer of my father, you can runaway with her now, marry, have kids, hea" WHAT.

Also i've seen many Kitt haters, but i personally think he is the only interesting character in the book. His hater don't even want to understand his position, and where he is coming from. (I find his sitauation kind of similar to Ezran's from tdp) they be like "oh he never let Kai be happy with Paedyn and he made her his betrothed i hate him sm..yadayadyara"...he was manipulated and betrayed, why is everyone ignoring that fact? He trusted Paedyn, literally opened up to her, and she used him and killed his father, i understand the whole situation with Edric and Paedyn's father, but still, HE DOESN'T KNOW THE TRUTH, and srsly how do you expect 18-19 years old to react to what happened by the end of powerless?? He is really misunderstood.

Oh and Paedyn, i rlly didn't care about her. In powerless i felt connecter to her character and my heart broke for her at the end of the book. In reckless i couldn't care less about her. No character growth whatsoever.. she was suppose to hate Kai..but at the same time she wanted to fuck him..(which same but..)
