Dems have been asleep at the wheel for so fucking long it’s shocking to see them actually make smart political moves that voters like.

The same party that tried to gaslight us into thinking Joe Biden was the only possible way to beat Trump, is now dragging its nutsack over the Republican Party with this new ticket.

We’ve all been so conditions by the dem’s Ls that it’s actually insane we went from being certain of a Trump round two, to possibly the first female president and a VP who passed progressive legislation with a slim majority. Not just saying that he “supports” it, ACTUALLY FUCKING PASSED IT.

I’m trying not to be 100% coconut pilled because politicians will not save us and are still obstacles, but it’s been so long since I’ve seen politicians actually act like they care about their constituents. 

It also reminded me that first and foremost politicians need to earn our vote and remind them that it’s the people that they serve. Now that Joe Biden is out of the picture, the whole song and dance of “YOU HAVE TO SUPPORT HIM!!! WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE TRUMP INSTEAD????” is such an ugly way of treating your voter base. Like that rhetoric was so disgusting and embarrassing. To be told that if we want to keep our rights we needed to be good little voters and vote for Genocide Joe because he was the best the dems could do.

Americans have been so beaten down by the state of our political landscape that it’s really refreshing to see some energy injected back into everyone.

It’s also been great to see the republicans in a tail spin because the culture war bullshit is finally back firing on them. All it took was establishment Dems to go on the offensive and call out how fucking creepy they are. They’ve been talking for YEARS about wanting to inspect kids genitals and now are trying to say that the guy who wants to feed children is radical. This also just shows that trying to go center with republicans IS ALWAYS A FUCKING STUPID IDEA!!! I was honestly bracing for her to pick Shapiro, the Zionist centrist pick, and was shocked she actually picked a guy that speaks true to the “not going back” message Harris is campaigning on. 

As someone who does care a great deal about America and all the people living here, it’s been nice to not feel in 24/7 crisis mode about the fate of the USA.

i think there's way too many nihilistic takes in hasan's community that i just cannot get behind. like, i don't even want to get started on the fallacy that so many in his community fall into of "the US has lied and spouted propaganda to demonize another country, therefore i shall go so hard in the other direction that i start believing propaganda from the other country" (yes, there are people in his community that believe that north korea is actually a utopia, and everyone saying otherwise are influenced by US propaganda psyops)

or the whole idea that not voting for kamala harris will somehow spark change in the democratic party and create reform to leftism, as if we haven't seen the repercussion of allowing the political spectrum shift more and more rightwing by voting in rightwing politicians. sorry, but the human rights and livelihoods of women, lgbtq people, poc, and those in other countries suffering because of the US's militaristic foreign policy is NOT worth sacrificing 4 years to just because you think it'll ~spark change~ (it won't spark change, it'll just get worse and shift the political compass even further right)

but i am more sympathetic to those ideologies rather than

"actually it's okay to be friends with maga folks and pat them on the back for their trump paraphernalia :)"

because i do think apathy towards the harm of rightwing ideology is more harmful than nihilistic or extremist leftism

(although it is worth it to say that nihilistic leftism is also comparable to rightwing apathy, like not caring about the harmful repercussions of a trump elect)
