My favorite theory is that the real Gregory meet Cassie at her birthday party, but got infected with glitchtrap that same night. While playing videogames with Cassie to celebrate her birthday. Reason why Cassie is so attached to him AND hasn’t suspected his sudden changed behavior. As far as she knows, he’s just like that

that's actually a pretty valid theory! i can see how very plausible that is and would make sense to why greg does still remember who Cassie is in ruin while also having GGY spending a big chunk of time pretending to be gregory around her in the upcoming e-book

but also its so goddamn sad like what ya mean they really did started out becoming genuine friends but an entity not only stripped away this poor boy's agency and autonomy but also strained the friendships he couldve had and destroyed the bonds he couldve formed with them and said friends got hurt and felt betrayed by him but they didnt know any better either
