Hello Celta, I hope you are well. Fascinating cards re Harold and Meghan. I can see him firing blanks and that she would produce faulty eggs.
I recall reading sometime ago that either her grandparents or great grandparents were closely related, uncomfortably so. It does explain some of her physical characteristics and perhaps mental state.
Given that the cards are adamant that H is not the father. I began to wonder at his parentage. He does resemble James Hewitt and the Pembroke chap.
My question: Is he Charles’s son?
If he discovered that he was not Charles’s natural son, it would explain his vengeful act in introducing extraneous genetic material into the Windsor bloodline. He could possibly destroy the bloodline if anything untoward were to happen. Perhaps that’s the hold he has over Charles?
Would be curious to know. Thank you and big hug!
Hi Random-Thoughts-And-Jottings,
I did do an ask on this some years ago and the man that came up in the answer could have been King Charles, so at the time I took it as King Charles. I can ask again and see if I get a more definite answer.
Personally, I don't think Harry has the intelligence to perform an act of vengeance like that. For me, if he has interfered in the line of succession, it would be because of a reason like 'I wanted the benefits of having kids (have them to increase my status, get a bigger house etc)' - something that is of direct and obvious benefit to him, right then and there. I don't think he has the subtlety for anything else.
Big hugs back to you! :)

if we began a lore of all the songs that fit the "taylor as Elizabeth to harry as burton", we'd have an entire album
We are well on the way with songs that directly refer to them even:
Blank Space
Tumblr media
The passion and opulence in the music video for Blank Space is very Liz and Dick coded. This post goes into detail about that. Taylor also filmed part of it in Winfield Hall (Woolworth Estate) in Glen Cove, even though it’s the least used location (than nearby Oheka Castle) it’s the one Taylor chose to highlight they were filming in the BTS. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton had their first Honeymoon in the now demolished Pembroke Glen Cove, less than a mile from Winfield Hall.
Wildest dreams
Tumblr media
It’s well documented that the wildest dreams music video references Burton and Taylor and their second honeymoon in Botswana.
Ready for it..?
Tumblr media
Need I say more?
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
Tumblr media
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf stared Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in the film adaptation of. It is about an unconventional marriage. The couple drink too much, are unfaithful/are open and hurt each other emotionally.
The Tortured Poets Department
Tumblr media
This is a little indirect but the mention of Dylan Thomas reminds me of Richard Burton, he famously read Dylan Thomas’s work, they were both Welshman and the above highlight is from a book about Burton and Taylor, Furious Love, which Taylor has posted a well read copy of.
There are more indirect references:
Style, Question..? & Gold Rush all paint a picture of a similar relationship
The Archer’s “All my hero’s die alone” always brings Elizabeth Taylor and the sad ending for Burton and Taylor’s relationship
Peters “sometimes it gets me, when crossing your jet stream” is both very Haylor and Liz & Dick
Modern day Elizabeth Taylor
And a chance to use this, I sadly can’t find it anywhere but ProQuest but it’s from the Sun Newspaper in 2012 the day after the Central Park photos: “MAKING HAYLOR: TAYLOR Swift really is emerging as a modern-day Elizabeth Taylor without the actual weddings, isn't she? The country singing lass has notched up an impressive list of ex-boyfriends in her short 20 years, and is now stepping out with Harry Styles.”

Power, Coercion, and Seduction
One of the most bizarre popular interpretations of The Patriot for me is the idea that Colonel Tavington forces Benjamin Martin to become involved in the Patriot war effort when he targets his family. This reading presents Martin's violence as merely a reaction to Tavington's choices. What it overlooks is not only that Martin has agency, but he has more than anyone else in the story. That agency should come with some responsibility; instead, all responsibility for Martin's violence within the narrative falls on the shoulders of a man who has to ask his general for permission to terrorize civilians in the film's third act. For all the pearl-clutching over Tavington killing surrendering soldiers first, he is also the only officer in the film to take prisoners, which only happens because General Cornwallis ordered him to give quarter. Do we not think he would have been torturing civilians for information about The Ghost before the militia was even trained if Cornwallis had allowed it?
People often use Tavington's desire for power to contrast him unfavorably with Martin, but Martin has no lack of power to produce a craving. Colonel Harry Burwell gives him orders when he puts him in charge of the militia, but he follows or does not follow them based on his whims. He allows his men to murder surrendering soldiers until his son and subordinate calls out his hypocrisy. His orders are to target supply trains, but he uses his force to rescue his own children and attempts to do the same for his friend, John Billings' family. When they fail, he gives his men a week's furlough and marries off his son, all while the Continental Army is planning a major engagement with the enemy. Either Martin has extremely poor communication with the Army, which the film never addresses, or he is simply a law unto himself. While Tavington languishes in impotence because his general will not allow him the brutal tactics that ultimately prove so effective, Martin is riding around doing exactly as he pleases, the Ron Swanson of the American Revolution.
He even makes plans to leave on the eve of battle after Gabriel's death, and all Burwell can do is plead with him in the words of his late wife to "stay the course," that his men need him and . . .
That's desertion, Harold. If one of your Regular officers tried that, you'd court martial him. Clearly, no one can make Martin do anything he does not want to do, least of all Tavington.
Since Tavington actually is subject to the authority of his superior officers, he is reliant on seduction and manipulation to get what he wants. In the case of Cornwallis, he offers the general glory free from consequence, a tall order that he definitely cannot fill . He gets what he wants from Captain Wilkins, who is under his orders, not by threatening him but by appealing to his desire to save face. Wilkins said those who stood against England deserved to die traitors' deaths; Tavington frames himself as giving him the opportunity to prove it, and it works. Burning the Patriot civilians in Pembroke Church is Wilkins' choice like granting Tavington carte blanche is Cornwallis's choice.
Coercion compels a person to do something against their desires; seduction gives a person permission to act on desires already present. When Tavington murders Thomas, he does not transform Martin from a pacifist to a man for whom violence is the only option in that moment. Martin already has a stockpile of weapons in waiting. He knows exactly where to find his French and Indian War buddies, and he has better battle plans than any of the Continental generals. When it comes to violence, Benjamin Martin stays ready.
I would argue that killing Martin's sons is an act of seduction as well as an incitement to violence, but as is the case with the other two men, these acts have only as much power as Martin gives them. The face-off in which Martin tells Tavington "Before the war is over I am going to kill you" and Tavington replies "why wait?" represents another attempt on Tavington's part to seduce Martin into violence, but this time he fails. In a later scene, cut from the theatrical release, he tries and fails to seduce Cornwallis into assuring his reward, and the two scenes share striking visual similarities. Both feature over the shoulder shots that position the two men far closer than they need to be for the purpose of conversation. The scene with Cornwallis is more on the nose. Tavington's shirt is open, his hair is loose, the orderly leaves without bidding as the two draw closer, almost as though similar scenes have played out between them recently that had very different endings to this one. But there is no lack of heat between Martin and Tavington at the gate of Fort Carolina, particularly compared to the single seduction scene that actually precipitates sex, between Ben and Charlotte. Yikes.
Neither Martin nor Cornwallis gives in to Tavington's seduction in these scenes, which should reinforce that they are in charge of their own behavior and thus culpable for their choices. And to the extent that blame for the British defeat falls on anyone but Tavington, it falls on Cornwallis. That seems fair enough; he is the general of the British Army in the southern colonies. But when the blame for Martin's poor choices somehow also falls on Tavington . . . the story loses me. But I suppose that is part of the fantasy for the film's intended audience. Martin gets the benefit of both ultimate authority over his actions and complete immunity to their consequences. Perhaps he should have run against George Washington given that these are the very qualities some Americans seem to look for in a president.

On 12th June 1298 William Wallace defeated Sir Aymer de Vallance, Earl of Pembroke.
Or did he? There is conflicting accounts of this Battle, or skirmish as it has also been described. By now Wallace was the most hunted man in Scotland and he must have been involved in many skirmishes, few have made it to the history books, and those that have, like this one are a bit vague.
Wiki have this encounter as happening in September 1304, but a plaque at a site called "Black Earnside" near Newburgh in Fife have today's date, hence I am plumping for this! There is a mention in English records of compensation being paid for horses lost in a flight from William Wallace at "Yrenside" another tells of a "Constable" from Dundee pursuing Wallace, but why would someone from Dundee be that far south?
My main source states that “Sir Aymer de Vallance, Earl of Pembroke, and Sir John Sieward, son of the Earl of March, landed with an army in Fife, and proceeded to burn and waste. They were met by a Scotch force under Wallace in the forest of Black Ironside, and were totally defeated."
It's not just modern historians who question whether the battle happened at all, this is from 1876...... Later historians find difficulty in reconciling the date assigned... (12 June, 1298) with other facts in Wallace's history; but Blair, (Wallace's chaplain )... distinctly states that on the 12 June 1298, the guardian of the kingdom (Wallace) vanquished the English... at Ironside..., with their general... Aylmer de Valance, Earl of Pembroke.(Information from a Book 'Relations... Arnaldi Blair, capellani',) The battle is described by Blind Harry, the minstrel. The name of Wallace's Den... immemorially attached to a deep gully on the farm of Parkhill... affords presumptive evidence of the site of the battle. (There is no good historical evidence for this battle, which apparently rests only on the authority of Blair, and Blind Harry (Henry the Minstrel).) A Laing 1876.
The people of Newburgh have marked the area with the plaque seen in the photo which is in a layby above “Wallace’s Bridge”, on the Gauldry to Newburgh road, high road above River Tay, it reads “Black Earnside 12th June 1298 On this site a major tactical battle was fought and won for Scotland by their guardian, Sir William Wallace, against the Earl of Pembroke, who was acting on the orders of his English master, Edward Plantagenet. This plaque has been erected by the people of Newburgh in recognition of the part played by their forebears in assisting Sir William Wallace in defence of our country. More details here http://ptc2506.com/featured_sites/william_wallace/battles.html
Each year on this day I try to find out more about Black Earnside, and each year I end up just going round in circles, this post shows you how difficult a job it can be at times trying to make sense of our history.
I salute the Black Earnside Tartan army who turn up each year to remember the occasion.

Elizabeth and Robert’s kids in the OT3 Verse because @boleynecklace got me thinking about them.
Anne (Nanette) - the oldest who marries William Cecils oldest son because I think it’s funny to have William Cecil and Robert Dudley be in laws though their relationship is pretty different here because Elizabeth isn’t the Queen etc. Inherits her title of Duchess of Pembroke as her mother inherited it from Anne’s namesake grandmother.
Anne is not only best friend with her cousin Turhan (King Thomas II) she’s also his spymaster (secret) and one of his chief advisors. She inherited all the political acumen and also the ruthless pragmatism.
Henry (Harry) - the second oldest. He will definitely let you know that he’s totally older than his twin by like, two minutes. Very crucial. He’s the courtier, the sportsman jouster and the fashion plate tbh. Also definitely a ladies man (his wife is actually okay with this - they married because they were friends and wanted children, not due to love).
Thomas (Thom) aka the gardener (I think it’s very cool actually). Henry’s twin and is the one holding the impulse control and the braincells of the twins. He’s actually the one who manages the estate even though Harry is the Duke of Leicester. The gardens he designed and planned are famous even today in universe.
Robert (Robbie) - he’s the sailor and the guy who essentially founds a non imperialist version of the English Navy. Sails as far as Indonesia at least, spends several years in his cousin Maryem’s court in Persia (she’s the Empress), falls in love with a Privateer/Pirate uh Admiral (I love her). You know, the usual.
Marian - the youngest by far (the late in life surprise baby). She’s a painter who married twice (her first husband was Terrible) and lives till 1680 and has an amazing life - especially in terms of this AUs version of the English Civil War and the Restoration.

SIMS 4: PEMBROKE HOSPITAL — VAMPYR — FULL CC LIST
Disclaimer: I “ranked” the CC that had been used in order of relevance — from “you can technically play without this but the Hospital is going to look abysmally half-assed and will be missing heaps of assets” to “you can play without this and most you’re going to be missing is a few clutter items.”
All CC that I used is free/not-early-access.
A big thank you goes to all CC creators; you’re the reason this game hasn’t died yet!
FIND THIS BUILD ON THE GALLERY, ID: a_orionali
~[THIS POST AS A GOOGLE DOC.]~
1. MUST-HAVE CC:
⟹ Syboulette
LOFT BRICK BUILD. Used for the fencing around Pembroke and is its main outside wallpaper. The inside columns are from this pack as well.
HIPPOCRATE. The required hospital pack.
⟹ TheJim07
MANSION PANELS - PART 02. The entire second floor of the Pembroke (sans Edgar’s office) uses this CC wallpaper.
OFFICE SET FROM TS3. Edgar’s (fancy) desk is here. Attention: if you don’t download this, all the vast clutter on the said desk will disappear into the ether.
⟹ Sixam
SMALL SPACES: PANTRY. Uses many clutter items from the pack. Edgar’s leftmost office shelf is also from this pack.
SMALL SPACES: LAUNDRY ROOM. The basement laundry room is functional and decorated thanks to this pack.
HOME BASICS COMPLETE COLLECTION. Lots of excellent deco-clutter here (books mostly).
WEDNESDAY GOTH BEDROOM. Edgar’s favorite papier mache skull is from here. Yes, I’m putting that skull alone in the must-have section because, woah, does Edgar love it.
⟹ Felixandre and/or Harrie
OCTOBER 2017. The statue in the Pembroke plaza is here.
JANUARY 2018. A few windows and the two back doors are from here.
ORJÁNIC, PART 1 AND 2. Some trusses/windows were used and the main doorways are from here too.
LONDON EXTERIOR. Nearly all of the exterior doors and windows are from this set and that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
KYOTO, PART 2. The planks from this pack form the cosmetic “lines” you can see on Pembroke’s facade. The same planks have also been used as boards for the windows of Jonathan’s office.
BERLIN, PART 2. The dome sitting on the topmost platform of the hospital is from here.
APRIL 2018. The extravagant chandelier that’s on the second floor in front of Edgar’s office is here.
MAY 2018. The main door is from this pack.
⟹ Pierisim
WINTER GARDEN PART 2. The complementary tile/floor for Pembroke’s first floor.
MCM, PART 1 — 5. Ditto.
MAISON MEULIÈRE. Another excellent pediment for the hospital’s roofs is here.
DOMAINE DU CLOS, PART 1 — 4. Some windows/doors that have been used are from here.
COLDBREW COFFESHOP, ALL PARTS. Clutter again, but also the arch that has been used as the elevator “door” (linking the third floor and the attic) is here.
⟹ Various Creators
BATHROOM MIRROR TILES by pralinesims. Main tile/floor for Pembroke’s first/third floors.
VARA OFFICE SET. The cozy chairs for other doctors’ (not Edgar, not Jonathan) offices are here.
2. GOOD-TO-HAVE CC:
⟹ Syboulette
IN CONSTRUCTION. Clutter from this pack fills the plaza in front of the entrance.
IMPERIUM CONCRETE. Uses the minimalistic but lovely frieze from this pack.
CURVED STAIRS. Uses the stairs from this pack to join the second and third floors because Sims 4 stairs cannot be spun diagonally and, in Vampyr, the stairs are nestled in the nook of the “tips” of the structure. If you can somehow fit a vanilla stair there (I couldn’t) or when EA gives us the power to turn the things 45° you can toss this CC.
ATTIC. Used to clutter, unoriginally, the attic of the hospital where Geoffrey tries to punt you.
A LA FERME ROOF. Uses the cute white pediment to support the Pembroke roof.
⟹ TheJim07
IONIC ORDER SET - PART I AND PART II. Uses miscellaneous decor from these two (like the pedestals that adorn the plaza statue).
FOUNTAIN EDGE SET. Uses the arched trim from this pack to mask the frankly atrocious way circular platforms interact with anything in the Sims 4.
LYON WROUGHT IRON FENCE. The pillars from this CC bracket the main entrance of the hospital.
⟹ Pierisim
OAK HOUSE, PART 1 — 6. All around great series. Tons of clutter have been pulled from here.
⟹ Felixandre and/or Harrie
LIVIN' RUM. Quite nice clutter objects are here.
HALCYON KITCHEN. Cute barstools for the staff's third-floor kitchen are here.
PARIS, PART 1. A few interior doors are from this pack.
FLORENCE, PART 2. Some elegant main entrance door decor is from here.
BERLIN, PART 3. Some lovely shelves and pretty books for all the doctors’ offices.
BERLIN, PART 1. Some interior trims and windows can be found in this pack.
MARCH 2018. Some decorative spires for the hospital’s exterior are here.
⟹ Various Creators
(NOT SO) VAMPIRE BATHROOM by simsinwonderland. Recolored plumbing items from Vampires never looked so good before.
FLAGS!!! by SimPlistic. Slapped on some Union Jacks onto this build because of reasons.
APOTHECARY CABINET, BOTTLES, LEDGER, AND CHEST by magnolianfarewell. A very thematic set that I use here.
TS4 VINTAGE GRAMOPHONE by HappyLifeSims. To period-appropriately fill Pembroke with music. Irrelevant, but I strongly recommend HappyLifeSims’s entire Patreon catalog. They make the best 1920’s CAS clothes.
H&B STORE STUFF by littledica. Used the Simlish alphabet from here to spell out “PEMBROKE HOSPITAL” on the building’s facade.
SCHOOL SPIRIT by hula-zombie. I pulled the bulletin boards from here (you can add your own Spanish Flu-esque posters on it too!)
INTARSIA - WAINSCOT WONDERLAND SET by Lili's Palace. The hospital's foyer has a coffered ceiling so I tried to incorporate that into the build.
HOSPITAL BEDS, VENTILATORS, AND AMBULANCE STRETCHERS by anothersimsstory. Supplemental hospital items.
3. CAN IGNORE (BUT IT’D BE GOOD TO HAVE THESE NONETHELESS):
⟹ Syboulette
WORK IN PROGRESS. Clutter from this pack reflects the dilapidated state of the hospital.
COLETTE COTTAGE BATHROOM. Uses a couple of clutter items.
CAROLINE BATHROOM. Same as above, but this one also uses the tiled walls for Pembroke’s first floor.
OCÉANE. Some more random bathroom decorations.
⟹ TheJim07
VICTORIAN SET FROM TS3. Uses the cute end table from this pack in the nurses’ quarters.
⟹ Sixam
PRIVATE SCHOOL. Uses the skeleton prop from this pack. Yes, I know there’s a skeleton in GTW, but I wanted even more skeletons in my build.
LUXURY BATHROOM. Misc bathroom decor in here.
HOME IMPROVEMENTS. Misc decor again to make the Pembroke more homey/lived-in.
⟹ Pierisim
TIDYING UP. Bathroom clutter.
THE OFFICE. Office clutter.
⟹ Felixandre and/or Harrie
KYOTO, PART 3. Some minor cups and teapots are here.
FLORENCE, PART 1. Candles and candleholders are here (because, apparently, Pembroke burns candles still despite having electricity).
COLONIAL SET, PART 2. Another gramophone for your pleasure.
⟹ Various Creators
DECO SWORD CANE by plumbobteasociety. There’s a cane on a shelf in Edgar’s office, so I decided to include it in my build.
HINTERLANDS DINING by peacemaker. Some wine bottles and a bar cabinet. Because if you were a doctor at Pembroke, you’d start drinking too.
MASTER BEDROOM by Max20. Just some cutesy paintings/clutter.
BOOTLEGGER PARADISE by SimDoughnut. Used this pack for its crates, barrels, and Roaring 20’s posters.
IMPORTANT: If it turns out I accidentally omitted some other CC pack and a part of the build looks unfinished on your end, please make a screenshot and send it to me and I will update this post. The same goes if there’s a broken link somewhere around this doc.

My internet is shit rn due to it storming but I’m kinda here! I THOUGHT I was gonna name this cutie Ackroyd to match my other pembroke corgi whose name is Clarence (if you guess the game you get extra brownie points!) BUT now I’m thinking of naming him HARRY. I think either name is cute for him but I’m indecisive as hell when naming things 😭 luckily i have until the 18th of January to decide his name!
