Payton Armstrong and Jack Winstanley at MMFA:
January 6 participants who received pardons or commuted sentences from President Donald Trump are now demanding retribution, including by calling for prosecutors to “be imprisoned” and “put behind bars,” saying there needs to be “a prosecution for perjury” against U.S. Capitol Police officers Harry Dunn and David Lazarus, and declaring that “the next obvious step would be fire all prosecutors, all FBI agents who were involved in this witch hunt.” Some have also discussed “class action lawsuits” against investigators and prosecutors.
Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences of January 6 participants, and right-wing media cheered the move
Trump issued “full, complete and unconditional” pardons to January 6 participants, including “violent offenders,” and commuted the sentences of members of extremist groups who had been convicted of seditious conspiracy. According to The New York Times, “The pardons will also wipe the slate clean for violent offenders who went after the police on Jan. 6 with baseball bats, two-by-fours and bear spray and are serving prison terms, in some cases of more than a decade. … In a separate move, Mr. Trump commuted the prison sentences of five other Proud Boys, some of whom had been convicted at trial with Mr. [Enrique] Tarrio. He also commuted the sentences of Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the Oath Keepers militia, and eight of his subordinates. Altogether, the commutations erased more than 100 years of prison time for the 14 defendants, almost all of whom were convicted of seditious conspiracy.” [The New York Times, 1/20/25]
Earlier this month, Vice President JD Vance told Fox News Sunday that people who committed violence on January 6 should “obviously” not be pardoned. Other prominent Republicans, including some in Trump’s administration, previously advocated for people who attacked police officers to face consequences. Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) even tied her stance to Vance’s comments, saying, “I agree with JD.” [The Associated Press, 1/12/25; Project Democracy, 1/13/25]
Right-wing media praised the move while glossing over pardons and commutations granted to those previously convicted of violent crimes or seditious conspiracy. On War Room, Steve Bannon celebrated “blanket” pardons. On Fox News, OutKick founder Clay Travis declared, “I love the pardon of the Jan 6 political prisoners.” [Media Matters, 1/21/25; Real America's Voice, War Room, 1/21/25; Fox News, America's Newsroom, 1/21/25]
The pardoned and commutated January 6th Insurrectionists are going on various right-wing media outlets to push for retribution and prosecutions of those who rightly prosecuted them for their terroristic activities.

Harry Dunn is one of the Capitol Police officers injured by the pro-Trump terrorists assaulting the US Capitol in 2021.
Dunn has retired from the force and is now running for the US House from Maryland's third district (MD-03).
In addition to Republicans being the pro-Russia party, they are also the anti-law party. By coincidence, a GOP January 6th terrorist is now running for Congress from West Virginia.
Ex-lawmaker who served time for Jan. 6 riot seeks House seat
So there you have it. Democratic vs. Republican nowadays is democracy vs. terrorism.

This Morning with Harry Dunn
Harry Dunn spoke this morning in Milwaukee. He is one of the Capitol Police Officers who valiantly defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. For his heroism, Mr. Dunn received the Congressional Gold Medal and the Presidential Citizens Medal. After the attack, he spoke out, testified in Congress, stood up for his fellow officers, ran for Congress himself, and spent months traversing the…

The article above does not explain what happened. Here's the account from The Washington Post:
Former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn and former sergeant Aquilino Gonell were introduced on the floor Wednesday as “heroes” by House Speaker Joanna McClinton (D) for having “bravely defended democracy in the United States Capitol against rioters and insurrection on January 6.” As the two men — both of whom were injured by rioters on Jan. 6 — were introduced, the House floor descended into chaos. According to Democratic lawmakers, several GOP lawmakers hissed and booed, with a number of Republicans walking out of the chamber in protest. “I heard some hissing and I saw about eight to 10 of my Republican colleagues walk out angrily as they were announced as police officers from the U.S. Capitol on January 6,” state Rep. Arvind Venkat (D) said in a phone interview Thursday. “I was shocked and appalled,” he added. According to Venkat, the commotion lasted about five minutes. Fewer than 100 lawmakers, evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats, were present in the chamber before the chaotic scene unfolded, he said. The Pennsylvania House has 203 members — 102 Democrats and 101 Republicans. [...] Rep. Mike Schlossberg (D), who was also present, said in an email on Wednesday that while “there were absolutely Republican members who did applaud and stand,” a “majority did not.” “It was embarrassing and disgraceful,” added Schlossberg, the Democratic caucus chair. At one point, Schlossberg said, the booing and jeering grew so loud “that the Speaker had to raise her voice to be heard over the noise.” In a statement shared with The Post, Speaker McClinton described the actions as “despicable.” [emphasis added]
A number of PA Republican lawmakers booed, hissed and walked off the floor AS Dunn and Gonell were being introduced. They hadn't said anything yet. All of those lawmakers who behaved that way should be censured. They clearly support insurrection over the Constitution.

Harry Dunn and Aquilino Gonell, two former US Capitol police officers, were greeted by Pennsylvania Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday in Harrisburg, where they traveled to warn voters about a second Trump presidency.
Two former US Capitol Police officers who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 visited Harrisburg on Wednesday to warn Pennsylvania voters about the dangers of a second term in office for former President Donald Trump.
Officer Harry Dunn and Sergeant Aquilino Gonell are traveling across the commonwealth this week on behalf of the Biden-Harris campaign to highlight how Trump is normalizing political violence and making the insurrection a part of his campaign.

S.V. Dáte at HuffPost:
On the eve of his first 2024 election debate with his recently convicted predecessor, President Joe Biden ramped up his criticism of Donald Trump’s actions leading up to and on the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol he incited in his last-gasp attempt to hang on to power. Biden’s campaign on Wednesday morning rolled out an endorsement from former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger, a member of the House Jan. 6 committee that investigated the assault. That was followed by the release of a new ad featuring a Michigan sheriff criticizing Trump for doing nothing for three hours while his followers violently attacked police officers protecting the Capitol. A few hours later on Wednesday afternoon, Kinzinger appeared with Georgia’s former lieutenant governor, Geoff Duncan, and former Capitol police officer Harry Dunn at the statehouse in Atlanta for a news conference backing Biden. “Going against the grain as a Republican supporting Democrat Joe Biden for president is not easy. But I’m not really looking at this election through the lens of being a Republican. I’m looking through the lens of being an American,” Duncan said, calling Trump “the morally bankrupt nominee” of his lifelong party. “Enough is enough. The nightmare has to end, and it has to end now.” Trump campaign officials did not respond to HuffPost queries. Trump has personally attacked both Kinzinger and Duncan, who on Tuesday described how he had to get armed guards after the 2020 election when he refused to go along with Trump’s lies that the Georgia election had been stolen from him.
Ahead of the first Presidential Debate tonight originating on CNN and simulcasting on various cable, broadcast, and streaming outlets, President Joe Biden ramps ups his attacks on Donald Trump’s role in inciting the January 6th Insurrection.

« Yesterday was Memorial Day. It’s a good time to reflect on how Americans fought and died so that we may enjoy the freedoms guaranteed to us by a Democratic government, a government that as President Lincoln said, “of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.” Under Trump, this kind of government will perish from the Earth. I don’t mean to scare you. No, no, wait. Maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted. And elections? Forget about it. That’s over. That’s done. If he gets in, I can tell you right now, he will never leave. He will never leave. You know that — he will never leave. »
— Robert De Niro Tuesday at a press conference warning about a Trump second term outside the NYC courthouse where Trump is on trial. See the entire event on the video below.
De Niro is a native New Yorker – unlike most of the Congressional MAGA flunkies who flew up to NYC with their matching red neckties to display public fealty to the Dear Leader. De Niro didn't take shit from one MAGA zombie. The whole thing was all very New York.
With De Niro were Harry Dunn and Michael Fanone, two of the police officers who were injured defending the US Capitol from pro-Trump terrorists on January 6th.
The event started off with comments from Biden-Harris communications director Michael Tyler. When giving his personal opinion of Trump, De Niro went further than the Biden campaign may have anticipated; although De Niro had a script, he didn't feel obliged to constantly stick to it. 🙂
