Slight update on the post from a few days ago! Primarily changed the Side Deck to actually have thought put into it, but first thing's first:
Having a Kaiju I can summon and banish off Allure, as previously mentioned, is good for the Main Deck. Previously I mentioned Purple Poison being the fortieth card and, despite some utility it has, I feel Triple Tactics Talent is more important as a midrange Main Deck card. I also cut the second Performapal Celestial Magician for it.
I put a second Beyond the Pendulum in the Extra Deck, both to account for Kashtira (for those unaware, that archetype is able to look at the opponent's ED and banish a card from it) and because it's just good to be able to use it a second time. I had room and this seemed like the best filler.
What I spent the majority of my time thinking about is what the board plan for Games 2 and 3 is, both for going first and second. Deciding what I could realistically use, what I need (looking at you Cosmic Cyclone, I absolutely fold to Anti-Spell Fragrance and need a chainable out), and ratios on what to switch in and out. The big thing I thought about is what I would side in knowing I'm going first, and I decided on 2x Triple Tactics Thrust + 1x Appointer of the Red Lotus since hand knowledge is so ludicrously impactful (Appointer allows you to look at the opponent's hand and banish a card from it until their next End Phase). I would swap out 1x Triple Tactics Talent and 2x Radian. For going second, it would depend on what my opponent's on, but I would almost universally bring in Cosmic since ASF is so common and I lose so badly to it. It would likely be 3x Cosmic, then some combo of 2x Thrust + any of the three 1x board breakers (between Thrust and Appointer in the Side Deck) and/or 3x Evenly and/or 3x Nibiru. I would swap out 3x Allure, 1/2x Talent, and/or possibly 2x Radian if I don't feel it'll be super helpful. I could also shave White Wing Magician, Tuning Magician, a Duelist Alliance, a Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and/or an Oafdragon Magician if I really need to bring in more board breakers.
It's so difficult to allocate space for non-engine (i.e. staple cards that are used for generic purposes, such as clearing the opponent's board, that otherwise don't usually help your archetypal gameplan) in this deck since nothing starts combos on its own and needs other cards to accomplish anything. A critical mass of Pendulum monsters or ways to reach them is necessary. This means many otherwise sound deckbuilding theories just don't apply, and as a result the deck is more fragile. Talents is a calculated risk especially since the +1 on card advantage is insane if the opponent uses Ash Blossom or something similar but otherwise lowers the ceiling of the turn immensely if it rots in my hand.
Spent so long trying to find funny tech cards or neat ED monsters and all of them just ended with the conclusion of "at best this is slightly better than what I normally do but otherwise wastes space or actively increases my chances of not having plays". Non-zero chance I find something else to try in the future, though.

Are there any tutorials you'd reccomend etc for someone who wants to start making music but is like, 1000000% new to it? I usually get overwhelmed and just delete the program...
it depends on what DAW (digital audio workstation) you're using– you can almost always find a good one by searching on YouTube "(DAW name) beginner tutorial". It's (usually) gonna be long and boring, but learning your way around the software is the most crucial part of this whole process , and you won't get anywhere without it!!
As for actually MAKING music, there are various tutorials for certain genres also on Youtube, and often you can narrow down your search by adding the name of your DAW. e.g. "happy hardcore fl studio tutorial". unfortunately this part - the actual making music process - is still something a little difficult for me to describe
also, a lot of the tutorials like that go REALLY fast, so don't be afraid to pause or rewind as often as you need.
ive also found that copying other people's music is like unironically one of the best ways to learn music, similar to art. Making cover songs will let you become more familiar with the program, WITHOUT the stress of coming up with a whole new song on your own.
speaking of "a whole song", remember that you DONT have to be churning out entire completed songs at the very beginning. it rarely ever goes this way. AND ALSO don't rush yourself to complete a project in one sitting. You'll later regret not taking the time to tweak it to perfection!!!!
so TLDR watch a long boring tutorial or a few, start *small* with short loops or cover songs, and don't rush yourself. this sorta thing takes a lot of time and practice to get down. if you aren't perfect at first remember that's Ok and it's just part of the learning process
i have a page on my website where I go into a little more detail about this topic , but keep in mind it is a WIP It is Unfinished so its missing a lot of stuff
#asks#apologies if ths doesn't exactly satisfy your question but if you have any more specific questions feel free to ask me#I'm always happy to answer questions about music stuff

I'm absolutely obsessed with the watercolor sketchbook page u just posted!!! 💜✨💜✨
Do you do the linert first with waterproof pen, then colour it, or watercolours first, then pen? I want to refine my watercolor techniques, so looking for insight!!! Absolutely beautiful art, once again!!! 💜💜
thank you so much!!! ^-^ i'm kinda surprised anybody even liked the watercolor drawings lol, they're pretty far outside my normal stuff and i was kinda on the fence about posting them at all! :P
I use a fountain pen that i fill up with waterproof ink, do the drawing, then paint over it with watercolors!! my art's really drawing/line based, so it's a lot easier for me than doing the colors first, then inking!
also i have a faq page that is currently being worked on by me lol, but eventually i want to have lists of supplies and the stuff i use there!

As a Warriors fan, you wouldn't happen to know where 'warriors has betrayal trauma/trust issues' comes from? I want to write him, but I've never played his game and I can't figure out what's going on with this backstory. Is there any canonical basis for it or is it entirely fanon? Google is kind of useless for anything but the general plot of the Hyrule Warriors game. (Also, thanks for getting me into LU!)
Mwahahahahaha, I pulled another person down into the LU pit with me, I'm so PLEASED. >:D Welcome, anon!! Feel free to hmu anytime to yell about whatever (and that goes for anyone else who sees this btw).
Oh boy, you're asking someone who's never played a LOZ game in her life for information on canon happenings, always a gamble. XD But to the best of my knowledge, Warriors' issues with traitors and hangups about betrayal comes from this early comic Jojo drew where he says point blank "There's nothing I loathe more than a traitor." This is because in the story campaign in Hyrule Warriors, some parts of the army are mind-controlled by Cia/Ganon into turning on him, and he has to fight them off to survive.
Some take this to mean that not only were soldiers mind-controlled into fighting for the enemy, but actively deserting the army or trying to assassinate Warriors, so he has massive trust issues because of it. However, this is fanon. Not outside the realm of possibility, but still not outright confirmed in LU canon. (EDIT: Apparently other soldiers DO turn traitor during missions and Link has to fight them outside of adventure mode, so uh. nvm guess this is BASICALLY canon even if Jojo hasn't discussed it in-comic)
As for Warriors' backstory, you can literally make up whatever you want, because he has none. :))) Want him to be of noble birth? Go for it. Want him to be a hick from some no-name backwater town in some random corner of Hyrule? Also go for it. I've seen a lot of people headcanon that he has sisters, which is always fun.
If you want more of an idea of what happens in his game, I'd recommend checking out this cutscene compilation, it's only about an hour long.

wait i’m confused i’m new to opm so idk a lot about it but why can’t zombie man have kids?
Hello!👋 It's just my personal headcanon! In my eyes, Zombieman believes he can't reproduce since he's a zombie. But in reality, he is actually able to have his own kids (maybe not with first attempts, but still) :D I do not claim this as verified information since this subject wasn't brought up in the manga! I hope I made myself clear😊

hiiii !!! you’re like my favourite writer ever. the whole reason i got into the marauders is because of my love for art and finding art heist baby 🙈
i live in aus and i’m turning 17 soon. i want to do a degree in art history but im scared it wont get me anywhere? what do you think??
hi!!! thank you so much, this is so sweet!!! <3
well, as someone with 2 degrees in art history i am afraid i will be a bit biased here but i say absolutely do it if it's something that you love and are passionate about!
being completely candid here i had the best time in school. the BEST time. i loved every second of what i was doing and learning and it never felt like a chore. then for about 5 months post-grad i wanted to find a very large hole and bury myself in it because i could not get a job that utilized my degree to save my life. they were either extremely low paying (seriously, no person could live off of that wage and they were also PhD preferred) or entry level jobs calling for 5+ years experience ???? Like. GET. REAL. (not to worry tho i just recently got a job (aye) as an exhibitions and collections specialist at a museum so we are so on the up and up again)
also being candid here. you're never going to make a ton of money in this field. you're not gonna be "rich" and 95% of it is who you know. the art world is small. TRUST. also, most positions in an art historical field require at least a master's degree tbh. a lot would prefer a PhD especially if you're looking to do curatorial work in any time period pre 1920s. (so if you're an impressionist/baroque/renaissance kinda person be prepared to get a PhD and be prepared to learn another language aside from english to get a good job in the field) <- i do find that it's easier if you're more modern and contemporary focused to get on with just a masters degree
that being said, if this is what you want to do. if this is what you love. it is never a waste and you will find a way. (if I can find a way anyone can find a way). my best advice is talk to your professors, do internships, work if you can !!!! volunteer at your art museums!!!! meet and talk to the museum professionals in your area and NETWORK!! (I can't stress enough how many times someone has been like "oh you worked [redacted] did you know [redacted]?'" and i could be like "yes!!! i worked under them for two years loved her!! blah blah blah" it goes a long. way. i've had professors send me gallery writing guides and artist biography guides from when they worked at the MET so i would know how to write them, academic advisors in scotland know my art history professors in undergrad and subsequently became my bestie by extension, curators at a museum i volunteered at teach me how to work archival systems when they had a free minute)
talk to as many people as you can!! network!!! get some experience in archival systems, instillation work, art historical research!! work with your local university's/city's museum or archeological center! that way, when you're on your inevitable 239823 interview post-grad, someone at some gallery will be like "oh you worked here? under so-and-so???? you're hired"
i love it. what i do doesn't ever feel like work to me, it's exciting and fun and enjoyable and not something i do so i can do other things. it's not something i do just to make money. it's hard. post-grad is hard. but it's hard for a lot of people rn, not just art historians. i'm always gonna say go for it!!!! it is never a waste to do something you love!!

i really love the way you paint your art esp with the 4 portraits of the turtle bois! do you have any tips with how you shade and blend the lineart with the coloring? ive been analyzing your art for while and i couldnt wrap my head on how you do that style where theres a lineart but at the same time on some places its lineless i hope im making sense
Oh yeah I totally get it! So what I do (for my full renders anyway) is digital painting. It's when after I have my sketch and all the main colors I want, I merge all the layers together and start painting and blending over everything. Basically my line art, base colors, shadows, and highlights are all in one layer and I start working everything in together.
I'll put a gif of my process down below to visualize what im talking abt, but essentially the idea is to get this soft painted look I like, while also knowing that I'm not married to whatever line art I made. You can even see during the process that I changed the shape of donnie's face and his hand, and that's because I just picked the "line art" and "background" color and drew over thoes places again and again until I liked it. The reason that some places look lineless is because I painted over them, and I just kinda like how that looks and don't bother to go over it with the line art color again XD
TL;DR: The reason that the line art looks blended in with the colors is because I merge everything down into one layer when I have all the general colors I want, and then I start painting and blending over everything. Over time, with all the blending, the line art and colors naturally star to look blended in together <3
#aha I really really like playing art teacher and talking abt my process a lot#idk why but it just makes me happy#if there are any other questions abt that plz ask away !! im always happy to answer are questions <33#ask#art tut

Any advice for writting longform stories like NWWD?
@honoikazuchis
thanks for this ask!
thats a pretty open ended question and my answer will inherently be relatively specific to me and the way i write, but i'm happy to share my advice!
I will link a few other posts where i answered some other writing asks:
worldbuilding [x] editing/exposition [x] writer's block/POV [x] plotting vs pantsing [x] how long does it take me to write stuff [x] my writing process [x] writing spicy scenes [x]
otherwise, see below for me rambling way too long about writing.
disclaimer: this is just my opinion and how i do things, obviously there's a lot of variety and nuance for everyone's writing process.
firstly, is that personally, i'm inclined to writing longform stories so thats a bit of a built in strength of mine. generally speaking my story ideas come with lots of lore (see above for my love of worldbuilding) and i like relationships that are deeper/longer, with slow burn being a favorite of mine (why basically all my short stories have the two people involved having met prior to the story starting). that being said, technically the main character in 'Nothing's Wrong with Dale' doesnt meet demon!Dale until the flashback of chapter 2 and why is part of why that story is so long/has a built in arranged marriage premise. Of my two potential long form stories i'm going to do next: one they already know each other (and are basically already in love just being pining idiots about it) or two the story takes place over several months/high stress situations and does not end with marriage etc. But thats more of a concern if you're writing romance.
in general, my advice for longform stories is to already have a relatively complete, high level view of the story when you start. some people can just improvise the entire story as they go--I cannot. i think its very helpful to know where ur story is going to end, more crucially when it is long and you'll be taking a while to get there. by this i primarily mean the setup for the story, then general ending, and vaguely what sort of metaphorical journey they take to get there. you do not need to know every scene and detail in the middle--and plot points/characters can and will evolve as you write and think more on everything--but having the broad brushstrokes figured out asap is critical, in my opinion.
I also, as a side note, don't set out with a story length in mind. i can generally get a good handle on how long a story will be by the idea and outline, but i dont try to make it long. if anything, i did try to challenge myself to write shorter stories, like my novellas, when i started this blog/posting original writing here. that was not only because i do tend to get very complicated/long original ideas, but also because i think it was important to me to actually finish some original work, which i had never done before.
shorter stories tend to have more straightforward plots. not that you can't boil down longer stories to simpler summaries, but generally longer story ideas have more stops along the way so to speak that come to me when i'm developing the idea because i want to cover more with the story. the main character in dale having had childhood illness, dale raised by his grandparents, there being tournament stuff and assassins stuff and uncomfortable parties and most importantly MC figuring out dale was a demon immediately and dale not knowing the MC knew that were all things i came up with (loosely) very soon after i started working on it.
which leads into my next piece of advice: write everything you brainstorm down - you will forget and you will remember there's something u've forgotten and it will annoy the hell out of you. write your notes, write your what ifs, write down possible character names, write down cool ideas for scenes--heck write some of the scenes up then, evn if its for chapter 24 of 35. dont save what ur most excited for as like a carrot on a stick, i find that it doesnt help and that having part of my story that i love existing already is a much better motivator to write the rest
i'm also a big outliner and planner. i think some people think what that means is that u should b able to write a plan once for a story and then never change or deviate from it--but no! change the plan as you go; scrap things that dont work out and add new ideas when they come to you. however, i do think having something down that covers the whole story, lets you get a good idea of the shape of the story, and reminds you of your end goal, are all incredibly helpful. i also keep multiple worldbuilding notes docs; character and location lists; picture inspiration; etc to support the longform idea
i think u also hav to hav confidence/delusion that you will in fact finished. i hav started multiple longform original writing ideas in the past. none of them are done except dale. and part of it was not taking some of my own advice up top, but i think i also just wasnt as committed? lik it'd get lost in worldbuilding, or writing other projects, or life happening (which is all absolutely fine) but dale was the first longform idea where i like, really believed i could write it all and where i was dedicated to putting in the time i'd need to finish it. i knew i would need to take breaks and it would take more than a year (which i did and it did) but i still believed i'd get to where i am now, with a finished draft which i think was really key.
also, practice, i've been writing for years and year; i've been reading for even longer; and i've been writing and posting fanfic for years as well. some of my longer fanfics were such good practice for how to plot a long story without having to generate all the lore myself and having guardrails on for the story/characters in general. aside from dale, my next five pieces of longest writing are all fanfic.
lastly, find at least one person you can talk to about your story. i really think that helped me stay excited and motivated about my longform story in particular. i of course like talking about shorter stories too, but i dont think i felt as compelled to keep talking about them during the process of writing them as i did for my longform stories (even my longer fanfics i talked with other ppl in the big bang about or other writers on discord). and i dont just mean posting the rough drafts as u go like i did, but friends, irl or online, that either are also writers or are just interested in what story you want to make. i think it helps make it more real to you, it gives you ways to talk through issues that come up, its a way to get excited because they're excited, and it makes someone besides you ask how everythings going. the longer stories ideas i had but never got finished are also ones i primarily kept to myself, because i dont think i'd realized how helpful it could be to share them and also because i was still sure that in order to justify telling someone or evn for someone to care, it would hav to already be written, but it doesnt! and in retrospect, i wish i had because maybe those stories would exist--or maybe i'll dig up those notes and talk to someone about them and then find myself back to writing about them (rip to Aftermath, that corrupted external hard drive did u dirty and killed my motivation).
i think getting to understand and figure out your own process, to really look at yourself and see what works and what doesnt (as honestly as you can) is extremely helpful. u'll also figure stuff out along the way--dont hesitate to try to new strategies or drop one that are really not working for you. its all a learning process. be nice to yourself! give yourself the grace to make mistakes (or tell a friend so they can bully you into to cutting urself some damn slack when u can't stick to a weekly upload schedule u made up for urself).
whatever longform story you've got in ur head is one worth sharing and seeing through to completion--and then inflicting on everyone else lol OUR problem now ;)
#writing#writing asks#my writing#writing longer stories#let me know if u meant anything more specific as far as what u wanted advice on#the question was broad and open ended so thats where i went with my answer#i hope this was helpful and please feel free to send in any followup asks if it as confusing or didnt address something you want to know ab#thats open for everyone#not just the original asker#and definitely ask around to other writers you like#its always good to get multiple perspectives#clearly i am always happy to talk about my stories or my writing process#thanks again for sending in this ask!

Do you have any thoughts (or headcanons) on Emmeryn for like. writing her? The game gives us so little, I have a lot of trouble with it, but I refuse to give up and write her out!
OH MAN I HAVE A TON OF THOUGHTS ON WRITING EMMERYN I honestly love getting to play around with her and I wish I had more opportunities to really do so.
She may look frail, but much like Lissa, she's not delicate, and actually a lot stronger than she appears. Emmeryn experienced firsthand what her father's strength could do when he used it carelessly, and she had made every effort to be gentle in all matters; however, when her emotions are running particularly high, she can slip and be more forceful (things like hugging her brother extra tight when he gets back from a dangerous mission because she's just so relieved to see him safe).
Similarly, while she may appear calm and measured, it's actually a mask that she's spent years perfecting, starting with interactions with her father and proceeding through her early years as Exalt. Emmeryn is much more emotional than she lets on, but she's had to be this perfect icon for so many people in her life -- a guardian for her siblings, a leader to the Ylissean people -- that it's become habit by now to wear it. When the mask does slip, it's usually because something has pushed her to a breaking point (though her partners can see the full measure of her trust in them when she purposefully sheds it).
Mask or not, Emm is a very compassionate person, and despite her cultural upbringing, she makes every effort to treat everyone -- regardless of their history or heritage -- with kindness and respect. Because of this, she tends not to react instantaneously to anything: whatever her gut reaction is, she does not voice it, instead taking a moment to examine it before speaking so that she can avoid causing offense with a thoughtless remark.
Emm is a pacifist: she has no intention of making war the way her father did, only of defending her nation's borders when needed. This does not, however, make her a pushover: Emmeryn is much more stubborn than her brother, and staunchly refuses to back down when she sets her mind to something. We get at least a glimpse of this when news arrives about Maribelle's kidnapping: she turns both her brother and the captain of the pegasus knights down when they insist on making Gangrel pay, insisting instead on speaking with Gangrel directly to try finding a way to peace.
This can, however, be something of a double-edged sword. Emm's pacifism extends to the point where she hesitates to use the power that she has at her command, having seen the horrors wrought by its abuse under her father. This can lead to its own kind of abuse -- specifically by those who realize that they'll never be punished for disobedience because she won't bring her power to bear against them. This rarely happens out in the open, of course, but I suspect that it's much more widespread than she would ever want to believe.
Above all else, Emmeryn loves her siblings and her country. She walks the street without any barriers between herself and her people, clear proof of her trust and affection for them. I suspect that, along with her routine bureaucratic and legislative duties, she makes time whenever she's able to hold audiences for the common folk, listen to their grievances, and offer what aid she can to ease their burdens. She recognizes that they are the heart of the nation, and Ylisse would crumble without their support; her popularity stems in no small part to how she tends to their needs, rather than prizing the nobility over all else as her father had.
Again, though, this is something of a double-edged sword, as she has not done herself any favors with the nobles. Between the way she favors the common folk and her stubborn refusal to give them the benefits they got used to under the former Exalt; while they're polite to her face, more than one noble is frustrated by how she's chosen to rule the halidom. Their pushes to have her marry are not only so that she will have an heir to continue the Exalted Lineage, but in hopes that her spouse will be able to wrench some measure of favor back to the family that weds her; on top of that, some have far more wicked plots to depose her entirely, like the hierarch who sold her out to Gangrel for the likely promise of power.
#answered#anonymous#fire emblem: awakening#emmeryn#i absolutely love writing emmeryn#and i absolutely love seeing emmeryn in writing#she's /so much fun/ to play with as a character#politically she's an immovable object who will not back down#but also she's definitely not perfect#she does in fact fuck up#and i adore her for it#i hope this helps!!#if you have any other questions or need any other insights#i'm always happy to talk more about emm

i think me realizing you guys are very smart and i dont need to meticulously only release art in chronological order of the story to build up the relationship for you to be into it and understand at any given moment where the relationship is at has given me too much power
#together we piece it all together bit by bit#though im always happy to answer any questions. if i know the answer to them etc#i just dont like writing about the plot events unprompted by myself bc i feel like just going down the list of things that happen#doesnt do it justice like i could with drawing it
