Author + Blog Information‼️
This is just a post to get know more about me plus more information regarding this specific blog page! This is not intended to turn into a personal blog, so any questions regarding to silly questions like “What’s your favorite band?” Or “What animes/games do you like?” Will be answer on my personal blog here! I love answering silly questions, but I’d rather keep that on my personal everyday use blog❤️
☆★☆★→About Me!←☆★☆★
Q1.✏️: What’s my name, age & pronouns?
My name is Noah, but prefer to go by my online alias of Vulture. I’m 19 years old and I use He/They pronouns!
Q2.✏️: What’s my post schedule?
It’s been kinda dotty, but on August 19th, 2024, I will be starting school again(I’m a college student studying Criminal Justice!). Once school starts, most of my posts will be on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays unless I make an update post!
Q3.✏️: Of all things, why make posts on Call Of Duty?
While I like many other things such as Stardew Valley, Chainsaw Man, Splatoon, Fire Emblem, Cult Of The Lamb, BTD/TPOF, and so on, I have a very big soft spot for the Call Of Duty games and it’s characters! Military related things have always been one of my biggest hyperfixations growing up as a military brat* myself, so when I got into the games earlier this year, it just consumed my autism and I love it.
*Military Brat: A child who grew up/grows up with in a family where one or both parents are in the military. In my case, my dad is in the Army and I have many memories of growing up on base and going to the armory. Some good, a lot terrible, but I still fondly remember my childhood.❤️
(Call Of Duty totally doesn’t help me cope with my daddy issues and childhood trauma pffttt you’re crazy-)
Q4.✏️: Who can interact with my posts?
While I will always be happy when any fans of the games interact with my posts, I prefer those fans be over 18+ due to the fact that I post NSFW content! Of course, if someone under 18 interacts with my SFW posts, I won’t be upset. But if you are a minor and interact with my NSFW blogs, you will be blocked and removed from my page. I do repost my SFW content in my personal blog and would prefer that fans under 18 use that blog instead to see my posts!:)
Q5.✏️: If I have a suggestion, headcanon or post idea, can I post it to your ask box?
ABSOLUTELY!! I love seeing what everyone else has to say about the games and characters!! Idgaf how crazy or silly it may seem, I welcome most ideas with open arms❤️
Q6.✏️: What WILL I post?
Headcanons, NSFW, SFW, one-shots, Imagines….pretty much anything!
Q7.✏️: What WILL I NOT post?
Dead Dove, Do Not Eat. For my more hardcore stories with those contents, those will be moved to a separate blog dedicated to that. I don’t have any in works right now, but be advised that those will not be posted to this blog spot.
Q8.✏️: Why the name Vulture?
This is actually a fun question. Vulture is the call sign of one of the characters I’m writing! I’m still in the works of making the character, but the way she got her call sign is simple: She’s known for looting bodies of dead enemy soldiers like how vultures eat their food. Also, I also think it’s just a badass call sign lol.
Q9.✏️: If I have any other questions about your blog spot or you, where can I ask those questions?
Right under this post! I’m sure there’s some other questions in regards to my posts and content, or just me as a writer, but off the top of my head, I can’t think of anything else. So if I missed anything else of importance, please let me know and I will update this blog to contain those questions!
Happy readings!🤍

is there a scedule for your streams yet? i just watched the vods, your voice is so cute! i wanna go on more failboy adventures lmao
Ah, thank you, that's very sweet!!!!! ❤️ There's kinda no schedule, but I was thinking of maybe doing like Thursday or(/and?) Friday mornings or something?
With the time zone I'm in being as awkward as it is for literally the entire rest of the world, that "7:30 am GMT+2" seems to be like, the least profoundly stupid time for everyone else.
But, full disclosure, it's mostly just been about me wanting to hang out with a few people and play the game in a silly way, rather than an attempt at making this a Thing (I'm not looking to become A Streamer or anything), so while I'd be super happy if more people wanted to join in, and I'm having fun doing this new thing and clipping bits I think are funny, there's no pressure at all! :)
Shamelessly plugging the twitch link here, just in case you'd like to subscribe and see when I decide to go live I guess, but it's very much just a relaxed and casual thing (and primarily me talking to @starfightrpilot), so I don't totally expect to be at all consistent with it lol!
I'm glad you had fun with it! ❤️ Next time I'm thinking about starting to decimate the people at the Grove! (I'm kinda paving the road to the raid, but trying to go about it in the least incriminating way I can, to preserve some amount of plausible deniability lol. I'm not gonna just straight-up attack people, that'd be too easy!)
(^ look at this poor guy, he's finally experiencing a moment of joy in his life)

Wuhuuuuuhhhh it's been such a long past few days, lol.
My husband's friend and his family arrived on Thursday night. Friday was a very busy bee pick up day at work, but I got home a bit early and was able to hang out with everyone for a few hours. We just sat and chatted, it was nice to catch up. The boys decided to go for a food run, unfortunately just as a huge storm was blowing in. On the way home, a massive oak had fallen across the only access road to our house; it had apparently just happened when they encountered it, and one of the other cars stuck behind it happened to have an axe with him and was fruitlessly chopping away. The boys decided to get out anyway, in the thundering rain and wind, and help move what they could. Thankfully, a neighbor with a chainsaw arrived and made quick work of the rest of it. I'm so grateful they weren't hurt in the process and managed to completely clear access to the road for everyone.
Saturday was a painfully early morning, as I opened the cafe for breakfast service. Everything went smoothly though, and my husband brought his friend and his family out to the farm to visit and check it out. They really enjoyed it! And it was so fun to have my own guests there.
Two days prior, a very young kitten had been found alone in the road in front of the farm. He has been kept and taken care of by one of the girls, but they couldn't keep him permanently and were looking for an adopter. Last year my husband's friend had to put his family cat down for illness 💔. And they were more than happy for the opportunity to adopt a new baby! So they even got to leave the farm with a sweet new pet. We got baby kitten supplies on the way home. It seems very healthy and 'normal' and energetic, and they love him.
Sunday we went out to the local east coast style deli for big sammies and some local tourism, but because I live in the small town south, everything else was closed for church, so we just went to the community pool for a few hours instead. They eventually made their way home successfully, and my husband and I crashed hard lol. It seems like it was a good trip for everyone overall.
Yesterday I got to work to learn that there were some issues with last week's bee pick up. The owners were both gone for their son's wedding all weekend, so they depended on us to make pick ups work. Somehow some of the wrong items were handed out, some of the nucleus colonies had significant structural issues, and many more queens than what is normally expected were DOA. On top of these set backs, my coworker began printing and preparing shipments without waiting for our owner's morning meeting mass texts lol, in which she lays out the game plan for the day. This matters because our bee season has been significantly delayed and scrambled up by natural forces outside of our control, as well as a bit of human error, and she is the only one with the master list of shipments and pick ups that are altered to the new timeline. She's been organizing everything by hand at home and contacting the customers individually in order to reschedule their bees, which I can only imagine is a tedious nightmare. We've had thousands of customers this year. And the information we have access to in the office at the farm is outdated and incorrect, so my coworker was starting a huge batch of orders that weren't meant to be ready. The customer gets a notification when their order is marked as 'shipped' which happens automatically when you purchase the shipping label. And she sent out a massive and incorrect bee order to the beekeepers, which sent them into a panicked frenzy as well, desperately trying to prep the impossible. So we had to stop everything, reorganize, and start over, while manually contacting over a hundred customers to apologize for the random shipment notification and figuring out how many bees we actually needed. All while doing normal Monday stuff, fielding regular phone calls, customer visits, and stocking inventory until our eyes bleed.
I tried my best to work on the calendar for the new month so that everyone could have a glance ahead to see what to expect, but per usual, things will change on a weekly and daily basis, so it's almost moot lol. Hopefully we can get back on top of bee orders before the end of the month when we host BuzzFest, our biggest and usually most entertaining event of the year. It's a bee-themed festival from morning till night on the farm with food, music, activities, bees, vending, and more. I can only assume I'll be stuck in the cafe for my first BuzzFest lol, but it'll still be a great time, I'm sure. But it takes us two days on weekends, our usual bee pick ups, to set up, and we're still two weeks behind...
Today is the first of FOUR large field trips at the farm this week. 50+ people today doing a three part experience rotation: hive tour, candle craft, and honey tasting. We're calling in the part timers for register support, but hopefully we can still manage this on top of whatever corrections and shipments need to be made. The guest leading the group called to ask YESTERDAY if she could come over an hour early, just after we technically open, and for reasons unknowable to God and man, the owner told me to say yes 😭. I couldn't get a hold of our head beekeeper, who does the hive tours, so I'm hoping beyond hope he saw the 20 some odd notes I left for him all over the farm lol. It could be a stressful one.
Oh yeah, and I put together and shipped a 'get well soon' package for that poor lady who fell and broke her nose.
I'm very burnt out. I'm finding it impossible to fully relax and re-energize after any form of rest or relaxation or self care etc. I'm still regularly having stress dreams. I'm well past running on fumes, and I'm just grinning nihilisticly through the struggle and bearing as much as I can, ignorantly and toxic-optimistically hoping a random break will just arrive out of the blue soon.

morbid thoughts
sometimes i have just some ridiculous thoughts and i've gotten to a point now where these thoughts have associated themselves to emotions that come up every time. emotions of anxiety or actually experiencing something that isn't happening in real life but the feeling of iminent death or disaster....overall, it's not fun.
anyway, these thoughts/feelings in particular are linked to my sincere belief that everyone's time of death is decided upon at the moment they are born and this is sort of a set-in-stone sitch. you can change your destiny, fate, qismat, what have you, but time of death will not change.
also this is a belief rooted in islam (and i am muslim lol).
ANYWAY there is one incident that i can recall for why this belief really rooted into my brain and it was back in the year 2007. i wasn't part of this experience personally, but it was relayed to me.
a couple of my nani's cousins living in pakistan went to a rally for benazir bhutto - it was actually a procession for her arrival to pakistan (in karachi) from the airport to her home. and this happened in september/october-ish.
anyway, my nani's cousins were politically on her side ie held political affiliations and at the time decided they would go join the rally/procession. 2 brothers, fanatically ran out the door together in happiness and excitement to go cheer on their favourite political leader! this was how the story was told to us later. that even though both their wives said why bother, it's okay, you can skip out, they still decided to go. nothing could or would stop them.
and as it turns out - they would not have stopped for anything at all that day. because they ran towards their death. that was when it was written for them. you see, as part of the process, there were folks who were also against her political party and they let off a bo*mb there. and these 2 brothers got caught directly in the line of fire.
anyway, i guess just the way the story was told - that nothing could stop them. nothing would stop them. though everyone tried - in the end they were pulled to that place at that time because of a higher order. because this was their ToD.
that event has been in my head since then just reinforcing my belief that death is written for us. it is a certainty - perhaps the only one - of life, that death is guaranteed. but it is also a belief i hold that it's exact time is also written for us.
anyway. today we woke up - we had no real plans this weekend and i had never told esa what we were going to be doing this weekend. as it turns out, he hasn't been to daycare since wednesday when he decided that he just was refusing to go. and so i agreed and let him stay home on wednesday - thursday and friday were more of the same, but by thursday afternoon he got sick as well.
so friday he insisted, but i would have kept him home anyway because he was a bit feverish.
in any case, we only had one dinner planned with yasir's buddies tonight (saturday night) and nothing else over the weekend. otherwise i was thinking of doing some light cooking but mostly i had wanted to focus on re-potty-training esa - which....even that i was sort of letting the ship sail because esa was not feeling well.
but this morning when esa woke up, there was only one request on his mind. "i want to go to nano house"
and he reiterated again and again and again and finally i gave in. despite that i didn't want to come to my parents because again he's a bit under the weather and it's a fair drive to come here and back and of course we did already have plans this evening (though in fairness, i was probably going to excuse myself even from those given that esa is not feeling well and the dinner was meant to start at 8 PM - which already i was not stoked about given that that's a fairly late dinner start time!).
in any case on the drive over, when we were roughly 17 minutes away from arrival, my sister called. i was seeing the whatsapp conversation happen as the messages popped up on my car, but obviously since i was driving i wasn't actually listening to the conversation. anyway she called to ask how the drive was going and to tell us that my cousin's wife sent a tornado notification in the common cousins whatsapp group.
and then while i was even just on the call with her (which wouldn't have been more than 5 minutes i think) i got the emergency notification as well.
o my goodness the anxiety that set into my stomach at that point.
i thought for sure - this is how we'll go. esa and i together trapped in a tornado.
so ya....that was a fun 15 minute drive here where i conjured up all the scenarios we could encounter as we ran towards our own end.
obviously none of them happened. but when we got into the driveway, there was a huge crow that was sitting in the yard. so of course i got even more convinced.
now, the rain has ended (it was actually quite light) and the sun is back out. and inshallah khair we might live to see another day lol (obviously who knows how many of our breaths are truly guaranteed, but we're here now).
and that's the story from today.
much love,
k

Week in Review
06/16/2024 – 06/22/2024
Sunday
Week 19 of missing Cipher Academy
Undead Unluck was super good once again…I love Kaede’s brooding backing band and I’m glad that she has a fighting chance at fighting her way to the top. I also love love love Kururu’s new look, it was super unexpected and I hope she keeps it that way for the rest of the series.
Monday
Oh no
Tuesday
Oh no
Wednesday
Finally got around to watching the second half of Game Changer’s season finale, Ratfish Part 2…and much like everyone else, I found the ending a little underwhelming. Katie won, which I’m happy about, but the whole game system just felt somewhat barren. I wish they had left the second winner to a popularity vote amongst the players like the Circle does, but that would’ve pretty much negated the use of the Ratfish entirely. And in the end, he didn’t even get to meet the players, so there was just no sense of payoff at all… Again, my favourite thing about the Circle was watching the relationships form between the contestants as they vie for popularity, but that was never going to be the game here, I suppose. I did enjoy the funny interactions we got here and there between the cast, especially in the private chats. Also loved the “medecine” bit, it felt very much like “group chat” behaviour. I wish the whole finale was just them freely goofing off.
Thursday
Oh no
Friday
The DunMesh finale with a side of fish and dumplings today (which is accidentally appropriate for the contents of the episode). It was pretty good, with a fun action scene, great comedic beats throughout, and a quiet contemplative moment at the end as Laios figures out their plan of action for the endgame. I take back what I said last time, this was a pretty good place to end the season…but as a whole, I think there was just no way for the anime to ever live up to the manga. Kui’s drawings are just way too beautiful and composed to be done justice in animation, and each chapter is a perfectly satisfying read. Trigger did a good of a job as they could, I think, so I do have to commend them for that. But the anime is like a 8/10 for me, while the manga is a 10/10. I did have a lot of fun, though, and I’m looking forward to season 2.
Saturday
Oh no
So this week was even worse than last week lol…well, what can I say, I’ve just been doing a lot of work that requires me to concentrate and not watch anything else. But I’ve realized that the new Monogatari season airs in like two weeks so I need to get serious about my binge watch…

Happy Thursday!!! Hope everything is okay and that you enjoy working on ATKH as much as I enjoy reading it. In the meantime... 🖍♻️🌎❤
Happy Thursday except now it's Friday because I'm the worst and heaven forbid I answer wonderful asks like this in a timely manner! Things are going okay! Nothing really specially and nothing really awful (I'm convinced we're going to get a monsoon soon though and everyone thinks I'm crazy but my fucked up ankle has been super sore and so I've been limping around and that only happens right before a big storm so even if no one believes me it's COMING. It's monsoon season anyway so it shouldn't be *that* ridiculous of a prediction!)
I just posted the new ATKH chapter and I hope you like it!! I look forward to hearing your thoughts!! I apologize for the delay! I ended up finishing the book I was reading last night instead of putting the finishing touches on the chapter... which meant I had to finalize it after work BUT it's up now and I hope you like it!!

Fandom: Supergirl (2015)
Title: The Child of Steel, the Poet and Judas.
Words: 1,509
Characters: 7,844
Ships: Lena Luthor/Kara Danvers (Supercorp), Clark Kent/Lois Lane, Alex Danvers/Kelly Olsen, Brainy/Nia Nal
Chapter 1. White Lies
*Hey Lia are you still coming tomorrow night?*
My best friend, Gabriela Rojas, texted me out of nowhere on a Thursday afternoon. It took me a couple of seconds to remember what was tomorrow but when I finally did I had to cuss myself out loud, I really had forgotten about it? Damn it.
There was a party tomorrow night, the biggest high school party of the whole year actually and I was supposed to ask my parents for permission but then I had forgotten about it for about a week and a half and even better, my parents weren't normal human beings. No, my mothers were Kara and Lena Luthor-Danvers which meant a lot of things but specially that I wasn't gonna get that permission.
My mother, Kara Zor-El Danvers, would probably say yes to it as she was the fun, chilled, understanding parent that knew that her sixteen year old daughter needed some freedom and fun once in a while, specially on Fridays. Plus she definitely had an extra soft spot for me, her baby and only child. Convincing her of letting me go out would definitely be easy.
On the other hand my mom, Lena Kieran Luthor, wasn't as pleasant, easy going and happy with letting me go out as my mother. She was the strict one, the one that would ground me for skipping class, feed me vegetables against my will and would make sure I went to bed before 1am. I love her but she treated me like a baby when I'm already sixteen. Booo
*Probably not. I still haven't asked for permission and you know my mom.*
Yes, she definitely did. Gaby's mother, Andrea Rojas, was an old friend of my mother so we also became really close which meant that Gaby knew how neurotic my mom could be. She was there when we went on a school trip to the zoo and I forgot to text my mom I was fine. She was there when after only an hour of silence on my part my mom mobilize Supergirl and the DEO to find me... Sixth grade was a tough year for me after that. A lot of mean comments from my classmates who's zoo experience was ruined by her.
*Don't tell her you're going, tell her you're spending the night at my house.*
*What do you think its gonna happen if she finds out I'm not at your house? You know her!*
*We rest in peace baby cakes lol.*
*… Fine I'll do it.*
I could do it, right? Lie to my incredible smart, controlling mom and my superhero mother about where I was, right? It would be a walk in the park... Who am I kidding? My mom would find out and bury me alive.
I slowly grabbed my phone, trying to decide how and who to call first. Finally I decided to call my mother first. It wouldn't hurt right? Try the safest, nicest option first instead of diving into the shark tank.
"Hey sweetie!"- My mother Kara always sounded so happy and excited, so warm and approachable with everyone no matter who or what they did. That was her-. "What are you doing baby?"
"Calculus homework, easy stuff"-. I looked down to my notebook full of numbers and equations, it was easy stuff and I was almost done with it. Thankfully I was almost as smart as my mom-. "Hey ma, so I was wondering, would I be able to spend the night at Gaby's house tomorrow?"
"Did you ask your mom?"
"No? I figured it didn't matter who I asked right? You're both my parents so..."- I used my sweetest baby voice, hoping she would say yes and not question anything else but knowing better.
"Haha you're really funny. Anyways ask your mom, you know the drill Amelia. Love you and see you at home"-. Was the last thing she said before hanging up on me, leaving me with a bunch of complains. I feel like killing myself.
The phone rang twice before my mom picked up.
"Hey my love!"- She sounded so happy. Thank God she was on a happy mood, better than her "work-is-stressing-and-I-like-controlling-my-kid" mood-. "How are you? Did you do your homework? Are you ok love?"
"Yes mom, my school work is done and I already had some food"-. I knew all her questions by heart already, she would ask the same questions every time-. "And yes, all my chores are also done, including my laundry".
"That's perfect baby! Proud of you. Now do you need anything else my love? I've to go into a work meeting soon and you don't call me at work unless you want something".
"So I was wondering, now that everything is done and I'm such a good kid with straight A's could I spend the night at Gaby's tomorrow?"- My princess voice was always a good thing to use.
"Tomorrow? You know I don't like when you wait until the last minute to ask for things like this"-. I knew it, I knew that was the first thing she was gonna say-. "Why did you wait until now?"
"I forgot, I was supposed to ask you early this week but I was so busy with homework. Also it's not tonight, it's tomorrow night"-. Yes, use school as an excuse. She would be so proud that I put my school work before my social life that she would say yes.
"This is a one time thing, ok? Next time you've to ask me in advance or I'll say no. Twenty-four hours isn't in advance and you know that baby"-. YES! It worked, I can go!
"Thank you mom! I love you!"
"Love you too Amy. See you at home".
● ● ●
"So do you have all your stuff?"- Gaby leaned on the locker door next to mine while watching how I took my Calculus book out of my locker, put it on my bag and put my science book back in the locker.
"Yeah, hot party outfit that my mom will burn if she sees it, toothbrush and pajamas"-. I had everything on a bag at the bottom of my locker, waiting to be used. We were going to finish our school day and then we were going straight up to Gaby's house, we would get ready there and then the party-. "I'm ready. How about you?"
"I have a slutty outfit waiting for me at home with some vodka shots"-. We laughed loudly, getting a few looks from people passing by but we easily ignored them.
"Is your mom going to be home tonight?"
"No, she's out of state till next Wednesday"-. We slowly started walking to our Math class, pushing our way through the full school hallway-. "So we're good, no more lies tonight if that's what's worrying you".
"I hate lying to them"-. I finally let out with a tired sigh. She laughed quietly, probably amused at how well she knew me and my rants-. "I know that's what people our age do but still, it makes me feel so bad. Like I'm a horrible daughter and I don't deserve them".
"Stop, we're both great daughters. We have great grades, we don't skip class and we don't do hard drugs. We can go out once in a while and have fun. White lies don't hurt anyone my love".
"Are we sure about that? I bet at some point someone almost died from a white lie"- The classroom was still half way empty as we sat on our regular seats.
"No we're not but it will be fine, we will be fine"-. She was definitely trying to make me stop overthinking, which wasn't working at all by the way. I should have bought my anxiety meds instead of just hoping.
"What are we talking about?"- A male voice behind us made me look back to where our friend, Steve Wade, was sitting. Skinny white boy with longish black hair, taller than us by a whole head, brown eyes, sweet voice and basic clothing style.
"The party tonight".
"Oh yes, are we going to that or...?"- He was madly in love with Gaby' who knew but ignored it, so anywhere we went he would follow us with a smile on his face.
"Yes we are"-. Gaby sounded so excited so I decided to ignore my doubts and anxiety. I'll do it for her. I'll lie to my mothers and stop overthinking for once.
"Do you wanna get ready with us? We're getting ready at Gaby's".
"Sure, am I driving us there?"- Steve was a year older than us so he had gotten his license and own car about a year ago. He usually drove us everywhere, which made me feel bad most of the time so I tried to give him gas money but he constantly refused-. "I'm not planning on drinking so..."
"That would be awesome"-. Gaby send him a kiss, making him blush and look down-. "Let's have some fun tonight babies!"

The Innkeeper's Daughter
Thank you sooooo much to @fandom-blackhole who let me take inspiration from This Ask for the original Anon and This follow-up Ask from me, and let me run wild with the premise of Pero Tovar falling in love with an innkeeper.
This one is for @silverwolf319 who sent me a request for "Ummmm...how about soft, sweet filthiness lol like, filthy dirty talk, but with feelings? Does that make sense?"
Saaaammmmm, I hope this delivers on that! 💜💜💜
Update: Part 2 is here!
Word count: 3200+
Rating: mature, 18+ only
Outline: Pero Tovar x “You” (OC cis/het female reader, “blank canvas”/no physical description/no use of “Y/N”)
Warnings: mature language; euphemisms; one use of “whorehouse” and “whore”; slow-burn; yearning; one incident of bar violence; Pero Tovar unleashing his desires verbally; lots of dirty talk; kissing; one breast grope; one erection; everyone’s clothes stay on
The first time you saw the grumpy Spaniard smile was a busy Saturday evening. Your father’s inn was full, the barroom filled with groups of raucous and rowdy men singing traveling songs and reminiscing loudly about battles won and women lost. The contrast between the exuberant hordes and the quiet, scowling man was evident to everyone, but they left him alone to brood.
“The Spaniard” had arrived in the early hours of Thursday morning and disappeared into his room immediately, sleeping the day away until supper. He kept to himself in the barroom, taking over a small table in the corner, keeping his back to the wall and his eyes on the other guests. He graced you with eye contact exactly once during Thursday’s supper, nodding at you to indicate his thanks for the ale before tucking his head back down to eat.
You knew from your two decades behind the bar that the quiet ones could sometimes be dangerous. But your father was much more concerned with the inn’s revenue and suppliers, and brushed off your questions with a wave.
“The Spaniard is quiet and doesn’t seem interested in starting trouble. He’s paid for his room in advance for the week. If he wants to be left alone, leave off.”
The Spaniard did not appear on Friday for the midday meal, but he did come back for late supper, repeating Thursday’s pattern exactly; a seat at the small table with his back to the wall, scanning the room from under his brow, a flash of eye contact to you as wordless thanks when you set down his plate and and the ewer of ale. The rest of the customers were settled for the moment, and something made you bolder than you would normally be, choosing to linger and try to break into the hard shell he wore like a cloak.
“Care for anything else? I have honey cakes set aside from the baker if you would like one.”
He grunted, a noise that was neither a yes nor a no. You weren’t sure if you should take offense or be happy that he made noise at all.
“What’s your name?”
He stopped chewing at that, and raised his eyes to yours, holding your gaze with his own deep brown orbs. The scar that ran over one eye was almost delicate, tracing a line from eyebrow to cheek that told a story of pain and must have resulted in him nearly losing the organ. You had seen many men disfigured and maimed by war and by accidents; but his scar was almost beautiful, highlighting his features in a way that made him more handsome, not less.
He swallowed roughly and grunted again. “Tovar.”
“Tovar… is that all?” You smiled wryly, hoping to pull more secrets out of him.
“Pero.” He grunted again, but this time it nearly resembled full speech. “Pero Tovar.”
He tucked his head back down and shoved more food into his mouth. You took that as your cue to go back to the bar. If he was staying all week you could wait until Sunday when things quieted down, spend a few days slowly probing. You got the sense he wasn’t dangerous, at least not to whoever brought him food and ale. You let yourself be distracted serving everyone else, and when you looked for him at the end of the night he was gone. You tried to ignore the little pang of disappointment that bloomed in your chest.
Saturday dawned clear and sunny, and you rose early to do the marketing for the inn and for your little household of two. Your mother had passed many years before, and your father prided himself on running an honorable establishment. You may have spent your formative years behind the bar of the inn, but nobody in the village mistook you for anything save an honest innkeeper’s daughter. The whorehouse was at the other end of town.
You finished your marketing and returned home, planning how to combine fresh eggs with leftover bread and meat for the midday meal. Most guests of the inn came for the late supper, but a few showed up for the midday meal and some companionship. You hoped Tovar would be one of them, but given that he had skipped the midday dinner on both Thursday and Friday, you didn’t dare hope too much.
To your great surprise, Tovar was already in the barroom when you arrived. He was dressed casually in tunic and pants and was standing on a table under the main beam, helping your father reattach the lantern. The chain had been broken for a few weeks, leaving this part of the room dark. Neither you nor your father had made time to obtain a ladder and fix it yet, but apparently for Tovar no ladder was needed. His tall frame was stretched up, arms raised to reach for the chain dangling from the ceiling, and his tunic lifted just enough to show a band of bare skin over his hips. The sight of him nearly made you drop your baskets.
You recovered your senses and looked away, greeting your father as naturally as you could. When you lifted your eyes to greet Tovar, you swore you saw the ghost of a smirk cross his lips. You hurried to the kitchen to prepare the midday meal.
When you dared to return to the bar, your father had gone, and Tovar was seated at his usual table. He lifted his eyes quickly to your face and you found that you could barely speak. Your words emerged in a breathy rush. “Are you hungry? Would you like to eat now?” You cursed your nerves and tried to settle them. Where were the other guests? Why was nobody else coming down to the bar?
Tovar looked at you sternly from under his brows and you suddenly felt like a child, caught for doing something naughty. But his next words made something in your middle turn over, fluttering like a moth.
“No. Sit with me a while.”
You sat. You were not accustomed to taking orders from strange men in your father’s establishment, but you rationalized it by telling yourself that attending to guests was good for the inn’s reputation, and that you would spring up and take care of any other guests as soon as they entered. You ignored the little whisper of lust that was suddenly at the base of your spine, tickling up like a trail of smoke from an extinguished candle.
“Tell me your name, woman.”
His question shocked you, until you realized that you hadn’t yet given it to him, and apparently neither had your father during their repair work. You opened your lips and spoke your own name, and under Tovar’s intense gaze it felt strange and foreign. He repeated it back to you in his sonorous tone, turning the fluttering moths in your center into lightning bolts.
“Are you enjoying your stay with us? Is there anything you need for your room?”
That half-smirk graced his lips for another moment, then passed away so quickly you were almost sure you imagined it. He shook his head, “No.”
You let the silence hang. Why had he asked you to sit with him if he wasn’t going to converse? Your stubborn streak won out over your curiosity and you decided to hold his eyes with your own and wait him out. Seconds stretched into minutes, and the air between you became heated, suffused with something like the vapors that distorted the air above a fire. Your hands grew moist, and you rubbed them across your lap, hoping the apron would absorb both the sweat and your discomfort. Tovar continued to look at you with interest, and the longer he stared the more you felt your face burn.
You broke first, bending your head and taking in a great shuddering gulp of air. Just then a footstep fell on the threshold and you leapt out of your chair and swept into the kitchen. When you calmed yourself and finally emerged, Tovar was gone. You let yourself get entwined in the gossip and the rhythm of your normal serving of guests, listening to the friendly chatter. By the time the bar was clear again, you decided to take yourself up to your room and rest, to conserve your energy for the busy Saturday night crowd. Saturday late supper consisted of cold leftovers and mug after mug of ale. The crowds were usually boisterous but good-natured, and you were looking forward to seeing Tovar again.
When you woke from your nap the sun was kissing the horizon, and you freshened your dress, changing into one of your nicer ones and a fresh bodice, tying a clean apron around your middle. You scrubbed your face with a wet cloth and rearranged your hair. You felt like a maiden heading to the altar, but you weren’t sure why. Nothing that Tovar had said or done so far gave you any indication that he favored you that way. There really was no need to change into clean clothing or present yourself in any special garments. Still… there was that hope, that whisper of lust that had sprung up under his gaze this afternoon. Maybe he would notice your efforts and begin to take an interest.
You entered the bar and began getting ready to serve the Saturday night crowd, handing around ewers of ale and plates of cold buns and cheese. The inn not only had a dedicated stream of locals every Saturday, but it also tended to draw groups of visitors from some of the smaller towns, as well as travelers on the road who needed a room for the night. You tried to keep your eyes on your work, but they kept flitting to the doorway without your permission, seeking any trace of the grumpy Spaniard and flickering the hope in your gut when they didn’t see him. As the barroom filled, you wondered whether he would appear at all. You pushed all hope of seeing him down, stomping on it and trying to keep yourself focused.
You hurried to the kitchen for another round of buns, and when you emerged into the bar he was there, sitting at “his” table and scowling his usual scowl. You let out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding, and you felt your face heat with desire. When Tovar saw you his face opened, and the first genuine smile you had ever seen painted his lips. The rest of the raucous room fell away, and you zipped straight to his table, depositing the plate of buns that had been intended for someone else.
“Hello Pero.” You bit your lip, never having addressed him with his name before. Was it too forward?
“Hello, mi-” he stopped himself, then said your name, almost reluctantly. Had he forgotten it in the few hours since you had seen each other last?
You smiled tightly, a little less warmly than before. Icy flakes swept over your girlish crush and your ardor cooled. If he had already forgotten your name, he must not be interested. “Ale?”
He nodded. “Yes… if you please.”
Your thin layer of ice melted. A “please” from this man was like high praise from anyone else. You nodded and went to the bar, filling an ewer and a mug, and delivering both to his table. You wanted to linger, but calls from the other side of the room interrupted any notion of getting to spend more time with Tovar.
You nodded once at him and departed, taking care of the other guests and helping your father lug another barrel of ale from the back. Every time you dared glance at Tovar he was watching you, gentle interest and curiosity issuing from his eyes, instead of the menacing scowl he had sported when he first arrived. You tried to focus on your usual tasks, letting the rowdy laughter of the bar patrons wash over you, but you could feel Pero’s eyes on you, and you couldn’t stop yourself from glancing at him again and again, far too often. Your distraction was probably the reason that disaster struck.
Your eyes were again on Pero as you made your way across the room, and your toe caught the edge of someone’s foot, causing you to stumble and spill a mug of ale all over a large man. He bellowed in anger. You saw that he was a stranger, and as he unfolded himself from his chair and stood up, you could see that he was twice as broad as you and nearly two heads taller. The ale soaked his tunic and dripped onto the floor.
Before you could open your mouth to apologize, the man raised his hand to strike you. Suddenly his furious face crumpled into pain. He fell to his knees in front of you, the raised arm now twisted behind his back. As his knees hit the floor, Pero’s face materialized behind the man’s shoulder. Pero’s trademark scowl was directed at the back of the man’s head as he hissed instructions to the stranger.
“Apologize to the woman.”
The man spit out a curse and then refused. “She’s a whore!” Another wail of pain issued from his open mouth as Pero twisted his arm up and back.
He leaned down and spoke into the man’s ear, so low that you almost couldn’t hear it. “Apologize.”
The man dropped his head to his chest and whined out a stream of words that included several “sorrys” and “my mistakes”. You looked at him, eyes still wide with shock, mouth frozen into a grimace. Pero looked at you and then gave the man’s arm one final shove. A sickening crack met your ears and the man groaned as he fell forward onto his face.
“Now leave! And do not come back.” The man and his companions scrambled to the exit, and the rest of the customers murmured to themselves as they returned to their own drinks and gossip.
“Mi alma, are you alright?” Pero reached his hand out to you and you shook your head, tears springing to your eyes.
You spun on your heel and ran out of the bar, turning to flee to the back hallway, hands shaking. You pressed your back to the wall and then bent over at the waist, trying to catch your breath. You had seen bar fights before, and broken up a handful when they happened here and there, but you had never seen violence like that up close. You had never seen such hatred on a man’s face as the anger that had colored Pero’s features. You had the sense that Pero would have gladly killed the man and not had a second of remorse.
You heard a foot scrape the floor and you shot upright. Pero was at the end of the hall, eyes flickering in the light from the lone candle on the table. He put both hands out to you, palms facing you in a gesture of openness, approaching one slow step at a time.
“I am sorry. I am sorry.” His voice was low and calm. “Please forgive me.”
“No,” your own voice sounded high and panicked to your ears. “Stop. Don’t hurt me.”
Pero’s face crumpled and he halted his approach. “Hurt you? No, never. I would never hurt you. Please believe me.” He took another step toward you.
“But that man- You, you broke-”
Pero interrupted your awful cry. “Ssshhh, no. No, mi alma. That was not a man. He was a beast. I made him apologize and leave.”
Pero took another step, closing the distance between you to one stride. You were surprised to see tears in the corners of his eyes as well.
“I thought I was saving you, mi alma. Protecting you.”
“You did, you protected me, but- How were you so fast? And why do you keep calling me ‘mi alma’?”
Pero closed the final distance between you and reached his hands out to hold both of yours. He stepped close, and you had to tilt your head back to look into his eyes.
“I love you. You have enchanted me. ‘Mi alma’ means my soul. It means you have my love and my heart.” He looked deep into your eyes. “... and my body, if you so desire.”
He inclined his head and his lips met yours. You felt your head spin, heart pulsing through every vein, pounding in your ears as you let yourself be kissed, over and over again. You had kissed boys before, and even one young man in the village, but this was like being kissed for the first time anew. Pero kissed you with passion, with intent.
His hands gripped your waist and held you to him as your fingers entwined themselves up into his neck and the hair at the back of his neck. Pero broke the kiss and leaned toward your ear. His voice was low and gravelly, striking something in your core and sending sparks to your throat.
“I fell in love with you today. When I caught you looking at me as I changed the lantern. When you sat with me and met my eyes with your own and you didn’t shy away. When I saw that you had changed into a new dress, had made yourself pretty just for me.”
Your breath left your lungs in a huff, and the only sound you could make was a low hum.
Pero continued whispering words and warm breath across your ear, sending shivers down your neck, making your nipples harden with desire.
“I will take care of you, mi alma. Let me take you to bed and show you everything that you need to know. Let me show you how to make love to a man, to please him. How to take a husband and take your own pleasure, too.”
“Ohh…” You hardly recognized your voice as your own, and before you could say more, Pero kissed you again, opening your mouth and slipping his tongue inside. He pressed his hips against you, pinning you to the wall. You could feel his hardness against your hip; but instead of scaring you or making you feel ashamed, it stoked the fire in you from a flame to an explosion.
You kissed Pero back, as hard and as eager as he had kissed you. And then you did something you never would have imagined: you reached behind your waist and grabbed his wrist, bringing his hand up to cup around your breast. He squeezed and thrust his tongue into your mouth, swallowing your moans and squeaks.
He broke the kiss again to suck and nip at your cheek, your jaw, your neck. Every kiss inflamed you further, and you pressed your hips against his, rubbing from side to side to feel his hardness through the layers of your skirts.
“Let me take you to bed, mi alma. Let me make love with you.” Pero’s voice dropped to a low rumble. You could barely hear him above the thrum of your own heartbeat, but the words sent a new rush of something hot and wet to your private area.
“Let me kiss you between your legs, to taste you. Let me show you everything I know. Let me have you, and you may have me… all of me. Let me love you, mi alma.”
Your mouth opened and you spoke the only true answer to his request.
“Yes, Pero. Please.” --- Just-here-for-the-moment’s masterlist

Snow White (Ms Venablex reader)
i made this 4am lol..google translate yk? Here is pt 2
————
“What are you still doing here?", The sharp voice of Ms. Venable made you startled.
You must be really tired if you didn't hear her coming with her cane.
You turned to her uncertainly.
"I couldn't sleep and had a cup of water .. I'm sorry Ms. Venable .."
Ms. Venable lifted her chin and came up to you. The click of her cane was the only sound that filled the hallway at that moment.
"It's 4 am Y / N .." she said when she was standing in front of you.
You didn't know exactly what she was trying to say, so you just nodded.
"I'm sorry .." you repeated, looking away.
"I'll take you to your room .." she said firmly.
"You really don't have to-" you started, but she was already walking past you in the direction of your room and ignoring you.
It wasn't that you didn't want to. The problem was, you acted like an idiot around her.
Reluctantly you trotted after her.
"So .." Ms. Venable began.
"Why could not you sleep?"
"Actually, it's nothing .." you mumbled.
"But?" She asked, looking at you sideways.
"It's the silence that bothers me .." you whispered.
"Before the apocalypse, I lived in a very rainy area. And it feels weird to fall asleep without hearing the rain pounding against my window .."
"I see .." she said simply.
"But as I said, actually it's nothing. I've been living like this for almost 19 months .. while almost the whole world is no longer alive .. So it's okay .." you added.
"You don't have to apologize .." she started.
"Just because Hell is out there doesn't mean Heaven is in here .."
You nodded.
You and Ms. Venable were silent the rest of the way, but the silence was in no way uncomfortable.
Ms. Venable stopped in front of your room.
"I can come in with you if you want .." she said casually, looking down at her cane.
"You really don't have to .. go to bed and be happy that you can sleep ..", you smiled at her.
"To be honest, I can't sleep either .." she said, narrowing her eyes.
"Oh .." you exclaimed.
"Then come in ..".
You opened your room door and went ahead.
Behind you you heard Ms. Venable follow you and close the door.
It wasn't the first time Ms. Venable was in your room.
Like many rooms, yours had a fireplace that served as heating.
You sat down on the sofa across from the fireplace and Ms. Venable sat down next to you.
Not a word was spoken. You and Ms. Venable just sat and stared into the fire.
And that was okay.
Ms. Venable's mind was on the reason she couldn't sleep.
Tomorrow's day, Halloween.
As much as she loathed and hated all these people, she was by no means a murderer. No matter how condescending she'd been to her employees, no matter how cold she'd been, murder was a whole other league.
Worse was the thought of the anti-christ sitting in her outpost waiting for whatever.
Ms. Venable hated him.
But she hated herself much more for letting him humiliate her so.
Worst of all, you saw her like that ...
You were after her the one for the interview.
————————
Ms Venable left the room with her dress half open.
"Ms Venable I-", your voice faltered.
Her jaw dropped when she heard your voice behind her.
She stopped and closed her eyes, it was all a disaster.
Behind her she heard your quick steps as you walked towards her.
"What did he do to you?", Your voice was trembling.
She turned and looked down at you. Tears glittered in your eyes.
And when she saw the way you looked at her she couldn't stop more tears from running down her face.
You reached out your hand to wipe it away.
"Miss Y / L / N .." bellowed a voice behind you.
You winced and quickly lowered your hand before turning to Michael Langdon.
————————
Ms. Venable was brought back to the present when your body fell into her lap.
"Y / N ..", she exclaimed in shock and lowered her eyes to see that you had fallen asleep.
At this point, her body stiffened under you.
It felt kind of weird how you lay there and Ms Venable couldn't tell if she liked it or hated it.
But she didn't want to wake you up, which is why she didn't move at first.
And while she watched you sleep in her lap, she couldn't help but feel guilty.
You too would die tomorrow because of her. And somehow she didn't want that, because you didn't deserve it.
She reached out her hand and started combing through your hair.
You were the only one who hadn't complained about the circumstances of the outpost.
---------------
When you came into the room for dinner on the first evening, you sat between Timothy and Coco.
You looked curiously at the small cube on your plate.
"What is that?" You asked without any disgust in your voice. It was curiosity.
"It is not possible for us to cook properly .." explained Timothy.
"And that's why these cubes exist, they contain everything you need to be full and to eat healthily .."
"Fascinating .." you mumbled and poked the cube with your fork.
"Fascinating .." Ms Venable repeated quietly at the end of the table as she watched you.
"With these dice you could have helped so many people who were starving ..." you said.
The others seemed to be making fun of why you blushed. You didn't even notice the brown eyes staring at you.
----------------
Ms. Venable smiled when she remembered it.
"Fascinating ...", she repeated your words again.
Unlike the others, you were grateful; thankful for your own room, thankful for the clothes, thankful for the warmth, and also thankful for the cubes, ...
just grateful to be alive.
And even when the sun wasn't shining, you had become the sun of Outpost 3.
-------------------
Mallory gave you 4 more books to put on the shelves.
Coco came into the library, followed by Mr. Gallant.
"I don't understand why you always help the Grays ..", Coco sighed and let himself fall on the sofa.
"I don't know how it is with you, but a parents taught me to clear away my stuff myself .." you answered annoyed.
You didn't really like Coco, she always treated Mallory like shit, even though she did so much for Coco.
"We didn't pay $ 500 million to clean up now .." said Mr. Gallant, sitting next to Coco.
You shook your head blankly. What was the meaning of money now?
The tactful knock of Ms. Venable's cane made your head wander towards the door.
You did not go unnoticed how the bodies of the other people in the room stiffened at the noise.
You never really understood why everyone was so afraid of her.
Sure, the way she treated others wasn't exactly moral and how proud she walked despite her disability was a bit intimidating, but still she was only human.
And somehow you found her attitude interesting and you made it your business to find out what was behind the rock-hard shell that she showed everyone.
"Ms Venable ..", you were happy when she entered the room.
She raised her eyes to you and raised an eyebrow, which made you blush.
"What are you doing up there?" She asked, giving you a disapproving look.
'Up there,' meant the ladder that leaned against the bookcase so you could help Mallory sort the books.
"Uhm..I-" you stuttered.
"Yes?" She asked sharply, making Coco and Mr. Gallant giggle.
"I don't know what's so funny about that .." she hissed and stared at the two who immediately fell silent.
"I help Mallory sorting the books .. I had nothing to do and wanted to help her .. We're almost done anyway .." you said and her attention was directed back to you.
"Didn't I explain that the Grays serve the Purples and not the other way around ..?"
"You did, but-"
"Your place is not with them, you wear purple .. Or do you want to wear gray from today? I don't think anyone would have a problem if we had another servant from today .."
"But that's bullshit .." you snapped.
"For my whole life I was told that all people are worth the same, no matter how rich, no matter what gender, no matter what skin color. And I am sure that you were brought up under these standards, Ms. Venable. And only because the world is dying, social skills and sociability do not have to die with it .. "
When the words left your mouth, you immediately regretted it. Your eyes widened and you clapped your hand over your mouth.
Ms. Venable's eyes sparkled with anger.
"You'd better watch your loose mouth, Miss Y / L / N .." she began quietly.
"Or you end up like Stu ..."
That was the last thing she said before she left the room and the tapping of her cane continued to recede.
----------------------------------------
Ms. Venable knew the way she sat here wasn't right.
But she knew she could never be this close to you again and that was why she couldn't leave.
She had never met anyone as selfless as you were.
You seemed like the only one at the outpost who wasn't n place in the sanctuary argued.
And Ms. Venable also knew that it wasn't easy for you, even though you were always so nice to everyone.
How many times had she stood at your door and heard you cry?
You too had lost family, friends and everything else, but you were afraid of looking ungrateful, which is why you didn't show your grief to anyone, but she heard you. And every time she just wanted to open your door and make it stop.
The idea of you curling up on your bed and sobbing inside made her sick.
But she knew it wasn't right. At least she felt like she was crossing a line when comforting you.
----------------------------
„What I miss most is the weight of full shopping bags in my hand .." said Coco and made you snort at the statement.
"What do you miss most Y / N?" She asked when she noticed your reaction.
It was evening, you didn't know exactly what day (Thursday? Friday?) And everyone was sitting in the library talking about their lives before the apocalypse and what they would miss most.
You thought about it for a moment. There was so much that you missed: your family, your friends, your job, ...
"I miss breathing .." you said.
"Breathe?" Dinah asked and grinned.
You blushed when you saw their amused faces.
"Yes .. so breathing real air, we have been breathing artificial oxygen for a year, because the air outside is supposed to be contaminated .. And I would like to breathe fresh air again .."
Your gaze fell on Ms. Venable when you noticed her watching you.
"Uhm .. what are you missing, Ms. Venable ..?" You asked her.
"Me?" She asked in surprise.
You nodded.
She looked away from you and looked into the fireplace. She was kind of embarrassed, but she didn't miss anything.
She liked being in charge of Outpost 3. And it was a nice feeling to be feared.
She had her own rules in this outpost: the Victorian dress code, the separation of the Grays and the Purples, and the lack of modern technology.
And she loved being the dictator of this outpost and everyone played by her rules.
"Family .." she said curtly without looking up from the fire.
You were surprised to hear that she had a family and you wanted to ask her about it.
Ms. Venable got up and left the room, your eyes fixed on her.
"Did you know she has a family?" Whispered Mr. Gallant.
You just shook your head.
Ms. Venable had never spoken about her life before the apocalypse as if she hadn't lived properly before.
---------------------------------
You turned in her lap.
Ms. Venable instinctively lowered her gaze back to you.
There was no way she wanted you to wake up.
Again she remembered that she was going to kill you tomorrow.
You weren't allowed to die, you were too sweet, too innocent.
You were too important. Too important to her.
And Ms. Venable couldn't admit to herself that she was in love with you. From the first moment she saw you, a confused and crying mess with endless feelings of guilt for leaving your family behind, ever since she was in love with you and she wanted you to be hers.
But she had never felt this way before.
Ms. Venable was completely alien to any feelings of love and affection.
And how should she pass something like that on if she had never found out herself?
Her fingers traveled over your face and landed on your lips.
You woke up at the feeling and immediately opened your eyes.
Ms Venable immediately withdrew her hand as she stared into your sleepy eyes and wanted to jump up, but you were still on top of her.
"Ms Venable .." you whispered confused and sat up in her lap.
"I am sorry..".
She mumbled and picked up her cane.
"No ..", you cut her off and put your hand on her left hand, which was resting on the stick.
"It's okay.."
She slowly raised her right hand and brushed your hair back from your face.
Her brown eyes stared up at you as her hand lingered on your cheek.
There was a moment's hesitation before you leaned over and pressed your lips to hers.
At that moment, you were so scared that she would push you away and yell at you in disgust.
But she didn't, because she too was afraid, but much more of what she was feeling at the moment.
She just sat there, hand frozen on your cheek, her lips sealed with yours.
You are weak, Wilhemina
You shouldn't be here
That's wrong
Stop it!
The voice in her head screamed at her, but Ms. Venable ignored it. You would die anyway, it didn't matter what she did now anyway.
"I love you ..." she whispered against your lips.
"What?", You withdrew and looked at her in disbelief.
In the light of the fireplace you recognized the tear streaks that adorned her face. Like then you reached out your hand to wipe away her tears, but you hesitated because you were unsure whether you could touch her.
When she noticed this, she took your hand and placed it on her cheek.
"I love you, Y / N .." she said aloud this time.
"Oh Ms Venable..I-" you started but she put her hand on your mouth.
"You're not allergic to apples, are you?"

BnHA 6th Popularity Poll Reaction Post - Risky Spoiler-Dodging Edition
hey guys, so seeing as the results from the 6th popularity poll were leaked today, I figured I would do a separate reaction + analysis post this year, rather than piling it in as an extra on top of the chapter reaction post tomorrow. I figure this makes more sense anyway, since they’re really two completely different things. also this way I can write as much as I want lol.
also, just fyi, I am still completely unspoiled for chapter 293. and probably the smart thing to do to keep it that way would be to log off tumblr and hold off posting this until tomorrow, but I apparently have no impulse control today so oh well. anyway, so I’m hoping you guys will keep this spoiler-free if you don’t mind! as always, I would prefer to just jump right in completely unaware tomorrow like Troy returning to the study room with the pizza boxes lol.
okay so this first part is just going to be my predictions. fyi I am writing this part on Wednesday night, and then I’ll add on the results part on Thursday or Friday (ETA: Thursday, apparently, since I am impatient.)
okay so first of all, just as a refresher, this poll was open to Japanese voters from Aug 3 to Sep 30. meaning chapters 279 through 285. meanwhile last year’s poll took place around the tail end of the MVA arc. so between then and now we had Heroes Rising, the Endeavor Agency arc, and the War arc up to the part where the 1-A kids took on Gigantomachia in Gunga, and started battling Tomura in Jakku. so technically only a couple of arcs, but a LOT of stuff going down in them. oh and season 4 of the anime as well
so! firstly, I predict that my truculent africanized honeybee son will hold on to his crown at #1, coming off a year in which he did some internship-boosted soul searching, borrowed OFA in movie canon, and finished out the voting period as the my-body-moved-on-its-own character development MVP. like CALL ME CRAZY lol, but I’m pretty sure his title is safe. and then after him will be Deku and Shouto as usual
Aizawa should hopefully also have a strong showing because the dude had a banner fucking year. reunited with his old dead friend, took on Tomura with his hopelessly inept hero pals, and then chopped his fucking leg off. he had better be in the top 10. his fucking leg died for this, idk what else he has to do
Endeavor also stands a decent chance of doing well given the internship arc and the final episode of season 4. which I’m sure will go down just swimmingly if that does happen lmao. especially if he somehow manages to rank higher than...
Dabi, which I don’t think he will btw, but you never know. anyways though, but I’m thinking Dabi’s going to have a stronger showing than in past years (in the last poll he only got 367 votes and was ranked 19th). mostly because of his fight in the Gunga mansion, and his cheekily censored name reveal to...
Hawks, who is also going to rank pretty high here, I think. might be he loses some points for killing off Twice, but his back was basically to the wall there. and he has always been very popular, and I think season 4 will also give him a boost, along with his heavy involvement in the first half of the War arc
Tomura was already in 6th place last year and I think he cracks the top 5 this year. he’s gotten exponentially more popular since the MVA arc, and got a boost in the last poll even though his flashback had only just barely happened, and he hadn’t finished Awakening yet and all that stuff. anyway, so he’s only gotten cooler and more tragic since then so I think he makes a big play here
Kirishima, Momo, Tokoyami, and Mina should also hopefully do well, since the poll opened right in the middle of all that Gigantomachia action, and Toko had just got done being an absolute badass and protecting his birb dad. I don’t think he’ll quite make it to the top ten, but he should
and last but not least, I’m hoping that Mirko will come out and take the polls by storm, although I have no clue how popular she is in Japan lol. she’s clearly Horikoshi’s favorite though. she SHOULD be everyone’s favorite, but I mean, we’ll see how it goes
anyway that’s it as far as predictions! and so now, through the magic of writing stuff at different times, we will fast-forward to the part where we actually find out the results!
OH MY GOD YES, STEAMPUNK KHLKSLLKL. HERE FOR IT. JOLLY GOOD SHOW. 5 STARS
Kacchan looks SO COCKY and SO HAPPY and SO ADORABLE, YES I SAID IT. he is adorable as FUCK. I don’t quite know what it is about this particular Kacchan that just screams “LOOK HOW FUCKING CUTE MY STUPID, LOUD SON IS WITH HIS BIZARRE WINDOWPANE-LOOKING CONVERTIBLE SUNGLASS GOGGLES and his POORLY TIED CRAVAT”, but I think it’s because he looks like if a Digimon character and a FMA character had a baby
anyway, so it looks like most of the people present here are more or less who we expected to see. except that I can’t tell for sure if that’s Dabi or Shindou, and if it’s Shindou I’m going to punch somebody in the face so you will have to excuse me
Iida wearing a TRENCHCOAT and a TOP HAT with ENGINE EXHAUST GOGGLE ACCENTS is my new favorite Iida of all time. take note how there is no possible way he can wear those goggles with them sitting on top of his hat like that. plus he’s already got glasses on. these are just purely for aesthetic and IF THAT AIN’T JUST THE STEAMPUNK WAY
Deku out here speaking softly and carrying a lead pipe. Kacchan you best look out. seems like he’s done watching you take first place year after year while he languishes in the number two spot. your only hope is that he trips while attacking you because his boots are unbuckled
Shouto’s standing over there with the rest of the non-first-and-second-place characters, but what are the odds his results are actually within spitting distance of Deku’s same as always. anyway he doesn’t mind, though. also his outfit is by far the most sensible one here, but if you look closely he’s got some sort of fire extinguisher/jet pack thing strapped to his back that’s got a control switch on his belt. Shouto are you jetpacking or putting out fires
Kirishima out here all “I’m not sure what steampunk is so I’m just going to take off my shirt and pose”
AIZAWA WITH THE EYEPATCH SKLKSDLKFJLSKJLDFKJSLDFFJLDKSJFL:KS. SIR. SIR. also, lowkey furious that Horikoshi refuses to show us the automail leg that he is clearly sporting here but which we just can’t see, SHOUTO MOVE GODDAMMIT
Endeavor has TWO fire extinguisher-slash-jetpacks. THE BETTER TO... WHATEVER. look at you here in the top ten again. you really live for that controversy
HAWKS OUT HERE WITH HIS STEAMPUNK BEATS BY DRE AND HIS WEARING A RING ON EVERY FINGER. nice to see you’ve still got your wings there, kiddo. then again Deku still has both of his arms too so who even knows what is going on
BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH, IS THIS DABI OR SHINDOU. as if I don’t know the truth deep down in my heart. y’all I am gonna flip lmao. it’s not that I dislike Shindou, strictly speaking. but just... I can’t explain what it is, but if you put him and AFO next to each other and told me “you can only punch one”, I would be having a serious crisis. just, THIS FUCKING GUY, idek. STOP SMILING
Tomura looks like he just wandered onto the set here by mistake and has no idea where he is or what is going on. it’s because you’re wearing a bigass severed hand that’s blocking your entire view, Tomura. just take the hand off your face my sweet murder dumpling
anyway! so I managed to also find a link to the full poll results while somehow managing to avoid spoilers, and then I wanted to compare the results to last year’s poll, and so I made... this
hopefully you can all see this. if you’re on desktop you might be screwed, but on mobile you should be able to click and enlarge it. I mean, assuming you actually give a fuck about boring poll analysis spreadsheets lmao
anyway, so there were actually 13k fewer votes cast this year which is a bit of a surprise. is the series not still growing in popularity? do people apparently have better things to do during their quarantine lol
anyways but despite this, and despite getting 8k fewer votes overall, Kacchan still managed almost twice as many as his closest competitor. well fought, Deku. please put down that pipe
I somehow always underestimate the power of ship popularity to influence these things. but for example, it looks like Present Mic got that Vigilantes Trio bump. ride that wave for all it’s worth my man! hell, you got me on board
Iida fucking Tenya somehow got some sort of POWER BOOST out of NOWHERE which I can’t explain at all lmao, but I’m here for it. NOT BAD FOR AN OLD MAN
Sero managed to get the exact same number of votes in both 2019 and 2020. clearly the most loyal fans in the business
Mirko being all the way down at #20 is, of course, a travesty, and I hereby nominate her to be the one to punch Shindou in the face
ngl though, the lack of a single female character in the top ten hurts just a bit. it’s not overly surprising, but still. the worst part of it is that even if you kicked Shindou to the curb and moved everyone else up one slot, it would still be all dudes since Mic beat out Momo by a margin of a little more than a hundred votes. hard to stay mad at Mic for too long, though. ah well
Tomura actually lost a bunch of votes which is a genuine surprise to me. I know the villain standom isn’t as dominant in Japan as it is in Western fandom, but still. you can go ahead and punch Shindou too I guess
Tokoyami lowkey doubled his vote count over the past year while hiding down there at #18. he is slowly becoming more powerful. biding his time
anyway so I think that’s it! I mean not really, but I’m getting kind of tired lol. so just, you know, insert the usual gripes at Overhaul’s ranking here, although we can be happy about Magne making her way onto the list (r.i.p.), and Mineta and AFO taking a very satisfying slide down (all the way out, in AFO’s case; good riddance you bum). Hadou also got a huge boost which is awesome. Mustard’s persistent ownership of the #36 spot will forever remain a mystery to me, but oh well
anyways, this was fun. and I really do feel like everyone is looking away on purpose so that when Deku brains Kacchan with that pipe in about two seconds from now, there will be no witnesses, oh my fucking god

The Cowboy - Part 11
Summary: Leaving the city for a rural area called Blayne seemed simple enough. Your task was to convince the people to agree with selling their land for a resort redevelopment. But once there, you soon realise that your city ways are entirely different to theirs. Winning their trust was going to take some effort, and when you start to fall for a local cowboy, you wonder if you really needed Blayne more than the city life after all.
Pairing: Jung Jaehyun x female reader
Genre: cowboy au / drama / romance / if you squint there’s some enemies to lovers up in here.
Warnings: Jung Jaehyun is a cowboy, need I say more? (a bit of angst and drama, and it sometimes might feel like you’re reading a Nicolas Sparks book, so I’m told lol) – highly suggestive scene and the angst train is back in action for this part
Word count: 2470
This series will be updated every Thursday and Friday.

The celebrations continued even once you were back in Blayne. News travelled that Jaehyun had come in fourth with his score at the rodeo, earning him a cash prize and a qualifying ticket. When his truck hurtled down the main street, the evening was brighter than usual.
You peered curiously at Avery and then at the diner’s lights. “Shouldn’t that be closed by now?”
“They’re waiting for us,” he mentioned with a loose grin, and you blinked blankly. “To celebrate!”
“Oh! Right, of course. Everyone knows you’ve done it.” Glancing over at Jaehyun, who had been mostly silent for the ride home, you gave him a small smile before swallowing down your emotions.
Once you had pulled away from that life-altering kiss, Jaehyun had been taken in one direction and you in the other. He had interviews to do, and people within the circuit to meet with. Although the sun had still been out when he had finished his run, dusk had swooped in and carried it away by the time you were finally loading back up into the truck.
There was so much to talk about with Jaehyun.
“We won’t stay for long,” he announced when he parked the truck into the free spot outside the diner, and a small gasp left you when you found the place bustling with people.
Avery smirked. “We’re a tight-knit community. We celebrate everyone’s successes like this.”
“And everyone’s misfortunes too,” Jaehyun muttered, plastering a smile on his face before opening the door to the truck.
You hesitated to get out, and Jaehyun turned back to look at you questioningly. Rubbing your neck, you pointed awkwardly to the party. “Should I come in or wait out here?”
“Why are you even hesitating? You’re part of this world now.”
Still unconvinced, you took the hand he offered to help you down and then nodded softly, feeling rather subdued despite the happy atmosphere.
The noise once you were all inside increased tenfold, party poppers and streamers going off around you both. Jaehyun laughed and held out his arms to the heavens. “Looks like I’m still pretty decent, huh?!”
And then you lost track of all the conversations that began around you. Jaehyun was proudly talking about his run and Avery had shown everyone the recorded clip of it. You nodded and clapped along when prodded to join in, but remained on the outskirts.
It was foreign for you to see so many people come together like this to support each other. Sure, you had friends and family, but even then, it was never like this. A text to say congratulations when you got a promotion from your parents or some quiet drinks with a few friends to celebrate an award you had received. Nothing as loud as this.
You realised you craved this more than what you had back home. The community here was one that cared about each other. Even if they gossiped endlessly and had no filter at times, each person within the diner cared about the one they sat or stood next to. They had grown together, shared their burdens and prevailed against the odds as one.
It amazed you how much you still had to learn about Blayne even after living here for a couple of months.
“Y/N, did you enjoy the rodeo?” a voice asked, and you turned, smiling warmly at June.
“It was quite the experience.”
“You look rather exhausted.”
You nodded once. “A little.”
“Jaehyun, can you run Y/N home now?”
“Oh no! This is all about him, and I’m fine. Honestly.”
Jaehyun was at your side almost immediately, and he grinned. “I bet this is all too much for Miss City here. Come on. I’ll take you home.”
“But-!” you exclaimed as he gently tugged you out of the seat you had managed to secure earlier, dragging you to the exit with a hasty farewell. He opened the door to the truck and helped you in before rounding the other side and climbing aboard.
You stared at him. “You don’t have to-”
“My Mum is a gem, isn’t she?” he stated with a small smile, waving to those inside the diner. “She always finds ways for me to escape.”
“You mean her coming over to me just now was…?”
Jaehyun grinned. “Thanks for saving my butt tonight. I get really uncomfortable after an hour of being praised. It feels foreign to me.”
“Why? You’re the golden boy. No one can touch the Jung’s.”
Jaehyun smiled sadly as he started down the road. “Attention isn’t something much that I enjoy.”
“It sure looks like you did at the rodeo,” you mentioned, and Jaehyun shook his head, changing gear on the truck before reaching for your hand.
You could tell he had been craving your touch for some time.
“I wanted to have some time with just you earlier than this.”
“It’s okay. It’s not like I need to be anywhere else.”
Jaehyun sighed. “Don’t you have people waiting on you though?”
“People where?”
“Back in the city. Your work colleagues, your friends, your family. They’ll need you.”
“I miss them, for sure. Especially Natty. But it’s not like it is out here. Relationships are different.”
“We’re different?”
“Well I’ve never met a cowboy in the suburbs,” you teased, and Jaehyun chuckled.
“What you said earlier, what we did, I get it was the heat of the moment. A different atmosphere than what we both usually-”
“Are you backing out on me, Mr Cowboy?” you asked firmly, and Jaehyun glanced at you several times before stopping the truck in the middle of the country road.
“I’m giving you an option if you want to take it.”
“Didn’t you give me that once you ducked under the bar and came to my side?”
“You’re serious?”
“You don’t think I could love you already?” you proposed, staring intensely at the man beside you.
Jaehyun opened his mouth to speak, only to close it a moment later. He grinned. “You’ve rendered me speechless.”
“Why? Because you hoped I didn’t?”
“No, I hope you fall madly for me.”
“I’m well on my way,” you confirm, and Jaehyun shook his head incredulously. “What? Has no woman ever told you that they like you?”
“I’ve never felt deserving of it, no.”
“You and that self-worth of yours,” you muttered, reaching over to cup his jaw in your hand. Jaehyun caught your gaze, and you smiled. “I love you.”
“I don’t think that’s ever going to get old to hear.”
“You’ve not said it back once,” you pointed out, and Jaehyun chuckled.
“You’ve been waiting for it, huh?”
“Normally most people describe it as one says I love you, and the next says it back. I’ve seen enough movies about it,” you mentioned as Jaehyun finally started to drive again, soon heading down the start of your driveway.
“Claim? How come you sound as if you haven’t said anything like this before?”
“Because I haven’t,” you confessed, and Jaehyun stared at you then. You darted your gaze to the drive and reached for the steering wheel to balance the truck out. “Would you watch where you’re going?!”
“Would you stop making my heart swell so much?” he breathed, and you chewed on your lip quietly, Jaehyun taking back the wheel and gripped it tightly.
The energy was charged between you by the time he turned off the ignition and opened the squeaky truck door, you soon following him out.
Stretching your fingers out to try and loosen some of the tension coiling up within you, you both walked side by side up the porch and over to your front door.
“Well, if you’re exhausted, I should let you rest,” Jaehyun stated, and you nodded numbly, reaching in your purse for your keys.
“I had a good time. Thanks for taking me.”
“Sleep well, won’t you,” he said as you opened the front door, stepping over the threshold and taking hold of the wooden frame. You turned to glance back at Jaehyun, the deep way he looked at you causing your stomach to flip.
He didn’t move, however, and you slowly moved the door to close it until his hand reached out and stopped it, your heart now pounding with anticipation.
“I’m so in love with you,” he confessed hurriedly, stepping over the doorframe and picking you up in his arms.
You curled your limbs around him effortlessly, kissing him with demand as he shut the door, hands roaming and tugging at the clothes between you both.
It felt like too much effort to follow the path up to the bedroom, Jaehyun acting disorientated as he moved around the place, shedding your upper clothing in the process. Somehow you ended up in the kitchen, a moan leaving you as he propped you down on the countertop, your hands finally ridding him of the singlet that had been under his rodeo shirt.
He equally had removed your bottoms, staring at you in a way that made you feel like the only woman made for him. You embraced him as soon as he was close enough to, and Jaehyun groaned into your ear. “I’ve been in love with you for some time now.”
“It’s not a race. Just because you hold a record around these parts, doesn’t mean you need to prove you beat me to feel something back for you.”
“You’re something else you know that? Who knew you’d come into this town and change everything for me?”
“Whatever happened to the guy who told me I wouldn’t last a month?” you breathed out, arching your back as his mouth trailed from your neck to your chest.
Jaehyun smirked at you then, his hands moving to cup your breasts within them. “You made sure about adapting to this place.”
“It’s not so bad. I mean, sometimes I would kill for the accessibility of the city, and have a Starbucks nearby. The smell sometimes out here is something I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to either.”
“I feel there’s a but attached here,” he mused, reaching up to kiss your lips passionately. It was strange to be having such a conversation with the temperature and physical needs between you increasing.
Yet when you pulled back for more air, you beamed at him. “But I’m falling in love with this place, this town, and your people. I couldn’t imagine my life any other way now.”
The new week began, and you felt as if you were riding along on cloud nine. Everything was beautiful out here. You worked, you explored, and you loved long into the summer nights with Jaehyun. Your riding lessons continued, and now that you had the hang of loping, you would often feel exhilarated riding Roger. You felt free and empowered.
Blayne was more than just a small blip on any map.
Despite it all, you still regarded the reason you came here as a priority. With your plan neatly tucked into your briefcase, and slipping into one of your more casual business attires, you looked into the mirror of the bathroom and smoothed down your hair.
“Today’s the day,” you told your reflection, smiling brightly.
Everything about you felt ready right now. You had all the signatures you had sought out, and word had travelled enough for Mr Jung to reach out for this meeting to happen a day earlier.
Today you would get the piece of land you needed to start the redevelopment.
You drove to the Jung’s homestead with your game face on, your finger tapping on the steering wheel repeatedly. You hummed a tune to yourself and ran through the opening part to your proposal in your head. When you parked the car, you smiled brightly at Avery when you crossed him on the yard, but he didn’t return the gesture quite as genuinely.
“Nice day, isn’t it?” you greeted all the same, and Avery grimaced.
“I think you might need to prepare yourself.”
“Oh, I’m completely ready for this,” you assured him, but Avery shook his head.
“Not for your plan. Listen, Y/N, things have-”
“You’re here,” Mr Jung cut in, and you turned your attention to the elder, nodding confidently at the man. “Come inside.”
Following him in and frowning at Avery’s worried expression, you stopped midway in taking the seat across from Mr Jung’s desk when you noticed Jaehyun sitting in the one next to it. “What are you doing here? I can pitch my idea to your father alone.”
“Pitch your idea?” Mr Jung repeated, laughing hollowly. “I didn’t ask you here today to listen to any nonsense about the resort plans your company has. I have no interest in them.”
“With full respect, Mr Jung, I’ve worked incredibly hard with the people of Blayne to find a happy medium.”
“And just how many of them did you sleep with or was it just my boy here?”
“Dad!”
“No. I want to hear it from her. Was it in the plan you made to sleep with my son to get the land, to trespass onto what can never be yours, and fool this idiot into thinking you could actually have something together?”
You were rendered speechless, your game face falling away and crumbling into a thousand pieces. You tried to say something, anything, to not only prove your sincerity but to defend yourself against his vicious attack.
However, Mr Jung’s tongue wasn’t done yet, and he glared at his son, shaking his head slowly. “I should have left you to die in that fire you started. If this was how you wanted to end Blayne, I’d much rather you have gone up in smokes back then than face you and your betrayal now.”
The information stunned you further, and your head jarringly turned to the man now sobbing in the chair beside you. “You were the one to start the fire?”
“It’s not how you see it!” Jaehyun exclaimed, though to whom, you didn’t quite know.
Regathering yourself, you shook your head. “Mr Jung, please allow me to explain myself, as you requested earlier.”
“You have nothing of worth for me to listen to. I’d like for you to pack your bags and be gone from Blayne before sunset.”
“Excuse me?! Surely I can do something to change your opinion-”
Mr Jung slammed his fist down on the table. “Outsiders like you only cause problems for the people who breathe for this place. Get out and don’t come back.”
Glancing at Jaehyun, who was rocking back and forth in his chair holding his head, and then back at the resolute expression on the owner of this land’s face, you finally allowed your emotions to burst through, choking on the sob that followed.
“I’m so sorry!” you announced before turning for the door and running out it.

Wordplay 5.0 Reflections
I dunno what else to call it lmao it doesn't sound right to call this a meme, but whatever it is, here we are! lol @so-why-let-your-voice-be-tamed came up with these questions after @wordplayfics wrapped up last year and I love them so i'm gonna use them for this year as well.
I'm going to start out with listing the prompts and linking the fics i wrote for each one for everyone's reference, though I'll be linking them again through the answers as well. I'm also putting all the questions and answers beneath a read more because, as usual, I rambled lmao Alright! Here we go!
Struggle: I Said It Wrong, But I Meant It Right Reduce: I Love This Feeling (But I Hate This Part) Divide: He Carries The Key Rise: Thou, Sun, Art Half As Happy Sketch: I Heard You Talking
How did you come up with your ideas for the fics? Can you take us through your process after first receiving the prompt?
I don't know that I have a set way I come up with my fic ideas for Wordplay. It all depends on the prompt and what fic ideas I've got on my "to write list" that might fit that prompt. If nothing on my to write list fits or can be tweaked for a prompt, then I just go through my prompts tag until something strikes me for it, or I just ruminate on the different ways the word can be used and see if something comes up.
So, when I did the random word generator for the first prompt and "struggle" was the word that came up, I immediately thought of "struggle bus". lolllll and when I went looking through my to write list, I saw the girl Payneshaw fic I wanted to write and I was like omgggggg Nick ABSOLUTELY is riding the struggle bus the ENTIRE FUCKING TIME and I knew that was my fic for the week. lmaoooo and there you have it.
What is your favorite fic you wrote for Wordplay this year?
oooohhhh this one is HARD AND MEAN lmaoooo i forgot this was a question asked. okay legitimately i cannot choose a favorite because i'm actually stupidly proud and happy with all of the fics i wrote this year.
If you’ve participated in previous years of Wordplay, what has been your favorite prompt from all years you participated in?
WELP. as the creator of this challenge, i've participated in all 5 years which means there've been 25 prompts i've written. lolllll and honestly i think my favorite prompt is STILL from the first year. it was "bloodsucker". like, how great of a prompt is that???
What was the shortest fic you wrote this year? The longest?
the shortest one this year was... I Said It Wrong, But I Meant It Right at 4381 words.
the longest one was... I Heard You Talking at 10580 words.
What fic of yours surprised you?
i think all of them surprised me in some way. that's part of the joy of writing fics, isn't it? lollll but i think the one that surprised me the most was Thou, Sun, Art Half As Happy. it was a last minute change (i'll elaborate in the answer to the next question haha) and it was a VERY different direction than i had planned. it was all based off of a photo i saw on tumblr, and there was no prompt with the photo. i got to just take in the basic idea of the sticker being placed on a bridge overlooking the city and what might make that spot a good kissing spot.
now, as an ace who doesn't actually ENJOY kissing, i... didn't think about the fact that i would be writing a lot of it. lollll i actually have a super hard time writing kisses and trying to make them varied while also relaying the emotional intimacy of the moment, and then add on top of that the fact that once i started writing the fic, both harry and louis let me know pretty much as soon as words started getting written that they were both genderqueer and that worked differently for each of them, so harry would use they/them pronouns and louis would use he/him still, it just made things more interesting. and the way the fic developed??? like, i had a very vague idea of what would happen in the fic. so the way it actually came about all surprised me.
long answer short, from the very start, this fic surprised me and i was just along for the ride. it was a BLAST and i sure do love it, even if it does have the second lowest hits of all the fics i wrote this year haha
Were there any prompts you struggled to find an idea for?
STRUGGLED HAHAHA sorry. just funny since struggle was a prompt this year. ANYWAY. the prompt i had the hardest time with was defo rise. i've had this fic idea ever since greg james tweeted with shawn mendes months ago about how shawn basically forgot his interview with greg on the breakfast show, so greg had to last minute wing a LOT OF AIR TIME AND SHOW CONTENT and he did a great job, but it brought about some funny content... anyway. that made me wanna write a triad a/b/o fic where greg is louis and harry's beta. rise was going to be used in a lot of different ways through the fic, as well. because breakfast show requires greg to rise from bed early, he gets a rise out of harry and louis with his behavior and overt flirtations with shawn, they have to rise above their jealousy, etc etc etc. i was VERY EXCITED.
except i only had three days i was able to write every week this summer, and those were really really difficult to get. if i wanted to write on tuesday or thursday, i was often curling up with my laptop in a dark room with some caffeine and candles burning to soothe me after the insanity that is my life atm, and write for as long as i could before my brain stopped functioning, which was often only around 30 min. but see, that particularly week was the worst part of my son's 18 month sleep regression, which meant instead of him sleeping and letting me write, i was driving him around or trying to rock him back to sleep or letting him play in an attempt to tire him out etc etc etc and by friday morning i had to admit to myself there was no way i could write that a/b/o fic in my one guaranteed evening to write every week (saturday, btw). so i was suddenly left with around 36 hours to find a new fic idea and develop it enough to be able to write it in one evening.
as i said in the answer to the first question, i usually go to my prompts tag to see what might inspire me with this prompt word in mind, but for this one that wasn't the first place i went. i tried looking at more definitions even though i'd done that earlier and nothing was inspiring me. so i then spoke to several friends and was still having a hard time finding any ideas that felt like something i would enjoy writing and could do so quickly.
by saturday morning, knowing i had less than 12 hours to figure out what i was writing so i could actually WRITE IT in only like 2-3 hours of writing time, i finally sat down and scrolled through my prompts tag. once i did, i saw the photo for the "good kissing spot", and i immediately thought of sunrise. so i ran with it. but i wanted to make it stylinshaw, so how would i work that in, etc etc etc. it was just very fast and very difficult trying to figure out how i would structure it so it could be a fun meet cute kind of fic, but also work into them actually building a meaningful connection etc and... well. it was a lot. haha so yeah, it was just a hard time overall that week, but i'm super proud of it in the end.
Were there any prompts you had an idea for but ended up writing something different? If so, what made you choose to change what you wrote? Do you think you’ll ever write your original idea at a later date?
HA okay well i already answered most of this above, but for the last part of this question, yes i will absolutely write my original idea at a later date. the whole reason i decided not to do it wasn't because i couldn't turn it into a fic that could be written in that one writing session, but because i had hopes for what that fic would be, and i didn't want to shorten and condense it enough to do that. i didn't want to have to lessen the dreams i have for that fic in my head, so i decided i would just put it back on my to write list and save it for later. who knows when, but that fic will absolutely get written.
What do you think was the most difficult as well as the easiest part about the Wordplay Challenge?
most difficult was 100% finding the time to write. that was insanely hard for me all summer, but by the time wordplay was going, things at home had ramped up to being very overwhelming regarding the demands on me and my time, and what i had been doing to carve out some time for myself and writing wasn't working anymore, so i had to adjust even more with the understanding that i was working on a really strict timeline too. so yeah. just finding the time was absolutely the hardest part for me.
easiest part was the actual writing. these fics really flowed from me, outside of the pack fic, that one was actually pretty difficult to make sure i was getting the dynamics exactly the way i wanted to have them turn out, but even with that aspect, it still was like it flowed from me most of the time. these fics really just took over and i was along for the ride. it was a blast.
If you participate again next year, is there anything you’ll do differently? If so, what?
lmao well assuming people still want wordplay to happen again, i'll run it again and very likely will take part. so... with the difficulty i had in finding any time to do anything this summer, i was actually ridiculously stressed when it came to the writing part, but also the modding aspect of it. so i am not sure that i'll run it during the summer again next year. i might have it go during the early fall once school is back in session so i at least have only one child at home instead of three to battle lol so that's one thing i'll hopefully be doing differently.
as for the writing aspect, i don't think so actually. i've done 5 years of this, and i'm having fun with it. haha if i ever find a fic idea i think could work for it, i would consider doing a series for it next year, but it all depends on if there's something i'd like to write that could work for that kind of set up with this challenge.
if you made it this far, thank you for reading!!! xxx
