i am so late T T i only recently just found out about pocky day too !! Anyways . . .

Adrien ! When you bring up a box of pocky ( his favs are probably the cookies and cream ones ) he would immediately put two and two together and realize you want to do the pocky challenge ! He's more than happy to do it with you , making sure he chomps the pocky as quick as he could so you wouldn't be able to pull away before you were finished T T the moment your lips touch , Adrien slides a hand behind your head , holding you in place as the sugary pocky lingers on both your lips !

Vallen ! He's an old—not old—man , doesn't know a thing about “social media trends” ! So when you bring up a box of pocky he's confused at first , accepting the treat and placing it on his desk for later ( he'd probably enjoy the green tea ones ! ) but once you tell him what your intentions were , his interest is immediately piqued ! all of a sudden he's placing his reading glasses down and opening the box to pull out a pocky for the both of you. he places the bread stick bit in his mouth , leaning back and curling a finger at you like he's calling you over. Somehow this man turns everything from you trying to fluster him , to him flustering you ! As you lean onto him and nibble at the stick , there's an insanely distracting hand that cups the space where your jaw meets your neck and he's rubbing small circles on your face. The kiss part is light and quick , hes a busy man !

Cole doesn't understand it either T T pocky isn't really a thing he has in his town so at first he's really curious to what you gave him ! he'd probably melt on the inside if you tell him its a sweet from the city . . . He's already planning to bake his family recipe for you afterwards. You have to explain the game to him because he simply does not know what it is ! when you tell him that it's basically where the two of you eat from one stick , he's already flushed all over. He's red head to toe at the thought of touching lips with you ! ( even if he has . . . Plenty of times ) he'd probably enjoy choco banana or strawberry. He's not even eating the stick when you start , he's just kind of there , watchin and waitin for you to come close enough to kiss ( he wants you to eat more of the pocky out of courtesy T T ) He smiles into the kiss like a fool before asking you to do it again !

Callahan thinks its a stupid idea. He knows exactly what you want but he's not going to give in ! You'd have to haggle him abit , tell him that you'll give him one piece of information in exchange to do this game and surprisingly he does it ! When you're both putting your lips on either end, you can feel Callahan's thick stare , like he's watching you incase you run away or something. He waits for you to get a breath away from his lips before pulling away , muttering something along the lines of 'i don't need your useless information' but really he pulled away because you looked too cute slowly leaning into him like that . . . ( almond is probably his favorite ♡ )

what the hell did katsuki think she had?

if anyone ever told her they have crazy issues, woman or not, she'd get a restraining order.

and the worst part:

she really wanted her volume of maid-sama back.

she had barely slept the night before, she decided to take the day off of school, because she couldn't promise denki would walk off scott-free if she was left alone with him.

she relaxed in her room, deciding to catch up on fruits basket while snacking on some pocky.

maybe she should just stay holed up in her dorm for the whole week? no, the make up work would put her seriously behind. and nobody except katsuki was a good enough student to help her catch up.

she screamed into a pillow, when suddenly she heard a knock at the door.

what? but it's literally already ten? schools been on for an hour. [name] pondered.

she walked on over to the door, and to her horror-

katsuki was there, holding a plastic bag filled with candy and snacks from what she could see, all the volumes of maid-sama he'd lent from her, and boba.

"uh-- what're you doing here katsuki?"

"heard about your problems."

[name] felt her face flush, great.

"oh, yeah those. y'know hormones and stuff--"

"are you not gonna let me in? i took my day off to bless you with my presence."

"i didn't know you wanted to be let in. if i did i would've welcomed you with my arms wide-open."

"what?"

"uh.. just come in."

[name] facepalmed as katsuki walked right in, setting the volumes on her shelf right below her figures and posters.

she tried to act casual, resuming her spot on her bed as she patted the spot next to her.

katsuki handed her his bag of gifts. if it were any other day she'd squeal in happiness. but the close proximity between them set a pit of dread in her stomach.

she really didn't want to mess up the relationship between them, so she hoped she could just keep her mouth shut.

"i'm not gonna ask what your problems are, it's probably some shit i wouldn't get. so wipe that look off your face."

oh. right.

"yeah, yeah, got it. wow, your bedside manner is pretty lacking katsuki."

"yeah, whatever."

"why'd you take a day off just for me anyways? am i special to you or something?"

she took the opportunity to jokingly cling to his arm, and adorned a smug look on her face.

"no. and take that dumbass look off your face."

"really? did you come so late because you went to the store just for me?"

"..."

"huh? huh?"

"i'm leaving."

he said, as he pulled his arm away from her clutches and stood up.

"wait no! i was just joking! come back!"

"what? do you want me here or something?"

"yes."

"oh. uh.." he wasn't expecting her to actually answer so straightforwardly, she could even see the tips of his ears turning pink. she would've been embarrassed too if she hadn't gotten used to the quirk already.

her ego was at an all time high as she clocked it. she was flustering him.

"no way. don't tell me you like me or something katsuki."

she swore she could see steam coming out his ears.

"wait i'm sorry! don't leave please! i was just joking!"

he grunted and sat back down. this time a bit further away from her. he still didn't look at her, the reason being unbeknownst to her.

but for him, it was actually because his heart was pounding like crazy.

she decided not to push it further, she wanted him to stay with her for at least a little bit.

she opened the plastic bag to be greeted with her favorite snacks.

he remembered.

it was surprising to her that he did, she had only told him once before what her favorites were, and that was only because of the class's secret santa back as first years.

she smiled warmly before opening the bag and offering him some chips.

he accepted and they had set into a comfortable silence.

she finally got bored of it though, and broke it.

"so, did you finish the next volume yet?"

"yeah i did, i really thought misa would've transferred."

"really? i would've thought you'd know that she'd stay. that was pretty predictable i fear."

"i only thought so because i would've transferred if i was her. the opportunity to go to the best school? i would've took it in a second."

"of course you would."

"the fuck does that mean?!"

their playful banter thankfully didn't spiral into any dangerous territory for [name]. they talked for hours, with katsuki even stealing denki's console to play mario kart on.

after a pretty even game streak, [name] ended up the winner, much to katsuki's despair.

they would've stayed playing for even longer, but katsuki eventually had to go though, unlike her he actually had to eat real food.

"see ya katsuki!"

"yeah, bye."

she had given him four more of her volumes to read. but he had forgotten his chips.

"oh wait katsuki!" she ran up to the door.

"wha-"

just as he turned, she tripped on some invisible force, right into his chest. and tackled them both onto the floor.

they both grunted as they fell.

her face was flush against his. her lips grazing his.

she was now rushing to support herself, and eventually used her two hands, the chips miraculously still in the bag as katsuki laid underneath her. she was pinning him down.

"oh, uh-"

they had matching rapid heart beats.

"i'll just um-"

do something coward!

"get off now."

loser.

"wait."

"huh?"

"uh.. i need-- fuck.

i need--"

"[name] and bakugo are totally making out right now!" mina called from down the hall.

everyone had just come back from school.

[name] and bakugo scrambled to get up, he shoved the manga in her hands, helped her up, and then stormed to the boys side of the dormitory.

mina and the girls eyed her knowingly.

"i don't wanna talk about it!"

but talk about it she had to.

at eight-o-clock sharp they bursted into the room, now with a couple new faces.

jirou, uraraka, and momo to be exact.

"what the hell guys?! tell the whole class why don't you!"

"come on [n/name]! the more the merrier right?" mina reasoned.

"wrong!"

ignoring her protests, they then proceeded to take out the gigantic chalkboard and rewrite the operation.

"oh, and we already told them what's up with you and bakugo. and the quirk thing." denki said.

"yeah, sorry [name], denki kinda told your secret to us at lunch today." jirou added.

"goddamnnit denki!"

"so you have a crush on bakugo? why?" uraraka asked.

[name]'s heart almost burst out of her chest as she was forced to respond. "well he's cute, and he's seriously dedicated. i like his passion, his eyes, everything about him basically."

"aw! you're so romantic [name]!" momo gushed

"shut up!"

"and explain what you were doing pinning him down in the middle of the hallway earlier! how scandalous--"

"it was an accident! what does that have to do with the operation anyways?"

"huh? oh yeah the operation!"

mina turned back to face the board, the chalk screeched uncomfortably as she added a subsection on the board.

FORCE [NAME] TO CONFESS (after quirk wears off)

"what? hey that's off topic!"

"well, tomorrow and wednesday we have missions with our mentors so we'll be out of school. which means you only have to worry about three more days, which also means we'll have to have these meetings on our phones-"

"i think what she's saying is that we don't really have to do any major strategy changes until thursday." sero cut in, effectively ending mina's rambling.

"oh, hey you're right!"

"so that means we can focus on you and bak--"

"nope, that means this meeting is over! everyone out!"

"what?"

"seriously?!"

"and it was just getting to the fun part!"

everyone collectively groaned as [name] sent them off forcefully.

after kirishima shut the door behind him, she could finally let the secondhand embarrassment from her earlier encounter set in.

it was already ten, so she really needed to head to bed if she wanted to be good for tomorrow when mirko swung by to take her to a mission.

as she threw herself onto her bed, she pondered over katsuki's reaction earlier.

could he really like her back? they technically kissed earlier.

her face felt hot as the realization set in. technically he was her first kiss. and they'd need to talk eventually-

oh well, at least she didn't need to worry about him for two days...

right?

Yea!!! Can you tell I have favorites lol

so since it's the 20th in my time, it is officially my birthday today!

But I wanted to get this out regardless so kinda count it as the previous day's ig

I will be posting something later today probably but it will most likely just be a compilation of all the cakes I've done thus far.

Ok but um on with the cake!

It's like a cheesecake and I basically copied Tengen's cake with like a jelly filling with fruit suspended in it, peaches (obviously), strawberries and blueberries cause I like them and sod it I'll put them on this goddamn cake!

The thing Wukong's sitting on is one of those peach ice creams that's gotten so popular lately with the sprinkle of pink dust thingy on top.

On either side of the cake is the fillet from the journey and the hat from the brotherhood era, one from his reckless past and one from his redemption and I just think that's neat.

The blue puffy stuff is meant to be his nimbus clouds represented as cotton candy.

I have the baiju jar in there as reference to Wukong becoming immortal again due to the all the wine made from the peaches of immortality at the festival.

The staff as a little candle was so fun! And I like pocky so I chucked them on there to fill space and it looks good so sue me

The grey thing behind the staff and balloon is meant to be the Buddha's hand that trapped him under the mountain and a reference to his imprisonment under 5 phases mountain.

Peach popsicle! Of course I had too! A lil something from the present for our (shadow) peachy friend

Mk's stone as well, had to add his son in there too. The baby ever.

The two sugar cookies are meant to be his logo (aka the lmk logo) and fireworks, again taken from Tengen's cake.

The sun is a candied/tanghulu esque orange thing. Like an orange slice coated in yellow melted sugar shaped like a sun and the phoenix feather cap since I consider it iconic enough to put in here. I didn't want to put it on him, blocking a lot of the decorations so I just hung it to the side and I think I'm happy with that.

A lot more monkeys here! It was very fun popping them in! I know I only gave Mac 1 but I mean Wukong's the monkey king for a reason. Let him be a loving grandpa and invite his subjects on the cake with him. He granted them immortality by ripping their names out the book of dead, let them have a place on the cake too

Also, yes that is the origami pilgims in the bottom left, I couldn't leave them alone could I?

Now the elephant in the room (or at least in my head), yes I did use @maplesleep's matcha pancake design for flower fruit mountain.

Cake on cake. Bit much but hey, I like cake and pastries better than candy normally so win for me.

And I couldn't just make cake about Sun Wukong without mentioning his home/origins of ffm. I do genuinely love the inginuity and adorableness factor of the pancake design and hope they don't mind me slapping it on my...cheesecake? Jelly cake? Jelly-cheesecake?

(also I have to ask @maplesleep, did you watch the 3rd emirichu anime cafe video, specifically the urusei yatsura cafe as inspiration for the 'sun wukong's strawberry sponge cake punishment' parfait thingy, gorgeously drawn btw I used those drawings as inspiration quite a bit for these cakes, or saw the urusei yatsura collab anime cafe

cause I couldn't help but notice the similarities between that and the 'shinobu's maiden strength parfait' cause if you didn't that be a pretty funny coincidence lol)

So what do you think? You think I could make it as another lmk food chef for lego? Can I join the club lmao?

I do realize in retrospect the disrespect I did Mk by making his cake so plain by comparison to his mentor's. But I think that's a testament to my improvement and attention to detail when making these cakes as the days have progressed!

I consider Mk's in particular to be the most lacking and I lowkey feel so bad for my boi for not giving him the main character status he deserves.

I might draw him again, idk. Not anytime soon though, like I said, I'm quite busy now more than before and I need a break, still glad I could serve y'all another slice of cake though!

Genshin Impact - Lyney x Aether

A/N: I know I'm a few days late, but I'm at the end of my semester, so be nice to me and let this one slide off

Summary: Lyney shows Aether his new magic trick

Word count: 827 words

“Traveler ~” Lyney sang, waving his hand high above his head as he spotted Aether. The Serenitea Pot wasn’t that large, but the pocket dimension seemed to be big enough to make their encounters a little harder than Lyney expected - not to mention the other people wandering around from time to time.

Having his attention picked by Lyney’s voice, Aether turned his head back and watched Lyney approaching him with a happy facade while holding something behind his back. What would he be up to this time, the traveler thought.

“Did you call me, Lyney?” Aether said, leaning his back on the couch’s back while watching Lyney walking around to stand in front of him, winking charmingly at him.

“Of course I did, mon chéri,” the magician continued, now holding whatever it was behind his back with both hands. “I came up with a new magic trick and you happen to be the perfect assistant to help me practice it, so here I am, asking for your aid.”

Aether rolled his eyes with a soft chuckle. He and Lyney had been getting… a little closer since he arrived in Fontaine. It was hard to tell when the magician was flirting for real with him or just jesting to keep their relationship interesting, but Aether liked the casualty of the whole thing. Right now, he couldn’t tell which one it was - truth to be told, it was always hard to know what was going on inside Lyney’s mind.

Sighing, Aether stood up, lazily stretching his arms as if to get prepared for the upcoming action. “Alright, what do I have to do?” The traveler asked, noticing how his words made Lyney beam with excitement.

The magician finally revealed what he had in his hands: a pocky box. He had heard of a new candy getting popular among the people in Fontaine, but didn’t have the chance to try one for himself yet. “A pocky?”

“My dear, isn’t it too soon to jump to conclusions?” Lyney scolded him lightheartedly, shaking his head in “disapproval”. “I didn’t even have time to set up the stage, why such a hurry?”

“Fine,” Aether muttered, crossing his arms, waiting for the magician to continue. Lyney, making sure to put up a whole performance around each and every act, pulled one pocky from the box, looking to Aether.

“Now, my dearest assistant, say ‘ahhh’ to me,” Lyney cooed, holding the pocky in front of Aether’s lips with the tip of his fingers. The traveler blushed slightly, swallowing dry as he tried to ignore the way his heart skipped a bit seeing Lyney like that in front of him.

“A-ahh…” But he obeyed, nonetheless. Lyney carefully placed the candy inside his mouth, letting him taste the sweet chocolate of the pocky. Aether hummed happily with half of the pocky hanging out of his mouth while Lyney tossed the box away.

“Now, for my next trick,” Lyney said, grinning, “I’ll make the pocky disappear! Don’t blink or you might miss it,” he announced and Aether raised an eyebrow.

Was that some kind of prank? Would Lyney make the pocky turn into a flor or something like that? It was hard to figure out how he would make it vanish from his lips, but that should be something within his skills as a magician.

“In one… two…” Lyney began to count and Aether looked down to the pocky’s end sticking out of his mouth, ready to catch any action - or magic - that was about to unfold before his eyes. “Three!”

As the countdown ended, Lyney quickly cupped Aether’s cheeks with his hands, pulling the traveler a bit forward and pressing his lips against his, kissing him gently, but briefly. Before Aether could protest - or even process the whole act - a small ‘crack’ noise echoed from between their mouths as Lyney bit the exposed end of the pocky, quickly munching it and, indeed, making it disappear.

“Ta-da! ~” Lyney cheered, taking a step back while Aether nearly choked with the other half of the pocky.

When he finally managed to swallow it, he felt the heat reach his face, now able to realize the whole thing. “D-don’t just ‘ta-da’ me, w-what was that?”

“Oho, mon chéri, you should already know a magician never reveals his tri- w-woah!” Before he could finish his usual saying, Aether grabbed him by his wrist, pulling Lyney down to the couch with him.

“You little brat,” Aether scolded, trying to sound angry despite the blushing mess he was, eagerly digging into Lyney’s sides and tickling over his stomach to ‘punish’ him for his trick, “do you think it’s funny to fluster me like this?” 

“A-AhahAHa, t-trahahahaveler! WahAHait, i-it wahahas just a jehehest!” Lyney laughed, wrapping one of his arms around his own torso while trying to push Aether’s hand away with the other. “N-nohoho neehehed for thihihs!”

Aether huffed, not convinced by Lyney’s excuse, but he couldn’t deny: that was, indeed, a good magic trick.

Lots of hugs all DAY he is the best hugger in the Pizzaplex, and he's so warm. He will also be carrying you around everywhere bridal style if that doesn't bother you, he just loves physical touch

Freddy would offer to take you to dinner with him, but since he can't leave the Pizzaplex you would be going to one of the restaurants in the mall. He's an old fashion lover boy he loves the classic date style

He has the staff bots catering for both of you and they're all dressed up with cute bows

or if you don't want to eat out in one of the restaurants he would happily eat dinner with you in his room

Ofc he's traditional and brings the bouquet and a note card full of adorations for you <3333 ending it off with 'love you forever and ever'

and if you gift him flowers he will instantly make room for it on his dresser and try to preserve it for as long as possible, always looking at it during his days

and if you give him a note he'll be a gushy mess and give you so many hugs and kisses, and will keep the note forever (and keep the more to come) in a hidden box in the storage room. Can't have staff coming to throw something as important away!

now if you two aren't together already he's going to be a mess

since the pizzaplex is covered with her favorite color she's already ecstatic, and would love to just wonder around with you to see all the decorations

girl knows how to make anything you ask

AND you can help and it'll be fun and cute and she'll get so GUSHY the whole time

but you'll also probably end up making pizza

the pepperoni is heart shaped <33 and so is the pizza, and all the cooking supplies with be valentine's day themed with hearts and pink handles, and she'll have a pink apron that says 'please kiss the chef' or something like that, with a small quote on the pocket that says 'be mine' with a heart and an arrow through it

once you finish your dinner she'll have a selection of treats too, specifically chocolate themed

shopping, you both WILL be going shopping

she would want to do matching couple outfits, or just several outfits and take millions of pictures with you all over the pizzaplex

one of them with be you both sharing a pocky stick and then another with you both kissing and AHHH

chica would want something to match with you to wear all the time, maybe a bracelet or a necklace, maybe an earring, something to think of you while you're away

the date will probably end with you both baking whatever pastry you like, but there's a good chance it'll be chocolate cupcakes!

of course she'll have a handful of valentine cupcake decor for it, with hearts as the sprinkles and cute wrapping

you both can hand them out to the other animatronics as gifts and then go back to her room and cuddle :3

will be singing your hearts out too, most likely to ABBA while dancing around her room

it's got sleep over vibes and she'll give you some pink pajamas

Now if you give her a gift she'll read the card out loud all happy and smiley and pin it next to her mirror to see it every morning <3

she'll give you a plush at the very end of the night of herself, and since she's already pink the plush will have reds as accents instead of the greens, her earrings are heartssss. And when you squeeze the plush it says 'You stole a pizza my heart!'

isn't too excited on valentine's day, or at least acts like she isn't

she says it's too 'mushy' and the whole romantic aspect of it is just super overkill

but

when she says she's 'no romantic' but will be racing around the tracks leaving marks in shapes of hearts

she's spoiling you, will get you anything you want

already has flowers and a love letter, and as cool as she acts the love letter is actually really sappy and cute

also gives you a plush of herself

its got her green hair tip pink instead with pink claws, and when you squeeze it it says 'you make my heart race!'

won't even ask if she can take you on a date she already knows it's a yes, who could say no to her?

will however ask you what you want to be doing, not really sure herself. She may be confident but she has no idea what she's doing

now IF you two weren't together already and she was wanting to ask you out for Valentine's Day, it would be a struggle with her ego getting in the way, but HER having to ask? Come on she's Roxanne Wolf

But also at the same time everyone should be swooning over her, so there's no way you would say no

but then she realizes she's still cool, who gives a fuck, and will ask you out on a date

you both will be doing some gaming to bond over, ofc you will be doing Roxy's Raceway first, and she even lets you winnnnn

with all the tokens you've both won you both definitely are going to the Prize Counter

it'll be ten times funnier though if you can't sing, you both won't be able to stop giggling

to end the day you both will go to her room and do each other's makeup while in each other's laps

Roxy will go over all the Valentine's Day cards she got from all her fans, and you can tell it's giving her such an ego boost by how happy she looks and the way she wags her tail

and you both get a good laugh at how wild some of them are too

Monty's similiar to Roxy in thinking Valentine's Day is a mushy holiday, why go all out with heart eyes at you, he already does that everyday

but, he kind of wants to do something for you when he sees how excited you are about it the week before

He's the type of guy that writes down every anniversary and has a plan and knows what to say and knows what he wants to do to surprise you but then the week it's there he forgets

And then feels really bad about it because he's a last minute planner

HOWEVER if it's your first Valentine's Day he's stressing for weeks

Never would he have thought he would care about this holiday, and by this much, but he does

He has to ask Freddy where he got his flowers because he's been trying to figure this shit out for ages

he doesn't know what he's doing but he's gonna act like he knows what he's doing

won't ask you directly at first if you want to have a date but instead throw a show for you instead, at his own stage at the golf course

and then after that offer to golf with you

while not directly asking you to be his valentine

But he let's you win a few games too

then coughs grabs the flowers he got for you, along with a plush of himself. And also your own golf club with your favorite colors and his signature on it with a heart, he says its not a heart though it's just a random scribble he did on accident

DON'T LAUGH AT IT he's already not great at this sentimental stuff but he's trying!

the plush also is special addition with a pink mohawk and pink shoulder pads and when you squeeze it it says 'you rock my world!'

will be hanging out with you for the rest of the day, mostly asking you what you want to do, secretly wanting to have a dinner but not saying it

maybe next year

seeing you this happy makes him want to go all out next year, so long as he remebers

ends the night with you two in his room and, now that he's more comfortable and confident with how the day went is singing sweet nothings to you while you both cuddle

And if you give him a card oh man. He's oddly silent at first which worries you, but he quickly tries to hide the grin he has and hides his head, looking away as he wraps an arm around you

He keeps it hidden in the storage room behind his green room along with the items he's collected from you, safe and secure to make sure it never gets damaged

oh yeah he's definitely going all out next year

you both will most likely spend your day in the daycare since they aren't exactly allowed to leave

you both will be making valentine's day themed crafts but also take TONS of pictures for their scrap book (and you can even make your own scrapbook too to take home)

will venture out to the theatre however to put on a few funny shows and even listen to the staff bot, just for sun to complain about how this isn't COMEDY

sun will eventually just take over and make their own show just for YOU and it'll be the funniest shit

will give you the biggest plush they could find of themselves, to then realize there's no valentine's day special edition with the big sizes, so they grab you a second smaller one instead to go along with the big one

Upon first hearing of it from Mahiru, unsurprisingly, Haruka had no idea what pocky was. He tilted his head towards the girl, mumbling out a ‘hm?’ as she rambled on about how romantic it was. It was no surprise that even in prison Mahiru would care about such things, since on valentines she had somehow roped everyone into baking cookies, but it seemed to fly directly over Haruka’s head as he listened.

“...? I- I’m confused.. So you just.. Eat the candy…..?” He asked, gently tapping his chin. “How is that a game..?” You could hear a slight snicker come from a certain red-haired boy in the other corner of the room, followed swiftly by an elbow to his stomach coming from Yuno.

Mahiru giggled. “It’s like a challenge- two people eat it at the same time.” She pulled a piece of the candy out of the box she had been fiddling with this whole time as she spoke, twirling it between her fingers before holding it out as example. “Whoever breaks off first loses. Cute, is it not?”

Haruka glanced up at the Pocky in her hand, confusion still evident in his eyes. “But.. what if nobody breaks off…?”

Mahiru grinned, and from the corner of your eye you could see Shidou shaking his head slightly as she smiled at the poor boy. “Then they kiss~!” Mahiru’s cheery voice spoke, despite the way Haruka flushed red, turning to hide his face in his hands, face practically steaming.

“O- Oh…” He mumbled, voice muffled by the way he covered it with his hands. He tried desperately to look away, his ears and neck now turning pink in addition to his entire face. Mahiru smiled at him, patting his head when he tried to curl up into a ball and chuckling at his attitude towards the topic.

“Now, since Es didn’t tell us when it was Pocky day a little bit ago-” Es scoffed from the corner, rolling his eyes at Mahiru’s accusing tone. “We’re celebrating late. But celebrating is still celebrating~!”

Fuuta rolled his eyes from the corner where he sat. “And how exactly are we planning on celebrating?”

“Well- Not everyone can really participate, since Amane is a bit too young… But you should all pair up and play at least once, right? We rarely get to do fun things like that here, and it’ll be so exciting-!”

“No way I’m playing this bullshit game.” The boy huffed, standing up without a moment to waste and turning to leave, but let out a yelp when someone grabbed his pantleg, and Mikoto dragged him right back onto the floor, and next to him.

“Sounds good, Mappi-chan!” He hummed, completely ignoring the continued protests from Fuuta who was now being forcefully held against the brown-haired individual.

Mahiru let out another one of her signature giggles before turning to you, flashing you a grin. “You should pair up with Haruka here!” She patted the boy’s head, ruffling his hair slightly as he glanced desperately upwards at you from where his head sat, currently in his arms as he huddled around his knees.

“U- Um- I’m not--”

Mahiru grinned at the both of you, giving you a slight push towards the boy before placing a box of strawberry Pocky in your hands. “Have fun!!” She bounced off in another direction, probably to tease Fuuta and Mikoto a bit, before you glanced back at Haruka, to which he let out a little squeak.

You sighed, incing a bit closer to him so that you could pat his head, to which he immediately leaned into your touch. “Sorry about her… We don’t have to--”

Haruka’s voice was impossibly quiet and timid, but he spoke so quickly you could barely finish your sentence. “....B- But-... I want to.”

You paused. “You do!?”

He nodded his head shakily, partially obstructed face glowing with a rosy blush as he let out an embarrassed breath , cheeks burning with shame. “S- Sorry- I just-” He trailed off, letting out a sound somewhere between a squeak and the sort of whine you would bear from a kicked puppy as he buried his face further into his crossed arms.

“.....Don’t be sorry, I just- Didn’t expect that. Like. At all. But- It’s fine if you want to, I guess-...?”

Haruka snapped his head upwards, hair disheveled from trying hopelessly hide himself from Mahiru as he looked at you with wide eyes. “R- Really?”

BOKUTO had been having a bad day. his morning coffee was taken by someone else and he couldn't wait for another because he was already late, he didn't get any spikes in at practice with the team, and he had forgotten his lunch because you were at work. but when he left the gyms and saw you leaning against your car wrapped in the jacket he left in the back seat, he just couldn't help but think about how he'd love to see this every day for the rest of his life.

you and OSAMU had been living together for a while and you both loved each other, but marriage hadn't crossed either of your minds at the time. but one night, when osamu came home from a long night of trying to decorate onigiri miya and he saw you scraping a charred attempt of dinner into the trash can whilst calling for takeout at almost midnight, he realised just how badly he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you.

SUNA wasn't always one to show his affections or voice how much he cared, but when you turned up to his practice at close to five in the morning with a flask of freshly made coffee and a paper bag with food for his breakfast (and a box of pocky to snack on), he just couldn't seem to hide the way he smiled.

you had walked into the room when ATSUMU was on a zoom call with his team and you never knew. he turned in his chair and smiled at you, greeting you good morning. you looked back at him with your eyes narrowed and told him it was too early for him to be happy, and he couldn't stop himself from thinking how cute your pouty face was.

when you had asked SEMI if you could help him get ready for his show and he said yes, it wasn't the response you were expecting from him. and, even though he wasn't fully impressed that you had tapped out the cigarette he had lit only seconds ago, he pushed all cares aside when he saw the concentrated look you held when applying his eyeliner.

IWAIZUMI knew he had what some would call a resting bitch face and he would be lying if he said he wasn't a little bit worried that you would leave for someone who appeared less...intimidating. but when you took his face in his hands, pressed a soft kiss to the tip of his nose, and called him "pretty", he swooned the hardest he ever would again.

you had been watching USHIJIMA'S practice match for a while now, and he was starting to get the feeling you were bored. you can go home if you like, y/n, this probably isn't too interesting he had told you during time out, unsure of how else to phrase it. he couldn't deny the flutter his heart received upon your response of are you kidding? and miss seeing you destroy these guys? with a genuinely confused look.

AKAASHI was having one of the worst days ever at his work; it has started with a one-on-one screaming match with his horrible boss and now, nearing eight o'clock, it was ending with him having to stay late to be one of the last in the office. and when you turned up with a basket by your side filled with home cooked food for dinner and a small smile on your face, everything seemed to fall into place.

HINATA would always wake up at five o'clock each morning so he could go for a run, and it didn't change when you both moved in together. you had gotten used to waking up alone, even though you hated the feeling. so when hinata saw you waiting by the door one morning, tying the laces of your shoes, he turned into the heart eyes emoji.

TSUKISHIMA had a tendency of being a little bit… distant in your relationship, and he was concerned that it was something that may put you off — even after you had both moved in together. but when he was on his way home from work and received a text message from you, thinking it would be you asking when he would be back or something along those lines. but when he saw the message from you and it ended up being a picture of some animal he had never heard of with the caption ‘send this to the ugly one in the relationship’, after he followed up the message by sending the same meme back to you he realised he was worried about nothing.

It takes a bit for Lee Jihye to get them. In her defense, she's tired and math has fried her brain even more.

“Hey,” Na Bori nudges Lee Jihye’s shoulder with her own, “Do you know what day it is?”

Lee Jihye lifts her head and squints at her, trying to get her brain to work. She’s running on three and a half hours of sleep and has been staring at her math textbook for the past ten minutes without understanding a single thing in it. She’s barely functioning, leaning most of her weight against Na Bori as they fail to study. 

“Huh?”

“Do you know what day it is?” Na Bori repeats. She’s not looking at Lee Jihye. Not teasing her either, which she never fails to do when Lee Jihye gets like this; all distracted, confused, and sleepy. 

It makes Lee Jihye pull her focus together, trying to figure out if something’s wrong. Is it a birthday? No, she would have been planning Na Bori’s present at least a month beforehand. A holiday? Also no. Then… something to do with school? Is there something happening at school she needs to prepare for when the lunch period is over?

“Uh…” Lee Jihye starts, trying to think past the fog of exhaustion in her mind, “Tuesday? Wednesday? What day is it?”

Na Bori huffs a small laugh, dropping her head back with a small smile. “It’s a Friday, first off, and secondly, it’s… November. Eleventh.”

“Oh. Wait, it’s Friday already? Sweet!”

“Jihye-yah. I can’t believe you forgot. You literally told me how happy you are that it’s Friday this morning.”

“I’m tired! You get even worse when you’re sleep deprived!”

Na Bori rolls her eyes, and Lee Jihye wakes up enough to gently shove her away. It only ends with Na Bori rocking back to crash into Lee Jihye and sending them both toppling to the side, caught by the arm of the couch.

“Anyways,” Na Bori says, “It’s November eleventh.”

“Okay?”

She stares. Lee Jihye stares back, waiting for her to continue. 

There’s nothing special about the date. Other than the fact that it’s a Friday, but those come every week so it’s not a big deal. She really has no idea what Na Bori is trying to get at.

She’s tired and done with school and math is her eternal enemy and she’s warm, between Na Bori’s body heat and the blanket tossed over their legs. Lee Jihye is not thinking. She won’t do it, not in these conditions.

Na Bori sighs, then pulls away.

Immediately Lee Jihye grabs Na Bori’s sleeve, stopping her before she can do more than move to the edge of the couch, and pouts at her. “Bori-yah,” she says, “What is it? Come on, tell me, don’t just leave me guessing.”

“It’s November eleventh,” she repeats, and continues to not elaborate.

“Is it a special day or something? What am I missing?”

Na Bori gives her a long look, and Lee Jihye can’t make out what her expression means. She feels off balance, like she’s just missed a step and is falling through open air. 

These moments have been happening more lately. Lee Jihye just doesn’t know why. Nothing’s changed. She’s the same as she always is, and Na Bori is too. At least, Na Bori is the same to her. There’s always a chance that there’s something happening in her life that she’s keeping from Lee Jihye, always determined to deal with it on her own before Lee Jihye catches on and bulldozes her way into helping.

Before she can push and ask what’s wrong, Na Bori smiles and her hesitant and guarded expression disappear as if they were never there in the first place. 

“I’m going to grab a snack,” she says, pulling out of Lee Jihye’s grasp. “Want anything?”

“An energy drink?”

“No. Those are terrible for you.”

“We regularly stuff ourselves full of junk food, I don’t see how an energy drink can make things any worse.”

“The last time you got anything with that much caffeine, you rearranged your entire room and started making origami frogs to give to everyone in school,” Na Bori says, which. Yeah. That’s true. It was a few hours of energy and excitement and then she crashed so hard she felt like a zombie the next day.

“Just get me whatever,” Lee Jihye amends, “I need something sweet to keep me going.”

For a moment, it looks like Na Bori is going to say something more. She lingers, and Lee Jihye looks up at her, blinking rapidly to keep her eyes from closing completely and sending her into an unplanned nap. Then Na Bori shakes her head fondly and walks away, leaving Lee Jihye alone in the living room with only her textbook to keep her company.

Outside, the harsh November winds rattle the window, and Lee Jihye pulls up the blanket, glad she’s inside. Na Bori’s apartment is nice, all warm colors and welcoming, little knick knacks and decorations everywhere. Her parents are busy, usually at work save for a few hours at night when they can sleep and sometimes in the mornings, but they’re kind and always happy to host Lee Jihye.

It’s much nicer than her own sterile, lonely home. She speaks more to her grandparents than her actual parents, even though her grandparents live in a small farming town and only know how to use a landline despite her many attempts to get them used to cell phones. 

Her own parents…

Lee Jihye never likes thinking about them. They feel the same way. She just isn’t the daughter they wanted. 

But Na Bori’s parents make her feel wanted. This apartment is more her home than anything else; anywhere with Na Bori is where she belongs, really. 

She’s really, really glad Na Bori is her friend. She’d have been so lonely otherwise, and just the thought of living a life without her have tears welling up in her eyes.

“Here,” Na Bori says, jumping over the couch to rejoin her. She’s got an armful of snacks, ready to be spread out on the table and shared. “I wasn’t sure what to get, so I got everything. Here—wait. What’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

Lee Jihye closes her eyes, forcing back the burn of tears. “I’m not crying.”

“You’re about to cry. I was only gone for two minutes. What’s wrong, crybaby?”

“Nothing. I’m just glad you’re here.”

Gentle fingers brush her bangs back, and when Lee Jihye opens her eyes, Na Bori is there, sliding her hand down her jaw before dropping it back into her lap.

“I’m here,” she says. “Here, eat something sweet. That’ll cheer you up.”

Lee Jihye extracts herself from the soft cushions of the couch long enough to look through the bounty of snacks Na Bori brought. She grabs a small box of strawberry chocolate bites and settles back to get comfortable again. Beside her, Na Bori grabs a larger box and opens it, pulling out a silver bag. 

As soon as it’s opened, Lee Jihye holds out a hand. She gives Na Bori her best puppy dog eyes, silently asking for some. 

Na Bori glares at her, then rolls her eyes with a smile. “You’re lucky you’re so cute, or I wouldn’t be sharing at all,” she says, dropping a stick of pocky into her hand.

Lee Jihye grins, ignoring the butterflies in her stomach from the comment. It’s just a joke, nothing to be taken seriously, so Lee Jihye ignores her feelings and buries them away. She has plenty of practice at doing it; there are a lot of feelings she’s been hiding when around Na Bori, and she’s almost always with Na Bori.

“You’re the best,” she says, biting into the chocolate side of the stick. She shakes some of her strawberry chocolate drops out into her hand, then passes them along to Na Bori. 

She dumps her math textbook onto the floor, finally giving up on it. She hasn’t been able to focus on it at all without dozing off, and she hates studying anyways. Why bother doing the impossible? She has snacks to be eating with Na Bori!

It’s only when she finishes her first stick of pocky that her brain finally connects the dots.

“Today’s pocky day!” Lee Jihye all but shouts. 

“Finally,” Na Bori says, “You’re the one who brought it up last week. I thought you’d remember.”

“You know I don’t remember things. Ever. I’m too busy daydreaming.”

“About what?”

You, she doesn’t say. “This and that, you know how it is.”

“Tell me,” Na Bori says, knocking her shoulder into Lee Jihye’s. 

“Oh, I don’t know. The most recent one is just imagining what’s going to happen next in that drama I was telling you about.”

“Boring. I thought you’d say something like rescuing princesses in your daydream cinematic universe.”

“That sounds boring. That story’s been done a thousand times before! What would you be daydreaming about, then?”

Na Bori bites into a pocky stick, the snap purposefully loud. Her gaze feels heavier suddenly, like she’s pinning Lee Jihye in a spotlight. “Spending time with you. Graduating with you. Being brave.”

Lee Jihye doesn’t know why her breath catches in her throat, but it does. There’s something in the air, something electrifying. She’s standing on the edge of something, ready to jump if only she knew what was waiting at the bottom. 

Being brave.

She is not brave. She’s a crybaby, but she’s also the one to get rid of any bugs that manage to get near Na Bori. She’s not brave or smart or special, but Na Bori sees something in her that convinces her to stay. 

She is not brave, but she thinks she’s willing to try for this.

“You kept bringing up the date,” Lee Jihye says, lowly, as she tries to get her thoughts together. She gathers her courage, ready for the free fall. “You brought pocky. You want to play.”

Na Bori licks her lips and Lee Jihye’s eyes follow the movement, dropping to her mouth and staying there. Blindly, she reaches out and pulls out a pocky stick from the bag and holds the tip between her lips. She forces her eyes up to see the rest of Na Bori’s face just in time to see her lean forward.

She bites the other end of the pocky stick, her own half-eaten one held loosely in her hand. 

The world’s stopped moving outside of them. The world has narrowed down to them, sitting next to each other on the couch, barely breathing as they slowly close the distance between them.

Lee Jihye can’t hear past her heartbeat in her ears with each centimeter that disappears between them. She tilts her head to the side can’t stop from finally closing the distance, pressing her lips to Na Bori’s just briefly before pulling back. 

She feels dizzy, the world disappear from beneath her as she thinks I just kissed Na Bori.

The chocolate of the pocky is sweet on her tongue. She swallows it down mechanically, still staring at Na Bori’s lips. She can’t look away. She’s frozen in place, waiting for something to happen, waiting for something to give so the world can start turning again.

And Na Bori cups Lee Jihye’s face and kisses her again. 

There’s nothing brief of chaste about this one; it’s messy and biting and sweet, years of hidden desires coming out all at once as they gasp and chase after more. 

Lee Jihye’s hands end up on Na Bori’s waist. She can’t remember putting them there, but she can’t focus beyond the soft warmth of her skin, the movement of her lips, the small noises she makes. 

It’s everything she’s ever wanted. It’s every dream she’s had that she’s tucked away in her chest, just out of sight but always there. It’s the feeling of flying, making the jump, and landing in Na Bori’s arms. 

She’s wide awake now. The world is clear and the fog of exhaustion has disappeared beneath the giddy rush of feeling that accompanies every kiss.

“Bori-yah,” she breathes against her lips, and she can feel Na Bori smile.

“Jihye-yah,” Na Bori returns, pulling away, and pressing a finger against Lee Jihye’s lips when she moves to follow and kiss her again. “Jihye-yah. Wanna play again?”

There’s still a nearly full bag of pocky laying forgotten on the couch. They don’t have all that much time before their lunch period is over and they have to return to class, but this would hardly be the first time they’ve skipped. 

She grins and pushes the pocky box away. “I think I know a better way to play.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.” And Lee Jihye tugs Na Bori’s hand down and kisses her again and again and again.

It’s the last thing either of them say for quite some time.

The Brothers Dropping Hints to a Remarkably Oblivious MC

I liked this idea and wanted to flesh it out a bit before I bury my head in research for requests. Maybe I'll make a part two later? Who knows.

Lucifer

If it weren't for this silly challenge, he'd have considered hiring a sky-writer because he couldn't think of anything more obvious and unavoidable than that…

It honestly astounded him how utterly unaffected the MC seems to be by all of his flirtations. It'd be impressive if it weren't so frustrating.

He could praise their appearance and they'd seemingly forget the compliment.

He could offer them all manner of gifts or meals and they'd think he was just being nice.

He could probably straight up give them a diamond ring and they'd assume it was a late birthday present… 

He was so out of ideas he was considering just ripping off the bandage and asking them directly, brothers be damned, but then that'd be admitting defeat and that’s just not on the table for him.

No, no… He just had to be more patient… Maybe offer them a dance next time? He'll win this challenge yet... maybe…

Mammon

Of course the Great Mammon can get his human to notice his feelings! He's their first man, he knows them more than anybody else! This will be a piece of cake. Right?... right…??

It is not. It is not a piece of cake.

First off, Mammon's already shot himself in the foot because of his tsundere-ness. Turns out when he says, "It's not because I like you!" they actually believe him… 😰

Secondly, he's terrible at expressing his affection in ways that aren't material or possessive...

When he buys them things, they think he's acting sweet and just… pay him back or buy him something in return…

Like, he's not complaining (much) but that's not the point!!

Then when he tries to spend extra time with them they assume it's Mammon being Mammon and not, like, because he's trying to show them how crazy he is about them.

And now he can’t even be honest about his feelings if he wants to because of the damn challenge!! 😫

This seemed like a lost cause for him really… Looks like someone else is going to have to win…

Leviathan

He's been cursing their name to here and back for stealing his heart so thoroughly while still having no idea that they actually had it!!! He'd almost swear they were mocking him but eventually, he genuinely started to think they were just that clueless… 🤦‍♀️

At first he thought that he found a loophole because he could just act out a bunch of obvious anime tropes to not-so-subtly hint at his affections!

...but each time he tried to make a move, he lost his nerve and chickened out at the last minute…

"MC! I just bought some pocky off of Akuzon, do you want to try some?"

"Sure, Levi! 🙂"

"Oh u-uh… Great! H-here you go.. " *hands them the whole box...*

When these efforts failed, he went to plan B, which was again not-so-subtly throwing hints at how special they were to him.

"Hey MC, do you remember that game you were looking at? I got it for us! Come on, let's play together! I'll even let you use my favorite controller!"

"MC, why don't you sit over here? W-wait not that close…! No wait, don’t go!! Urgh!! 😫"

At first he thought it was working until he overheard them talking to Mammon, "Mm? Oh, of course Levi's been so nice to me! We're best friends!"

… Ouch, but not unwarranted. He'd have to try something else or just admit defeat…

Satan

He still truly can't get a good read on them. Are they interested? Just nice? A chronic sufferer of selective blindness?? What does he have to do here???

Satan took a page out of Levi's playbook at first, but replaced anime tropes with what you find in old romance novels.

He was on his best behavior whenever MC was around. Downright gentlemanly, right down to kissing their hand and putting his jacket over puddles for them to walk.

… Unfortunately, Lucifer refused to be outshined by his little brother in the princely courtship department and the two started butting heads (almost literally).

If Satan gave up his jacket for a puddle, then Lucifer would take their hand to "help" them across it. If Satan held a door for them, then Lucifer would hold it too and insist that he go in first. If the MC was cold they suddenly were covered by two coats… It was infuriating!

And you know what's even worse? It was counterproductive.

After a while the MC just thought that it was some kind of game or challenge between him and Lucifer and not him trying to express his actual affections…

Looks like he wasn't going to be winning this either…

Asmodeus 

On one hand, he kind of gets it because he's lovey and feely with everybody but, sweetheart, please take a hint every once in a while…

Asmo comes into the game with both an advantage and disadvantage. He's far more versed in the art of wooing than any of his brothers, but he was so close with them to begin with it's going to take a lot to get the point across…

Confident boi starts inviting them out more, lunch "dates," spa days, shopping sprees, any excuse to be alone with them really hoping they'd get the idea…

...but they didn't. It was just some fun time with Asmo and not any particular special treatment…

His compliments all seemed to bounce off of them too. They never seemed particularly touched and he wouldn't be surprised if they forgot about them within five minutes of hearing them…

Kicking it up to drastic measures, he tries to initiate even more cuddles and hugs than usual… But it feels like he could literally sew himself to their clothes and they'd think he's just being friendly! How do they not see what's going on here, are they just messing with him??

After a week of trying to monopolize the MC's time he had to throw in the towel, certain if he couldn't get through to them then no one could! 😣

Beelzebub 

Well, Beel's a little oblivious himself sometimes so it's not like he couldn't relate… He just wished he could be upfront and ask them because they really didn't seem to notice.

Chances are he was already cuddling with them, sharing his food, taking them places, and doing all the stuff he'd usually do when he likes a person... They probably just considered that to be his normal behavior by that point…

So. He just does what he normally does, but MORE.

Suddenly he's giving the MC half of his meals instead of a third. (Which is what? Enough for a family of four?)

His hugs have gone from just firm to full on bear-snuggles.

He's always offering to take them to a new restaurant or some other place he likes and showing them the best things on the menu (written or hidden).

But it's not exactly going anywhere… 😥

They seemed happy and liked spending time with him but if they were actually noticing feelings for them at all, he couldn't tell…

After a while he kind of gives up on getting them to notice and just starts to enjoy making them happy. Sure, he won't win the challenge, but for now a smiling MC is enough for him 😊

Belphegor 

Look. He may be the King of Mixed Signals, but he's considering just giving up his crown but nothing he's tried has been working...

Similar to Mammon, he’s starting at a disadvantage by regularly being more than a little cryptic about his feelings…

To be honest, it was sort of a reflex for him by this point which didn’t help matters at all. He’s not that used to being completely open with his emotions so he has to fight the urge to downplay things all the time...

Oh, the MC agreed to go with him to the botanical gardens? Cool.

Wait, no, not just cool. It’s great! Really great!! He’s really happy about it, MC, can you see his smile?? He’s smiling! That’s rare! Please notice!!

(They don’t seem to notice…)

Eventually he got even more frustrated than Satan or Mammon and nearly just asked them point blank, but he knew his brothers would flip if he tried…

By the end of the challenge he thought it was a dumb, stupid waste of time and energy and he regrets ever agreeing to it (and he’s not just being pissy because he couldn’t pull it off or anything......)

Bonus: 

After a couple weeks of zero progress for everybody, the brothers seemed to snap. The MC woke up one morning for breakfast only to find their seven demons waiting intently for them to walk into the dining room. What followed was a cartoon squabble of kicked up dust, flying limbs, and thrown objects as each desperately tried to climb over the other in order to get to their human first (even Lucifer nearly flung Satan across the table by the foot at one point). Poor MC was so confused that they had to shout at them just to break up the fighting…

When asked what's gotten into their demons so suddenly, the brothers have only one response:

"WE LOVE YOU!!!" 

…. Eh?

SUMMARY: it’s strange to find out that two of the quietest people on earth can bring out the loud in each other.

NOTE: I reference the game “doodle jump” and say that it’s ancient because it came out in 2009, so it’s like 12 years old as of 2021, but haikyuu takes place in 2012 for the most part so it doesn’t totally make sense, but bear with me.  

You found that people exhausted you.  Loud, buoyant people tired you out because they were always talking and always doing something.  They never seemed to be able to settle down with a book or a game.  And, the unfortunate fact was, nearly everyone in Class 3 had that exact, tiring personality.  So, you were one who faded into the background during school hours.  A ghost of your own kind and you were perfectly happy with watching your classmates’ antics without being part of them.  Sure, you had a few friends in other classes, but they were often busy with their obligations during breaks.  So, normally during lunch, you dined with your own thoughts and a good book. 

Today, however, was a break in your usual lunch routine.  With summer break fast approaching, the classroom was always quite stuffy and your classmates always opted to eat outside in the courtyard. But when the largest crowd had filed out the door, you found that you were not alone per usual.  

You didn’t move from your seat at the end of the second-to-last row but you looked curiously at the boy who sat slightly in front of you.  His two-toned hair fell over his eyes and you wondered how he could see.  Kenma Kozume, the one person in your class that didn’t make you want to take a nap once you finished talking with them.  

Kozume was too engrossed in the game he held on his lap, fingers tapping away at his phone, to pay attention to the bento that was open in front of him.  You only knew Kozume from morning roll call and the few times you two got shoved in a group project together.  

Normally, you had the entire classroom all to yourself during lunch breaks and Kozume’s third year friend, Kuroo, would barge in and steal him for the period.  But today, he hadn’t moved from his seat and he didn’t seem particularly hindered by his missing friend.

Just after you arrived at school, you had realised that you had forgotten your lunch on the kitchen counter so instead you took out the box of pocky your friend had given to you at the beginning of the week.  It had been sitting in your bag for four days.  Was that weird?  No, no it’s not.  

You sat with your legs crossed and propped on your desk, slightly struggling to balance your book and pocky.  When you looked over at your lunch companion, his bento was still untouched and you assumed it would remain that way until someone dragged his game away from him.  

You sighed to yourself.  Maybe it was time to make an acquaintance in your class.  Before you could change your mind, you put the bookmark in your book and got out of your chair.  You peered over Kozume’s shoulder.  

“Doodle Jump, seriously?  That game’s ancient you know.”  He jumped slightly, he must not have heard you approach.  His head turned to look at you, causing his avatar to miss the jump and fall to its doom.  “Ah, sorry.” 

“Oh, it’s fine,” he said softly, his hair falling back over his face.  

“Kozume, right?”  You said and covered your mouth with the back of your hand as you munched on a stick of pocky.  

“Uh, yeah.  People call me Kenma.” 

“Ok, Kenma.  Pocky?”  You asked and offered him the box.  

“Sure.  Thanks,” he gently eased a stick from the container.  “And by the way, Doodle Jump is not ancient.” 

“It totally is, it came out in what?  2009?” 

He shrugged.  “Whatever year it came out in, it’s a masterpiece of a game.” 

You were still engaged in your Doodle Jump argument when a tall, beetle-haired third year burst through the doorway.  Or at least, you thought he did.  “Kenma!  Sorry I’m late I got caught u--” but when you looked up no one was there.  

“You heard that right?”  You asked Kenma with raised eyebrows.  

“Yeah.” 

You shrugged and resumed your conversation, swinging a stick of pocky through the air for emphasis.  

In the hallway, Kuroo pulled Yamamoto to the ground with him so they wouldn’t be seen through the window.  “I’ve never seen Kenma so out-going, even with that carrot top from Karasuno,” Kuroo said, wiping a fake tear from his eye.  

“Right?  It kind of freaks me out.  Who’s the girl anyways?” 

“Dunno, but she brings out the best in our dear pudding-head,” he sniffed. 

The next day during lunch Kuroo just purposefully failed to show.  Instead, he spent lunch with the rest of the team, recounting the momentous occasion he had witnessed the day before.  Kenma didn’t mind, however, in fact he barely seemed to notice.  

He happily spent his lunch break with you, yapping away about video games and the most recent movie releases.  And you were pleasantly surprised with the new addition into your day.  This time, you had remembered to bring your own lunch too, but it was forgotten when Kenma offered a pocky stick of your own.  

“You shouldn’t just have pocky for lunch.”

“I shouldn’t, but I am.”

For two weeks straight Kuroo “forgot” about Kenma until eventually, you were just invited to spend the break with the Nekoma volleyball team.  And even though the team had an average energy level of five million, you were content to spend the time making fun of them with Kenma as they horsed around.  

“Kuroo, give it back,” Kenma whined.  Kuroo had stolen Kenma’s bag for no good reason, searching through his stuff while tactfully holding it from Kenma’s reach.  

“Dude, why do you have so much pocky in there.”
