fuuta, who rambles about stupid shit hes seen online. who is constantly in your ear about something he’d read about and how absurd it was, as if it personally affected him. its silly to listen to. fuuta, who gets flustered by your touch yet can’t get enough. who lays his head within your lap, who clings to you in bed for warmth. fuuta, who looooves when you touch his hair. who wouldn’t admit it, but the feeling of your fingers running through his hair makes him feel fuzzy inside. the same goes for when you wash his hair in the shower, it makes him feel crazy weird inside.

haruka, who is sooo jumpy. its so silly to sneak up behind him, sliding your hands around his waist and giving him a little squeeze. he’ll jump, before melting into your embrace. haruka, who is addicted to your affection. who believes he doesn’t deserve it, yet comes back for more and more. because he feels safe with you, comfortable with your touch. haruka, who tries to do little things for you to make you happy. most of the time he fails, sometimes he succeeds. though it makes you happy regardless, knowing he was making attempts to please you.

mahiru, who sends you pictures of everythingggg she does. who sends you photos of her meals, photos of her cute little outfits or purchases she’d made while out. mahiru, who constantly checks up on you. asking whether or not you’d eaten yet, if you slept enough last night, everything. she never runs out of things to talk about!! mahiru, who is all over you. constantly laying kisses against your skin, holding hands with you, laying with you. she loves being close to you, even if its in silence.

muu, who hides behind you as if you were her guardian angel. who mumbles for protection when people look at her weird, or speak to her in a slightly mean tone. muu, who is like a cat. who stands by you, waiting for your attention and to be spoiled with your care. if you don’t catch on, she’ll straight up ask you. ‘n she’s quite blunt with her words. muu, who loves to take you shopping. who enjoys making you be her personal bag carrier, who enjoys showing off expensive things shes purchased that she thinks are cute.

♪ note: HI HI ELI so sorry this request has been gathering dust in my inbox for more than a month.. i really wanted to write this but life be life-ing.. i really enjoyed writing this and i hope you enjoy reading this too! (also so sorry if i sound weird but i'm assuming you meant comforting them after t1? ^^'')

♪ summary: es may have done some.. pretty strange decisions and now not only the guard and the guilty prisoners, but everyone has to deal with it, including you. you can't help but feel bad for the guilty ones, and hopefully, you can offer them at least some kind of support.

♪ warnings: description of fuuta and mahiru being in pain because of their injuries, the reader character doesn't know about mikoto and john being a system, but still treats them as respectfully as possible, mentions of cults and religious trauma in amane's section. fuuta, mahiru and mikoto parts can be seen as both romantic and platonic, meanwhile amane's part is strictly platonic.

fuuta kajiyama.

♪ fuuta was.. in terrible condition, to say the least. his personality was so different from the fuuta you knew, too. sure, you've met him not so long ago, but seeing him act like this felt.. weird. you actually kinda missed the old fuuta, yes, he was kinda rude, loud and said things without thinking, but you'd prefer that than seeing fuuta in pain and not being able to say a word. you wish you could help him somehow, but.. what could you do? you doubt that convincing es to forgive him is possible..

♪ you tried to support him at least in an emotional way, even though you knew that might not work. it's highly possible he won't be able to see with his right eye ever again, of course, that's extremely traumatizing. he also got beat up by kotoko out of all prisoners, who actually seemed to be similar to him in a way. but you told him that if fuuta wanted to talk to you about anything, like complain about something or vent, he could always do that. fuuta found your kindness weird and even suspicious at first, but.. fine, he could use a friend in a situation like this. or at least a person who could hear him out.

♪ fuuta finds himself coming to you more often than he thought he would. it's not like he has that many people to talk to here anyway. he's grateful to kazui (even though he doesn't want to admit it), but.. he's not sure if there is anything he can talk to him about. haruka and muu are really close now, it honestly feels like haruka has forgotten about everyone else. oh, but surprisingly, fuuta's been getting along with amane lately- what do you mean, you "have a bad feeling about this", y/n?.. 

♪ you will never actually hear this from him, but you can feel that fuuta is glad to have someone like you here. he looks calmer with you around and if he can't open up to anyone else about something, at least he can open up to you. it's easier for him to fall asleep when you're next to him, so you may find him suddenly doing so with his head on your shoulder or your lap. just, uh.. be prepared for him to be really flustered when he wakes up and sees you.

mahiru shiina.

♪ she's honestly surprised that you want to spend time with her and help her feel better despite her being voted guilty. she immediately starts joking (or maybe half-joking?..) about falling in love with you because of your kindness and you just roll your eyes and ask if she's okay and if she's in any pain. you remind her to take her medications, you ask shidou for help if her condition gets worse and you help her move around with her wheelchair, so that she doesn't feel isolated from the rest of the prisoners. being in milgram is already isolating enough.

♪ you try to help her feel better by doing things that are small and simple to you, but very meaningful to her. you brush her hair, you paint her nails (even if you can only do so on one hand for now..), you tell her that she still looks beautiful, and every time you do that, it makes her smile. it's still different from that usual smile of hers, but it's a smile that shows even though she's still suffering, she appreciates you being around. 

♪ mahiru doesn't understand why you're still helping her. is this because you love her?.. ah, please forgive her, that's just her being her usual silly self. but still.. she wasn't forgiven, right? that means she was in the wrong.. but she doesn't understand what made es vote her guilty. all she did was love her boyfriend a lot, right? does that mean that her love itself is a sin?.. is she not allowed to love at all?.. you gently interrupt mahiru and say that you don't know why es refused to forgive her, but you personally don't think mahiru's love is a sin at all. in fact, it's a blessing.

♪ mahiru feels like the sun itself personified to you and you hope that she gets better soon, but you're also grateful for the opportunity to take care of her like this. she always gives so much love to everyone, you wonder how much she gets back. you softly pat her head while making sure it's not painful considering her injury and ask what she wants to do today, but it takes a while for mahiru to answer because of your words still ringing in her head, but in a good way.

amane momose.

♪ .. so why exactly es decided to vote a child guilty? you know you probably shouldn't say anything about the guard's decisions, but.. this just doesn't make any sense to you. just what did es see in amane's video? or maybe something happened during the interrogation? amane's behavior has changed a lot, but you don't blame her for it. of course she would start acting differently. she's a 12 year old who was voted guilty and almost got beaten up by kotoko, kotoko ending up not doing anything to her was honestly a miracle. of course she would be mad. she should be.

♪ you try to talk to her and she kinda ignores you at first. however, you're not as bad as shidou, so.. fine, maybe she can hang out with you a little bit. it's hard not to feel sorry for her though, because of how messy her hair is and how empty her eyes are. you try to cheer her up somehow, like maybe you can do something really cute with her hair or maybe you can cook something for her (while still respecting her dietary restrictions and not forcing her to eat something she's not allowed to).. amane finds your attempts to become closer with her strange, but.. maybe she could use some company.

♪ every time she mentions her "god" around you though, you try to change the topic. you like amane and you genuinely want this kid to get better, but you're not really feeling like becoming a part of a cult.. amane just sighs and says you'll understand it someday. sometimes you catch her mumbling something about being forgiven this time and es needing to make the correct judgement. you can't really help her much when it happens and you can't do anything other than say that es will definitely forgive her, but amane manages to turn even something simple as that into rambles about her god. you can't help but wonder what amane's life used to be like.

♪ you can't convince amane that her family wasn't as kind as she thinks they were. you can't convince her that the way she was raised was too cruel. you know she won't believe you. and you know you're not a therapist. but at least you can be her friend. at least you can gently guide her, while still giving her a choice, so that she feels more free. more free than she possibly ever was in her life. and even though amane never talks about it, she does appreciate it. she feels strangely warm when you're around. she wonders if it's okay to feel this way and if god would ever forgive her for that. 

mikoto kayano.

♪ you didn't know why mikoto suddenly started to act like this. you tried to get at least some information from others, including es, but nobody gave you a proper answer, even though you had a feeling like kotoko and es know what's going on. for some reason, this mikoto just didn't.. feel like mikoto to you. it's like it was.. different mikoto? no, that doesn't sound right. it felt like it was a completely different person. you couldn't prove it and when you tried to say it out loud, it sounded weird, but.. it felt like a correct answer to you. 

♪ when it felt like it was the mikoto you knew, you always made sure to tell him what's going on, what happened, basically all the information he needed. he always looked so lost and confused, you couldn't help but feel sorry for him. you assumed that it was probably because of the trauma related to being voted guilty. you actually couldn't understand es's decision at all. just why would they vote someone like mikoto guilty? was his video really that bad? it didn't feel like mikoto was pretending to be less smarter than he is. why would he even have to do that? you all are murderers here, there's no reason for him to try and trick anyone.

♪ when it felt like it was someone else, you still tried to treat him with kindness. you couldn't understand why everyone started to avoid this person so suddenly. yes, this person was.. quite different from mikoto, but.. maybe at least they could try to accept him? you actually found it surprising how quickly he calmed down after you showed him that you don't intend to hurt him or mikoto. maybe this was the only thing he needed: someone telling him that he's safe and that he's not in danger. or maybe it was something they both needed.

♪ both mikoto and this person seem to actually like you a lot.. well, it's not like they have much of a choice here, considering that other prisoners don't really want to spend time with them. but it looks like they don't mind it that much. yes, mikoto is definitely still worried about it and he doesn't seem to remember what happens when the other person is here, but the other guy doesn't really care about the other prisoners and the only thing that bothers him is how possibly dangerous they can be. and even though he still has his suspicions.. you don't seem that dangerous to him.

“Is this okay? am I squeezing you too tight?”

Your boyfriend quipped, he was always incredibly worried about his under-used muscles accidentally crushing you to death whenever you snuggled up like this.

you shook your head, assuring him it was fine. you were so grateful for little moments like these, he hardly got any free time to spend with you, and he felt incredibly guilty about it. you knew it wasn't intentional, or his fault, but sometimes, you seriously felt like he was dating his job instead of you.

“Hey, sweetheart? you there? are you listening?”

he gently shook you, clearly worried that you were ignoring him, or that you fell asleep. You smiled and patted his head, a nonverbal indication that he could keep talking.

He took the cue, resuming his rant about how the stars were a lot less clear today and how he wanted to show you something really pretty, you could only giggle at how disappointed he seemed — it was still beautiful.

you were almost tempted to make the 'not as beautiful as you' joke, but maybe now wasn't the time for it.

As quickly as you zoned out the first time, you did again. You noticed him stir slightly, snapping you out of your state yet again.

He rubbed his eyes, after a few seconds, his demeanor shifted entirely. You could tell from the way his hands grew a lot more firm and stable around your figure, and the way his breathing stabilized with them, you weren't really cuddling with Mikoto anymore.

“John?” you called out, like you were making sure it was actually John and not the other one who did the funky thing with his hair who hadn't really told you his name yet. you heaved a sigh of relief when he responded with a barely audible “hmm?”

“Just enjoy this, I'll keep quiet so you can pretend its him or—”

He started, but you shut him up really quick by nuzzling your face into his chest, causing a soft blush to spread across his cheeks. As much as he loved you, he hadn't really gotten used to your affection yet.

He stroked your hair, playing with it gently, almost like he was afraid to hurt you, as you both stared at the winter night sky in comfortable silence.

“The stars are pretty today.”

He murmured softly, you made a small noise in agreement. Your ears picked up the sound of a chuckle escaping his lips.

“Maybe almost as pretty as you...”

Es was always flustered when you did that silly thing of wrapping your arms around them, of kissing their cheek, of gently intertwining your fingers against theirs...

God, their face was heating up just thinking about it. It was so embarrassing. They weren't sure what to do whenever you did those things with them — other than freeze up and blush furiously... — still, even if they didn't know how to react properly, they loved everything you did for them.

Their face felt so hot whenever you just talked to them, that's how smitten Es was with you.

Now, they were about to meet with you. They had brought a few gifts, you know, just to repay your kindness, just to be nice — but what if you didn't like it? ah...

They held a small bouquet of roses against their chest tightly. Held it tight, yet not too hard to accidentally break them. You could be there at any moment at the park where you had asked them to meet.

Other than the flowers, they held a small love letter in their free hand, although the paper was slightly damp from how nervous Es was.

"I don't think they'll like my gifts, it's not—"

Es was quickly cut off by feeling a pair of arms wrap around their torso from behind. You had planted a soft kiss against their cheek as well, and they were trembling from mere nervousness.

"Ah, you... you're here, hello, I'm..." Es stuttered out. They were usually so stoic with others, yet you made them a blushing mess. How absolutely adorable they were.

They turned around and shoved the bouquet and the letter against your chest, looking down on the floor, hoping you wouldn't see their absolutely flustered expression. "This is for you, so... take it, please."

How cute! You weren't expecting such a nice gesture. You held the gifts with your hands, and when you were about to thank them, they interrupted you.

"It's to — repay your kindness and everything you do for me, yeah..." They murmured under their breath.

For a while he would shove or kick you off of him, then walk away to commit atrocities.

After a while you still were so insistent on laying on his lap!

When you manage to lay your head on his lap, he would constantly whisper threats into your ear (he does not mean those threats).

It would take him a while to adjust to the comfort and love you provide to him. After all your effort, it would be… disrespectful to deny you. After all, he thinks you’re pretty cute on his lap.

A/N - Tysm for the req!! and ofc ! we love john in this household. i hope its ok i went with a horror movie theme bc my brain is empty ahshdj,,, i hope you like it tho !! the mikoto/john brainrot is real. john would be such a guard dog in my mind wahskd we love a protective bf &lt;3

Horror movies weren’t exactly your forte- you could withstand them, and you wouldn’t be loosing sleep over some cheesy plotline- but in the moment, you knew full well you were weak to jumpscares. But tonight you were watching a movie with the other prisoners too, which meant you were ready to take every measure necessary in order to not make a fool of yourself in front of the others. 

After at least 20 minutes of wasted time with everyone scrambling about to get settled under layered and fluffy blankets, most everyone seemed comfy and content with their spots, except for Amane, who had adamantly insisted that she would not be partaking in the movie. You yourself were covered in blanket upon blanket, so much so that it was almost hard to see you underneath them, next to Mikoto, who had a bowl of popcorn propped carefully on his legs. His eyes were narrow and harsh, and he was mostly silent, a general sign that it wasn’t exactly Mikoto, but rather… the other Mikoto.

You had discussed the topic of Mikoto’s… other versions with Es multiple times, but as close as they ever came to caving and giving you more information, they simply shook their head and muttered that they couldn’t help you. And you couldn’t blame them- as prison guard, it was no surprise they weren’t able to tell you the details of the situation.

You let out a quiet sigh as a hush fell over the other prisoners, the screen illuminating itself as the movie started up. It stayed mostly quiet throughout the room, save the occasional whine from Fuuta about how unrealistic the special effects were (despite the fact that he had a death grip on his blanket). 

It was a basic horror movie plot, completely predictable, and, yes, the special effects were shitty- what you would expect from a movie night in prison, although you could still feel the way you got uneasy any time it fell too silent. Every now and then, it would go completely silent on screen, the protagonist walking into a trap so obvious it almost bothered you how stupid they were. An obvious setup for a jumpscare.

You knew it was coming, but at the same time, you were absolute shit at preparing yourself for it.

The moment you heard the noise, you jumped noticeably high, letting out a squeak that was thankfully hidden by Fuuta’s much louder yelp. Instinctively, you reached out to grab whatever was closest and most convenient, since usually, at home, this object would be your precious Ikea shark- but, alas, as fate had it, you did not end up wrapping your arms around a Blahaj, but Mikoto’s arm. 

Shame that felt even worse than being jumpscared settled over your entire body, and you felt your face flush red as you prayed desperately that nobody else had noticed. You watched for any sort of reaction from the man beside you, but he didn’t flinch, or even let his gaze waver from the screen. Shakily, you turned your head back to the screen, although you felt it was far too awkward to try and move now. You felt your body slowly calming down, heart rate going back to normal as your racing mind slowed…

Until you felt a slight shift, and in some sort of response to the way you’d jumped onto him, Mikoto wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you up against him. He was subtle about it, making sure not to make any sudden movements in hopes of nobody realizing. Once you were secure against his chest, he placed a hand in your head and you leaned onto his shoulder a bit. Your nerves were going crazy from the sudden intimacy, but you couldn’t deny that it was nicer.

Part of you wanted to ask Mikoto what he did that for, but his mood was much more fickle when he was different like this, and you knew that if you brought attention to the two of you in a position like that, Mahiru would never let you hear the end of it.

You just stayed, sitting against him like that, practically overflowing with warmth, struggling to pay attention to the movie at all any more. You felt another jumpscare building up, but in the back of your mind, you couldn’t really react in time.

But he did.

His grip on you tightened the moment anything popped up on the screen, and as the night progressed, he continued to behave like this, glancing over at you every so often to make sure you weren’t too scared. The way he held you so carefully, you could almost mistake it as him wanting to protect you-

Even with his rough exterior, I'm sure he is the type to love cuddles, bro’s love language is physical touch !

He definitely comes for hugs after he is frustrated after losing at whatever games he is playing.

He sighs as he comes close to you with a frown “I lost again against these losers.”

“Oh no..” You say with an empathetic smile as he comes to lay close to you, putting his arms around your waist and his head in your chest.

He then goes on to rant about his game and how it went, using terms you probably don’t understand, as your arms embrace him gently, fingers playing with his hair to relax him.

As you were about to fall asleep, you hear Fuuta sighing and coming under the blanket. You turn around and meet his face close to yours.

“Hi there..” You say in a sleepy voice. Though he doesn’t respond, he just keeps staring at you, he looks like he wants to say something but is too shy to.

“Mh..? Oh, I see, cuddles?” You say with a smile. He simply nods and comes closer to you, his arms wrapping around your body and head going in your neck. You also put your arms around him, your hand moving up and down his back in a relaxing gesture. His muscles immediately relaxes and he sighs, feeling warm and happy in your embrace.

After a while of talking, his voice gets lower and lower, almost inaudible. You giggle a bit as you hear his sleepy voice. "Goodnight?" You say with a smile.

“Mh, G’night..” he responds as he falls asleep in your embrace almost immediately.

Mikoto just came home from work. It was late, so late that you were already in bed. Mikoto approaches from the bedroom you were sleeping in. He gently knocks, not getting any responses he comes in, approaching from the bed while making sure not to make any noises. As you feel him sitting on the bed, you lazily turn around, your sleepy eyes opening.

“Hello…” you say with a tired voice.

“Sorry love, did I wake you up?” he replies. You shake your head, opening your arms, inviting him to cuddle with you. Without thinking, he immediately leans into your embrace, letting out a long sigh, definitely tired from his day. 

“Oh maybe you wanted to go change..?” You say, but Mikoto just shakes his head.

“I only want cuddles with my love right now” He smiles brightly, tightening his arms around you. You can’t help but blush a bit, his sweetness making your heart skip a beat.

As you both cuddle, he talks about his day, about things that happened, and some projects he has. Even though you tried your best to stay awake and listen to his sweet voice, sleep got the better of you, and you fell asleep. When he realized it, Mikoto simply smiled and kissed your forehead, still laying in your warm embrace and listening to your heartbeat.

As you fumbled your walking you kept on hitting the wall from time to time. Every single prisoner saw you hit the wall and got a little concerned for your state.

Mahiru helped you walk but you insist that you could walk on your own, then nearly fell down to the floor. Your eyebags were definitely visible, it worried mahiru so much that she brought 10 heating packs that she requested from es.

Shidou himself got worried too, he tried to check if you had anything bad but it turned out you were completely fine! If anything you were just a 'little' clumsy.

And finally, Es. Es was the most worried out of all of them. Not that you matter the most out of all of them, but if you keep bumping your head multiple times you might start forgetting about your own murder!

When Es interrogated you in the first trial, you always had your eyelids half open and Es would always snap their fingers to wake you up. You always end up apologizing though, so maybe it's okay.

But they wish that you took your crime a little more serious, considering how laid back you were, Es have always thought that you didn't feel guilty at all.

But maybe they were just over reacting. Sure you always (accidentay) hit your head really hard on the table or trip every once in a while, but you still tried to reassure people that you were okay.

Everyone has gotten used to it and let you do your own thing, but Es was still always worried every time you fell. Kotoko pointed out how Es had 'favourites' then looked at you for a good minute.

Es denied her comment and told her how they take care of each and every prisoner equally with no favourites whatsoever.

Sure they've helped you lead your way while holding your hand so that you were okay once, but that was only because you had a bruise on your left leg. And if you fell again you might even get an even worse bruise than before.

And that time they hugged you when you started shaking during their interrogation with you? That was just so they could calm your mind down and get an easier video to observe.

Es doesn't have 'favourites'. Only people who weren't favourites during their life are the ones who would have 'favourites'. That's absurd, Es would never do such a thing.

♪ i imagine it'd be very easy for haruka to become.. a little bit possessive over someone he likes. it's actually scary just how little you have to do to make him become obsessed with you. seriously, just be nice to him. give him a warm smile every time he looks at you, never forget to say hi to him, praise him for even the simplest and tiniest things, and that's it, the boy won't be able to get you out of his head. he just doesn't understand why you're so kind to him. he also noticed that even though you're nice to others as well, it feels like you kinda give him.. special treatment, maybe? like, your smile is especially wide whenever you see him and you compliment him more often than others.. there's gotta be a reason for it, right?

♪ his obsession with you isn't that noticeable at first. in fact, haruka starts acting in a way that's maybe a little.. cute, even? like, he shyly asks if it's okay for him to sit next to you and when you nod, you can see literal sparkles in his eyes. and when you say how good he is at something, he stares at you for a moment and when you ask him what's wrong, it takes him a bit to respond and he laughs quietly while a drop of sweat runs down his cheek and he says he's just not used to hearing things like that. and when you begin to walk away, he suddenly stops you and asks:

"u-um, y/n!.. d-did you.. you know, uh.. really mean it?" 

and you have no idea that you're only encouraging him to go even more insane while turning back to him, smiling and saying yes.

♪ haruka will try so hard to spend even more time with you from now on. whenever everyone is eating, he always sits right next to you, if you're going somewhere, he's already following you, if you're talking about something, he will eagerly nod and agree with you, no matter what you say. someone like you just can't be wrong. honestly, he doesn't even have to think about anything when he's with you. he can just rely on you, right? he knows he's not the brightest person, but you will take good care of him, right? i mean, it's not like you have a choice.

♪ .. it would take a LONG time for mikoto to realize that he likes you. yes, he had a girlfriend before according to his interrogation. yes, he's still a little slow when it comes to these things. yes. h-he just has so much on his mind, okay? also, you're just really nice and he enjoys your company a lot! there's nothing more to that, really! and no, he doesn't know what you're talking about, his face is definitely not red! maybe he just has a fever or something, he should go back to his cell, he doesn't want you to catch it, haha.. it's really hard to leave for some reason though. why can't he just take his eyes off you already?..

♪ he would try really hard to distract himself from thinking about you. maybe he should just go and talk to someone else!.. but for some reason hanging out with others isn't so fun anymore. he just can't get rid of those annoying thoughts. what do you think of him? do you like him? do you like him as a friend or in a different way? do you like somebody else? you don't, right? you don't, right? you don't you don't you don't-

♪ except his feelings for you are so overwhelming that it doesn't feel like a cute little crush. he can't even simply ask you what you think about him, he starts to shake and stutter and he needs to put on a smile as quickly as he can and assure you that there's nothing wrong with him and he is so sane and so normal. oh, you have to go somewhere? he will go with you! oh, you want to spend some time alone?.. o-okay then. no, no, he's not mad! of course, he respects your privacy and he completely understands if you want to be alone right now! he will just.. stand here, in case you want to talk to him. and when he has to go back to his cell, he still can't fall asleep and he just lies there, staring at the ceiling and wondering what he should do. you have to be his. he feels normal when you're around. he feels at peace. he feels like everything is okay and there's nothing to worry about. .. huh. was there something for him to worry about?.. wait, what was he thinking about again? haha, he should just go to sleep already. you will worry about him if he doesn't get enough sleep- ah. ah, he was thinking about you.

john kayano.

♪ john doesn't really care about his own feelings. his job is to protect mikoto and that's it. he doesn't have time for other things. and why should he, out of all people, be interested in romance?.. well, uh, that's what he thought. honestly, you're so weird. since the second trial started, he's been the one who's fronting and pretty much all prisoners have been avoiding him, even shidou and kazui, but he wasn't mad or anything. actually, it's better for mikoto's safety if everyone just leaves him alone. but you were an exception. you still were patient with him and you still were nice to him no matter what he said. even if he threatened you, even if he showed that he's more than capable of attacking you and he's totally okay with it, you still believed that he wasn't a bad person. eventually he just gave up and let you do whatever you wanted. as long as you're not dangerous for mikoto, you're okay.. probably.

♪ his trust issues are still bad and he analyzes your every move, but also for some reason your presence feels safer than the other prisoners'. you actually greet him every time you see him, you actually talk to him and you just.. see him as a person? he even tried to ask you about it simply out of curiosity and you gave him a confused look and replied with:

"well, it's true, that you can be a little.. you know, scary, but hey, you're not a monster or anything. just a person who needs a little bit more care and love and that's all, haha." 

.. god, you're weird. how can you just say things like that without a second thought?.. you actually remind him of mikoto a lot.

♪ actually, he's not sure if you still see him as mikoto or someone completely different. how much do you know about him and mikoto? how close were you to mikoto? did mikoto like you?.. well, john doesn't find you suspicious and he actually feels sort of calm when you're around, so that's probably a good sign. and it's also a sign to make sure nothing bad ever happens to you. if mikoto really did like you, he would be devastated if you got hurt. and, um.. john probably wouldn't like it either. he actually feels like you're too nice for this place. sure, he knows you're a murderer as well, but he doesn't really have a right to judge you. so don't be surprised if you start to notice or feel john's presence more often or see john getting visibly annoyed if anyone looks at you in a "wrong" way or says something even slightly mean about you, even as a joke.

♪ yes, he's fine with attacking someone if he gets a feeling that they may do something bad to you. even if that person just doesn't like you that much or they have done something that made you sad, even if it was an accident, it's enough for john to see them as a threat. just don't worry too much about it, okay? it's not like it's your fault or anything. and it's not that hard for john to do it. he's.. uh, used to protecting the people he cares about, so it's fine. and you don't have to worry about him "losing" or anything. he won't calm down until that person gets what they deserve. also, if the guard has anything against you, he won't hesitate to take care of them either. it's fine, you can trust him. just remember to thank him for saving you after he's done.

Despite her romantic tendencies, you enjoyed passing free time with Mahiru. She never made you feel uncomfortable, and ever since her injuries from her judgement, you’d been walking with her from time to time. Mahiru liked taking walks, but ever since the judgement came, she hated doing so alone- After Kotoko’s attacks, nobody was the same. Everyone was on edge. Even Es.

Today was no exception to your newfound tradition of accompanying her throughout the prison hallways- you were happy to do so with her, and she seemed much more cheerful when she had someone to go with. In your mind, it wasn’t odd at all if she linked arms with you- she was injured, so it was all perfectly normal for her to need a bit of help walking. And you were never bothered by her absentminded flirting- it was in her nature as a hopeless romantic. 

You knew she harbored no feelings for you, since she spent half her time rambling to you about her wonderful boyfriend. That part did concern you, but you decided it’d be best to leave that up to Es to mention. You were fine with it if she hugged you before going back to her cell, or even if she gave you a goodnight kiss on the cheek- it was all completely platonic. Mahiru was grateful for your friendship and your understanding of that fact, but the one thing you failed to realize was how it might look to others.

And lord knows your incapability to notice how a certain person was taking it would get you in all sorts of shit.

“Goodnight, Mappi!” You said, not hesitating to return the gesture when she stood on her toes to hug you. She smiled as she gave you her typical goodnight wishes, reminding you to drink water as she gave her a kiss on the cheek and then hurried back off to her cell. It really didn’t mean anything to you, as you turned on your heel and started absentmindedly strolling back to your own cell- Until, of course, you heard the familiar sound of your cell door creaking open.

You snapped your head up as you heard shuffling fabric, but the dim lighting in your cell didn’t do much to help your god-awful eyesight in figuring out who the fuck was in your cell this late at night. You were already sitting on the low-quality mattress of your cell, just staring dumbfounded in the general direction of the door as you felt a bit of fear settle into your body.

“H…ello……?”

Your voice was quiet as you spoke, slightly afraid- it was past curfew by now, and if Es found someone in your room, they’d get some sort of penalty. Which sucked, because you were actually really chill with every other prisoner and would much prefer to not have any issues.

Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard a voice that was undoubtedly Mikoto’s, as he inched closer and sat down on your bed. “Sweetheart.” His voice was colder than usual, like we was upset, although you were unsure as to why. “C’mere.”

Although you hesitated for a moment, you inched closer to the end of your bed, close enough to him where you could see his face a bit better. He had an almost confused expression on his face, like he couldn’t quite sort his emotions. He glanced at you, eyes softening once they fell on your face.

“What’s the deal with you and Mappi-chan-….?” He asked slowly, staring at you without ever letting his gaze falter. He sounded confused, and maybe a bit upset, but was careful as not to seem accusing.

“Mappi-..? She’s my friend, just like all the other prisoners here..? You know that….?” You ran through what had happened that day in your head, trying to figure out what he was talking about- absentmindedly lifting a hand to your cheek to where Mahiru had given you an innocent little kiss, which was really a terrible decision. The moment you did so, that was all it took for Mikoto to… change.

He narrowed his eyes at you, which made you feel things you probably shouldn’t have in that moment, but you shoved those thoughts away as fast as you could.

“That’s not what it seemed like.” His voice was noticeably deeper, and sounded gravelly as he spoke, his tone of voice changing dramatically. He reached forward, grabbing your hand to bring it away from where your fingers where still gently tracing the spot Mahiru had kissed you.

Suddenly, everything caught up to you.

You felt your face flush a deep shade of violent red as he stared down at you, some emotion in his eyes you couldn’t quite get a good grip on when he was staring at you so intently like that. He didn’t say anything, just watched you as your breath and heart rate started picking up.

“You… know you’re mine, right..?” He asked, voice low as he spoke. You nodded shakily, not really being able to say anything.

Talking to Mikoto was one thing. But talking to… him? You knew he was different right now, and whenever he was like this, the tension got almost suffocatingly high.

“Then I should be the only one to kiss you.” He huffed, almost sounding pouty.

You breathed out a barely audible “That makes sense.” as your eyes started to wander, now barely able to control the rapid speed at which your heart was beating.

He stared at you as the room fell back into silence for a moment, just… watching you. Watching the way you got fidgety under his gaze, watched the way you took quick breaths, watched the way your eyes darted from place to place through the room, meeting his every now and then before darting away again in your rush of jumbled emotions.

Well, there was no turning back now, right?

After making his decision, he wasted no time in placing his hand firmly on the back of your neck, which sent your eyes straight back to him as he leaned in. His lips were soft, although they pressed against yours with unimagined fervor as he pulled you closer.

You felt your arms wrap around his neck as you gave in to the way he kissed you, almost greedily, one arm settling around your waist to support you. His eyes fluttered shut as he continued needily pressing himself against you, letting out some sort of muffled sound through the kiss. The moment your lips parted, you feel his tongue darting out, and your mind went entirely blank. All you could do in the moment was tighten your grip around him, him doing the same while he pushed you up against the wall. You could barely breathe with him against you like this, but you were still trying to pull him closer as your blush intensified so much it was a wonder it didn’t burn you.

He pulled away for just a moment, only long enough to breathe out the word ‘mine’ before leaning back in. His hand on your neck slowly moved up to your hair, ruffling through it in a way that was almost calming.

You weren’t quite sure how far this would go with the way he was holding onto you, but all your racing thoughts were cut short as you felt a flashlight, bright against your face.

“Hey, it’s past curfe—-“

A long silence, omitting the slight panting that came from the man who was now just hovering over you.

“God fucking damnit.” Annoyance was evident in Es’s voice as he simply glared at you. “You would think that in prison people would be able to control themselves, but noooo. Fucking hate this job.”
