Lord freaking almighty what is going on with some Edelgard fans in this joint, "you only hate us and the game because we speak the truth about our Ed"? Like there aren't completely unrelated reasons to think the game might not be the best writing the series was capable of?
(I was going to add some of them here, except I realized very quickly that the stans would take them as "evidence" that they were correct, everyone else is badly written except Ed, who is perfect and can do no wrong because they have Receipts to prove it and will argue you off the Internet, etc. )
HONESTLY! The way they act like they've reached enlightenment and are simply trying to teach us poor lost fools is fucking hilarious.
"We are just correcting you guys because you are FACTUALLY wrong!" The source? Their ass.
The game's writing isn't good. There are countless of plot holes, and several things just do not get adressed.
#grey borb#edelgard discourse#why didnt TWSITD just nuke everyone when they were at the battle of the eagle and lion?#or at the end of CF? or just about anywhere that isnt garreg mach??#sothis justs gets yeeted out of the plot and can suddenly come back at the end for no reason#the nabatean genocide never really gets the weight it deserves#and why does count bergliez have a major cichol crest in hopes?#hanneman said only seteth has that one!#and that's not even scratching the tip of the iceberg

Don't know if this is unpopular opinion but I think all the House Lords, Manuela, Hanneman, Seteth, Flayn, Cyril, Lysithea, and the Ashen Wolves should have been able to have supports with every playable character, even if they don't result in a full C-B-A support chain or paired endings.
With the House Lords, it makes sense. They're the leaders of the nations of Fodlan. They're the ones who will be running things. It makes sense that they interact more with others given their positions. How would their interactions with students from other houses change how they view the future? Missed opportunity all around.
Hanneman and Manuela are fellow professors. They are in charge of the other houses and teach the other students. We should see how their interactions with said students would play out. They should have been able to build supports.
Seteth, Flayn, and Cyril never leave the monastery. They're the only members of the church that don't get sent out on missions (and Flayn only does so after joining your class). How do they interact with each other? How do they interact with the students we don't see supports for? How do they feel about the Lords they don't have supports with? Seriously, a lot of miss opportunity. (The fact that Dedue and Cyril don't have supports is a crime).
The Ashen Wolves? I'm sorry, but how on earth does Linhardt NOT have supports with Constance von Nuvelle of all people? You're telling me he wouldn't be all over Balthus? No flirting with Yuri in banter discussing Crests and how shitty society is? How is the rest of the student body not interested in them? I want Balthus and Hapi to talk to Petra and Dedue regarding their homelands and being outsiders because of that. How come Ashe and Yuri have NO SUPPORTS in Houses? We were robbed of Constance-Hubert and Yuri-Hubert friendship. I want Balthus, Caspar, and Raphael to be sparring buddies dammit! THEY LITERALLY LIVED RIGHT BELOW THEM HOW DO THEY NOT INCITE MORE CURIOUSITY FROM THE STUDENTS?
And Lysithea? Lysithea deserves to have all the friends. All the friends that will give her cake. All the friends who will study with her. All the friends who will fight for her. Lysithea has so much to offer in terms of character interactions.

༓ʚ Fun To Tease ɞ༓
Summary: How Edelgard, Hubert, Seteth, Hanneman, and Rhea react to having an easily flustered lover.
༓Edelgard von Hresvelg She doesn’t mind. It’s just how you are. But Edelgard is a very cool and reliable woman, and so used to taking responsibility that she doesn’t typically realize what she has said or done until you blush, making her flustered in return. A few examples are when you were hurt and she effortlessly lifted you in bridal style or when she shielded you with her body, trapping and pinning you against the wall.
༓Hubert von Vestra If he is being honest Hubert finds it so amusing that he actively tries to see you become flustered, a devilish smirk on his face whenever he does it. He doesn’t get too flustered by things or not as easily as you do. However, the things he will do to get a reaction out of you is bushing his hand or fingers against your skin that’s so faint it is a ghostly touch, leaving goosebumps behind. Or kisses he promised to give you but makes you work for it instead with a smirk.
༓Seteth He doesn’t get nearly as flustered as Edelgard or Hanneman although depending on how intimate the situation is between the two of you will make him blush. But there is something so cute with how you react that it makes him subconsciously more flirtatious, more heart-racing behavior. Stolen moments are hidden away in a dark corner of the room to not get caught by others as he sneaks kisses, touches, and low whispers against your ears. Each reaction makes him chuckle in response.
༓Hanneman von Essar Unless told why your face is often blushing it will take him a while because Hanneman can’t see someone getting flustered over his dorky self. Although if told or once he realizes it, he’ll blush as well especially if you are the one who told him. Hanneman almost feels like an awkward schoolboy who trips over his words when you respond to his actions. He is too much of a gentleman to attempt to make you react like this on purpose.
༓Rhea Likewise to Seteth and Hubert, she finds it quite adorable. She loves your reactions so much that compared to the others, she is more aggressive, actively trying to make you a mess. Soft touches on your skin that are followed by kisses or blowing air against your ears. One favorite of Rhea’s is kissing you after she or you had something sweet to eat, it makes her almost want to eat you, making her lick your lips a little. Anyone would be shocked to see her behavior but if anyone was to comment on it, the only reply from Rhea is a closed-eye smile because it’s nearly impossible to fluster her.

I've spent a lot of my day sorting out my three houses ocs and i. am so happy with how they've turned out so far.
as I've said before, they're all characters that I like to throw into various games. while they differ to suit the series they've been thrown into, their background will near enough stay the same.
here's some basic info! (about them in the three houses universe)
The Midnight Rabbits are a small group of merchants selling valuable goods, as well as offering mercenary services. Due to their positive reputation, the Church currently have them employed at Garreg Mach to help out the knights and townspeople, and to sell their wares to them too. At least, that's what you've been told... but it feels as though there's more to them than what everyone is letting on.
Lunaris (He/Him):
The leader of the Rabbits. Seen as a very quiet and possibly unnervingly calm individual, he's actually very sweet once you get to know him. Is fiercely protective of his friends if he feels they're in danger.
Birthday: 13th Day of the Wyvern Moon (October 13th) - 17/18 Pre-timeskip / 23 Post-timeskip.
Preferred Class - Warlock / ???? (secret unit exclusive class ooooooo)
Strengths - Reason / Lance / Authority / Flying
Weaknesses - Heavy Armour / Bows
Budding Talent - Faith
Supports - Byleth / Lucien / Max / Tyler / Edelgard / Hubert / Linhardt / Bernadetta / Petra / Dimitri / Dedue / Annette / Ashe / Claude / Marianne / Ignatz / Seteth / Flayn / Yuri / Hapi
Can be S-supported by either gender Byleth
While he has paired endings with most of the characters he has supports with, it should be noted his canon ending is with Lucien.
Lucien (He/Him)
Armed with a sharp wit and silver tongue, alongside some frustratingly good luck, Lucien is very good at getting what he wants. While he certainly has a snarky streak, he cares a lot about his friends. Lunaris's right-hand man.
Birthday: 21st Day of the Garland Moon (June 21st) - 18/19 Pre-timeskip / 24/25 Post-timeskip.
Preferred Class - Trickster / Dancer
Strengths - Sword / Reason / Faith / Authority
Weaknesses - Heavy Armour / Axes
Budding Talent - Bows
Supports - Byleth / Lunaris / Max / Tyler / Hubert / Ferdinand / Dorothea / Dimitri / Felix / Mercedes / Ingrid / Lorenz / Hilda / Lysithea / Manuela / Hanneman / Yuri / Balthus / Constance
Can only be S-supported by male Byleth
While he has paired endings with most characters he has supports with, only the ones with male characters are romantic in nature. Any endings paired with female characters are purely platonic. (Basically, he's gay).
It should also be noted that his canon ending is with Lunaris.
Max (He/Him)
Upbeat and outgoing, almost to the point of recklessness, Max is just a ball of sunshine. Has a love of the outdoors and lot of skill in combat and, surprisingly, baking. Tries to approach every task with enthusiasm.
Birthday: 19th Day of the Lone Moon (March 19th) - 15/16 Pre-timeskip / 21/22 Post-timeskip.
Preferred Class - Sniper
Strengths - Bow / Riding / Flying
Weaknesses - Reason / Faith
Budding Talent - Lance
Supports - Byleth / Ferdinand / Caspar / Petra / Felix / Annette / Ingrid / Ashe / Raphael / Leonie / Lysithea / Flayn / Balthus
Can be S-supported by either gender Byleth
Tyler-Rose / Tilly (She/Her)
Should be given an award for her patience. Loves her friends very much, and they love her just as much back. Despite her usually gentle demeanor, she is not afraid to lay down the law when needed. Has great knowledge of different weapons due to her father being a weaponsmith.
Birthday: 9th Day of the Great Tree Moon (April 9th) - 18/19 Pre-timeskip / 24/25 Post-timeskip.
Preferred Class - Falcon Knight
Strengths - Flying / Axe / Lance / Heavy Armour
Weaknesses - Riding / Bow
Budding Talent - Sword
Supports - Byleth / Hubert / Bernadetta / Dorothea / Dedue / Sylvain / Mercedes / Marianne / Hilda / Claude / Leonie / Hapi
Can only be S-supported by female Byleth
Tyler has paired endings with many characters she has supports with, however only the ones with female characters are romantic.
I plan to make more detailed posts about them all in the future (probably during oc week if it happens, whenever that may be). Some of this is subject to change as this is all a quick summary of what I have for them so far. I hope yous like them! :3

For the FE3H meme, I went with some I don't necessarily know from you! 16, 22, 31, 38, 42
Ah, hello friend. Let's see.
16. Rank the Church of Seiros characters from your favorite to least favorite.
I was dreading one of these because I knew it would take forever asdf. I'm very fussy since I'm pretty fond of the cast. With that being said:
Seteth, Flayn, Manuela, Alois, Shamir, Cyril, Hanneman, Rhea, Catherine, Gilbert
22. What character do you headcanon as ace or aro?
Linhardt has always read as ace to me, actually. With how I write him, maybe Felix too? But that's up in the air.
I do like hearing about others ideas of this though! I've seen some that I think could be really interesting to play with.
31. What is your favorite pre-timeskip character design or outfit?
I love Dorothea's little hat and boots. Makes me smile.
38. Who is your favorite teatime companion?
Yuri, easily. I just think he's neat.
42. Do you have / are you willing to share a possible controversial opinion or headcanon you have about a character?
I have a few, though I don't know how much they range from being actually controversial.
The biggest one I've seen is Byleth does have a personality and a character arc, and what really cripples it is their lack of voice. I can only speculate as to why that decision was made since they have VAs.
The biggest thing is... they're actually pretty goofy. They like to joke around, especially with Dimitri and Edelgard in particular.
I don't know if this is controversial or just divisive. I've seen folks go both ways.

LIONESS
Warnings: Angst, fluff, small violence
Words: 20.130
“Begin.”
Loud clashing of lances can be heard through Garreg Mach hallway.
The red-haired skirt chaser barely able to hear you said it when you rushed him. Sylvain knew that he should focus on his strikes. He didn’t have time to be impressed at this small, petite girl that is jabbing her lance so fast against him. Devastatingly fast. And strikingly strong. ‘It is such a wonder how a small, petite body like hers held so much power’. That’s the last thing that passed his mind before (Y/N)’s lance has cracked so loudly against his that he thought it might snap. Beautiful, fierce, deadly (E/C) orbs that staring into his soul has captivated the Gautier heir and got him hard knock on his shin, felling him over.
“Whoa there! I yield. You do like it rough, don’t you, (Y/N)?” Sylvain raise his hands on the air with and winks seductively. Rolling your eyes, you put a light tap on his neck at his remarks.
“Though she be but little, she is fierce. (Y/N) is the youngest among us, but she is indeed a Lioness!” Dimitri claps over your third in a row winning for today. You beat Felix in sword and Dimitri in the lance spar.
“That’s what you get for skipping classes, Sylvain. And.. keep up with your solid techniques, excellent moves, and rapid quick footwork, (Y/N). That’s all for our combat class today,” said Professor.
“She’s a few inch shorter than me but she had effortlessly defeated Blue Lions’ strongest lancer and swordsman! That’s my favourite lil sis (Y/N) for you!! ” said Annette giddily. She hugs you in a death grip embrace and sings her silly song.
Everyone are so nice to you, to the point of spoiled rotten! Especially Ingrid and Mercie! They are like your big sisters, always offering their help to ride pegasi and give endless supplies of baked sweets that you love very much. Felix is kinda harsh and always eager to spar with you, but he’s the first person to get angry when someone bullies you because you are so small. So kind, almost feel like a big brother! Dimitri helps you with your late night studies and picking books in the higher shelves on the library a lot. Dedue and Ashe cook dinner together with you on your duty day.
They see (Y/N) as the sweet smol bean that has to be protected at all cost!
“Are you free tonight, Munchkin?” Care to join me to visit the town and get something to eat? I know this little restaurant that has nice dessert! My treat, of course! Think of it as a token of congratulations from me on your brilliance today!” Sylvain put his hand on your shoulder in a friendly gesture and wink seductively.
“Seteth will scold us for sure, Syl! This is the fourth or fifth time we went for a late dinner this week,” you pout at his invitation. “He won’t. I’ll walk you back before curfew as usual. Don’t want my Kitten to get hurt on her way back. Night walk can be dangerous, you know.”
“Why you are being so nice to me, Syl... Your girls will be upset and kill me for sure.”
“Nah.. I don’t have any! It would be a shame to waste such a beautiful evening alone. Besides, I don’t want to let my Munchkin starved in her sleep! Not to mention that you just looked awfully cute with your cheeks stuffed.” You smacked his shin and rewarded with a loud yelp from him. “Lead the way. And.. it’s not like I like it or something like that, you know! Don’t get any wrong ideas,” you hide your blush and took his huge hand in your tiny ones.
The food was delightful as usual and Sylvain stay true to his words about going back before the curfew.
As you both closed the large door’s that marked the dormitory, you were greeted by the crisp spring night. Warm wind passed over your forms, and crickets chirped in the night.
“While we’re at it, how about a little board games rematch at my quarters? I got a new strategy to show you, Syl!”
“Bring it on then, (Y/N)! Let’s bring some sweet buns as usual to snack on later as well, then.”
“It’s a deal!”
“I’d think playing it on the bed would be more comfortable than doing it on the floor. You might catch another cold and passed out like last month in my room. It scared the living daylights out of me! Nope, never trying that again.”
“It’s not fun being frail and get sick easily.” You sigh.
“No problem. Think of it as a good chance for me to get to carry you around in my arms. For our weddi-- Ouch!!” he faux a sad face melodramatically when you punch his hand away playfully. “You might be small and petite but these hands are a force to be reckoned with. You’re as strong as a lioness,” said the philanderer as he ruffled your hair affectionately.
It was such a beautiful night.
---
“Do you have a moment, Miss (Y/N)? I have something important to tell you regarding my research and your Crest. We can discuss it in more detailed manner in my research room,” Professor Hanneman ask you out of the blue after the afternoon battle strategy class.
“Crest? But I’m sure I don’t have any, Professor! It’s stated as clear as a day in my enrollment documents, isn’t it?”
“There’s a mistake, Miss (Y/N). And I sworn it on my name as the Father of Crestology, you do HAVE a Crest. A Major one at that! Congratulations! I have sent a letter to your family and inform other Professors and your House Leader regarding this matter. I have my suspicion about your Crests since I watch your prowess at combat and when it activates, the timing, and the flash of....”
You are a bit shocked about this and decided to ignore this fact, having a hard time to process this shocking information. Your family and other members of Blue Lions will be very surprised of this information. Is it going to be a good thing or not? Professor Hanneman’s murmurs fell on your deaf ears as you politely excuse yourself out of his room. ‘It’ll be better to keep this as a secret to avoid unwanted attention nor unnecessary commotion’ you think to yourself.
---
Moons have passed. Then the night of the ball came. Urged by your curiosity, you are eager to wait for your true love at the Goddess Tower. You were hardly expecting to see Sylvain, of all people. The surprise at seeing each other was mutual. The both of you stood there for a moment, simply enjoying the scene before you. You wrapped your arms around yourself to stave off the chill that went down your spine, shuffling closer to the older man.
“Do you even believe the rumors about this place?” he asked as he lay his uniform coat over your shivering form. “My curiosity gets the best of me. But am glad to find you here, Syl.”
“Huh.” Sylvain went quiet, his face etched with contemplation. After he thought about it a little, he let out a huff of breath and frowned.
“Well, the person I’m interested in... is already here. You’re here alone. I’m here alone. I was thinking maybe....”
“Wait. Me?”
“Well, of course! We’re the only two people here, aren’t we? I keep thinking about it, and it just makes sense. My Crest and yours...”
“How did you...?”
“Dimitri told me. I have confirmed it with Professor Hanneman as well. A Major one, he said. So lucky.”
He looked down at you menacingly. Your eyes were averted away from his, looking away into the distance. “What do you mean? I’m still me, Syl. Crest or no Crest.”
Despite your dismissive answer, something changed in his expression. He took his hands from behind his neck and stalked towards you. This wasn’t at all like the kind and flirty Sylvain you loved. He’s... different.
“You know what? I’m a bit jealous. The whole time you were growing up, you never knew you had a Crest. You were free. Nobody pretended to like you. I kind of hate you for that...” he slammed you hard against the wall behind you. Strangled pained noise came from you.
His knees rest on either side of your petite body and his arms cage your head, his much bigger hand grasp yours roughly. “All you’re worth to me is a little bit of fun. We’ve been having fun, haven’t we? I thought that you understood,” Sylvain’s face a mere inch from yours, glaring daggers at you. You can feel your tears begin welling, threatening to spill at his words.
“Is that really what you think of me? I thought... I was different. So… our friendship has just been for nothing?” you muttered quietly, holding back your sobs.
He scoffed. “Of course you are. You’re just some dumb noble looking for crest babies. You never meant anything to me.” His rejection was validation of your worst fear, that you were just like every other girl. Your friendship had all fallen apart and meant nothing for him.
“Playing around with girls is the most fun a guy can have. Besides, I don’t care what you think of me. I don’t intend to change how I live my life. I’m a good-for-nothing, if you haven’t noticed, but I’m still a noble with a Crest. That’s all anyone cares about. It’s best to avoid getting too serious with fools like me.” His expression darkens and unreadable. The carefree mask was long gone.
“My Crest bring me nothing but pain. I thought maybe...if I made someone else suffer, it might help me feel better.” His hand shot up and grabbed you by your throat. Sylvain held you in front of him, tightened his grip, choking you hard. His caramel eyes glowed dark with excitement.
“Unnnghhh......Syl....”
You tried to squirm away but he clamped his hand tighter, making it harder for you to breathe. Your legs felt weak and limp. The pain was too intense.
“You were a spoiled brat who should pay for that Crest. Maybe I’ll collect the debt.” His expression dark as he looked up at you.
Focusing yourself, you punch his jaw as hard as you can. To your surprise, a blinding flash of your Crest shows up when you smack him as hard as you can, making Sylvain flinch in pain, dropping you with a loud thud on the cold floor. You stumbled back and dropped to your knees. Gasping for air, you tried to rub the pain from your throat, doing your best to pick yourself up.
“Sylvain Jose Gautier! I care not for your Crest nor title! It means nothing to me. I like.. no, love you because you are the strongest, kindest, funniest, and the most caring person that I know. Even you are such a skirt chaser, but you always very considerate and protective of me. I never felt this way before about someone. This is my first time but... This… This was a mistake. Sorry. I hope.. you find your own happiness someday,” you said, your voice is raspy from his deadly grip and your sadness. Tears were finally flowing freely from you.
Sylvain’s posture becoming rigid despite his feigned relaxed position. “H-hey,” Sylvain said, his voice softened somewhat. “Please, don’t cry. I’m sorry...”, he tried to pat your head, but you step back instinctively. The red head flinch and turned away when he saw angry purplish hue on your neck. Guilt began creeping on his conscience.
“I believe you. You’re not a bad person, Sylvain, no matter what anyone says. I care about you. Our friendship, dinners, late nights walk and banters... I cherished them a lot. Really, I do. I love you, Sylvain.” You couldn’t meet his eyes, couldn’t look at anything besides the floor. “That’s what I came to tell you, but... nevermind. Good night, Syl. I’ll see you tomorrow in class.”
“Did you mean that? (Y/N), wait!” He spoke with disbelief.
“Why would I lie?” you asked, hardly audible. “Goodbye, Syl.”
His pleas fell on deaf ears as you dash yourself as fast as possible from Goddess Tower, locking yourself inside your quarters, clutching to Sylvain’s uniform coat, while crying yourself to sleep.
---
That’s the last thing that you can remember from your Academy Days. Things were never the same since that night. You never talk to the playboy ever again since that incident. No more night walks or late board games. When you have to work together in weekly duty, there’s an unseen awkward distance and heavy tension between you two.
The notorious philanderer went back into his old ways, going around with a different girl each day. You often catch him glimpse at you with eyes full of remorse and sadness (mostly when he thinks you aren’t looking or noticing). Everyone in the Blue Lions noticed the changes between your relationship but being very considerate of your feelings and trying to not mention anything about it.
Your Father called you back home because of his grave illness in Pegasus Moon, insisting you to leave the Officers Academy behind. Blue Lions was taken aback and sad with your abrupt leave. Going back to your home in Fhirdiad, days flies in a blur motion into moons and years.
---
It’s been 5 years since you left your Academy days in Garreg Mach.
A bloody coup led by Cornelia causes Duke Rufus and Dimitri both to be apparently killed. Her tyranny left Fhirdiad in poor state with poverty and famine. Holy Kingdom of Faerghus thrown into disarray condition with their Prince’s disappearance. The nation is plagued by civil strife and hardship.
With the vast majority of the former Kingdom lords having bent the knee to the overwhelming power of the Empire, all Blaiddyd territory, including the Kingdom capital, is ruled by those who are cooperating with the Empire, and is thus renamed the Faerghus Dukedom. Houses Fraldarius and Gautier were left to spearhead the resistance as the primary opponents of the Dukedom.
As the legitimate Marchioness of your major noble house in Blaiddyd territory after her Father’s passing, (Y/N) decided to keep on fighting against Empire until the bitter end, along with Houses of Fraldarius, Gautier, and Galatea. You keep maintain close relationships them, mostly with the neighbouring Houses, Fraldarius and Galatea. Whether it may be reinforcements soldiers to House Fraldarius or stock supplies to House Galatea, you are so much eager to give it all (sometimes by going there personally—much to your advisors’ dismay) to aid them. Being always giving or adding the most relevant information about current war state developments made you overjoyed when you heard about the news of Dimitri’s plan to recapture Fhirdiad.
---
It’s been forever since your last time fighting on the battlefield. Reclaiming the capital is a daunting task with shortage of soldiers and resources. Rodrigue’s death is a devastating blow to Faerghus’ military strength and resources. Not to mention that House Gautier and Galatea has any resources to spare. With limited resource of your own House, you decided to prioritize evacuation of Faerghus’ citizens and helping Blue Lions to the utmost.
Dimitri marches for Fhirdiad, causing the oppressed citizens to revolt against Cornelia’s tyranny People are rebelling against Cornelia and Fhirdiad has turned into a gruesome battlefield. Fire was everywhere The sound of metals echoed loudly in your ears. Large Titanus crowded the streets and wreaking havoc upon buildings and citizens. With your sword in your hands, you leap and cut through Kingdom Soldiers that is preparing to activate Viskam turrets against Felix.
You pushed forward with great caution. When you are done helping a pair of elders and children under the rubbles to evacuate, you saw him. Sylvain. Fighting over a mage and a large Titanus all by himself. Did he get separated? He barely dodged a fireball when you strike down that mage.
“Munchki--!” He gasped, surprised to see you back.
“Watch out, Syl!”
You leap in front of him, parrying and slash back at the Titanus’ large appendages that is going to smash him. Sylvain cast a Ragnarok and taking down the golem-like creature with a loud explosion, sending flying debris everywhere. He gasped, grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the way.
“Ugh... that hurts. Are you okay, Munchkin?” He was trapped under the rubbles and the first thing that he asked is your safety?
“W-why did you do that, Syl? You got hurt protecting me. Didn’t you want to kill me?”, you said as you helped him out from the rubble. Fortunately he is okay aside from a few scratch and bruises.
“When I thought you were going to be killed for real, my reflexes kicked in. I reacted without thinking. It doesn’t mean I’ve stopped being jealous of you. But, come on, I can’t help looking up to you.” He look at you with eyes full of worry and sadness.
“Sylvain..... Well.. It’s been awhile, but as much as I want to chat with you, we have to help Professor and Dimitri first. Cornelia has brought us so many sufferings. Now’s the time to put an end to all of this. And... thank you, Syl.” He nods and push forward to throw his lance at a Pegasus Knight that is fighting against Ingrid.
“I will go to deactivate Titanus’ lever. I know its location and it will help everyone tremendously against that gigantic monster! I’ll open Fhirdiad’s secret passages within my House territory to help everyone to get better access to Cornelia. When I’m done with it, I’ll regroup with reinforcement soldiers from my House to evacuate more citizens on the east side of Royal Capital, then go to help Dimitri fighting against Cornelia. See you later, Syl. Please stay safe.” You bid your farewell and run through smaller alley path, doing your missions, leaving Sylvain astonished at your very thorough, detailed plans.
Without the Titanus, Cornelia only has archers as her backups. As you take the archers down with Felix and Annette, Professor and Dimitri are working together to close in on her and take her down. It was a gruesome battle, but thanks to everyone’s efforts, casualties were kept to minimum and reclaiming Fhirdiad is a big success after Cornelia has been defeated.
---
It may be spring, but the nights are quite chilly here in Fhirdiad. The people are rejoicing at the return of their King. After a hard won battle of reclaiming Royal Capital of Fhirdiad, celebratory feast shows no sign of stopping. Growing weary of the festivities, you decided to excuse yourself from the banquet at the castle balcony.
“Munchkin. Here you are. His Highness has been looking for you. He wanted to express his gratitude for your loyalty and huge help at reclaiming Fhirdiad.”
“Good evening, Syl. We just did our utmost to help. Fhirdiad’s peace and safety of the Blue Lions is of the most important thing for me, after all.”
A moment of silence passed where both of you stayed still, just basking in the moonlight and enjoying each others’ presence for a while.
“I’m sorry. I really am.” You are taken aback when Sylvain bows his head deeply in front of you.
“I know I messed up really bad and it’s fair enough if you can’t find it in your heart to forgive me. My jealousy got the best of me and it has brought you so much harm. Most girls just want me for my title or my Crest, and when I thought that it was the same for you, I… I was the one who made a mistake. I’m sorry, truly I am.” Peeking at him from the corner of your eye, you could see the furrow of Sylvain’s brows, the frowning twist of his lips. It was a look you’d never seen on him. Regret and pain. He looks so vulnerable. Somehow, you didn’t doubt the apology.
“Please elaborate, Syl.”
“Since I bear a Crest, my parents made sure I was never left wanting. My older brother didn’t have one, and so when I was born, he was pushed aside. My mere existence stole everything from him. There’s so many people that want to get close to me because of my crest. Because of something I didn’t even want to be born with. I wish I could have cared as little about my Crest as you do yours...,” he grimaces, running a hand through his hair briskly. “Women smile at me for the same reason my parents adored me...and my brother wanted me dead. And I have to meet them all with a smile because I have a Crest.” Sylvain purses his lips.
“But you–you’ve never treated me differently. Always being there for me and understand me, and…and–I like you, (Y/N). No. I love you so much that it scared me. A lot,” he says, closing his eyes.
“You say that, but it doesn’t excuse the things you’ve done.” You didn’t want to look at him, didn’t want to let him see mixed expression you were making at his sudden confession but you knew he was looking at you. Intently.
“I was devastated when you left Garreg Mach years ago. I lost you once and I won’t let it happen again. So.... what I’m saying is…” he hesitated and briefly appeared at a loss of words which is very unlike of him.
He hugs you closer very tightly it hurts, cradling you gently against his chest. This close, you can feel the rapid pace of his heart and his nervousness. “Can you give me a second chance?” Sylvain’s touch was awkward and clumsy.
“......I will. But first… Please let me go, Syl. You are crushing me.”
Sylvain paused, as if unsure. “Did you mean that?” Vulnerability colored his tone, softened it. “I’d like to be a man who deserves that. Who deserves you. Even if you want nothing to do with me, one day I will find a way to make it up to you, to earn your forgiveness. I promise.” His voice wasn’t strong with his infamous flirtatious bravado. It was sincere.
“You’re so much more than just your Crest or your status, Sylvain Jose Gautier.” Taking his much bigger hand in your tiny ones, you smiled and whisper it against his hand. “You are the most amazing, kind, strongest, and nice man for me. Your path is your own. I love you just the way you are, Sylvain. Crest or no Crest.” His face turned dark red instantly redder than his hair at your words. Sylvain.exe has stopped working
“You are going to be the death of me, Munchkin!!” Sylvain yells frantically. You can see his ears flushed furious red. He can die happy now. Goddess Sothis please take his soul.
“Why you still call me Munchkin, Syl?” you asked much to your curiousity. “It’s been years but you barely grow a few inch! But y-Ouch!! He yelps when you jab at his stomach. “But you have... grown into a fine, smart, and beautiful woman.”
“Time hasn’t been so kind to me in these past years, Syl. After my Father’s passing, I have to succeed him. Being a Marchioness isn’t an easy task but I learned so much and am still learning.”
“My sincerest condolences for your loss. But... he must be very proud of you, Munchkin. You will be a great Marchioness. Strong, thorough, quick-witted, and lovely as a—”
“Flattery won’t get you anywhere, Mr. Gautier.” You rolled your eyes at him. The redhead laughs softly and embrace you in his arms.
“When this war is over, will you come with me to my homeland? It’s time for the first step in the right direction. I don’t want to marry a girl who wants to use me for my Crest or a girl who someone else chose for me. I want to marry someone I really care about. With you by my side, I’m excited to find out what this new way of life is all about. (Y/N), I’m serious. Marry me. I’d do anything for you. I’m done lying, especially to myself. I’m going to spend the rest of our lives together trying to make you happy. I promise.”
“I’d like to.... introduce you to my parents. They’d love to have a new Gauti—Gyaahh!!!” He shrieked when you stomped your feet on him. “I’m so DONE with you, Syl!!” you said with exasperated look, looking away trying to hide the rising heat in your cheeks. ‘A future with Sylvain...’
There’s a pause when you catch his gaze and find something vulnerable there, something familiar. The flicker of hope, mirrored in your expression. It’s as if everything falls into place and clicks. Then his lips were on yours, soft and hesitant, so unlike his usual self. Your eyes fluttered shut, your lips moulding against his, as his hand came up to cup your cheek. It was all the confession you needed.
“I will, Syl. I promise.”
---
Bonus:
When Professor and the Blue Lions heard about your new relationship with Sylvain, they offer you heartfelt congratulations and throw a little dinner party. Dimitri is OVERJOYED and sobs a little when he saw you are radiating with so much happiness. Back then in your Academy days, he was the one who worry about you the most when Sylvain treated you poorly, after all. Ashe and Dedue throw a lavish dinner to celebrate (Y/N) and Sylvain’s relationship that evening. Mercedes and Annette provide everyone with tasty sweets and dessert. It was a heartwarming small party among Blue Lions members.
Sadly, Sylvain didn’t get to celebrate it together. Rumors had it that Felix and Ingrid has beaten him to a bloody pulp (with Professor’s EXCLUSIVE permission) because he made you their lovely sweet lil sis wept and hurt. Sylvain kept on mumbling something between “Don’t ever hitting another girl”, “RUIN his Lance of Ruin”, “Don’t ever taint her”, or “You’re finished”. Even the kind and benevolent Mercie turned her back and refuse to heal Sylvain. The Gautier heir almost went to hell that evening.
The poor, traumatized philanderer will changing his ways for the better for sure.

Shortened Lifespan: Edelgard vs Lysithea
Now, technically, I’ve already made a post like this before, but I wanted it to be it’s own thing (brought about by a mutual tagging a post of mine and me wanting to go more into depth with it lol).
It’s been very widely accepted by the fandom that Edelgard and Lysithea both go through the expectation of living a shortened life due to the blood experiments done to them, with this partly being used as part of the defense/reasoning for Edelgard going to war instead of doing something more peaceful. She thinks she’s on a timer, like Lysithea, so she hard-starts change to work around her short-lived clock. Makes sense, on the surface.
But like I’ve mentioned on here before, I personally just can’t buy it. Nothing besides the immediate connection of “Edelgard and Lysithea both went through experimentation” suggests that Edelgard has the same shortened lifespan that Lysithea is suffering through.
More under the cut
One thing that immediately stands out, to me, are the differences between their stat spreads and growths (focusing on stats on this post).
Here are Edelgard’s (note: Statues not applied - add five to the stats if you want the true max values):
They are extremely good, especially for a default armor unit. Str and especially Mag are very high, average Dex and Spd (though notably good for an armor unit), good Def, amazing Charm. Her Luck and Res are the only things that are even kinda bad - it’d more accurate to say they’re below average, tho again, 47 Res on an armor unit is fairly high. In fact, of the units that lean towards armor, Edelgard has the highest Res, and even beats out some units that aren’t armor-leaning such as Claude and Felix. Even her seemingly low HP (for an armor) is mitigated by the fact that it’s still some of the highest for a female unit overall (the fifth highest, beat out by Petra, Rhea, Manuela, and Hilda)
What are Lysithea’s, in contrast? (blacked out everyone above her for easier reading):
...Uh. Yeah. In contrast to Edelgard’s far more even spread, Lysithea’s are skewed to fuck. The best Mag in the game and the second highest Dex (losing only to Claude’s 89), and some nice Spd, sure, but everything else takes an extremely large hit. 48 HP is the lowest in the game, pitiful Str and Def, and mediocre Luck, Res, and Charm. This girl is held together by toothpicks, Elmer’s glue, and God’s mercy.
So right off the bat, there’s a huge difference between the two of them in this regard, but I decided to go even further; just how off are Lysithea’s stats, actually? Some things make sense, like low Str and Def, so how different is she compared to others in her class type (magic users).
The magic users of the following factions have the Str stat underlined. First, BE:
BL:
GD:
CoS:
From what we can see, 30 Str isn’t actually out of the norm for a female magic user. The outliers are Rhea and Manuela with their Str in the low 50′s being not just the highest of the women, but of all the main magic users period, though part of that could be contributed to their age (vs Hanneman who is both older - in terms of physical age at least - and who does not focus on physical strength like someone like Gilbert) (Rhea being an older Nabatean could also attribute to this - notice Seteth’s stat spread which also has notably high Mag for a Wyvern Rider unit and Flayn’s, who is younger and who also had only recently woken from a centuries long sleep that she fell into after nearly dying, more odd spread). Following them for the women is Annette, who as we know lugs around a giant axe (Crusher’s weight is 11, making it heavier than most swords and bows and a good few lances - fun fact, it’s heavier than Areadbhar!) which likely lends to her having above average Str for her gender and unit type combination
Now, here’s the fun part: let’s look at the same unit’s Res stats
BE:
BL:
GD:
CoS:
Here’s where an interesting pattern shows up that’s fairly consistent: if a magic unit has bad Str, they have good/great Res to compensate, and vice versa. Annette’s above average Str (remember, for what she is) coincides with her bad Res, same as Manuela’s, and all the magic units with their ass Str have at least a respectable Res to go along with it. The only ones who break this rule are Rhea, due to her Str and Mag being fairly even with a lean towards magic (and also not being playable lol)... and Lysithea. Who has both a shit Str and shit Res stat. Even amongst her magical peers, Lysithea still stands out as particularly fragile and physically weak.
HOWEVER
Do note, for all of the above in terms of going over stats, that they aren’t necessarily the best indicator of anything in particular when it comes to a character; there is no version of me in the multiverse that will ever believe Manuela is stronger than Rhea or that Lorenz has the same amount of stamina as Dimitri, for example. But it is something to note when looking at Edelgard and Lysithea, due to them going through the same experiments and yet one is very clearly doing better in terms of damn near everything and the other very clearly lagging behind in damn near everything
Moving on, we have their Banes and Boons. Edelgard’s Boons are Axes, Swords, Heavy Armor, and Authority, with Banes in Faith and Bows. Of note, Edelgard will say in a Study Request that she believes it is her specifically having two Crests that allows her to be able to shrug on armor like it’s nothing, and her defaulting to an armor class with an axe as her default weapon makes her the literal heaviest she could theoretically be. On top of that, her Banes point to nothing about her physical health hindering her ability to do physically laborious feats.
Lysithea, on the other hand, has Boons in Faith, Reason, and Authority, with Banes in Swords, Lances, Axes, Heavy Armor, as well as Clearing Rubble as a Group Task activity. She has a budding talent in Swords - the lightest of the weapons she’s bad at and some of the lightest weapons in the game - that gives her access to a Combat Art that lets her use something other than Str to give Mt to her sword-based attack. Lysithea, in terms of Banes and Boons when compared to Edelgard (or anyone, really), is very clearly unable to do physically demanding things very well - it’s something she’s actively bad at doing and is a consistent fact about her that crops up in not just her stats and Banes and Boons, but also her supports. Edelgard’s situation is the same.
Edelgard has her supports with Ferdinand, as well as Ferdinand’s supports with Byleth, that showcase her being exceptionally good at combat in terms of physical fighting (as in, no magic, and having a talent in doing feats that would require a good amount of stamina). She beats Ferdinand in combat with one strike, and she is able to take on a Demonic Beast by herself while still fresh in the academy. There are no mentions of her being winded or tired from fighting, and she is more than once praised for her battle prowess.
Lysithea, meanwhile, has at least three supports (Byleth, Lorenz, Cyril) that indicate less than stellar stamina, health, and strength (she straight up faints in Byleth’s supports). While characters looking out for her health can maybe be somewhat attributed to her being one of the youngest students in the cast, the difference between and, say, Cyril, who’s even younger than her, is that she genuinely shows signs of ill health when she pushes herself too far, vs Cyril who is fine even with how much he works. When talking about her prowess in battle it is only ever in regards to her magical capabilities, not anything else, and she is seen constantly working on those capabilities.
And then lastly, there are their endings.
Edelgard has no endings that mention needing to be rid of her Crests - save one, which will be looked at in a bit. In particular, she has an ending with Hubert that indicates she lives on to her “later years,” which is usually attributed to a fairly old age. It is not, in this case, referring to Edelgard’s specific later years (for example, a person who lives to 30 can say their mid-twenties was the later years of their life), because it specifically says that she and Hubert live to their later years, which more likely points towards a longer life.
Lysithea in contrast has multiple endings that either has her and/or her lover actively looking for means to get rid of Lysithea’s Crests, or explicitly say that she dies young. There’s... not much more to add to that lmao
But! There is one ending with Edelgard that mentions her getting rid of her Crests, and it even says they restore her lost time! That’s proof positive, isn’t it?
Well, funnily enough, this is her ending with Lysithea that mentions this, and it... appears to be straight up incorrectly translated. As has been pointed out by others, the JPN ending doesn’t specifically mention restoring their lifespans, it simply says Edelgard and Lysithea “discovered a way to exchange the crest’s power for the restoration of a lost lifespan.” While, if we look at the surface level “Edelgard and Lysithea both had Crests implanted into them” similarity, it makes sense to attribute this restoration to the both of them, looking at everything else leans towards this statement mostly being for Lysithea. Which, given that this is the only ending - or really, the only place period - Edelgard has that even mentions her wanting to be rid of her Crest, let alone actively working towards it, it makes sense that this isn’t for her.
Now, all of the above isn’t directly pointing towards anything - it’s a lot of speculation, since nothing about Edelgard herself having a short life is ever explicitly said in the game. But when looking at all of the differences between Lysithea and Edelgard, when looking at how badly Lysithea stacks against everyone else vs how amazing Edelgard stacks, at how often dying young is mentioned with Lysithea vs Edelgard, at how much Lysithea focuses on her lifespan vs Edelgard, I personally just can’t believe that they’re similarly afflicted with a shortened life.
There’s almost nothing in the game to suggest that other than the one thing they have in common, which is the experiments themselves - if they do, then Edelgard simply doesn’t care as much about it as Lysithea, and/or it isn’t nearly to the extent of Lysithea, to the point where she feels no need to mention it anywhere. And this is the same character that brings up her ten dead siblings in the first support with the player character, so something as big as “oh yeah and I’m going to die relatively soon and young” feels like something she would similarly mention as something one should know about her, which she doesn’t. This seems, to me, to be just a popular fan theory that isn’t really all that supported in the game itself.
#Lysithea#Lysithea (fire emblem)#Edelgard#Edelgard (Fire Emblem)#exqueuese me princess#can this be considered meta?#to be 100% clear: this is my opinion based on what's in the game#all good if you don't agree!

Hello prof what’s ur favorite thing about the other profs manuela, hanneman and jeritza? And what about seteth?
I suppose I can indulge you on this.
Manuela's singing voice, for one. Her versatility, also. She can heal just as well as she can destroy, or perhaps better. However, she can be rather untidy... she'd hate to hear that from me. Well, I helped her clean once, but the following week, her quarters were a mess again. I never did it again. How she keeps the infirmary sterile, I do not know.
Hanneman has a habit of ...scrutinising me. He says it's for research, but sometimes it's downright intrusive. I suppose he does not realise it, for he only has his studies in mind while doing so. That sounds negative, but it is something to be admired—his dedication to his job.
I think it's secretly funny when Manuela and Hanneman clash. I like them both in the same room for that reason.
Jeritza... his prowess in battle. Sparring with him is exhilarating in a different sense. I also think it's unexpected that he is obsessed with sweets. And he likes to watch the stray cats in his free time, though I do not see him approach them. He makes for a formidable ally and a terrifying enemy.
He ignores most others.
Seteth is a man I find difficult to be around at times. He is painstaking, dedicated, and loyal to the monastery, well, mostly to Rhea. He seems to always be weighing one thing versus another in his mind. I think there is something to be said about his protectiveness over Flayn. Though it appears excessive, it is also borne out of love.

Before Byleth, did Hapi ever develop any meaningful relationships with people associated with the Academy? What kind of terms was Hapi on with past students or former/current faculty? Or did they try to avoid academy associates altogether?
Before Byleth, did Hapi ever develop any meaningful relationships with people associated with the Academy?
before byleth? nope. hapi kept to themself and the ashen wolves (+ elfie) down in abyss up until cindered shadows. even afterwards, they only really interacted with dimitri, ashe & linhardt since they had already interacted with the three of them thanks to what went down in abyss
that being said, hapi genuinely likes dimitri a lot, which does stem greatly from their encounters with his stepmother, anselma, in the past. the two are similar and it gives hapi a comforting sense of familiarity when interacting with him (granted i haven’t done an azure moon playthrough with the wolves, so i don’t know if they’d happen to have anything to say about dimitri’s character post-timeskip. i imagine they wouldn’t be too jazzed about it).
they’re fond of ashe too, even though he does want to be a knight (derogatory). hapi greatly admires his sense of justice and is continuously surprised by his eagerness to trust and defend them. they wish more knights were like ashe. oh, and of course he’s fun to read stories with!
their relationship with linhardt is a little more strained though. he is incredibly blunt and honest, traits hapi likes in a person, but in practice it means he’s not shy about placating them for self preservation reasons and expressing an interest in studying their unique crest and its curse. it hits a little too close to their experience with cornelia, the idea of being someone’s ‘research subject’, often leaving them wondering if he even likes them as a person. ultimately the two still get along despite that. linny’s someone they can just... chill with. plus it’s nice to have an ally in someone who isn’t as interested in the war either
hapi has only had minor interactions with characters beyond that circle of friends, usually from shared meal times, training, tasks around the monastery and just generally being in byleth’s class
What kind of terms was Hapi on with past students or former/current faculty? Or did they try to avoid academy associates altogether?
neutral terms with most students, bad terms with faculty members (especially the super religious ones)
hapi did spend some time with alois when originally being moved into abyss, and as much as they hated his obnoxiously bad jokes he was the only knight of seiros to actually treat them with kindness, so they kinda like him
beyond alois, they avoided any and all contact with faculty members. hapi is kind of intrigued by shamir* and cyril though. there are dagdans and almyrans in abyss, sure, but they mostly keep to themselves and chances are wouldn’t be up to chatting about their homelands to a stranger like them. while hapi’s original desire was to see fodlan, the world beyond it is just as interesting and they’d like to learn more should the opportunity arise
*i know that hapi has supports with shamir and claude in three hopes, but i haven’t seen them yet. if they happen to talk about dagda and almyra then i wouldn’t know
never interacted with the other professors. hapi gets enough ‘crest inspired’ interactions from linhardt already so they wouldn’t bother with hanneman, and they have a terrible habit of actively avoiding the infirmary even when injured so they didn’t see much of manuela either. and jeritza? he was intimidating and creeped them out
although rhea did eventually allow hapi freedom following the events of cindered shadows, they’re still not the biggest fan of her or her more loyal followers, such as seteth, catherine and the knights of seiros. ambivalent towards flayn since she’s not really involved with the church’s dealings and is a fellow survivor of kidnapping
#( whaddaya want? ) asks#( keep your expectations in check ) headcanons#locktap#apologies for taking a bit to get to these!#three hopes keeps distracting me ajkhdjkas#this was... a ramble. i hope it was coherent

If we try and remove Byleth from Three Houses, who would likely be their replacement/s in the storyline? In AM, it will obviously be Dedue. But, what about in the other routes?
There's no easy answer that works for all the routes, because while removing Byleth completely undoubtedly would have made the overall writing of Three Houses stronger it would have also required a different focus and some extensive rewriting, especially where Sothis and Rhea are concerned. It'd also need the house leaders to become full PoV characters and also likely controllable in exploration, although that would have benefitted all three of them. Even if Byleth loses their self-insert status (and probably gender variability, in that case) and becomes a recruitable teacher like Hanneman and Manuela who only becomes central to the plot in Silver Snow, that would still require quite a bit of reworking...and would have lost the fans of Avatar dating sims, which has apparently been the most lucrative demographic of FE players for the last decade.
Azure Moon does indeed fare the best without Byleth, helped greatly by it being the most traditional FE story and the one that trims a lot of the fat in Three Houses's undercooked story elements, ex. the Agarthans and the mystery surrounding who and what Byleth is. It's already got the best pacing, the clearest arc for its protagonist, the best relationship between its hero and villain, and the best sense of dramatic payoff in ending where it does. The Byleth-free version would be all about power couple Dimidue, with added focus on Dimilix as a second relationship that begins roughly but develops into one of equal significance. Dedue and Felix would grow into a dynamic comparable to August and Dorias toward Leif in FE5, or Soren and Titania toward Ike in FE9: a pair of advisors with vastly different views of the world and who care for their leader in very different ways and so are forced to come to an understanding. They'd be fully integrated into the plot, allowing them to participate in story moments like Rodrigue's death and the resolution of the Duscur mystery much more organically than they do in canon, not to mention be the ones along with Gilbert and Rodrigue to help Dimitri through his darkest moments. The golden ending is an orgy.
Would IS ever write that? Absolutely not. It'd be too overtly gay, even if the relationships were still only kept to subtext, and there's no plot-relevant waifu bait to be had. Fandom would decry that AM as even more misogynistic than Echoes, and not progressive enough because with no Avatar S ranks Dimitri's queer relationships wouldn't be "canon." They'd be no homo'ed just like Ike/Soren is...which they are now, only it'd be more prominent with no Dimileth taking up such a large portion of Dimitri's fanbase.
I have no idea how this reworked Three Houses would handle the Eagles route split, so it'd probably be better off without one. Silver Snow would follow Byleth as they (she? he? The former allows for a second female lead, the latter delves into magical genderqueer territory with Byleth as the incarnation of a goddess) teach the Eagles and gradually uncover Edelgard's nefarious plans only too late to stop them. Apart from Byleth now having a definite gender, voice, and personality - quite a lot, I know - not much of the actual substance of SS would necessarily need to change. It would certainly benefit from a second pass in the writers' room, Byleth or not, like handling the Gronder rematch in a less awkward way, actually working to develop the antagonism between Byleth and Edelgard outside of two cutscenes, and making the final chapter make any kind of sense and not just "Rhea succumbs to dragon degeneration because you need to fight a final boss, Seteth handwaves the whole thing with a line referencing something that got referenced once back in like Chapter 2." Just...some kind of effort there would be nice.
At any rate SS with Byleth as an actual character would be more strongly-written for it, allowing them to function as a genuine protagonist. (Alternatively, make Ferdinand the protagonist...but that would resolve in him and Hubert putting on an elaborately-staged musical where they work through their feelings in the middle of fighting on opposite sides of a war. You know what? Give me that version of SS instead. Way more interesting.)
For Crimson Flower, drop the pretense right from the start. Edelgard's your PoV character, she knows she's the Flame Emperor and what she's doing throughout the school year, and Part 1 is about her trying to maintain the façade of a normal student while she's planning a war on the DL. If they insist on keeping some of the mystery, that wouldn't be impossible as it's obvious Hubert is the brains of their operation and he keeps most of what he does hidden from Edelgard anyway. I'm not really sure how to work the waifu hot for teacher angle into a PoV version of Edelgard; as much as I enjoy it from the comedic standpoint of Hubert never getting any because his lady never looks at him twice I think CF would be stronger if Byleth stayed with Rhea and the route didn't bother with working out their relationship to the Nabateans. Just genocide 'em all as Edelgard conquers the continent and convinces herself it's all for the best. She can shed a tear over Byleth's corpse while Hubert brandishes a cleaver with even more relish than usual to extract that valuable Crest stone. The ending is basically the same minus the Edeleth, with it being even more obvious that the shadow war against the Agarthans is going to resolve in Hubert taking his place as the real Manfroy of this story.
And as for Verdant Wind, the whole route would need a rewrite, to give it a more distinct identity from SS and to make it work with a protagonist whose personality and arc revolve around revealing very little about himself to anyone else. Players would undoubtedly find out much more about Claude that way than they do in canon VW, and it'd probably work better if it kept Edelgard's war to the background and refocused hard on the worldbuilding discoveries and how they play into Claude's growing understanding of Fódlan. With or without Byleth, a better-written VW would be vastly different from the canon version.
So aside from the house leaders taking over Byleth's role as PoV characters and exploration avatars I don't see anyone else assuming their exact role in supporting said leaders. Dimitri has an abundance of male love and camaraderie, Edelgard gets all worked up over Byleth but is still completely willing to step over them to achieve her goals (also Hubert is there), Claude would likely see his background and beliefs teased out of him gradually by all the Deer in their own ways, and Byleth as an actual character could make SS all about their Nabatean family and the bonds, magically incestuous or otherwise, they can form with the surviving dragons.

Humans don't like Zanado fruits?
I think it's supposed to be inedible (but the golden Zanado fruit is).
And yet, I refuse to believe a fruit growing in Zanado would be inedible by Nabateans, who originally lived here.
Cue Flayn gifting one of them to Dimitri, who eats it without any problem.
Fodlan drama : Rhea baked a Zanado pie herself for Cyril to offer to his new classmates - to make friends! - and no one can eat it.
Raphael tried but he cannot. To Lysithea's chagrin, the pie looks appetizing and all, but it's full of those things (she heard those fruits are used to feed animals?) - who ever baked this has no taste, or wants to kill them all.
Cyril blames Manuela, unaware that Prof Hanneman knows it cannot be her, Manuela knows how to cook and not to put poisoned fruits in her pies.
Rhea is horrified, realising she mixed Zanado Fruits for plums, and has Seteth create a diversion in the hallway while she swaps the pies - he sighs and removes his tunic, immediately interrupting Garreg Mach's activities for the day, as everyone comes to, uh, see what's wrong.
The Golden Deer class leaves to see what is causing such a ruckus, enabling Rhea to switch pies.
No one realises what happened, but Raphael says the pie smells better than he thought, so he digs in it and eats half of the plate.
Only Marianne saw what happened, but no one noticed her, and she is pretty sure no one would ever believe her if she said a thing. Just like when Dorte tells her Flayn is a fearsome and mythical beast.
#anon#replies#FE16#Fodlan nonsense#lizard family time?#Dorte is wise and knows better but no one believes him not even Marianne :'(#Rhea is not above using Seteth's abs for her plans#Rhea still doesn't understand to this day why humans like to see her brother shirtless#she kept the zanado fruit pie and shared it with her bro and niece#Of course Manuela stared at Seteth's abs just like Hanneman Gilbert Catherine Shamir and even Alois

Behold, this came to me today. Why Edelgard blames the Church, the real reason.
Remember during the Remire chapter, how Edelgard said the following? “ It certainly appears that all of the events surrounding the monastery are connected by a single thread. However... I think it's possible that it may just be a result of different motives overlapping.” It’s easy to write this off as her trying to divert the blame from herself, especially with her next sentence, But let’s just think about what she said here. The Flame Emperor (aka Edelgard) and TWSITD have different motives, they have different reasons for doing all this that overlap.
As she mentions in the Japanese version, her goal is to put Fodlan back to what it once was. This seems to be linking her to her ancestor WIlhelm. After all, we have these two tidbits of information about him and what he did.
1) - Imperial Year 32: The War of Heroes - Wilhelm Paul Hresvelg, the inaugural Adrestian Emperor, raised an army in pursuit of the unification of Fódlan. With his might, he hunted and destroyed any house's territory that dared to seek more power.
2) Hanneman “Consider this. At its inception, the concept of nobility assumed that the greatest among the populace would rise to power.”
We have a war of conquest and an attempt at meritocracy from Big Willy, alongside crushing anyone who tried to gain more power and challenged his authority. This is what the Empire once was. We know Edelgard wants to impose her own meritocracy, the devs did say in the Nintendo Dream interview that CF was about getting rid of those who stand in your way, and there’s this line from CF’s Japanese ending.
“This is when the crowned Emperor Edelgard of the Adrestian empire succeeded in uniting all of Fódlan.“
Makes it sound like it’s her goal right there. Likewise, before the final battle Arundel/Thales has this to say.
“ When this fight is over, a world completely controlled by the Empire will be upon us. “
Which Edelgard says not completely...but then again she says this at the end of AM to Dimitri
“The war's end will spell destruction for one of us. There can only be one ruler of the world...”
We also have to remember that the Hegemon Husk is presented as the conclusion of the ideals Edelgard serves (according to Cipher). To quote Dimitri, “To be changed beyond all recognition... That is what lies at the end of the ideals you served so diligently.” That monsterous form Edelgard threw away her humanity for is meant to show us that Edelgard doesn’t buy into the whole humanity thing. She’ll throw away hers, becoming a tyrant in the process, all in order to see those ideals through. AM is the one route where she takes it a step further, after the loss of her allies.
And at the end of CF, Arundel/Thales is there to see “The very moment that humans will finally be free from the control of that false beast of a goddess...” But he calls the people of Fodlan beasts multiple times. At his base, he’ll call Claude a base animal, and if you attack him with an unspecific unit he’ll say this. “You're nothing but animals performing tricks in the hopes of pleasing the goddess. You will never see the sunlight again!“ He considers those who serve the Goddess animals, meaning those who fight against the Goddess and her kind are humans in his mind.
The final battle is where Edelgard’s motives overlap with TWSITD’s. She’s there to conquer Fodlan, and they are helping her to do so via Crest Beasts, powerful weapons, weakening her enemies through assassinations, the whole 9 yards. And in return, she liberates humanity (i.e. them) from a false goddess, an inhumane beast who subjugated them and drove them down into the darkness seeking the light they lost so long ago (Thales to Flayn or Seteth: Your eyes, hair, ears, and blood... We remember it all. We remember how you ruined us. How you stole our light and condemned us to eternal darkness!).
Which is annoying considering their own fucking texts reveal that, yeah, they know the reason Sothis got pissed was because they went around killing everyone. Those texts also reveal that they have their own gods, so they aren’t some diehard athiests. This is their holy war, which Edelgard fights for them so she can achieve total control of Fodlan.
And as we all know, Edelgard lies in CF to make herself look good (taking credit for Byleth’s leadership) and her enemies look bad (Arianrhod). She’s not above slandering those who stand in her way, blaming them for things they didn’t do (implied with Aegir). Her blaming the Church for Fodlan’s ills is simply a means to look good going after them in payment to her benefactors.

Things in Fire Emblem: Three Houses that after 200+ hours still never fail to get to me (word vomit incoming):
When you’re sprinting around the monastery at the speed of light, the number of NPCs that exclaim “what the-?!” as you nyoom past them
“Please do not eat the weeds”
Sylvain’s pick-up formula that becomes incredibly apparent when you’re catching up on his support scenes with the girls - “Hey [name], you look really cute when you’re [activity/mood].”
Felix’s disdain for his father. Idk if I’m projecting but something about him unabashedly tearing his father a new one every time they see each other is incredibly therapeutic for me. Honestly, just listening to Felix verbally eviscerate people in general is incredibly satisfying. Go OFF on them, Fe!
The dramatic irony and humor that can be had/found on subsequent playthroughs when you know Seteth and Flayn’s full backstories. So many little things that I didn’t think twice about my first run are suddenly hilarious. (”Which [Saint] is your favorite, Professor?” I know your game, fish girl)
Upside down Claude memes
Hilda absolutely DESTROYING the entire enemy force and then complaining that she’s a delicate flower and the battlefield is no place for her like HONEY YOU’RE A TANK, EMBRACE IT
Placing Dedue in a choke point and activating his trait skill, then watching and laughing as people try and fail to barrel through this impassable mountain of a man, usually killing themselves in the process.
“Stay away!” Bernadetta screams in terror before absolutely erasing a man/woman/otherwise from existence.
“Burn until we meet again.”
“It’s all becoming clearer.”
Literally any and all of Sylvain’s kill/level quotes. He’s carried my dumb ass through so many battles I could probably recite them all in my sleep
How I never fail to - out loud - say “Thot” every time Sylvain’s “Be gone” kill line plays
The much more obscure reference of me - out loud - asking “For combat?” every time Ashe announces “I must steel myself!”
Feral Dimitri
“You lost to ME?” / “*sigh* and I didn’t even enjoy it.” / “You overestimated yourself.” - These are just some of the ones that come immediately to mind, but imagine, if you will, being absolutely destroyed by a pink haired loli or a sleepy wizard or an otherwise very delicate looking high school aged child and then hearing - as you pull in your last dying breath - them say that to you, as they stand over your mangled body. Seriously, these children are fucking savages.
How Sylvain, despite bitching and moaning about crest babies his entire support chain, will inevitably have boatloads of children if you get him a paired ending with a female character. I know his hypothetical family is a product of love not careful breeding, but it’s just hilarious to me. This man went from being pathologically terrified of / disgusted by the idea of continuing his family tree to adding entire branches to it. What an absolute Lad.
Sylvain and Felix’s paired endings. I love my boys so much.
Dedue and Mercedes’ paired ending / Dedue and Byleth’s paired ending. They’re the only Dedue endings I’ve seen so I can’t speak for any of his other endings, but they’re so damn wholesome they make me wanna die.
How much I relate to Bernadetta
How Edelgard goes from “stone cold bitch” to “useless lesbian” depending on whether you go Black Eagles or not
Hubert’s sense of humor. The number of times this man has startled me into a fit of laughter with his dry wit is insane.
Manuela and Hanneman’s bickering
Just how fucking broken Mercedes is as a healer. She heals herself 100% of the health she heals other people AND she can use Physic (meaning she can heal from a distance, which end-game essentially allows her to heal from across the map) WHO ALLOWED THIS ABSOLUTE LASS TO EXIST AND CAN I MARRY THEM????
Dancer Felix / Hubert. What can I say? I like my Dancers feral or otherwise vapid as fuck.
Trickster Dorothea, AKA the embodiment of my gay thirst. Get Dancer Thea outta here, Trickster Thea is where its at.
Hapi. Just Hapi.
LET ME MARRY HAPI AS A FEMC IM BEGGING YOU PLEASE
Mercedes being a gigantic troll and nobody being able to tell if it's intentional or she's just oblivious
Petra and Cyril’s supports and their paired ending. The way they promise “forever and ever” and Cyril doesn’t even stop to think about where Rhea will be during that “forever” is just *chef’s kiss* (literally any support where Cyril doesn’t mention Rhea is *chef’s kiss*)
“IS THIS SOME KIND OF SICK JOKE?!”
Just how fucking offended Ferdinand gets when you try to give a lost item to him but it isn’t his. Like chill out man it wasn’t a concentrated attack on your noble honor, I was literally just asking to be nice and cover my bases.
Lorenz and Leoni’s meal dialogue - “Ugh, you sound like my mother...”
“I lost my brother to bandits... is something I’m sure somebody’s said at some point.” On my first playthrough that was such a YIKES joke from Sylvain, but now when I play I just feel bad because that was him trying to open up and be serious and then he immediately chickened out and backpedaled and came off as a total ass because of it. (I know Miklan didn’t die to bandits, but he ran off to be a bandit and to Sylvain I feel like that might as well be the same thing. Also can we talk about how Sylvain still obviously cares about his brother even though he literally TRIED TO KILL HIM MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THEIR CHILDHOOD AND WAS RAMPANTLY ABUSIVE TO HIM, PLEASE SOMEBODY HUG MY BOY!!!!)
Dimitri being the literal hulk and struggling not to break everything he touches
Dorothea and Marianne having themselves listed under their dislikes like BABIES PLEASE LOVE YOURSELVES
The percentage of students who have “ghosts” somewhere on their likes or dislikes. Why are they so relevant?
How you can infer Edelgard’s entire backstory from her dislikes
“GREETINGS, PROFESSOR!”
Yuri and Hubert literally threatening to kill Byleth and me looking around like John Travolta every time like “DID ANYBODY HEAR THAT?!?!?!?!”
Me holding Dedue, Felix, and post TS Dimitri back by the scruffs of their necks as they desperately try to solo every map I deploy them on. Like BOYS, please, contain your murder. I know they attacked you first, but the second line needs EXP too.
Forming a protective circle around Dedue during the attack on Enbarr in Verdant Wind, like if ANYTHING happens to my boy I WILL divine pulse don’t fucking test me (PS Dedue, if you could stop charging ahead and pay attention to my carefully constructed plan of attack, that’d be great)
Edelgard’s little ax twirl on her victory screen
“I AM FERDINAND VON AEGIR!”
#if you can't tell i've been playing three houses again#i ordered the rest of the FE lineup because three houses was my first FE game#but they won't come for a few weeks#so i've been hyperfixating on three houses real hard#fire emblem#fire emblem three houses#fe: three houses#fire emblem spoilers#three houses spoilers#expect some art soon maybe idk

da capo al fine
For eternal beings, the ebbs and flows of time mean very little. Whatever happens, the world will keep moving forward, and so will they. No end. No beginning. For a human, though? Every second counts.
Every word.
Every decision.
A mortal with the power to turn back time is a fearsome creature, because a mortal cares – and if they decide that they’re going to find a timeline where everyone they love survives, they will do whatever it takes to make it happen. Even if it means abusing a power that was never meant to be theirs.
A Fire Emblem Three Houses retelling where everybody lives, basically. Also: Dimileth.
Read on Ao3

*
“You. How long do you intend to sleep?”
Byleth opens her eyes. A young girl she vaguely recognizes stares down at her from a throne of stone. Her eyes, as eerily green as her hair, are expectant and clearly annoyed.
Where am I? Byleth shakes her head in an attempt to clear the cobwebs clouding her mind. Who am I?
“Get on your feet. Right now!” the girl snaps. “You are just like a child, always needing me to hold your hand…” She sighs. “This is the last time, you hear me? No more restarts. This is it.”
Byleth has no idea what any of it means, but she still nods.
The girl’s face softens. “Make it count.”
*
The first seconds are always the worst. Byleth never gets used to those terrifying moments where her entire being is a blank slate. She knows she’s supposed to recognize the bearded man in front of her, but he could just as well have been a complete stranger. Then, it clicks. Everything falls into place. He’s her father. She’s a mercenary. And, most importantly, she’s been here before.
*
Even though most of Byleth’s memories are blurry, the ones about the three heirs are always crystal clear. One look is all it takes to remember their tragic fates. Blue eyes, full of barely restrained hatred. Green eyes, sharp as a blade. Violet eyes, burning with determination. Three young rulers, destined to tear each other apart.
Not this time. Byleth looks at them, one by one, treasuring the innocence they will all inevitably lose. She’s lived through this chain of events more times than she can remember, getting closer and closer to her goal just to see a seemingly insignificant detail turn her dream to dust. Not this time, though. Sothis has given her one last chance, and she won’t let it go to waste.
This time, they will all live.
*
To the boys’ obvious disappointment, Byleth chooses to join the house of the Black Eagles. The three heirs are all suspicious by nature, but Edelgard easily takes the crown. Edelgard trusts no one but herself, which isn’t that surprising considering her only experience with friendship comes from a man who can’t get through a single sentence without mentioning blood. She’s hidden her heart away behind walls as impenetrable as her armor, doing her best to smother the fear and loneliness that lures within her. To bring the true Edelgard out of her shell takes time. Lots, and lots of time. So Byleth picks the Black Eagles, and tries not to notice the flash of darkness in Dimtri’s eyes.
*
Dimitri is young. So very young. He’s yet to grow into the inhuman strength he’ll one day wield with ease, still grinning awkwardly every time he accidentally breaks another training sword. He’s a prince, charming and polite, the definition of picture perfect. No one has any idea what hides behind that flawless smile.
Yet.
Byleth sees the way he looks at her, how his gaze lingers when she swings her blade on the training grounds. Their eyes meet. Her body instinctively reacts, but she forces herself to ignore it. Chronologically, he’s only three years younger than her, but he’s still a kid. Her conflicted heart, however, still remembers the king.
Her life would have been so much easier if she hadn’t fallen in love with him all those lifetimes ago. He forgets. She doesn’t.
*
Before Garreg Mach, Byleth used to think of herself as a fairly unemotional person. People called her the Ashen Demon for a reason. She didn’t really get people, and people didn’t really get her either. Then, she met her students, and everything changed. Now, she cares a lot, and it’s more tiring than she ever could have imagined.
“There we go again,” she mutters to herself as she watches Raphael and Caspar race through the courtyard, up to goddess knows what. She loves them both with all her heart, but critical thinking is not one of their virtues. To be frank, neither is thinking, period. She sighs and hurries after them. She has no idea what they’re going to break this time—a plate, a nose, a window—but they’re definitely breaking something.
*
Byleth has just left her private quarters to head to class when she nearly crashes into Seteth.
“Professor. There’s an… issue, we need to talk about.”
Of course there is. She sighs internally. Sometimes, she wishes she could just skip past certain conversations. She’s gone through this particular one so many times by now that she practically knows every line by heart.
Seteth clears his throat. “Due to your unexpectedly extraordinary tutoring skills, nearly all of this year’s students have requested to transfer to your class. While the feat in itself is admirable, it has led to some unfortunate consequences. Hanneman and Manuela now only share four students between them, and I’ve heard that your classroom is running out of desks. It’s not a very efficient way to run a school.”
“I agree.”
Seteth blinks in surprise. “You do?”
She nods. “I’ve given it some thought, and I think the best solution would be to separate the professors from their assigned houses.”
“That’s a preposterous—”
“The houses themselves would remain, of course,” she quickly adds. “I only propose that we rethink the way we hold our classes. The three of us have different areas of expertise, and we could use that to our advantage if we split up the classes by subject instead of houses.”
“I see.” Seteth hesitates, furrowing his brow. “It’s an unorthodox idea, but… I do see the benefits of your proposal. It could be… efficient. I will get back to you once I have discussed this with Rhea.”
Byleth nods again. Rhea will, albeit reluctantly, say yes, because when Seteth finds something that can be described as efficient, he will make it happen. The classes will be split up between the three professors, and Byleth will get the chance to tutor all the students – including those stubborn last four.
She’s not losing them again.
*
At the night of the ball, Byleth makes sure that it’s the students of the Blue Lions house who make the promise to reunite in five years. Their carefree laughter makes her stomach turn. They have no idea what fate she’s just bound them to.
Dimitri’s smile hurts the most, but she goes through with it anyway. She needs him to be there when she wakes up.
*
Even though Byleth knows it’s hopeless, she still always tries to save Jeralt.
Losing him never stops hurting.
*
“Thanks for letting me borrow your old man’s diary, Teach,” Claude says.
Byleth snatches the notebook out of his hands. “You would have stolen it anyway if I’d said no.”
“Me? Stealing?” He grins, placing a hand on his chest. “Your lack of faith in my moral compass wounds me.”
Byleth raises her eyebrows.
Claude sighs, his façade flickering. “All joking aside, I have to admit that some of the stuff in there is pretty hard to swallow – especially the parts about you. I’ve got so many questions, and I doubt you’ll ever answer a single one of them.” His eyes twinkle. “You sure know how to drive a guy crazy, Teach.”
Byleth shrugs. His obvious frustration doesn’t bother her – not anymore. He’ll eventually figure everything out anyway, with or without her answers. He just doesn’t know it yet.
*
She loves all her students. She really does. But sometimes, she can’t help but think that if Ferdinand yells out his name one more time, she’s going to strangle him.
*
“It’s not my place to question your way of tutoring, but I do feel the need ask you about the attendance record of one of your students,” Seteth says. “Linhardt von Hevring has been absent from nearly half of your classes this month, and I’ve noticed a lack of disciplinary actions. I would recommend stable duty or—”
“He’s doing important research,” Byleth interrupts. “As long as he keeps passing his tests, I don’t see any reason not to encourage it.”
“Well… I suppose I will have to trust your judgment, Professor.” Judging by his frown, he’s clearly not trusting it at all.
Byleth nods. She doesn’t blame Seteth for being skeptical. She would probably have doubted Linhardt too if she hadn’t known just how important that research would be to give some of her students a chance to grow old.
*
While the inferno of hatred that sometimes flares up in Dimitri’s eyes is undeniably terrifying, it doesn’t scare Byleth nearly as much as the cold apathy in Rhea’s.
*
A high-pitched shriek echoes over the monastery. People start looking for its source with obvious concern, but Byleth just smiles a little to herself. The boys of the Black Eagles house always figure out sooner or later that the only way to get Bernie out of her comfort zone is to literally carry her out of it.
*
Every now and then, Byleth slips. She tries to keep everything in the right order, to remember what she’s supposed to know and what’s yet to be revealed, but her memory is far from infallible. Most of the time, no one mentions her little accidents. She’s a strategist, after all. Predicting things is a part of her job description. Some slips, though, are too obvious to go unnoticed.
“Professor… Did you just call me El?”
Byleth groans internally. Yes, she most certainly did. It’s late, she’s tired, and she just casually used a nickname the heiress would never, ever, share with a professor she barely knows.
“No one has called me that since I was a kid. Those who once did are long gone.” Edelgard’s eyes narrow. “How did you know?”
“My apologies,” Byleth says. “I just thought it suited you. I won’t use it again.”
“No… I quite like it.” While the suspicion still lingers in Edelgard’s gaze, a small smile graces her lips. “Please, keep calling me El. I’m not sure why, but I enjoyed hearing you say it.”
Byleth nods. “If that’s the case, I will.”
“Good.” A hint of shyness sweeps over the future emperor’s face. “Thank you, my teacher. It may not seem like much, but it means a lot to me.”
The next time Byleth uses that name, it’s not by accident.
*
Felix’ digs at Dimitri are as sharp as his blade, and so is the resentment in eyes. Dimitri takes the insults without blinking. Their friendship is laced with a burning hatred they both believe is justified. It’s painful to watch, especially considering how easily the swordsman would give his life to protect his childhood friend. He never hesitates. Not even once.
*
“You fool! What were you thinking, charging right into an enemy’s trap? Again?” Sothis’ sharp voice echoes against the stone walls. “Are you just a boulder rolling down whatever hill it’s on? No, even a boulder has more sense!”
Byleth lowers her eyes. Her least favorite part of the cycles may be the first awakening, but this is the one Sothis dreads the most. Not surprising, considering that this is where the goddess has to disappear. It’s inevitable, though, even if she doesn’t run head first into Solon’s spell. Sooner or later they always end up here, facing the same decision over and over again. Sothis always makes the same choice.
“Thank you,” Byleth whispers. “For everything.”
Byleth reaches out her hand, and the power of the goddess seeps into her soul.
*
Callused hands gently stroke her bangs out of her face. Her consciousness is fading, but she doesn’t need to see to know whose hand it is. She would recognize that touch anywhere.
“Sorry, Professor,” Dimitri says. “I have no choice but to carry you back.”
*
Byleth raises her eyebrows as Sylvain limps into the training grounds. “Ingrid?”
“Yes.” He awkwardly scratches the back of his head.
“Did you deserve it?”
After a moment of hesitation, he sighs. “Yes.”
*
The sight of Edelgard’s coronation is as breathtaking as it is terrifying. The ceremony marks the beginning of a nationwide bloodbath, but Byleth still can’t look away from the blinding beauty that is Emperor Edelgard with a golden crown on her head.
*
A cacophony of rattling armor and frantic prayers fills the monastery. The moment Byleth hoped to avoid is once again taking place before her eyes. She leans against the railing of the third floor balcony. In the distance she sees Edelgard’s army gathering, preparing for the first battle of the war that will tear Fódlan apart.
It can’t be stopped now. It’s too late. Byleth’s time ran out the moment Edelgard’s betrayal set Dimitri’s dormant fury aflame. The war is happening. Her only option now is damage control.
“Hey, Teach.”
Byleth flinches. Even after countless cycles of nearly identical events, she’s still caught off guard every now and then – especially when Claude is involved. He’s turned unpredictability into an artform.
Claude moves to her side. His calculating eyes roam over the area below. His expression and posture radiate confidence, but his desperate grip on the railing has already turned his knuckles white.
“It can’t be stopped now,” he says, echoing Byleth’s thoughts. “Neither of those two will ever allow the other to live. There’s going to be a war, and it’s not going to be pretty.”
“So much death.” Byleth’s voice cracks. She’s seen it happen before, and now she’s going to have to see it again. She knew, but she still couldn’t stop it.
“You don’t have to go down with them, you know.” Claude sends her a quick glance before turning back to the soon-to-be battlefield. “This is their feud, not yours. I mean, just consider it. Someone’s got to protect the people in this mess, and that someone could definitely use that strategic brain of yours.”
“And in this scenario, that ‘someone’ is you?”
“If the shoe fits.” Claude shrugs. “I don’t care about who wins this war. I have a vision, and that vision would be pretty useless if there was no one left in Fódlan to see it. What do you say? Have I won you over yet?” A grin tugs at his lips. “You’d make a good Deer.”
She would.
She has.
She shook her head. “I can’t.”
“Can’t or won’t?” He tilts his head to the side. “Too fond of the kinglinesses, eh?”
She hesitates for a moment before deciding to, for once, tell the truth. “You’ll survive this war, with or without my guidance. You don’t need me. Not like they do.”
“Careful there, Teach. You’re starting to sound like you can predict the future.” His gaze sharpens. “Did you know that the Battle of the Eagle and Lion still keeps me up at night? I go over every move I made, every detail of my strategy, and how you managed to see through it all. It’s been driving me crazy – crazy enough to consider the possibility of you being some kind of mind reader. But that’s not it, is it?” He gives her a dangerous grin that almost reaches his eyes. “Come on, Teach, give a curious guy some peace of mind. I don’t kiss and tell.”
“If I told you, you’d never let me go.”
Her words clearly catch Claude off guard, which is a sight very few ever get to witness. For a moment he looks like he’s going to jokingly deny her claim, but in the end he just sighs. “I’d use you.”
She nodded. “And you’d end up hating yourself for it.”
“Fair enough.”
Claude studies her face, the cogs of his brilliant mind turning. His charming trickster façade flickers, revealing a taste of the unstoppable man he will one day become. “Let’s say you’re right, Teach. Maybe I don’t need you by my side to make my vision come true. Doesn’t mean I don’t want you there.”
Memories of wild wyvern rides, uncontrollable laughter, and pearls of sweat on copper skin flashes before her eyes. Heat rushes to her cheeks. He blinks.
“Oh, I get it.” The lighthearted tone in his voice clashes wildly against the intensity in his eyes. “There’s a version of this, whatever this is, where you choose me, isn’t there? One where you and I…?”
“Maybe.” She gives him a melancholic smile. “Just… not this one.”
*
Byleth knows she has to fall. She has to take that final blow that sends her down into the abyss. It’s the only way to make things turn out the way she wants to. She knows that, but she’s still just as terrified when the darkness claims her.
*
“You… how long do you intend to sleep? Get on your feet. Right now!”
*
The stairs leading up to the ruins of the old monastery are littered with butchered corpses. Carefully minding her steps, Byleth continues forward, heading towards the place where she knows she’ll find the wretched shell of the boy she abandoned when he needed her the most.
He’s on the floor, leaning heavily on his lance to stay upright. His pale skin is stained with blood. The dark circle surrounding his one remaining eye has the color of a bruise. Sweat, mud, wounds, scars – his handsome face is covered in layers upon layers of suffering. The guilt hits her in the stomach like a sledgehammer. Even though she always knows what awaits her at the end of her five-year slumber, she’s never prepared for that first sight of the haunted creature that used to be Dimitri.
Her dream comes with many sacrifices, and this is the one where Dimitri pays the price. The king that Fódlan so desperately needs can only rise from the ruins of a broken prince.
The prince in front of her is about as broken as a man can be.
Byleth knows he won’t accept her hand, but she still reaches out for him. She always does. And it always breaks her heart when he turns away.
“I should have known that one day you would be haunting me as well.”
*
The abandoned monastery springs back to life as its former teachers and students return. One by one they enter Garregh Mach, all of them bringing a shard of joy and a small shimmer of hope. Byleth smiles as she watches a highly frustrated Lysithea try to put a book back on a shelf she clearly can’t reach. Her smile widens even more when Raphael enters the library. She knows exactly where the situation is heading, and she never grows tired of watching her former students get into ridiculous fights over absolute nonsense.
Her happiness is genuine, but it’s also bittersweet. This is where the tricky part begins.
*
“Leave it to me,” Byleth yells as she crosses the battlefield, heading towards the trembling silver-haired foe. It’s not a very strategic decision, but no one questions her. Maybe they’re all relieved they won’t have to be the one dealing the final blow against the sweetest boy to ever grace the Officers Academy.
*
When Dorothea dances, she enthralls everyone around her. No one, friend nor foe, can look away. They see a rose in bloom: beautiful, delicate, and full of life. She doesn’t. No matter how many times Byleth tries to convince her otherwise, the songstress still only sees herself as petals slowly falling to the ground, leaving nothing but thorns.
*
Byleth is well aware of the location where Rhea is kept prisoner, but she still pretends to be just as concerned as the rest of the archbishop’s loyal supporters. She holds on to her worried façade with an iron grip, because keeping Rhea locked up is the only way to prevent her from crushing Byleth’s plan before it’s even started.
Though they’d never admit it themselves, Dimitri, Edelgard and Claude share a fairly similar vision. The three of them fight for a unified Fódlan, where the strong will no longer prey on the weak. In a world like that, there’s no place for a power-hungry demigoddess. Byleth knows it, and so does Rhea.
*
A part of Byleth hates Dimitri with her entire being during his feral phase. Another part still loves him just as intensely. Her exasperated frustration is, however, always present, because spending hours upon hours on building a strategy around a murder machine with zero sense of self-perseverance makes her want throw the prince off a damn roof.
She finds him in the cathedral as always, muttering morbid nonsense about ghosts and heads being ripped off their shoulders. While she doesn’t usually agree with Felix when he calls the prince a wild boar, she has to admit that approaching Dimitri when he’s like this feels a bit like cornering a wounded animal – an animal with a very bad temper and very sharp claws.
“Dimitri,” she says softly. “We need to talk.”
Dimitri slowly turns around. Despite everything that’s happened to him, he still moves with the proud confidence of a ruler. He stands tall before her, his broad shoulders blocking the evening’s last rays of sunlight trickling in from the windows. The resentment in his single eye is merciless.
“Leave.”
“No.” She raises her chin. “Your army expects me to guide them through this war, and I can’t do that if you continue to disregard my orders. The stunt you pulled today with those bandits… You’re going to get yourself killed, and you’re taking everyone down with you. I can’t allow that.”
“You can’t allow that?” His cold chuckle sends a shiver down her spine. “Who do you think you are, giving orders to the walking corpse of your prince?”
He takes a step forward, and despite her feigned confidence, she takes a step back. A grave mistake. He continues forward, and she continues to back away. The wounded animal has caught the scent of blood.
Her back hits the wall. He places a hand next to her head and leans forward, caging her in. She’s fast and clever, but he’s got more raw strength than a mere human should ever possess. She would never defeat him in hand-to-hand combat, and they both know it.
“If you do not approve of what I have become, then kill me”, he says. “If you insist that you cannot… then I will continue to use you and your friends until the flesh falls from your bones.”
She swallows hard, but refuses to look away. Her courage might be wavering, but her resolve is not. “I’m not afraid of you, Dimitri.”
“You should be.” His gloved hand slowly traces her arm, her shoulder, her collarbone, until finally coming to a rest on her neck. His thumb caresses the vulnerable skin of her throat before giving it a light squeeze. “Don’t you dare pity me, Professor. We’re the same, you and I. After all is said and done, we are both murderers. Both stained. Both monsters.”
“Yes,” she whispers. “We are.”
His pauses. For the first time since their reunion, he truly looks at her. His trembling exhalation tells her he’s finally noticed it – her longing, her yearning, her need – and he snaps. His lips crash into hers. She melts into his ruthless touch, returning the kiss with a desperation matching his.
She’s back.
She’s home.
He pulls back, his eye roaming her face with childlike wonder. To her, this is just one of the countless kisses they’ve already shared, but to him, it’s their first – and, as far as he knows, possibly their last. A moan escapes her lips as he grabs the back of her thighs and hoists her up. His grip tightens to the point where it will most certainly leave bruises. He clings to her like a man on the verge of drowning.
“I won’t leave you again, Dimitri,” she says, entangling her fingers in his hair as his lips wander down her throat. “I swear it.”
“Good.” He bites down hard on the spot where her neck meets her shoulder, a place where neither her hair nor her clothes would hide the mark. She can’t see his face, but she feels his feral grin against her skin. “I do not intend to let you go.”
*
Manuela and Hanneman have been bickering for nearly half an hour when Sylvain walks by their table in the dining hall. He pauses mid-step and leans down.
“You’re aware that everyone knows you’re sleeping with each other, right?”
Hanneman gasps. Manuela screams. Ingrid kicks Sylvain in the shin.
*
Some sacrifices are uglier than others. Rodrigue’s death, as necessary as it is, might be the ugliest one of them all.
*
“Your hands are so warm… Have they always been?”
The last remains of the broken prince is washed away by the pouring rain. The king rises.
*
One day, Mercedes drags a reluctant Death Knight into the monastery. She smiles proudly, reminding Byleth of a child that’s about to ask her parents if she can keep the stray cat she just found in the gutter. Byleth can’t deny the value of Jeritza’s skills, so he stays. On the battlefield, she appreciates his presence. Everywhere else, she’s ambiguous at best. She tries to believe Mercedes when she claims that her brother is just a little bit misunderstood, but he’s not making it easy. Not even once during her countless lifetimes has she managed to get share a cup of tea with the knight without receiving a poetic confession of how badly he wants to stab her in the chest.
*
Byleth is never as calm as when she’s lying in Dimitri’s arms, listening to the soft thuds of his beating heart. She can’t help but wonder what it’s like to have a ticking little machine in your chest that keeps you alive. According to Dimitri, people usually don’t even think about it. It’s just there. She wonders if she would get used to it too, if her heart ever were to start beating.
She highly doubts it.
*
Sylvain pauses mid-step as he passes Dimitri and Byleth in the dining hall. He smirks.
“You’re aware that everyone knows you’re—”
Ingrid clocks him in the head with a plate.
*
Byleth hates Gronder Field.
*
“If you’re going to lead Fódlan, then the Alliance lords will follow you.” Claude hands Dimitri his bow. The former leader of the Alliance is limping a little, but overall, he seems to have gotten through the battle more or less unharmed. He always does. It’s like his plans have so many backup plans that not even death itself can keep track of what’s going on.
“I’ve played my part now,” he continues. “Right, Teach?”
“You have,” Byleth says. “Thank you for trusting us.” Wordlessly, she adds, Thank you for trusting me.
“I knew you’d come. You’re a bunch of soft-hearted suckers after all.” Claude winks, and wordlessly replies, Always.
“Go to Almyra. Make your vision come true, Kha—” She bites her tongue, but the slip is already out. “Claude. Make your vision come true, Claude.”
“Your wish is my command.” He gives her a sarcastic little bow, keeping eye contact through the entire movement. His grin has a knowing edge. “Too bad I’ll never get to experience that other version, eh? I bet it was a fun one.”
Byleth smiles. “It was.”
*
Hilda manages to break an impressive amount of hearts – and furniture – during the few days she stays at the monastery before jumping back up on her wyvern to follow Claude to Almyra.
*
This is it.
Byleth clenches her trembling fists as Edelgard walks up to Dimitri. For the first time in many, many years, the two of them speak in earnest. Their conversation is calm and sensible, dancing around the unavoidable for as long as they can. Eventually, they reach the point of no return. They share the same vision, but they both conclude that their methods are too disparate to coexist.
In every other timeline, this is where Byleth loses. Dimitri and Edelgard go their separate ways, and one of them winds up dead. She takes a deep breath. Not this time.
“Neither of you will see your dream come true unless we defeat Those Who Slither in the Dark.” She looks at a highly skeptical Edelgard, and then turn her gaze to a very confused Dimitri. This is the moment she’s been preparing for since she first laid eyes on the three heirs. This is why she spent so much effort on returning lost items, organizing choir practices, and saving money for expensive tea. This is it.
“Do you trust me?”
*
The temporary truce between the Holy Kingdom and the Empire is anything but pretty. The wounds each side have caused the other are too deep to heal with a simple common goal. What they all share, though, is their loyalty to their respective leader – and their leaders have decided to put their faith in their old professor.
Together, they prepare for their march to Shambhala.
*
An unavoidable side effect of the truce is the liberation of Rhea.
If Rhea knows Byleth’s true feelings, she doesn’t show it. The demigoddess keeps giving Byleth that serene smile, treating her like a companion, a mother, and a daughter all at once. Byleth plays along, because she knows all too well how Rhea reacts when someone questions her authority. It always ends with fire. Lots, and lots of fire.
Byleth keeps up her dangerous act, because Rhea can’t show her true face yet. Those Who Slither in the Dark must be defeated before the world burns.
*
“You never told me about Those Who Slither in the Dark,” Dimitri murmurs, softly stroking Byleth’s hair. “Why would you hide such a thing from me?”
“If I’d told you, you would have gone after them yourself.” She presses a kiss to his jaw before settling back down on his chest. Her body relaxes to the sound of his heartbeats. “We wouldn’t have made it on our own.”
A lie, of course, but it’s a white one.
He sighs. “Even now, after all this time, you are still a mystery to me. My beloved, will you ever entrust me with your secrets?”
“When all of this is over, I’ll tell you everything. I promise.”
Truth.
*
Edelgard grabs Byleth’s arm and pulls her to the side. “For as long as the Church of Seiros controls Fódlan, this war will never end,” she says in a low voice. “I will continue down this path until the people of this land are free to decide their own fates. I have devoted my life to destroying the blood-stained cycle the church so desperately wishes to uphold. Defeating Those Who Slither in the Dark will not lead me astray.”
“I know.”
They stand in silence for a while, watching the army close in on the underground city.
“Will you go back to them, once this battle is over? To him?” Edelgard lowers her eyes. “You were once like family to me. I do not regret my decision to start this war, but I cannot help but wonder how things would have been if I’d walked down this path with you by my side.”
Better, yet so much worse.
After making sure no one’s listening, Byleth leans closer. “I want the cycle to end, too, El. So does Dimitri.”
“A highborn person like him will never understand the struggles of the poor and weak.” Edelgard scoffs. “He believes they cannot survive without their faith, that it’s their useless prayers to a goddess who will never answer that keep them alive. He claims to speak on the behalf of the people, yet he still refuses to let go of the system that is causing this injustice. Do you truly believe that he will change his mind, my teacher? That a man like him can ever see the truth?”
“I hope so. Just like I hope that you, once this is over, will see that you both share the same vision.”
“That’s a dangerous gamble, even for a strategist like you.” She snorts, her eyes glittering with amusement. “But then again, I do remember the days when you used to make plans based entirely on lucky hits.”
*
Byleth has never seen anything as terrifying or as beautiful as Dimitri and Edelgard fighting side by side. Power, grace, speed, skill – together, the two rulers are unstoppable. Edelgard gives Dimitri a short nod when Areadbhar blocks an enemy blade moments before it slashes her side. Dimitri’s lips twitch when she returns the favor, her shield blocking an arrow aimed at his chest.
In perfect synchronization, they both fall back as they reach their final foe. With the Emperor and the King guarding her back, Byleth raises the Sword of the Creator.
Thales falls.
*
“So, uh, are we still at war or what?” Caspar asks, casting nervous glances left and right as the army leaves the ruins of Shambhala.
Linhardt yawns. “I have no idea.”
In all honesty, neither did Byleth.
*
Back at Garreg Mach, Rhea, still affected by her years of imprisonment, once again tries to entrust Byleth with the leadership of the Church of Seiros. The demigoddess eyes turn cold when Byleth declines.
“The world is changing, Seiros,” Byleth says. “Humanity is rising up. Fódlan belongs to its people, and It’s time for the children of Sothis to let go.”
Rhea reacts just like Byleth knew she would. A guttural roar pierces the tense silence of the monastery.
The world burns.
*
The crest stones within the soldiers and monks of the Church of Seiros react to the Immaculate One’s calls, and soon, the monastery is crawling with mindless beasts. The two armies are once again forced to work together, and so is Dimitri and Edelgard. Putting their grudge back on pause, the two of them raise their weapons against the feral creature that used to be Rhea.
Out of all of Byleth’s battles against the Immaculate One, this should have been the easiest one. With two armies instead of one, she was certain the odds were in their favor – but, as always, it turns out there’s a detail she’s overlooked.
With Dimitri’s and Edelgard’s strength combined, Those Who Slither in the Dark went down much faster than Byleth predicted. Thales never managed to summon his javelins of light. Rhea never took that almost lethal hit to save them all.
This version of the Immaculate One, worn-out but mostly unharmed, is the strongest one Byleth has ever faced.
Over and over, Byleth sends the coiled blade of the Sword of the Creator through the air, but every time an enemy falls another one takes its place. All around her, soldiers of the Kingdom and the Empire alike fall victim to the Immaculate One’s merciless fire. True terror fills Byleth’s chest. She miscalculated, and this time, she won’t be able to go back and make things right. This is her last shot, and she’s failing. Again.
“What’s the plan?” Sylvain yells from his steed, blood trickling down his face from a wound on his forehead.
Byleth slashes down another white beast as she tries to come up with an answer. Not even Ashe and Lysithea have managed to get close enough to Rhea to attack. Dedue, who can usually withstand pretty much anything, was nearly killed in one single hit. There is no plan. There hasn’t been for quite some time.
Somewhere to her right, Edelgard gasps. “Look!”
Byleth turns around. Her eyes narrow as she stares at the horizon. A strange cloud is approaching from the east, and it’s moving fast.
“What is that?” Dimitri punches a church soldier in the face before piercing another one with his lance in one single movement. “More beasts?”
Byleth’s brain goes blank. They wouldn’t survive another wave of reinforcements. Her battalion withdrew ages ago. Mercedes is running out of healing spells. Felix, the one-man army, is surrounded, and he’s already tricked death more times than should have been statistically possible. Byleth has officially run out of strategies.
She squints at the horizon. Her heart skips a beat. She catches the glimpse of a banner, and it carries the colors of yellow and black.
“No,” she says, smiling. “It’s the King of Almyra.”
*
The master of unpredictability swoops in with an army of wyvern riders, and just like that, the tides turn. Eventually, Byleth stands before Rhea with the three young rulers by her side.
“You ungrateful piece of trash.” The Immaculate One’s eyes burn with manic hatred. “I gave you everything. You stole my mother from me. I will take her back!”
She lunges for Byleth, but her blow is blocked by a crimson shield.
“Your reign has ended, Rhea,” Edelgard says, her voice unwavering. “This battle marks the birth of a new world – a world where the strong will no longer prey on the weak.”
Dimitri rearranges his grip on Areadbhar, preparing to strike. “A world where people are allowed to choose their own beliefs.”
“A world where everyone, regardless of their heritage, can be free.” Claude draws his bow.
Edelgard gives the two kings an appreciative nod before turning back to Rhea. “A world,” she says as she raises Aymr, “where there’s no need for gods.”
*
The Immaculate One falls. One by one, the crest-bearing beasts drop to the ground as Seiros’ power leaves their bodies. Something cracks in Byleth’s chest. The Sword of the Creator slips from her hands, and then she’s falling too.
She knows what’s happening. She’s known from the beginning how her journey would end.
It was worth it, she thinks, and then the darkness claims her.
*
Byleth blinks. Her mind is blank. She tries to remember where she is, but her brain gives her nothing. She then tries to remember who she is, but she doesn’t seem to know that either.
“Professor.”
“Teach.”
“Teacher.”
The three names are called out all at once, and somehow, she knows they all belong to her. She blinks again and tries to focus on the three faces hovering above her. Blue eyes, green eyes, violet eyes, all staring down at her, sharing the same obvious relief. Her mind clicks. Everything falls back into place.
“I did it,” she whispers. “I finally did it.”
Dimitri scoops her up and hugs her to his chest with a desperation that makes her fear for the safety of her ribs.
Edelgard smiles, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Voice trembling, Claude says, “I like the new hair.”
*
Once the Emperor has made sure that the governing of Fódlan will no longer be decided by bloodlines but by the will of the people, she hands over the crown to the unified nation’s first elected king. The former Prince of Faerghus becomes the King of Fódlan, and with the support of the King of Almyra, he opens up the continent’s borders to the rest of the world.
The power of turning back time is lost forever. The human who once wielded it feels no remorse.
*
Byleth never stops cherishing the soft thuds of her beating heart.

Blue Lions Translation Chapter 2
I’m still doing this guys. Things just got a bit hectic for me, but it’s cleared up for now.
Going forward, I am going to rely on the Datamine website a lot, so I’ll be using screenshots from it as well. Having the portraits next to it should help put things more in context as well.
Again, I gotta mention that things are tight for me financially, so if anyone can spare anything, I kindly direct you toward my Ko-Fi Page.
Anyway, without further ado, let’s continue:
My comments in italics
Scene 1 Discussing the Fugitive Bandits
Seteth: Anyway, as has been discusses before, this time your task is the suppression of bandits.
Seteth: For students currently studying battle only as theory, experiencing actual combat will prove a valuable experience.
Seteth: Of course, the suppression will be handled under the guidance of the Knights of Seiros. The battle ought to further prepare the students.
Seteth: That being said, this is no mock battle. Be prepared to face an appropriate amount of danger.
Seteth: Wait to receive a message from the knights and then depart. Until then do not be carelss in your preparations. That is all.
Dimitri: This will be our first real battle. We are counting on you, Professor.
[Choose: Same to you] or [Choose: I am worried]
Dimitri: During the mock battle, your commands were precise. With you there, professor, we should be able to handle the suppression well.
Dimitri: There still seems to be some time before our departure. Right now, we have to do whatever we can to prepare.
Exploration
Dimitri
Dimitri: Seems we have been entrusted to suppress a group of bandits just after enrolling at the academy.
Dimitri: ... Hearing about the objective makes it sound all well and good, but it will mean fighting to survive. It's the same as war.
Dimitri Even with the support of the Knights of Seiros, we must brace ourselves.
The next section isn’t in the Datamine. Or at least not in the part I checked, so I got the script from elsewhere.
ディミトリ: 大修道院での過ごし方や戦闘について、 まだ何か聞きたいことはあるか?▼
Dimitri: Is there anything about spending time at the monastery or battle that you wish to hear about?
[選択可: 教員研修]
[Choose: Faculty Training]
ディミトリ: 先生が俺たちを指導するのと同じように、 先生方も互いに指導し合っているそうだ。▼ もしも興味があるなら、ハンネマン先生や マヌエラ先生から指導を受けてみるといい。▼
Dimitri: Just as the professors instruct us students, they also offer guidance to each other. ▼ If you are interested, you should accept instructions from Professor Hanneman or Professor Manuela. ▼
[選択可: スカウト]
[Choose: Scouting]
Dimitri: Though a student's affliation with their house is decided by their country of origin, each of them have their own strengths and interests. ▼ Meaning that if a student so wishes, while having their professor's permission, they can be allowed to transfer to another class. ▼ This might come up should you spend more time with students during monastery activities.
Back to better business
Dedue
(……近寄らんほうがいい )
(Speech Bubble: ... It would be best not to get close.)
Dedue: It would be best not to get close to me.
Dedue: ..Associating with someone from Duscur might lead to rumours and the like.
Felix
(気をつけることだ)
(Speech Bubble: You need to be careful)
Felix: Me and that boar prince have been inseparable since birth... no, even before that.
Felix: That's why I am warning you. ... That guy harbours a beast in his heart.
Felix: You can trust in his skill and animal strength, but you cannot put your faith in this man as a human being.
Felix: You need to be careful, so you don’t end up getting gobbled up as well.
Ashe
(僕もあんな大人に…… )
(Speech Bubble: Becoming an adult like that...)
Ashe: It is all thanks to my adoptive father, Lord Lonato, that a commoner like me was able to enroll at the monastery.
Ashe: He is strict yet kind, the very model of a knight... I like to think I'll be just like him someday.
Sylvain
Sylvain: So our first mission is about taking down some bandits, I see. Makes you think just how Lady Rhea values human life, right?
Sylvain: For example, there's my estranged older brother. That guy lost himself to bandits...
Sylvain: is something that could have happened at some point. Ahaha, well, I was joking though.
Mercedes
(ここは落ち着くわね~)
(Speech bubble: This place is so calming~)
Mercedes: The cathedral is so nice and quiet.~ Whenever I am here, I can let go of my worries.~
Mercedes: By the way, have you come to offer your prayers to the goddess as well, professor?
[Choose: That's right] (+Support with Mercedes)
Mercedes: My my, just the same as me. Shall we pray together, professor?
[Choose: I had no reason for coming]
Mercedes: My my, is that so? Since you are here already, let's pray together.
Annette
(甘いもの、辛いもの……)
(Speech Bubble: Sweet food, spicy food...)
Annette: To prepare myself for the day I'll be assigned cooking duty, I have to learn everyone's favourite and least favourite foods.
Annette: Professor, do you prefer sweet food or spicy food?
[Choose: Sweet food] [+Support with Annette]
Annette: Ahaha, just like me! I'll be sure to remember it!
[Choose: Spicy Food]
Annette: Spicy food... you really are an adult, professor! I'll be sure to remember it!
Ingrid
Ingrid: Me, Felix and Sylvain are childhood friends. His Highness too.
Ingrid: ... Felix and Sylvain are the worst kind of problem children. Please be careful with them.
The exact phrasing she uses is “Problem children among problem children” xD
Ingrid: Since I can remember, the second I take my eyes off of them, they're off to goddess knows where doing whatever they please.... haah..
The First Real Battle – Blue Lions
Dimitri: Professor, just now a message from the Knights came in. They have managed to gather up the bandits.
Ingrid: They seem to have cornered them just as planned. The location is the Red Valley, Zanado.
Ashe: We mustn't let such immoral bandits escape. Let's all work together and do our best!
Dedue: ... Whatever enemies we face, they will not lay a single finger on His Highness.
Felix: What a pain... We are facing simple bandits. I doubt any of them will pose a challenge.
Sylvain: Don't talk about it so indifferently. I am actually excited. I mean, hey, there could be a pretty girl among those bandits.
Annette: ... At any rate, this a great opportunity to see how we perform in a real battle.
Mercedes: That's true. We already did well in the mock battle, so if we act like before, we should be fine.
[Everyone besides Byleth and Dimitri leaves]
[Choose: Everyone seems to be having fun] ot [Choose: I wonder if we will do well...]
Dimitri: They are bit too excited, but... since we have the knights' support this time, it should be fine. ...
Dimitri: Ah, speaking of the knights, I heard Sir Jeralt had returned to the Knights of Seiros.
Dimitri: If we get close, I might be able to see him and you fight alongside each other again.
[Choose: It's not that exciting.] or [Choose: It's not really strange]
Dimitri: Is that so? ... That might be the case for you, professor.
Dimitri: To tell the truth, I am a bit jealous of you. My parents are gone after all.
[Choose: What do you mean?] or [Choose: They are gone?]
Dimitri: They died. Both of them. ... I was the only one to be left alive.
Dimitri: ... I am sorry for talking about something so dull. Let us depart now, Professor!
[Byleth nods]
Before the Battle
Dimitri: The Red Valley... This is the first time I've come here. I can see some kind of ruins, but...
Dimitri: ... No matter, let's begin, Professor. The bandits must have already been driven into the valley.
Kostas: ... Damn! It's the knights? I can't believe I let myself get chased this far.
Bandit: Boss, let's make a break for it already! There is no way we can win against them!
Kostas: ... You goddamn moron, where are we gonna run at this point? How can you call yourself a bandit when you’re scared to die?
The bandits have a pretty rude way of speaking, but I am not about to embarass myself by repeating it in English. They sound like thugs, okay?
1st Turn
Dimitri: According to our information, there is a short cut along the west side. How about we split into groups, heading both west and forward?
Dimitri: If we move correctly, I think we should gain the advantage in the fight with a pincer attack...
Dimitri: I will of course leave you to decide our movements, Professor. Either way, first we have to cross this bridge.
First time killing an enemy
Dimitri: No matter if they were bandits, this is something I can never get used to.
Dedue: ... I hope His Highness is all right.
Felix: You guys aren't worth killing. What, finished already?
Sylvain: Well, it couldn't be helped. Don't hate me for this.
Ashe: Had we hesitated, we'd be dead. ... So this is what a battle is like.
Mercedes: May you at least find rest at the goddess' side...
Annette: Thank goodness, I managed somehow.... Even I can fight... !
Ingrid: I mustn't drop my guard here. I have to prepare for the next enemy...!
Kostas vs. Dimitri
Kostas: You sheltered noble brat! You better shut up and die this time!
Dimitri: Unfortunately, I cannot do that. ... You will regret your actions.
Winning the Battle
Dimitri: We successfully dealt with the bandits. From here, we should listen to the knight's orders.
Dimitri: You did well, Professor. ... Your commands were excellent.
After Battle
During Sothis’ Memories
Dimitri: Professor? It's about time we returned to the monastery. The others have already assembled.
After the First Mission
Dimitri: We've finally arrived. Professor, I'll entrust you with reporting to Lady Rhea.
[Byleth nods]
Dimitri: .......... Over there, is that... Edelgard?
[Edelgard and Manuela appear]
Dimitri: Are the Black Eagles headed for their first mission? You can never tell what is going to happen in a real fight.
Dimitri: Even the worst case might happen. Take care of yourself, Edelgard.
Edelgard: No need to tell me. I wonder why you insist on worrying so much about me.
Edelgard: Could it be you are looking down on me? If so, I am disappointed in you.
Dimitri: ... That is not what I meant. If I offended you, I apologize.
Edelgard: ... Well, no matter. Professor, everyone is waiting. Let us go.
[Edelgard leaves]
Manuela: Oh my... Anyway, I shall be off as well. No need to worry, Dimitri.
[Manuela leaves]
Dimitri: .......
[Choose: Why are you so worried?] Instantly skips to the end
[Choose: Are you in love...?]
Dimitri: Haha, no way. Looks like even you can tell a joke sometimes, Professor.
[Continuing]
Dimitri: I will explain the circumstances later. ... Later, okay?

Three Houses Characters, Ranked On Their Likelihood To Dab: Part III: Golden Deer and Church
Everyone, I have done it. They tried to hunt me down, planted explosives in my dab lab and bees in my car, but I escaped the bombs and befriended the bees and now I’m here, here to present you with the final installment in my magnum opus, a comprehensive ranking of how likely each playable character in FE3H is to perform The Dab. Perhaps you thought I would stop at the Leicester Alliance and its students, surely finishing on the upbeat note of lighthearted Claude and pals, but much like von Riegan himself, von Hippoman has a scheme. Like a [SPOILER REDACTED] fired from [SPOILER REDACTED], I’m gonna blow your minds with all the Church of Seiros aligned characters too. Because you deserve to know. Let’s save Fodlan together.
Minor Spoilers For Post-Timeskip Will Follow!
The list, as always, is Canon. Thank you.
Claude: 14/10: The Master Tactician, the Golden Deer, the Schemer, the Dabmaster. There are many challengers to the throne, but Claude von Riegan sits comfortably upon it, arm bent, face in elbow, unleashing the one and only God-Shattering Dab.
(gravityemblem314 suggested a ranking of 69/10 for Claude, but please, this is science, not NICE science. @camelpimp mentioned that Claude likely instituted a mandatory pre-battle dab for the Golden Deer, that’s also canon.)
Alois: 12/10: The kids...they love to dab. Alois wants to be hip and cool with the kids, and if his jokes aren’t enough to do it, surely his sweet dabs will do it! Especially if he mixes them together. He can frequently be seen in the dining hall, asking for some extra sauce on his meals. When the students ask how much, he replies “Oh, just a...DAB” and he JUST FUCKIN’ LETS LOOSE.
Hilda: 10/10: Claude’s faithful (if not dependable) sidekick and friend shares in his affinity for the dab, but not quite to the same degree. Claude’s sick dabs require a level of effort frankly beyond the Goneril scion, so she’s more into casual usage. That said, it’s A LOT of usage. Raphael: 9/10: The big man of the Golden Deer loves to dab. He’s absolutely jacked, so the sheer power contained in those moves could shatter stone, and once did, resulting in a renovation of Raph’s dorm room and a migraine for Seteth. Despite his enthusiasm, he’s very, very bad at them, but nobody wants to point it out. He’s just so happy.
Flayn: 8/10: Flayn is absolutely in for this. She is totally, 100%, definitely a Young Human after all and this is what Young Humans do, they dab. Flayn does it all the time, often in a big circle with Annette, Caspar, and Claude. Seteth is yearning for the sweet embrace of death.
Catherine: 7/10: She’s usually pretty jazzed about something, and all that excess energy has to go somewhere. One time she impaled a man with Thunderbrand mid-dab but she doesn’t like to talk about it.
Manuela: 7/10: Manuela is at a crossroads. On one hand, it’s not the classiest thing in the world, and she’s a pretty classy lady with some standards, you know? But on the other hand, the students love it and they do say it makes her look younger. The debate is meaningless because when she gets drunk she just lets loose anyway.
Leonie: 6/10: High energy Leonie is always ready for a challenge, and this counts. She’d never seen a “dab” before coming to Garreg Mach, but it’s so much more fun than the usual high society shit people try to foist on her so hey, why not? Plus, she heard from Byleth that Jeralt knows how to hit the dab too. He was just covering a cough, though. He can’t convince her of that.
(thanks to kokorikopi for assisting in this fascinating Eisner Family Trivia)
Ignatz: 5/10: Sure, Ignatz never really had any interest in dabbing. It seemed sorta silly to him. But Raphael kept begging him to try it, and he wasn’t going to turn down such a pleasant request. So he did, and wait a minute. You could do something artsy with this, right? Ignatz is in search of a dab that is truly effervescent, an aesthetically pleasing pose to delight the senses and advance the culture of Fodlan through its grace. Godspeed, you young visionary.
(Raphael and Ignatz ideas contributed by gardenvarietyfox!)
Seteth: 5/10: Seteth got caught sneezing by Caspar once and he started chanting “DAB SETETH DAB”. It became a monastery meme for a while and Seteth could not leave his office without being hounded to perform the accursed dance. Flayn likes it, though, so he doesn’t mind. Too much. Okay he minds a lot.
Lorenz: 4/10: At first Lorenz Hellman Gloucester would rather have been eviscerated by a weedwhacker than do something so base as dab. However, through his experiences with his classmates, he came to realize that the dab is a powerful diplomatic tool. It speaks much with little effort and helps to connect with commoners across Fodlan. He still sucks at it but he’s trying.
Cyril: 4/10: Cyril wasn’t born in Fodlan, and frankly he finds their trends weird and doesn’t really care for them. But they’ll usually start cheering and get out of his way to let him get to cleaning if he does it, so hey, when in Rome...
Lysithea: 3/10: Lysithea is already extremely short, meaning her arms have little dab power. Whenever she dabs, someone calls it “cute” and it absolutely infuriates her. So dabbing is for fools, obviously. That said...after defeating a certain mounted masked marauder...she may have let herself indulge a little bit. Don’t tell anyone.
Hanneman: 2/10: Ain’t no Crest of Dabbylad now is there?
Marianne: 2/10: Oh, poor Marianne. She’s having a bad day, and a bad week, and a pretty crummy year. She doesn’t feel like she has anything to dab about, and if she does, everyone will probably just laugh at her and point their fingers at the bad dabber. Thankfully, the other Deer are there for her, and they gave her time. Eventually, slowly and carefully, she did it. It was terrible, but only one person told her that. Hilda Goneril was later seen tossing a mysterious sack into the Garreg Mach pond.
Shamir: 1/10: Catherine won’t stop doing it. She just will not stop doing it, and she’s so absolutely sick of it. She’s this close to shooting an arrow through one of her partner’s arms the next time she does it. Seiros hasn’t done anything about it yet and that’s why Shamir is an atheist.
Gilbert: 1/10: Dab? What is that? Does my daughter do that? Hmm. Didn’t get it from me. I ABANDONED HER. And so we reach the end. Through a comprehensive knowledge of the cast’s dabability, surely they can find a way to put aside their differences and work together to make a brighter future for Fodlan. By reading these posts, you have unlocked the Golden Ending. I had it all along. Thank you and goodnight.
