Do you miss him? I think I miss a notion of him. - Jonas and Hannah (1x02)
In all the worlds, Peter finds his way to Benni because he was always meant to be with her. I think something like that also applies to Hannah, but even more chaotic. Her love interests were a Nielsen and/or a policeman, so it might seem like Hannah was somehow looking for Ulrich. Since i watched the last episode, I don't think so.
All the similarities and differences in Hannah's romances are interesting to me. I think the ending was really fitting for her character, and now I have a different interpretation of her relationships.
Don't you think it'd be good if you got out? Won't you at least try? For me. - Hannah to Michael (2x06)
Michael Kahnwald: He was a really kind person. Hannah thought he was cool when they met. He was really nice to Hannah, and she was nice to him when others weren't. Even in his worst moments, Hannah was there for Michael. She didn't know who he really was, but she knew how he was before. Hannah just wanted to see her husband get better. Hannah loved Michael.
He loved Hannah.
She started a family with him in Adam's World.
Michael keeps secrets from her.
He is the father of her child (Jonas) and he loved their child so much. Michael would even give his life for Jonas.
They are not just romantic partners. He is also her descendant (great-great-great-grandson).
Mikkel is a Nielsen.
I tried to remember if you ever said "I love you" to me. - Hannah to Ulrich (2x07)
Ulrich Nielsen: He wasn't very nice most of the time, but he really tried his best. Ulrich and Hannah were friends since they were young. Hannah was obsessed with him. Ulrich had an affair with Hannah that didn't end well for them. Their relationship seems like it was never meant to be in any world. Ulrich always loved Katharina.
He didn't love Hannah.
She tried to start a family with him in Eva's World.
Ulrich keeps her as a secret and keeps secrets from her.
He loves his kids (Magnus, Martha and Mikkel).
Ulrich is a policeman.
They are not just romantic partners. He is also her descendant (great-great-grandson).
Ulrich is a Nielsen.
I love you. - Egon to Hannah (3x04)
Egon Tiedemann: He was a good man, and he was really nice to Hannah when they met. They had an affair. He told her he loved her, but Egon was holding on to a broken marriage. More than Doris leaving him, I think Egon was more affected by ruining the opportunity to be with someone who really wanted to be with him. But things probably worked out better for Hannah and Egon in Eva's World, Egon being a traveler was probably more able to think outside of the box.
He loved Hannah
She started a whole cursed family tree with him in Adam's and Eva's Worlds.
Egon keeps her as a secret.
He is the father of her child (Silja) and he loves his child (Claudia). He didn't know Silja in Adam's World, but I think he did in Eva's World.
Egon is a policeman.
They are just romantic partners.
Egon is not a Nielsen, but Egon and Hannah are technically the origin of the Nielsen family. Actually, she used the name Katharina Nielsen when they met in Adam's world and she is Hannah Nielsen in Eva's world, so Hannah is the Nielsen.
Egon's existence is not tied to the knot.
As a traveler, Egon's mission was to create his past to preserve the family tree. In order for his younger self to fall in love with her and have a child with her, he had to save Hannah from the apocalypse. I find it interesting that Hannah & Egon is the one Hannah relationship that's always necessary in Adam and Eva's World. I think Egon is the closest to Hannah's husband in Origin World.
Actually, no one here understood why she married him. She's very pretty. She could've had any man she wanted. - Wöller to Clausen (2X04)
Hannah is with Wöller in the Origin World.
Torben Wöller is funny and kind. He is a good man who loves Hannah. They are just romantic partners. He also happens to be a policeman in all the versions we have seen of him at his job. His profession didn't change from Adam's World to Eva's World, so I think he's still a member of the Winden police in Origin World. Wöller is not a Nielsen, so his existence is not tied to the knot. The series ends with Hannah starting a family with Wöller.
I just think that maybe all along Hannah was just trying to have what she was always supposed to have.
And I wish I could say that Wöller is different from Hannah's other love interests when it comes to secrets, but I can't. Not really a secret to her, but we don't know something very important. WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS EYE???

"What I liked about Shira the most was that she has a fish out of water element to her. I like the energy of someone who is very strong in their own world, but you take them out of that and all of a sudden it's kind of like the walls are falling around them and they're trying to stay strong, but seem a little lost and confused by the ground underneath their feet. That it gives her a sense of vulnerability, whether she wants to be vulnerable or not." -Constance Zimmer (YoungEntertainmentMag interview)

guys it is just as harmful to the community to go about and scream how francesca bridgerton is lesbian. she's very clearly still in love with john, erasing bisexuality for your headcanons is not the right way to go about this. biphobia isn't cute, cut it out <333

YES! I’m so tired of people saying Hannah didn’t love Michael when she obviously did! In season 2 episode 6, we see how she interacts with him, how warm and affectionate she is. She comes downstairs that morning and the first thing she does is embrace him and give him a kiss on the cheek. Then later on, she hugs him again and begs him to come to the Nielsens’ anniversary party, to at least try to get out of the house for her sake. It’s plain to see that she’s worried about Michael, but she doesn’t know what to do because he keeps pushing her away. She’s so desperate for him to return her love and affection, but poor Michael is so broken that he can’t.
Hannah is so lonely in her marriage and then her fucking childhood crush starts leading her on, staring into her eyes as he’s literally dancing with his wife on their ANNIVERSARY! I’m not excusing Hannah’s infidelity, but I completely understand why she did it. To be honest, I really don’t think she would have cheated on Michael if he had been there for her, if he had been able to love her and care for her the way she needed him to.
Hannah is one of the most complexly written characters in the show, but people treat her like a flat, one dimensional villain. Yes, she was cruel and selfish at times, but she was also loving and kind to those who needed it most.
And boy, did Michael need it :(
To follow the gifset I posted, I truly do believe Hannah loved Michael. His presence is the key factor that makes her life take a completely different turn. In Eva's world, where he doesn't go to the past, Hannah continues her obsession with Ulrich to the point where she manages to break Ulrich and Katharina's marriage much earlier than in Adam's world (she is already married and almost 9 months pregnant in 2019, while in Adam's world, the affair is only starting in 2019). The one thing that makes this not happen is Michael's presence: her love for him is enough to make her forget about her obsession with Ulrich, such that her affair with Ulrich only starts after she stops receiving the same affection from Michael. Considering how strong Hannah's obsession with Ulrich is, I do think it's impressive that Michael's mere presence makes Hannah forget about it. And it seems that she was much happier with Michael (at least from what we've seen of her in family photos) than she was married to Ulrich (who was cheating on her).
One could argue that she didn't love Michael, because when Jonas asks her if she misses Michael, she says she misses the idea of him; and when Jonas asks her if she loved Michael, she doesn't answer. But I think the reason for her answer or lack of answer has a lot to do with the fact that she says she "didn't know who he really was". There was always this barrier between them because of Michael's secret, so I guess she always felt like she could never fully love him or be with him like she wanted, like he never let her in, which is an understandable thing for her to feel. And it's no wonder that her obsession with Ulrich returns full force after his death, because she feels like Michael abandoned her, that he was one of the men who "left her".

I decided to take some time to process the existence of Michaela Stirling. And ding! I think I am done cooking.
Tumblr media
I love When He Was Wicked almost as much as Romancing Mr. Bridgerton.
Like I just adore that the story is so complex. Francesca is DEEPLY in love with John as Michael is all the while pining for Francesca. Then they have so much pain to sort out over John's death, the possible miscarriage, Francesca's secretly blooming desire for Michael and the guilt that comes with it for both of them, that it really gives a dark rainbowed hue to whole romance.
It might also be the hottest book of the series.
❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Just saying ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
This is why I have concluded that I am actually glad we have Michaela. This means that I get to keep the book & have the show as separate entities in my heart. (It's akin to how much I dearly love both Practical Magics, book & movie.)
That being said, I still have a couple of critiques:
1. I don't like that Francesca was immediately moonstruck by Michaela. This is a relationship that is supposed to be emotionally resisted and be hard won on almost every front.
Tumblr media
2. It also downplays how very much Francesca loved John. That love is ESSENTIAL to how Francesca and Michael moved forward after processing that love and grief.
I also have some ideas on how the story could change to still fit or adjust some of the prior needed plot points.
1. Francesca and Michael's proximity was easier to enforce at the peak of the story because Michael was the new Earl of Kilmartin. I think in this case that Francesca will have a child of John's. It will keep the Kilmartin factor in the story and make for new forced proximities.
2. This will also mean that Francesca will likely have a boy instead of a girl first. Which makes me a bit sad. I really like that in the book that Francesca quietly had her baby girl in Scotland and then just showed up with her to present to Violet. It's just such a Francecsa move, but I digress. Correction: A boy was born first in the book. But still, with no John there would be no little Janet to come second.
3. I think the entire dynamic of Francesca and Michaela will need to pivot. Michael was a seductor, he was trying to give permission to Francesca to say yes at every turn. If Francesca is more fully aware of her desire for Michaela, it's not a coaxing out of desire, it's a permission to leave society's mold.
Tumblr media
Bonus. Now for an absolute fucking wildcard change thought: John doesn't die and Francesca realizes she is poly and somehow manages to have John & Michaela as her loves. It would also include a lot of drama but in an entirely new way.

I’m so exited we get to see Francesca and John’s story this season! Her book is my favorite and I always wanted to know more about her and John since their relationship is such a big motivator for both her and Michael.

Also I love how Hannah plays her she’s just so adorable:)

Bridgertons, When He Was Wicked. Julia Quinn
I still truly stand by this book being a historical romance book with the strongest chemistry between characters ever. Was rereading it recently, and still got strapped - just couldn’t stop reading it. And even though it is a 6th book, and we don’t know yet if it will be filmed. I truly was imagining some scenes (the one in a rose salon with the table ^^). What scenes from Bridgerton books are you looking forward to seeing on screen?
BTW Am I the only one who was really excited for the recast. As When He Was Wicked is my favourite boom from the book series, I just couldn’t see Ruby Stokes being a good fit, whereas Hannah Dodd is my Francesca of choice. For Michael, I imaged Michael Trevino. What do you think?
